The laminate floor is fine but I’m not happy with our choice of color. It shows every little spot of anything on the floor. But it has nothing to do with Empire Today. I should’ve looked at it and chose a better product. The salesman who came out was very informative, helpful and friendly. The installers were fine but only one of them spoke English so it was a little bit hard to communicate. I had to find the right guy to talk to so he could understand what I was telling him. Overall, the customer service was good.

BACKGROUND: I contacted Empire to match brand-new existing carpet quickly. I saw value in a Sales Rep coming to the house to visually and in person match the existing carpet. Typical pushy contract sales, less than 300 ft. installed for $1500. EPIC FAIL, HORRIBLE: See photos. RUDE AND UNHELPFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE: I have been bounced around to 6 different people local level. The corporate level blames local market level and vice versa. Salesman blames install and etc. PUSHY SALES: The local assistant manager started off very nice and offered to "make things right" He gave us two options:
Option 1: $450 to rip out the carpet they just laid and put down new carpet the 2x5 hallway in the photo to match. So $450 out of my pocket for them to fix their mistake OR
Option #2: He SERIOUSLY said "we will give you a deal on hiring Empire to carpet the rest of the basement to match the hallway and room we just did." He seriously thought I'd hire them to do more work...? $1400.
So my choices were to hire them for either another $450 job or $1400 job... One local customer service woman left me a voicemail "Why are you calling me, you signed a contract and it was installed." An assistant manager on the local level got in a text fight with me, before saying the manager would reach out. Never happened. CONTRACT: They use the contract as justification. This is null and void if you did not type up and list the product, you were verbally promised something, and it is a digital signature which isn't always binding. The contract came from a personal email, not the company email. CREDIT CARD FRAUD: If you made the mistake of hiring Empire, here are some helpful tips: Have your credit card company flag as "deceptive sales practices" and open a report. Contact the BBB: Make sure to review and list pushy, deceptive sale practices, keep a record of all calls, texts, emails.
Jenna, we regret to hear about your experience, and assure you that we take your concerns seriously. We've located your order and will be in touch with you soon.

The sales rep of Empire was very professional. Once he got into the house, he took off his shoes. When the installers came in, they first showed me the wood and the type of flooring and which direction I wanted it installed, whether I wanted it vertical or horizontal. Once I made a decision, they started moving furniture and picking up the old carpet and then laying the flooring.
The two guys were very professional. They moved the furniture. I’m very impressed with the installation. The only thing I didn't like was they didn't put all the furniture back where it was. They just moved it to another room. But other than that, they did a great job. I like the way the flooring flows throughout the house without any stops. It looks straight like it was installed before I moved here. They did a great job. I was also having my bathroom done, so they had to skip over the bathroom and do my closet. They had to keep it in the same direction I asked and they did just that.

The Empire rep was punctual. We booked in advance and he also kept us updated on when he was going to be here. The installation crew was also super. They were top-notch and everything they did was A1. We're very pleased with the new flooring, so is our dog.

We had carpeting installed in the entire second floor of the house. So, it was three bedrooms plus a big hallway. The cost at the box stores like Home Depot was cheaper but they were a three week out delay per install, where we were able to call Empire and they were able to install within 24 hours. I told the sales rep what we were looking for because we already knew so that narrowed it down. He didn't have to show me a thousand samples. He brought in one section and then, we just had to go back and forth on the price. Once we agreed to that, we signed the contract. The installer called me when he was showing up and I had a friend let him in. He did the install and when he was done because I couldn't be there that day, he texted me photographs to let me see what it looked like. So I already had known the job and how well it was done before he left. The flooring is brand new and it's a good quality. It looks nice. Empire Today did a good job.

I had vinyl laminate installed by Empire and it was throughout the house, except for two rooms that had tiles. The installers were very efficient workers. I only had one issue. Where they had taken up some old sheet vinyl flooring and some other vinyl laminate that was in the floor originally, the glue that was on the floor, the guys walked right on it. About a day after they were gone, I could see their boot tracks with the glue. So, we had to get on the floor on hands and knees with a little alcohol and some rags and clean that off. But the quality of work was good. They did a really good job on the trim. Empire is a good company to work with.

I placed an order and then changed it because Empire Today didn't have the selection I wanted. So, I took the credit and I was thinking that maybe I'll do window coverings. The same person came to my house. He was nice and he remembered me, which was always good. He was a funny guy and he was very helpful. I was doing the shed so, he changed what the choices were and we ended up with a light-colored wood vinyl that looks good in the room and doesn't make it dark and tiny. It's a 6x10 shed but it looks bigger. It was in grays and they had a little bit more variation. I got an upgraded choice in the color palette that is perfect. This flooring is a nice style that fits in with a small room.
The sales rep was knowledgeable. I liked him the first time. He had a good sense of humor and was very personable. Very modern measuring techniques were used so they got the real shape of the room and there were no surprises. It was quite impressive. I went with the least worst of the choices. I got a contractor I had doing my shower door take me to this place that was Granite Expo and they have a huge variety of floors and I saw what I really wanted. But there was no hassle about canceling and there's no hassle about having it corrected.
I'm using my shed for a sewing room and a friend of mine that knows about sewing machine said that I have to be able to be sure that I get it all less vapor, which was why I decided to put the floor in the shed. The guys who did it said they couldn’t go up to the wall. There were a lot of stuff they couldn't do and it was disappointing. But they went way beyond what they said they could do and I was so impressed by that. All I had to do was to caulk along the sides of the walls rather than filling places that were open. They were friendly and very nice. Empire very easy to work with, which was the nicest thing. I had a good experience with them.

We had Empire Today install tiles in the bathroom and in a little area by the garage door. It went very well. The guy did very good but he was short one tile. So, he had to come back the next day to finish it up. I love the looks of flooring. I haven't had them too long but it seems like it's holding up very well.

