My husband trusted the salesman and went ahead with a different carpet of same quality level we picked initially. Salesman Tom ** stayed on top of the order and made sure everything went smoothly after the first incident. Special Thanks to Tom ** and David ** for making this right. We finally had the carpet installed today, the installer were very courteous and meticulous with their and the carpet looks amazing and we are very happy with the result.

We scheduled free consultation to get carpeting for our second floor, of course they show up on time for that. He starts by showing us the carpets that are apparently high quality and are on "sale", so we went ahead picked on of them and completed the booking process. Now a day before installation, after we have confirmed our appointment, we received a call saying they don't have carpet in stock and we need to pick something in stock to make the appointment ?!?! We were reluctant with all the bad reviews, so we double/triple checked with sales person, he even called somebody back in office to check on carpet availability and date availability. After confirmation & payment process, now we have to pick something they have "available". Such a waste of time and effort with this company. Reading other reviews, it just feels like this scam.

I've had carpet in the two bedrooms upstairs done by Empire and then the vinyl in the bathroom and the stairs going upstairs as well. When I was planning on trying to do some flooring earlier this year, we just can’t afford it quite yet. I really liked the lady who did the flooring. I just called them again. The cost was right about par for what I was looking at and the quality was definitely better. I also like how fast they were able to do things and I really liked the saleslady. She was upfront with me about everything and tried to give me the best deal possible. The flooring is awesome. I haven’t had any problems with it so far. However, there was a little hiccup during the first installation. They weren't given enough product when they came out. When I tried to reschedule, it took quite a while to get a hold of anybody.

We had Engineered wood flooring installed in living room, beautiful flooring but the flooring was supposed to be Installation Method Floating - Click Lock - Engineered Floating/Glue Down. But at one of our entryway the floor bounces violently spongie. We notice it after a few days. We contacted Empire Today to get installer back to fix - complete sham and run around. I have expressed how unhappy with this problem in more than a dozen email - several videos. Nothing. Now it been two months and still nothing - The said part is we spent additional money for the Empire Service Plan.
All I get from Empire is a called back with a number. I call the number back within 10 minutes nothing - unreachable. Empire Today was better when it was Empire did not have these issue to have issues fixed quickly. Now I am waiting now for call back which has been two weeks since my last email. Your statement 'If the customer is not happy, Empire is not happy' is a fraud and complete sham. I will contact them once more before I seek a lawyer to for legal help.

We did laminate flooring with Empire. We had several estimates. The quality and cost were fairly even across the board. What was really the key was how quickly it could get done with Empire. The sales rep was also very professional. He seemed knowledgeable about the trade, as well as all the products and any deals that were going on as well.
There were two gentlemen that installed and they came right on time. They were kind enough to move the furniture that we hadn’t yet moved. The whole job was done in a timely, professional manner. I would recommend their service. They were quick to respond with inquiries about estimates as well as update us on the project. The professionalism of the install crew was some of the best we've had. The flooring has good quality, too. There are no real loose boards. All the quarter round, everything is nailed down securely. Our 15-month-old has tested that.

Empire sent a woman out here and she was very nice and knowledgeable. She had some samples with her. I was having one room of laminate flooring put down and a little hallway and a closet in there. We talked about everything and got it all squared away. We filled out the papers for it to be done. I clearly mentioned to her, my furniture will need to be moved. She said, "Oh yeah." I'm almost 80 and I can't move this furniture.
From the time I spoke with her and gave her the down payment, it was a good three weeks before I got a call that they were setting. I asked the woman, "Can you tell me who is coming so I know who it is?" She said, "Roberto." I said, "How many people will there be?" She said, "They usually have at least three." Then she said, "We have one problem. Because there's nothing down here for the cost of moving the furniture."
I said, "The woman and I talked about it and she said, ‘Oh, that's fine.’ She said they would be moving the furniture.” She said, "I don't know, but there's nothing here about moving the furniture." I said, "I can't do it." She said, "I'll call the girl that had come out and we'll get back." I waited till afternoon and I called her and she acted like she knew what had happened. But she said, "Let me call and I'll call you right back." She called me back within 15 minutes and said, "It'll only be $30 to move your furniture." I said, "Okay. That's fine."
She said, “They'll call you first.” He did and his name was Julio. He was super polite and nice. He spoke not very good English. He did a great job. He was very careful. As soon as he got here, the first thing he had to do was call and find out what I still owed. I had to pay for it right then. He started working and he moved my furniture. I felt sorry for him because he was by himself. He got here at 9:00 in the morning and he left at 10 o'clock at night. It was more than a one-man job. It was either that or he was trying to be very conscientious at what he did. But it was only one room plus a little hallway.

Unable to receive high quality carpet in a timeline turnaround needed. I read reviews and met with Empire Today representative. He sold me an 8k installation with a two week turnaround. I was thrilled at the promises … and, when my guys arrived with the carpet, which I took the day off work to install, it was not bound as promised. They drove away and it took three weeks to get a customer service rep to return my calls with a new installation date. Two month later, 3 scheduled days off work and installation dates with no carpet, 55 calls to the warehouse in MD, only 3 calls returned to schedule new installation dates, 8k fully paid, 5 calls to management, 1 hour wait time for a voicemail to the rep who sold me the carpeting, with no return call … Furious. Being gracious and accommodating was more than insufficient. Am furious, paid up, and still no product installed.

Customer # **. Previously I utilized EMPIRE Carpet and was very pleased and recommended them to family and friends, who gave them business as well. I even requested the same sales representative thinking they would do the exact measurements as previously, however he measured again and we placed another order.
This installation was installed improperly due to the carpet being cut incorrectly. The installer informed us that it was improperly cut and would require more seams. However we had it installed anyway because we had our entire downstairs furniture removed awaiting the install which took several hours. The seams are only feet apart from each other due to being cut improperly. The quality of the carpet is poor as well. Now, the seams are pulling up, the carpet has waves in it and it's very noticeable. There are only two of us in my residence and it is NOT a heavy traffic area.
I contacted EMPIRE via email and requested a service representative respond out to look what can be done. I had specific instructions from EMPIRE as to how pictures were to be taken of the seams and forwarded to their customer service Abigail. EMPIRE responded out and the service representative agreed with the improper installation as well and said he would speak/refer with his supervisor about it. Now I'm informed by Abigail after requesting the status a few times, there is nothing they will do to remedy this situation. I've emailed CEO Keith Weinberger and Director of Sales Rick Boysen regarding my complaint.
Franny, we take your concerns seriously and will be in touch with you soon to discuss your carpet concerns.

The sales rep was really nice. He was good and very informative. I got the high end of the vinyl, wood panel type flooring installed in two bedrooms, a hallway, and a dining room. Empire scheduled the installation right away, and it was done pretty quick. The installers did the work from 8:00 in the morning till 6:00 in the evening. The flooring looks really nice. I was told that I can't use steamer on the flooring but then somebody else said I can. So I'm a little confused on that.
The only thing was that when I asked if they would help me move the aquarium, they said no. It's a large aquarium and I can't move it myself. I have a 150-gallon aquarium and had to take my fish, put them in a cooler the night before, and I ended up losing quite a large amount of fish. That was a little troubling for me because I had to empty it completely. I was fortunate enough that the guys did move it but it got a little complicated. Other than that, they did a great job. As a matter of fact, I'll be using Empire again when I do my kitchen and laundry room and my little nook area.

We had two rooms with carpeting from Empire Today. We liked the quality and the price. Mark, the rep, was terrific. He was very thorough. There were a couple glitches where we couldn't reach someone that was supposed to deliver the carpeting, and they didn't have us down. Then someone pulled some strings and got it rearranged so they could come and deliver it that day. So mostly, the experience was good. We were pleased with the install. The installers were efficient. I like the texture of the carpet. It's supposed to be stain-free. But if I spill something, I'm having trouble getting that out. Other than that, I've been satisfied with it.

We used Empire before in our old house, and we were pleased, so we went back to them. We had them put carpet in a couple of rooms in our condo. I called them up and the sales rep was there on time. The timing was perfect. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. He explained everything up front, including the financing packages and the promotions. It was all very painless. The price of the flooring was comparable if I was to do it myself. I didn't have to do it myself, so it worked out well. The installers were dynamite. We had a couple of tweaks they had to do on the fly, and they accommodated us and explained the extra charges that may happen. They were reasonable with the extra charges and the job came out perfect.

Empire Today did a good job and I was pleased with the pricing. We've been wanting new flooring, and I had a couple people come out. The couple flaked. One didn't give me a price but came out. Then, all of a sudden, a little while later, I got an email. I always delete that crap, but it said Empire was doing the 50/50/50 and in my other house, I got flooring through Empire. So, I looked online and I saw good deals. I was pretty pleased with that. Things took a lot quicker than I anticipated. I had to come up with the five grand to give them upfront for the quarter down, and they were gonna start that week. I said, “Well, wait. I need to make sure I can come up with $15,000 right away.” I was the one that had them wait an additional week. Then, the install only took two days.
I really liked the feature that they have on the website where you can put any floor and check what it's gonna look like in your space. I couldn't do that with the flooring that I wanted though. I changed my mind so many times on what I wanted to put in here. That’s kinda what held it up, too, because I couldn't visualize it in my space. So, if I could have seen this flooring to begin with in my space, I would have been quicker in getting it done. Otherwise, I'll use them again.

The installers got the work done as soon as they could within the timeframe. Everything was fine. I like that the flooring is going to be easier to clean and it looks better.

My first time with Empire Today was good. But I'm not real happy with the second time. During the first time that they came in, they were fast and they did a great job. Everything was fabulous. But the second time, I'm having an issue with one floor and I’ve called them four times now. They still have not returned my phone call. When the salesman was here, I gathered that it was gonna be a one-day job. But it turned into a three-day job. On the half bath, they ran out of the matching trim and it was supposed to have some kind of leveling agent on that floor. But now, since they didn't do that and with the type of floor I got, it buckles. Also, the trim has duct tape on it and it's holding the trim up. But the rest of the three floors they did was fantastic.

On September 2021, I needed my living room, my hallway and my stairs to get done. The sales man came give me a price on everything. They said they will come in two weeks to do the installation. The installation will be on Friday. I took a day off at work just for that. On the day before in the evening, they called me and said that the materials are not ready, they have to reschedule in two weeks. So I waited in two weeks. When the day arrives, I was waiting for the installation. I waited, waited, then I called the lady who called me four days in advance to confirm that they will arrive that day. When I called her, I said, "No one showed up, I am waiting" and "What time they will come?". The lady kept saying, "They are scheduled to come today." Then she gave me a customer number to called.
When I called, I had to wait for 45 mins on the phone to reach someone. When I finally found someone on the phone, she said, "The materials are short. They are not coming to do the installation." I called the lady back, the one who confirmed with me that they will come. She said, she does not know about that. This company is very unprofessional, very unfair, no consideration to others. I took a day off, they don't show up, and cancelled the second time not even called me to tell me that they are coming. I don't recommend this flooring company to no one. They suck, they don't care about people. Don't take your chance with them. Bad, bad, bad.... No one knows what they're doing in this company.

