The salesperson was very friendly and very nice. I would have liked to have seen a few more samples, but that's fine. We had carpeting and laminate flooring done and there were two different teams for the installation. A man and a woman did the carpet and two men installed the laminate. They were great workers and they were wonderful. They cleaned up everything. The only issue that I had was with the two men that did the laminate. They didn't speak a lot of English. We communicated pretty well but when they were trying to explain something to me, I couldn't quite understand what they were saying. There was a little bit of a language barrier, but they did an excellent job. Both crews were very professional. Also, the carpet is not quite as plush as I would have liked but the laminate matches my floors perfectly.

I recently purchased my home in AZ. with intentions of having the work completed before we moved in from MI. I hired painter who were going to start before the flooring was installed. I was having problems with the first company with installation timing. I called Empire Today because of the company's reputation. The actual flooring product is a good product. The in home sales person told me that if I act now I could have the work completed in 4 days and receive a discount. On January 22, 2021 I paid half down and the other half was due when the workers arrived.

On January 25, 2021 the first day, 2 workers arrived 50 minutes late, only 1 could do heavy lifting, the other one had a leg injury, both were under 25. I was asked to pay the balance, then I was told that all of the material wasn't in, they didn't have the materials for the steps it would PROBABLY be in within a day or 2. I called the sales person who initiated the contract: she knew nothing about it. I refused to pay until the materials arrived, It was subtracted from the balance. It is now Feb 2, 2021 still no materials.

There were several flaws in the workmanship, the trim around my built-in desk was cut incorrectly (you can see the sub-floor), nail holes and cracks in the base board were not filled in. I had to purchase materials for them to complete certain jobs, workers never wore mask in my home, left windows open when they left for the day. This list goes on and on. I have had to reschedule my move because the work is not completed. I submitted pictures to the sales agent with a detailed list requesting the job be completed ASAP by more experienced, mature individuals. The response I received was "they will contact you" My questions are "Who is THEY?" and "When?" My biggest disappointment with Empire Today is: I should have been give the option to cancel the job and offered a refund if the company could not deliver on their promise.

I had Empire Today install vinyl in three bathrooms and one laundry room. It’s waterproof and it’s beautiful. We had the installation done in two different days and there were two different installers, even though we asked for the same ones. We asked the installer and he said he would try. But the gentlemen that came in for the second day worked all by himself and he did a good job. Empire was very easy to work with and we were very pleased with the final product.

We've used Empire Today in the past, and we were happy with them, so I thought I would try them again. I had carpet installed for bedrooms, a sunroom as well as the stairs and hallway. When we set up the installation with the sales rep, we had an issue where we had a date that our carpet was supposed to be installed on. We had had all our beds apart, but there was some kind of change. I was never notified that they were not coming to install, but then we were rescheduled quickly. Apart from that, the installers were very professional and got the job done in a timely manner.

They were really responsive. We called Empire for an appointment and the sales reps were able to come out that day. We had carpet installed and we were concerned because there was old floor tile. Some of it had been removed, but part of it was not. It was old floor tile that might have been asbestos-containing and around the perimeter where they would tack, a lot of it had been removed so there’s concrete underneath. The rep said it would be fine but as soon as the installers came out, they walked right in and they stopped short. They refused to do anything and left without any explanation or opportunity to say what needed to be done.

I could have created a solution in 10 minutes. The amount of work that needed to be done took approximately 10 minutes. I showed frustration and they refused to really talk to me about it and left. We went back into the queue for the installation and it took an additional three or four weeks before they could come back out. When they did, they did not show us the carpet and confirm if it is what we want. They just put it down pretty quick, which was good. I’m glad it didn’t take long. But they didn't tell me the specifications and the quality. I don’t know if we got what we paid for or if they just brought in a cheaper grade. Also, when I was trying to reach out to them, a lot of their numbers would just put me into a loop. It took a long time to finally find a person to talk to.

Please seek other flooring companies. I had hardwood floors install a few months ago in 5 rooms, and there are gaping holes and poke marks everywhere. When the company visits, they can't believe that the job was done less than four months ago. The wood is cut uneven throughout the home, with hollow areas that expose underlying spaces.

However, a company inspector came and noticed the terrible install and stated a renovation is needed. When I initially had the work done, there was no furniture in the home. Now there is furniture that needs to be moved, which I can't do. To summarize the inconvenience and frustration, I have called and spoke with over six reps, and over twenty calls and new tickets service request each call and still don't have a firm or set a date for the project. This is causing frustration and a major upset in my home. As well I ordered furniture a few months ago which now has to be stored elsewhere. And the customer service numbers and reps extensions are useless.

I have been dealing with Empire Today for many years and was always very satisfied with them, even recommending them to friends. I had a bedroom carpet installed on 9/28/2019. Last week I noticed it was buckling and was very noticeable because it was right there after walking into the bedroom. The carpet hardly has any traffic on it as it is the master bedroom and we are senior citizens. I called up Empire to see if it was warranted and if they could fix it. I received a call back from them stating it would cost $140 to have someone come and fix it as the warranty was for a year. I am very disappointed that this happened after only a year and feel that the carpet should not have buckled in that short of time.

We had carpet installed in our living room, our hallway and our master bedroom. The installers were great. They were both Hispanic, and one didn't speak very good English, but the other one did. They were polite, clean and very professional. They were very quick. We had part of the furniture moved and they didn't do any damage. I couldn't have asked for better installers. The quality of the carpet is good. It always looks a little different when you put it down versus when you're seeing a sample. As far as the color, I like the color and I don't think I would go with anything different than what we did.

We had one little area that we were concerned about. We called and told them what our situation was. We took pictures. It was minor and it could have easily happened to anyone. It was in a doorway where the carpet didn't go far enough into the doorway where you could see the other carpet in the other bedrooms. They came out and had it done in 30 minutes. We didn't have to wait around for them to show up. As far as letting us know when they were coming, it was excellent. Always called before they came and gave us an estimate of the time when they would be here.

I had Empire Today install a laminate in the bedrooms and hardwood on the stairs. The stairs were a little high but I’m not used to hardwood floors so I don’t know if they look right or not. I thought it would be one big board for the step but it's four small boards. I'm concerned of how that would hold up and that there's more potential for cracks with those. But I love the bedrooms in laminate. Dealing with the installers was great. I met them when they first came out and there was something wrong with the color that was picked out. So, they came back the very next day once we cleared it off. They were good as well as the ones that did my bedrooms.

They said when they had their van loaded earlier in the morning when they left Detroit that they were told everything was in. But they didn't double check and found out after they had all my other carpet ripped up that they didn't have my carpet. They left and got the carpet. Then, they came back and got it finished that day. The installers were good but it was still time out of my time.

Updated on 01/29/2021: I have never offered an online review for anything. Never cared enough or was surprised enough by people doing a bad job to bother. They never responded to any emails or my review at all. Stay away.

Original review: I really feel like they owe me a couple of stars. I ordered new flooring. Supposed to be installed 12/23/20, the installation crew did not have the proper materials. Reschedule to 1/5/21 and I had to call two hours after they were supposed to show up to find out they weren't coming. Reschedule to 1/8 and they cancel as they don't have stock. Reschedule to 1/12 and they show up with the wrong stock again. When I called service to complain, I was met with indifferent obstruction, seems to be a core values of their call center. It was even intimated that the delays weren't their fault, like I went bonkers and loaded the trucks with incorrect product at the warehouse. Bad service is a risk everywhere. It's a guarantee if you call Empire.

Empire Today came three separate times. The carpeting and the laminate flooring were great. The first two teams were phenomenal. My son was here for the first installation and he said they did a great job installing it, cleaning up after themselves and taking everything away. The same goes with the second one. It one was an all-day job. They were here almost 10 hours doing the whole second floor laminate flooring. They made sure they cleaned up after themselves.

The second job was kind of a combination, the laminate flooring then we had finished the carpeting on the attic stairs that did not get finished the first time. The team that came out to do that was a little frustrating. We were told that they were going to come towards the end of the day but they ended up showing up after 5:30. Within 20 minutes of showing up here, they ended up saying they had to come back another day to finish the job. It was too cold and we had to reschedule with them which was frustrating 'cause then we had to find another day to have them come back.

The only thing that I do not like about Empire is the way they schedule. The first time, we were told by the salesman that they would come within a four-hour time frame. We got a call the day before saying that, "We do not know when they'll be out and you have to block off the whole day from 8:00 to 5:00. You'll know in the morning more about when they'll come within that time frame." That happened both times. The second time, it was a confusion because the salesperson that called us did not know that it was going to be an all-day job and kind of got me confused because they said they weren't going to come 'til the afternoon. But they were supposed to come first thing in the morning because it was going to take them all day to do it. That was the lady calling me not knowing what kind of job it was. That part of it is frustrating too. But the quality of work itself and the product itself are great. I'm very happy with that.

We love the carpet that we purchased from Empire Today. We happened to see their advertisement at the time when we were going around trying to decide what we really wanted to do, because we were thinking along the lines of hardwood flooring in the area that we ended up putting the carpet. We called them and we finally decided to put down all carpet based upon the individual that came here and did some recommendations. He was fine and very helpful. He gave us three levels of carpeting and different colors. I also liked the fact that we had a certain amount of options, not an overwhelming amount of options. We got 16 different manufacturers and we could take a look at all of them. The installer was great and very helpful as well. I had a number of squeaks on the floor and I wanted to be able to tighten them up before the carpet went down. The installer helped me with doing that and he didn't have to, but he did. So, that was nice.

    Reviewed Jan. 19, 2021

When the sales rep from Empire Today, Robert, came out here, he was very respectful and knowledgeable. He listened well. Based off of what we said, he brought in specific samples instead of just bringing in a bunch of samples to overwhelm somebody. He narrowed it down to a couple of different books on each product. The other part of the deciding factor was that he made it sound so easy. It was like a one-stop shop where there were things that needed to be done. We didn't have to get someone that only did carpet then get someone else come in and do the floor. We had things such as the toilet that needed to be moved and we didn't have to get a plumber to move them. He made it sound easy.

The installation team was thorough in that they wanted us to check right away to make sure that the products that we had ordered were the same things like the colors. The challenging part of the interaction was that one of them spoke nothing but Spanish and the one that I was talking to spoke some English but mostly Spanish. I can speak some but I don't speak a lot. Thank goodness that I understood him enough to be able to communicate with him.

When you have that language barrier, they don't always understand exactly what happened in the initial sale with a representative. There was a point where Robert said that if my husband disconnected all of the plumbing, that they can move the sink and cabinet out and move the washer and dryer. I don't think that that gentleman understood that that was a promise. What he said to me in Spanish was that sales people make promises but that those promises they make are not always accurate. It was a little frustrating at first and he didn't want to help move that cabinet so my husband did take it out. He told me, “We're not supposed to move cabinets.” The cabinet wasn't even big. It was for a small slop sink. When I called Robert, he called his supervisor and said, “When they get ready to reinstall that cabinet, I want him to help Mr. ** with it,” and he did do it. The communication between the salesperson and the supervisor for the team that comes out is key.

