The sales rep went out of town right after he made their sale, so we had follow-up questions we couldn't get answered. But in the end, it all worked out fine. The installation went very well. The group that came to our house was excellent. I had my flooring replaced in the living room, kitchen, and bathroom and had laminate flooring installed. I really like the new flooring.

Empire installed linoleum wood floor. The only thing was the person that came out and helped me pick the stuff was a little lacking but the installers were amazing. Also, there were a few things that needed touch-up and they came right away. I was hoping the floor would be a little more durable but it's very nice.

In the last year, I had carpet installed by Empire in three different rooms. Their latest visit was for my family room. I liked the way the carpet looked better. It's pretty simple. I had fewer choices. It was soft on my feet and it was reasonably priced, too. I did buy other carpet for upstairs at the same time from another company. They installed it poorly and it's twice as expensive. The Empire team that came in and installed was very professional. Overall, Empire did a good job at a reasonable price with the product that I'm happy with.

    Updated review: Dec. 20, 2021

Update——Empire resolved my issue and installed my carpet. The carpet was installed one day late but it was done. The installers worked very hard the day of installation. They worked over 9 hours to cover our large order. I wish we didn’t have to go through the stress of cutting it close to Thanksgiving day, but it was resolved. Much to my disappointment I noticed other people complaining about missed installed dates. I wouldn’t have order from this company if I knew there was an install problem.

    Original Review: Nov. 24, 2021

Purchase carpet scheduled install 11/23/21 and we were concern about the date being so close to Thanksgiving due to company coming over. Well no delivery, no one contacted us to reschedule. Have a house full of displaced furniture. Very upset!! Please beware of bad communication and concern for customer service. My holiday is ruined.

I like my flooring. It's good quality. The people that came in and put the flooring down did a good job. The trim work wasn't the best I've seen. But it's okay. However, I'm a little upset that Empire Today advertised half off and 75% off, but of course, they showed me all these pieces of flooring. I would say what I want, they would say, “Oh, well, that's not on sale.” They just charged it to me so I paid full price for my flooring. I wasn’t happy about that. I had flooring in my hallway, kitchen, and both bathrooms, and new carpet on my staircase. The carpet was not on sale, which I understood. But the first original wood work that I had done, no one told me that that wasn't part of the sale. So I said, “Well, this must be really expensive flooring.” And when the second guy came to do my stairs, he said, “No, that's not part of the stuff on sale.” I thought that was crummy. Don't come out here with the idea I would get a half-priced sale, then nevermind.

Empire installed carpet and it was well-priced because they were having a sale on it. The installers did a pretty good job. It's just that my wife had found some staples on the floor that should have been cleaned up. We have a one year old daughter, so that was a little concerning. We also found some cigarette butts in our driveway, which my wife and I weren't happy with. But I know they contract out a lot of their work, so the workers aren't necessarily direct with Empire. There was one thing they had to fix and they promptly came back and remedied the situation. Overall, I would recommend them.

We've used Empire Today over the years. We've had carpeting installed down the basement. In the last six months, we used them in South Jersey at the beach house to do carpeting. Then we just used them to do a wood look type of flooring in my master bedroom in our other house. I love Empire. They’re a great company. I have had contractors come to put in carpeting for us. It took them two days just to move the furniture, another day to put the carpeting in, and then another day to put the furniture back. These guys from Empire are in and out in a matter of hours and they clean everything up. It's perfect. You might pay a few dollars more, but it's not significant. It's well-worth it.

Everything about Empire is great. The only thing is they would do a hell of a lot more business if they had a bigger selection of items. I would have done a higher end floor in my bedroom. I wanted a gray. I kind of just went with what they had to offer, and it was minimal. I have a choice of maybe three different items to choose from. If they wanted to get more of an upscale clientele, they should have more selection.

He had several different types of samples, explained how they would install them, and he answered all of my questions. Then the installation guys arrived on time and they immediately showed me the product. They asked which direction I would want it to go and I told them to go lengthwise from the front door to the back. They installed engineered hardwood flooring, kind of a medium maple color, in the living room and in the office. It's just that I've noticed there's the wood thing that goes around the perimeter and there’s one place where it looks like it’s coming up a tiny bit. I had a bad experience with a friend of mine who has a carpet cleaning business and he started installing on the side and it was a nightmare. It dragged on for weeks trying to get it done. I went with Empire and part of the appeal for me was that they're a machine. I picked an initial color of the carpet because I had part of the stairs done by this guy who messed up. Empire tried to carpet match and then came out for the first install. It was the right color, but once the guys got a full sheet and we matched it, it didn't look good. They encouraged me not to do it because they didn't think it would ultimately look good, which was the right decision at the end. I appreciate the fact that they were honest about it and they didn't just throw it in against their better judgment. At the end of the day, I wanted it done, and it got done within a week or so.

The only thing was that sometimes there was a disconnect to what salespeople knew and what installers knew. We needed a leveler and it was like the transition strip between our kitchen and our living room on the one side. I wanted to go with a gold metal color and the salesperson told me that would be fine. The previous owners put a wood one down, but it didn't make sense because there was no hardwood in the kitchen. When the guys got here to do the install, they said that the only metal one that they have was not a leveler. It has to be flat. Empire doesn't make or carry a gold metal leveler transition strip because our living room is slightly lower than the tile floor in the kitchen, so they have to use one that goes down to it.

