We had tiles installed at our other home and we had a good experience with Empire Today. At this home, we had a waterproof vinyl and carpet installed. The carpet seems very durable. I was real happy with what it looked like. It looks very nice. The tile looks good as well. They did a good job installing it. The installers for both the carpet and the tile were great. They were very nice and polite. But we financed the flooring and that’s my only thing. I wish it would’ve been a little bit clearer when we would receive the billing. But otherwise, it was all good.

We called to complain about a line going down the middle of our carpet, which would be the seam. They sent a team out to evaluate and fix the seam. The installers pull the carpet up and say it's saturated with dog pee and is unfix-able. Empire customer service calls us to give us this update after the installers leave and they said our seam was "riddled" with dog pee and I quote "that is what happens when you don't clean up after your dog." May I mentioned we purchased "pup protection" and were told that things of this nature would be covered, apparently not. We took pictures and video to prove that there was in fact no supposed dog pee on our seam line. They continued to argue with us until eventually they stated they would send out a manager to review what the installers said in the report. Not only is this completely unacceptable but the installers broke my couch and I have as of this date no resolution to my carpet or my couch.
Katelyn, we regret to hear about your experience, and assure you that we take your concerns seriously. We'll be further reviewing your concerns and will be in touch with you soon.

Empire's sales guy was great. He brought samples that I asked for and we were done in half an hour. The guys who installed Berber rug on my stairs helped me move some furniture. I had just moved in, so there was a lot going on while they were there. They were very nice and went out of their way to not be in the way. They did excellent work. I would definitely use Empire again.

Empire Today's pricing was good and they were convenient enough to get out when I needed them to come. But the first group of people who came were horrible. They were three good-sized men and when they came, they refused to move my dresser. I had to reschedule and it was a Saturday, and so you couldn’t get in touch with anybody there. I didn’t realize everything had to be out of the room. I thought they could move it from one side to the other side and they could. The second two men came and did just that. They were awesome. We had carpet installed on the stairs and in all the bedrooms. However, it's buckling. We need somebody to pull it or fix it.

This experience has been very unfortunate for us the consumer. When the rep came out to look at the carpet he told me he would install the carpet as is but then the carpet was put over the flooring beneath the carpet which led to a bad installation- a high area at at the entry to the room and bathroom, well over the past few months the carpet has become frayed and tattered at those point of entry. Empire will not fix or stand behind the job. They did offer to "fix it for $1000" that was the solution basically telling us to go pound sand or pay more money. I thought a bigger company would want to do the right thing. They should have warned us before the sale and install that the carpet would be broken down so fast and the high area at the entry would lead to aesthetic, material break down and fraying etc... I would not use this company for any flooring needs.
Thank you!

The salesman that came to our house was a scumbag. He must of seen us coming. We had carpet installed in two floors of the house and it is great! We got laminate flooring in the whole downstairs. The salesman said these floors were waterproof, scratch resistant etc. I had the floors installed in September and they’re peeling, lifting and bubbling all over the house. Where every seam fits together with the next piece of laminate looks like they’re lifting. So they had the installers come out and they told us they wouldn’t give us our money back because they would take it out of their checks.
With that being said I’ve been waiting since before Xmas to hear from the “manufacturer” because it’s a “manufacturing” issue. We were quoted $6700 but Lowe’s quoted us $4400. So they matched and these floors and if I knew this I wouldn’t of bought them. They aren’t even worth half! I was told by a friend not to go with them and I should of listened. Floors only being 4 months old and shouldn’t look like this. I’ve bought floors from Lowe’s and lumber liquidators (which were recalled) and never had this issue in the slightest bit. So with that being said I’m still trying to get my money back. I will call my lawyer if I don’t hear back from them by this Monday because you can’t lie to people and sell them this trash!
Shane, thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We've locate your appointment and will be in touch with you soon.

Empire installed a floor in my home. After three years it now has to be replaced, my expectations was that I would not have to replace the floor for at least ten years. The salesman promised me the floor was water proof. When the inspector came out to assess the floor he measured the moisture at 37%. When overlooking my warranty to see what is covered it only provided me with what it is NOT covered. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!
Michelle, we're disappointed to hear that your floor is not meeting your expectations. We sincerely apologize for the experience, and will be in touch with you soon to learn more.

When the Empire Today lady came out to show me the carpet, I was amazed at the number of samples she had with her. Through no fault of her own, she made a second trip out here because I was dragging my feet and I really appreciated that. I was considering some carpet from Lowe’s and Empire Today's price was very competitive. What closed the deal for me was that they had the material on hand within a day or two and the installation was taken care of within about three days. Whereas Lowe’s was gonna take about three weeks to get the carpet and another two to three weeks to get it scheduled for install. The installers who came were professional and in and out very quickly. And they cleaned up when they left. I had a living room carpet installed and I'm satisfied with it. It's what I'm looking for in carpeting. I'm very pleased with the overall experience.

Empire Today was referred over to me by a friend. Everything was so easy and convenient from scheduling the appointment to the availability of as to when I want someone to come out and do my estimate, and for the sales guy to come up and meet with me. The rep who came was great, very knowledgeable and informative of all the products that they sell. He wasn’t pushy, which I liked. It was more based on my budget and what fits it. So, I appreciate that. We had a bedroom that was installed with the carpet and I'm very happy from point A to point B. I was very satisfied with everything.

TL:DR: DO NOT WORK WITH EMPIRE. My sales associate came to my house and gave me a quote that was fair and we were going to move forward with installation the next day on replacing the carpet on my stairs with vinyl planks. So I took off of work. Around 9am I began calling my associate and he was confused as to where the installation team was, I got a call back from him that they would be calling me once they figured out what was going on. Customer service called me at 11:35 AM to say they weren’t going to come at all because they didn’t have all the materials (mind you the day before my associate was able to book the appointment only because the system said that we’d be good to go (meaning they had everything)).
I asked this woman to assure me that they would show up the next day with all materials and she did. Que day TWO taken off of work. Install team shows up around 9 to tell me the 1-2 day job I was quoted would take 3-4. And when I questioned this they told my sales associate “didn’t know what he was talking about” and “was clearly new”. My associate has been with empire over 15 years. I told them I had an event at my house in two days and needed my stairs done. He said it couldn’t be done, I asked about the first flight as it was the only one my guests would see, he said no and that he’d produce a lot of dust which they were only responsible for cleaning on the actual stairwell.
He then asked if my house was new construction, it is. It was then that he stopped using jargon to explain things once he noticed that I was actually following him and knew the terms and he wasn’t going to confuse me (side note, do NOT have installers come to your house if you are a woman without a male present. It's ridiculous that in 2020 I have to say this but his attitude towards me was condescending and very Man-splain-ish.) After saying that my house was a new build he said “why didn’t you just have hardwood put on your stairs to begin with?” I replied that, "Now I clearly wish that I had".
After the long song and dance turns out that they didn’t bring the necessary trim to do a single step. I asked if this trim was special because of my stairs which he already said he’d need to do some build up work on anyway, he replied no and that this was necessary for any job. Long story short… they showed up with NO INTENTION to begin working as they AGAIN did not have what they needed.
Obviously at this point I am LIVID. I call customer service who also I had found out at this point had double charged me on the deposit. They offered no relief other than to give me the $250 off. Before you think this was significant this was OVER A SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLAR PROJECT. I told them about the multiple days of work I missed and the ridiculous runaround and they said “…we’ll get back to you….” They called me back the next day to say “well there was going to be an upcharge to build up your stairs which we can waive.” But that there would be NOTHING done about current balance. At this point I cancelled the project. Someone from customer service reached out to try and save it still waving the $250 flag and I said no.
After getting quotes and discovering Empire had bought their biggest competitor in Chicago, I EXTREMELY RELUCTANTLY called them back to reinstate the order. My associate entered in the order and apparently inadvertently applied the friends and family discount twice. Again in the scope of 7500 an additional 250 was not obviously apparent. Also somehow now the process had changed and now instead of owing a 10% deposit I now owed a 25% deposit!!!
Fast forward to today, DAY THREE missed from work and no install team…. My associate was so upset at how customer service had treated me before that he was actually waiting outside my house for the install team to make sure everything went correctly!!! And guess what...it didn’t. We had been conversing back and forth since before 9 AM and at 10 o’clock he tells me the reinstatement team never reinstated the order. I call them and they say they only see the cancellation from the first time, I directed the lady’s attention to the $1800 I had JUST PAID 5 days prior. Her response was “oh I do see that” and that she was going to have to transfer me. Turns out since the system saw the same deduction twice it flagged the order.
Did anyone call my associate? No. Did anyone call ME? OF COURSE NOT. I have now wasted 3 of my PTO days (mind you this all occurred over the holiday/ beginning of the year season) and I was unable to travel the way I wanted to because my days had to be used for this. I had my home built from the ground up; I have dealt with every type of contractor possible. I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO DISRESPECTED IN TERMS OF BOTH MY MONEY AND MY TIME AS EMPIRE. Before this review seems as though this is my first complaint. I gave this review to empire not once, not twice, but three times over this process. Nothing ever changed, and I even had one associate tell me he couldn’t tell me when his supervisor would call me back because “he outranks me so I can’t tell him what to do or to get back to you by a certain time.”
Now that the Installation has actually begun. I see that there is a lip between the flat plank and the stair nose plank. It is enough of an edge that when I ran my hand across it I felt the lip scrape on the bottom of my hand. The installers insisted that this is the way it is always done and that the other stair nose they have as an option has an even larger lip in it. Given that I chose this flooring type for its durability and waterproofing I’m skeptical that any moisture or dust won’t just immediately collect here when it hits the step.
Now that the stairs have been installed I asked the installer before he left why they were flexing and creaking. I was told that since it is cold outside it would take even longer for it to dry, and that it would be 2-3 days before they were final. It has been 6 days and the stairs are still creaking and making a cracking when you step on them. I also never received the paperwork detailing my warranty or how to address any future issues, his response? “Oh, they didn’t give it to me.”
Deven, we regret to hear that your concerns have not been addressed. We located your order and will be in touch with you shortly.