The other problem we had was I had given Robert half of the money down to order and set the appointment. He told me then the other half will be expected when they arrived, and I said okay. When they arrived, I gave the guy my credit card. He called whatever number they call to get the cards approved and he said that he couldn't get it approved because it was busy. He wanted a check so I started to write a check. Then he told me in Spanish that he couldn't take a personal check, that he wanted a cashier's check from the bank. I told him I was not going to leave the house and go to the bank to get the rest of the money. I said, “This is the same card that I gave Robert. There's not a problem with the card." He was kind of delayed in that he was trying to get it approved before they would work. But he finally sent the other guy upstairs to start working.

He was on the phone for about 30 minutes and he couldn’t get it approved. If the credit card place is busy, then they need to give him another option that he can use so that he's not the one feeling paralyzed by the situation. He said it was so busy and that he was going to stay on the phone, but that he would start working. He was telling me that his supervisor said he couldn't take a personal check and I told him that wasn't true because Robert was going to take a personal check from me. He said that the credit card is a little bit quicker in getting it approved that was why I used the credit card. But it finally did get approved. The crew themselves were really good as far as getting the job done. One started working on the bathroom and the other one started installing the carpet on the stairway. Then they both finished the laundry room together and cleaned up after themselves. They were very hard workers and respectful. They did a great job.

The only thing that would be good to tell the installers is that when they're laying stuff that they're taking, like when they're pulling floors up and they have their tools, instead of laying their tools on the flooring or on the carpeting, would be to have something that they lay down and put that stuff on so that there's not the possibility of scratching or tearing a floor.

Aside from that, there is an issue on the installation of the wood floor. It split apart and it shouldn't have. I called them about the issues that we were having with two of our rooms and I haven't heard back from anybody yet. Somebody called me at one point, then I called them back and that was it. All in all, as far as the new installation, they were great. But the customer service side of it for the ongoing customer is not so great. We had another company that came and gave us some testament, but we went with Empire because they had more choices than the other one. We ended up getting the vinyl plank and the laminate floor, and we're pretty happy about the quality. The installers did two bathrooms for us and they had to come back another day to finish the job. We were expecting them to come between 10:00 and 11:00 in the morning for the second appointment, just like they did the first time, but noon and afternoon came, and we didn't hear anything from them. We gave Empire a call and asked what was going on because my husband took a day off from work waiting for them. They said they were surprised that we haven't heard anything from the installers and another half-hour later, the installers called and said that they were at another job and they wouldn't be over until about 6:00 P.M.

Then, they didn't come until about 7:00 because they were coming from another town, which is about 45 to an hour away. And they didn't finish until almost 11:00 P.M. They came right when we were eating dinner, then they were working until past bedtime. That was irritating for us, but we wanted to get it done because we didn't want to waste another day. They asked if they could reschedule because it was too late and we said no because we already took that time off all day and we were not going to take another time off just for them to install the products. The communication on their part could have been improved and if they would have told us the day before or that morning that they had another place that they needed to go to, then we could have planned our day better. But they did a good job.

The tiles are peeling after less than a month. They are uneven and lines don’t match. They damaged walls and door frames. They left molding uneven and not matching. We reached out to get this fixed. We waited a month to get someone here. The installation manager came out to look at work, he was rude and made excuses for poor quality work. When I pushed for a response to my questions about quality and if he would accept job he said no. We heard from district manager who blamed us for mopping the floor and this caused tiles to peel. So I guess we can never mop floors? Also that we intentionally picked at it.

They blamed us for walking on it too early, but their entire crew marched out on same floor carrying tools and supplies immediately after finishing job. We were not offered a walkthrough, we had to ask them several times to put on masks. The damaged existing baseboard but will not fix because they said it wasn’t written into contract while they wrote contract. They offered to fix some tiles but will not stand by poor quality installation and product. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY.

This company in the past 1 year has cost me over 1500 dollars and months of my time in order to repair the floors and damage they caused as their practices and rules will not allow them to do the right thing. They broke plumbing in my home costing me about $775 and only agreed to compensate me $225. They want to charge me 425 dollars to repair my floor but want to charge me almost 400 dollars to have me buy material to fix it myself. I've seen their reviews on BBB and notice that when they do a good install, it's great but when they make a mistake, they refuse to do the right thing for those customers. I highly urge customers not to be swayed by their low prices as you are getting what you pay for and goodness forbid something goes wrong. Expect them to gouge you on any repairs, even if they are the cause of such damage.

We replaced the carpet in a home that we just sold. It was four bedrooms more or less and stairs. A lot of the sales companies I've dealt with in the past were very sleazy but it wasn't like that with Empire Today. We had noticed a discrepancy originally on one of the quotes but when I reached out to the sales number, everything was taken care of once we identified it. I had a good experience with them.

We've been in our house for 17 years and I needed a closet 'cause I'm pretty much doing away with carpet. I thought, "I'll just call Empire." The process was very simple and very comfortable. The guy came to our house and he was very pleasant.

They gave us a date but somehow, nobody took it out of the system. We were expecting them on that date date but got no notification. We confirmed it four days in a row, and apparently, they were closed down and it ended up being two weeks later. I don't blame anyone but COVID for that. It was annoying, but I understood when we were told what happened. We would still call them again. The guys that came looked at the closet and I felt a little bad for them because they're like, "I don't think we have enough carpet." But they had enough carpet. It's a very oddly-shaped closet and very large too. They were here and out and gone. Everything was cleaned up.

When we cleaned, they helped us straighten it up. One of the workers they had did a great job. She was wiping things down as they were doing other things. I was really impressed. One thing I would suggest is that maybe they should sell felt tips for the furniture with their flooring - something that people who don't know about flooring and moving furniture and things like that would possibly know about too much.

I'd seen other brands, but I purchased from Empire a few years ago and I liked what I had gotten. I called Empire again. The only part of the business transaction that I didn't care for was the sales. The gentleman that came out was not business like. I was supposed to be getting discounts and he wasn't showing me that. He kept saying that the things that I was picking out weren’t eligible for the discounts that I had called about. On the other hand, the installation guys were fabulous. I had two different groups in here for installation. I had one for the carpeting and one for the planking. They explained anything that I wanted that wouldn't work and they went out of their way to show me why as well as to give me what I wanted. Everything that I needed, they provided. They cleaned up after themselves as well. Everything was great.

They removed a slate floor and put down the planking in my den, and it's fabulous. The slate that I had in there was true slate and it was cold all the time. It was dark colors. Now, I have this planking with lighter colors in there and it's great. It brightened up the room and it's not cold like the other one was. The gentlemen that came for the installation for the carpeting were no hesitation too. He asked me, “Was this the right carpeting?” “Is this the right room?” He also asked if there was something special I needed. Overall, I was thoroughly satisfied the first time I dealt with Empire Today and I'm just as satisfied now that I’ve called them again.

I was researching new flooring and Empire Today continuously came up, so I decided to schedule a "free in-home estimate." The fact that they are the "1-day install people" never occurred to me. I was simply beginning my research so I started with an expert. When the salesman arrived, he was very nice and we both wore masks. I appreciate their COVID safety procedures. Very early on, I explained that I was not making a decision that day. I also went so far as to tell him I was not in a hurry, that it was literally my first stop for information, and I'm not even considering new flooring until January.

He could have left at that moment if he wanted, but he didn't. So he measured and we discussed general budget. I, again, explained I had zero idea of the cost of new flooring, which is why I had called them. He asked me about a range between $12,000 - $25,000 - I told him the less expensive route is my preference. I was also floored (no pun intended) at the cost. I didn't have a baseline, but I knew this was likely twice as much as industry standard. After measuring and selecting a couple of samples, he did some calculations, never shared my square footage, a breakdown - nothing. He just said it would be $11,738. He also said it was the "last day" of their 50% off sale.

Now, I know from being a TV watcher that Empire Today has a 50% off sale every week. So having my common sense insulted like that was mildly annoying. He also repeatedly told me he wasn't using sales tactics, which is code for "Hey - these are sales tactics." These tactics included - "last day of the sale," "we will pay the sales tax," and generally trying to convince me to spend $12,000 after a 45 minute conversation and ZERO research or price comparison.

I, again, explained I was not spending $12,000 today. I said I wasn't in a hurry and this was the first step of my research. He continued to push. He again offered financing, which I refused. "But it's free money..." he kept saying to me. I don't appreciate a salesman trying to tell me how to manage my finances either. It wasn't until my MALE partner arrived at my house and was very clear that we WERE NOT making a decision today - even after his "manager" reduced it down again to somewhere around $10,000, that he finally gave up and asked me to commit to calling him that night with an answer.

Upon researching other options, I found I was correct. They were about 45-55% higher than other companies for similar service (I can move my own furniture to save $6 grand). I understand these folks have to make a living and this is their job. I never intended to waste anyone's time, which is why I was transparent with my intentions up front. I didn't appreciate the lack of information (again - where's a detailed price sheet? What is my square footage you're flooring??) nor do I appreciate the overall energy and attitude of being put upon because I didn't agree to give him $10k on a whim.

It is ok to do your research. It is ok to say no and still be treated in the same manner. It is ok to not let yourself be pressured into making MAJOR INVESTMENTS into your home after a quick conversation. I recommend Empire starts to evolve their brand. The elderly population may be easily swayed with promises of lost savings, but I know for a fact, if I called him in 2 weeks and asked for the same exact price, I would get it. If not, I could simply request another Empire Today associate come out to give me a quote. We are not a population of people who are enticed by shady deals and "let me talk to my manager" offers. Follow the direction of the auto industry and treat your potential customers as grown adults who can make intelligent decisions over time.

We purchased a flooring for our entire home, we were told the warranty on the vinyl flooring was lifetime however after only 7 years half of the tiles they used turned from white to yellow, we called them to get it fixed under the warranty and some rude lady told us our warranty was only for 5 years which is a complete lie, we spent $4,000 on these floors and we were ripped off and they basically said oh well it’s not their problem, I’d advise a competitor that stands by their products.

We've had five different rooms done by Empire in this house so we had them come do the sunroom. When the salesperson came, he showed us a few things. We were looking for a particular kind and they don't make it anymore so he showed us something that was like it and we went with it. The installers were very nice people. They were very quiet and they cleaned up. But there are two pieces that looked like they're coming up to us. They're not flat like the rest of the floor. We wanted that fixed.

They were supposed to come here on a Monday and at 10:30 on Monday morning, they called and said they wouldn't be here. They could come on another day. I had taken that day off and moved all the furniture out of the room. They said they'd come on Wednesday. They came and there were 22 boards that were not right. The installer said it won't stay down because the floor is not level. They didn't do anything. The installer says that the only way that could be fixed is if the flooring is taken up, they level the floor out, and then put another flooring down. He talked to the boss on the telephone. He said the guy is going to call us. He didn't call that day and he still hasn't called this morning to tell us what he's going to do.

