Updated on 07/21/2020: VERY DISSATISFIED! After a poor initial install which wrinkled in 2 years I set up for carpet restretch for $330 on Saturday. I decided to give them a chance to redeem themselves after I had put up a bad review and they reached out to me. After waiting all morning for a call about the time they would be there and not receiving one they showed up at 2:30. The installer said it was too large a job for Saturday at 2:30 pm so he wouldn't be able to get it done then and needed to set it up for Monday at 5:30 pm. Very inconvenient since we had the house already dismantled so they could do the job but whatever. THEN ON MONDAY THEY NO SHOW. Called a different company who will be out tomorrow at 7 am and it only costs $190. Will never recommend or use Empire again.
Original Review: 2 years ago I had my carpet installed Empire Flooring. All seemed well at the time and we were very happy with our carpet however just over a year after the carpet was installed we noticed puckering of the carpet. This progressed and is now present in multiple spots throughout the house. I called to see if we could have somebody come out and fix this problem and they have refused. As this continues to progress it not only looks bad but is now becoming a tripping hazard in our house. We are going to need to hire somebody to come stretch and re-staple the carpet. Not very fair after the amount of money we spent to have it installed the first time.

Less than a month after having flooring installed I dropped an item on it and a small nicked happened. Called the company and was told the flooring hadn't "cured" yet. I sent a picture of the damage as asked to and was told they would come out and fix it for two hundred dollars. I spent four thousand to have it installed. I asked to speak to a manager and was told the manager would call me back within 24 hours. It didn't happen. Disappointed!

The sales guy came at time promised and did a great job explaining the different types of flooring. He even played with my cats with the laser pointer. :) He measured rooms and we went over different colors of flooring for different rooms. Had it set up for the 2 different colors and some carpeting for the stairs. We ended up finding hard wood under our stairs when we pulled the original carpet out so I canceled the carpeting.
Called salesman to have that canceled he says it’s good to go. All canceled BUT Never got refund!! I tried calling several times to get my $300 back to no avail. Always some excuse about no one in the office or no one in the finance department was answering the phone.. So I just gave up after the runaround and paid the original financed amount off.
The installers showed up on time day scheduled But when asked to see the second color of flooring they had no clue about the second color. Said the order only had one color on it. So after calling the sales guy he says he never measured one room. I told him to and he “forgot” about the second color of the order. So the installers had to measure the room I originally wanted added into the order. We get that all set up and set up a second day for installers to come back with the other color. (Which included a second day off of work for me.)
When they show up the second day for installation they hand me a bill for $1300 before they can do anything.. I had been approved for financing and that was supposed to be added to that. So after ANOTHER phone call to add that to financing.... ughhh we finally get the second color finished. But I live in a bi level house and where the footing for the banister is they supposedly couldn’t cover that so there’s no cover over that and when you walk in my front door the “edge” of the floor that comes out there and the top of my stairs only has a 1 inch cap on it which is half the size it should be.
When I called to find out why the right size isn’t on it I was told the manufacturer only makes the 1” size and I would have to fix all that stuff myself. The installers left his jacket here the first time they were here and the second time they left all of their paperwork here and I had to make another phone call for them to come back and pick it up. The flooring is supposedly indestructible but I pushed a mattress across the floor and it scratched. I pulled out my stove to clean behind that and it also scratched the floor. The customer service and the product are not all they say they are.

I love my carpet for the price, but in less than one year I have several areas of carpet buckling! I now have had installers back into my home twice and I am sure I haven’t seen the last of the buckling. Not sure as I am not a carpet professional, but I don’t think they are stretching it properly.

Updated on 07/07/2020: So they come out to fix the inferior luxury vinyl flooring and it didn’t last 1 week. I called them back. They have to return my call. I’ve call 15 times and someone will call and never do. I will be reporting to the BBB and everyone else. This was a purchase of $10k and they have no regard, no quality product, no customer service and are liars! Beware of this organization. Clearly they won’t be around long with the lack of product, disregard and service.
Original Review: I made the horrible mistake of purchasing Empire's Luxury Vinyl Flooring. The boards are separating and the T moldings coming up. I'm tripping in my house! When reported they would not get back. Finally scheduled and NO SHOW - $10,000 in floors. You can't even get a hold of them. When you write corporate they do not even reply!! Only way is say you want to buy and then they answer but of course cannot help you. I would NEVER recommend the product or the company and the customer service is deplorable.

We ordered carpet to be installed and had 3 days to cancel if need. We put $1500 down on the carpet. We canceled within the 3 days since we had a medical issue come up. We were supposed to get a refund of our $1500 within 3-5 business days we were told. It is now day 7 and still have received no money. We have called a couple times and keep getting told longer times. Guess our next move will be a complaint with the attorney general because we are not letting $1500 go.

I called to get new carpet. They showed up for my estimate. Jeff was who came and was very helpful and professional. When the day finally came for the carpet to be installed they called and had to cancel and reschedule. I was not happy but did for the next sat. Well the second appointment came up and they called and canceled again. I was very angry at that point and was told it would be done tue 6/16/2020. I had to pick a different color cause what I wanted was out of stock and not available at all. So Jeff came back out and I picked a different color. This morning the installer showed up. Walked into my home and looked like he had an attitude. He took pics and measured again. Then told me he had to call to find out how much carpet he needed. I did not understand that I thought he had it with him. Then came back in and told me he had breathing issues. We have pets and there are some stains by the door. He said he could not do the job.
Then I got a call for the installation coordinator Ahmed and told me if we rip the carpet up ourselfs then they will do the job. As I was on the phone with him the installer just left. At that point I asked to talk to a supervisor and wanted a refund of my deposit of $600. I was ignored so I had to call a different person Renee and she was very helpful and canceled my order and is processing my refund. While I was doing all that my husband was able to find a better company that will be out here today to help us out. I’m sorry but I will never deal with Empire Today ever again and will not recommend to anyone at all.

First day we had problems, they called and the truck broke down so we had to reschedule, second time they called again and said the same thing, so I talked to the manager and complain about it so they called me back and the installs were coming. The installs took apart my bed didn't tell them but they did, went to bed the same night, climb in bed and the bed broke apart and made hole in my mattress, the manager called and pretty much said, "YOU FIX IT AND DEAL WITH IT. WE ARE NOT BUYING YOU A NEW BED OR MATTRESS!" ALL I'M ASKING IS TO FIX IT BECAUSE I DIDN'T BREAK IT!

Empire Today came to our rental home, the sales rep gave us a bid on a Monday and we explained that we had 2 other bids we are getting this week and we will be in touch, she said I don’t think others are installing right now due to Covid-19 and we should put a deposit down to hold our install date. (We told her we needed it done soon because of tenants moving in) She said 3 times “Just put your deposit down and you can cancel at anytime and get your money back no problem because it’s an in stock carpet.” So we found a better deal and called to cancel and they told us we can cancel but they won't give us our deposit back.
I spoke to many customer service reps and the manager and said they need to refund our deposit, they refused. I contact the sales rep and she tells me to just tell them we had an emergency and to cancel. I am not going to lie to get a deposit I gave with a promise. I could get my Money back no problem. The customer service is terrible. It's some outsourced customer service group that does not care about you at all and just tells you, "Well too bad we can’t keep track what all the sales rep are saying so we will not refund your deposit." I will never ever use this company again and will tell everyone I know to never go with this company.

I was literally compelled to pay $ 1200 just for replacing plywood under 400 sq.ft. at the time of installation or I was asked to sign a waiver for my warranty. The customer service just issues complaint reference number & that's it. I checked the prices & labor for the plywood replacement which was forced on me but still it was too high compared with couple of places. The installation manager called me & was very angry on me as I gave them less stars on my survey. I would never ever recommend Empire Today to anyone, it's waste of money. Rather go to Home Depot buy yourself & have a installer which will be much cheaper. I had called once & was told that someone would contact me but no one did. Just today I was having a chat with an customer service of Empire today & again same thing, another reference number & even while I was asking her something she abruptly ended the chat.

I contacted Empire Today to obtain an estimate to install laminate flooring in an apartment I own. The salesman arrived on time, showed us a selection of available flooring, and measured the two bedroom, two bath apartment. He calculated a price which we said was too high and thanked him for his time. He said he would contact his supervisor to see if he could get a lower price. He contacted us the next day and said he could reduce the price from around $4,700 to $3,900 if we committed right away.
We asked him to confirm that the material was in stock and find out when the installation could happen. He confirmed they had the material in stock and said they could come out in a day or two to do the install. We agreed. He said that we had to pay at least 25% before they could start the install. I had my IRA holder mail a check for the full amount $3,900 to Empire. They got the check and scheduled the install. He sent me a summary of the order after they received the check, and it only had one bedroom, and not two.
I called to correct the error and the salesman said he would look into it. The installers showed up and began the install when scheduled, but indicated they did not have enough material to finish the job, and they had only been told to do one bedroom. The salesman sent me a change order for $500 for the 2nd bedroom..half the apt was already done so I did not have an option. It then took a week and a half to get the rest of the material to install. It was bait and switch as far as I am concerned. They waited until they had my money and the install had already begun then they told me it would cost another $500.
David, we never want our customers to feel this way, and we sincerely apologize for your experience. We'll be in touch with you soon to discuss your experience.