I recently had a vinyl kitchen floor installed (12/2019). The salesman came quickly and the appointment to install was scheduled right away. So far- so good, although the price was a little high. I was expecting Empire employed professional installers. Not so. They sent an independent contractor who was nice, but the crew was far from professional. Smoking right outside the front door with the door open, etc. But I was willing to look past that.
Immediately after they left, I noticed a big scratch in the floor and several large chips in between the sections of flooring. Furthermore, the cove base looked like it was installed by my 5 year old. Look at the pics to see how poorly installed the floor and cove base was. I immediately contacted Empire and they scheduled someone to come look at it. Someone showed up and said he was there to tear it up and replace it that day, although they framed it as they were just sending someone to inspect the damage. I had to work and was not informed that he was there to tear the floor up, so I asked to reschedule for when I could clear my calendar. I called to reschedule and was informed that it will cost me $1,000 to have it repaired!!!! I have contacted several people, and the managers will not get back to me. I am so livid with the shoddy, overpriced work with no resolution that I am in the process of filing a complaint with the BBB. Please avoid at all costs!

To say I am disappointed with the overall customer service is an understatement! Nearly a year ago I purchased flooring and installation for 3 rooms. One of the floorings I chose was based on the information I was given, which was that this particular flooring could be installed on the stairs at an additional cost which I agreed to pay. Two days later the floors were installed apart from the stairs as the installers advised that it was not possible to install this flooring on stairs. I called Empire immediately and for a few weeks they tried to resolve the issue, but after that I only heard from them when I reached out to them. Finally we agreed I would get a refund for the stairs. That was the end of October. Surprise, surprise I then heard nothing, they didn't even respond to my emails.
Finally I paid someone to come out to sort my stairs to match my floors. I reached out again to Empire and someone did contact me offering less money than originally agreed. I explained it was less than originally agreed and far less than it had cost me to correct their incompetence. Well guess what? I am still waiting for them to get back to me!!! If you want a company that stands by what they say and have exceptional customer service DO NOT USE EMPIRE!

Also, the salesperson that came out to our house was very nice. If I need anything else, I’ll call him again. The installation was good as well with the exception of when we did the one-year same as cash deal with the credit service. It was a hard time trying to get that figured out and it took them about an hour to get it figured out. That part of it with the credit people was kind of a nightmare. I was on the phone and my wife had to be the one to talk to him because she was on the contract and it was a mess. They just couldn’t get an authorization number from them to do it.

I saw the commercials and I heard that Empire Today had a good price. So I decided to go for an estimate and the estimate was nice. Carpet was installed in our apartment – the whole area except for the kitchen, the stairs and both bedrooms – and the product is lovely. The two guys who came out to install were wonderful. I own a painting company and that’s how our guys are. They come up in an unmarked truck and usually they’re foreigners so I'm very used to that and I prefer that. But I can see how other people in other areas might want magnets on the car or at least a shirt that says something about Empire. That aside, the installation went wonderfully. I hadn’t paid so the installers were a little worried about that but they still installed it. I was thankful that they weren’t like, “Oh yeah, we have to come back.”. But then I paid five minutes after I got a hold of my rep and it was good.

We had the Sunnyside carpet installed. It was silky soft and within our price point. We've had two different installs. One was for the stairs, our bedroom and the hallway. That one was great. Then a month later, we did our daughter's room. But even though it said that it was the same carpet, the carpet in her room feels way different and it sucks. I was really confused.
We had a funky, awkward meeting with the lady that did our original quote. She was very pushy and when it came time to have the second carpet installed, I went online. I went in and did it myself. I don't know exactly how she found out that I had re-done it, but she noticed that we had an appointment that day and happened to be in the office. She called me first and said she was really disappointed that I didn't call her. She kept sighing, hemming and hawing. It was awkward, and she ended up coming to our house that night. The next day, Empire Today called up and asked why we didn't purchase it that night. I pretty much told them what happened, and they asked, "What if we could do this and get you another person?” I said, "Let’s do it.”

I would like to give them no star's but you can't. Where do I start? I bought a carpet from them 10 yrs. ago in New York and the experience was flawless. I recently bought a house in Florida and it was the opposite of the New York experience. First of all the salesman was rude and uncooperative but, I put that aside and looked at carpeting and flooring for the kitchen. The flooring is fine. He proceeded to show me $5000 carpeting when he was told about what I wanted to spend. It's a second home!
Now, there was carpet down in the house already and we told him I wanted the same quality that was there already. He showed us carpeting and said he would give us the upgraded padding for no additional charge and said it would look and feel the same when you walk it. Nothing could have been farther from the truth!!!! I called their customer service right after the install to wage my complaint. The salesman directly guaranteed the price, we shook hands and he left. Later that night a salesman calls my wife and offers her a much lower price if we agree to it now. We're hesitant but it's a great price so we jump on it. Then when they have our floor ripped up and our pants down they turn around and jack up the price. They are numb to the actions of their salesmen and this charade is clearly a routine. They are essentially a consulting firm who is a middle man between you and an installer. 100% do not use this company.

The first and second time, I ordered carpet for the downstairs and my upstairs. I had a house fire five weeks after I had the upstairs carpet installed, and it destroyed every carpet and floor in my home. So, I had Empire Today redo all my carpets. And for the first time I ordered flooring from them and it looked great. They did every floor in my home except one little bathroom that my husband did. And he was going to do the kitchen, but he sliced his palms cutting carpet in the basement, and we were due for an inspection from the insurance company on a Monday. I called their sales rep and asked if anybody could come out here. And they installed it the next day or the day after before our inspection. I can't ask for anything better especially with an emergency like that because you're supposed to have everything done, especially I had a floor with no floor at all because they ripped it out.

Empire Today installed luxury vinyl plank and carpet in our living room, bedrooms and hallway. I liked being able to easily get it all scheduled lumped together, to do the vinyl plank and the carpet in one and the fact that they can get out so quickly. Cost was a factor too in going with them. It was on the carpet side of things, not so much on the luxury vinyl plank. They were a lot more expensive than I could've gotten, but I liked the option that they had that we ended up going with. The look of it is exactly what I wanted.
I like the look of the vinyl, but the carpet is generic. I could’ve found something like that elsewhere. But the vinyl plank that they had, I couldn’t find it anywhere else. But I was a little disappointed. I thought it was gonna be thicker than it is, which caused issues like having to lower the baseboards. I just had the house painted, so now, I got all these exposed unpainted sheetrock that I still haven’t had the chance to get back to. And it didn’t line up quite as well with some of the existing flooring, which I thought it would. Because when the salesman came out, the sample shown was with the subfloor attached to it, which I find misleading. So, I didn’t like that. But ultimately, it was still a consistent thickness with a lot of the other products on the market, so it was something I would be able get around with.
The salesman made a point to say that it is very durable and scratch-resistant. I looked for comments about things like that online versus other products and so far, it has met our needs. It would be hard to find much better service. The installers seemed to be respectful of the home. They were in and out very quickly. They did a great job with the luxury vinyl plank. All the cuts that they made looked really clean. The installer went out of his way to make sure the plank direction was gonna be what we wanted and made sure the baseboards were all cleanly placed back. They took them off and then put them back. So, they did a great job on that.
So far, this is my first experience with putting in new carpet and the carpet would’ve been a bit cleaner. The edges have a lot of little strings and stuff to clip back, and the seams were more obvious than I thought they were gonna be. There are little threads and things sticking around. When they said it was gonna take two to three days to install and it was done in less than a day and a half, I thought they could’ve spent a little more time. Nevertheless, the foreman was really good.

We had a very good Empire sales rep. He was very professional and had really nice samples. He made sure to give us a military discount. We got the best carpet and we didn’t realize how nice it was until it was put down in our two bedrooms. It is so nice and plush. The carpet that was in the house was old. It was like a 70s shag. The rep gave me the standard padding for the carpet that we got. Their standard padding was higher than what the normal standard padding is. It was like a six or something so it was very good. The only problem I have was the fact that the rep did not measure well. When the installers came to install the carpet, they didn’t have enough of it. They had to come back and finish. That was the bad part. Other than that, the installers were great. They were quick and very professional. I would buy from Empire again for sure.

I was approached by some other places, but they were high. When the mother of a friend of mine had a floor put in, I asked her who she used and how much it cost. She told me the price and that she used Empire Today. Their floor was great, and she said she was really pleased with everything. The cost was a lot better for the same things that I wanted from the other places. So, I called them. The sales guy that came out was laid back and very informative. He answered my questions and showed me what I wanted. I had to reach out to him a couple of times and he responded quickly back to me. He was good. The installation team was great. They came in and put the flooring in. I love the floor, but one section was buckling. I told them about it and they're coming to fix it today.

Updated on: 01/17/2020: After speaking with customer relations I was basically told that what they installed is it regardless of what I was promised. Be very careful about using this company. Just think about. This Empire's own customer relations dept said this to me. I will be updating my reviews on this company weekly. Seems like a company this size would appreciate good customer service. Be real sure of exactly what you want. Brandon ** one of their very dishonest salesperson lied multiple times to me. He said whatever I wanted to hear. And they praised the salesman for it. I hope no one else has to go through this.
Original: I spoke with a Brandon ** an employee/Salesman for Empire Today. I had some questions about the product. I asked about the thickness of the vinyl. He told me it was 6.5mm. Also, told me that the installer would install my new toilet since the toilet had to be removed. After half of the living room was completed I read the labels of the product boxes. I was very upset to learn I had been lied to. The vinyl was much thinner than I was promised. And I had to install the toilet by myself which was difficult. I'm handicap with use of only one arm. I spoke with a young lady about this matter and she told me I would receive a call back within 24 hours. I trusted your salesman. You guys didn't install what I purchased and you owe me the difference. Why this salesman would bald-faced lie to my wife and I is crazy. Had a family member help me with the toilet. I'm very frustrated. I came to you because I thought I could trust you. Lied and I was purchasing almost 12,000 dollars worth of floor.

I had seen a lot of the television commercials and I called Empire Today first. The rep was very nice, so I didn't even get another quote. I had them install the best quality luxury vinyl planking floors the whole upstairs. It made a big difference. I have rowdy dogs, so having the nice waterproof floors that still looks great is a nice value for the home. But the original measurements for the flooring didn't match what the installers found. So, that was good and bad. It took them an extra half day because they had to get more materials from the warehouse. But it really made me like the company because I didn't get the most expensive, and they didn't charge any extra when they found that more materials were needed. They honored the original estimate, and I thought that was great. I really like the floors, and the installation was really smooth and good.