On 8/28/21 we went on vacation for a week. When we returned one of the thresholds was coming up on both ends (Error #2). We immediately notified Joe ** (Mr. ** is the man who sold us the wood laminate) and ET of this. Several weeks, numerous telephone calls, and threats of lawsuits later we were promised a return call in 3 to 5 business days. We received no such call (Error #3). Finally on 10/8/21 a nice lady told me that someone would be out on 10/14/21 and they would call with a more precise time. I would not recommend Empire, not even to my worst enemy. After what seemed like a smooth consultation, we agreed to go with empire to install SVP flooring throughout our two bedroom one bath apartment. We were given an insider tip to buy our baseboards at a nearby warehouse and assured that the Empire Today installers would install it. Not only were we told the wrong amount needed (both my husband and I wrote it down and confirmed with the man doing our measurements) but on day of installation the installers were not told about the baseboards.
After clearing up the first miss communication about the labor, we were told on the second day that we would need 50 more ft of baseboard, so we went and bought more. The job was left incomplete. It has now been five days and I have not heard back about finishing the job. Over the past two days I have called and talked to multiple people to try and get this finished just to be transferred to the next person, I have left multiple messages and still have heard nothing about when the job will be finished. I did receive an email asking to pay my invoice. They want me to pay for an unfinished job.
At one point my husband was told to see if where we got the baseboards would finish the job for us. WTF! Not only is the job unfinished, but they left scratches all over the new product. The strip securing the floors and bathtub to avoid moisture seeping between the two is also lifting. Do not put yourself through the headache and frustration that comes with hiring this company. I wish it were possible to rate zero stars.

The first problem I had with Empire was when I ordered for them to come in for a free estimate, they never called me so I ended up missing my appointment. I had to reschedule it and that pissed me off. I told the people at Empire to call my phone and they said they did, but they didn’t. I asked them three times if they had my number and they kept saying yes. I gave them my phone number back to back. When I called back to make sure the appointment was coming through, the lady I talked to told me that they had the wrong number. I was moving to a new apartment and I wanted to get the carpet before I got my furniture. But I had to go the other way around.
The guy who came to me to do the free estimate was fine and so was the guy who did the carpeting. But when I did the carpeting for my bedroom, my floor wasn't level. I didn’t know that would make a difference. I closed the door in the bedroom in and out and it was not closing all the way with the rug. The installer was about to walk out the door and he wasn't gonna tell me what was wrong. That was horrible. If you're going to use Empire, stay on top of them. So, we did have a hard time getting ahold of the sales rep to get the installation scheduled. But he was able to make it happen once we were able to get ahold of him.
I got an email for a $200 coupon and then once I did the change of address, there was a $500-off coupon. But I was charged the full price and didn't get anything off of the price when they did the full payment because I paid the 25% to schedule. Then on the day of the install, they did the remaining amount, but they didn't take off the amount that they had emailed me. I've called and I've sent an email about it and no one has responded.

Karen came out to do the quote and she was amazing. She knew the product and the best ways of going about what we were looking for. She was pleasant and courteous. What we got and what we paid for what we got was matched up. The installation was good. The only thing was that we were the second client for the day, so the installers were here a little bit later than I'd rather them be.

Empire had what I wanted in stock and I had a two and a half week window between when I bought the house and when I was moving in, and they could get it done in the time frame I needed. The sales rep was very knowledgeable and he talked me through everything. It was very comfortable back and forth. He answered all my questions. There were two installation days. On day one, the installers called me when they got here. They got here before they sent out the warning, "Hey, your people will be there soon." So, they got here before I expected. Fortunately, I live right around the corner. So I jumped and I met them here. They held up what they brought and confirmed that it was what I wanted. I walked them through the rooms and made sure everything was good. We went over the paperwork and I did the final payment.
The installers did their thing and then called me at the end of the day. I swung by, viewed it in all of its glory. I signed the paperwork for day one and they left. They came back to finish a little bit of the trim stuff that they didn't have enough materials for on day one. Then, for the second round for the last outstanding bedroom, the guy came out, did the same thing, showed me the stuff, and I showed him where the bedroom was and what needed to be done. They took care of what needed to be done, had me come in and review it at the end, and it was all good. Empire definitely met my expectations. The floor is beautiful, and things got done quickly. There was open and honest communication. If I had questions, they were willing to answer.

We got new carpeting from Empire Today and the installation and setup were good. We wanted it in a rush and we had even asked for it like four weeks back and they had scheduled. Then, the day before the scheduling, somebody called us and said that our carpet was not in stock. That was a little bit of a shock for us. They were nice enough to bring the carpeting, but the one which we had chosen was a higher quality and it was on sale. The one that was available is a good quality also as the sales guy said, but it was not on sale, so we ended up paying the same amount. My husband and I felt that it was a little inferior to the carpet we had chosen.
We are disappointed because it is not the quality that we wanted. We were not given a choice because we were called the day before our schedule saying that the carpet we had ordered is out of stock. It's not nice to call you the day before whenever you scheduled it to tell you that the carpet is not available. It's not their fault either., but we were not even given any discounts.

During the last rain storm one of my daycare rooms got water damage. The rug was starting to stick and I had to get it pulled up and something done in the room. After taking everything out either to junk or little to reuse it was suggested on one of those sites that make recommendations for pros. I called Empire and the sales rep came the next day with a start date in just a few days. Unfortunately that is where the service ended.
First, there were nails and dirt left everywhere in the driving area of the facility and the daycare room. It took me over three days to clean that room and any room connected to it. The trim around the new floor looks like I have paint porches to the kids and I told them to try and paint within the lines. The trim looks like a two year old try to put pieces together but could not line them up and paint is everywhere. The floor I was told would be levels, only pictures can truly show that it is a mess and the carpet on the stairs, the guy must have cut the carpet wrong and used it anyway as I have a huge cut n between the stair steps where it is suppose to be solid. To top it off they emptied the cement bucket on my new sod and down the water drain for excess water from my gutters! I would never suggest them or use again!

Updated on 10/21/2021: I wrote my original review job half done on Sept 20, 2021 where Empire responded quickly and a month later I have received no call from empire regarding my molding. I would never recommend this company anyone.
Original Review: I ordered flooring from Empire Today. The sales man was great. Took my order but told me I could purchase my own wall base and that they would install it to save some money. I thought that was a great idea so that that we were going to do but we got hit with my daughter needed surgery so I had no time to purchase on my own so I texted the salesman and asked how do I add wall base to my order 2 weeks before installation was to be completed. He the sales man answered after 2 day that he was away but would be able to add the wall base to my order.
Day of installation lo and behold no wall base the order was never put in. The men installing ran out of bull nose trim and had to come back. I spoke to my sales guy sent him pictures to show him there was no wall base. He said when they come to finish they will have the wall base. 2 weeks later they come back to finish the job but lo and behold still no wall base. I called the sales guy on the spot with being sent to a full voice mail every time. The men working at my house called their manger and I spoke to him and also sent him the message where the sales guy said will add wall base to my order.
Finally my sales guy calls me back and states there has been a confusion and that he doesn't know why my order did not go through. He assured me that he replaced the order and after sept 6 I will get a phone call to install my wall base. Well, its sept 20 today and I have called give me a reference number and tell me a manager will call back within 24 hours. NO MANAGER HAS CALLED YET. I HAVE 4 OF THESES REFERENCE NUMBERS so 4 times I have waited to get a call back and I get nothing. I also have tried to call and text my salesman since the week of sept 6 and no answer. So I spent $5000 and my rooms terrible because they look unfinished.

The whole process with Empire Today was pretty terrible. They're still not finished doing our vinyl planks. When we called to set up the appointment, they answered the phone right away. They were able to set up an appointment for later that week. They were here on time. When the gentleman came to talk about the product, he was very knowledgeable in what he was able to tell us. However, when we asked them for the quote on the flooring, he told us that he could verbally give us the information. But he was not able to leave anything with us for us to make a decision. We needed to make a decision right on the spot if we were going to purchase that day. And if we decided not, then we would have to have another person come out and do the interview all over again. The pricing he gave us was not valid for anything more than his visit.
That was the first issue that we had. We felt very pressured into purchasing it. There was no time to shop around or decide or even have much of a private conversation between my husband and myself. We ultimately decided that we would get the products from them because it was the price range that we were looking for, and he was here. We figured we might as well just move forward with it anyway. So, we did.
They scheduled the install for two and a half weeks after that visit, which was fine. When the installers were set to come, we got no information, no follow-up. The gentleman that was here told us that they would be here on the 13th of August. We didn't hear back from Empire Today until that morning at 8 AM. There was no reminder. There was no confirmation. There was nothing. We got no emails.
They texted us saying that our installer would be arriving that morning. When they got here, they did seem like they were doing a pretty good job. They had most of the lay-down done fairly quickly. But then one of the guys left, leaving only the other guy to finish the job. When they said that they were finished, there were parts of the trim that were not installed properly. There were parts of the trim that looked awful. There were parts that went underneath the vents in the house that were not completed.
Before they left, they did say that they would come back to finish one part of the trim that they didn't have enough material to finish. So, that was fine. They said that somebody would call me to schedule the rest of the install. A week and a half went by with no phone call. I called the company multiple times. They did not get back to me. I called them for 11 days straight. I finally got somebody on the phone and I told him everything that was going on.
They were under the impression that our order was closed, and it was not. I emailed them pictures of the issue. They said that they would send somebody back out. That guy got here. He did not have proper PPE. They literally wrapped their shirt around their face instead of having a proper mask to come into my house. The trim is still cut incorrectly where there's gaps around on the flooring, and they left without finishing the kitchen.
The kitchen needs to be ripped up and redone because there's divots. There's soft spots where when you step on it, you kind of sink down further. It's not a firm floor. That was something that we explained to the guy before he left here that day. He said that he would have to have somebody come back and look at it. So this has been a nightmare with them.

Empire Today installed carpet and put in the Scotchgard and several kinds of padding that they had for animals. Then we had an emergency so we had to leave. Unfortunately, on the day we had to leave, my sister knocked over a bucket that I was cleaning the bathroom with and it went onto the floor. I measured it 20 x 20. We cleaned it up and did everything we could possibly do. We then left for another three days for the emergency.
When we came back, it was Labor Day weekend, and of course, we couldn't get ahold of anyone. We did speak to one person that said to call the next day. Then I've talked to several managers and they said that they would give it to their team. However, no one called me back yet, and I have extended warranty on there. I also talked to my insurance, State Farm, and they said that it'd be better to go through Empire, because they just put the carpet in, and maybe they could come out and do a 20 x 20 piece and fix the situation.
Even though the installers were good, the staff and the help that we're getting is 0. They also made us pay extra money for a warranty. It would be so easy for them to come in and rectify the situation. They have all the pads, and we're not able to do any of that, because I can't go into the home. The carpet is sitting there collecting bugs and mold and mildew, and I'm disabled, so I can't be around that. We tried to call someone, but they said that they would not come for just a 20 x 20 small square leading out to the bedroom. Overall, we're very dissatisfied and we'll never use them again. All my friends know not to use them because they know that I'm not in my home because of this. It's very inconvenient.

There was a major screw-up in our carpet order with Empire because the original carpet that we selected wouldn't work in our situation. The installers came out, got the carpet all loaded up ready to install, and said, "We can't install this." There were some areas that needed the carpet to bend around, a stair step. And the carpet that was originally sold to us was too stiff. We couldn't bend it. So, they took it back. I had to get the sales rep out again and pick out a different carpet. They had to do it again. There are a couple of areas in the flooring that I'm not satisfied with, but overall, it's good.

The salesperson of Empire came out and showed me the different samples and let me choose from those. He explained everything and how the process would work and told me that they could do it in a day’s time after he measured and showed me. I narrowed it down for the first four colors. He explained everything at a price that’s worked. He told me Empire would finance and I could do that if I didn't have the money to pay for it and set up payments. So, I felt comfortable that they went over everything. I also like that they have a big variety of colors and styles that I can choose from that will match my canvas and decor that I had in the kitchen.
We have a refrigerator-freezer with a water thing. He explained we’d have to have that disconnected and they would move the refrigerator. They moved my dishwasher out. He went over all of that before I made my decision and I liked that, ‘cause I know what to expect. I chose the date and the time that I want it done according to my schedule. And that was really good ‘cause I had a chance to get things moved and get somebody in to do all of it. That was very professional.
The salesperson knew I wasn’t upfront before he made a decision. Then he told me, “If you change your mind, you have three days to change your mind and cancel.” If I ran into a problem, if something came up that I had to change the date or the time, I had a chance to call them. They would work with me and change it around. I like that. I have told other people about Empire, how professional they were. When they promise they can do it in a day, they come and they do it. They tell you everything that you have to move and do. So, when they come in, they can just get started.