We purchased carpet from Empire Today. We had two separate installation appointments. On the first one, the installation was fine. It was not the best carpet install and unfortunately, the installers ended up making a mess in our toilet and not telling me about it. So, that wasn't a great experience. But we really liked the product. I was willing to take a chance again, just to have matching carpets in the other rooms. The second installation experience was amazing. We had an awesome installer who was super polite and very clean. He even saw some issues with the original install and he went back and on his own said, “Hey, do you mind if I fix this a little bit?” I am happy with the carpet.
Both times we ordered from Empire, we really thought that the sales team members were thorough and helpful. They were not at all pushy, wanting to make sure we were happy. Setting up the appointments was easy for both the sales calls, as well as for the installation. I liked the options and choices. It was super convenient to have the salesperson bring the samples right to my house and to be able to see them right there in the space itself with the lighting and the other features of the home.

My kitchen floor really needed the flooring redone and I wanted to put in a new carpet. I had a good experience with Empire. The salesman was knowledgeable and very friendly. He showed me a variety and told me about different ones. He was very helpful and helped me make the decision I came up with, which I really like. The flooring didn't take long at all as it was just one room. The carpet took six hours and it was for seven rooms including the living room, bedroom, dining room, and hallway. The installers did a great job and I was happy with it. Empire was a great way to do things. They come to your home. It’s right there and you can compare it to your walls and to other things so that you can make sure they go with the colors.

There was a Facebook ad for Empire and there was a 75% off sale. The price was okay. I did their luxury vinyl plank and it does the job. But I don't like how it's still clicking when you're walking on the bathroom floor with it. Other than that, the installers were professional and courteous.

I had my floors done by Empire a little over 2 years ago. Mind you the company had shut down for numerous months due to the pandemic so keep that in mind. When I call the company and tell them that my floors are not holding up they let me know that I'm no longer under warranty but they would send somebody out to check out the situation. They're not only lifting on the edges but I have no animals and take really good care of them. They sent somebody else that does not speak English and put the manager on the phone. A few minutes later where he tells me that because I use rejuvenate which is a product specifically designed for cleaning laminate flooring there's a problem. I've yet to hear back from anybody. This gentleman that could not speak English had me sign paperwork and left my house. Didn't say anything to me. Didn't let me know when the company would be back in contact with me.
It's been a nightmare of a situation from beginning to end. The only reason why they even reached out to me to have somebody come out and check my floors is because I kept leaving reviews. Worst experience ever. I do not recommend this company to anybody. The management is not professional and you're spoken down to. This was a $9,000 learning lesson. Remember you're dealing with third-party contractors that the company hires out. Hopefully with this review I might get a return phone call. LOL. What a joke.

I've used Empire Today for years. They've done all my carpets every time I've redone it and did my kitchen floor. And I've done every room in my house. I'm very pleased with the service and how quick they get things done. I don't have to wait weeks to get appointments. I liked they brought out samples that were in the area that I wanted, and price-wise and everything. And they just seemed to be very knowledgeable on everything that they were doing. I had two rooms of carpet. I'm pleased with the carpets. Empire Today also put flooring down in the bathroom. I like that too. I’m very pleased with them.

We got vinyl planking for the kitchen thru Empire. I like the product and it was about $1,000 less than the other three places we went to. Also, their guys leveled the floor out and the other companies were not going to do that. When they installed, they pulled the refrigerator out into the dining room and didn't make any marks on anything. They took all the old flooring out and got rid of it. I had no trash to clean up, not even to sweep. They were very good. I'd tell others to go to Empire. My neighbor’s already looking ’cause in the next year, they're going to be redoing their kitchen. They're going to pull them in to see what they can get in there.

There's no way I would recommend Empire. When the rep was doing the sale, he did a very thorough job and that was why we bought from them. But I tried to get ahold of him the last couple of days and got no answer. I couldn't leave a message 'cause his mailbox was full. I sent out a message but he still didn't answer. The day they were supposed to be doing the flooring, they called that morning and said that the product wasn't there. We had to wait. I called him back and asked, "How do you know the product is gonna be there tomorrow?" He said, "It's here today. I found it in the corner of the warehouse." we still had to wait till the next day. But the guy that they got did an awesome job. He came in and showed me the product. It kind of matches what we were doing in the bathroom.
The carpet was supposed to be installed Wednesday. Then they called and said the product didn't come in. I said, "I let you off the hook the first time. This time, I'm not. You're gonna pay me something. We have furniture moved out of three rooms and we could barely get through the house." He knocked $100 off. Yesterday, I waited for them to call but they never called. I called him and confirmed it was gonna get done Friday. He said yes and called an installer. Friday came and I got a phone call from the installer. He said, "What do you think about waiting till tomorrow? I don't want your carpet to get wet." I didn't like it a lot, but I agreed.

When the sales guy came out, Empire was sold to us better than a couple of the other companies that we had went through. We liked him and got along great with him. He was very responsive as far as the issues that came the first installation. We told him what we needed done. But when the technician came out, it seemed like he didn't want to do the work. Every time we talked to him, he said, "I'll come back a different day. We'll send somebody out.” I told him we needed the flooring laid right then. For hours, I was fighting this man and I ended up saying, "Nothing's gonna get done. Just leave, please.” He left and we ended up getting a different technician to come out.
Our sales guy came back. He re-measured everything and we had a discussion about that. The second guy came out and we still ended up only doing the carpet. The issue was that Empire's independent people wouldn't lay our flooring because apparently, the warranty that we pay for doesn't cover the flooring if they would have laid it. I felt it was confusing. We were being told one thing as far as what was covered, but the installation people would come out and tell us another thing. But the quality of the carpet is really good and we liked our technician that ended up coming out and putting the carpet in.

Also needed a repair done with the installation that was done incorrectly and again nothing!!!! If I could give this a minus 5 I would.
Original Review: Set an appointment for 3/23/22 between 8-10 AM and they were a no show. Sent a text to the scheduler and she NEVER REPLIED BACK! I compared quotes for Rooms for Less, Empire and a couple other ones. Empire wasn't initially the lowest, but they were competitive. I wasn't too impressed with the initial quote, but they adjusted it. They ended up getting the bid and we had Premier Vinyl Floor put in throughout the whole house. I got a good floor for a great price. The crew was delightful to work with. They did a wonderful job. They did it in a extremely timely fashion, in two days. They explained every step along the way. We're in the process of the beginning phases of remodeling the kitchen and my wife and this other guy tried to rip the trash compactor out. It seemed like it was bolted in so they decided to keep it in place. The next day, she got up early before they came and ripped it out on her own. Two strips had to be completely taken up so that gap could be covered up properly and professionally and they did that without hesitation.
We didn't get the commercial grade 20 where you don't have to worry about water or anything. We got a 12 where if you have standing water, you got to get it out pretty quick. As long as you get the water out, it'd be fine. As far as cleaning, you don't need really special chemicals. The best thing that they recommend is just a little bit of vinegar with water and that's what we've been doing.