For my third time of using Empire Today, I had laminate tile in my bathroom, laminate flooring in my living room and hallway, and then a piece of carpeting upstairs. They all look very nice. As for the installation, every other crew was wonderful aside from one person. There was an issue with the floor and instead of him solving it, he refused to do the work, left, and blamed it on me. But all the other crew that did the work were very efficient and they did everything they needed to do very quickly. There was an issue with one of the rooms that I had to get additional work done on it and they had to come back. It went very well. So, they finished the work and they absorbed one of the additional costs. Empire is very easy to work with and accommodating. They get in then get out, and it doesn't drag on.

We had some issues with the floor not being able put in hardwood, because we had some issues with our previous floors that were not Empire. So, they reacted quickly to it and came back out with carpet samples, because we were unable to do the hardwood floor, and took care of it. And then the install was scheduled and the guy who installed was very respectful and did a nice job. Overall, the quality of the workmanship is good. We had the floors installed in the great room, the hallway, and three bedrooms. We got prices from others and found that Empire's is a bit better than the competitors. Then when we resisted and said we had to wait for our other estimates to come in, they dropped the price by almost half. It ended up being the lowest estimate so we went with it. The installer was very nice but I was disappointed with the whole process. He arrived very late in the day and stayed until after 9 but didn’t finish and had to come back the next day. He also didn’t have enough carpet to do 2 of the closets that we payed for.
My husband told him it was fine because he didn’t want him to have to come back a third time but I am not happy about the closets not being done. My husband used to install carpet and we are concerned about the process used. There was no gluing or stapling of the pad so we are worried about shifting over time, especially with the large seam that goes right through the middle of the living room. Also it’s only been a few months and there is a large area lifting from the wall in our hallway. Overall for the cost, I wish we had gone with a different company even if it cost a little more.

After a lot of time spent calling and calling we were told we would be issued a refund for the entire amount paid and the account would be closed. Now before we have received a refund, we are sent a bill for the original amount, including a refund we never received.
In all my life I have never managed to work with a company as incompetent as this one. My husband and I had very expensive waterproof laminate flooring placed in our living room approximately 18 months ago. We noticed 1 week ago that the corner top layer of one of the boards was lifting. We contacted Empire about repair. When their customer service representative (Emily) contacted us, she did nothing but tell us we were out of install warranty and manufacturing warranty may not cover due to water/ moisture damage. She refused to send a flooring specialist out to our house without charge to determine if it is an installation problem or manufacturer problem and to give us a professional opinion, even to give me an estimate to repair if due to installation (which we would be responsible for).
I have lost all faith in their representation and now am stuck with a 4000.00 floor that is lifting. I am forced to contact the manufacturer myself for warranty information as Empire refuses to advocate us regarding a product they sold and installed. Poor customer service. It would have been so easy to send someone out to look at it without incurring additional cost to me. I would of used them for repair if needed but will seek installation elsewhere and will tell everyone we know, NEVER to use Empire for their flooring needs.

Empire Today is generally good. They got good workmanship, they were quick, and they knew what they were doing. The floors left are good. One drawback was that they didn't put like plastic sheeting over everything. I didn't realize how dusty it gets. But I had microdust over everything on my ground floor, furniture, countertops, and everything. And so, I had to hire a cleaning company to come in and dust everything down, and that cost $345.
Empire is really nice. I called them back, and they credited my hardwood flooring installation with that amount so it didn't cost me anything to get those folks in. But going forward, they should have their teams take plastic sheeting with them so when they do that, it doesn't cost the company or the customer. That was kind of a big deal at the time because I felt like my house was really dirty and microdust gets everywhere. I had a bit of a problem with that but the cleaning crew did a great job. The house looks really nice now and we still love waking up to the new floors.

I was happy with the sales rep, but when I tried to reach him, the number that I was given was the wrong number. I had to call the main number and they contacted him. And I wish the installers would’ve spoken more English. I have two cats and I was trying to explain to them that if they did the bottom floor bedroom, I could put the cats in there and then they would have access to the entire house. But they decided to go into each and every room, so I was continually running after my cats because I couldn’t keep them locked up.
I had rugs installed in all the bedrooms plus the living room and stairs. The work is fine. The padding has like little rocks in it, they're not rocks but that's what they feel like. I explained it to the people that were here installing and one guy said to do nothing but the other guy took a hammer and started pounding them out. He said that’s what I have to do, pick up a hammer and pound it out. It’s cheap carpeting and I knew that. But the padding was the middle grade and I didn’t expect to feel rocks in it. When I walk in the carpeting, I hit one and it feels like a rock underneath. If someone had shoes on them, they probably wouldn’t notice, and these guys didn’t until we pointed it out to them. We don’t allow shoes in the house. So, it's a weird feeling every day.

We got hardwood floors installed on the second floor of my home. Empire was the first one that we contacted, and they had the color match of the hardwood to the existing hardwood that was installed in the home when it was first built. And they had the same finish to the hardwood floor. The other group that we checked did as well in terms of the color match but the finish was a little different. Our new flooring exceeded our expectations. We’re very pleased with the installers. The actual people that came and installed the hardwood did a fantastic job. It took them two days to get it done.
The whole communication process that my wife and I had to go through with Empire management was frustrating. Empire was offering two different financing packages. One was 12 months, no interest. The second one was 24 months and there was some interest rate along with that. And we didn’t go with that because the interest rate was way too high. My wife and I wished to pay in 12 months. And part of the whole process in terms of getting to the point of installing the hardwood, we understood that we had to put at least 30% deposit on the total price of the product.
Empire was trying to finance through Wells Fargo. So, to do the financing, you gotta go through that application crap. My wife and I were joint on the application. And this goes back to the frustration that we had with Empire management where on two separate occasions, we submitted the application, neither me is primary or my wife, but both of us were on it in terms of the application. And Empire management came back to us twice and said we were denied. But I got a phone call from Wells Fargo, and a few days later, I got a letter in the mail from Wells Fargo with an Empire credit card and an account that’s been opened under Wells Fargo for Empire where we’ve been approved.
My wife and I have the money, so we went through a completely different route or source to put down payment and to pay it off at the completion of the installation. We did not go through Empire or Wells Fargo. We were trying to do it through Empire and Wells Fargo. Empire blew it in terms of financing. There was completely incorrect, inaccurate information that Empire management was giving the sales representative and to us.
Wells Fargo called me because I have my home mortgage through Wells Fargo. And a couple of days later, I got a letter in the mail from Wells Fargo saying, “Here you go.” And it was an Empire credit card that says, “Your account has been established. You have $8,000 worth of credit.” All I needed was 7,000. Empire still completed the work and got the business, but someone at Empire needs to figure this out because there’s a good chance with thousands of dollars for business, in terms of either carpet or hardwood, they could’ve lost this business. They could’ve lost all this money because someone at Empire couldn’t figure out why Wells Fargo had approved it but someone at Empire, twice now, said that it was disapproved. Empire is very fortunate that my wife and I had the ability to finance it another way to get the product that we wanted, but not everybody has that ability. So, if they don’t figure this out, they’re losing business.

We had used Empire before when they put down some hardwood floors for us. The product was good, the service was excellent, and the prices were very good too. We bought a house and have gone through and remodeled it, painted it, and did a lot of upgrades in it. The people who owned the house prior to us had a dog and a cat, and so the house had old shaggy-looking, dingy carpet. It was time to get rid of that and we wanted to get the house cleaned up and put new carpeting down. So, I got Empire again a couple weeks ago to put in 4 rooms of carpeting. The carpet is hypoallergenic and pre-padded, and was put in 2 guest bedrooms, a master bedroom, and my guy room.
We had a wonderful interaction with the guys who came to the home to install and they did a top-notch job. They got there about 9:00 that morning and that afternoon by 5:00, all the furniture was all back in place and the carpet was all down and had been vacuumed. I don't understand how Empire is still in business. Sales guy came and that was fine. He brought samples and measured with a laser gadget, outlined a detailed floor plan and contract with all sorts of notes on what our room would entail carpet wall to wall. Note that it's not a complicated room but items such as carpet NOT going in between the stair banister legs was discussed and in his notes. (More on that later). We live in a concentrated part of Boston where parking is a challenge. I ALWAYS bring this up when there's any type of service or delivery in my neighborhood. Again, in the notes and according to the Empire sales guy, 'won't be a problem, we deliver all over Boston....' Scheduled installation for a couple weeks later on a Friday. I was a bit irritated that Empire couldn't give me a window beyond 8am to 6pm up until THAT morning when it was reduced to 12-6. Ok....fine. Should only happen once. But still didn't love that.
I called Empire at 4 to see where they were in the schedule because I had to step out for 20 minutes. The switchboard reminded me that they have until 6pm but would call the actual drivers/installers (gee, thanks). Switch did and '5:00' was the answer. Cool- so I stepped out for 20 minutes, came back and continued waiting. 6pm no one. I called Empire. Switch tried to remind me that they had until 6pm. I reminded him that he's in Chicago and I'm in Boston so it's AFTER 6pm my time. Where are they? No call to me from the drivers so far, by the way. Switch called the drivers again. Not sure what happened to 5:00 but at 6:10, they said "20 minutes". At this point, it's Friday night and I'm looking at having installers in my bedroom until 10-11pm. Again, fine, I'll suck it up because it should be a one time thing.
6:55pm a van finally rolls up to my apartment. It's drizzling. Two guys get out of the truck and the first thing said to me was "Do you want to reschedule? It's raining". What??? I've been waiting all day, these guys could have called me WAY earlier than this to reschedule and EMPIRE Switchboard, or someone at HQ, could have managed the process if they knew the rain was going to be a problem (although, I think that's ridiculous and will hold my expletives at bay) and if the installation just couldn't be done that day. Same guy then asked "Do you have a garage?" At this point, my blood pressure jumped because, as mentioned, that's something I addressed already with the sales guy and was assured, 'it's not a problem'. I stated that they're here now and that I want the job done, period.
Took them upstairs and it was like they had no idea what the job was! Remember those banisters? They were looking at them and scratching their heads, wondering how they were going to do this.... Again, all in the notes. Discussed at length. I should also mention, that even though Empire had a couple people call ME a couple different times to make sure I was prepared for the sales guy visit and then the installation (where I mentioned the parking issue AGAIN), I was most irritated by the two installation guys' LACK of preparedness for my installation. I blame them but more so on Empire as a whole.
The lack of coordination was so apparent and resulted in my cancelling the order with the poor guys waiting for me to do so. I'm leaving some things out, but I think you'll get the gist. Very frustrating and I'll never use Empire again. I did end up going Cambridge Rug Co and not only were they a little bit cheaper, I'm supporting a local business and they spent time with me, were professional, responsive and I can't recommend them high enough! Empire, never again.

