I had some carpets installed in almost the whole house. It's about 3,000 square feet. Aside from Empire, I got a couple of other quotes. I ended with Empire because they had a really good 50/50 deal. The salesman, John, came out and he was awesome. He really sold us on it. The carpet is supposed to be really good and it was about the same as one of the quotes I got that was a medium-grade carpet. John was pretty sweet and he made a whole diagram of our house.
The installation was a mania but the crew did awesomely. They were supposed to do it over three days but they got it done in two. They stayed 11 hours on the first day and another 10 on the second day to get the job done. I really like the carpets. My only complaint would be there are a couple of spots you step on and it feels harder. We're giving that some time before we bring it to somebody's attention. Overall, my experience was pretty smooth sailing and easy.

Empire Today was the most convenient to work with. We had put up carpets in three locations, the living room, the stairs, and the master bedroom. It looks great. The installers were very professional. They helped me move some heavy furniture and they left the house looking immaculate. It couldn't have been better. We'd be considering using them again for additional renovations in the house.

The installation was gonna be too long with other companies and we were impressed with the presentation from the Empire Today rep, so we decided to go with Empire. We had them install the carpet in my basement but the experience wasn't a very good one. The first day they were supposed to install it, nobody showed up. We called them and they said I never answered the email or their text. I never got an email or a text. So, they rescheduled it for the next day.
One guy showed up and he said that he didn't have enough carpet and he couldn't move all the stuff by himself. So after that, the next guy came back and he measured and realized they needed more carpet. They then reschedule me for that Saturday. That Saturday, they came in and installed it. The work done was very good. I like the look and the way the carpet feels when walking on it. I'd tell my friends and family about my experience with Empire. But I would also tell them that when they actually came and did the work, they did a very good job.

I was replacing all the carpet in three rooms that had the original carpet in the house. It was old and it has been there for a long time. I just decided to get it done. I Googled flooring and saw Empire Today had a 50/50/50 sale. The salesman was good. He explained everything. I got the feeling at first that because the pricing didn't reflect the 50% savings on the material, the installation, but then towards the end, he showed me the original prices and then the 50% discount. I felt more comfortable once I saw that. And then, the installer was fantastic. It was a one-man operation and he did it all in one day. I couldn't even believe he got it all done. He was very courteous, meticulous, and professional, and a very hard worker. I was happy that one guy was able to do all that work instead of me watching two or three guys around all my stuff.
The salesman showed me three different types and price ranges. I picked the middle rug and I was happy with it. It must have been the cheapest stuff you could buy that was in there before. It's a huge difference once Empire installed the rug. I walked on it, and I was amazed with the quality of the product. I could have went with a little cheaper, had I known that the one that I picked was so high caliber. It was very good stuff it could last the rest of my life.

The installers were awesome. The carpet that we chose is what we wanted and it looks great. However, I'm not satisfied with the padding. It was explained that the padding we were going to get from Empire was better than what we had. I also talked to the salesman and he was with us when we went upstairs and looked at the padding and carpet. He said what Empire carries is better than what we had. With that knowledge, we went with the padding in those four rooms that was less quality than the one we had put in our bedroom. It was less thick so it wasn't as plush. It's kind of hard. You can pretty much feel the sub-floor when you stand on it and when you walk on it. In the stairway, there's a tack strip on each step. Towards the back of each step, you can feel the tack strips through the carpet. That's how thin the padding is. That was the unsatisfactory part. We were told one thing but it's not really what it is.
The problem was there were no samples of the padding. We went with the salesman's word. If we would have known that the padding was that thin, we wouldn't have gotten it. Empire told us that the salesmen don't carry around samples of padding. Empire is also telling us that to get the padding replaced, it's gonna cost us for the labor for them to come out and pull the carpet up then they would charge us whatever it is for the padding.

We had Empire Today install vinyl in three bedrooms and the closed-in porch. I liked the way they talked and the warranty. I had some bubbles show up in my closed-in porch. Empire came back within a week and took care of it. They sliced it, got the air out of it, put glue under, and ran a roller over it real good. I couldn't even tell where they cut it out. It's a lot easier to keep clean than carpet.

There were previous work that Empire had done for us to other homes. This time around, we did laminate flooring and the work was for the primary closet, primary bedroom, great room, dining room, kitchen, and bath. I call the salesman Mr. G. Because of the previous contact with the company, he continued on to the same line that the other salespeople did which made me a return customer. Mr. G had the information I needed and he answered the questions I asked. He brought in quite a few books to look at and he made suggestions. When I told him what I wanted, he showed me what I wanted then he showed me what I needed. I went with what I needed. What he showed me and to have it installed made sense.
The timeframe for the installation was acceptable. It took two days because of the area that the installers had to do. If they had done it in one day, it would have been a little bit of a concern to me. I love the flooring and I'm pleased with it. It makes my area look bigger. My dog has to learn how to walk on it now. We had a carpet. The flooring now is definitely much cleaner than the carpeting. My dog and I are not sneezing and coughing. I'm very pleased with it.

3 1/2 years ago we had Empire install new carpeting in all the rooms of our vacation home. We have only used the house less than 100 days since and due to coronavirus haven’t visited the house in last 8 months. Last time there we saw some buckling but waited 8 months till we returned to call Empire. Empire came out and said the whole house needs to be re-stretched and we will have to pay for it since the installation warranty is only one year. Seems to me this is an installation issue. Contacted another company which stated that it looks like improper installation especially since the whole house needs to be re-stretched. We have no kids or pets just two retired people using the house a few days a month. Empire should do better by its customers.

They ignored our complaint about the floor for over 3 months. It wasn't till we threatened to contact the BBB that the office manager called. She came out, agreed with what we saw and stated that it would be fixed. She even went as far to say that a professional wouldn't leave it like that. Now, they are refusing to fix what she promised. The floor is buckling, the quarter round is not secured properly or even installed properly. The transitions are all coming up. They pulled the base boards loose when removing the old carpet.
The toilets were left loose as well. They damaged the walls and the door stoppers, didn't caulk the fireplace all the way and pulled the trim away from our cabinets. They installed the floor too tight and it has caused buckling but since there is a wheelchair in the house, it's not their fault... She's a fool and has the worst customer service. They refuse to fix anything because they want to claim it's the house settling. Really? The house is not even 2 years old. They are a joke and will take the money and not care about the quality. We paid $14,000 for this and got a $6,000 job. They are nothing but liars there. Now, they are refusing to make it right other than the quarter round and toilets. What about all the rest? Don't trust them!!!

When we set up the installation, I couldn't get ahold of someone from Empire Today. I had to leave a lot of messages and it would be a day or two before they'd return phone calls. So the follow-up at that point was a little slow. They did eventually get back to me. I thought we would get a call a day before about installation, and I got a call at 10 o'clock the day of, versus they said by 9:00, of when it was going to be installed. Also, there was a little bit of mix-up on the financing. Empire Today said that I had to pay for it before it would be installed. I tried to follow up with people and it took a couple of days for the follow-up. Other than that, their rep and installation team were good. They installed the Berber carpet very quickly and they cleaned up after themselves. They were very nice and professional. The carpet feels very well.

I’m very dissatisfied. They didn't do a good job in the kitchen. They didn't do what they said they were gonna do. Now the floor still squeaks because they didn’t put anything under it. The guy didn't even want to take up the old linoleum that was on the floor. I had to dispose of it myself. But I don't have any complaints about the carpet in the living room. We also moved out everything in the living room. When they came, all they had to do was put down the carpet. In the kitchen, all they had to do was move the fridge here and there. The guy said, “I'm putting this down on my papers. You will get a discount.” But we didn't get any discount.

