The Empire Today salesman was very knowledgeable and got everything set up for us. We had a wood floor and carpeting installed. Empire Today should fire the first two guys that came out. One guy threw an 8-foot level on the floor and said, "This floor is too uneven. It’s more than half an inch off.” They then packed up and left. Empire Today had to bring out a second team to do the job, which set us back a week. The second team checked everything over and said everything was fine. They were really precise and did a wonderful job. The flooring looks wonderful. We had vinyl in from one of the houses built 25 years ago and it’s nice to see a fresh look.

We also had one little problem with the carpet team but that was just something that they should’ve known better. The carpet was installed fine and everything looks good, but to get a wire out of the way, they actually used a piece of duct tape to stick it to a painted wall. When they peeled the duct tape off, they peeled the paint off. Fortunately, it wasn’t a very old paint job and we had some extra paint and were able to touch it up. I told Empire Today about that when they called for a follow-up. Overall, the experience was very good.

We had carpet and vinyl from Empire Today for our Living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and two bedrooms. The agent was very knowledgeable and walked me through the process. I was very pleased with him. The installation day was good. We had two different teams. The carpet guys came out first and then the vinyl guys came out the next day and forgot to bring enough with them, and they had to go back and get some more. They were awesome and the quality was good.

I hired Empire to do my kitchen flooring. It was a complete disaster: had contractors come out twice to tell me they can't proceed with the job due to reasons from the warehouse manager. (That you can never get a hold of) My independent contractor called empire prior to doing his work and empire okayed it and agreed with what the outcome would be. I proceeded. Now empire is stating otherwise. You call customer service time pf trying to obtain service and they are persistent and helpful. After I was sold on it they ghosted me. Was unhelpful and I have to continue to inquire about items instead of being given information. I didnt expect to be sold on a dream. I am still waiting to get a call back from the mystery manager 3 days later. Walking on the subflooring. Thanks for nothing empire.

PLEASE READ BEFORE SIGNING THEIR CONTRACT! I wanted to update my house since I am retired and the home needs improvement. One of my daughters scheduled an in home consult with Empire at my house. I was encouraged to sign a contract that day, with the snowy weather I wanted to rush him out so I agreed to the terms. Upon the day of installation, the work extended into 2 days. Day 2 of installation was rescheduled twice, ending up with only 1 installer who finished the trim work as if he was just hired (very poor quality). Installers left the job site (inside and outside) with excess materials lying everywhere, screws and trash scattered around and a disaster of a "finished job" if you can even call it that.

Upon walk through the following day, all of my family members noticed incomplete trim areas, gaps in floor planks, huge gaps in trim seams, trim corners left with blunt, sharp edges, and colored caulk sloppily covering outer gaps in the perimeter. My daughters and I attempted several times to file complaints, also known as "tickets", requesting repairs to be done ASAP. Empire has a 1 year labor warranty that they said would cover these repairs. As the weeks passed, the market manager filed false statements claiming that he "messaged the customer confirming if she wanted the required warranty paperwork to fill out and submit, she declined stating she was satisfied with the work that was done."

Every attempt to call customer service or file a complaint to get someone to fix all of the installation issues resulted in them missing 2, TWO scheduled repair appointments. I now have a 3rd, yes a THIRD, installation repair appointment scheduled on March 16th which will be 2 months after the contract was signed (January 17th 2019).

Not one person, including supervisors and managers, can explain why the obviously needed repairs have not happened (please see pictures). I filed a complaint through the BBB, and Empire Today is still not taking responsibility for their less than professional job or taking action to fix it. I recommend anyone who is considering Empire Today to read lots of reviews including BBB comments and also to shop around BEFORE SIGNING ANYTHING with this company. Empire Today has responded to our BBB complaint several times stating "This complaint was filed by the daughter of our contracted customer. We've spoken to the contracted customer and she has no complaint regarding the flooring. We have offered service if needed under the one-year labor warranty."

Empire's promise detailed in contract: "Empire promises to perform all work in a professional manner and within industry standards. Empire will remove and transport away from my property any debris and waste materials that are generated by Empire, as well as any old flooring or other items that are being replaced, unless I ask them not to do so." The signed contract also states that "there are no written or spoken understandings changing or modifying the terms of this agreement".

Updated on Yeah right! As in my earlier review I mentioned the difficulty with Empire Today's customer service. NOW they simply respond here on this site how "disappointed" they are that I had a bad experience and would be in touch with me "shortly." I wonder if "shortly" means never because I haven't heard ONE WORD from these charlatans! THAT's how they responded!

Original Review: The problem began with a lying sales rep who claimed the installation was done by ET employees but instead 3 non-English speaking men showed up in a beat up van! After the installation I discovered some artwork that had been broken and placed BACK UP on the wall. They damaged new laminate flooring we installed the year before and they rolled our expensive coffee table damaging all along the edge leaving gouges. We may have new carpet but we’re left with costly replacements and the CS help? We were offered $50. After insisting more should be done we got $100 (which I haven’t seen) taken off of $1800 of ** carpeting which didn’t cover even one-fifth of the damages. These people are rude, their CS is low-brow and they are passing themselves off as affordable carpeting...More like carpetbaggers I’d say. Horrible experience! BTW, it took me over a dozen phone calls before we even got a response!

I contacted customer service and was transfer to many people. After several days of calling, I finally was in touch with the installation manager and the coordination team. It has been 3 weeks since I contacted them and I continue to call and email daily and I have yet had a resolution to this complaint. The customer service of this company is very poor. I have emailed pictures to the company showing them the installation and they have agreed that they will take care of it but I have yet had anyone come back to fix the problem. I will never use this company again They are very hard to get things done. I guess they say you get what you pay for. That's why they are cheaper than most companies. But I would rather pay a little more and know I have customer service that stands behind their product.

We had Empire replace our upstairs and stairway carpeting. Everything went really well. The gal was really nice and she brought out samples of kinda what we were looking for without overwhelming us, so the appointment went great. The installation went really well too. It was pretty smooth-sailing. The installation itself took four and a half hours. I’ve never seen any guy move that fast. There was right around probably 2,100 square-feet and it was a pretty big job. The initial appointment probably took an hour and a half. It wasn’t long. I like the feel of the carpet. If we have a spill, as long as I take water to it right away, it’s done. The stain-resistance is really good.

Recently received a quote from a salesman for just under $10k for multiple rooms in my house. Once installers showed up onsite, additional work needed to be done which was going to increase the cost. The salesman knew NOTHING about flooring or installation. The installers were even honest about the poor quality of the product. I cancelled my entire order.

Then last week I get an email offering the complete contract at a significantly lower price. After multiple emails back and forth, I stopped getting responses from the rep offering the lower price. Suddenly today, I get an email saying that because we didn't commit last week the price had gone up again. SHE STOPPED ANSWERING EMAILS - HOW COULD I COMMIT WHEN I WASN'T GETTING RESPONSES??? Don't use Empire. Call a local flooring store and give your business to a small working man. Empire is full of hidden fees and salesmen just trying to get their commission.

Prior to installation I lost my job and when I called to cancel was told I would be charged 15% of the total cost of the project. While informing the Cancellation Department Rep that I lost my job, his response was "Life goes on". I was told that people were always cancelling so Empire had to impose the fee. I contacted my Salesperson to remind him that he said I could cancel anytime and explain my situation. He said he would take care of the 15% charge and 5 days later I have not heard back from him.

I've had a terrific time purchasing from Empire Today and I've told that to many people. I've been here for 17 years. The other carpeting was clean but it was worn. Then I saw a commercial once and I called for no apparent reason. I bought a very pale, close to white base carpeting. It's wall-to-wall in the living room and dining room area. The guys took out the old carpeting and when they left, the place was clean. They vacuumed, hooked up my TV, and put the furniture back exactly where I want it. The carpeting's quality is very good. I have two cats, which vomit. I had an accident here, but it was very easy to get out with just water.

Empire Today's rep is great and a nice guy. He was very pleasant, very knowledgeable, and my age, too. We had wood floor installed in the main living room. It is absolutely beautiful. I've been wanting to do it for a long time. Carpeting is going out the window, so I wanted hardwood floors, and they yanked up all my carpeting. The installation was a lot smoother than I even managed. I am 85 years old. They moved everything out on the front porch. And they took their time, explained what they were doing, and when they were done, they completely picked up and cleaned up everything. In fact, they had two saws out in the driveway. When they got all done, they even cleaned up my car park and blow all the sawdust off. They did a marvelous job. I told Empire's salesman that this is phase one and I'll be contacting him for phase two as far as my master bathroom and bedroom.

I called EmpireToday to come out and give a quote for a project which consist of removal of old wood flooring disposal and installation of new wood floors. They had two different sales going on. As with any company the sale items are usually very limited in choices. I didn’t have a problem with that. The problem came in when When the final quote was complete. The Empire Today representative merely wrote down a number on a piece of paper and stated that was my quote. He never showed any pricing per square foot for any type of flooring nor was there a breakdown showing what was charge for labor vs product. I asked him how did he arrive at the total cost without showing any breakdown? If you cannot produce a price for your product, how do I know that I am receiving a discount?

It was equivalent to going to the supermarket and scanning a shopping cart full of food where you hear the beep for each item scanned but no prices appear on the register until the cashier pushes the total button and you are then given the total price for your order. REALLY? Who does that? I am leery of any salesperson who cannot produce how a price was arrived at or able to tell you the cost of the products that they sell.

We had a house in Florida and we used Empire Today for carpeting and wood floors, and they have always done a good and a quick job. So, we have always been happy with the experience we have had. When we moved up here in North Carolina, we had some carpeting in the back that had some pet smell in it and we needed to get rid of the smell. So, instead of doing carpet, we went with doing laminate wood floors again. The only thing that shocked me was the price difference between Florida and North Carolina. We did about 1,200 square feet of stained laminate wood flooring in Florida and it was around $7,500. We came up here and we had 500 square feet, and it was almost $6,000. So, there was almost 1,000 square feet difference but the prices were about the same. Nevertheless, the guys here did a good job.

One little thing is, however, is that we have crawlspace underneath, and that is how the cable extends through the house. They did not follow the hole that was there before in one of the bedrooms, so one of our dressers has to be about six inches away from the wall so it does not bend the cable. We did not notice it until about a week later. But, they did fine on the other rooms. I'm satisfied with the installation, but I'm not satisfied with the price. It was way too high compared to what we paid them for.

