Empire Today has the best prices and the greatest selection, and they have a presence here in Colorado. So I said, “All right, let's go with them.” And sure enough, they gave us a good price on it. And the sales representative was very helpful, professional, and nice. The installers gave me a call before they were coming, which allowed me to be ready for them. They came on time, were very efficient and got the job done quickly. That was my concern, that it would drag out for days. They got it done in six hours. And they did a beautiful job. The flooring changed the whole look of the house. I love it a lot.

Empire Today came, made an estimation, and said they would take care of it. I got a call. We could have it installed the beginning of July. And then, it never got done until July 20th. The guys finally came that day and put it in. The guys that did the installation was just as good as I could expect. They worked hard. They took all the furniture out, they laid it down.

Today, I noticed that the place where the seam is started to unravel. Evidently, something went wrong. So, I called. I was on the phone for three hours. They kept on saying, "Don't worry, we'll get to you.” Three hours passed by. I threw the phone down. I'm 89 years old. I can’t take it anymore. It’s a long time. I just sat there. When I started the phone call over again, I got somebody who gave me a number and said somebody would give me a call. As far as trying to get some information with respect to when would we get a delivery date, a non-delivery date with this problem now, it's an impossible situation. They don't answer the phone. It has been a terrible experience.

I had floors and blinds installed in the living room and I was only disappointed with one thing. I was doing financing and when the installers came, they had no idea that that was the case, and so they wanted me to put a down payment down. I had to get on the phone and then I was on hold for a while. That was a big deal because I work from home and I had some important things going on at work and that took me away from what I needed to do. But it was resolved after a while and there were no problems with the installation. I like the job that they did especially the guy that installed my blinds. He looked at another blind just because I asked as I was having some problems with it. He was willing to do that during the time and that helped me out a lot. Just from that, I would recommend even the blinds to other people.

Empire Today replaced the carpet in my living room, dining room and master bedroom. Less than a year and a half later, the carpet was loose and bunching up. It was not installed properly, according to other carpet professionals. Empire scheduled a (fairly expensive) power stretching to resolve the problem. They have canceled at least four times, once without even a phone call. When I try to call them, no one answers, and no one responds to my messages. We moved our furniture out of the rooms in anticipation of the carpet repair, and have lived with this mess for over a month, while Empire bails out on appointment after appointment. Tried calling again today several times, and left messages, but I'm not expecting a call back. They don't really seem to care about the gigantic mess they've left us with. I'll have to hire some actual carpet professionals to come fix my carpet since Empire won't do it.

I had carpet in my dining room and hallway installed. However, my carpet is still messed up. It’s supposed to have been installed on August the 14th. Got a call saying that the person called off sick, so they wouldn't install it. Then they came to my house on Monday to install it. I called back and told Empire Today not to do Monday through Friday because I work, to reschedule on the 21st. But they still came to my house to install it. My mom is 82 years old. So I told her to tell them that they couldn’t install it and to not let them in because I didn't want anybody in there with her. They came out Saturday. I got a call at 4:00 that they would be there soon. There were three young gentlemen. They installed the carpet. When they left, everything looked okay. But the more we walked down the hall, the more it started bubbling. So I have waves in my hallway.

They said that they would have to come out, re-stretch and reseam it. Because I couldn't shut my bathroom door now because it's all bubbly, and the carpets that they seamed together is all pushed up. Also, they ended up putting a tack strip right there by my kitchen and dining room instead of taking the wood up. And there were several instances that we stepped on a tack strip. So I have reached out to people.

I just sent another email to this Wayne guy that had reached out to me, because I told them about it, and sent out a repair. And they told me it would be in three days, but that never happened so I called again. And they said they must have lost my repair sheet. So they redid it again. I got a call and it was supposed to be set up for September the 9th. But I got a call on September 2nd saying that they would be at my house. They have one job ahead of me. I said that was not what I was told. Also, “If they come, I need at least a half hour so I can go home. Because it's during the week, I work.” They came to my house without even calling. And the guy came in, looked at it and said, “I don’t have a seamer and a stretcher, so I'll be back.” I haven't heard from anybody.

My father had carpet put in with Empire Today and I saw the outcome of it. I gave them a chance because it was something that I wanted. Once the sales rep came out, he was very professional and patient with what I wanted here and with helping me with the colors and everything that I needed to get things done. The floors were good but the inconvenience was terrible.

I took half the day off because I was told that it was gonna be a four-to-five-hour job. I worked at home so when the driver got here, he had a time finding where I was. When he found out where I was, he informed me that his truck would not fit in the garage and he would need to send somebody else because his truck couldn't get in. I told him that there were other ways for him to get in but he chose not to do that. I had water damage in my house so my whole house has been reconstructed. So, for him to tell me that he couldn't come in and do my floors because he can't get in the garage didn't sit very well with me, especially with my time.

So, Empire Today sent someone else out two hours later. He had a pickup truck and he was able to come in but I'm trying to figure out why he wasn't able to accommodate me at 8 o'clock that morning. Because when he came, he didn't leave till it was almost 6:00. It was one person and he did do a lot, and he did a good job. But the thing was, I work for FedEx and when he was in there working, I was dispatched and trying to do my job. So, it was a mess. Timing is so critical. I work with FedEx and everybody, once they phone, have medications and everything on time. If they're not able to accommodate, we’re gonna call ahead of time. We’re not gonna come to your house and say we can't deliver your package because we can't get in. That's not how it works.

I had Empire Today do a sitting area in our dining room that needed carpeting. Scheduling was fine except we were supposed to have it on a Tuesday. They called Monday at 4:45 and said they couldn't make it the next day. I tried to get in touch with customer service. I got nothing that day and the next day. On the third day, I finally got a head of the customer service and got his direct number. It had been rescheduled for Saturday. I had cleared my schedule from the week before, so I was not happy at that time.

The people that did the installation were great and prompt, but getting ahold of the customer service was terrible. I went through several different ways through the installation, through regular customer service, and all their lines and voicemails were filled. Nobody was picking up. Other than that, I would recommend Empire, but I'd make people very aware of trying to get ahold of customer service. But as far as the quality and the people that did the work, they were excellent.

I had three different companies come out to give me estimates, and they were all in the same price range, but the samples that were brought in from Empire seemed like a little bit higher grade of carpet. I thought it was weird, though, that when the installers came, I had to pay first, but they didn't have a way to just swipe my credit card. They had to call it in, and they were on hold with their own company for about 40 minutes. They couldn't start till the job was paid for, too, so they were just standing around on hold. In today's world, I thought that was kind of ridiculous. But other than that, they did really great work. Once they got the okie doke to move forward, they really worked. I was amazed how quickly they were done. I watched them. They didn't cut any corners.

It's a shame that every day, I get, “Guess what's on sale at Empire Today!” I'm like, “Man, I just bought carpet.” It's a little bit annoying that they make the customer take that extra step to unsubscribe from their daily emails that you didn't really ask for to begin with. You just gave them your email because you were their customer. It is a concern of mine that I don't get blown up with, “How's your experience with Empire?” Eventually, it's going to be, “It was great until they keep pestering me about it.”

The other thing is some of the scheduling was weird as far as trying to get in touch with them on the day that my installation was scheduled. My installers were running late and when I tried calling them, I was just on hold. They had a, “Do you want us to hold your place in line and call you back,” thing, and I said, “Sure.” They never did call me back. The installers got here and hours had gone by already. Empire could update their automated system that was probably cutting edge 10 years ago but is a little wonky right now. Overall, doing business with Empire was pretty good. All the people were great. The salespeople were knowledgeable and friendly. The workmanship and the quality of the product are great. It was just the technology side that needs to be fixed.

Do not do business with EMPIRE FLOORING! Shane the salesperson is a liar. He completely ignored all of my calls after I paid the deposit. They sent 2 different groups of installers to my home. The first group left after simply saying that the job was too hard and they did not want to do the work. After finally contacting the install supervisor, I was scheduled for another install date. The installers arrived today and provided multiple excuses as to why they could not do the work. They stated the contract was not filled out correctly and it may cost more if they mess up my sub flooring. I provided a copy of my invoice stating the exact opposite of what he said. He then instructed me to contact my salesperson to have an updated quote. The office is not opened on Saturday, so I am without flooring again. Salesperson has not responded to any of my messages or calls. They will not give me the supervisor's contact information. Very unprofessional.

So, the installers were surprised about that, but they still did it. I felt bad that they weren't given a heads up for that. I spoke with the sales guy over and over about the removal. Updated on 04/23/2022: This is and update to my previous review of this company and problems with the kitchen flooring that they installed in August of 2020. Within 6 months of installation I had problems with several areas that had to be replaced. It took weeks to get them out to do so under warranty. Five Months later some of the same area that they replaced had to be repaired again and it took them 3 months to come out. The installer replace about 20 square feet of flooring with with flooring that was the same color but with a duller finish. I didn't notice the difference until after the installation was complete and when I called to report the problem I had to leave a message and my call was never returned.

When their sales people called to try to sell me again I told them I would never do business with them again because of all the problems. The contact in the sales department reported my comments to someone who called me back a few days later and told me they never new there was a problem with the repair and since it was now out of warranty they would not do anything about it. Their warranty department totally ignored my first report of problems and never contacted me on the first repair until I posted a complaint of ConsumerAffairs in 2021.

Original Review: We installed their deluxe vinyl plank flooring in our kitchen a year ago and it looked great for a couple of months. We had to have a section replaced after it started to come apart and that took us weeks to get through to their warranty dept. and schedule repair. The crew chief who came out to replace the bad section said it was never installed properly to begin with. It has now been a year and the planks are separating and lifting up in several areas.

They were supposed to come out to inspect and repair it last week and were a complete no-show after we waited all day for them. We got a call from one of the workers the next day who wanted to come out but we were not going to be home. He said he would be out by 8:30am this morning and it's 1pm and still no contact of any kind. I think the product and the installation were defective from the beginning. You cannot believe anything they tell you related to appointments and repair. Customer service after installation is pretty much non-existent.

I had Empire Today install luxury vinyl plank on concrete in a bathroom/closet area in the basement. The installation is ok, but in all honesty, a DIYer could do just as well, if not better. I was also going to have quarter-round baseboard put in the closet, I figured it's just a closet, but the installer didn't want to, said it wouldn't work well with the product being installed. He said they are allowed to install with up to a half-inch gap between the vinyl planks and the wall. Good to find this out the day of the install! Why offer it to me if it's not going to work!

Anyway, the install was adequate. I did need access to a clean out for the basement drainage system in the closet. The hole the installer cut out does not line up with the drain (frankly, if I did the install myself, it would have). At least it's in the closet and people won't be looking at it. I also was told by the salesperson they would leave behind the leftover planks when done install. This was a selling point because we have had flooding in the basement in the past, and it would be good to have some extra planks in case the others become damaged. Never happened. Feel mislead on this, and my communications with Empire Today make it clear they don't care.

By the time they gave me the estimate, which was nothing like in my head I thought it would be, I called Empire. It was one of those things where I said, “Okay. I need to do something else.” I had a time frame to do it. I had already waited for a few weeks, so I had to get it done. And their salesperson was able to put it together. The customer service was fast.

They came on Wednesday. By Saturday, they were doing my floors. And they look pretty good. The guys stayed until almost 11 o'clock at night to finish. I appreciated that. It took a lot longer to install it that day, so there were a couple of things that they missed. There was a small closet. There was a piece of a couple of feet by a couple of feet. But they said that they didn't have enough wood to finish. I sent an email, and I thought somebody would call me back. Other than that, the timing was good.

I initially set things up for the sales call for my mom in Toledo and I made arrangements to meet down there. I live in Detroit and we went with Empire, so somebody will come out and make it easy. The sale went good. We signed, paid, then scheduled for three weeks out. When I didn't hear from them by Thursday for the next day install, I got ahold of somebody. I got through on the phone system then somebody finally called me back and explained that the rep wrote my phone number down wrong. Missed a digit.

Empire told me that they've been trying to get ahold of me, and because they couldn't, they canceled the install. When I set up for the sales call, every other day, I was getting an email, a text, and a phone message. They worked on me constantly to make sure that I kept the sales appointment, but when it came time for the install, they tried the number twice, and that was it. Never emailed. Nothing, so I got upset.