I called the sales guy back and he told me that if I went and bought it, they would come back and install it. He just didn't know enough about the details of the product, which was understandable 'cause he was only a part of the machine. But when I called to rectify it, I wasn't pleased with that portion of it because Empire should have been the one to find the solution.

Nobody came on my first appointment with Empire. They told me the material was not in. Another visit was scheduled two days later but the material was still not there. Another schedule was made a week later. The workers came out and they were very considerate and they did a great job. But they didn't have enough material and only came in to do half of the job. Everything was on backorder.

I spoke with the manager and asked, "Can you tell me you guys are gonna have the material together tomorrow?" He couldn't guarantee that. I said, "I can't guarantee your check is gonna clear, then." He then said, "Don't pass. I don't care." He just won't do the job. He was extremely rude and he told me he was doing me a favor by not charging me for the extra material while my house was being ripped apart. I did maintenance for years and I told him, "If I was putting a roof on, I made sure I had enough shingles. How would you feel if you had somebody come out to your house to put your roof on and they ran out of shingles?" His response was, "I wouldn't have to hire anybody. I would do it myself."

I contacted my sales rep, who was also excellent, and he told me he also had problems with this manager. He should be fired or put in the field to let him see what he's doing wrong and how these poor workers are coming out and getting yelled at. I filed a complaint against this manager and the way he talked to me. Empire never got back to me. I will never ever ever in a million years recommend or do any business with Empire again ever.

My first experience with Empire Today was wonderful. They did exactly what they said they were going to do. We used them again and had the vinyl flooring installed in the dining room, kitchen, hallway, bedroom, and living room. We love the product. It would have been way cheaper if we did it ourselves, but it was a lot of work. Because we had tile to come out in the hallway and the kitchen had to be chipped out. But the cost was higher than what I expected it would be by about $1,000.

When we bought the flooring, the salesman told us that it would take a day to a day and a half to put in. He said the subcontractors normally tell you to plan for two days. So I had to take time off work. The installation guy only worked three hours on the first day, and then left by noon. Then he came back the next day and worked all day. But then he had to come back the next day because he didn't finish. I don't know why they only did three hours and left. There wasn't any reason to. There was so much more work that could have been done. So I missed three days of work. I contacted Empire about it but I never heard anything back from them.

When the installers chipped out the tiles, they used a grinder to grind it all down afterward. But they didn’t cover things, so it took my husband and I about a day and a half to wash all the walls. We also had to clean every curtain and blanket. The white dust was even in my cabinet, and all over my dishes and the canned goods. It was crazy. If they would have told us what to expect, we could have prepared better. We were surprised they didn't put drop cloths over things. They put a drop cloth over one counter beside the stove, and that was it. Everything else was still open.

I had vinyl tile installed in an investment property and my son who lives there is happy with it. Empire Today did a good job although they need to improve on their finance department. The floor has been installed for two months and now, they're saying that the financing was never approved. So that's been a hassle. I have plenty of credit to put that floor in with excess and I did. It shows up on my Wells Fargo account that the available credit is gone. So, I don't know why it can't go to the Empire account that I already have. They called me the day before Thanksgiving and I'm supposed to call them back but I haven't. As far as the going out to the house, doing the measurements and putting the floor, Empire did great and I would definitely recommend them. It's just this has been a little sketchy with the financing portion.

I had laminate floors put down when Empire Today supposedly had a big sale as I knew they’re expensive to do. Their sales rep was very good and very polite. She knew what she was doing and she explained to me about their products. I wish I’d listened to her because she recommended the lighter one since the room is a little darker. After they installed the floors, I realized that she was right. The installers were so good as well. At the time, I had a lot going on and they helped me move things. Empire has to keep them because they were hard-workers. They went from the front to the back and the work they did was very good. But I realized something that laminates are loud. There's an echo when you walk so, I just put carpet down where most of the traffic is. Other than that, the floors are good quality.

The experience with Empire has been good but I haven't finished with them yet. I had a carpet installed, which was supposed to be padded and they glued it. Also, the carpet was 28 feet long and it came longer so they cut it on my driveway and they cut into my driveway. But they're going to take care of it supposedly. I haven't gotten the estimate for the driveway and they haven't gotten back to me. They came and did another inspection on what they did on the rug. According to them, that was how the rug was supposed to be put in. The one who sold it me told me that there was no problem that it was going to be with a cushion on it but when the installers glued it, you can see all the bumps that the floor had and you can feel it when you walk on the rug.

Empire Today laid hardwood floors in three rooms in a home that I purchased. The installation was good and the people seemed to know what they were doing. But my wife didn't like that they were cutting wood within the garage. There was sawdust and they kept walking in it and bringing it all in the house. There’s got to be a better way to do that. They made an effort to clean up and they cleaned it up probably 80% but it was a messy business. It has been a couple of weeks and things look fine. The rest of the house had hardwood and these match up very nicely with them. It was a little more expensive than I was expecting to pay, but things are what they are. They had a no interest finance plan with Wells Fargo, which I got, so we're paying it off over the next couple of months.

