Updated on 08/08/2019: I got a reply from Empire on July 18, I sent pictures of the flooring. I have not heard anything since then. I sent text to them. No response. I just want the floor fixed, I just don't want to be hanging.

Original Review: I have called customer service several times with 2 confirmation numbers. I need work done on the flooring that was put in a month ago. No response, I believe I deserve a call at least. I quit calling the 800 number and went to the lady that sold me the flooring. I hope I get something done.

We had carpet, vinyl flooring, and baseboard installed by Empire Today. The carpet is a lot more quality than other brands but we're wondering about the vinyl because it's supposed to be scratch-proof and there are scratches in it. The scratches were by moving a chair. It has been pretty disappointing. Other than that, the products seem to be good.

A friend of mine had posted a picture on Facebook with her floors, and I commented on them, and she said that she had used Empire. And I had them come out to the home, and I was happy with the price that they gave me, so I had it installed. I had them install ceramic floors in the kitchen and bathroom and vinyl planking floors in the living room, dining room, hallway and two bedrooms. I like the color of the flooring and I like that they’re water-resistant. The installers were also very nice. I had two separate crews, one did the ceramic, and then, two weeks later, vinyl planking. And both crews were very polite and respectful. They cleaned up and they were wonderful.

I ordered approximately 900 sq ft of tile from Justin on 6/17. I explained that we needed to install the week of 7/15 since I would be off work and I'd be bringing in a storage unit and making arrangements for my dogs so the installers could get in an out as quickly as possible. I was told that there were only four crews in the Orlando area that installed the faux wood plank tiles but there was no doubt given this lead time that they could make this work.

On Friday 7/12 at 3:05pm I received a voicemail that said that the tile I ordered in June was now miraculously unavailable. Justin said that we either needed to wait until the tiles became available (no estimated date) or if we wanted to change tile, we could install on Monday 7/15. Despite the fact that there wasn't another tile we liked, we decided that we had to install when scheduled so she called Justin and he indicated that Monday was now off the table and we'd just need to wait... Hopefully, the tile would be available Wednesday 7/17. He said that was all he could do and that if we needed anything else, we'd have to call the 800 number.

I called the 800 number just after 5pm and spoke with Orlando who told me that there was nothing he could do, but he'd send an email to the local store and someone would call me on Monday. When I explained why this was unacceptable, I asked who else I could speak with. He said that he had no way to contact anyone at the Orlando, FL office and there was nothing else he could do. I asked to speak with his supervisor and he said that they were all on vacation and that there was no one else I could speak with. I ended the call feeling that customer service was the exact opposite of what I'd just received.

On Monday morning (7/15) I didn't hear anything from Empire. I called the 800 number again (I know, I know). I didn't catch the gentleman's name but I explained my discussion with Orlando and said I didn't think he could help me, I just needed him to connect me with the Orlando, FL office...WHICH HE DID! I hoped things were looking up. Alas, my conversation with Bill at the Orlando office was no help. He indicated that they utilize a just in time manufacturing process and sometimes these things happen. I again explained the arrangements I had made and asked how they planned to make this right. He indicated that this was not within his ability and that I had to go back to my salesperson and speak with them about it.

So, I texted Justin and I summarized my call with Bill and told him I realized that he could not help me but given that Bill couldn't help, I'd like him to connect me with someone who could. He indicated that Bill was the sales manager and his boss, so if he couldn't help, I'd need to just keep calling the 800 number. I told Justin that at this point I just wanted my money back. Since he took my deposit, I asked if he could issue a credit. Of course, cancellations and refunds were not within his purview and I'd need to call the 800 number again. Needless to say, I wasn't expecting much from this.

While I was texting with Justin, my wife received a text from Empire saying that my installation was scheduled for Friday 7/19. It said I should text C to confirm. It didn't have any option for what I really wanted to do. So I called back the 800 number and spoke with Miguel. Miguel indicated as the text had suggested that we were scheduled for the installation to begin on 7/19. I once again explained to Miguel that this was not acceptable and that I had new furniture being delivered on 7/20 as we were supposed to be done well before that. I also explained that my three dogs and my sister's two would be in the house starting on Saturday so we needed to be finished by then.

Miguel (I assume to get me off the phone) said that the installers would be here today between 8am-6pm. Now he did not explain how he was going to miraculously going to produce the tile that everyone else had told me wouldn't be available before Wednesday, but he did ensure to tell me that they would be collecting the balance of my contract before they started installing. So, it's 9am on 7/16 and I have bare concrete floors, a demolished bathroom, and I'm waiting for the installers to show up. I have little faith that they'll show and even less that they'll have the appropriate tile if they do. While looking at the other Empire reviews it appears that when things go well, people are happy, but I'm here to tell you that their customer service and service recovery are horrible. If you aren't willing to take the risk, look for another installer.

All rooms are completed with exception of the master bedroom carpet. Tile was removed but not leveled out so floor has divots all over entire floor. Installer tried to install carpet. It was very uneven because of divots in subfloor.. Carpet was also wet and now has mold and water stains on it. We need the carpet replaced now. It was pretty good. My wife talked to their rep and she liked her. She said she was really nice and professional. Also, the installation went well. It was top-notch from what I saw the last time we were at the house. The last time I saw it was about a month or so ago and it still holds up its quality. It’s in really good shape. She tried calling customer service but would be put on hold for extended periods. When someone would answer they spoke such poor English she could not understand them! They would tell her a salesman would call her but one never did. She finally got thru to someone to just cancel everything because of the poor service and asked for her $150 deposit back. They refused and told her it was too late to get her money back! I would not recommend them to anyone! And don’t believe their commercials. Updated on 08/08/2019: There has been no attempt to resolve a complaint from carpet installation on June 24th. Received an email that it has been resolved. There has been no attempt from the company to resolve or even make communication with me.

Original Review: The sales person arrived as scheduled. He was very helpful with the selection of carpet. We scheduled the installation on June 22nd. I received a confirmation phone call stating that the installer would arrive between 8am and 6pm. (Really narrowed the time down). They arrived at 9:30 with the incorrect carpet. The installer said they made a mistake at the warehouse and loaded the wrong carpets. The installer tried to contact the warehouse, but was unsuccessful. Told me there is nothing that can be done, and they would return Monday. I scheduled the install on Saturday because of my work schedule and moving schedule.

I contacted customer service and the sales person. The sales person told me he would help me out with the payment. Customer service told me the installation supervisor would contact me. Sales person could only give me $100.00 off. The supervisor never called. It has been three weeks and no word from Empire. A $3,200.00 installation cost, a wasted day on the original install day, missed day of work because of Monday install and a move in pushed off and they can only compensate me $100.00. I will not use or recommend this company to any of my friends and family.

We got quotes from Costco and an independent person here in Littleton where we live but we decided to go with Empire as the cost was competitive with Costco. We felt like we would have better access to the installers if we had an issue. I like to work with the local businessman but the independent person was so busy and couldn’t get us in. The Empire sales rep was very good, professional and had a lot of experience. We really appreciated that as she helped us narrow down the color really well. I’m very pleased with the carpet that we picked and the color.

We had the carpeting installed in all the bedrooms of our home. One of the two gentlemen who came mentioned that they don't usually do this large of a job and that it was a lot for them, which concerned me a little bit. He said they usually do about half the square footage a day versus ours. We had a very visible seam in the master bedroom. It went all the way under the bed and we decided not to move the bed. They came back in a very timely manner but we felt like they were a little exasperated with us that we had asked them to come back. The seam is much better than it was. They also broke one of my drawers. The guy very earnestly tried to fix it, but my husband said he'd fix it.

The job felt like it was too much for them so maybe the people and the job weren't matched really well. Overall, I’m pleased and would use Empire Today again. I love the carpeting. It’s gorgeous. But I wasn’t thrilled with the installers and that was their weaker area. The hardest part of their business is getting qualified people to do that in this kind of market where it’s busy so it's okay. Their strengths were the product and the salesperson.

I had Empire Today do two rooms of carpet and my bathroom with LVT. I saw the advertisement and thought I was under that ad of $50 every room after the first room. When I got my bill, it wasn’t specified per se that one room was $1,000 and the other two were $50 apiece. On my Wells Fargo bill are $289.82 and then $789.09. I’m trying to figure out where that $50 per room was. It would be nice to know how that was figured out.

The first team came and installed my carpeting. They had to move my furniture for me. I don’t know if they charged me for the moving of the furniture though. And if they did, I’d like to know what the charge was. But the guys were very nice. I moved what I could move, and then they moved the rest of it. They did a nice job. They got in and got out. They moved my furniture back in and I have no complaints about what they did. When they did both the rooms, they asked me what I wanted to do with the rest of the carpeting. It was rolled up, and I thought that there was a lot of carpeting left. Had I realized there wasn’t that much left, I'd have told them to take it.

For the LVT, the installers were a husband and wife. They were very kind and good with what they were doing, but I didn’t realize until after they were done that they had put the door of my linen closet incorrectly so I couldn’t close that door. Somebody else had to come and put the door on correctly. I didn’t really inspect per se, and I don’t know if I’m being picky, but the way that the tile is made, there are white swirls in it. When I went into the bathroom and looked at the tiles, there was a splat of white on a couple of tiles versus the way that the rest of the tiles were swirled. If there were two tiles left, I could understand that, but there were 16 left. I would’ve thought that they might’ve noticed that as well and put out some tiles that look more like each other than these blobs of white.

We had my kitchen vinyl floor done and the upstairs bedrooms carpeted. We initially did some shopping around and based on the cost and the timeframe, we decided to go with Empire. The installation in the bedroom was absolutely perfect. But the kitchen's was not. There were problems with the floor and they tried to correct it by beating it with a rubber mallet but they compromised the integrity of the vinyl. It had dents in it.