There was another company that was advertising but I checked with Empire first. Somebody said I should’ve checked with those and compared. I had vinyl plank installed in every room in the whole house although I wish that I stayed with my Hickory laminate. I let the rep from Empire talked me into the vinyl because of the bathroom. The Hickory laminate was my pick before the man ever showed up and even after he showed the other ones, I said that I liked my Hickory. I wanted it in the whole house including the bathroom. The rep said no because of the water. He said that we had to put something else in there. So, they showed me the vinyl plank and it looked like my Hickory but I have a picture that I took of his board, and he showed me a little square that he has on the board. I took a picture of that and I took a picture of the floor that was beside it on their picture. Everything looked shiny.

After I got back here and Empire had it all done, there was nothing shiny to it though. It looks just like my Hickory. It was the same basic color, just a little bit redder or darker than the Hickory. But that doesn’t bother me because I love the color. It’s just the smoothness of it shows all your footprints and it's hard to clean. You are constantly wiping around it or trying to dust it with dust mop. I’m 70 and I have congestive heart failure and my kids wanted me to do it so that I wouldn’t be cleaning the carpets and getting down on that floor that I had because it was all white. I wish I had stayed with the Empire Hickory instead of going with this, but I can’t do my whole house over again.

The installation team was wonderful. They were young and I was worried about that but there was enough of them so that my little dog and I could get back in. I was worried about how many days it might take them and what problems they might run into. But they had it all done in one day and they were straight through lines, which was great. The only thing is, they’re not plumbers. I had to have the commode looked at twice after they left because they had a problem with one commode. We were on the phone with their boss before they left because it wasn’t sealed. It moved when you sit down on it and so, it wasn’t straight. They went over to tighten the other one and that one began to leak a little. So, he talked to the guy on the phone again and then, they took something, fixed it and they had to saw the nuts off.

I had to call my plumber in because I didn’t wanna call them back because I knew they weren’t plumbers. I wanted a real plumber who knew what they were doing. My plumber tightened both of them for me and then, when I went to run the washer, the water wasn’t coming in. So, the plumber did that. I’m glad I tried the washer the night before the plumber come or I wouldn’t have known that and I had to call him back. But as far as the workmanship, the guys did a good job. I walked around with them and even the trims look decent. I was worried the trim was gonna be all marked up.

Also, I had to call and file a problem with Wells Fargo because my Empire contract had me down for 9.99 for 48 months. It was the contract that I signed and I have a copy of but when they gave me the bill for one year, after that, it goes 28%. I called Wells Fargo and they said that that’s not what Empire gave them. So then, I had to call Empire. I was supposed to contact them because the bank didn’t do anything. When I called the bank, the rep said that Empire hasn’t gotten a hold of them. I set up a dispute between us and right now, I’m waiting on somebody to get me started on my payment plan at 9.99 that I agreed to. I just want Empire to get this straightened up.

We had it done in two separate days because we did a kitchen remodel and we had to wait for that to be finished before we did the kitchen. They did the hall and the living room in one day and then the kitchen in the second one. Also, the rep we had was very thorough in explaining the products.

Purchasing from Empire was great. I got some vinyl hardwood planks flooring. Its quality is great. The installation went super easy, fast, clean, and effective. The flooring looks good. It’s strong, water-resistant, weather-resistant, and fall-resistant. It’s like gym flooring so it’s got that top of the line floor but it lives up to the name. So, I'm really pleased. Everybody I worked with was super polite, thorough, and dedicated in the product. I would use them again.

I contacted Empire Today because I had used them in the past, 3 1/2 years prior to be exact. At that time I had a great experience. I had engineered hardwood installed throughout my 2-story 3,000 sq ft home. They removed existing tile and carpet, leveled the floor, rearranged furniture and installed the new flooring in about 1 week. They completed the job for $12K, all cash deal.

Fast forward to today, bought a new house, a 1-story, 1,500 sq ft and discussed installing Vinyl due to having a pool. I offered to do the demolition and trash removal and they quoted me $15K!!! Half the house, half the work and almost a 60% increase in fees. When I advised that I was a returning customer and definitely had a better deal the first time, the sales representative just STOPPED communicating with me. What kind of business has Empire Today turned into? I will never use or recommend them again. Shoddy salesman, price gouging and poor customer service. Buyer beware! BTW, I found the same flooring, installed with all demolition and removal for almost $8K less than what they quoted. Keep looking.

My husband did some research online and saw that Empire Today was a reputable company and they had some great ratings. We originally got our bedroom done, and then we'll come in about six or seven months and have the living room, stairs, back bedrooms and upstairs bedroom done. We had to do some remodeling in the bedroom so since we had everything out of there, we figured we might as well go and put carpeting because that was a lot easier to do with everything out of there. So, we thought we would do that and then get the rest of the house done later. The man who came and talked to us and brought samples was really good. He helped us with choices, was very personable, down to earth, good one on one person to talk to. He gave us good advice.

The installers came and worked really quick. They cleaned everything up well. The only issue I have is it is a big room, and you can definitely see the separation of one part of the carpet from the other. I don't know if that would change over time with walking over. It can't be changed. With the kind of carpet that we chose and the size of the room that it was put in, we're gonna see a seam either way. I am a little concerned about what that's gonna do though with the rest of our house if all the seams are gonna show going into rooms. The living room would be fine, but because that room was such a large run, it was almost too long runs of the carpet. That couldn't be avoided, but I do have a concern about the next time we have it done if that's gonna happen with areas too. So, we'll probably go into the rooms. I'd almost like to ask them about it before they come out to do the rest. It's not that big a deal to me because it's our bedroom. Nobody goes out there except us.

Stay away. A consumer fraud suit is all I can say! In short, basically we have experienced all the same issues as the other complaints! It's their game.. Wrong measurements.. Well that's a lie. We had a few other companies measured as well. They were correct, yet, had to came back another day and then took all the extra carpet, leaving us with none. Hmm, go figure where that roll of carpet went. Plus we tiled areas where they measured and we paid for that carpet! Here's why they don't give you a sample of the carpet and pad you pick out... Because that's where the switch comes in. You get cheap pad when you paid for better or best and that carpet ..That looks like the one you picked..Is it? How do you no, no sample as with the pad! Another switch...

I finally spoke to a rep on these issues..His response..They were not going to do anything and the installers won't remember why they took the carpet! Wow! (there's more to the truth but we will pull that out in court, not going to let them know the main proof we have). I spoke with a consumer fraud attorney, if they do not come up with a number to settle this out of court, I'm going all the way. Hire 2 separate carpet companies on video checking the pad and carpet.. I will not sit back on this. They are taking advantage of the elderly and women that dont know. And trust me I will hit the TV station local news stories along with social media. For now I am advised for this to be my only notice along with a follow up email on my conversation with rep. This is their only chance to settle this case. This is consumer fraud! Don't be taken advantage of!

One day I got a call from Empire Today. Apparently, it was something I filled out online, and I got a call and the rep said to me about scheduling an appointment to come out, that I wasn’t obligated. And then, I said, “Okay.” So, Dave came out and we got talking. He was very nice, very pleasant to work with, and he helped me out a great deal because it was something that I needed to do. The carpeting in here was making me sick because it was old. That rug was in here for maybe a little over 20 years. It was time.

I went with carpeting in my living room and the thickest one is 55. Real thick and plush. And then, I went with laminate flooring in my dining room. And in the kitchen, I got the GVT tile. The installation was very professional. The guys were great. I had some heavy furniture that had to be moved. I couldn’t move it. I’m just a tiny, little thing. So, the guys came in. Everything was well open and clear for them to do the living room. I had two guys in the living room, and then the other two guys were here doing my laminate and tile. Everybody was busy doing something and it went very quick and well. They had the carpet down in no time. It was just a little bit longer for the dining room and the kitchen because the tile in the kitchen had to be done a certain way.

I am so happy with the flooring in here. It looks great. The carpet really brightened up the room. I was so nervous at first because I hadn’t took the time to compare the carpeting that was laid down in the living room to what was on the step, and so I thought, “Oh, Lord, it’s gonna clash. It ain’t gonna look right.” When they got here and when we started, they gave me a sample of it, and I put it down there on the step, I was so thrilled. I couldn’t wait for them to get it done. It looks so nice.

I've already told quite a few of my friends. They were like, “Oh, wow. It looks great. Where did you get it done?” I have no problem telling them, “I got it done with Empire.” I love the quality of the product. I like the look. The installation part of it was excellent. You can't beat the price because I've called around before I got that phone call, and others' prices were absolutely outrageous for what I wanted done.

The first guy came out, didn’t do what I'd paid for or what the sales guy had told me. And then, what he did was he screwed up things for the future and he took out a chunk of carpeting that now I had to replace with carpeting from the closet, and it's two different shades. It doesn’t look right because it hasn’t been walked on. We weren’t happy with the hole he had done and we're probably not going to do business again.

In the past, I had regarded about getting a carpet installed. It was just a matter of being able to afford it. We were able to get financing for it and that's how we were able to do it. We had carpet all throughout the home except for the high traffic areas. We had several square feet of it installed. The salesperson was very good. She was knowledgeable about the products. It didn't take too long at all. Most people would take a long time and go around and around. We had already done the research and told her what we wanted so we could narrow it down to her showing us just a few of the products instead of going through them all.

My parents were the ones home for installation, but it seemed to look good. We liked the darker brown color one and we had that installed. There were a few spots that may come up in the future, like there are some areas that have threads that are coming out. But we haven't done anything with it. We're just waiting to see what happens instead of nagging on it or pulling on it. We're leaving it alone just to see if it does have the warranty. But other than that, there was nothing that was left or wasn't completed. It looked pretty good.

If I could give them negative -100 percent I would!! We got our carpets and laminate flooring done about a year and a half ago. I totally regret getting it through them!!! Such a waste of money and time!! However, they were quick to installed both within 48 hours total. The quality of the products are poor. Carpets bunched up really bad due to the installation of the padding. So now we have overlapping carpets which is embarrassing. The padding shifted under the second connected layer of padding to create the overlapping effect. Definitely an installation mistake.

We are waiting until we pay off this crappy job to get them done by a reputable company! We called them about coming out and fixing it but it was just a week later after our warranty past even though it happen just 8 months in. Just never got the chance to call right away and the salesperson told us they would fix it when we called them. Made the mistake of not calling right away. They only will come out if we pay more money (COUPLE HUNDRED MORE), which is unbelievable. I will not pay them another dime.