EMPIRE CARPET IS POOR QUALITY--DO NOT BUY. It is not too often that I complain about a product but this complain is justified. I purchased carpet from Empire (the advertisement on TV). I am in real estate so I see lots of carpeting. I buy more than the average person, as well as, recommend companies to my clients. I have purchased and recommended Empire Carpet on a number of occasions. Recently, I noticed that carpet in 2 different properties that I had purchased (base quality and mid quality) had both developed wrinkles. Both are less than 4 years old. When I called to complain and simply ask that the carpet be re-stretched, I was informed that the warranty is only good for 1 year and I would have to pay to have this service completed. SO, the carpet Empire installs is of such POOR QUALITY that it stretches out in less that 4 years old. Hence, I am no longer buying or recommending EMPIRE Carpet.

The installation was on time but it was very unprofessional. My biggest disappointment came when I had to have a small section of the carpet repaired and the professional said the padding they installed is incorrect and typically glued down which is making the carpet prematurely age and come apart aside of being uncomfortable. The repaired section done by another outfit looks great and is very comfortable. The Empire installer that came out was working out of his car and had brought his wife along. I need to replace the carpet sooner than later and also need to do my kitchen and screened in porch with tile, Empire will not be my choice.

Poor Quality and Worse Customer Service! I splurged and paid for the higher end padding and carpeting. I made sure to keep up with the cleaning that is required to keep the carpet under warranty. Well...let's just say the customer service department is joke. I have spent 3 weeks and multiple hours on the phone and email trying to get a manager to come out to look at the wear and tear on my carpet that was supposed to show NO traffic patterns for at least 10 years. Every time I call I have to tell them AGAIN what the problem is and how many times I have called. It is as if they reps are not trained in the art of adding notes to client accounts. Sorry to say, but I would NOT recommend Empire! I called to set up an in home visit and it took 2 phone calls to confirm after it was scheduled. Then the sales person showed up late (full of excuses). We went ahead and selected 2 types of flooring and signed the contract. Our installation was to take place in a month. Four days before the installation was to happen I started calling to confirm. Numerous time I was told someone would get back to me. The sales person would only reply via text and never took my calls.
Finally, after two days of calling I was told that I was not on the schedule and the install date would have to be moved (I was not happy). Then the day before the NEW install date I called AGAIN to confirm (multiple calls again). This time I was told I was on the schedule, but they could not confirm a time until the day of when the installer was assigned. The day of I waited until 10am and then started calling again. That is when I was told the product was not in stock!! (Again the salesperson was full of excuses). Once again, the install date was moved.
Now we were in a position of having to move in without the flooring being done. We were told that they could not get the product we originally selected and we had to make a second choice using pictures (OMG!). A full week later the floor was actually installed. One guy showed up to do the entire project, but he said he would be done by 5pm. Everything was going well until the end of the day when he started running behind. That is when short cuts started happening. The laminate floor trim turned out HORRIBLE and has to be redone! I am very disappoint with the outcome and totally wish we went a different direction.

We had trouble with the installation of the carpet. When the carpet installer first got here, the carpet wasn't cut right for our steps. So, they had to send it back out and get it re-cut. Our steps are totally carpet but the end of the steps about four inches or so are all finished wood. The carpet wasn't cut to deal with it so they had to take it back and send it back out.
When the guys came back with the carpet, there was the padding issue. I was on the phone with two different people and they kept saying that they wouldn't install it 'cause it wasn't covered under warranty. I told them that the salesman came over to the house and I told him that I wanted the carpet installed exactly the same way it was. Nobody ever said anything to me. Now they were telling me that they wouldn't install it with padding underneath it. I asked the supervisor for the installation where under the warranty that said anything about a tripping hazard. I told them that I didn't want thee carpet just laying on the steps 'cause it'd be harder than a rock.
I got a brand-new floor upstairs and I got this carpet right here. So I wasn't not canceling it. They had absolutely no problem with the laminate flooring upstairs. But it was only that little section of the carpet and the carpet around the steps where all the problems occurred. Eventually, the gentleman that was hired to install it came back. The carpet was cut right, he installed it, and everything was fine. They blamed it on the associate that was out at the house for not putting down the information.

Guy came to install, arrived on time but then said they didnt have right size carpet. They screwed up our carpet and wont call us back. Worst customers service. Dont use empire. Worst company ever.
Along with all that I was told that I was going to have glue down carpet/padding and they gave me taped down carpet. Everything about them is a lie. Salesperson was great. The installers of the carpet are a joke. I even told the gentlemen that there was a problem and he said it was fine and that was how it was supposed to be. My 3,000 carpet job was a hack job. Empire Today made it really easy for me, unlike this other company that I was in the process of getting a quote from. Empire came out to my home on a weekend and they gave me a quote. When it was done, they came in a week later to do the work. It’s a project I’ve been wanting to do since I've moved into my house five years ago. I really didn't wanna wait any longer. The time frame with Empire Today was perfect. I was very impressed. Everything worked the way it should and it was quick and easy. The flooring is still working, so we’re good.

Waste of $4,000. I had carpeting replaced in my living room/hallway several years ago. After about one year, I noticed "water marking" which essentially makes your carpet look like there's been a flood in your living room. I worked with the complaint department and complied with all requirements (proof of professional cleaning, examination of my vacuum cleaner, pictures, etc.) A company representative came to my home to see the carpet, take pictures, etc. I was told that this was "something that can happen, but is not a flaw in the carpet." So I now have to try selling my home with very expensive carpeting that looks water damaged. Are you kidding me? If there was a chance that my carpet was going to look like crap after one year, WHY WASN'T I TOLD? I will NEVER use Empire Carpet or any of their affiliates again.

If I got the flooring from one place that sells wood, the warranty would probably be voided if it was not installed correctly. So, I decided to go with Empire Today and know that their installers would be installing it and my warranty shouldn’t be a problem. I had two bedrooms done. I did the walkthrough and everything looked fine. A couple of hours after that, I noticed in my master bedroom that the threshold piece from the hallway into the bedroom was not sitting on top of the flooring that they laid down. It was against it so my foot had dragged across it. Then I went and looked in the spare bedroom and the transition piece of wood was on top of the wood. I didn't know why it was done differently in the master bedroom. Also, they had told me that the subflooring in both rooms was fine. But I can feel a dip in the floor of the master bedroom and a little squeak.
I sent pictures to the customer service person that I first contacted and then I didn't hear from her for a while. About two weeks after, I happened to call and left her a message again. But I didn’t hear anything. Then I called back the main number and they told me that they had let some people go. So there was somebody else that I’m working with and sent the pictures. I’m still in the process of working out some stuff. I need to make a decision on the color of the quarter round. That was removed so that I can paint it white, and then I had to get the quarter round put on. But for the most part, the experience with Empire Today went well.

I saw a deal on television that Empire was offering. Once I got to them, the salesman showed me several different products, and I decided to move forward with that. I had hardwood floors and carpeting installed in the entire first floor of my townhome. During the initial stage, we first did the hardwood floors. Then they came back in and did the carpeting at a later time, so that we could move furniture around. I like the fact that the staining on the flooring was what was agreed to and that it works perfectly, and I like the wider planking. I like the width of the board themselves. I appreciate the color of the carpeting much more than I do the standard off tan junk that every townhome gets because that's the cheapest for them to put in. But there are a couple of things that I'm not pleased about with the carpeting installed because there seems to be a couple of places where they did not get it as tight as it should have been.

