Empire Today flooring gave me a contracted price of about $12000 for a flooring job on my lower level. The installers showed up and hardly spoke English and told me they would need to do significant amounts of work beyond what was discussed by the salesperson which ultimately wound up being an additional $3000 plus dollars. Since they changed the contract I chose to not proceed and request my "refundable" $1200 deposit. One month later and 4 phone calls later I still do not have my deposit despite being told by every customer service representative that it is pending or processing. Terrible, just terrible business practice. I ended up going with a local well known business that gave me a superior project and did quality work in 1.5 days versus the 4 days that empire told me. I also saved 7 thousand dollars. Never again!

Empire Today's price was very comparable to other companies, however, due to timing, I went with them. I was not home on the installation day, but my husband was and he said everything went fine. They came in, turned their music on, and got right to town. I had carpet installed in a couple of bedrooms and its looks are my favorite part. But the installers had to come back. They did not put the carpet in the closet, which was attached to the bedroom, and there was no threshold. I called them back and they fixed it.

I’ve used Empire Today before and had good work, and their pricing is good. This time, I got four rooms carpeted through them. The customer service answered my questions. They didn’t push any particular product and they allowed me to get what I was interested in. The installation went great. They finished it when they said they were going to without any issues. Everything’s great.

I thought about mostly going to Lowe’s or to Home Depot, and then hiring a subcontractor. But I went with Empire Today because it was supposed to be a $50 for every additional room, but then I picked out stuff that didn’t apply to that. And that made me pick Empire to start with. The sales rep that I dealt with was pretty new but she was very good.

The installation took three days because it was a very big job, and the people who came out worked phenomenally. I had tiles installed in my family and Florida rooms. And then I had the stuff that looks like wood but it’s not really wood put in my kitchen and dining room and my front living room. I've never seen two people work so hard in my life. These boys worked from the time they got there ‘til the time they left. They were there when they said they were gonna be. We had most of the furniture moved, but the few pieces that we didn’t, they moved for us. They worked great as a team. I’m very satisfied with everything. I’d love to have gotten it cheaper but everything went very smoothly.

We had gone over to Lowe’s and was looking at flooring, but the associate there didn’t seem very knowledgeable, and the quality of the product didn’t seem up to par. We've seen Empire Today commercials, so we decided to call them up. The sales associate was super nice and we definitely noticed the difference in the quality of the flooring. It was thicker and better made.

We wanted to replace the carpet in our living room and we were debating between the laminate and the vinyl. We went with the vinyl, which was the recommendation of the sales representative. We liked the design of it really well. Then, we went with a really thick carpet upstairs in our bedrooms as well. We liked the way it looked and it was high quality. We are very pleased with the flooring.

We had a long-time flooring company that we dealt with and the guy who did exactly what we wanted all the time retired. We considered other brands and the cost was better with Empire Today. The quality of the product was comparable as well. We were able to get the color and the style of the carpet that we wanted and the sales representative made it efficient. He asked us a series of questions that got us to where we wanted. He brought in several options and gave us a little quick idea of what the carpet was like--the entry-level, the medium grade, and the good stuff. He did a good job of making it quick and easy.

Then there seemed to be a team leader with the installers. He got the guys started, he came up to talk to me about just paying, which we did there, and then he went right to work with the guys. We needed him to move his van out of the driveway quickly so my daughter could leave for work and he had no problem. He came up and did everything. Then I went down, looked at the stairs, looked for seams, and I couldn’t find any. Everything was clean. There weren’t any marks on the wall from where they laid the carpet down, and sometimes, the carpenters hit the paint and there was none of that. Everybody worked with us really well in getting it on the schedule and getting it in ‘cause we needed a few days to get the basement ready and that wasn’t a problem. It was a great experience.

Empire carpet is the worst company for customer service! You can’t speak to anyone higher up than your closest location. I have an inch gap between my floorboards and walkway and a sticky residue that their “manager” said was probably stainguard at the manufacturers. Since this man left my home I’ve tried repeatedly to contact someone to have it fixed but can’t get anyone one the phone. I’ve been hung up on and avoided for 2 months. Save yourself the heartache and read the reviews. I wish I would have. Our carpet it is 7 months old.

I wanted something darker than what I had before and the installation went well.

We had wood floors installed and a stairway covered with carpet by Empire Today at our whole house except for one bedroom and the steps. We wanted it done immediately and I’ve used them in the past. Downstairs, we went with a light gray with a wide floor. And upstairs, we went with a little thinner and more of a taupe. The guy, John, was great as far as coming out, explaining the products, measuring and doing all he had to do. I’d give him an A. The A-plus would go to the installer. He was great. It was done in two weeks apart in the upstairs and then the downstairs.

The only disappointing experience was when I had to wait two weeks for very small pieces of trim upstairs. It wasn’t a deal-breaker, but it took forever to get the product. And then the other headache I had was when I financed some of it, and that whole process took long. They screwed up a little bit to where I had to use one of my credit cards instead of Empire financing. And that was a bit of a disappointment. There seemed to be a lot of poor communication between their representative, the salesman, home office and Wells Fargo. Two-thirds of it, I had financed. One-third, I had to use one of my credit cards. And I went that way just so they expedite the job. If I would’ve pushed, we would’ve gotten it all straightened out eventually. But at the end of the day, I’m happy and I’m a satisfied customer. I would recommend Empire Today and I’d use them again.

I used Empire in my old house, and when I moved there was carpet here and I have planned to get the carpet up because it was old and it was time for it to go. I saw Luna and all the rest of it and said, “Well, I've dealt with Empire before.” So I called Empire. I had the laminated flooring downstairs and the carpeting upstairs and the bedrooms done through them and everything so far is good.

The installation went real well. The guys were real good, real nice and considerate. But I didn’t realize that they had to move everything out upstairs and where the carpet was, to lay the new carpet. I'm thinking they would do the same thing as the guys downstairs, and the ones that did the laminated floors said, “Oh, no, that’s different.” Bottom-line is they moved the furniture out and moved it back. But then I had to call them back because they had moved the furniture too close to the outlets. I couldn’t reach the outlets.

I called the installer because I had his number. I didn’t get an answer, but he did tell me he had another job, so I called the company. The company got in touch with them and they did come back. He said, “What happened?” So I went upstairs with them to show them just what the delay was, and they moved the furniture and I can reach the outlets now. Everything went well with the flooring. It looks good. I'm real happy with the way it looks.

So last March I had Empire Today come to my house to laminate two rooms, a hall and some stairs. They was suppose to also do the living room and dining room, but since I was going to remove a wall that separated the living room and dining room I told them I would call them back when the wall was taken down. I called them back and they came gave me the cost and I paid for the job. However, when the installers came they told me the step that replace the wall was not a part of the job. I contacted the sales Rep {Ken} and he said he would get back in contact with me. The installers left. So I'm waiting to hear back from the sales rep, NOTHING!

I call the main office and explain to them the problem, as always somebody had to contact somebody else. This has been since November 20th, 2019. I call again and the manager informs me that they can not put laminate on the steps? "Hello you just put laminate on may steps 7 months ago". When he check and saw what I was saying he told me he had to contact somebody else. Today is December 4th, 2019 and I still have not received my money back, nor has my steps been done over. Very very poor service. How can you come in somebody home knowing that you can not put laminate on a "flowing" area (Stairs) but yet you do it. This act jeopardize the lives of everyone in the household. These people are supposed to be the experts, that's why we call them to our houses.

I was definitely not happy with the fact that when I booked my appointment there was a sale going on but once the rep came he stated that sale was over. They should really state that on their website. I still decided to get the work done. I had my floors installed right before Thanksgiving last week on 11/26. I didn't know Empire just subcontracted workers to do their work, so that was a bit startling, just 3 men and a white van in plain clothes. They finished the work in 2 days. The finished product I was not happy with the actual floors look amazing, the "quarter rounds" look unsightly, the piece to put between my carpets and the LVP flooring was on back order so they have not been placed yet, I was not told that before the install.

I left a message for my sales rep, surprise surprise no callback. I spoke to the flooring supervisor, Tony, after the job was done and told him my concerns. Due to my work schedule I told him they would have to come back the following week, he said he would reach out to me to set it up. Well he did not. I thought I would get a call that Friday to set up for the following week and that didn't happen. So I called him on Monday 12/2, he said "oh yeah we have the piece in. I just have to reach out to the carpet guys to see when they can come out, I will call you back to let you know what works for them." Well no call back on Monday, no callback yesterday.

I think that is very poor customer service, I should not have to keep calling to get my work completed. My time is just as valuable as theirs. This Tony person comes off very unprofessional because he is not true to his word. All aspects of the job should be reported before the job is started. They were very happy to take my money, but a 2 day job is now flowing into a 9 day ordeal with crickets on their end. I am being very patient but I don't want my patience to run out. I probably would not recommend my friends or family to Empire. I should have chosen a different company.

We had hardwood flooring installed by Empire Today. They were very professional. In the beginning, the way we wanted to run it was lengthwise. There was a hardwood floor below it and they said that we should do it width-wise because it'll go opposite of the old floor and would make it more solid. I value their opinion on that so we put it in and there are no squeaks. They had to come back because they missed one little piece they had to put in there. The floor is perfect. It has a lighter color, which really complements our furniture. It goes the whole length of our dining room and into our living room. It's quite a long thing, but it's great. And they trimmed it up really well. Our experience with Empire Flooring was great.

The installers from Empire cut some of the aisle planking a little short and they had to come back and redo it. The installation was fairly good. But the cleanup after wasn't so great. For instance, when they put the carpeting down, you have little bits of carpet on the edges. There was a lot of that left. Also, the communication with the installation team was not good. Empire Today
    Caller: Charlotte

    Transcribed WE 12/15/2019

Charlotte: Our call may be recorded. What product did you have installed with Empire Today?

    KIRK: Laminate vinyl flooring.

Charlotte: What are areas of the home did you have it installed in?

KIRK: Pretty much the whole place.

Charlotte: Did you consider purchasing with other companies prior to…?

    KIRK: Yes.

Charlotte: How did the cost and quality compare to the other brands that you had considered?

    KIRK: About the same.

Charlotte: What do you think was the deciding factor that made you decide to go with Empire?

KIRK: The speed that they could get it installed.

Charlotte: What was the interaction like with the sales agent that came out?

    KIRK: It was terrible.

    Charlotte: What happened?

KIRK: Worst experience of my life. First, he came out when he wasn’t supposed to. Then, when he did come out, he was running significantly late. We had an event we had to go to that night. He ended up having to come out twice. He had to come back later that night after we got back home from the event to finish the contract off.

Then, I paid him with what is a high-security check from Merril Lynch, and I specifically told him not to try to do it as a electronic check because it would not go through. He did that anyway, even though he was told not to do that. Of course, it didn’t go through.

The company that took over from them was very polite, they called me and said, “Well, this never should’ve been put through that way.” I said, “Yeah, that’s what I told him.” And they said, “But he still did it anyway?” And I said, “Yeah. He put it in under a Bank of America routing instead of Merril Lynch routing.” And so, yeah. My experience with the salesman was the worst ever was. He was terrible.

Charlotte: When the guys came out to actually do the install, how was…?

    KIRK: They were fantastic.

Charlotte: What was the interaction like with them?

KIRK: Oh, I was here the whole time, it was very good. They were very helpful.

Charlotte: What do you think about the quality of work performed?

    KIRK: It was good.

Charlotte: What’s your favorite feature of your new flooring?

KIRK: Probably the look of it.

Charlotte: Tell me about the after-install, like after they did. Did they leave a mess lying around? Did they clean up? How did that go?