Our kitchen and dining room with the laminate oak flooring, horrible materials. It is peeling and chipping. One little drop of water and it swells. For crying OUT loud IT'S a kitchen and should be able to handle a few drops of water. The saleperson should have been honest and not lie by telling us this type of flooring was ok for kitchen and dining room. I seen reviews before getting them to come out for an estimate. I should have listen because there were good percentage of customers who had the same experience. They do not stand by their products. I wish I wasn't such a good hearted person thinking everyone will experience something different and to have faith they will do a great job. Next time I will trust my gut feeling. Contracted with Empire Today to install new carpet, the manufacturer was Mohawk Industries. After vacuuming the first time I noticed a brown powdery residue collecting in my new white Shark canister sweeper. Contacted the company and they replied it was probably grout from the sub flooring. After months of texts with the sales rep, emails with our local and national office in IL, pictures and videos, they are now claiming it’s normal household dust. It started one month after installation and continues. I have had 2 respiratory issues after vacuuming so I’ve given up stirring up whatever this powder is.

With that kind of customer service with this senior citizen, well it’s just not right. I would steer clear of Empire Today. Their response was unacceptable. I priced a couple things outright and I ultimately went with Empire Today. The sales agent was good but I wanted something in a sheet vinyl or like a vinyl that had a decorative pattern on it, like that real fancy porcelain tile you see if you watch HGTV. He did not have any of those things in his car. He rolled in with wood, but I didn’t wanna go with a wood floor because I have hardwood oaks throughout my whole house, except for my bathroom upstairs which has ceramic tile. I didn’t think I was gonna find something close to my oak hardwood. But the last book we looked at had a reddish cast that was similar. It was darker than what I had, but it was complimentary to the actual floor coloring I have in my house. I went with that because I liked it immediately, but I also felt like I was being pressured. I didn’t think I was gonna get this man out of my house without agreeing to it.

The guys from installation were absolutely awesome. In fact, the one guy went above and beyond because the sales representative ordered the wrong color we wanted. The color floor I have is a reddish brown and he ordered an ash gray. The installers caught that and the guy had already called in and told them to get it ready before he even knocked on my door. There were two issues with my floor. One, I did not want a floating because I had an issue with a previous floating floor and the peel and stick wasn’t going to work with the floor that I had. I talked to the installers and the guy went above and beyond, assured me that I would not have any issues to the point of giving me his phone number and anything else I could possibly need in the event that I would have any type of problem, which I have not. The installers corrected the sales rep’s problem. They were amazing. Their work was phenomenal.

The installer ended up coming back the next day because once again, the sales rep did not order a cove base to go around the flooring, like the trim. So, he called Empire Today and said that they needed that and told me, “We’ll have it ready for you tomorrow.” The guy picked it up and installed it the next day. He did a really good job. However, in my mind, I overpaid for my floor. The salesman first quoted me $2,600 for it, which was way too much money. They did drop it down to $1,600, but then I found out from my sister they were running a 75% sale. The salesman never told me about that. It seemed he was more interested in making the sale. I kept saying to him, “No. That’s just too much money.” He said, “What if I did this? And let me call my manager. What would you think would be the price for it? What about 1,600?” I said, “1,600 would be more doable.” He came back in and said, “I talked to my manager and they lowered it to 1,600.”

Coming in at a really high price, and then going down off a grand was a bit shady to me. I’m still not convinced that I didn’t overpay for it. But the quality of the floor seems to be really good. I watched the installers and with the way they installed it, it was worth it. That 1,600 is roughly around the right price. Just to be able to walk in our kitchen and know that it was done, and it was done right, and that the installer was willing to guarantee that if I did have any lifting that he would take care of it. I felt like I’m paying for my peace of mind. I’m a professional cleaner and I just use vinegar and water on these type of floors, and it works.

We just had two of the bedrooms carpeted by Empire Today. Once the installers got here, they did a good job. They were in and out before noon, and I was very satisfied. I plan on doing our master bedroom and what I wanna do is part of that. There's an important area there that my wife has her desk and they don't wanna do in the laminate and I want the rest of it carpeted. I talked to their rep, Luke, when he came out and gave us his estimate that I didn't wanna get into all that work because I'm gonna repaint that area. I had painted both bedrooms before they put the carpet in, but I'm 80 years old, and I don't get around as fast as I used to. So, I just talked to him about putting that laminate in about a third of the bedroom or around that area.

My problem is I got one of those put-together bunks. It's a queen size with drawers underneath. I explained to Luke that I don't wanna tear that thing all the way down. So, I went down to Home Depot and I spotted these slider deals. Four of them are for the carpet and the carpet ones go on the laminate. My plan is to take all the drawers out and the mattress and put those sliders under there after the laminate went in. They could move the bed over there on the laminate floor and then finish up with the carpet. As soon as I get this other thing figured out, I'm gonna give Luke a call and they can come out here and see if they can get that master bedroom done.

In the afterthought, I wish he had a complete breakdown like how much the carpet was, the padding, the labor to put it in, the taxes, and so forth. That didn't happen and I was a little bit upset about that. I think it's something that should be done and a lot of consumers would appreciate it. I've had a lot of work done on my house this year and every single one had an absolute itemized breakdown of exactly each part.

My sister-in-law used Empire Today and she was satisfied with what had been done with her floor. So, I thought I’d try them, too. Their sales rep was good. She sat down and talked with me. She was pleasant and everything went well. I got vinyl that sorta matched the walls a little bit in my kitchen and when I first was gonna get the installation done, I discovered that there was moisture on the floors underneath the old vinyl. So, I had to delay having the new one put in so that I could have somebody come in, do mitigation, pull that up, dry the floor, and find out why moisture was underneath it.

But after I got that done, I called then the installers came and put in my new vinyl. Different things also came up that I had to attend to at the time, so it took a few months for the installation to be complete because I had to wait about a month and a half. But Empire's reps were patient with me. I was pleased as well with the guys that came out and took their time. They did a good job in putting it in.

We had laminate flooring installed by Empire Today in the living room, dining room and kitchen. The ads on TV and the very nice woman who came and lugged a bazillion heavy books into my house to show me everything made me decide to go with them. Since I know nothing about it, I thought they were absolute geniuses. The installation went amazingly well. I also have two little dogs which they coped with extraordinarily well. I love the final result a lot. My favorite is that it is so clean-looking. Before, we had carpet that had been taken up. We scraped it all off, painted the floor and it never looked clean. Overall, it was an easy experience.

I like the comfort because we went with the best padding. It doesn’t show dirt and it matches our furniture. It looks nice and we couldn’t have got anything closer. I would highly recommend them.

Absolutely terrible customer service. Nothing during the process was explained to us. Had an employee come out for measurements and an estimate and we were told we could have it installed the next day. When they called at 7 am they told us that someone would be at our house in 1-2 hours. The installer did not arrive until after 5 pm. They did not install the carpet, only took more measurements, cut the carpet and we would later schedule our actual installation.

Once our carpet was ready to be installed they called us and I returned their phone call 15 minutes later but the scheduler had already gone home. 3 days later I get a call asking when we would like to schedule our installation. After finally getting it scheduled, we again received a 7 am phone call telling us we were the second stop of the day. At 4:45 pm we received a call from the installer stating he was on his way. After 5 pm he arrived and had the wrong carpet. After calling the corporate office, everyone was home for the day and no resolution was offered. I have taken two days off work, paid $250, have no carpet and no timeframe for a carpet.

I had hardwood floors installed by Empire Today in every room downstairs except for my office area. I also had my master bedroom with hardwood. Then, I had carpet in my small office downstairs and in the bedrooms upstairs in the hallway. I love the hardwood floors and I like the carpet too. It's nice and plush. The installation of the hardwood floors was good. Eugene, the installer, was very good. He listened to any questions that I had. The flooring that I got had some wide planks and some longer planks and they were not all even. He asked me about the pattern and I loved the way the random pattern that he put down looks. His two assistants were good, too. They were professional and they respectfully put everything back. They even asked me where the furniture was placed before in each room, so it would go back exactly like it was. They also put sliders on the furniture.

The carpet installers, however, were not the same. They were a different crew and they did not put sliders under the furniture. They wanted me to have everything removed out of everything. Then, they threw things in a pile in a room, then did that room, and then threw things in a pile in another room. I had stuff from three bedrooms all over the place and stuff thrown in the closet, and nothing was put back like it was. So, it was very different between the carpet installers and the hardwood installers. There was also a transition in the bathroom that they took off and replaced, but the screws were not quite long enough and the carpet was plusher than the old carpet I had. So, it was loose and dangly. Because they had already left, Eugene then fixed that for me.

When the representative came out to the house, I was expecting a professional presentation and consultation, and that was exactly what I got. She went through everything and she made me feel comfortable. Their process seemed easy, as well as the one-stop shopping aspect of it. She made it not complicated. There was a real ease to it.

The installation went fantastic. I have never seen three guys work harder in my life. They never stopped working for a good 10 hours. They did the whole thing in one day. There was a bit of a language barrier, but we worked out okay. They explained things to me and they were terrific. They had one guy that spoke really good English and we were able to get through that. I love the end result of it. I’ve had some people over and a lot of them have been complimenting the job that they did. My experience with Empire Today has been what they were promising in their commercials all over TV, especially with the competitive pricing, the service and the follow-up. BUYER BEWARE. MUST READ IT ALL. On 1/22 we purchased floors to be installed on 1/27/2020 in our Delaware rental property. We drove up from Maryland (where we live) the night before. Salesman sold us floors was pleasant. We sign contract on his handheld device. He quickly asked for a deposit. He scanned our check with that device, which almost "IMMEDIATELY" withdraw $1018 from our checking account. My wife asked for receipt and copy of signed contract. He said would receive (within 24 hours) by cob 1/23. Call salesmen at end of day on 1/23, because we did not receive the contract or deposit receipt.

Called again early on 1/24, at end of day about no receipt. Call corporate 2 times late on 1/25 and 1/26 and still nothing. This is not good business and misconduct. Cannot believe with technology a receipt is not automatically provided after (writing check) deposit. More surprise no contract after 48 hours, which states how many days you can rescind.

On 1/27 the installers showed up on time. The 1st thing they asked for was FULL PAYMENT, over $4000 before starting. We needed floors installed, so we could drive 2 hours back to Maryland, for work the next day. After that… The installer said 1) They can install floors because house was too cold..WHAT (it was 68 degrees in house). Told them I can turn temp up and it will be warmer by time they ready to install 4 hours later, after deinstall. 2) They said pargo wood in bedroom was glued to concrete and contained asbestos. Took a picture and sent to his supervisor. He agreed and said it is not asbestos which is white, just "black" glue. 3) Then they said floors were not level (HUH) 4) Next they said salesmen mismeasured floor by 65 sq ft, and they did not bring enough floor.