Empire Today would able to take $500 off of the job for the hardwood floors and be able to get the job done by Monday for my husband's birthday on the 23rd of January, so we went with them. Their sales lady was very awesome. She came from Evansville. We picked out the wrong color and we matched it with the table in the middle of our rug. It did not match the base of the floor. So when the sample came all the way from Illinois, they had to drive up here two and a half hours with all this wood and it wasn't the right color. So we had them pull everything out as far as they could go. If Empire Today would have had the material in Madison, they would have been able to do it one day. The two guys came up to do it and they had to come back. They both couldn't come back the next day because of the ice storm. But one guy came back the next day and he did an awesome job. We’re so happy with it.
There was one section that my husband didn't notice because he was not a perfectionist like me. We had Empire do it because we didn't know what we were going to do with the carpet. My husband has got a bad back so for him to do it himself will be a lot of work. It was worth the money to have it done. But there was a little skidmark. It looked like someone took their heel on this one piece of wood. I wish I could get that replaced. It's just one little slab. If they could come back and fix that little piece, that would make my day.

I got the hypoallergenic carpet for my bedroom. It looks very nice and they did a really good job installing it. There's not anything weird or coming up. The carpet is hypoallergenic but my concern is that however they attach it is definitely not hypoallergenic. It's kind of a plasticky smell. It's been a couple of weeks and it's hard to breathe so I've been having to air it out a lot every day like crazy with my air purifier that I would set in the room and open the windows and fans.
When the sales guy came out, he was trustworthy and there was no pressure at all. He had a lot of samples and he kinda talked me through it. I felt comfortable with him. But it turned out that Empire Today's sales people are independent. He would respond to my texts and he would call his boss to make things happen. Then they called to confirm my appointment which I made two months out and paid a large deposit to hold that time and date. When I tried to call the number back because I was in a meeting when they called, it picked up and said to leave a message. I tried the 800 number on the website and the hold times were like an hour. Then they called me back again and I couldn't pick up. They left a message saying, “If you don't call us back and confirm this, your appointment is cancelled. We don't know when you can reschedule.”
I called back and confirmed but I hadn’t heard back. Finally, they showed up. The morning of, they were supposed to call to give me the time because it could be between like 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM. They never did. Luckily, I was available but the guys that came weren't professional at all. They did some things that made me really mad. They were very loud. They had no idea what products they were putting in. I said wanted to confirm if the carpet is hypoallergenic but they didn’t know what that meant because English wasn’t their primary language. That’s not a big deal to me but the problem was they didn’t know if it was hypoallergenic.
They had all their tools and they needed to set them somewhere. They went and opened a door I had closed and walked into my master bathroom. It was kind of odd to just kind of start going into other rooms. I have these very plush and expensive white rugs in there and they set their dirty tools on there. When I saw it, I kind of got upset. They busted some of the tiles and I don’t blame them but I wish they would have mentioned it. I asked the guy for receipt for my final payment and he acted weird. He pulled out the form that kinda had what would be my receipt on it and I found out why he was acting weird. At the bottom, I have to sign it and write in how my experience was. He had already filled it out for me and signed my name. I told him that’s not even a legal thing to do. It was really sketchy.
I felt very alone in the process. I had bought this from this guy and he was great but after that, I didn’t know what was going on, who was showing up and when they were showing up. Then they came but I didn’t know who they were and if they had the right product. I don't think I would use them again and I definitely wouldn't recommend them to a friend.

I've gone with a few different options in the past, but it's been a while and I thought Empire was something I’d try out because I've heard so much about them through their advertisements. I liked, in this day of COVID, that they were willing to bring all the samples and we could match to what we wanted right here in the house. I was doing a bonus room upstairs so I was looking to carpet the stairwell and then do either a vinyl or a laminate for the flooring upstairs, and I went with the laminate.
The gentleman that came was friendly and knowledgeable, and went over the options with me, and tried different samples that my wife and I looked at. We were able to match them up against the wall and try to get a good look of what it might be, what it might look like coming up the stairs, and what it would look like inside the room itself. He narrowed it down, although there was not really a great big deal of options. He only came with a few books and had it narrowed down somewhat quickly. But for what we got and what we chose, I was pretty pleased with. He was with us an hour and a half and the purchase was done right there, and I went with the credit option so it took a few more minutes to apply for that. All in all, it was a fairly smooth process.
The installers were willing to come in within two or three days. However, I had to delay it a little bit because I wanted to paint the room and the hallways first. Then I had a little bit of travel in there. It was about three weeks before I had them come. We did the laminate flooring first on Monday. There was one person that installed that and that took about five hours roughly. Then about two days later, a team of three people came and did the carpeting in the stairwell. That was maybe an hour and a half. All in all, it was good. As far as the finished product, it looks good.
They also installed a quarter round to go up against the molding and looking at that and the threshold at the top of the stairs, that was a little bit shoddy. In fact, I have to call the gentleman back and then I’ll see if they could come out and just clean it up a little bit because there's a little bit of a tack or a nail that's kind of popping out a little bit on the threshold. It's not really dangerous, but it still is enough to step on it. I don't think it's going to break the skin but it shouldn't be there. There is couple of other little areas where they could have done a little bit of a neater job with the quarter round. Other than that, I'm mostly pleased. I just want to get them back out and finish up given the money I spent.
Another thing was they were advertising like 75% off of the wood floor. That was one thing that drew me in. When they got here, right away, they said, “Oh, well, that's a cheaper material I could give you, I've got some flexibility to give you a different discounts.” The rep kind of went over that with me and was showing me different things. I was thinking it's a gimmick. It was like 50% that he was giving me, but I ended up paying about 700 more than I really had in mind for spending. But I didn't do a whole lot of pricing out because they're trying to get the sale right away and I was pretty pleased with what our selection was. Overall, they did a good job. I just need to get them back out. The sales guy was good and I didn't feel a bunch of pressure because I knew he's following a script.
John, thank you for sharing your experience. We take your concerns seriously and will be in touch with you shortly to discuss further.

I asked the installer if there was any problem with the subfloor, that I could put screws down while they put carpet down, was told there were none. There is a spot where it has a buckle in the floor but they say this one spot is causing the problem in other rooms and tell me it’s going to be over 900.00 to repair. Empire had a good price and a product that I liked better than the others offered me. The sales representative that came out was a little pushy. I actually liked the sales representatives better from the other companies that I got estimates from. But because I liked Empire's product and the price was better, I decided to go with them. I try not to be too swayed by the salesperson because they're trying to make the sale. He was too pushy for my taste. The other ones were more trying to inform me about their products. They were trying to sell to me, but they weren't as obvious as the salesperson from Empire Today.
The installers came on time. In fact, they came early, which perturbed me a little bit. But they didn't have traffic. And with COVID, everything is running a little more smoothly in the Los Angeles area. So, they were a little bit early. They brought all the products. They did the kitchen, plus a bathroom. They probably took about six hours to do it. I'm also having my cabinet replaced, and so, they left me some of the quarter-rounds. So, when the cabinets are replaced, they can also put the new quarter round in. They're going to have to take it out to do the cabinets. They were very professional, very nice and worked really hard. I couldn't have been more pleased with the installation team.
I'd tell others to consider Empire. I'd tell them to go with them if they're comparable to other companies in terms of price and product. I couldn't have been more pleased with the installation process. You want that to go smoothly. They did a beautiful job, too. I've seen all the commercials on TV, and they're kind of cheesy. But they lived up to their hype on their commercials, which doesn't happen often. As far as the new flooring, I like that my dog can't destroy it. I have a 10-month-old puppy. I had linoleum that was down that I replaced, and she was ripping up the linoleum. She cannot destroy this floor. It's beautiful. It's easy to clean.

I guess they were trying to call me to do it instead of the email. But because of my work schedule, it was complicated. And then when we got it fixed, the installers needed a confirmation that I paid. I was never called to give them a confirmation number. I was never given a confirmation number. We were happy with Empire Today's offer. We liked the speed with which they could get the carpet in, and we also liked the style and color scheme. The rep was great. He was very clear and he had a good personality. We had Berber Shag carpeting installed in the basement. When the guys arrived, we all concluded with the snowy weather that it would be best for them to work in our garage. So, I moved to my car and they helped me prep the floor of our garage for trimming the carpet, and then they got to work. They did the stairs and one room. They were efficient, clear and cleaned up everything when they were done. Their work seems good, so far. There are no lumps, weird spots or soft patches.