I'm so unhappy. The people that installed it and the man who sold it should know if it would work or not. We don't know that. That's why we hired a company that we thought was a good reliable company. I feel like I have no customer service from them at all. We've been treated really terrible as not good customers. It's almost Christmas and I've got the house torn apart completely because stuff can't be in that room if they're going to do the floor. I'm so disappointed in them that I could tell everyone I know to not ever use Empire. We used them and they were good but they're not good anymore.

Never have I experienced so many levels of pure incompetence from any company. The original sales guy quoted me way over budget. Was supposed to "work out a deal" and call me back. Never did. I called him multiple times, and emailed him... No response. Ended up speaking with the "regional manager" out of Chicago, and sent a new salesperson out to have me sign a contract. Scheduled an install for 12/5. Later that day I had a call asking if I was satisfied with my install... same day I signed the contract. Then rescheduled for 12/7 due to carpet not getting there in time. Now, they didn't show up on 12/7, and rescheduled me for 12/17. Save yourself the headache! Find a different company. These people are clueless.

I found a discount from another store and there was a $300 savings. But Empire Today did better than that, so that was good. I made an appointment online on the weekend, had an appointment for the next week, and they installed the carpet one week later. We did the installation in one room and then two half stairways. We have a split level and the stairway had carpeting on them, but it was kind of an old oriental style. It wasn’t fully carpeted on the stairs, so I wasn’t imagining anything different.

When the guy came to install the carpet, he asked if I wanted that the carpet didn’t cover the whole thing. He said they would have had to have bound the carpet in order to do that. He also said that they would have to take the carpet back to the factory and they’d have to cut it and bind it in order to bring it and do it on another day. I told him to do whatever was the easiest. The fully carpeted was the easiest one, and it looks a lot better than how it’s been the way it was before, and bound the way I imagined it being. So that turned out better. But it was not something that he addressed or asked me, or even talked to me about when I said I needed these carpeted. If he asked me, then the decision could have been made beforehand.

I picked different carpets for the stairs and for the living room. But they were similar. The carpet that I chose for the stairs was better for more traffic. When the guy came to install it, he had me check the swatch. I said, “Yes.” But then a little while later, I told him, “There are two different carpets. You have the other one, right?” I showed him the pictures and he said, “Oh, yeah.” Then he went out to the truck and he started working. I asked him a little while later if he found the other carpet and he said, “Yes.” But I never checked it. They’re several feet away from each other, but if you look at them, they’re exactly the same, which is fine. The carpet that I ended up with was the more expensive of the two that I had chosen, and it looks great. It’s all uniform. So it all worked out.

The guys that came to install the carpet were wonderful. One of them was more bilingual than the other, so he did most of the conversing with me. There was still a little bit of misunderstanding but everyone worked out great. They were very efficient and professional. I would definitely use Empire Today again. I’m a first-time homeowner and it was my first time dealing with anything like this, but I would now know to ask more questions.

I chose the particular flooring brand because I thought it would serve me best and the person that came didn't offer me any other options. I found out later that I would have been much better off with vinyl plank because I have pets. I wish I had known that before I had the service done because I would have gone with that. But other than that, the experience was fine. Everything was scheduled pretty quickly and the installation went fine. The finished product looks very nice. I'm very satisfied with it. My only fear now is that someone told me that it's probably not going to hold up to my pets. So customers should try to talk to the representative about all the different flooring options and what they're for and how well they'll stand up.

I'm a dog owner, so I really like that they're waterproof and that I can clean them easily. It's a great service. It was very easy too. They come to you. The installers were lovely. They put up with my dogs all day. It's hard to tear your house apart and then put it back together but they made it much easier. It was very worth it. They worked on a house that I had before, and they did a good job there. So I was comfortable going back with them. We did laminate flooring in part and carpeting in the other part. Everything went well. They did an excellent job. The only thing is that there was a noticeable jump in price between what the salesperson originally estimated for the job and what the final product was. But the installers who were there put me in contact with their supervisor and manager, and we were able to negotiate what I thought was a reasonable price between the two. But the initial salesperson who was identifying what needed to be done and quoting a price should have caught some of the major increases in expense.

My name is Kenneth ** and I am a long term customer of Empire Today. Whether it has been for my primary residence or one of my rental properties, I have been completely satisfied with my purchases. From the initial intake, flooring selection, delivery and installation, your team has been top-notch and professional. And you always got my highest recommendation to family and friends. In the customer service world, that's considered a trifecta! Then I had a bad experience! The wrong grade of carpet was installed at my new home and I was having difficulty getting someone to hear my concerns.

My frustration was about to spill over until I received my first call from DeVaughn. He was empathetic. He asked all the right questions. He accepted responsibility for an action plan that we built together. I felt like this "bad experience" was moving towards an amicable solution. With all the initial sorting done, DeVaughn shared that he was transferring the case to his top representative to work through the details. Reluctantly, I annotated the contact information. I didn't know what to expect but my fear turned to absolute admiration in very short order. Rhonda was just amazing to work with as we finished the case. She was resourceful. She was polite and approachable. When she said that she was going to do something, it got done with a priority that made you feel like you were the only customer in her caseload. Who doesn't like that? Your own personal advocate! I felt like a valued customer again!

My two major issues have been resolved. Even with the slow start, Empire Today has re-earned my business. It would not have been possible without DeVaughn and Rhonda. Their actions were genuine and sincere which leads me to believe this is the standard of service they give consistently. Recognize and reward them immediately! Good employees are hard to find. These two are in the category beyond just being good. It has been my pleasure to acknowledge your employees in this way.

Absolutely the worst experience we have had while remodeling our home. We selected Empire today because of the 50/50/50 price. 50% off. The sales rep came to our home, Kale **, and smooth-talked us. We wanted a kitchen, a laundry room done in tile, and our entry room in laminate. None of the rooms are large. He initially had an estimate of $12,000. Wow. When I mentioned the 50% he made the "call to his sales supervisor and magically $6700 appeared. Still very high for 50% off. We were told a 1 day install for the kitchen and laundry room tile with possible 48 hrs before it could be used. Our washer, dryer, refrigerator, and stove were on the front deck before they arrived. We had to put our dog with a kennel and had planned for 2.5 days. The first day they removed the old flooring and prepped the floor and that's it. The second day they installed a quarter of the tile, laundry room, and maybe 2 feet of the kitchen.

I asked the lead what time to expect them on the 3rd day. He said about the same time 8 am-9 am. At 9 He called and said there was a hold up for materials which I found out was cheap molding for the edges. I said we would be installing wood molding and to tell his dispatcher that and to come on. 1 hour later no word so I called the salesman, Kale **, and was told he would check. He called me back and said it would be about an hour. Great. Understand this is the 3rd day of a 1-day job.

After about an hour and a half with no show, I called the installer back and asked for an arrival time. He told me they had sent him out on another job and he wouldn't be back until the next day. If I had not called we would have been waiting the whole day for a no-show. No one even tried to call us to say they wouldn't be back. I have no doubt they overbooked and put us on the hind burner because our job was partially done. OUTRAGEOUS! We called the kennel and luckily were able to leave our dog there.

Now on the 4th day of a 1-day job they came out and finished laying the tile and said they would be back the next day to grout. That evening we started looking at the job and it was terrible! Some tiles were up to 1/8" higher than the others around them. There were many of those. The spaces between the tiles, some were wide and some were closed with tiles touching. Other tiles were crooked. Then most of the tiles didn't line up. We even had 1 tile they cut and put in opposite to the pattern of the rest of the tiles. I called and told our sales rep what a terrible job it was and wanted them to come and remove all of the tiles and leave! I asked him to come to look at the terrible job. He called the "installer manager" and called me back and said we had to let them grout it and finish the job in order for the installation warranty to be any good. I was furious and told him and his installer manager to come out and look.

Of course, the manager wouldn't but Kale said he would be here around 6 pm. We had been stuck at home for this long so we had to go to the store. We came home to a message that he had shown up over an hour early. The next day the installers showed up to grout. My wife and I had our lives up in the air for 4 days now on a 1-day job. I told her we should try to accept everything except the crooked tiles and the one that went against the pattern or our world would be in an uproar for another week. This was in the middle of the pandemic so there was 1 restaurant for takeout open. On the fifth day, they showed up and did the grout, and fixed 3 things. There are still so many tiles that are higher than others and the tiles are misaligned. The grout job was so messy we tried to clean it up but by then the grout was set. No one from Empire Today cared about the terrible job we had.

Sunday I sent 90 MB of photos, around 20 to 30, to their customer service clearly showing some of the misaligned tiles, some of the higher tiles and the terrible grout job, and the terrible finish on the edges. It is Tuesday night with NO replies. By the way, I told them to not come out and do the front room laminate. On the 6th day of our 1-day job, we were able to put our home back together. Our kennel bill at $30 a day was $180 with a totally upset husky.

I cannot tell you how upsetting, unprofessional and amateurish this whole experience was. We checked online about tile jobs and what was acceptable. It said some uneven tiles were to be expected except in rooms where water is present. Well, guess what a kitchen and laundry room have water! Between the tv room and the kitchen, there was a nice gold-colored metal carpet edge and now the carpet has been bunched up and stapled to the floor. I wish I could put the photos here that I sent to Empire customer service so you could see why we are so upset and dissatisfied. Unbelievably dissatisfied and very upset!

There’s an app that recommends different groups for different work and I used Empire Today. I was doing a remodel on my bathroom and I had half of the bathroom taken out. I had to have the tile removed that was on half of the flooring and then I had the whole floor retiled. I had waterproof flooring installed, which is a white with the gray lines. A few years ago, I had them put in carpet and they changed the carpet on me. It lasted two years. I was unhappy but they didn't do anything about it, so I was leery at first. Still, I decided I'd go ahead and try it this time and it was good.

Empire Today also did my bedroom several months ago. The first time, I liked the stuff that they brought out and I had it done. When they came out with the tile, I had it matched to the stuff that they put up to the shower and it blended with that. I thought the price was good and the product seems to be put well. The bedroom floor seems to be holding up good as well (no scratches or anything), and the bathroom floor is not slippery. It’s very nice.

I had carpet installed on the stairs, upstairs in the hallway, and in the two bedrooms in my home. For a mid-level carpet, it feels very nice. When you have to make a decision about how much you can spend and the plushness you're gonna get, this is a good feel. It’s very plush, a little luxurious, and I like that. I initially thought that it was a little expensive with Empire and I cancelled the installation. I also did some cross comparison and I couldn't tell if the quality matched up. It's hard to tell when you're comparing because they don't always use the same language, but I got to talk to an Empire person. They called to check on me to see what they could do to get my business back and they brought their price down a bit more with everything.