I had two reps. The first was great and the second one was fine. But the first installation was a nightmare. The installers never showed up until late in the afternoon. And then it seemed like they had rushed through the job and they cut some corners. When I inquired about it, they said, “No, no. That's how we do it.” It wasn't until the new installers that came in October saw the work of the first installers that they said, “That's not right. You need to give Empire a call.”. So I have somebody coming to repair the first installers' cut corners.

Other than that, we love the flooring we have. Everything has been a good experience. It's so easy to get Empire on the phone to make an appointment to have somebody come out to sell us a product. But afterward, trying to get in touch with somebody if I have an issue was one of the hardest things.

They did a good job installing it though. The sales rep was also very nice. He knew what he was talking about for sure. He asked me if I want to finance, what the payments could be. He gave me different options and he was good with that. He was very empathetic to my fund and my resources. The installers didn't speak English though. There was a cat up there and it did a lot of pee there, so I asked if I could come and spray some stuff. They said, "No problem." There was a hole in my wood before they put the pad down. I had a piece of wood there, but it came out. They nailed it down for me and were very polite, quiet, did the job and left. I love the flooring. They're beautiful, the chocolate flush, fluffy rug.

The price and the options with Empire Today were good, and the installation date was much better. The other ones couldn't get anything done for at least six to eight weeks. With Empire, we were scheduled about two weeks out but they ended up having the product in stock, so they installed the next day. We weren't quite prepared for that when they were setting up the appointment in November so, it was amazing. The guys came the next day. They gave us a time range that came toward the end of it but they did well. The only issue we had was that the estimator slightly underestimated the amount of flooring we had. So, the installer had to pick up initially two more boxes and then, they had to go pick up one box to finish up the job. But they still got it done in a quick time and they were fast and efficient about it.

We had laminate flooring installed in the entire downstairs and the two bathrooms upstairs. The trim is so-so but that’s because we had them install our old trim because we're going to replace it and it was so-so before installation. So, it didn't look any better and it didn't look any worse. But the flooring itself looks fantastic. I like the waterproof quality of the flooring plus the look. We have a couple of aging dogs that have been having accidents lately, so we needed something waterproof for the dogs, and it has definitely been a lifesaver in that aspect.

Three weeks ago, we got ahold of our sales guy and sent him the pictures and the video. We told him that it's almost like it's from two different dye batches, so it's not completely off, but it's off enough to where I notice it. I had carpet installed in one bedroom, the dining room, the living room and two closets. The first people who came did a poor job. I told the salesman when they were here that there should be something done special in that transition between the carpet. The guy said that they would know what to do but they didn't. They did a horrible job. They did the same thing with the two closets and in the pantry, the installers just cut the carpet and put it on there.

Three weeks later, the carpets became loose in the pantry, in one of the closets and in the entrance. So, I called Empire Today and two gentlemen came and glued it. They also fixed two of the other closet entries and the part where the transition was made between the carpet and the tiles. They also mentioned that they can't do anything now but that the staircase going up to the second floor was done poorly. They said that I had a year. But I don't know how well those stairs are going to hold up. I hope they don't get detached.

I can't be satisfied with what happened. Also, the second time when the installers came, they told me it was going to be on a Monday. I took my time from work to be here but nobody showed up and nobody called me. I had to call Empire, which is a horrible thing to do because the phone was just ringing and they hold you there. The first time was 35 minutes and the second time was 35 minutes. I was not going through customer service. They were not picking up or something was going on. So, I went into sales so they would pay attention to me. I told them that I've been here all day and nobody told me that they were not coming. They said they didn't have the product. I said that it would have been nice if somebody called me and told me that. The installers came on Tuesday and they called me early in the morning, telling me that they were going to be coming over around 12:00.

They are horrible to do business with. I’ve never been so angry at a contractor in my life. Not only did the installation team steal money from my home when they installed my carpet last month, but today the installers refused to install my laminate due to the floors being “uneven” after we specifically spoke with the sales person about it and they said it wasn’t a problem. We’ve been waiting months for this install and had everything prepped for today. We called customer service and left several messages. Only way we finally got through is by calling over and over.

We finally spoke to someone and they basically told us it was not their problem and we needed to hire a subcontractor to fix the floor. My husband spent the day ripping out the old floor (which he could’ve done beforehand had your company told us we needed to), but we will be hiring someone else to do the job because of the extremely unprofessional and unacceptable dealings we’ve had up to this point. Worst flooring company ever.

I was supposed to have a bathroom floor and carpet installed by Empire. I ordered it at the end of July, and they were able to come and do the small bathroom upstairs. They came and did the vinyl and they did a really nice job. I went up to see if the guys wanted water and they were putting the vinyl flooring down on our original subfloor. It said in the contract that they were going to put a luan board down first. I said, "Are we not getting the luan board?" They said, "We have it, but it just looked okay. So, we decided to just do it without. But if you want it, we'll change it." I said, "I do because we paid for it." They were really nice about it.

Then, they were scheduled to come on the 21st of August. They were doing two upstairs bedrooms and a hallway and two rooms downstairs. We worked and we took everything out of these rooms to get them ready. They were supposed to call that morning but I didn't hear anything. I finally called but I was on hold for 45 minutes. I tried the live chat, that was down.