There was an ad for 70% off of flooring. So, I initiated the call to Empire. I didn't buy the 70% off carpet because the salesman said that there was something else available, several other things that would be about $100 and $150 more. I went with one of the other ones that he showed me, and it's fine. It looks good. The installers were good. The gentlemen who came to my house had to go out to his car about four different times to get me different samples. He showed me the ones that were 70% off and some of the other ones that he had available that would be in the price range but a little bit more after discounts.
I had a little difficulty with the installation experience because I know the date that I gave the gentleman to schedule it for, and then I got an email telling me they were coming the next day, which was fine but I have a part-time employment right now. I need to leave the house at 4:00 o'clock. So, I called, and they said the first one starts at 8:00 to 10:00, and then 12:00 to 2:00, but I was on tap for the morning. It should be fine, although I would hear from the installers. I didn't hear from the installers, and it got to be just before noon, and I called. They said they'd be there between noon and 2:00. I called back again, and I didn't get a response. About 1:30, the installers called me and told me they would be here in about 25 minutes, which they were, and they did get it done. They were out by about 10 to 4:00.
It was only one room. It wasn't a lot but I spent virtually all day, and then had to be concerned. The installers told me if they would have known, they would have put me on their schedule for first thing. I told that to the gentleman who came to the house. I told that to the person on the phone. And the person on the phone, in the scheduling process, told me that I was scheduled for first thing in the morning. So, I was at my house all day. I was afraid to leave. That was a little too over-the-top for me.
The other thing is I had just contracted with a roofer and he put me through Wells Fargo, and Wells Fargo did not approve me for the full amount. So, I had to go and then get credit from another company. When the salesman from Empire came in, I told him, “I think I should qualify for your credit. But if this already hit, I wouldn't qualify.” He even asked me, “Was one of them Wells Fargo?” I said, “Yes.” He said, “Do you wanna go through us?” I said, “Well, yeah, I'd like it.” It was a very good deal for financing. There will be no interest to pay in 12 months. So, I said, “Yeah, I’d really like that.” Lo and behold, he put me through Wells Fargo. So, it's a mark on my credit for running it through Wells Fargo, and then being declined.
So, I pulled out one of my credit cards, and I had to put down 50%. I can pay it off and I'm not worried about the interest. It’ll take me two or three months to pay it off but it's worth it. I have the carpet. I'm happy with it. I'm happy with the job that the installers did. It's just that that really kind of ticked me off. I was ready to say, “Okay, forget it.” But now, since I’m this far through the process, you get to the point where you don't wanna shop around anymore. I would recommend Empire with stipulations like, “Watch out for this. Watch out for that.” I would say, “Yes. I would recommend that you at least have them come in and give you an estimate and stuff like that. But be leery, one, of the financing. Because not everybody is approved.” Even though my credit score was in the high sixes in one, and over 700 with the other, I didn't qualify because it was Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo had just given me $10,000 a couple of days before for my roof.

We have used Empire in the past. They installed some carpet for us up in Minnesota a number of years ago. For the wood flooring in this house, I had been looking around to try and find a narrow plank floor to match the one existing wood floor in here. My mom had done the same thing in her house, and Empire did a really great job for her when she was putting that type of flooring into the master bedroom to try and match the stuff that was already existing. So, that was really the reason that we chose Empire the first time.
Unfortunately, our first experience was awful. So, I swore I would never go with them again because of it. Although, we do have lovely floors for the first two rooms that were installed. When a big renovation project came around, what we decided to do was to go ahead and try and match the floor for the kitchen and dining room to the other two rooms that they would install. So, I looked around, and I was really having trouble finding the Armstrong product. Finally, my husband said, "Listen, this isn't going to happen again. Let's just call Empire."
When we called, their salespeople were wonderful. So, I have absolutely no complaint with them. We had difficulties again when it came time for the installation. There was some miscommunication about the actual product itself. We thought that it was a similar Armstrong product. When we had talked with the salesperson, he said that there are changes that are made. Sometimes, it's just the color name, other times, it's products. We really thought that we were going to get the same product. When it showed up, the installer said, "This is not the same product" and showed us all the differences. She immediately said. "You have an Armstrong product on your floor. This is not." We did not prompt her.
We contacted our sales rep, Dave, who was wonderful. He checked to see if there was any stock left of this because what he found out was that the Armstrong product had just been discontinued, so we can't get it anymore. So, that fast forwards us to the install of what's currently sitting down here that the inspector came for on February 4th. We're in trouble with this floor too. He counted at least 100 defects between the two rooms. I have no idea what's going to go on. Empire was to follow up with this week to see how to move this process forward.
The salespeople are responsive and they have all sorts of suggestions for you. The problem that we're having and that we've had on two occasions is not with the sales' end but it's with everything else. The first time, it was install problems, and we had install issues in Minnesota too. They've ruined a lot of the baseboards when these guys were installing the carpet. I didn't have time to replace big sections because it was real Cherry. So, I, myself, went out and found somebody who does wood restoration in old homes up in that area. I hired him to just do it before we put the house on the market. We did it in our cost because we didn't have time to futz around with the system.
The same thing kind of happened again with this wood floor install. The whole corporate structure in Illinois, two years ago, it seemed to fall apart. We complained on a number of occasions. I hate being like that, but in order to get any action on the floor, we ended up with a completely different product. We went through and talk to one of the reps who handles customer service, and then, I wouldn't hear from anybody for weeks on end. I finally posted a pretty scathing review to the Better Business Bureau. When even that didn't help, we ended up filing a motion with the Illinois AG. I don't know if that was coincidental, but that kicked a couple of things into motion, whereby inspectors came out, and then it was decided that there were both install issues mainly, and product issues too.
There were product issues with the floor, which is why Empire finally said, "Pick a different wood floor." We went with the newest one that was a wider plank version of the narrow plank that didn't match the dining room. As we were getting to this particular install, what we're finding is that the salesforce is really good. They definitely intervened. The inspector who came out was wonderful. But it's maddening that you don't hear anything after that. My kitchen has been torn up now. I have metal racks in here holding garbage all over since December 26th or 27th. Empire is not good on follow-up. I could never recommend them for that reason. It doesn't make any difference if their salespeople are good if both the install process and the product aren't living up to expectations. I feel bad because we were so excited to try and get this started again with Empire. And then it was like, "Oh my God, and now you have sidelined us yet again."
Ellen, thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We've located your order and will be in touch with you soon to discuss your experience.

Their rep that came out to inspect it said that it is a defect that happens at the factory when the machine gets out of alignment. He submitted my claim and today I was told that it was denied. It is now Feb 2, 2021 still no materials.
There were several flaws in the workmanship, the trim around my built-in desk was cut incorrectly (you can see the sub-floor), nail holes and cracks in the base board were not filled in. I had to purchase materials for them to complete certain jobs, workers never wore mask in my home, left windows open when they left for the day. This list goes on and on. I have had to reschedule my move because the work is not completed. I submitted pictures to the sales agent with a detailed list requesting the job be completed ASAP by more experienced, mature individuals. The response I received was "they will contact you" My questions are "Who is THEY?" and "When?" My biggest disappointment with Empire Today is: I should have been give the option to cancel the job and offered a refund if the company could not deliver on their promise.

I had Empire Today install vinyl in three bathrooms and one laundry room. It’s waterproof and it’s beautiful. We had the installation done in two different days and there were two different installers, even though we asked for the same ones. We asked the installer and he said he would try. But the gentlemen that came in for the second day worked all by himself and he did a good job. Empire was very easy to work with and we were very pleased with the final product.

We've used Empire Today in the past, and we were happy with them, so I thought I would try them again. I had carpet installed for bedrooms, a sunroom as well as the stairs and hallway. When we set up the installation with the sales rep, we had an issue where we had a date that our carpet was supposed to be installed on. We had had all our beds apart, but there was some kind of change. I was never notified that they were not coming to install, but then we were rescheduled quickly. Apart from that, the installers were very professional and got the job done in a timely manner.