The promotional offer intrigued me but it was a little misleading. It says 50% off but it's not. The salesman told me that that was only for one particular type flooring but they made no specific mention on their a commercial that it only applies to the laminate. But Empire did a very good job. They were quick. It was back in February and they came at 9:45 in the morning. I went out for breakfast and within an hour, I came back and the rugs were already outside. They took care of that and were almost done in one of the rooms. They were done before 4:00. The flooring looks fantastic. Everybody that has seen it so far agrees. During the sales meeting with Empire Today, we were told that all the baseboards and the filling of the cracks in the concrete were included. Unfortunately, none of that happened. I called and put in a request to get a call back on that. The baseboards were okay. Ours that were in were not damaged so I didn't put up a big fuss about that. However, the filling of the concrete was never done and the salesperson told us it had to be done or else the flooring wouldn't look right. When he was in, he called his manager and they said, “Oh, yeah. Not a big deal. We'll cover it up or we’ll fill it. Not a problem.” When the installation was done, I realized they didn't do any of that. Then when I called Empire and we talked about it, it was, “Oh, no. It didn't have to be done." So I said, “Okay. If you guys don't think it has to be done, and nothing bad's gonna happen to the carpet, then I guess it is what it is.”
They also said that I didn't pay for it. I didn’t realize I even had to pay for it. Then now, what we're dealing with, we thought it was, again, completed. But then the stringers weren't done. We were told that it would match everything else that we have in our house, i.e. the stringers going upstairs. So I called, opened up another thing on that, and was told, “Oh, no. You didn't pay for the stringers to get done.” We didn't know we had to pay for the stringers to get done.

I had a salesman from Empire come in and show me the product. We made a few phone calls back and forth between him and his managers to get the deal that I was looking for. I told them I would pay half cash and the other half when they showed up with the product. On the install day, they came in and asked for the rest of the payment. But I found out shortly after that that they didn't have the complete casing for the steps. I was a little turned off by that. I considered canceling the whole deal but I figured it could be an honest mistake so I let it go. They came back two days later and completed the rest of the work. The work looks good. Looking behind, it's not flawless or perfect but I'm satisfied.

I felt Empire would be better than others cost-wise. And I considered getting the materials and having a contractor do it, but I thought Empire would be quicker, and they do it every day and they know what they're doing. Their sales rep was pleasant and there was a misunderstanding about the molding along the baseboard. He said it was included and turns out it wasn't. But it was pleasant and he gave me options. The installers came in and did what they needed to do. There was no carpeting to take out so they just installed the carpeting. They were very pleasant and nice young men. They were efficient.

I saw an ad that said it was 50% off, but the ad was deceiving. It made it seem like it applied to what we were looking for but it didn't. But I was pleased with the service as far as the installation and they gave me a little discount. The rep was very professional and the installers took care of their business. We had vinyl installed in the entire downstairs and the master bathroom and it brings out the color in the whole schematics of the house.

I had Empire Today install carpeting on a stairway and a small bedroom. The reps were very professional and cut-and-dry. The installers asked questions before they started to make sure they had the right things, color and order. They did the job efficiently. It took them two and a half hours and it was excellent. It was what I wanted. Come in, get it done and get out.
I've had other work with Empire, so that was my first go-to. I had the same salesman who I like two times. He was a great person. I was looking to replace runners in my house and we talked about it. We looked at it the first time and couldn't quite get what I wanted, but I didn't get a callback if there were other options, and that was what we left on the table. So, the second time I called back, we did all the work with what they did and I came back to the runners. I picked the color and I never heard anything else back. This has been going on, off and on, not quite a year but I don't know why that keeps getting dropped. I was thinking about it the other day that I'm not calling anymore. I'm gonna go somewhere else. I'm not mad. It’s just I shouldn't have to chase anybody down to give me my money.

I got hardwood flooring for my entire main level, which is kitchen, powder room, dining room and living room. The sales rep, Tom, was personable. He answered my questions. I was very indecisive about the color because the color on the sample doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to turn out as gorgeous as you think it might be once it’s installed, and he was patient with me. He had updated tools, used an app and some handheld device to electronically measure, which decreased the time that it took to measure the floors. He was creative in talking me through the process and pulled up an app that would mimic the color of the samples to my actual floor, given the measurements of my floor, tp help me decide.
A week later, I called and asked Tom to come back because I wasn’t sure about the color of the sample that I've chosen. So, he brought back the sample book and came back the same day. Even though he talked me through the process, he also gave me space to think and wasn't pushing. I have since then had a follow up call with him because I moved into this house fairly recently. Somebody moved a table from the basement upstairs, not realizing that they would scratch the floor panels. I called Empire to report the incident so that they could come out and replace or fix the panels based on the extended warranty that I purchased.
The agent that I spoke to was quite upset because I asked her questions relating to the fix and everything she was saying made it sound like Empire was not going to come out and fix the scratches. So, I was upset about that. And she had not thoroughly and properly explained the process, which made me even more frustrated. I was upset because Tom, during our conversation, promised me left and right, up and down, that I had floor protection. That if anything was to happen to the wood, it would get replaced for a certain period of time. It was all part of the package and he gave me examples, and it was all part of my decision to go with hardwood. I’m still waiting for a phone call from Empire to continue with this claim. It’s been four days and nobody has called me back yet. It’s on my to-do-list, to call back and ask what’s going on.
The install team was quick and they just work. The lead person who was here managing made me feel like I could trust them and I was able to leave and run errands versus sitting at home for six or eight hours. I wasn’t completely moved in yet at that time so I had a lot of other things to do, including work. So they completed and they were quick. The lead listened to my concerns. There are certain sections where they have to put some kind of a nail because I have a step down. So they had to put this other piece to cover the seam and the nails seemed like they were off color. So, they fixed that. They made sure that the colors matched.
The installers were supposed to bring a wood trim that would match the color of my wood but they brought white trim instead because they said that it was out of stock and they didn’t know if it would be back in stock. So, we would have to call the warehouse and put a note. They did a temporary install with the white trim, which looked perfectly fine, except for one section that was done roughly. If they hadn’t come back, depending on the supply, it looks like it was unfinished. So I had to call Empire again and they explained to me that the wood trim most likely won’t be coming in for a long time and they asked me to reconsider the white trim. I said that I will reconsider this white trim because it looks like a nice contrast. But somebody needs to come back and finish this one section that looks like it was not done properly. It was two weeks later that the install team came back, which was a little bit long. It was scheduling according to them.
I paid over $10,000 to Empire for the wood and the service, and overpaid. For the amount that I paid, at this point, somebody would say that I’ve got an issue and get back to me within one to two business days, instead of me waiting five days and having to call and follow up. It seems like I'm having to do the outreach every time and I'm not happy about that. Also, I wanted to speak to someone about the quality of this wood because it's supposed to be hardwood and yet it scratched so easily.

