The Empire consultant, Stephanie ** came to my home and showed me many different styles and colors of carpet and showed me the prices. I picked the one I liked and they came to install it three days later. The installers moved all the furniture and were very professional. They installed the new carpet and it looks great. I am very pleased and would highly recommend Empire to anyone. Gerry

I ordered 2 bedrooms to be carpeted in May 2019. Both rooms had beds that needed to be taken apart & put back together. Empire was to do this as per the salesman that came to my home. Since I am by myself, a recent widow this was very important to me. I was notified by Empire in both June & July telling me my carpet was in, did I want to schedule earlier. I said "no" because I was cleaning both rooms & also going thru my deceased husband's clothes. I needed the time, especially since I am in my mid 70's. On both of these occasions I verified with Empire's customer service about Empire taking down the bed & was assured it was fine.
In August Empire notified me about the installation date. I set up the time & checked again about the disassembling of the 2 beds by Empire. At that time the CS person said he would try to get my salesman on the line. He did & I was assured by the salesman he knew just the right installers to come & they would take & put back up the 2 beds. The installation was scheduled, the installers came and promptly left saying they did not take down beds. To makes a long story short, after 2 days of trying to get this issue resolved, the salesman admitting his error in assuring me they would take care of both beds, the Col Oh office telling me they would refund my deposit within 2 to 4 days back to my charge card.
Then I received the resolution dept asking how could they keep my business. I said since I was told that it was a corporate ruling that Empire would not take down the beds to just send back my deposit like I was told by the Columbus Oh office. I said, "Ok take the $50 from the $500 deposit." He said NO the 10% would be from the whole job amount & I should have read my contract better. The amount was deducted from my deposit & the balance was returned to my charge card. Note: The contract came online, I was unable to open it to print it. I called to have it sent by mail twice between May & July, that never happened. Since last Monday 12, 2019 I have had other estimates both with the beds taken apart & put back together & my new carpet will be installed soon.
I would give Empire carpeting less than a 1 star if possible. The salesman (LD) was not honest and the resolution guy took 10% of the job from my deposit after the women in the Columbus Oh office (LS) said my deposit would be returned with no mention of a 10% reduction from the total job. So the bottom line is the salesman probably got his commission even though he caused the whole issue. Thank goodness I refused to put down a larger deposit.
Be very cautious if you decide to order carpeting from Empire & make sure you get a copy of your invoice if you cannot get in online. I also received an email from another women on Friday August 16, saying she wanted to see what could be done since I canceled my carpet installation. I sent her the above information & let her know I did not cancel the installation, Empire refused to take down the 2 beds and do the job that I contracted to have done. I have not heard back from her. Beware of Empire.

We started out pleased with this experience -- Empire Today did our whole house. We had two guest rooms, so I had called on the special I saw on TV, “get one room and get the other room for $50.” So, I made the appointment and the guy came. He was nice, but he said that the special was over. He saw our situation where one of our dogs, a male dog, pees on the wood that we have in one of the bedrooms. He gave us the price for the two rooms which was going to be $12,000 -- it really increased. He showed us options and he was saying that the wood, which they did, that we have all throughout the house wasn’t part of their sale. It just wasn’t working out.
So then, he was showing us other types of flooring, the pieces that snap together. We agreed to the that because it had the wood grain on it. It was a hot day and we did not even have a central air in the house, but they worked hard. Now, the dog has been peeing and because there are seams in these, it is worse than the wood -- it is buckling. We were upset that we did not get what we originally wanted. It seemed like it was bait-and-switch. My husband was gonna cancel it and he thought for two rooms with that type of flooring, it was a lot. If it was like five grand for one room, then we could do another room for the $50. We were on a budget. It’s a different feeling when you are walking on something that is not wood, which you would never know unless you could experience it. And how could you experience it unless it is done in your house? It feels like it is not as stable as the wood. Overall, I'm not happy with this flooring.

The only reason I don't give 1 star is because the finished product looks good and there are no problems with it, so far. Long story short, this company wants your money but doesn't care about how they treat you. If you need to save money, they have good prices (if you negotiate a little), but be prepared to have a hassle with their reps over the phone. If you can afford the extra cost, go with another company. Keep reading if you want the details...
The salesman came, was very nice and patient. Gave us multiple quotes, no problem. We liked the price, which was much cheaper than other places we shopped beforehand. I saw they didn't have the greatest reviews online, but decided to use them because a trusted friend used them, her floors came out great and she said she had a good experience. She was also referred by a friend who liked their service. The customer service from that point on was horrible. Our carpet was supposed to be installed on a Saturday. They called us at 7pm the night before (after we had already moved all the furniture out of the way) saying the crew was a "no show" and that they had to reschedule. The woman who called was very short with me and didn't apologize once.
During this, I mentioned I found out I was supposed to get a referral discount and the person who referred me was supposed to get a gift card. I told her I told our salesman I was referred and he didn't bother to bring up the fact there are rewards for being referred (This is how you get business, you should be upfront about it!). She said someone from the customer service dept would contact me about it. Fair enough. When that person called, I said I was very unhappy about having to reschedule, since I had a family party the weekend we had to move it to and we had missed work and rearranged the whole weekend for something that didn't happen. They said since I was already getting the referral discount, they couldn't do much else. Excuses! (What if I hadn't been getting the discount?!). Regardless, I let it go.
We had the appt. moved to the following Saturday (also the day before a family party so it was a scramble that should have been avoided. We also moved all the furniture for them to ensure they got it done in a day, otherwise they would have moved it, but would have taken an extra day to complete the work. We didn't get any sort of discount for this, although we should have...). They called to confirm the night before and briefly reviewed what was going to be done (baseboards and carpet). The installers called about 45 mins ahead of arrival the next day. They were very nice and worked quickly. They were there from 8:30am to 4:30pm. They got almost done and, when we mentioned the base boards, they said they were not informed the base boards were supposed to be done and were not given the materials.
At this point, I was completely done with them and just wanted a refund for that part since it would have involved a separate install day. I got a call Monday from the GM saying they would refund the money for the baseboards. I made it a point to tell him their customer service had been very bad, apart from the installers. He said he would mention it to the people involved but he made no apology, didn't say have a good day or anything, just hung up the phone. I talked to probably 5 different people (apart from installers) throughout the whole experience and they all had the same phone etiquette of this GM. Very bad way to treat customers paying thousands of dollars for your product.
Chelsey, we regret to hear that your instillation did not go as planned, and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We'll be further reviewing your concerns.

The wood floors installed by Empire Today in our living room are look pretty and it’s easy to clean. We liked Empire's agent and the price. The installation went very well. They were quick, thorough, and neat. They were very presentable. So was the agent. The agent tried really hard and he got it down to a price we could afford. So, the next time I need flooring, I will call Empire.

I went to Empire first to get laminated floors and new carpeting throughout the living and dining rooms of my home. I was happy with the services that I was getting, so I didn’t need to go any further. The sales rep who assisted me was wonderful and the installers were here on time. They said that they were caught up a little bit in traffic, and they called and let us know about that. They did a wonderful job, too and I have no qualms about it. The carpet men also called and said they would be here. They told me what I had to get ready and everything was ready when they got here. They laid the carpet in in two hours and a half, then they took my furniture, put it out on the patio for me, and brought it back in.
All in all, Empire Today's reps were great and very nice to work with. I would recommend them. They came in and did what they needed to do. Plus, the products have met my expectations. The flooring makes the room look bigger and the color of the wood in the kitchen matches the cabinetry, which brings out the wood in the cabinetry. So overall, it looks very nice and I’m very happy with it. But I need to call them because there’s a little bit of fraying in between the door jambs where they took the carpet up to the old carpet. Still, it has nothing to do with their workmanship. It’s just something that needs a little attention.

Our sales rep came to the house and couldn’t be more friendly. He even played with the cats. Showed us samples and we chose. I told him and made it a point that I wanted good 8+lb padding. After all of the insanely negative reviews I started panicking. There was absolutely no need to panic. After seeing the reviews and what to look for I walked up to look while they literally vacuumed all other stairs in our house (3 sets of 14 stairs each). I inspected the seam, the cuts around the trim, looked at the trim for marks, made sure all walls were as we had left them- freshly painted. And sure enough it was PERFECT. Upon arrival I asked to see the padding lb and the carpet in the truck. All looked like what I ordered. The 3 guys were so nice. I offered them water and other goodies but they nicely declined.
All in all I am SO INCREDIBLY pleased. I would recommend if you are in the Chester County area of PA. We were so pleased he tipped them as well. Don’t let all of the negative reviews deter you. It depends on the contracted company that arrives. We lucked out big time. A 460 sq ft area was completed in just under 2.5 hours with removal of old carpet and padding to the time of the walk through. Love. Love. Love.

Previously had vinyl flooring installed in dining room with no problems. Very satisfied. In April 2015, called Empire Today for cost of laminate flooring installed for 3 rooms plus hallway. Was interested in having Pergo installed. Was told by Manager that I should get Living Estate Bevel flooring since I have 4 dogs & it would not scratch up with this type. I stated it had to be waterproof due to some of my dogs missing the pads. Manager assured this flooring was waterproof. It was installed April 23, 2015. I called company on September 29, 2016, to state the finish in dining room was coming off the flooring in a few areas plus a nail head working way up in one board. I might add the cost of $4,100 was paid off in May 2015.
I was told nothing could be done since the guarantee for water proof was not stated in writing. Called again on September 29, 2017 & explained situation to new manager. He was very nice but could not make any repairs (I would have to pay for) since they no longer carried this flooring. I believe since I was an excellent customer, who paid for 2 loans thru Wells Fargo in record time, should have been treated better by having water proof laminate flooring re-installed in the dining room. Will never deal with Empire Today again & neither will any of my friends or relatives.

I called two weeks ago for an appointment on an estimate which was August 10. I received a couple confirmations on the date and time and then receive a call an hour before the appointment telling me it has been canceled and they would like to reschedule. I rescheduled for today August 17 and have not received a confirmation all week so I call and customer service tells me they do have me down for today but have no one assigned to the appointment. She called but received no answer from that department and left a message for them to call me. I asked her if not having someone assigned to the appointment means that no one will show and she said yes. So disappointed. If you don’t want my business just say so. Don’t waste my time.

Working on resolution since 3/27/19. I ordered a product that I still enjoy in early March. When the installation crew arrived they were upset about my floor being installed on a diagonal. Complained and let their displeasure be known, but they completed the project a day early. They were in a hurry to leave on the last day due to scheduling conflicts with their kids. No big deal. We completed a quick walkthrough and I pointed out that there were some stains on the floor. The installer handed me some Goof Off and said it would come right up. My son and I worked on it for about 5 hours that night, still have about 20 more spots to go. We then noticed some finishing details were not completed. I have had about 5 appointments scheduled/cancelled, etc.
Finally an installer made it out and finished the finishing work that quite honestly looked horrible prior. He admitted that he would not be able to get the stains up, it was going to take too much time, and his body couldn’t handle it. A couple of days later the trim piece cams off my step. I have nails exposed with 2 kids and 3 dogs. I had another appointment scheduled for this morning. Once again no show, no call. I have to take off work for these appointments and my floors aren’t cheap. We have been working on a resolution for 6 months. My house has been disrupted for 6 months. The stress has been consistent for 6 months. Today I will be using Good Off on my floor to continue working on getting the wax pencil off of my floor. At some point I would like my house back in order.