KIRK: No, they cleaned up. It went well.

Charlotte: If you had to rate your experience on a scale of 1 to 5, and 5 is that you would recommend to friends and 1 is you’re pretty dissatisfied, how would you rate them?

KIRK: The whole experience or just the…?

    Charlotte: Yes, the entire.

KIRK: I would say with all the hassles I had because of the salesman, it would be a 2.

Charlotte: Would it be okay if I posted a few of your comments to our website to make the feedback available to Empire?

    KIRK: Yes.

Charlotte: If you have an email address that you’d like to share with me today, I can send you over a link of it if you’d like to read it.

    KIRK: That’s okay.

Charlotte: If a friend or neighbor were asking you about Empire, what would you tell them?

KIRK: I’d tell them if you didn’t have to work with the salesman, they’d be a good company to deal with. But I don’t trust their salesman.

    Charlotte: Our call is recorded.

My installation was smooth, nice installers. But.. Be sure to take your measurements from Empire in writing. I made a mistake not doing it. How I know: 1. There was too much carpet left with installers (I confirmed it was cut for me only). 2. Sales guy verbally told me my area was ~800 sf and for the same rooms HomeDepot guy measured it to 575 sf (yes they gave the official measurement). That is way too much difference, and I paid for that extra sq without any work. There is no mention of sqf calculation in any of the official documents, so there is no way for me to go back ask. In my opinion All empire's offered price discounts etc are manipulated by giving you lump sum quotes and by hiking price so always compare your quotes.

I've used Empire Today in the past at my other house when we were gonna sell it. I had a couple of rooms done by them and we were very satisfied with that carpet and how everything went but we had a bad experience with the first salesman. After he was here, my wife called to ask him a question, and he got nasty with her. We went looking elsewhere after that and then I told my wife that we could call back and see if they have a different salesman because we didn't have a problem with anything before then with the salesman. When a new salesman came out, he told me the other guy was no longer with them. They should not give a hard time to a customer just because she wanted to ask a question.

We originally got a quote which was about $200 cheaper than everybody but when we called back, it almost wound up being the same. Our estimate from the original person who came out wasn't right and we wound up almost paying $100 more than I could've gotten from another company. Still, everything went smoothly during the installation of the carpet in the bedroom. The installers got here in the afternoon and Daylight Savings time had just changed. The guys were outside working in the dark but it turned out good. Originally, the carpet was all supposed to be one piece, which was why we went with the higher estimate on the carpet. They wound up seaming my carpet in the middle of the room, which I wasn't crazy about but it seems to be good. We had two little seams, one going into our hallway heading towards the bathroom and the other one leaving the bedroom. They had to come back and work on them.

The carpet seemed like it was what we looked at but we didn’t get the good padding like we were supposed to. When the guys left, it was almost 9 o'clock and we were still putting furniture back in here. I didn't notice it until the next day. I wasn't happy with the padding. When you walk on the carpet, it's not the same as what we walked on. There's about a four-foot by four-foot section when you're leaving our bedroom, where the floor is going down there just coming in and out of the bedroom. The rest of the room does not feel like that. It almost feels like they needed a second piece of padding under there.

The guy was late almost 2 hours. Quote $20K (yes, $20K) then of course got the "manager" on the phone for the special price you never give anybody and that I am not supposed to see. Do they think we don't do our research on materials and costs? What a shady way to do business. Those old school used car salesmen techniques are so unprofessional, especially when they advertise $99/room coupons and 75% off on their website. Thinking this might need to be looked at by law professionals for deceptive marketing.

I liked the person that I was working with. She tried to make sure that it was affordable for me. I had laminate floors done in my living room and my dining room, and the installation went well. They were on time and they were as professional as they could be. They didn't speak English well, which was a little hindrance, but they still communicated well enough and they cleaned up by themselves. They were also friendly. I love the flooring and it definitely met my expectation.

I was just looking at a commercial that Empire Today had on television, where they were offering this special carpet. I really was just gonna get carpet and I ended up getting this different flooring in the living room. I didn't know they had that special with carpet. We were supposed to get this room and this room was gonna be $75. But it didn't come up to that. The price was sort of misleading.

The sales rep was nice, he was good. The carpet upstairs is kind of buckling a bit and he told me he knew a guy who would come out and fix that for us. And that we just had to give him a call. So, we called him and he never came. The one day he was supposed to come, he told us that he was in an accident. He was supposed to come and look at the floor when I told him about the trimming and how the paint came off. Maybe that wasn't his job, but he didn't say that. He just said, "Well, I'll come out and take a look." But he never came. I called and texted two or three times. He ignored us.

Finally, I just stopped texting. He just wasn't interested in doing it and I felt that that was a little rude. I wouldn't have done that. I would've just told the person, either, "I'm not gonna help you or who you need to contact or person I know doesn't do that anymore." But he said, "Once they install your carpet, just give me a call and I'll have the guy come out and tighten that up for you." And then I asked him what the cost would be, and he said, "We'll let you know at the time." So my carpet upstairs is still buckled. It isn't fixed. I was totally dissatisfied. It's not worth it. What I'm paying every month is very expensive. Everything total was close to $7,000 for that flooring and the carpet, and that's a lot of money. So, you really wanna be totally satisfied when you spend that kind of money.

Also, there was the one part in the flooring where their rep said should be painted because it was white and the hardwood was pink. My husband painted it, but it didn't last a week. It was chipping off. So we called Empire Today and they came right out. Their reps got the trimming, but closer to the color. So, they took another week or so and they did come out with a different one, matched it up, and they put it in. So, it's okay now. The trimming really should be that color all the way around. We were not totally satisfied with the way it is, but we really couldn't afford to change it right now. But if ever we get the opportunity, we will change it. Other than that, the experience was okay. The carpet is great, and the color and everything look really nice.

The salesman that came out was on time with samples as requested. We changed our installation three times due to us not being ready due to our remodeling. Empire was great until install day and then it was downhill after that. The installation crew came out to do the work and told us that the floor had too much moisture to complete the project. I purchased two dehumidifiers to dry things out. They also said they couldn't do my steps as the salesman said they could without me building the steps out to accommodate the product, again another expense on me. The installation crew came back two weeks later to install the whole house and was able to complete the work in one long day. They tried to do the steps again but the product still don't work.

After diligently trying several ways of installation they still can't complete the steps to my satisfaction. The material leaves a trip point in the step. Talked to customer service and was told too bad. Never dealt with such incompetence in customer service. Told installer to wait on steps until a resolution was decided by myself and customer service. Talked to another rep three days later and she was more rude than the first one and too bad. "We will refund the cost of the steps but don't show the customer what the break down of costs." I guess I'm supposed to believe that they are going to be honest about it after all the lies.

Also said that they would give me a hundred dollar credit for the extra work I had to perform. That's nice, four hundred dollars in material and a day's worth of work to fix the inadequacy of their product and lying salesman. The installation crew was great but customer service and salesman are lying cheats. I would recommend highly to run from this company!!!

I had a contract to have 2 rooms of carpet installed on 11-27-2019. The day of I never recorded a call saying who would be coming, when they would be coming, etc... I called the service center and was told it would be from 8am - 6pm, and I should receive a call from installer by 10:30am. They called while I was on hold, only to come back and say installer didn’t answer. I was the. Put on hold another 20 minutes only to have a totally different operator answer and go through the whole thing again! Still no answer from installer. Tracked to a supervisor who put in a ticket to have installer call me immediately, which didn’t happen.

The installer never called and never showed up!! I called again and talked to another supervisor who was putting in a ticket to have a manager call me this morning, that (as I had figured out by now) didn’t happen either. I called again and finally after waiting 45 minutes got the cancellation department that told me they would refund my down payment. Ummm what about the other $1,321 I paid up front? After finally getting that cleared up I was told my money would be refunded in 7-10 business days. I am not holding my breath that will happen either, so far nothing I have been told has been true!!! I will give it time then I guess I will need to go to a much bigger step.

It was the third floor, and I had never put carpeting up there. I've been here for 25 years, and I wanted to make it nice. I’m thinking about selling the house. I wanted to make it nice at a decent cost. My new carpet seems to be durable. The kids do well with it, so it seems to meet my need.

The guy that came over, Brandon, took time and effort to look at his book and find the wood that I wanted. He had a good selection. We talked about it, and he was here for a while. He was very polite and wasn’t pushy. He wasn’t like, ”I have to go to another house,” or anything like that. I felt comfortable with him. But the people in the warehouse made a mistake and I was sent the wrong material. So we were not able to do the job when it was scheduled. Everything was planned for that day, and I was excited about having it done. And then, it didn’t happen.

The crew showed it to me and said, “So, this is what you ordered?” I said, “No, that’s not what I ordered.” The crew was good. Empire was able to take care of the issue within a week. The second time another crew came, and they were excellent, too. I know Empire contracts people, so I got lucky. Both crews were very polite and very understanding. They said, “Oh, man. No, no. Okay, that’s fine. They made a mistake." They weren’t pushy, like “Are you sure you don’t want it?” And Brandon was very polite and he apologized. But the thing was that I wasn’t in a situation where it would’ve been a really crisis. I would use them again. They did a beautiful job.

Empire installed sub-flooring and part of floor on Friday 11/8 and finished Saturday 11/9. I inspected the floor and found two planks damaged, poor work around a doorway, a cracked sill between 2 rooms, incomplete 1/4 round around kitchen island, poor cuts around bottom of stairs and defects in product. I took pictures and called and they sent someone to inspect by Tuesday. Byram and partner inspected and sent pictures to manager. Inspector told me installers would be back on Thursday. I then received a call on Wednesday from Gerry and was asked to give them some time to speak with manufacturer. I agreed. I had to keep calling over and over.

I spoke with Jessica on 11/22 and she told me all approvals are in, they were waiting for materials. They w/c/b to arrange date for re-installation. I heard nothing and called back 11/25. Did not receive a callback. I called 11/26 at 10:00 and left message. I did not get a callback. I called at 11:50 and left another message for a callback. Lauren called back and said there was no defect in the material. I said what about the broken planks and the mis-cut planks. She said I could get another installation at a discount. I don't even know what that meant. I said that there was no final coat over some of the planks. I said I was dissatisfied and for someone to call me back. She said I would hear nothing different from anyone else. They had all talked about it. It's one day before Thanksgiving and my furniture is sitting out on my deck, including my kitchen appliances. I'm still waiting for a callback. My experience has been more than disappointing.

On 11/20/19 Received email confirming installation for 11/21/19. On 11/21/19 no one had called by noon so we called 800# only to be told that they hadn't had the product in stock so had rescheduled us to 11/23/19. No one had called or communicated this to us.

Talked to someone at 800# who transferred me to supposed warehouse person where I talked to a gal who said they had received the product. I expressed concern over the fact that we had supposedly purchased "surplus material" from another project. She promised someone would call me later in the day to confirm they had the product. No one ever did. I tried to call back to follow up at 5:00 p.m. and could not locate the warehouse person. 800# representative said they left a message for person showing on their notes. Communicated frustration to our salesperson via text. Decided two days wait was not that bad. Stupid me still trusted they would get it right.

Next day on 11/22/19 at 6:00 a.m. received email confirming installation for 11/23/19. At 10:15 a.m. received text message from salesperson inquiring if we'd received email confirming installation and I informed them yes we had. He then proceeded to inform us that that was by mistake that they did not have the product and would not have it until mid-December.