The rep who called me back was just doing his job. He didn't know what was going on and couldn't help me out much. I was going down the night before, and I'd already canceled a hotel stay that I lost. I set up a new time with this rep for the install. I did it on a Saturday, and he could not email me or give me any kind of a confirmation that I had a set appointment. He just said, “I will keep calling back and make sure that it's really there.”

The phone system is horrible. I left one message, and they called me back. They confirmed. This was two weeks out then I sent an email the next week, and they said, “Yup, you're scheduled.” Then I saw that they tried calling me the week of, and they left a 20-second message, but there was nothing there. I never know what number they're coming in on, and the one time I answered the call, there wasn't anybody there. It was just blank then I saw that it was the same number that they left a message. I called the number back 30 times that day, and I would get almost to the end of the spiel, and it would cut me off. That was on a Tuesday, and I was getting installed on Saturday.

On Wednesday morning, I called early (before 9:00), but I only got through to leave a message. Somebody called back five minutes later, and we set it all up, confirmed it all and I was all set. I was still hesitant because I was getting a room and traveling again. I got to Detroit on the Friday and they said, “Somebody will call you Saturday morning and tell you what's going on.” At 7:30, I got the automated call. “Your carpet has been loaded on the truck. There's one stop in front of you, then they'll be there.” One o'clock came and nothing. I called Empire Today, then they called the installer and said, “He'll be there within the hour.” It was two o'clock when the installer showed up and I was his third stop. There couldn't have been one stop ahead of me at 7:30 in the morning when I got that call.

The installer didn't have a helper, and he's worked the whole day by himself. He walked in and said, “Oh. I didn't know that there was furniture to move.” Luckily, I was there because I don't think my 82-year-old mother could have helped much moving furniture. The installer was put off that he had to move furniture, and it was just four pieces. I had everything else moved, and one piece wasn't going back in. I said, “I'll help you with it.” He said, “Okay,” then he said, “I’m not even sure I have enough carpet on my truck.” He was doing two rooms and a hallway. I was like, “Are you serious? We're gonna go through all this.”

Half an hour later, after he measured the house and then checked his carpet and rolled it out, he said, “I've got enough. Yup. I can do it.” He was there five hours and he was supposed to have done some transition trims, but he wanted to use the old ones. I said, “I was either way with the salesman. It didn't really matter. But it did kind of matter.” I said, “If you can at least change that one from gold to silver, I'll let the other ones go.” We did that. He changed one, and he left at 7:00. He was a nice guy, and he did a great job, but I would not use Empire Today again.

I was a contractor, and I just closed my business last October. I have referred so many people to Empire and had so many people use them. They all haven't been smooth, but they all told me they were okay and they were happy with the product. However, this was a horrible experience for me. I've talked to several of my customers since this ordeal and I said, “Hey, I gave you Empire. What was your experience?” Their biggest problem was they couldn't get ahold of anybody on the phone after the sale.

We had a nice light gray vinyl flooring installed for an apartment I was managing. I started out with Home Depot and they gave me a quotation on the whole business, which included removing the old floor. Underneath the old floor was rippling in the cement, and they said that they couldn't do the installation of the material that they had bid on, on that type of floor, without having the whole floor renovated. I told them, “You're not able to fulfill your contract, so I want a refund,” which they gave me. I then sought out Empire Today. It was a nice presentation and the lady that came out was also very knowledgeable.

Empire had a better way of solving the problem. They had to deal a little with the rippling in the bottom floor, the underlayment, but it was satisfactory and didn’t result in any bubbling in the flooring. There were always stuff that they had to come back and do that maybe they could have done with another half an hour on one day, but outside of that, we were very pleased with the installation and the workers and even with the price.

Empire's salesman was the best. He was knowledgeable and very personable. He brought the right sample, measured and did a fantastic job. He was in and out with a closed sale within 20 minutes. The installers then came in, moved the couch and installed the carpet. They came right to the baseboard, and they were quick. They made sure everything was okay before they left, then they were gone. I like the carpet, but I wish they would have gone a bit farther on one doorway. The carpet is under the basement door, and I didn't notice that they didn't go all the way to the piece of metal. Now, when you go down to the basement, there's a 2” gap of hardwood between the carpet and the piece of metal that is the first stair. All in all though, it's fine. I wasn't in the room to see the final and I take responsibility for not inspecting it.

When we had a problem where we had some sort of special carpet that if something happened to it, they will replace it, and they replaced it and also replaced the adjoining room so it matched. When we had our carpets replaced on July 1st, the installers broke our desk. I called customer service and talked to them that day. Two weeks later, I called them. They finally called me back about two weeks ago and the girl said, “Hey, I'm sorry it took me so long. I'm new.” She asked if I could send her pictures or a video. So I sent her a video that day. We also sent it a week later. But we have received nothing.

We had a good experience with Empire Today. Everything went great. The price and the available dates to do the install helped. It was an earlier date. The sales rep that we dealt with was great. He was very knowledgeable and patient. He was friendly too. The installers were great as well. They were very efficient. They looked good in timely fashion and they cleaned up. We got a vinyl product, like a wood floor style. But it threw me a little bit when I was signing off on the terms of the financing with the installers. I wasn’t expecting to do that. If I had a question about that, I don't really think the installer would have been able to really clarify anything. So to me that should have been done ahead of time. Empire could have explained that a little more clearly because they gave me an option to do two different kinds of financing. But it ended up being a non-issue.

In my bedroom, I can see the definite distinction. It's got a grain to it, so it looks like the installers may have flipped it and didn't lay it all the same direction. It also looks like it's coming up on my stairway. I haven't really looked at it, but I can see it when I come up the stairs in my basement and it looks a little sloppy. I'm gonna call and tell Empire, but I'm slammed at work, and I haven't had time to look it up. I purchased what I wanted. Empire Today had it. They did the entryway to my front door, kitchen, and bathroom. It's all vinyl planking. The reason that I installed it is I was gonna sell my house. For the estimate, the rep came right over, it was quick. And it was only two weeks out, which I thought was good. I was happy with that part of it. And the entryway and the kitchen were done good. But they did a rotten job on the bathroom. You feel it when you walk. It pushes down and it's uneven.

I thought they just put new subflooring down if it was bad. The bathroom had carpet. I didn't know what it looked like underneath. I figure once they pull the carpet up, they do it right. No matter if it took a couple of days. Instead they used the leveling which works good. But it has to be wet so it runs. They made like a cement. They put it on with a trowel. They were in a hurry. It was a Friday afternoon job. And it's just terrible walking that bathroom on. I'll probably lose money from that deal. But I'm happy with everything else. It looks nice.

We ordered flooring from Empire on April the 1st. We were told it would be in and when our install date would be. My husband and I took the week off and we loaded up our rooms. We got multiple rooms done so everything ended in a closet. A day and a half prior to the installation, a lady called and said the crew was not coming that day. The product we ordered didn't come in. When asked when it would be there, the lady didn't know but someone would be in touch with me. I constantly contacted the scheduling agent and she said kept saying she didn't know when the flooring would be coming.

All of a sudden, we got woken up 10 minutes before 7:00. The floor crew was at my house and they started coming in. We didn't have time to prepare and to put our pets up because no one called to tell us they would be coming. I had talked to the lady the day before this. I called to speak to her again. What happened was a big surprise. I would have been up, had a shower, and been ready if I had known the crew was coming. The lady basically said, “Too bad. It's your own fault if you weren't ready." And when I couldn't find my cat for hours, she said that was my fault.

That lady would be the reason I would never do business with the Empire again because she was rude and mean. She marred my experience with the company. On the whole, I had a great salesperson and the flooring crew did well. They did the work for multiple rooms in one day. But it would’ve been better if I had known they were coming. We sat outside for six hours on this awful day with two dogs.

Then, when the project is done, if you have any problems with it, they CANNOT BE REACHED either by phone (endless wait times) or live CHAT, which is NEVER available - they are totally MIA. I feel abandoned totally by them for their substandard product, total lack of customer service and being overpriced, despite misleading (actually lying) to me about the product I bought being on sale. Avoid using this company at all costs. You are better off leaving your flooring the way it is than using them, plus there are many better alternate choices.

I didn't have a real good experience at all with Empire. It was a headache. When I got my call to say that it was going to be installed, they couldn't tell me what time that they were going to come. So, I thought that was strange. I understand you get a window, but they didn't even give me that. But no big deal because it was 8 o'clock in the morning when I got the call. I was thinking around a couple of hours, they’d put me in a window. To the point that it was 3 o'clock and I never got a call. It was getting late. I called the number that was on there. They had to try to find whoever is supposed to give me a window to do it. They told me that it'd be at 3:30, which was 3:30 when I was talking to somebody. So, I went along with that. Came 5 o'clock, no one ever called.

I called the number back. Then, the guy said that he couldn't do it today, that they'd do it first thing in the morning at 8 o'clock. We were talking on a Saturday. I thought that was strange. No one works on Sundays. But I was happy that they were gonna do it on a Sunday, so I went with it. Came Sunday, there was no call, no show. It was getting really hot then. I ended up having to take a day off, which I didn't have.

I called the guy Monday and they brushed it off. I knew it was a weekday, so I said, “I'm calling Empire myself.” I called and the guy came to the phone and told me somebody’s going to be out there today. I was going, “Oh good. Okay.” Eventually, they came that Monday and they installed it. But nevertheless, I was glad to get it over with. But I didn't like that experience.

When they found out that their people didn't leave a good impression, I expected Empire to call me and at least apologize for their installers’ mistake. I gave them a deposit. But before they even laid it down, they had their hand out for their money. I thought that was rude. You want your money upfront, but I couldn't get my service upfront and I didn't get an apology for them whatsoever. But I got my carpet, and my carpet and looks good.

The sales rep came to our house and was able to give us a quote and put the order. His spiel was good and his information was great. He pointed out some things and said, "You're selling the house. I recommend this kind of carpet.” We appreciated that because sometimes, when you're in the midst of selling, you don't know. But in the midst of the order, he did not put the full order. We ended up waiting. I got a call, and they said that the only order that we had was a little bit of a tile that we put in. It was just the entrance of our door. When we called, they said that he never put the carpeting order.

When the carpet came in, they did the job pretty quick but it was not the quality that I was expecting. I never called Empire Today back because I'm extremely frustrated with the fact that if I call, will they come and fix it? There are parts where we can still feel the nails. My husband and I had been going in corners and hitting a nail with a hammer, fixing it like that. But you can tell that it was a dollar store carpet. It literally feels like hardwood. The padding isn't thick enough. I didn't fully understand that it was going to be that low of a grade. The fact that I can feel into my feet, I hope that that's not a factor that stops us from selling the house.

The customer service was awful. It was very hard to deal with the whole situation. I would like them getting a little bit more training. When we called, the lady that talked to us was not helpful at all. I work for a company that often, my boss will say if you don't know the answer, say, “Let me figure it out for you. I'll get back to you.” It comforts the customer and makes them feel that you are gonna take care of their needs. But she wasn't like that. I will not probably hire Empire Today anymore.

However, two days before the tile guy was due to come, I received a call from Empire saying that they didn't have a tile guy so that was canceled.

For the carpet installation, a first guy came out and the carpet that I purchased was almost white so he took off his shoes and respected the lay of the carpet. But he left and another team came. They brought their shoes and stuff and were stepping on the carpet. I had to kind of work with them through that. Then, when they were moving the bed, I tried to tell them how the bed was laid out. But when the guy pulled it, he broke one of the poles under it. Also, their family member came with them and she was just sitting there and standing on the carpet. It was not what I had expected during the second half of the installation. It was not as astute to how you go into people's homes. But the carpet was done well.

I had carpet installed in the bedrooms and the hallway. The rep was very good and the installation went well. There was a couple of confusion on things though. The installers told me that they would be out first thing in the morning but nobody came. So, I called the salesperson. I didn't get through to him right away so I called Empire themselves and they said that they were on another job and they would be there after. I waited and waited for a while and I finally got ahold of the salesman. He texted me and said he would check but he couldn't get through to anybody so I called again. The sales person said the installers were stuck on the job. They would have to reschedule. We went back and forth for a little while and finally, somebody ended up showing up late in the day. They were there until 9:00 o'clock at night but they finished.

The only thing that I didn't care for was instead of them moving something out of one room and then doing the room, they totally took everything and stuffed it in my living room so I had no place to go. I sat in my back area, which is like a screen room and it was chilly that night. I had to put a heater back there. But other than that, it was good and they were good.