So they completed the deinstall on 1/27 and said they had to go to dump. Will return tomorrow 1/28 for install (YOU KIDDING RIGHT). We had to take another day leave from work to wait for install on 1/28. Called corporate again to complain about their business practices (no contract, no receipt of deposit, cod before installing and not delivering the product because of installer concerns on 1/27). Asked that someone in management call me to discuss compensation. They NEVER called. NOTE: Please do not run into and issue. Customer services it the worst. They are the most MONEY HUNGRY and I mean MONEY HUNGRY company I have ever dealt with. I am 60 years old. Later that day on 1/27 I finally received my deposit receipt and contract in email, FIVE DAYS later...smh.

Installers arrived on 1/28 and on time. Only issue is that they did not have a mitre saw. They went to purchase one in Delaware. They installed the boxes they left the prior day. Did not see them bring any extra flooring boxes...SMH. Ask them if floors were level enough for install. They said the floors are level, no issue (SCRATCHING MY HEAD). The install went well after that. Thank the Lord. P.S. NEVERRRR AGAIN

    Reviewed Jan. 29, 2020

When we contacted Empire to look into having two small rooms and a living room floored with a wood-like flooring, we knew we probably wanted "luxury vinyl". We have friends that have it in their house and it looks fabulous. With dogs, it is really the only choice. The salesman knew his "stuff" and sold us by telling us about the company's reputation and warranties. The all-in-one nature of the company was also a big selling point, as we wanted it done fast and we wanted the work to be quality. We were told the furniture would be moved, the carpet removed, the floor leveled, the new floor installed, the trim replaced and quarter-round put in to leave a finished look, and the transitions would look "great". I am left with a cheap looking mess.

I am sitting in my living room now and, if I squint, the floor sort of looks like a wood floor. However, the transitions are big, plastic, eyesores that were originally barely adhered to the floor. They popped and moved when touched. The quarter-round was poorly cut with badly sawn bevels and haphazardly nailed into the existing trim work. Then the installers squirted a little caulk over the holes and left it to dry in blobs in a messy, ugly manner.

The original builders of the house undercut the fireplace brick at the floor level and there was a gap between the bottom of the brick and the concrete floor. The installers had no solution for that and decided to just fill the gap with clear caulk, which shines in the light and looks terrible. There was also a section of the floor in front of the bathroom that was not leveled and sank in when we stepped on it. In general, it looked terrible. I wasn't home when they installed, but my wife was. She thought it looked pretty good at the time and was just happy to have it done, but didn't notice the details. When I got home, I flipped out. I immediately called and sent an email to complain about the many issues I could see right away.

I did not get a response to my email or my call, but I did get an email to leave a comment about our install experience, which I did. I receive a call right away after writing about the things I was upset about. The woman who called, did so because she thought I had written an online review like this one. I had not, because I wanted to give them a chance to make corrections first. She kept claiming I had written a review. I continued to correct her and say that I had just written a comment on their customer form and had responded on their forms and phone lines, but that I had not commented on social media or review sites.

She then asked me to tell her what was wrong with the install and I did in detail. She arranged for the same installers to come out the following Monday on our day off to correct their mistakes. I told her that they would need to be at my house early, at 8 and be gone by 11 because I had an appointment at 1:00 p.m. She called just before the appointment to tell me that they couldn't be there until 2 or 3. We rescheduled for today, Jan. 28th and they arrived right on time.

When the installers arrived, they told me that they could not do anything about the fireplace undercut, the nail holes in the quarter-round (aside from cleaning them), or the fast transitions. Of course, I knew they couldn't do anything about making the quality of the flooring look any better. They did attempt to level the floor where there was a dip; however, after leaving, I found a new area just a foot away where they had made it un-level in another spot after attempting to level the original bad spot. The installer pulled out the metal brackets under the transitions because he couldn't get them to sit flat, and chose to just glue them straight to the floor instead. I do not have hope they will stay that way.

I guess they did the best they could with what they had and what they are told to do. The installer told me, "we don't paint or finish the quarter-round", which is not what we were told by the salesman. I signed off on the little things they corrected, but I am still not happy and feel like I have wasted a whole lot of money. If I had to do it again, I would not choose Empire. The finish work is not good and I believe this is as good as it gets with this company. I now have to live with this. I blame myself for not researching more. That is why I give them 2 stars instead of 1. I own part of this and will give them a star because of that.

My sister had done some carpeting at her home in Indiana, and I thought it was fantastic in the price she had paid. So I called Empire and a gentleman came out. The salesman was very kind. He did the initial measurements and went over everything with me. He took his time and answered all my questions. On the day of installation, the crew came out. They were very professional and did everything. We did run into a problem at the end. When it came time to sign the completion papers, I noticed that there was nothing due from me. I couldn't understand that as when the initial salesman came out, we had talked about financing. I told him I wanted to put a certain amount down. When he wrote the receipt from Empire, he had written down the balance that was due. He informed me that when the service people come out, I would give them the check for the money I wanted to put down. That was when things got crazy.

The guy couldn't understand why I was trying to give him the money, since I'm not supposed to collect anything. I told him it was not the agreement we had agreed on. I got my receipt and showed him. I said that this was almost a $1,900 job here and I was putting $1,000 down and left the balance of 895. And that's the way the salesman had written it up and I showed him that receipt. I told him that I was supposed to give him a $1,000 check that day. He was still confused. He would not take my check, and he ended up calling some office. And then I got very angry and upset. I thought that what he did next was very rude.

The gentleman who came in to do the work was Hispanic, and there's nothing wrong with that. He had been here for about a hour or so, and had talked English to me the entire time. But when he gets on the phone to begin talking to whoever it was he was talking to, he stood in my living room and the whole conversation is in Spanish. I didn't understand what he was saying. So I told him that I needed to understand what he was saying.

He ended up having to get my banking information and my card number, so they can get the payment. I ended up writing him a check. At any rate, we did get it worked out because I did talk with the young lady and I explained to her what we had gone through with the initial salesman and what I was expected to pay. She told that I was okay for $8,000. I said her I understood all of that. And then she told me that I was down for the full amount to be financed. But I argued with her that I didn't want it financed for that much. I told her I'm putting it down, and then finance it. That was when I got upset. It went absolutely crazy in the end. I felt like I was being pushed to finance the entire amount, and I kept telling the young lady that was not what I wanna do. But other than that, their salespeople and the crew that came out were fantastic. I like Empire's product and the service was great.

When the rep came out to look at the carpet he told me he would install the carpet as is but then the carpet was put over the flooring beneath the carpet which led to a bad installation- a high area at at the entry to the room and bathroom, well over the past few months the carpet has become frayed and tattered at those point of entry. Empire will not fix or stand behind the job. They did offer to "fix it for $1000" that was the solution basically telling us to go pound sand or pay more money. I thought a bigger company would want to do the right thing. They should have warned us before the sale and install that the carpet would be broken down so fast and the high area at the entry would lead to aesthetic, material break down and fraying etc... I would not use this company for any flooring needs.

The salesman that came to our house was a scumbag. He must of seen us coming. We had carpet installed in two floors of the house and it is great! We got laminate flooring in the whole downstairs. The salesman said these floors were waterproof, scratch resistant etc. I had the floors installed in September and they’re peeling, lifting and bubbling all over the house. Where every seam fits together with the next piece of laminate looks like they’re lifting. So they had the installers come out and they told us they wouldn’t give us our money back because they would take it out of their checks.

With that being said I’ve been waiting since before Xmas to hear from the “manufacturer” because it’s a “manufacturing” issue. We were quoted $6700 but Lowe’s quoted us $4400. So they matched and these floors and if I knew this I wouldn’t of bought them. They aren’t even worth half! I was told by a friend not to go with them and I should of listened. Floors only being 4 months old and shouldn’t look like this. I’ve bought floors from Lowe’s and lumber liquidators (which were recalled) and never had this issue in the slightest bit. So with that being said I’m still trying to get my money back. I will call my lawyer if I don’t hear back from them by this Monday because you can’t lie to people and sell them this trash!

Empire installed a floor in my home. After three years it now has to be replaced, my expectations was that I would not have to replace the floor for at least ten years. The salesman promised me the floor was water proof. When the inspector came out to assess the floor he measured the moisture at 37%. When overlooking my warranty to see what is covered it only provided me with what it is NOT covered. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!

The rep who came out was great an she did her job in record time. I knew exactly what I wanted and she had the samples with her, then we measured it up and we were done. The quality of the product is great as well. It’s what I had in there before and I just needed it replaced. I like the style, too. It’s real well-knit.

When the Empire Today lady came out to show me the carpet, I was amazed at the number of samples she had with her. Through no fault of her own, she made a second trip out here because I was dragging my feet and I really appreciated that. I was considering some carpet from Lowe’s and Empire Today's price was very competitive. What closed the deal for me was that they had the material on hand within a day or two and the installation was taken care of within about three days. Whereas Lowe’s was gonna take about three weeks to get the carpet and another two to three weeks to get it scheduled for install. The installers who came were professional and in and out very quickly. And they cleaned up when they left. I had a living room carpet installed and I'm satisfied with it. It's what I'm looking for in carpeting. I'm very pleased with the overall experience.

If I had known it was gonna be that late, I could have gone out that morning and done something. Still, when the crew came, they were very professional and did the job. Now, I'm enjoying my flooring.

TL:DR: DO NOT WORK WITH EMPIRE. My sales associate came to my house and gave me a quote that was fair and we were going to move forward with installation the next day on replacing the carpet on my stairs with vinyl planks. So I took off of work. Around 9am I began calling my associate and he was confused as to where the installation team was, I got a call back from him that they would be calling me once they figured out what was going on. Customer service called me at 11:35 AM to say they weren’t going to come at all because they didn’t have all the materials (mind you the day before my associate was able to book the appointment only because the system said that we’d be good to go (meaning they had everything)).

I asked this woman to assure me that they would show up the next day with all materials and she did. Que day TWO taken off of work. Install team shows up around 9 to tell me the 1-2 day job I was quoted would take 3-4. And when I questioned this they told my sales associate “didn’t know what he was talking about” and “was clearly new”. My associate has been with empire over 15 years. I told them I had an event at my house in two days and needed my stairs done. He said it couldn’t be done, I asked about the first flight as it was the only one my guests would see, he said no and that he’d produce a lot of dust which they were only responsible for cleaning on the actual stairwell.