Finally, they got back to me and said, "We're not going to be able to make it today." They gave me a date in September. I said, "Everything is out of our room." They said, "Okay, let me check," and they said, "Okay, we can get you in tomorrow," and that was a Saturday, the 22nd. I canceled everything I was supposed to be doing, we waited but nobody called again. I finally got through and they said, "No, they're still coming and they'll stay till the job's completed." But they never came and they never called. They gave me a lady's name to call and I called her many times and always got an answering machine and she never returned my call.

I called Sunday, Monday. I waited a couple of days. Called Wednesday and they just weren't returning my calls. I would go through the thing on the computer on the website and as soon as I got to a certain point where I put my name and address in, it shut me off. They made me feel like such a terrible person because I kept calling. I know I was getting agitated by the end. I was leaving not as nice messages. I was like, "I don't understand how you can do business like this."

I finally got this really nice lady and she said, "Honey, that's terrible. Let me get you through to a manager." I got through to a manager and he offered to knock a couple of hundred dollars off. I said, "It's not even the money anymore. I just want it done." He said that he would refund the money and it might take 30 days. I was a little frustrated about that too, but I didn't say anything. When the lady called me, she left a message. I have my phone right there and I called her right back but she didn't answer. By that time, I had already checked and I had gotten the refund. So, they were good about the refund. That was fine.

But it was just a frustrating experience because they even lied that Saturday they were supposed to come. They said the installer called me several times and I never answered. I sat at my kitchen table with my cellphone beside me. Even if you get a missed call, your cellphone tells you but I didn't get any missed calls. They didn't call. I don't think they ever had any intention of coming. They just told me that to appease me the day before because I was crying because it caused a lot of problems with my husband and he was very angry with me because he said I didn't research things enough.

They did a nice job. But the rest of it was awful. Wait time was hours and the people that I would talk to would say, "I'm going to pass this on and you will definitely hear from somebody within 24 hours," but it never was. Nobody ever got back to me that was supposed to. My daughter had used Empire and she had some frustration. They didn't come when they said they were going to. But when they finally did, they did a nice job. I knew that going in, but I figured that was a fluke with her. So, we hadn't had carpet. We had our original carpet in our house and we had installed hardwood floor ourselves.

Empire installed manufactured hard in July. I'm not too happy with the installation and I called them as I was concerned about the gapping in the wood. They sent the installation guys back out but they couldn’t promise that the gapping would be any different because it's a manufacturer issue. I chose not to have it re-laid and just leave it as it is because there was no guarantee the flooring would be any better than what it already was. They did have to replace a few of the hardwood. They did some repairs because some of the wood had already started to splinter. I paid top dollar for the flooring and right now, it is what it is. I'm dissatisfied and would not recommend Empire.

I was redoing my kitchen and thought of redoing my floor. Empire put the carpet throughout my whole house about 10 years prior and I was happy with them then. Having known the work that they did, I went back to them. That was a mistake now because the subcontracting that Empire has is substandard. Three gentlemen put in the kitchen floor and the foyer. The foyer is wider than what it started out to be. There were nails coming up through the transition plates. Some of the moldings were put on shoddily and they said I could just caulk it to fill in the gaps, but it fell off the wall. The transition plates that they put in my closet were so big that I couldn't get the doors back on. They told me to cut the doors off, and I couldn't. My husband figured it out and we actually could get it back on there. But I'm still not happy with it.

Going out of my kitchen door into the garage, they couldn't put a transition plate there so it was just kind of a drop-off. They also left a bunch of nails exposed. When I walked out into my garage, I stepped on several of them. I called and told Empire about it, and they said that there was nothing that could be done because it was a subcontractor. I told them that they were supposed to be behind this. So, I just said to put the carpet in and we'd figure out how to fix the other pieces.

The carpet guy came out and he said it was all wrong. He called the office and he spoke to a Dana, and Dana said she took down my complaint and that someone would call me within three to five business days. No one called. I got on the website and filed a formal complaint. Brandy called me back saying she'd send somebody out. I told her not to send the same guys who installed it because if they installed it wrongly, I surely don't want them to be the ones fixing it. She said that it wouldn't happen.

Who came today? The same crew that installed it. What did they do? They stood there arguing with me that they did a good job. I asked them about the nails. I told them I don't want anything else from them and I won't debate with them anymore. This guy said that my husband was there and saw what they were doing so he should have said something then. When the salesman came out, he told us what could be done and we didn't get it. I should have known when the guys came to install the floor, they came in a utility truck that looks like it's been rolled, so I was concerned about the quality then.

This is what I get for being a loyal customer. I'm not feeling like it's getting resolved. I don't even know what to do at this point and I still have carpet that I want to get put in. It seems like we have to settle for what the contractors can and can't do, and that's not okay. I could have gone to someone else. The carpet guy was another contender.

The installation for the first job was great. In the second one, it was first thing in the morning and the installers were very fast in their installation. They were a little rough. There was a lot of paint scraped off the fireplace and they didn’t clean up afterwards. There was no vacuuming and there were lots of little carpet fibers left everywhere. So, we had to do that ourselves, which was not the end of the world. My wife was probably more frustrated about the amount of paint being chipped and having to repaint all the trim boards in the fireplace. But outside of that, Empire Today did a nice job with the install. The gentleman who came to the house originally and quoted us did a nice job and the quality of the product and everything was fine. It's just that the installers were sloppy with the installation.

