I was not involved with the installation, transactions, and the work performed as I live out of State. My Family lives in Boardman, Ohio and decided to go with this team of garbage. From the outside carpet installers to the inside padding, cut corners, chipped paint, glue residue, and the questionable contractors hired from another City/County and in my opinion brought in illegally from another country. The damages are done - the agreed upon refund was returned for the outside Carpet damage as recognized by Empire. However, I still question from Day 1 the license for the professionals that work for Empire as Third Party Contractors. I don't think they screen their employees and the install team was very filthy, unprofessional, dirty, and careless in their work. I Was not there but I can just see it in the photos that were taken.
I want the Ohio License number as all contractors working as 3rd party need to be properly skilled and licensed to do this work. Instead, Empire hires very shady workers and unskilled CHEAP labor. I have never received information about the Install team and where they come from. Other sources are telling me it is a crew of Mexicans with a side business out of Cleveland Ohio. If Empire cannot confirm this or give me the Ohio License information then I will pursue legal actions against them.
Ted, we regret to hear this and would like to further review your concerns. Please message us the street address where the installation took place. Thank you!

I called Empire Today, they came, and purchasing from them was very easy. They installed carpet in the bedroom, living room, dining room and basement. It was my first time experience with the company, and they did an amazing job. It's been only two months, but the carpet is doing well so far. The cost seems fair. Empire did a good job and they're amazing people. So, it's worth it to call them once.

I purchased new carpet with a lifetime warranty for both our stairwell and formal living room that was the expensive pet stain resistant. Exactly two years later the carpet on the bottom stair had a small hole. I had a family member bring their small dog that urinated in the carpet. After having the carpet professionally cleaned you could still smell the urine. I contacted Empire who had a representative review the carpet (there was a fee of $70). The representative indicated that the carpet should not have torn and the urine resistant pad should have work. Two weeks later, Empire reviewed the complaint, and indicated that the warranty did not cover the hole or the stain/smell. But they would offer a small discount ($200 off) if we chose to replace it. We have no choice but to remove the carpet, but we did not purchase through Empire!!! Buyers beware!!! They DO NOT honor their warranty!!! And the customer service re.
Annette, we regret to hear that your carpet did not meet your expectations, and understand that you've chosen another company for your flooring needs. If you continue to have questions and/or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us at customersupport@empire-today.com. Thank you!

Hard wood floor - tile floor. The installers were superior in their workmanship and courtesy. The men from Georgia (The Country) were honest, respectful of our property, and hard working. They cleaned the work area each day and paid attention to every detail. Empire called to alert us to their arrival and called to be sure we were satisfied. I highly recommend Empire and these particular installers.

Great job. Only one (1) thing wrong, they put in 1/2 round trim on baseboard. That was white instead of wood look. The flooring was natural wood finish planking. Never trim wood look with white. Other than that it went well.

I have had nothing but trouble with them. It took me several calls, no joke like 10 + just to get the install dates corrected, get the order corrected. NO ONE would call be back. Escalated 3 times and still no call back from a supervisor. Finally got corporate manager on the phone to get this simple issue fixed. AND then the next day they called me to confirm the install for the wrong day...again. Then the installers aka 1 guy of course can't get the job done in the expected time frame, so he's got to come back to finish it tomorrow.... Not the installers fault that they didn't send enough people... Long story short, take your business elsewhere.

We went with Empire because of the commercials. When I set up the estimate appointment I requested someone not afraid of dogs. The guy they sent, Murray, was not only afraid but he was a jerk. He made rude remarks about our dogs. We wound up in a huge fight & he was thrown out of our house. The 2nd guy they sent was friendly & ok with dogs so we went forward. We did our part, we emptied our house. Parts were outside. When the day arrived, the guy measured, well come to find out the 2nd guy had all measurements & the diagram of the house totally wrong & they were short 5 feet of carpet. We talked to Susan, a manager on a Friday. She asked for a couple days to make it right & she would call me Monday.
On Monday she said she would contact the manufacturer & call me Tuesday. On Tuesday I called her because I didn't get a call. She said she had emailed the manufacturer that morning at 11:45 & was waiting for an email. At that point I was done. She should have emailed that co on Monday & call me Tuesday. I said cancel & refund. Our stuff had been outside for days, it rained & hailed while waiting for them. The whole thing was bad, plus they charged twice what our local co charged. Plus when I called I never got the same person twice. I got 4 confirmation calls from 4 different people. They called several times, I stopped answering at number 4. I would never recommend empire.
Robin, we understand you’re frustrated and we're disappointed to hear that your installation experience didn't meet your expectations. We'll be contacting you tomorrow to make things right.

Had Empire Today install carpet in my home about 30 days ago and the whole experience was great, from the sales professional to the installers. I then had an accident on the carpet in a room and needed it replaced. This is where the problems began. The local office (Pittsburgh) wouldn’t just reorder the carpet for the room and charge me the same as I had previously paid, they insisted on sending another sales professional to remeasure. I didn’t understand why, but had to wait a week for someone to show up. They measured and set an install date. Installers show up, same ones who did original install (they were great) and immediately told me he doesn't have enough carpet. He remembered a seam needed in room. The paperwork was a foot short on the width of the room, no way to install.
Installers called the Pittsburgh office where I spoke with **, who said there is nothing he could do as he just orders product and gives it to the installers. And that they don’t have carpet in the warehouse, he would have to reorder and have it delivered, the soonest will be Tuesday. This is unacceptable, consumers just don’t wake up and are prepared for an install, work is done before those installers ever show up. So now I have a garage full of furniture, my car in the driveway, house torn up, and will have to miss work to have the carpet (hopefully) installed on Tuesday. I asked to speak with a supervisor and Vidi, who said she doesn’t have a last name, only took a message to pass along to the local office and they would get back to me within 24 business hours. She also told me that no one in a Fortune 500 company has company cell phones, to try to reach them today. I am most definitely sure she is lying about that just like her not having a last name.
I was so pro-Empire after the initial install, but now, I am regretting my decision, because what happens when if I have to utilize the warranty? Are they going to be this difficult? I gave it 1-star, not because of the installer, not because of the sales professional (mistakes happen) but because of the very poor customer service when you have an issue, and because Vidi outright lied to me. Unbelievable.
Jeff, we understand you’re frustrated and we're disappointed to hear that your installation experience didn't meet your expectations. We'll be further reviewing your concerns, thank you.

We love the wood flooring we got from Empire Today. I like the way the installer put it in. He followed procedure and put it in the way it’s supposed to be put in. It was done quickly and I liked how he was a perfectionist. He was very professional. While I should have asked for a larger molding, that can be done in the future. The quality of the flooring is excellent.

I got vinyl planks and carpets from Empire Today. They installed it throughout the whole house and did a wonderful job. It was just costly. When they advertise $50 a room, of course they don’t tell that they’re jacking up their prices of installation. It was still cheaper than what it was gonna cost me somewhere else, yet it’s kinda deceiving how they advertise. I’m smart enough to understand that you don’t get anything for free. And they can say it’s $50 a room after the first room, and there ain’t gonna be $50 a room. I do wish afterwards, that on the paperwork, they had actually laid it out. They didn’t, they just gave a big ballpark number. So, as far as that goes, I wasn’t really happy. But as far as the workmanship, the people coming in, everything, I was happy with.

The salesman, Randy **, visited us in the Inland Empire. He said he would be oversee things. The installers were asked to be careful of the recently painted walls. They not only damaged the walls by putting a hole in it but also attempted to cover it up by filling the hole with silicone and trespassed into our garage and found some paint to paint it over. It was the wrong paint. I reported the concerns and problems and was promised someone would compensate us for our damages and no one ever did. Many empty promises were given. The salesman promised he would be involved but never contacted us to see how the install even went. He mixed us up with another customer and never returned to pick up his samples. Very unprofessional company on many levels.

Let me start by saying I’ll make a long story short. I had spoke to a representative this past Monday. He came over took a look around gave me a quote and I said we would be in touch. That Wednesday (mind you I didn’t have another appointment) I was giving my daughter her bath. Next thing I know the police are in my house standing in the living room yelling to see if anyone is home. I walked downstairs with my daughter soaking wet in my arms totally confused! The police officer went on to say that the representative called 911 because I hadn’t come to answer the door and was scared for my well-being! Are you kidding me? I have never heard or seen such a thing! For a representative to call the police because I didn’t answer my door is totally unacceptable!
I have spoke with management and they think it was the right thing to do for the representative to call the cops because he thought something was wrong. Thought something was wrong because I didn’t answer my door?! Absolutely crazy. I wish the company would have offered to help fix the problem and at the very least gave me a discount but they were also very rude on the phone and didn’t seem to be a big problem to them. Total joke!
Patrick, we take matters such as this very seriously, and we'll be looking into your concerns right away. Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention.

Purchasing the flooring from Empire Today was fine, but the installers didn’t get here the first time when they had said they were gonna be here. I called them and complained. They showed up a day later. We were done rearranging the house for them to be here to do this. Other than that, they did a good job installing laminate floorings in our double-wide mobile home. We ended up just installing the floorings on the hallway between three of the bedrooms and two of the bathrooms. I’m just doing it a little bit at a time. As of this time, we got the dining area and the living room. Then I’m planning on doing the closets and the other four bedrooms a little later. My wife and I live here and we’ve mentioned it to people that has come here and seen it, and they've liked what they’ve seen. If the floorings hold up to what Empire Today says it’s gonna be, there will be no problem with it.

Got laminate flooring for our entire house. Installers left a terrible mess in the front yard. Baseboards do not match flooring in several places. When toilet was replaced in master bathroom it leaked...ruining our brand new floor and causing huge water bill. I have contacted Empire numerous times. Get letters with phone numbers to call and no one calls back. I finally got someone scheduled to come out. They never showed up. When I did get them to come out he did half the job. Put more mismatched baseboards and again left a huge mess. I have yet to receive a response. Also I asked for low price guarantee as my flooring went on sale less than a month after we got it. Of course no response. Stay away from this company.

I had engineered hardwood, I had luxury vinyl and I had some carpet on my stairs and catwalk. I had two other companies come out and give me estimates, but I was getting a better product with Empire. The price was better, and the representative represented the company better too. He was personable, which was fine. I’m a designer, so he claimed he loved the home ‘cause I’m an interior designer. He had really good recommendations and he was very nice. He followed up on questions too. I love the engineered hardwood ‘cause it completely changed my house, ‘cause I had tile in my bathroom. I also like the vinyl because it’s easy to clean. It went down beautifully. The carpet is very nice as well. It’s a Berber, but it’s really pretty. I’m satisfied with everything.

I needed a carpet installed before school would begin so called Empire carpet and scheduled a visit the next day for an estimate mentioning that it was a school in a church. After an initial visit from the person giving the estimate, I was told that we needed a commercial estimate which I had mentioned when scheduling the appointment. Then waiting two days more he came and gave an estimate. A very good estimate with a guarantee of next day service. So we signed the contract within a day and scheduled service for two days after since they were unavailable before that time.
Then the scheduled day they did not show up. So we expected them the next day. We were not on the schedule for the next day, thus the following day. No show for that day either. Finally scheduled for after school hours since we missed our window before school started. They did show up after school but did not have the correct amount of carpet. So we canceled the contract one week ago and are still waiting to get a call from the cancellation dept. Meanwhile we are hoping to get our deposit back??? I would not recommend this company.

Installed new laminate on my entire first floor in Sept 2018. Just last month I we noticed the flooring had several large areas of clouding and haze in the finish. Called Empire to have someone come and look. They literally sent an installer to inspect the floors, and not a salesman or someone from quality control. The installer did say the floor was defective, and took that info back to claims dept. The gal I was working with then emails and asks for additional photos, of which I sent to her. 2 weeks later she calls me and says the claim was denied and they will do nothing to back up their materials, even though it wasn't quite a year since install.
I will be fighting this decision, as our $6000 floors look terrible. There is definitely a defect in the flooring, and for them to not honor their warranty is a bad move. I will NEVER use Empire again, and advise anyone who is thinking about it to run the other way. Their claims department girl has jerked me around for the last 5 weeks, only to come back and say, "Too bad."