He then asked if my house was new construction, it is. It was then that he stopped using jargon to explain things once he noticed that I was actually following him and knew the terms and he wasn’t going to confuse me (side note, do NOT have installers come to your house if you are a woman without a male present. It's ridiculous that in 2020 I have to say this but his attitude towards me was condescending and very Man-splain-ish.) After saying that my house was a new build he said “why didn’t you just have hardwood put on your stairs to begin with?” I replied that, "Now I clearly wish that I had".

After the long song and dance turns out that they didn’t bring the necessary trim to do a single step. I asked if this trim was special because of my stairs which he already said he’d need to do some build up work on anyway, he replied no and that this was necessary for any job. Long story short… they showed up with NO INTENTION to begin working as they AGAIN did not have what they needed.

Obviously at this point I am LIVID. I call customer service who also I had found out at this point had double charged me on the deposit. They offered no relief other than to give me the $250 off. Before you think this was significant this was OVER A SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLAR PROJECT. I told them about the multiple days of work I missed and the ridiculous runaround and they said “…we’ll get back to you….” They called me back the next day to say “well there was going to be an upcharge to build up your stairs which we can waive.” But that there would be NOTHING done about current balance. At this point I cancelled the project. Someone from customer service reached out to try and save it still waving the $250 flag and I said no.

After getting quotes and discovering Empire had bought their biggest competitor in Chicago, I EXTREMELY RELUCTANTLY called them back to reinstate the order. My associate entered in the order and apparently inadvertently applied the friends and family discount twice. Again in the scope of 7500 an additional 250 was not obviously apparent. Also somehow now the process had changed and now instead of owing a 10% deposit I now owed a 25% deposit!!!

Fast forward to today, DAY THREE missed from work and no install team…. My associate was so upset at how customer service had treated me before that he was actually waiting outside my house for the install team to make sure everything went correctly!!! And guess what...it didn’t. We had been conversing back and forth since before 9 AM and at 10 o’clock he tells me the reinstatement team never reinstated the order. I call them and they say they only see the cancellation from the first time, I directed the lady’s attention to the $1800 I had JUST PAID 5 days prior. Her response was “oh I do see that” and that she was going to have to transfer me. Turns out since the system saw the same deduction twice it flagged the order.

Did anyone call my associate? No. Did anyone call ME? OF COURSE NOT. I have now wasted 3 of my PTO days (mind you this all occurred over the holiday/ beginning of the year season) and I was unable to travel the way I wanted to because my days had to be used for this. I had my home built from the ground up; I have dealt with every type of contractor possible. I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO DISRESPECTED IN TERMS OF BOTH MY MONEY AND MY TIME AS EMPIRE. Before this review seems as though this is my first complaint. I gave this review to empire not once, not twice, but three times over this process. Nothing ever changed, and I even had one associate tell me he couldn’t tell me when his supervisor would call me back because “he outranks me so I can’t tell him what to do or to get back to you by a certain time.”

Now that the Installation has actually begun. I see that there is a lip between the flat plank and the stair nose plank. It is enough of an edge that when I ran my hand across it I felt the lip scrape on the bottom of my hand. The installers insisted that this is the way it is always done and that the other stair nose they have as an option has an even larger lip in it. Given that I chose this flooring type for its durability and waterproofing I’m skeptical that any moisture or dust won’t just immediately collect here when it hits the step.

Now that the stairs have been installed I asked the installer before he left why they were flexing and creaking. I was told that since it is cold outside it would take even longer for it to dry, and that it would be 2-3 days before they were final. It has been 6 days and the stairs are still creaking and making a cracking when you step on them. I also never received the paperwork detailing my warranty or how to address any future issues, his response? “Oh, they didn’t give it to me.”

I recently had a vinyl kitchen floor installed (12/2019). The salesman came quickly and the appointment to install was scheduled right away. So far- so good, although the price was a little high. I was expecting Empire employed professional installers. Not so. They sent an independent contractor who was nice, but the crew was far from professional. Smoking right outside the front door with the door open, etc. But I was willing to look past that.

Immediately after they left, I noticed a big scratch in the floor and several large chips in between the sections of flooring. Furthermore, the cove base looked like it was installed by my 5 year old. Look at the pics to see how poorly installed the floor and cove base was. I immediately contacted Empire and they scheduled someone to come look at it. Someone showed up and said he was there to tear it up and replace it that day, although they framed it as they were just sending someone to inspect the damage. I had to work and was not informed that he was there to tear the floor up, so I asked to reschedule for when I could clear my calendar. I called to reschedule and was informed that it will cost me $1,000 to have it repaired!!!! I have contacted several people, and the managers will not get back to me. I am so livid with the shoddy, overpriced work with no resolution that I am in the process of filing a complaint with the BBB. Please avoid at all costs!

To say I am disappointed with the overall customer service is an understatement! Nearly a year ago I purchased flooring and installation for 3 rooms. One of the floorings I chose was based on the information I was given, which was that this particular flooring could be installed on the stairs at an additional cost which I agreed to pay. Two days later the floors were installed apart from the stairs as the installers advised that it was not possible to install this flooring on stairs. I called Empire immediately and for a few weeks they tried to resolve the issue, but after that I only heard from them when I reached out to them. Finally we agreed I would get a refund for the stairs. That was the end of October. Surprise, surprise I then heard nothing, they didn't even respond to my emails.

Finally I paid someone to come out to sort my stairs to match my floors. I reached out again to Empire and someone did contact me offering less money than originally agreed. I explained it was less than originally agreed and far less than it had cost me to correct their incompetence. Well guess what? I am still waiting for them to get back to me!!! If you want a company that stands by what they say and have exceptional customer service DO NOT USE EMPIRE!

Carpet was installed in our apartment – the whole area except for the kitchen, the stairs and both bedrooms – and the product is lovely. The two guys who came out to install were wonderful. I own a painting company and that’s how our guys are. They come up in an unmarked truck and usually they’re foreigners so I'm very used to that and I prefer that. But I can see how other people in other areas might want magnets on the car or at least a shirt that says something about Empire. That aside, the installation went wonderfully. I hadn’t paid so the installers were a little worried about that but they still installed it. I was thankful that they weren’t like, “Oh yeah, we have to come back.”. But then I paid five minutes after I got a hold of my rep and it was good.

We had the Sunnyside carpet installed. It was silky soft and within our price point. We've had two different installs. One was for the stairs, our bedroom and the hallway. That one was great. Then a month later, we did our daughter's room. But even though it said that it was the same carpet, the carpet in her room feels way different and it sucks. I was really confused.

We had a funky, awkward meeting with the lady that did our original quote. She was very pushy and when it came time to have the second carpet installed, I went online. I went in and did it myself. I don't know exactly how she found out that I had re-done it, but she noticed that we had an appointment that day and happened to be in the office. She called me first and said she was really disappointed that I didn't call her. She kept sighing, hemming and hawing. It was awkward, and she ended up coming to our house that night. The next day, Empire Today called up and asked why we didn't purchase it that night. I pretty much told them what happened, and they asked, "What if we could do this and get you another person?” I said, "Let’s do it.”

Empire Today installed luxury vinyl plank and carpet in our living room, bedrooms and hallway. I liked being able to easily get it all scheduled lumped together, to do the vinyl plank and the carpet in one and the fact that they can get out so quickly. Cost was a factor too in going with them. It was on the carpet side of things, not so much on the luxury vinyl plank. They were a lot more expensive than I could've gotten, but I liked the option that they had that we ended up going with. The look of it is exactly what I wanted.

I like the look of the vinyl, but the carpet is generic. I could’ve found something like that elsewhere. But the vinyl plank that they had, I couldn’t find it anywhere else. But I was a little disappointed. I thought it was gonna be thicker than it is, which caused issues like having to lower the baseboards. I just had the house painted, so now, I got all these exposed unpainted sheetrock that I still haven’t had the chance to get back to. And it didn’t line up quite as well with some of the existing flooring, which I thought it would. Because when the salesman came out, the sample shown was with the subfloor attached to it, which I find misleading. So, I didn’t like that. But ultimately, it was still a consistent thickness with a lot of the other products on the market, so it was something I would be able get around with.

The salesman made a point to say that it is very durable and scratch-resistant. I looked for comments about things like that online versus other products and so far, it has met our needs. It would be hard to find much better service. The installers seemed to be respectful of the home. They were in and out very quickly. They did a great job with the luxury vinyl plank. All the cuts that they made looked really clean. The installer went out of his way to make sure the plank direction was gonna be what we wanted and made sure the baseboards were all cleanly placed back. They took them off and then put them back. So, they did a great job on that.

So far, this is my first experience with putting in new carpet and the carpet would’ve been a bit cleaner. The edges have a lot of little strings and stuff to clip back, and the seams were more obvious than I thought they were gonna be. There are little threads and things sticking around. When they said it was gonna take two to three days to install and it was done in less than a day and a half, I thought they could’ve spent a little more time. Nevertheless, the foreman was really good.

We got the best carpet and we didn’t realize how nice it was until it was put down in our two bedrooms. It is so nice and plush. The carpet that was in the house was old. It was like a 70s shag. The rep gave me the standard padding for the carpet that we got. Their standard padding was higher than what the normal standard padding is. It was like a six or something so it was very good. The only problem I have was the fact that the rep did not measure well. When the installers came to install the carpet, they didn’t have enough of it. They had to come back and finish. That was the bad part. Other than that, the installers were great. They were quick and very professional. I would buy from Empire again for sure.

I was approached by some other places, but they were high. When the mother of a friend of mine had a floor put in, I asked her who she used and how much it cost. She told me the price and that she used Empire Today. Their floor was great, and she said she was really pleased with everything. The cost was a lot better for the same things that I wanted from the other places. So, I called them. The sales guy that came out was laid back and very informative. He answered my questions and showed me what I wanted. I had to reach out to him a couple of times and he responded quickly back to me. He was good. The installation team was great. They came in and put the flooring in. I love the floor, but one section was buckling. I told them about it and they're coming to fix it today.

Updated on: 01/17/2020: After speaking with customer relations I was basically told that what they installed is it regardless of what I was promised. Be very careful about using this company. Just think about. This Empire's own customer relations dept said this to me. I will be updating my reviews on this company weekly. Seems like a company this size would appreciate good customer service. Be real sure of exactly what you want. Brandon ** one of their very dishonest salesperson lied multiple times to me. He said whatever I wanted to hear. And they praised the salesman for it. I hope no one else has to go through this.