They were really responsive. We called Empire for an appointment and the sales reps were able to come out that day. We had carpet installed and we were concerned because there was old floor tile. Some of it had been removed, but part of it was not. It was old floor tile that might have been asbestos-containing and around the perimeter where they would tack, a lot of it had been removed so there’s concrete underneath. The rep said it would be fine but as soon as the installers came out, they walked right in and they stopped short. They refused to do anything and left without any explanation or opportunity to say what needed to be done.
I could have created a solution in 10 minutes. The amount of work that needed to be done took approximately 10 minutes. I showed frustration and they refused to really talk to me about it and left. We went back into the queue for the installation and it took an additional three or four weeks before they could come back out. When they did, they did not show us the carpet and confirm if it is what we want. They just put it down pretty quick, which was good. I’m glad it didn’t take long. But they didn't tell me the specifications and the quality. I don’t know if we got what we paid for or if they just brought in a cheaper grade. Also, when I was trying to reach out to them, a lot of their numbers would just put me into a loop. It took a long time to finally find a person to talk to.

Please seek other flooring companies. I had hardwood floors install a few months ago in 5 rooms, and there are gaping holes and poke marks everywhere. When the company visits, they can't believe that the job was done less than four months ago. The wood is cut uneven throughout the home, with hollow areas that expose underlying spaces.
However, a company inspector came and noticed the terrible install and stated a renovation is needed. When I initially had the work done, there was no furniture in the home. Now there is furniture that needs to be moved, which I can't do. To summarize the inconvenience and frustration, I have called and spoke with over six reps, and over twenty calls and new tickets service request each call and still don't have a firm or set a date for the project. This is causing frustration and a major upset in my home. As well I ordered furniture a few months ago which now has to be stored elsewhere. And the customer service numbers and reps extensions are useless.

I have been dealing with Empire Today for many years and was always very satisfied with them, even recommending them to friends. I had a bedroom carpet installed on 9/28/2019. Last week I noticed it was buckling and was very noticeable because it was right there after walking into the bedroom. The carpet hardly has any traffic on it as it is the master bedroom and we are senior citizens. I called up Empire to see if it was warranted and if they could fix it. I received a call back from them stating it would cost $140 to have someone come and fix it as the warranty was for a year. I am very disappointed that this happened after only a year and feel that the carpet should not have buckled in that short of time.

We had carpet installed in our living room, our hallway and our master bedroom. The installers were great. They were both Hispanic, and one didn't speak very good English, but the other one did. They were polite, clean and very professional. They were very quick. We had part of the furniture moved and they didn't do any damage. I couldn't have asked for better installers. The quality of the carpet is good. It always looks a little different when you put it down versus when you're seeing a sample. As far as the color, I like the color and I don't think I would go with anything different than what we did.
We had one little area that we were concerned about. We called and told them what our situation was. We took pictures. It was minor and it could have easily happened to anyone. It was in a doorway where the carpet didn't go far enough into the doorway where you could see the other carpet in the other bedrooms. They came out and had it done in 30 minutes. We didn't have to wait around for them to show up. As far as letting us know when they were coming, it was excellent. Always called before they came and gave us an estimate of the time when they would be here.

I had Empire Today install a laminate in the bedrooms and hardwood on the stairs. The stairs were a little high but I’m not used to hardwood floors so I don’t know if they look right or not. I thought it would be one big board for the step but it's four small boards. I'm concerned of how that would hold up and that there's more potential for cracks with those. But I love the bedrooms in laminate. Dealing with the installers was great. I met them when they first came out and there was something wrong with the color that was picked out. So, they came back the very next day once we cleared it off. They were good as well as the ones that did my bedrooms.

Updated on 01/29/2021: I have never offered an online review for anything. Never cared enough or was surprised enough by people doing a bad job to bother. They never responded to any emails or my review at all. Stay away.
Original review: I really feel like they owe me a couple of stars. I ordered new flooring. Supposed to be installed 12/23/20, the installation crew did not have the proper materials. Reschedule to 1/5/21 and I had to call two hours after they were supposed to show up to find out they weren't coming. Reschedule to 1/8 and they cancel as they don't have stock. Reschedule to 1/12 and they show up with the wrong stock again. When I called service to complain, I was met with indifferent obstruction, seems to be a core values of their call center. It was even intimated that the delays weren't their fault, like I went bonkers and loaded the trucks with incorrect product at the warehouse. Bad service is a risk everywhere. It's a guarantee if you call Empire.

Empire Today came three separate times. The carpeting and the laminate flooring were great. The first two teams were phenomenal. My son was here for the first installation and he said they did a great job installing it, cleaning up after themselves and taking everything away. The same goes with the second one. It one was an all-day job. They were here almost 10 hours doing the whole second floor laminate flooring. They made sure they cleaned up after themselves.
The second job was kind of a combination, the laminate flooring then we had finished the carpeting on the attic stairs that did not get finished the first time. The team that came out to do that was a little frustrating. We were told that they were going to come towards the end of the day but they ended up showing up after 5:30. Within 20 minutes of showing up here, they ended up saying they had to come back another day to finish the job. It was too cold and we had to reschedule with them which was frustrating 'cause then we had to find another day to have them come back.
The only thing that I do not like about Empire is the way they schedule. The first time, we were told by the salesman that they would come within a four-hour time frame. We got a call the day before saying that, "We do not know when they'll be out and you have to block off the whole day from 8:00 to 5:00. You'll know in the morning more about when they'll come within that time frame." That happened both times. The second time, it was a confusion because the salesperson that called us did not know that it was going to be an all-day job and kind of got me confused because they said they weren't going to come 'til the afternoon. But they were supposed to come first thing in the morning because it was going to take them all day to do it. That was the lady calling me not knowing what kind of job it was. That part of it is frustrating too. But the quality of work itself and the product itself are great. I'm very happy with that.

We love the carpet that we purchased from Empire Today. We happened to see their advertisement at the time when we were going around trying to decide what we really wanted to do, because we were thinking along the lines of hardwood flooring in the area that we ended up putting the carpet. We called them and we finally decided to put down all carpet based upon the individual that came here and did some recommendations. He was fine and very helpful. He gave us three levels of carpeting and different colors. I also liked the fact that we had a certain amount of options, not an overwhelming amount of options. We got 16 different manufacturers and we could take a look at all of them. The installer was great and very helpful as well. I had a number of squeaks on the floor and I wanted to be able to tighten them up before the carpet went down. The installer helped me with doing that and he didn't have to, but he did. When the sales rep from Empire Today, Robert, came out here, he was very respectful and knowledgeable. He listened well. Based off of what we said, he brought in specific samples instead of just bringing in a bunch of samples to overwhelm somebody. He narrowed it down to a couple of different books on each product. The other part of the deciding factor was that he made it sound so easy. It was like a one-stop shop where there were things that needed to be done. We didn't have to get someone that only did carpet then get someone else come in and do the floor. We had things such as the toilet that needed to be moved and we didn't have to get a plumber to move them. He made it sound easy.
The installation team was thorough in that they wanted us to check right away to make sure that the products that we had ordered were the same things like the colors. The challenging part of the interaction was that one of them spoke nothing but Spanish and the one that I was talking to spoke some English but mostly Spanish. I can speak some but I don't speak a lot. Thank goodness that I understood him enough to be able to communicate with him.
When you have that language barrier, they don't always understand exactly what happened in the initial sale with a representative. There was a point where Robert said that if my husband disconnected all of the plumbing, that they can move the sink and cabinet out and move the washer and dryer. I don't think that that gentleman understood that that was a promise. What he said to me in Spanish was that sales people make promises but that those promises they make are not always accurate. It was a little frustrating at first and he didn't want to help move that cabinet so my husband did take it out. He told me, “We're not supposed to move cabinets.” The cabinet wasn't even big. It was for a small slop sink. When I called Robert, he called his supervisor and said, “When they get ready to reinstall that cabinet, I want him to help Mr. ** with it,” and he did do it. The communication between the salesperson and the supervisor for the team that comes out is key.
The other problem we had was I had given Robert half of the money down to order and set the appointment. He told me then the other half will be expected when they arrived, and I said okay. When they arrived, I gave the guy my credit card. He called whatever number they call to get the cards approved and he said that he couldn't get it approved because it was busy. He wanted a check so I started to write a check. Then he told me in Spanish that he couldn't take a personal check, that he wanted a cashier's check from the bank. I told him I was not going to leave the house and go to the bank to get the rest of the money. I said, “This is the same card that I gave Robert. There's not a problem with the card." He was kind of delayed in that he was trying to get it approved before they would work. But he finally sent the other guy upstairs to start working.
He was on the phone for about 30 minutes and he couldn’t get it approved. If the credit card place is busy, then they need to give him another option that he can use so that he's not the one feeling paralyzed by the situation. He said it was so busy and that he was going to stay on the phone, but that he would start working. He was telling me that his supervisor said he couldn't take a personal check and I told him that wasn't true because Robert was going to take a personal check from me. He said that the credit card is a little bit quicker in getting it approved that was why I used the credit card. But it finally did get approved. The crew themselves were really good as far as getting the job done. One started working on the bathroom and the other one started installing the carpet on the stairway. Then they both finished the laundry room together and cleaned up after themselves. They were very hard workers and respectful. They did a great job.
The only thing that would be good to tell the installers is that when they're laying stuff that they're taking, like when they're pulling floors up and they have their tools, instead of laying their tools on the flooring or on the carpeting, would be to have something that they lay down and put that stuff on so that there's not the possibility of scratching or tearing a floor.