I noticed a couple of days later that the carpet wasn't totally put against the wall on one of the back rooms but it wasn’t that big of a deal. Also, they had my front door open the whole the whole time, which I didn't care too much because I was in the back and I had my dog in the back. But when they started moving furniture back in, they left the door open. My dog ran out the front door so I had to yell to my dog to get back, which luckily, she did, because normally, she doesn't. Maybe she was more interested in them, wanting to see where they were. Otherwise, she would have been gone and I would have to chase her around the neighborhood. But that was just a couple of little things. Overall, it was fine. I like the durability of the carpet that I got for the back rooms where the kids are and the hallway and in my room. I upgraded the carpet so it's plush and nice.

It was finally installed and I think the carpet was in the whole time but they didn't have their act together to get it installed in the timeframe that was promised.

If you go with Empire Today, you might save a few dollars. But the installation is wide open and it's not fair. People who want to save a few bucks can certainly wait home but I don’t want to have that much disruption to save a few dollars. The number of different stories I was being told were awful. They changed the story every hour. They could have communicated better and told the truth. I don't know if I want to recommend them, with the trouble I had. But the salesman was great as well as the installers. It’s the customer service giving us false information.

I decided to give Empire 2 stars because the sales rep was AWESOME as was 1 of our installers. So, we started the project on July 5th with the goal of completing 3 areas of our home with 2 different materials (wood and ceramic). We started with the wood and initially it was going well and then 2 days in, the contractors are running behind because of not enough workers and overbooking. Initially not a big deal because the sales rep advised us of the shortage in workers due to the pandemic.

He needed to level out the space and quoted one price but later changed it; however, the loft was completed. Few things happened, the contractor for some unknown reason removed materials from our home, when we asked him about it he said he was trying to "clear up space for us" but left the other materials in the same area and then when he returned, the packages looked different but I didn't have any evidence to prove that they were different.

The contractor sent us a text stating he had issues with his truck and will be over as soon as he could, 8 hours later, no show. I called 5 times to customer service and they were confused. Now that, he is behind on his installation, they pushed back the install on my Kitchen. when the installer finally comes to finish the work he spent 4 hours at my home working on 1 stair and reports that he does not have the correct materials and when he called Empire they told him to just "nail it in" to get the job done but he didn't want to do that because that would be wrong. I finally hear from someone who said they would go ahead and order the new parts and get it done ASAP. At this point I think I have left 10 messages with little to no response.

Finally after a week of waiting we received an call notifying us of an installation on Friday (today), we called because it did not have a time frame and were advised to call on Friday morning to verify the time. After being on hold for 35 minutes, they called me back to say that they still don't have the part and are not sure why we were told of an installation for today. Now, they are affecting my money and my time because I rearranged my schedule for the 2nd time to make sure I was available today.

I have left 2 more messages and called 2 more times only to be told (this is my interpretation) That sucks, good luck, suck it up and wait, there is nothing we can do and we'll get to you at some point. In 5 days they will be out of compliance with the contract that I signed. So yeah. DO NOT USE EMPIRE. PAY THE EXTRA MONEY AND HAVE SOMEONE ELSE DO THE WORK.

I used Empire once before to install carpet in my master closet. Small, easy job. They did well, so when we moved I hired them to replace all the upstairs carpets in our new home. They came as scheduled the first time. Installers worked all day and didn't leave until almost 11 pm. I noted on the paperwork that the seams were all visible and that they would need to be fixed.

The next day the installer returned. He said now that it was light out it was clear the company had sent him with rolls of carpet that don't match. Instead of a single roll from a single line, they were rolls with slightly different color, texture, pile height and density. The company said they could reorder the carpet and have them replaced. I said I wanted that done.

They delayed 3 times. The first time was because of rain. The second was because their installer didn't show up. I was pretty upset by this time because we were trying to move in and the entire time we're waiting for the carpets I can't set up bookcases or assemble my daughter's beds or order furniture. We spent two weeks on hold. The third time they simply didn't show up, no call, no excuse.

An installer finally came the following Thursday. We were incredibly relieved, and took him through to explain the situation and why the replacement was needed. He tore out all the carpet, started to put in the new carpets, and when he got to the first seam he told us the carpets were, again, mismatched. I called the local contact and asked what was going on, and she said, "I can request they send a single roll when I order the carpet, but I don't have any control over what they send." She said she could order the carpets again, but there was no guarantee they would send a single roll. I said that was unacceptable. Obviously they can't just install mismatched carpets, and keep reordering in the hopes that eventually they will get what they requested. It's absurd.

We discussed our options with the installer, and he said that he could talk to his manager, that they should be able to order the carpet that day (a single roll, he said the upstairs could be done with one roll so it would all match), and that if they ordered it right away it would get there Friday and they could install it Saturday. We said that would be great. So they left without installing the rest of the carpets, because they would just have to tear them out on Saturday.

In this entire experience, this installer was the only one who has exhibited any concern for our needs and made any effort to provide us with the service we expected when we hired Empire Today. He knew the concern, he recognized right away that there was a problem with the carpets Empire ordered, and instead of mindlessly installing carpets he knew wouldn't satisfy us, he tried to work with us to find a solution that would make everyone happy. I'm so disappointed that Empire didn't follow through or show anything near the same concern as the installer they hired.

So they left on Thursday, with the expectation that the carpets would be ordered and installed on Saturday, and nothing happened. We were told the manager would call Friday. He didn't. The woman at the local office said the marketing manager would call me on Monday. He didn't. We started calling the local office on Monday and have received no answer, no call back. I started calling Empire's main office on Monday (July 26th). As with everyone else, each time I waited on hold for over an hour, was told they would try to get ahold of the local office, couldn't get ahold of the local office, would make a ticket, and then promised a call back. On Tuesday I explained that there are dozens of feet of exposed tack boards, literally hundreds of nails sticking up, with five kids in the house. My daughters have been sleeping on the floors for weeks.

All the upstairs furniture is packed into our master bedroom or the girl's bathroom. I can't walk to my bed. The girls can't walk through their bathroom. The doors are all still off their frames. On Wed I explained that they are exposing themselves to a lawsuit, leaving the nails exposed and doing nothing to remedy the situation. Each day I was told that I would receive a call back the next day. They said since there was a safety concern it would be dealt with quickly. And yet, not a word.

We have now been in this dangerous, unfinished state for a solid week. Not one employee from any office having anything to do with Empire has made any effort to reach out to us, despite the obvious urgency and the potentially disastrous ramifications if one of us were to be injured. They can claim to be concerned about our situations and say this doesn't meet their standards and promise to reach out soon. It's meaningless unless someone actually does something.

We got approved for financing and we got all that worked out when the guy that gave us our estimate came here. He held his little tablet out and I told him what day would have worked best for the installation. I saw him mark the day for us to get the flooring put in. Come to find out, it was the day of, and I called the scheduling department to find out what time that day they were coming because it was getting to be about noon. The rep got my name and said, "I don't see you guys on the schedule for today." Both my mother and I took off work that day for them to come do the floor. She apologized but they could tell we were upset so they ended up putting us in for that next day.

They had asked us what we wanted to do with our hallway because in our hallway, we had a vent in the floor. My mother and I told them, "We already talked to the guy who came to do the financing and estimate, and we explained this to him. He said that you guys bring all the supplies to do that kind of stuff, if there was more that was needed or a floorboard needed nailed down.” They all looked at us and said, "We don't do that. We strictly just come and put the floor in." My mom had to go buy another piece from Lowe's to bring home and to give them to use to do our hallway so they can do the flooring. That was another thing that was miscommunicated to us. The guy communicated nothing to the installers. From everything he said, the only thing he did right was show us the flooring and we picked out which one we wanted. Everything else, as far as information, scheduling and even what was needed to be done was completely opposite.

The quality of the work when it was done was good. However, I've been trying to get ahold of someone for almost four months now. I called to get someone to come out here to fix a piece of wood that snagged. But to get someone to come out here is a joke. Empire Today kept calling me and leaving me voicemails. I told them, "I don't know why you keep calling my cellphone. You need to call my mom's cellphone." I gave them her number numerous times but they still proceeded to call my cellphone. It wasn't even a real person because then I would call the number right back, literally seconds after they called me, and I will get straight to voicemail. I'm not happy. It's crazy. I have to go through these obstacles to get someone to come out and look at one piece of flooring.

And then, they had to do it for me. I was a little disappointed by that but they did make it right and got somebody out.

I love the carpet I had installed. But, I noticed I could see the seems going from my living room to the hallway and from the hallway to my bedroom and I was concerned about that. I didn't think that for four grand, I should be able to see the seems. The rep came and verified that something was wrong and that there would be an appointment made. We were doing the wood vinyl laminate, the wood plank laminate and the carpet. We had a timeframe in mind because we were remodeling our house and that was the last step. So, we had six weeks out as the timeframe for installation and because it was so far out, there was no issue with it.

Years ago, we had some water damage and Empire Today was who we went with. When I decided to put down another floor in the kitchen, I said, “Well, I'll just go with Empire.” But they had different salesman and different workers than what we had had several years before which I had a bad experience with Empire. Before my husband passed away, he tried to get Empire to come out and replace the floor because it came up. It cost 2,500 to put the floor down. I didn't care for the people they sent. Empire has a habit of hiring people who cannot speak English. I didn't know if they could read English or not.

I had bought and paid for an underlayment which was supposed to have been a subfloor to go under the stuff I had put down. The first guy that put the flooring down said I didn't need it. They left it at the company and they wouldn't go back and get it. They didn't do anything that they were supposed to that was written on the contract.

The flooring came up within the first 30 days. I had to tape it down. I stayed on Empire and I didn't let the issue drop because I knew they had to stand behind their product. Their manager told me she would have to get an okay from the manufacturer. I said that I didn't buy the floor from the manufacturer and I bought it from Empire. Empire started sending people and each one of them tore a piece of the flooring up even though I had others coming up. All of them said the same thing but they dragged their feet. When I called them the last time, I told the manager that she should make sure that whoever they send to my house could understand what I'm saying and that I didn't want any more of that, that they don't speak English.

Finally, the manager sent techs out to replace my floor. One of the techs Empire sent could speak fairly good English and he did mostly what he was supposed to do. He tore the floor all the way down to the board like the way the other guys were supposed to have done it when it was first put down and gutted. If I was going to put down some carpet, I'd probably call Empire. They came through and that's what matters.

This July, we di another room and there wasn’t any problem with Empire or any of their workers or the installation but there was a delay in the flooring and I had to wait a long time to get it. They kept making a date and said they were gonna come in two weeks and that they were gonna get another shipment. The shipments never came in and when I switched to a different flooring just to get it, that was out too. So I wound up picking a third flooring. So, it wasn't their fault. Empire didn’t get their delivery so they couldn’t deliver to me. That was a fiasco but we’re all done now and it has all been taken care of. The sales rep was good and our flooring and installation happened quickly. Unfortunately, the installers laid the vinyl over the hole by my gas fireplace where you insert the key to turn on the gas for the fireplace. We contacted Empire Customer Service right away. I was even told by one rep that at least it is warm weather and I don’t need to use the fireplace right now. After 2 months of phone calls to Customer Service and a threat to file a complaint with the State Attorney General Consumer Protection, an installer called at 7:00 pm to say he was on his way to make the repair. Because we know generally where the hole was, the installer tried to drill thru the vinyl to find it. Unfortunately, that didn’t work. Therefore, he had to pull up that piece of flooring and attempt to install a new piece with the hole for the fireplace.

Since my house is an open floor plan and the fireplace is in the middle of the open area, he was not successful in inserting a new piece of flooring and indicated that a large part of my floor would need to be replaced. We also had one seam in my kitchen that was not good. We again called customer service and were told they were going to send someone out again. The original installer then came out, pulled up several pieces of my flooring and repaired the issues. What I hate about the flooring is they use a rubber mallet to beat the floor to move it. I have mallet marks on the floor that I haven’t been able to remove. We did an internet search on how to clean up those marks but nothing has worked. Consequently, when you look across my floor, it looks like something has been spilled on the floor. I would not consider Empire for any future flooring needs.