Empire was a little more expensive, but it was worth the convenience. We’ve used them before as well, so we know that it's a good company, and we're satisfied previously. We recently repainted the kitchen, so I had specific colors in mind, and I told that to the sales rep. He went out, got his sample book, and we went right to it. We had some vinyl flooring installed in our kitchen. The installers took off the old flooring, which was here for about 40 years. There were a few doorways that it entailed, and my only complaint was that when they cut the saddles that connected to the other doorways, a lot of times, strips of the metal were left around. There was even a couple of pieces out in the grass. But otherwise, they did a great job. I like how it looks. If walking barefoot on it, one could tell that it's vinyl, but it really looks like tile. Many people come in and ask, “This is vinyl?” It worked out very well and I was very pleased with the product.

So, we went with the thicker mil products. The installers came in and they moved things. They got the carpet out, sanded the floor in certain areas, and they started putting it down. He could have listened a little better. Then I knew the flooring I wanted and the color so I got the luxury vinyl. Four gentlemen came between 8:00 and 8:30 to do the installation. Only one spoke English and he was very readily available for all questions. All four of them worked like a well-oiled machine and they worked great together. I was happy with the care that they took. Ricardo was the lead tech and he left me a cell phone number in case there was something that I saw. I have always been the person to sort of roll my eyes at extravagant complaints, thinking there must have been some kind of miscommunication or over exaggeration. I was wrong. I was naïve to believe that established companies would blatantly lie or flat out refuse clear communication to their customers. We signed a contract with Empire for vinyl flooring. In our living room we had laminate flooring and a 9x12 carpet inlay. We specifically asked the sales rep how they would fix the difference in level and he assured us there would be no additional charges.
When the contractor came he said they would not be demoing anything and instead be gluing the new vinyl on top of the old floor and he would purchase plywood to fill in where the carpet was and this would cost an additional $500. Now, I’m not going to ramble on about this ongoing argument with them. Empire refuses to provide an itemized receipt for the additional charges we specifically told the contractor we would not sign for and a deduction for the demo they didn’t provide. The contractor himself said “yeah, a lot of people we see have issues like this with Empire”. The customer service harasses us weekly, each time a different associate and never receiving any kind of confirmation on the communication with the previous person. If you email them, they just call, even when I requested documented communication.
I beg you, support small business. With the current economy, unemployment, the best thing you can do for yourself and your community is to not use these big box corporations. The contractor hired by Empire, PHENOMENAL. Empire is rude, unprofessional and incompetent. From their sales reps to their management. It is very clear the entire company has piss-poor communication even within their own departments. I promise you will not gain anything from a company at this scale that you would not receive from your local provider.

I would have appreciated the call before I took a day off from work. I am extremely disappointed with the service and lack of communication displayed on the behalf of Empire Today. Charles ** misled me to take a unnecessary day off from work when he emailed me stating the needed materials were in and that the installation would be completed. This process has been beyond disappointing, as of today no one from Empire Today can give me a definitive date of when the materials will be in the warehouse and when my installation will be completed.
Original Review: Empire Today has not completed the flooring installation as agreed upon and is unable to convey a definitive answer of when the installation will be completed. Empire Today is not responsive to my phone calls, voicemails or inquires of when the installation will be completed. On August 24, 2021, I met with Empire Today Sales Representative Shawn ** (**) at my home where I was presented several flooring options for my 3-floor townhouse (2100 square foot). I selected the engineered hardwood flooring (Cambridge Chestnut) to be installed in my basement, two hallways, three bedrooms, one bathroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, and two sets of staircases.
August 26, 2021, the contractors came to my home to complete the installation. Luis ** (**) was the lead contractor that I interacted with. On August 28, 2021, the contactors informed me that they needed to order additional materials to complete both sets of staircases and that those materials needed to be ordered and once the materials were ordered, they would come back and complete both sets of staircases and complete the trim for the flooring. The contractors could not indicate how long it would take for the materials to be ordered or were unable to inform me of when they were able to come back to complete the job and that I would need to contact Empire Today to find out when they could come back to complete the installation.
On August 30, 2021 I initially contacted Empire Today’s customer service (877-588-5217) and was unable to reach a representative. I then contacted Alvero (**), the contractors’ supervisor and left a message only for him not to return my phone call. During August 30, 2021 to September 8, 2021, I have called Alvero 3 times and he still has not returned my phone call. I have contacted Empire Today 26 times and no one has been able to give me a definitive answer of when the contractors are coming to my home to complete the job.
As of September 9, 2021, no one from Empire Today has been responsive to return my phone call with a definitive answer of when the installation will be completed. I have contacted the following individuals from Empire Today’s Baltimore regional office several times and no one has been responsive:Christopher ** (Market Place Manager) – 877-588-5217 extension **

I told the sales representative what I was looking for and he had the samples. The flooring that I liked was reasonable. Then the installation was interesting. I understood in the contract that the installer would move the furniture, which specifically said to move the furniture out of the room. It was part of the $200 price. The installer started working in the bedroom and my mattresses were there ‘cause I couldn’t pull them out. He decided that he was just going to move the furniture from one side of the room to the other. I figured he was gonna put a tarp because there was dust when he was pulling things up so I had to point that out.
He had started the job and pulling up and laying the floor. I told him that the dust was getting into my mattresses. He should take the mattress like I originally said and put it in the hallway or in the garage. Then he said no and he would just cover it up. His partner went out and got some plastic and they put it over the furniture and the mattress. But I thought that was unprofessional and I didn't expect that because I had other flooring done in my kitchen, in my living room, and I didn't have to worry about dust getting into my mattress. For some reason, I don't have to tell someone how to do their jobs. They should already know what to do. Other than that, I would recommend Empire to other people.

Had them install ceramic tile in my home, $18K. The installers were careless and at times confrontational, they had little interest in providing a quality product. Per sales rep, the installation would take less than a week; the project took well over three weeks, much of that time my bathrooms had no toilets. Had to hire a plumber to repair damages the installers caused in two bathrooms. Empire Today has offered to pay 50% of the $720 plumber's repair bill. This is after one of their managers agreed to cover all of the plumbing cost, as documented in an email I received from the manager.
It would seem that Empire Today has no issue with reneging on an agreement. The most recent issue is the installation of a transition strip between the newly installed tile floor and one bedroom that still has carpet. Because the sales rep failed to state in the sales contract that they were to provide a ($10) transition strip they used chalking to fill the 1/4 inch gap between the carpet and new tile floor. Ponder that for a moment, to save $10 on this $18K flooring job they used chalking on my carpet. This issue still remains unresolved.

It was good. We like the new flooring and we are looking forward to using it down the road. It's in a room that we use for company, primarily. So we're very excited about that. Empire did an excellent job and we liked doing business with them.

We knew the color that we wanted and the kind of carpet that we were looking for so we let the salesman know that and then he gave us the samples based on that. The installers called when they were on their way and they got here on time. They came in and they got to work immediately. They were just about their business and they weren't fooling around. They cleaned up nicely and they had us take a look to make sure everything was good. It's a really nice carpet to walk on.

The salesperson was very informative. He showed everything we needed to see, how everything broke down, and how it would work. The only problem we had was the installers didn't speak a word of English so it was hard to communicate with them. Besides that, everything was fine. They took care of everything. We are very happy with our new carpet.

The price of Empire was right. It was lower than other companies. The experience was very easy and hassle-free and the installers were great, too. I love the carpet. I like the look of it. The floors from Empire are beautiful. However, the process was a little bit frustrating because our first pick ended up coming in as the wrong floors, and they said they couldn't get those floors. So we had to have someone come back out. We had to re-pick the floors. We had a few days with just cement. When my floors were all put in, they're beautiful.
The installers of Empire Today were very friendly and professional. Both groups that ended up coming into the house to work did a wonderful job. I’m very happy with the installers. But I have an issue that I called about, that I'm waiting for a callback. The floor feels fine in most areas, but then there are two spots, one in the small hallway area that leads into the master bedroom, and another one in the master bathroom, where when we walk across the floor, it feels like it's not in contact with the floor because it feels like the floor is gonna lift. It doesn't have a separation at all, it just feels disconnected. It's like you're walking on plastic. I don't know if there's anything they can do about it.

The sales representative from Empire Today was very knowledgeable, kind and seemed liked she wanted to try to get me the best for my buck. The installation was great. The guys were a little late because they got caught up doing something else but once they got started, they worked all the way through until it was done. They did a quick and professional job and it looked good. I like the look, the feel and color of the floors, which was kind of light brown.
I was very satisfied with the plank flooring but I had to cancel the other flooring I ordered because they played around with the order too long. There was supposed to be a vinyl part to that order. The sales person calculated the price with the vinyl plank and the actual vinyl for my kitchen and my restrooms. But when the guy from Empire came to install the plank, they had to wait on me to take my cashier’s check back to the bank. All they wanted was the amount for the plank. So I went back to the bank and I had the check rewritten. The vinyl people came back and they called me in advance this time. They told me when the vinyl was. One of the representatives said it would have been fine anyway because they were gonna deduct it from the cost of the check and do what they had to do with it. But these guys weren't experienced with that.
When the vinyl time came, the other guys had to reschedule my vinyl and they scheduled for August the 10th. I didn't know that until it wasn't even a whole day before the installation was supposed to happen. They called me on the evening of the 9th to tell me that they had to reschedule because they didn't have anybody in that area that put down vinyl. So, they rescheduled me for the 30th of August. Me, my wife and my kid pulled everything out of the kitchen to give them a little bit less work to do. They called me the day of the 30th and told me they didn’t have anybody to put down the vinyl and they didn’t give me any warning. Each time that they call, they didn’t apologize for the inconvenience. They just called to reschedule. It was poor business and I didn’t like the way it happened. I told them to cancel and I would find somebody else to do it, which was what I did.
Vincent, we regret to hear that your installation did not take place as planned. We understand that your order has been cancelled per your request. If you continue to have questions and/or concerns please contact us at customersupport@empire-today.com.

Today, I noticed that the place where the seam is started to unravel. Evidently, something went wrong. So, I called. I was on the phone for three hours. They kept on saying, "Don't worry, we'll get to you.” Three hours passed by. I threw the phone down. I'm 89 years old. I can’t take it anymore. It’s a long time. I just sat there. When I started the phone call over again, I got somebody who gave me a number and said somebody would give me a call. As far as trying to get some information with respect to when would we get a delivery date, a non-delivery date with this problem now, it's an impossible situation. They don't answer the phone. I had to get on the phone and then I was on hold for a while. That was a big deal because I work from home and I had some important things going on at work and that took me away from what I needed to do. But it was resolved after a while and there were no problems with the installation. I like the job that they did especially the guy that installed my blinds. He looked at another blind just because I asked as I was having some problems with it. He was willing to do that during the time and that helped me out a lot. Just from that, I would recommend even the blinds to other people.