Aside from that, there is an issue on the installation of the wood floor. It split apart and it shouldn't have. I called them about the issues that we were having with two of our rooms and I haven't heard back from anybody yet. Somebody called me at one point, then I called them back and that was it. We had another company that came and gave us some testament, but we went with Empire because they had more choices than the other one. We ended up getting the vinyl plank and the laminate floor, and we're pretty happy about the quality. The installers did two bathrooms for us and they had to come back another day to finish the job. We were expecting them to come between 10:00 and 11:00 in the morning for the second appointment, just like they did the first time, but noon and afternoon came, and we didn't hear anything from them. We gave Empire a call and asked what was going on because my husband took a day off from work waiting for them. They said they were surprised that we haven't heard anything from the installers and another half-hour later, the installers called and said that they were at another job and they wouldn't be over until about 6:00 P.M.
Then, they didn't come until about 7:00 because they were coming from another town, which is about 45 to an hour away. And they didn't finish until almost 11:00 P.M. They came right when we were eating dinner, then they were working until past bedtime. That was irritating for us, but we wanted to get it done because we didn't want to waste another day. They asked if they could reschedule because it was too late and we said no because we already took that time off all day and we were not going to take another time off just for them to install the products. The communication on their part could have been improved and if they would have told us the day before or that morning that they had another place that they needed to go to, then we could have planned our day better. But they did a good job.

We waited a month to get someone here. The installation manager came out to look at work, he was rude and made excuses for poor quality work. When I pushed for a response to my questions about quality and if he would accept job he said no. We heard from district manager who blamed us for mopping the floor and this caused tiles to peel. So I guess we can never mop floors? Also that we intentionally picked at it.
They blamed us for walking on it too early, but their entire crew marched out on same floor carrying tools and supplies immediately after finishing job. They want to charge me 425 dollars to repair my floor but want to charge me almost 400 dollars to have me buy material to fix it myself. I've seen their reviews on BBB and notice that when they do a good install, it's great but when they make a mistake, they refuse to do the right thing for those customers. I highly urge customers not to be swayed by their low prices as you are getting what you pay for and goodness forbid something goes wrong. Our floors where install in October, noticed issues right away so I contacted them the very next day. It’s not the end of December and in the last two days I have had two different visit. Both nothing was done but I did have to take off work. They had an Empire inspector at my home and wrote up a report saying it was multiple install and manufacture issues but they still are giving me the runaround. 7 times they sent installers out and each time they came unprepared to do the repairs saying they will have to come another time with more material. It’s been horrible.

Empire Today had the quick and easy solution to getting into my place and getting it done fast. The installation went really well. Two guys came and they did it fast and good. They did carpeting for 2 bedrooms and family room and I like that the flooring is not concrete anymore. I thought they were gonna vacuum the floor because we'd started to and they said they'd take care of it but they didn't. We only heard the vacuum down there for a couple of minutes so I know they didn't get all the stuff vacuumed up. But Empire Today is great. My nephew used them too and my daughter is going to be doing their basement and they'll probably call them for flooring.

I love my rugs and I'm planning to get more installed coming January, February. However, they did my hallway and my stairs then the first floor but they didn't go inside the closet and I forgot to mention that to my sales rep. Once I set up the next appointment for the bedrooms, I hope they could fix that problem because they were supposed to go all the way into the linen closet.

It was a pretty big job because they had to take out an old rug that was down for about 40 years. Then, they put new plywood flooring down. It took a couple of days but they did it as fast as they can. One issue that I talked to someone about was that they cleaned their glue brush or something in the sink and left glue all over the sink, which I had a hard time cleaning. The other issue that came up recently is the strips that go between the doors and a couple of the nails are a little bit short so they're popping up. I had to bang them back down. Other than that, we had a good experience with Empire Today.

I saw Empire Today's commercials on TV on a very regular basis. I had heard good things about them and when I was looking for a relatively inexpensive solution as I was getting ready to sell my house, they were fairly inexpensive. So, I chose them. Buying from them was very easy and one of their fortes is they have stuff in stock. So, when I talked to the salesman on Thursday, he said they could install it as soon as Monday, which was great. That worked into my schedule, so we did that. I was pleased with the product, I got exactly what I expected, and the process went very smoothly.

He worked all day long to get it down, which didn't bother us a bit because he did such an outstanding job. Also, the flooring has exceeded my expectations. I slid the coffee table and scratched it. I got the sink scratching pad for the dishes, went over the scratch, and it went away. The woman from the office, Lisa, called me because she was trying to work with the sales guy, who was a third party, and the distributor, to make sure that they got the carpet in. They took care of the issue right away and they were here the very next week to install the correct carpet. Everything was great. The installation went quick, too. I had a carpeting installed in my living room and a vinyl planking put in my den and the flooring exceeded my expectations. I'd seen other brands, but I purchased from Empire a few years ago and I liked what I had gotten. I called Empire again. The only part of the business transaction that I didn't care for was the sales. The gentleman that came out was not business like. I was supposed to be getting discounts and he wasn't showing me that. He kept saying that the things that I was picking out weren’t eligible for the discounts that I had called about. On the other hand, the installation guys were fabulous. I had two different groups in here for installation. I had one for the carpeting and one for the planking. They explained anything that I wanted that wouldn't work and they went out of their way to show me why as well as to give me what I wanted. Everything that I needed, they provided. They cleaned up after themselves as well. Everything was great.
They removed a slate floor and put down the planking in my den, and it's fabulous. The slate that I had in there was true slate and it was cold all the time. It was dark colors. Now, I have this planking with lighter colors in there and it's great. It brightened up the room and it's not cold like the other one was. The gentlemen that came for the installation for the carpeting were no hesitation too. He asked me, “Was this the right carpeting?” “Is this the right room?” He also asked if there was something special I needed. Overall, I was thoroughly satisfied the first time I dealt with Empire Today and I'm just as satisfied now that I’ve called them again.