I rented a with acrylic covered cement floors. I don’t like the floors and decided to carpet the living room. I knew I do this using “taped carpeting.” I contacted Empire Carpeting and they had a Jeff **; a Sales Representative contact me right away. Jeff and I spoke about the colors I wanted to view, the fact is I was renting and the carpet had to be “taped carpeting.” Jeff assured me this was no problem and we schedule an appointment for him to come over the following day.

Jeff arrived with carpet samples, he took measurements of my floor and we talked about the various things. There were two colors I wanted to think about, so I took pictures of them and told him I would get back with him. Two days later, Jeff came over to finalize my order. I gave him a deposit of $818.22 and was told I would have to wait 3 weeks for the carpet to arrive and be installed. It was an easy transaction; Jeff was a great salesman.

The day before my carpet was to be installed, I had not heard from Empire, so I phoned them. Their recorded message stated I had a 27-minute wait before speaking to anyone, however, I could try the “On Line Chat,” it was usually faster. I stayed on hold, but grabbed my computer and pulled up the “On Line Chat.” It read; “Unfortunately, there are no agents currently available.” I had to laugh; this was during their scheduled business hours. The exact time was 3:07pm, I took a picture and still have it for proof.

I waited a total of 40-minutes to speak to an Empire representative. Susan was difficult to understand, yet I had no trouble hearing her dog and bird in the background. After repeating myself numerable times, she was able to confirm that I was still on the schedule to have my carpet installed the next day and someone would phone in the morning to let me know what time to expect them. As stated by Susan, I did receive a phone call in the morning and was given a 2-hour window of when to expect the carpet installers. When they arrived, they were very polite, but the only English-speaking installer had to collect the balance of $817.65 before any work could be started.

Once the payment was made, the installer began explaining how the carpet would be installed. It was clear they were going to tack the carpet down and I ordered taped carpet. I explained this to him and it was evident this could not be done with the carpet he brought. He called the Sales Representative and Jeff ** said; “It seems I’ve made a mistake. You can still get the taped carpeting if you want, but it is going to cost more and we will have to order it.” I told Jeff I was not happy, he knew what I wanted, this was HIS error and I wanted the problem resolved now. He told me he would have to call the office and someone would get in touch with me.

30 – 60 – 90 minutes went by and I had not heard from anyone. I sent a text to Jeff ** to ask what was going on. He responded; “My Sales Manager and Marketing Manager are trying to work out something for you, he will be in touch with you though.” I respond; “Someone should have contacted me ASAP to let me know what is going on. This is not a way to keep a customer.” I received No response from Jeff.

Another 90 minutes passed and I had not heard from anyone so I called the office. I finally reached Sales Manager, Sonny **. In a very dismissive manner, he told me they were trying to find a way to use the carpeting I had already purchased and tape it down. However, I could still order the taped carpeting, but it will cost more and I would have to wait for the order. At no point did Sonny ** offer a discount or any form of compensation for the error made by Jeff **.

I told Sonny ** that at this point I was so disappointed with the way I have been treated, I would prefer they cancel my order and refund my money. He replied; “Fine!” He did nothing to try and keep me as a customer. I asked that he email a copy of the cancelled receipt and a copy of the refund request. It has been 5 business days and I still have not received a copy of the requested forms. This is a horrible way to treat a customer. Personally, I feel my entire purchase was a “Bait & Switch” scam. Jeff ** and Sonny ** were not concerned with the error that had been made, but repeatedly emphasized how I could purchase the “Taped Carpet, noting it would cost more.” As a result of my personal experience, I would not recommend Empire.

I never received that call! I called again, waited 95 min on the phone and that person took my information again, made me feel a little better but again I never received a call. So, my wife has been calling as well and she said she reach someone who would come out Wednesday July 21. Never came and never called. She call back. They said they were short help. My wife said she understood but at the very least she should have gotten a call so she call again and they give her a number to MS. ** who also cannot be reached.

I left several voice mail just asking for a return call. So now we both call trying to just get the work finished. Now the job been paid in full and they would not start the work until it was, I just like the job completed. Well since then I call customer service and I did not know that customer has a voice mail where you can leave a message. Not helpful if no one ever returns the call. Today is the 24 of July and we still have not been able to speak with a customer service rep to finish our job. Will not use them for the rest of the house.

They cleaned the floor and then started installing new laminated wood. They properly continued it and were done. Then, cleaned it out afterward. They did a good job. I'm satisfied. We liked Empire Today's half off purchase deal that was going on. I love our new flooring. Once we got the right crew out here, the installation was good. The first crew that came out to do the tilework did not speak English. They were not doing what the consultant told us they were going to do, and they walked off the job. But the next crew was wonderful.

Sales contract is not itemized which is problematic when you’re quoted for a bunch of plywood to level your floor and it’s not used to level the floor. The contract has clauses that it does not matter what your verbal agreement is the salesman is not required to tell you the truth. And when it comes time to refund or not refund money instead of explaining the situation the salesman decides his job is done and ignores you. The installer was great and quick. Just wouldn’t give them another penny because the paper pushers seem less than honest

Everything was good with Empire. The sales rep was good and very relaxed too. I don't like being oversold. He was a nice guy. I like the product and the installation was good. The only thing I wish that we could have installed when we were doing the installation was those metal strips between the tile and the carpet itself. But besides that, everything else was fine. The installers were good guys. The quality is good. But it's a little bit more expensive compared to the competitors. But then, it's one of those things where I didn't want to wait around and I wanted something for sure. So that was why I paid a little bit more.

So far, our experience with Empire was positive. They did well on the upfront sale. However, when I had a question about the installation, that was a little bit more of a challenge, and that took them over a week to get back to me. I had Kim, the representative from Empire, come over. She and I had to make several smaller adjustments to the plan. She was very accommodating to that. Then we went ahead and had the installers come in. They did a good job of demonstrating that they were very competent at what they were doing.

But there would have been some clarity I could have used on the stair install. When they installed the stairs, I did not have a good understanding of the product I was going to be getting or how it was going to look before. Because the stairs have different options that they can go with. The main problem I had was with the stairs, you could see nail pops come through. So that was the one area that could be done better and that's the area that I was the least happy with. Because, at the end of the day, after the stairs were installed, it was all new to me. Expectations have not been managed.

I had been negotiating with Empire for a month and finally got the price I wanted for the items discussed. This included a product called LUAN to level out the floors (a hard board of some type) so I signed the contract on Friday late afternoon. The sales rep said he would send me the amendment for the Luan. What I received was an amendment for carpeting which took the price back up to their original quote and NO LUAN. They claimed they cannot add the luan to the quote but that they will honor the deal - we all know if it's not in writing it won't happen and I have no recourse.

That Friday July 2nd I cancelled the agreement since it was not what we discussed or agreed to. I cancelled same day! On Saturday July 3 I called their customer service and spoke to Krystal at 9:52AM - 10:12AM, She accepted the cancellation and indicated I would receive a full refund. I called again on July 5 to confirm and spoke with Lisa at 11:09 AM - 11:24AM. She provided me with the two contract numbers that were being cancelled and we confirmed the refund amounts.

To date I have only received the smaller of the two refunds expected. I have made several calls to Empire and they keep claiming they have made both refunds and that it's my bank holding everything up. I had a long talk with my bank today - I have large 6 figure deposits with them so they are unlikely to upset me or lie to me and we have known each other for many years. The bank claims Empire is lying.

I wasn’t very happy with the gentleman from Empire Today who came out. He brought two pad samples and he said he was gonna stop by in a week or two to give us more options. He had some gray tones, but I told him I wanted to see other samples to see what other grays he had. He never even called me, or followed up. We pushed it a few months back because we wanted the summer to kind of go through the carpet still and have it closer to fall. We did it about three months later. Even then, we would ask him, “Are you gonna bring by samples?” It was a customer service lady that just says, “Go online.” But I wanted to feel, touch and see the actual color.

We lucked out that we picked good gray ones, but the guy wasn’t the best. I wasn’t sure about what we picked, so we almost called to cancel because he wasn't following up with us. But then we found out that we were gonna get charged 25% so we were like, “Forget it. We'll just go through with it.” There was one issue we had with the stairwell, and I think it's because of the one we picked. It was thinner than the old one that we had. The one we picked was so thin that on all the edges of the stairwell, your feet can touch the nails, and I didn't notice that until the guys left. So, I went to every step, and I hammered them all. I wasn’t dissatisfied because I ended up liking what we got. It looks nice. The guys that installed it were great. They were super fast. They finished it in half a day. I guess they couldn’t feel the nails because they were wearing shoes.

The first installation did not happen because the product did not come in. I was notified the morning of the installation. My salesperson told me I was set for a date 4 weeks out when the flooring would be in. He did not ever schedule the installation so I again used paid time off from work (because someone has to be there for installation) for no reason.

This is a flooring job over $20,000 that I am 100% paying for myself for the house I am the sole owner of. I am a female. I say this, because my salesperson insists on communicating with my boyfriend rather than me. My boyfriend has spent $0 on flooring and does not own our home. His name was listed as a secondary contact in the event that I couldn’t be reached the day of my install. At least that is what I was told. He is not an Empire customer and he signed no contract. My salesperson tried to tell me today that my boyfriend was expected to schedule my installation to deflect blame for the last installation not happening???

Even worse, the salesperson told me with my boyfriend present that he was scheduling our installation for Thursday, July 8th and entered the information into his tablet. I was never even given an apology for any of these service failures. I highly recommend not using Empire. I especially do not recommend that women use this company as less respect seems to be given based on gender.

We had 2 consultations with the sales rep, explained that we wanted to replace our one room of carpet with hardwood floors to the existing hardwood flooring, advised this wasn't an issue, installers that came out spoke very little English and understood even less, they put in a transition piece which we clearly did not want, and the transition piece is 2 different colors, the installers majorly scratched up the floor and covered it with a ottoman, I dealt with Latasha via email whom informed me that I was clearly informed that this was not possible, which I was not.

The sales rep refused to return my calls or emails. I did eventually get another sales rep out named Patsy whom was kind, informative and knowledgeable but she stated that she would pass it along to her supervisor, took pictures and 3 weeks later I texted her and she said that she wasn't in the loop that I needed to contact Latasha. I have never ever dealt with a company, that was so unwilling to try and rectify the concerns of a consumer.

As Latasha sent Patsy out not to address the issues at hand but rather to do a consultation to pull out the new floor and install a different color at my expense which was never what I wanted. We also purchased the warranty with this product. So I would think that at the very least they could fix the large scratch. Now if you want to take a gamble at having an install done and communications being mute or told that you're lying because they spoke to the sales rep, then this is the company for you. Good Luck.

In May 2021, I purchased carpet for our stairs from Empire Today for ~$1,000. They came, measured, and cut the carpet, and required me to pay the balance of my contract in full - and then never returned with the carpet. I have tried for the past few weeks to contact them. I am rarely able to reach a human being, and the few times I have, I have been PROMISED a call back within 24 hours on the status of my carpet. They have promised that a few times on different occasions over the past weeks, and I am never called back. While the sales representative was very good, the corporate and local offices have shown zero interest in providing my carpet. As soon as they collected the money from me, it became impossible to reach them. We eventually requested a refund, which they have not given us.

We ordered carpet for our stairs because my wife and I were a few weeks away from having our first baby, and were worried that our wooden stairs were unsafe for carrying a newborn up and down. The carpet was measured about two weeks before the baby was born, and (if they had delivered the carpet in two weeks, as promised) we would have received our carpet before the baby was born. Now, our baby is five weeks old, and, for our own protection, we will likely need to spend additional money to rush order carpet from another company before we even receive our refund (or a simple update) from Empire. I have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and other agencies (I learned only later how many complaints had been filed with the BBB against Empire), but felt the need to post a review in hopes that someone might avoid the mistake I made in doing business with Empire.

I’m blind and the salesperson did really well in helping me pick out carpet. I can see a little itty-bitty bit, so that helped some as well. When the installers came, they were good, too. But they broke my closet door and tried to cover it up by leaving that side of the closet door open but closing the other side, thinking I couldn’t see the carpet and the closet. And I didn't notice because I had moved everything in my condo. But when I went to put stuff back the next day, I discovered that the closet door was broken. They sent someone to fix it and he was an almost non-English speaking person who happened to be the father of one of the installers. He came in and spent some time with it. I tried to get him to go away because we were not communicating well, but he told me he fixed it. So I went in and I touched the door and he had closed it, but he had not fixed it. I told him that it was still broken.