These assclowns decided to subcontract out the work individuals who have a hard time writing down the right day and time that you want them to come, but somehow are able to get the credit card number down perfectly for the security deposit! No follow up/confirmation email to confirm the time, date, and payment because these guys are “professionals” LOL. But I don’t blame the individuals who were supposed to come out and do the work. [You can only expect so much from those who barely know how to do simple and basic functions].
Empire decided to make a poor [yet continuous based on majority of reviews] business decision by letting another half ** business come in and do their work for them. However, when you go to call them out on the phone for their mistakes, they are ever SO quick to blame anyone but themselves. No Responsibility for lack of follow up, No Responsibility for making sure that operations are running the way they need to be, No Responsibility for doing a satisfactory service of which they scream about in their infomercials. They just run your credit card and then close their eyes and let the dingleberries on the other side of the line pick a day [hopefully in the same month!] that isn’t what you agreed to! Lol, why would they care if you miss work and money? You’re still paying them.

When we called Empire for some carpeting, we got an appointment for a salesman to come quite quickly. However, he cancelled the first appointment. When he finally came, he measured and showed us the choices of carpet. He told us that we could have it installed on Tuesday of the following week. On Tuesday I waited until 1030 to call Empire to find out where our installers were. The call center did not even have our order in the system. After speaking to the salesman's supervisor, turns out the salesman never even entered our order, even though we paid a deposit. Finally, after several phone calls, we had the installation scheduled for that Thursday. On Thursday I proactively called to make sure someone was coming. The call center told me that we were scheduled but couldn't tell me a time other than "between 8-4".
Well, the installers came at 630pm! At about 1130 they told us that they didn't have enough carpet to finish the job and that they would come back Monday. FINALLY, the following Thursday, the carpeting was completed. This was a nightmare! I placed 30 phone calls to empire looking for answers during this time. I will NEVER use or recommend then again. Also, we were told we would receive a survey and they would appreciate 9's or 10's as a score. HA! I never received the survey, I wonder why?!

We had Empire quote both carpet and vinyl. They weren't the cheapest, but they claimed to be able to do the install quickly, so we went with them anyway. Carpeting was done very poorly - parts of the carpet not tacked down at all, parts just folded and laying against molding, parts that should have been installed underneath a railing were just sitting on top of the metal, frayed edges exposed. They damaged the paint all along a wall where they carpeted a staircase. We had to have a second installer come out to fix all the issues. Vinyl was even worse. Twice we had scheduled appointments that Empire no-showed on. The third time, after arriving they demanded an extra $2000 on top of the $7000 already quoted (for vinyl!) to do the job as they claimed that their salesman didn't quote it correctly. We canceled the install and will never do business with Empire again.

Consumers should be aware that when doing business with Empire Today, they are dealing with a large nationwide sales company and they are subbing out the actual installs - from what I could tell. The bid and sales process was quick. Once I confirmed my purchase, there was a very rapid "signing" of electronic pages on a tablet. No time to really read. The actual invoice and outline of work was VERY vague (no sq footage outlined, limited detail on scope of work for eventual installer).
They call you for a week, daily, to ensure you will be home when the installers are scheduled and require you to accommodate a window of 8a to 6p! That gets narrowed down the morning of. The "crew" assigned to my job called to indicate an 11:30 or 12 arrival. At 2:30 I was still waiting - reached out to sales person who indicated "they were busy but he'd look into it". "Crew" of 1 showed up at 3p and first item on the agenda was to collect my full payment. He hadn't even unloaded his van and wanted all payment and for me to sign a document that said I was happy with the installation! I did not sign, but did pay as their materials state that's their expectation.
It had been my expectation that the installation would be on that day - so I had made arrangements to be available that day as requested. No surprise that the one guy got very little accomplished by 5p when he wrapped up and asked when he could return the next day - assuring me he'd be done by noon. I made further arrangements - but by noon the next day he didn't have all the supplies he needed and had to come back the next day. This went on for FOUR more days! A little bit of work - failed to have all supplies - needs to come back.
At the end - finally - the floor looks nice and I was super relieved not to have to continue to deal with it. Essentially I became the General Contractor - explaining what work needed to be done, and double checking all the work throughout the process. Essentially I became the General Contractor - explaining what work needed to be done, and double checking all the work throughout the process.
When I expressed my concerns via the one email I got from the company about my experience, there was no response. They had my money - done deal. Super disappointing customer service and the process of leaving these poor installers to try to interpret vague work orders having never even seen the space seems like pretty shady practice. OK... Shows up at 4:45, rips up a section of the carpet. "Your floor needs leveling. I have to leave now." "Can’t you at least get the carpet out?" "I’m off at 5."
Many angry messages later (no one from Empire sales, installation, or our salesman will answer, of course), I cancel the order. Salesman calls days later. "So sorry. Will get a better installation team," yadayada. Reschedule for Sept 5th. Team of two show up this time, rip up another section of carpet. "Floor needs leveling - let me send a pic to my manager." Half hour later - "We can’t do it. But I can do it on the side, on my own. Just don’t tell Empire I said this." Bye bye Felicia. Spent next 6 hours pulling staples and padding from our original, beautiful hardwood floor (circa 1951), and cutting up the carpet they both left in our living room into 3 foot sections and duct taping, so our garbage men will take it. DONE with Empire!!! And I was a repeat customer.

I hired Empire Today to install laminate flooring in my entire house (1854 sqft), and carpet on the stairs. The salesman, Greg **, was extremely nice and accommodating. He gave me his personal number and told me to call or text him if there were any problems with the installation. He responded to a couple of my texts prior to installation. He specifically told me that I should go through him for any issues, and gave me no other number or person to contact. Once demolition started, he never responded to my texts again. He told me the flooring was waterproof, which I found out later wasn't true. He also told me that I had the best installation team they had coming out, only to find out the installation teams aren't chosen until the day of the job.
Scheduling with Empire was a nightmare. They were unable to tell me a timeframe the installers would arrive. I was told they could arrive anywhere between 8:00am and 5:00pm. When I told them that I couldn’t sit around all day and miss work, so I needed to cancel my order, I was told that I could go to work, and someone would call me 45 minutes before arrival, that way I wouldn’t miss more work than I was able to miss. I wasn’t called until the installation team with 20 minutes from my house, so they ended up having to wait for me – something else I dislike doing. The carpet installation was scheduled for Wednesday, a different day than the laminate installation. This time, they told me he would arrive between 1:00 and 5:00. I left work early, and the installer was a no-show. I was offered $100 compensation for my wasted time, which I accepted.
Empire is a middle man. They hire out the installation to contractors who have no real investment in you getting your project complete or done properly. The installation team they hired for my job was Metro Flooring (Las Vegas, NV). One guy came in and walked through my house with me to ensure they had the correct rooms for installation. He did not discuss with me the process, nor did I see him on site ever again. Greg, the salesman, had told me that they would push furniture to one side of the room, remove the old flooring, install the new flooring, move the furniture to the completed side, and repeat the process. This is not what happened.
Metro Flooring moved all my furniture into 3 rooms, stacking items in haphazard ways, scratching wooden furniture and putting dents in my walls in the process. I have freshly painted cabinets in my kitchen and every one of the lower cabinets was scratched from the removal of the tile. They took no actions to prevent this from happening. When I addressed these damages with Empire Today, they claimed that the installation team did not cause the damage, but offered me $200 in compensation. I figured there was no way I could prove they caused the damage (even though they did), so I accepted this compensation.
If you’re keeping track, they now owe me $300 in compensation. Metro Flooring also used their Miter Saw in one of my upstairs bedrooms, leaving a thick layer of sawdust on all my wall hangings. They did a poor job of cleaning up the job site, probably because it was 9:30pm and they were rushing to leave. The time that was scheduled for the job was definitely not appropriate for the time needed to complete the job.
The installation team was also installing baseboards. I was told the incorrect amount of baseboards to purchase for my second story, so they ran out (Greg, the salesman, told me how many linear feet to purchase). Another problem right off the bat was the color of the transitions. They had sent a color that was too dark. I noticed this as soon as I came home the day the transitions were installed. To my relief, the installer had realized these weren't the correct transitions, and hadn't glued/nailed them down. He promised he would come back on Thursday (two days later) to finish the baseboards and install the correct transition. He didn't return for 3 weeks, and came back with the exact same color transitions that he had before. He was angry about this, and refused to do anything until he could complete everything on the same day.
When I told him that was unacceptable since two of my bedrooms were unusable since he left all the furniture stacked in one of them, he agreed to move the furniture back. I should have insisted he finish the baseboards, because I still couldn’t use the rooms since everything that needed to go back in the closets was stacked on the beds.
Between the original days the installation was supposed to be completed, and the day he came back 3 weeks later, I noticed 3 pieces of flooring that had chips on the ends or sides, and 1 piece with a saw mark on it from the miter saw. I also noticed that they left labels on two pieces of quarter round under the cabinets, and there were large gaps between many pieces of the flooring. The Metro flooring installer wouldn’t fix any of these problems that day. Again he promised he would come back on Thursday (5 days later) to install the correct transitions, finish the baseboards, and fix the flooring problems.
One week later (installation + 4 weeks), a customer service representative came out to my house so I could pick the transition I wanted. She told me that Metro Flooring refused to come out again until I did this. She brought some very small samples, none of which matched the flooring. I chose one that was a better match than what Empire had sent, but expressed my displeasure that Empire didn’t provide an option that matched the flooring they sold me. The customer service rep told me that she would have the new transitions by Monday (3 days away) and that the install team could come back and install them on Thursday. I told her that I couldn’t miss any more work, so she said they would come on Saturday.
On Saturday, I hadn’t heard from anyone by noon, so I called the office. A man named Hugo picked up the phone, and said there was no appointment for me to get my flooring installed. Turns out that they hadn’t received the transitions in time, and switched my appointment to the following Saturday, without telling me or checking if that date worked for me (it didn’t because I was going to be out of town for work). We rescheduled for the following Thursday.
Thursday (installation + 6.5 weeks), an installer from a different company showed up to install the transitions. He was unaware of any of the other items that needed to be finished (baseboards and flooring issues fixed). He called his supervisor who came over and was very helpful. Her team was unable to work on my floors because they hadn’t been scheduled properly time-wise, but she told me how to maintain my floors (something Metro Flooring was supposed to do) and talked to me about my options if my flooring didn’t get finished soon. She also told the customer service rep to order 4 more boxes of flooring to fix the hallway where most the chipped pieces were. She left the transitions (correct color) and two boxes of flooring at my house so it could get acclimatized.
The following Tuesday (installation + 7 weeks), the original company came out to fix the problems and finish the baseboards and transitions. They did not bring the 4 extra boxes of flooring, but were able to fix the issues with the two that had been left the previous week. I ended up having to take another half day off work to accommodate their schedule, because I was concerned I wouldn’t get the job completed otherwise.
Now, the customer service rep who promised to compensate me $300 isn’t answering my texts or returning my calls. I have yet to receive my compensation 8 weeks later. It is clear to me that Empire Today only cares about the profit and does not care about the customer. Save yourself the headache and frustration. Call a company directly, because then you won’t be up-charged and the installation company will have their own reputation on the line if they don’t do the job well.

I had my hardwood floor installed about 2 years ago, the installers were terrible and I just wanted them out of my house. Period. I have so many issues with my floors today. Plank separation, ugly wood pieces, some spots are lower than the other, the molding is coming apart, you can see all the nail holes. I mean it's not worth what I paid. One of the installers dropped glue on the wood and was scratching off with a lighter.... C'mon. I had a few companies come to my house over the past few months for tile quotes, and all of them have said "Who installed your hardwood floor" in a bad way.... I think they could do the commodes but not pedestal sinks, because they are not plumbers. The sinks are easier to do than commodes. The salesman saw the sinks and commodes and said no problem. They took my money. How do I resolve this, I need the job finished. I am not hiring a plumber just to disconnect sinks and the come back again to connect. This is the third or fourth time we have used Empire over the last several years, but it is the last. We had a flooded basement with Empire flooring from 1 year earlier. We wanted to replace it with the exact same material but add an additional room. First salesman lied and said that the flooring he quoted was the same and that he would call the following day to discuss the additional room install. The contract did not include that room and no calls were received. Then noticed that the name of the flooring chosen was different than the last time. Called customer service every day for a week and half before we were able to get a response.
Every person was polite, but would always respond that someone would contact us in 24 hours or less. Never received a call. Finally had to schedule another appointment with a different sales representative to make sure what flooring we were getting. The first salesman just picked what he thought was the closest and didn’t provide any samples. Biggest fiasco and even felt like we were being scammed. The local contractor that installed the floor was nice and did a good job, but they don’t actually work for Empire, they are just a subcontractor. Worst experience with a company ever. Will not recommend or use again.