They crossed the threshold for me, where the quality seemed a notch above what I was comparing with, and the price point was better. It was comparable and competitive. The service reps that I worked with were absolutely fantastic as well. I had one of the best sales reps I've ever had on the phone. He walked me through the website. He answered my questions. He translated for me. It felt transparent, and you don't always get that in sales. I very much appreciated the service that I received by the online sales rep. He was amazing. Empire also exceeded my expectations in terms of how quickly the workers worked.

In the current environment where we’re all here (many people are working at home, myself included, and I have children here. They're going to school.), the team that came in and did the install were great. They worked super hard and tried to be non-invasive. I appreciated their diligence and their focus on getting through the install. We made arrangements for the baseboards to be installed in the master bedroom, but that wasn't on their work order, so they didn't have the proper tools. The guy totally did the troubleshooting for me. They got another team to come that very next day and take care of the baseboard installation. That could have been much more difficult, but they solved the problem. They didn't even blink.

All in all, it was good except they did a bit of damage on my stair railing that I'm not certain even they noticed. The reason I noticed it is because I had just refinished all the railing before the carpet install because I didn't wanna have the hassle of being careful after the carpet install. I had to do repair work on a section of my railing and that was a bummer, but all things considered, it was a small thing. I was just wondering why the guy didn't point it out to me. Surely, he saw it. It's right here. It's loud and glaring, but maybe he didn't notice it. Overall, the staff was committed to excellence and paid attention to what was important to me.

Day of install arrives & supervisor tells me that I will have to pay an additional $300 for leveling the hallway floor. The contract I have says that leveler is included. Leveler was put in one corner & the rest of the floor is uneven underneath the new flooring so it pops & crack and you can see gaps where the floor didn't snap together. There are also gaps in the other bathroom floor. The toilet was not reinstalled properly & rocks now. These are only a few of many issues.

When you combine that with the fact that I have been calling customer service for over a week & still have not gotten to talk to someone to resolve this issue I am convinced that I made a mistake choosing Empire for my flooring needs. I keep being told that someone will call me back but I am still waiting. My house has been disassembled for over 2 weeks now and I really need this resolved. The sales manager contacted us after we asked the installation team to get involved. He explained what had actually happened so it made sense and we're moving on. We still won't be back, we don't trust the way they train sales on how to resolve issues because of this.

    Original Review: Nov. 21, 2020

We scheduled the in home consultation for 11/12/2020. During the appointment, I asked Georgia if she was new because she seemed very confused and not able to operate the iPad very well. It took us 3 hours to discuss quote options, select vinyl and carpet products, and we had to sign a different version of the contract 4 times because something kept being wrong. At one point she said she had forgotten to add something to the pricing but when we pushed back it just disappeared somehow. Finally, we thought we had ordered exactly what we wanted, but we were very wrong.

The installers showed up on Saturday 11/14/2020 with the wrong material. We were upset because Jamie had called out of work on Friday to ensure he packed and moved everything as suggested in the pamphlet she gave us. Because it was the wrong material we tried to call Georgia. She only replied via text and let us know that we would have to wait until Tuesday 11/17/2020 to reschedule now. We agreed and asked her to send us a photo of the corrected material because we didn't want to have the same thing happen again. She never replied to that text or called.

On Thursday 11/19/2020 the install of vinyl was done but everyone was confused because they had a lot of excess materials. We contacted Georgia to ask how to schedule the carpet install now that the floor was done. She told us we only ordered vinyl. We told her that was not the case and asked how that was possible since she had a note we selected 'Astonish' pattern carpet. We asked to speak with a manager.

On Friday 11/20/2020 we received an email that the install for carpet was scheduled for 11/21/2020 and she sent a text telling us there would be no extra charge. We replied that we were concerned because vinyl is much more expensive so if anything there should be a refund on the amount we financed. She never provided the managers contact or had them call us and never addressed the refund.

At 6:20am on 11/21/2020 I was woken by a phone call to inform me the installer would be there in about an hour, but that it was only 1 single person and so they wouldn't be able to move the furniture (despite the pamphlet she gave us stating we only needed to move breakables and smaller items). So we rushed to get out of bed and start moving things.

I will say the one helpful person was Mary the installation team manager. She listened to my concerns and said she would pass it along to the sales manager.

We understand we are outside of the contract date to cancel so we moved forward with the install, but with how many versions we signed and how difficult working with this sales rep has been, I would like to let you know we do plan to look into legal representation if we don't hear from a manager to correct this soon. We expect that we were overcharged close to $3,000 based on the pricing difference of vinyl and carpet. Although, they didn't ever provide me with an itemized bill, I just had to take Georgia's word on that.

My carpet was installed a month ago and it worked well for what I was looking for. I also looked at other brands and Empire Today was comparable. They were able to do it sooner and the quality was the same to me. Even though there was price difference of a few hundred dollars for the carpet and installation, it didn’t make a big enough difference to go with the other company. Empire Today did awesome.

I am so disappointed and beyond frustrated. We placed our order for a carpet install new version 7 weeks ago. We could have had it installed the next week, but we are remodeling and I wanted to coordinate with construction, so we scheduled further out. Two days prior to our scheduled installation date, we received a phone call stating the carpet was out of stock and would not be IN stock for another week. Mind you, putting carpet in can take a lot of prep work, but we had not moved the big stuff yet so ok, no problem we can wait another week.

They were scheduled to come today between 8 and 4. I received a confirmation email 5 days ago and again yesterday. Knowing installers could be here 8am, we were up and disassembling beds and moving Everything, including clothing, out of the bedrooms to facilitate ease of install. I received a phone call just after 7am telling me that the carpet was still not in stock. I am a pretty understanding person and I know things could be affected by COVID or life happens, but waiting until less than an hour before notifying me of an out of stock product that comes from LA is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. When I shared this with person delivering the message, she said “I’ll make a note in your file.” I have reached out to the salesperson who has not yet returned my calls. I am happy to write a different review if and when we receive our carpet.

I had carpeting and laminate flooring put in. The carpeting is in the family room while the kitchen, dining and living room, and hallways have the laminate floors. Empire Today did an absolutely beautiful job on it. In fact, the two gentlemen that put the laminate floor went above and beyond. They were very good. I'm very happy with the job. At first, I looked at Lumber Liquidators and a couple of other places. Adam from Empire Today came out to the house and he was very good. I had tile flooring in here, and we thought we could put the laminate right over it, but the gentleman said, “It’s not gonna lay right. It’ll cost you a little bit more, but I would advise you to take the tile floor off and just put the laminate down.” I'm so glad that he recommended that because it looks nice. I've had a lot of compliments on it.

We've used Empire in the past and it's been a good product so we continued on with them. We had purchased bamboo hardwood floors from the entryway through the kitchen and the family room but they no longer carry it or anything like it. That kind of messed up our plan so we went ahead and got a replacement of carpet for the dining room. I found out that Empire don’t have the floorings for a long period of time. The different carpets I’ve picked out were no longer carried. That was kind of frustrating. But the representative was really good to work with me to find something else. The customer service was excellent and the carpet installers were fine.

I found that the young lady who came and showed us everything was very nice. I liked the price too. It was within the target price I had in mind, but the young lady had to come out twice, which I apologized for. I usually don't have anyone come to my home to do anything unless I plan on spending money, but my husband was not a believer, so we didn't buy it at the time. My husband had to be convinced and then the young lady gladly came again.

One of the installers had me walk him through it and I showed him everything. He took me out and showed me the carpet in the truck so I could get a good look at it and saw the padding that would go under it. He let me know that for any questions to just go and ask him. He let me know how much I owed as well. We did all of that in the beginning. While he and I were doing the money transaction, his two accomplices were getting to work. He would tell them what to do and they were on it. My mother, my husband and I, all three of us, are very impressed with the quality of the carpet. We feel like we're walking on little pillows. It’s springy and it feels so good to our feet.

We had some carpet put on our stairs and we had the plank laminate done on the rest of the floors. The installers were awesome and they were very skilled, like what they did with the trim. They lined the trim with the 3-1/4-inch rounds. We were really happy with the job they did. Also, the laminate is totally smooth. It's really easy to sweep and keep clean.

Absolutely ridiculous at every step of the process. The salesman was nice and lead us to believe we were getting a good deal by taking a “middle of the road” (his words) product that they had in overstock. Turns out, we were sold utter junk carpet that is so thin you can feel the nails they use to tack it down THROUGH THE CARPET! When I called to ask what could be done, I was told by a very rude person that someone would come to tack the nails down by that’s it. Nothing for my inconvenience or to compensate for the fact that more strangers would need to be coming into my home during covid. I posted on Twitter about my experience and was told someone would reach out. No one did.

The “fix” was also horribly botched. No one gave me a time frame, they just said “Saturday”. I received a phone call at 7:30 a.m to tell me the technician would be there in 10 minutes. Again, 7:30 a.m on a Saturday. The technician then proceeded to do everything in his power to avoid fixing the problem, saying things like “well you don’t walk around the edges of a room” and “your old carpet was thicker”. So, basically, Empire sells a product so bad, you could injure yourself on it and it’s your fault for buying it. Oh, and about 20 minutes after they left, I got an automated phone call saying someone was on their way. After about 15 minutes on hold, that issue was solved. I’ve got two small children, one of whom has special needs. The last thing I need is more hazards in my home. So, stay as far away from Empire as you can because they will disappoint (and potentially injure) you at every turn.

I had carpet and stair runners installed by Empire previously that I was very satisfied with. So when I decided to remove the tile flooring in two rooms and replace with laminate flooring I decided to go back to Empire. After settling on a product and price, I was shocked when the installation team showed up a few weeks later and told me (after tearing all the existing flooring up) that it was going to be $400 more because they were gong to have to level the floor (which was level before the tile was torn up). I battled against this new charge but I was kind of stuck as my original floors were torn up and discarded.

We settled at each taking $200 of the new charge. 3 years later I started noticing the very place where the floor had to be "evened out". The planks were beginning to buckle!!! After having customer service schedule an appointment and confirming that the floor was buckling where it was supposedly repaired. Empire agreed to repair the floor although they would have to replace all of the flooring because the floor was discontinued. So after two more visits to choose replacement flooring and another month passing we were at installment day. Let me add I have to move a 150 gallon aquarium for the install to happen - not an easy task

The installers arrive and say, "If we install this you are going to have the same problem. The items they are selling will not work for this installation." He tells me the only thing that is gong to work is something called VPN. Long story short (this is covering a 6 month period from the time of my initial complaint til now). I was told that they would install the Correct flooring for this job for either an additional $2000 or $5000 depending on the product I select. I told them, "The lesser of the two but am feeling like I'm having to pay for another floor because the one you sold me originally with the additional fee to level the floor" (which is now unleveled). Feels like a scam. Not sure if I'm going to cancel.