Aside from that, someone else told me that they didn’t pull the carpet tight enough and that I'm going to have problems with this later. I pointed that out to him and said someone told me about it. He called his son then put him on the phone with me. His son told me that his dad said he fixed it. But I told him that he didn't fix the closet and that somebody said that the carpet was not done correctly. Then, the man left and I figured he was gone, so I locked my door. But he came back and was insistent that he come in. And I shouldn’t have let him in because at this point, I was upset and nervous.

Then, he told me he had left his phone. I had no way of knowing that, so I let him in. I didn't know what he was doing and he may have been fixing the closet door. But then I finally screamed at him that he needed to leave. I told him I was not comfortable, so he left. Then, lo and behold, he did fix the closet door. But the fact that he didn't fix it the first time and tried to tell me he did, figuring the blind person wouldn’t notice, was not okay. Also, it must not have been a big deal to fix it, because it didn't take him long when he actually did it

I'm happy with the carpet itself but because of that experience, I probably would not deal with Empire again, which is a shame. I complained about it in one of the email survey things and Empire called me, but nothing came of that. They said they were sorry about it but said they were contractors and that's what happens. I paid them $3,700 and that was how I got treated. I understand, being blind, that dealing with a blind person is different, so I tried really hard to be patient with that. Aside from that, Robbie, the salesperson, never contacted me again. She never called to ask how the installation went and that surprised me. The last time I got carpet installed was about 10 years ago in another house and those people called afterwards to ask if everything was okay.

The salesman never left me with a means of contacting him. The company would not do for me either. Installer gave me the wrong material to begin with and just "appeared" four hours before the scheduled appointment. Did not have the correct materials to finish the edges of the installed flooring. Said it would have to be ordered. One week later I called because I was not rescheduled. They set an appointment for me but did not show up as scheduled and with no cancellation. I kept calling with no response. Finally got a person to help me by indicating I wanted a new installation. Otherwise I doubt I would yet have my floor completed.

Poor service and I would advise any purchaser to definitely check the quality of the flooring material chosen. Also get a good contact number for your "salesman" so that you can follow up. I tried to fill out their survey but it had been marked "no longer available"; after my job was completed. This is one of the reasons for writing this review on this venue. I contracted Empire Today to install vinyl sheet flooring and carpet in several rooms of my home. The vinyl flooring was installed on June 17-18, 2021 and the installation is not to my satisfaction. First, I really like the color and pattern of the flooring. It was very different from what we had previously and the risk seemed like it was going to pay off.

That was as far as we got with the excitement. The guys that did the install wasted no time getting started moving tables and furniture items. They removed the old flooring and worked to clean up the old glue underneath. They started with our Dining room and I was very pleased with how everything was coming along. Once they were finished, I looked at the kitchen and breakfast area and noticed that they were not parallel to each other. In fact, I asked them to re-lay the entire breakfast area because it was at a noticeable angle to the walls. They tried to argue that it was not at an angle and that trim and floor transitions could be used to mask it. I could not believe that they were trying to deny that floor was not square with the room, so they finally replaced that one section.

The crew left and promised to return the next day to complete the finishing work. It was after they left my home that I realized how the crooked breakfast area was only the beginning. There were splices and pieces of flooring that were cut and reassembled as if it was a huge jigsaw puzzle. Parts of the laundry room had arches cut into where the wood grains did not even look they were from the same pattern. Under the dishwasher were huge splices and gaps that look like they are not going to withstand any splash of water. In front of the refrigerator was another huge spliced piece that does not line up and is very visible in the middle of the kitchen. Under the fridge was even worse, one leg of the fridge is not even on vinyl so the fridge is no longer level. There are pimples in the vinyl because something was not swept up and is now under the vinyl.

The crew came back the next day and I addressed my concerns with them. They replaced the one section in the laundry room, but nothing else. At that point, I was done dealing with them. They moved some of the furniture back, but I made sure that nothing went up against the wall, since I knew it was going to have to be replaced.

I started reaching out to Empire Today to discuss options to resolve the poor installation on Friday, June 18, 2021. On June 23, 2021, I was finally contacted by an installation manager to schedule an inspector to come to my house on Monday, June 28, 2021. On Thursday, June 24th, I received a text message to confirm my appointment for the flooring inspection for Monday.

Today, Monday June 28, 2021, at 8:39 am, I missed a phone call from the local Empire Today office. The voice mail that was left stated that they do not have an inspector in my area today and that they would need to reschedule for Thursday or Friday. I tried to return the call, leaving messages each time, that I was already promised an inspection for today. None of my calls were returned and as of 7:00 pm, I have not received any notification from Empire Today regarding this issue. I have had to reschedule the carpet installation due to the uncertainty and the inability to return all of my furniture to the areas included in the vinyl floor installation.

I will not pay for something that I am going to have to hire someone else to replace. I contacted the financing bank to dispute the charges until Empire Today addresses my concerns. I also have requested a detailed price breakdown of my contract because the amounts that were quoted to us by the salesperson and the amount on the contract do not add up. I have not been provided this information either as of today.

Empire Today makes it very difficult to get in touch with someone that has some authority to handle customer issues. They have made it clear by scheduling an inspection and then canceling the inspection that they do not value quality work. My wife and I have been planning this flooring upgrade for a couple of years and now instead of enjoying it, I am regretting it. I would not recommend Empire Today because of their lack of support for the customer. I could forgive the poor installation provided the company took me seriously and took steps to resolve this situation.

I was directed to Empire by HomeAdvisor and I ended up getting rigid core vinyl plank from them, which I had installed in the family room and dining room. The sales rep and installer were very professional. I was doing some yard work when the installer came out and he got me before he did the third room because he didn't want to destroy the hardwood that was underneath the carpeting. I ended up just taking the staples out and leaving it as hardwood. The flooring looks very nice. Then, I tried to do the rigid core plank in the bathroom and that didn't go very well for me. So, I like that it was pretty easy to install, but I have a little bit more respect for the installer. All in all, everybody that I dealt with was knowledgeable and it was a good experience overall.

There was an accounting problem though. I was getting double-charged, but I was able to produce a credit card receipt showing that I made a down payment, so they took it off and just charged me correctly. But it was amateur event and it never should have happened.

Customer service means nothing to this company. We spent $20,000 on hardwood floors. The workers made a huge mess and were very loud and goofed around the entire time. Both crews. Both days. Then they were supposed to come and lay carpet on some stairs and they cancelled us THREE times. Twice because they claimed to be overbooked and once because they claimed they had no padding. We asked numerous times to speak to a manager. Each time we were told we would receive a call back. NOT ONCE did anyone call back. This is the sorriest customer service EVER. I'm going to post reviews on Consumer Reports, social media and Yelp. DON'T USE EMPIRE/LUNA.

It's just that the fact that they were short in carpeting was mind-blowing to me. It probably was just in the distribution center. I had to go up the chain of command, but they did take care of us. I felt that they could have handled it lower. They were only willing to give me $25 off for my inconvenience when they screwed up. They said they don't reimburse you for your loss time of work. But I told them that, “If you were competent at what you were doing, you would have had all the materials.”

1 year ago I purchased new flooring for my home. I had to have the company send out an inspector at the end of April. Floorboards were popping up in the kitchen, the foyer and the hall. They took pictures and I signed the inspection report. I was told someone would contact me within 1 week. I gave them 2 because of Covid but when nobody got back to me I called them. Every day. For a week. Eventually I managed to reach a human. My ticket was closed and said repairs complete. This was a complete fabrication. Not only were no repairs made but no installers ever came by my home to make any repairs.

Since then they have scheduled to install on 2 different days. Both days I had to be available all day, each day nobody bothered to call and let me know the materials were not in stock so they cancelled the install. WITHOUT CALLING TO TELL ME. I had to spend half the day on the phone trying to reach someone for them to tell me. They did this on June 8th and June 25th. Now they tell me my flooring is not available and may be discontinued- keep in mind I ordered top of the line stuff 1 year ago. I got an email today saying they would get back to me when they had more details as if they could not source the floor materials from other stores I would have to pick out an alternative.

Historically they have not ever gotten back to me. I have to continually reach out to them. I started this process in April. It is now the end of June. They have run out the clock on my warranty which I believe is their intention from the beginning and my floors have boards coming up all over the place. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau but that does not get my floors fixed and I am at a loss of what to do. I hope that anyone reading this will save themselves the nightmare I am going through and choose a different company. I am still paying for the floors that were incorrectly installed.

Then I contracted to have hardwood put in my foyer and my kitchen. I didn't end up having the floors installed, but they gave me my money back for that. So that went well. They said I had asbestos in my floor and they would not install anything until I had a remediation come in and do a certificate. I didn't have asbestos on my floor. I had another local dealership come in and take care of everything. So, it worked out. I would recommend Empire for carpeting.

If I could have gotten their product for 50-50 it would have been great. But the flooring I received was better than what the 50-50 was and I like it. The installers did good work and worked fast.

Everything went well. It's just that there was a mix-up on the payment because I thought it was going to Synergy. And after I had got the cashier's check for Synergy, then I waited and waited. And when they finished the floor, they was asking for the money. I said, "No. I'm supposed to make the payment. We already talked about this and we're supposed to make the payment to Synergy, not to you.” Then come to find out, it was supposed to go to Empire and not Synergy. Other than that, I love the floor and I can't wait to get this second one paid down so that I can get the rest of the house done.

Our experience with Empire Today was amazing from start to finish. We started the process by scheduling a consultation online and the appointment was set shortly after. I was incredibly impressed with the sales person Ryan C. who came to our home. I have found that through this process the sales reps for some companies aren't as knowledgeable as the installation techs. This was not the case with Ryan. You could tell Ryan was confident and knew what he was talking about. He was also not pushy at all - I didn't feel like he was just there to make a sell but to also ensure we were truly happy with what we received. He gave us the time to consider our options and really went above and beyond to make sure we understood what we were getting, how to care for it, etc.

We had received quotes from multiple companies and ultimately went with Empire Today and Ryan due to their beautiful variety of flooring, pricing, and Ryan's knowledge and caring. We eventually decided to get the Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring with him because it best fit our needs. From the point that Ryan left until the installers came and finished was amazing. I was able to reach out to Ryan and ask a LOT of questions before our install and I never felt like I was bothering him. He always went out of his way to ensure I was heard and my questions answered - even when he was extremely busy with other appointments/etc - he always made sure to call me back by end of day.

The installers were amazing as well. They arrived on time and quickly got to work. You could tell they efficiently/expertly divided the work between themselves to ensure they got the work done quickly but beautifully/professionally. They were polite, friendly and helpful the whole time they were in our home. We were also working from home at the time - so they took extra care to work around us - as well as be mindful of where we were in the home and sound. I was so impressed at how quickly the floor was installed and how great it looked and how well done it was. They left all areas really clean and well done and checked with us multiple times before leaving that we were ok with how everything looked/etc. We are now a week past our install and I'm literally still in awe of how good our flooring looks and how well done it was.

I have one last note and this is again for Ryan - after our install Ryan took the time to answer questions about protecting our floor and has checked in on us to ensure we were happy. I don't think I've ever been more impressed with a sales person. You can tell Ryan takes pride in what he does and that his customers are satisfied. I can't speak for all salespeople at Empire Today but if all of them are like Ryan - you can count on having the company and its employees/contractors care for your home.

The nicest part is that we extended the entryway about three feet so now I have room to take my shoes off without staining my carpet. Empire Today's response times are great. Updated on 06/25/2021: Fighting with these people for a month. Several no shows for scheduled visits. A room of carpet with no padding/glued down in a bedroom, they tore the carpet in one room after they laid it down, other rooms where carpet is cut short and not touching the walls even, bunching up in many places coming up in others. Wrong padding ordered and put down.

Someone finally came out today to fix it. When they called to say they were coming I asked if he knew what needed done and had all the supplies. He said yes. Got here and didn't know what all he was doing and didn't have the supplies needed. Wanted to leave. Told him to do what he could. He wanted to leave. Insisted that he do what he could today and he said sign this. I said I wasn't signing anything until the work was done and done right. He said can't work without a signature. Told him to just give me the papers and yes I raised my voice because I am so sick of all this ** that my nerves are shot.