My wife contacted Empire to get a estimate. The sales rep they sent (in her own words "was new") had no clue. Was calling other reps to answer our questions. We should of just stopped right there but we ended up ordering carpet for our hallway and outdoor carpeting for our patio. The installers show up the initial day on time and ready to go. They come in and look at the hallway first. The rep measured wrong, they didn't have enough carpet. Then we went outside to patio. They told us the carpet we ordered wouldn't work with the glue for the patio. That's not what the sales rep told us or we wouldn't of ordered it.
So we decided not to get carpet for the patio. They were to come back the next morning at the same time to put the carpet in the hallway. They never showed up. My wife calls and gets the runaround. Hours later they tell her the installers were never informed to come back out so the carpet wasn't ordered. We cancel the entire order but customer service said we wouldn't get our full deposit back. After the back and forth they finally said we would get it back after we said we're going to contact a lawyer. I will never again use Empire!!!! I will give another company my business.

When subcontractors showed up they had not been informed of my concerns or specific requests and did exactly what I didn’t want. The manager said I had to pay or he will send me to collections and only took off as small amount. I should of not paid because he would of had to bring me to court not send me to collections where it would affect my credit before I could contest it. Original Review: Sept. 4, 2019
I made an online appointment to meet with an estimator about carpeting a room in my house. The rep showed up right when I was told and he was exceedingly friendly and helpful. After some small talk and taking measurements he helped me pick from a few samples he had brought. Everything up to this point was going smoothly. The price seemed fair and from all the constant ads I see from them, what’s not to trust?
This was a Friday and I was told I would be getting a call Monday about what time to expect the installers on Tuesday. In the next email I got on Sunday, I was informed they would call anytime between 8am and 6pm and to have someone home during this whole time. Naturally I had to rearrange my whole next few days. My daughter had to go back to her moms early just in case they showed up right at eight, and I had to have time to remove everything from the room being done.
I get a call at 7am Tuesday morning saying they are about an hour away. So I finish removing the large objects to clear the space. The couple that showed up could not have been nicer but after taking one look at the floor, they immediately checked their supplied paperwork and knew instantly that the estimator measured incorrectly. They measured again just to be certain and sure enough they were short.
They were nice enough to give me options, they could do the room and come back for the stairs tomorrow, but have more seams on the floor, or just do everything another day. Since none of this was their fault I assured them it was okay to just do it right in one pass another day. They contacted corporate and apologized again before leaving.
About an hour later I get a call from my estimator who could not have sounded less concerned. Basically I got a, “whoops oh well stuff happens I guess” from him. Working nights, I had to rearrange a considerable amount of scheduling to make time for this on this day and I feel like this is the wrong attitude to have from quite literally his own personal mistake. I asked what should we do from here in terms of inconvenience since I also had to take a day off work. He said it couldn’t be done that day since the carpet came from Detroit. I cut right to it and asked for maybe a small rebate for the inconvenience and missed work. His tone changed drastically and said there was no way he could do anything like that but he could probably get me a $50 missed installation credit.
I think it’s outrageous that a sales rep would not lead with that at the very very least. Had I not said anything he would have never offered. Which is asinine because at the very least, that’s exactly what happened. Except I don’t blame the installers, they did exactly what they were supposed to and more if you ask me, for taking the time to recheck everything before they got started. For a company that people trust with a pretty important part of their homes, I am not at all impressed with the attention to detail and customer service on a company level. Lesson learned, next time, go local.
Tom, we know missed appointments can be frustrating and we sincerely apologize for your experience. We'll be in touch with you shortly to discuss your concerns.

There was so MUCH pad left over (I have pictures). I happened to ask for the large amount of carpet that was left, or they being "CONTRACTORs" would of had enough carpet and pad to do a job on their own!! Where to begin with this company? My boyfriend and I had Empire Today come to our home in Miami in December of 2018. The contractor wrote an estimate for our high rise interior and exterior. He also stated he would need to have permits and we could pay him to do this, great, since we do also have a home in CA. Bad! Took him 2 months to obtain the permit with barely any communication, all the while Empire is emailing us they're coming out to install our laminate floors. Over 20+ notifications and calls!
He finally receives permit, great. We get on a plane to come, again, no communication from Empire as to who is coming to install. Also they are fully aware they need to leave the samples of the laminate and underlayment with my building. This was never done, nor was a copy of their insurance provided to my building, until the day before? They were suppose to come weeks before they actually came out. February 11th they showed up. 5 hours late. I had been calling the local office in Miami and nobody ever called back, no communication again!
Onto the floors, the installers left a mess. We have dips in the floor, they overcharged for material. Our unit is only 1,006 square feet, nowhere on the paperwork does it state the cost of materials and how they get to that number? They were not able to do the patio as they never gave the sample to my building. They left nails sticking up with my dog cut her paw on, what if this was a child? I have pictures and detailed information of everything. They never had the city inspector come so now they have to come out and pull up my floor again to have the permit closed?!
I have been in dispute with my credit card company for the past few months over this dispute. I have offered to pay for materials and labor for what my unit costs. Nobody from corporate will call me back. Even when I call the consumer line they cannot get a hold of anyone to resolve my case. I have names of people in the corporate and finance departments in IL but no phone numbers as they are not allowed to give that out. I have been trying to resolve these issues without moving any further. I continue to call Empire corporate for someone to reach out and resolve these ongoing issues, no response. This unit was to be a rental unit, and I am losing money and loss of use over these past few months of nobody doing anything. I have all documentation that is needed to show proof of negligence.

We did some shopping and Empire Today would haul away our old carpet and help move some of the heavy pieces of furniture, so we went with them. Everything would be all taken care of and done within one day’s time. Dealing with the sales rep went very smoothly, and everything was fine. I was trying to match some hardwood that we had. I’ve wanted the new luxury vinyl tiles, but they did not have anything that matched our current hardwood flooring in part of the house. So, we had to go with a recommended product that matched. It was the closest what we could get without going to hardwood.
Installation went very smoothly. They were here very promptly in the morning, and they called ahead saying they would be here by 8 o’clock. Everything went on schedule. When their sales guy came in, he did his thing and then he told me it was gonna be $3,500. I said that I had an estimate for $1,700 for doing the same exact thing that they were telling me, so their price was twice as high. He then went, "Well, let me see what I can do." He made his phone call, came back, and said that his boss said they can do it for 17 too. So, they cut the price in half. Then we signed the paperwork, and I gave him $150 down. But there was a little problem. When the installers came, they still had the price at $3,500. I said that was not how it goes. So, they made a phone and they called somebody who said that the paperwork was wrong and that it was supposed to be 1,700. So, I gave him a credit card for the 1,500, and it all worked out fine.
The installer, his wife and the other guy were great. I was impressed and very happy with what those guys did. They were wonderful. He didn't stop from the time they got there until they get it done. After they were done, they cleaned up everything, put my furniture all back the way it was. He was very professional. He didn't speak English but his wife did. Overall, I was very satisfied. I am a quality control personnel for Doyon, which is a government-owned construction company, and I knew the quality of work of the person that did the work in the buildings that we’d done. I found out that Empire did that work on that job, so I contacted them. I got carpet installed and they did the whole downstairs, the steps, the landing coming up, and the hallway on the second floor. I'm trying to get everything situated right now and I got painting going on but once the painting is finished, they're supposed to come back and measure up for the carpets for the four bedrooms and the closet. Then, by end of October, I'm getting our kitchen done and they're supposed to come back to finish off the downstairs. We are ripping up linoleum and putting down the tile downstairs in the kitchen area. So, I got them scheduled to do a lot of work.
So far, they did excellent work and the workers were top-notch. They moved very fast, very clean, and very thorough. I couldn’t give them anything less and there was nothing wrong from the time they came in. They came at the time that they said they were gonna show up, they did everything they said they were gonna do and finished them, and they cleaned up after themselves, left the equipment back to where it was, and came and asked my wife if she wanted it there or did she want to change it. I tell everybody in my neighborhood that’s getting ready to do a remodel that they gotta call these guys. And I told Empire's rep that the next time he comes by, he has to get some business cards. That’s how much I'm impressed with their work.

When I called Empire, I was impressed with the people and the way they responded to my inquiry. So, I went with them. I bought carpet for my home and the reps who assisted me were very good. I liked the efficiency and the way they handled everything. They stayed to their schedule, too. It took a couple of hours to put the carpeting on, but we had three rooms, a hallway, and three closets. They were remarkable and I'm very pleased with the whole situation.

I called Empire Today to get a quote on flooring for our entire house. The sales person came on time and was pleasant and knowledgeable. She worked up a quote, and told it to us verbally. When we told her that we were going to get other quotes, and wanted a written quote, she said she would send the quote to us on Monday, the consultation was on Saturday. I said Monday would be great. Monday came and went, and on Thursday I tried to call, but I could not get anyone to answer or return any of my calls.
On the following Monday I did receive an e-mail from the consultant saying that she had gotten a new computer and would be sending the quote by the end of the day. It has been 4 weeks now and no quote yet. I have emailed at least four times with no response. We of course have quotes from other companies that we are happy with by now, but I am just frustrated why Empire Today would not get back to me. We were looking at an $18,000 flooring job. I will never call Empire Today again, especially after reading other reviews of how their people treat customers.

I wanted to say after reading so many negative reviews I wanted to post a positive experience even if I'm having to wait now to do my floors. The salesman Brandon came out from Orlando Florida very professional and I received my quote at the same time. I was so excited I made a deposit and scheduled my appointment for the following week. Unfortunately, due to uncontrolled circumstances I could not do it and panicked because so many reviews indicated they were rude and took forever to get their deposits refunded. I called their 1-800 #, cancelled and as a courtesy called my salesman on Monday. He was very understanding and I told him when the time is right I'll contact him again!! Received my deposit back with 3 days as with any refunds they say 7-10 business days to refund. Great company from my perspective!!

We spent the whole week leading up to the install moving and clearing stuff so the upstairs would be ready to go for the Friday install. We also had our kids go to someone's house so they would be out of the way of the installers. The install ended up being scheduled on our anniversary so we moved our anniversary plans to the follow day, a Saturday. They were supposed to arrive between 1 and 3 in the afternoon on Friday. We never heard anything and it was almost 3 so my wife called and found out that they got delayed on another job and wouldn't be able to come out until 5, which is of course very late. No communication as we had to contact them. They asked if that was fine so we said okay as this HAD to be done on the day that they scheduled it.
They then call us an hour or so later saying that they will not come out today as they would be getting back late and would have to reschedule for Monday. This inconvenienced our entire weekend and throws are entire weekend in flux and there was a complete lack of care for how much they screwed our weekend. All of the work to prepare for this weekend and abide by the contract that was agreed to was for nothing. Empire Today and their installers do not care about what the contract says, speaking to management all we got was a lack of understanding or care about what a horrible experience this was. All they offered for all of this was a 250 dollar discount. Once this is actually done we will not use them again and will actively advise anyone we know from using them. The customer service/care is abysmal. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with.

You don’t want this pad unless you are putting it in apartments. Make sure you ask for the better pad. Walking on this pad you can feel knots, I imagine the knots are the glue used to hold the pad together. In the end it’s my fault. Learn from my mistake.