I asked him if he would be the person that would be coming out to actually go over all the details with me, and he said yes, and I said, “Okay. Come on out.” He did a great job. I would use him again anytime. I'm going to get new floors at the beginning of next year in a couple of other rooms. So I'm definitely going to call him back for that. Also, the availability of the product was fine. Everything was done within three weeks.

The installation day was a little rough. The guy that came in, did the flooring in the living room, and the laminate was great. I noticed that there were stains on the actual concrete that he thought may have been pet stains from the previous owner, so he asked me if it was okay if he put down bleach before he put down the floor so there would be no pet smell at all, which was awesome. He was super professional and he was done within three hours. So that was nice. But I had different installers for the carpet. They broke my front door and it took them all day to do the bedrooms, which I understand because carpet is harder. But there were several hours during the day that they were sitting out in the truck. But they still did well.

We were looking for durability because we have small children and even if we decided to sell, it was something nice to be able to say we have the luxury vinyl flooring in the house. Everything went well from the time the reps from Empire Today told us they were going to install. Everything went very smoothly but during the installation, we noticed that the color wasn't the same in an area. We were told initially that the floors were good to just lay down the material but then, the installer came and we were told that we needed a subfloor before they could even get started. They had that as well so it didn't delay much of the process.

About halfway through, we had the colors that didn't match so the installer had to go back again to the company and get us some more material. When he came back, it was still not the right color. So, I have been trying to call and get someone to call me back to have them bring the correct color because we have some that are not matching. But the process itself was simple. It was very user-friendly from the beginning and I have no complaints. Once everything was done though, I haven't heard from the installer and I haven't heard from anyone in the company as to what the plan could be to come and fix those in our stairwell.

I thought choosing Empire was going to be cost-effective. and that it was the better deal. But in the long run, it wasn't a better deal. They source out the work. So the people who work for Empire are not employees of Empire. They’re subcontractors. If I wanted a subcontractor, I could have gone and got a subcontractor.

Awful experience with Empire Florida. First- I have used Empire for years on multiple rehabs and rentals in Ohio. I have nothing but good things to say. I used Empire Florida for my personal condo and have had nothing but an awful experience. The work is shoddy and Tim, the installation manager, refuses to return calls. We had the living room flooring laid last month and waited on the kitchen and bath until we decided if we wanted to extend the laminate floor or replace with tile. We were assured if we removed the existing tile and replaced with laminate the flooring could easily be extended.

We decided to remove the tile and have the laminate laced into the kitchen and bath. The crew that came out yesterday said they were not allowed touch the work done by a previous crew and therefore could not lace the laminate into a seamless floor from the living room into the kitchen and bath. Instead they cut the laminate where the pieces butted up against each other. They did add a threshold strip- which is now an unsightly tripping hazard. Each crew also used different quarter round to finish the floor- the first crew used white and the 2nd wood grain. Because they would not touch the previous crew's work they also did not miter the mismatched quarter round. Overall the entire thing is an embarrassing example of shoddy work.

We had a new house purchase and we had hardwood throughout except for three areas and we wanted to carpet them in a timely manner that was affordable. I looked at Lowe's and Home Depot, but Empire was a better price point and could do it in my timeframe. The salesperson that came out was very punctual. He had more samples available, but he only brought a few in based on what we talked about. I said that I wanted to do the quote and then think about it.

Then immediately, like Empire, a different part of the company reached out and tried to offer a better price, and that was called a rehash team. I was back and forth with this rehash team ‘cause Empire was about $700 over where I wanted to be at, and I was trying to get that price point where I wanted it. The person that kept reaching out didn't have the authority to do that. But they eventually figured out and talked with a supervisor, and the supervisor said, “That's fine.” Brian came back out and we did the contract. He was unable to put that price in his system, but he assured me that it'd be fixed on the backend. It would be nicer if that was smoother, plus if it didn't have to happen like if the person that shows up to the house can offer the best price instead of going back and forth with the main company in a different location.

When we did the install, it was scheduled. Moses, the installer, was coming a very long distance from picking up the carpet to his first job. Then his first job of the day took all day so he wasn't going to be able to do my carpet until about 5 o'clock on a Friday night. That would not work. He couldn't do it the next day, Saturday, but he could do it Monday. He showed up on that day and did a nice job.

But Brian didn't order enough carpet because when he measured the house, it was 660, and he said he uses 800 for overages. It was like the price that I was charged was based off of 800 square feet. But when Moses showed me the work order, he said that it's for 661, and he was literally 3 feet shy. No one could tell me how much I was actually charged for. That was a very annoying part ‘cause I tried to follow up on that. They had to wait an extra week to reorder the carpet and come back and do the last room. Again, Moses came, did his job, and cleaned up.

The whole process itself was aggravating on top of all the other jobs I have going on. Better communication could have been had from the beginning and I'm still wondering if I paid for an extra 140 square feet of carpet when I didn’t get it. Well, in the end, I did, because a whole new piece was ordered, which I wasn't charged for, which was good. But it was unnecessary. If I had based my deadline on the original install on Friday that never happened, what if I tried to move in the next day because the job should have been done? I had the flexibility not to do that because then I would have had to move furniture and all that stuff where I had a totally empty house. It was frustrating. But in the end, we've been in our house for a week and the carpet seems fine.