Empire sent somebody to fix it and they filled it up, put some more cement down, made part of the floor back down and left big globs of soft glue underneath that you could push on by your finger. Then Empire Today sent a young man out as an inspector with a moisture meter and after he looked at the brand-new floor, he told Empire that we had a moisture issue and that was the reason our floor was wobbling. It wasn’t. There was no moisture underneath that floor. I've been in this condo for over 20 years and I'm a contractor myself. He could only get that reading where they had done the repair and it was from the fresh concrete they had been put down to attach the floor.

He was just a young man and he was inexperienced. Empire Today really needs to give their inspectors some kind of training so they understand the product that they're checking on. If somebody else gets a false reading like that and doesn’t have a knowledge of construction like I do, they would have to pay to have the floor redone. In my case, I was back and forth with Empire until I finally got in contact with a manager. They were wanting to charge $500 to redo this floor but I said no. I insisted that they fix it right. Empire sent a guy out a final time and he completely pulled the floor up. There were no moisture problems there. The fire barrier between the unit below me and mine was also compromised but when the whole thing was smeared with a new concrete layer, it took care of that. They also put down my new floor and it's absolutely perfect now. We are really pleased with it.

I'm also very pleased with the quality of the flooring. If I was gonna put a vinyl floor in my kitchen, I wouldn’t go with a vinyl that’s as soft as this. I'm concerned that if somebody drops something sharp, the floor wouldn’t hold up. But we love the look and it's comfortable to walk on. And after the final installation, you couldn’t ask for anything better. They did a really good job the second time around.

Empire Today installed carpet in the downstairs of our home. We used Empire a couple of times before. We were familiar with them and we know their work. Our new carpeting is much lighter than the old carpeting. It makes the room look bigger. It was very easy to find the particular coloring that we wanted. It's like different colors that are multi neutrals like brown, gray, and green. When the guys came out to do the install, it went fine. The quality of their work is good. We haven't had any problems yet. With the salesman, we were not told how simple this carpet look. It's Berber, and we weren't told that it would pull up easily. And we got a new puppy and its toenails get caught on it. Sometimes, it causes strain like a bump. And once you pull it, it keeps on pulling. It's like connected to one yarn. So the salesman neglected to tell us that.

Also, we called him twice for follow-up and he never returned our call. So my husband ended up calling corporate about it. As far as the installation people, they were fine. But I would never buy from the salesperson again. He seems to know his product. He just didn't relay all the info. He never returned our calls which was like, “I got the sale, I'm just gonna forget you people now.” I didn't like it.

Empire Today is an absolute mess to work with. We had someone come out and measure a room for carpet. The price was a little high, but we agreed to it because it needed to be done anyway. The estimator was only here for about 5 minutes, and when we said we wanted something in particular, he was resistive and said it wasn't necessary. The estimator wanted $65 upfront for some reason, and we stated we would rather they include that in with total purchase price instead. He agreed. He said the installers would be here the very next day, and said we'd get a call when they were to arrive. It was an actual mess! Firstly, they didn't even give me a window of time, only that they'd be here sometime that day.

We sat waiting until 4 pm, when finally someone called from Maryland and asked if they had arrived yet. We said no, and she said she would find out when they would be arriving. We never got a callback and they never showed up. They never bothered to call and explain or apologize, and I am really glad we didn't fork over the $65 they wanted, or we would be out that money. My suggestion is to never deal with this company. They are terrible and the service is terrible. Go with someone else. Now I need to find another servicer to place carpet.

$12,000 Vinyl Flooring - DO NOT USE THEM. Ok... First Doug the sales guy is GREAT! His portion of the job was perfect. Then here comes the rest! I had about 1600 sq. feet of vinyl installed with beautiful baseboards. They came on time, but when it was time for the install they had only 2 people!!! A one day job took over a week. I would come check on the process and by noon there was just one worker! Really! Hopefully I can add the "finished work" pictures. The baseboards.. well some of them got caulking, some didn't, some edges were finished and some were not. They "forgot" to put the tracks on the ground for ALL of my closet doors. The issue is EMPIRE TODAY - farms out their work and then when you need them to complete the work the subcontractors are already working somewhere else!

BEST PART!! They did the flooring in under the washer and dryer and closed off the floor exit for the DRYER! No vent = no dryer! Yes! I called and got management to get them out to finish. They took 3 days of promising to come out and then when they came out were there less than an hour and still left without it finished. I am so disappointed in them. I should have just gone locally and saved money. Josh "journeyman" friendly but is who dropped the ball - 3 times. Sub-contractor Jesse - Disappears before noon. Sub-contractor Chris - The HARDEST and basically only worker. Jay the "Manager" - seemed concerned but micromanaging josh is the disconnect. DOUG - SALESMAN - nicest and most friendly.

Empire Carpet is nothing but a shell company using Independent Contractors that are LLC's. So the salesmen and installer work for themselves and not Empire. My experience would indicate they exercise little control or supervision over these contractors and are not responsive when there is a problem. In our case, the salesmen quoted a price for an upgraded carpet and padding but submitted the contract with the lower graded product. The installer, when asked about the product, lied about the product and proceeded to remove the existing carpeting. When we discovered the error it was too late to remedy the situation. The installer managed to destroy our existing hallway and stair carpeting and stain the newly installed carpeting.

Calling their helpline is useless, they are pleasant but do not attempt to solve the problem. We finished off the day by calling the police to assist us in removing the installer. So to summarize our experience, we have been sold the wrong product, which was damaged in installation, existing carpeting which is damaged and needs replacing. Our existing option for resolution is small claims court since Empire will not respond to our complaints. Do yourself a favor and use local stores, at least you can reach out and touch them when there is a problem.

We chose Empire because the price was decent and they said they could install it in a day. We set up an appointment for Wednesday. The day before the appointment, I receive a call saying the installers were on their way and would arrive at 3:30 PM. I called back in confusion, because our appointment was for the next day. They apologized and said they would come the next day. The next day I receive an automated call at 7:30 AM saying the installers would be there at some point, but they couldn't guarantee a time. I get a call at 11:30 saying the installers were on their way and would be here in an hour. Fine, though the salesman said they would arrive early. The two men arrive and begin working.

Couple hours later the one who speaks English calls for me, and he says "Hey I need to ask a favor." I look in my driveway, and the van they arrived in has a flat tire. They ask me if there are any tire places nearby, and I tell them there is. They ask for a ride. I have no idea what their situation is, if they have AAA or insurance through Empire or what, so I agree to take them to a nearby Tire Warehouse. We drive, pick up a tire, and I loan them my jack, because they didn't bring a jack or a spare tire. They change the tire and get back to work.

The work progresses. 8 PM passes, and they're still working. 9 PM, and I still hear the table saw and the air compressor going. 10 PM, 11 PM...still using a table saw outside and still installing flooring. I live in a residential area, and I was starting to feel sorry for my neighbors because they're using loud power tools past 11 PM. At 11:15 after I hear the saw going off I go down and tell them they need to keep the power tool usage to a minimum. At 11:30 they tell me they ran out of the wood trim for the floor and asked if they could use white trim for the closet. I tell them to go ahead. I'm not happy with the situation, but I don't want to make it last longer. They install the last of the trim and leave with apologies for the time. I walked around my floor after, and there were a couple areas where there was a pronounced bump in the flooring. All in all, a terrible experience and I will never do business with this company again.

I had carpeting and linoleum put down at home and opted for Empire Today due to the fact that they would bring samples to me and that they were quick. I also bought from them before, so I knew what to expect. The rep brought in two little pads of choices and since they didn't have a lot of choices, you kinda have to be fine with only one or two ideas. I was not very happy with the selection, but we found one that we wanted. The buying experience was okay. However, I had a lot of problems during installation that I'm not sure if I would use Empire again.

I had used Empire many times before, but this is the first time in Florida to use them. The linoleum guys were great, but the carpet guys were terrible. The carpet guys didn't bring enough carpet the first day. Then they broke the transition pieces between the carpet and the linoleum and said that it wasn't their problem to fix it. They were really creepy about giving my credit card number, too. After about five days, Empire finally made it right and sent a guy out that did a good job. He was very respectful and nice. But it was like since they already got my business and my money, they took their time on fixing the problem. So, I was disappointed in that.

The quality of the carpet is terrible. It's staining already and it has only been a couple of weeks. I wasn't very happy with it. I was told it's guaranteed for 10 years, and that they would give me a copy of what I have to do to keep the guarantee but they didn't do that. I asked the installer for it, but he said he doesn't do that. But then he turned around and made me sign something that said he gave me the warranty information. I asked him why would I sign it if he was not giving me the warranty information, and he said he doesn't know what I was talking about. He also said that he didn't even read it and that I should just sign it so he could go. I had to call corporate twice to get a copy of the warranty, and it still hasn't come in the mail. So, I'm not impressed.

Cannot get an itemized invoice. We had Empire install carpet and laminate installed in a rental property we owned. At the time, they were holding a promotion of buy one room, get two rooms for $50 each. The estimate seemed high and we questioned the sales rep. He indicated it was the right amount and said we would see all of that on the itemized statement/contract. When we received our signed copy of the contract..it showed the estimate amount..but no itemization. I have been on the phone with Empire Today Customer service six times now, trying to get an itemized statement so that we can verify that we did get the promotion and were charged correctly. The first time I called, they said, "No problem, we will email it to you." All we received was another copy of the contract with just the total as was given us as an estimate. Second call, "oh..we are so sorry..we will email it to you". We never received it.