The Empire rep that came to my home was really helpful with all the materials that she brought. She even suggested some different types of flooring and some different types of carpet too. She suggested colors and how it can be combined with all the wall color too. So, it was a really good experience. The one thing that made us decide to go to Empire is that they offered that they can do the job as quick as we want. We had another company that came and they told us, "No, it will take two to three weeks." But then Empire told us, "If you want, we can do it tomorrow." So, that was a huge change for us.
We changed all the floors of the whole house but the bathrooms. We did vinyl on the living room, dining room, and kitchen, and carpeting on the four bedrooms that we have, the stairs and the family room in the basement. The installers did a really good job. Empire Today installed the carpet that we replaced many years ago. The wood floor replaced the carpet. We had it installed in the entire house with the exception of the bathrooms. The installers came in and moved around the house. They helped remove the large furniture, and then they began leveling the floor, sanding it. After that, they took lunch, and then they began the process of putting the hardwood floor down. That evening, they covered the furniture that we had to leave outside with plastic protection, and then the next day, they came to finish. I was pleased. We did it for my mom’s house and we like that she is able to move around the house in the chair more easily than she was able to do on the carpet.

I really enjoyed working with the sales representative. However, the people that came out to install were lackluster. I was not happy with them. They ended up stepping on paint after they replaced the carpet and then put it right on to the new carpet. And then, one of them told me, "Oh, no. It will come out.” I said, "No. That will not come out." And then, he said, "No. Just wait till tomorrow and the stuff that’s put on there, it will come out." I again said it won't. And then, it didn't. So, I ended up calling back, he came out and replaced the section which he should've just done in the first place. Also, they were not honest with me. They kept on saying, "We'll come out, we'll come out," and then maybe hoped that I wouldn't pursue it any further.
They just felt rushed and they had another job they wanted to get to instead of taking the time to fix them right away or they just were tired and didn't want to do it. But even the second time they came out, they didn't wear any booties and you would have thought they would've learned on the first time when they go and might step on something there. I'm trying to sell this house, so they're painting, they're doing things. But the salesperson was wonderful. He wore little booties which all the contractors they've worked with wear booties for that reason, in case they step on something outside, they don't try to get in. Everyone from the selling to the customer service for doing the carpet fixed were great. Empire Today is definitely worth looking into. But when it comes to installation, make sure they watch where they step.

I went with Empire Today before in a previous house and I went with them again to have carpet installation in my family room and office. But this time, I waited longer than what I had anticipated. Other than that, it was installed correctly. Everyone was professional and very polite. The sales rep was wonderful. He communicated well, answered any questions I may have had and he was very informative. They could improve on the timing though and it would've been better if there'd be more discounts, especially if I’m a returning customer. Nonetheless, the quality is good.

Empire installed vinyl flooring in my kitchen. They had assured me it was waterproof. This was a flat out lie. Within just a few months it has started to lift off the floor in numerous places. Empire says the warranty will not cover its repair because the damage is "site related". They claim that since my dog urinated on the floor that this caused the separation from the subfloor. This is total malarkey. I've had the floor looked at by a professional and the reason the vinyl is coming up is because the subfloor was not nailed down completely. Very shoddy workmanship, very poor customer service, very embarrassing over the holidays when family members came by.

I had a friend that recommended Empire and did get discount or getting the recommendation from another customer. He was really happy with the way everything went. I did see his flooring, and he told me everything went smoothly. I had done the hassle of going to a store and trying to pick a product out. I looked a few times and always came out more confused than when I went in. Having a salesman come with the samples to your house helped a lot. The one who came from Empire was good at explaining everything and showing me what was available.
We had a few bumps with Empire Today along the way. The salesperson came and everything went good. I made the order and I had a second choice, and she said I could change that order and gave me a date that I would need to change it by. So, I decided to go ahead and change. They scheduled the installation, and the guys came and they had the original product. They didn't have the changed order. They had to reschedule, which was just a few days later. They came back, but they didn't bring enough material to complete the installation. They did everything but the master bathroom. Because they didn't have enough material with them, they had to reschedule the next installation, which took about a week, and then they came back and finished the bathroom. The installation fellows were great. They did a good job.
I was really happy, and I love my flooring. There were just little problems with getting the right flooring and having it put in. When the salesman was here, we talked about the pricing, and there were two different prices on the flooring. The second one that I changed to, she had quoted me and wrote the note down on one of the brochures what the quote was. When she called me, she asked, "What did I quote you?" And I gave her the wrong amount. I gave her $500 more than what she's actually written on the paper by mistake. They had also given me a little bit of a break, $100 off two different times. So, it was supposed to be $200 off plus. They did change that. We got everything worked out, and I was charged the correct amount.

Had to take off work and had everything in the 2 rooms I was having carpet installed in packed up and out of the way to find out that they were not coming on the date we had scheduled. The whole week before my appointment I received text messages asking me to confirm the appointment and when I replied back with confirmation, a reply message was sent back to me confirming that the appointment was confirmed. Had to reschedule and take an additional day off.
When asked to speak to a manager or someone to help us out, every department would say that they handled a separate department and could not help us. Sales rep did state that it was their fault on their end because the person did not type in my confirmations in their system. I had laminate and carpet put in our living room, hallway, and kitchen. I went with Empire among other companies I considered because of the six-month payment cash. The team came out quickly and it didn’t take too long for them to do it. The flooring looks good but there are some issues that we’re still trying to get resolved. We have a very busy household, so I didn’t pay as much attention to it as I should have right after they were leaving. We had to have someone come out already to redo the seams in the hallway ‘cause the seams were showing, but then I’ve still got a few other pieces of my laminate flooring that have bubbles in them, underneath the laminate part. They haven’t done anything about that yet, but they seem to stand behind whatever they say they’re gonna do. So, when you use them, make sure you double check the installation really good before they leave.

He has done it for a few of my friends and he's recommended through family. And the installer guys were very comprehensive, kind, and were gentle to my stuff. It was a really great experience! I wouldn't have had them come in if all my friends didn't tell me how great they were.
The new carpet feels really great. The color is really pretty. It's got black flecks in it, silver, and a tiny bit of beige, so it goes with everything. It's gorgeous. But it makes it hard to open the front door now because we had it kinda set to the lower carpet. Also, now, we're afraid of putting shoes in. Updated on 02/11/2020: I will make this short because I have already invested so much time and effort into this matter. Basically, Empire Today wants to charge us $1200 to remove a newly installed carpet and replace it with a new color because this carpet was supposed to be grey and is sage green. Their corporate office admitted that this particular carpet can look green in certain lighting, but didn't tell us (the consumer) that. We would have NEVER chosen a carpet that "could look green." If you are unhappy, they won't stand by their guarantee. They are saying that although we didn't have that information about the carpet looking green, we are choosing a new carpet by choice, which is certainly NOT the case. Buyer beware! I have sage green carpet with grey walls and white trim. Carpet was supposed to be grey as well. Such a disappointment.
Original Review: A wonderful sales rep came to our house and showed us the samples we were looking for. We chose a very traditional grey carpet to go down into our recently remodeled basement that had newly painted grey walls. When the installers arrived, we confirmed that they were installing the correct carpet by its name tagged at the end of the carpet roll. Unfortunately, when they were done installing, the carpet looked green instead of grey. We contacted our sales rep again and he gave us a phone number and extension to call. I have called this number several times and have left several messages and no one will get back to me (it’s been a week now so we are not optimistic that we will suddenly get a phone call). We absolutely hate this carpet down in the basement and it looks awful against our grey walls. It’s awful just to be down in our basement and see that this was the finishing touch on the project.

I had carpeting and a wood floor installed by Empire Today on a living room and then a large master bedroom. I just purchased the property and I had two other people come out and give bids, and then I was on a time restraint. So, right before the holidays, I needed to get the work done because we were moving into the house right after Christmas. Empire was a little more expensive than the other company, but for similar materials, Empire will be able to do it in my timeframe. They had a guy come by on a Saturday, and then we were able to set everything up for a Monday and Tuesday install. So, that worked out really well.
Empire's salesperson, Mark, did a really good job and he showed us all the different products. I kinda talked to him with doing something in the other room that I wanted to do, and he said, “You're better off doing these two here, and then doing the other ones later.” And Empire had some kind of deal going on. The install went really well. The installers were very pleasant. There was one board my wife didn’t like, which was like in the middle of the room, and they came the next day and took up the floor and took what that part was and replaced it, and then we changed some color, and they took care of that also. It took a month of Sundays to get it done, but she did work very well to get it done.
The installers were fabulous and they were two of the nicest people I've met. They were very thorough, good, quick, and professional and the work was done extraordinarily well. It's a nice carpeting. I had carpet installed for my entire house. In the military we have After-Action-Reviews (AAR) after every major event/exercise. These AAR's are intended to be honest, yet constructive. I will submit my AAR with no less intentions. The sales rep and I walked through the house and I addressed where the carpet was to be installed with transitional strips; some pitfalls where that the door to the garage may need to be cut due to the height of the carpet, which she said the installers can do. I also explained that I wanted not just the tread and risers carpeted but the stringers as well. She told me that all laminate would be removed down to the bare step. The installers showed up on schedule. They were very polite and professional throughout the entire process.
I asked Empire Today if they could provide an itemized list of what was to be done by the installers but they stated that they don't provide a list. They do have a contract that states what is to be done in broad strokes but we found that to be insufficient. I say insufficient because the installers were unaware that the stringers were to be carpeted; also that the installers were to provide a transitional strip in front of my washer and dryer; the laminate was to be removed prior to installation on my steps. It became an additional challenge because the installers didn't speak English and I don't speak Spanish. I actually request a bilingual representative to come to my house but that never happened. I served as a Contract Officer Rep for the federal government and this was unacceptable but probably more common in the private sector.
The installers would periodically check with their Spanish speaking supervisor for more details on their installation requirements. It became clearer that Empire Today (sales rep) did not relay the specifics to the installers' supervisor. The sales rep also told me that paper contracts (K) are historically less accurate than digital K’s. The sales rep did respond to all my requests in a timely manner. After the installers completed my tread and risers of my steps, I called the sales rep immediately and informed her that I believe the industry standard is to install the stringers before the tread and risers. But she said that it was an installer’s preference. Also she initially stated that Empire Today had no qualified installers to install stringers.
The next day they send over an installer to do the stringers; he stated that the stringers are to be done first before the tread and risers. The other piece of this disconnect is that the sales rep didn't know that my carpet with the padding wove into the carpet itself, and not two separate pieces, could not be used as stringers because of the padding; therefore, I had to choose a different carpet to be used for my stringers. The hue is a little different from the tread and risers but it's the best you can do without replacing the whole carpet. If known that this was an issue, I would have selected a different style carpet.
The sales rep is unfamiliar with carpet installation. I should have given her warning; that, "we should contact her if we have any issues," more thought. That was a missed red flag. Obviously the language barrier, lack of itemizing, disconnect between what was promised and the installers contractual obligations, the carpet used (that's why the carpet was surplus and on sale), etc. all made the installation an emotional and laborious process for me. But this is probably an accepted business practice for most industries. Most will probably outsource to the lowest bidder knowing full well of its shortcomings and gaps in customer service. QA/QC is not even an afterthought. It's simply "do no harm to the comptroller," mentality.