Empire Today replaced the carpet in my living room, dining room and master bedroom. Less than a year and a half later, the carpet was loose and bunching up. It was not installed properly, according to other carpet professionals. Empire scheduled a (fairly expensive) power stretching to resolve the problem. They have canceled at least four times, once without even a phone call. When I try to call them, no one answers, and no one responds to my messages. We moved our furniture out of the rooms in anticipation of the carpet repair, and have lived with this mess for over a month, while Empire bails out on appointment after appointment. Tried calling again today several times, and left messages, but I'm not expecting a call back. They don't really seem to care about the gigantic mess they've left us with. I'll have to hire some actual carpet professionals to come fix my carpet since Empire won't do it.

I had carpet in my dining room and hallway installed. However, my carpet is still messed up. It’s supposed to have been installed on August the 14th. Got a call saying that the person called off sick, so they wouldn't install it. Then they came to my house on Monday to install it. I called back and told Empire Today not to do Monday through Friday because I work, to reschedule on the 21st. But they still came to my house to install it. My mom is 82 years old. So I told her to tell them that they couldn’t install it and to not let them in because I didn't want anybody in there with her. They came out Saturday. I got a call at 4:00 that they would be there soon. There were three young gentlemen. They installed the carpet. When they left, everything looked okay. But the more we walked down the hall, the more it started bubbling. So I have waves in my hallway.
They said that they would have to come out, re-stretch and reseam it. Because I couldn't shut my bathroom door now because it's all bubbly, and the carpets that they seamed together is all pushed up. Also, they ended up putting a tack strip right there by my kitchen and dining room instead of taking the wood up. And there were several instances that we stepped on a tack strip. So I have reached out to people.
I just sent another email to this Wayne guy that had reached out to me, because I told them about it, and sent out a repair. And they told me it would be in three days, but that never happened so I called again. And they said they must have lost my repair sheet. So they redid it again. I got a call and it was supposed to be set up for September the 9th. But I got a call on September 2nd saying that they would be at my house. They have one job ahead of me. I said that was not what I was told. Also, “If they come, I need at least a half hour so I can go home. Because it's during the week, I work.” They came to my house without even calling. And the guy came in, looked at it and said, “I don’t have a seamer and a stretcher, so I'll be back.” I haven't heard from anybody.

My father had carpet put in with Empire Today and I saw the outcome of it. I gave them a chance because it was something that I wanted. Once the sales rep came out, he was very professional and patient with what I wanted here and with helping me with the colors and everything that I needed to get things done. The floors were good but the inconvenience was terrible.
I took half the day off because I was told that it was gonna be a four-to-five-hour job. I worked at home so when the driver got here, he had a time finding where I was. When he found out where I was, he informed me that his truck would not fit in the garage and he would need to send somebody else because his truck couldn't get in. I told him that there were other ways for him to get in but he chose not to do that. I had water damage in my house so my whole house has been reconstructed. So, for him to tell me that he couldn't come in and do my floors because he can't get in the garage didn't sit very well with me, especially with my time.
So, Empire Today sent someone else out two hours later. He had a pickup truck and he was able to come in but I'm trying to figure out why he wasn't able to accommodate me at 8 o'clock that morning. Because when he came, he didn't leave till it was almost 6:00. It was one person and he did do a lot, and he did a good job. But the thing was, I work for FedEx and when he was in there working, I was dispatched and trying to do my job. So, it was a mess. Timing is so critical. I work with FedEx and everybody, once they phone, have medications and everything on time. If they're not able to accommodate, we’re gonna call ahead of time. We’re not gonna come to your house and say we can't deliver your package because we can't get in. That's not how it works.
Tina, thanks for making us aware of the issues with your install appointment. We’re personally looking into this matter and we’ll reach out to you soon.

On the third day, I finally got a head of the customer service and got his direct number. It had been rescheduled for Saturday. I had cleared my schedule from the week before, so I was not happy at that time.
The people that did the installation were great and prompt, but getting ahold of the customer service was terrible. I went through several different ways through the installation, through regular customer service, and all their lines and voicemails were filled. Nobody was picking up. I had three different companies come out to give me estimates, and they were all in the same price range, but the samples that were brought in from Empire seemed like a little bit higher grade of carpet. I thought it was weird, though, that when the installers came, I had to pay first, but they didn't have a way to just swipe my credit card. They had to call it in, and they were on hold with their own company for about 40 minutes. They couldn't start till the job was paid for, too, so they were just standing around on hold. In today's world, I thought that was kind of ridiculous. But other than that, they did really great work. Once they got the okie doke to move forward, they really worked. I was amazed how quickly they were done. I watched them. They didn't cut any corners.
It's a shame that every day, I get, “Guess what's on sale at Empire Today!” I'm like, “Man, I just bought carpet.” It's a little bit annoying that they make the customer take that extra step to unsubscribe from their daily emails that you didn't really ask for to begin with. You just gave them your email because you were their customer. It is a concern of mine that I don't get blown up with, “How's your experience with Empire?” Eventually, it's going to be, “It was great until they keep pestering me about it.”
The other thing is some of the scheduling was weird as far as trying to get in touch with them on the day that my installation was scheduled. My installers were running late and when I tried calling them, I was just on hold. They had a, “Do you want us to hold your place in line and call you back,” thing, and I said, “Sure.” They never did call me back. The installers got here and hours had gone by already. Empire could update their automated system that was probably cutting edge 10 years ago but is a little wonky right now. Overall, doing business with Empire was pretty good. All the people were great. The salespeople were knowledgeable and friendly. The workmanship and the quality of the product are great. It was just the technology side that needs to be fixed.

The installers arrived today and provided multiple excuses as to why they could not do the work. They stated the contract was not filled out correctly and it may cost more if they mess up my sub flooring. I provided a copy of my invoice stating the exact opposite of what he said. Updated on 04/23/2022: This is and update to my previous review of this company and problems with the kitchen flooring that they installed in August of 2020. Within 6 months of installation I had problems with several areas that had to be replaced. It took weeks to get them out to do so under warranty. Five Months later some of the same area that they replaced had to be repaired again and it took them 3 months to come out. The installer replace about 20 square feet of flooring with with flooring that was the same color but with a duller finish. I didn't notice the difference until after the installation was complete and when I called to report the problem I had to leave a message and my call was never returned.
When their sales people called to try to sell me again I told them I would never do business with them again because of all the problems. The contact in the sales department reported my comments to someone who called me back a few days later and told me they never new there was a problem with the repair and since it was now out of warranty they would not do anything about it. Their warranty department totally ignored my first report of problems and never contacted me on the first repair until I posted a complaint of ConsumerAffairs in 2021.
Original Review: We installed their deluxe vinyl plank flooring in our kitchen a year ago and it looked great for a couple of months. We had to have a section replaced after it started to come apart and that took us weeks to get through to their warranty dept. and schedule repair. The crew chief who came out to replace the bad section said it was never installed properly to begin with. It has now been a year and the planks are separating and lifting up in several areas.
They were supposed to come out to inspect and repair it last week and were a complete no-show after we waited all day for them. We got a call from one of the workers the next day who wanted to come out but we were not going to be home. He said he would be out by 8:30am this morning and it's 1pm and still no contact of any kind. I think the product and the installation were defective from the beginning. You cannot believe anything they tell you related to appointments and repair. Customer service after installation is pretty much non-existent.

I had Empire Today install luxury vinyl plank on concrete in a bathroom/closet area in the basement. The installation is ok, but in all honesty, a DIYer could do just as well, if not better. I was also going to have quarter-round baseboard put in the closet, I figured it's just a closet, but the installer didn't want to, said it wouldn't work well with the product being installed. He said they are allowed to install with up to a half-inch gap between the vinyl planks and the wall. Good to find this out the day of the install! Why offer it to me if it's not going to work!
Anyway, the install was adequate. I did need access to a clean out for the basement drainage system in the closet. The hole the installer cut out does not line up with the drain (frankly, if I did the install myself, it would have). At least it's in the closet and people won't be looking at it. I also was told by the salesperson they would leave behind the leftover planks when done install. This was a selling point because we have had flooding in the basement in the past, and it would be good to have some extra planks in case the others become damaged. Never happened. Feel mislead on this, and my communications with Empire Today make it clear they don't care.

I initially set things up for the sales call for my mom in Toledo and I made arrangements to meet down there. I live in Detroit and we went with Empire, so somebody will come out and make it easy. The sale went good. We signed, paid, then scheduled for three weeks out. When I didn't hear from them by Thursday for the next day install, I got ahold of somebody. I got through on the phone system then somebody finally called me back and explained that the rep wrote my phone number down wrong. Missed a digit.
Empire told me that they've been trying to get ahold of me, and because they couldn't, they canceled the install. When I set up for the sales call, every other day, I was getting an email, a text, and a phone message. They worked on me constantly to make sure that I kept the sales appointment, but when it came time for the install, they tried the number twice, and that was it. Never emailed. Nothing, so I got upset.
The rep who called me back was just doing his job. He didn't know what was going on and couldn't help me out much. I was going down the night before, and I'd already canceled a hotel stay that I lost. I set up a new time with this rep for the install. I did it on a Saturday, and he could not email me or give me any kind of a confirmation that I had a set appointment. He just said, “I will keep calling back and make sure that it's really there.”
The phone system is horrible. I left one message, and they called me back. They confirmed. This was two weeks out then I sent an email the next week, and they said, “Yup, you're scheduled.” Then I saw that they tried calling me the week of, and they left a 20-second message, but there was nothing there. I never know what number they're coming in on, and the one time I answered the call, there wasn't anybody there. It was just blank then I saw that it was the same number that they left a message. I called the number back 30 times that day, and I would get almost to the end of the spiel, and it would cut me off. That was on a Tuesday, and I was getting installed on Saturday.
On Wednesday morning, I called early (before 9:00), but I only got through to leave a message. Somebody called back five minutes later, and we set it all up, confirmed it all and I was all set. I was still hesitant because I was getting a room and traveling again. I got to Detroit on the Friday and they said, “Somebody will call you Saturday morning and tell you what's going on.” At 7:30, I got the automated call. “Your carpet has been loaded on the truck. There's one stop in front of you, then they'll be there.” One o'clock came and nothing. I called Empire Today, then they called the installer and said, “He'll be there within the hour.” It was two o'clock when the installer showed up and I was his third stop. There couldn't have been one stop ahead of me at 7:30 in the morning when I got that call.
The installer didn't have a helper, and he's worked the whole day by himself. He walked in and said, “Oh. I didn't know that there was furniture to move.” Luckily, I was there because I don't think my 82-year-old mother could have helped much moving furniture. The installer was put off that he had to move furniture, and it was just four pieces. I had everything else moved, and one piece wasn't going back in. I said, “I'll help you with it.” He said, “Okay,” then he said, “I’m not even sure I have enough carpet on my truck.” He was doing two rooms and a hallway. I was like, “Are you serious? We're gonna go through all this.”
Half an hour later, after he measured the house and then checked his carpet and rolled it out, he said, “I've got enough. Yup. I can do it.” He was there five hours and he was supposed to have done some transition trims, but he wanted to use the old ones. I said, “I was either way with the salesman. It didn't really matter. But it did kind of matter.” I said, “If you can at least change that one from gold to silver, I'll let the other ones go.” We did that. He changed one, and he left at 7:00. He was a nice guy, and he did a great job, but I would not use Empire Today again.
I was a contractor, and I just closed my business last October. I have referred so many people to Empire and had so many people use them. They all haven't been smooth, but they all told me they were okay and they were happy with the product. However, this was a horrible experience for me. I've talked to several of my customers since this ordeal and I said, “Hey, I gave you Empire. What was your experience?” Their biggest problem was they couldn't get ahold of anybody on the phone after the sale.