Empire Today did three rooms of carpeting in our home and they put laminate in a kitchen hallway and bath. But we did not have a good experience. As far as we’re concerned, Empire Today is a fraud. Their advertising is buy one room and the rest of the room is $50. I bought carpeting several times before from legitimate merchants. When you buy the carpeting, you’re buying by the square foot and it’s priced per square foot. When we got this from Empire, it’s an 18 page small font contract and you have to be a Philadelphia lawyer and spend a week’s time going through it. There was never a mention of that $50. They put us on another plan really fast. When the carpeting came in, the carpet layers did a nice job. The product is fine, but there’s a 12x14 piece of carpeting left. We paid for all of the carpeting. We bought it by the foot. What are we doing with 12x14 carpet, which we paid for?
On the kitchen hall and bath where we’ve got the laminate, we paid for the removal of the existing flooring. When the layers came, they said, “Oh, no. We don’t have to do that. We can lay right over it.” So, we paid for a full day. For the fellow that laid it, it would take a full day to remove it. We paid for that. They’re giving us $250 credit back. That’s a bunch of BS.
We met somebody down the street that’s renovating their home, and we got talking to them about carpeting. They were gonna call Empire Today, and when we told them about our experience, they went elsewhere. And I’ll talk to anybody that’s carpeting to find a local agent. This is a shyster operation out of Illinois. The people that sell are not part of Empire. The people that installed are all outside brokers to do the work for them. The contract is with Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo is giving them the rebates for the contract price. So, this is really a very bad case of how to do business.
Overall, the product is good. We were told it’s Mohawk. We have no way of knowing that it’s Mohawk or not. We had no idea what it was the square foot. If you buy from the legitimate company, you get a break down. We’ve been waiting for a month and they’re starting to get a little on the nasty side when we’re asking for things like a whole page of the expenses. I’m not dumb. I was a sales rep for a reputable manufacturer for 41 years. I know how to do business. This operation is far from legitimate.
We’ve been cheated. It’s like $3,500 on one, and about the same on the other. So, it appears like they charged me X amount of dollars for the laminate and X amount of dollars for the carpeting. The whole bill is coming under my name. Since it’s on dispute, it’s really hard to say. I talked to a person at Wells Fargo the other day. It comes in at contract amount, $7,500. I gave them $750 deposit on the credit card. They managed to give me $246 back. But I don’t see it all written down. And then there’s the $50 per carpeting in three rooms. It’s 150 bucks plus the people installing it. So, why does it come out to around $3,000?
Now, I’m under a different plan. They never really explained that you’re under a different plan, and now your price will be different. And I came home from work and I was tired, but when you see something advertised, you expect that it’s not gonna be 150 bucks ending up as $2,000. These are not large rooms. When the rep was showing it to me on his iPhone, not only is the print small, but now it’s even smaller. He did not come with a computer screen where I could sit down and see everything. I was totally caught completely off-guard. And then I gotta print out 18 pages. But I could go on my computer and read, and I went back and I reread everything.
I told them they made some damages on my paint on my wood, then the gal said, “Well, if you don’t read the contract, we’re not responsible for that.” And I thought, I just paid for everything to be painted right before the carpeting came. And when I told her, “I already talked to two people. They were calling Empire and I told them to go call somebody else,” she said, “Okay, whatever.” It’s like she didn’t care I would really do that. I’d like to see everything printed out, how much did the carpet people get, how much did the laminate people get for installing carpet, and exactly how much was the carpet. If they changed the plan, let me see how much it is. When I talk to Wells Fargo about this, they said we’ll never get any answers out of Empire.
Howard and Debbie, your concerns are important to us, and we sincerely apologize for your experience. We're looking into your concerns, and will be in touch with you shortly.

I had carpet installed by Empire Today in the big living room, hallway, bedroom, and stairs, and then a little hallway upstairs. I was kinda disappointed with the carpet. I thought it was actually thicker than it was because I didn't want a carpet that thin, but that’s the way it was. And another thing, I would assume it’s because the carpet is not hefty. The tackless that goes around, you’re stepping on the tackless. It’s coming right through the rug.
I was going with Home Depot, and it was a good carpet. I should’ve stayed with it, but it was 5,000. And Empire Today came up with 2,300. I said I want the good padding. And the rep said that with the good padding down, it’ll make a difference. So, I trusted him and went with it. He also had two color samples only, which I thought was very strange. And we wanted a certain color, but we couldn't get it. We either had to pick the one or the other. And that I wasn’t pleased with. But he was very good and polite.

I had two carpet jobs over the last month with Empire Today. I did a Google search and I didn’t get any other quote from anyone else. And the lady I worked with at Empire was really good and kind. She was also very informative and she answered all my questions. I’m a first-time homeowner so I really didn’t know that I was getting myself into and she kinda helped me pick some realistic options, let me know I could get what I wanted without breaking the bank. But it didn’t feel like she was just trying to only show me their most expensive option. She was very thorough and she showed me different price points and how I could get the look I wanted for a price that was satisfactory. Talking to her made me feel like I was in good hands and I wasn’t about to get ripped off. She was honest about what all the options were and I knew then that I didn’t wanna get any other quotes from anybody else.
I had the carpet installed in the bedroom and the den and so far, the flooring is incredible. The carpet in my bedroom is a nicer carpet and really comfortable. It looks nice. Also, the crew who came to set it up did a really good job. I left the tacks down so they didn’t have to put in new tacks, and it was a pretty simple installation. I like the texture of the carpet and it feels really good on bare feet. It seems like it’s gonna last a long time, too. It's sturdy as well and I’m very satisfied with my experience. It was worthwhile and informative, and I got everything I wanted at a price I could afford. I would recommend Empire Today to friends.

I apologize in advance this is going to be long in order for me to give proper details but I think it's important for people to see what we went through so they do not have to exp. the frustration. My husband and I used Empire twice in the 20 years we have owned our home. Each time the experience was great so when it was time to replace the flooring in our bedrooms I decided to call Empire again, seems that was a mistake. Called to get the estimate, it was set up for July 25th from 1-3. By approx 3:30pm no call, no salesperson, so I used the instant chat on their website. They apologized and we set it back up for the next day between 5-7pm. I had been in another city for a meeting and left early to make sure I could be home. At 5:45 the salesman called. I was trying to install the same laminate flooring in 3 of the bedrooms that they had previously installed and prior to the salesman coming they were aware of this.
When he called the salesman asked if I had a box of the laminate left, I said yes and he asked me to read the information from the box so he could have brand and color information. I thought that was odd because I had asked the person who helped me make the appointment to make sure he already had that information and whether or not we could get that flooring. Let me also add that the flooring we have is still advertised on their website as IN Stock. On the phone the salesman I think his name is Matthew told me that he did not believe they had that flooring nor could he get it. When I told him it was still on the website he told me that he didn't know how often the website was updated and that I might want to call another company to see if they could help me. I should have listened to him!
He told me he would see if he could locate the flooring and would call me Sat or Monday and that there was no point in him coming out until he knew that information. I never received that call. Wanting to give Empire the benefit of the doubt I called them back. They apologized, offered another appointment and to credit me $50.00 should I purchase flooring. I asked that I not be given the same salesperson as twice he had not come through. We were given another appointment, this time I chose between 5-7 so I would be done with work. I received a call from the Salesman that he was running late, I believe he arrived at 7:30 pm. From the get go he did not seem to know that I wanted to install the same laminate, that we already had in 3 of the bedrooms with carpet only going in the 4th bedroom.
He told me he did not know if they could get the laminate and his reasoning for it being on the website was that perhaps it was there so they could do warranty work. If that is the case why would it be publicly advertised? He measured the rooms and said that he would show me options for the rooms with laminate in case they could not get the one we have and I could pick carpet. He brought in one flooring option which was a vinyl plank on the higher end. He said he felt it was the only thing he had that would be close in color to our flooring, that nothing else they had would be close to a match. When he told me the price I almost fell out! Close to $5000.00 for 3 bedrooms and these are not large rooms. The 2 smaller rooms are about 100 sq feet and the larger room is about 120 sq ft.
When I explained that I had paid that for the entire living room, dining and kitchen to be done which is much more square footage he said that the vinyl flooring is better quality and had better warranties and that discounts were available. I did receive a discount however 3 bedrooms still ended up costing me $4200.00 Now the salesman told me he would call me the next day and let me know if he could get the matching laminate, and if they did have it a simple change order could be placed, the cost would be adjusted and we could move forward. Yep you guessed it, he never called. At this point it is my opinion that no one really even looked into getting the laminate that would match as the vinyl was a more expensive product.
Now on to installation. An appointment was made for the install to happen on a Tuesday and the carpet on a Thursday (we will get into the carpet in a bit). I was told mid week installs are cheaper because they are not as popular and that was part of my discount. I was also told install would take 1 day. Since my husband has a back injury and cannot lift I paid some friends to remove the furniture. The day of installation the installer called and did show up on time. It was 2 gentleman. I am not sure why the older gentleman was here as he didn't do any of the install so the one gentleman was working alone. He was courteous however the install ended up taking 2 days which was an issue because we run our business out of our home so we were trying to work remotely and did not have access to everything we need to do our job.
We had planned on making it work for one day but two put us behind because I had to change the plans to get people to come help reinstall our office furniture and get everything set back up. Let me say that the gentleman was kind and it appears he did a good job (time will tell how the floor holds up on the install end) but this man smelled so bad like body odor. It was 80+ degrees and he was working hard but dang the smell permeated the rooms and ended up making the area where we were working smell to the point where one of my office staff asked to work outdoors. He also got in what seemed like a 30 minute rather loud argument in another language. Listening to some argue was a bit uncomfortable for myself and my staff. The floor is installed. It looks good and we finally were able to get everything moved back in, defiantly not the smooth process we had in the past with Empire.
Now on to the carpet! The salesman showed me samples. I went with a mid/upper end carpet with pet protection as well as a high end pad that had pet and spill protection built in. A bit on the expensive side but it was higher end, had the pet protection so we decided to move forward on that as well. The appointment was made for Thursday and I was told that an installer would call in the morning to give us a time frame and that the install would take a couple of hours. Thursday morning we got up early, had the people we hired come move the furniture out of our bedroom and because our bed is an adjustable bed and a king size we ended up having to put it out our french doors and on to our deck. 10 am and I had not heard from anyone.
I called Empire, I was told my appointment had been rescheduled, weird since I had not heard from anyone. When I told the lady, "No, I had not. No one had told me about that" she asked me for my phone number and address. She then asked if a phone number sounded familiar. When I told her that number did not belong to anyone in my family she put me on hold. When she came back she said she had called the number and that it belonged to someone else who had been rescheduled and she thought what happened was that someone had put another customer's notes on our account but our install would happen that day and we were now priority and the installer would be calling me.
An hour goes by, no call, I call back. I now get a gentleman who tells me that there is no mistake I have been rescheduled. When I said no and explained the situation he put me on hold, came back and said, "Nope. I confirmed you have been rescheduled." I explained again the error that the 1st lady had told me happened and that I had not heard from anyone regarding a reschedule. He offered for me to speak with a supervisor. Upon speaking to the supervisor I was told there was no way I was getting the install done today as the installer was sick and they had no one else. She said it could be done tomorrow and offered a $100.00 discount. I explained that I had paid people to move my furniture that my bed was outside and I was going to have to try and get them to come back put at least my bed back in and then pay them to remove it again the next morning and that was if they were even going to be available to do so.
Basically nothing she could do. I was frustrated, there seems to be no concern for the customer. I ended up contacting another flooring company and asking if they would be able to do a same day install. I explained that the furniture was out and it was only one bedroom. I got lucky and got a upper end carpet pet protection, the whole bit, and the higher end pad as well, installed the same day and it ended up being a bit less expensive as well! When I called to cancel Empire the lady just kept trying to reschedule the Install and when I finally got through that I would not be using them she offered a $500.00 discount. She seemed surprised when I still said no.
Please learn from my experience. It seems that this is not the Empire carpets of past years and changes have happened in this company that have impacted service. I do hope they will get things back together and become a quality company with good service again some day.
1. If you call Empire and have a salesperson come to your home get the Estimate do not agree to use them right then. They will try and offer discounts and such to get you to agree depending on the sales person. They may pressure you with talk of sales ending etc. Get at least one but if you can two more estimates this will let you see if you are getting the best price for the type of flooring you want. After the fact I discovered that I overpaid for my flooring a bit and that the install indeed should have taken 1 day.
2. Check reviews. Had I checked recent reviews in regards to Empire instead of going of my previous experience a few years ago I would have seen the current issues that are happening right now as I am not the only person that has had the above exp. If they get things worked out I am sure the reviews will change to reflect people having a better exp.
At the end of it all I finally have completed floors. It was frustrating and extremely stressful and I ended up paying people to move our furniture more than I expected I would have to. I ended up with a home in disarray longer than expected (for someone with OCD not a fun exp). I am hoping that with the price I paid for my vinyl it will hold up to the warranty the salesman promised me and that if I do need warranty work that it will go much smoother than all of this did. This is my experience. I hope I don't have to replace flooring for many years to come but if I do I just don't think I would choose Empire or refer them to friends or colleagues as this was just to stressful.
Connie, thank you for making us aware of your experience. We apologize for the miscommunication that you received and will be in touch with you soon.