Original: I spoke with a Brandon ** an employee/Salesman for Empire Today. I had some questions about the product. I asked about the thickness of the vinyl. He told me it was 6.5mm. Also, told me that the installer would install my new toilet since the toilet had to be removed. After half of the living room was completed I read the labels of the product boxes. I was very upset to learn I had been lied to. The vinyl was much thinner than I was promised. And I had to install the toilet by myself which was difficult. I'm handicap with use of only one arm. I spoke with a young lady about this matter and she told me I would receive a call back within 24 hours. I trusted your salesman. You guys didn't install what I purchased and you owe me the difference. Why this salesman would bald-faced lie to my wife and I is crazy. Had a family member help me with the toilet. I'm very frustrated. I came to you because I thought I could trust you. Lied and I was purchasing almost 12,000 dollars worth of floor.

I had seen a lot of the television commercials and I called Empire Today first. The rep was very nice, so I didn't even get another quote. I had them install the best quality luxury vinyl planking floors the whole upstairs. It made a big difference. I have rowdy dogs, so having the nice waterproof floors that still looks great is a nice value for the home. But the original measurements for the flooring didn't match what the installers found. So, that was good and bad. It took them an extra half day because they had to get more materials from the warehouse. But it really made me like the company because I didn't get the most expensive, and they didn't charge any extra when they found that more materials were needed. They honored the original estimate, and I thought that was great. I really like the floors, and the installation was really smooth and good.

As for the installation, every other crew was wonderful aside from one person. There was an issue with the floor and instead of him solving it, he refused to do the work, left, and blamed it on me. But all the other crew that did the work were very efficient and they did everything they needed to do very quickly. There was an issue with one of the rooms that I had to get additional work done on it and they had to come back. It went very well. So, they finished the work and they absorbed one of the additional costs. Empire is very easy to work with and accommodating. They get in then get out, and it doesn't drag on.

Then when we resisted and said we had to wait for our other estimates to come in, they dropped the price by almost half. It ended up being the lowest estimate so we went with it. The installer was very nice but I was disappointed with the whole process. He arrived very late in the day and stayed until after 9 but didn’t finish and had to come back the next day. He also didn’t have enough carpet to do 2 of the closets that we payed for.

My husband told him it was fine because he didn’t want him to have to come back a third time but I am not happy about the closets not being done. My husband used to install carpet and we are concerned about the process used. There was no gluing or stapling of the pad so we are worried about shifting over time, especially with the large seam that goes right through the middle of the living room. Also it’s only been a few months and there is a large area lifting from the wall in our hallway. Overall for the cost, I wish we had gone with a different company even if it cost a little more.

We noticed 1 week ago that the corner top layer of one of the boards was lifting. We contacted Empire about repair. When their customer service representative (Emily) contacted us, she did nothing but tell us we were out of install warranty and manufacturing warranty may not cover due to water/ moisture damage. She refused to send a flooring specialist out to our house without charge to determine if it is an installation problem or manufacturer problem and to give us a professional opinion, even to give me an estimate to repair if due to installation (which we would be responsible for).

I have lost all faith in their representation and now am stuck with a 4000.00 floor that is lifting. I am forced to contact the manufacturer myself for warranty information as Empire refuses to advocate us regarding a product they sold and installed. Poor customer service. It would have been so easy to send someone out to look at it without incurring additional cost to me. I would of used them for repair if needed but will seek installation elsewhere and will tell everyone we know, NEVER to use Empire for their flooring needs.

Empire Today is generally good. They got good workmanship, they were quick, and they knew what they were doing. The floors left are good. One drawback was that they didn't put like plastic sheeting over everything. I didn't realize how dusty it gets. But I had microdust over everything on my ground floor, furniture, countertops, and everything. And so, I had to hire a cleaning company to come in and dust everything down, and that cost $345.

Empire is really nice. I called them back, and they credited my hardwood flooring installation with that amount so it didn't cost me anything to get those folks in. But going forward, they should have their teams take plastic sheeting with them so when they do that, it doesn't cost the company or the customer. That was kind of a big deal at the time because I felt like my house was really dirty and microdust gets everywhere. I had a bit of a problem with that but the cleaning crew did a great job. The house looks really nice now and we still love waking up to the new floors.

I have two cats and I was trying to explain to them that if they did the bottom floor bedroom, I could put the cats in there and then they would have access to the entire house. But they decided to go into each and every room, so I was continually running after my cats because I couldn’t keep them locked up.

I had rugs installed in all the bedrooms plus the living room and stairs. The work is fine. The padding has like little rocks in it, they're not rocks but that's what they feel like. I explained it to the people that were here installing and one guy said to do nothing but the other guy took a hammer and started pounding them out. He said that’s what I have to do, pick up a hammer and pound it out. It’s cheap carpeting and I knew that. But the padding was the middle grade and I didn’t expect to feel rocks in it. When I walk in the carpeting, I hit one and it feels like a rock underneath. If someone had shoes on them, they probably wouldn’t notice, and these guys didn’t until we pointed it out to them. We don’t allow shoes in the house. So, it's a weird feeling every day.

We got hardwood floors installed on the second floor of my home. Empire was the first one that we contacted, and they had the color match of the hardwood to the existing hardwood that was installed in the home when it was first built. And they had the same finish to the hardwood floor. The other group that we checked did as well in terms of the color match but the finish was a little different. Our new flooring exceeded our expectations. We’re very pleased with the installers. The actual people that came and installed the hardwood did a fantastic job. It took them two days to get it done.

The whole communication process that my wife and I had to go through with Empire management was frustrating. Empire was offering two different financing packages. One was 12 months, no interest. The second one was 24 months and there was some interest rate along with that. And we didn’t go with that because the interest rate was way too high. My wife and I wished to pay in 12 months. And part of the whole process in terms of getting to the point of installing the hardwood, we understood that we had to put at least 30% deposit on the total price of the product.

Empire was trying to finance through Wells Fargo. So, to do the financing, you gotta go through that application crap. My wife and I were joint on the application. And this goes back to the frustration that we had with Empire management where on two separate occasions, we submitted the application, neither me is primary or my wife, but both of us were on it in terms of the application. And Empire management came back to us twice and said we were denied. But I got a phone call from Wells Fargo, and a few days later, I got a letter in the mail from Wells Fargo with an Empire credit card and an account that’s been opened under Wells Fargo for Empire where we’ve been approved.

My wife and I have the money, so we went through a completely different route or source to put down payment and to pay it off at the completion of the installation. We did not go through Empire or Wells Fargo. We were trying to do it through Empire and Wells Fargo. Empire blew it in terms of financing. There was completely incorrect, inaccurate information that Empire management was giving the sales representative and to us.

Wells Fargo called me because I have my home mortgage through Wells Fargo. And a couple of days later, I got a letter in the mail from Wells Fargo saying, “Here you go.” And it was an Empire credit card that says, “Your account has been established. You have $8,000 worth of credit.” All I needed was 7,000. Empire still completed the work and got the business, but someone at Empire needs to figure this out because there’s a good chance with thousands of dollars for business, in terms of either carpet or hardwood, they could’ve lost this business. They could’ve lost all this money because someone at Empire couldn’t figure out why Wells Fargo had approved it but someone at Empire, twice now, said that it was disapproved. Empire is very fortunate that my wife and I had the ability to finance it another way to get the product that we wanted, but not everybody has that ability. So, if they don’t figure this out, they’re losing business.

We had used Empire before when they put down some hardwood floors for us. The product was good, the service was excellent, and the prices were very good too. We bought a house and have gone through and remodeled it, painted it, and did a lot of upgrades in it. The people who owned the house prior to us had a dog and a cat, and so the house had old shaggy-looking, dingy carpet. It was time to get rid of that and we wanted to get the house cleaned up and put new carpeting down. So, I got Empire again a couple weeks ago to put in 4 rooms of carpeting. The carpet is hypoallergenic and pre-padded, and was put in 2 guest bedrooms, a master bedroom, and my guy room.

We had a wonderful interaction with the guys who came to the home to install and they did a top-notch job. They got there about 9:00 that morning and that afternoon by 5:00, all the furniture was all back in place and the carpet was all down and had been vacuumed. They scrubbed the cement foundation real good, and then they put the carpet down, and they vacuumed it real good again. I even called in to Empire and told them what a great bunch of guys they were and what service they did.

I don't understand how Empire is still in business. Sales guy came and that was fine. He brought samples and measured with a laser gadget, outlined a detailed floor plan and contract with all sorts of notes on what our room would entail carpet wall to wall. Note that it's not a complicated room but items such as carpet NOT going in between the stair banister legs was discussed and in his notes. (More on that later). We live in a concentrated part of Boston where parking is a challenge. I ALWAYS bring this up when there's any type of service or delivery in my neighborhood. Again, in the notes and according to the Empire sales guy, 'won't be a problem, we deliver all over Boston....' Scheduled installation for a couple weeks later on a Friday. I was a bit irritated that Empire couldn't give me a window beyond 8am to 6pm up until THAT morning when it was reduced to 12-6. Ok....fine. Should only happen once. But still didn't love that.

I called Empire at 4 to see where they were in the schedule because I had to step out for 20 minutes. The switchboard reminded me that they have until 6pm but would call the actual drivers/installers (gee, thanks). Switch did and '5:00' was the answer. Cool- so I stepped out for 20 minutes, came back and continued waiting. 6pm no one. I called Empire. Switch tried to remind me that they had until 6pm. I reminded him that he's in Chicago and I'm in Boston so it's AFTER 6pm my time. Where are they? No call to me from the drivers so far, by the way. Switch called the drivers again. Not sure what happened to 5:00 but at 6:10, they said "20 minutes". At this point, it's Friday night and I'm looking at having installers in my bedroom until 10-11pm. Again, fine, I'll suck it up because it should be a one time thing.

6:55pm a van finally rolls up to my apartment. It's drizzling. Two guys get out of the truck and the first thing said to me was "Do you want to reschedule? It's raining". What??? I've been waiting all day, these guys could have called me WAY earlier than this to reschedule and EMPIRE Switchboard, or someone at HQ, could have managed the process if they knew the rain was going to be a problem (although, I think that's ridiculous and will hold my expletives at bay) and if the installation just couldn't be done that day. Same guy then asked "Do you have a garage?" At this point, my blood pressure jumped because, as mentioned, that's something I addressed already with the sales guy and was assured, 'it's not a problem'. I stated that they're here now and that I want the job done, period.