We’ve used Empire multiple times and it’s good working with them. I scheduled an appointment and they were there the next day. They were quick. We signed the contract that day and then, they showed up the day after to demo and start installing. We had a sewage backup downstairs which flooded our whole downstairs. So, for them to be able to come in, demo and have new flooring in a week was amazing. That's why we kept going back to them because I don't have to order something and wait for weeks or months. They got the thing in stock and they get out there in a day or two. We've done carpet and hardwood with them and this time, we did tile flooring downstairs. We liked them all.

We purchased carpet and installation for our house and were told it would be done in one day. It was, except that they pulled up the moulding around the old carpets and did not reinstall it; the technicians said that a different group in their company did that and they would call us to schedule that. They did not call us. We called them and were told they have three business days to call us back (not to do the work, just to call us back) and they were sorry our salesperson did not make that clear.
However, it has now been 4 business days and they have still never called us back, much less scheduled OR performed the reinstallation of our molding. We have had to cancel the rest of our house selling activities as we can't even tell the realtor when our house will be ready since we have no scheduled install, nd now apparently we have to find someone...and pay someone else...to come give us a quote to reinstall all the moulding. Will never ever use Empire Today again and will warn all my friends against using them.

I should have done more research because I would have come out cheaper. I contacted a place after and their price was $2,500 less than Empire. But I'd seen the commercial, I was ready to do it and I did it. I like my floors. But my dishwasher was damaged during the installation process and the installers had to come back. They did not hook my dishwasher back to the countertop. When you push the dishwasher in, it's supposed to hook to the countertop so that the whole dishwasher doesn't move when you open the door. They inverted the fasteners and it scratched the top of my dishwasher door as I opened and closed it.
Someone called me about that and gave me $150 off. They attached it to the back end of what I financed, which is fine. I don't have to pay interest on that amount. They wanted to offer me 75 bucks and I said that if I were renting this place and I didn't own it, and I had put a deposit down, it would have been way more than $75 that they would have kept of my deposit. I'm thinking more 150. And even still, it probably would have been more than that. But that was fair. It’s no big deal. It’s a cosmetic problem and doesn't affect the functioning of my dishwasher. It's the principle though.
Working with Empire was rocky. When the guy came and after I decided on what materials I wanted, I never received a breakdown on what cost what. I just received the bottom line so when it came time for me to do my taxes, because I also have a business that I run from my home, I had to give the square footage of my office space and how much the material cost just for that space, and I didn't have the information to provide. It took some effort to get that right. I called Empire and they said they didn’t have that information and I got to get that from the salesperson. All of my information was entered into a system and it's the way that anybody should be able to access that information who works from Empire. They said they couldn’t see that and that was super frustrating to me. And this guy was on vacation and I had to wait for him to come back from it. He finally got back, I got the information and that was fine. In the end, everything ended up okay.

An Empire Today salesman came to my house yesterday and answered my questions to my satisfaction. I chose which products would be installed and I was assured the installation could happen the next day. (Because I'm a nurse I have an unusual schedule.) This morning I received a call stating that a sub contractor's van broke down, therefore my appointment needs to be rescheduled. I chose Empire because the salesman said it could be done today. I'm curious how the company decides which jobs will be staffed and which ones will be put off. I'm surprised that such a large company doesn't have another van. Or that the subcontractor can't borrow or rent a van or truck.
When I called and spoke to a manager in the installation department she said that Empire has 30 days to honor their contract. My contract reads that Empire has 30 days to CANCEL the contract and I asked her to send something stating that she is choosing to end my contract. The manager also said that a person calling in sick to work is an act of God, and therefore covered by the contract. I assured her that staffing issues are not covered under "Acts of God." She offered to send a picture of a van that is broken down and in the parking lot. I wonder if that energy would better be used contacting a rental facility so that the contract can be fulfilled.

It was a little different in color but I didn't complain about it because I figured it was in a different location. Also, I didn't want to keep having to call them out there to do what should have been done in the first place. But as far as the floor, it is nice. We were told by the salesman that we were absolutely not to sign unless we were happy with the job. Their policy is to have you write the check first and assured us that it would not be cashed unless we were happy with the job. The installer dialed his boss and handed me the phone, he demanded that I sign the paperwork and told me that he would have the floor ripped up. I told him to go for it.

I went with Empire 15 years ago and I was very happy. Recently, we had three rooms carpeted. The downstairs will be cold because of the cellars underneath it. And the room upstairs, half of it used to be a kitchen. The house has a beautiful wood floor underneath, but half of the room is the kitchen floor. It works better that way. One is a light gray, another is a bit darker gray, and the one upstairs has a bit of brown in it. When you first vacuum a brand-new wall-to-wall carpeting, you get a lot of fiber. I have a bagless Shark, so I could see. And I'm like, “What is all this?” But the more I vacuum it, the less I'm getting. So, it must be just because it was new. But the carpet is nice.