Our house has been packed up, TV's uninstalled, bathroom cabinets cleaned out and packed up. This installation was to be done before Thanksgiving when we have family come into town. I spent over 12 thousand dollars cash to get work done by amateurs. They have been out here several times, but still have tile popping up all over the floors. Baseboards installed with wood and plastic put together. Missing grouting and moldings along wall areas. The grout is so thin it is cracking in several areas. They have offered to fix these issues. But with the stress and time spent like 5 days now, I am ready to give up.

Last time they came at 3 in the afternoon on a Saturday after chasing them down for two days, they were here till 7PM and still so much was not done properly. We just asked them to go. They will take your money up front make you sign the job is complete {which it wasn’t} so you are pretty much at there mercy to try and get the project done correctly. They hire contractors just like Home Depot, they are not actually employed by empire. They are just sub contractors off the street. I myself loved my sales associate, she tried her best but her help could only go so far. My opinion don’t use this company for tile. My carpet was put in with absolutely no problems. That’s why they got a one star.

I will try to make it A short story. In July I had my dining room and hallway done with hardwood floors with empire. I also had my ceramic tile in my kitchen replaced also by Empire at the same time. The gentleman and his wife came to do the job. They were in such a rush to get everything done that they did one of the worst jobs ever seen. They also punctured a hole in my heating pipe. At this point he tells me that he can repair the pipe himself. So he supposedly repairs the pipe that’s leaking. They finish the job and I go to inspect. The corner of my kitchen where my stove and a cabinet where is sunk in and not sturdy when you walk on it. When you step in the corner you sink into the ground. So I asked the tech why it’s like this and he says there’s nothing he can do about it because there was concrete in that area. At that point I knew it was a total lie. I just wanted them out of my house at this point.

So now A month and a half passes by and we had a few cold nights. My heat turns on in the middle of the night because of the temperature outside. I get a call from my tenant saying that there’s water leaking into her bedroom. I have to call my plumber and he comes to repair the pipe that the Empire tech never fixed properly. My plumber said he put a little Band-Aid. I called Empire to tell them and they send someone out a few days later. I showed them the pipe and the large area of the floor that if you step on you sink into. The new tech tells me that the whole floor needs to be redone. So now I have new techs doing the floor and my house is flipped upside down once again dust and dirt. Nonetheless they said it would be a one day job and it is now turned into a three day job which I’ve had to take three days off of work. Never mind the fact of me not having a kitchen for three days and I have two children and a husband.

I called customer service at Empire to see what they could do for me for all of the inconvenience I’ve been through these past few months with their company and they offer me $75. This whole experience has been awful and a joke. I would never recommend Empire to anyone. I will be sharing my story with as many people as I can. And unfortunately you cannot give zero stars.

The gentleman told me I would have to have everything moved out of my rooms before they began. All the appliances etc. He then presents his estimate of $20,000. I asked if that was going to be adjusted at the %50 discount advertised. He stated that was with the discount. What!!! $40,000 for 1000 feet of laminate. He must have thought I was a fool.

He definitely tried to get over on me because I was a recent widow single woman. Be careful for some bait and switch that adds significant dollars to the cost of your job. I had a sales rep out to quote a floor job to replace carpets in 4 rooms. I had some competitive quotes and let the rep know I would go with them if he beat them. Well he did, by not including all the materials the installers would need to do the job. When I called the sales rep on installation day, he says "Oh... Sorry about that. It's going to cost $1300 more.". That put them well above the other companies we worked with for quotes. Told him I would have to cancel and he assured me I would get a full refund of my deposit.

When I called customer service and let them know I needed to cancel and they had to transfer me to their Cancellation Department - ??? They have a whole department to process cancellation. After some back and forth with a very rude cancellation rep they let me know that they would be keeping $350 from my deposit. He did offer to lower the extra costs a bit but I'm not sure I would trust these guys based on how this went. Can't recommend them at all when they make a mistake in materials after an in home visit and want me to pay for their mistakes. Buyer beware...

Everything’s fine with our purchase from Empire Today. We got laminate installed in the downstairs, the whole living room, and dining room of our home. The installation guys were great. So, everything went well. It took them eight hours to install, if not less and that timeframe was nice. The quality and cost were good. I also did Empire two years ago when I got the carpet.

My experience with Empire Today was very bad. They have very bad customer service. The sales lady come to my home on 8/28/2019. And I signed the papers to have 2 bathrooms and my hall floor done. I told the sales lady I had soft spots in both my bathrooms and showed it to her. She told me they could fix it. She set it up for the floors to be put in on 9/9/2019. I set at home all day waiting on them they never called or showed up. So called and got a new date for it to be done. They come out and I was told they couldn't fix the soft spots because they don't do that kind of work. After the sales lady told me they would do it. So I called a company out to fix the floor. Called Empire Today back for appointment to come back out and put my flooring in. Come back out, said more of the subfloor needed to be replaced. Called the company to come back and fix subflooring. They come the same day and fixed it.

Empire Today told me they would be back out here that Thursday to put the new flooring in. No call or show again. So called them back, set up new appointment for the next Thursday. They called me Wednesday night and said that if it was raining Thursday they couldn't put the flooring down. So I ask when will you be able to come do the floors. They told me Friday, no call, no show Friday. Finally got my floors put in 11/2/2019. They was supposed to haul the old floor away. They left half of it in my yard and we had to clean it up, took 6 construction bags and we had to haul it off. So after a month and a half I got my floors done.

After 4 no show and a lot of time on the phone with them. Had the worst experience with this company. They sent people out to put the flooring in that couldn't understand what you was saying to them. The first day they did one bathroom and the hall. Said they was coming back the next day to finish the other bathroom, didn't show up the next day until 1:00 or 1:30 in afternoon to finish it. Took the toilet out and set it in my closet in my room and got my carpet wet and never said anything about it. I was going to have them do the other rooms in my house but I will not be using them again. I am so disappointed in the service I got from Empire Today. And it does no good to call the corporate office. They give me the feeling they don't care about you once they get your business.

Made an appointment for a tech to come and give me an in home estimate. The tech claims that he came to my house and no one was home. My Garage at the door on my house is wide open filled with tools, paint. I have 6 men working upstairs painting and drilling while playing music. I stood downstairs to listen for my doorbell... (which never rang btw).

I really really needed this quote today as I need to make a decision with another contractor and carpet installer. I get that we were the last stop of the night as he claimed to have showed up at 4:30pm and they stop at 5pm. But my guess he didn’t even attempt to a hold of someone in the house because maybe he just wanted to go home? I called customer service and the tech told them that no one was home... How is that even possible? I changed all my plans to turn in applications for water and trash to be here waiting at the house. I drove 1hr 30mins in traffic to make sure I was here... They tried to give me a $50 discount but I’m sure the job I would have hired them for would have been well over $5,000. I’ll pass on the estimate based off this experience.

We've used Empire Today before and we knew that going with them would be the quickest. So, we got a carpet from them which we had installed in one room. Their rep was great. He came to the house and had everything for us to choose from. However, they had a new product where you could get more service, like a warranty type thing, and we were never able to get that, which was fine. But it was a new product that they were selling, and we just could never make it happen. It was all good, but after he left, we were wondering if they had any deals going on for a second room or anything like that. And we just never followed up on it.

When I was looking around for companies to purchase from, Empire came out and was helpful. The salesman explained everything well. Everybody uses Mohawk flooring and they all had $100-200 cheaper than what everybody else was saying. They installed a mocha color board upstairs in the master bedroom and the two front rooms.

There was one issue that I had -- the underlayment of the floor was supposed to be a quiet step, and what was installed was not. I had talked to somebody, but at this point the floor has been installed. It’s kind of a big deal because I was supposed to get one thing and then I got another. But at the same time, I didn't know what it was. Nevertheless, the installation team got it done in a day. It took them five hours to do it. There were two spots where I thought they could have done a little bit better. But, other than that, as a whole, it came out pretty good. They vacuumed, but walking through it, after they left, it was still dusty. I thought they would come over with a microfiber cloth or duster to get it dealt with, but it was fine.

Compared to other companies Empire Today's quality was better for nearly the same price. I also liked the whole customer service approach where they brought the samples to my house and I could see it in the lighting and the colors within my house, versus tiny snippets from other places. They also weren’t gonna nickel-and-dime me for moving my furniture, which other places do.

We had carpet installed in the bedrooms and vinyl in a bathroom and laundry room. The installers were very professional. There was a lot of furniture to be moved, but they worked very quickly and hard. They never even took a break to eat. They took less than a day, which was longer than I thought but for the amount of work that they had to do, it was quick. I was very pleased. The flooring has gone beyond our expectations and we love it. The vinyl is nice and it’s not slippery like what we had before. The carpet is incredibly soft and squishy. The pad is awesome compared to what we had. It’s night and day. It gave our house such an upgraded appearance and changed the rooms.

I purchased my kitchen floors for Empire in Nov 16. Everything looked great. Earlier this year I noticed that my molding, as white molding does, beginning to look bad, even after wiping down with a wet cloth (dish detergent only). Then they started peeling, BAD! Then the wood tone moldings began to as well. The veneer was actually lifting away from the molding. Had a painter come to check for repainting the white, however they can't paint as the molding is actually a bendable cardboard product, not study at all. In some cases glue has been wiped on the baseboard and molding. Some even began to come detached from the wall. I've also discovered in less visible places, that there were repairs made with adhesive, that I wasn't even aware of. Call customer service and after 2 weeks of playing phone tag they advise not under material or other warranty. Awful!

The guys that did the laminate was there one day, and the ones that did the carpet came the second day. When the guy came to do the estimate for me, I thought that he said that it was gonna be 200 and something a month for the 12 months free interest. However, I got the letter because it was going through Wells Fargo last month, and it was for 100 and something. Other than that, everything's fine.

We had laminate floors from Empire Today put in four of our rooms. We looked locally and they could not get it done in time and we needed it done very soon so we could get my husband home from the rehab center to put a lift on the floor. That was very important to us and nobody around here could do the job for what Empire could do it for. They were able to come within 10 days. It has been four weeks now since my husband has been home so we had Empire in before that. I like that the lift worked on the new flooring and that it's a new decorating item in my house too. We were thinking about doing it in only one room. Now, we ended up doing four rooms and I love it.

I was here during installation and my sister came to keep me company. Three guys worked hard all day. They got here by 10:00 and were done by 7:00. I couldn't believe it because we thought it would take a couple more days. They did have to come back though and put in the right color. We were very satisfied with Empire Today. And my sister who was here certainly got in mind to get her flooring done with Empire too.

We wanted to find something a little less costly so we shopped around to compare prices and Empire ended up matching the price that we found.

I thought the installers would be coming in with nice shirts and name tags, letting me know who they were. But when they came, they didn’t have any logos letting me know who they were. It was just a white van with carpet in it, which was a little disappointing. But the guys were nice and did a good job. The carpet looks and feels great. I also chose it because of the padding that they had. They had some new eight-ounce padding that I haven’t seen before and I liked it and the way it makes me feel a little extra cushion. I’m definitely satisfied.

In April 2019 we had over $7,000 worth of laminate water resistant flooring put in our house with 10 year lifetime warranty and 1 year install warranty. About 2 months ago, we had a horrible rain storm. The water came in when we would open the door. The caulking they used to join the flooring to the door jam was spotty, not covering it all and water went under the flooring causing it to warp and buckle.

We contacted Empire who and after 4 phone calls (the minute I said warranty they would automatically say it wasn't covered) they decided it was worth it to come and look at - they previously were telling us that they don't cover flood; there was not a flood nor did we ever say we flooded. The install manager came out and said "the caulking was cosmetic and not water proof". Now, call me wrong, but believe that is the purpose of silicone caulk because we've have done home improvement jobs on our own and know how and when to use caulk. Spend your money and time elsewhere because Empire will not stand behind what they sell or say to you.