I called Empire and complained, they still did not honor what was told to me.
She told me that I can choose between two plans to pay in a year with no interest or some other plan and be charged a lower interest rate and have at least 2 years to have to pay it. I signed a new contract to have the carpet paid off in a year with no interest and they are still charging me interest. I have called twice and told them I have a copy of my new contract, and this is still not fixed. I feel that they are frauds. I do like my carpet, but because of being lied to, in the next house I move in which will be next year sometime, I will never use them. Please make sure you read before you sign. We were gonna do a whole house remodel and I started searching on Google. I found that Empire Today had very good responses. People were very happy with Empire, which was probably the main reason we chose them. We did a wood plank that's waterproof that has a cushion back on it. When the installers came, they said that we bought the top-of-the-line. We had it put in the living room, dining room, kitchen, hallway, utility room and two bathrooms. We had it in everything except for two bedrooms and then we had carpet put there.
At first, when the rep brought his samples in, he wanted to sell us some linoleum and we didn't wanna go that way. We wanted it to look nice. My wife said we wanted some kind of a planking. So, he went out and that was the piece that he brought in. It was a light gray color and that's what we picked. He seemed to know a lot about it. He only brought us in one piece to pick from and that was kind of different. He would have brought us several but we told him ahead of time that we were going with light gray walls and white ceilings, and we already had the white kitchen in blackish gray granite, so he kinda knew the color scheme and he was good about it.
We had a problem part way through the installation. We took for granted that every piece of what the rep brought us was gonna look that way. The crew started laying it and they had four light pieces together and then a dark piece, and it just didn't look right. So, we stopped and called the rep. The crew, in turn, pulled it up and started mixing the boxes so we wouldn't have such a variance and the floor turned out great. They were here five days. When they put the gray trim down, when they cut it, the ends weren't gray, and I wasn't happy with that.
We had this whitish, light brownish color on the end of the trim going down the hallway when it would bump up to a door casing. Finally, after a couple more times of coming back, they took some kind of a gray pencil and colored the ends of them and it made it look a little bit better, but we still have some that weren't all the way completed. But it's not bad. They had to match an existing door trim and the quarter round trim was just too big for it, so it would kind of stand out. It was a $10,000 job and it turned out very nice. We've had several people compliment us on it.
This was a 1985 manufactured home that sits on a slab. You're used to seeing light brown walls and paneling looking stuff. We completely changed it all up into light gray walls and charcoal beams, and then we also had the new white kitchen and the flooring. We got all new blinds in now and switching all the ivory outlets and switches over to white, and we're going with the panels just to kinda make it look nice. It will probably be a home that me and my wife live in for the rest of our lives, so we figured we might as well fix it up the way we want. We're very happy.

We got a quote from an Empire Orlando Salesman for stone infused vinyl tile that was reasonable. He never said the tile we ordered could be installed without grout. The installers agreed to do this as it reduced their labor considerably. We talked to the salesman about thresholds and later found out from the installers they were not included with our order and had to buy and install them ourselves. The installers left glue and caulk on the flooring and trim that was hard to see unless you were on your hands and knees because the color was similar to the flooring so we had to clean this up. Later I could not open a sliding door and I found the tiles were blocking its path. Eventually, Empire came out and fixed this and replaced a defective tile.
When I went to install thresholds to the carpeted areas, I found that the carpet backing had been ripped out in some places near the edging so that it is no longer flat and there were places with tile missing so that the concrete floor underneath was exposed. We would have been better off with the aging carpet we had instead of money spent on a project we have to finish and clean up from. Nice people, good product but I cannot recommend the workmanship and the salesman would never call us back once he got our money.
Harvey, this is not the installation experience that we wish for our customers, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We'll be in touch with you soon to learn more.

I looked at Lowe's and some places, but I thought Empire was my best deal. Their estimate was better than anybody else I had, so I had them carpet all of my basement and then some flooring in my bathroom. I'm supposed to get a $250 off from the email, signing up for them to come out and they didn't give me that. I called twice and I never got anything back on that. Also, the installer was a bit hard to understand and there were a few problems, but we got through him. He broke the leg off of our pool table and he didn't tell us then when he put our stuff down in our toilet, he didn't leave a hole or anything for us to put our toilet back in. Still, the sales rep was nice and worked with me really well. She told me what was the best price for me and she showed me what I could use and their prices.

Some of the responses that I heard out of people who had used Empire before and some of the stuff I read online about them helped me decide to have Empire do four of my rooms and the living room. The sales rep was a nice fella. Everybody is nice at the start and we're curious people, so we pushed a little bit to see what all they had, and he just kept bringing samples. I've never seen somebody with so many samples. I picked a carpet based on the color of the samples provided in relation to the wall color and everything else.
The carpet is doing well now. It was a quick buy and no out-of-turn stuff happened, but we pushed the installation out an extra three days and they accommodated that quickly. One of the installers asked me about 10 times if it was okay to walk in a room. He walked out and was in a room, and then he wanted to go into another one that had a few things in it. He would look right at me and ask if it was okay for him to go in. I found that weird, but refreshing.

I had Empire Today install vinyl flooring and carpet in my entire downstairs. I did the vinyl in the kitchen and the carpet throughout the rest of the house - the bedroom, living room and side room. I really liked the specific style of the vinyl flooring, so that was why I chose that one. But as far as the carpet, I enjoy the color, but there wasn’t a huge option for colors. I did look before at a couple of other places, but I really liked the sale that was going on. So, I went with Empire. The installation was decent. I was a little upset that they didn't get rid of some of the old material after it was done because I thought that was included. But it wasn’t a whole lot, so we were able to get rid of it without an issue. The whole outlook of the flooring looks amazing.
What bothered me a bit was the fact that most of the day that they were here, they didn’t speak English so I had no idea what they were saying. I, sometimes, find that a bit rude. I am bilingual, but obviously not in that language myself. I don’t know if they were laughing at me or talking about me. But I liked that when they were talking to me specifically, they would then convert to English. So, that was okay. And they were really decent installers, the carpet installers more so than the vinyl. The vinyl guys were okay, and they were really nice and helped us put the refrigerator and the stove back in so that we wouldn’t rip the vinyl. But my husband was here for the carpet installation because I had to work that day. He said he really, really liked those guys.

The rep I worked with knew the product, he was helpful, and he was a good a salesman. The installation went great, too. The quality of the products was good value for the money. And I really like the softness of the carpet.

This has been the worst experience I have had with trying to have them come and fix my floor. They have one excuse after another. Just because I am old does not mean I will not fight them to fix my floors. Not only that I have slits in some of the vinyl tiles and they tell me that is part of the flooring. I would never have bought this but when you only see a piece of the vinyl 4x4 you don't see the whole vinyl. Who would buy something with a slit in it. I will have to get in touch with Wells Fargo Bank and tell them I will not pay for something that is not finished. Let them deal with Empire. I am sick and tired of this crap. I was looking through the carpet and I fell in love with their custom-ordered stuff.
When the guy came out, he told me the price and I said I couldn't afford to do it in the two rooms. But then he brought in stuff that was more within my price range and it's beautiful, gorgeous carpet. It's been just a little over a month installed and it's holding up beautifully. I absolutely love it. And the guys that came and installed it, they were quick and professional. It was one of the most awesome experiences I've ever actually had with dealing with my house. Since they changed the contract I chose to not proceed and request my "refundable" $1200 deposit. One month later and 4 phone calls later I still do not have my deposit despite being told by every customer service representative that it is pending or processing. The sales rep that I dealt with was pretty new but she was very good.
The installation took three days because it was a very big job, and the people who came out worked phenomenally. I had tiles installed in my family and Florida rooms. And then I had the stuff that looks like wood but it’s not really wood put in my kitchen and dining room and my front living room. I've never seen two people work so hard in my life. The quality of the product was comparable as well. We were able to get the color and the style of the carpet that we wanted and the sales representative made it efficient. He asked us a series of questions that got us to where we wanted. He brought in several options and gave us a little quick idea of what the carpet was like--the entry-level, the medium grade, and the good stuff. He did a good job of making it quick and easy.
Then there seemed to be a team leader with the installers. He got the guys started, he came up to talk to me about just paying, which we did there, and then he went right to work with the guys. We needed him to move his van out of the driveway quickly so my daughter could leave for work and he had no problem. He came up and did everything. Then I went down, looked at the stairs, looked for seams, and I couldn’t find any. Everything was clean. There weren’t any marks on the wall from where they laid the carpet down, and sometimes, the carpenters hit the paint and there was none of that. Everybody worked with us really well in getting it on the schedule and getting it in ‘cause we needed a few days to get the basement ready and that wasn’t a problem. It was a great experience.