They were much more competent and offered fair, competitive rates. We got a much higher quality carpet for significantly less cost. The Empire salesman was relentless, rude and made everyone extremely uncomfortable.
I agreed to a quote with the condition that we wouldn’t have to deal with high stress sales tactics. The salesman was exactly that-he was annoying, arrogant and creepy. He made my sister cry, my sweet, calm son angry and talked my elderly parents into a terrible deal. I had to help them cancel it which took a lot of work. It was worth it in the end to cancel with Empire and go with a local flooring company. They had plush, soft, inexpensive carpet with installers with 30 years experience. We called Empire on Sunday and they sent a sales person out the next afternoon. She said that they do not remove damaged carpet and left. So I had the carpet removed by end of business the next day. For reasons unknown, another sales person could visit us until the following Tuesday. So it a whole week to get the other salesperson on site. My guess is that it is not a big deal for them, so the rep didn't care when he got out here.
We agreed verbally to a deal that day. However, it took a day and a half for the sales guy to get the paperwork to us. And another day for him to actually start running the credit check through Wells Fargo. I should mention that both sales people said immediately after they walked in the door that could have the carpet installed the next day. So here it is two weeks into this situation and no installation yet. We have reached out to both the salesperson and supposedly his sales manager to no avail. They moved what furniture had to be moved. This is a mobile home and the subfloor is not straight enough. So they had to put a subfloor in. The quality of their work was very good. There are two gaps that have to be repaired and that’s what they’re coming back for.
The flooring was great and I was very elated. We had so many compliments on the floor. We had carpeting and vinyl tile before that and vinyl flooring was such an amazing change. He advised me in the product that Empire has and kinda gave me a good review of those.
There were just a few incidents, especially in the installation. When they came and said that they need to put cement, they said it was probably in 75% of the house. When I came in, it was only a few patches here and there. That was like $800 and for me, that was a little bit expensive although I didn’t know the job, so I couldn't say that much. Then the guy came and started using my trashcan so he could use it for water and all that. It’s not an expensive trashcan, but at the end of the day, it ended up being all dirty. He didn’t clean it. We had Empire Today for the whole house. I have two rooms, kitchen, and half a hall, and the den in the LVP. The rest of the house is on carpet. I was having some remodeling done and I was meaning to get the flooring scheduled. I made a hasty decision. I’ve downgraded from what carpeting I had. I purposely took my hand and rubbed across Empire's carpet to see if it made marks one way of the other, and it didn’t. It seemed to be a tighter weave, if that’s the proper terminology. I can vacuum it and it always looks like it needs vacuuming because there’s always footprints. It’s just not as thick as what it appeared to be in the sample that I looked at. I’m very satisfied with the color but it just doesn’t look good. It splotches all over the place.
The sales rep that came out ran late. I understand that because he said the prior customer just couldn’t make up her mind. I was okay with that but he was in a hurry. He was real fast talking. He was also having issues with his laptop, too. He was about to lose power. It died on him while we were making the purchase and he had to go home and get his charger. He came back in a couple of hours. It was an emotional thing. It happened real fast and that should have been a warning sign to me. Also, I saw advertised on TV 50% off, but apparently it was not even worth mentioning because it was bait and switch. I totally asked him about that but he was really preoccupied that he was about to lose power. He was very cordial, though.
The vinyl plank was very good, although we found a piece of quarter round underneath the sink that wasn’t secured or nailed down completely. Didn’t realize that until just two or three weeks ago but you don’t go around and check every little piece. But the installer was very knowledgeable. We still have some issues with where the vinyl and the carpet meet, ‘cause there was a strip put down in the carpet where they had to redo part of it because it didn’t look like it wasn’t secured well enough. Where the carpet stopped and the vinyl started looks a little bit frayed. I’ll vacuum it a couple of times and see how it does. My husband thinks it’s the quality of the carpet. It should look seamless, unless you’re just really looking for it. Overall, for $6,300, the vinyl flooring’s quality I’m very happy with. But the rest of it, not happy.

Empire Today is a known entity. I learned things when the salesman came in that it seems to be at a fair price, and they could do the job very quickly. I got vinyl flooring that installs with no glue because I moved into a house with reasonably good wooden floors. There is a room that I am going to make into a painting studio and I don’t want to mess up the wood floors so if the next person in the house is not happy with the flooring, they can rip it all up. The flooring is very nice and comfortable to walk on. However by Murphy's Law, a couple hours after the installation team went, I actually gouged the surface by putting a piece of furniture on it. After declining the flooring Empire customer service reduced the cost of the total contract to only the carpeting cost of $3,959.60 which I understood as payment that included my $1200.00 deposit. The cost of carpeting was suppose to be $3,959.60 - $1,200.00 = $2759.60. Wells Fargo sent me a payment plan for $3659.60. Empire is at fault because of the excessive charge for the carpeting.

I used Empire before and was always happy with them. Recently, I had them install carpet in the two bedrooms including two closets, hallway, upstairs, and stairs up the steps to the upstairs. The sales representative was wonderful. Not only he knew that we wanted carpet, but he also offered these other services. Just to have him go through that due diligence, that he was used to just selling carpet and have to sell other things, I thought he was really good at it. He was also good from a carpet perspective, he didn't try to sell us on one thing. He understood what our need was. We wanna leave in a couple of years so we didn't want some high-end things. He didn't try to sell us something more than what we needed and I thought that was really nice.
The installers were very good about calling, 'cause I asked to call me and let me know the window that they were gonna be there. They came. One guy had the badge of Empire on and he did not speak English. He had another guy with him and then he had this kid. The one guy spoke broken English and the young kid was the translator. That didn't bother me and I could deal with that, but if you have an elderly person, that might be a little bit confusing for them. However, they were very professional. They put all their rugs down to make sure that they didn't ruin my floors. They were also respectful when I said that we had our bathroom redone and it cost us $10,000 and that they should not put anything in our bathroom furniture-wise. They kept us informed about the status of where they were.
But we had a little bit of a problem before they could start. For some reason, Empire thought that we owed them a check. We did the 12 months finance. The guy said to give him a check and I told him I won't. He wasn't mean about everything and was just following his rules so he told me to talk to his boss. He had to call this boss that spoke Spanish and had to go through all of these hoops because Empire did not have it written down right that my husband and I were approved for the financing and I didn't have to pay anything at the time. Then the translator had to say that this is what's going on. So that kind of thing was a little bit of a hiccup. They were really quick though and put everything back the best that they could. I did not expect them to do that. We ran the vacuum a couple of times on the carpet and everything's holding up well. There's nothing peeling off or coming off the walls. They did a really good job.

Somebody that we were talking to had at least had heard about Empire. We told her that we've been to a number of different places, checking out different carpets. The installation went fine. Everybody was good. They were well-qualified and did well. They were kind, courteous and helpful and did what they needed to do at that point. They had to come back because it was such a monumental thing. We had to move everything in the house and we had way too much stuff in the house. So, it was a monumental deal to just move it and then move it from where you moved it to so they could put more down. But other than that, they did what they said they were gonna do. Even the salesman was courteous, kind and was good.
I communicated with the salesman and told him that we liked the carpet mats, and yet at the same time, I didn't realize that it would mat that much. And so, as far as tracking and anything laying on it, shows. Just every step you take shows. Every print and whatever. And so, it's just unique. Some carpets do that and some don't. But I didn't realize this was going to do that. But we've done what we could do. We can't change it. We'll live with it, but it's just the fact that we just somehow didn't realize it was gonna have that tracking ability just profoundly. I even sent the salesman a couple of pictures. I could send him another one, but I guess he knows that we got what we asked for.
The fact that he showed us a sample and we walked on it and so forth and felt it. You just stood on it. It wasn't long enough to walk on, but you stood on it, then made a decision. He said it was like king of the walk and is wonderful and people liked it. A little bit of carpet we have in a lower room doesn't do the tracking at all. We just didn't have enough money to do it. I wouldn't wanna have it laid. If I had something to where you'd have both in the same place, if I could get something to put it down so it didn't have the contrast. That would be helpful.
I hope and pray the quality is all it is cracked up to be. We like the color and we chose that. I'm walking on the carpet now and we're learning to live with it. It gives you a good feel and it's not abrasive like some. If you roll a chair that has rollers on it or if you sweep, it's interesting. As far as what we had picked out, both as far as flooring and carpet, we put down the flooring in the kitchen area, and then we put carpet throughout everything else basically, and I told my wife with what we were doing, if we would've gone that route, we would've had two different issues but we would've saved a couple of thousand dollars if we did what we were thinking about.
So we paid a higher price, paid more funds for what we have, and there's a possibility it may be better. We surely were not being skimpy. We looked at several places. We looked at Lowe's and Home Depot, and then we also looked at a discount place in Georgia. And so, if we had gone with what we were actually picking out, then it surely wasn't by any means the bottom of the line. It was quality, both as far as pad and carpet, but it would've actually been a couple thousand dollars less.
The fact that Empire at least allowed us to purchase it and pay for it over the year with no interest, then I made the choice to do that just so we didn't have to spend all the money at one time. But in actuality, what we were gonna buy would've been a couple thousand less than what we put in this. We put 7,300 and some dollars in this. I don't have complaints with the personnel or the people or the installers. It's just the fact that we did not discern how it was gonna end up looking.

And I do hope that everything goes well with it ‘cause I just got the bill and I just wanted to pay the bill fully, but if there’s gonna be any problems, then I’m not gonna pay it in full.

We had carpeting installed in our basement. I chose Empire Today because of their advertisements and competitive pricing. I feel really good about that decision. Their rep, Amy, was very nice and knowledgeable. The installers arrived in the time frame that they said that they would, and upon initial inspection, everything looked great. We also had some additional painting done in our basement. There were a couple of parts where the rug is not as tightly tucked down in areas that it should be. I did not notice it but the contractor pointed it out. They said that that they could have done a little better job with the installation. I would like for a person to come back out to look at the areas that were pointed out to us. But for the most part, I am happy with the product and the installation.