We had a nice light gray vinyl flooring installed for an apartment I was managing. I started out with Home Depot and they gave me a quotation on the whole business, which included removing the old floor. Underneath the old floor was rippling in the cement, and they said that they couldn't do the installation of the material that they had bid on, on that type of floor, without having the whole floor renovated. I told them, “You're not able to fulfill your contract, so I want a refund,” which they gave me. I then sought out Empire Today. It was a nice presentation and the lady that came out was also very knowledgeable.
Empire had a better way of solving the problem. They had to deal a little with the rippling in the bottom floor, the underlayment, but it was satisfactory and didn’t result in any bubbling in the flooring. There were always stuff that they had to come back and do that maybe they could have done with another half an hour on one day, but outside of that, we were very pleased with the installation and the workers and even with the price.

Empire's salesman was the best. He was knowledgeable and very personable. He brought the right sample, measured and did a fantastic job. He was in and out with a closed sale within 20 minutes. The installers then came in, moved the couch and installed the carpet. They came right to the baseboard, and they were quick. They made sure everything was okay before they left, then they were gone. I like the carpet, but I wish they would have gone a bit farther on one doorway. The carpet is under the basement door, and I didn't notice that they didn't go all the way to the piece of metal. Now, when you go down to the basement, there's a 2” gap of hardwood between the carpet and the piece of metal that is the first stair. All in all though, it's fine. I wasn't in the room to see the final and I take responsibility for not inspecting it.

Empire replaced my carpet twice in my other house and then the bottom floor and then did the top floor. When we had a problem where we had some sort of special carpet that if something happened to it, they will replace it, and they replaced it and also replaced the adjoining room so it matched. When we had our carpets replaced on July 1st, the installers broke our desk. I called customer service and talked to them that day. Two weeks later, I called them. They finally called me back about two weeks ago and the girl said, “Hey, I'm sorry it took me so long. I'm new.” She asked if I could send her pictures or a video. So I sent her a video that day. We also sent it a week later. But we have received nothing.

We had a good experience with Empire Today. Everything went great. The price and the available dates to do the install helped. It was an earlier date. The sales rep that we dealt with was great. He was very knowledgeable and patient. He was friendly too. The installers were great as well. They were very efficient. They looked good in timely fashion and they cleaned up. We got a vinyl product, like a wood floor style. But it threw me a little bit when I was signing off on the terms of the financing with the installers. I wasn’t expecting to do that. If I had a question about that, I don't really think the installer would have been able to really clarify anything. So to me that should have been done ahead of time. Empire could have explained that a little more clearly because they gave me an option to do two different kinds of financing. But it ended up being a non-issue.

I went to Lowe's and I was waiting for all the information. They were taking forever to get back to me, and I really needed to get new carpeting. I moved in and it was gross. With Empire Today, I got the carpet quickly. The cost is a little high, but I love the sales guy. He was great, and I was hoping to hear back from him. I have some concerns about my carpet. In my bedroom, I can see the definite distinction. It's got a grain to it, so it looks like the installers may have flipped it and didn't lay it all the same direction. It also looks like it's coming up on my stairway. I haven't really looked at it, but I can see it when I come up the stairs in my basement and it looks a little sloppy. I'm gonna call and tell Empire, but I'm slammed at work, and I haven't had time to look it up. In the grand scheme of things, with all the things going on in the world, it doesn’t seem to be that important. It’s just carpeting.

I've been trying to get ahold of them to refund my money. I've been talking to the guy that sold the flooring to me, and he's moved it forward. They said they would be there about 7 to 8:00. But they didn't show up till after 9:00 and it took them all day to move furniture, pull the carpet up, and do the two bathrooms. They had to come back Sunday and they didn't get through until almost 6 that night, which we had plans that we were supposed to do and we couldn't do because they had to come back. I purchased what I wanted. Empire Today had it. They did the entryway to my front door, kitchen, and bathroom. It's all vinyl planking. The reason that I installed it is I was gonna sell my house. For the estimate, the rep came right over, it was quick. And it was only two weeks out, which I thought was good. I was happy with that part of it. And the entryway and the kitchen were done good. But they did a rotten job on the bathroom. You feel it when you walk. It pushes down and it's uneven.
I thought they just put new subflooring down if it was bad. The bathroom had carpet. I didn't know what it looked like underneath. I figure once they pull the carpet up, they do it right. No matter if it took a couple of days. Instead they used the leveling which works good. But it has to be wet so it runs. They made like a cement. They put it on with a trowel. They were in a hurry. It was a Friday afternoon job. And it's just terrible walking that bathroom on. I'll probably lose money from that deal. But I'm happy with everything else. It looks nice.

We ordered flooring from Empire on April the 1st. We were told it would be in and when our install date would be. My husband and I took the week off and we loaded up our rooms. We got multiple rooms done so everything ended in a closet. A day and a half prior to the installation, a lady called and said the crew was not coming that day. The product we ordered didn't come in. When asked when it would be there, the lady didn't know but someone would be in touch with me. I constantly contacted the scheduling agent and she said kept saying she didn't know when the flooring would be coming.
All of a sudden, we got woken up 10 minutes before 7:00. The floor crew was at my house and they started coming in. We didn't have time to prepare and to put our pets up because no one called to tell us they would be coming. I had talked to the lady the day before this. I called to speak to her again. What happened was a big surprise. I would have been up, had a shower, and been ready if I had known the crew was coming. The lady basically said, “Too bad. It's your own fault if you weren't ready." And when I couldn't find my cat for hours, she said that was my fault.
That lady would be the reason I would never do business with the Empire again because she was rude and mean. She marred my experience with the company. On the whole, I had a great salesperson and the flooring crew did well. They did the work for multiple rooms in one day. But it would’ve been better if I had known they were coming. We sat outside for six hours on this awful day with two dogs.

Empire sends a team of four people and they all know what parts they have to do. They're efficient and very professional. They did my entire house in a day. I had vinyl plank flooring installed in the whole house, except for one room. It’s kind of a barn look. It’s very popular right now. It’s waterproof and it doesn’t scuff. I love it. That was a Monday and said that the carpet was not in, and it would be Tuesday before they got that in. But in the meantime, I had moved all the stuff off of everything. They came Monday and did the laminate. But they didn't come back until Friday with the carpet. So, I had all that mess all over my house all week. Once you arrange your installation, the day they show up, you must pay the balance of the cost, in full or they will not install. Then, when the project is done, if you have any problems with it, they CANNOT BE REACHED either by phone (endless wait times) or live CHAT, which is NEVER available - they are totally MIA. I feel abandoned totally by them for their substandard product, total lack of customer service and being overpriced, despite misleading (actually lying) to me about the product I bought being on sale. Avoid using this company at all costs. You are better off leaving your flooring the way it is than using them, plus there are many better alternate choices.

I didn't have a real good experience at all with Empire. It was a headache. When I got my call to say that it was going to be installed, they couldn't tell me what time that they were going to come. So, I thought that was strange. I understand you get a window, but they didn't even give me that. But no big deal because it was 8 o'clock in the morning when I got the call. I was thinking around a couple of hours, they’d put me in a window. To the point that it was 3 o'clock and I never got a call. It was getting late. I called the number that was on there. They had to try to find whoever is supposed to give me a window to do it. They told me that it'd be at 3:30, which was 3:30 when I was talking to somebody. So, I went along with that. Came 5 o'clock, no one ever called.
I called the number back. Then, the guy said that he couldn't do it today, that they'd do it first thing in the morning at 8 o'clock. We were talking on a Saturday. I thought that was strange. No one works on Sundays. But I was happy that they were gonna do it on a Sunday, so I went with it. Came Sunday, there was no call, no show. It was getting really hot then. I ended up having to take a day off, which I didn't have.
I called the guy Monday and they brushed it off. I knew it was a weekday, so I said, “I'm calling Empire myself.” I called and the guy came to the phone and told me somebody’s going to be out there today. I was going, “Oh good. Okay.” Eventually, they came that Monday and they installed it. But nevertheless, I was glad to get it over with. But I didn't like that experience.
When they found out that their people didn't leave a good impression, I expected Empire to call me and at least apologize for their installers’ mistake. I gave them a deposit. But before they even laid it down, they had their hand out for their money. I thought that was rude. You want your money upfront, but I couldn't get my service upfront and I didn't get an apology for them whatsoever. But I got my carpet, and my carpet and looks good.

The sales rep came to our house and was able to give us a quote and put the order. His spiel was good and his information was great. He pointed out some things and said, "You're selling the house. I recommend this kind of carpet.” We appreciated that because sometimes, when you're in the midst of selling, you don't know. But in the midst of the order, he did not put the full order. We ended up waiting. I got a call, and they said that the only order that we had was a little bit of a tile that we put in. It was just the entrance of our door. When we called, they said that he never put the carpeting order.
When the carpet came in, they did the job pretty quick but it was not the quality that I was expecting. I never called Empire Today back because I'm extremely frustrated with the fact that if I call, will they come and fix it? There are parts where we can still feel the nails. My husband and I had been going in corners and hitting a nail with a hammer, fixing it like that. But you can tell that it was a dollar store carpet. It literally feels like hardwood. The padding isn't thick enough. I didn't fully understand that it was going to be that low of a grade. The fact that I can feel into my feet, I hope that that's not a factor that stops us from selling the house.
The customer service was awful. It was very hard to deal with the whole situation. I would like them getting a little bit more training. When we called, the lady that talked to us was not helpful at all. I work for a company that often, my boss will say if you don't know the answer, say, “Let me figure it out for you. I'll get back to you.” It comforts the customer and makes them feel that you are gonna take care of their needs. But she wasn't like that. I will not probably hire Empire Today anymore.

When the sales rep came out, he did a good job of explaining the different processes. I could purchase flooring going through the bank and then pay for it without any interest if I pay it off. I had carpet in the master bedroom, master closet, living room, and dining room installed. Then I had scheduled for the tile. However, two days before the tile guy was due to come, I received a call from Empire saying that they didn't have a tile guy so that was canceled.
For the carpet installation, a first guy came out and the carpet that I purchased was almost white so he took off his shoes and respected the lay of the carpet. But he left and another team came. They brought their shoes and stuff and were stepping on the carpet. I had to kind of work with them through that. Then, when they were moving the bed, I tried to tell them how the bed was laid out. But when the guy pulled it, he broke one of the poles under it. Also, their family member came with them and she was just sitting there and standing on the carpet. It was not what I had expected during the second half of the installation. It was not as astute to how you go into people's homes. But the carpet was done well.

I had carpet installed in the bedrooms and the hallway. The rep was very good and the installation went well. There was a couple of confusion on things though. The installers told me that they would be out first thing in the morning but nobody came. So, I called the salesperson. I didn't get through to him right away so I called Empire themselves and they said that they were on another job and they would be there after. I waited and waited for a while and I finally got ahold of the salesman. He texted me and said he would check but he couldn't get through to anybody so I called again. The sales person said the installers were stuck on the job. They would have to reschedule. We went back and forth for a little while and finally, somebody ended up showing up late in the day. They were there until 9:00 o'clock at night but they finished.
The only thing that I didn't care for was instead of them moving something out of one room and then doing the room, they totally took everything and stuffed it in my living room so I had no place to go. I sat in my back area, which is like a screen room and it was chilly that night. I had to put a heater back there. But other than that, it was good and they were good.
I noticed a couple of days later that the carpet wasn't totally put against the wall on one of the back rooms but it wasn’t that big of a deal. Also, they had my front door open the whole the whole time, which I didn't care too much because I was in the back and I had my dog in the back. But when they started moving furniture back in, they left the door open. My dog ran out the front door so I had to yell to my dog to get back, which luckily, she did, because normally, she doesn't. Maybe she was more interested in them, wanting to see where they were. Otherwise, she would have been gone and I would have to chase her around the neighborhood. But that was just a couple of little things. Overall, it was fine. I like the durability of the carpet that I got for the back rooms where the kids are and the hallway and in my room. I upgraded the carpet so it's plush and nice.