He grabbed the papers away as I reached for them and said, "I'm not working for you." I apologized for raising my voice and explained the situation and he just said he wasn't working for me. Quite convenient since it was obvious he didn't want to do the work to begin with. I was given a number for corporate and spoke with someone who arranged this yesterday, but now I can't get ahold of her. My son was late for work because of this, four rooms are scattered throughout my house and garage, a month of wasted time waiting on people who don't show or show at 7:30 at night only to say too much work, not gonna do now-be back tomorrow-no show. This is beyond insane.

Original Review: Carpet was glued to a (tile) bedroom floor and no padding was put down. (You either glue only the tack strips down or nail through the grout lines.) In other rooms carpet was cut short not even touching the walls, bunching up, coming up off the tack strips, and even sliced open in one 2 inch spot. The wrong pad was ordered and put down. Someone was scheduled to be here to redo the work on a Tues., showed up at 7:30 at night to say they couldn't do the work; it was too late in the day and they'd be back the next day. Never showed up. Talked to several people at Empire-lucky if you can get anyone to call you back that may or may not know something helpful; "not" has been my experience most of the time-and got several different answers.

My house is in complete disarray and they say they can't schedule a re-install for several more days now. We've already emptied the rooms twice and put back once. Now we have to put 4 rooms back again and empty out and put back a third time once we figure out what we can do about it all. Empire also installed LVT flooring down with several places having gaps, up to 1/2 an inch, that should have had trim. Had to have them come out to fix that and to replace the LVT flooring the Empire carpet installers damaged when moving furniture. The LVT installers were told they could reuse our old trim since it was going to be painted and only use their new trim where it was needed, but what they didn't tell me was their trim was considerably bigger than what we had. Now there's two different size trim pieces for the LVT rooms.

Filed complaints with the state and BBB about the carpeting and waiting a week or two for responses. Already been told by Empire that a full refund of carpet, install, and warranty is not coming. Will take out at least restock fees... (Restock what?) Offered to schedule fix/install for several days down the road, (twice throughout this, scheduled installs or fixes were "no shows"), and a $300 refund. I spent over $13,000. It's been a nightmare of shoddy work and wasted time and effort.

The vinyl plank was installed in my little bathroom, my kitchen, and down on the stairs to my lower level. Then the carpet was installed in the main floor, family room area, and one of my bedrooms. One of the installer guys didn’t speak English and they would speak in the dialect or a language I didn’t understand. And sometimes, I found that a little insulting or a little rude because you don't know what they're saying and they could be talking about you. But they did an okay job as far as the flooring. They had to cut a little piece of wood that goes from the floor to the wall, so it makes it smooth-looking. And that is still shaky, but the carpet's fine.

So I took some quotations from other companies and I decided to go with Empire Today. However, I am so sorry I went with them because they have not even finished the work. Also, they did not give me the carpeting I chose. They gave me something else. And when I told them, they said, "Oh, okay, we can change the carpet for you, but you will have to pay for labor." And when they did the bedroom, then they had to cut because there are three landings. It's three floors, so there are a couple of landings and the steps. They took the measurement and said they would come back after two weeks. After that, I tried calling them and it went to the answering machine, and I left messages. Then when I got to someone, they made me wait, and then they disconnected me. I was so fed up.

I ordered it in April, but up to now my work is not done. I tried calling them, then they sent me an email. Based on that email, I called again but they did not answer. I left a voice message two days ago. Yesterday, I got very upset. I wrote them a nasty email. And this morning, the rep called me and said, "We are trying to get in touch with you to see when you would like the work to be done." And there is no sorry. "Can I help you with your problem?" They are just disregarding the carpet. So even this, they are not addressing. I said, "Okay, fine. As long as they do the stairs, even with a different carpet, I'm fine."

On the 2nd rescheduled of installation I told a them that I am leaving the house at the 15th of June so make sure everything will be fix according to what we agreed by your sales agent John. But the technician has attitude and rude its like he is not happy doing the project, he don't even mind to call your office about the problem. He said just do another rescheduled and he left. If only he has the transition strip, why should I not pay it right away. But because he don’t have it I am sure that will take more days, more wait, and more rescheduled before they will come back. So many times I try to get hold someone from empire carpet but somebody will answer and pass me to other person and I keep on waiting until the line cut. I am so frustrated and I should believe the Google review about your company.

When we used Empire Today the first time four years ago, they came in and laid our carpet. I wish we would have been more knowledgeable about the carpet that was on sale though. It was not as good a quality. Besides having a problem with my son's dog coming in, it was definitely not a carpet for high traffic areas. It didn't hold up like we thought it was going to. I was disappointed in that. Still, we did a repeat with Empire Today when we had to relay the carpet. The saleslady, this time, was great. We just told her what we needed, what we experienced, and she didn't even go to the on-sale carpet. She told us that the carpet is great. She mentioned the new padding, what it’s rated for, and what it would do for us. Definitely, that was a better experience from that perspective.

This time, the carpet we bought was way better quality. It was more expensive though. We're just doing the upstairs bedrooms, but it was almost as expensive as doing a 7,000 square-foot house, when we did the entire house. With COVID, the second install experience was definitely not as good as well. The first crew that came in ended up walking out. Empire fired them, so we had a second crew that came in. They were really good, but we had a hard time time with scheduling, so I wasn't happy about that.

Empire has a problem with, like anything else, shortage of help. They still haven't gotten everything that we needed done because they don't have anybody that can lay slate right now. It’s a smaller job in the main part of the house, and I want that carpet out before I have a new puppy come in. We haven't heard a word from Empire. I'll probably end up going with somebody else to lay the slate at this point.

There is a clear disconnect between the corporate Empire Today entity and the local sites (franchises?). Be very cautious who you'll be dealing with LOCALLY. Our experience with the local San Diego site (in Vista, CA) has been very negative. We met with the rep, chose the material, explained the urgency and were given an install date, requiring a hefty upfront deposit. Install date arrives, passes and no news. Waiting. As we were in a time crunch the project had to be cancelled. Called customer service and they agreed to cancel the work order and return the deposit. Turns out the local Vista, CA office disagrees and doesn't approve the return of the deposit. If the local franchises can override company decisions, you really don't know who you'll be dealing with and should either stay away, or research the local outfit who will be doing the work on behalf of Empire.

The other companies that came by brought samples and the other brands looked all right, but the bottom line was the price. It was way out there. The deal was samples then price. If I liked the sample, “Okay. Give me the price.” I liked Empire Today's price and it was a deal. That’s how easy it was. The installers called me the day before. In the morning of, they called me when they were on the way to say they’d be here in about 40 minutes. They got here on time. They took up the old flooring and then put down the new flooring. They did a good job. I'm happy with the quality, and what I like about the vinyl flooring more than anything else is that it's low maintenance.

Dealing with the people at the office, the administrative part, sucked, but dealing with the sales guy and then the installation people, it was top-notch. The salesman and the installation guys went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the product and the installation. As a matter of fact, I still speak to the salesman from time to time.

I've heard a lot of complaints about Empire in other states but the one here in Denver was good. We had to call and ask a lot of questions because we didn't know what we wanted. We had a lot of very specific needs but knew very little. Throughout our house, we have solid oak wood floors that are sealed. There's a lot of differentiation in the coloring and we were trying to match it but we didn't want oak wood. It's harder to match when it's not oak. We also needed a floor that was dog-friendly as well as easy to clean and maintain. We wanted something that would be easy to replace if it needed to be replaced as well and they had to expand on the molding a little bit so there wasn't a space. Plus, I had to have it done by a certain date because of my son's graduation and we had people coming.

The reps helped out a lot. They did it to where it was almost seamless. The person that came out to look at our floor and helped us pick out the flooring had all kinds of samples with her. We didn't have to wait. She made the appointment while she was here. She answered all our questions. There were two she didn't have an answer for, but she called somebody and got the answer. We got an oak flooring that's a combination of hardwood and something else. It comes in the planks and we like it. It's like there's a border around it and it looks nice.

The gentlemen who came and did the flooring were helpful and answered our questions during installation and care. My son's on the autism spectrum and they handled that well. They were very dog-friendly too. The installation went great. I gotta give them a call to come back out though. There's a piece of molding that wasn't attached to anything and it's weird because it's over by the stairs where the stairs meet the floor. It looks like they tried to nail it in but I don't think they realized there was nothing behind there.

They sent another guy out and said the floor was not put in properly and the whole thing needed to be redone. We have had at least 3 scheduled installers after that "no show". They sent another person out with some material but he also agreed that the whole thing needed to be redone and he didn't have enough material. We have left several messages and do not get a call back. I have tried the chat and that has not resulted in anything. The last person was going to connect me with a supervisor and after a long hold I was sent to a recording to leave a message of the person that I had already left several messages.

The installers did not show up the first day they were supposed to, but they almost literally called at the end of the day. After that, everything was what I expected. My only disappointment was I have one very large room, and there were a few extra seams. They are holding together, and you don't see the seams unless you look for them, but if they used a full piece of carpet for this large area, I could have had two or three less seams there. It was the only little thing I was less than 100% sure about in terms of what they did. Apart from that, the two guys were very efficient. They moved the furniture very carefully. They were on time. They did great adjusting all the closets, the heights to the new carpet height. They did all the closet doors.

This is an area where we don't travel much to, so we bought a reasonably priced carpet. Empire Today's pricing is very competitive, but I don't know how their advertising, “Buy a room, get two rooms free” comes out in the wash. In my price comparison, they were good, but it's hard to confirm the marketing draw. At the end of the day, here's the price. They don't say, “Okay. You got six rooms you’re doing. So, here's the cost of these two rooms, then you get the other four free.” Overall, I was quite satisfied, and I would recommend them.

The rep who came out was very nice and highly recommended the glue down vinyl plank floor. I purchased that product due to his recommendation. I had the floor installed in Jan. Since then I’ve had multiple issues with the floors lifting and buckling up. Every time they came to do the repairs they sent the original installers. In the beginning they were pretty prompt about returning calls and sending out for repairs. Over the last few months customer service never returns calls and finally had to email their customer support online. I finally received a phone call from a customer service manager out of their main office. He said they were having problems with their customer service dept. in Phoenix and it was a well known issue. He sent a different installer out to examine my floor.

The installer said the floor was not installed correctly and that’s why I continue to have the same issue. The customer service manager told me that they would redo my entire hallway. He scheduled an appointment for service and no one showed up. I tried contacting the customer service manager and left several messages and no return calls. This is the second time out of multiple repairs where no one came. This has been a horrible experience that has been going on for 6 months. It’s not a good feeling to pay good money for a new floor and find out it was not installed properly. I would not recommend this company for the glue down vinyl plank floor.

I recently took out great hardwood floors to replace them with Empire’s laminate plank floors. The rep. Ruby came out immediately to and show me the product that he recommended that would be best for my household. I have a pet and like many that seen their commercial, their floors offer 92-97% scratch resistant. I also replaced my upstairs with their carpet that had additional plush and pet friendly. He then explained that because I have a business in my home that he would do the deal as commercial for this price instead of residential and it would be discounted approximately 20%. The appointment was booked within 3 days and the empire crew came to do the service.

On day one the Empire crew told me that they didn’t have the product for my carpet and they had to make a run to Home Depot to pick it up. This was very alarming to me because if you are doing a service and the product that you are installing is not available then you should not install it until it becomes available in your warehouse. Half of the empire crew ran to Home Depot while the remaining Empire crew continue to remove my old floors while waiting for the other half of the Empire crew to return with the product from Home Depot. The entire process took 5 days. When done, my floors had so much dust and my base molding that was also replaced looked so grey from the dust and the empires crew dirty gloves, when they were supposed to be white. I did not expect the empire crew to leave while the floors not shined up and retail ready like the product that I was showed to from the sales binder.

The following day I noticed that my floors were being scratch up from my pets nails. I waited approximately 7 days to see if once I clean and shine my floors that the visuals of the scratches would go away but in fact the scratches were definitely embedded into the floors permanently. I called Empire the 8th day to explain what was happening and requested someone to come have a look. I also took pictures and called and texted my original sales guy Ruby and he explained that the floors should not be doing this and that the product might be defaulted. He then gave me his Supervisor name Katelyn and phone number to tell her what was happening. I did exactly that and for 1 month Katelyn informed me that she has sent my pictures of the scratches to her Boss and will be getting in touch with never.