But then, I saw Empire Today's ad on TV and I called to have them come out to see if there is anything I like in their selection. The young man who came was wonderful. I didn't feel any pressure. I just felt that he had a product he believed in and he told us about it. I picked what I wanted and had Empire put carpet in our living room. We had Empire install hardwood flooring for us on our entire first floor which is about 3000 square feet. However, their salespeople are not realistic about the length of time it takes for their installers to do a job. We were disappointed that the salesperson said repeatedly that the entire job would be done in one day. It took nearly three. Their installers were really late in getting started. The guy told me that there was no way they could be at my place at the time Empire said as they had another job they had to finish. So, the job at my place took much longer than we were told. It impacted our ability to work and the things we could have planned for. Other than that though, their installers did a good job. We are happy with Empire's product and our floors look great.

Empire's sales guy was great. However, their offer said that if I buy one room, I would get the next room free. They had all all these stipulations which I expected but it was ridiculous. The cost was thousands of dollars more than we would’ve thought to do a second room with the same materials. Empire should be a bit more transparent about their deals. Still, I had them install laminate flooring in our family room and everything went well. Their crew was fantastic and when we have the other room done, we’re gonna ask for them to come back if they can. The flooring we got is beautiful. It's definitely what we expected.

My Empire Today flooring improved our home. We installed some laminate flooring for our living room, a small hallway, and a kitchen. It was convenient. Empire offered a total package price, so we knew what we were getting for all the different details. We are able to have furniture moved and moved back. However we have a small house so that was critical because we didn’t know what else to do with them with the furniture. Empire included a lot of additional items that we were struggling with the other vendors to figure out a total cost. Every time we turned around, they would say we didn't need those.
Quality of the product was very good. The installer wore an Empire Today shirt, so we knew that he was from Empire. He was a very nice gentleman, informed us as he went, walked through the house with patience because my brothers were still moving some things around for us. He did a couple of other little fine-tuning things that were just for his own personal quality control preference. One was that he wasn’t happy with how one of our doors was swinging so he didn’t cut it, he saved it. But he made sure that it wouldn’t have a wear spot on the floor later. He informed us of different things to look for as the floor settled in, and was very knowledgeable about the product and asked questions where needed, but very quiet and very clean. We didn’t have a mess when he left.

The carpet that I had before was Berber carpeting, and Empire installed it way back 2006 or 2008. I had them do my entire house and guy did the best job in the world on my stairs. The rug was beautiful. I’m only removing it because I wanted it to look newer and nicer. Now, I’m regretting it. I should have just had it cleaned and kept it because I’m not satisfied.
I’m still waiting for them to come here and fix my problem. Empire Today installed the floor February 1st, the LVP floor upstairs but the guy didn’t install it right where it came off on the hallway area, so it’s lifted. And then, he put the wrong nose near the stairs. He never hit the rug with one of those machines that was supposed to make it tight so every step was super-loose, and it was coming apart.
When he got to the top of the stairs, he couldn’t fit it to the nose. He hammered that nose that was already there and broke it, and put the rug crooked so there was no rug to the right. I kept calling Empire and I’m telling them that we have a humongous problem here. I even took pictures of everything and it sent it to them but they wouldn’t send anybody out. They just kept giving me the run-around.
When they finally sent somebody out, it was the wrong person. He doesn't know how to do it. He still can’t fix the top of the rug unless they send somebody else that does the LVP. They're gonna have to come with another box of LVP, and take all those pieces out. He also said he can't fix the stairs any better than what they are unless we go buy molding. Don't get me wrong. I love Empire. I just think somebody’s doing something wrong, and they need to get it right. I’m not happy with this. And now, I gotta live with this, and I paid for this. And they're telling me this is the best they could do. But, I’m still waiting.

We had it for our kitchen and entryway and we had tile put in our bathroom.
The installer was so thorough. I had about one-sixteenth rise in my flooring in front of the stairs, and the installer spent two and a half hours grinding and sanding that down to make sure that was flat before he put the flooring in. I was very impressed. Everybody liked the flooring. It’s cleaning up really nice and it made a lot of difference in the house. It looks much newer now.
One issue was they wouldn’t have been able to put the flooring in because I had a glass door. It’s a wooden door with glass windows in it. The installer refused to even touch that door. I had to take it down myself. Luckily, I had a rotary saw and I could saw it, put it back in. Otherwise, it would’ve stopped installation that day, and that was really annoying that they wouldn’t even consider moving the door or anything. We told him we would supply the base and spent 10 minutes showing him what we wanted. The price for the flooring was about $1000.00 more than our lowest price we got, but because we thought they were a reputable company and it would be hassle free we went with them.
My husband has health problems and was going to be overseeing the work it was important for it to be as little stress as possible. The problems started as soon as they came to install the flooring. They told him we would have to pay more to have the base installed. I was at work so he had to call me to get empire on the phone. It took me over an houir and many calls to get it resolved while I am trying to work on my job. The installers were spanish and could not speak any English. At first one of their wives were there to translate but she left and their was no way to communicate. I got home around 5 pm and they were still working. We assumed they would be done for the day soon. At 8:30 that night they had the wife talk to us and tell us to go get wax rings for the toilet.
We said that is not our job. She insisted so my husband was forced to go to Lowes at 8:30 at night. When he got back they never put then on but kept working. At 9:30 pm our security in our subdivision told them they would have to leave. We tild security we had no way of communicating with them and we were glad they came and were able to get then to leave. After they had been told to leave I started to clean up the mess that was left. I soon discovered that they had opened our garage which is a fully furnished game room and were using the light to see for all the cuts they were making with their miter saw. It had sawdust everywhere. I worked past midnight to clean it up. We also had a problem with one of the workers earlier when we showed him that he was putting the trip up wrong. He said something abprupt in Spanish and looked angry.
They came back the next day and were finishing the job. My husband showed them by motioning about the wax rings on toilet not being done. They became angry and were trying to argue with him . The wife called again to translate and she said they had already had changed them. They had not and she began to yell at my huisband on phone. I had to cal;l empire again and they sent someone out 2 days later and as we had said the workers had lied and they did not change the wax rings. They also took pictures of the floor where we had tried to complain to the Spanish workers that it was not right.
I called Empire many times trying to get all these problems resolved. We never signed off on the floor and they would not return any of my calls. It has been over 2 months and I still continue to call but no return calls. I disputed the charge on my credit card because no one will call me back. They originally offered us 200 dollars off for the problem with the wax rings but never took it off the bill but charged our credit card the full amount. They refuse to handle this whole situation.

Empire Today had to bring out a second team to do the job, which set us back a week. The second team checked everything over and said everything was fine. They were really precise and did a wonderful job. The flooring looks wonderful. We had vinyl in from one of the houses built 25 years ago and it’s nice to see a fresh look.
We also had one little problem with the carpet team but that was just something that they should’ve known better. The carpet was installed fine and everything looks good, but to get a wire out of the way, they actually used a piece of duct tape to stick it to a painted wall. When they peeled the duct tape off, they peeled the paint off. Fortunately, it wasn’t a very old paint job and we had some extra paint and were able to touch it up. PLEASE READ BEFORE SIGNING THEIR CONTRACT! I wanted to update my house since I am retired and the home needs improvement. One of my daughters scheduled an in home consult with Empire at my house. I was encouraged to sign a contract that day, with the snowy weather I wanted to rush him out so I agreed to the terms. Upon the day of installation, the work extended into 2 days. Day 2 of installation was rescheduled twice, ending up with only 1 installer who finished the trim work as if he was just hired (very poor quality). Installers left the job site (inside and outside) with excess materials lying everywhere, screws and trash scattered around and a disaster of a "finished job" if you can even call it that.
Upon walk through the following day, all of my family members noticed incomplete trim areas, gaps in floor planks, huge gaps in trim seams, trim corners left with blunt, sharp edges, and colored caulk sloppily covering outer gaps in the perimeter. My daughters and I attempted several times to file complaints, also known as "tickets", requesting repairs to be done ASAP. Empire has a 1 year labor warranty that they said would cover these repairs. As the weeks passed, the market manager filed false statements claiming that he "messaged the customer confirming if she wanted the required warranty paperwork to fill out and submit, she declined stating she was satisfied with the work that was done."
Every attempt to call customer service or file a complaint to get someone to fix all of the installation issues resulted in them missing 2, TWO scheduled repair appointments. I now have a 3rd, yes a THIRD, installation repair appointment scheduled on March 16th which will be 2 months after the contract was signed (January 17th 2019).
Not one person, including supervisors and managers, can explain why the obviously needed repairs have not happened (please see pictures). I filed a complaint through the BBB, and Empire Today is still not taking responsibility for their less than professional job or taking action to fix it. I recommend anyone who is considering Empire Today to read lots of reviews including BBB comments and also to shop around BEFORE SIGNING ANYTHING with this company. Empire Today has responded to our BBB complaint several times stating "This complaint was filed by the daughter of our contracted customer. We've spoken to the contracted customer and she has no complaint regarding the flooring. We have offered service if needed under the one-year labor warranty."
Empire's promise detailed in contract: "Empire promises to perform all work in a professional manner and within industry standards. Empire will remove and transport away from my property any debris and waste materials that are generated by Empire, as well as any old flooring or other items that are being replaced, unless I ask them not to do so." The signed contract also states that "there are no written or spoken understandings changing or modifying the terms of this agreement".