We needed our stairways done and someone came out quickly. The rep measured and showed us samples and contracted to have it done. Then trouble started after that. It was supposed to be installed the following week on a Tuesday and we got a call the day before that they were going to be here at 8 am. Then, we got a text that morning that the carpet was out and was picked up but someone had another job before ours and they would be out later. Meanwhile, no one came all day long. I called and the rep kept telling me different stories. Finally, I was told the carpet never made it and they would do it the next day. The next day came and it was the same thing. I finally called, pleading that I sat home and missed work for two days, and they've got to put this carpet in. They promised me. It was finally installed and I think the carpet was in the whole time but they didn't have their act together to get it installed in the timeframe that was promised.
If you go with Empire Today, you might save a few dollars. But the installation is wide open and it's not fair. People who want to save a few bucks can certainly wait home but I don’t want to have that much disruption to save a few dollars. The number of different stories I was being told were awful. They changed the story every hour. They could have communicated better and told the truth. I don't know if I want to recommend them, with the trouble I had. But the salesman was great as well as the installers. It’s the customer service giving us false information.

I decided to give Empire 2 stars because the sales rep was AWESOME as was 1 of our installers. So, we started the project on July 5th with the goal of completing 3 areas of our home with 2 different materials (wood and ceramic). We started with the wood and initially it was going well and then 2 days in, the contractors are running behind because of not enough workers and overbooking. Initially not a big deal because the sales rep advised us of the shortage in workers due to the pandemic.
He needed to level out the space and quoted one price but later changed it; however, the loft was completed. Few things happened, the contractor for some unknown reason removed materials from our home, when we asked him about it he said he was trying to "clear up space for us" but left the other materials in the same area and then when he returned, the packages looked different but I didn't have any evidence to prove that they were different.
The contractor sent us a text stating he had issues with his truck and will be over as soon as he could, 8 hours later, no show. I called 5 times to customer service and they were confused. Now that, he is behind on his installation, they pushed back the install on my Kitchen. when the installer finally comes to finish the work he spent 4 hours at my home working on 1 stair and reports that he does not have the correct materials and when he called Empire they told him to just "nail it in" to get the job done but he didn't want to do that because that would be wrong. I finally hear from someone who said they would go ahead and order the new parts and get it done ASAP. At this point I think I have left 10 messages with little to no response.
Finally after a week of waiting we received an call notifying us of an installation on Friday (today), we called because it did not have a time frame and were advised to call on Friday morning to verify the time. After being on hold for 35 minutes, they called me back to say that they still don't have the part and are not sure why we were told of an installation for today. Now, they are affecting my money and my time because I rearranged my schedule for the 2nd time to make sure I was available today.
I have left 2 more messages and called 2 more times only to be told (this is my interpretation) That sucks, good luck, suck it up and wait, there is nothing we can do and we'll get to you at some point. In 5 days they will be out of compliance with the contract that I signed. So yeah. DO NOT USE EMPIRE. PAY THE EXTRA MONEY AND HAVE SOMEONE ELSE DO THE WORK.
Nytasha, thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We take your concerns seriously and regret to hear that you’re unsatisfied. We've located your order and will be in touch with you soon.

I used Empire once before to install carpet in my master closet. Small, easy job. They did well, so when we moved I hired them to replace all the upstairs carpets in our new home. They came as scheduled the first time. Installers worked all day and didn't leave until almost 11 pm. I noted on the paperwork that the seams were all visible and that they would need to be fixed.
The next day the installer returned. He said now that it was light out it was clear the company had sent him with rolls of carpet that don't match. Instead of a single roll from a single line, they were rolls with slightly different color, texture, pile height and density. The company said they could reorder the carpet and have them replaced. I said I wanted that done.
They delayed 3 times. The first time was because of rain. The second was because their installer didn't show up. I was pretty upset by this time because we were trying to move in and the entire time we're waiting for the carpets I can't set up bookcases or assemble my daughter's beds or order furniture. We spent two weeks on hold. The third time they simply didn't show up, no call, no excuse.
An installer finally came the following Thursday. We were incredibly relieved, and took him through to explain the situation and why the replacement was needed. He tore out all the carpet, started to put in the new carpets, and when he got to the first seam he told us the carpets were, again, mismatched. I called the local contact and asked what was going on, and she said, "I can request they send a single roll when I order the carpet, but I don't have any control over what they send." She said she could order the carpets again, but there was no guarantee they would send a single roll. I said that was unacceptable. Obviously they can't just install mismatched carpets, and keep reordering in the hopes that eventually they will get what they requested. It's absurd.
We discussed our options with the installer, and he said that he could talk to his manager, that they should be able to order the carpet that day (a single roll, he said the upstairs could be done with one roll so it would all match), and that if they ordered it right away it would get there Friday and they could install it Saturday. We said that would be great. So they left without installing the rest of the carpets, because they would just have to tear them out on Saturday.
In this entire experience, this installer was the only one who has exhibited any concern for our needs and made any effort to provide us with the service we expected when we hired Empire Today. He knew the concern, he recognized right away that there was a problem with the carpets Empire ordered, and instead of mindlessly installing carpets he knew wouldn't satisfy us, he tried to work with us to find a solution that would make everyone happy. I'm so disappointed that Empire didn't follow through or show anything near the same concern as the installer they hired.
So they left on Thursday, with the expectation that the carpets would be ordered and installed on Saturday, and nothing happened. We were told the manager would call Friday. He didn't. The woman at the local office said the marketing manager would call me on Monday. He didn't. We started calling the local office on Monday and have received no answer, no call back. I started calling Empire's main office on Monday (July 26th). As with everyone else, each time I waited on hold for over an hour, was told they would try to get ahold of the local office, couldn't get ahold of the local office, would make a ticket, and then promised a call back. On Tuesday I explained that there are dozens of feet of exposed tack boards, literally hundreds of nails sticking up, with five kids in the house. My daughters have been sleeping on the floors for weeks.
All the upstairs furniture is packed into our master bedroom or the girl's bathroom. I can't walk to my bed. The girls can't walk through their bathroom. The doors are all still off their frames. On Wed I explained that they are exposing themselves to a lawsuit, leaving the nails exposed and doing nothing to remedy the situation. Each day I was told that I would receive a call back the next day. They said since there was a safety concern it would be dealt with quickly. And yet, not a word.
We have now been in this dangerous, unfinished state for a solid week. Not one employee from any office having anything to do with Empire has made any effort to reach out to us, despite the obvious urgency and the potentially disastrous ramifications if one of us were to be injured. They can claim to be concerned about our situations and say this doesn't meet their standards and promise to reach out soon. It's meaningless unless someone actually does something.
Pamela, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We're sorry this happened and we're looking into this. We'll reach out to you soon to discuss this further.

We got approved for financing and we got all that worked out when the guy that gave us our estimate came here. He held his little tablet out and I told him what day would have worked best for the installation. I saw him mark the day for us to get the flooring put in. Come to find out, it was the day of, and I called the scheduling department to find out what time that day they were coming because it was getting to be about noon. The rep got my name and said, "I don't see you guys on the schedule for today." Both my mother and I took off work that day for them to come do the floor. She apologized but they could tell we were upset so they ended up putting us in for that next day.
They had asked us what we wanted to do with our hallway because in our hallway, we had a vent in the floor. My mother and I told them, "We already talked to the guy who came to do the financing and estimate, and we explained this to him. He said that you guys bring all the supplies to do that kind of stuff, if there was more that was needed or a floorboard needed nailed down.” They all looked at us and said, "We don't do that. We strictly just come and put the floor in." My mom had to go buy another piece from Lowe's to bring home and to give them to use to do our hallway so they can do the flooring. That was another thing that was miscommunicated to us. The guy communicated nothing to the installers. From everything he said, the only thing he did right was show us the flooring and we picked out which one we wanted. Everything else, as far as information, scheduling and even what was needed to be done was completely opposite.
The quality of the work when it was done was good. However, I've been trying to get ahold of someone for almost four months now. I called to get someone to come out here to fix a piece of wood that snagged. But to get someone to come out here is a joke. Empire Today kept calling me and leaving me voicemails. I told them, "I don't know why you keep calling my cellphone. You need to call my mom's cellphone." I gave them her number numerous times but they still proceeded to call my cellphone. It wasn't even a real person because then I would call the number right back, literally seconds after they called me, and I will get straight to voicemail. I'm not happy. It's crazy. I have to go through these obstacles to get someone to come out and look at one piece of flooring.

The guy who came in the beginning was awesome to have carpet samples. He was knowledgeable and I was able to find what I liked. They tried to put me off for my installation though when I had moved everything out of my house. I had taken off work and they said that they needed to reschedule. I said, "Hey. No, you're not." And then, they had to do it for me. I was a little disappointed by that but they did make it right and got somebody out.
I love the carpet I had installed. But, I noticed I could see the seems going from my living room to the hallway and from the hallway to my bedroom and I was concerned about that. I didn't think that for four grand, I should be able to see the seems. The rep came and verified that something was wrong and that there would be an appointment made. There were a couple of speed bumps that I had to go over but I was happy with everything.

We knew exactly what we wanted so the rep from Empire brought in some samples. Once we noticed he had what we wanted, we didn’t even look further. We were doing the wood vinyl laminate, the wood plank laminate and the carpet. We had a timeframe in mind because we were remodeling our house and that was the last step. So, we had six weeks out as the timeframe for installation and because it was so far out, there was no issue with it.

Years ago, we had some water damage and Empire Today was who we went with. When I decided to put down another floor in the kitchen, I said, “Well, I'll just go with Empire.” But they had different salesman and different workers than what we had had several years before which I had a bad experience with Empire. Before my husband passed away, he tried to get Empire to come out and replace the floor because it came up. It cost 2,500 to put the floor down. I didn't care for the people they sent. Empire has a habit of hiring people who cannot speak English. I didn't know if they could read English or not.
I had bought and paid for an underlayment which was supposed to have been a subfloor to go under the stuff I had put down. The first guy that put the flooring down said I didn't need it. They left it at the company and they wouldn't go back and get it. They didn't do anything that they were supposed to that was written on the contract.
The flooring came up within the first 30 days. I had to tape it down. I stayed on Empire and I didn't let the issue drop because I knew they had to stand behind their product. Their manager told me she would have to get an okay from the manufacturer. I said that I didn't buy the floor from the manufacturer and I bought it from Empire. Empire started sending people and each one of them tore a piece of the flooring up even though I had others coming up. All of them said the same thing but they dragged their feet. When I called them the last time, I told the manager that she should make sure that whoever they send to my house could understand what I'm saying and that I didn't want any more of that, that they don't speak English.
Finally, the manager sent techs out to replace my floor. One of the techs Empire sent could speak fairly good English and he did mostly what he was supposed to do. He tore the floor all the way down to the board like the way the other guys were supposed to have done it when it was first put down and gutted. If I was going to put down some carpet, I'd probably call Empire. They came through and that's what matters.

I've used Empire numerous times and in the past, I used carpets most of the time. This time, I used flooring. I did one room in March and we had no problems at all. This July, we di another room and there wasn’t any problem with Empire or any of their workers or the installation but there was a delay in the flooring and I had to wait a long time to get it. They kept making a date and said they were gonna come in two weeks and that they were gonna get another shipment. The shipments never came in and when I switched to a different flooring just to get it, that was out too. So I wound up picking a third flooring. So, it wasn't their fault. Empire didn’t get their delivery so they couldn’t deliver to me. That was a fiasco but we’re all done now and it has all been taken care of. It just happened at the time because of the economy now and everything is crazy. I was in the middle of it. But other than that, I would use Empire and recommend them again.