Took them upstairs and it was like they had no idea what the job was! Remember those banisters? They were looking at them and scratching their heads, wondering how they were going to do this.... Again, all in the notes. Discussed at length. I should also mention, that even though Empire had a couple people call ME a couple different times to make sure I was prepared for the sales guy visit and then the installation (where I mentioned the parking issue AGAIN), I was most irritated by the two installation guys' LACK of preparedness for my installation. I blame them but more so on Empire as a whole.

The lack of coordination was so apparent and resulted in my cancelling the order with the poor guys waiting for me to do so. I'm leaving some things out, but I think you'll get the gist. Very frustrating and I'll never use Empire again. I did end up going Cambridge Rug Co and not only were they a little bit cheaper, I'm supporting a local business and they spent time with me, were professional, responsive and I can't recommend them high enough! Empire, never again.

The Empire rep that came to my home was really helpful with all the materials that she brought. She even suggested some different types of flooring and some different types of carpet too. She suggested colors and how it can be combined with all the wall color too. So, it was a really good experience. The one thing that made us decide to go to Empire is that they offered that they can do the job as quick as we want. We had another company that came and they told us, "No, it will take two to three weeks." But then Empire told us, "If you want, we can do it tomorrow." So, that was a huge change for us.

We changed all the floors of the whole house but the bathrooms. We did vinyl on the living room, dining room, and kitchen, and carpeting on the four bedrooms that we have, the stairs and the family room in the basement. The installers did a really good job. They were really fast and were really focused to do the job, so they were fine. The quality of the products is really good. I can see the difference with what we had here. Right now, it's really good.

Empire Today installed the carpet that we replaced many years ago. The wood floor replaced the carpet. We had it installed in the entire house with the exception of the bathrooms. The installers came in and moved around the house. They helped remove the large furniture, and then they began leveling the floor, sanding it. After that, they took lunch, and then they began the process of putting the hardwood floor down. That evening, they covered the furniture that we had to leave outside with plastic protection, and then the next day, they came to finish. I was pleased. We did it for my mom’s house and we like that she is able to move around the house in the chair more easily than she was able to do on the carpet.

Empire Today installed our carpet and the padding that goes underneath it in our master bedroom and second bedroom. I used Home Depot before but they were booked in three weeks out and I was trying to sell my home, and I moved over to Spokane. So, I needed to re-carpet it faster. Going with Empire Today worked with my timeline.

I really enjoyed working with the sales representative. However, the people that came out to install were lackluster. I was not happy with them. They ended up stepping on paint after they replaced the carpet and then put it right on to the new carpet. And then, one of them told me, "Oh, no. It will come out.” I said, "No. That will not come out." And then, he said, "No. Just wait till tomorrow and the stuff that’s put on there, it will come out." I again said it won't. And then, it didn't. So, I ended up calling back, he came out and replaced the section which he should've just done in the first place. Also, they were not honest with me. They kept on saying, "We'll come out, we'll come out," and then maybe hoped that I wouldn't pursue it any further.

They just felt rushed and they had another job they wanted to get to instead of taking the time to fix them right away or they just were tired and didn't want to do it. But even the second time they came out, they didn't wear any booties and you would have thought they would've learned on the first time when they go and might step on something there. I'm trying to sell this house, so they're painting, they're doing things. But the salesperson was wonderful. He wore little booties which all the contractors they've worked with wear booties for that reason, in case they step on something outside, they don't try to get in. Everyone from the selling to the customer service for doing the carpet fixed were great. Empire Today is definitely worth looking into. But when it comes to installation, make sure they watch where they step.

But this time, I waited longer than what I had anticipated. Other than that, it was installed correctly. Everyone was professional and very polite. The sales rep was wonderful. He communicated well, answered any questions I may have had and he was very informative. They could improve on the timing though and it would've been better if there'd be more discounts, especially if I’m a returning customer. Nonetheless, the quality is good.

Empire installed vinyl flooring in my kitchen. They had assured me it was waterproof. This was a flat out lie. Within just a few months it has started to lift off the floor in numerous places. Empire says the warranty will not cover its repair because the damage is "site related". They claim that since my dog urinated on the floor that this caused the separation from the subfloor. This is total malarkey. I've had the floor looked at by a professional and the reason the vinyl is coming up is because the subfloor was not nailed down completely. Very shoddy workmanship, very poor customer service, very embarrassing over the holidays when family members came by.

I had a friend that recommended Empire and did get discount or getting the recommendation from another customer. He was really happy with the way everything went. I did see his flooring, and he told me everything went smoothly. I had done the hassle of going to a store and trying to pick a product out. I looked a few times and always came out more confused than when I went in. Having a salesman come with the samples to your house helped a lot. The one who came from Empire was good at explaining everything and showing me what was available.

We had a few bumps with Empire Today along the way. The salesperson came and everything went good. I made the order and I had a second choice, and she said I could change that order and gave me a date that I would need to change it by. So, I decided to go ahead and change. They scheduled the installation, and the guys came and they had the original product. They didn't have the changed order. They had to reschedule, which was just a few days later. They came back, but they didn't bring enough material to complete the installation. They did everything but the master bathroom. Because they didn't have enough material with them, they had to reschedule the next installation, which took about a week, and then they came back and finished the bathroom. The installation fellows were great. They did a good job.

I was really happy, and I love my flooring. There were just little problems with getting the right flooring and having it put in. When the salesman was here, we talked about the pricing, and there were two different prices on the flooring. The second one that I changed to, she had quoted me and wrote the note down on one of the brochures what the quote was. When she called me, she asked, "What did I quote you?" And I gave her the wrong amount. I gave her $500 more than what she's actually written on the paper by mistake. They had also given me a little bit of a break, $100 off two different times. So, it was supposed to be $200 off plus. They did change that. We got everything worked out, and I was charged the correct amount.

We have a very busy household, so I didn’t pay as much attention to it as I should have right after they were leaving. We had to have someone come out already to redo the seams in the hallway ‘cause the seams were showing, but then I’ve still got a few other pieces of my laminate flooring that have bubbles in them, underneath the laminate part. They haven’t done anything about that yet, but they seem to stand behind whatever they say they’re gonna do. So, when you use them, make sure you double check the installation really good before they leave.

The new carpet feels really great. The color is really pretty. It's got black flecks in it, silver, and a tiny bit of beige, so it goes with everything. It's gorgeous. But it makes it hard to open the front door now because we had it kinda set to the lower carpet. Also, now, we're afraid of putting shoes in. We're all anal about the carpet when we couldn't have cared less about it before. So, it's a whole new experience.

Updated on 02/11/2020: I will make this short because I have already invested so much time and effort into this matter. Basically, Empire Today wants to charge us $1200 to remove a newly installed carpet and replace it with a new color because this carpet was supposed to be grey and is sage green. Their corporate office admitted that this particular carpet can look green in certain lighting, but didn't tell us (the consumer) that. We would have NEVER chosen a carpet that "could look green." If you are unhappy, they won't stand by their guarantee. They are saying that although we didn't have that information about the carpet looking green, we are choosing a new carpet by choice, which is certainly NOT the case. Buyer beware! I have sage green carpet with grey walls and white trim. Carpet was supposed to be grey as well. Such a disappointment.

Original Review: A wonderful sales rep came to our house and showed us the samples we were looking for. We chose a very traditional grey carpet to go down into our recently remodeled basement that had newly painted grey walls. When the installers arrived, we confirmed that they were installing the correct carpet by its name tagged at the end of the carpet roll. Unfortunately, when they were done installing, the carpet looked green instead of grey. We contacted our sales rep again and he gave us a phone number and extension to call. I have called this number several times and have left several messages and no one will get back to me (it’s been a week now so we are not optimistic that we will suddenly get a phone call). We absolutely hate this carpet down in the basement and it looks awful against our grey walls. It’s awful just to be down in our basement and see that this was the finishing touch on the project.

I just purchased the property and I had two other people come out and give bids, and then I was on a time restraint. So, right before the holidays, I needed to get the work done because we were moving into the house right after Christmas. Empire was a little more expensive than the other company, but for similar materials, Empire will be able to do it in my timeframe. They had a guy come by on a Saturday, and then we were able to set everything up for a Monday and Tuesday install. So, that worked out really well.

Empire's salesperson, Mark, did a really good job and he showed us all the different products. I kinda talked to him with doing something in the other room that I wanted to do, and he said, “You're better off doing these two here, and then doing the other ones later.” And Empire had some kind of deal going on. The install went really well. The installers were very pleasant. There was one board my wife didn’t like, which was like in the middle of the room, and they came the next day and took up the floor and took what that part was and replaced it, and then we changed some color, and they took care of that also. So, they did a fantastic job. They're really good. They cleaned up after themselves, and they leveled the floor out and the trim work. My experience with Empire Today was very seamless and they did a great job.

    Reviewed Dec. 25, 2019

I had carpet installed for my entire house. In the military we have After-Action-Reviews (AAR) after every major event/exercise. These AAR's are intended to be honest, yet constructive. I will submit my AAR with no less intentions. The sales rep and I walked through the house and I addressed where the carpet was to be installed with transitional strips; some pitfalls where that the door to the garage may need to be cut due to the height of the carpet, which she said the installers can do. I also explained that I wanted not just the tread and risers carpeted but the stringers as well. She told me that all laminate would be removed down to the bare step. The installers showed up on schedule. They were very polite and professional throughout the entire process.

I asked Empire Today if they could provide an itemized list of what was to be done by the installers but they stated that they don't provide a list. They do have a contract that states what is to be done in broad strokes but we found that to be insufficient. I say insufficient because the installers were unaware that the stringers were to be carpeted; also that the installers were to provide a transitional strip in front of my washer and dryer; the laminate was to be removed prior to installation on my steps. It became an additional challenge because the installers didn't speak English and I don't speak Spanish. I actually request a bilingual representative to come to my house but that never happened. I served as a Contract Officer Rep for the federal government and this was unacceptable but probably more common in the private sector.

The installers would periodically check with their Spanish speaking supervisor for more details on their installation requirements. It became clearer that Empire Today (sales rep) did not relay the specifics to the installers' supervisor. The sales rep also told me that paper contracts (K) are historically less accurate than digital K’s. The sales rep did respond to all my requests in a timely manner. After the installers completed my tread and risers of my steps, I called the sales rep immediately and informed her that I believe the industry standard is to install the stringers before the tread and risers. But she said that it was an installer’s preference. Also she initially stated that Empire Today had no qualified installers to install stringers.

The next day they send over an installer to do the stringers; he stated that the stringers are to be done first before the tread and risers. The other piece of this disconnect is that the sales rep didn't know that my carpet with the padding wove into the carpet itself, and not two separate pieces, could not be used as stringers because of the padding; therefore, I had to choose a different carpet to be used for my stringers. The hue is a little different from the tread and risers but it's the best you can do without replacing the whole carpet. If known that this was an issue, I would have selected a different style carpet.