Updated on Yeah right! As in my earlier review I mentioned the difficulty with Empire Today's customer service. NOW they simply respond here on this site how "disappointed" they are that I had a bad experience and would be in touch with me "shortly." I wonder if "shortly" means never because I haven't heard ONE WORD from these charlatans! THAT's how they responded!
Original Review: The problem began with a lying sales rep who claimed the installation was done by ET employees but instead 3 non-English speaking men showed up in a beat up van! After the installation I discovered some artwork that had been broken and placed BACK UP on the wall. They damaged new laminate flooring we installed the year before and they rolled our expensive coffee table damaging all along the edge leaving gouges. We may have new carpet but we’re left with costly replacements and the CS help? We were offered $50. After insisting more should be done we got $100 (which I haven’t seen) taken off of $1800 of ** carpeting which didn’t cover even one-fifth of the damages. These people are rude, their CS is low-brow and they are passing themselves off as affordable carpeting...More like carpetbaggers I’d say. Horrible experience! BTW, it took me over a dozen phone calls before we even got a response!

I have a poor experience with Empire Today. I had a rug installed in January and shortly after installation, my carpenter noticed that the rug as cut too short. I contacted customer service and was transfer to many people. After several days of calling, I finally was in touch with the installation manager and the coordination team. It has been 3 weeks since I contacted them and I continue to call and email daily and I have yet had a resolution to this complaint. The customer service of this company is very poor. I have emailed pictures to the company showing them the installation and they have agreed that they will take care of it but I have yet had anyone come back to fix the problem. I will never use this company again They are very hard to get things done. I guess they say you get what you pay for. That's why they are cheaper than most companies. But I would rather pay a little more and know I have customer service that stands behind their product.

We had Empire replace our upstairs and stairway carpeting. Everything went really well. The gal was really nice and she brought out samples of kinda what we were looking for without overwhelming us, so the appointment went great. The installation went really well too. It was pretty smooth-sailing. The installation itself took four and a half hours. I’ve never seen any guy move that fast. There was right around probably 2,100 square-feet and it was a pretty big job. The initial appointment probably took an hour and a half. It wasn’t long. I like the feel of the carpet. If we have a spill, as long as I take water to it right away, it’s done. The stain-resistance is really good.

Recently received a quote from a salesman for just under $10k for multiple rooms in my house. Once installers showed up onsite, additional work needed to be done which was going to increase the cost. The salesman knew NOTHING about flooring or installation. The installers were even honest about the poor quality of the product. I cancelled my entire order.
Then last week I get an email offering the complete contract at a significantly lower price. After multiple emails back and forth, I stopped getting responses from the rep offering the lower price. Suddenly today, I get an email saying that because we didn't commit last week the price had gone up again. SHE STOPPED ANSWERING EMAILS - HOW COULD I COMMIT WHEN I WASN'T GETTING RESPONSES??? Don't use Empire. Call a local flooring store and give your business to a small working man. Empire is full of hidden fees and salesmen just trying to get their commission.

Prior to installation I lost my job and when I called to cancel was told I would be charged 15% of the total cost of the project. While informing the Cancellation Department Rep that I lost my job, his response was "Life goes on". I was told that people were always cancelling so Empire had to impose the fee. I contacted my Salesperson to remind him that he said I could cancel anytime and explain my situation. He said he would take care of the 15% charge and 5 days later I have not heard back from him.

I've had a terrific time purchasing from Empire Today and I've told that to many people. I've been here for 17 years. The other carpeting was clean but it was worn. Then I saw a commercial once and I called for no apparent reason. I bought a very pale, close to white base carpeting. It's wall-to-wall in the living room and dining room area. The guys took out the old carpeting and when they left, the place was clean. They vacuumed, hooked up my TV, and put the furniture back exactly where I want it. The carpeting's quality is very good. I have two cats, which vomit. I had an accident here, but it was very easy to get out with just water.

Empire Today's rep is great and a nice guy. He was very pleasant, very knowledgeable, and my age, too. We had wood floor installed in the main living room. It is absolutely beautiful. I've been wanting to do it for a long time. Carpeting is going out the window, so I wanted hardwood floors, and they yanked up all my carpeting. The installation was a lot smoother than I even managed. I am 85 years old. They moved everything out on the front porch. And they took their time, explained what they were doing, and when they were done, they completely picked up and cleaned up everything. In fact, they had two saws out in the driveway. When they got all done, they even cleaned up my car park and blow all the sawdust off. They did a marvelous job. I told Empire's salesman that this is phase one and I'll be contacting him for phase two as far as my master bathroom and bedroom.

The only thing I was a little bit annoyed with was he over exaggerated the thickness of the pads. I called EmpireToday to come out and give a quote for a project which consist of removal of old wood flooring disposal and installation of new wood floors. They had two different sales going on. As with any company the sale items are usually very limited in choices. I didn’t have a problem with that. The problem came in when When the final quote was complete. The Empire Today representative merely wrote down a number on a piece of paper and stated that was my quote. He never showed any pricing per square foot for any type of flooring nor was there a breakdown showing what was charge for labor vs product. I asked him how did he arrive at the total cost without showing any breakdown? If you cannot produce a price for your product, how do I know that I am receiving a discount?
It was equivalent to going to the supermarket and scanning a shopping cart full of food where you hear the beep for each item scanned but no prices appear on the register until the cashier pushes the total button and you are then given the total price for your order. REALLY? Who does that? I am leery of any salesperson who cannot produce how a price was arrived at or able to tell you the cost of the products that they sell.

We had a house in Florida and we used Empire Today for carpeting and wood floors, and they have always done a good and a quick job. So, we have always been happy with the experience we have had. When we moved up here in North Carolina, we had some carpeting in the back that had some pet smell in it and we needed to get rid of the smell. So, instead of doing carpet, we went with doing laminate wood floors again. The only thing that shocked me was the price difference between Florida and North Carolina. We did about 1,200 square feet of stained laminate wood flooring in Florida and it was around $7,500. We came up here and we had 500 square feet, and it was almost $6,000. So, there was almost 1,000 square feet difference but the prices were about the same. Nevertheless, the guys here did a good job.
One little thing is, however, is that we have crawlspace underneath, and that is how the cable extends through the house. They did not follow the hole that was there before in one of the bedrooms, so one of our dressers has to be about six inches away from the wall so it does not bend the cable. We did not notice it until about a week later. But, they did fine on the other rooms. I'm satisfied with the installation, but I'm not satisfied with the price. It was way too high compared to what we paid them for.

There was another company that was advertising but I checked with Empire first. Somebody said I should’ve checked with those and compared. I had vinyl plank installed in every room in the whole house although I wish that I stayed with my Hickory laminate. I let the rep from Empire talked me into the vinyl because of the bathroom. The Hickory laminate was my pick before the man ever showed up and even after he showed the other ones, I said that I liked my Hickory. I wanted it in the whole house including the bathroom. The rep said no because of the water. He said that we had to put something else in there. So, they showed me the vinyl plank and it looked like my Hickory but I have a picture that I took of his board, and he showed me a little square that he has on the board. I took a picture of that and I took a picture of the floor that was beside it on their picture. Everything looked shiny.
After I got back here and Empire had it all done, there was nothing shiny to it though. It looks just like my Hickory. It was the same basic color, just a little bit redder or darker than the Hickory. But that doesn’t bother me because I love the color. It’s just the smoothness of it shows all your footprints and it's hard to clean. You are constantly wiping around it or trying to dust it with dust mop. I’m 70 and I have congestive heart failure and my kids wanted me to do it so that I wouldn’t be cleaning the carpets and getting down on that floor that I had because it was all white. I wish I had stayed with the Empire Hickory instead of going with this, but I can’t do my whole house over again.
The installation team was wonderful. They were young and I was worried about that but there was enough of them so that my little dog and I could get back in. I was worried about how many days it might take them and what problems they might run into. But they had it all done in one day and they were straight through lines, which was great. The only thing is, they’re not plumbers. I had to have the commode looked at twice after they left because they had a problem with one commode. We were on the phone with their boss before they left because it wasn’t sealed. It moved when you sit down on it and so, it wasn’t straight. They went over to tighten the other one and that one began to leak a little. So, he talked to the guy on the phone again and then, they took something, fixed it and they had to saw the nuts off.
I had to call my plumber in because I didn’t wanna call them back because I knew they weren’t plumbers. I wanted a real plumber who knew what they were doing. My plumber tightened both of them for me and then, when I went to run the washer, the water wasn’t coming in. So, the plumber did that. I’m glad I tried the washer the night before the plumber come or I wouldn’t have known that and I had to call him back. But as far as the workmanship, the guys did a good job. I walked around with them and even the trims look decent. I was worried the trim was gonna be all marked up.
Also, I had to call and file a problem with Wells Fargo because my Empire contract had me down for 9.99 for 48 months. It was the contract that I signed and I have a copy of but when they gave me the bill for one year, after that, it goes 28%. I called Wells Fargo and they said that that’s not what Empire gave them. So then, I had to call Empire. I was supposed to contact them because the bank didn’t do anything. When I called the bank, the rep said that Empire hasn’t gotten a hold of them. I set up a dispute between us and right now, I’m waiting on somebody to get me started on my payment plan at 9.99 that I agreed to. I just want Empire to get this straightened up.