I was online chatting with somebody from Empire Today trying to set up an appointment for the weekend, this was on a Friday. They said they were all booked up and couldn’t do it until the following week, and I said that it was fine and that we would go look elsewhere, and that if we could not find what we wanted, we would call or online chat them back. Then, the next morning, at 8:30, as we were about ready to head out to go look elsewhere, somebody from Empire showed up at the front door and said that they had an appointment. So, that was funny.
The person who came was very good and helpful. He also showed us everything. We're a little nervous about the vinyl planking, because the salesman had told that, “It’s super hard and this is gonna happen to it,” but then as we were trying to research how to clean it properly according to the manufacturer's website it seems like it’s a little bit more susceptible to scratching than the salesman had led on. Although, I haven’t seen anything scratch it yet. So maybe they just have to put everything on the website. But we love the carpet. It’s very plush and really looks nice compared to what was in the house that the prior folks had put in. We really liked it.

After several weeks due to my schedule I arranged a date to get the correct padding installed because the salesman that came out to the house screwed up the you order, I took a vacation day off work. I was told someone would be at my house between 9 and 12 so I called at 12:30 when no-one had showed up. I was then told someone would be in my house between 2 and 4. When someone failed to show up between those hours I received the call at 4:30 telling me that someone would be at my house at 8 at night if that was okay. I have five grandkids that live with me. Coming at 8 is not acceptable.
On top of having to burn a vacation day I was also told I had to pay $132 because they wrote up the wrong padding... I have left several messages for Rosa at Empire's customer service with no call back yet. This is one of the biggest jokes I have dealt with and should have just gone with a local company and paid a little extra... As I post this I am still waiting for Empire to contact me with a time when they can come out to fit the schedule in my house. My advice go with a local company in your town.

Was having carpet and flooring installed in my home last Monday 8/5. The gentleman that came to install the flooring was great, no issues or problems. Done in 3 hours. Finally the carpet installers arrived after 12pm to install the carpet with no phone call. After the 2 gentlemen were done doing the measurements they find out that they are 10 feet short. They tell me there is nothing that they can do except come back at a later date. I call the customer service line. Explain to them the situation. They do NOTHING. The installers install what they could and left the stairs for a later date. We set up another appointment for that following Saturday 8/10 telling customer service that they need to be at my house at 9am because we had plan for that day.
Needless to say those plans were canceled because the installers showed up at 2:30pm. Called customer service again and asked to speak to a manager. No one is available. Finally on Monday a manager calls me back and offers me $50 for my troubles. To me that is insulting after having to miss a day with my family. She then offers me $100 and pretty much says take it or leave it. The customer service with this company is garbage. As a matter of fact there is no customer service. Find someone local to do your flooring or carpet. Might have to spend a little more but you would not have to deal with the garbage they call customer service.

First, I'd like to begin by telling you that the crews who came out to do the work, were all excellent and did an amazing job. I couldn't be happier with the work they performed, and the condition they left my condo in upon completion. I am having a big problem with the additional charge of $630.00 (was $730.00 originally) being leveraged against me for leveling my concrete sub-floor before the laminate could be installed. Upon hearing that I was going to be charged this fee, I called the original estimator who went to my condo and confirmed what the install crew was stating and that the install couldn't continue without this work being done.
At this time I asked for the install to be canceled and wanted my original carpeting put back in. I was told that this was no longer an option as my carpeting had already been cut into small strips and was loaded into the van. I then asked what choice do I have, but to accept this fee? This was a question that still hasn't been answered. I believe my exact words in response were, "you have painted me into a corner and are now asking me to pay to get out of it."
This in my opinion is not a very ethical way of doing business. I'd be astonished to hear that my condo is the first place you guys have installed laminate flooring in, with a concrete sub-floor that turns out to be uneven. Costs of leveling the floor should be included in your quotes, and not a surprise add-on during the install. You guys are the ones who cut my carpeting into strips and made it impossible for it to be re-installed. Why would this have been done before talking with me? So, again please tell me what choice was I given but to tell you to proceed? What would you guys have done had, I said not to proceed? Would I have been left with an exposed concrete subfloor in my living room? Is that an acceptable way to leave a customer's home in?
Let's say, you took your car to a mechanic for a brake job which you are given an estimate for. During the repair, they discover that you need new tires and they call you to inform you about it. At this point you tell them not to perform the work at all, to which they reply that they have already destroyed your tires and they can no longer be used. Honestly, how would you feel? Would you think this is a fair practice on their end? Beware!!!!

We were signed and put a deposit down, suppose to start in a couple days. Received a call yesterday and said they can't do the stairs with the vinyl plank but if we paid more (1000.00 for 7 steps) it could get done or just put carpet on them which is not what we want. So now our deposit has been accepted and we can't get it back for up to two weeks. Missed out on another bid price from different company and now am paying more and out 3 weeks to get our floors done. Very unprofessional I far as I'm concerned.

I checked Home Depot and all over, and I didn’t like any of the carpets but I liked the one that Empire Today has and the color was perfect. The sales rep was new and he was learning so that was fine. He was very patient and I was too. I almost got the wrong carpet but that was understandable and we got it straightened out and I got the right carpet.
The fellows that installed it were very nice, pleasant and I had no problem there but they put the seam right smack down the middle of the living room. It's a really big living room and that seam sticks up like a sore thumb. Every time I walk over it, it bothers me. It should have been put down by a sidewall, like under where a couch would go. I'm giving it a couple of weeks to see if I can walk on it to get it to flatten down. It's been almost three weeks now and it sticks up and it's right there and I hate it. I was just about to call somebody to do something about it. The living room needs to be redone. It looks terrible but the rest of the carpet is wonderful. The house is 1,600 square feet and they did the whole house. It was a big job and they really did a good job, except for that seam.

So we had a rep come out the other day. Found a nice flooring within our price range. All is going well. The rep say a few issues with our floor as we had particle board so we agreed with the rep that they would have someone come out to repair with new plywood. Cost give or take $800. Still everything is going well. This is when it all went South fast. My son and I moved most of the furniture the night before everything was supposed to take place. Well my wife and I both take the day off to be here when they repair the floorboard and install new flooring. Well guy gets here with flooring and says, "We can't do it." I was like, "I thought you were here to repair our floorboard as this is what our sales rep told and agreed upon first." He said, "No. We only install flooring." So he calls his boss. There was never a request to repair our floorboard at all.
So the guy said he can call his boss again and see if someone can come over the same day as I was promised to fix the floorboard but couldn't guarantee if it would be the $800 I was quoted. I was like that is fine. At this point my house is a mess from all the furniture moving and them pulling up my carpet to look at it so I'm stuck over a Barrel. So the installer said wait about 30 min and the person should call me about the floorboard repair. No call came in. So I called the salesman who came out and they said we had asbestos!! We were floored. I'm like where did this come from all off a sudden. Then they said, "We can do it but this will have to be done first and checked out." I was like this is not right at all. Then they said, "We can sell you some carpet. No problem." At that point I was beyond furious. I cancelled everything. If you deal with this company beware of a lot of bait and switch.

There was a second room that we needed to have a transition installed between carpet and tile and after making a phone call the salesman said they could do the second transition. This was included in the contract. The day of installation, the installers said they could not do the second transition because "they were not the carpet guys" and told me to work with Empire to get the right people out there. Two tickets/work requests later I get a phone call from a RUDE service rep who told me they would not do the second transition and it didn't matter that it was in the contract and she was "sorry that it wasn't what I wanted to hear." We already had hardwood flooring installed about eight years ago in our living room so we wanted something that was similar to that. We got the Brazilian Koa and it has a lot of character to it, and we found something that was a perfect match. The boards were a little thinner, which is what we wanted, and it looks great. We have a free-standing fireplace when we built the house. It’s on a slate but it looks almost like an upside-down sombrero so it’s very unusual and that was the problem when we went with any other places, like how they would fit around the base of the fireplace.
I liked the way that Empire could get the thing done quicker. The other places were smaller companies and it was gonna take them a week, 10 days. My husband couldn’t work around that. He’s in a power wheelchair and very handicapped. Empire was absolutely fantastic, from the guy that came in and quoted it for us. Their prices were fair. Then the installer was amazing. He and his helper were excellent, pleasant and hardworking. Once they started, they never stopped. I was dreading the installation and my husband sat there. They were patient with him and explained to him what they were doing. They moved back the large furniture then they got us all set up, took everything away and they cleaned everything up.
They would’ve finished on that Monday, except whoever estimated it shorted one box, and they already had an installation scheduled on Tuesday. The guy came back on Wednesday and finished it up and did all the molding. He was incredible. He made nothing out of the flooring. It looks perfect. We have people come in and they are blown away at how good it looks. I have already recommended Empire to several people.

Our sales rep was excellent as is the carpet we purchased. However, the installation process was a complete and total nightmare and I cannot give anyone a positive recommendation to use Empire Today. First off, we purchased our carpet with the sales rep on 7/13/2019 with a scheduled install date of 7/17/2019. When the installers arrived they found asbestos in 2 of the rooms and told us they did not have the special adhesive to install in the other room that had ceramic tile and had to put the entire project on hold. We could understand needing to put the install of the carpet on hold until the asbestos was removed, but they should’ve been carrying proper install tools and equipment on their truck.
The installers left and we found someone to test and remove the asbestos. This was completed on 8/9/2019 and our carpet install was scheduled to be completed on 8/10/2019. Upon arrival, the installers arrived yet again without the proper adhesive for the living room and with not enough carpet to complete the entire job. Meaning they will need to come back a third time.
I’ve called into the 800 number several times for assistance and I have not been able to get anywhere. Just promises that the adhesive was noted to be on the truck and that we need to wait until Monday 8/12/2019 to speak with an installation manager. No one even had consideration of the fact that we’ve been in a hotel for the last 2 nights due to this, had to rent a U-Box to store everything during the asbestos removal and carpet install, and your installers wouldn’t help put furniture back even though we paid for the furniture moving service with the installation of the carpet. No one has even given us an apology or any sort of help. Needless to say, this has been an awful experience that I’m looking forward to being done with. For the amount of money we paid, I would’ve expected more from Empire Today and to have at least received some sort of apology for the lack of customer care and support given.

We have recently moved into a new office and warehouse space. We have had a bunch of renovations done to that office space, so when those were done we had Empire come in and install new carpet for us. The installation seemed to go ok. However, about a month in we began having HORRIBLE fraying around the seam in the middle of the room. I figured we could just call and have the carpet looked at and eventually fixed due to it being under both manufacturer's warranty as well as the installation warranty.
I have now called on 6 separate occasions and simply gotten reference numbers. Each time I was told that I would be contacted by someone to set up an appointment to have it looked at. And every time I called back, it was in the notes that someone had reached out to us and we did not answer. That is an actual lie. They have not only the business phone, but my work cell phone, my personal cell phone, and my Operation Managers call phone numbers. We have had no missed calls or voicemails.
Finally I did receive a call from Mandy ** who I was told is an Installation Manager. An appointment was set up for 8-9-19 but no time was given to me as to when the actual arrival of the technician would be. I informed them that our office closes at 4pm and I needed to know if I had to stay late. I was told it should be before them. At the time of writing this it is now 3:56pm and still nothing. This is very frustrating that there is such a lack of caring from the customer service aspect. I am in an Installation business and if one of my installers or our customer service employees treated a customer like this I would be sick to my stomach. Recently, I contacted Empire again in Levittown, Pennsylvania where I have asbestos tiles in a house that I'm gonna sell. I scheduled the appointments to have carpet and hardwood floors done. All houses in Levittown have 9 x 9 asbestos square tiles put on the floors when they are built. Over the years, some people have replaced them, some people have carpeted over them, but every home in Levittown had the asbestos done in it.
The gal who was the salesperson called to tell me she was gonna be a little late, 9:30 as opposed to 9:00, which was nice. When she walked through the door, she asked if I have the original asbestos tiles on the floor. My answer was yes. She then closed the book and said she can't help me. They couldn’t do anything for me unless I tore up the carpet and I remove the asbestos tiles. She had to call in the main office and I had to affirm that she showed up for the appointment and say that she couldn’t help me because of the situation. I understand that they want to make sure that their salespeople keep their appointments, but corporate talked to me and didn't trust the lady who was representing them. My son had a very good luck with his flooring from Empire Today, and it was really nice. So I also got laminates, the LVT, and carpet from them. The purchasing part was very easy. When it came to the installation, the first guy was amazing. But the second group that did the LVT sucked completely. They had to send two more groups of people out after that to correct the error. And the carpet was fine. But nobody cleans up after themselves and that really sucks, except for the first guy. The other ones left nails, and staples, and paper laying all over, and sawdust. And they used my towel with the toilet on. This group of people was disappointing. They put cord around in places. It looked like I had a dog turd against the wall. It was terrible.
The installation manager, Evan, is terrible. He doesn’t return phone calls. He considers everything done when the order is done. He hasn’t called me back to tell me how much he’s gonna pay because they broke the tile in my bathroom. They haven’t sent out the $50 referral fee or Amazon gift card for referring me to my son. None of those things have occurred, and it has been two weeks. But the products have good quality, and I love my flooring.