We had the rep come for a quote and he showed us some really good options. We did a couple of different options. For the two rooms, we did a vinyl planking. I didn't think I was going to be able to do a vinyl wood look because we have hardwood floors and I wasn't sure that the rep was going to be able to show me anything that lived up to the hardwood floors. But the vinyl wood planks are really, really nice. Then we did three rooms with a white marble look and those are really nice too. We didn't think we were going to want to go with white, but we love it. Then we did three rooms of gray vinyl tile. My mom also lives here and she really liked the gray tile. We also did a couple of areas carpeted and the carpet is really, really nice. So everything was all above what our expectations were.

We split up the installation between two different days. They had multiple days available, which was really good. We waited two weeks from when we booked the job. But that was our choice because we had some rooms we needed to paint. So for one floor, we did a week after we booked it. For the second floor, we did two weeks. There were two different companies that came and they both did really good jobs. They were both really nice and they asked our opinions.

We had our rooms pretty much emptied out to make the process go smoother and faster and it worked out really well. Unfortunately, we didn't empty out the closets and the poor people had to do that on their own. For each appointment, we had two days scheduled for the installation. But it only took them one day for each appointment. So that was really good.

My wife and I recently decided to remodel our guest bedroom, and in doing so, we were debating on carpet or hardwood flooring. My wife saw that Empire was having a 50% off sale, and ~6 yrs ago they carpeted 3x rooms for us for ~$1,675.00, so we decided to give them a call again for a quote. After seeing the ad, I noted that it stated “select” carpets which I interpreted as any carpet except the ones you’re interested in. Nonetheless, the sales rep showed up and I inquired about the 50% off selection. I was informed that it was for a plush carpet and did not apply to the carpets I had previous chosen; the sales rep already knew what our past installation was. She stated that she had a different, similar, style that she could apply some “coupons & discounts” to but that there were no current sales on our previous selection.

She took the measurements of the room in question and began working up her quotes and presented 3 to me; one for the “50% off” carpet, one for the one similar to our previous installation and one for the same carpet we chose before. The quotes were $900, $1,000 and $1,625; respectively. In other words, she wanted to charge us just about the same price to carpet one room that we paid to have previously carpeted three room, and I had already pulled up the old carpet and padding and the tack strips were already in place and in reusable. Taken back by this I asked what the price/sqft was and was told the similar carpet was priced at $4.40 /sqft and the same carpet we had before was now $7.25 /sqft. After receiving this information, I quickly did the math to see what she measured the room at and immediately knew I was dealing with a dishonest sales rep.

If looking at the quote for the same carpet we previously had, the room was measured at ~224 sqft. If looking at the similar carpet quote the room measured at 227 sqft; the room is actually 154 Sqft. So this tells me she padded her quote by adding square footage, ~70 sqft which is far greater than a %10 waste if they would even need that w/carpet…cut it square, cut to fit room…done! The math is even off on the “50% off” quote which using 224 – 227 Sqft would leave the price per sqft @ ~$3.96 - $4.01 / sqft! How is that 50% off!

I don’t know if this is company policy or the malicious nature of a dishonest sales rep but either way, it reflect poorly on the company and does not tend to building long term repeat customers. We’ve decided to go with hardwood flooring since it's cheaper…I highly advise knowing the measurements of your rooms prior to the sales rep coming and asking what they measure the room at as well as the price/sqft they are charging you…

The installers broke a leg off my table and they popped a hole in my wall. It wasn't their fault though. There were only the two of them and when they took the baseboard off, that had my door stopper on it. When they came in the front door, they put the doorknob in the wall. Things happen. The table could have been the way it was flipped over. Now, I had the wall fixed. I took a picture of the receipt and sent Empire the picture of the receipt. But it's a small company and they don't have a letterhead. I'm out $300 for my wall because I don't have a letterhead with their name on it. I have a business card. I'm upset. I like the product of Empire, but I don't like the way I'm being treated.

I had some carpeting and some laminate flooring from Empire Today. I called to schedule an appointment for someone to come out and that went well. Then, they came out, offered me different selections, and installation was set up. The installer reported on the day and at the time that they said he would but I had an issue and he had to come back and fix that.

I also called them because I thought that they did the 50-50. But they charged you for removing the floor and replacing the floor. So, in my kitchen area and my foyer connected to my kitchen, the gentleman did not remove the flooring. He just put the laminate on top of it. But he removed the flooring in the den and in the other hallway. So, I called to ask them if I paid for them to remove that floor because it was written on the contract that the floor was supposed to be removed and they were supposed to take it with them, then they were supposed to replace the floor. So, one of the women that I called said she'd get somebody to call me back and I should hear something in 24 to 48 hours.

After I did not hear from them, I called back again and this other lady that answered said that sometimes they don't remove the floor and sometimes they just put the new one over the old one. But I told her that it was written in that contract that they would do so and that I paid for it, so I wanted to know if I paid for them to remove this flooring and they did not do it. And if so, I needed my money back. She told me she was going to have a manager call me, but that has yet to happen.