They removed existing tile and carpet, leveled the floor, rearranged furniture and installed the new flooring in about 1 week. They completed the job for $12K, all cash deal.
Fast forward to today, bought a new house, a 1-story, 1,500 sq ft and discussed installing Vinyl due to having a pool. I offered to do the demolition and trash removal and they quoted me $15K!!! Half the house, half the work and almost a 60% increase in fees. When I advised that I was a returning customer and definitely had a better deal the first time, the sales representative just STOPPED communicating with me. What kind of business has Empire Today turned into? I will never use or recommend them again. Shoddy salesman, price gouging and poor customer service. Buyer beware! My husband did some research online and saw that Empire Today was a reputable company and they had some great ratings. We originally got our bedroom done, and then we'll come in about six or seven months and have the living room, stairs, back bedrooms and upstairs bedroom done. We had to do some remodeling in the bedroom so since we had everything out of there, we figured we might as well go and put carpeting because that was a lot easier to do with everything out of there. So, we thought we would do that and then get the rest of the house done later. The man who came and talked to us and brought samples was really good. He helped us with choices, was very personable, down to earth, good one on one person to talk to. He gave us good advice.
The installers came and worked really quick. They cleaned everything up well. The only issue I have is it is a big room, and you can definitely see the separation of one part of the carpet from the other. I don't know if that would change over time with walking over. It can't be changed. With the kind of carpet that we chose and the size of the room that it was put in, we're gonna see a seam either way. I am a little concerned about what that's gonna do though with the rest of our house if all the seams are gonna show going into rooms. The living room would be fine, but because that room was such a large run, it was almost too long runs of the carpet. That couldn't be avoided, but I do have a concern about the next time we have it done if that's gonna happen with areas too. So, we'll probably go into the rooms. I'd almost like to ask them about it before they come out to do the rest. It's not that big a deal to me because it's our bedroom. Nobody goes out there except us.

Stay away. A consumer fraud suit is all I can say! In short, basically we have experienced all the same issues as the other complaints! It's their game.. Wrong measurements.. Well that's a lie. We had a few other companies measured as well. They were correct, yet, had to came back another day and then took all the extra carpet, leaving us with none. Hmm, go figure where that roll of carpet went. Plus we tiled areas where they measured and we paid for that carpet! Here's why they don't give you a sample of the carpet and pad you pick out... Because that's where the switch comes in. You get cheap pad when you paid for better or best and that carpet ..That looks like the one you picked..Is it? How do you no, no sample as with the pad! Another switch...
I finally spoke to a rep on these issues..His response..They were not going to do anything and the installers won't remember why they took the carpet! Wow! (there's more to the truth but we will pull that out in court, not going to let them know the main proof we have). I spoke with a consumer fraud attorney, if they do not come up with a number to settle this out of court, I'm going all the way. Hire 2 separate carpet companies on video checking the pad and carpet.. I will not sit back on this. They are taking advantage of the elderly and women that dont know. And trust me I will hit the TV station local news stories along with social media. For now I am advised for this to be my only notice along with a follow up email on my conversation with rep. This is their only chance to settle this case. This is consumer fraud! Don't be taken advantage of!

One day I got a call from Empire Today. Apparently, it was something I filled out online, and I got a call and the rep said to me about scheduling an appointment to come out, that I wasn’t obligated. And then, I said, “Okay.” So, Dave came out and we got talking. He was very nice, very pleasant to work with, and he helped me out a great deal because it was something that I needed to do. The carpeting in here was making me sick because it was old. That rug was in here for maybe a little over 20 years. It was time.
I went with carpeting in my living room and the thickest one is 55. Real thick and plush. And then, I went with laminate flooring in my dining room. And in the kitchen, I got the GVT tile. The installation was very professional. The guys were great. I had some heavy furniture that had to be moved. I couldn’t move it. I’m just a tiny, little thing. So, the guys came in. Everything was well open and clear for them to do the living room. I had two guys in the living room, and then the other two guys were here doing my laminate and tile. Everybody was busy doing something and it went very quick and well. They had the carpet down in no time. It was just a little bit longer for the dining room and the kitchen because the tile in the kitchen had to be done a certain way.
I am so happy with the flooring in here. It looks great. The carpet really brightened up the room. I was so nervous at first because I hadn’t took the time to compare the carpeting that was laid down in the living room to what was on the step, and so I thought, “Oh, Lord, it’s gonna clash. It ain’t gonna look right.” When they got here and when we started, they gave me a sample of it, and I put it down there on the step, I was so thrilled. I couldn’t wait for them to get it done. It looks so nice.
I've already told quite a few of my friends. They were like, “Oh, wow. It looks great. Where did you get it done?” I have no problem telling them, “I got it done with Empire.” I love the quality of the product. I like the look. The installation part of it was excellent. You can't beat the price because I've called around before I got that phone call, and others' prices were absolutely outrageous for what I wanted done.

In the past, I had regarded about getting a carpet installed. It was just a matter of being able to afford it. We were able to get financing for it and that's how we were able to do it. We had carpet all throughout the home except for the high traffic areas. We had several square feet of it installed. The salesperson was very good. She was knowledgeable about the products. It didn't take too long at all. Most people would take a long time and go around and around. We had already done the research and told her what we wanted so we could narrow it down to her showing us just a few of the products instead of going through them all.
My parents were the ones home for installation, but it seemed to look good. We liked the darker brown color one and we had that installed. There were a few spots that may come up in the future, like there are some areas that have threads that are coming out. But we haven't done anything with it. We're just waiting to see what happens instead of nagging on it or pulling on it. We're leaving it alone just to see if it does have the warranty. But other than that, there was nothing that was left or wasn't completed. It looked pretty good.

I had to take off of work for 2 1/2 hrs with NO PAY so I could be home for this appt. I received a confirmation recorded call the night before confirming this appt. Well 9 am to 11am came and went. NO PHONE CALL. NO EMAIL saying anything about empire NOT showing up. They did NOT SHOW up. So now not only didn't I order the blinds I wanted to order but I lost almost 3 hrs pay. And to top it off, if the blinds were to my liking, I was going to have them install 1200 sq feet of wood flooring.. Well that isn't going to happen. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND EVERYONE TO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING.

We just had carpet installed on the entire upper level, on the middle level, main level, two rooms, and then the stairs to the basement. I had two estimates prior to Empire. Empire's quote was within range from our quote that we had about 18 months prior to doing it. We also got a family member that had Empire do their carpet, so that’s why we kinda went with Empire. They came in and did their job. They’ve done a very well job. We fell in love with our new carpeting. Our house is 12 years old. It looks brand new now.

Price had a big factor for me and it was worth considering 15 or 20 years ago what I paid then when I first got something done. I got Empire to install laminate flooring in my home's kitchen and the installation went great. I was very happy with the gentleman who put the floor down. Before I knew it, everything was cleaned up. I didn’t even know he was here, which was how clean and fast he was. The floor is great and I am happy with it. Empire is a good company.

If I could give them negative -100 percent I would!! We got our carpets and laminate flooring done about a year and a half ago. I totally regret getting it through them!!! Such a waste of money and time!! However, they were quick to installed both within 48 hours total. The quality of the products are poor. Carpets bunched up really bad due to the installation of the padding. So now we have overlapping carpets which is embarrassing. The padding shifted under the second connected layer of padding to create the overlapping effect. Definitely an installation mistake.
We are waiting until we pay off this crappy job to get them done by a reputable company! We called them about coming out and fixing it but it was just a week later after our warranty past even though it happen just 8 months in. Just never got the chance to call right away and the salesperson told us they would fix it when we called them. Made the mistake of not calling right away. They only will come out if we pay more money (COUPLE HUNDRED MORE), which is unbelievable. I will not pay them another dime.
Our kitchen and dining room with the laminate oak flooring, horrible materials. It is peeling and chipping. One little drop of water and it swells. For crying OUT loud IT'S a kitchen and should be able to handle a few drops of water. The saleperson should have been honest and not lie by telling us this type of flooring was ok for kitchen and dining room. I seen reviews before getting them to come out for an estimate. I should have listen because there were good percentage of customers who had the same experience. They do not stand by their products. I wish I wasn't such a good hearted person thinking everyone will experience something different and to have faith they will do a great job. Next time I will trust my gut feeling. Please beware save your money, and heartache of an embarrassing job!!! Please you will be grateful you listened!!