Purchased Vinyl plank from Empire. Left 1000 dollar deposit and waited a month to have installed because I wanted to ensure I selected right company. Overall the experience was good and the floor turned out amazing. There is hidden cost, but I knew what it was before salesman even showed up at door and negotiated the grinding of the floor (250$) to level before contractors showed up. Can't lay Vinyl plank with an uneven floor and that can cost you a lot more than negotiated with salesman. If there was any drawbacks I was disappointed only 2 people showed up which caused an extra day of work. With 3 people it could of been done in 2 days instead of 3. The upside with empire is you can pay with a credit card and you have a warranty unlike using side contractors. Stick with the Empire / Home depot / Lowe's when purchasing. Overall I paid about 9$-10$ per square foot including labor and cost of plank. 1000 square feet will cost you about 10k.

The salesman that Empire sent out was a wonderful person. He spent several hours here going over everything. So, I felt good about that. The installers were really nice gentlemen, too. I was just not impressed with Empire's standard molding at all, and there wasn't a lot of care taken into when they put down the adhesive stuff when they did the resurfacing of the floor. They sprayed some of the walls with that concrete stuff and didn't clean it up. There were also a lot of handprints all over my walls.
The flooring looks beautiful, but then there were some issues afterwards of bubbling in the floor. It took me forever to come in contact with somebody who was willing to send them back out to deal with it. Then when they showed up to look at the bubbles, they said, “The glue is still like activating. And so, if you just push it down, it'll stick. So put something on top of it." He said, "Here's my personal number. Call me. Don't call Empire." I was like, "Okay. I get it." I put the freezer on top of it to keep it down and it seemed to do okay for the most part.

The guy who came in who did the measurements and showed me all the different rugs, when we made the appointment, we made it with him. Then when we told him we had to cancel that because of some other problems we had that had to get fixed before the rugs get put in, he told the office. The office never told the people that she was supposed to show up, so they were calling me at 6:30 in the morning and I said, “You're not supposed to be here today. I can't till next week.”

The sales guy was great. He came in and did all the measurements. He explained everything to us, took his time, and answered all my questions. He worked with us and gave us all of the options, like what was costly for us. So he was really good about advising us. I appreciate that. We did all the downstairs the first time and then about a few months ago, we did the upstairs. So now, all we got left is the back bedroom, which we're planning to do. We definitely got to call Empire to come back for that too.
The installers came on time and I appreciated that they called me before they arrived. Everything went as planned. They did everything they needed to do quietly and nicely. They also answered my questions. I went upstairs to see everything and they finished in one day, which was awesome. It was done in less than eight hours. I'm very pleased with everyone.
One of the features that I like about Empire is the fact that I could go on the app and see how the floor is gonna look with my furniture. That's very important to me because everything has to match. It was nice to be able to select different floors and see how this house is gonna look on everything. That was so helpful. I love that.

One of the installers told me the laminate was too close to the ground. And he suggested I go out and buy air returns so they didn't have to cut the floor out around it. I just ran out to the Home Depot and bought them, and they installed them. I had three bedrooms done. All the furniture was in one bedroom. We used Empire Today in the past, and we used them again to put vinyl flooring, molding, and some repairs to level the floor. The representative who came was very professional. We worked with him on our other deal, so it was kinda straightforward. He knew my husband from the last deal that we did. We weren’t expecting it to be the same person but it was. We asked for early installation. That happened relatively nicely. The contractors did amazing work. It was a two-man team, and one of the men got shipped on the third day. The installation took four days total and it was really good work. I am having them come back out because there is a couple areas that are coming up.
There was an unexpected charge that they said that needed to be paid upfront, but it was an error that had happened. So, we paid it and they refunded it to us. The person who came down said that there were some incentives like email and because we're a repeating customer, and for some reason, those weren't taken off. They didn't understand me when I talked about what needed to be done and where. They recarpeted some closets that did not need to be. I didn't pay for them because they were not part of the initial quotes. I told them that, but when I came back upstairs when they were done, it was all carpeted. I even asked him twice to verify and he confirmed it. 2 months later, we lost power and the basement had some water from the sump well overflowing. Contacting Empire to file a claim is a hassle and time consuming. I was told the claim was denied even before an inspector came out which was 3 months after the fact. After the inspector submitted a report, it was denied again. Last they said is they could have someone come out to look at replacing it for a reduced cost. I haven't heard anything since then. I had carpet installed upstairs and then the stairwell going upstairs from downstairs. Empire has great prices and they're going to get you taken care of in a timely manner. But the other place that we looked into had a 40-ounce carpet and the only thing that Empire offered was the 36-ounce carpet. It was disappointing and the reasoning that was given to us was that that was what they had in the warehouse in stock. It was almost made to sound like they didn't really do the ordering thing. I felt limited in my selection.
When the installers came, they moved all the furniture and got started right away. They were supposed to be here at 8:00 but they called ahead and asked if they could come at 7:45. I agreed to that and they were done by 12:30. So far, I'm pretty impressed with their work. My one concern was not installing the carpet close enough to the edges that over time, it might pull away and you would see a visible gap. Or that I might see a seam where the carpet from bedrooms meets the hallway. But so far, I haven't seen anything like that. Both of our bathrooms have vinyl flooring and they did the transitions really well. They melted the seams together, transitioning to the hallway. It appears that they did a good job tucking the carpet all the way out to the edges. So I'm not seeing anything pulling away.