The sales process with Empire was great. However, I'm having issues with the installation. I haven't had a great experience. I purchased the product. I had to put a down payment down. The earliest they had for installation was three weeks out, which wasn't a major issue. But, on the day of my installation, they called. The installer didn't come to work. They wanted me to call back and reschedule.

When I called back and tried to reschedule, I couldn't get ahold of anybody. I left several messages. Nobody ever returned my phone call. Finally, I got ahold of a manager who then referred me to another manager because he wasn't in charge of that area. Left that manager a message. Never got a return phone call. Finally got a call a week later for my installation. I'm currently waiting right now. They said it could be anywhere from 8 am to 6 pm, which is crazy. I'm literally sitting here all day, waiting for people to come and install my carpet.

After I had my rooms done, there were trails of ants in each room after they got there. When I called, they said it must be due to the weather. That’s not due to the weather. I called twice. Salesman Tom ** stayed on top of the order and made sure everything went smoothly after the first incident. Special Thanks to Tom ** and David ** for making this right. We finally had the carpet installed today, the installer were very courteous and meticulous with their and the carpet looks amazing and we are very happy with the result.

We scheduled free consultation to get carpeting for our second floor, of course they show up on time for that. He starts by showing us the carpets that are apparently high quality and are on "sale", so we went ahead picked on of them and completed the booking process. Now a day before installation, after we have confirmed our appointment, we received a call saying they don't have carpet in stock and we need to pick something in stock to make the appointment ?!?! We were reluctant with all the bad reviews, so we double/triple checked with sales person, he even called somebody back in office to check on carpet availability and date availability. After confirmation & payment process, now we have to pick something they have "available". Such a waste of time and effort with this company. Reading other reviews, it just feels like this scam.

The cost was right about par for what I was looking at and the quality was definitely better. I also like how fast they were able to do things and I really liked the saleslady. She was upfront with me about everything and tried to give me the best deal possible. The flooring is awesome. I haven’t had any problems with it so far. However, there was a little hiccup during the first installation. They weren't given enough product when they came out. When I tried to reschedule, it took quite a while to get a hold of anybody.

We did laminate flooring with Empire. We had several estimates. The quality and cost were fairly even across the board. What was really the key was how quickly it could get done with Empire. The sales rep was also very professional. He seemed knowledgeable about the trade, as well as all the products and any deals that were going on as well.

There were two gentlemen that installed and they came right on time. They were kind enough to move the furniture that we hadn’t yet moved. The whole job was done in a timely, professional manner. I would recommend their service. They were quick to respond with inquiries about estimates as well as update us on the project. The professionalism of the install crew was some of the best we've had. The flooring has good quality, too. There are no real loose boards. All the quarter round, everything is nailed down securely. Our 15-month-old has tested that.

Empire sent a woman out here and she was very nice and knowledgeable. She had some samples with her. I was having one room of laminate flooring put down and a little hallway and a closet in there. We talked about everything and got it all squared away. We filled out the papers for it to be done. I clearly mentioned to her, my furniture will need to be moved. She said, "Oh yeah." I'm almost 80 and I can't move this furniture.

From the time I spoke with her and gave her the down payment, it was a good three weeks before I got a call that they were setting. I asked the woman, "Can you tell me who is coming so I know who it is?" She said, "Roberto." I said, "How many people will there be?" She said, "They usually have at least three." Then she said, "We have one problem. Because there's nothing down here for the cost of moving the furniture."

I said, "The woman and I talked about it and she said, ‘Oh, that's fine.’ She said they would be moving the furniture.” She said, "I don't know, but there's nothing here about moving the furniture." I said, "I can't do it." She said, "I'll call the girl that had come out and we'll get back." I waited till afternoon and I called her and she acted like she knew what had happened. But she said, "Let me call and I'll call you right back." She called me back within 15 minutes and said, "It'll only be $30 to move your furniture." I said, "Okay. That's fine."

She said, “They'll call you first.” He did and his name was Julio. He was super polite and nice. He spoke not very good English. He did a great job. He was very careful. As soon as he got here, the first thing he had to do was call and find out what I still owed. I had to pay for it right then. He started working and he moved my furniture. I felt sorry for him because he was by himself. He got here at 9:00 in the morning and he left at 10 o'clock at night. It was more than a one-man job. It was either that or he was trying to be very conscientious at what he did. But it was only one room plus a little hallway.

Customer # **. Previously I utilized EMPIRE Carpet and was very pleased and recommended them to family and friends, who gave them business as well. I even requested the same sales representative thinking they would do the exact measurements as previously, however he measured again and we placed another order.

This installation was installed improperly due to the carpet being cut incorrectly. The installer informed us that it was improperly cut and would require more seams. However we had it installed anyway because we had our entire downstairs furniture removed awaiting the install which took several hours. The seams are only feet apart from each other due to being cut improperly. The quality of the carpet is poor as well. Now, the seams are pulling up, the carpet has waves in it and it's very noticeable. There are only two of us in my residence and it is NOT a heavy traffic area.

I contacted EMPIRE via email and requested a service representative respond out to look what can be done. I had specific instructions from EMPIRE as to how pictures were to be taken of the seams and forwarded to their customer service Abigail. EMPIRE responded out and the service representative agreed with the improper installation as well and said he would speak/refer with his supervisor about it. Now I'm informed by Abigail after requesting the status a few times, there is nothing they will do to remedy this situation. I've emailed CEO Keith Weinberger and Director of Sales Rick Boysen regarding my complaint.