I ordered 2 bedrooms to be carpeted in May 2019. Both rooms had beds that needed to be taken apart & put back together. Empire was to do this as per the salesman that came to my home. Since I am by myself, a recent widow this was very important to me. I was notified by Empire in both June & July telling me my carpet was in, did I want to schedule earlier. I said "no" because I was cleaning both rooms & also going thru my deceased husband's clothes. I needed the time, especially since I am in my mid 70's. On both of these occasions I verified with Empire's customer service about Empire taking down the bed & was assured it was fine.
In August Empire notified me about the installation date. I set up the time & checked again about the disassembling of the 2 beds by Empire. At that time the CS person said he would try to get my salesman on the line. He did & I was assured by the salesman he knew just the right installers to come & they would take & put back up the 2 beds. The installation was scheduled, the installers came and promptly left saying they did not take down beds. To makes a long story short, after 2 days of trying to get this issue resolved, the salesman admitting his error in assuring me they would take care of both beds, the Col Oh office telling me they would refund my deposit within 2 to 4 days back to my charge card.
Then I received the resolution dept asking how could they keep my business. I said since I was told that it was a corporate ruling that Empire would not take down the beds to just send back my deposit like I was told by the Columbus Oh office. I said, "Ok take the $50 from the $500 deposit." He said NO the 10% would be from the whole job amount & I should have read my contract better. The amount was deducted from my deposit & the balance was returned to my charge card. Note: The contract came online, I was unable to open it to print it. I called to have it sent by mail twice between May & July, that never happened. Since last Monday 12, 2019 I have had other estimates both with the beds taken apart & put back together & my new carpet will be installed soon.
I would give Empire carpeting less than a 1 star if possible. The salesman (LD) was not honest and the resolution guy took 10% of the job from my deposit after the women in the Columbus Oh office (LS) said my deposit would be returned with no mention of a 10% reduction from the total job. So the bottom line is the salesman probably got his commission even though he caused the whole issue. Thank goodness I refused to put down a larger deposit.
Be very cautious if you decide to order carpeting from Empire & make sure you get a copy of your invoice if you cannot get in online. I also received an email from another women on Friday August 16, saying she wanted to see what could be done since I canceled my carpet installation. I sent her the above information & let her know I did not cancel the installation, Empire refused to take down the 2 beds and do the job that I contracted to have done. I have not heard back from her. Beware of Empire.

We started out pleased with this experience -- Empire Today did our whole house. We had two guest rooms, so I had called on the special I saw on TV, “get one room and get the other room for $50.” So, I made the appointment and the guy came. He was nice, but he said that the special was over. He saw our situation where one of our dogs, a male dog, pees on the wood that we have in one of the bedrooms. He gave us the price for the two rooms which was going to be $12,000 -- it really increased. He showed us options and he was saying that the wood, which they did, that we have all throughout the house wasn’t part of their sale. It just wasn’t working out.
So then, he was showing us other types of flooring, the pieces that snap together. We agreed to the that because it had the wood grain on it. It was a hot day and we did not even have a central air in the house, but they worked hard. Now, the dog has been peeing and because there are seams in these, it is worse than the wood -- it is buckling. We were upset that we did not get what we originally wanted. It seemed like it was bait-and-switch. My husband was gonna cancel it and he thought for two rooms with that type of flooring, it was a lot. If it was like five grand for one room, then we could do another room for the $50. We were on a budget. It’s a different feeling when you are walking on something that is not wood, which you would never know unless you could experience it. And how could you experience it unless it is done in your house? It feels like it is not as stable as the wood. Overall, I'm not happy with this flooring.

The only reason I don't give 1 star is because the finished product looks good and there are no problems with it, so far. Long story short, this company wants your money but doesn't care about how they treat you. If you need to save money, they have good prices (if you negotiate a little), but be prepared to have a hassle with their reps over the phone. If you can afford the extra cost, go with another company. Keep reading if you want the details...
The salesman came, was very nice and patient. Gave us multiple quotes, no problem. We liked the price, which was much cheaper than other places we shopped beforehand. I saw they didn't have the greatest reviews online, but decided to use them because a trusted friend used them, her floors came out great and she said she had a good experience. She was also referred by a friend who liked their service. The customer service from that point on was horrible. Our carpet was supposed to be installed on a Saturday. They called us at 7pm the night before (after we had already moved all the furniture out of the way) saying the crew was a "no show" and that they had to reschedule. The woman who called was very short with me and didn't apologize once.
During this, I mentioned I found out I was supposed to get a referral discount and the person who referred me was supposed to get a gift card. I told her I told our salesman I was referred and he didn't bother to bring up the fact there are rewards for being referred (This is how you get business, you should be upfront about it!). She said someone from the customer service dept would contact me about it. Fair enough. When that person called, I said I was very unhappy about having to reschedule, since I had a family party the weekend we had to move it to and we had missed work and rearranged the whole weekend for something that didn't happen. They said since I was already getting the referral discount, they couldn't do much else. Excuses! (What if I hadn't been getting the discount?!). Regardless, I let it go.
We had the appt. moved to the following Saturday (also the day before a family party so it was a scramble that should have been avoided. We also moved all the furniture for them to ensure they got it done in a day, otherwise they would have moved it, but would have taken an extra day to complete the work. We didn't get any sort of discount for this, although we should have...). They called to confirm the night before and briefly reviewed what was going to be done (baseboards and carpet). The installers called about 45 mins ahead of arrival the next day. They were very nice and worked quickly. They were there from 8:30am to 4:30pm. They got almost done and, when we mentioned the base boards, they said they were not informed the base boards were supposed to be done and were not given the materials.
At this point, I was completely done with them and just wanted a refund for that part since it would have involved a separate install day. I got a call Monday from the GM saying they would refund the money for the baseboards. I made it a point to tell him their customer service had been very bad, apart from the installers. He said he would mention it to the people involved but he made no apology, didn't say have a good day or anything, just hung up the phone. I talked to probably 5 different people (apart from installers) throughout the whole experience and they all had the same phone etiquette of this GM. Very bad way to treat customers paying thousands of dollars for your product.
Chelsey, we regret to hear that your instillation did not go as planned, and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We'll be further reviewing your concerns.

I went to Empire first to get laminated floors and new carpeting throughout the living and dining rooms of my home. I was happy with the services that I was getting, so I didn’t need to go any further. The sales rep who assisted me was wonderful and the installers were here on time. They said that they were caught up a little bit in traffic, and they called and let us know about that. They did a wonderful job, too and I have no qualms about it. The carpet men also called and said they would be here. They told me what I had to get ready and everything was ready when they got here. They laid the carpet in in two hours and a half, then they took my furniture, put it out on the patio for me, and brought it back in.
All in all, Empire Today's reps were great and very nice to work with. I would recommend them. They came in and did what they needed to do. Plus, the products have met my expectations. The flooring makes the room look bigger and the color of the wood in the kitchen matches the cabinetry, which brings out the wood in the cabinetry. So overall, it looks very nice and I’m very happy with it. But I need to call them because there’s a little bit of fraying in between the door jambs where they took the carpet up to the old carpet. Still, it has nothing to do with their workmanship. It’s just something that needs a little attention.

Our sales rep came to the house and couldn’t be more friendly. He even played with the cats. Showed us samples and we chose. I told him and made it a point that I wanted good 8+lb padding. After all of the insanely negative reviews I started panicking. There was absolutely no need to panic. After seeing the reviews and what to look for I walked up to look while they literally vacuumed all other stairs in our house (3 sets of 14 stairs each). I inspected the seam, the cuts around the trim, looked at the trim for marks, made sure all walls were as we had left them- freshly painted. And sure enough it was PERFECT. Upon arrival I asked to see the padding lb and the carpet in the truck. All looked like what I ordered. The 3 guys were so nice. I offered them water and other goodies but they nicely declined.
All in all I am SO INCREDIBLY pleased. I would recommend if you are in the Chester County area of PA. We were so pleased he tipped them as well. Don’t let all of the negative reviews deter you. It depends on the contracted company that arrives. We lucked out big time. A 460 sq ft area was completed in just under 2.5 hours with removal of old carpet and padding to the time of the walk through. Love. Love. Love.

I stated it had to be waterproof due to some of my dogs missing the pads. Manager assured this flooring was waterproof. It was installed April 23, 2015. I called company on September 29, 2016, to state the finish in dining room was coming off the flooring in a few areas plus a nail head working way up in one board. I might add the cost of $4,100 was paid off in May 2015.
I was told nothing could be done since the guarantee for water proof was not stated in writing. Called again on September 29, 2017 & explained situation to new manager. He was very nice but could not make any repairs (I would have to pay for) since they no longer carried this flooring. I believe since I was an excellent customer, who paid for 2 loans thru Wells Fargo in record time, should have been treated better by having water proof laminate flooring re-installed in the dining room. Working on resolution since 3/27/19. I ordered a product that I still enjoy in early March. When the installation crew arrived they were upset about my floor being installed on a diagonal. Complained and let their displeasure be known, but they completed the project a day early. They were in a hurry to leave on the last day due to scheduling conflicts with their kids. No big deal. We completed a quick walkthrough and I pointed out that there were some stains on the floor. The installer handed me some Goof Off and said it would come right up. My son and I worked on it for about 5 hours that night, still have about 20 more spots to go. We then noticed some finishing details were not completed. I have had about 5 appointments scheduled/cancelled, etc.
Finally an installer made it out and finished the finishing work that quite honestly looked horrible prior. He admitted that he would not be able to get the stains up, it was going to take too much time, and his body couldn’t handle it. A couple of days later the trim piece cams off my step. I have nails exposed with 2 kids and 3 dogs. I had another appointment scheduled for this morning. Once again no show, no call. I have to take off work for these appointments and my floors aren’t cheap. We have been working on a resolution for 6 months. My house has been disrupted for 6 months. The stress has been consistent for 6 months. Today I will be using Good Off on my floor to continue working on getting the wax pencil off of my floor. At some point I would like my house back in order.

Empire Today did three rooms of carpeting in our home and they put laminate in a kitchen hallway and bath. But we did not have a good experience. As far as we’re concerned, Empire Today is a fraud. Their advertising is buy one room and the rest of the room is $50. I bought carpeting several times before from legitimate merchants. When you buy the carpeting, you’re buying by the square foot and it’s priced per square foot. When we got this from Empire, it’s an 18 page small font contract and you have to be a Philadelphia lawyer and spend a week’s time going through it. There was never a mention of that $50. They put us on another plan really fast. When the carpeting came in, the carpet layers did a nice job. The product is fine, but there’s a 12x14 piece of carpeting left. We paid for all of the carpeting. We bought it by the foot. What are we doing with 12x14 carpet, which we paid for?
On the kitchen hall and bath where we’ve got the laminate, we paid for the removal of the existing flooring. When the layers came, they said, “Oh, no. We don’t have to do that. We can lay right over it.” So, we paid for a full day. For the fellow that laid it, it would take a full day to remove it. We paid for that. They’re giving us $250 credit back. That’s a bunch of BS.
We met somebody down the street that’s renovating their home, and we got talking to them about carpeting. They were gonna call Empire Today, and when we told them about our experience, they went elsewhere. And I’ll talk to anybody that’s carpeting to find a local agent. This is a shyster operation out of Illinois. The people that sell are not part of Empire. The people that installed are all outside brokers to do the work for them. The contract is with Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo is giving them the rebates for the contract price. So, this is really a very bad case of how to do business.
Overall, the product is good. We were told it’s Mohawk. We have no way of knowing that it’s Mohawk or not. We had no idea what it was the square foot. If you buy from the legitimate company, you get a break down. We’ve been waiting for a month and they’re starting to get a little on the nasty side when we’re asking for things like a whole page of the expenses. I’m not dumb. I was a sales rep for a reputable manufacturer for 41 years. I know how to do business. This operation is far from legitimate.
We’ve been cheated. It’s like $3,500 on one, and about the same on the other. So, it appears like they charged me X amount of dollars for the laminate and X amount of dollars for the carpeting. The whole bill is coming under my name. Since it’s on dispute, it’s really hard to say. I talked to a person at Wells Fargo the other day. It comes in at contract amount, $7,500. I gave them $750 deposit on the credit card. They managed to give me $246 back. But I don’t see it all written down. And then there’s the $50 per carpeting in three rooms. It’s 150 bucks plus the people installing it. So, why does it come out to around $3,000?
Now, I’m under a different plan. They never really explained that you’re under a different plan, and now your price will be different. And I came home from work and I was tired, but when you see something advertised, you expect that it’s not gonna be 150 bucks ending up as $2,000. These are not large rooms. When the rep was showing it to me on his iPhone, not only is the print small, but now it’s even smaller. He did not come with a computer screen where I could sit down and see everything. I was totally caught completely off-guard. And then I gotta print out 18 pages. But I could go on my computer and read, and I went back and I reread everything.
I told them they made some damages on my paint on my wood, then the gal said, “Well, if you don’t read the contract, we’re not responsible for that.” And I thought, I just paid for everything to be painted right before the carpeting came. And when I told her, “I already talked to two people. They were calling Empire and I told them to go call somebody else,” she said, “Okay, whatever.” It’s like she didn’t care I would really do that. I’d like to see everything printed out, how much did the carpet people get, how much did the laminate people get for installing carpet, and exactly how much was the carpet. If they changed the plan, let me see how much it is. When I talk to Wells Fargo about this, they said we’ll never get any answers out of Empire.
Howard and Debbie, your concerns are important to us, and we sincerely apologize for your experience. We're looking into your concerns, and will be in touch with you shortly.