Empire Today installed vinyl floors in our three bedrooms. I found Empire to be more than 50% over the cost of the other two that I looked into. I really didn’t think it was going to be as expensive as it was. After I received the receipt that the rep gave me at the end, I compared that to other brands and I felt that it was way over what I really needed to pay for it. It was like three quarters more, but I've used Empire before.

I like the color of the new flooring. I don’t love the flooring though. It’s supposed to be like a floating floor. I had a floating floor prior to that. I had the laminate that I got from Empire as well, and it’s still in very good shape. As a matter of fact, I had a refrigerator delivered early of this year and they scratched it terribly, but it had a 25-year warranty, and I’m about halfway through that. And I’ve taken good care of it because the instructions were to make sure you didn’t let sand and dirt accumulate on it. You sweep it every day. And I would use the laminate polish on it at least every three months. So, it held up very nicely. I’m very pleased. But with this new flooring, I don’t know if they're going to last as long as those.

And as far as the workers were concerned, they were very professional. They got here on time. They took a very short lunch break and they completed the job faster than I thought they would and they were very pleasant. I was pleased with them. It was just that I thought the product itself was inferior to what I had seen at a more reasonable price. So, I was a little upset about that. And I didn’t understand about the quality of the material as it was explained to me because I didn’t see a lot of samples.

They came to our house and brought the sample where we could see it in our home rather than going from store to store and then trying to get somebody to install it. We got from them Accolade engineered wood and I like it very much. It has a good quality and it looks wonderful, and they did a nice job installing it in a family room.

The salesperson was fine but we were not happy with the customer service when we called them. There was a glitch. It was a switch on the day that it was supposed to be installed, and as it turned it out, it was the day that we were having a painting done in that room. My husband explained to customer service that date was not the date we agreed to and was not in the contract. The customer service person was certainly not very customer-friendly. At some point, it pissed us off so much, we said we would just cancel the order. He said if we canceled the order, we couldn't get a refund. My husband checked the contract and we still had time to cancel it.

I’ve dealt with Empire before and used them several times. They gave a very high price and when I asked them to call their supervisor, they came down to a more reasonable price. They lowered the price several $100. I think they ought to come up with their best offer right off the bat. I didn’t mind negotiating, but if I didn’t know that that was what they do, then I would be paying a lot of money and they would be overpriced. I don’t think they need to do that. I don’t think that’s the best business practice. But despite that and the customer service, I have been very satisfied over the years with their products and the installation. And we're having them come in on Wednesday to put some more flooring in.

We had carpet installed in three bedrooms and engineered hardwood floor in the living room and a hallway. For the most part, the installation went well. They didn't bring enough materials, carpet or hardwood, to finish in one day, so they had to come out a second day, which was inconvenient 'cause we didn't plan for that. But they got it done and the work was done pretty well. Overall, the carpet's great. The hardwood floor however, hasn't settled. When we had put some carpeting in our home a couple of years ago, we looked at a couple of different people and got some different estimates. We went with Empire. I also stayed with them when I chose carpeting for two bedrooms in a rental home that we own. The carpeting needed to be replaced and that was done beautifully.

A representative was assigned to us and we were given an appointment window, as a lot of companies do like from 8:00 to 10:00 or 10:00 to 12:00, and also a date for him to come. He contacted us early in the morning at that date to confirm the appointment window then met us at the property. First of all, he asked us what we were considering and what price range we wanted. He had noted that it was a rental home, so he didn’t really try to convince us that we needed huge, expensive carpeting for those two bedrooms. He said it was in a really reasonable price range. He showed us several alternatives, discussed the carpeting and the padding with us, the turnaround time, and the possible delivery times. After we had wrapped up, we had chosen the one that we liked.

We were having the house painted at the time, so it was easy to match the carpet with the color of the new walls because they were being made new simultaneously. We chose the carpeting and he checked on a couple of possible installation dates. He found one a couple of days later in that same week then set our schedule and their schedule. The only thing that I was curious about was paying the deposit with a check, which got photographed and sent over the internet, then handed back to me and voided. It was a procedure I had not ever used before. It was a little crazy to do it over the computer that way rather than just handing the check and have them turn it in. But it seems that the payment went through very smoothly, and the same method was used two days later when we had the carpeting installed.

We had a window of what time that the gentleman would be coming to install the carpet, and they arrived in the first portion of that window in the day. But I don’t think they called ahead of time. They just appeared without making us wait all day long for them. They were in and out of the home in a very quick and efficient manner. They measured, organized, cut the carpet, and put it down. They did a beautiful job and they finished within about two hours for the two bedrooms. We’re very happy with the product.

In both instances that we’ve talked with the people who have come out to make the sale, they’ve been really interested in what we wanted to do and how we perceived redoing the house. They didn’t try to convince me to carpet my entire house since I told them I only wanted to carpet the upstairs and leave the wood floors in the downstairs. They didn’t try to twist my arm to change my mind. They just sat right down and got to business with what I wanted. In our recent one, they didn’t say they could carpet the bathroom or they could do the adjacent room and add to this. They just said, “This is what you want, and these are our products.” They gave the price ranges and made recommendations for our rental because a certain type of fabric may hold up better than something else in the line. I thought that they very much took into consideration the audience they’re selling things to and didn’t try to oversell.

Well it started with $50 a room deal which is no deal, 7200$ for 1030sqft but I needed it done quick. Then the guys show up at 10am & do no prep work at all! All I was told is I would have to move a couple things, thinking they would at least put up plastic barriers or plastic over my furniture! Nope!! They cut my floor every 6 inches with a saw before taking a machine a digging them up, so now there is about a half inch thick coat of dust on everything in my house! Inside my pantry, on my food, every single room they had to do. Then while ripping up the trim the destroy my freshly painted walls & trim by digging their claws in it. My walls, that were freshly painted, 4&5 ft up are all scratched up! I paid 8k$ for my paint & about 3k$ was destroyed!

I called my salesman after they left & told him. He gave me customer service number & said someone would call me but never did. I commented on a Facebook post & they delete it so now I see why with 14k likes on their page they have no comments on their posts. It’s because they are all negative & they delete them!! Do Not use Empire!!!

I had laminate flooring installed less than a year ago. The floor is "peaking" in my living room. When the inspector came out you could tell he was "looking" for something to blame other than their installation. After using his moisture reader and it coming back normal, he tried to blame my two pound dog for peeing in the area. This was after the salesman (who is condescending and disrespectful to woman- Note when I told the inspector that he agreed and said it is his culture and it is acceptable) told me the flooring was waterproof. So the flooring I spent 7K on with a lifetime warranty is not under warranty and there is nothing they can do. PLEASE READ reviews. We replaced some carpet with a laminate wood floor from Empire Today. Our experience with them was perfect up until we had a problem. After we had a problem, it was the most horrible service I’ve ever had and I would never recommend them to anybody. The installer did a less than acceptable job on the thresholds in the room. I didn’t see it when it got done because it was all taped over where they glued on the thresholds. When I called them to come back and fix it, they told me that the way they did it was the right way.

I wasn’t born yesterday, so I know a threshold is supposed to be level, but they never fixed them. Finally, they told me, because the legal got involved, they can’t fix them. So, they handed me a couple pieces of threshold and said, “You can fix them if you want.” The other problem I had with them was they sent an installer out that didn’t even speak English so I couldn’t communicate with him. That’s a huge no-no in my book. If you’re in America, you should speak English.

They explained to me where they came from and I gave them that but I explained to them that they should see their travel times so they don’t have the customers waiting. I just bought a home and the flooring had to come out. I wanted the colors of the wall and picked the carpet for its color. It’s a pretty color and makes the house look nice and fresh. I like that it’s brand new and knowing that there are no allergens that can settle into the carpet. When one of my employees purchased a home and wanted some hardwood, I said that she might wanna try Empire Today out. They have very little downtimes.

I had carpet put in the living room and in the den, and then I also had the kitchen done with the some stone flooring. When I had the floor done in the kitchen, they broke the coil of the refrigerator's water line for the ice maker. That happened when they put the refrigerator back and it was on a Friday. So, in order to have any water, the water line had to be turned on back and forth. But every time we turn it on, it was leaking. There was water all over the floor and we had to have that fixed which costed $85. I called them to see what was gonna be done about it, and that I was out of the money to have it repaired. I’ve spoken to somebody about that but nobody got back to me. They’ve been calling back and then I called them back and nobody answered the phone, then they called me and I was not home. I called and called and called, and we were always playing tag team.

Also, when I got the carpet put in, I discussed with Julio that the darker carpet would go into the den, which is where the most traffic was, and the lighter part was to be put in the living room. He told me that it was vice versa and that the way it was in is the way it was. I told him that I was sure that I ordered the darker color for the den and the lighter color for the living room. I was at work that time so when they brought the work order in, they were saying on the work order that that’s the way it was. Those were the colors that was supposed to be as they are. So, both carpets were already put in now and I’m not going through the problems of taking it up.

The installation went well, but when they put the commode back, they didn't fasten it exactly right. When you sat on it and got up, it hit the wall. I was aggravated that it took over two weeks to get someone to respond. Every time we called, they said that they'd get someone there on such and such day. Then we’d wait and no one would show up. Then, they'd call and say they'd call us, but they didn't. I had to keep hammering away at them until I finally got them to respond. The guy came Saturday morning and he was able to fix it. Empire Today's process seemed more streamlined. Initially, we had gone to a couple of other stores like Home Depot and Lowe's. Those times, someone had to come out and measure our area and someone else called us with quotes. We needed the job done in a timely fashion and we didn't have time to guess then the installation could be. While we were hesitant to go with Empire 'cause of the price, when their person comes out to measure and I am able to find something I like, I am ready to set an installation date right away. That seemed a lot more efficient so we went with them for the job we needed done in May and again in September.

Empire matched the price that we were gonna get with other companies. Both times we had them do work, the timing was to our liking. We had to get a lot of stuff done both during the first time we had them in our home and the second time at our rental property. The second time we used them though, I didn't feel like the options were as many as far as the colors available are concerned. Still, it worked out.

The situation: I was cleaning my kitchen counters with 'method. ALL-PURPOSE' plant based, non-toxic cleaner. I knocked the bottle off of the counter, and it subsequently fell and the top plastic portion broke - dispersing anywhere between 1/2-1 full cup of cleaning solution onto the floor. Using the rag in my hand, I dried up the liquid - in what could not have been more than 1 minute, all liquid was removed from flooring. The result: The (what I now understand as cheap and not well crafted) flooring is now buckling and peeling surrounding the joints of the planks. Empire's response: "We can't do anything because you can't prove the liquid was on the floor for fewer than 30 minutes."

I want to clarify that I have never written a negative review in the past - for anything. I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt. I am furious with this company, and feel as though I've been taken advantage of. I've only had the flooring for 6 months. I paid over $5,000 for our small home's installation because it was supposed to be an investment. I wish that I would have known that this product was not really covered under the warranty. The warranty states that the limitations of the "Water Resistant" warranty does NOT apply to damage caused by events BEYOND everyday household spills, so that should mean everyday household spills should be covered. In my estimate, the spilling of a plant-based, non-toxic cleaning product and following swift clean-up is the very definition of a household spill.

We chose a carpet and ordered. Chose a install date. Empire confirmed via email and automated message. Took a day off from work. Got a call morning of install that the padding was out of stock and Empire had to reschedule the install. I had one question for a company who only installs flooring (their core business is carpet)... How do you not have padding in stock for an order placed two weeks ago when you only offer one padding choice for Berber carpeting, REALLY? As we ALL know that's NOT possible.