We had wood floors installed and a stairway covered with carpet by Empire Today at our whole house except for one bedroom and the steps. We wanted it done immediately and I’ve used them in the past. Downstairs, we went with a light gray with a wide floor. And upstairs, we went with a little thinner and more of a taupe. The guy, John, was great as far as coming out, explaining the products, measuring and doing all he had to do. I’d give him an A. The A-plus would go to the installer. He was great. It was done in two weeks apart in the upstairs and then the downstairs.
The only disappointing experience was when I had to wait two weeks for very small pieces of trim upstairs. It wasn’t a deal-breaker, but it took forever to get the product. And then the other headache I had was when I financed some of it, and that whole process took long. They screwed up a little bit to where I had to use one of my credit cards instead of Empire financing. And that was a bit of a disappointment. There seemed to be a lot of poor communication between their representative, the salesman, home office and Wells Fargo. Two-thirds of it, I had financed. One-third, I had to use one of my credit cards. And I went that way just so they expedite the job. If I would’ve pushed, we would’ve gotten it all straightened out eventually. I had the laminated flooring downstairs and the carpeting upstairs and the bedrooms done through them and everything so far is good.
The installation went real well. The guys were real good, real nice and considerate. But I didn’t realize that they had to move everything out upstairs and where the carpet was, to lay the new carpet. I'm thinking they would do the same thing as the guys downstairs, and the ones that did the laminated floors said, “Oh, no, that’s different.” Bottom-line is they moved the furniture out and moved it back. But then I had to call them back because they had moved the furniture too close to the outlets. I couldn’t reach the outlets.
I called the installer because I had his number. I didn’t get an answer, but he did tell me he had another job, so I called the company. The company got in touch with them and they did come back. He said, “What happened?” So I went upstairs with them to show them just what the delay was, and they moved the furniture and I can reach the outlets now. Everything went well with the flooring. I was definitely not happy with the fact that when I booked my appointment there was a sale going on but once the rep came he stated that sale was over. They should really state that on their website. I still decided to get the work done. I had my floors installed right before Thanksgiving last week on 11/26. I didn't know Empire just subcontracted workers to do their work, so that was a bit startling, just 3 men and a white van in plain clothes. They finished the work in 2 days. The finished product I was not happy with the actual floors look amazing, the "quarter rounds" look unsightly, the piece to put between my carpets and the LVP flooring was on back order so they have not been placed yet, I was not told that before the install.
I left a message for my sales rep, surprise surprise no callback. I spoke to the flooring supervisor, Tony, after the job was done and told him my concerns. Due to my work schedule I told him they would have to come back the following week, he said he would reach out to me to set it up. Well he did not. I thought I would get a call that Friday to set up for the following week and that didn't happen. So I called him on Monday 12/2, he said "oh yeah we have the piece in. I just have to reach out to the carpet guys to see when they can come out, I will call you back to let you know what works for them." Well no call back on Monday, no callback yesterday.
I think that is very poor customer service, I should not have to keep calling to get my work completed. My time is just as valuable as theirs. This Tony person comes off very unprofessional because he is not true to his word. All aspects of the job should be reported before the job is started. They were very happy to take my money, but a 2 day job is now flowing into a 9 day ordeal with crickets on their end. I am being very patient but I don't want my patience to run out. I probably would not recommend my friends or family to Empire. I should have chosen a different company.

I value their opinion on that so we put it in and there are no squeaks. They had to come back because they missed one little piece they had to put in there. The floor is perfect. Charlotte: Our call may be recorded. What product did you have installed with Empire Today?
KIRK: Laminate vinyl flooring.
Charlotte: What are areas of the home did you have it installed in?
KIRK: Pretty much the whole place.
Charlotte: Did you consider purchasing with other companies prior to…?
KIRK: Yes.
Charlotte: How did the cost and quality compare to the other brands that you had considered?
KIRK: About the same.
Charlotte: What do you think was the deciding factor that made you decide to go with Empire?
KIRK: The speed that they could get it installed.
Charlotte: What was the interaction like with the sales agent that came out?
KIRK: It was terrible.
Charlotte: What happened?
KIRK: Worst experience of my life. First, he came out when he wasn’t supposed to. Then, when he did come out, he was running significantly late. We had an event we had to go to that night. He ended up having to come out twice. He had to come back later that night after we got back home from the event to finish the contract off.
Then, I paid him with what is a high-security check from Merril Lynch, and I specifically told him not to try to do it as a electronic check because it would not go through. He did that anyway, even though he was told not to do that. Of course, it didn’t go through.
The company that took over from them was very polite, they called me and said, “Well, this never should’ve been put through that way.” I said, “Yeah, that’s what I told him.” And they said, “But he still did it anyway?” And I said, “Yeah. He put it in under a Bank of America routing instead of Merril Lynch routing.” And so, yeah. My experience with the salesman was the worst ever was. He was terrible.
Charlotte: When the guys came out to actually do the install, how was…?
KIRK: They were fantastic.
Charlotte: What was the interaction like with them?
KIRK: Oh, I was here the whole time, it was very good. They were very helpful.
Charlotte: What do you think about the quality of work performed?
KIRK: It was good.
Charlotte: What’s your favorite feature of your new flooring?
KIRK: Probably the look of it.
Charlotte: Tell me about the after-install, like after they did. Did they leave a mess lying around? Did they clean up? How did that go?
KIRK: No, they cleaned up. It went well.
Charlotte: If you had to rate your experience on a scale of 1 to 5, and 5 is that you would recommend to friends and 1 is you’re pretty dissatisfied, how would you rate them?
KIRK: The whole experience or just the…?
Charlotte: Yes, the entire.
KIRK: I would say with all the hassles I had because of the salesman, it would be a 2.
Charlotte: Would it be okay if I posted a few of your comments to our website to make the feedback available to Empire?
KIRK: Yes.
Charlotte: If you have an email address that you’d like to share with me today, I can send you over a link of it if you’d like to read it.
KIRK: That’s okay.
Charlotte: If a friend or neighbor were asking you about Empire, what would you tell them?
KIRK: I’d tell them if you didn’t have to work with the salesman, they’d be a good company to deal with. But I don’t trust their salesman.
Charlotte: Our call is recorded.

The saleslady that I dealt with was great. I had carpet and some aisle planking installed. They came and they looked at the basement and said they couldn't do it. They said I had to have an asbestos test before they do it. A tile was removed by my son, and another company put the carpeting down. And it took me a month and a half to get a refund Empire Today. The installers from Empire cut some of the aisle planking a little short and they had to come back and redo it. The installation was fairly good. But the cleanup after wasn't so great. For instance, when they put the carpeting down, you have little bits of carpet on the edges. There was a lot of that left. Also, the communication with the installation team was not good. One or two of them spoke good English, but the others were mainly Spanish or Mexican.

There was too much carpet left with installers (I confirmed it was cut for me only). 2. Sales guy verbally told me my area was ~800 sf and for the same rooms HomeDepot guy measured it to 575 sf (yes they gave the official measurement). That is way too much difference, and I paid for that extra sq without any work. There is no mention of sqf calculation in any of the official documents, so there is no way for me to go back ask. In my opinion All empire's offered price discounts etc are manipulated by giving you lump sum quotes and by hiking price so always compare your quotes.

I've used Empire Today in the past at my other house when we were gonna sell it. I had a couple of rooms done by them and we were very satisfied with that carpet and how everything went but we had a bad experience with the first salesman. After he was here, my wife called to ask him a question, and he got nasty with her. We went looking elsewhere after that and then I told my wife that we could call back and see if they have a different salesman because we didn't have a problem with anything before then with the salesman. When a new salesman came out, he told me the other guy was no longer with them. They should not give a hard time to a customer just because she wanted to ask a question.
We originally got a quote which was about $200 cheaper than everybody but when we called back, it almost wound up being the same. Our estimate from the original person who came out wasn't right and we wound up almost paying $100 more than I could've gotten from another company. Still, everything went smoothly during the installation of the carpet in the bedroom. The installers got here in the afternoon and Daylight Savings time had just changed. The guys were outside working in the dark but it turned out good. Originally, the carpet was all supposed to be one piece, which was why we went with the higher estimate on the carpet. They wound up seaming my carpet in the middle of the room, which I wasn't crazy about but it seems to be good. We had two little seams, one going into our hallway heading towards the bathroom and the other one leaving the bedroom. They had to come back and work on them.
The carpet seemed like it was what we looked at but we didn’t get the good padding like we were supposed to. When the guys left, it was almost 9 o'clock and we were still putting furniture back in here. I didn't notice it until the next day. I wasn't happy with the padding. When you walk on the carpet, it's not the same as what we walked on. There's about a four-foot by four-foot section when you're leaving our bedroom, where the floor is going down there just coming in and out of the bedroom. The rest of the room does not feel like that. It almost feels like they needed a second piece of padding under there.

The guy was late almost 2 hours. Quote $20K (yes, $20K) then of course got the "manager" on the phone for the special price you never give anybody and that I am not supposed to see. Do they think we don't do our research on materials and costs? What a shady way to do business. Those old school used car salesmen techniques are so unprofessional, especially when they advertise $99/room coupons and 75% off on their website. Thinking this might need to be looked at by law professionals for deceptive marketing.

I was just looking at a commercial that Empire Today had on television, where they were offering this special carpet. I really was just gonna get carpet and I ended up getting this different flooring in the living room. I didn't know they had that special with carpet. We were supposed to get this room and this room was gonna be $75. But it didn't come up to that. The price was sort of misleading.
The sales rep was nice, he was good. The carpet upstairs is kind of buckling a bit and he told me he knew a guy who would come out and fix that for us. And that we just had to give him a call. So, we called him and he never came. The one day he was supposed to come, he told us that he was in an accident. He was supposed to come and look at the floor when I told him about the trimming and how the paint came off. Maybe that wasn't his job, but he didn't say that. He just said, "Well, I'll come out and take a look." But he never came. I called and texted two or three times. He ignored us.
Finally, I just stopped texting. He just wasn't interested in doing it and I felt that that was a little rude. I wouldn't have done that. I would've just told the person, either, "I'm not gonna help you or who you need to contact or person I know doesn't do that anymore." But he said, "Once they install your carpet, just give me a call and I'll have the guy come out and tighten that up for you." And then I asked him what the cost would be, and he said, "We'll let you know at the time." So my carpet upstairs is still buckled. It isn't fixed. I was totally dissatisfied. It's not worth it. What I'm paying every month is very expensive. Everything total was close to $7,000 for that flooring and the carpet, and that's a lot of money. So, you really wanna be totally satisfied when you spend that kind of money.
Also, there was the one part in the flooring where their rep said should be painted because it was white and the hardwood was pink. My husband painted it, but it didn't last a week. It was chipping off. So we called Empire Today and they came right out. Their reps got the trimming, but closer to the color. So, they took another week or so and they did come out with a different one, matched it up, and they put it in. So, it's okay now. The trimming really should be that color all the way around. We were not totally satisfied with the way it is, but we really couldn't afford to change it right now. But if ever we get the opportunity, we will change it. Other than that, the experience was okay. The carpet is great, and the color and everything look really nice.