When we were deciding who to purchase carpets from, timing became a big factor. Empire Today was able to get the carpets in right away while the other sources couldn't. Also, for the price point, their carpeting seemed to be a little better quality. We had Empire install carpets on our stairs and the second floor. My wife picked the color and we love it. We're trying to sell our home and since the carpet is new, it looks good. We've only had it for four weeks but it seems to be pretty durable. Also, the installation crew was exceptional. They didn't damage anything and they seem like a well-oiled machine. They did an excellent job for us.

I would not recommend them to anyone. First of the year they installed flooring for us. 2 months later floors started coming up. They came out and ripped my daughters floors up and said, "Oh you have a moisture issue. We don't warranty that." I had their advisor say ID I took care of the moisture. They would fix it. They would fix floors. I paid 6500 to AquaGuard to fix the moisture and they said Empire should have detected that before laying the doors. Now AquaGuard does not return my calls and stick to agreement. Customer service sucks. You can never get anyone to call you. Go with someone else.

We have used Empire several times. We had our kitchen and bathroom done with vinyl flooring. They did a wonderful job. I would recommend the vinyl side. The carpet side was terrible. Installers were 2 hours late and had to call to see when they would arrive. The installation was not good as well. They cut the carpet short around our mantle and had a big gap. The customer service was good. We called and got immediate action and the carpet was fixed within a few days.

The installation was fine but getting there was hard. We ordered the flooring and scheduled the appointment. In the morning thereof, they called and said they had the wrong color. I made our front formal dining room into an office, and I needed carpeting. I originally went with Empire Today because of the commercial that said $50 for the other room, but then I found out that they still had the installation. So, I ended up just doing the one room. And then, I had samples from another place, but that particular carpet that the Empire sales rep finally showed me was more of the color I wanted. It was kind of a beige with a little touch of gray in it. The installers were wonderful. They were very friendly and very professional. They did what they needed to do and then they were gone. Empire Today did a great job. It was nice having the person right there that could show you samples in your home. Overall, it was a good experience.

Acknowledge they request all decision makers to be present when salesperson comes "free estimate"; however, we told them upfront that would not be possible. Our experience with Empire Carpet: 1. Salesperson was late even with 2 hour window (1100 - 1300). 2. Asked for three different options (all carpet replacement, partial wood, and carpet with wood floors in 3 bathrooms) with medium grade carpet and padding but got only verbal estimates for premium carpet and padding price and wood floor in bathrooms. 3. Got very aggressive stating we had to make decision to replace right there and then to get 30% discount rather than keeping the company's promise of "price good for 30-days". 4. When told we had to think about it, he got mad stating not all decision makers were not together and walked out without giving us a written estimate.
Our take on the situation - He was rude, represented the company in a very bad light, pressure sales tactics when in fact $9,000 is not a chump change. Must think about the household finances now we know how much it would cost to replace the carpet (approximately 2,000 sq). We called the company to file a complaint, the person was very nice and sounded like he was taking our complaint. However, no one called us back within 24 hours as the customer service person stated!! I see the company's ad all the time on TV and thought I give them a try... Man, what a waste of my time and energy. So disappointed!!!

I left work early to meet the installers. They wanted $500 more than the agreed upon price. I called customer service in TX and was put on hold for over 10 minutes before I was told that the man I had been working with was on the phone, but this person would send them an email and they would call me back. 20 minutes later, installers waiting and threatening to leave, I called back the main customer service number in tears as I had woken up at 3:30am to disassemble my bed and my house was a disaster to accommodate the installation. They finally figured it out. There was an added difficulty of a language barrier as the installers spoke little English and I speak no Spanish. They began installing (about an hour after they arrived) and then left for a 1.5 hour lunch. They had one small room left to do and I was assured the carpet would be there and the installers were set to come out the following day.
I called the following morning to confirm before I left work early again. I got home just to receive a call from an extremely rude install manager telling me they wouldn’t be making it out that day. They would be there between 2 and 6 the next day. Meanwhile, I can barely navigate my bedroom with all of the furniture being kept in there. The following day at 5:30 I receive a call saying that 2-6pm was now going to be 8:30pm. At 8:45pm I called customer service again and they told me that the new ETA was 9:30pm. They showed up at 10pm and left at 11:57pm. I work early mornings and the stress of having my house torn apart for days as well as taking unnecessary time off was very upsetting and no one seems to be lifting a finger to help me get a discount. I would pay the extra money for a decent installation any day over Empire! Not worth it! Terrible customer service and they do not follow through with the contracted agreements.

It was like pulling teeth. Many cell phones and even Service 800#s routinely had full voicemails so you can't even leave a message.
Installers were then supposed to come on a Friday. Was aware that they could come anytime between 8 am - 6 pm. After several attempts to reach them that day to see when they would be arriving, finally connected with them @ 3:30 that Friday. They said they would be there between 4:30 and 5 pm and said the job would only take 2 hours. Found it hard to believe that installing carpet for 3 BR, basement stairs, and basement that ran the length of our house would only be a 2 hour project. Asked them to reschedule that as I was not going to wait around until at least 7pm on a Friday.
So when they finally did install it the following Tuesday it took 4 and 1/2 hours. Am glad I did not wait for that on a Friday evening. I had already took a vacation day on Friday and wasted the entire day. Could never reach anyone in authority to address the ongoing issues we encountered. I would not recommend Empire to anyone.

It was a much better carpet for the same price as the quote I got from another company. The interaction with the sales team was excellent. The rep listened to us, looked at our needs and showed us exactly the products that would fit within those needs. We were trying to match carpet we already had in the house, knowing that it wouldn't match perfectly, but as close as possibly, and looked at the carpet we had. He brought out three samples and it was a matter of choosing the one that came closest, and it came very close.
The guys who installed the carpet were incredibly wonderful. They were professional, on time, efficient, clean and didn't damage anything. Empire Today installed a hardwood laminate in the hallway and the den. I went to about 10 different places that did flooring before I made the decision and they were cheaper than Empire. I went with them because they seem to be trustworthy on commercials and I figured they will stand behind their product. I like the flooring. The installation went fairly well but they didn't clean up. They had to mix some concrete to do some laminate on the floor so they poured the dry concrete mix in my grass. I didn't know it until my sprinkler system came on. Also, they left those razor blades that they used in the machine to cut the flooring at a different angle.
They put down some laminate and part of it was defective. It started coming up within two days. I called and told them, and they said somebody was gonna call me back in 72 hours. Nobody called me back in three days so I waited on the fourth day and I called. The lady said she was gonna escalate it and somebody was gonna call me back in 4 days. I said I needed to talk to a supervisor. So I talked to the supervisor and she said she's the only person who's coming to Memphis area. I told her that was not a good answer for me. She said she could have somebody out there in seven days but she couldn't give me a time. She said she didn't know what time they were gonna come, but they would come in seven days. I said, "You want me to take off the whole day?" She said that was the best she could do.
They came out on the seventh day and the guy looked at it. I was trying to show him and he took some putty and tried to glue the piece down. I said, "Man, that ain't gonna work. I paid you money. I ain't taking from them no glue. And you all gonna take this back up. Otherwise, Imma stop payment, and y'all gonna get no money." So he took the floor part back up, took out the bad piece and redid it. They couldn't speak English. I understand Empire Today has people that don't speak good English, and I ain't got any problem with that 'cause the work that they did was good. It wasn't the worker. The salesman was excellent and the only reason that I am even giving them one star. After the first day of installation, which I was guaranteed would be a 1 day job, I was informed they didn't have enough carpet to complete the job. On top of that, they left a mess on my stairs, including loose nails...
They then rescheduled to come finish the following week, so my wife had to take off work for them to come finish. We find out 3 hours after their scheduled arrival time that they couldn't come finish the job because of a lack of available installers.... They rescheduled AGAIN to the following week, and today they gave us a window of 10-2pm in which they would arrive (which is already a bit ridiculous in my opinion) and they never showed up. To make all of this worse I've left at least 5 voicemails with their customer service over the past two weeks and literally have not gotten a response. How on earth is there never anyone to answer your customer service line??? This has been a horrible experience and I still haven't heard a word from Empire on how they're going to compensate.

I had carpet installed at home, which I did through Empire. They had a good price and we had gone with them before when we first moved in the house years ago, so we just went back with them again. However, the salesperson who first came out told me that their installers can do this certain thing, but when the people came out, they said, "You know, she's just the salesperson. She really doesn't know what goes on with the actual installation." But the installers were great. They ended up doing over and above what they anticipated, for which I paid them out of my pocket because what they did was difficult.
I was told that they would just move my Sleep Number bed from one side of the room to the other and lay the carpet down. But then, they had to dismantle the entire bed and ended up breaking part of it, which I didn't notice until after they had left. It was not their fault, as they were not expecting to have to do that, and to me, it's just the cost of life. So then, I called the Sleep Number people and they sent someone out here for $200, which even adding that to the amount of the carpet still didn't come to the price of other carpet estimates that I had gotten. So, I'm still ahead of the game.
Another thing that I didn't notice until after they had left and I really had a chance to walk on the carpet is that, in some places, the carpet pad makes noise when I walk over it. So I'm wondering about that, thinking if they put the pieces down correctly. Nevertheless, I don't expect perfection in this world - it doesn't do anything and the carpet doesn't bunch up or look bad. I would still recommend Empire.

I had considered purchasing from another company but stayed with Empire Today. They had put in my flooring, which I liked, and I thought to see what they had. They had good marketing too, which drew me to see how much it would cost me if I used them versus somebody else. I had new carpeting put in throughout my house. I liked the color of the flooring. It's tan and doesn't show dirt. I have wood flooring and I was trying to match up something that went with it and the flooring does.
The reps were wonderful guys. They were sufficient and did what they needed to do. There was no debate. I could ask them questions and they'd explain it. And if they didn't, we'd call their supervisor and find out if it could be or couldn't be. And if it could be, they went and did it. They moved the furniture around because I couldn't. I took all the knick-knacks and everything out. Then, they went to work and moved. I have a patio home, so it's difficult to move around things, but they had a system down to moving everything into one room and carpeting that room then, moving everything back. It worked well and smoothly. And by the end of the day, they were done.
My experience with Empire Today has gotten better and better. The first time, I had problems. Part of it was that I was naive to the structure of it and I really had some issues. But then, it got straightened out, and from there on, I had no problems. I liked this latest group that came. I like them all, but each time someone comes and does some work for me, it seems like I get a better group than the group before. The latest group that came out was so concerned and pleasing. They made sure that we were pleased with what was done. It was an older guy and a younger guy. I was pleased with what they did.

Empire Today may warranty their products but installation warranty is one year only. Read the fine print also, they have a deny/deny/deny mentality with any claims and are glad to find a reason not to honor warranty. Read the fine print. Must shampoo carpeting every 16 months or warranty void. Must use their crew to stretch carpeting or warranty void. They demand you throw more money their way before they fix any problems! I spent a lot of money in putting in new floors in my entire house. Three years after install I have problems in every single room of my house. After inquiring about an estimate on flooring, the rep came out promptly. He said I would be able to take a picture of the contract on his iPad, but conveniently diverted my attention. He told me there were several discounts that I could take advantage of, called WF for financing and got an approval. He asked me to initial in particular areas & supposedly told me what I was signing for & told me I could save by paying the balance off within the 12-24 months, I inquired about window blinds, he gave me my balance & suggested that I contact Empire when ready to purchase the blinds. When I tried to contact him the next day for a detailed itemized copy of my contract, & every day after, not only did he not answer his phone, he didn’t return any of my messages.
I received the bill and with every payment I’ve been charged a $60.00 finance fee! The rep told me it was interest free for either 12 or 24 months. Why on earth would I as a senior & retired person want to pay a $60.00 finance fee from my payment? I called Empire & a rep to come out regarding the window blinds, 7000.00 for faux wood blinds, then knocked it down to 3500 when I immediately said no to the 7000.00. Empire asks me why I didn’t purchase the flooring through an email that directs me to this survey. I did purchase the flooring, I didn't purchase the blinds. The installers were prompt & timely, however, there are dips in the flooring in two rooms both by the entrances, it feels as though additional padding is needed. I’m waiting on someone from Empire to make this right!