I could go on and on because it all went downhill from there on the phone with a so-called "Manager" which if that is a sampling of Empire's managers they are on the other side of the success-mountain. The end result I cancelled my order, not worth the aggravation and totally on principal and my experience with the manager, they could honestly care less that I cancelled the order. A company with this attitude and practices will never stand behind their products, so I am OUT. Took the time to share this info. so others do not get sucked in with their offers, especially their TV offers. MOVE ON and choose a local business instead which is what I did. Or go with Lowe's or Home Depot, at least they still stand behind the product and installers.

I’ve had Empire carpet come out thrice in 10 years. I’ve had carpeting and laminate, called LVP, put in. The pricing was very good. I had them put flooring in the kitchen, dining, laundry room, and then I called back and had them come do the living room. My husband is out of town a lot, and I asked for a female salesman, and they sent her out. I told her that when we schedule the first room to be done, that I needed to make sure that there was somebody there because I don’t like strangers coming into my house with me being alone. They sent out this wonderful crew. And my son was there. I loved the flooring from Empire Today so much that I wanted all the rooms to match.

I called the salesman back but she was out of town. They then sent me another saleslady. She came out. We measured, scheduled, and we had to reschedule twice. I got everything scheduled for the Friday ‘cause that was my one day off. I had everything set, Jaime was gonna be home, and they called me Thursday afternoon to reschedule. That week, we had Imelda, the storm, and that one was nobody’s fault. But I kinda yelled at George on the phone saying if they could not get the installers out here the third time, the deal was gonna be off. I remember telling them distinctly who the installers I wanted, and they said that was not a problem and that they knew I was comfortable working with the first installer.

The phone calls started to get a little less and less. They used to call me all the time letting me know my schedule was coming. There was lack of communication and they sent out somebody totally different. They did not call me and tell me that they were not sending out the first installer that I had. But it all went well because my husband showed up about an hour and a half after they showed up. I spent $3,600 and it was over. The second guys did a great job. They were in and out in about five hours. The room was less than 300 square feet, so it was pretty easy to do and they did a really good job. I’d still have Empire Today come out. But there’d be specific rules because I’m alone a lot, and I don’t like strange people that I don’t know in my house. Things are just bad nowadays and I don’t trust anybody.

We were on a budget and heard that Empire Today was very good-priced. We live in Flemington and we have to always use the Flemington Department Store. They seem to be on the higher side and we didn't want to have to overspend if we didn't have to, and same with Home Depot, so we just called Empire. The sales representative that came out was awesome. We did the engineered hardwood floors in our dining room, and then we did carpeting. We picked two different colors. One downstairs in our living room, and then, we did upstairs with two bedrooms in the hallway. I am very pleased with the padding and the quality of the carpet. I also love the hardwood floors in the dining room. I thought it's gonna look choppy, but it actually looks very nice.

The guys that installed the flooring was unbelievable. They did it so fast. I was asking for the guy's advice, like which way to lay the hardwood floor, and he said that he knew what he was doing. He was perfect. They came around 10:30 in the morning. There was a woman who called and asked how was everything going, which I was very impressed with, 'cause the installers came on Friday, and they could come back and finish it on Saturday. We weren’t doing anything as we cleared our calendars Friday night so they were up, staying and doing the work. They didn't even take a break. My husband literally had to go out and get them something to eat ‘cause they didn't even eat. I’ve never seen anything like it.

They finished at 10:30 at night. We felt bad ‘cause for them to come back, the warehouse was kinda far. We asked them if they were sure and they said that they were fine with it. And around 9 o’clock, they did the floor the last down here in the dining room, so all the carpeting was done. Then it looked like a warzone during the day when they were working ‘cause they were throwing the carpet out the window, and the carpet’s on the lawn. With its removal, ‘cause that’s quite a chore and a mess, they cleaned it up. Everything was put in bags and just so neat when they left. They did an awesome job. Everybody saw the finished product now and I’ve been telling them about Empire.

Updated on 11/16/2019: A reply was sent that wrongly states my issues are resolved. That is not the truth. Empire refuses to acknowledges all concerns, including personal property damage. I wish I could say resolution was achieved... not so.

Updated on 10/26/2019: My issues remain unresolved regarding reimbursements for products & labor paid for but never received. Additionally, reimbursements for extra time off work and property damage go unacknowledged by Empire. Despite proper documentation in the agreement, both installation teams, (carpet & LVP flooring), arrived at the site inadequately prepared to efficiently do their jobs. Products that were documented and paid for, failed proper delivery. The carpet installers were great at improvising. However, the LVP installers had to make multiple return visits to install many trim pieces and make corrections to the layout of the planks.

They suffered problems understanding and applying the concept of a random layout. Consequently, identical LVP planks were installed adjacent to each other. Despite several return visits, the faulty layout persists. Unable to say why both installation teams arrived inadequately prepared to do their jobs. I suspect bad communication. Whatever the cause, THEIR faulty business practices caused me to burn extra work days to accommodate THEIR inefficiencies. I don't believe upstanding businesses encumber their customers because of their short comings... but that is what we have.

I question why they don't consider the loss of my time as having value, along with the loss of the property damage suffered when their work van backed over my garden planter. Not a word. My issues remain UNRESOLVED. "No further accommodations will be provided," according to Empire's senior customer service manager. No advancement towards an equitable resolution with Empire Today.

Original Review: Had Empire install new LVP and carpeting throughout entire house. Demanded full payment upfront for everything, labor and products, before starting any work. We complied. They failed to bring out the trim pieces for the carpeting and LVP. Failed to bring out underlayment Quiet Walk for LVP. Paid for floor leveling agent and labor that wasn't needed. Installers did a faulty installation of the LVP resulting in identical panels being installed adjacent to each other. Had to return several times to take up product and reinstall. Backed their work van into a garden pot on my deck. Offered to reimburse but only if I signed a general release form. Still waiting!!!

At the time I went with Empire Today, they were having a deal wherein they were giving 50% off the price or 50% off in other rooms. I had them install carpet in the home I was going to sell. The turnaround time was quick because it was based on my schedule. However, though I knew the date that their installers were gonna do the job, I didn't know the time. They didn't give the time until the morning or the afternoon of the installation. That was kinda disappointing for me.

On the morning of my installation, I received a time block when their installers would come between this time and that time. So, I had to be waiting. I had to stay home until they called me 'cause they said they wouldn't do the job unless somebody over 18 was at the place. I also misunderstood what I actually purchased. I thought it was a product that doesn't mark very easily. If I were living there, I would’ve been a little bit bummed about it because I wanted the one that doesn’t mark too much. But it looks nice because it’s a nice actual carpet.

We had set the installation day. They arrived early which was fine. The minute they walked in they immediately asked to pay upfront (unheard of!). We had paid an advance to salesman and he told us that when the job is done, we will receive a bill and we can decide then whether to pay it all or monthly. Well... we paid it all to customer service person over the phone because installers did not want to install the carpet. Five minutes later they told us that they don’t have enough of carpet! That is after we made a full payment! I couldn’t believe it!

So, we called to Empire Customer service again and they said that they can put in request for this issue and someone will get back to us in 24 hours! Unbelievable! I have to live in this mess for 24 hours. Not to mention that the next day was not a working day for them, so 24 hours will lead into 48 and so on... Meanwhile the installers said they will go outside to their van to talk to a supervisor, so they can sort things out with the carpet shortage. 5 minutes later or less when I looked outside, they were gone!!! I have not heard from them since that time! So, weekend we were in mess and no one has contacted us. The supervisor called on Monday night (three days later) to ask if they install the carpet. Ha-ha! What do you think? The most horrible experience in my life! Poor business management. Terrible business! Do not do business with them unless you want to deal with this crap.

Updated on 01/04/2020: I submitted my initial review and now cannot enter any further comments as Empire has not replied. The comment exchanged is locked. Empire finally decided that my entire first installation has to be removed. They will also be removing the original vinyl that they were supposed to remove during the first install. At first the install coordinator said it would be best to wait until after the the holidays because they would be extremely busy and he wanted his "A team" to come out. He also said they would be very busy because the specials they were running.

I was ok with that until I was called by several representatives to schedule the job ASAP. I agreed and was given a date. SURPRISE, they did not show or call. I got a call from the installation coordinator. He left a message on my phone, with no explanation, and told me to call him. I felt this to be very inappropriate. Admittedly, I have not returned that call because, up until now, I have been VERY calm and understanding. Quite frankly, I needed time cool down.

The other issues: scratched wooden floors, exposed tack strip from carpet installation, broken back door, broken molding, etc, have not been addressed (see first post). I know that I overpaid for their services. I thought the "convenience" of the process may be worth it, but here we are months later with no resolution, poor workmanship, many hours of lost work time waiting on workers.... I am so hesitant to have them back in my house, or even to schedule with them AGAIN only to be left waiting and missing work time.

Original Review: Luxury vinyl tile installation.

    1. Paid for removal of sheet vinyl from dining room, kitchen, back foyer, laundry and bathroom. The installer removed a small section from the dining room then stopped. He laid the rest over the vinyl. We were offered about 360 dollars when I called (during install) to complain.
    2. Installed an improper transition strip. When asked to fix it, he pieced together a strip. Later that night the small patched piece came loose.
    3. Was going to tile around a pedestal sink. The pedestal simply slides out with no plumbing. I had to remove (slide it out).
    4. Stripped screws on my back door threshold. Door would not close. (Turned out they installed the 1/4 round improperly preventing the door from closing.)
    5. Swept a LARGE pile of glued wood scraps into my floor vent and put vent cover back on.
    6. Left large gaps (could see bare drywall) when replacing molding.
    7. Knocked on my neighbor's door to borrow a roller and extension for the glue. Returned (actually not, because my neighbor had to come take it back) covered in glue.
    8. Broke laundry door track.
    9. Scratched hardwood floor while moving furniture.
    10. Reinstalled cracked floor molding.
    11. Installed chipped tile.
    12. One tile was installed much higher, so it was covered with a curtain.

    13. Left gap in two places where sub floor can be seen.

An "inspector" was sent out. He turned out to be another installer. Set up for 4 PM, but showed at 7:30PM.

    1. Replaced 1 tile where floor was showing.

    2. Examined the back door that would not close. Further rounded out threshold adjustment screws. Slammed the door shut and forcibly jammed his 5 in 1 tool into the door jam and bent the bolt! When I finally was able to disassemble the handle and open the door. I was the one who discovered the 1/4 round was improperly installed. After I fixed it the door closed perfectly. Unfortunately without a handle or lock. Oddly he had deadbolt set with him. However, he made me install it!

    3. Fixed the molding that was revealing drywall.

    4. Put 2 brads in the loose scrap of transition strip.

Had to leave because it was late and he lived 2 hours away. LVT tiles are starting to separate already. We also had 3 bedrooms and a hall carpeted. My wife poked a whole in her foot on a tack strip. Don't know what can be done, but this carpet definitely does not feel as thick or plush as the samples we stepped on. We did confirm the product before install.

He included in the carpet, the labor and the removing of the furniture. I made a mistake. $5,000 was a little bit too high. I got involved in the conversation and didn't compare prices with anybody. As far as the labor is concerned though, they did a very good job and the installer was very pleasant.