I had a wonderful experience with Empire. They were the first choice when I got laminated waterproof flooring installed in the dining room. During installation, the team was early and ready to work. They did a perfect job and left in a timely manner. My floor is nice and I like the whole thing about the flooring. I also like that I don't have to clean carpet anymore. I will be calling them when I'm ready to do my living room which is hopefully sometime this year.

Initially our sales person told me that our carpet could be delivered after 2:00 pm on Monday (this was the Thursday prior). They called that morning To say they were on their way, but I told them I was at work. They had to cancel and move it to Saturday. They showed up on Saturday, but said that the salesman measurements were wrong and they didn’t have enough carpet. They said they would come back Tuesday- no one showed. Tuesday night they said they would come on Wednesday. No call from Empire Wednesday morning so I called and they didn’t even know that our job wasn’t finished. There is no communication between any of the departments or their contractors.
The product is good, but you can buy it anywhere. They contract out their installation as well so you can get that elsewhere as well. So I’ve already burned through vacation time and still don’t have my carpet finished!!!! No one has called to ask how they can make this right. The installation department is so rude and said it’s my fault because I work and unless it’s the first job of the day they can’t say whether it will get done. I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN!!!
Tiffany, we take your concerns seriously and will be in touch with you shortly. Thank you for your patience.

The salesman of Empire was very knowledgeable about what he was talking about. He wasn’t trying to upsell everything. We told him what we wanted and that was what he gave us. Also the installation went a lot quicker than I thought it would be. And they did an excellent job. Another company did a square-footage in my daughter's house and it was horrible. She went round and round until they finally credited her a bunch and came in and repaired it all. Ours was first shot in and out. Our flooring looked great and we’re real happy with it.

A Realtor friend of mine had dealt with Empire before and had talked to the sales rep. She referred me to him and I called him. He was really helpful and came right over. Her advertising and the ease of purchasing was the big thing. I also like the follow-up. He did a quick measurement and gave me the price right away. He also made a suggestion and showed me the different alternatives and I went from there. It was really smooth. I got the credit card and qualified right away. I'd definitely recommend Tony, the sales rep.
Then the flooring was installed within a week or so after I decided. Although the installers were subcontractors and I'd rather see employees, they were nice, on time, pleasant to work with. They did my living room and did a good job. The flooring is a nice gray color. Recently, I called them back and we put some flooring in an entranceway. We also carpeted my stairway.

Contracted with Empire Today to install new carpet, the manufacturer was Mohawk Industries. After vacuuming the first time I noticed a brown powdery residue collecting in my new white Shark canister sweeper. Contacted the company and they replied it was probably grout from the sub flooring. After months of texts with the sales rep, emails with our local and national office in IL, pictures and videos, they are now claiming it’s normal household dust. It started one month after installation and continues. I have had 2 respiratory issues after vacuuming so I’ve given up stirring up whatever this powder is.
With that kind of customer service with this senior citizen, well it’s just not right. I would steer clear of Empire Today. Their response was unacceptable. They sent an inspector, he took pictures of the carpet, checked the backing, and applied a purple solution. His report no manufacturing issues were observed. In the end I suggested we vacuum the roll of leftover carpeting which I have saved at my home. Empire Today called today... Their response. "Too bad!!"

I priced a couple things outright and I ultimately went with Empire Today. The sales agent was good but I wanted something in a sheet vinyl or like a vinyl that had a decorative pattern on it, like that real fancy porcelain tile you see if you watch HGTV. He did not have any of those things in his car. He rolled in with wood, but I didn’t wanna go with a wood floor because I have hardwood oaks throughout my whole house, except for my bathroom upstairs which has ceramic tile. I didn’t think I was gonna find something close to my oak hardwood. But the last book we looked at had a reddish cast that was similar. It was darker than what I had, but it was complimentary to the actual floor coloring I have in my house. I went with that because I liked it immediately, but I also felt like I was being pressured. I didn’t think I was gonna get this man out of my house without agreeing to it.
The guys from installation were absolutely awesome. In fact, the one guy went above and beyond because the sales representative ordered the wrong color we wanted. The color floor I have is a reddish brown and he ordered an ash gray. The installers caught that and the guy had already called in and told them to get it ready before he even knocked on my door. There were two issues with my floor. One, I did not want a floating because I had an issue with a previous floating floor and the peel and stick wasn’t going to work with the floor that I had. I talked to the installers and the guy went above and beyond, assured me that I would not have any issues to the point of giving me his phone number and anything else I could possibly need in the event that I would have any type of problem, which I have not. The installers corrected the sales rep’s problem. They were amazing. Their work was phenomenal.
The installer ended up coming back the next day because once again, the sales rep did not order a cove base to go around the flooring, like the trim. So, he called Empire Today and said that they needed that and told me, “We’ll have it ready for you tomorrow.” The guy picked it up and installed it the next day. He did a really good job. However, in my mind, I overpaid for my floor. The salesman first quoted me $2,600 for it, which was way too much money. They did drop it down to $1,600, but then I found out from my sister they were running a 75% sale. The salesman never told me about that. It seemed he was more interested in making the sale. I kept saying to him, “No. That’s just too much money.” He said, “What if I did this? And let me call my manager. What would you think would be the price for it? What about 1,600?” I said, “1,600 would be more doable.” He came back in and said, “I talked to my manager and they lowered it to 1,600.”
Coming in at a really high price, and then going down off a grand was a bit shady to me. I’m still not convinced that I didn’t overpay for it. But the quality of the floor seems to be really good. I watched the installers and with the way they installed it, it was worth it. That 1,600 is roughly around the right price. Just to be able to walk in our kitchen and know that it was done, and it was done right, and that the installer was willing to guarantee that if I did have any lifting that he would take care of it. I felt like I’m paying for my peace of mind. I’m a professional cleaner and I just use vinegar and water on these type of floors, and it works.

We just had two of the bedrooms carpeted by Empire Today. Once the installers got here, they did a good job. They were in and out before noon, and I was very satisfied. I plan on doing our master bedroom and what I wanna do is part of that. There's an important area there that my wife has her desk and they don't wanna do in the laminate and I want the rest of it carpeted. I talked to their rep, Luke, when he came out and gave us his estimate that I didn't wanna get into all that work because I'm gonna repaint that area. I had painted both bedrooms before they put the carpet in, but I'm 80 years old, and I don't get around as fast as I used to. So, I just talked to him about putting that laminate in about a third of the bedroom or around that area.
My problem is I got one of those put-together bunks. It's a queen size with drawers underneath. I explained to Luke that I don't wanna tear that thing all the way down. So, I went down to Home Depot and I spotted these slider deals. Four of them are for the carpet and the carpet ones go on the laminate. My plan is to take all the drawers out and the mattress and put those sliders under there after the laminate went in. They could move the bed over there on the laminate floor and then finish up with the carpet. As soon as I get this other thing figured out, I'm gonna give Luke a call and they can come out here and see if they can get that master bedroom done.

I got vinyl that sorta matched the walls a little bit in my kitchen and when I first was gonna get the installation done, I discovered that there was moisture on the floors underneath the old vinyl. So, I had to delay having the new one put in so that I could have somebody come in, do mitigation, pull that up, dry the floor, and find out why moisture was underneath it.
But after I got that done, I called then the installers came and put in my new vinyl. Different things also came up that I had to attend to at the time, so it took a few months for the installation to be complete because I had to wait about a month and a half. But Empire's reps were patient with me. I was pleased as well with the guys that came out and took their time. They did a good job in putting it in.

The gentleman did a good job installing the carpet, taking the old one out and putting the new one in. The only thing was that when he first came out to look at the room, he gave me a price. In the afterthought, I wish he had a complete breakdown like how much the carpet was, the padding, the labor to put it in, the taxes, and so forth. That didn't happen and I was a little bit upset about that. I think it's something that should be done and a lot of consumers would appreciate it. I've had a lot of work done on my house this year and every single one had an absolute itemized breakdown of exactly each part.

Once our carpet was ready to be installed they called us and I returned their phone call 15 minutes later but the scheduler had already gone home. 3 days later I get a call asking when we would like to schedule our installation. After finally getting it scheduled, we again received a 7 am phone call telling us we were the second stop of the day. At 4:45 pm we received a call from the installer stating he was on his way. The installation of the hardwood floors was good. Eugene, the installer, was very good. He listened to any questions that I had. The flooring that I got had some wide planks and some longer planks and they were not all even. He asked me about the pattern and I loved the way the random pattern that he put down looks. His two assistants were good, too. They were professional and they respectfully put everything back. They even asked me where the furniture was placed before in each room, so it would go back exactly like it was. They also put sliders on the furniture.
The carpet installers, however, were not the same. They were a different crew and they did not put sliders under the furniture. They wanted me to have everything removed out of everything. Then, they threw things in a pile in a room, then did that room, and then threw things in a pile in another room. I had stuff from three bedrooms all over the place and stuff thrown in the closet, and nothing was put back like it was. So, it was very different between the carpet installers and the hardwood installers. There was also a transition in the bathroom that they took off and replaced, but the screws were not quite long enough and the carpet was plusher than the old carpet I had. So, it was loose and dangly. Because they had already left, Eugene then fixed that for me.