We had the carpeting installed 3 years ago. We had purchased a higher grade carpeting and floor padding. Initially it looked nice. There are two adults and 2 small dogs in the household. When we had our carpet cleaner, who we have used for years, come over to clean them he told us the carpet wasn't wearing well and advised that we should contact the company. I contacted the company and was told I needed to pay a $75.00 inspection fee. I paid the fee and the inspector came out and took pictures. He agreed with the carpet cleaner. I thought, Great! I asked him about next steps. He advised he would submit the report and someone would get back to us within two weeks and that the company was timely with resolutions. That didn't happen so I called the company and asked for a status report. I was told to send a copy of the receipt that I had the carpets cleaned to be able to prove I was still under the 25 year warranty. I did as I was asked.
Two weeks went by and nothing. I emailed them and asked for an update. No response after two weeks. I called and left a message. I received a phone call and was asked how often I vacuumed. I advised weekly. I was told the case would be reviewed and a response for resolution would be given. Again no response. I emailed and called several times. The last voicemail I left was terse. I received a call and was advised that I needed to send a picture of my vacuum cleaner and pictures of the carpet that were not wearing well and where it was rippling. Of course I did.
By this time it really was no surprise that there was no response. The carpet was only 2 years old. My husband said give it up. I did as he suggested because of the frustration and aggravation. Why am I complaining now. The rippling in the carpeting is worse and now a couple of inches high. I tripped on one today and almost took a header. I am 67 years old and not as nimble as I used to be. Obviously by now I am really upset and thought it would be a good idea to share with the hope this doesn't happen to someone else because they were made aware of my situation.

Updated on 08/01/2019: Talked to salesman, explained no one showed up to install flooring when scheduled. Said he'd have his manager call us. After flooring installed 3 days later no calls from salesman or manager. Not good.
Original Review: Initially, the customer service and the product itself from our first job that we really love made us choose Empire Today. Everybody who comes in the house loves it and we know that at least one person is self-installing the exact same floor that we have. Empire did an amazing job and we love it. They put in vinyl plank laminate flooring for us and they did a fantastic job. This is our second job with them. Art, the salesman from Empire Today, was a nice guy and he told us that they would be here Friday, and today is Friday.
Some lady called this morning and told us that they have been trying to call us, which we know was not true. We have those CapTel phones that writes up a transcript for everything we’re saying. Whether they leave a message or not, we have a phone number, who the company is or who the person is. So, we looked back on that, no one ever called us, even though that woman said they were gonna call us every day. So, she lied to us on top of everything else. I said in a nice way that we’ve been here and she asked when we wanted to set up our appointment. I told her they were supposed to be here today. She said that there was no appointment set, they didn’t have our material in stock and they couldn’t be here until Monday. I told her that wasn’t right. We already moved things around for the day, and now, we gotta move things around for Monday. By not showing up, it takes away from the first job that we were so happy with.
We were gonna have a master bath, a regular bath and then, the laundry room installed with flooring. When asked when they thought they were going to come, the rep said that every time they set up an appointment, they set it up that the window is from 8 o’clock in the morning ’til 6 o’clock in the evening. They said they could not narrow us down. It was their window and so, if their appointment was on Friday, they have to be there between 8:00 and 6:00. He was told that we would make sure that we would be here between 8:00 and 6:00. We never heard another phone call from anybody about anything until this morning when the woman called.
We already paid half and Empire cannot do this to us. We’re talking about almost $1,100. Art was kind enough to come out to our house, and we sat down and we did the contract. He knew exactly what we wanted and now, we’re sitting here waiting for the salesman to call us back because he didn’t answer his phone. Hopefully, we can work it out. If not, then we have to try to move things to Thursday or Friday of next week. Also, if they didn’t have the vinyl, they should have known that. Home Depot has the vinyl that we purchased for this job. So, if Empire doesn’t have it, they should go and find it someplace else. They were talking about customer service here and they already got half their money. They should not call us the day of installation and say that they’re not coming.

We had worked with Empire Today about five years ago. We bought some of their carpeting. This time, we got wood floor paneling. Their rep was great. He’s very informative and very knowledgeable. The installer was very friendly, cooperative, and did a great job. We had a lot of things to move, so he had to do two visits. Our new floor paneling makes the basement look completely different. It's like a new room in the house.

I would never recommend this company. Sales rep made empty promises including that job would take 1 day, maybe 2 hours into 2nd day. We were not looking for fast – we were looking for well done. There were promises and statements made, that were not reality. At first sight installer told us point blank that it could not be done in one day – even with the two installers. We were erroneously promised. The job took 3 full days! We were given many incorrect pieces of information from the get-go and left to deal with those empty promises as they unraveled themselves.
Our floor is finished. To the unprofessional eye, it looks fine. Time will tell if the installation was done correctly. We put our faith in our installer, and can only hope it was justified. Before choosing Empire I went on the website and read the accolades. I should have also read the complaints. If I had, I would have seen that empty promises are the bulk of them; not so much the product, not so much the install… but lies about the time and manpower necessary for the job.
We now believe that, after a promised one day job turned into three, when materials needed for the job were not supplied correctly, and that not once did anyone from Empire Today follow up, is that they really aren’t interested in customer satisfaction, and are aware of the empty promises made… But eventually time will tell and the Empire Today name will be synonymous with poor quality, poor reputation. If anyone asks us for a referral for a flooring company. We will tell them about our experience with Empire Today and caution them that what they are told by the Empire Today sales rep, maybe a far cry from what happens when the job is scheduled to take place. I will tell you firsthand that the sales team can sell the product. The problem is they tell you that the company stands behind their product, push that it carries a warranty, and assures you that the company will be there if an issue arises. Beware, that is not true. I was a repeat customer and called them to set up a repair. It took 4 trips to get the job done. The first three times I scheduled, they did not have the correct materials upon arrival after numerous phone calls with customer service. Then on the fourth trip, an installer set the appointment without confirming the date or time with the.customer. I found out at the last minute and had to leave my job unexpectedly. Upon arrival, I was told I would have to pay an additional 221.57 after I had paid for the job on Friday. They could not finish due to lacking materials.
I was on the phone over an hour to settle this before the job was even started. Therefore, this cost me time and money. I would think twice before using their company. Customer service is a must with me and I truly do not feel that I received adequate service. The only positive was the installer. He was professional and courteous.

Empire Today's cost and quality were excellent. That was why I went with them. I had them install a carpet in my son's room and the installers were unbelievable. They did an amazing job at lightning speed. They knew what they were doing and were efficient and professional. I was very pleased. Initially, Empire had missed an appointment and they never told me it was canceled so I was a little annoyed about that. But Empire Today handled it well. The woman that I spoke with on the phone said it was completely their fault and gave me another 10% discount on the carpet if I went with it. They were very nice to accommodate me for my wasted time. Been looking for carpet last few years and decided to go with a company that has years of experience in the business. It started by them not showing up to estimate appointment. Excuse was they had a call off sick. Gave benefit of doubt and decided to purchase carpet. Well few days later they called and again cancel installation due to installer calling in sick! Seems like they have a lot of sick workers. Then they promised a early install time next day and that did also did not happen. So unfortunately I do not want to give business to this type of company. I have spoken to Kieran at "upper management" who claimed we would get a full refund. That was July 19th. Now I call today, stay on the phone for over 48 minutes to be told that it has been longer than 3 months and we cannot get a refund.
I have spent at least 3-5 hours of my time on hold to be constantly given the runaround. This company has purposely dragged this out just to do this to us. We have voicemail messages on my husband's phone stating that they were sorry for not showing up and wanted to reschedule. This has been a horrible experience. We were moving and we had to be out of one house and into the next one, which was the one that we had to put everything in. All the carpet and everything was already out of the new house so, we had to have something and someone who could install it quickly. When we went to Empire Today, everything was great. The rep was nice and explained everything. He also showed us all the samples and it was very good. We had quite a few to pick from. We got carpet, laminate flooring and tile in the bathroom, and the installation went fine. I like the pad underneath the carpeting. It is so nice and soft. Salesman came displaying cheapest product 1st & price was high. Used that product to settle on a price within our range. Then increased product quality raising the price accordingly. Problem is that base low price was too high for the product. So any increases retained that overpriced percentage ratio making every overpriced, sales gimmick. Was assured we were getting the best padding. We were willing to pay extra for it. Used that against us as if they were doing us a favor by not charging us extra for the best. Padding turned out to be the cheapest on the market. 6 pound 3/8". We were told it was 8 pound 3/8" which is equivalent to 6 pound 1/2". Then told no seams. They will delivery 15 ft wide rug. They delivered 12 ft wide and made a seam.
Then they overmeasured the square footage by a huge amount because of how they added the separate room sqft by length ignoring that the width was sufficient to cover the additional room needs. Charged us by sqft but when I called to complain, was told I paid for a job not sqft so I did not overpay. Which is a lie. Receipt states price by sqft/sqyd. Texted the salesman about padding and he texted back stating 8 pound was delivered. Called company and was told it was 6 pound. Confronted salesman with company info & he never responded back. Lie after Lie!! Found same exact rug manufacturer and pattern and type at Home Depot. Their price installed with true 1/2" padding and 8 pound quality was $200 less than Empire Floor's price that we paid. No Good. Shop around!!

I had them tile the floor in my kitchen and install carpets in my home. The rep told me that they could just put the new flooring over what was already installed but that wasn't the case. So, I ended up being charged more than what I had budgeted for. Still, their installers were very professional and they did a good job.

I looked around and liked the timely manner that Empire Today could get out here to do the vinyl flooring. It was installed where I wanted to--in my kitchen, laundry area, bathroom, and bedroom. There were just a couple of mistakes done to it. In one area, under my kitchen sink cabinet, they cut it too short, so there's a gap that can be seen. Then in the bathroom, they just floored the vinyl right over the register vent hole and didn't go back to cut it out. I did not call them because it was something my husband said he could do.
I also had to jump through hoops to get the installation done. It was scheduled to be done on a Friday, but the sales rep did not bother to tell me that it would take more than one day to do it. I talked to a supervisor and he told me the installer was informed that it was a two-day job because he wanted to make sure that the installer was going to come back up on Saturday to do it or finish it up. Apparently, at the time, the installer said that it wasn't a problem. The installer came out Friday. My whole house looked like a construction zone because there was a lot of furniture that needed to be moved. Plus, my bed had to be broken down.
The first issue was them not being able to finish it in one day. My husband and I ended up having to sleep on the recliners Friday night. Then, 6:00, Saturday morning, the installer texted me that he didn't feel well and wasn't coming back until Monday. I told him that that was unacceptable. I immediately got on the phone and called every number I could find until I got ahold of somebody. Empire got ahold of the installer and reminded the installer that he agreed to do it on the weekend. The installer finally decided to come back and get the job finished on a Saturday so I could get my house back in order. The one gentleman installer said that he had a hard time finding anybody that would help him, but he eventually showed up with three other gentlemen that were different from the day before.