They were very professional and did everything nicely and neatly. They came in, did the job, and cleaned up behind themselves. I got carpeting installed in four rooms and hardwood floors installed in the hallway. However, the thresholds are coming loose. There is some movement in them and I also noticed that the glue has seeped out. First I’ll say the only reason I’m giving a star is bc the installers that came out were great. I’ll even say the process as a whole was pretty easy. But my satisfaction stops there for two reasons. Our salesman came to the house, asked us what we were wanting to spend, then showed us 5 boards with 4 carpet sample each. When we asked what other colors do they have in a certain pile, we were told “just the colors that are on the board”. Huh?!!! When we asked about the carpet pad, “we only have two styles, the basic or an 8 lb with a moisture backing. But it doesn’t feel any different than the basic in terms of cushion.” What!??! You are supposed to be the EMPIRE of flooring! Yet you only have 20 carpet samples and only carry 2 carpet pads?! This, when the big box stores give 100’s of styles, colors and multiple sizes of carpet pads. Unreal!

I told the Salesman multiple times we were wanting to replace the carpet we had with something comparable. The carpet we had was a very nice middle of the road carpet. We were looking for a lighter color of carpet in more of a grey. Problem is he only had two samples that were around what we were wanting. However he assured us this was comparable to what we had. WRONG! After the install my wife and I’s feet were getting pierced on the tack strip bc the carpet is sooo thin! And now feels like we are walking on hardwood floors with the lack of cushion and quality! Nowhere near comparable to what we originally had.

You sell a product fixed to a board that only allows customers to feel the texture of the carpet and not the actual thickness and durability of the product. Charge them big money, then say, "Welp sorry, now that’s it’s installed it’s done?" I’m not trying to get anything free here. But, if I spend my hard earned money, the price I pay Should reflect the quality of a product. We spent $2000 on a carpet that realistically would be $600. First and last time customer.

Caveat Emptor. Fair Warning about "Empire Today" Flooring Company's honoring their Warranty - They DON'T. If your laminate floor is still under warranty, (installed less than a year ago) and there are a few boards that are "Peaking" (that's a technical term - see diagram below) due to too much pressure against the wall due to not enough of a gap for expansion when it was installed) and you ask for it to be fixed under said warranty. Do Not hold your breath. They will insist it is "moisture damage" that they will be happy to replace the entire floor on your dime.

RUN... do not walk... to Another More Reputable floor company who will actually honor their warranty. He continues Talking in circles exaggerating his foreign accent to try to throw me off in the conversation. All I want is for him to recommend that the floor be fixed under the warranty. (And he and his coworker are back-and-forth to each other in a Slavic language so you don't know what they're saying)

I wish I had bet someone, Anyone, that he would notice the new refrigerator and blame the floor damage on the old refrigerator - I would have won that bet in 5 minutes of him walking in the door.??? His only job today was to put his "moisture meter" on the floor to register whatever it registers to prove that "there must have been water damage", and sell me a new floor. He put said "moisture meter" against his arm first to make sure it was working... WHAT!?!?

This is the same guy who installed said floor. God forbid he admit that he (or his workers) made a mistake and didn't leave enough of a gap for expansion) and that that's what caused the problem in the first place. Demeaning my intelligence with his nonsense talk - Argumentative and a real comedian. Looks like the joke's on me.???

Laminate Floor Peaking Causes: Laminate floor peaking is commonly caused by the failure to allow for sufficient expansion space. If sufficient space has not been left the floor becomes locked in or pinched. As the floor expands it has no place to go other than up. Moldings at doorways or quarter round or base at walls, nailed through the laminate. Fix by removing and replacing the molding or quarter round. Place nails directly into the wall or cabinets, not the flooring. If necessary, cut back the laminate to give more expansion space. A wider molding may be required. T-molding not used between rooms or areas. Correct by cutting the laminate flooring between the rooms or areas and adding the proper T-molding.

I have been researching replacing the carpet in two of my rooms and hallways for over a year. After a lot of deliberation I decided to call Empire to get a quote. I was pleased with the salesman, Alex, as he was very informative and didn’t seem to give the usual “sales pitch”. We decided to go with LVP given we are on a concrete slab, have a lot of activity in the time, and we have three dogs. I was excited to hear LVP I’d scratch resistant and would hold up for years to come.

Day of installation is when everything turned south. The installation team showed up without a phone call to let me know what time they were coming. They couldn’t speak or understand English. It was extremely hard to communicate with the team. I would ask a question or make a statement and all I received was head nods and an occasional yes or ok. I paid for the team to move my furniture out of the rooms. They only moved it from one side to the other however. And then never even moved it back to its original position before they left! What a waste of money. I saw the invoice in their stack of papers and it was $994 for moving furniture that they didn’t even move!

The young gentleman quickly tried to get me to inspect their work upon leaving but couldn’t even explain what they did or what I should be looking for. I noticed loose transition pieces between rooms and was told through translation in text to “give the glue time to dry”. The transitions weren’t even locked into place for the glue to make contact with both surfaces. Shortly after the team left, reminder they never even moved my furniture back into position, I noticed some scratches on the floor in one of the rooms. I was told this LVP was scratch resistant, however it obviously is not. I also noticed in my hallway a small piece of LVP scratched the bottom of my foot. Upon inspection I realized it was cut incorrectly and the installers used brown putty to try and fill in their cut mistake.

I immediately called Empire hotline the next morning and filed a complaint. I was told someone would call me Monday morning since that department is off on Saturdays. I didn’t receive a call that Monday at all, so I called again on Tuesday to see if my complaint would be handled. I was transferred to another person and scheduled an appt for inspection that Thursday. I was also guaranteed I would get a call between 7-9am with an estimated arrival time of the inspector. I never got that call Thursday morning, so I called the help center again to get a timeframe.

I was informed someone would be at my home between 2-4pm. Well, no one ever showed up or called to let me know they wouldn’t be there. So I called the help center two more times, asking for a manager the second time. Of course it is now after hours and no one can be of assistance locally and I would have to wait for the local office to call me Friday morning. I wasted a whole day waiting for someone to show up and they never did. I am here again waiting for a call to schedule someone to come inspect the floor.

This project is far from cheap, but between the poor installation experience and poor customer service I feel I am being robbed. And it seems no one from the company wants to right this wrong. Not only will I not be a repeat customer, it I will definitely tell my friends, family, and coworkers what a lousy experience I have had and the lack of concern from the company.

I purchased LVP flooring for my kitchen. Contractor arrived at scheduled time but was unable to complete the job because they did not have enough of the product. Unfortunately, I had to pay the contractor before they would do the install. After the incomplete install I made several calls to the Empire Today call center to find out when the job would be completed. I had moved furniture out of the kitchen and into the dining room for the install and need to be able to move it back into the kitchen. I have now made four calls to the call center. The last one, the call center put me through to a local office. I was told that the product was being delivered to them in two days and that they would be able to install it then. When I angrily expressed how disappointed I was with the process the associate I was speaking with named Craig at the Cincinnati office told me to "have a nice day" and hung up. I still do not know if they are coming in two days or not.

My experience with Empire Today is that they are great when they are trying to get the sale but after point of sale they do not care about you. I really liked the sales rep who sold me the product but since then, customer service is not in their standard operating procedure manual apparently. Also, when the installer approached me with the problem he said that the measurements before sale had been wrong so they were short on the flooring product. The first "manager" I spoke with about the problem put me on hold while he contacted the installer. When he came back on the line he said that one of the boxes of flooring had been short on product. So, I have been given 2 different reasons for the problem.

Anyway, the end result so far has been an absolute failure to provide adequate customer service. Being hung up on while trying to resolve the issue is not acceptable. Buyer beware of any contractor demanding full payment before the work is done. I wish that I had picked a different company than Empire Today but it is too late now. Never again.

These are the facts in my experience dealing with Empire Today. We are returning customers. This is our second large purchase with them. We purchased Vinyl Floors and Carpet in bedrooms, we had two problems with each. Vinyl Floors they left a gap all around the peninsula and counters, after almost 3+ months of calling and pleading with them they finally sent someone out to install the 1/4" round trim, which matched my cupboards.

During this time they were fully aware I was also waiting for one of the bedroom carpet to be repaired or replaced because when they installed it there were lumps in different places total of 4 and there was a weird stain that came with the carpet that none of the over the counter products could remove. They assigned a Manager Brett **, we spoke on phone once. He promised both issues would be resolved.

I have called him 2-3 times a week left messages, I've even spoken to different departments, explained what I need and still no one has called, emailed, wrote letter anything. This is getting tiresome and once they receive all your money you become non-existent if there is a problem. They need better procedures and someone that everyone is accountable to because I get the feeling this is why it keeps falling thru the cracks over and over. I am beyond disgusted and will not be purchasing from them again. I judge companies on how they handle problems with me and others and they are horrible at making sure customers are satisfied.

My floor had been replaced by someone else one time and it was a lousy job. I thought I’d try Empire and paid them $3,000, but they didn’t use the luan plywood for the flooring. All they did was glue down the tile. I wasn’t told that I could never ever mop my floor because if I get it wet, then the tiles would come up. I get on my hands and knees and wipe where it’s dirty. This week, I finally got the refund that was due. But I'm dissatisfied with Empire Today.

He was able to tell me what Empire has in stock, and as soon as we told him what we wanted, he booked it and we were ready to go. Also, the installers were prompt as to what time they were supposed to be there. I had carpets installed in the whole house and it was a very wonderful experience.

We had carpeting installed by Empire Today in our den and the family room. Purchasing went fine. Several years ago, we got laminate in the kitchen and the entry hall. So everything except the living, dining room and the upstairs is brand new. We used Empire. And it seemed as though the prices were gonna be about the same. We like choosing the products in our home and actually seeing it with our other things. And we thought that it worked out okay. The installation was fine. There was a chip in our laminate and they don't make the laminate anymore. So the helpline talked to us and we found some putty kind of stuff to put in it and it looks fine again.

When they first showed up with the flooring, we thought it was not what we ordered because the salesman's samples seemed thicker. They assured it was what was ordered then they had to tear out the hallway because it was not smooth - there were many raised edges. Now there are many more raised edges and areas of delaminating - where the very thin laminate has separated. Call from Customer Service was terrible - they wanted $75 to come out and inspect or I could send pictures. Very rude - already blaming us for the problems saying it was our cleaning products. When I asked about their "lifetime warranty" they said that was from the manufacturer and they was file the claim for us. Would NOT recommend them.

We had carpet installed in our family room and master bedroom. I was replacing frieze and I really liked the carpet from Empire Today. I had the frieze for almost 20 years, so I really wanted a good carpet that I knew would last again. I had gone into a store, but it was kind of overwhelming. There was so much to choose from. I had replaced the carpet in the master bedroom once before already, and I was not happy with the choice. So, I wasn’t trusting and I didn’t wanna make the same mistake again.

I really liked the guy who came out. It was good that he came here because he could see what we already had, and that we wanted something good and something that would last. So, he understood that completely and that was a very positive thing for me. But he was late. When I made the appointment, they gave me a two-hour window to which he would be here. And 15 minutes before the end of that two-hour window, I got a telephone call from somebody that told me that he would be here within 30 minutes. So, 30 minutes went by, and he still was not here yet, and I had chosen the window 4:00 to 6:00. It was right around the dinner hour. So then, when he wasn’t here by 6:30, I decided that I was going to make dinner.

He was 45 minutes past the ending of my window time. And when he came to the door, I told him that he was late and that I just put dinner on the table and he was gonna have to come back in 30 minutes. And he honored that. When he came back, it was later than expected. I felt like he was really hyper and rushing. He was talking very fast. So, I felt like it was a little bit rushed.

The installation guys were absolutely amazing. They worked so hard and they were in and out here in two hours. They understood what we wanted and how we wanted it handled. We did pack everything up, but they did move the heaviest furniture and moved it right back in. They were very professional and they knew what they were doing. It went very smoothly. We love the carpet. The color is very similar to what we already had. I like the feel and look of it. It’s so professional-looking. It’s perfect. Once it was done, I probably should’ve done this five years ago. I was very, very pleased.