Third call, "Well, they were supposed to email it to you, I can see that. But we do not have an email on file for you". I confirmed my email on both previous calls. This same person then asked me, "Oh, is your email address" and proceeded to read my email address. So she said she would email it to me again. Fourth call..again "Oh, we are very sorry, here, let me send it over right now." I waited on the phone with the customer service rep, but no email came through. So I asked her to mail me a copy which she said she would do. Three weeks have passed and no itemized invoice in the mail. Fifth call.."Oh well, we don't have that information available here. I see that you financed your carpet through " ". You need to call them. They will have an itemized invoice..we don't have it here". I disagreed with her and said, "I don't believe they will have that info"..and she assured me they would.

Called the credit card company..of course they didn't have it. Called Empire back and spoke with another customer service rep..she couldn't come up with it and told me her supervisor advised her to tell me they do not have access to that information. I asked to speak with her supervisor..her supervisor told me that they can only provide the contract with the estimate/quote on it and that all the estimates are the same. I told her that was not possible because people have different size rooms, buy different products, etc. I also said that they must have the information because how else could they produce a quote. The supervisor said she would contact our local office and ask them to contact me.

I simply cannot believe that they cannot supply me with the detailed information to support the total they charged me..and at this point, it makes me suspicious that they are hiding something. Great product..good installation service..but I should be able to see what they are charging me for specifically with regards to the promotional "sale" we purchased under. Very frustrated and at this point..would not recommend this company to anyone.

I wasted my entire day waiting around for a completely unprofessional, unreliable salesperson from this company.

I was told I could go ahead and reschedule and they would offer me a whole $100.00 off my order. Seriously, why would I want to waste my time, reschedule and give this unprofessional company another two hour window. I was told a sales manager would contact me the next business day. Well that is tomorrow. I informed the supervisor that my time is just as valuable to me. I should bill them for my time of waiting around all day. He suggested that I ask if there were any extra pieces from the workman in case I ever need them for future repairs to the flooring. We had carpet remnants. Overall, the flooring is fine. But I didn’t realize that with the laminate, I gotta be careful. It started showing indentation marks from the kitchen chairs and stuff. I didn’t know I had to put stuff on the bottom of the chairs. A friend of mine used Empire in North Carolina and had very good results. My friend said the pricing was very good and I was already gonna go that way. I knew what I wanted to get done and it was a pretty quick sale. We did all the prep work. I took all the old carpet out that had been in for 40 years. I had four rooms and a 13-stair carpeted hallway. Everything went well. My salesperson was fine. The people that came in to do the work didn't always speak very good English so sometimes communication was a little bit difficult, but they knew what they were doing. They were fast and efficient.

Empire did a beautiful job with the installation. I love the finished result. It was like a new install for them. We didn’t get much off for doing all of the prep work though. I thought maybe more should have come off. But Empire did take all the old carpet and I'm grateful for that. The only thing was I was expecting some scuff marks, but I thought they did an excessive amount of damage on the woodworks in the room. I had wood and paint and all that kind of stuff. Once you have a light colored flooring in, it's hard to go back and to paint because you're paranoid you're gonna get something somewhere. They could have put some plastic over the banisters and done a little prep like when you go to get your car done and put a mat down to prevent some of the damage that could have been prevented. The packing of the carpet is very scratchy and that can definitely scuff walls and wooded areas.

But I was able to fix everything. I just would have felt bad had it been some older couple that would have hired painters then had to have all those people come back out to fix what had happened. In my case, it probably took a day to fix everything that was damaged like the wood that had to be resanded and restained. There was a lot. But the end result was very good for the carpet itself. I look at my flooring now and I'm happy with what happened. I like that my flooring is all the same color carpet throughout. The carpet is great. I got what I ordered. I would recommend Empire to a friend, but I would definitely let them understand what they would get so there would be no surprise at the end.

There was one guy working and then the other guy didn’t come back until about 3 o’clock. They were at my house until 8:15 on a Friday night.

There were problems with the installation. It was just kinda poor work. There was a little gap where it meets the wall. There was a nail sticking out of the step which I cut my foot on. When the guy fixed the nail in the wall on the stairs, I ran my finger over it and it’s still there. I could still feel it. He said, “Oh, you’re always gonna get nails.” But I don’t buy that. Why should I be stepping on nails when I paid a lot of money for this? They also put the wrong trim in. There was one area where they cut the molding or the trim was too long in the area. I called about this and it took a long time to get someone to call back. I finally got in touch with Jameson and he was very helpful. He told me they'd have somebody come out but they didn’t show up the day they were supposed to come out.

They came on a Saturday morning and only did a partial job. They said, “Oh, well. We can’t fix that. That’s not our job. We didn’t do that. And we don’t have the equipment so someone else is gonna have to come back.” They were supposed to come back yesterday at 3:30. I came home to like 3 messages on my machine. Empire called. The installer also called and said to call them back right away. I called Empire and they said I was gonna have to reschedule. I told them our plan was for 3:30. The supervisor said they don’t make appointments at 3:30. They have a 4-hour window.

Now, they are supposed to come Friday morning. We’ll see if they fix my problems, but I don’t have much faith. I don’t like the fact that I’m paying money for something that I’m not even happy with. We've been using Empire since I was young - in my apartments, in my homes, when I lived in New Jersey and when we moved out to Pennsylvania. I used them several times that’s why I returned to them. Now, I will never, ever, and nor will I ever recommend them.

I would suggest people don’t go through Empire. It seems like they spend a lot of money on their commercials. They’ll come out right away but when it comes to the actual contract work, the people do shabby work then they just leave. They don’t even speak English. It’s just very aggravating. I lost at lot of time off at work for this and the job is still not done. I don’t like losing money from work. That makes the project cost even more money, and I shouldn’t be paying that. And the guy I spoke to yesterday was saying it’s not their fault that I have to take off from work. I told him it is their fault that I have to take off from work because if it was done correctly the first time, then I wouldn’t have to take off additional time. It’s a terrible experience.

Our salesman told us that the crew putting in the flooring are employees. They are not employees, they are subcontractors. I do not appreciate being lied to!!! I should have told him no a couple more times to see how much less it would have cost or went with a subcontractor to begin with. While the crew were here I called my salesman about my bed being too large. The salesman had seen it at time of the sale and I had asked if we need to take it apart, we were told it would make it into excessive furniture.

Called salesman and left message, the office would call me, problem is, that is not how I was told it would go. Still waiting to hear back from Josh (the salesman). At least it wouldn't be a lie to call and say "sorry I didn't bother after collecting money, I don't care if you're happy with your floor, money is all that matters." Ask about your steps before you sign, that is if you're sure you're not being lied to. Our steps are not flat at the front, they are sort of like a flatter version of a baseboard. It is not pleasant walking on our steps. You need to be very careful if you're in any raised shoe. Barefoot is definitely not pleasant. I wish I knew what I know now.

I've had carpet put in before and I had done some installation myself. I've seen the Empire Today commercials everywhere and it fit the bill for me. It was very comparable to other brands. When I got the quote, everything was spot on. The calls before the guy came when he showed up, I am really a stickler with that kind of stuff. Empire did everything they said they were gonna do at the price they were gonna do so it was good. I like everything about the carpet and the LVT I purchased. I thought the padding was gonna be a little bit thicker. It is standard and it’s fine.

I called two days before to say that I have a 4 by 4 closet downstairs and if they could add that to the order. The guy said that it would be $183. I thought it’s a little closet, they could just count it as another room and probably with the waste they had, they wouldn’t have to order more carpet. I thought they could add that on there and it wouldn’t be so as expensive. I didn’t end up getting that done. I'm not gonna pay that for a tiny closet when one of the bedrooms is $50. But overall, I'm 100% satisfied.

Empire Today's price was good and their product's quality is good as well. Two bedrooms in our home received carpet, and then the vinyl was installed in the dining room, living room and the hall. The guys that were doing the vinyl explained to me what was going to go on and the process of it. But the carpet guys came in, did their thing, and left. I was like, "Okay." But they didn't waste any time. The only thing that I have noticed is when they did the vinyl floor, they put glue under my walls and baseboards, and I can't get that off. But other than that, everything was good. I like that our new flooring is stain resistant because I have a dog. And I like the colors, too.

Empire Today was phenomenal and they did an excellent job. But the only hang up was when their call center was calling to confirm an appointment. I booked an appointment online and then I got a follow-up call, but I could barely understand the woman who called me. I had to listen to her message six times. I was nervous after I talked to the call center. I thought it was gonna be a bad experience. Then the guy that was gonna come was running late. He called and was a really nice guy. He sent Shelly who came out to measure and show us the carpet. She was phenomenal and the two installers were great. They were nice and they worked their butts off. They came early to the time and were in and out of here in a very timely fashion. They did my whole house and they did a beautiful job.

Our old carpet was a cream color, which was absolutely beautiful, but I have two big dogs, a large yard, a pool, a hot tub, and my husband, who is a mechanic. So I couldn't do cream carpet anymore. We needed a darker carpet. We had the carpeting done with the 30-year warranty. It's really nice and it suits what we need. The color is awesome and I've raved about the carpet to everybody. I heard some horror stories about other flooring companies and I didn't wanna go through any of that. Empire Today made it super simple. They came out and measured. Then I put $1,000 down and then I just paid them another 500. And I'm gonna pay it off.

I picked out the middle kind, and he got me the color that I really wanted. It wasn’t the lowest grade and it wasn’t the highest grade either, but it was nice very looking. The sales rep was great at his job. He was very personable and friendly.

It was raining on the day the carpet was supposed to be installed, and I didn't have a garage. So the installer came in and took the exact measurements so he could go back to the shop and cut it. And then he came back the very next day, and the installation took just a few hours. I was in the middle of remodeling, and the installer offered to help me carry some stuff out to the curb that was heavy. So he was really friendly.

The middle buckle and lift is very noticeable and looks horrible. I have been given nothing but a hard time, had to wait for someone from their so called complaints dept. to call me on the issue, finally after receiving a callback, they scheduled an installer to come and repair. I was advised they would come in the afternoon, also advised they cannot give time windows, so I cancelled all plans I had for the day and waited, called and was told I was the last stop on the route and they would not be able to be at my home until 6:30-7:00 pm and no one ever showed up!!!