On May 24, 2019, I had an Empire sales representative out to my home to discuss installing flooring. I selected a LVF and told the rep that I wanted to finance the project. At that time, the estimate was just over $10,000. When he contacted the office, he said my financing hadn't gone through and I told him that was bizarre since my credit score was high. (I later found out that my identity had been compromised and while simultaneous residing in Washington, DC I was also watching my Netflix account in Syria and opening credit cards…working on that with my bank now).
The sales rep then asked if I'd qualify for any discounts, and I ran him through my profile and he said he that I qualified for a military/first responders discount and he had the authority to approve finance projects under $7500 if I gave him a 10% a deposit. He said the installers could be out the next day (Saturday). I gave him the $750 deposit.
On May 25th, installers came out. I was in the process of replacing drywall because there had been a small leak in the wall. The carpet was dry and the drywall had been repaired. The installers proceeded to rip up the carpet in the bedroom and take it out of the apartment, leaving it outside on the walkway. When they concluded tearing up the bedroom, they said it might be better to let the drywall repair dry more because there was moisture in the air and it would be better for the flooring to wait a few days. They assured me they could be back later that week to finish as I was having family come into town. There was NO mention of any problems with the financing or any balance that needed to be resolved which is why they began the install.
On Thursday May 30, 2019 a different install team showed up to finish the job. This installer informed me that I owed a balance of $6750. I explained that I had financed the project. The installer told me he couldn't finish the job without the balance being paid. I spoke to Empire and they said that I had never been approved for financing and the sales rep didn't have the authority to approve an amount. They said there had been a “miscommunication.” I asked if the installers were going to haul away the carpet they ripped up and left outside in the rain to rot for the previous 5 days and the answer was no. I was left with no carpet in the bedroom and what was there was now rotting outside in the walkway blocking the path to the backyard and gate.
After speaking with Empire several times, they offered to replace the carpet. I explained that since they didn't install the carpet and couldn't match the rest of the apartment, I wasn't interested in that. I also requested my deposit, which they didn't refund for 3 weeks. After dozens of calls seeking remediation for the damage that was done, I suggested that they pay me for the sq FT of the carpet THEY removed and damaged by leaving it outside. Empire refused.
Now, finally going on 7 weeks, I asked if they were going pay to haul away the rotting carpet and was told no. I finally agreed just to have the carpet replaced because the apartment hasn't really been livable and I had to put up my family in a hotel. Today is was also told that "Empire did me a favor" by removing the carpet and that was my compensation. I was injured serving abroad and have no cartilage in my left knee. I can't haul it away myself. I have spoken to dozens of Empire employees - Devan, Mike, Ms. **, Charles (**). Account ID: **. Angela **

I ordered approximately 900 sq ft of tile from Justin on 6/17. I explained that we needed to install the week of 7/15 since I would be off work and I'd be bringing in a storage unit and making arrangements for my dogs so the installers could get in an out as quickly as possible. I was told that there were only four crews in the Orlando area that installed the faux wood plank tiles but there was no doubt given this lead time that they could make this work.
On Friday 7/12 at 3:05pm I received a voicemail that said that the tile I ordered in June was now miraculously unavailable. Justin said that we either needed to wait until the tiles became available (no estimated date) or if we wanted to change tile, we could install on Monday 7/15. Despite the fact that there wasn't another tile we liked, we decided that we had to install when scheduled so she called Justin and he indicated that Monday was now off the table and we'd just need to wait... Hopefully, the tile would be available Wednesday 7/17. He said that was all he could do and that if we needed anything else, we'd have to call the 800 number.
I called the 800 number just after 5pm and spoke with Orlando who told me that there was nothing he could do, but he'd send an email to the local store and someone would call me on Monday. When I explained why this was unacceptable, I asked who else I could speak with. He said that he had no way to contact anyone at the Orlando, FL office and there was nothing else he could do. I asked to speak with his supervisor and he said that they were all on vacation and that there was no one else I could speak with. I ended the call feeling that customer service was the exact opposite of what I'd just received.
On Monday morning (7/15) I didn't hear anything from Empire. I called the 800 number again (I know, I know). I didn't catch the gentleman's name but I explained my discussion with Orlando and said I didn't think he could help me, I just needed him to connect me with the Orlando, FL office...WHICH HE DID! I hoped things were looking up. Alas, my conversation with Bill at the Orlando office was no help. He indicated that they utilize a just in time manufacturing process and sometimes these things happen. I again explained the arrangements I had made and asked how they planned to make this right. He indicated that this was not within his ability and that I had to go back to my salesperson and speak with them about it.
So, I texted Justin and I summarized my call with Bill and told him I realized that he could not help me but given that Bill couldn't help, I'd like him to connect me with someone who could. He indicated that Bill was the sales manager and his boss, so if he couldn't help, I'd need to just keep calling the 800 number. I told Justin that at this point I just wanted my money back. Since he took my deposit, I asked if he could issue a credit. Of course, cancellations and refunds were not within his purview and I'd need to call the 800 number again. Needless to say, I wasn't expecting much from this.
While I was texting with Justin, my wife received a text from Empire saying that my installation was scheduled for Friday 7/19. It said I should text C to confirm. It didn't have any option for what I really wanted to do. So I called back the 800 number and spoke with Miguel. Miguel indicated as the text had suggested that we were scheduled for the installation to begin on 7/19. I once again explained to Miguel that this was not acceptable and that I had new furniture being delivered on 7/20 as we were supposed to be done well before that. I also explained that my three dogs and my sister's two would be in the house starting on Saturday so we needed to be finished by then.
Miguel (I assume to get me off the phone) said that the installers would be here today between 8am-6pm. Now he did not explain how he was going to miraculously going to produce the tile that everyone else had told me wouldn't be available before Wednesday, but he did ensure to tell me that they would be collecting the balance of my contract before they started installing. So, it's 9am on 7/16 and I have bare concrete floors, a demolished bathroom, and I'm waiting for the installers to show up. I have little faith that they'll show and even less that they'll have the appropriate tile if they do. While looking at the other Empire reviews it appears that when things go well, people are happy, but I'm here to tell you that their customer service and service recovery are horrible. If you aren't willing to take the risk, look for another installer.

Hired Empire to install carpeting in bedrooms and LVP in living room and Kitchen. Salesman told us they could install over the existing Tile floors. All rooms are completed with exception of the master bedroom carpet. Tile was removed but not leveled out so floor has divots all over entire floor. Installer tried to install carpet. It was very uneven because of divots in subfloor.. Carpet was also wet and now has mold and water stains on it. We need the carpet replaced now. I have been call their customer service for 4 days and have yet to get a response. Salesperson didn't communicate the job requires correctly.

We had a carpet installed in our old house and we went with Empire Today because they had a deal going on around that time. The option was best suited for our budget at the time. It was pretty good. My wife talked to their rep and she liked her. She said she was really nice and professional. Also, the installation went well. It was top-notch from what I saw the last time we were at the house. The last time I saw it was about a month or so ago and it still holds up its quality. It’s in really good shape. Empire has done an excellent job. They have been really professional with the whole situation and we appreciate it.

She had them come measure and then when she tried to call the salesman with questions/changes she would leave a messages he would tell her he would call back but he never would! She tried calling customer service but would be put on hold for extended periods. When someone would answer they spoke such poor English she could not understand them! They would tell her a salesman would call her but one never did. She finally got thru to someone to just cancel everything because of the poor service and asked for her $150 deposit back. They refused and told her it was too late to get her money back! I would not recommend them to anyone! And don’t believe their commercials. It’s sad that they keep someone’s $150 because they got poor service so they canceled the order!!

Updated on 08/08/2019: There has been no attempt to resolve a complaint from carpet installation on June 24th. Received an email that it has been resolved. There has been no attempt from the company to resolve or even make communication with me.
Original Review: The sales person arrived as scheduled. He was very helpful with the selection of carpet. We scheduled the installation on June 22nd. I received a confirmation phone call stating that the installer would arrive between 8am and 6pm. (Really narrowed the time down). They arrived at 9:30 with the incorrect carpet. The installer said they made a mistake at the warehouse and loaded the wrong carpets. The installer tried to contact the warehouse, but was unsuccessful. Told me there is nothing that can be done, and they would return Monday. I scheduled the install on Saturday because of my work schedule and moving schedule.
I contacted customer service and the sales person. The sales person told me he would help me out with the payment. Customer service told me the installation supervisor would contact me. Sales person could only give me $100.00 off. The supervisor never called. It has been three weeks and no word from Empire. A $3,200.00 installation cost, a wasted day on the original install day, missed day of work because of Monday install and a move in pushed off and they can only compensate me $100.00. I will not use or recommend this company to any of my friends and family.

We got quotes from Costco and an independent person here in Littleton where we live but we decided to go with Empire as the cost was competitive with Costco. We felt like we would have better access to the installers if we had an issue. I like to work with the local businessman but the independent person was so busy and couldn’t get us in. The Empire sales rep was very good, professional and had a lot of experience. We really appreciated that as she helped us narrow down the color really well. I’m very pleased with the carpet that we picked and the color.
We had the carpeting installed in all the bedrooms of our home. One of the two gentlemen who came mentioned that they don't usually do this large of a job and that it was a lot for them, which concerned me a little bit. He said they usually do about half the square footage a day versus ours. We had a very visible seam in the master bedroom. It went all the way under the bed and we decided not to move the bed. They came back in a very timely manner but we felt like they were a little exasperated with us that we had asked them to come back. The seam is much better than it was. They also broke one of my drawers. The guy very earnestly tried to fix it, but my husband said he'd fix it.
The job felt like it was too much for them so maybe the people and the job weren't matched really well. Overall, I’m pleased and would use Empire Today again. I love the carpeting. It’s gorgeous. But I wasn’t thrilled with the installers and that was their weaker area. The hardest part of their business is getting qualified people to do that in this kind of market where it’s busy so it's okay. Their strengths were the product and the salesperson.
Peg, we're thrilled to hear that your experience was a positive one. Thank you for sharing.

I had Empire Today do two rooms of carpet and my bathroom with LVT. I saw the advertisement and thought I was under that ad of $50 every room after the first room. When I got my bill, it wasn’t specified per se that one room was $1,000 and the other two were $50 apiece. On my Wells Fargo bill are $289.82 and then $789.09. I’m trying to figure out where that $50 per room was. It would be nice to know how that was figured out.
The first team came and installed my carpeting. They had to move my furniture for me. I don’t know if they charged me for the moving of the furniture though. And if they did, I’d like to know what the charge was. But the guys were very nice. I moved what I could move, and then they moved the rest of it. They did a nice job. They got in and got out. They moved my furniture back in and I have no complaints about what they did. When they did both the rooms, they asked me what I wanted to do with the rest of the carpeting. It was rolled up, and I thought that there was a lot of carpeting left. Had I realized there wasn’t that much left, I'd have told them to take it.
For the LVT, the installers were a husband and wife. They were very kind and good with what they were doing, but I didn’t realize until after they were done that they had put the door of my linen closet incorrectly so I couldn’t close that door. Somebody else had to come and put the door on correctly. I didn’t really inspect per se, and I don’t know if I’m being picky, but the way that the tile is made, there are white swirls in it. When I went into the bathroom and looked at the tiles, there was a splat of white on a couple of tiles versus the way that the rest of the tiles were swirled. If there were two tiles left, I could understand that, but there were 16 left. I would’ve thought that they might’ve noticed that as well and put out some tiles that look more like each other than these blobs of white.

We had my kitchen vinyl floor done and the upstairs bedrooms carpeted. We initially did some shopping around and based on the cost and the timeframe, we decided to go with Empire. The installation in the bedroom was absolutely perfect. But the kitchen's was not. There were problems with the floor and they tried to correct it by beating it with a rubber mallet but they compromised the integrity of the vinyl. It had dents in it.
Empire sent somebody to fix it and they filled it up, put some more cement down, made part of the floor back down and left big globs of soft glue underneath that you could push on by your finger. Then Empire Today sent a young man out as an inspector with a moisture meter and after he looked at the brand-new floor, he told Empire that we had a moisture issue and that was the reason our floor was wobbling. It wasn’t. There was no moisture underneath that floor. I've been in this condo for over 20 years and I'm a contractor myself. He could only get that reading where they had done the repair and it was from the fresh concrete they had been put down to attach the floor.
He was just a young man and he was inexperienced. Empire Today really needs to give their inspectors some kind of training so they understand the product that they're checking on. If somebody else gets a false reading like that and doesn’t have a knowledge of construction like I do, they would have to pay to have the floor redone. In my case, I was back and forth with Empire until I finally got in contact with a manager. They were wanting to charge $500 to redo this floor but I said no. I insisted that they fix it right. Empire sent a guy out a final time and he completely pulled the floor up. There were no moisture problems there. The fire barrier between the unit below me and mine was also compromised but when the whole thing was smeared with a new concrete layer, it took care of that. They also put down my new floor and it's absolutely perfect now. We are really pleased with it.
I'm also very pleased with the quality of the flooring. If I was gonna put a vinyl floor in my kitchen, I wouldn’t go with a vinyl that’s as soft as this. I'm concerned that if somebody drops something sharp, the floor wouldn’t hold up. But we love the look and it's comfortable to walk on. And after the final installation, you couldn’t ask for anything better. They did a really good job the second time around.