I liked the person that I was working with. She tried to make sure that it was affordable for me. I had laminate floors done in my living room and my dining room, and the installation went well. They were on time and they were as professional as they could be. They didn't speak English well, which was a little hindrance, but they still communicated well enough and they cleaned up by themselves. They were also friendly. I love the flooring and it definitely met my expectation.

The salesman that came out was on time with samples as requested. We changed our installation three times due to us not being ready due to our remodeling. Empire was great until install day and then it was downhill after that. The installation crew came out to do the work and told us that the floor had too much moisture to complete the project. I purchased two dehumidifiers to dry things out. They also said they couldn't do my steps as the salesman said they could without me building the steps out to accommodate the product, again another expense on me. The installation crew came back two weeks later to install the whole house and was able to complete the work in one long day. They tried to do the steps again but the product still don't work.
After diligently trying several ways of installation they still can't complete the steps to my satisfaction. The material leaves a trip point in the step. Talked to customer service and was told too bad. Never dealt with such incompetence in customer service. Told installer to wait on steps until a resolution was decided by myself and customer service. Talked to another rep three days later and she was more rude than the first one and too bad. "We will refund the cost of the steps but don't show the customer what the break down of costs." I guess I'm supposed to believe that they are going to be honest about it after all the lies.
Also said that they would give me a hundred dollar credit for the extra work I had to perform. That's nice, four hundred dollars in material and a day's worth of work to fix the inadequacy of their product and lying salesman. The installation crew was great but customer service and salesman are lying cheats. I would recommend highly to run from this company!!!

They called while I was on hold, only to come back and say installer didn’t answer. I was the. Put on hold another 20 minutes only to have a totally different operator answer and go through the whole thing again! Still no answer from installer. Tracked to a supervisor who put in a ticket to have installer call me immediately, which didn’t happen.
The installer never called and never showed up!! I called again and talked to another supervisor who was putting in a ticket to have a manager call me this morning, that (as I had figured out by now) didn’t happen either. I called again and finally after waiting 45 minutes got the cancellation department that told me they would refund my down payment. Ummm what about the other $1,321 I paid up front? After finally getting that cleared up I was told my money would be refunded in 7-10 business days. I am not holding my breath that will happen either, so far nothing I have been told has been true!!! I will give it time then I guess I will need to go to a much bigger step.

It was the third floor, and I had never put carpeting up there. I've been here for 25 years, and I wanted to make it nice. I’m thinking about selling the house. I wanted to make it nice at a decent cost. My new carpet seems to be durable. The kids do well with it, so it seems to meet my need.

The guy that came over, Brandon, took time and effort to look at his book and find the wood that I wanted. He had a good selection. We talked about it, and he was here for a while. He was very polite and wasn’t pushy. He wasn’t like, ”I have to go to another house,” or anything like that. I felt comfortable with him. But the people in the warehouse made a mistake and I was sent the wrong material. So we were not able to do the job when it was scheduled. Everything was planned for that day, and I was excited about having it done. And then, it didn’t happen.
The crew showed it to me and said, “So, this is what you ordered?” I said, “No, that’s not what I ordered.” The crew was good. Empire was able to take care of the issue within a week. The second time another crew came, and they were excellent, too. I know Empire contracts people, so I got lucky. Both crews were very polite and very understanding. They said, “Oh, man. No, no. Okay, that’s fine. They made a mistake." They weren’t pushy, like “Are you sure you don’t want it?” And Brandon was very polite and he apologized. But the thing was that I wasn’t in a situation where it would’ve been a really crisis. I would use them again. They did a beautiful job.

I took pictures and called and they sent someone to inspect by Tuesday. Byram and partner inspected and sent pictures to manager. Inspector told me installers would be back on Thursday. I then received a call on Wednesday from Gerry and was asked to give them some time to speak with manufacturer. I agreed. I had to keep calling over and over.
I spoke with Jessica on 11/22 and she told me all approvals are in, they were waiting for materials. They w/c/b to arrange date for re-installation. I heard nothing and called back 11/25. Did not receive a callback. I called 11/26 at 10:00 and left message. I did not get a callback. I called at 11:50 and left another message for a callback. Lauren called back and said there was no defect in the material. I said what about the broken planks and the mis-cut planks. She said I could get another installation at a discount. I don't even know what that meant. I said that there was no final coat over some of the planks. I said I was dissatisfied and for someone to call me back. She said I would hear nothing different from anyone else. They had all talked about it. It's one day before Thanksgiving and my furniture is sitting out on my deck, including my kitchen appliances. On 11/21/19 no one had called by noon so we called 800# only to be told that they hadn't had the product in stock so had rescheduled us to 11/23/19. No one had called or communicated this to us.
Talked to someone at 800# who transferred me to supposed warehouse person where I talked to a gal who said they had received the product. I expressed concern over the fact that we had supposedly purchased "surplus material" from another project. She promised someone would call me later in the day to confirm they had the product. No one ever did. I tried to call back to follow up at 5:00 p.m. and could not locate the warehouse person. 800# representative said they left a message for person showing on their notes. Communicated frustration to our salesperson via text. Decided two days wait was not that bad. Stupid me still trusted they would get it right.
Next day on 11/22/19 at 6:00 a.m. received email confirming installation for 11/23/19. At 10:15 a.m. received text message from salesperson inquiring if we'd received email confirming installation and I informed them yes we had. He then proceeded to inform us that that was by mistake that they did not have the product and would not have it until mid-December.
Our house has been packed up, TV's uninstalled, bathroom cabinets cleaned out and packed up. This installation was to be done before Thanksgiving when we have family come into town. I never, ever would have agreed to a December installation inasmuch as Christmas is my favorite time of the year and I do extensive decorating. I am so very frustrated and disappointed!

I spent over 12 thousand dollars cash to get work done by amateurs. They have been out here several times, but still have tile popping up all over the floors. Baseboards installed with wood and plastic put together. Missing grouting and moldings along wall areas. The grout is so thin it is cracking in several areas. They have offered to fix these issues. But with the stress and time spent like 5 days now, I am ready to give up.
Last time they came at 3 in the afternoon on a Saturday after chasing them down for two days, they were here till 7PM and still so much was not done properly. We just asked them to go. They will take your money up front make you sign the job is complete {which it wasn’t} so you are pretty much at there mercy to try and get the project done correctly. They hire contractors just like Home Depot, they are not actually employed by empire. They are just sub contractors off the street. I myself loved my sales associate, she tried her best but her help could only go so far. My opinion don’t use this company for tile. My carpet was put in with absolutely no problems. That’s why they got a one star.

I will try to make it A short story. In July I had my dining room and hallway done with hardwood floors with empire. I also had my ceramic tile in my kitchen replaced also by Empire at the same time. The gentleman and his wife came to do the job. They were in such a rush to get everything done that they did one of the worst jobs ever seen. They also punctured a hole in my heating pipe. At this point he tells me that he can repair the pipe himself. So he supposedly repairs the pipe that’s leaking. They finish the job and I go to inspect. The corner of my kitchen where my stove and a cabinet where is sunk in and not sturdy when you walk on it. When you step in the corner you sink into the ground. So I asked the tech why it’s like this and he says there’s nothing he can do about it because there was concrete in that area. At that point I knew it was a total lie. I just wanted them out of my house at this point.
So now A month and a half passes by and we had a few cold nights. My heat turns on in the middle of the night because of the temperature outside. I get a call from my tenant saying that there’s water leaking into her bedroom. I have to call my plumber and he comes to repair the pipe that the Empire tech never fixed properly. My plumber said he put a little Band-Aid. I called Empire to tell them and they send someone out a few days later. I showed them the pipe and the large area of the floor that if you step on you sink into. The new tech tells me that the whole floor needs to be redone. So now I have new techs doing the floor and my house is flipped upside down once again dust and dirt. Nonetheless they said it would be a one day job and it is now turned into a three day job which I’ve had to take three days off of work. Never mind the fact of me not having a kitchen for three days and I have two children and a husband.
I called customer service at Empire to see what they could do for me for all of the inconvenience I’ve been through these past few months with their company and they offer me $75. This whole experience has been awful and a joke. I would never recommend Empire to anyone. I will be sharing my story with as many people as I can. And unfortunately you cannot give zero stars.

The gentleman told me I would have to have everything moved out of my rooms before they began. All the appliances etc. He then presents his estimate of $20,000. I asked if that was going to be adjusted at the %50 discount advertised. He stated that was with the discount. What!!! $40,000 for 1000 feet of laminate. He must have thought I was a fool.
He definitely tried to get over on me because I was a recent widow single woman. Later Empire called me back and asked if I was still interested in their services, I laughed at them and told them the quote the rep gave me. They replied that they thought it was a "little" high and asked if they could send another rep over to re-evaluate. I politely declined.

Be careful for some bait and switch that adds significant dollars to the cost of your job. I had a sales rep out to quote a floor job to replace carpets in 4 rooms. I had some competitive quotes and let the rep know I would go with them if he beat them. Well he did, by not including all the materials the installers would need to do the job. When I called the sales rep on installation day, he says "Oh... Sorry about that. It's going to cost $1300 more.". That put them well above the other companies we worked with for quotes. Told him I would have to cancel and he assured me I would get a full refund of my deposit.
When I called customer service and let them know I needed to cancel and they had to transfer me to their Cancellation Department - ??? They have a whole department to process cancellation. After some back and forth with a very rude cancellation rep they let me know that they would be keeping $350 from my deposit. He did offer to lower the extra costs a bit but I'm not sure I would trust these guys based on how this went. They told me Friday, no call, no show Friday. Finally got my floors put in 11/2/2019. They was supposed to haul the old floor away. They left half of it in my yard and we had to clean it up, took 6 construction bags and we had to haul it off. So after a month and a half I got my floors done.
After 4 no show and a lot of time on the phone with them. Had the worst experience with this company. They sent people out to put the flooring in that couldn't understand what you was saying to them. The first day they did one bathroom and the hall. Said they was coming back the next day to finish the other bathroom, didn't show up the next day until 1:00 or 1:30 in afternoon to finish it. Took the toilet out and set it in my closet in my room and got my carpet wet and never said anything about it. I was going to have them do the other rooms in my house but I will not be using them again. I am so disappointed in the service I got from Empire Today. And it does no good to call the corporate office. They give me the feeling they don't care about you once they get your business.