Needless to say I am very angry and I have since contacted the BBB for help on seeking a full refund, this should not have happened on a brand new carpet installed less than one year ago. When I expressed how upset I was the customer service rep hung up on me, extremely unprofessional company that clearly does not stand by the products they sell. They are quick to sell and take your money though. Please take my advice and find someone else to use. If I could have used no stars at all I would have done so.

We had Empire Today install linoleum in the kitchen and the bathroom, and rugs in our bedroom and family room. It was the entire downstairs that was covered and was done. We've been a repeat customer of Empire Today. They also did the linoleum upstairs in the kitchen and in the two bathrooms upstairs. And they also put it on our enclosed porch carpeting. We were happy with the results and with the price. They did a good job. We have no complaints about that.

The only complaint we have was I told them the extent of the carpeting and linoleum downstairs, so we had to take everything out of one room and move it to another. And then, everything out of the kitchen moved to the family room, and then, everything from the family room back into the kitchen. They gave us a start date for the rug of Saturday. Saturday came and went, but they never showed up. So, the main problem was we had to do all this shoehorning everything, and live with it, until we could get in touch with them.

We had a hard time getting in touch with somebody. We had to call our salesman that came and did the measuring. He called us back and he got it straightened out for us. We knew the product was in the warehouse because they told us it came on Wednesday, or should’ve been put on an order for installation for Saturday ‘cause it was already in there, and somebody neglected to do it. So, that was a little bit of an inconvenience. But they came. They did it and did a beautiful job.

The salespeople were very good too. We had Roman for the first time, and he did an excellent job. We had a painter come to paint the kitchen. And when he moved out the refrigerator, he ripped the linoleum. We had to have it redone. And Roman was the man that took care of that for us. MacDonald was the salesman the second time around. He did an excellent job too, and we were very pleased with what he did for us. Empire doesn't have a wide selection but we’ve always managed to find something that we liked, that we were very happy with. I would recommend them to anybody else.

Purchasing with Empire Today was fine. I've used them in the past and also on my rentals. We're satisfied with the purchase and with the install. The sales rep was great. She answered all our questions and she was very thorough. I was quite surprised and happy about it. We had two installers come out, one for the upstairs, then we were going to have hardwood flooring put into the basement. Unfortunately, because of an unleveled basement, we were not able to put a hardwood floor so we went ahead and just had carpet put in.

We had a different installer on the second install, and we were so unhappy with the way that they handled things. They were so rude to my wife and there was a language barrier. If I was home, I would've kicked them out of my house. We made complaints to the installing company and, "Well, just leave them alone," was his response to it. I was really not satisfied with the installment but everything else was perfectly fine. On our first install, they were great, efficient, and on time.

The house was just built and the Empire guy came in tearing the carpet, but he didn’t ask if I wanted to preserve it. We talked about that and he said his job was to come in and replace the carpet. I told him I understand that, but given this is totally a new community that they're in and he can see that they’re still building houses around me, why would he just rip the carpet up? I had wood laminate put in my great room and on my stairs going up to the second floor. I had nine stairs done. I had a bridge that walks from the staircase over to the second floor and the hallway between the bedroom and the bathroom upstairs done too. The flooring looks very nice. I am very pleased with the look and with the choice of amber walnut. But I was supposed to have something pet-friendly. It wasn’t supposed to scratch easily if my pet was on it. My dog came in one time and ran through the room. When he got to turning around, there were these deep scratches or gouges in the floor. We had to order a gate and ban him from the room. We had to put a gate to separate our great room from the foyer to the kitchen.

I called Empire Today and told them about it. I got a couple of different reference numbers for my case and nothing happened. They had the salesman eventually come out. He squatted and looked at it and shook his head. He couldn’t believe it and was amazed. I asked when will I hear from them and he said in a couple of days. I never heard back from him. I called again and that was when I got somebody who said they’d send out an inspector. The inspector came out on the 28th, and he looked at it. He took a sample and he also had this acetone product with him. He got down, took a rag, and buffed it and scrubbed it with that acetone. He put two drops down for the scratches. He rubbed, and rubbed, and rubbed, and rubbed the scratches out. I told him it was ridiculous.

He said he repaired it. I told him what he did was rub off the top layer of the laminate, and I’m still stuck with the same product throughout the rest of my house, except that he just took off the top layer, the coating for those areas where the scratches were. I took pictures of the products he used to rub it. I asked him when he left if he was gonna get back. He said he was going to in a couple of days and I didn’t hear back anything. So I called yesterday and that was when I asked to speak to a supervisor. I spoke to her and she said she was gonna refer it to a local office then I will hear back from a Mandy.

There’s no problem with the carpeting. They did an excellent job. I’m pleased with what I’ve picked. It looks good, it feels good, and the guys were good. But for the wood laminate, the guys didn’t clean up after themselves. Other than not cleaning up after themselves, I was pleased with it until I found out it scratches and it’s not what I ordered. I called Wells Fargo and put a dispute. I don’t have to pay that until it gets resolved.

We had floors installed 2.5 years ago. We had nothing but problems with the installation. After they were installed, we noticed that our floors were coming up, so I contacted Empire and they sent a person out. We were told we had moisture problems, and that if we wanted them to fix it, we'd have to pay. We already paid $7000! We knew the floors had been installed incorrectly, so we had a third party out. They did say flooring was uneven and not properly installed. We were also told that our floors were cheap laminate and definitely NOT waterproof as the salesperson had told us. We even paid "extra" for waterproof. We contacted Empire back to no avail. I've been contacting them regularly as more flooring is coming up.

I eventually had someone call me and they sent another inspector out. He had a small level and told me that our floors were level and the flooring coming up was normal! He then agreed that something may be wrong, and agreed to re do portions of the floor. They set up an appt to come out between 8 - 10 am on a Saturday. I got everyone out of the house and waited!! Finally got a call from the inspector saying his installer was tied up on another job and they couldn't get to us!! Later that afternoon the inspector sent another installer out to see what he could do. He came in with his level, looked at the floors, and said he couldn't do anything, and that the WHOLE floor needed to be replaced! He put his level down everywhere, and it's uneven EVERYWHERE!

He went on to tell me that the reason the floors were coming up was because they were hit against each other too hard and peaked. He also said that our floors were NOT waterproof like we were told and paid for. Still my floors are not fixed. Can't reach the inspector as his message box is always full. When he calls and leaves a message, he says not all our floors need to be replaced. We've had nothing but problems from day one with the salesperson lying to us to now, yet again, no communication or help. Our floors need to be replaced with the kind of floor we paid for.

I have taken the proper care measures, there are only two people in my house. I have purchased carpet for other home in the past and didn’t end up with this result. (My first Time with Empire.) I know how Empire has been in business so long....selling poor quality at a high price. I purchased with Empire because I thought I was not only getting great quality but also 100% satisfaction!? I’m not sure why I was told two different stories...it’s clear to me "No satisfaction" should be your company slogan. I will use all public consumer sites to ensure no one experiences what I did!

Updated on 07/12/2019: I received no refund even after complaining about their declining to install flooring. They said they would investigate my complaint but I had no response. To keep my deposit when they refused the installation is unconscionable. Will not do business with them in the future.

Original review: I ordered engineered hardwood flooring to be installed over a concrete slab in my home. The sales representative assured me that this installation was routine. The installers said that there was too much moisture in the slab and hardwood could not be installed. I was offered either ceramic or carpeting in its place neither of which was acceptable. I asked for a refund of my deposit on the project and was told that they would not refund my deposit. I will not recommend this company and feel that their retainer of the deposit is unconscionable.

I had carpet and laminate flooring installed by Empire in March of 2019. Start of June and a piece of trim had popped up in the middle becoming a tripping hazard in high traffic area of my home. I called to schedule an appointment to have the flooring fixed. The soonest appointment was 2 weeks away with a time window between 8am and 6pm. On the day of my appointment I received and automated call confirming the service, but no one ever showed. When I called customer service to find out what happened, I was told there was a scheduling conflict and material was unavailable for the installer (two weeks after I made the appointment, mind you).

When I was called to have the service appointment rescheduled, the next best time they could provide me was another two weeks away. I find this ridiculous and I feel that after they messed up they should have made things right by making the repair a higher priority. I now have to waste another day off to wait around at home for someone to maybe come and fix the flooring. Very frustrated customer and would not recommend Empire to anyone.

I looked at another company but I would have to drive out to them and I didn’t wanna make that drive because it was a good 45 minutes to an hour based on traffic. Empire was a little more convenient because they came to the house. The customer service was great. I was initially gonna get hardwood and then, they showed me engineering hardwood and all the different products, so I went with the vinyl. It was within my budget. I had it installed in one room and the two gentlemen were very pleasant. They came out and did what they needed to do. It was really hot and I kept offering something to drink but they wouldn’t take any. I’m very satisfied and I would use Empire again for another room.

All in all, Empire's reps were exactly as advertised. They came in, showed me the flooring samples, and didn't try to upsell me. They were very courteous and fair in pricing, too. We had carpet done in the living room, in the hallway, and in two bedrooms. And then we had kind of a tile product put into a family room and a kitchen. We wanted them to somewhat match and they do. It completely changed the look of the downstairs of this house. Empire Today sent out a nice group of people to do the installation. They were very efficient. They got two complete rooms finished in a day, and it was much less expensive than we had noted from many other places that we looked.

We looked at all of the major home stores that were local, and then we went to a couple of privately-owned carpet and rug stores and tile stores, and Empire still came out less expensive. We were a little surprised how thin the tile was, but it laid down beautifully and it looks terrific. We looked at many different levels of carpeting. The carpet that we got was probably less well-made as some of them that we looked at, but they also put it in an absolutely wonderful pad. So, it is a very cushioned walk when you go through the house, and it is well worth it.