I was researching new flooring and Empire Today continuously came up, so I decided to schedule a "free in-home estimate." The fact that they are the "1-day install people" never occurred to me. I was simply beginning my research so I started with an expert. When the salesman arrived, he was very nice and we both wore masks. I appreciate their COVID safety procedures. Very early on, I explained that I was not making a decision that day. I also went so far as to tell him I was not in a hurry, that it was literally my first stop for information, and I'm not even considering new flooring until January.
He could have left at that moment if he wanted, but he didn't. So he measured and we discussed general budget. I, again, explained I had zero idea of the cost of new flooring, which is why I had called them. He asked me about a range between $12,000 - $25,000 - I told him the less expensive route is my preference. I was also floored (no pun intended) at the cost. I didn't have a baseline, but I knew this was likely twice as much as industry standard. After measuring and selecting a couple of samples, he did some calculations, never shared my square footage, a breakdown - nothing. He just said it would be $11,738. He also said it was the "last day" of their 50% off sale.
Now, I know from being a TV watcher that Empire Today has a 50% off sale every week. So having my common sense insulted like that was mildly annoying. He also repeatedly told me he wasn't using sales tactics, which is code for "Hey - these are sales tactics." These tactics included - "last day of the sale," "we will pay the sales tax," and generally trying to convince me to spend $12,000 after a 45 minute conversation and ZERO research or price comparison.
I, again, explained I was not spending $12,000 today. I said I wasn't in a hurry and this was the first step of my research. He continued to push. He again offered financing, which I refused. "But it's free money..." he kept saying to me. I don't appreciate a salesman trying to tell me how to manage my finances either. It wasn't until my MALE partner arrived at my house and was very clear that we WERE NOT making a decision today - even after his "manager" reduced it down again to somewhere around $10,000, that he finally gave up and asked me to commit to calling him that night with an answer.
Upon researching other options, I found I was correct. They were about 45-55% higher than other companies for similar service (I can move my own furniture to save $6 grand). I understand these folks have to make a living and this is their job. I never intended to waste anyone's time, which is why I was transparent with my intentions up front. I didn't appreciate the lack of information (again - where's a detailed price sheet? What is my square footage you're flooring??) nor do I appreciate the overall energy and attitude of being put upon because I didn't agree to give him $10k on a whim.
It is ok to do your research. It is ok to say no and still be treated in the same manner. It is ok to not let yourself be pressured into making MAJOR INVESTMENTS into your home after a quick conversation. I recommend Empire starts to evolve their brand. The elderly population may be easily swayed with promises of lost savings, but I know for a fact, if I called him in 2 weeks and asked for the same exact price, I would get it. If not, I could simply request another Empire Today associate come out to give me a quote. We are not a population of people who are enticed by shady deals and "let me talk to my manager" offers. Follow the direction of the auto industry and treat your potential customers as grown adults who can make intelligent decisions over time.

We've had five different rooms done by Empire in this house so we had them come do the sunroom. When the salesperson came, he showed us a few things. We were looking for a particular kind and they don't make it anymore so he showed us something that was like it and we went with it. The installers were very nice people. They were very quiet and they cleaned up. But there are two pieces that looked like they're coming up to us. They're not flat like the rest of the floor. We wanted that fixed.
They were supposed to come here on a Monday and at 10:30 on Monday morning, they called and said they wouldn't be here. They could come on another day. I had taken that day off and moved all the furniture out of the room. They said they'd come on Wednesday. They came and there were 22 boards that were not right. The installer said it won't stay down because the floor is not level. They didn't do anything. The installer says that the only way that could be fixed is if the flooring is taken up, they level the floor out, and then put another flooring down. He talked to the boss on the telephone. He said the guy is going to call us. He didn't call that day and he still hasn't called this morning to tell us what he's going to do.
I'm so unhappy. The people that installed it and the man who sold it should know if it would work or not. We don't know that. That's why we hired a company that we thought was a good reliable company. I feel like I have no customer service from them at all. We've been treated really terrible as not good customers. It's almost Christmas and I've got the house torn apart completely because stuff can't be in that room if they're going to do the floor. I'm so disappointed in them that I could tell everyone I know to not ever use Empire. We used them and they were good but they're not good anymore.

I found a discount from another store and there was a $300 savings. But Empire Today did better than that, so that was good. I made an appointment online on the weekend, had an appointment for the next week, and they installed the carpet one week later. We did the installation in one room and then two half stairways. We have a split level and the stairway had carpeting on them, but it was kind of an old oriental style. It wasn’t fully carpeted on the stairs, so I wasn’t imagining anything different.
When the guy came to install the carpet, he asked if I wanted that the carpet didn’t cover the whole thing. He said they would have had to have bound the carpet in order to do that. He also said that they would have to take the carpet back to the factory and they’d have to cut it and bind it in order to bring it and do it on another day. I told him to do whatever was the easiest. The fully carpeted was the easiest one, and it looks a lot better than how it’s been the way it was before, and bound the way I imagined it being. So that turned out better. But it was not something that he addressed or asked me, or even talked to me about when I said I needed these carpeted. If he asked me, then the decision could have been made beforehand.
I picked different carpets for the stairs and for the living room. But they were similar. The carpet that I chose for the stairs was better for more traffic. When the guy came to install it, he had me check the swatch. I said, “Yes.” But then a little while later, I told him, “There are two different carpets. You have the other one, right?” I showed him the pictures and he said, “Oh, yeah.” Then he went out to the truck and he started working. I asked him a little while later if he found the other carpet and he said, “Yes.” But I never checked it. They’re several feet away from each other, but if you look at them, they’re exactly the same, which is fine. The carpet that I ended up with was the more expensive of the two that I had chosen, and it looks great. It’s all uniform. So it all worked out.
The guys that came to install the carpet were wonderful. One of them was more bilingual than the other, so he did most of the conversing with me. There was still a little bit of misunderstanding but everyone worked out great. They were very efficient and professional. I would definitely use Empire Today again. I’m a first-time homeowner and it was my first time dealing with anything like this, but I would now know to ask more questions.

But other than that, the experience was fine. Everything was scheduled pretty quickly and the installation went fine. The finished product looks very nice. I'm very satisfied with it. My only fear now is that someone told me that it's probably not going to hold up to my pets. Everything went well. They did an excellent job. The only thing is that there was a noticeable jump in price between what the salesperson originally estimated for the job and what the final product was. But the installers who were there put me in contact with their supervisor and manager, and we were able to negotiate what I thought was a reasonable price between the two. But the initial salesperson who was identifying what needed to be done and quoting a price should have caught some of the major increases in expense.