They removed their shoes as they went in and out of the door. But one of them would walk in stockings instead of putting his shoes back on and then walk right into the house with the stockings. So it really served no purpose of taking off the shoes. But other than that, they were good.

My name is Ms. **, I was scheduled for installation Service on September 25, 2019. When the installers arrived, they came with the wrong color Laminated floors. The Technicians were very professional, knowledgeable and polite. One of them did cut my carpet in my Dining room to see what type of floor was under the carpet. The Technicians contacted his supervisor to inform them that the color they brought to my home wasn't the correct one. The Technicians waited until someone called me to inform me that nothing could be done, that my Sales Rep would have to come back out with to show me the colors again. Before the floor Technicians left my home, I was informed that my order didn't show my stairs to my Family room and Dining room as part of the installment.

The Sales Rep came back out and dropped off the colors for me to look over September 26, 2019. He brought the wrong color book. He came back on September 27, 2019 with the right color book. Since then I have been in contact with the sales rep Walter on two occasions September 30, and October 2, 2019. He informed me that he's has been in contact with someone regarding the correction on my order. Today is October 6, 2019. I have not heard from the salesperson regarding my new installment date. My credit was ran by Empire and approved by Wells Fargo for Financing. After reading the reviews, it's very alarming what these customers has experience. I don't feel comfortable doing business with this company. However someone needs to come out and repair my carpet in my Dining room.

There were two parts to my agreement with Empire Today. I had hardwood installed in the hallway, that went beautifully, and then they were supposed to come and put carpeting in two bedrooms. The first thing that went wrong was that when I signed the contract, they asked me if I wanted to finance it through them with 0%, and I said, “Sure.” And the next day, before they started work, I got an email from Wells Fargo saying that they are opening a credit card for me through Empire. I called the salesperson and I told him he never told me it was a credit card. I didn’t want it. I told him to cancel that and I would pay cash for this job. But he never did it.

Then, they came to do the carpeting on a Monday morning with the wrong carpet, a lesser grade. The guy walked in and he hands me like a 1”x 3” little slip of a carpet and he said to confirm if that was my carpet. I said it looked like the right color and I asked if it matched the contract and he said it did. But the salesman had left his sample on my front porch. Before the installers brought in the carpet, I looked at that and I told the installer the sample he showed me was not the same quality carpet. He knew that and he was gonna install it anyway. I told him to leave. You can’t install what I didn’t buy. I called, texted, and emailed the sales rep but I never got a response so I called customer service and canceled the rest.

When I called the customer service to tell them to cancel it, they just don’t handle it. They let you tell the whole story and then they tell you that they’ve got to assign a case number to it and then you have to wait. They told me within two days somebody will call me back and when somebody did call me back, they said to me, “Well, did you actually go out to the truck to see what he had on the truck?” Why would I do that? They have an installer that knows what’s on his truck. He sees the contract and he hands me a sample, and they’re trying to say, ‘Oh, well, maybe he really had the right thing and he showed me the wrong sample.’ That is very screwed up.

So, I ended up having wood floor put in in those two rooms and I did it with another company. I would never recommend Empire. They did work for me in another house and when the salesman was here, initially, I told him that I have one board on that floor that’s a bad cut that needs to be taken out and redone because there’s like a triangular piece that broke off. He said he could get that taken care of but I didn’t hear a word about that. I’m not even gonna pursue it.

When I finally got a credit card and a bill from Wells Fargo, I called them up and paid it off, the whole thing at once, instead of the payments. Then, I canceled the card and the rep said he would notify the credit bureau. I love the floor part and I’m sure that if the product had been delivered correctly, it may have been fine. And I think the installers are very good. My installer for the wood floor was terrific and he did a great job installing. I’m very satisfied with the wood floors so far. This was all communication on a corporate and sales level.

It's not major gapping but I can see the difference. It doesn't have a clear flow to it. But I wouldn't want the installation team to have to come back out and redo it 'cause I know that's a long process. Other than that, the flooring is completely great quality. Update on 10/13/2019: I received a response from Empire Today that someone would be in touch with me regarding my complaint about the misleading warranty on our carpet. However, it has been about a week and we have not heard from anybody. So much for really caring about customer service and satisfaction. The only thing I can think of why it is taking so long is that there must be a lot more complaints ahead of mine to be handled first. That is a very scary thought.

Original: Was lied to right to my face about the warranty on my carpet. Carpet was installed poorly and started pulling away from the floor. Also, there is a path from door of bedroom to the bathroom. I called Empire to find out the problems weren't covered even though we bought carpet with a 30 year warranty. Problem has to be from the floor up, whatever that means. So, besides costing a lot more money there are no benefits for buying this carpet. They were happy to send out someone at a $290.00 charge to correct their mistake though. We bought this carpet being told we would never have to worry about it because everything was covered. How can a person look you in the eye and lie to you like the salesman did. Guess that is the training provided from this dishonest company.

We were very excited to schedule our carpet installation with the Empire Today salesman who seemed knowledgeable and experienced. We scheduled the installation 2 weeks out on a Saturday because my husband works from home and would have to dismantle his home office in order to get the carpet installed. We tried to get an estimate of what time they would be here on Saturday the Friday before but were told we would have to wait until the next morning. Saturday morning we were told we were the 2nd of 2 houses scheduled for the day and that the installers would be there anytime between 8:00am and 6:00pm.

We called after noon and customer service couldn't find us on their schedule at all. After about 15 minutes she found us and could only tell us that they would be there between "now and 6:00pm". At 4:30 we received a call from the installers saying they were picking up our carpet and were on the way. Two men showed up at our house with the carpet, came into the house and informed us that it was a 4 man job so they would not be able to do it because there were no other installers available. They took pictures of our house and left which really creeped me out! My husband called customer service who finally got us a manager on the phone who was unwilling to refund our deposit (by this time we had boxed up our entire downstairs and had been waiting all day for nothing and asked for a refund).

The only day they could do the installation was on a weekday so my husband had to cancel business meetings in order to be there as he did not want me in the house alone with strangers. The installers were a man and his wife who completed the job by themselves in about 6 hours. They did a great job but the fact that we were told it would take 4 men and then a man and a WOMAN did it by themselves just made us all the more angry. We repeatedly tried to call the salesman during this entire process and he completely ghosted us, did not return a single call.

We are getting ready to re-carpet our entire upstairs and will NOT be using Empire again nor will I refer any of my friends and neighbors. The icing on the cake was they sent us a review to fill out, which we did. They called and left a message for us to call them back and tell them about our experience. We called and no one was available to take our call and they never called back.

So, they had to do concrete treatment and cement treatment to level the floor and dry it out. That was no problem though. They were able to do two rooms on one day, and the other two on the next, and there was no hindrance in our sleeping arrangements. They were able to go in the rooms and move all the furniture out and move it back in. It was like the installation never happened. Now, no part of our house is carpeted and we are enjoying our floors. I'm so pleased.

He got us in early for installation, so that was even better. So, I had no problem with him at all. The installation team was good and they did it all in one day, but I am not sure that was the smartest thing to do. They were there from 8:00 in the morning until 8:30 at night.

We had laminate floors installed throughout the house, except for the bedrooms. We have a great room, dining, living room, hallways and stairs. We already have oak cabinets and trim and everything, so we went with oak floors to match what was already there. The floor looks good but there are some problems with the quarter round and a couple of stairs have some issues, which I didn't see because I wasn't home. My husband didn't pay attention so, the quarter round was the wrong color. It’s harvest oak floors and the quarter round was very dark so, it doesn't match at all. I have been trying for two months to get someone out there to fix it. Also, there are three stairs where there are gaps that need to be addressed. I've had two appointments for the customer service to come out and take care of all the problems and we were blown off both times. There were no phone calls and they didn't show up.

I tried for a week leaving messages with customer service at the Chicago office. No one would return my calls and finally, on the last call I made, I talked to a supervisor and she contacted corporate. The next day, the Chicago customer service called me and now, we have another appointment on the 19th for them to come out. I've asked them to give me the first appointment of the day because the last two were the second appointments and then, they didn't have time. The customer service out of the Chicago office was not good at all. I wouldn't recommend Empire because of that because there's no follow through and Mandy, the customer service person, never answers her extension phone and doesn't return calls. It has been very frustrating.

Empire quickly responded to my complaint. Much quicker than my requests for help and information during the actual transaction unfortunately. I will not be able to use them in the future as a sub-contractor based mainly on their policy of expecting full payment upfront BEFORE starting a project. As a contractor myself, I don't ask my clients to pay in full before renovating their house! 1 star up to 3. Empire needs to change policy and train their sales staff better.

    Original Review: Oct. 2, 2019

I sub-contracted Empire to install carpet and hard flooring at a commercial office location. It started well due mainly to the excellent attention of my first sales rep, Yashar **. Unfortunately Yashar left the company for unknown reasons. I then spent well over a week trying in vain to get Empire to contact me back much less assign a new sales rep. The ONLY reason I held on at that point was because I was under a strict deadline set by my client to get the job completed. Yashar had already given me the quotes and timeframes for scheduling. All I needed was someone from Empire to follow up! I was given a sales rep who was and remained hard to get in touch with. He also did not know the products he was selling very well which I found out on installation day.

There were many very aggravating issues I dealt with in my dealings with this company but the most surprising and completely unprofessional moment came again on installation day. I was told by the ONE installer (1 installer for 17 offices) that I had to pay in full that morning BEFORE job could start!! I am a contractor myself, I never have asked for full payment upfront before a job even begins! This was after paying a 3000 down payment just so they would schedule the job at which point I was NOT informed that the balance would be due the first day on job! I am shocked they do business this way. Paying almost 12k that day out of my own pockets in order to get that job moving and completed caused a domino effect on my Business bank account which I am still paying for.

If I could give Empire 0/10 stars I would. This company is ridiculous and there is ZERO accountability for their management. I had Empire come out and install carpeting in most of my house. It cost me thousands of dollars and I was already on the fence about giving them a shot after reading all of their horrible reviews. They send two guys out to complete the job and they end up putting the wrong carpets in the wrong rooms, despite the fact that they had an invoice sheet telling them what carpeting goes where.

To make matters worse, they ripped up the old carpeting in the master bedroom and didn’t even lay the new carpet down. After I advised the worker the of the wrong carpeting, said they would be back three days later to correct the issue and that when they came back they would clean the house. Not only did they leave my house a mess by NOT cleaning any of the carpet fibers, but there were scuff marks on my walls and they tried to get me to sign a paper stating I was satisfied with their installation.

I immediately called Empire and was advised that managers do no work on Friday evenings and won’t come back until Monday morning. In the meantime I was forced to sleep on my floor, with my house a mess and unable to move into my own home due to the fact that would have to come back to my house and rip up the wrong carpets. I tried several times to speak to a district manager about this issue to get some of my money back and was told to wait until Monday.

I was finally able to speak to a market Manager by the name of Melissa who promised me the issue would be fixed and she would issue me a partial refund. I have left her several messages and have been unable to get ahold of her for the past two weeks. I called the 800 number and requested to speak to a district manager again and would told the issue would be forwarded back to a market manager. There is no accountability for their management and I am more than displeased with their service to say the least. I would rather hire high school trade school students than to use Empire ever again. What a joke of a company..

I would never recommend Empire Flooring to anyone. Worst experience ever. Do not waste your hard earned money on this flooring. They will be glad to schedule you and take your money, But they will not stand behind their warranty and if you have issues they do not want to return your calls. You have to repeatedly call and call them. They are the rudest people you have to deal with. We saved and saved to have floor put in our home. We had issues right off the bat. They finally came after many missed appts and tried to fix the problem but still did not work and my flooring is coming up all over my house and they give me one excuse after another and they do not want to fix it.