The color that we were able to find that kinda matched between the tile and the carpeting helped. It was amazing from the time we bought it till the time that we were gonna have it put in because there was no time delay. They put it down so professionally. You cannot even tell that there was any cuts in the carpeting at all, which they had to do around a closet. And some different things turned out great.

The quality of Empire's product was also better than the other brands I looked into though the cost was pretty much the same. Empire's sales rep was also very professional. She knew her stuff and there was no pressure. It was just right. I had the new flooring installed in all three bedrooms and two walk-in closets of our home and the installers were amazing. We’ve used Empire Today so many times in the past. And because we had just moved into this house and I was trying to get carpet as quickly as possible and get it in, we used them again. We did a variety of things. We did two different types of carpet, one in the basement and one upstairs. And then, we did our flooring. We tried hardwood flooring in the basement area, but we ended up going with like a laminate. The hardwood wouldn’t work.

We had gotten some other estimates, and I thought that Empire's price was not necessarily cheaper, but it was comparable with other quotes we were getting. The salesman did fine. He showed us everything we wanted to see and had some ideas. But with the installation, we had trouble with carpet in the basement, and also, with the hardwood we were trying to install, so that part was a little frustrating. We had to have some repair work done. We have radiant heating in the cement floor of the basement, and everything had been glued. They went to do like a threshold going into our storage room, and they pounded a nail with a strip in there, sort of nailing it. And they punctured the water main, so they had water going everywhere. I had to have a plumber come and fix it all, and they had to dig out the cement. It was kind of expensive. I’m hoping it gets credited because I’m out like $1,400.

I’m a little frustrated with the customer service at Empire, but I like what I ultimately got. And they were so nice. They said, “Yes, we’ll replace it for you, not a problem. We’ll refund you. Just let me know ‘cause we need to get your invoice and get it fixed.” So, I did immediately, and I couldn't get anybody to return a phone call. I tried like five times. I finally blew a fuse at them, and demanded that they credit me immediately. It was ridiculous. I thought the customer service stunk. The refund wasn’t on my last credit card statement. They were supposed to credit the credit card. And it had time to get on there, but it wasn't on there. So, I’m hoping next month it’s on there because I had to go back and try and find somebody that will help me. It’s like pulling teeth.

Empire needs to ask the right questions. Like in basement carpeting, they should ask, “Is there radiant heating? Is there anything we need to be careful of?” It’s probably not a great idea to sell hardwood floors to a basement. And somebody that’s experienced would have known that. But they tried to lay it, and it wasn't even. The cement’s not totally even, so it doesn't lay. It kinda was a salesman issue and was inexperience when they pounded the nail into the radiant heating. Still, ultimately, I like the carpet that we’ve got, and the end result has been fine.

We're gonna sell our house in about a year. I wanted a flooring that would resist stains better than what we previously had. Empire had a sale going when I looked online so I got our flooring from them. It was easy to schedule the installation. But unfortunately, they scratched my hardwood when they moved the furniture. It was like one big gash in one of the boards. I had asked previously for them to move the furniture if they had rollers and they said yes, but they didn’t. When they were done, they didn’t mention anything about scratching the hardwood flooring to me. I noticed it after they left.

Empire has to make sure that the company uses rollers when they move furniture so they won't scratch the hardwood again. They also might have bashed part of my wall and it has wallpaper on it. It was either them or the cleaning service that I used. So, I'm kinda disappointed with the situation of the house. They also have to inspect the premises before and after they come in the rooms that they're working on. For instance, we had some problems with plugging things into the correct outlets. At least, they had the door replaced. I was having some problems with the door, and found out one of the things they had unplugged for Empire to install, it had to be plugged into a different plug after they left. Also there was a man and a woman and the woman seemed like she was either junior or I wouldn’t say lazy, but something similar on that line. He did a lot more work than she did.

I paid to have the carpet rip out, dispose, and clean out, but we ended up doing the vacuuming and my son had to bring in a lot of the carpets in and pull some of the carpets out. The finish on areas that are not high traffic areas started to peel off!! We are a no pet/no shoes home and I only use the cleaner that was recommended by Empire. I called someone to come in and look at it which was not easy as they were out twice to take photographs and video of the boards just freely being pushed apart with his hands!! We have an in house humidifier and have always had our system serviced on a plan every few months. No humidity issues! The tech they sent out told me that the boards should in no way be sliding apart and not locking and the finish on the flooring had a ten year warranty and shouldn't be coming off. He took pictures of my in house humidifier and my service dates attached to the side of it.

Long story short he said he was filing the claim with the manufacturer for the finish. Over a month later we had to call them to get information on what was going on with it. Turns out the guy lied to me and filed the claim saying we had a humidity problem!! Would you be happy with their service?? We have had carpeting installed by them and have been happy with the result but we are furious that we spent thousands of dollars for this to happen and then get left with horrible looking floors!

I don’t have an issue with the pad. It looked like a nice pad and it did say pet-proof on it. But with the rug, there was no indication of pet anything on it. We foster puppies, and it seems that it goes right through the rug. There doesn’t seem to be any pet barrier on it whatsoever.

When the installers were here, there were three guys that showed up and two of which didn’t speak any English. I couldn’t communicate with them. The other guy spoke broken English/Spanish, and I was able to communicate a few things to him. The other thing the salesman said was the installers only work for Empire. So I asked him if he just worked for Empire. He told me no and that they contract jobs from Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Empire. So, I didn’t like getting lied to about being specific to Empire. He told me it would take about two weeks because the blinds had to be custom-made.

About two weeks went by and I hadn’t heard anything so I called them again, and left a message. He called me back right away and said that the blinds just came in. They came out three days later to install them. Overall, I’m satisfied, except that it took nine days for it to get in the system and I don’t understand. Other than that, everything was fine.

I bought laminate floors and the border from Empire Today, and it was installed in the living room, the hallway and the dining room. I like the ease of cleaning and I just use the special stuff. The installation went very well and the installers came on time and did the work. They explained things as they were doing it. Preparing the floor, they told me what to expect and what they had to do. They moved things around and got the house in order. I had no complaints with the work and the way it was done. It was very professional. People should go ahead and use Empire Today because I used them and I was very satisfied. I’ve already told people in the family and friends.

Empire Today has a lot of commercials, and I knew somebody who had a floor put in and they noted it on Facebook that they were happy with the job. We had one local hardwood guy come out and he wasn’t gonna move furniture so when Empire came in and said they would do all that, we went with them. I bought Armstrong hardwood and it’s supposed to be guaranteed forever for finishes.

The sales guy was great and he was very nice. He sat with us for quite a while and we went over a couple of different products. Then, the two installers were extremely good. I changed my install date because my furniture was gonna be all new, so the flooring install was dependent on the furniture delivery. So, they worked very seamlessly with that and we were able to change dates easily, so that was a huge thing. Once the furniture went out, it wasn’t coming back in. We also needed to beef up our sub floor so the installation took a day longer than expected but that was something we couldn't see because we had carpeting down. We had the flooring put in at the end of May and it just requires vacuuming then mopping up like any other wood floor.

It was gonna be done in one day and they had availability to be done when it was convenient for us. So it worked out. The boys who came were young and they did surprisingly well. They were respectful, quiet and neat. They cleaned up after themselves and it was quick. They did their job while they were there and they were in and out. It was not much of a headache at all. It was a good experience overall. The carpet looks good too. I have a lot of friends who are buying or investing homes and I always recommend Empire.

I've tried to hire Empire Today for two jobs. For the job that they completed, everything went perfect. I bought some carpet from them and they did 5 rooms. They showed up on time and got it done on time. It was a very smooth and quick transaction. Everyone was polite which is why I tried to use them again for the entire house. They finally came out and measured. But now, I can't get the guy to get me a call back. It's been weeks and he doesn't really respond. It's irritating 'cause I have other things to do than chase somebody down. I'm a single mom with 5 kids so I really don't have time for hiccups.

I was actually not going to use them because I just read of bunch of bad reviews and there weren't very many good ones. But I ended up using them because of people that I knew that I talked to. They all said their experiences were very good and that they may be a little bit more pricey, but it's worth it because it's like a one-stop shop and everything is handled for you.

They did the job really well, and cleaned up afterwards. The carpet was put in correctly with no seams. Everything is cleared, and it is pretty flush against the wall. It was a good end-to-end experience. I like the fact that they came to show me the samples and get everything done right.

We had been researching flooring for our home and finally settled on Empire Today highly due to the buy 1 room get the other rooms for $50 because we had a living room, 3 bedrooms, hallways, & kitchen to do. I made an appointment for the free in home estimate and was pleasantly surprised on just how helpful he was. He assured me that our project that was well worth of $11,000 would be completed in 2 days or less. They like to under promise and over deliver. His words exactly. So we made arrangements to have our kids and dog out of the house for 2 days to get the work done. Fast forward to install day, after spending 2 weeks prepping our house for the work we were finally ready. I took off work for 2 days so I could be home. Keeping in mind, if I don't work I don't get paid. I got a call on the 1st install day at 8:15am stating our installers would arrive by noon.

At 12:15 with no installers in sight and no call I called to check on the ETA of the installers. The customer service rep, can't remember her name, was rude and laughed at me when I asked why they had not called to let me know they were running late. She called the installers and they said they would be to my house by 1:30pm. So I waited, an hour later at 1:15pm she called me back and let me know that they would now not be coming at all today. When she asked me about rescheduling I told her that was not possible. We had kids & a dog coming home Friday afternoon and family coming in from out of town on Monday. It had to get done ASAP. She said they would be able to come on Friday and get both our laminate and vinyl tile done in 1 day. So now on Friday I get a call at 7am stating they would be there within 2 hours. Great I thought.