2 months have passed and I haven’t heard from anyone. I called Katelyn and said this is unprofessional and 2 months have passed and now my floors look horrible. I can even move a chair across my floors without it scratching and she said no this is not supposed to happen. In fact she told me she has empire floors as well and her children are so rough and her floors are fine. No scratches. I then requested for her to send someone immediately to come look at my floors. She send representative and he said this was a bad install and I had staples showing on my base board that was definitely not supposed to be. He took pictures, I showed him where the empire crew messed up my fireplace while installing the floors. My home is only 5 years old. He told me that because my deal was commercial that he only did inspections for residential and that he will send the pictures back to Katelyn and the commercial side would have to come out.

Now we are in the month of June 2021, this is 4 months later and I have called and called and nothing is being done. I had a appointment for June 10, 2021 for a representative to come and they were a no show. At this point I am beyond ends and I told the representative that I will be filling a report. Customer service has been the most unprofessional. The Company as a whole has been a disgrace. Unfortunately I would never refer Empire to anyone.

The salesman and I talked a lot about the carpets, and then we talked a little about golf 'cause he was wearing a golf shirt. I'm a golfer, and that set my mind at ease as far as salesmen go. With the installer, we kept thinking that it didn't make any sense that the guy was by himself, but he was right. He had an assistant, and there was a device that he brought with him. That was all he needed. I was shocked 'cause he did it all and got it all in by himself. I was pleased with his work and his effort. He did a good job.

The HOME Fresh Carpet seemed like a product that would be very sustainable in my basement. My basement's dry for the most part, but you never know, so that's why I wanted that carpet. Empire Today came up with a good idea as far as the padding that's attached to the carpet and it breathes. Plus, it's recyclable materials, which is good too. I'm happy with the carpet down there because of the design of it. Also, since there was some sort of a promo special going on, my wife decided she would like to replace the carpet in her office. She's pleased with that as well.

I would give Empire Today zero stars if it wasn't for the good work of the "independent" installers. First off, our salesperson misquoted the job (she didn't know the difference between our existing glued down floor vs floating - she is supposed to be a professional) and didn't even measure correctly - when the installers came, they were short product and had to come back a second day. Secondly, they had our phone number wrong (not even close) and moved our job out 2 weeks and we didn't know.

I took a day off work for the install and no one showed up. The number they were calling was a Nursing Home and we are a private residence. It didn't they occur to them that maybe they had the number wrong. Third, they charged us an extra $700 for a warranty we said we didn't want (and have record of saying no to) since the flooring supposedly comes with a lifetime warranty. They won't return our calls, their customer service laughed at our experience, social media rep won't help, corporate ignores our calls. This company is extremely shady. We completely regret ever choosing them. The experience was a total nightmare.

Empire had good deals. I had them do laminate wood flooring in the living room and the hallway. I’ve been in this house for 37 years and I wanted the flooring to last for the rest of my life. The salesperson showed me the best one and I like it. It’s 100% waterproof and durable. I have six animals in the house and my grandkids are here. We picked the color. The salesman was very knowledgeable there. The flooring looks like wood grain and you can feel the grain in the planks.

The installers got here at 9:00 in the morning. They snapped in the planks using a hammer. They left around 4:00 in the afternoon. It was just the two of them pushing the furniture here and there. The problem with the installers was the communication. One of them understood English but he couldn’t speak it. I had to talk to the other installer. Other than that, they worked fine and the flooring looks great. But the guys are coming back out to do some stuff. They put white quarter round down and it didn’t go with the brown floors and woodwork I have. That was one thing with the salesman. He had me sign papers and didn’t tell me that part was free because it was white. I didn’t think anything about it until I came into the house and it was white.

I called my salesman back. He got ahold of the installers' manager. He said that they would make it right. That was May 1st. I was supposed to talk to somebody but they put me on hold and never got to me. I called back six times before I got ahold of somebody to actually talk to about my flooring. We are now at the end of June and I finally got ahold of them to come out and fix it. Empire's customer service could be improved. You shouldn’t have to call five or six times to get ahold of somebody. Other than that, I love the way the flooring makes my house look so much better. Things are cleaner and it’s cooler.

I had laminate flooring as well as carpeting installed by Empire. The carpet was on the stairs and the laminate flooring was in the kitchen, living room, dining room, and foyer area. It was the whole first floor. The interaction with the installation team was fine even though they didn't speak a lot of English. They checked with me to make sure it was the floor that I was supposed to be getting. They worked and did everything.

The only thing was at the end, they were rushing. Their guy was trying to go around and look at stuff really quickly because they were trying to get out since they had been there all day. They noticed one thing they forgot and they hurried up, brought it in, and put it in. After they left and I was able to take my time, I noticed that they forgot another piece by my patio door. They left the nails protruding out by my patio door where the piece is supposed to go. I could also see where they stopped or cut off the end of the board. There was also a small hole in my wall behind a piece of furniture that I had. I wound up fixing the small hole myself.

I spoke with Empire on a couple of occasions. A lady just called me and apologized overly because of that. She scheduled for the installers to come out and repair the issues. They were supposed to come last week, on the 15th, but nobody showed up. I didn't receive a phone call either. Now, I had escalated the issue again. I called and they asked me if I wanted somebody to call me back so I requested for a callback. A young lady called me back and I told her what the issue was. She left me on hold to get customer service. I was on hold for over 30 minutes and she never came back so I just hung up.

Leaving your customer on hold that long and not coming back and saying anything is just downright rude. The rep could have come back and told me that nobody was answering and she had to put me in the queue. It almost made me feel like she put me on hold because she didn't want to have to deal with the escalation. I was looking to have Empire come out and give an estimate for my mom's house but at this point, I don't even want to deal with it. If I have to deal with the same type of thing with my mom's house, I don't want to deal with the frustration.

I got the flooring done first and it has been in for almost two months. The carpet was done after. When I asked the carpet people, "Can you guys just put the piece down so nobody gets hurt?" I have a five-year-old and a kitten. The installers said, "No, it has to be done by the people that did the floor." They were just there for the carpet. Now, the rep is calling me saying she put in another claim for an emergency and she's claiming the installers are going to come out on Friday to fix the issue. I've been dealing with this for over two months. At this point, I could've gone to Lowe's, done the measurement, had them cut me a piece, and put it in front of my patio door myself.

My floors are beautiful. It was just bad customer service and that ruined the whole experience for me. Everything was paid to Empire and it has taken this long just for one small piece. But I could guarantee that if something happened with my payment or I didn't pay them like I was supposed to, it wouldn't have taken that long for them to reach out to me trying to get some type of resolution regarding that. Now, I filed my claim with the Better Business Bureau because this was ridiculous.

This is a follow for a negative review I posted against Empire Flooring. After getting over my anger about them making me take a day off and not showing up for an installation I rescheduled for a couple days later. The installers called to advise me they were on their way. They arrived when they said they would. It took the 2 days they quoted. The flooring is exactly what we ordered. Installers worked their behinds off and did an excellent job. They even had to run out and pick up more 3/4" plywood for underlayment because our original hardwood flooring had been installed incorrectly. No additional charge. They reinstalled our baseboards and did a good job cleaning up. Very satisfied overall.

Contacted Empire for hardwood flooring. Rep came out and we purchased flooring and scheduled installation. Company called a couple days prior to install date to confirm. Took off from work to meet with installers. Called after a couple hours to check when they'd show. Was told they couldn't contact installer. Was told to call back later. Called 1 hour later and they again tried to contact installer. No contact. They advised me they would call me later with time for install. They called later to advise they couldn't make it today and wanted to reschedule for 3 days later. I requested to talk to a supervisor. Waited on hold for 20 minutes. Called several times after that and was told someone would check on this and get back shortly. Still waiting 4 hours later. They have my money and more time on their hands than I do.

Empire dazzled us with the discounts that they said online. But, I didn't really know until I got them out. I really liked their salesperson and I stopped shopping at that point. When they came out the first time, they had the wrong pad. I got the salesperson involved. He jumped in right away and took care of it. The original installers weren't happy 'cause they went all the way here with the truck loaded up. But, the new group that came was fantastic. They knew exactly what was up and they were out of here super quick. I'm completely satisfied with the entire experience all the way around.

I have recommended Empire Today to other people because they were looking for carpeting. I went to other people too but I came back to Empire because I had used them before at another house. I told the salesman that and I told people to at least get a quote because people would say that they remember them and that they used to see them on TV all the time. But I said that I still see the commercials every now and then. This time, I picked a bit better grade of carpeting and I wanted a good padding because I don't want to do this again anytime soon. There's something out there for everybody but if I can get a better quality, especially if I can get it on a discount, that’s what I want to go with. The installers were great, very polite and worked fast. I'm satisfied with the product and the installation.

My salesperson was very helpful and nice. She walked me through everything and explained the whole deal. Also, the install was good. I had our spare bedroom upstairs in the hallway and the stairs done first. Then a couple of months later, I had everything else completed - all three rooms. The second install went better, because the first time, they didn't bring the baseboards so they had to come back another Saturday. Also, they gave a three-hour period and they came at the end of it and didn’t leave until 9 o'clock at night. I felt bad for the guys that were working that late. So on the second install, I made sure that I asked them for a morning appointment so they won’t go that late. I would use Empire again.

He said whoever measured did not do an accurate job of doing the measuring. So, he had to get some more products delivered to him. But he started the prepping, getting the floor ready, getting the old carpet up, and picking up everything he needed to get out of the way. By the time he had done all of that, the carpet that he needed was here. He was able to complete it once the product arrived. So, everything worked out okay. I was satisfied. The carpet is very plush.

At first, sales associate was very nice and appeared knowledgeable. We decided to go with Empire- even though they were not the cheapest but had high customer service rating and we liked our sales associate. We purchase laminate flooring in one room and industrial carpet in another. The laminate flooring was installed on time but we had to wait on the carpet. When installing the laminate they discovered they could not install the quarter round due to concrete walls- no solution offered and no refund. When carpet installers came the next day, they did not have enough carpet to do the job. The installers refused to come back only later to find out the reason- the carpet we were sold was of poor quality and would not work for the area we wanted.

Second installer came out with enough carpet and informed us he would not guarantee the carpet install and wanted us to sign-off that he was not responsible. Sales rep changed the carpet order and a third installer came out- installed the carpet and within 2 hours the carpet began coming up- glue did not hold. Now my sales rep will not answer the phone (sick)- installers did not speak English and will not answer the phone and the main installer number - I have left several messages with no reply. I have left several messages with Customer Service- still no reply. I would not recommend EMPIRE to anyone- what a horrible customer service experience.

I like the quality of the carpet. It's pretty good. The installer was perfect. The only problem I had was the Empire people on the phone. I didn't understand something on the contract about tackless installation and when I called and inquired about it, the guy couldn't answer the question. It said tackless. I'm just a consumer. I'm not a carpet specialist. Tackless to me means no tacks being used. So I told him that if they were not going to use tacks, then I didn't want the carpet. So he cancelled it. But I didn't even know it was canceled. Then he transferred me to somebody else.

The second guy explained to me what tackless was and I told him that I understood it. He put my order back in the system but my installation date was no longer available and nobody told me that. So somebody called me to reschedule. Even the manager called me and he said, "Well, you say cancel, then they cancel it. That's just the way it works." I told him, "You're telling me a customer has to hold their tongue and don't say a word ‘cancel’?"

I purchased some carpet and the padding. I had it in my living room, hallway, and stairs. However, the grade of carpet that I got wasn't that good because it's shedding already. I just got it done and it shouldn't be shedding at all. Also, I had another estimate done on the family room, the area where I had Empire come out and give me the estimate for that, and it was $400 more than what I paid. I heard the price the rep said and then later on as we were talking, he made it $500 more than what he told me. Then he said, “Well, I have to step outside to talk to my supervisor to see if we can get it lower.” And he came back for 100 and some dollars cheaper. So I told him, “No, that's okay. I'll just go to another company and get it done.” Because it was $422 more than I got from Home Depot. And because it's a better grade carpet too, the color is very similar, but you wouldn't be able to tell.

Other than that, the Empire Today sales rep was excellent. He was very helpful. The first time, he was very good. Installation day, the gentleman called me to let me know that they would be there. They came and were very professional. The guys were good and did a damn good job.