BUYER BEWARE. MUST READ IT ALL. On 1/22 we purchased floors to be installed on 1/27/2020 in our Delaware rental property. We drove up from Maryland (where we live) the night before. Salesman sold us floors was pleasant. We sign contract on his handheld device. He quickly asked for a deposit. He scanned our check with that device, which almost "IMMEDIATELY" withdraw $1018 from our checking account. My wife asked for receipt and copy of signed contract. He said would receive (within 24 hours) by cob 1/23. Call salesmen at end of day on 1/23, because we did not receive the contract or deposit receipt.
Called again early on 1/24, at end of day about no receipt. Call corporate 2 times late on 1/25 and 1/26 and still nothing. This is not good business and misconduct. Cannot believe with technology a receipt is not automatically provided after (writing check) deposit. More surprise no contract after 48 hours, which states how many days you can rescind.
On 1/27 the installers showed up on time. The 1st thing they asked for was FULL PAYMENT, over $4000 before starting. We needed floors installed, so we could drive 2 hours back to Maryland, for work the next day. After that… The installer said 1) They can install floors because house was too cold..WHAT (it was 68 degrees in house). Told them I can turn temp up and it will be warmer by time they ready to install 4 hours later, after deinstall. 2) They said pargo wood in bedroom was glued to concrete and contained asbestos. Took a picture and sent to his supervisor. He agreed and said it is not asbestos which is white, just "black" glue. 3) Then they said floors were not level (HUH) 4) Next they said salesmen mismeasured floor by 65 sq ft, and they did not bring enough floor.
So they completed the deinstall on 1/27 and said they had to go to dump. Will return tomorrow 1/28 for install (YOU KIDDING RIGHT). We had to take another day leave from work to wait for install on 1/28. Called corporate again to complain about their business practices (no contract, no receipt of deposit, cod before installing and not delivering the product because of installer concerns on 1/27). Asked that someone in management call me to discuss compensation. They NEVER called. NOTE: Please do not run into and issue. Customer services it the worst. They are the most MONEY HUNGRY and I mean MONEY HUNGRY company I have ever dealt with. I am 60 years old. Later that day on 1/27 I finally received my deposit receipt and contract in email, FIVE DAYS later...smh.
Installers arrived on 1/28 and on time. Only issue is that they did not have a mitre saw. They went to purchase one in Delaware. They installed the boxes they left the prior day. Did not see them bring any extra flooring boxes...SMH. Ask them if floors were level enough for install. They said the floors are level, no issue (SCRATCHING MY HEAD). The install went well after that. Thank the Lord. P.S. NEVERRRR AGAIN

When we contacted Empire to look into having two small rooms and a living room floored with a wood-like flooring, we knew we probably wanted "luxury vinyl". We have friends that have it in their house and it looks fabulous. With dogs, it is really the only choice. The salesman knew his "stuff" and sold us by telling us about the company's reputation and warranties. The all-in-one nature of the company was also a big selling point, as we wanted it done fast and we wanted the work to be quality. We were told the furniture would be moved, the carpet removed, the floor leveled, the new floor installed, the trim replaced and quarter-round put in to leave a finished look, and the transitions would look "great". I am left with a cheap looking mess.
I am sitting in my living room now and, if I squint, the floor sort of looks like a wood floor. However, the transitions are big, plastic, eyesores that were originally barely adhered to the floor. They popped and moved when touched. The quarter-round was poorly cut with badly sawn bevels and haphazardly nailed into the existing trim work. Then the installers squirted a little caulk over the holes and left it to dry in blobs in a messy, ugly manner.
The original builders of the house undercut the fireplace brick at the floor level and there was a gap between the bottom of the brick and the concrete floor. The installers had no solution for that and decided to just fill the gap with clear caulk, which shines in the light and looks terrible. There was also a section of the floor in front of the bathroom that was not leveled and sank in when we stepped on it. In general, it looked terrible. I wasn't home when they installed, but my wife was. She thought it looked pretty good at the time and was just happy to have it done, but didn't notice the details. When I got home, I flipped out. I immediately called and sent an email to complain about the many issues I could see right away.
I did not get a response to my email or my call, but I did get an email to leave a comment about our install experience, which I did. I receive a call right away after writing about the things I was upset about. The woman who called, did so because she thought I had written an online review like this one. I had not, because I wanted to give them a chance to make corrections first. She kept claiming I had written a review. I continued to correct her and say that I had just written a comment on their customer form and had responded on their forms and phone lines, but that I had not commented on social media or review sites.
She then asked me to tell her what was wrong with the install and I did in detail. She arranged for the same installers to come out the following Monday on our day off to correct their mistakes. I told her that they would need to be at my house early, at 8 and be gone by 11 because I had an appointment at 1:00 p.m. She called just before the appointment to tell me that they couldn't be there until 2 or 3. We rescheduled for today, Jan. 28th and they arrived right on time.
When the installers arrived, they told me that they could not do anything about the fireplace undercut, the nail holes in the quarter-round (aside from cleaning them), or the fast transitions. Of course, I knew they couldn't do anything about making the quality of the flooring look any better. They did attempt to level the floor where there was a dip; however, after leaving, I found a new area just a foot away where they had made it un-level in another spot after attempting to level the original bad spot. The installer pulled out the metal brackets under the transitions because he couldn't get them to sit flat, and chose to just glue them straight to the floor instead. I do not have hope they will stay that way.
I guess they did the best they could with what they had and what they are told to do. The installer told me, "we don't paint or finish the quarter-round", which is not what we were told by the salesman. I signed off on the little things they corrected, but I am still not happy and feel like I have wasted a whole lot of money. If I had to do it again, I would not choose Empire. The finish work is not good and I believe this is as good as it gets with this company. I now have to live with this. I blame myself for not researching more. That is why I give them 2 stars instead of 1. I own part of this and will give them a star because of that.
Jay, we're disappointed to hear that your floor is not meeting your expectations. We sincerely apologize for the experience, and will be in touch with you soon to learn more.

Empire had better deals and their pricing was more reasonable than the other places I looked at. So, I got them to install vinyl plank flooring in my living room. The new flooring makes the whole house look so much different and bigger, and I like it a lot better than the carpeting. I’m totally happy and satisfied.

We liked Empire's sales rep. They did really well in explaining the product, going over what would work well in the home and answering all of our questions. They were very thorough about that. Empire's pricing was good too. It seemed reasonable. They installed carpet in bedrooms and flooring for the rest of the home, and it’s great.

My sister had done some carpeting at her home in Indiana, and I thought it was fantastic in the price she had paid. So I called Empire and a gentleman came out. The salesman was very kind. He did the initial measurements and went over everything with me. He took his time and answered all my questions. On the day of installation, the crew came out. They were very professional and did everything. We did run into a problem at the end. When it came time to sign the completion papers, I noticed that there was nothing due from me. I couldn't understand that as when the initial salesman came out, we had talked about financing. I told him I wanted to put a certain amount down. When he wrote the receipt from Empire, he had written down the balance that was due. He informed me that when the service people come out, I would give them the check for the money I wanted to put down. That was when things got crazy.
The guy couldn't understand why I was trying to give him the money, since I'm not supposed to collect anything. I told him it was not the agreement we had agreed on. I got my receipt and showed him. I said that this was almost a $1,900 job here and I was putting $1,000 down and left the balance of 895. And that's the way the salesman had written it up and I showed him that receipt. I told him that I was supposed to give him a $1,000 check that day. He was still confused. He would not take my check, and he ended up calling some office. And then I got very angry and upset. I thought that what he did next was very rude.
The gentleman who came in to do the work was Hispanic, and there's nothing wrong with that. He had been here for about a hour or so, and had talked English to me the entire time. But when he gets on the phone to begin talking to whoever it was he was talking to, he stood in my living room and the whole conversation is in Spanish. I didn't understand what he was saying. So I told him that I needed to understand what he was saying.
He ended up having to get my banking information and my card number, so they can get the payment. I ended up writing him a check. At any rate, we did get it worked out because I did talk with the young lady and I explained to her what we had gone through with the initial salesman and what I was expected to pay. She told that I was okay for $8,000. I said her I understood all of that. And then she told me that I was down for the full amount to be financed. But I argued with her that I didn't want it financed for that much. I told her I'm putting it down, and then finance it. That was when I got upset. It went absolutely crazy in the end. I felt like I was being pushed to finance the entire amount, and I kept telling the young lady that was not what I wanna do. But other than that, their salespeople and the crew that came out were fantastic. I like Empire's product and the service was great.