The crew did the carpet in four bedrooms, a hallway, and a set of stairs, and a living room. The installation was a very simple process and it went smoothly. They did a good job of helping me. They moved the furniture and stuff from one side of the house to the other. The only thing was the installation crew came around 2:00 so they were there past 7 o'clock which was pretty late. Recently, we needed a new rug and we went with them again. They were excellent and the contractor did the job, who were a man and his son, were terrific. They were all business and when they left, everything was done correctly. They took the existing one out and installed the new one in my wife's office. We bought a new house and if we want to change something, they would be the one we would call. Empire Today gave us a fair price, too. We talked to another company on the phone for something that was going out, which should be have a better price, but it was way higher than what Empire Today installed for us.

When you get Empire, you don't really know who's going to be coming to your house to install the product. And if you get someone else, you know exactly who it is. But I understand that part and I don't have any problem with that. Also, my son in Massachusetts said that Empire is low, but just because it's low, that doesn't mean they're not going to do a good job and the quality is not going to be there. In my case, the experience was great from the beginning to the end.

Ridiculous, horrible, inexcusable experience. We ordered carpeting for 2 bedrooms in a second home we purchased in south Florida. Installation was scheduled well in advance since we were coming down from the midwest to get a lot of things done during a short stay. The afternoon before the install date, I was informed that the carpeting had not been loaded on the truck and I was rescheduled for the following day. That messed up my schedule. The following day, a single installer arrived (it was clearly a 2 person job) and informed me that the company did not give him an adequate amount of carpeting for the job and this would be pushed...again...to next day.

The next day, 2 different installers arrived with enough carpeting but one of the carpets was not what we ordered. It was what we had originally ordered but our decorator changed it and the Empire salesperson confirmed the change...we got the wrong one! We couldn't sacrifice another day to allow the correct carpeting to be delivered so we told them to install what they had. After taking all day to do 2 rooms (I was told it was a 3 to 4 hour job), they incorrectly reassembled the beds that they took apart and left.

When I called to have someone come back and do it correctly, an extremely rude woman raised her voice to me and told me that the disassembly and reassembly of beds is MY responsibility even though I have a pamphlet entitled "Preparing For Your Installation" that clearly says that the installers will take care of it! I'm 73 years old with a heart condition. Do you honestly think I would contract with any carpeting company that wants me to do that myself? Oh...one last thing! The installers insisted on the full balance of payment before they started the installation. Although I find that to be unusual, I agreed. However, the person processing the charge card on the phone insisted that I owed significantly more than the correct amount. It took almost 30 minutes to get that corrected. I tried to speak to someone in the home office to get some resolution of these issues but was denied. CAVEAT EMPTOR!

I went over and looked at it and in the end, I got some hardwood floors from them. I had that installed in the family room and main traffic areas of my home, and I was happy with the outcome. The color enhances the room and that was one of my factors why I decided to go with that one. I also liked the quality of the material that was used. All in all, the quality of the service was great. The salesman was very knowledgeable when he came out and there was one little hiccup initially, but he fixed that pretty quickly. We're satisfied with Empire Today and I'm looking to use the services again for another part of my house because I'm doing it in phases.

We had laminate vinyl flooring in our rental home installed by Empire as they suited what we needed better. The techs who installed worked hard and though the process took a little longer than what I expected at two full days, it was for a whole house and I had to allow time for a whole-house installation instead of just a room. We like that the flooring we got is waterproof and scratch-proof.

Had wood laminate flooring installed. Contract states that it would be placed under stove, refrigerator and dishwasher. The installers installed the flooring under stove and refrigerator but refused to put it under the dishwasher. AT NO TIME was I ever told that dishwasher had to be disconnected and moved prior to install. When doing live chat with Empire, they advised that they don't disconnect gas or water (yet they disconnected my GAS STOVE). Finally, after one week of calling (I had received a service request order the day of install which they said I would be contacted within 1-2 days of install) I called and waited on hold today and they advised that they would reinstall under the dishwasher if I disconnected it prior to them coming out. DO NOT recommend having Empire install any type of flooring.

Empire installed our carpet a few years ago so we thought we could trust them with the kitchen and two bathrooms. It all started with the salesman, Nicholas **, and telling him what we wanted - he agreed to this and we thought he put it into his notes for the contractors. We agreed to light-colored grout for all three floors due to the rooms being relatively small. We agreed to have our current quarter rounds removed in the kitchen and the tile would go under the baseboards in all rooms (the bathrooms did not have any existing quarter rounds). We agreed to not having a threshold placed in any of the rooms (Mr. ** said that since we bought carpet with them previously, they would make the carpet and tiles meet).

We received many surprises - mismatching tiles in the kitchen (some look like they were sitting on a dock for several years), a wooden quarter round nailed into the fiberglass shower and not caulked beneath it (hello rotting subfloor - Empire, you will fix this), a wooden quarter-round somehow held against the tub and not caulked, mistakes made on quarter rounds all over [some too long to fit and smashed together, some damaged and caulked over, thresholds that we didn't ask for installed via cutting into our doorframe and then caulked over mistakes, and thresholds that don't match], no acknowledgment of my emails after submitting a complaint, taking two days to come out and evaluate these issues).

You need to cancel all your appointments and fix what you did! We don't care about YOUR wallet, what about ours? And our floors look a mess! To top it off, we have NO vanities in our bathrooms and PLANNED TO HAVE THEM INSTALLED THIS WEEKEND! Do you know how hard it is to get a contractor to do that at this point in time??? Everyone is booked out 'till January!!!

The contractors showed up yesterday and I was home all day long. It took them 14 hours to do three floors, I was out of a toilet for two hours because they started rushing, and they NEVER asked a single question. (Did we want quarter rounds? Is this grout the right color?) To be fair, Katherine ** was very compassionate and lovely over the phone when taking my complaint. I am extremely concerned, however, because she is not responding to the emails with all the pictures I submitted. I will call them again tomorrow to ensure that the pictures have been received and looked at.

I am so very disappointed with the way these floors have turned out. We were extremely excited to have the floors done as they factor into our remodeling project. We were so very, very deeply upset that they left these floors in this condition. Do you not vet your contractors or are they not experienced enough? Or did you not even communicate with them what we would have liked to have done to our floors? One of the guys also did not wear his mask!

After agreeing to a reasonable price, they sent installers on the scheduled date. They wanted to charge us an extra 1000 dollars for plywood. I was willing to work with them since they said it was required, but they wouldn’t budge on price. I know that plywood is pretty cheap material so when I brought this to their attention, they still wouldn’t work with me on the price. Then, when I tried to follow up with the people who originally kept calling me, they gave excuses as to why they couldn’t talk. Bobby is very deceptive in his dealings. Beware of the prices he quotes you at. Will go with a better company now. Lesson learned.

Two of our bedrooms needed carpets replaced because my parents had their dogs in their room and my daughter had her cat in hers. Both of those rooms smelled really bad. We had the carpets cleaned but that wasn't enough. We needed replacements immediately as we have really bad allergies and we couldn't be in the house without sneezing. That led us to Empire and though they were very expensive, they were able to come within two days. When their techs came to install, the carpet was damaged on their truck and so they weren't able to get the replacement done that same day. Plus, they were gonna charge us so much to do one closet.

My husband called the tech who was at our location and told him that they either had to take some money off the cost or do the closets in the rooms. The techs fought back but ended up doing one of the closets. In hindsight, we should have pushed more because our master bedroom is on the first floor and unless our closet is closed, people can see that it has different carpets.

I've had three jobs with Empire in the last month. I had two bedrooms done in my home, then we have a vacation home in Big Bear and they did the whole house. I also have a duplex and I had them do the living room, kitchen, and service porch there. It just so happened that all three jobs all came down at one time and I was pleased with all of them.

But I was pleased the least with the work at my house because the product arrived with a smell and it took three weeks for the smell to really go away. I'm not convinced that it's totally gone, but it is much better. Other than that, I like the durability of the product and the fact that it's waterproof flooring. I also like the guy who came out and showed me the product. I liked him very much and I used him at all three houses. I would also tell others about him and tell that he would help them.

Everyone should be aware that when you use Empire (which I never will), you’re stuck with them. They are an installation company, so once you install their product, they are the only ones who can repair and if it’s not covered under warranty, you have to pay whatever price they want to match your flooring. I bought a house last year, beautiful vinyl flooring throughout. Soon after, a dip in the sub flooring made several pieces of vinyl begin to crack. After asking 3 companies to review, all offered modest repair costs IF I could get a box of the same flooring - it has to be a match!

I track down that it was sold and installed by Empire, and although the sales rep clearly said it would have been covered under warranty if I was the original owner, I had bought the house and wasn’t the original purchaser. The quote was, at a minimum, over $600 more than the other THREE quotes. And could go up to $1500, as they are said they need to open up almost half the room. No one agrees with their assessment but - I’m stuck. Either I have to replace the entire room with something other than empire (which I feel like doing because I’d never want to use them after this experience) or I have to pay a minimum of $800 to replace 3 pieces and level out the floor underneath. Seem pretty nuts when a host of other independent flooring experts are saying otherwise - and all agree, this is Empire's game! So beware!

Long story short, we had LVP installed in a small 55 sq. ft. walkway by our front door, replacing traditional ceramic subway tile. We knew we would need a new subfloor so that was factored into the quote. What these idiots didn't do was measure the amount of flooring needed and installed a single sheet of 1/4 inch when 3/4 inch was needed, so now the floor they installed sits a noticeable half inch lower than the rest of my floor with huge gaps under the trim. On top of that they didn't bring enough quarter round to finish the job.

When questioned about why more floor wasn't added their response was "you didn't pay for more floor". These idiots have the absolute nerve to blame the homeowner for their installers' screw up and dodge our calls for resolution, claiming, "We can't do a chargeback" because we signed a "contract" which also states they need to come to an agreement with us with fixing any screw ups before we go the legal route. Well it's been 3 weeks and they aren't offering any resolution, or even affording us a call back, so we are going the chargeback route, along with contacting the BBB and the AG.

Finally on August 18th the order arrived. The installer delivered the blinds and started the install. I noticed that the blind for my front door was the wrong color after it was already hung. The installer then advised me that the skylight blind was also incorrect because it was not meant for a skylight. He then advise me not to worry he would take care of the mishap and then proceeded to leave.

I contacted empire the same day to advise them of the mix-up, and was assured someone would reach out to me within 2-5 days. I have called Empire over 10 times since August 18 to inquire about my order, I have yet to receive a callback from anyone. When we called them they said their system made a mistake and now it is scheduled for 10/20/2020. They come to install and now they don't have enough carpet. Installer says he is short by 20 feet. And they don't have more of the same carpet at warehouse. That means now I have to pick another carpet and reschedule another delivery date. I have elderly parents in 80s whom I had to send to my sister house so they could install carpet. They have already vacated all furniture from bedroom and now I or my 3 children won't have a bed to sleep till this is taken care off. They have no courtesy and horrible customer service. This is the last time I am using them. Will not recommend them to my friends and families.