I called Empire Today and got an appointment with their consultant. I told him what I was looking for in flooring and he made recommendations. I took him on his recommendation and scheduled an appointment for them to come and lay the flooring. However, they came late and it took them two and a half days to do it. They started on the 7th and they completed it on the 8th, but it was close to 9 PM. I signed a document but I didn't see the floors until the next day. They looked okay from above but that Saturday, I went in to clean up the mess that the workmen left, I found that they smudged around the area then I noticed all the defects.
The caulking is terrible. They put white by the bathroom downstairs' door and I said something because that just stood out. They then half-caulked it in brown. They removed my closet door and put a new guide for the doors to slide through. Unfortunately, they didn't do it right because every time I slide some of through that guide, it chips away at my sliding closet door.
Aside from that, the joints didn't connect where they put the border wall. They tried to caulk it to disguise it in my kitchen along the cabinets underneath the counter by the stove because you can't see it, you have to get down and really look. They didn't complete it all the way up to the cabinet. I also had nicks in the floor and that was one of the things that I told the guy. I told him that I was looking for something that was not going to nick because I drop stuff. and that was one of the problems that I had with my previous flooring. So he guaranteed me it wouldn't happen. But that Saturday, I found two nicks that were done by the contractor’s employees.
I also found that some of the underlay they put on top of the original flooring to lay the planks was showing. It's black and it’s obvious. My front door entrance is terrible as well. They didn't make the planks line up evenly at the front door and what they did was try to disguise it and caulk it to the transition part of the door. They did the same thing with the garage door. One of the things that the consultant told me was that these were seamless floors, but that's not true. I can feel the rise between some planks and I'm afraid that if I accepted it the way it was, that in no time, those planks would dislodge themselves. Right now, I have some warping of the floors. It looks like a water bubble but there's no water near where this is.
They were supposed to come today but I have an appointment where I can't be here today. I told them my son would be here but they said they needed me to be here to okay the flooring. So they're supposed to come tomorrow. But I advised them that I'm leaving home before 9:00 tomorrow because I work outside my home a couple of days a week and Friday happens to be one of those days. So they guaranteed me that they’d be at my house between 8:15 and 8:30 tomorrow. According to the person, they're going to replace the entire floor. But I have to wait and see it because again, they tell me one thing and they don't follow through.
Other than that, the first person that came to do the installing lied on me to his supervisor when he came back. I put white paper type of masking tape in the spots that I found and after I complained, he came back to see and as soon as he came into my house, he was pissed off. He said it was too much and he couldn't do it. Then he called his supervisor and started speaking in Spanish. I don't speak Spanish but my daughter-in-law was here and she does. And he told his supervisor that it wasn't the flooring, it’s just that I did not like the color of the flooring. But I never said anything like that. Also, when he was here, he kept questioning me. When my son came over, he asked if he was m boyfriend or my husband. He also asked if I was married.
It was October 8th that I filed my complaint with the company and now it's February. So it's been four months. I was trying to be reasonable so when they do come out, or if I end up in court, I won't be the unreasonable person because I bent over backwards. My furniture is still in my garage and I can't park my car in my garage because my furniture is there. Hopefully, everything will be remedied and put the way it should be.

Because we have it in stock.” They kept me informed on the availability of my products as they did temporarily go out of stock. The installation team was awesome. Empire has been around forever, and we wanted to go with a solid company like that. They were offering a good deal, too. The sales gentleman was really good. He was personable but didn't follow up after, though. The installers were good. The only problem we did have was that the billing took a while. As far as the flooring, a full-sized sample would be good for consumers so they can get more of an idea of how the patterns are gonna show up. That is something that we had to change in the fly. They brought out the flooring we picked and then it didn't seem that would be the proper quality that we needed. So, we ended up switching, but they were really good with accommodating all that. We were overall pretty satisfied with everything.

I got wood floors from Empire Today for the entirety of my apartment. I picked them because it was quicker and I was on a schedule. The installers showed up at my place and they looked around and made sure that they could do the thing I asked for. I left in the morning and then I came back to check in at lunch, and they had taken all the carpet out and leveled the floors. I came back later in the day, and they were done about 6:00-ish. They did a really good job. I’m happy with it. Overall, Empire is straightforward. They had something online, which I used a lot. Empire Today was running a special for 50% off, and they would come out and show the product plus install it. It was a one stop type deal. That experience was good. But I had a bad experience with Empire Today in Seattle, Washington. The people that they had sent out to do the installation didn't want to put any padding under my floor, i.e., remove the old floor to put down a new floor. They wanted to put the new floor on top of the old floor. I had to call in to the company and the company told the workers that they had to remove the old floor to put the new one down. It was supposed to take X number of days but it ended up being extended. It was kind of a hassle.
I don't like the flooring that I picked out. The representative had told me that it would be a good floor and kind of similar to a porcelain. When I called them and explained my dissatisfaction with it, they told me that they would replace the floor if I wanted it replaced, but they would still have to charge me for the new product. They were also supposed to put some baseboards down for me according to their representative. They had quoted me a price that the baseboard and the installation would be $380. Then they scheduled me a date for the job to be done. I waited here all day but they didn't show up. I called the guy back and asked him what the problem was. He said he would call and check. Then come to find out they hadn't even ordered the baseboard and told me that I had to start all over.
When they got the baseboards in, they got a new manager. After I had waited all that length of time, the manager said that the $380 to put the baseboards down wasn't gonna hold. Their policy was they don't put baseboards down unless you're ordering another floor. They said that they would go ahead and send me the baseboards, but they wouldn't do the install. I had to go find somebody myself to put them in. I just cancelled the whole order because I felt like I got the runaround. If I had to order a floor to get the baseboards done, then that was what they should have said in the first place.

I felt like the two didn't even try to get me the best pricing according to my budget. It was just like, it is what it is. One of them called his sales manager. The sales manager told me that I needed to be realistic about my budget. There was nothing they could do for me. Whereas the third guy that came out called his manager and they did everything they could to accommodate me. The installation was phenomenal. It was more than what I expected. They got there before time. They were very tidy, as far as moving stuff. They got stuff installed at a very reasonable time, earlier than I thought. They had been good overall. They blew me away. I had had someone else do the floors and they walked out on me and didn't finish the job. The guy from Empire Today came in and took everything off. He arrived here about 10:00 and introduced himself. He had his badge on and told me who he was. He went on in and got started. He didn't stop or take a break. I had a lovely young salesman from Empire come to my new condo. We set up an installation of flooring in two bedrooms and a hallway. I purchased the hardwood and it's very easy to clean. It turned out to be so much better than I thought. If you look at a slab, it doesn't tell you what the whole floor is gonna look like. You can't feel it. You can't get a sense of it until you start to walk on it, feel it and see the pieces together. I probably would have enjoyed going to a showroom. Luckily, it turned out well. The installer was also efficient. He did it all in one day.