The sales rep is unfamiliar with carpet installation. I should have given her warning; that, "we should contact her if we have any issues," more thought. That was a missed red flag. Obviously the language barrier, lack of itemizing, disconnect between what was promised and the installers contractual obligations, the carpet used (that's why the carpet was surplus and on sale), etc. all made the installation an emotional and laborious process for me. But this is probably an accepted business practice for most industries. Most will probably outsource to the lowest bidder knowing full well of its shortcomings and gaps in customer service. QA/QC is not even an afterthought. It's simply "do no harm to the comptroller," mentality.

We have had the worst experience ever with Empire. The sales reps were great but from this point on everything was terrible. After the vinyl was placed the transition came up twice. It was finally disclosed at this point the wrong transition was used and the carpet on the other side of the transition cannot be repaired. They are giving us a credit to fix the carpet that was ruined by the installers but it is not the a credit of the amount of what we originally paid. Our complaint was first made before our one year window. To get the same quality carpet we originally had we have to pay over that credit amount. We never would have bought this had they not damaged the carpet.

I am very upset for being lied to by an Empire Sales Rep. He sat down with my husband and I and said we would have 3 years with no interest to pay for carpet and tile. I asked the salesman twice, confirming 3 years no interest and he said yes. I looked at my bill and started to see interest being charged. I was told that was not the plan I signed up for. They said I signed up for a plan with 9.99% APR if paid within 48 months. So basically he lied just to make a sale. I will NEVER use them again because of this. I called Empire and complained, they still did not honor what was told to me.

She told me that I can choose between two plans to pay in a year with no interest or some other plan and be charged a lower interest rate and have at least 2 years to have to pay it. I signed a new contract to have the carpet paid off in a year with no interest and they are still charging me interest. I have called twice and told them I have a copy of my new contract, and this is still not fixed. I feel that they are frauds. I do like my carpet, but because of being lied to, in the next house I move in which will be next year sometime, I will never use them. Please make sure you read before you sign. Do not trust what the salesman says unless you see it in writing.

I went to a lot of places and the sales guy at Empire Today was good. He didn’t pressure me, and he was very helpful. His presentation and the product that he showed helped me to understand the difference between the vinyl plank and vinyl and sheet. So it was good. The installers were the best. They were on time. We got the vinyl plank and had it installed in the front office area, in my living room, my bedroom, and my bathroom. I had the installation done over a period of two days only because of the way my house is configured. I asked them questions and they answered them. I was very pleased with the installers.

I had hardwood floors put in by Empire Today in a bedroom, a living room, a kitchen and a hallway. The only negative I had of the entire deal was the salesman wasn't really truthful. He said that the installers worked only for Empire and that was one of the deciding factors for me. But I found out otherwise, so he blatantly lied to me about it to make the sale. And after the fact, the boat had left the dock and I couldn't turn back. Nonetheless, my overall purchasing experience with Empire Today went good. The whole installation was great. The installers did a superb job.

We were gonna do a whole house remodel and I started searching on Google. I found that Empire Today had very good responses. People were very happy with Empire, which was probably the main reason we chose them. We did a wood plank that's waterproof that has a cushion back on it. When the installers came, they said that we bought the top-of-the-line. We had it put in the living room, dining room, kitchen, hallway, utility room and two bathrooms. We had it in everything except for two bedrooms and then we had carpet put there.

At first, when the rep brought his samples in, he wanted to sell us some linoleum and we didn't wanna go that way. We wanted it to look nice. My wife said we wanted some kind of a planking. So, he went out and that was the piece that he brought in. It was a light gray color and that's what we picked. He seemed to know a lot about it. He only brought us in one piece to pick from and that was kind of different. He would have brought us several but we told him ahead of time that we were going with light gray walls and white ceilings, and we already had the white kitchen in blackish gray granite, so he kinda knew the color scheme and he was good about it.

We had a problem part way through the installation. We took for granted that every piece of what the rep brought us was gonna look that way. The crew started laying it and they had four light pieces together and then a dark piece, and it just didn't look right. So, we stopped and called the rep. The crew, in turn, pulled it up and started mixing the boxes so we wouldn't have such a variance and the floor turned out great. They were here five days. When they put the gray trim down, when they cut it, the ends weren't gray, and I wasn't happy with that.

We had this whitish, light brownish color on the end of the trim going down the hallway when it would bump up to a door casing. Finally, after a couple more times of coming back, they took some kind of a gray pencil and colored the ends of them and it made it look a little bit better, but we still have some that weren't all the way completed. But it's not bad. They had to match an existing door trim and the quarter round trim was just too big for it, so it would kind of stand out. It was a $10,000 job and it turned out very nice. We've had several people compliment us on it.

This was a 1985 manufactured home that sits on a slab. You're used to seeing light brown walls and paneling looking stuff. We completely changed it all up into light gray walls and charcoal beams, and then we also had the new white kitchen and the flooring. We got all new blinds in now and switching all the ivory outlets and switches over to white, and we're going with the panels just to kinda make it look nice. It will probably be a home that me and my wife live in for the rest of our lives, so we figured we might as well fix it up the way we want. We're very happy.

We got a quote from an Empire Orlando Salesman for stone infused vinyl tile that was reasonable. He never said the tile we ordered could be installed without grout. The installers agreed to do this as it reduced their labor considerably. We talked to the salesman about thresholds and later found out from the installers they were not included with our order and had to buy and install them ourselves. The installers left glue and caulk on the flooring and trim that was hard to see unless you were on your hands and knees because the color was similar to the flooring so we had to clean this up. Later I could not open a sliding door and I found the tiles were blocking its path. Eventually, Empire came out and fixed this and replaced a defective tile.

When I went to install thresholds to the carpeted areas, I found that the carpet backing had been ripped out in some places near the edging so that it is no longer flat and there were places with tile missing so that the concrete floor underneath was exposed. We would have been better off with the aging carpet we had instead of money spent on a project we have to finish and clean up from. Nice people, good product but I cannot recommend the workmanship and the salesman would never call us back once he got our money.

I looked at Lowe's and some places, but I thought Empire was my best deal. Their estimate was better than anybody else I had, so I had them carpet all of my basement and then some flooring in my bathroom. I'm supposed to get a $250 off from the email, signing up for them to come out and they didn't give me that. I called twice and I never got anything back on that. Also, the installer was a bit hard to understand and there were a few problems, but we got through him. He broke the leg off of our pool table and he didn't tell us then when he put our stuff down in our toilet, he didn't leave a hole or anything for us to put our toilet back in. Still, the sales rep was nice and worked with me really well. She told me what was the best price for me and she showed me what I could use and their prices.

Some of the responses that I heard out of people who had used Empire before and some of the stuff I read online about them helped me decide to have Empire do four of my rooms and the living room. The sales rep was a nice fella. Everybody is nice at the start and we're curious people, so we pushed a little bit to see what all they had, and he just kept bringing samples. I've never seen somebody with so many samples. I picked a carpet based on the color of the samples provided in relation to the wall color and everything else.

The carpet is doing well now. It was a quick buy and no out-of-turn stuff happened, but we pushed the installation out an extra three days and they accommodated that quickly. One of the installers asked me about 10 times if it was okay to walk in a room. He walked out and was in a room, and then he wanted to go into another one that had a few things in it. He would look right at me and ask if it was okay for him to go in. I found that weird, but refreshing.

I had Empire Today install vinyl flooring and carpet in my entire downstairs. I did the vinyl in the kitchen and the carpet throughout the rest of the house - the bedroom, living room and side room. I really liked the specific style of the vinyl flooring, so that was why I chose that one. But as far as the carpet, I enjoy the color, but there wasn’t a huge option for colors. I did look before at a couple of other places, but I really liked the sale that was going on. So, I went with Empire. The installation was decent. I was a little upset that they didn't get rid of some of the old material after it was done because I thought that was included. But it wasn’t a whole lot, so we were able to get rid of it without an issue. The whole outlook of the flooring looks amazing.

What bothered me a bit was the fact that most of the day that they were here, they didn’t speak English so I had no idea what they were saying. I, sometimes, find that a bit rude. I am bilingual, but obviously not in that language myself. I don’t know if they were laughing at me or talking about me. But I liked that when they were talking to me specifically, they would then convert to English. So, that was okay. And they were really decent installers, the carpet installers more so than the vinyl. The vinyl guys were okay, and they were really nice and helped us put the refrigerator and the stove back in so that we wouldn’t rip the vinyl. But my husband was here for the carpet installation because I had to work that day. He said he really, really liked those guys.

We had new carpet and new, cheap vinyl flooring installed with Empire Today. I did my searching online and found out what was included with Empire, specifically the moving of the big furniture items, which was important to me. And if we had been unsuccessful in dealing with Empire in getting what we needed for a reasonable price, then I would have undoubtedly gone to somebody else. The rep I worked with knew the product, he was helpful, and he was a good a salesman. The installation went great, too. The quality of the products was good value for the money. And I really like the softness of the carpet.

I am so disappointed in my flooring. I have ordered my flooring since June and they gave me such a run around to come and fix the floor. This has been the worst experience I have had with trying to have them come and fix my floor. They have one excuse after another. Just because I am old does not mean I will not fight them to fix my floors. Not only that I have slits in some of the vinyl tiles and they tell me that is part of the flooring. I would never have bought this but when you only see a piece of the vinyl 4x4 you don't see the whole vinyl. Who would buy something with a slit in it. I will have to get in touch with Wells Fargo Bank and tell them I will not pay for something that is not finished. Let them deal with Empire. I am sick and tired of this crap. I have bought carpet from them years ago and they did a great job, but not this vinyl. Thank you, Lilli **

I've had them do stuff and it turned out into something that made think to call in the professionals the next time. I kept seeing Empire Today's ads on Hulu and on my Facebook. So, I went with them. I was looking through the carpet and I fell in love with their custom-ordered stuff.

When the guy came out, he told me the price and I said I couldn't afford to do it in the two rooms. But then he brought in stuff that was more within my price range and it's beautiful, gorgeous carpet. It's been just a little over a month installed and it's holding up beautifully. I absolutely love it. And the guys that came and installed it, they were quick and professional. It was one of the most awesome experiences I've ever actually had with dealing with my house. I really love plush carpet. Right now, we have the patter-woven pattern type carpet in the living room, and I can't stand it.