I've used Empire once before to put in laminate on the first floor of my home. I had no problems with the first time I used them but this time the financing was a disaster. The salesman was the same man who came the first time, super nice and knowledgeable. The installer who came was awesome as well. He discovered a problem with the leveling on my second-floor hallway and did what needed to be done to correct the issue so that my new flooring could be installed correctly. Great guy. However, when it came to the financing I was screwed. I told the salesman to put it all on the account from Synchrony from the first time which had the full available balance.

On the day of install, the installer came and told me that the full balance was due and I told him that it was being financed on the Synchrony card. The work was completed. I received a call a couple of days later from the Houston office stating the financing didn't go through because there was no available credit. I checked my account and it said differently. The next day, she called back and said that they still didn't approve of the financing. I told her to check again since there was still a credit line of $2,000. She called the following day to say that Synchrony wanted me to call them. Come to find out, Empire preauthorized $1,350 the day before the install and then didn't push the authorization through after the install.

Two days after the install, they charged my account $638. They told me that I was going to pay the remainder at the time of install, which I clearly did not say I would do. I apparently said this even though they had already preauthorized the full amount. At this point, I immediately locked down my Synchrony account, which Synchrony ignored. After 4 days of ignored emails and phone calls from the Houston office, they called me and said that the $638 was refunded back and the original $1,350 was charged. My account doesn't currently reflect that, however. My question as to why the preauthorization was not pushed through and why $638 was charged in place of it was still met with lies and bull. No explanations. Just, "Here, have a nice day." Screw Empire Today. Never use this company if you value your money and credit.

Yes, excuse me, since the company can not do their job we are told to put our lives on hold!?. They said they were doing everything they could which is a lie! Mind you, no one cares that there is a cost on our end and affecting our bottom line, there are things scheduled and contracts we can not go back on. Ridiculous! Contacted multiple people and all said there was nothing they could do. So we have to pay since someone can not do their job.

We had carpet installed June 15th 2020. The installers ran out of carpet and called other people over to “piece together” fragments of carpet because they wanted to finish in one day. You can see all the seams in every room. We called the same week the carpet was installed to complain about the seams. I vacuumed the carpet one time and the edges where 2 of the seams were, came up and frayed at the edges (creating a hole in the floor). Empire Today had told us the install would take 2 days originally but they wanted to finish in 1 day. Since June, we had someone come over to our house to “fix” the seams, we had an installation manager out to the house and he even said we should not be able to see the seams. It is now, September 2020, and 3 months have passed and still no solution to the problem.

Empire Today is now saying that WE caused the problem with the carpet (unusual wear and tear) and they will not give us a rebate or discount or anything on the $8,900 of money we spent on carpet. It seems their tactic is this: Delay, delay, delay doing anything to help the customer, and then when too much time has passed-tell the customer that they caused the problem. When, indeed, the problem started at installation. They do not stand behind their one year warranty-it’s just a ploy to they use to sell people more carpet. I would love to say they have rectified the problem. But they have not.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH EMPIRE CARPET. I have no reason to write this review other than to warn other customers who might be lured into spending a lot of money. When you have a problem, they will not answer their phones, they will not give you any money back for mistakes they have made, they will not fix or change the carpet (the supplier actually DCd this kind of carpet we bought); you’ll be lucky if they ever even call you back.

I purchased flooring in the amount of $3,052 and paid a $765 deposit in late February 2020. Covid19 came, EMPIRE had difficulty meeting the initial installation date, and I agreed to postpone installation. Covid19 then affected me financially and I continued postponing the installation date to the point when I decided in mid September 2020 that my best option was to cancel the purchase. At that point, EMPIRE upheld the 15% penalty fee for canceling the order, not caring about the dire conditions cast by the pandemic and my history as an old client. Shame on you, EMPIRE!

Note: Empire Today erases all of its negative reviews on Social Media and online if they can. The common response is "please contact us and we will look into it," or "someone will be contacting you soon." They NEVER do. This is a very detailed interaction. You also can never file a complaint with their office and there is no dispute resolution. If you call the corporate office you will be required to have an extension to reach someone but customer service will not give you that extension. So you cannot go up the ladder. You are stuck.

If I could give this review a NEGATIVE FIVE I would. Poor quality carpet, always sales consultant, no follow through, installation was bad (only realized it after a few days), and once they get your money you can forget about them honoring what their salespeople or managers promised. The rating is an A+ but only because the BBB does not take reviews into account. The only requirement I wanted and stated from the very first call of making my appointment to the sales rep was a carpet that would show no lines and no foot traffic. It was THE MOST IMPORTANT item and I was promised to get it. Instead I got a carpet that shows all the traffic and I have more work to do around the house. I chose Empire after looking for carpet for months.

The experience has been the worst regarding their sales representative Coleton, their customer service member Christian, their manager Caitlyn, and her assistant Shay. Coletan called me to say he would be to our appointment in 20 minutes. An hour later I called him to ask where he was. He said 5 minutes away. He finally arrives 40 minutes later explaining that he was closing on a new home and his realtor called about a problem. At first we turned him away, but since he was there already we decided to let him come in. HUGE MISTAKE. He showed me 3 samples. We picked a color we like and Coleton guaranteed it would not show lines or traffic. I ran my hands across the sample I did not see any. We were satisfied.

Later he said that he had more samples usually but they were at home packed in boxes. I thought what we got was a good price, $2700, and I liked the color so we were fine. Installation day. I was asked to confirm that the installers had the carpet I picked. It was rolled up but it was the right color and carpet. Christian called to ask me how installation was going. I explained they hadn't not started installing yet, only tearing up. She told me to call back to the number she called me from if there were any problems. We waited in the car since there was nowhere to sit in the house. I checked on the progress and saw that the carpet had their footprints. One guy was in the living room working and only half the carpet was laid.

I IMMEDIATELY called Christian at the number she gave me 4 times. No one ever picked up. I called and left a voicemail that there was a problem. My installation was a Saturday. She called me back on the following Tuesday. I explained the problem. She said a manager would call me. End of week and still no call. I called back again and explained the situation. Caitlyn finally called. I explained the problem. She offered me to get another carpet type and to pay for it but I would get a 50% discount. I would still owe the $2700 from the first installation. She went on to explain all of the things that the sales person should have explained, even telling me I should have went with a Berber carpet.

That was never an option offered. Then we discussed giving me a discount on the carpet that I already had. She said she would call me in two days to inform what discount I could get. She never called. I responded to the survey Empire sent via email and a man called me. I explained the problem and he said that he would have the manager call me. Instead she had her assistant Shay call me. Shay made me feel hope again. She apologized and told me that I did everything that I was supposed to do. She said that they have been short staffed and that was why no one answered the phones on the day of installation.

She said that normally the policy is to allow the customer to change the carpet but get a 50% discount but in my case it was not my fault and I would have no way of knowing the carpet would show lines because the sales person said it wouldn't, the sample didn't show it, and then no one answered my call when I tried to fix it. She scheduled an appointment for an inspector to come back and look over everything and find a solution. She said the manager would be calling me to make everything right. That was a Friday. On Monday Shay called completely different attitude and told me there was nothing they would do because I signed a contract and agreed to the carpet and I should've stopped the installation in progress even though no one answered the phones.

She said someone would have eventually contacted me to pick out new carpet but she did not know how long it would take. Meanwhile, I would have been in my house with exposed nails, subflooring and cement. I explained that Caitlyn promised to discount my carpet but Shay said that Caitlyn never told her that and she would check with her. I asked her to have Caitlyn call me back. She never did. Today I received a call from Shay telling me that I owe the full amount and I could pay to choose between the two Berber options they had, but it nothing would be done from Empire. I have attempted to reach corporate, I have filed a complaint with the BBB, I have disputed the amount on my card. No result.

Updated on 10/13/2020: I submitted my initial complaint on 09/10. Details are in a screenshot. No one reached out. In fact, I was contacted by their sales department trying to sell more to me. I explained that I am not happy with the customer support or product. The salesperson promised to follow up and that never happened either.

Original Review: Had my LVP installed in May 2016. Last month I noticed buckling of the floors (less than 4 years of light use). Contacted customer service support and was advised that it will be $100 for them to come over and evaluate what was wrong. After evaluation, I was advised that although couple of planks needed to be replaced due to product issue, but since it was 4 years, they will have to redo the whole room for the discounted price of $700. A little prior me noticing it, I had the adjacent room remodeled with using Empire Today as well.

One of the installers asked me whether the floors of the room in question were installed by ET. I said yes, and he never said anything, but now I realize that he has seen the issue and failed to tell me the truth. Highly disappointed in how they treat repeat customers. The room is not very big. I paid $1,200 in May 2016, and now I have to pay another $700. Poor practice, dishonest treatment. PS: at some point representative responded to my concern that installation warranty is only one year... "We have to take our of our installers". And all those years I thought it was all about customers.

We had wooden floors installed in August 2020. The salesperson was very nice. When the installers came to the house, they were were acceptable. Unfortunately, I wasn't there when they were finished and within an hour of their departure, I noticed a piece of the wooden floor was chipped in the living room. I called immediately and I called and I called and I called. I even called the Salesperson. No response to my problem and still have not heard from them concerning standing by their product. The installers also left materials on our patio for us to clean up. The floors are beautiful except for the problem. I really can't believe they will not stand by their product. I would never purchase anything from them again.

I had my floors done by Empire in 2018 and the installation went real good. The sales person that came out started off with the price way too high but then when I told them I wasn’t interested magically the price came down a whole $7000.00 which was such a joke to begin with but I went for it anyway. Here’s the problem I want everyone to understand. I had a dishwasher leak that damaged some of the laminate flooring planks in front of the dishwasher so I called Empire to get a price on repair. I talked to a customer rep that told me to just email them pictures of the damage. I then received a call back saying, "You need the whole floor replaced" and it’s going to cost big $$$$.

I told the customer rep that it’s not necessary to replace the whole floor and she said, "Ohhhh ok, I’ll have to go back to see what we can do." Well folks, that’s where it all ended because now, no one emails you back, calls you back or even wants anything to do with you. So it’s very simple, after the sale you are nothing to them, once it’s installed it’s your problem and if it gets damaged you are screwed because the materials/products they sell are their own and you can’t buy them anywhere else. Just be aware that this company and their deals are all meant for a one time sale and then, you're tossed in the trash. Trust me.

Then they sent out their install manager, and he said they shouldn't be doing that. So I called today and manager said he didn't say that. They keep putting down on paper work that I used wood polish. Which I have never said. They do that to make it seem like I did something wrong. I have never polished anything in my life.

For them to continue deflect blame on me is unprofessional and wrong. Now I have superficial scratches all over and at first they blamed the manufacturer now there saying there scratches. Even though install manager said more than once in front of my entire family this floor isn't holding up to standard. Their resolution is for me to pay for new flooring and pay them to reinstall it. This company will play games and over promise and under deliver. Now I have dispute $10,800 in charges with my credit card company. Apparently samples brought to your home are treated differently (like with Scotch Guard) so they are of higher quality than what you get installed according to the representative of my case. These samples have more treatment so they can withstand going home to home and not deteriorate in quality. Apparently this is why the sample you order off of does not match the final product’s quality you received.