In AZ we purchased glue down flooring that should lay flat, even and smooth. Installed in January. Ever since install we have been calling to have boards fixed due to repetitive boards coming back up. We are told the installers are not installing properly. The installers says this is just what we will have with this floor. We paid a lot of money to have this ongoing issue. Customer service is horrible. They hang up on you. Managers do not call you back, no follow up. Rarely pick up their phone and make false promises of correction and excuses for the issue.
Installers do not show up in professional attire like they advertise. They do not speak English so it’s hard to communicate with them. 7 months and still no resolution. I tried to make others aware on their Facebook and they blocked me from posting and removed my comment. Wishing we read the reviews prior to purchasing. The installer do not know how to install this type of flooring, the salesmen are pushing how great it is and the managers just don’t seem to care.

The sales rep was good and our flooring and installation happened quickly. Unfortunately, the installers laid the vinyl over the hole by my gas fireplace where you insert the key to turn on the gas for the fireplace. We contacted Empire Customer Service right away. I was even told by one rep that at least it is warm weather and I don’t need to use the fireplace right now. After 2 months of phone calls to Customer Service and a threat to file a complaint with the State Attorney General Consumer Protection, an installer called at 7:00 pm to say he was on his way to make the repair. Because we know generally where the hole was, the installer tried to drill thru the vinyl to find it. Unfortunately, that didn’t work. Therefore, he had to pull up that piece of flooring and attempt to install a new piece with the hole for the fireplace.
Since my house is an open floor plan and the fireplace is in the middle of the open area, he was not successful in inserting a new piece of flooring and indicated that a large part of my floor would need to be replaced. We also had one seam in my kitchen that was not good. We again called customer service and were told they were going to send someone out again. The original installer then came out, pulled up several pieces of my flooring and repaired the issues. What I hate about the flooring is they use a rubber mallet to beat the floor to move it. I have mallet marks on the floor that I haven’t been able to remove. We did an internet search on how to clean up those marks but nothing has worked. Consequently, when you look across my floor, it looks like something has been spilled on the floor. I would not consider Empire for any future flooring needs.

We cancelled the carpet part of our order because of the issues that we were having getting the flooring put in. I rented a with acrylic covered cement floors. I don’t like the floors and decided to carpet the living room. I knew I do this using “taped carpeting.” I contacted Empire Carpeting and they had a Jeff **; a Sales Representative contact me right away. Jeff and I spoke about the colors I wanted to view, the fact is I was renting and the carpet had to be “taped carpeting.” Jeff assured me this was no problem and we schedule an appointment for him to come over the following day.
Jeff arrived with carpet samples, he took measurements of my floor and we talked about the various things. There were two colors I wanted to think about, so I took pictures of them and told him I would get back with him. Two days later, Jeff came over to finalize my order. I gave him a deposit of $818.22 and was told I would have to wait 3 weeks for the carpet to arrive and be installed. It was an easy transaction; Jeff was a great salesman.
The day before my carpet was to be installed, I had not heard from Empire, so I phoned them. Their recorded message stated I had a 27-minute wait before speaking to anyone, however, I could try the “On Line Chat,” it was usually faster. I stayed on hold, but grabbed my computer and pulled up the “On Line Chat.” It read; “Unfortunately, there are no agents currently available.” I had to laugh; this was during their scheduled business hours. The exact time was 3:07pm, I took a picture and still have it for proof.
I waited a total of 40-minutes to speak to an Empire representative. Susan was difficult to understand, yet I had no trouble hearing her dog and bird in the background. After repeating myself numerable times, she was able to confirm that I was still on the schedule to have my carpet installed the next day and someone would phone in the morning to let me know what time to expect them. As stated by Susan, I did receive a phone call in the morning and was given a 2-hour window of when to expect the carpet installers. When they arrived, they were very polite, but the only English-speaking installer had to collect the balance of $817.65 before any work could be started.
Once the payment was made, the installer began explaining how the carpet would be installed. It was clear they were going to tack the carpet down and I ordered taped carpet. I explained this to him and it was evident this could not be done with the carpet he brought. He called the Sales Representative and Jeff ** said; “It seems I’ve made a mistake. You can still get the taped carpeting if you want, but it is going to cost more and we will have to order it.” I told Jeff I was not happy, he knew what I wanted, this was HIS error and I wanted the problem resolved now. He told me he would have to call the office and someone would get in touch with me.
30 – 60 – 90 minutes went by and I had not heard from anyone. I sent a text to Jeff ** to ask what was going on. He responded; “My Sales Manager and Marketing Manager are trying to work out something for you, he will be in touch with you though.” I respond; “Someone should have contacted me ASAP to let me know what is going on. This is not a way to keep a customer.” I received No response from Jeff.
Another 90 minutes passed and I had not heard from anyone so I called the office. I finally reached Sales Manager, Sonny **. In a very dismissive manner, he told me they were trying to find a way to use the carpeting I had already purchased and tape it down. However, I could still order the taped carpeting, but it will cost more and I would have to wait for the order. At no point did Sonny ** offer a discount or any form of compensation for the error made by Jeff **.
I told Sonny ** that at this point I was so disappointed with the way I have been treated, I would prefer they cancel my order and refund my money. He replied; “Fine!” He did nothing to try and keep me as a customer. I asked that he email a copy of the cancelled receipt and a copy of the refund request. It has been 5 business days and I still have not received a copy of the requested forms. This is a horrible way to treat a customer. Personally, I feel my entire purchase was a “Bait & Switch” scam. Jeff ** and Sonny ** were not concerned with the error that had been made, but repeatedly emphasized how I could purchase the “Taped Carpet, noting it would cost more.” As a result of my personal experience, I would not recommend Empire.
Shelly, we regret to hear that your concerns have not been addressed and we understand this is important. We’ll be contacting you as soon as possible to make sure this gets straightened out.

Now when I call I get no response. The guys came on the schedule day and time. We paid all money due.
They started the work and my wife had to remind them that the landing on the stairs were included. She had to leave for work, and I was at home that day. Well also included in the job was the tile being removed in the kitchenet and flooring being installed there, flooring in the closet. Well, that did not get done and neither did the trim in the downstairs room. All these items were in the contract. When my wife returns home, she pointed these item out to me. She was not happy with me at all, but I told her, "No problem. We just call them and let them know what was missed and I'm sure they will take care of us. We spend over 4,000. It will be no problem."
Well, I called and did get someone, and I explained what happen. They look up my address and phone number, verified my info, assured me it would be ok and that they would give to the person that schedules the subcontracted that come out and she would call me. I never received that call! I called again, waited 95 min on the phone and that person took my information again, made me feel a little better but again I never received a call. So, my wife has been calling as well and she said she reach someone who would come out Wednesday July 21. Never came and never called. She call back. They said they were short help. My wife said she understood but at the very least she should have gotten a call so she call again and they give her a number to MS. ** who also cannot be reached.
I left several voice mail just asking for a return call. So now we both call trying to just get the work finished. However, when I had a question about the installation, that was a little bit more of a challenge, and that took them over a week to get back to me. I had Kim, the representative from Empire, come over. She and I had to make several smaller adjustments to the plan. She was very accommodating to that. Then we went ahead and had the installers come in. They did a good job of demonstrating that they were very competent at what they were doing.
But there would have been some clarity I could have used on the stair install. When they installed the stairs, I did not have a good understanding of the product I was going to be getting or how it was going to look before. Because the stairs have different options that they can go with. The main problem I had was with the stairs, you could see nail pops come through. So that was the one area that could be done better and that's the area that I was the least happy with. Because, at the end of the day, after the stairs were installed, it was all new to me. This included a product called LUAN to level out the floors (a hard board of some type) so I signed the contract on Friday late afternoon. The sales rep said he would send me the amendment for the Luan. What I received was an amendment for carpeting which took the price back up to their original quote and NO LUAN. They claimed they cannot add the luan to the quote but that they will honor the deal - we all know if it's not in writing it won't happen and I have no recourse.
That Friday July 2nd I cancelled the agreement since it was not what we discussed or agreed to. I cancelled same day! On Saturday July 3 I called their customer service and spoke to Krystal at 9:52AM - 10:12AM, She accepted the cancellation and indicated I would receive a full refund. I called again on July 5 to confirm and spoke with Lisa at 11:09 AM - 11:24AM. She provided me with the two contract numbers that were being cancelled and we confirmed the refund amounts.
To date I have only received the smaller of the two refunds expected. He had some gray tones, but I told him I wanted to see other samples to see what other grays he had. He never even called me, or followed up. We pushed it a few months back because we wanted the summer to kind of go through the carpet still and have it closer to fall. We did it about three months later. Even then, we would ask him, “Are you gonna bring by samples?” It was a customer service lady that just says, “Go online.” But I wanted to feel, touch and see the actual color.
We lucked out that we picked good gray ones, but the guy wasn’t the best. I wasn’t sure about what we picked, so we almost called to cancel because he wasn't following up with us. But then we found out that we were gonna get charged 25% so we were like, “Forget it. We'll just go through with it.” There was one issue we had with the stairwell, and I think it's because of the one we picked. It was thinner than the old one that we had. The one we picked was so thin that on all the edges of the stairwell, your feet can touch the nails, and I didn't notice that until the guys left. So, I went to every step, and I hammered them all. I wasn’t dissatisfied because I ended up liking what we got. It looks nice. The guys that installed it were great. They were super fast. They finished it in half a day. I guess they couldn’t feel the nails because they were wearing shoes.

They didn’t call five minutes before they got there, they gave me at least an hour, which was great. They were really detailed. I was really impressed with the detail around the baseboard. They took their time and really made sure it was perfect. They cleaned up after themselves and were respectful of other parts of my house. They were very wonderful. I like how the flooring blends with the house. I really like it when we walk inside my front door, the carpet blends with the vinyl flooring. Plus the carpet going up the steps was pretty good quality. I recommend Empire for sure.

I have now scheduled my flooring installation for the 3rd time. Notice that the previous installations couldn’t be completed was non-existent, so I have also 100% prepared for the installation every time, using a week of my paid vacation total. The first installation did not happen because the product did not come in. I was notified the morning of the installation. My salesperson told me I was set for a date 4 weeks out when the flooring would be in. He did not ever schedule the installation so I again used paid time off from work (because someone has to be there for installation) for no reason.
This is a flooring job over $20,000 that I am 100% paying for myself for the house I am the sole owner of. I am a female. I say this, because my salesperson insists on communicating with my boyfriend rather than me. My boyfriend has spent $0 on flooring and does not own our home. His name was listed as a secondary contact in the event that I couldn’t be reached the day of my install. At least that is what I was told. He is not an Empire customer and he signed no contract. My salesperson tried to tell me today that my boyfriend was expected to schedule my installation to deflect blame for the last installation not happening???
Even worse, the salesperson told me with my boyfriend present that he was scheduling our installation for Thursday, July 8th and entered the information into his tablet. I was never even given an apology for any of these service failures. I highly recommend not using Empire. I especially do not recommend that women use this company as less respect seems to be given based on gender.