I had carpet installed by Empire Today in the big living room, hallway, bedroom, and stairs, and then a little hallway upstairs. I was kinda disappointed with the carpet. I thought it was actually thicker than it was because I didn't want a carpet that thin, but that’s the way it was. And another thing, I would assume it’s because the carpet is not hefty. The tackless that goes around, you’re stepping on the tackless. It’s coming right through the rug.
I was going with Home Depot, and it was a good carpet. I should’ve stayed with it, but it was 5,000. And Empire Today came up with 2,300. I said I want the good padding. And the rep said that with the good padding down, it’ll make a difference. So, I trusted him and went with it. He also had two color samples only, which I thought was very strange. I had two carpet jobs over the last month with Empire Today. I did a Google search and I didn’t get any other quote from anyone else. And the lady I worked with at Empire was really good and kind. She was also very informative and she answered all my questions. I’m a first-time homeowner so I really didn’t know that I was getting myself into and she kinda helped me pick some realistic options, let me know I could get what I wanted without breaking the bank. But it didn’t feel like she was just trying to only show me their most expensive option. She was very thorough and she showed me different price points and how I could get the look I wanted for a price that was satisfactory. Talking to her made me feel like I was in good hands and I wasn’t about to get ripped off. She was honest about what all the options were and I knew then that I didn’t wanna get any other quotes from anybody else.
I had the carpet installed in the bedroom and the den and so far, the flooring is incredible. The carpet in my bedroom is a nicer carpet and really comfortable. It looks nice. Also, the crew who came to set it up did a really good job. I left the tacks down so they didn’t have to put in new tacks, and it was a pretty simple installation. I like the texture of the carpet and it feels really good on bare feet. It seems like it’s gonna last a long time, too. It's sturdy as well and I’m very satisfied with my experience. It was worthwhile and informative, and I got everything I wanted at a price I could afford. I would recommend Empire Today to friends.

I apologize in advance this is going to be long in order for me to give proper details but I think it's important for people to see what we went through so they do not have to exp. the frustration. My husband and I used Empire twice in the 20 years we have owned our home. Each time the experience was great so when it was time to replace the flooring in our bedrooms I decided to call Empire again, seems that was a mistake. Called to get the estimate, it was set up for July 25th from 1-3. By approx 3:30pm no call, no salesperson, so I used the instant chat on their website. They apologized and we set it back up for the next day between 5-7pm. I had been in another city for a meeting and left early to make sure I could be home. At 5:45 the salesman called. I was trying to install the same laminate flooring in 3 of the bedrooms that they had previously installed and prior to the salesman coming they were aware of this.
When he called the salesman asked if I had a box of the laminate left, I said yes and he asked me to read the information from the box so he could have brand and color information. I thought that was odd because I had asked the person who helped me make the appointment to make sure he already had that information and whether or not we could get that flooring. Let me also add that the flooring we have is still advertised on their website as IN Stock. On the phone the salesman I think his name is Matthew told me that he did not believe they had that flooring nor could he get it. When I told him it was still on the website he told me that he didn't know how often the website was updated and that I might want to call another company to see if they could help me. I should have listened to him!
He told me he would see if he could locate the flooring and would call me Sat or Monday and that there was no point in him coming out until he knew that information. I never received that call. Wanting to give Empire the benefit of the doubt I called them back. They apologized, offered another appointment and to credit me $50.00 should I purchase flooring. I asked that I not be given the same salesperson as twice he had not come through. We were given another appointment, this time I chose between 5-7 so I would be done with work. I received a call from the Salesman that he was running late, I believe he arrived at 7:30 pm. From the get go he did not seem to know that I wanted to install the same laminate, that we already had in 3 of the bedrooms with carpet only going in the 4th bedroom.
He told me he did not know if they could get the laminate and his reasoning for it being on the website was that perhaps it was there so they could do warranty work. If that is the case why would it be publicly advertised? He measured the rooms and said that he would show me options for the rooms with laminate in case they could not get the one we have and I could pick carpet. He brought in one flooring option which was a vinyl plank on the higher end. He said he felt it was the only thing he had that would be close in color to our flooring, that nothing else they had would be close to a match. When he told me the price I almost fell out! Close to $5000.00 for 3 bedrooms and these are not large rooms. The 2 smaller rooms are about 100 sq feet and the larger room is about 120 sq ft.
When I explained that I had paid that for the entire living room, dining and kitchen to be done which is much more square footage he said that the vinyl flooring is better quality and had better warranties and that discounts were available. I did receive a discount however 3 bedrooms still ended up costing me $4200.00 Now the salesman told me he would call me the next day and let me know if he could get the matching laminate, and if they did have it a simple change order could be placed, the cost would be adjusted and we could move forward. Yep you guessed it, he never called. At this point it is my opinion that no one really even looked into getting the laminate that would match as the vinyl was a more expensive product.
Now on to installation. An appointment was made for the install to happen on a Tuesday and the carpet on a Thursday (we will get into the carpet in a bit). I was told mid week installs are cheaper because they are not as popular and that was part of my discount. I was also told install would take 1 day. Since my husband has a back injury and cannot lift I paid some friends to remove the furniture. The day of installation the installer called and did show up on time. It was 2 gentleman. I am not sure why the older gentleman was here as he didn't do any of the install so the one gentleman was working alone. He was courteous however the install ended up taking 2 days which was an issue because we run our business out of our home so we were trying to work remotely and did not have access to everything we need to do our job.
We had planned on making it work for one day but two put us behind because I had to change the plans to get people to come help reinstall our office furniture and get everything set back up. Let me say that the gentleman was kind and it appears he did a good job (time will tell how the floor holds up on the install end) but this man smelled so bad like body odor. It was 80+ degrees and he was working hard but dang the smell permeated the rooms and ended up making the area where we were working smell to the point where one of my office staff asked to work outdoors. He also got in what seemed like a 30 minute rather loud argument in another language. Listening to some argue was a bit uncomfortable for myself and my staff. The floor is installed. It looks good and we finally were able to get everything moved back in, defiantly not the smooth process we had in the past with Empire.
Now on to the carpet! The salesman showed me samples. I went with a mid/upper end carpet with pet protection as well as a high end pad that had pet and spill protection built in. A bit on the expensive side but it was higher end, had the pet protection so we decided to move forward on that as well. The appointment was made for Thursday and I was told that an installer would call in the morning to give us a time frame and that the install would take a couple of hours. Thursday morning we got up early, had the people we hired come move the furniture out of our bedroom and because our bed is an adjustable bed and a king size we ended up having to put it out our french doors and on to our deck. 10 am and I had not heard from anyone.
I called Empire, I was told my appointment had been rescheduled, weird since I had not heard from anyone. When I told the lady, "No, I had not. No one had told me about that" she asked me for my phone number and address. She then asked if a phone number sounded familiar. When I told her that number did not belong to anyone in my family she put me on hold. When she came back she said she had called the number and that it belonged to someone else who had been rescheduled and she thought what happened was that someone had put another customer's notes on our account but our install would happen that day and we were now priority and the installer would be calling me.
An hour goes by, no call, I call back. I now get a gentleman who tells me that there is no mistake I have been rescheduled. When I said no and explained the situation he put me on hold, came back and said, "Nope. I confirmed you have been rescheduled." I explained again the error that the 1st lady had told me happened and that I had not heard from anyone regarding a reschedule. He offered for me to speak with a supervisor. Upon speaking to the supervisor I was told there was no way I was getting the install done today as the installer was sick and they had no one else. She said it could be done tomorrow and offered a $100.00 discount. I explained that I had paid people to move my furniture that my bed was outside and I was going to have to try and get them to come back put at least my bed back in and then pay them to remove it again the next morning and that was if they were even going to be available to do so.
Basically nothing she could do. I was frustrated, there seems to be no concern for the customer. I ended up contacting another flooring company and asking if they would be able to do a same day install. I explained that the furniture was out and it was only one bedroom. I got lucky and got a upper end carpet pet protection, the whole bit, and the higher end pad as well, installed the same day and it ended up being a bit less expensive as well! When I called to cancel Empire the lady just kept trying to reschedule the Install and when I finally got through that I would not be using them she offered a $500.00 discount. She seemed surprised when I still said no.
Please learn from my experience. It seems that this is not the Empire carpets of past years and changes have happened in this company that have impacted service. I do hope they will get things back together and become a quality company with good service again some day.
1. If you call Empire and have a salesperson come to your home get the Estimate do not agree to use them right then. They will try and offer discounts and such to get you to agree depending on the sales person. They may pressure you with talk of sales ending etc. Get at least one but if you can two more estimates this will let you see if you are getting the best price for the type of flooring you want. After the fact I discovered that I overpaid for my flooring a bit and that the install indeed should have taken 1 day.
2. Check reviews. Had I checked recent reviews in regards to Empire instead of going of my previous experience a few years ago I would have seen the current issues that are happening right now as I am not the only person that has had the above exp. If they get things worked out I am sure the reviews will change to reflect people having a better exp.
At the end of it all I finally have completed floors. It was frustrating and extremely stressful and I ended up paying people to move our furniture more than I expected I would have to. I ended up with a home in disarray longer than expected (for someone with OCD not a fun exp). I am hoping that with the price I paid for my vinyl it will hold up to the warranty the salesman promised me and that if I do need warranty work that it will go much smoother than all of this did. This is my experience. I hope I don't have to replace flooring for many years to come but if I do I just don't think I would choose Empire or refer them to friends or colleagues as this was just to stressful.
Connie, thank you for making us aware of your experience. We apologize for the miscommunication that you received and will be in touch with you soon.

I was online chatting with somebody from Empire Today trying to set up an appointment for the weekend, this was on a Friday. They said they were all booked up and couldn’t do it until the following week, and I said that it was fine and that we would go look elsewhere, and that if we could not find what we wanted, we would call or online chat them back. Then, the next morning, at 8:30, as we were about ready to head out to go look elsewhere, somebody from Empire showed up at the front door and said that they had an appointment. So, that was funny.
The person who came was very good and helpful. He also showed us everything. We're a little nervous about the vinyl planking, because the salesman had told that, “It’s super hard and this is gonna happen to it,” but then as we were trying to research how to clean it properly according to the manufacturer's website it seems like it’s a little bit more susceptible to scratching than the salesman had led on. Although, I haven’t seen anything scratch it yet. So maybe they just have to put everything on the website. But we love the carpet. It’s very plush and really looks nice compared to what was in the house that the prior folks had put in. We really liked it.

After several weeks due to my schedule I arranged a date to get the correct padding installed because the salesman that came out to the house screwed up the you order, I took a vacation day off work. I was told someone would be at my house between 9 and 12 so I called at 12:30 when no-one had showed up. I was then told someone would be in my house between 2 and 4. When someone failed to show up between those hours I received the call at 4:30 telling me that someone would be at my house at 8 at night if that was okay. I have five grandkids that live with me. Coming at 8 is not acceptable.
On top of having to burn a vacation day I was also told I had to pay $132 because they wrote up the wrong padding... I have left several messages for Rosa at Empire's customer service with no call back yet. This is one of the biggest jokes I have dealt with and should have just gone with a local company and paid a little extra... As I post this I am still waiting for Empire to contact me with a time when they can come out to fit the schedule in my house. My advice go with a local company in your town.

Was having carpet and flooring installed in my home last Monday 8/5. The gentleman that came to install the flooring was great, no issues or problems. Done in 3 hours. Finally the carpet installers arrived after 12pm to install the carpet with no phone call. After the 2 gentlemen were done doing the measurements they find out that they are 10 feet short. They tell me there is nothing that they can do except come back at a later date. I call the customer service line. Explain to them the situation. They do NOTHING. The installers install what they could and left the stairs for a later date. We set up another appointment for that following Saturday 8/10 telling customer service that they need to be at my house at 9am because we had plan for that day.
Needless to say those plans were canceled because the installers showed up at 2:30pm. Called customer service again and asked to speak to a manager. No one is available. Finally on Monday a manager calls me back and offers me $50 for my troubles. To me that is insulting after having to miss a day with my family. She then offers me $100 and pretty much says take it or leave it. The customer service with this company is garbage. As a matter of fact there is no customer service. Find someone local to do your flooring or carpet. Might have to spend a little more but you would not have to deal with the garbage they call customer service.