We hired this company to install luxury vinyl in a bathroom, hallway, and stairway. Bathroom and hallway are good but stairway is unbelievable. There are raised nails/staples on every step that are a tripping hazard when you catch your socks on them. You can't walk barefoot because of the protruding nails/staples. On 5/17/21, I reached out to person who did the quote about a half hour after installer left (at 8pm) letting her know how disappointed I was with the result because she is local, thinking she would come and take pictures but she just referred my concern to Empire. She told me someone would call me the next day and no one did.

On 5/19/21, I called Empire Today and got a customer service agent who took my information down about the health hazard of the stairs and she gave me a reference/request # and said someone would call me in 24 "business hours". I asked how many "business hours" were in a day and she said 12. (Why not just say 2 days?) On 5/21/21, still no call and I called customer service again and was left on hold for 47 minutes before I finally hung up. We have open stairs to two different rooms and we were told the job did not include any trim work to cover the side of the stairs after the job was done. How is that possible? You do not leave the sheetrock and side views of the risers and original wooden stairs open without covering them with trim. Also, because the trim is missing, you can see that one of the risers is not straight.

All of the 14 stairs have multiple nail/staple protrusions. The miter cuts on the stairs do not match up so they filled them with putty of a different color. Two steps have 3 pieces of vinyl on them and not all the same color or grain direction. My main concern is the health and safety of my family using the stairs. No one seems to be concerned except me and my family. So far we have paid over $3000 and what is even scarier is that we are scheduled to have another bathroom floor installed in August, to which will be another $2000+. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

I had a new carpeting put in a few bedrooms. One carpet was pretty much the same throughout, and then one slightly different for the master bedroom. There was a bit of a screw-up in the installation. The salesperson underestimated the carpet that they needed by about 3 square feet. So when the installer did the measurements, he said he didn't have enough carpet. He came back the next day, and this time, he didn't have enough of the right carpet and need to come back a third time the next day to replace the one bedroom so it matched the rest of the upstairs. So it was somewhat of a time-consuming thing for me.

The installer did a very fine job. He was great. It was just the salesman misestimating, and whoever was the supplier, used two different dye batches. The back office took care of the issue and they were quite diligent in getting in contact with me. When they saw the problems, they were on it immediately. Overall, Empire Today is reasonable but they should make sure that the salesman knows what he's talking about.

I was scheduled for service for Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring on Saturday, April 17, my day off, for my kitchen, powder room, and primary bathroom. The installers arrived and had one of the wrong products and tried to convince me it would look nice. I called the representative who admitted he forgot to go back and select my final decision on one product quickly indicated it was his birthday and he was off. He was not able to enter the correct product until the following week and the only other day I could accommodate the installers was on one of my telework days. The kitchen and powder room were big projects because they had to remove tile flooring. I left the installers removing the floors on the second floor while I worked in the basement.

Within 45 minutes, I checked on them and one installer had left the floor in the powder room and went to the primary bathroom and was near completion. Needless to say, he did not ask me what direction I wanted the tile and laid them how he wanted them. I was able to advise them on the other rooms. Not to mention, he cut a tile a little short near the tub. I mentioned it to him and he said he just needed to caulk it. I notified the Installation Team when they called and Janna told me they could redo that floor the way I wanted it, since I was paying for it.

On April 30, they sent another installer out to finish applying the transition strip in the kitchen, because they did not have the correct one at installation and he conducted an inspection of the primary bathroom floor and took pictures of the tile. I was told I would be contacted the next day regarding the inspection and was not. I called customer service and several days later, they did not have the inspection report. I finally got Janna in the Installation Department and she told me her manager, Dante, was still reviewing it, but she "promised" she would call me back. I have not heard from her and that was about four days ago. So, I called again yesterday, May 13, and some other young lady answered.

I am not sure if she thought she put me on hold, but I heard her say "what do you want me to tell her?" Then, she came back on the phone and said, "We are contacting the installer and will get back to you. I know you have heard that a lot, but I promise, I will call you back." I still have not heard from her. I am sure they are just as tired of me calling as I am calling them. But, we invested almost $3000 in this company and were inconvenienced on several occasions. At least honor your word and let me know the resolution.

I feel bad because I referred friends to Empire/Luna before my project was complete, and they contracted them for carpet for the installers to show up, look at the room, and tell them they did not have enough carpet to complete the job that day. It makes me look bad too. I can not refer anyone else to Empire, because customer services is lacking, and no one wants to debate with someone when they are spending their hard earned money.

Well it's just in one spot shouldn't the whole floor in the area of the dishwasher be damaged, when I explained to Jessica about the molding in the living room she said it would cost an additional 100.00 to come look at it.

Well I'm not paying for the molding to be replaced, because it should not have separated from the glue anyways, warranty or no warranty, and it took two months for me to get someone out here to even look at the kitchen because they claimed they never did my kitchen. Updated on 08/12/2021: This is part 2 to my original review. I have received no resolution and no credit for the many "inconveniences" that Empire put us through during the ridiculous month long install, that were promised to us in early May. With every call I make to the 800 number I am told the same thing, that someone will call back in 24 hours and I have yet to receive a phone call. I have called the local affiliate "Andrea" numerous times in the last six weeks to inquire about our "credit" & to schedule the regrouting of my kitchen floor, that Empire was aware would need to be redone, days after it was completed, I am still waiting for a return call. I guess Empire thinks as long as they don't respond and continue to ignore you, that you'll go away. I've spent so much time making phone calls to Empire to resolve this, what's one more phone call? My next phone call is going to be to the Ohio Attorney General's office.

Original Review: The worst experience ever! If I could give negative 5 stars, I would. I will never recommend this company to anyone... family, friends, coworkers, not even enemies! I am limiting my review to my tile installation. My order was the Living room, Dining room, Entry hall, all to be done in hardwood. Kitchen in LVT. The kitchen is the smallest room at 189 sq. ft. I had hardwood installed on 4/9/21 which was completed on 4/12/21. LVT was to be installed in the kitchen on 4/10/21. A one day job,189 sq ft.

We hired Empire 3 years ago and had a pleasant experience with them. Definitely not the case this time. They get your money, pretty much up front, in the form of a hefty deposit, in our case $6,360.95 and then they require the balance before the installers will even unload the material and start the work, which they never seem to complete. You're between a rock and a hard place with these people. They string you along for weeks on end..They are full of endless excuses, apologies & incompetence.

On 4/24/2021 the tile is to be finished. I made arrangements for a disabled family member who lives in the home with a traumatic brain injury to be displaced for the day so the tile could be completed. This is two weeks after they started the 189 sq ft kitchen, they worked three hours and left! They returned Sunday morning & finished laying the tile, they had no grout! That's an entirely different story! Floor still not finished, Empire has been paid in full over $12,000.00 dollars since April 10. They wasted no time getting my $12,721.89. They have been to my home a total of four times, working 3.5 hours each time, to install the tile. Did I mention its189 sq ft??

Calls to customer service are useless, they don't care, they already have your money, and it’s been 4 weeks since they started the installation. Two different crews, short on product,, working 4 hours or less each time they show up, sales people that have ghosted you, reps calling to see how your install went? Are you kidding? I'm still waiting for the installation to be completed. Our original install date of Saturday 4/10/21 was set, no time off work required. Since they do not finish the work, they reschedule two more different days for installation on a weekday. As I explained to “Tammy” who called after every unsuccessful, incomplete, installation date, I cannot afford to take a day off work for Empire so called installations that never happen. I need every one of my sick days for breast cancer reconstruction surgery in May.

Another date of Saturday May 1st is given to finish the install, at 7:12 a.m that morning, I received a call from “Andrea” stating they would not be out to finish the tile because “the grout was not on the truck” and how sorry she was, and she would be looking into getting us a discount for all this trouble. What a train wreck this company is!

5/8/2021 the KITCHEN FLOOR IS FINALLY COMPLETED A MONTH LATER! Rep “Tammy” calls May 11th to see how the install went?? I told her the grout is cracked, and had shrunk in a few places, looks terrible and needs to be regrouted, also that my surgery was in a week and I would be focusing on that. She stated she would make a note of this, and that when I was well enough, to call back and they would fix the grout issue, when I mentioned to her that Andrea said she would be working on a discount, she stated she would give Andrea a “note” and that would be addressed when I call back to schedule the service call.

I'm having major surgery in less than a week, II will not be focused on Empire and when to call them back to schedule for the grout repair or my “discount”. This entire ordeal with them has been beyond stressful and infuriating. I have three more rooms in my home that will be upgraded in the future, Empire will not be getting our money a third time.

Go with Empire. They are honorable, reliable and very courteous. Their sales representative was very knowledgeable. The guys who installed came with the carpet. They made sure that the color was the proper color. They laid it down and hooked up everything, moved the furniture out that needed to be moved out and they installed the carpet. They did a very fine job. They vacuumed, cleaned up after everything when it was over and put everything back where it's supposed to be.

We got rid of the old carpet and put some new carpet in. I love the carpet from Empire. The quality's good and it feels good on my feet. I love the colors and everything about it. The installation went very well, surprisingly. I didn't think the process was gonna be so fast and so thorough. The guy came in first and he assessed everything and knew what he had to do. The guys were courteous, very mannerable and professionally did the work. I would do it again. I would choose Empire and I would recommend Empire because the process was an easy process from start to finish.

It was a pleasant experience with the sales rep of Empire. The installers also came as scheduled and completed the work. They did well. The flooring and carpet look beautiful.

I spoke to Empire's rep and she was not polite. I was giving her the number. She told me to slow down and I did slow down. After that, I gave all the details and she gave me the work order. She was going so fast. I told her to slow down but still, she was going so fast. I have a problem with the laminate flooring. I can hear a sound when I step on some places. A few weeks ago, the technician came and fixed it. He told me that was the only thing he could do. Still, when I step on the laminate flooring, I can hear that crackling sound. Also, I noticed that the carpet is peeling off from the master bath and they're joined with the master bedroom. I'm not happy with this flooring.

Seems to be a theme going on with the 1 star reviews. I too have now had the exact same experience of several others. Salesman comes, he’s great. I pick the floors, pay 25% non refundable, schedule the appointment, take the unpaid day off... Clear out the rooms which are a photography studio that can not be used now and a music studio which can not be used now.

I confirmed this installation twice by phone and 3 times by email! Day comes? No show. I call the call center? “Oh sorry, we don’t have the product.” "Nope, your salesman isn’t available, nope, no one is covering, nope there are no supervisor who can talk to you... but? I’ll put you on a call list and someone will call you within 24-72 hours."

I rarely, if ever, give bad reviews on companies. This one? Absolutely horrible customer service and follow through. No calls to make us aware of the product's unavailability (if that is even the truth). I'm out $855 so far for 25% + $240 I would have made at work today + $175 in a lost photography shoot + $350 in lost music lessons+++ because I have no idea when someone will contact me, if the floor will ever be available and if they will ever be installed. Incredibly disappointed.

I had a pipe burst in my ceiling from the Feb, 2021 freeze in Houston, TX. My ceiling came down and damaged my carpet as well. I had to have my carpet in my den area replaced. I called Empire Today and a sales rep visited me the next day. I picked out a similar color to the rest of the carpeting in my house from a book with carpet samples. I was promised that everything would be done in a very satisfactory manner. My carpet was installed March 10, 2021. At first, I did not notice that there were strange-looking streaks and splotches in the carpet. I called and was told someone would come to inspect it. On March 18, the "expert", who was also the person who installed the carpet, came to my house and said there was nothing wrong with the carpet.

Another person from Empire Today came by later and also said there was nothing wrong with the carpet. He hammered down some carpet stripping that was sticking up and said he would return with the part to replace that stripping. He never returned. I do not like how this carpet looks. I think it looks strange, as if it may have been damaged. I have cried and cried about this carpet. I did receive a call from another man with Empire Today who said he would talk about my issue with the "powers that be." He called later to say there was nothing they could do. Basically, I am having to live with carpet I do not like. I don't recommend Empire Today. I don't trust them.

The vinyl plank flooring from Empire looks great. The cost seemed a little high to me though. One of the most attractive things of Empire was the ability to get it done sooner rather than later. The installers were great too. Byron was the lead installer. He did a nice job interacting with me. On the one recommendation that I have, they had to remove quite a bit of carpeting and ceramic tile. They also didn't come with a dump truck. They loaded everything into the van that they came into. They were there from sunup to past sundown at 11 PM.