I had a great room and a hallway carpet installed by Empire Today. Two guys came to install and one was good. He spoke some English. He did the main room and left his apprentice on his own and didn't oversee the work in the hallway. This apprentice was a really young kid, and it was obvious to me he didn't know what he was doing. I've got three places in the hallway now with a carpet that’s buckling up on me. They didn't get it tight enough. When I pay this good money for carpet, I expect it to be flat.
I'm trying to get somebody out here to do a little repair. They have to come out and re-pull the carpet in the hallway. It's pretty straightforward, like a half-hour job. I left several calls with Empire Today but no one ever returned it. I called Sunday, and they said someone will get back to me in three days. The reps were very friendly, engaging and informative. This was the second time Empire came out and it was a more challenging installation. I was redoing the flooring upstairs in the bathroom for a remodel so they had to patchwork all the current flooring in with the previous flooring. The installation techs did a very good job of making sure that everything was going to match and fit together flush. It extended the time frame out for what we originally set for the install but the quality of work was good. So, it was worth the additional time and cost because of their attention to detail.
I did laminate flooring throughout the house and a small amount of carpeting for the stairs. I like the combination of how the flooring looks and how durable it is. I live an active life. I've got a kid and a dog, and I didn't want something that I had to be super cautious about but I still wanted something that looked nice. This is a good blend of all of that. When I signed a contract with Empire Today, I told them that I was bringing my husband home from assisted living. I needed it done as soon as they could get installers. I also indicated that I wanted transition strips -- I got wood in the hallway and dining room and carpet in my front room -- and I asked if I could have those. They said they don't normally do that. Then, they said they couldn't find them the same color as my wood and they don't think I need them. I paid $12,000 for this whole shebang. I want transition strips. I told them I'm not that picky with the color. If they could just find something that has a little red in it like my floors, I’d be happy.
They sent the installer out and he put a quarter round on the stairs where all the fibers were coming out. Then he took a look at my carpet in the front room, which I had noticed they didn't secure the seams. He took a picture of it and sent it to his manager. I called the manager and they said that it's probably the manufacturer. But it's not, it’s the way it was put in. Finally, he sent an inspector out who looked at it. The inspector said I'm going to have to have a whole new carpet in here and they just can't piece it. He said he's going to do that as soon as possible. In the interim, I brought my husband home and I had to relocate a lot of furniture back in the front room where they are going to have to lay the carpet. I have no idea if it would be done soon but I trust that young man's word. I really was not happy with Empire, though.

We have received many, many compliments on it! Although I had some questions and concerns about what we were going to do about the previous vinyl moulding that was previously glued up against the woodwork all around the kitchen, my options were to leave it on, us tearing it off ourselves as the installer would not remove it, or paint it black according to the sales person. Overall, we were concerned that it would not look good either way, so we decided to leave the old vinyl moulding on (it was an off-white) and the installer sliced the molding all the way around, so that our new floor went right up against it and put matching (same color of the floor) trim against it. The installer, Eduardo was knowledgeable and professional! He worked alone and did a fantastic job!

We went with Empire because they installed our hardwood floors eight years ago and it was totally fine then. So we were under the impression that we were going to have a good experience again, but that did not happen. We had three bedrooms and the hallway done this time around. But the first crew that came in didn't lay the carpet in the right direction. So the seams were very obvious. They had excess glue underneath the carpet where they seamed it. So it felt like there was a rock underneath there. Another crew came out to try to fix it and they said they found all the stuff that was wrong with it. But then work was stopped because they didn't have enough carpet.
Another crew came out and found something wrong with the carpet in the bedroom. The backing to the carpet was separating and not sticking to the glue as it needed to be. So then they decided they had to replace the hallway and the master bedroom. When they got through with their inspection of that they were like, they said, "You know what? Really, the whole thing needs to be done because it's completely incorrect.” So there were problems everywhere where the carpet met the tile in the bathroom and where the carpet met the tile on the hardwood floors.
Empire sent an inspector out and he inspected all three rooms in the hallway. It was agreed that the carpets in the whole three bedrooms and the hallway and all the closets had to be replaced. I talked to customer service at Empire and told them to make sure that the people that they were sending out were experienced because the problem was with the installation, not so much the materials. Empire hired a bunch of green people that don't have proper training.
On a fourth appointment, Empire came out with a more experienced crew. So after two months, we finally got the carpeting replaced and put in correctly in by a more experienced crew and then asked for a discount from Empire because every time we had to do this, we had to move furniture. They agreed to give us back 25%.

What got me was the website had the picture. Plus, Empire specializes in flooring. The salesman, I was okay with. But he didn't have much of a personality. I was in sales for a long time. And if I was coming to somebody's home, I would say, "Boy, this really is beautiful. This is gonna look fantastic.” But he was just a dud. I would have come in and said, "Wow. Look at this." Even if we're not getting paid that much or having a bad day or it's a bad commission month, you still want to show some enthusiasm. When you're selling something, you should be a bit more animated and talkative than just sitting there. When he was here, he gave me a bit of an incentive to sign up on that day. I just wanted to get it done. So, I just signed up for it.
I was supposed to get it done on a certain date. I followed the instructions. I took all the pictures off the wall. I took everything that was breakable upstairs. The sales manager called me and said, "We can't come out tomorrow." Because they didn't have enough of the product and it was a day before the installation. I've been in sales before. I know things can happen. I talked to the guy and said, "That's okay. I'm just glad you called." I had to move all of my stuff upstairs. For two weeks, the house was in disarray. But I said, “I think it would be fair if you would compensate me.” He did take some money off and he was a nice guy. It was handled very well. All that did not damper my feelings on the experience I had with the floor.
The workmen were polite and very professional. And they did a beautiful job on the floor. They did the whole downstairs. There was a kitchen involved with the refrigerator. There was a toilet they had to take out. They had to take out a door. They put it back perfectly. The only thing that happened was I had a pedestal sink, and I had to have somebody come in and replace it. It had to be put back in. It cost me a bit of money for that. I asked the guy, I have a slide-in stove and when he put the flooring underneath the slide-in stove, it was raised a bit above my countertop. So I talked to the guy and said that was not right. What he did was he very neatly cut a little hole around the flooring and I couldn't even see it, and now it's flush with the counter.
I love the flooring that I got. It's beautiful. I want the upstairs done. But Empire didn't help me out very much. I just want to make sure that the flooring stays in stock because it's going to take me a while to save up the money to get the upstairs done. They want somebody to come out and look at it, but I'm not ready. I would hate to have somebody have come out here and do a measurement when I'm not ready. We'll just have to try it and see and maybe I can email. I just want to talk to somebody about, "Hey, is this flooring going to stay in stock? How long will it be? Is it going to stop circulation?" If I could just get a definitive, "Well, this is a very high selling floor. We're probably going to have this in stock for the next year or two or three," I'd feel more comfortable because it would be at least $10,000 to $12,000.