Empire Today installed carpet in the downstairs of our home. We used Empire a couple of times before. We were familiar with them and we know their work. Our new carpeting is much lighter than the old carpeting. It makes the room look bigger. It was very easy to find the particular coloring that we wanted. It's like different colors that are multi neutrals like brown, gray, and green. When the guys came out to do the install, it went fine. The quality of their work is good. We haven't had any problems yet. With the salesman, we were not told how simple this carpet look. It's Berber, and we weren't told that it would pull up easily. And we got a new puppy and its toenails get caught on it. Sometimes, it causes strain like a bump. And once you pull it, it keeps on pulling. It's like connected to one yarn. So the salesman neglected to tell us that.
Also, we called him twice for follow-up and he never returned our call. So my husband ended up calling corporate about it. As far as the installation people, they were fine. But I would never buy from the salesperson again. He seems to know his product. He just didn't relay all the info. He never returned our calls which was like, “I got the sale, I'm just gonna forget you people now.” I didn't like it.

Empire Today is an absolute mess to work with. We had someone come out and measure a room for carpet. The price was a little high, but we agreed to it because it needed to be done anyway. The estimator was only here for about 5 minutes, and when we said we wanted something in particular, he was resistive and said it wasn't necessary. The estimator wanted $65 upfront for some reason, and we stated we would rather they include that in with total purchase price instead. He agreed. He said the installers would be here the very next day, and said we'd get a call when they were to arrive. It was an actual mess! Firstly, they didn't even give me a window of time, only that they'd be here sometime that day.
We sat waiting until 4 pm, when finally someone called from Maryland and asked if they had arrived yet. We said no, and she said she would find out when they would be arriving. We never got a callback and they never showed up. They never bothered to call and explain or apologize, and I am really glad we didn't fork over the $65 they wanted, or we would be out that money. $12,000 Vinyl Flooring - DO NOT USE THEM. Ok... First Doug the sales guy is GREAT! His portion of the job was perfect. Then here comes the rest! I had about 1600 sq. feet of vinyl installed with beautiful baseboards. They came on time, but when it was time for the install they had only 2 people!!! A one day job took over a week. I would come check on the process and by noon there was just one worker! Really! Hopefully I can add the "finished work" pictures. The baseboards.. well some of them got caulking, some didn't, some edges were finished and some were not. They "forgot" to put the tracks on the ground for ALL of my closet doors. The issue is EMPIRE TODAY - farms out their work and then when you need them to complete the work the subcontractors are already working somewhere else!
BEST PART!! They did the flooring in under the washer and dryer and closed off the floor exit for the DRYER! No vent = no dryer! Yes! I called and got management to get them out to finish. They took 3 days of promising to come out and then when they came out were there less than an hour and still left without it finished. I am so disappointed in them. I should have just gone locally and saved money. Josh "journeyman" friendly but is who dropped the ball - 3 times. Sub-contractor Jesse - Disappears before noon. Sub-contractor Chris - The HARDEST and basically only worker. Jay the "Manager" - seemed concerned but micromanaging josh is the disconnect. DOUG - SALESMAN - nicest and most friendly.

Empire Carpet is nothing but a shell company using Independent Contractors that are LLC's. So the salesmen and installer work for themselves and not Empire. My experience would indicate they exercise little control or supervision over these contractors and are not responsive when there is a problem. In our case, the salesmen quoted a price for an upgraded carpet and padding but submitted the contract with the lower graded product. The installer, when asked about the product, lied about the product and proceeded to remove the existing carpeting. When we discovered the error it was too late to remedy the situation. The installer managed to destroy our existing hallway and stair carpeting and stain the newly installed carpeting.
Calling their helpline is useless, they are pleasant but do not attempt to solve the problem. We finished off the day by calling the police to assist us in removing the installer. So to summarize our experience, we have been sold the wrong product, which was damaged in installation, existing carpeting which is damaged and needs replacing. Our existing option for resolution is small claims court since Empire will not respond to our complaints. Do yourself a favor and use local stores, at least you can reach out and touch them when there is a problem.
Kenneth, this is not how we'd like our installations to go, and assure you that we take your concerns seriously. We'll be following up with you shortly to discuss your concerns.

We chose Empire because the price was decent and they said they could install it in a day. We set up an appointment for Wednesday. The day before the appointment, I receive a call saying the installers were on their way and would arrive at 3:30 PM. I called back in confusion, because our appointment was for the next day. They apologized and said they would come the next day. The next day I receive an automated call at 7:30 AM saying the installers would be there at some point, but they couldn't guarantee a time. I get a call at 11:30 saying the installers were on their way and would be here in an hour. Fine, though the salesman said they would arrive early. The two men arrive and begin working.
Couple hours later the one who speaks English calls for me, and he says "Hey I need to ask a favor." I look in my driveway, and the van they arrived in has a flat tire. They ask me if there are any tire places nearby, and I tell them there is. They ask for a ride. I have no idea what their situation is, if they have AAA or insurance through Empire or what, so I agree to take them to a nearby Tire Warehouse. We drive, pick up a tire, and I loan them my jack, because they didn't bring a jack or a spare tire. They change the tire and get back to work.
The work progresses. 8 PM passes, and they're still working. 9 PM, and I still hear the table saw and the air compressor going. 10 PM, 11 PM...still using a table saw outside and still installing flooring. I live in a residential area, and I was starting to feel sorry for my neighbors because they're using loud power tools past 11 PM. At 11:15 after I hear the saw going off I go down and tell them they need to keep the power tool usage to a minimum. At 11:30 they tell me they ran out of the wood trim for the floor and asked if they could use white trim for the closet. I tell them to go ahead. I'm not happy with the situation, but I don't want to make it last longer. They install the last of the trim and leave with apologies for the time. I walked around my floor after, and there were a couple areas where there was a pronounced bump in the flooring. All in all, a terrible experience and I will never do business with this company again.

I had carpeting and linoleum put down at home and opted for Empire Today due to the fact that they would bring samples to me and that they were quick. I also bought from them before, so I knew what to expect. The rep brought in two little pads of choices and since they didn't have a lot of choices, you kinda have to be fine with only one or two ideas. I was not very happy with the selection, but we found one that we wanted. The buying experience was okay. However, I had a lot of problems during installation that I'm not sure if I would use Empire again.
I had used Empire many times before, but this is the first time in Florida to use them. The linoleum guys were great, but the carpet guys were terrible. The carpet guys didn't bring enough carpet the first day. Then they broke the transition pieces between the carpet and the linoleum and said that it wasn't their problem to fix it. They were really creepy about giving my credit card number, too. After about five days, Empire finally made it right and sent a guy out that did a good job. He was very respectful and nice. But it was like since they already got my business and my money, they took their time on fixing the problem. So, I was disappointed in that.
The quality of the carpet is terrible. It's staining already and it has only been a couple of weeks. I wasn't very happy with it. I was told it's guaranteed for 10 years, and that they would give me a copy of what I have to do to keep the guarantee but they didn't do that. I asked the installer for it, but he said he doesn't do that. But then he turned around and made me sign something that said he gave me the warranty information. I asked him why would I sign it if he was not giving me the warranty information, and he said he doesn't know what I was talking about. He also said that he didn't even read it and that I should just sign it so he could go. I had to call corporate twice to get a copy of the warranty, and it still hasn't come in the mail. So, I'm not impressed.

Cannot get an itemized invoice. We had Empire install carpet and laminate installed in a rental property we owned. At the time, they were holding a promotion of buy one room, get two rooms for $50 each. The estimate seemed high and we questioned the sales rep. He indicated it was the right amount and said we would see all of that on the itemized statement/contract. When we received our signed copy of the contract..it showed the estimate amount..but no itemization. I have been on the phone with Empire Today Customer service six times now, trying to get an itemized statement so that we can verify that we did get the promotion and were charged correctly. The first time I called, they said, "No problem, we will email it to you." All we received was another copy of the contract with just the total as was given us as an estimate. Second call, "oh..we are so sorry..we will email it to you". We never received it.
Third call, "Well, they were supposed to email it to you, I can see that. But we do not have an email on file for you". I confirmed my email on both previous calls. This same person then asked me, "Oh, is your email address" and proceeded to read my email address. So she said she would email it to me again. Fourth call..again "Oh, we are very sorry, here, let me send it over right now." I waited on the phone with the customer service rep, but no email came through. So I asked her to mail me a copy which she said she would do. Three weeks have passed and no itemized invoice in the mail. Fifth call.."Oh well, we don't have that information available here. I see that you financed your carpet through " ". You need to call them. They will have an itemized invoice..we don't have it here". I disagreed with her and said, "I don't believe they will have that info"..and she assured me they would.
Called the credit card company..of course they didn't have it. Called Empire back and spoke with another customer service rep..she couldn't come up with it and told me her supervisor advised her to tell me they do not have access to that information. I asked to speak with her supervisor..her supervisor told me that they can only provide the contract with the estimate/quote on it and that all the estimates are the same. I told her that was not possible because people have different size rooms, buy different products, etc. I also said that they must have the information because how else could they produce a quote. The supervisor said she would contact our local office and ask them to contact me.
I simply cannot believe that they cannot supply me with the detailed information to support the total they charged me..and at this point, it makes me suspicious that they are hiding something. Great product..good installation service..but I should be able to see what they are charging me for specifically with regards to the promotional "sale" we purchased under. Very frustrated and at this point..would not recommend this company to anyone.

Installers did not have the binding ready for the stairs. They stated they would come back in two days to install the stairs. They did not show and would not answer the phone. I called Empire’s 1 800 number and after an hour on the phone, was told that there was no info on them needing to finish installing the carpet but would call me back when they had more information but could not tell me when they would call back. They have my 4300 dollars and left me with old carpet on the stairs and no info if or when they will finish the stairs. An absolute fail of a company and professionalism.

Scheduled an appointment about a week in advance. Was given July 7th, with a 2 hours window from 1 to 3 pm. Received a confirmation email with a reminder on Friday 7/5/2019. July 7th arrives and at 3:15 no salesman is at my home. I called and after having to verify all my information, including my phone number which the agent already knew and said it to me, I finally learned that no one was going to show up at my home. Apparently the agent or a supervisor could not state what the conflict was. No phone call, no text, no email to let me know that no one was coming. I wasted my entire day waiting around for a completely unprofessional, unreliable salesperson from this company.
I was told I could go ahead and reschedule and they would offer me a whole $100.00 off my order. Seriously, why would I want to waste my time, reschedule and give this unprofessional company another two hour window. I was told a sales manager would contact me the next business day. Well that is tomorrow. I informed the supervisor that my time is just as valuable to me. I should bill them for my time of waiting around all day. I am sure they will offer some excuse for their lack of reliability and unprofessional display of common courtesy!

Empire Today had something done for my sister-in-law’s house. I was told that they were good so I called them and had a wood floor installed. I liked the guy that helped me. When I had questions, I called him and he called me back right away and explained everything. I have wood floors in my main living room and family room, and the floor I had installed is almost the same as the floor I have. My old floor was glued and when you walked, you could feel that it was flat. The one that they installed in my mom’s bedroom was a floating one. But it’s okay though.