At 9:30am with no installers in sight I called again to see where they were. I find out they will not be to my house until 10:30am. When the installers finally arrived only 1 of them spoke English and when I asked about getting the entire project done in 1 day with only 3 guys he laughed and said, "No. We will be back on Saturday." That was not acceptable to me, but I had to take it. We were between a rock and a hard place at this point. I called our sales rep and he of course didn't do anything, but he did say he would lobby for a 30% discount. I called Customer Service to open a discount ticket and they were somewhat helpful. Gave me the reference numbers and said someone would call me within 3-5 business days. It is now 2 weeks later and no call.

So I called today to get the status. I was hung up on 2 times and when I finally got through to someone, I find out that our discount tickets had been closed because the project was completed. So I had to open yet another set of tickets and supposedly someone will call me back within 24 business hours. I'll believe that when I see it. I work and live in a very small community and we all talk about services and ask each other for advice. I will not be telling anyone to ever call Empire Today to install any type of flooring. It was by far the worst home project experience I have ever had. I wouldn't even give them 1 star, but I had to in order to give a review. Completely disappointed.

I was delighted that a sales rep would come out so promptly. I am an Interior designer from UK so no experience with USA companies. I asked the rep to look at 50 sq feet of carpeting, tiny seating area... without measuring or showing me samples he just muttered $500. Hmmm already losing confidence so we moved onto the wooden floor area. I had already measured up. Total sg footage is 370 sq feet. He told me it was 470 Sq feet. I asked him how he got to that. "20 % wastage" he muttered. Well my maths tells me that 370 sq feet +20% is 444 sq feet. The wastage percentage generally applied is 10% not 20%. Of course I have had other quotes and they agreed with me and were based on a measure of 370 sq feet + 10% totaling 407 square feet, not 470.

I was then presented with 3 sample boards so about 21 samples in total (my email said 100's). The quality was shocking. I wasn't told what it was. I had asked for a vinyl board but this could have been painted chip board for all I know. The rep sat there and calculated out a price, with no breakdown of costs, taxes etc. I forget the exact number but to the nearest thousand dollars it was $11,000 and $500 for the carpet but he was going to give me 50% discount... Lucky me. So now a total of $5,500. "No thank you" I said " that is too much". "Oh" he says "let me phone my manager and see what we can do".... Pleeeease I thought this hards ell trick went out in the 1950's! Fortunately for me he went out the car to make the call, so I scooped up his 3 sample boards and briefcase and put them on the doorstep. I was scared that if he got back into the house I would never be able to get him out.

"$500 discount " he muttered on the doorstep. So I'm now down to around $5,000 for a product which is totally unknown to me, vinyl, engineered solid wood, no idea and it looks like rubbish. "Sadly" I say " I've had 2 quotes for around $3,000" and I watch him shuffle off down the path. The thing is his heart wasn't in it either, he knows that the prices are double, never mind the incorrect measuring which is 65 sq feet out, which is why he didn't even bother to try and sell the product. He used a laser, if you want to be accurate use an old fashioned tape measure. I'm from the UK. In the UK I would be reporting this company to the our Trading standard**ndsmun for sharp practice. So buyer beware, in my humble opinion as an Interior designer you are getting half the quality for twice the price.

Everything with Empire Today went smoothly. The guy that put the carpet in did a good job. We were very pleased. We've got wood floors, and it was put in the steps. They were old steps, and I really didn't wanna do that, but my daughter and grandchild came down, and he slipped on the steps. He went down on his back, and I thought that child broke his back. And so I said, "That's it. I'm calling to get carpet put over." You can slip on carpet, but it's not as easy. I don't like the looks of it, though because I like the old, but it's safety that matters.

My husband was over here when the carpet man came and he picked it out with him, and it's not what I would've picked out. What he did was bring the same brand that was that cheap stuff upstairs. But then, he brought one that was two steps up. That stuff upstairs was like $2. I could've killed him. I said, "What in the world?" I don't want carpet this small when I fold it and I like to upgrade my padding. And it was so funny, when I asked the guy if it is cheap carpet, he said, "Yup." But we got good service and we're happy.

I talked to one of the decorators there, Tracy, and she was telling me we're having this black stuff that's popping up all over the carpet and the doors, and nobody really knows what it is. But it seems like it's coming from the heat pump. So, we asked somebody to clean it, and my husband got in there and cleaned it and got it out as best he could, and we're waiting to see if it's gonna come back. If it does, we'd zap the carpet again.

Empire's salesman was really nice and very helpful. And we don't have any complaints. Also, we paid the guys to stretch the carpet for us upstairs. I'm in a situation where I got crippled and I'm not walking good. So, with them coming out here, it was so much easier for me. And we were pleased with the whole thing around. I'd use Empire again.

We inquired with them about it but we weren’t offered that. The rep said that it was just something to get him in the house. The guy who came out and did everything was nice and we asked him about the advertisement and he said that it was to get us to come out. Then, the guy who did the hardwood floor said that he needed to call us first and so, we just said, “Forget it,” because we knew nothing would ever come out of it anyway. If someone would ask me, I’m gonna tell them that that offer to “Get one room done and the other room free” is not true.

I had the laminate floors installed in the living room and the carpet in the den. The guys did a good job and they were great. They cleaned up their mess. The floor is nice and it looks better. I selected a bluish, gray color for the carpet and I love it. Some friends of mine used Empire so I figured I would go with them too. Their prices were reasonable. A sales guy came to show me the carpet samples and he showed me the top-of-the-line, the center one, and the end ones. I told him I wouldn't really need anything top-of-the-line because it wouldn't be like I have heavy traffic. It’s only me up there and I have no dogs or children. I didn't want the low-grade carpet either. In the end, I went with the in-between. It was just as nice as the high-grade one.

The installers came on time and they laid everything down. They were clean and neat about everything. They were very good. Everything just ran so smoothly and nicely. There was a guy who was always watching an installer do things like how he cut the old carpet. They rolled it up and they brought it outside to the curb. I could see how the guy had experience in doing that. He kinda laid the carpet down himself and these were in big rooms. My living room and dining were also L-shaped. The work took three hours which was expected. The guy did what he had to do. Everything that Empire did was the way it should have been done. In the end, a girl vacuumed which was sweet.

As soon as I got my statement with Empire, I said I would be paying it off probably full by next month. Other than that, I love my carpet. I would recommend Empire to somebody who is looking to get either floors or rugs. I didn’t go with the wooden floors because it was a little bit pricey and I was on a budget. But I’m glad I opted for the carpets.

This is the second time using Empire. The first time they were prompt and courteous and installed the product (luxury vinyl plank flooring) in two rooms. It was a great experience. The second experience the salesman says he can match the plank flooring with a similar product. What he should have told us was that he could not match that flooring. If we wanted that flooring we should have done less rooms if doing all the rooms were cost prohibitive. Kudos to the installers. On day two of the installation and day three of installation they noticed huge color variances that did not match what was sent nor what we were trying to match. On day two installers went back to get new materials since this was not a batch materials mistake. Same problem continued on day three and the installer supervisor comes to look at the issue.

Finally, I was told Empire would call me and the salesman who sold us the flooring would call. I spoke to customer service (basically took my complaint). Never spoke to salesperson. It's been 5 days. Old carpet remains in my front yard, baseboards in my backyard, mastek on floors but nothing else. Best of all they have my money and won't communicate with me.

We're putting our home on the market and needed to make sure we had brand new carpet. I did some online shopping and found that Empire was able to install carpet in the timeframe that I was needing as well as within the price range that I wanted. Also, we're in Waco and though there are smaller companies that are able to do carpet install, most of them have to come out of the city to do that.

The rep was wonderful. She walked me through the whole thing and she was really thorough. Then the two men that came to do the install did an amazing job. They were in and out very quickly. I do work remotely from home and they were very kind to be thinking of that and tried to be as little distractive as possible. They did a great job. They installed carpeting in three bedrooms and it looks great. It's been low traffic within the home since the install but it seems to be holding up very well.

    Original Review: June 17, 2019

In 2018, we hired Empire Today to install a carpet in a large, 2-room basement area of the empty home we’d just purchased. The installers charged us $600 for new padding, but never installed the padding. They put new carpet over the old padding and kept our money. We discovered this the following winter, when water damage forced us to pull up a small section of the new carpet. Empire informed us that the entire carpet needed to be replaced if we wanted to keep our warranty. This was a huge problem because the basement was now fully-furnished and contained over $50,000 of fragile electronic equipment which would have to be moved. After a fight, Empire agreed to do the re-installation for free.

Since we didn’t trust a carpet crew to move the very expensive equipment while they worked, we agreed on a 2-day installation. We would clear one room for them on day 1, then move all of the equipment to the first room, clearing the second room for them to work before they arrived on day 2. No problem. They arrived on day 1 and completed the first room, but they didn’t leave. The carpet crew proceeded to move all of that equipment themselves and finish the second room, completing the job in 1 day for their own convenience. I discovered this only when they were nearly finished. I yelled for them to stop but the foreman literally refused. It was very difficult to communicate with them, they spoke broken English or none at all. Frustrated, I resigned to let them finish the job.

The crew left our belongings in large, disorganized piles throughout the basement, some of which fell over and collapsed. I photographed all of it and notified the company the same day. After several days of inventorying the mess, I discovered several thousand dollars in damages to equipment and furniture. The job itself was notably poorer than the first installation but that’s the least of our concerns, and we’re not allowing this company back into our home for repairs. The company was completely unresponsive to phone calls and emails for weeks at a time. It’s very important to persist throughout this period, which appears to be this company’s standard operating procedure for claims and complaints. It’s now been months and this company continues to deny any wrongdoing – but they’ve offered us a small monetary fraction of the damages “for inconveniences.”