We hired Empire Today to install vinyl flooring in the bathrooms because of the way it stands up to water. The salesman gave us a quote and we had the flooring installed and it looked great. But within a few weeks the quarter round started to warp and pull away from the walls. After a few months it really started to look terrible and we called Empire and they sent some installers out to install new floors. They came into the bathrooms and inspected the damage and went outside and called their customer service department.
One of the techs came back in the house and handed me the phone. The customer service agent on the phone informed that they would charge me $125 to replace the substandard quarter-round with the same substandard quarter round. The materials they used were made of engineered or softwood, something clearly not meant to stand up to the humidity and occasional splash which occurs inside any bathroom. There are better and more appropriate products out there made of extruded plastic or solid vinyl but there were not offered as an option and at the time of our install I did not know any better. Empire Today failed to stand behind the workmanship of their products and I, for one, am very disappointed and will definitely not be recommending them to anyone who is seeking new floors.

They replaced it with laminate. I tried to match as closely as possible to the rest of the laminate that was engineered hardwood that was already in place. They did as well as could be expected because the house is 16 years old. But they weren't clear on the final price. It was different from what I had been quoted so, I had to get on the phone with the salesperson. English is not the chief installer’s first language so that was a little difficult. But when the installers got here, all of them said, “No. That's impossible. We can't do that.” So then I talked to the manager and he said, “Well, I'm gonna review and see if there's any price differences.” I already purchased a lot of wood to put down over the tile as he told me that I would need to have. So I had some piles of wood that they brought that I wasn't gonna be able to use. I told him, “Well, I don't think it should be any more than the original quote because they can take those back.” So we came to an agreement.
My house was like a warzone and I had to hire a professional cleaner to remediate the problem. The installers from Empire did have to pour more concrete on the slab because it wasn't level. So they worked real hard. The installer said, “No problem. I'll bring some plastic.” But then I had to step out and I thought that since he had the plastic, he was gonna put it. I had a lot of it covered as much as I could. But he didn't. They didn't really try to cover things up. Everything that I put in the garage to protect from them, they just put all their saws and wood and materials at the entrance of the garage and then got the garage covered in dust with all my doors open. It was so awful that my whole family including my cats were sick. But they were good craftsmen and after it was all said and done, I love my floors, but it was the worst process that I've ever had to deal with.

Jody, the woman I dealt with during the purchase, was nice. During the installation, the guys showed up and put the laminate floors in, and it went well. If Empire can make the floor cheaper, I would love that.

I had linoleum installed in our laundry room and carpet in our dining room. There was a little bit of issue with billing on the installation. It ended up becoming a bigger deal down the road. But the installation process was good. I was pleased with it. I'd use Empire again from that perspective. Pricing was really good. We're in the process of selling our home and we're looking for very inexpensive updates, and Empire had the best prices.

Empire had the best product and they could meet our price that we were looking to spend. We got carpet for the main floor, stairs and upstairs common area. The installers finished in a day. Our hot water tank broke the morning they were coming. So, I had a guy bringing a new hot water tank in. They made sure that they accommodated him coming in the house to fix it and get the old one out. So, the installers were awesome. We will be doing our bedrooms here probably in the next year or two, and we will definitely call Empire again. The quality is there, which is the main thing for me. Then, I like the friendly staff that works with you and does their best to try to get the price you want.

I used Empire about 20 years ago for a carpet in my grandmother's house and we had a good experience then, so we went with them again. I got carpet for my upstairs. Everything was fine. The only thing is it was raining on the scheduled day of installation, and they wouldn't do it because they couldn't cut the carpet outside, which I thought was odd. So, we had to reschedule. Other than that, I like the quality of the product. It's good. We're happy with it.

We contacted customer service after we noticed some bubbling in our carpet that was installed Sept 2020. Initially, they were responsive to our request and asked that we submit pictures of the area. We supplied them with photos and were contacted the next day with their decision. Since our installation warranty was only good for 1 year, they were going to charge us for the price of the stretching. When asked if they normally see bubbling after 16 months, they replied 'no'. This left us to believe that this was outside of the norm yet they were still not willing to offer correction of the problem without charging us. In addition, while discussing our dissatisfaction with their decision, their rep hung up on me twice. After the second time, I called back and requested to speak to the manager. He was much more apologetic, however stuck to his guns on the resolution. We will never recommend or use Empire ever again.
Julie, we're sorry that you had this experience. We're investigating this and we'll be contacting you soon to follow up about this.

Empire did a great job. With them, we could get the job done soon. One thing that I regret is not going with the other products because I suspect that they had better padding available or a better price.

The sales rep and installation team were all great. I called Empire and the sales rep came out on a Saturday and then we were installing on Monday. It went fast. It was perfect timing, especially with the crazy COVID and the holiday. Overall, they did great work, from the sales rep to the installation to the cleanup. Everyone was polite and courteous, and it was nice. I like the vinyl planking and I love its color.

They did a really good job with the installation, but there were some things that happened that I didn't understand and I had to call them. The guy that I thought was gonna be the leader left with no word, not telling me that he was leaving and why or if he was coming back. Then they left a young guy there all by himself. They did not speak English and then about 5:00, someone else showed up who spoke very little English, and they finished up the flooring. So poor communication was one of the biggest things because I couldn't understand them.

Empire Today had a sale so I reached out to them, and they came and did the estimate. They were cheaper than the people I had an account with. It was an easier process than I thought it would be. And Empire allowed me to pick my timeframe. So, I chose what day I wanted it done. And they were able to get it done in one day, which was awesome. It just took a few hours. I recommended Empire to my dad. He got his carpet done too.

When we reached out, everybody was accommodating. The sales guy was great. We pretty much knew what we wanted, so there wasn’t a whole lot into it. He just provided us with samples and we chose what we liked. Everything was pretty smooth. The laminate flooring was installed in two days. We liked the work. Everything was pretty decent.