From the initial intake, flooring selection, delivery and installation, your team has been top-notch and professional. And you always got my highest recommendation to family and friends. In the customer service world, that's considered a trifecta! Then I had a bad experience! The wrong grade of carpet was installed at my new home and I was having difficulty getting someone to hear my concerns.
My frustration was about to spill over until I received my first call from DeVaughn. He was empathetic. He asked all the right questions. He accepted responsibility for an action plan that we built together. I felt like this "bad experience" was moving towards an amicable solution. With all the initial sorting done, DeVaughn shared that he was transferring the case to his top representative to work through the details. Reluctantly, I annotated the contact information. I didn't know what to expect but my fear turned to absolute admiration in very short order. Rhonda was just amazing to work with as we finished the case. She was resourceful. She was polite and approachable. When she said that she was going to do something, it got done with a priority that made you feel like you were the only customer in her caseload. Who doesn't like that? Your own personal advocate! I felt like a valued customer again!
My two major issues have been resolved. Even with the slow start, Empire Today has re-earned my business. It would not have been possible without DeVaughn and Rhonda. Their actions were genuine and sincere which leads me to believe this is the standard of service they give consistently. Recognize and reward them immediately! Good employees are hard to find. Absolutely the worst experience we have had while remodeling our home. We selected Empire today because of the 50/50/50 price. 50% off. The sales rep came to our home, Kale **, and smooth-talked us. We wanted a kitchen, a laundry room done in tile, and our entry room in laminate. None of the rooms are large. He initially had an estimate of $12,000. Wow. When I mentioned the 50% he made the "call to his sales supervisor and magically $6700 appeared. Still very high for 50% off. We were told a 1 day install for the kitchen and laundry room tile with possible 48 hrs before it could be used. Our washer, dryer, refrigerator, and stove were on the front deck before they arrived. We had to put our dog with a kennel and had planned for 2.5 days. The first day they removed the old flooring and prepped the floor and that's it. The second day they installed a quarter of the tile, laundry room, and maybe 2 feet of the kitchen.
I asked the lead what time to expect them on the 3rd day. He said about the same time 8 am-9 am. At 9 He called and said there was a hold up for materials which I found out was cheap molding for the edges. I said we would be installing wood molding and to tell his dispatcher that and to come on. 1 hour later no word so I called the salesman, Kale **, and was told he would check. He called me back and said it would be about an hour. Great. Understand this is the 3rd day of a 1-day job.
After about an hour and a half with no show, I called the installer back and asked for an arrival time. He told me they had sent him out on another job and he wouldn't be back until the next day. If I had not called we would have been waiting the whole day for a no-show. No one even tried to call us to say they wouldn't be back. I have no doubt they overbooked and put us on the hind burner because our job was partially done. OUTRAGEOUS! We called the kennel and luckily were able to leave our dog there.
Now on the 4th day of a 1-day job they came out and finished laying the tile and said they would be back the next day to grout. That evening we started looking at the job and it was terrible! Some tiles were up to 1/8" higher than the others around them. There were many of those. The spaces between the tiles, some were wide and some were closed with tiles touching. Other tiles were crooked. Then most of the tiles didn't line up. We even had 1 tile they cut and put in opposite to the pattern of the rest of the tiles. I called and told our sales rep what a terrible job it was and wanted them to come and remove all of the tiles and leave! I asked him to come to look at the terrible job. He called the "installer manager" and called me back and said we had to let them grout it and finish the job in order for the installation warranty to be any good. I was furious and told him and his installer manager to come out and look.
Of course, the manager wouldn't but Kale said he would be here around 6 pm. We had been stuck at home for this long so we had to go to the store. We came home to a message that he had shown up over an hour early. The next day the installers showed up to grout. My wife and I had our lives up in the air for 4 days now on a 1-day job. I told her we should try to accept everything except the crooked tiles and the one that went against the pattern or our world would be in an uproar for another week. This was in the middle of the pandemic so there was 1 restaurant for takeout open. On the fifth day, they showed up and did the grout, and fixed 3 things. There are still so many tiles that are higher than others and the tiles are misaligned. The grout job was so messy we tried to clean it up but by then the grout was set. No one from Empire Today cared about the terrible job we had.
Sunday I sent 90 MB of photos, around 20 to 30, to their customer service clearly showing some of the misaligned tiles, some of the higher tiles and the terrible grout job, and the terrible finish on the edges. It is Tuesday night with NO replies. By the way, I told them to not come out and do the front room laminate. On the 6th day of our 1-day job, we were able to put our home back together. Our kennel bill at $30 a day was $180 with a totally upset husky.
I cannot tell you how upsetting, unprofessional and amateurish this whole experience was. We checked online about tile jobs and what was acceptable. It said some uneven tiles were to be expected except in rooms where water is present. Well, guess what a kitchen and laundry room have water! Between the tv room and the kitchen, there was a nice gold-colored metal carpet edge and now the carpet has been bunched up and stapled to the floor. I wish I could put the photos here that I sent to Empire customer service so you could see why we are so upset and dissatisfied. Unbelievably dissatisfied and very upset!
Michael, we regret to hear that your sales experience was not what you expected. We'll be in touch with you shortly to make things right.

I considered Lowe's as well but Empire came out first. Their rep took a lot more time than Lowe's did when they came out. I had carpet installed in two bedrooms and I'm happy with my carpet. I had a very good interaction with the installation crew and that was the best part of it. They cleaned up after themselves.

We had carpet installed on the bedrooms on the second floor of our house. The convenience of Empire drew us to check them out. The only downside was that the guy who came out to measure and give us the estimate didn't put in the installation request that people would have to help move furniture. When the installers arrived, they weren't prepared for that. I had moved a lot of the furniture, so they only had to help out with a few small pieces. But it took some extra time before they could start the actual job because they had to finish helping move stuff. That was the only hiccup. Otherwise, they were polite and professional. They got to work and they worked hard.

I bought a house that had fallen out of escrow that had preexisting tile and carpet in it. I knew I didn't want it. I called Empire and made an appointment. The rep, Karen, came out and she was very sweet and nice. She had all the samples available and took a lot of time explaining the product. The installation itself was excellent. I had the tile and carpeting removed and a vinyl floor put in. The vinyl looks beautiful in the home.

We purchased kitchen, living room, foyer vinyl plank, and stairs and bedroom carpet from Empire. Due to searching for a small leak, we had to remove a small section of the vinyl plank. There is nothing wrong with the subfloor. I called Empire to purchase the replacement vinyl planks. They refused to sell the product. They wanted pictures, which were sent. Then they wanted $150 to inspect the floor. Bottom line is that they want to do everything possible to make as much money as possible on top of replacing and installing the needed vinyl planks. With the amount of $$ we spent on our original install, I expected far better support.
Michelle, we take your concerns seriously and apologize for your experience. We'll be in touch with you soon to learn more.

There’s an app that recommends different groups for different work and I used Empire Today. I was doing a remodel on my bathroom and I had half of the bathroom taken out. I had to have the tile removed that was on half of the flooring and then I had the whole floor retiled. I had waterproof flooring installed, which is a white with the gray lines. A few years ago, I had them put in carpet and they changed the carpet on me. It lasted two years. I was unhappy but they didn't do anything about it, so I was leery at first. Still, I decided I'd go ahead and try it this time and it was good.
Empire Today also did my bedroom several months ago. The first time, I liked the stuff that they brought out and I had it done. When they came out with the tile, I had it matched to the stuff that they put up to the shower and it blended with that. I thought the price was good and the product seems to be put well. The bedroom floor seems to be holding up good as well (no scratches or anything), and the bathroom floor is not slippery. It’s very nice.

We had a rug installed in our home's family room and I like the color. We've used Empire four times prior to this and when we called for a quote, everything was right there so there was no need to look for anything else. From start to finish, right from speaking to somebody on the phone to the sales rep coming to the house with the swatches, the installers and the follow-up phone calls and emails, everybody was very professional and courteous.

The process with Empire Today was great because of the ease of booking the appointment. Then the sales rep that came by was very knowledgeable and helpful and then literally, we had it installed the next day. The quality of their work was great. It was just what I expected. It's up in my daughter's room. My husband's office was done as well. And he's really happy with it. The sales rep had his mask on when he came to the door, and we told him that he didn’t need to wear it when he was in the house. He took off his shoes when he came in. The installer came in with his mask on, and he was up there working, and we were not even around. So they took whatever precautions I would have expected annd I was happy about that.

I had carpet installed on the stairs, upstairs in the hallway, and in the two bedrooms in my home. For a mid-level carpet, it feels very nice. When you have to make a decision about how much you can spend and the plushness you're gonna get, this is a good feel. It’s very plush, a little luxurious, and I like that. I initially thought that it was a little expensive with Empire and I cancelled the installation. I also did some cross comparison and I couldn't tell if the quality matched up. It's hard to tell when you're comparing because they don't always use the same language, but I got to talk to an Empire person. They called to check on me to see what they could do to get my business back and they brought their price down a bit more with everything.
They crossed the threshold for me, where the quality seemed a notch above what I was comparing with, and the price point was better. It was comparable and competitive. The service reps that I worked with were absolutely fantastic as well. I had one of the best sales reps I've ever had on the phone. He walked me through the website. He answered my questions. He translated for me. It felt transparent, and you don't always get that in sales. I very much appreciated the service that I received by the online sales rep. He was amazing. Empire also exceeded my expectations in terms of how quickly the workers worked.
In the current environment where we’re all here (many people are working at home, myself included, and I have children here. They're going to school.), the team that came in and did the install were great. They worked super hard and tried to be non-invasive. I appreciated their diligence and their focus on getting through the install. We made arrangements for the baseboards to be installed in the master bedroom, but that wasn't on their work order, so they didn't have the proper tools. The guy totally did the troubleshooting for me. They got another team to come that very next day and take care of the baseboard installation. That could have been much more difficult, but they solved the problem. They didn't even blink.
All in all, it was good except they did a bit of damage on my stair railing that I'm not certain even they noticed. The reason I noticed it is because I had just refinished all the railing before the carpet install because I didn't wanna have the hassle of being careful after the carpet install. I had to do repair work on a section of my railing and that was a bummer, but all things considered, it was a small thing. I was just wondering why the guy didn't point it out to me. Surely, he saw it. It's right here. It's loud and glaring, but maybe he didn't notice it. Overall, the staff was committed to excellence and paid attention to what was important to me.