The crew has lied about their conduct and misrepresented the condition of our home in their photographs, using “after” photos as “before” photos (yet neglecting to provide both sets for us). We have photo proof to the contrary, of course, and this will be an easy case in court. But the negligence, fraud, theft and destruction for which Empire Today has been responsible throughout this 10-month ordeal has been tremendously frustrating for us. Find a local crew for your flooring, stay away from Empire.

He did that and I picked out something I wanted. Within a couple of weeks, someone came out and installed carpet in our foyer. It's absolutely beautiful and we have gotten nothing but compliments. I love the design and it makes our kitchen look bigger. I'm very happy with it and we'll call Empire again when we wanna have something done upstairs. I would also recommend them to a friend. In fact, our neighbor next door had Empire do her family room about four years ago. She had me come over and look at it. I like it and the way it looked. That was also a deciding factor for me because she was happy with it.

Updated on 06/29/2019: I'm writing this as a follow up to my last review about this company. When I posted the last review two weeks ago, stating the deficient workmanship and horrible customer service, they immediately called my wife, offering to review the problem and told her someone would contact her to resolve the issue. But, just as I figured, this was just another attempt to try and pacify us into letting this go so they could "sweep in under the rug". So, as a dedicated consumer and responsible business owner, I've decided keep posting updates and let the public know if this company actually cares about their customers and follows up with their projects.

So far, they've done nothing to resolve this issue, and from what I've read from other customers, they don't seem to take ANY responsibility towards their dissatisfied customers. I've repaired their problem at my own cost, which was more than what I paid them to begin with. I'm posting this (2nd) review on this site as well as all other sites that advertise their services. I've been asked by my own customers, for flooring referrals, and I tell them to stay FAR AWAY from Empire Today. Please look for my updated reviews, as I plan on being persistent with my opinions about this low grade company.

Original review: First of all, I want to say that I’ve been in the building trades for 45 years, and have been contractor for the last 24. So I’m not naive when it comes to any type of home improvement project, or my expectations of the final results. When my wife and I moved into our new home in November of 2016, the first thing we decided to do was replace the old flooring in our (very small) kitchen, laundry and 2 small baths. I asked my wife to look up some local flooring companies so we could get estimates for the work. Empire Today sent one of their reps to give us an estimate. The cost was $2,000.00. It seemed a bit pricey, but their assurance of the outcome of the project seemed reasonable. Although they were the highest bid, I didn’t mind paying more for good work.

About 2 weeks later, 2 men showed up to do the job. My first impression was that they didn’t look all that professional in their appearance, but nonetheless, they started the job with no problems. I was away at job sites all day and my wife was in & out as we were moving while the work was done. When I arrived home later that afternoon, the first thing I noticed was quite a few cigarette buts in my driveway and in our landscaping. I went in to see the project, and the guys were wrapping up. The floor looked good, but there were blemishes, dirt and floor glue in several areas of our newly painted walls. When I confronted them about this, they said, “Oh, that will come right off with some household cleaner”. I know better, but figured I would simply let them go since the work was finished and I didn't feel like carrying on with conversation. On leaving, I asked one of the workers, “How long have you been working for Empire Today?”

He said, “Oh, we don’t work for Empire Today, we’re sub-contractors and this is the first job we’ve ever done for them”. That was a red flag to me. As I later researched Empire Today, I came to learn that they are NOT a local company at all, and they sub-contract all their work. Since we reside in Sonoma County (Nor-Cal), I thought we were dealing with Empire Floors, a local, reputable company. Two years later, I started realizing the floor in our 1/2 bath was feeling soft and there was a lot of movement in the toilet. I climbed under the house to find that the subfloor was completely saturated and water was leaking under the entire floor in that area. We hired another contractor to check it out. He removed the toilet and discovered that the wax seal was never replaced from when the flooring was installed, and was not seated properly causing water to leak throughout the floor for over two years.

I called Empire Today to discuss this, and they said they would get back to me. When I finally received a call back (2 weeks later on a Sunday morning), I spoke with Ryan, and I explained the details of this problem. He said that they were not responsible because the 2 week warranty period had expired. I got angry and told him that was unacceptable. The work was not done correctly and there was no way we could possibly have known that within a 2 week period. He told me he would speak with his supervisor and get back to me. I waited 2 more weeks and no contact. I called back his number and left a message saying I wanted to resolve this, and no reply. It has now been 4 weeks and no results, no call back.

We paid Empire Today $2000.00 to install the flooring, and It has cost me $2,600.00 to repair their mistake and re-install the flooring in our 1/2 bath and laundry areas, which required completely removing the old flooring, underlayment and installing all new. Being a contractor/business owner myself, I take a lot of pride in our work and how we handle problems that arise. We ALWAYS take care of our customer’s concerns and do whatever it takes to assure a happy client. Empire Today has shown me that they are a totally dishonest and irresponsible company and should not be deceiving people with unprofessional work. I’m writing this now, but will pursue legal action from here. If I don’t get results, I will continue to spread their bad name to all my fellow contractors and clients, because I feel that a company that operates without good ethics should not be in business.

I had Empire do carpeting and laminate floor in my two bedrooms, loft, and two staircases - one staircase going to the loft and one staircase coming up into the townhouse. This was a couple of weeks ago. The carpet is called Moonbeam and it's lovely carpeting. The quality is very good. However, I just got a total bill and did not get a breakdown. I called Empire and they told me they don't give breakdowns. Not giving a breakdown to me means maybe they took the rest home. A guy wanted to take the leftover material from the loft and I said to him I wanted that. I paid for it.

If you buy a length of carpet, the width is always 12 feet. That's how they run. I was assuming that I have a lot left over. Not that I need all of that, but I thought they'd be enough to at least do the little foyer. I'm in a townhouse and I live on the second floor. This is not a private house. There's a small little foyer when you come in. It's maybe 5x5. With the carpet I got, I only got enough to do the staircase and there was this tiny little strip left. If the carpet is sold in 12-foot width, they only used about 3 feet of it. I'm roughly guessing the staircase is not even 30x30. I asked the installer where the rest of the carpet was and he said that was all there was. He left. I'm really not happy. I don't know what I paid for and I'm very annoyed.

The salesman gave me a blanket price which I thought was quite kind of high. He was a fast-talking salesman that reminded me of a used car salesman. I told him that. He said to me that it all came down to $12,000. But they were not carpeting the White House. It's a condo and the rooms are not that big. He told me he would talk to his manager to see what he could do. This is exactly what a used car salesman does. They go to their manager and shoot the breeze. In the end, the price came down to almost $5,000.

But I just moved in and I needed the job done. I thought the salesman did bring samples to me and Empire advertised on TV that for one room, you get the other room for $50. But the salesman said that was just one style of carpet. That's like one quality of carpet. It was not good. Therefore, it was false advertising. Overall, the installers did a very good job but I don't like the Empire company. I would never use them again and I'm telling all my friends.

I saw a coupon for 75% off and have seen commercials about Empire. I was looking to do laminate in 2 rooms, which was advertised as part of the 75% deal, as long as I schedule free estimate on that day. I scheduled my estimate for 6/11 between 5pm-7pm. Mind you in preparation it says to clear your rooms, so I did just that. 7:11pm, no one showed up, so I called and the customer service lady said, "oh yeah well there were no sales representatives available for that time". Ok, so why did I get a confirmation email of my appointment being confirmed and on top of why did no one notify me about a schedule conflict? She asked if I wanted to reschedule my appointment and for a second I thought, hmm this is not a good sign.

They can't even get this right, but she ensured that this would not happened again and any times after 1pm the next day there was availability, so I agreed (since I already moved my furniture for the first appointment). So, she set me up with an appointment for 6/12 again 5pm-7pm. Well, what do you know, 7:00pm rolls around and no show and no call again. I couldn't believe it. I called customer service and she apologized saying the same thing, that there was a scheduling conflict. I asked the same question - Why couldn't anyone call me? She had no answers, except an apology. She did offer me $50 off my price, that I didn't even have yet mind you...

I told her to forget it and "the only reason why I was calling was out of respect, to let you know they didn't show up and notify you that there seems to be a real problem with your system." I'm glad in the long run this happened because all that time waiting for my free estimate I spent looking at the reviews online and every other comment seems to be about installation being a nightmare, by either not showing up or sub par work. Maybe, they just didn't want my business because it was only 2 rooms with laminate I was requesting. However, my neighbor was excited when I told him I had someone coming out because he was looking to do hardwoods in his whole house and wanted to talk with the sales representative. Not anymore...

By far the worst company to deal with and this is why. I have them doing a huge job in my newly purchased home which is an older house. It was $15,000+ in work and this is how they handled the job. I had my carpets installed last week and it went fine but I’ve noticed that there are tacks that I can still feel when I’m walking on the carpet. The big major issue that I’m having today is at the time of my install they were doing vinyl flooring in the kitchen and bathroom and hardwood flooring in my living room. They started in the kitchen/laundry room area (thank god) and ripped up the carpet that was in there and began to rip up the linoleum flooring and noticed there was a small section of rotting on the subflooring.

I work in property management and spoke to several contractors and they all reassured me it was not a difficult fix in fact a very quick fix and the vinyl could have been easily still installed. Once they saw the rotting AFTER ripping everything up they told me they couldn’t proceed with the job and couldn’t put the flooring I originally had back down and their managers did nothing to help me and in fact said it wasn’t their problem and I’m ** out of luck. I’ve been on the phone all day with manager after manager and had to start recording our conversations because they continued to be unprofessional and had no desire to help me keep their business. It was a battle to cancel the services and get my deposit back for the hardwood flooring and I was told I wouldn’t be getting my money back for the “work” they did today.