First, I'd like to begin by telling you that the crews who came out to do the work, were all excellent and did an amazing job. I couldn't be happier with the work they performed, and the condition they left my condo in upon completion. I am having a big problem with the additional charge of $630.00 (was $730.00 originally) being leveraged against me for leveling my concrete sub-floor before the laminate could be installed. Upon hearing that I was going to be charged this fee, I called the original estimator who went to my condo and confirmed what the install crew was stating and that the install couldn't continue without this work being done.
At this time I asked for the install to be canceled and wanted my original carpeting put back in. I was told that this was no longer an option as my carpeting had already been cut into small strips and was loaded into the van. I then asked what choice do I have, but to accept this fee? This was a question that still hasn't been answered. I believe my exact words in response were, "you have painted me into a corner and are now asking me to pay to get out of it."
This in my opinion is not a very ethical way of doing business. I'd be astonished to hear that my condo is the first place you guys have installed laminate flooring in, with a concrete sub-floor that turns out to be uneven. Costs of leveling the floor should be included in your quotes, and not a surprise add-on during the install. You guys are the ones who cut my carpeting into strips and made it impossible for it to be re-installed. Why would this have been done before talking with me? So, again please tell me what choice was I given but to tell you to proceed? What would you guys have done had, I said not to proceed? Would I have been left with an exposed concrete subfloor in my living room? Is that an acceptable way to leave a customer's home in?
Let's say, you took your car to a mechanic for a brake job which you are given an estimate for. During the repair, they discover that you need new tires and they call you to inform you about it. At this point you tell them not to perform the work at all, to which they reply that they have already destroyed your tires and they can no longer be used. Honestly, how would you feel? Would you think this is a fair practice on their end? Beware!!!!

We were signed and put a deposit down, suppose to start in a couple days. Received a call yesterday and said they can't do the stairs with the vinyl plank but if we paid more (1000.00 for 7 steps) it could get done or just put carpet on them which is not what we want. So now our deposit has been accepted and we can't get it back for up to two weeks. Missed out on another bid price from different company and now am paying more and out 3 weeks to get our floors done. Very unprofessional I far as I'm concerned.

The sales rep was new and he was learning so that was fine. He was very patient and I was too. I almost got the wrong carpet but that was understandable and we got it straightened out and I got the right carpet.
The fellows that installed it were very nice, pleasant and I had no problem there but they put the seam right smack down the middle of the living room. It's a really big living room and that seam sticks up like a sore thumb. Every time I walk over it, it bothers me. It should have been put down by a sidewall, like under where a couch would go. I'm giving it a couple of weeks to see if I can walk on it to get it to flatten down. It's been almost three weeks now and it sticks up and it's right there and I hate it. I was just about to call somebody to do something about it. The living room needs to be redone. It looks terrible but the rest of the carpet is wonderful. The house is 1,600 square feet and they did the whole house. It was a big job and they really did a good job, except for that seam.

So we had a rep come out the other day. Found a nice flooring within our price range. All is going well. The rep say a few issues with our floor as we had particle board so we agreed with the rep that they would have someone come out to repair with new plywood. Cost give or take $800. Still everything is going well. This is when it all went South fast. My son and I moved most of the furniture the night before everything was supposed to take place. Well my wife and I both take the day off to be here when they repair the floorboard and install new flooring. Well guy gets here with flooring and says, "We can't do it." I was like, "I thought you were here to repair our floorboard as this is what our sales rep told and agreed upon first." He said, "No. We only install flooring." So he calls his boss. There was never a request to repair our floorboard at all.
So the guy said he can call his boss again and see if someone can come over the same day as I was promised to fix the floorboard but couldn't guarantee if it would be the $800 I was quoted. I was like that is fine. At this point my house is a mess from all the furniture moving and them pulling up my carpet to look at it so I'm stuck over a Barrel. So the installer said wait about 30 min and the person should call me about the floorboard repair. No call came in. So I called the salesman who came out and they said we had asbestos!! We were floored. I'm like where did this come from all off a sudden. Then they said, "We can do it but this will have to be done first and checked out." I was like this is not right at all. Then they said, "We can sell you some carpet. No problem." At that point I was beyond furious. I cancelled everything. If you deal with this company beware of a lot of bait and switch.

There was a second room that we needed to have a transition installed between carpet and tile and after making a phone call the salesman said they could do the second transition. This was included in the contract. The day of installation, the installers said they could not do the second transition because "they were not the carpet guys" and told me to work with Empire to get the right people out there. Two tickets/work requests later I get a phone call from a RUDE service rep who told me they would not do the second transition and it didn't matter that it was in the contract and she was "sorry that it wasn't what I wanted to hear." We already had hardwood flooring installed about eight years ago in our living room so we wanted something that was similar to that. We got the Brazilian Koa and it has a lot of character to it, and we found something that was a perfect match. The boards were a little thinner, which is what we wanted, and it looks great. We have a free-standing fireplace when we built the house. It’s on a slate but it looks almost like an upside-down sombrero so it’s very unusual and that was the problem when we went with any other places, like how they would fit around the base of the fireplace.
I liked the way that Empire could get the thing done quicker. The other places were smaller companies and it was gonna take them a week, 10 days. My husband couldn’t work around that. He’s in a power wheelchair and very handicapped. Empire was absolutely fantastic, from the guy that came in and quoted it for us. Their prices were fair. Then the installer was amazing. He and his helper were excellent, pleasant and hardworking. Once they started, they never stopped. I was dreading the installation and my husband sat there. They were patient with him and explained to him what they were doing. They moved back the large furniture then they got us all set up, took everything away and they cleaned everything up.
They would’ve finished on that Monday, except whoever estimated it shorted one box, and they already had an installation scheduled on Tuesday. The guy came back on Wednesday and finished it up and did all the molding. He was incredible. He made nothing out of the flooring. It looks perfect. We have people come in and they are blown away at how good it looks. I have already recommended Empire to several people.

Our sales rep was excellent as is the carpet we purchased. However, the installation process was a complete and total nightmare and I cannot give anyone a positive recommendation to use Empire Today. First off, we purchased our carpet with the sales rep on 7/13/2019 with a scheduled install date of 7/17/2019. When the installers arrived they found asbestos in 2 of the rooms and told us they did not have the special adhesive to install in the other room that had ceramic tile and had to put the entire project on hold. We could understand needing to put the install of the carpet on hold until the asbestos was removed, but they should’ve been carrying proper install tools and equipment on their truck.
The installers left and we found someone to test and remove the asbestos. This was completed on 8/9/2019 and our carpet install was scheduled to be completed on 8/10/2019. Upon arrival, the installers arrived yet again without the proper adhesive for the living room and with not enough carpet to complete the entire job. Meaning they will need to come back a third time.
I’ve called into the 800 number several times for assistance and I have not been able to get anywhere. Just promises that the adhesive was noted to be on the truck and that we need to wait until Monday 8/12/2019 to speak with an installation manager. No one even had consideration of the fact that we’ve been in a hotel for the last 2 nights due to this, had to rent a U-Box to store everything during the asbestos removal and carpet install, and your installers wouldn’t help put furniture back even though we paid for the furniture moving service with the installation of the carpet. No one has even given us an apology or any sort of help. Needless to say, this has been an awful experience that I’m looking forward to being done with. For the amount of money we paid, I would’ve expected more from Empire Today and to have at least received some sort of apology for the lack of customer care and support given.

We have recently moved into a new office and warehouse space. We have had a bunch of renovations done to that office space, so when those were done we had Empire come in and install new carpet for us. The installation seemed to go ok. However, about a month in we began having HORRIBLE fraying around the seam in the middle of the room. I figured we could just call and have the carpet looked at and eventually fixed due to it being under both manufacturer's warranty as well as the installation warranty.
I have now called on 6 separate occasions and simply gotten reference numbers. Each time I was told that I would be contacted by someone to set up an appointment to have it looked at. And every time I called back, it was in the notes that someone had reached out to us and we did not answer. That is an actual lie. They have not only the business phone, but my work cell phone, my personal cell phone, and my Operation Managers call phone numbers. We have had no missed calls or voicemails.
Finally I did receive a call from Mandy ** who I was told is an Installation Manager. An appointment was set up for 8-9-19 but no time was given to me as to when the actual arrival of the technician would be. I informed them that our office closes at 4pm and I needed to know if I had to stay late. I was told it should be before them. At the time of writing this it is now 3:56pm and still nothing. This is very frustrating that there is such a lack of caring from the customer service aspect. I am in an Installation business and if one of my installers or our customer service employees treated a customer like this I would be sick to my stomach. Empire has done nothing but proven how unprofessional they really are. I hope this matter gets resolved but I am not holding my breath.

I had floors and drapes installed by Empire Today at my property in Florida. I was amazed by the service and workmanship there. Recently, I contacted Empire again in Levittown, Pennsylvania where I have asbestos tiles in a house that I'm gonna sell. I scheduled the appointments to have carpet and hardwood floors done. All houses in Levittown have 9 x 9 asbestos square tiles put on the floors when they are built. Over the years, some people have replaced them, some people have carpeted over them, but every home in Levittown had the asbestos done in it.
The gal who was the salesperson called to tell me she was gonna be a little late, 9:30 as opposed to 9:00, which was nice. When she walked through the door, she asked if I have the original asbestos tiles on the floor. My answer was yes. She then closed the book and said she can't help me. They couldn’t do anything for me unless I tore up the carpet and I remove the asbestos tiles. She had to call in the main office and I had to affirm that she showed up for the appointment and say that she couldn’t help me because of the situation. I understand that they want to make sure that their salespeople keep their appointments, but corporate talked to me and didn't trust the lady who was representing them. That was like a little dog and pony show that doesn’t reflect well on Empire Today.

I had carpet installed in the whole house and the most rewarding part of it was Empire Today's installing company. Hats off to Jose and his crew of five. They were so unbelievably professional. They came to my house and they were so courteous and obliging. Because everything had to be moved to get the carpets in their place and then had to be moved back, I asked them and in a second, they were moving everything around. It was very smooth. I have people coming into my house all the time and it's not always the same experience.
Also, when the rep came, he showed us all the choices and also went through the prices. I went to wood flooring and he gave the price for that too. He went through everything and ultimately, I decided that I'm more comfortable with the carpet under my feet. I changed my mind once but they were very cooperative. All in all, my experience with Empire Today has been excellent and I've been very satisfied. I give them A plus on everything.

Considering Empire Today's customer service, I decided to purchase our carpets and padding through them. I was actually scheduled to go with Home Depot but I canceled. The gentleman from Empire who came out to help me was very knowledgeable. He had really great decorating ideas and matching it to the paint and stuff in my home. He was also very personable, and we had a fabulous time together. The installers were wonderful as well. I asked him about the stuff that go on the floor because the people before me had a pet. He put down the stuff that I was asking about. He knew exactly what I was talking about. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. I had the carpet installed in all three bedrooms and the family room, and I like everything about it. It’s soft, nice and cushy. I love the color, which is exactly what I was looking for. Once it was down on the floor and I saw what it looked like, I fell in love with it.

Empire Today put in vinyl wood planks in the entire house. I picked the vinyl because the sales guy explained to me that if I was gonna have them in the bathroom, I don't have to worry about it ever lifting like what the laminate does. Also, I ultimately went with it because of the price. They price match what another installer had quote them. The guys who came to install it were really fast. They finished it in one day. They did a good job finishing out everything. The flooring is easy to clean and it has been great.

I made a carpet order 2 weeks prior to when installation was to be done. I took PTO from work on the day that they were supposed to arrive, which was this Monday. Mid-day and I still had not heard anything. An installer finally called and said my carpet hadn't arrived to the warehouse yet. He thought maybe the order had just been put in, which makes zero sense. He said it should arrive the next day, Tuesday around 1pm since the carpet should be arriving between 11a and 1pm.
Here we are, Tuesday afternoon and no one has touched base. When I called customer service, they said no one has been assigned to my job yet, so there is nothing they can do about it. We just wait? I am beyond frustrated, as we were supposed to move into this house in 2 days and now we have to push our entire move back, since there can't be furniture where the flooring is being replaced. Not even that, but I have no way of finding out if the carpet did in fact arrive today, or when the heck they think they will grace me with their presence and do the job I've paid them for. SCAM.