On Saturday, August 1 we had a sales representative from the Empire flooring come to our home with samples. When he asked what kind of carpet we were interested in I specifically stated a certain type of carpet that we had in our previous home that we loved and we would like in this home as well. It was BLISS by Beaulieu, which when liquid was poured upon it, the liquid would pool and not absorb into the carpet. We have a dog with illness who has lots of accidents and a toddler who spills. That was the only way I was interested in getting any carpet at all if there was something that did that.

Our sales representative was absolutely wonderful and we had a great experience with him. He knew exactly what I was talking about and I even showed him screenshots from pictures that I took of the carpet we had in our previous home so he knew exactly what I was looking for. He brought us a sample book and told us he has had customers pour coffee over his samples to prove how they repel liquid. My husband proceeded to fill a glass of water from our kitchen and throw it on the sample where it immediately beat it and fell to the floor. No liquid stayed on top of the carpet. We were absolutely thrilled so we decided to put this carpet in our living room and loft area, going with a different kind of carpeting in all of our bedrooms, we were just so thrilled with the products on the sample boards we decided to re-carpet our entire house.

On the day of installation the installers did a great job. The numbers on my contract and names of the carpet all matched the information they had. But I noticed when looking into a bedroom off of the living room that the living room carpet felt very differently than the sample board they had just brought it in but it wasn’t lay down yet so I didn’t think much of it. A short while later the installers took a break for lunch and I checked the progress. The living room carpeting was installed but it just did not feel right at all. I got a glass of water and put some on the carpeting and it’s soaked in immediately like a sponge, I was horrified!

I immediately called my sales rep and left him a message. He called me back a short time later and was very surprised. He was going to call the insulation manager and I would get a phone call back in a little while so they could figure out what was going on. The installers went upstairs to continue working as there were still three bedrooms to be done and I waited a phone call that never came.

The following day our sales rep was surprised we have not received a call and he would try getting in contact with who needed to be talked to about this manner. I received a phone call and tried to explain the situation to the lady on the phone but she kept thinking there was water damage to the carpet and couldn’t understand what I was trying to get across. The following day our wonderful sales rep came back to our home with his sample board and he and I proceeded to keep testing the sample board versus the carpet that was laid down. He told us he had customers with that carpet installed over 100 times and it’s never felt so firm to walk on, especially being that it’s not on a concrete slab.

We poured water together on the sample pad and on the flooring, the sample pad had the water bead on it and pull up while my carpeting absorbed immediately upon contact. We were able to get an inspection scheduled and our installer left his sample book with us so I could prove my point because he thought the carpeting was defective. The inspector was also wonderful, I showed him videos and photos on my phone and showed him the sample board laying in my kitchen with water beaded on it. He asked me to email him the video that I have but unfortunately his email address would not work.

The company stands by the fact that after their own investigation the carpeting is not defective and that sample boards are treated so they have a longer lifespan when brought into customers homes so they have more product built up on them so technically the quality of the product on the sample board is not exactly the quality of carpeting that is installed.

We now have two rooms of carpet that do not function as promised via the samples provided, and the company said the only thing that can be done is we pay for the carpet we have and they will give us 40% off new carpet as well. I will never purchase carpet based on a sample board again because the sample board was admittedly treated so it is different quality than the carpet installed. I cannot believe it is OK to sell products that cost thousands of dollars to consumers that are a different quality than promised. They told us because the carpet is installed there’s nothing they can do about it even though I was making phone calls during the installation process that something was not right and no one got back to me.

Now, I’m the owner of new carpeting in two rooms that I desperately regret purchasing. I do not by any means agree that the work is substantially complete because the material installed is not functional as intended. Bringing a sample into a customers home that is not the quality of the final product and that does not do what is shown per the sample, and having the final product not be of the same quality is false advertising.

We will NEVER AGAIN use or recommend Empire Today for any future projects. Henry B the sales rep for Empire was prompt for our Monday morning appointment. He explained the process and we signed an agreement to purchase carpet and padding for 3 rooms of a small apartment. We asked if the installer trimmed doors if needed and he said yes however there would be an additional charge. Because we do not live in the same town as the apartment we requested a morning installation for the following Monday a FULL week away.

The morning of the installation Empire called to inform us that the installation would be pushed back to SOMETIME in the afternoon. Unfortunately we were already on our way to the apartment believing Empire would honor the requested install time as noted on our sales agreement. Not surprisingly a call to Henry B went unanswered. After a couple of more calls to Empire we were told the installer would contact us approximately 1 hour before his arrival. The installer arrived at 2:30 in the afternoon. Three hours later the installation was complete. To be fair the rugs looked good and the installer cleaned up the 3 rooms quite well. However, when asked if he would trim the doors we were told NO. He did not have the equipment.

Empire Today FAILED to honor our request for an early installation even though the installation date was set for a week out. Henry B our salesman did not bother to return our numerous calls until late the next afternoon claiming the scheduling issue was not his responsibility. His reason for not returning our calls was that he was very busy with appointments. He also said that he was not aware the installer had to be told prior to the installation that doors may need to be adjusted. Once the sale is made Customer Service was NOT a high priority for Henry or Empire Today. No effort was made to accommodate, inform or follow up with us. Empire Today? I don't think so.

Damage to our wall when the carpet was installed and the salesperson was not knowledgeable enough to know we had asbestos flooring down in our laundry room and that had to be removed first by a licensed abatement company. We now have to pay an additional $1400 for the removal. When we called them, the person we spoke with was very rude. We cancelled our order and got our deposit back. Do not use this company for anything!

Back in May I decided to have my flooring done since my rug was old. I have been saving up for new floors for almost 5 years. Little I know that I would be paying $2,167 for work that was never going to be done. I was given a contract to sign for almost $9,000 which was a high number for me but it was in my max range and I could afford it and. The mistake I made was signing the contract. The salesperson told me that they have no availability until 1 week later from the date I sign the contract to install the floors.

The day of installation the salesperson came back to me and said well you have to pay an additional $4,000. I was shocked because there was is no way I can afford an additional $4k. I told him that and he pretty much said too bad. I told him I cannot have the work done since it's a huge increase. Empire response was too bad then you signed the contract. They are still giving me a difficult time to return my $2,167. I'm getting sick over it because I work really hard for my money and to to just give it away while nothing was done is quite depressing. They make these contracts so that they can keep your money even if they messed up. Please be aware of their contract. Empire Today please return back my money and please do more accurate estimate before having a contract sign.

We hired Empire to complete a re-tiling of our lower floor. We boxed all of our valuables and put them away as instructed, away from the installation area.

Nonetheless, their people moved boxes in our bathroom that contained priceless family heirlooms that they broke and shattered such that they cannot be replaced. The glass is over 150 years old and given down from my grandmother. So far, they have only offered a $2,000 discount for this damage. Do NOT hire them if you care about your items.

I wish I hadn’t used this company. They came out and did the floors fast, that was great, except there were some areas that were dinged up so they came out a week later to fix. That part we were happy with. Unfortunately they had cut some of the floorboards too short so slowly they have been making a gap near the wall. I have been calling every week for months. Every time I was told the person working on our account wasn’t in the office or wasn’t available and that no one else would be able to help us. I have been on the phone over 50 times with this company.

This has been going on for months. Finally I have been able to reach a person named Katherine, who stated they won’t sent anyone out unless we pay for it so that’s what we’re doing now (even though initially 4 months ago I was told they would send someone as soon as the company opened up from the COVID-19 pandemic... (I guess that was another lie). I am so disappointed in this company and the runabout we’ve been getting for months. We were going to use them for the other flooring that we want to do but now we will have to find a different company who stands by their product instead.

I chose my carpet, made the install date, they called to confirm and no one showed up as my carpet was not ready. I could wait a few weeks or pick another color, which I did. After an all day install We thought all was ok. When vacuuming the next day to pick carpet fuzz and backing pieces, left behind by installers, this is when these snags happened. The stairs was the first place we noticed. I wanted a very strong and wearable carpet because of the stairs and wear places from walking. I had 2 different salespeople tell me how good this carpet is for that.

I call service to schedule a repair and to check the lump where the seam in the master. She argue with me about the stairs saying it’s my fault and has to get it approved and that I would have to pay for repair. After this was resolved, When they finally came They hammered the heck out of the bedroom with no results, said it could take 4-5 weeks to lay down and replaced the stairs carpet.

I had also had another service call after more arguments with service, showed them the front bedroom under the bed where there was snag and pulled it and now we have a 8-10 inch run. He said he would recommend replacing front bedroom and waiting on master. When service called to check what he had done, she said there was no notes on replacing. We again called customer service told them and he said he would put it in the system. The customer repair service called today and told me I have to pay for the replacement carpet which is 6 weeks and in a guest room and wait on master. What happened to the 10 yr warranty? This carpet was installed on June 25 ‘20 and I’m still getting the runaround.

This is my second time using Empire Today. The sales rep showed up 50 minutes late for a two hour window appointment. Then blamed it on the department that sends him where he is going. I had specifically said on my reservation for an appointment to send someone who isnt afraid of dogs. This gentleman was so afraid of dogs he asked my kids and myself several times if my dog was going to get him (had my dogs contained in the back yard the entire time). Everything I ask of him seemed to be a hassle. I asked to see more colors of carpet, he was put out. I asked for two quotes - one for the carpet special they had running and one with better grade carpeting. He went and measured the rooms with a digital laser (not much work). Three small bedrooms a total of 423sq ft.

He gave me the first quote and it was more than I could afford, so I asked him to give me a price just for the two rooms and not three. This upset him because he now had to remove what he had already put in the computer to get me a new price. He never gave me an estimate for the lower grade carpet like I asked. He then quoted me a price for the two rooms after I told him I couldn't afford what he quoted for 3 rooms. The price was $700 less for two rooms! So in a weakened state I said yes.

After he left I talked to my husband and decided to call around. I found a better price and amazing customer service. So Saturday I called to cancel my order, I spoke to a sweet lady who got my info and ask to me to hold on while she connects me to a different department. I was on hold for about 10 minutes (give or take). The man that came on the phone after that was rude. When he asked why I was canceling I shared the above story. His answer to me was, "Well we've been in business for over 60 years. Obviously we are doing something right." I was shocked.

He then proceeded to ask me who and where I found cheaper carpet and install, before I could answer he was like, "It must be a friend or someone you know." He then asked me why I said yes and put a deposit down in the first place. I told him honestly I said yes to get the man out of my home, I wasn't feeling comfortable because everything I asked of him was such an issue. I had asked prior if I gave a deposit if I could cancel. He told me I had 3 business days. He then went on to ask me, "Well did you feel threatened by the sales person." I answered no just uncomfortable. I asked to speak to his manager and he said, "No there is no one here for you to talk to, you'll have to call back Monday." Honestly, I felt like a piece of crap after I got off the phone. Not even an apology.