We had 2 consultations with the sales rep, explained that we wanted to replace our one room of carpet with hardwood floors to the existing hardwood flooring, advised this wasn't an issue, installers that came out spoke very little English and understood even less, they put in a transition piece which we clearly did not want, and the transition piece is 2 different colors, the installers majorly scratched up the floor and covered it with a ottoman, I dealt with Latasha via email whom informed me that I was clearly informed that this was not possible, which I was not.
The sales rep refused to return my calls or emails. I did eventually get another sales rep out named Patsy whom was kind, informative and knowledgeable but she stated that she would pass it along to her supervisor, took pictures and 3 weeks later I texted her and she said that she wasn't in the loop that I needed to contact Latasha. I have never ever dealt with a company, that was so unwilling to try and rectify the concerns of a consumer.
As Latasha sent Patsy out not to address the issues at hand but rather to do a consultation to pull out the new floor and install a different color at my expense which was never what I wanted. We also purchased the warranty with this product. So I would think that at the very least they could fix the large scratch. Now if you want to take a gamble at having an install done and communications being mute or told that you're lying because they spoke to the sales rep, then this is the company for you. Good Luck.

I purchased my flooring about 3 years ago. They told me it was water proof and scratch proof with a lifetime warranty. About a year ago it started to warp, buckle and scratch from my kitchen to my dining room. Plus it's separating in other areas. They made me pay for an inspection, now they say they won't fix it unless I pay for it. I live alone and work 70 hours a week..I'm never at my house to cause the damage the lady said was my fault, even though she couldn't name the reason. The inspector supposedly said it was site related. Don't do business with this company. They lie to you.

In May 2021, I purchased carpet for our stairs from Empire Today for ~$1,000. They came, measured, and cut the carpet, and required me to pay the balance of my contract in full - and then never returned with the carpet. I have tried for the past few weeks to contact them. I am rarely able to reach a human being, and the few times I have, I have been PROMISED a call back within 24 hours on the status of my carpet. They have promised that a few times on different occasions over the past weeks, and I am never called back. While the sales representative was very good, the corporate and local offices have shown zero interest in providing my carpet. As soon as they collected the money from me, it became impossible to reach them. We eventually requested a refund, which they have not given us.
We ordered carpet for our stairs because my wife and I were a few weeks away from having our first baby, and were worried that our wooden stairs were unsafe for carrying a newborn up and down. The carpet was measured about two weeks before the baby was born, and (if they had delivered the carpet in two weeks, as promised) we would have received our carpet before the baby was born. Now, our baby is five weeks old, and, for our own protection, we will likely need to spend additional money to rush order carpet from another company before we even receive our refund (or a simple update) from Empire. I have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and other agencies (I learned only later how many complaints had been filed with the BBB against Empire), but felt the need to post a review in hopes that someone might avoid the mistake I made in doing business with Empire.

My mother is elderly and Empire came out and did everything. She didn't have to go out, they brought all the samples everything to her. The initial install was scheduled on a Saturday but they called and said that they didn't have the materials, so they rescheduled it to the next Saturday. A man came to the house to install this carpet and my mother has a larger bedroom and older furniture, which is heavy. He was not gonna be able to do it by himself. He called someone and they came back and did it that Monday, which meant I had to take off work. But they did a good job and my mother loves the carpet.

I’m blind and the salesperson did really well in helping me pick out carpet. I can see a little itty-bitty bit, so that helped some as well. When the installers came, they were good, too. But they broke my closet door and tried to cover it up by leaving that side of the closet door open but closing the other side, thinking I couldn’t see the carpet and the closet. And I didn't notice because I had moved everything in my condo. But when I went to put stuff back the next day, I discovered that the closet door was broken. They sent someone to fix it and he was an almost non-English speaking person who happened to be the father of one of the installers. He came in and spent some time with it. I tried to get him to go away because we were not communicating well, but he told me he fixed it. So I went in and I touched the door and he had closed it, but he had not fixed it. I told him that it was still broken.
Aside from that, someone else told me that they didn’t pull the carpet tight enough and that I'm going to have problems with this later. I pointed that out to him and said someone told me about it. He called his son then put him on the phone with me. His son told me that his dad said he fixed it. But I told him that he didn't fix the closet and that somebody said that the carpet was not done correctly. Then, the man left and I figured he was gone, so I locked my door. But he came back and was insistent that he come in. And I shouldn’t have let him in because at this point, I was upset and nervous.
Then, he told me he had left his phone. I had no way of knowing that, so I let him in. I didn't know what he was doing and he may have been fixing the closet door. But then I finally screamed at him that he needed to leave. I told him I was not comfortable, so he left. Then, lo and behold, he did fix the closet door. But the fact that he didn't fix it the first time and tried to tell me he did, figuring the blind person wouldn’t notice, was not okay. Also, it must not have been a big deal to fix it, because it didn't take him long when he actually did it
I'm happy with the carpet itself but because of that experience, I probably would not deal with Empire again, which is a shame. I complained about it in one of the email survey things and Empire called me, but nothing came of that. They said they were sorry about it but said they were contractors and that's what happens. I paid them $3,700 and that was how I got treated. I understand, being blind, that dealing with a blind person is different, so I tried really hard to be patient with that. Aside from that, Robbie, the salesperson, never contacted me again. She never called to ask how the installation went and that surprised me. The last time I got carpet installed was about 10 years ago in another house and those people called afterwards to ask if everything was okay.

The salesman never left me with a means of contacting him. The company would not do for me either. Installer gave me the wrong material to begin with and just "appeared" four hours before the scheduled appointment. Did not have the correct materials to finish the edges of the installed flooring. Said it would have to be ordered. One week later I called because I was not rescheduled. They set an appointment for me but did not show up as scheduled and with no cancellation. I kept calling with no response. Finally got a person to help me by indicating I wanted a new installation. Otherwise I doubt I would yet have my floor completed.
Poor service and I would advise any purchaser to definitely check the quality of the flooring material chosen. Also get a good contact number for your "salesman" so that you can follow up. I tried to fill out their survey but it had been marked "no longer available"; after my job was completed. This is one of the reasons for writing this review on this venue. I would never use this company again based on the treatment I got.

Then I had another smaller bathroom to get done and that was the only time I ran into problems. We ordered carpet and installation from Empire today. The day of installation, although the appointment was confirmed, no one showed up. After calling the sales person I was told there was a glitch, the carpet couldn't be picked up, and myself and 5 other customers were not getting their installation. My house was torn apart and installation was delayed 10 days. This was frustrating but not nearly as frustrating as the total and absolute lack of customer service. I was given a number to call to express my frustration. I called 25 times, finally got a call back. I voiced my complaint, was told a ticket had been created and I would hear back from someone. I never did.
After phone calls to the sales person, I did get a call back from his boss who then referred my situation to a local customer service person. He informed me that there was a problem with their customer service line, this has been resolved and he has also trained people. The customer service person apologized for the problems and for my my time spent trying to resolve the issue. He said he was authorized to compensate me 100.00. There were other issues that I will not even go into at this time. I want people to know however that my experience with Empire was awful, mostly due to their total lack of customer service.

I contracted Empire Today to install vinyl sheet flooring and carpet in several rooms of my home. The vinyl flooring was installed on June 17-18, 2021 and the installation is not to my satisfaction. First, I really like the color and pattern of the flooring. It was very different from what we had previously and the risk seemed like it was going to pay off.
That was as far as we got with the excitement. The guys that did the install wasted no time getting started moving tables and furniture items. They removed the old flooring and worked to clean up the old glue underneath. They started with our Dining room and I was very pleased with how everything was coming along. Once they were finished, I looked at the kitchen and breakfast area and noticed that they were not parallel to each other. In fact, I asked them to re-lay the entire breakfast area because it was at a noticeable angle to the walls. They tried to argue that it was not at an angle and that trim and floor transitions could be used to mask it. I could not believe that they were trying to deny that floor was not square with the room, so they finally replaced that one section.
The crew left and promised to return the next day to complete the finishing work. It was after they left my home that I realized how the crooked breakfast area was only the beginning. There were splices and pieces of flooring that were cut and reassembled as if it was a huge jigsaw puzzle. Parts of the laundry room had arches cut into where the wood grains did not even look they were from the same pattern. Under the dishwasher were huge splices and gaps that look like they are not going to withstand any splash of water. In front of the refrigerator was another huge spliced piece that does not line up and is very visible in the middle of the kitchen. Under the fridge was even worse, one leg of the fridge is not even on vinyl so the fridge is no longer level. There are pimples in the vinyl because something was not swept up and is now under the vinyl.
The crew came back the next day and I addressed my concerns with them. They replaced the one section in the laundry room, but nothing else. At that point, I was done dealing with them. They moved some of the furniture back, but I made sure that nothing went up against the wall, since I knew it was going to have to be replaced.
I started reaching out to Empire Today to discuss options to resolve the poor installation on Friday, June 18, 2021. On June 23, 2021, I was finally contacted by an installation manager to schedule an inspector to come to my house on Monday, June 28, 2021. On Thursday, June 24th, I received a text message to confirm my appointment for the flooring inspection for Monday.
Today, Monday June 28, 2021, at 8:39 am, I missed a phone call from the local Empire Today office. The voice mail that was left stated that they do not have an inspector in my area today and that they would need to reschedule for Thursday or Friday. I tried to return the call, leaving messages each time, that I was already promised an inspection for today. None of my calls were returned and as of 7:00 pm, I have not received any notification from Empire Today regarding this issue. I have had to reschedule the carpet installation due to the uncertainty and the inability to return all of my furniture to the areas included in the vinyl floor installation.
I will not pay for something that I am going to have to hire someone else to replace. I contacted the financing bank to dispute the charges until Empire Today addresses my concerns. I also have requested a detailed price breakdown of my contract because the amounts that were quoted to us by the salesperson and the amount on the contract do not add up. I have not been provided this information either as of today.
Empire Today makes it very difficult to get in touch with someone that has some authority to handle customer issues. They have made it clear by scheduling an inspection and then canceling the inspection that they do not value quality work. My wife and I have been planning this flooring upgrade for a couple of years and now instead of enjoying it, I am regretting it. I would not recommend Empire Today because of their lack of support for the customer. I could forgive the poor installation provided the company took me seriously and took steps to resolve this situation.

I was directed to Empire by HomeAdvisor and I ended up getting rigid core vinyl plank from them, which I had installed in the family room and dining room. The sales rep and installer were very professional. I was doing some yard work when the installer came out and he got me before he did the third room because he didn't want to destroy the hardwood that was underneath the carpeting. I ended up just taking the staples out and leaving it as hardwood. The flooring looks very nice. Then, I tried to do the rigid core plank in the bathroom and that didn't go very well for me. So, I like that it was pretty easy to install, but I have a little bit more respect for the installer. All in all, everybody that I dealt with was knowledgeable and it was a good experience overall.

1 year ago I purchased new flooring for my home. I had to have the company send out an inspector at the end of April. Floorboards were popping up in the kitchen, the foyer and the hall. They took pictures and I signed the inspection report. I was told someone would contact me within 1 week. I gave them 2 because of Covid but when nobody got back to me I called them. Every day. For a week. Eventually I managed to reach a human. My ticket was closed and said repairs complete. This was a complete fabrication. Not only were no repairs made but no installers ever came by my home to make any repairs.
Since then they have scheduled to install on 2 different days. Both days I had to be available all day, each day nobody bothered to call and let me know the materials were not in stock so they cancelled the install. WITHOUT CALLING TO TELL ME. I had to spend half the day on the phone trying to reach someone for them to tell me. They did this on June 8th and June 25th. Now they tell me my flooring is not available and may be discontinued- keep in mind I ordered top of the line stuff 1 year ago. I got an email today saying they would get back to me when they had more details as if they could not source the floor materials from other stores I would have to pick out an alternative.
Historically they have not ever gotten back to me. I have to continually reach out to them. I started this process in April. It is now the end of June. They have run out the clock on my warranty which I believe is their intention from the beginning and my floors have boards coming up all over the place. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau but that does not get my floors fixed and I am at a loss of what to do. I hope that anyone reading this will save themselves the nightmare I am going through and choose a different company. I am still paying for the floors that were incorrectly installed.