My son had a very good luck with his flooring from Empire Today, and it was really nice. So I also got laminates, the LVT, and carpet from them. The purchasing part was very easy. When it came to the installation, the first guy was amazing. But the second group that did the LVT sucked completely. They had to send two more groups of people out after that to correct the error. And the carpet was fine. But nobody cleans up after themselves and that really sucks, except for the first guy. The other ones left nails, and staples, and paper laying all over, and sawdust. And they used my towel with the toilet on. This group of people was disappointing. They put cord around in places. It looked like I had a dog turd against the wall. It was terrible.
The installation manager, Evan, is terrible. He doesn’t return phone calls. He considers everything done when the order is done. He hasn’t called me back to tell me how much he’s gonna pay because they broke the tile in my bathroom. They haven’t sent out the $50 referral fee or Amazon gift card for referring me to my son. None of those things have occurred, and it has been two weeks. But the products have good quality, and I love my flooring.

Acknowledge they request all decision makers to be present when salesperson comes "free estimate"; however, we told them upfront that would not be possible. Our experience with Empire Carpet: 1. Salesperson was late even with 2 hour window (1100 - 1300). 2. Asked for three different options (all carpet replacement, partial wood, and carpet with wood floors in 3 bathrooms) with medium grade carpet and padding but got only verbal estimates for premium carpet and padding price and wood floor in bathrooms. 3. Got very aggressive stating we had to make decision to replace right there and then to get 30% discount rather than keeping the company's promise of "price good for 30-days". 4. When told we had to think about it, he got mad stating not all decision makers were not together and walked out without giving us a written estimate.
Our take on the situation - He was rude, represented the company in a very bad light, pressure sales tactics when in fact $9,000 is not a chump change. Must think about the household finances now we know how much it would cost to replace the carpet (approximately 2,000 sq). We called the company to file a complaint, the person was very nice and sounded like he was taking our complaint. However, no one called us back within 24 hours as the customer service person stated!! I see the company's ad all the time on TV and thought I give them a try... Man, what a waste of my time and energy. So disappointed!!!

I called customer service in TX and was put on hold for over 10 minutes before I was told that the man I had been working with was on the phone, but this person would send them an email and they would call me back. 20 minutes later, installers waiting and threatening to leave, I called back the main customer service number in tears as I had woken up at 3:30am to disassemble my bed and my house was a disaster to accommodate the installation. They finally figured it out. There was an added difficulty of a language barrier as the installers spoke little English and I speak no Spanish. They began installing (about an hour after they arrived) and then left for a 1.5 hour lunch. They had one small room left to do and I was assured the carpet would be there and the installers were set to come out the following day.
I called the following morning to confirm before I left work early again. I got home just to receive a call from an extremely rude install manager telling me they wouldn’t be making it out that day. They would be there between 2 and 6 the next day. Meanwhile, I can barely navigate my bedroom with all of the furniture being kept in there. The following day at 5:30 I receive a call saying that 2-6pm was now going to be 8:30pm. At 8:45pm I called customer service again and they told me that the new ETA was 9:30pm. They showed up at 10pm and left at 11:57pm. I work early mornings and the stress of having my house torn apart for days as well as taking unnecessary time off was very upsetting and no one seems to be lifting a finger to help me get a discount. I would pay the extra money for a decent installation any day over Empire! Not worth it! Terrible customer service and they do not follow through with the contracted agreements.

It was like pulling teeth. Many cell phones and even Service 800#s routinely had full voicemails so you can't even leave a message.
Installers were then supposed to come on a Friday. Was aware that they could come anytime between 8 am - 6 pm. After several attempts to reach them that day to see when they would be arriving, finally connected with them @ 3:30 that Friday. They said they would be there between 4:30 and 5 pm and said the job would only take 2 hours. Found it hard to believe that installing carpet for 3 BR, basement stairs, and basement that ran the length of our house would only be a 2 hour project. Asked them to reschedule that as I was not going to wait around until at least 7pm on a Friday.
So when they finally did install it the following Tuesday it took 4 and 1/2 hours. Am glad I did not wait for that on a Friday evening. I had already took a vacation day on Friday and wasted the entire day. Could never reach anyone in authority to address the ongoing issues we encountered. I would not recommend Empire to anyone.

Empire Today installed a hardwood laminate in the hallway and the den. I went to about 10 different places that did flooring before I made the decision and they were cheaper than Empire. I went with them because they seem to be trustworthy on commercials and I figured they will stand behind their product. I like the flooring. The installation went fairly well but they didn't clean up. They had to mix some concrete to do some laminate on the floor so they poured the dry concrete mix in my grass. I didn't know it until my sprinkler system came on. Also, they left those razor blades that they used in the machine to cut the flooring at a different angle.
They put down some laminate and part of it was defective. It started coming up within two days. I called and told them, and they said somebody was gonna call me back in 72 hours. Nobody called me back in three days so I waited on the fourth day and I called. The lady said she was gonna escalate it and somebody was gonna call me back in 4 days. I said I needed to talk to a supervisor. So I talked to the supervisor and she said she's the only person who's coming to Memphis area. I told her that was not a good answer for me. She said she could have somebody out there in seven days but she couldn't give me a time. She said she didn't know what time they were gonna come, but they would come in seven days. I said, "You want me to take off the whole day?" She said that was the best she could do.
They came out on the seventh day and the guy looked at it. I was trying to show him and he took some putty and tried to glue the piece down. I said, "Man, that ain't gonna work. I paid you money. I ain't taking from them no glue. And you all gonna take this back up. Otherwise, Imma stop payment, and y'all gonna get no money." So he took the floor part back up, took out the bad piece and redid it. They couldn't speak English. I understand Empire Today has people that don't speak good English, and I ain't got any problem with that 'cause the work that they did was good. It wasn't the worker. I had carpet installed at home, which I did through Empire. They had a good price and we had gone with them before when we first moved in the house years ago, so we just went back with them again. However, the salesperson who first came out told me that their installers can do this certain thing, but when the people came out, they said, "You know, she's just the salesperson. She really doesn't know what goes on with the actual installation." But the installers were great. They ended up doing over and above what they anticipated, for which I paid them out of my pocket because what they did was difficult.
I was told that they would just move my Sleep Number bed from one side of the room to the other and lay the carpet down. But then, they had to dismantle the entire bed and ended up breaking part of it, which I didn't notice until after they had left. It was not their fault, as they were not expecting to have to do that, and to me, it's just the cost of life. So then, I called the Sleep Number people and they sent someone out here for $200, which even adding that to the amount of the carpet still didn't come to the price of other carpet estimates that I had gotten. So, I'm still ahead of the game.
Another thing that I didn't notice until after they had left and I really had a chance to walk on the carpet is that, in some places, the carpet pad makes noise when I walk over it. So I'm wondering about that, thinking if they put the pieces down correctly. Nevertheless, I don't expect perfection in this world - it doesn't do anything and the carpet doesn't bunch up or look bad. I would still recommend Empire.

They had good marketing too, which drew me to see how much it would cost me if I used them versus somebody else. I had new carpeting put in throughout my house. I liked the color of the flooring. It's tan and doesn't show dirt. I have wood flooring and I was trying to match up something that went with it and the flooring does.
The reps were wonderful guys. They were sufficient and did what they needed to do. There was no debate. I could ask them questions and they'd explain it. And if they didn't, we'd call their supervisor and find out if it could be or couldn't be. And if it could be, they went and did it. They moved the furniture around because I couldn't. I took all the knick-knacks and everything out. Then, they went to work and moved. I have a patio home, so it's difficult to move around things, but they had a system down to moving everything into one room and carpeting that room then, moving everything back. It worked well and smoothly. And by the end of the day, they were done.
My experience with Empire Today has gotten better and better. The first time, I had problems. Part of it was that I was naive to the structure of it and I really had some issues. But then, it got straightened out, and from there on, I had no problems. I liked this latest group that came. I like them all, but each time someone comes and does some work for me, it seems like I get a better group than the group before. The latest group that came out was so concerned and pleasing. They made sure that we were pleased with what was done. It was an older guy and a younger guy. I was pleased with what they did.

I called and they tried to say that someone came by, I said I want a name and the time they came, and she then said, "Oh, no, sorry, actually no one came by, but we tried to call your wife and she canceled," so I said, "What number do you have for my wife because she says no one called," and she said, "Oh, wait no, actually that didn’t happen, but did you want to reschedule?" NOPE. NOT EVER.

After much back and forth, Empire Today stood behind their product and fixed installation problems that surfaced after four years. They sent out a rock star crew. The crew was awesome and efficient. Carpeting once again looks new. I am now a satisfied customer with Empire Today. I appreciate their willingness to remedy this problem.

Empire Today may warranty their products but installation warranty is one year only. Read the fine print also, they have a deny/deny/deny mentality with any claims and are glad to find a reason not to honor warranty. Read the fine print. Must shampoo carpeting every 16 months or warranty void. Must use their crew to stretch carpeting or warranty void. They demand you throw more money their way before they fix any problems! I spent a lot of money in putting in new floors in my entire house. Three years after install I have problems in every single room of my house. I regret giving them my business and wished I had gone local.
Jacqueline, we regret to hear that you feel this way. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we'll be further looking into this matter. Thank you!

After inquiring about an estimate on flooring, the rep came out promptly. He said I would be able to take a picture of the contract on his iPad, but conveniently diverted my attention. He told me there were several discounts that I could take advantage of, called WF for financing and got an approval. He asked me to initial in particular areas & supposedly told me what I was signing for & told me I could save by paying the balance off within the 12-24 months, I inquired about window blinds, he gave me my balance & suggested that I contact Empire when ready to purchase the blinds. When I tried to contact him the next day for a detailed itemized copy of my contract, & every day after, not only did he not answer his phone, he didn’t return any of my messages.
I received the bill and with every payment I’ve been charged a $60.00 finance fee! The rep told me it was interest free for either 12 or 24 months. Why on earth would I as a senior & retired person want to pay a $60.00 finance fee from my payment? I called Empire & a rep to come out regarding the window blinds, 7000.00 for faux wood blinds, then knocked it down to 3500 when I immediately said no to the 7000.00. Empire asks me why I didn’t purchase the flooring through an email that directs me to this survey. I did purchase the flooring, I didn't purchase the blinds. The installers were prompt & timely, however, there are dips in the flooring in two rooms both by the entrances, it feels as though additional padding is needed. I’m waiting on someone from Empire to make this right!

I was contacted by the company on August 7 to schedule an appointment for the installer to come and re-stretch the carpet. I was advised there would be a $140 labor fee. I agreed to paying the fee. The installer arrived this morning, August 8. Noah ** was very knowledgeable about carpeting. He took pictures of the "ripples" and explained what and how he was going to resolve the situation. He was polite, detail oriented, expedient, and professional. The carpet looks great. I am happy with the resolution. I have a 3 star because of the aggravation I had to go through. I would give Noah 5 Stars.

We had the carpeting installed 3 years ago. We had purchased a higher grade carpeting and floor padding. Initially it looked nice. There are two adults and 2 small dogs in the household. When we had our carpet cleaner, who we have used for years, come over to clean them he told us the carpet wasn't wearing well and advised that we should contact the company. I contacted the company and was told I needed to pay a $75.00 inspection fee. I paid the fee and the inspector came out and took pictures. He agreed with the carpet cleaner. I thought, Great! I asked him about next steps. He advised he would submit the report and someone would get back to us within two weeks and that the company was timely with resolutions. That didn't happen so I called the company and asked for a status report. I was told to send a copy of the receipt that I had the carpets cleaned to be able to prove I was still under the 25 year warranty. I did as I was asked.
Two weeks went by and nothing. I emailed them and asked for an update. No response after two weeks. I called and left a message. I received a phone call and was asked how often I vacuumed. I advised weekly. I was told the case would be reviewed and a response for resolution would be given. Again no response. I emailed and called several times. The last voicemail I left was terse. I received a call and was advised that I needed to send a picture of my vacuum cleaner and pictures of the carpet that were not wearing well and where it was rippling. Of course I did.
By this time it really was no surprise that there was no response. The carpet was only 2 years old. My husband said give it up. I did as he suggested because of the frustration and aggravation. Why am I complaining now. The rippling in the carpeting is worse and now a couple of inches high. I tripped on one today and almost took a header. I am 67 years old and not as nimble as I used to be. Obviously by now I am really upset and thought it would be a good idea to share with the hope this doesn't happen to someone else because they were made aware of my situation.