For the amount of money they want me to pay for the work I’ve received I’m extremely disappointed and I do not recommend empire to ANYONE. They will not complete the work if you need to get a general contractor and they will not put your flooring back down. The 2 managers I spoke with were so rude to me and basically told me to cut my losses and the one rep I spoke to never got back to me and now I have no new floors and a mess in my laundry room and ripped up floors I have to look at until I get the work done myself.

The installers from Empire Today did a fabulous job and they were phenomenal. The workmanship was perfect so, I'm extremely pleased with that. But I have to call customer service. When the contract that I signed was sent, there were no prices next to each room. It was just the total. There was a special going on at that time. That was one room for full price or regular price and each subsequent room was $50. Those are now installed but six rooms of carpet and pad was almost $6,500. I should have had the salesman explain that to me. I'm single and I do this by myself all the time. I don't know why I didn’t question it and I said okay. He at one point said that I was saving $4,000. Two carpets, three bedrooms, a very small family room, living room and a hall would have been over $10,000.

There was a commercial, which was how I learned about the one room at full price and my kitchen area was $2,300. That was the planking. They do have 30 years warranty and if something happens, they’ll come out at your home. The pad is good but it cost me $8,700. It seems like a lot of money. Also, they required deposit and I paid half. The deposit was applied to the carpet and the next day, I had to come up with another $2,300 to pay for the kitchen floor. That was not explained. They use digital to measure and so, they have exact measurements. They asked if I wanted the extra carpet or the left-over carpet and I said, “Sure”. I could carpet another whole room with the amount of carpet they left. They apparently charge you and purchase an excessive amount of carpet. So, that’s also a problem.

She tells us, "oh, you'll save a lot money." Yes, saving a lot of money is twice what we told her we could spend. We end up with the carpeting we can afford when I threaten to throw her out of the house. Fast forward a couple of weeks later, the carpeters appear an hour late (yes, they phoned) and tell me the estimator was not only four-feet short on the room sizes, but neglected to include the stairs listed as "other" on our contract -- not stairs. Was this her first day on the job?

Anyway, I take a day off, move books and other property downstairs, move and cage animals. For what?? Nothing. Their business claims they'll make this right. I don't see how. I've already lost money from my job and we're wandering around a cramped house because the upstairs is now downstairs in preparation for the recarpeting. We also had carpet replaced in our bedroom but the carpet is cheap. It’s not the quality we were looking for and I’ve told Lawrence, our sales guy, that. One guy came to install that carpet all by himself. I had to help him move the furniture out of the room, and that’s not what Lawrence said was gonna happen. Lawrence said they would come, move the furniture out of the room, put the carpet and move the furniture back in the room. That didn’t happen.

We got garbage for a product and we’re very unhappy with it. The carpet is wafer thin. When he installed it, where it matches up to the tile in our bathroom, the grout is visible because the carpet is so thin. Our cleaning lady ran the vacuum over that seam and it ripped. It tangled all up in the vacuum cleaner and damaged it. And now, there’s a big gap all the way across.

I’m still waiting for Lawrence. We also talked to Steve in service. Someone came out and looked at it on the 10th, but we haven’t heard a word from anybody.

They’re supposed to be replacing that carpet. Lawrence was supposed to call me back, come out and show me samples of what they could replace it with, and I haven’t heard from him all week. They ought to follow up on what they’re supposed to do. We’ve been waiting since the 10th for someone to come and replace this junk carpet out of our bedroom, or just give us our money back and we’ll go shop someplace else.

I've used Empire Today about three times now and they're great. I had them install carpet for our downstairs living area and office, the whole upstairs, the bedroom and the stairway. It's black and white, but it makes it look kind of gray-white. It's like salt and pepper and it's perfect. Also, I like their reps. They show up one time and they got the job done.

First off they're overpriced for the product they offer. Secondly they use outside contractors to install their products that can careless about what condition they leave your home in. I'm not sure if they are even licensed. One of my appliances was damaged with a sharp object and I was told, "Will give you a hundred dollars for the damage that we're not admitting to because you can't prove they did it plus the contractors said it was already there." Like they really going to tell the truth! Still waiting for this nightmare to be over, they brought out the wrong carpet for my master bedroom. Since we had to clear out the room we have been sleeping on the floor for a week now!

TLDR: Bad products, even worse customer service. Shop at Home Depot or Lowe's. You might pay a tad bit more, but at least you'll get good customer service. Long Version: I replaced my 6+ yr old carpet with new carpet from Empire in September 2018. I told the sales rep I have kids, pets, and needed a high traffic carpet with a good warranty. He sold me a product and told me it had a 10 yr warranty that would cover high traffic, stains, etc., and would be replaced for free.

By January of 2019, the carpet was looking crushed, discolored, and showing other signs of degradation (and padding was flat, uneven, and bumpy). By March, it was worse and I decided to file a claim. I reached out to customer service to request the warranty information. After 3 calls, I finally got an email with the info. It stated I needed to have my carpets professionally cleaned at least once a year. So I paid Sears to come out and clean my entire house on May 3rd. After 48 hours, the carpet went right back to looking as bad as the carpet I replaced it with (the 6+ yr old carpet).

I called into customer service and was told they would send someone out to take pictures and would call me back once they receive the photos. A week later, 2 gentlemen showed up, took photos, admitted that the carpet looked bad, and left. I waited for 10 days and still did not get a call. Finally, I called into customer service to check the status. I was told that they sent me a letter. It's 2019, they have my cell number and my email. But they chose to send me a letter through the mail asking for documentation showing I got the carpet professionally cleaned. I asked where to send it and was told she would fill out a form to have someone call me in a couple of days to tell me where to send it. That's right: Fill out a FORM to have someone call me to tell me where to send my documents so they could review them to call me back even later.

So obviously I told them that was unacceptable. The rep called my claim handler and left a voicemail. To their credit, they called me about an hour later. She gave me her email, I emailed her the professional cleaning receipt. I waited for 24 hours and after not getting a response, emailed the representative to check the status. I received this very professional response this morning: "All I know was that you was supposed to have your carpet professional clean." So at this point, it's transparently obvious Empire Today will not stand by their products. Not YEARS later. Less than 9 months later. 10 yr warranty. Product didn't last a tenth of that time. So I suggest you shop at Home Depot or Lowe's or ANYWHERE else.

We had Empire Today install a carpet and some linoleum in the kitchen. They took a little bit longer than they anticipated. They put the floor in the kitchen and they had to raise it up a quarter-inch with quarter-inch plywood, so the molding that went around the baseboards doesn’t meet up anymore. It’s a quarter-inch off and we’re still trying to get it rectified. Still, we like the colors of both the carpet and the new floor in the kitchen. The cost compares fairly well with the quality and we're happy with that. We got a thicker carpet pad in the living room. So, my wife is pleased with that. The experience went smoothly and everything went fairly well.

I had my old carpet and laminate flooring removed, and LVP placed in the upstairs and part of downstairs. There was some issues with my subflooring upstairs, so after some calls to the company, and the salesman, the installer got the go ahead to lay new plywood, and then the flooring. Downstairs, my kitchen, foyer, and bathroom/washer/dryer hallway could not be done because the ceramic tile take-up was going to be a big problem! So no new flooring there, plus no labor for the tile removal, and moving of all the appliances. My salesman, over the phone, told me the company would owe me money because of the difference from what didn't get done, to the plywood subfloor getting laid.

You guessed it, after chasing down the final "adjustment", it was a "wash"! Really! All the work that didn't have to get done, to laying down pieces of the wood upstairs, all equals out! My fault for not waiting for the official total from the company, but sad, business practice to screw the buyer! Lesson learned! FYI, the flooring that did get laid does look great! Too bad the company's business practices leave a very bad taste in my mouth!

About five years ago, the living room and the master bedroom had carpets from Empire Today, and my carpets still look good. Outside of a couple of times, I’ve had somebody come in and stretch it because hard carpets ripple once in a while. This is the second time that we bought carpets from Empire Today and everything was wonderful. I had the Berber carpet put in the computer room and the spare bedroom. I thought the young people came to do paperwork but they came to lay the carpets. When they came in, they were very sweet and they were very considerate. They did a professional job. They moved all the furniture out of the rooms and it was great. They even fixed a futon. I had it down flat because it wouldn’t go up for me, but they put it in a couch position for me and that was wonderful.

The carpet was a little more expensive than I thought it was gonna be. It was advertised on TV that if you buy one room, the next room is $50. That was not true. The gentleman said that it was not really $50. The padding and the labor was extra. So, those two rooms that are not really big cost $1,700 but the Berber was really good. I wanted wood in the beginning but he said that it was gonna cost a lot more. So, we went with Berber and I’m glad that it is in because I like it a lot better than the wood.

    Original Review: June 6, 2019

My installation of Laminate Flooring was confirmed as One-Day event. The installer arrived at 10am, not 8am. At this point a 2nd day was required. The 2nd day, the manager called stating materials were not available to finish the job. At this point a 3rd day was required. This meant, I was forced to miss 3 days of work! The work left my house dusty and dirty. The installers had a broom to sweep the larger items but nothing to clean the New Floors! I can't imagine anyone accepting anything new, dusty and dirty. In addition, everything in the replaced areas have residual dirt and dust from the work performed. It is beyond me that the installers are not equipped with cloths to cover furniture and such, to protect the customer's items! This is unacceptable.

After reaching out to the installation manager several times, nothing was done! He (Eric) never returned my phone requests asking to speak directly to him. No apology! No concern! No anything! The installers asked to use my bathroom, which I understood a long Day-1 may require a bathroom break. However, they took liberties to wash their work tools and clean themselves from the day's work in my bathroom. UNACCEPTABLE! Lastly, contacting Customer Service did not help in anyway. The Sales person and the call center were very polite and inviting, PRIOR to getting the contract. After the agreement was made, no one cared about my concerns! I would not trust Empire or anyone associated with them! HORRIBLE!