Purchased & scheduled install of LVP for both of my bathrooms & a hallway. Salesman was very friendly & assured me that I would have a quality, speedy install. Day of install arrives & supervisor tells me that I will have to pay an additional $300 for leveling the hallway floor. The contract I have says that leveler is included. Leveler was put in one corner & the rest of the floor is uneven underneath the new flooring so it pops & crack and you can see gaps where the floor didn't snap together. There are also gaps in the other bathroom floor. The toilet was not reinstalled properly & rocks now. These are only a few of many issues.
When you combine that with the fact that I have been calling customer service for over a week & still have not gotten to talk to someone to resolve this issue I am convinced that I made a mistake choosing Empire for my flooring needs. I keep being told that someone will call me back but I am still waiting. My house has been disassembled for over 2 weeks now and I really need this resolved. Please don't think that they hesitated to charge my credit card though.

We scheduled the in home consultation for 11/12/2020. During the appointment, I asked Georgia if she was new because she seemed very confused and not able to operate the iPad very well. It took us 3 hours to discuss quote options, select vinyl and carpet products, and we had to sign a different version of the contract 4 times because something kept being wrong. At one point she said she had forgotten to add something to the pricing but when we pushed back it just disappeared somehow. Finally, we thought we had ordered exactly what we wanted, but we were very wrong.
The installers showed up on Saturday 11/14/2020 with the wrong material. We were upset because Jamie had called out of work on Friday to ensure he packed and moved everything as suggested in the pamphlet she gave us. Because it was the wrong material we tried to call Georgia. She only replied via text and let us know that we would have to wait until Tuesday 11/17/2020 to reschedule now. We agreed and asked her to send us a photo of the corrected material because we didn't want to have the same thing happen again. She never replied to that text or called.
On Thursday 11/19/2020 the install of vinyl was done but everyone was confused because they had a lot of excess materials. We contacted Georgia to ask how to schedule the carpet install now that the floor was done. She told us we only ordered vinyl. We told her that was not the case and asked how that was possible since she had a note we selected 'Astonish' pattern carpet. We asked to speak with a manager.
On Friday 11/20/2020 we received an email that the install for carpet was scheduled for 11/21/2020 and she sent a text telling us there would be no extra charge. We replied that we were concerned because vinyl is much more expensive so if anything there should be a refund on the amount we financed. She never provided the managers contact or had them call us and never addressed the refund.
At 6:20am on 11/21/2020 I was woken by a phone call to inform me the installer would be there in about an hour, but that it was only 1 single person and so they wouldn't be able to move the furniture (despite the pamphlet she gave us stating we only needed to move breakables and smaller items). So we rushed to get out of bed and start moving things.
I will say the one helpful person was Mary the installation team manager. She listened to my concerns and said she would pass it along to the sales manager. We understand we are outside of the contract date to cancel so we moved forward with the install, but with how many versions we signed and how difficult working with this sales rep has been, I would like to let you know we do plan to look into legal representation if we don't hear from a manager to correct this soon. We expect that we were overcharged close to $3,000 based on the pricing difference of vinyl and carpet. Although, they didn't ever provide me with an itemized bill, I just had to take Georgia's word on that.
Maggie, we sincerely apologize for your experience and are currently reviewing your concerns. Thank you for your update.

I am so disappointed and beyond frustrated. We placed our order for a carpet install new version 7 weeks ago. We could have had it installed the next week, but we are remodeling and I wanted to coordinate with construction, so we scheduled further out. Two days prior to our scheduled installation date, we received a phone call stating the carpet was out of stock and would not be IN stock for another week. Mind you, putting carpet in can take a lot of prep work, but we had not moved the big stuff yet so ok, no problem we can wait another week.
They were scheduled to come today between 8 and 4. I received a confirmation email 5 days ago and again yesterday. Knowing installers could be here 8am, we were up and disassembling beds and moving Everything, including clothing, out of the bedrooms to facilitate ease of install. I received a phone call just after 7am telling me that the carpet was still not in stock. I am a pretty understanding person and I know things could be affected by COVID or life happens, but waiting until less than an hour before notifying me of an out of stock product that comes from LA is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. When I shared this with person delivering the message, she said “I’ll make a note in your file.” I have reached out to the salesperson who has not yet returned my calls. I am happy to write a different review if and when we receive our carpet.

At first, I looked at Lumber Liquidators and a couple of other places. Adam from Empire Today came out to the house and he was very good. I had tile flooring in here, and we thought we could put the laminate right over it, but the gentleman said, “It’s not gonna lay right. We had purchased bamboo hardwood floors from the entryway through the kitchen and the family room but they no longer carry it or anything like it. That kind of messed up our plan so we went ahead and got a replacement of carpet for the dining room. I found out that Empire don’t have the floorings for a long period of time. The different carpets I’ve picked out were no longer carried. That was kind of frustrating. But the representative was really good to work with me to find something else. I usually don't have anyone come to my home to do anything unless I plan on spending money, but my husband was not a believer, so we didn't buy it at the time. My husband had to be convinced and then the young lady gladly came again.
One of the installers had me walk him through it and I showed him everything. He took me out and showed me the carpet in the truck so I could get a good look at it and saw the padding that would go under it. He let me know that for any questions to just go and ask him. He let me know how much I owed as well. We did all of that in the beginning. While he and I were doing the money transaction, his two accomplices were getting to work. He would tell them what to do and they were on it. My mother, my husband and I, all three of us, are very impressed with the quality of the carpet. We feel like we're walking on little pillows. Absolutely ridiculous at every step of the process. The salesman was nice and lead us to believe we were getting a good deal by taking a “middle of the road” (his words) product that they had in overstock. Turns out, we were sold utter junk carpet that is so thin you can feel the nails they use to tack it down THROUGH THE CARPET! When I called to ask what could be done, I was told by a very rude person that someone would come to tack the nails down by that’s it. Nothing for my inconvenience or to compensate for the fact that more strangers would need to be coming into my home during covid. I posted on Twitter about my experience and was told someone would reach out. No one did.
The “fix” was also horribly botched. No one gave me a time frame, they just said “Saturday”. I received a phone call at 7:30 a.m to tell me the technician would be there in 10 minutes. Again, 7:30 a.m on a Saturday. The technician then proceeded to do everything in his power to avoid fixing the problem, saying things like “well you don’t walk around the edges of a room” and “your old carpet was thicker”. So, basically, Empire sells a product so bad, you could injure yourself on it and it’s your fault for buying it. Oh, and about 20 minutes after they left, I got an automated phone call saying someone was on their way. After about 15 minutes on hold, that issue was solved. I’ve got two small children, one of whom has special needs. The last thing I need is more hazards in my home. So, stay as far away from Empire as you can because they will disappoint (and potentially injure) you at every turn.

I had carpet and stair runners installed by Empire previously that I was very satisfied with. So when I decided to remove the tile flooring in two rooms and replace with laminate flooring I decided to go back to Empire. After settling on a product and price, I was shocked when the installation team showed up a few weeks later and told me (after tearing all the existing flooring up) that it was going to be $400 more because they were gong to have to level the floor (which was level before the tile was torn up). I battled against this new charge but I was kind of stuck as my original floors were torn up and discarded.
We settled at each taking $200 of the new charge. 3 years later I started noticing the very place where the floor had to be "evened out". The planks were beginning to buckle!!! After having customer service schedule an appointment and confirming that the floor was buckling where it was supposedly repaired. Empire agreed to repair the floor although they would have to replace all of the flooring because the floor was discontinued. So after two more visits to choose replacement flooring and another month passing we were at installment day. Let me add I have to move a 150 gallon aquarium for the install to happen - not an easy task
The installers arrive and say, "If we install this you are going to have the same problem. The items they are selling will not work for this installation." He tells me the only thing that is gong to work is something called VPN. Long story short (this is covering a 6 month period from the time of my initial complaint til now). I was told that they would install the Correct flooring for this job for either an additional $2000 or $5000 depending on the product I select. I told them, "The lesser of the two but am feeling like I'm having to pay for another floor because the one you sold me originally with the additional fee to level the floor" (which is now unleveled). Feels like a scam. Not sure if I'm going to cancel.