Updated on 08/01/2019: Talked to salesman, explained no one showed up to install flooring when scheduled. Said he'd have his manager call us. After flooring installed 3 days later no calls from salesman or manager. Not good.
Original Review: Initially, the customer service and the product itself from our first job that we really love made us choose Empire Today. Everybody who comes in the house loves it and we know that at least one person is self-installing the exact same floor that we have. Empire did an amazing job and we love it. They put in vinyl plank laminate flooring for us and they did a fantastic job. This is our second job with them. Art, the salesman from Empire Today, was a nice guy and he told us that they would be here Friday, and today is Friday.
Some lady called this morning and told us that they have been trying to call us, which we know was not true. We have those CapTel phones that writes up a transcript for everything we’re saying. Whether they leave a message or not, we have a phone number, who the company is or who the person is. So, we looked back on that, no one ever called us, even though that woman said they were gonna call us every day. So, she lied to us on top of everything else. I said in a nice way that we’ve been here and she asked when we wanted to set up our appointment. I told her they were supposed to be here today. She said that there was no appointment set, they didn’t have our material in stock and they couldn’t be here until Monday. I told her that wasn’t right. We already moved things around for the day, and now, we gotta move things around for Monday. By not showing up, it takes away from the first job that we were so happy with.
We were gonna have a master bath, a regular bath and then, the laundry room installed with flooring. When asked when they thought they were going to come, the rep said that every time they set up an appointment, they set it up that the window is from 8 o’clock in the morning ’til 6 o’clock in the evening. They said they could not narrow us down. It was their window and so, if their appointment was on Friday, they have to be there between 8:00 and 6:00. He was told that we would make sure that we would be here between 8:00 and 6:00. We never heard another phone call from anybody about anything until this morning when the woman called.
We already paid half and Empire cannot do this to us. We’re talking about almost $1,100. Art was kind enough to come out to our house, and we sat down and we did the contract. He knew exactly what we wanted and now, we’re sitting here waiting for the salesman to call us back because he didn’t answer his phone. Hopefully, we can work it out. If not, then we have to try to move things to Thursday or Friday of next week. Also, if they didn’t have the vinyl, they should have known that. Home Depot has the vinyl that we purchased for this job. So, if Empire doesn’t have it, they should go and find it someplace else. They were talking about customer service here and they already got half their money. They should not call us the day of installation and say that they’re not coming.

We had worked with Empire Today about five years ago. We bought some of their carpeting. This time, we got wood floor paneling. Their rep was great. He’s very informative and very knowledgeable. The installer was very friendly, cooperative, and did a great job. We had a lot of things to move, so he had to do two visits. Our new floor paneling makes the basement look completely different. It's like a new room in the house.

I would never recommend this company. Sales rep made empty promises including that job would take 1 day, maybe 2 hours into 2nd day. We were not looking for fast – we were looking for well done. There were promises and statements made, that were not reality. At first sight installer told us point blank that it could not be done in one day – even with the two installers. We were erroneously promised. The job took 3 full days! We were given many incorrect pieces of information from the get-go and left to deal with those empty promises as they unraveled themselves.
Our floor is finished. To the unprofessional eye, it looks fine. Time will tell if the installation was done correctly. We put our faith in our installer, and can only hope it was justified. Before choosing Empire I went on the website and read the accolades. I should have also read the complaints. If I had, I would have seen that empty promises are the bulk of them; not so much the product, not so much the install… but lies about the time and manpower necessary for the job.
We now believe that, after a promised one day job turned into three, when materials needed for the job were not supplied correctly, and that not once did anyone from Empire Today follow up, is that they really aren’t interested in customer satisfaction, and are aware of the empty promises made… But eventually time will tell and the Empire Today name will be synonymous with poor quality, poor reputation. If anyone asks us for a referral for a flooring company. We will tell them about our experience with Empire Today and caution them that what they are told by the Empire Today sales rep, maybe a far cry from what happens when the job is scheduled to take place. I will tell you firsthand that the sales team can sell the product. The problem is they tell you that the company stands behind their product, push that it carries a warranty, and assures you that the company will be there if an issue arises. Beware, that is not true. I was a repeat customer and called them to set up a repair. It took 4 trips to get the job done. The first three times I scheduled, they did not have the correct materials upon arrival after numerous phone calls with customer service. Then on the fourth trip, an installer set the appointment without confirming the date or time with the.customer. I found out at the last minute and had to leave my job unexpectedly. Upon arrival, I was told I would have to pay an additional 221.57 after I had paid for the job on Friday. They could not finish due to lacking materials.
I was on the phone over an hour to settle this before the job was even started. Therefore, this cost me time and money. I would think twice before using their company. Customer service is a must with me and I truly do not feel that I received adequate service. The only positive was the installer. He was professional and courteous.

Initially, Empire had missed an appointment and they never told me it was canceled so I was a little annoyed about that. But Empire Today handled it well. The woman that I spoke with on the phone said it was completely their fault and gave me another 10% discount on the carpet if I went with it. They were very nice to accommodate me for my wasted time. Excuse was they had a call off sick. Gave benefit of doubt and decided to purchase carpet. Well few days later they called and again cancel installation due to installer calling in sick! Seems like they have a lot of sick workers. Then they promised a early install time next day and that did also did not happen. So unfortunately I do not want to give business to this type of company. I have spoken to Kieran at "upper management" who claimed we would get a full refund. That was July 19th. Now I call today, stay on the phone for over 48 minutes to be told that it has been longer than 3 months and we cannot get a refund.
I have spent at least 3-5 hours of my time on hold to be constantly given the runaround. This company has purposely dragged this out just to do this to us. We have voicemail messages on my husband's phone stating that they were sorry for not showing up and wanted to reschedule. This has been a horrible experience. All the carpet and everything was already out of the new house so, we had to have something and someone who could install it quickly. When we went to Empire Today, everything was great. The rep was nice and explained everything. He also showed us all the samples and it was very good. We had quite a few to pick from. We got carpet, laminate flooring and tile in the bathroom, and the installation went fine. I like the pad underneath the carpeting. It is so nice and soft. Salesman came displaying cheapest product 1st & price was high. Used that product to settle on a price within our range. Then increased product quality raising the price accordingly. Problem is that base low price was too high for the product. So any increases retained that overpriced percentage ratio making every overpriced, sales gimmick. Was assured we were getting the best padding. We were willing to pay extra for it. Used that against us as if they were doing us a favor by not charging us extra for the best. Padding turned out to be the cheapest on the market. 6 pound 3/8". We were told it was 8 pound 3/8" which is equivalent to 6 pound 1/2". Then told no seams. They will delivery 15 ft wide rug. They delivered 12 ft wide and made a seam.
Then they overmeasured the square footage by a huge amount because of how they added the separate room sqft by length ignoring that the width was sufficient to cover the additional room needs. Charged us by sqft but when I called to complain, was told I paid for a job not sqft so I did not overpay. Which is a lie. Receipt states price by sqft/sqyd. Texted the salesman about padding and he texted back stating 8 pound was delivered. Called company and was told it was 6 pound. Confronted salesman with company info & he never responded back. Lie after Lie!! Found same exact rug manufacturer and pattern and type at Home Depot. Their price installed with true 1/2" padding and 8 pound quality was $200 less than Empire Floor's price that we paid. No Good. Shop around!!

I had them tile the floor in my kitchen and install carpets in my home. The rep told me that they could just put the new flooring over what was already installed but that wasn't the case. So, I ended up being charged more than what I had budgeted for. Still, their installers were very professional and they did a good job.

I looked around and liked the timely manner that Empire Today could get out here to do the vinyl flooring. It was installed where I wanted to--in my kitchen, laundry area, bathroom, and bedroom. There were just a couple of mistakes done to it. In one area, under my kitchen sink cabinet, they cut it too short, so there's a gap that can be seen. Then in the bathroom, they just floored the vinyl right over the register vent hole and didn't go back to cut it out. I did not call them because it was something my husband said he could do.
I also had to jump through hoops to get the installation done. It was scheduled to be done on a Friday, but the sales rep did not bother to tell me that it would take more than one day to do it. I talked to a supervisor and he told me the installer was informed that it was a two-day job because he wanted to make sure that the installer was going to come back up on Saturday to do it or finish it up. Apparently, at the time, the installer said that it wasn't a problem. The installer came out Friday. My whole house looked like a construction zone because there was a lot of furniture that needed to be moved. Plus, my bed had to be broken down.
The first issue was them not being able to finish it in one day. My husband and I ended up having to sleep on the recliners Friday night. Then, 6:00, Saturday morning, the installer texted me that he didn't feel well and wasn't coming back until Monday. I told him that that was unacceptable. I immediately got on the phone and called every number I could find until I got ahold of somebody. Empire got ahold of the installer and reminded the installer that he agreed to do it on the weekend. The installer finally decided to come back and get the job finished on a Saturday so I could get my house back in order. The one gentleman installer said that he had a hard time finding anybody that would help him, but he eventually showed up with three other gentlemen that were different from the day before.

When the salesman came out, he pitched the carpet to me and ended up leaving the installers 2 square feet of extra carpet. They should give an extra 10 square feet of carpet in case of transitions. We just bought a home and we wanted to take the carpet out. I went to a couple of local places but no one can beat Empire Today's pricing. Theirs was way below any other competitors. We had hardwood floors installed in our living room and the master bedroom. The installers were very good and we're very satisfied with them.

On May 24, 2019, I had an Empire sales representative out to my home to discuss installing flooring. I selected a LVF and told the rep that I wanted to finance the project. At that time, the estimate was just over $10,000. When he contacted the office, he said my financing hadn't gone through and I told him that was bizarre since my credit score was high. (I later found out that my identity had been compromised and while simultaneous residing in Washington, DC I was also watching my Netflix account in Syria and opening credit cards…working on that with my bank now).
The sales rep then asked if I'd qualify for any discounts, and I ran him through my profile and he said he that I qualified for a military/first responders discount and he had the authority to approve finance projects under $7500 if I gave him a 10% a deposit. He said the installers could be out the next day (Saturday). I gave him the $750 deposit.
On May 25th, installers came out. I was in the process of replacing drywall because there had been a small leak in the wall. The carpet was dry and the drywall had been repaired. The installers proceeded to rip up the carpet in the bedroom and take it out of the apartment, leaving it outside on the walkway. When they concluded tearing up the bedroom, they said it might be better to let the drywall repair dry more because there was moisture in the air and it would be better for the flooring to wait a few days. They assured me they could be back later that week to finish as I was having family come into town. There was NO mention of any problems with the financing or any balance that needed to be resolved which is why they began the install.
On Thursday May 30, 2019 a different install team showed up to finish the job. This installer informed me that I owed a balance of $6750. I explained that I had financed the project. The installer told me he couldn't finish the job without the balance being paid. I spoke to Empire and they said that I had never been approved for financing and the sales rep didn't have the authority to approve an amount. They said there had been a “miscommunication.” I asked if the installers were going to haul away the carpet they ripped up and left outside in the rain to rot for the previous 5 days and the answer was no. I was left with no carpet in the bedroom and what was there was now rotting outside in the walkway blocking the path to the backyard and gate.
After speaking with Empire several times, they offered to replace the carpet. I explained that since they didn't install the carpet and couldn't match the rest of the apartment, I wasn't interested in that. I also requested my deposit, which they didn't refund for 3 weeks. After dozens of calls seeking remediation for the damage that was done, I suggested that they pay me for the sq FT of the carpet THEY removed and damaged by leaving it outside. Empire refused.
Now, finally going on 7 weeks, I asked if they were going pay to haul away the rotting carpet and was told no. I finally agreed just to have the carpet replaced because the apartment hasn't really been livable and I had to put up my family in a hotel. Today is was also told that "Empire did me a favor" by removing the carpet and that was my compensation. I was injured serving abroad and have no cartilage in my left knee. I can't haul it away myself. I have spoken to dozens of Empire employees - Devan, Mike, Ms. **, Charles (**). Account ID: **. Angela **