Now I am out thousands of dollars on flooring that is horrible and no one will help you. We went with this company thinking we would get better quality flooring from a reputable company. Boy was we wrong. We installed flooring on our own in a spare room. Flooring was from Home Depot. That room still looks wonderful. It has been 5 yrs since it was put down better quality of floor, My flooring from Empire is a year old and looks Horrible. Like I said I would never recommend this company. It's a shame they take people's money that you save for so long and are so excited to get something to make your home look better just to get ripped off.

Empire Today should live up to their advertisement on the TV. I didn't get to see the samples from whatever the special was then, too. But, purchasing from them was okay. We had carpet installed, and we had vinyl flooring as well. We used them because of their advertisement. They always looked appetizing, and so I thought I'd try it. I thought the cost was okay. I thought they could've done a better job on the way that they installed the vinyl around the toilet. It doesn't look like one. It's like it's spliced. Also, in one of the corners, it's gonna always look like it's dirty and that's because of the clear caulking. They didn't clean it out well before they put the caulking down, so the caulking is covering up what dirt was there.

Also, the guys did a tremendously good job in installing the carpet. They talked to me whenever they were putting the carpet down. They explained to me what they were going to do, how they were going to do it, and they asked me if I had any questions. That was a big plus. I have recommended them. Having a carpet installed is always scary, but Empire Today would do a good job. Do it.

BUYER BEWARE!!!! I had to give them at least 1 star. They installed hardwood flooring that wasn't level, had "pockets" of squishy all over the floor. There were multiple areas where the flooring looked like it was going downhill compared to the baseboard. They cracked baseboard and other wall areas. When we complained they send the exact same installers to critic their own work. They then sent the same installers back to pull up the floor and put it back using glue. There are still very un-level areas. Their fix to the issues of the floor not being level with the baseboard and cracked baseboard was tons of caulk. And now the floor is covered with stickiness from the glue which we are unable to get off. Our issues are still pending....

Initially, I wanted wood but because I was on a slab, they would have to put a subfloor down which would have made it too high. So, I went with the vinyl. I like the color and durability of the carpet I got and it has been wonderful so far.

I had Empire do the carpet on my steps and the upstairs hallway. I then wanted to rip the carpet up out of the living room. I had Empire do the flooring in the living room and the spare room down here. But I wasn't very happy with the installer and with his boss. From carpet to flooring, there’s a gap between the foyer and the living room. I wanted that wood put down to kinda make it so it wasn't too much of a drop so my husband wouldn’t stumble. The installer started doing it and I was at the hospital at that time. I had a heart attack in July and my husband had one two weeks later. He also has kidney failure, Parkinson’s, and dementia. But I ordered everything before I had the heart attack and before my husband did too.

My daughter and son-in-law were here. The installer was told to stop because the luan wasn’t put down and he called his boss. His boss said to go ahead and do it anyway. My son-in-law had to kick the installer out. It wasn’t the installer’s fault so much as it was his boss. I felt sorry for the kid. They came back to take it out and put that in. But when the installer opened up the box, something was scratched. A different guy then came back and kinda scraped that off where it was cut. He colored that in which was okay because I needed everything done now. I just wasn't very happy. I have more floors and more carpet that I’m going to do but not real soon.

I would like to go back with Empire. The installer of the carpet was absolutely wonderful and I can’t praise him enough. But as for the wood, I’m having an issue with that because I wanted it done and done right. It seemed like the young installer should have had help with him because they were told that I had a couple of cabinets. Two guys could have done it. If my son-in-law wasn't here, the installer couldn’t have done the floors. I emptied out the cabinets of all the glass and everything. But he couldn’t have moved those by himself. That could be an issue whenever they know ahead of time they are gonna have to be moved. It took several weeks to get the work finished.

I had to bring my husband home with everything in the dining area because it’s the door we come in and had to make a path to get him in. I thought for sure that everything would have been done because I didn't wanna cancel. I wanted it done for the reason that I wanted to bring my husband home and be able to put a bed in there, but it didn't happen. But as far as personality, the installer was good. I gave him a hug and tried to smooth things over. But his boss needs retraining. The installer just seemed scared to death of him. I’d love to meet this boss because I’d take him down a notch. All issues aside, I have and would recommend Empire.

We had Empire give us estimates on new flooring for a house we remodeled. We did carpet on the stairs and the upper level, solid hardwood on the entire first floor, and LVT in two small entryways. We love all three options we chose. Our salesperson (Joel) was great and our installers were great and did a lovely job and the price was fair.

What made us select Empire was the flexibility with scheduling. We gutted and remodeled all of the living space in this house and had so many different contractors (electricians, plumbers, multiple carpenters, tilers, etc.) working at different times on different projects that we didn't know when we would be able to get each room done. We were able to call Empire and schedule installation for certain areas on short notice (a few days). That helped us tremendously because we needed the kitchen floor installed before the cabinets went in, but didn't want the rest of the hardwood installed until much later and they were fine with that.

Our only complaints are that we wish there had been a better selection of flooring. We had some specific ideas of what we wanted and, unfortunately, were limited in the choices. Also, we had some installers out who said they couldn't do it because our floor wasn't level. They left and another team came out (the ones who previously did the kitchen) and they did it and it came out beautifully. No big deal - it took an extra day and we didn't care. But, I think if you have one team start a project, it would be good to have them do the rest of it because they will be familiar with the situation. Those two minor complaints don't warrant knocking a star off the rating, so we stand by our 5-star review. We're happy we went with Empire Today.

I was very indecisive and he spent a lot of time with me. I had Empire install laminate floors and carpet. The flooring was in the upstairs master suite and the entire downstairs, except for the two bedrooms, kitchen and bath. It was the main living area and the hallway. I like the color and it is easy to care for. The installation team came in and gave me a little contract review, but I don’t think English was their first language. They were a little hard to understand and at one point, we had a question over how they were gonna do the moldings so, he needed to call the office and he spoke in Spanish to the girl. Another thing, they were supposed to put linoleum at the front door, but there was something that they didn’t have, so I had to cancel that altogether. The carpet is nice though. The quality is good. They did a good job. The installer just didn’t put that part down between the bedroom into the hallway. And there’s one going from the kitchen to the hallway, and then from the place on the other hallway into the kitchen, and then from the living room into the kitchen. I wasn’t home then but my son was there. The issue with them really was having to wait. Even the second time to put the linoleum down, I even had to wait the next day. So, scheduling was bad.

The installers left and we decided to give Empire one more chance. They moved the install to the next Saturday. A week later, but in the afternoon, which you would think maybe the priority of a customer who was wrongfully mistreated would mean something but nope they'll come Saturday when they get around to it, and they just didn't show up on the next install date. The other people offered the same brands, so it became a price war. The Empire sales representative who came out to our house was professional and knowledgeable, except for around the stairs. We have a stair opening downstairs that’s along the wall, and I told him what I wanted, but he wasn’t very knowledgeable of that part. He needed to do a little bit of homework but, overall, he was good. Then, the installation went well. The only issue that I had was with the material when it came in. They didn’t send enough stair nose for around the top of the stairs. They also didn’t send the toe-strip or the quarter round originally, which they then had sent and made it up. So, it’s all good. The guys did a great job and were very professional. All in all, I got my money’s worth.

The sales contract stated that 2 toilets were to be removed and replaced. Anyone who has ever moved a toilet knows you have to replace a wax ring when re-installing, anyone except our contractor from Empire.

Even after we provided the materials he managed to break all bolts that hold toilet down, then denied doing it. Then to make matters worse there was mastic all over the toilets, door frames and sinks. He over grouted some areas and didn't grout others. Then did not clear any over grout and used my dish towels to wipe some off. He went through our garage, took supplies without asking, used his wet saw inside the house. Cannot and will not refer anyone to Empire Today. Empire was supposed to do the floors in my house on Tuesday Sept. 24, 2019. A call was made at noon saying that they could not come. The reason given was that Empire did not have sufficient workers to send out to do the job. The Empire representative who sold us the product, was contacted and she, after talking to someone, called back and said that someone would be at our home to do the job at 9:00 a.m. 9/25/2019.

At 7:23 a.m. on 9/25/2019 a representative from Empire, with a strong Eastern European accent, called to say that someone will come between 4-6 p.m. on 9/25/2019. A request was made for them to come earlier because I did not want strangers in my home at night. The Empire representative told me that that was the only time available. At 6:09 on 9/25/2019 the Empire worker called to say that he will not be coming but would come on 9/26/2019. The salesperson, with whom we contracted the job was called about the issue. She told us that she was working on it. We never heard back from her.

All I could say is that Empire Today was deceptive in acquiring our business by telling us that the floors could be done the next day. Empire should have been honest in informing us, at the time that the product was introduced to us, that they could not tell us when they would get the job done because they did not have enough enough personnel to complete the job within the timeframe they promised. To make matters worse we received two directives via emails on how to prep the home for the installers. As a result of following those instructions, my home has been in disarray all week. With the circumstances as they are, we cannot, in good faith refer anyone to your company.

Set up an in home estimate for my only day off that week and they cancelled last minute, wasting my whole day off. Finally set up a rain date and the estimator was wonderful. Flash forward to installation day and the nightmares begin again. Again my only day off all week. They were due between 11 and 1. 1:45 still not here, no call, nothing. We call and are told it'll be 45 more minutes. They don't roll in until 3. No explanation no communication. Had dinner reservations that had to be canceled. Another wasted day sitting waiting on Empire. The manager refused to even accommodate us in any way for our entire wasted day. Never using them again and warning everyone I know that this company doesn't value your time or you as a customer at all.

I had a fantastic representative, George **! Wonderful experience overall and very pleased with the carpet, delivery, and installation time. George showed me a payment plan that was perfect for my budget which allowed me to get a high quality carpet with affordable payments. I plan on contacting George again in the future when I’m ready to purchase tile for my kitchen and bathrooms.

I called Empire to get a quote to 2-3 rooms of carpet, Time was set. Waited approx 3 hrs. for them to show up. THEY never did! Called to find out why, they could not give a reason. The message would be passed on. When they returned my call they still did not have a reason. They would have someone contact me. Three weeks later after we found someone else to do the job (and was completed) we were contacted for an appointment.

The salesman was a young guy, and he was polite. We're trying to do an ivf procedure in January to have a baby. Also we're eventually building a house. My grandmother gave us a house to live in for rent free, until we have our baby, and our forever home built. The floors in it are gross and disgusting. Well we wanted to change the floors for the cheapest price possible. It's a tiny house..1266 sqft. We just wanted to replace the carpet everywhere and the vinyl in the two bathrooms and tiny kitchen. The price came out to $5,500. Like are you serious??? Plus there was suppose to be a 75% off!!! He told me that he showed me the carpet and vinyl that was 75% off.

We've used Empire two other times in the past. Not even two years ago, we had a house that was 2150 sqft, we had laminate floors put in for the entire downstairs, and new carpet upstairs. The cost was $9,500. We were beyond happy. The offer we got yesterday on the 1266 sqft house is a joke. We will be calling other companies and taking our business elsewhere. Just a huge waste of time for everyone. New carpet and vinyl in a 1266 sqft house is $5,500! FALSE advertising for 75% off. Don't listen to it. That carpet would have to be $20,000 carpet for that price to make sense. It's OK, we've used Empire twice, and we were gonna use them for the house we're building, not anymore. You just lost our business on our two houses, and my mother's house. I told her to not even call this company.