Installation on hardwood floors was extensive. Only was 2 installers ripping out our old floor and putting in our new floor. Was told it would take a few days to finish. It took about 2 weeks and my home was tore up and dusty. They did not show up the day and time they were suppose to. Floor was expensive. Looked great when finished. This was approx. 2 years ago. I noticed one section of the hickory hardwood pulling away and there leaving an inch spacing between the boards. I called and put in a service ticket. Was told someone would contact me within 2-3 business days.

When they called back the number comes up unavailable. It went right to my voicemail. The person left a message telling me to call back and dial ext 2. I've tried about 10 times and get the voicemail. I've left multiple messages with no return call. I've tried a different number twice and spoke with someone who said they would leave a message with the repair manager. I've gotten one call back again. They let my phone ring once. I've tried the number again with the voicemail and again no return call. They say there is a warranty on the floor. But if you call for any repairs don't expect to be able to get this solved or be able to speak with someone. I spent 11k on this flooring and expect a call back. Horrible customer service.

That morning, AFTER our appointment should have started, they called and said they couldn't make it because of low inventory. How did they not know this until AFTER our appointment time??? We called and called to complain, and were once told we would be compensated for living this way while we wait, but we are just now, the night before the reschedule, being told we will receive nothing. I scheduled an estimate for my basement and stairs to be carpeted. An Empire Today sales rep came to our home with samples and provided a price estimate after walking through our basement. She was very nice and professional during this appointment and answered all of our questions/concerns. During the price review, she indicated that our basement could not be carpeted as is; our basement has tile, which she indicated could not be carpeted over without either ripping up the tile or pouring a solution over it to fill the grout lines. She informed us that laying carpet without doing either option would void the carpet warranty through Empire Today. Our stairs were also in bad shape (laminate steps that were coming apart at the ends) and she told us that the installation job would include repairing the steps to "make it safer for our child".

We agreed to the price estimate (which was about double the home depot quote), specifically for the repair of the stairs. Upon arrival of the installation crew, they began putting down tack strips directly to the tile. I informed them that the sales rep said the warranty would not be valid if the carpet was placed directly over the tile and they were confused and not aware of this. They also were not aware of any plans to repair the stairs, commenting that they only lay carpet on the existing subfloor; any repair is done prior to their arrival. I was unable to continue with the install and contacted Empire customer support, where I was told an installation manager would reach out within 24 hours. After waiting 24 hours without a call, I contacted the call center and spoke to a manager there. The manager, Evette, was the only person that actually seemed interested in helping me and continually attempted to reach the Baltimore installation managers with no success.

Throughout this, I received a call and text from the original sales rep, where she continually told me that she did not say what I was claiming and asked if I just wanted to cancel since there was "a communication issue". The final correspondence I received was informing me that they were rescheduling the install crew to come a week later and that they would level my floors "at no additional cost" even though this was already part of the agreement. The lack of communication from the regional management office and constant disregard for the original expectations is completely unprofessional, and makes me feel that my money was just another drop in their bucket. I will never use or recommend Empire Today again.

It took 3 separate attempts to get an appointment as the first two never showed up - 2 separate 2 hour windows of time wasted for nothing - plus hours spent with customer service trying to figure out why nobody would show up. We were even offered $150 off for our troubles. Salesperson showed up on 3rd attempt, we agreed to a purchase, including fixing the hardware floor in our bedroom that wasn't installed correctly the first time. We agreed to a price, installer showed up saying the sales rep's measurements were way off and didn't have enough supplies to complete the job. The rep didn't call until the day after to tell me he heard there was an issue with the hardwood floor installation and if I still wanted it done. Of course I did, but rather than honor the price we agreed to, it increased +66%.

While I questioned the ethics of the surprising last minute cost increase of +66%, the sales rep, Jeff **, got defensive, threatened to be done with us as a customer, claimed to elevate to management, who have been completely unresponsive. Continued conversations with customer services provided a lot of promises and zero action. Empire has our money and won't confirm if/when the rest of the products we purchased will be installed. Mr. ** will take no responsibility and apparently nobody else will at Empire. All we ask if for the products and services we agreed to and paid for are completed - still waiting.

I have little confidence of a resolution as nobody with authority to resolve this apparently has no desire to do so. I have no problem with mistakes, it's how a mistake is handled and Empire has earned an F in this department. Maybe too late for me and my family but a cautionary tale for everyone else - be sure to consider other options before final purchasing decision, I don't wish the Empire vortex of customer service hell on anyone!!!

I read all of the reviews and was really afraid to use Empire. However my experience is nothing like the reviews. They are a little on the expensive side. However, it was seamless. They installed in one day rather than 2 as originally estimated. After the installation, there were some tacks I could feel walking on the carpet. I called the service number, received a call back the same day after they opened a ticket and they had the original installer scheduled to come out in 2 days to do the repairs. The original installer came out and hammered down all the tack strips to ensure there were no tacks poking through. I am extremely happy with the installation and the quick response for the repair request. The only reason I gave 4 stars rather than 5 is the price. It would be nice if they were a little more economical or if the salesperson showed more samples -- they do tend to come out with 5 or 6 and try to steer you towards one of those.

I've purchased flooring from Empire twice. First was carpet, which lasted about a year before it started looking aged and started pulling up from the floor. Blaming it on children and an active household, I foolishly went back to Empire when it was time to replace the floors again. The sales reps were nice, but ill-informed. They showed me products that were no longer available, and didn't seem to have the answers to my questions about others. Ultimately, they assured me the flooring I'd picked out was durable and offered guarantees to ensure it wouldn't tear up. I was specifically told it was build to withstand children and pets. A week later it was installed by a great team who worked quickly and thoroughly. The new floors looked like a million bucks.

Cut to three weeks later when there are gouges in these allegedly "tough" floors. It took me two days to get a customer service agent on the phone, and then a week longer before the appropriate person could call me back. A week later they send someone out, and they stain over the gouges so it's "good as new." The lady calls to follow up and explains to me that the damage to the floors is "normal wear and tear" and not covered by any policies. She tells me she is in no way responsible for any promises made by the sales team. She tells me the contractor repaired the floor as a "one-time courtesy" and that I should not expect that to happen again. These floors were expensive but are cheaply made. Management offers no warranties or guarantees, and are quick to blame the customer for their shotty materials. I would never purchase from them again, and I would not recommend them to anyone else. What a scam.

It is extremely rare that I take time to document a complaint. This is one. The Empire Today installer was there to install my kitchen floor. He started removing the original linoleum and came upon a section, under the linoleum, by the garage entry door that had either old termite or water damage. He took pictures, saying he needed his bosses approval to continue. He checked the moisture level saying it was too high and that I needed to have the subfloor repaired before work could continue. I immediately searched online for a subcontractor and luckily found one who came right over. He found the damage was only to the Luwan wood and not the subfloor. They talked and agreed it was not a real problem. The Empire Today installer said he could resume installation another day if his boss approved.

Evidently the boss did not approve because a few days later Empire Today called two different times to verify the subfloor work was completed and that they would not complete the installation otherwise. When the subcontractor was at my home, he gave me a couple of estimates depending on what was found pending further inspection. My kitchen was in a mess and already contractually obligated to Empire Today so I had to comply with their demands to repair the subfloor. I contacted Orkin for termite service. No termites found. No moisture under the house either. I then had the subfloor contractor to return. He cut out and replaced the section of luwan wood that was in question. Only that section was replaced. Subfloor is level. No issues. The cost of the subfloor repair was $250.

When the Empire Today installer returned he resumed removing the linoleum. As they were doing so the 19 year old linoleum, in a different section of the kitchen, stuck to some of the original luwan wood. The Empire Today installer then says he has to remove all the luwan wood including the section just replaced by the subcontractor. Otherwise the floor would obviously be unlevel. Now the repair for $250 is wasted money. Empire Today could have just removed all the luwan wood and installed the their flooring over my subfloor from the start. To summarize - Empire Today demanded repairs be made. I paid $250 for repairs. Empire then removed the repaired section. Empire Today then installed the new flooring.

After explaining what occurred to a member of their management he agreed to refund the $250. A couple weeks later and I haven't heard from them. I reinitiate contact. A different member of their management calls and says the installer and the district (I think) manager denied my claim. They lied stating that they only wanted me to have a termite inspection.

That makes no sense for several reasons. (1) The subcontractor is not a termite company. They had demanded the subcontractor complete FLOORING work. I brought in Orkin as an extra precaution. That is why I am NOT asking for the expensive Orkin service be reimbursed. (2) They lied claiming that they were going to remove the luwan wood anyway so the subcontractor repairs were not needed. They never said that. Again the general subcontractor doesn't do termite protection. Both calls made to me demanded that the subcontractor flooring work be completed before Empire Today would resume installation of the flooring. Now after doing all that was demanded of me Empire Today refuses to reimburse me for the unnecessary subcontractor work that THEY demanded previously.

The total for all my flooring was $6150. Yet Empire Today refuses to reimburse the $250 additional that they had previously demanded. English was obviously not the primary language of the Empire Today installer. So either dishonesty or miscommunication between the installer and management of Empire Today occurred. Either way I am owed $250. What a dishonorable and cheapskate way for a company to operate.

With popping and snapping problems still ongoing, other Empire reps came to review the problems... all agreed we had flooring problems but no one has resolved these problems.

We have even had service managers come to our residents, agree with the problems, take pictures etc, but no resolution in over four years. Where does the buck stop!? Some have suggested the wood floor material could be the problem and I have asked for them to be totally replaced... BUT, Empire doesn't offer this high-end laminate floor anymore. I wonder why!!?? We are senior citizens and on limited income and cannot afford to replace these floors. We believe Empire is still responsible for replacing these substandard floors.

I had an Empire rep come out late April and we scheduled work to be done 5 weeks later. The work included tile work, which they have very few capable installers, so that is why it was scheduled so far out. The Friday before my install was to occur, Empire called me to cancel due to covid-19 issues. We rescheduled AGAIN for two weeks later. As we came closer to the install date, Empire called again to cancel! At that point, I asked for a refund of my deposit. At the time I wasn’t really angry, but thought I could have more success with a local company. I was told it would take up to two weeks to have my deposit credited to my account. Funny, it took less than 20 minutes for them to take the money! I waited more than two weeks and noticed my account was not credited.

I called Empire and the first rep hung up on me. I called right back and got a much nicer rep who saw that I was correct and hadn’t been issued a refund. He called the regional office and issued “a ticket” for an investigation and assured someone would call within 24hrs. Guess what? No one called, so I called again. The next rep said that she left a voicemail for the person who was handling “the ticket” and that was all she could do. I have not heard from this unknown person, nor have I been refunded my deposit. Basically the company has stolen over $1100 from me.