They were at their job and they didn’t like to mess around or sit around. They were moving and I like how they did the borders. It looks so professional. I also liked the product that they gave me and my favorite feature is that it's waterproof. I thought it was a different texture though, but it’s okay and I’m grateful for what I have. In fact, I want the rest of my house done and I want the same guys that came before. All in all, my experience went really well and I recommended Empire Today to my co-worker. Then, I also had another bathroom done upstairs. It was a challenge in the foyer because of the weight that they had to take out or some kind of stone. The boards underneath were the original from the house but all in all, it worked out well. The customer service rep, Andrew, was awesome. He explained everything that they had to do when they ran into some problems, and the whole crew was very courteous and polite. They were very good and I would have them again. We had two different visits from Empire and two different things were done. We converted my ex-husband’s old office into a bedroom for my 81-year old mother so we put carpet there. We also put carpet in the family room. We then had Empire put laminate flooring in the kitchen, the hallway, and the laundry room. I knew my brother-in-law probably could have done the flooring for us but he was busy. I've been divorced for 15 years so there's no handyman around here to help me with the flooring. I just decided to go wing it and try Empire. It was a little expensive, but I'm happy with the way it turned out so it's worth it.
My salesperson was from Pennsylvania which is right next to us. We're in Delaware. He came down and he was very pleasant and helpful. He suggested that I ask if there were any extra pieces from the workman in case I ever need them for future repairs to the flooring. We had carpet remnants. Overall, the flooring is fine. But I didn’t realize that with the laminate, I gotta be careful. It started showing indentation marks from the kitchen chairs and stuff. I didn’t know I had to put stuff on the bottom of the chairs. I bought some kind of stuff but they are not staying on too well.

A friend of mine used Empire in North Carolina and had very good results. My friend said the pricing was very good and I was already gonna go that way. I knew what I wanted to get done and it was a pretty quick sale. We did all the prep work. I took all the old carpet out that had been in for 40 years. I had four rooms and a 13-stair carpeted hallway. Everything went well. My salesperson was fine. The people that came in to do the work didn't always speak very good English so sometimes communication was a little bit difficult, but they knew what they were doing. They were fast and efficient.
Empire did a beautiful job with the installation. I love the finished result. It was like a new install for them. We didn’t get much off for doing all of the prep work though. I thought maybe more should have come off. But Empire did take all the old carpet and I'm grateful for that. The only thing was I was expecting some scuff marks, but I thought they did an excessive amount of damage on the woodworks in the room. I had wood and paint and all that kind of stuff. Once you have a light colored flooring in, it's hard to go back and to paint because you're paranoid you're gonna get something somewhere. They could have put some plastic over the banisters and done a little prep like when you go to get your car done and put a mat down to prevent some of the damage that could have been prevented. The packing of the carpet is very scratchy and that can definitely scuff walls and wooded areas.
But I was able to fix everything. I just would have felt bad had it been some older couple that would have hired painters then had to have all those people come back out to fix what had happened. In my case, it probably took a day to fix everything that was damaged like the wood that had to be resanded and restained. There was a lot. But the end result was very good for the carpet itself. I look at my flooring now and I'm happy with what happened. I like that my flooring is all the same color carpet throughout. The carpet is great. I got what I ordered. I would recommend Empire to a friend, but I would definitely let them understand what they would get so there would be no surprise at the end.

We used Empire Today in the past and we haven’t had a problem with them. This time around, we got a wood flooring and a luxury vinyl tile. We did the living room, the hallway, the stairs, and a little landing. The customer service was absolutely horrible. They were supposed to be there Thursday and Friday but they didn’t show up until around 12 the first day. And we couldn’t really communicate with them. They didn’t speak English. The second day, they came and didn’t have the right trim to match the trim they put in the day before. They dropped off the guy in the morning and the other guy forgot a tool so he left. There was one guy working and then the other guy didn’t come back until about 3 o’clock. They were at my house until 8:15 on a Friday night.
There were problems with the installation. It was just kinda poor work. There was a little gap where it meets the wall. There was a nail sticking out of the step which I cut my foot on. When the guy fixed the nail in the wall on the stairs, I ran my finger over it and it’s still there. I could still feel it. He said, “Oh, you’re always gonna get nails.” But I don’t buy that. Why should I be stepping on nails when I paid a lot of money for this? They also put the wrong trim in. There was one area where they cut the molding or the trim was too long in the area. I called about this and it took a long time to get someone to call back. I finally got in touch with Jameson and he was very helpful. He told me they'd have somebody come out but they didn’t show up the day they were supposed to come out.
They came on a Saturday morning and only did a partial job. They said, “Oh, well. We can’t fix that. That’s not our job. We didn’t do that. And we don’t have the equipment so someone else is gonna have to come back.” They were supposed to come back yesterday at 3:30. I came home to like 3 messages on my machine. Empire called. The installer also called and said to call them back right away. I called Empire and they said I was gonna have to reschedule. I told them our plan was for 3:30. The supervisor said they don’t make appointments at 3:30. They have a 4-hour window.
Now, they are supposed to come Friday morning. We’ll see if they fix my problems, but I don’t have much faith. I don’t like the fact that I’m paying money for something that I’m not even happy with. We've been using Empire since I was young - in my apartments, in my homes, when I lived in New Jersey and when we moved out to Pennsylvania. I used them several times that’s why I returned to them. Now, I will never, ever, and nor will I ever recommend them.
I would suggest people don’t go through Empire. It seems like they spend a lot of money on their commercials. They’ll come out right away but when it comes to the actual contract work, the people do shabby work then they just leave. They don’t even speak English. It’s just very aggravating. I lost at lot of time off at work for this and the job is still not done. I don’t like losing money from work. That makes the project cost even more money, and I shouldn’t be paying that. And the guy I spoke to yesterday was saying it’s not their fault that I have to take off from work. I told him it is their fault that I have to take off from work because if it was done correctly the first time, then I wouldn’t have to take off additional time. It’s a terrible experience.

Our salesman told us that the crew putting in the flooring are employees. They are not employees, they are subcontractors. I do not appreciate being lied to!!! I should have told him no a couple more times to see how much less it would have cost or went with a subcontractor to begin with. While the crew were here I called my salesman about my bed being too large. The salesman had seen it at time of the sale and I had asked if we need to take it apart, we were told it would make it into excessive furniture.
Called salesman and left message, the office would call me, problem is, that is not how I was told it would go. Still waiting to hear back from Josh (the salesman). At least it wouldn't be a lie to call and say "sorry I didn't bother after collecting money, I don't care if you're happy with your floor, money is all that matters." Ask about your steps before you sign, that is if you're sure you're not being lied to. Our steps are not flat at the front, they are sort of like a flatter version of a baseboard. It is not pleasant walking on our steps. You need to be very careful if you're in any raised shoe. Barefoot is definitely not pleasant. I wish I knew what I know now.

Empire did everything they said they were gonna do at the price they were gonna do so it was good. I like everything about the carpet and the LVT I purchased. I thought the padding was gonna be a little bit thicker. It is standard and it’s fine.
I called two days before to say that I have a 4 by 4 closet downstairs and if they could add that to the order. The guy said that it would be $183. I thought it’s a little closet, they could just count it as another room and probably with the waste they had, they wouldn’t have to order more carpet. I thought they could add that on there and it wouldn’t be so as expensive. I didn’t end up getting that done. I'm not gonna pay that for a tiny closet when one of the bedrooms is $50. We had Empire Today install linoleum in the kitchen and the bathroom, and rugs in our bedroom and family room. It was the entire downstairs that was covered and was done. We've been a repeat customer of Empire Today. They also did the linoleum upstairs in the kitchen and in the two bathrooms upstairs. And they also put it on our enclosed porch carpeting. We were happy with the results and with the price. They did a good job. We have no complaints about that.
The only complaint we have was I told them the extent of the carpeting and linoleum downstairs, so we had to take everything out of one room and move it to another. And then, everything out of the kitchen moved to the family room, and then, everything from the family room back into the kitchen. They gave us a start date for the rug of Saturday. Saturday came and went, but they never showed up. So, the main problem was we had to do all this shoehorning everything, and live with it, until we could get in touch with them.
We had a hard time getting in touch with somebody. We had to call our salesman that came and did the measuring. He called us back and he got it straightened out for us. We knew the product was in the warehouse because they told us it came on Wednesday, or should’ve been put on an order for installation for Saturday ‘cause it was already in there, and somebody neglected to do it. So, that was a little bit of an inconvenience. But they came. They did it and did a beautiful job.
The salespeople were very good too. We had Roman for the first time, and he did an excellent job. We had a painter come to paint the kitchen. And when he moved out the refrigerator, he ripped the linoleum. We had to have it redone. And Roman was the man that took care of that for us. MacDonald was the salesman the second time around. He did an excellent job too, and we were very pleased with what he did for us. Empire doesn't have a wide selection but we’ve always managed to find something that we liked, that we were very happy with. I would recommend them to anybody else.

Purchasing with Empire Today was fine. I've used them in the past and also on my rentals. We're satisfied with the purchase and with the install. The sales rep was great. She answered all our questions and she was very thorough. I was quite surprised and happy about it. We had two installers come out, one for the upstairs, then we were going to have hardwood flooring put into the basement. Unfortunately, because of an unleveled basement, we were not able to put a hardwood floor so we went ahead and just had carpet put in.
We had a different installer on the second install, and we were so unhappy with the way that they handled things. They were so rude to my wife and there was a language barrier. If I was home, I would've kicked them out of my house. We made complaints to the installing company and, "Well, just leave them alone," was his response to it. I was really not satisfied with the installment but everything else was perfectly fine. On our first install, they were great, efficient, and on time.

Having the flooring installed was an all-day process, and the carpet didn't take half as long. The installers moved the furniture out and moved it back. Also, they had a question they needed to ask, they asked. They did a good job putting the flooring down and it’s beautiful. I'm satisfied.

Empire Today was having a sale when I looked at the ad sales. They came to my home with samples. The salesman was honest, straightforward, and helpful. He answered my questions. I had carpet installed on two stairwells, a hall and the whole upstairs of my house and the people who installed it did a great job. The carpet has met my expectations.

Empire Today had a special going and we had a carpet installed in the bedroom through them. The rep's customer service was great.

We are happy with our roughly 3,000 sq. ft. of engineered wood. On the flip-side of this experience, we are still waiting for compensation for two doors that were cut too short. I have left messages and emails and am still waiting for the money to buy the doors. The invoice from Home Depot (now null and void) was submitted weeks ago. Our experience with the product is a positive one.

The sales lady and customer service from Empire Today seemed great. I ended up getting wood flooring with very light color. I was concerned that the original flooring of the house was brand new carpet and we are in a new development community. The house was just built and the Empire guy came in tearing the carpet, but he didn’t ask if I wanted to preserve it. We talked about that and he said his job was to come in and replace the carpet. I told him I understand that, but given this is totally a new community that they're in and he can see that they’re still building houses around me, why would he just rip the carpet up? Other than that, everybody loves the floor.

We liked the warranty and the product selection that Empire Today offered. And we thought that their carpet was good quality, so we went with them. We got carpet throughout our home and their sales reps were very helpful and very thorough. The installation team was also very good and they installed it all in one day. It's a really good carpet and I don't have any complaints about it. I like the softness of it, the thickness, the texture, and the durability as well.

I had Empire Today install carpet and vinyl in my home. The salesman who came out to talk to us was terrific. He explained everything and was just down-to-earth. He didn't try to get us to buy anything. However, when they put the quarter round around the vinyl, none of the cuts are right. Other than that, the floor itself is beautiful. Now that we have our new flooring, it makes our whole house better.

I purchased three different kinds of flooring from Empire Today. I did the vinyl in the kitchen, bathrooms, and dining room. I did the interlock wood flooring in my bedroom and an office, and I did carpet in the rest of the house. I like all of it and I like the color I picked. With the carpets, I kinda stuck the same color throughout the rooms. It’s greyish, so it’s soft yet it won’t show a lot of dirt. The quality seems good, too. I used Empire once before. They did a good job and they did good work this time, too. And the guys that came out seemed like they knew what they were doing. I had one room that the moisture content where the vinyl had to go down kept staying high, and they came out three times before we got the moisture content down. So, they kept coming back to get it done. I recommend Empire.

I was trying to get my flooring done very quickly. Empire's customer service was very good. They were very informative and told us that the type of pad that we were thinking of was not what was specified for the type of carpet that we were getting. They kinda redirected us for that and they were able to show us samples. We were very happy. My wife was there during the installation and she said that the installers were very professional and quick. The new flooring is great so far.

We purchased the vinyl plank flooring for our kitchen. We are very happy with this choice, the floor is beautiful! The installation crew was fantastic - worked efficiently and were very polite and neat. They cleaned up after themselves and did a great job!! Probably a little more than we wanted to spend but we would recommend Empire.

Re-engineered hardwood installed in two rooms. Installer was absolutely phenomenal! Very skilled, attentive to detail and careful with my belongings. Knowledgeable and amazing abilities to do this work by himself. Personable, professional and did absolutely everything he said he would do.