Made an appointment for a tech to come and give me an in home estimate. The tech claims that he came to my house and no one was home. My Garage at the door on my house is wide open filled with tools, paint. I have 6 men working upstairs painting and drilling while playing music. I stood downstairs to listen for my doorbell... (which never rang btw).
I really really needed this quote today as I need to make a decision with another contractor and carpet installer. I get that we were the last stop of the night as he claimed to have showed up at 4:30pm and they stop at 5pm. But my guess he didn’t even attempt to a hold of someone in the house because maybe he just wanted to go home? I called customer service and the tech told them that no one was home... How is that even possible? I changed all my plans to turn in applications for water and trash to be here waiting at the house. I drove 1hr 30mins in traffic to make sure I was here... They tried to give me a $50 discount but I’m sure the job I would have hired them for would have been well over $5,000. I’ll pass on the estimate based off this experience.

We've used Empire Today before and we knew that going with them would be the quickest. So, we got a carpet from them which we had installed in one room. Their rep was great. He came to the house and had everything for us to choose from. However, they had a new product where you could get more service, like a warranty type thing, and we were never able to get that, which was fine. But it was a new product that they were selling, and we just could never make it happen. It was all good, but after he left, we were wondering if they had any deals going on for a second room or anything like that. And we just never followed up on it.

When I was looking around for companies to purchase from, Empire came out and was helpful. The salesman explained everything well. Everybody uses Mohawk flooring and they all had $100-200 cheaper than what everybody else was saying. They installed a mocha color board upstairs in the master bedroom and the two front rooms.
There was one issue that I had -- the underlayment of the floor was supposed to be a quiet step, and what was installed was not. I had talked to somebody, but at this point the floor has been installed. It’s kind of a big deal because I was supposed to get one thing and then I got another. But at the same time, I didn't know what it was. Nevertheless, the installation team got it done in a day. It took them five hours to do it. There were two spots where I thought they could have done a little bit better. But, other than that, as a whole, it came out pretty good. They vacuumed, but walking through it, after they left, it was still dusty. I thought they would come over with a microfiber cloth or duster to get it dealt with, but it was fine.

Compared to other companies Empire Today's quality was better for nearly the same price. I also liked the whole customer service approach where they brought the samples to my house and I could see it in the lighting and the colors within my house, versus tiny snippets from other places. They also weren’t gonna nickel-and-dime me for moving my furniture, which other places do.
We had carpet installed in the bedrooms and vinyl in a bathroom and laundry room. The installers were very professional. There was a lot of furniture to be moved, but they worked very quickly and hard. They never even took a break to eat. They took less than a day, which was longer than I thought but for the amount of work that they had to do, it was quick. I was very pleased. The flooring has gone beyond our expectations and we love it. The vinyl is nice and it’s not slippery like what we had before. The carpet is incredibly soft and squishy. The pad is awesome compared to what we had. It’s night and day. It gave our house such an upgraded appearance and changed the rooms.

I purchased my kitchen floors for Empire in Nov 16. Everything looked great. Earlier this year I noticed that my molding, as white molding does, beginning to look bad, even after wiping down with a wet cloth (dish detergent only). Then they started peeling, BAD! Then the wood tone moldings began to as well. The veneer was actually lifting away from the molding. Had a painter come to check for repainting the white, however they can't paint as the molding is actually a bendable cardboard product, not study at all. In some cases glue has been wiped on the baseboard and molding. Some even began to come detached from the wall. I've also discovered in less visible places, that there were repairs made with adhesive, that I wasn't even aware of. Call customer service and after 2 weeks of playing phone tag they advise not under material or other warranty. Awful!

There weren't very many good reports on the other companies so I decided to go with Empire Today. We had them install laminate in our master bedroom, and then carpet in my bedroom and the main living room. The installation went good. The guys that did the laminate was there one day, and the ones that did the carpet came the second day. When the guy came to do the estimate for me, I thought that he said that it was gonna be 200 and something a month for the 12 months free interest. However, I got the letter because it was going through Wells Fargo last month, and it was for 100 and something. Other than that, everything's fine.

I chose carpeting for my upstairs loft area and down my stairs through Empire Today. Their salespersons engaged and communicated very well. They identified themselves when they came to the door. The guys who came to install cleaned up and went over everything with me prior to and after they did work. It was a very good experience.
Working with Empire has helped me sell my house. Each of my bedrooms upstairs was re-carpeted by Empire and those who come love the colors. Over the course of the time that I’ve been using Empire, they have continued to improve. The first time, I used their service, the guys who came didn't have shirts that said Empire. Everybody who has come previously for Empire since then has announced who they were.

We had laminate floors from Empire Today put in four of our rooms. We looked locally and they could not get it done in time and we needed it done very soon so we could get my husband home from the rehab center to put a lift on the floor. That was very important to us and nobody around here could do the job for what Empire could do it for. They were able to come within 10 days. It has been four weeks now since my husband has been home so we had Empire in before that. I like that the lift worked on the new flooring and that it's a new decorating item in my house too. We were thinking about doing it in only one room. Now, we ended up doing four rooms and I love it.
I was here during installation and my sister came to keep me company. Three guys worked hard all day. They got here by 10:00 and were done by 7:00. I couldn't believe it because we thought it would take a couple more days. They did have to come back though and put in the right color. We were very satisfied with Empire Today. And my sister who was here certainly got in mind to get her flooring done with Empire too.

They hire anybody they can to install their crap and they don't even know them. This company needs to be out of business, i have pictures of the whole process of what they did, they destroyed our house then told us to call the insurance company and washed their grimy hands of it and left us with a torn up house. My hope is to have them in jail.

You wanna go with a company that’s well-known most of the time because their quality of work would be better than the others, which was why we chose Empire, but afterwards the price was the thing. We wanted to find something a little less costly so we shopped around to compare prices and Empire ended up matching the price that we found.
I thought the installers would be coming in with nice shirts and name tags, letting me know who they were. But when they came, they didn’t have any logos letting me know who they were. It was just a white van with carpet in it, which was a little disappointing. But the guys were nice and did a good job. The carpet looks and feels great. I also chose it because of the padding that they had. They had some new eight-ounce padding that I haven’t seen before and I liked it and the way it makes me feel a little extra cushion. I’m definitely satisfied.

I was not told that I was entitled to get a gift card for the other person referring me. I asked them that already, and they didn’t have a answer for me. When we had some issues with the nails sticking up on the entrances, they came and took care of it. And now, everything seems to be okay so far.

In April 2019 we had over $7,000 worth of laminate water resistant flooring put in our house with 10 year lifetime warranty and 1 year install warranty. About 2 months ago, we had a horrible rain storm. The water came in when we would open the door. The caulking they used to join the flooring to the door jam was spotty, not covering it all and water went under the flooring causing it to warp and buckle.
We contacted Empire who and after 4 phone calls (the minute I said warranty they would automatically say it wasn't covered) they decided it was worth it to come and look at - they previously were telling us that they don't cover flood; there was not a flood nor did we ever say we flooded. The install manager came out and said "the caulking was cosmetic and not water proof". Now, call me wrong, but believe that is the purpose of silicone caulk because we've have done home improvement jobs on our own and know how and when to use caulk. Spend your money and time elsewhere because Empire will not stand behind what they sell or say to you.
Staci, we’re not happy to hear this, and we'll be calling you tomorrow to make things better for you.

Empire Today installed vinyl floors in our three bedrooms. I found Empire to be more than 50% over the cost of the other two that I looked into. I really didn’t think it was going to be as expensive as it was. After I received the receipt that the rep gave me at the end, I compared that to other brands and I felt that it was way over what I really needed to pay for it. It was like three quarters more, but I've used Empire before.
I like the color of the new flooring. I don’t love the flooring though. It’s supposed to be like a floating floor. I had a floating floor prior to that. I had the laminate that I got from Empire as well, and it’s still in very good shape. As a matter of fact, I had a refrigerator delivered early of this year and they scratched it terribly, but it had a 25-year warranty, and I’m about halfway through that. And I’ve taken good care of it because the instructions were to make sure you didn’t let sand and dirt accumulate on it. You sweep it every day. And I would use the laminate polish on it at least every three months. So, it held up very nicely. I’m very pleased. But with this new flooring, I don’t know if they're going to last as long as those.
And as far as the workers were concerned, they were very professional. They got here on time. They took a very short lunch break and they completed the job faster than I thought they would and they were very pleasant. I was pleased with them. It was just that I thought the product itself was inferior to what I had seen at a more reasonable price. So, I was a little upset about that. And I didn’t understand about the quality of the material as it was explained to me because I didn’t see a lot of samples.

They came to our house and brought the sample where we could see it in our home rather than going from store to store and then trying to get somebody to install it. We got from them Accolade engineered wood and I like it very much. It has a good quality and it looks wonderful, and they did a nice job installing it in a family room.
The salesperson was fine but we were not happy with the customer service when we called them. There was a glitch. It was a switch on the day that it was supposed to be installed, and as it turned it out, it was the day that we were having a painting done in that room. My husband explained to customer service that date was not the date we agreed to and was not in the contract. The customer service person was certainly not very customer-friendly. At some point, it pissed us off so much, we said we would just cancel the order. He said if we canceled the order, we couldn't get a refund. My husband checked the contract and we still had time to cancel it.
I’ve dealt with Empire before and used them several times. They gave a very high price and when I asked them to call their supervisor, they came down to a more reasonable price. They lowered the price several $100. I think they ought to come up with their best offer right off the bat. I didn’t mind negotiating, but if I didn’t know that that was what they do, then I would be paying a lot of money and they would be overpriced. I don’t think they need to do that. I don’t think that’s the best business practice. But despite that and the customer service, I have been very satisfied over the years with their products and the installation. And we're having them come in on Wednesday to put some more flooring in.

We were looking at Lowe's or Home Depot and then just went through Empire on a whim to get a quote. It essentially came down to Empire offering a quote for the entire house where that quote would have been – for what I was looking at, covering just our living room, so it was a better bang for our buck. We had carpet installed in three bedrooms and engineered hardwood floor in the living room and a hallway. For the most part, the installation went well. They didn't bring enough materials, carpet or hardwood, to finish in one day, so they had to come out a second day, which was inconvenient 'cause we didn't plan for that. But they got it done and the work was done pretty well. Overall, the carpet's great. The hardwood floor however, hasn't settled. It's still floating in a lot of spots on the floor and we needed to see about getting someone out there to try to fix it or get it weighed down properly.