Empire scheduled the installation right away, and it was done pretty quick. The installers did the work from 8:00 in the morning till 6:00 in the evening. The flooring looks really nice. I was told that I can't use steamer on the flooring but then somebody else said I can. So I'm a little confused on that.

The only thing was that when I asked if they would help me move the aquarium, they said no. It's a large aquarium and I can't move it myself. I have a 150-gallon aquarium and had to take my fish, put them in a cooler the night before, and I ended up losing quite a large amount of fish. That was a little troubling for me because I had to empty it completely. I was fortunate enough that the guys did move it but it got a little complicated. Other than that, they did a great job. As a matter of fact, I'll be using Empire again when I do my kitchen and laundry room and my little nook area.

Then, all of a sudden, a little while later, I got an email. I always delete that crap, but it said Empire was doing the 50/50/50 and in my other house, I got flooring through Empire. So, I looked online and I saw good deals. I was pretty pleased with that. Things took a lot quicker than I anticipated. I had to come up with the five grand to give them upfront for the quarter down, and they were gonna start that week. I said, “Well, wait. I need to make sure I can come up with $15,000 right away.” I was the one that had them wait an additional week. Then, the install only took two days.

I really liked the feature that they have on the website where you can put any floor and check what it's gonna look like in your space. I couldn't do that with the flooring that I wanted though. I changed my mind so many times on what I wanted to put in here. That’s kinda what held it up, too, because I couldn't visualize it in my space. So, if I could have seen this flooring to begin with in my space, I would have been quicker in getting it done. Otherwise, I'll use them again.

I would not recommend Empire, not even to my worst enemy. After what seemed like a smooth consultation, we agreed to go with empire to install SVP flooring throughout our two bedroom one bath apartment. We were given an insider tip to buy our baseboards at a nearby warehouse and assured that the Empire Today installers would install it. Not only were we told the wrong amount needed (both my husband and I wrote it down and confirmed with the man doing our measurements) but on day of installation the installers were not told about the baseboards.

After clearing up the first miss communication about the labor, we were told on the second day that we would need 50 more ft of baseboard, so we went and bought more. The job was left incomplete. It has now been five days and I have not heard back about finishing the job. Over the past two days I have called and talked to multiple people to try and get this finished just to be transferred to the next person, I have left multiple messages and still have heard nothing about when the job will be finished. I did receive an email asking to pay my invoice. They want me to pay for an unfinished job.

At one point my husband was told to see if where we got the baseboards would finish the job for us. WTF! Not only is the job unfinished, but they left scratches all over the new product. The strip securing the floors and bathtub to avoid moisture seeping between the two is also lifting. Do not put yourself through the headache and frustration that comes with hiring this company. I wish it were possible to rate zero stars.

The first problem I had with Empire was when I ordered for them to come in for a free estimate, they never called me so I ended up missing my appointment. I had to reschedule it and that pissed me off. I told the people at Empire to call my phone and they said they did, but they didn’t. I asked them three times if they had my number and they kept saying yes. I gave them my phone number back to back. When I called back to make sure the appointment was coming through, the lady I talked to told me that they had the wrong number. I was moving to a new apartment and I wanted to get the carpet before I got my furniture. But I had to go the other way around.

The guy who came to me to do the free estimate was fine and so was the guy who did the carpeting. But when I did the carpeting for my bedroom, my floor wasn't level. I didn’t know that would make a difference. I closed the door in the bedroom in and out and it was not closing all the way with the rug. The installer was about to walk out the door and he wasn't gonna tell me what was wrong. That was horrible. If you're going to use Empire, stay on top of them. You can't make an appointment and think everything's gonna be okay because they make mistakes.

Eugene, the guy that did the install of our flooring from Empire, was fantastic. We had a laminate floor installed. We love it. I have found a couple of spots in it that the finish isn't right. There are really small spots where I can see a white do, but we're super happy with the floor. I couldn't talk better about it. It's durable, sounds good and feels good. The maintenance is easy, too. We ended up waiting an extra three weeks for our flooring because they ran out. When I called customer service about it, they said, “Oh, well, we pull the products as needed for the day of the job.” I'm a maintenance manager, so that makes no sense to me. If I buy and pay for a floor, you should have my stuff set off to the side for that date. We ended up waiting. I almost canceled the order and went somewhere else, but we're happy that we waited. The installer made up the difference.

Then I called Empire Today and a very nice young man came out and gave us the estimate. But when I went to make the appointment, it was not Empire Today. It was 10 days out. So, that was disappointing. That's kind of a misnomer, and it either has to be effectively done or taken out of their title. Because that's the expectation when you call it Empire Today. It delayed our open house by a whole week. But as far as the quality of the carpeting that we chose, the quality of the labor that came and installed was fine. The installer was very cautious. He covered the stairs, so they didn't get dirty.

Empire had what I wanted in stock and I had a two and a half week window between when I bought the house and when I was moving in, and they could get it done in the time frame I needed. The sales rep was very knowledgeable and he talked me through everything. It was very comfortable back and forth. He answered all my questions. There were two installation days. On day one, the installers called me when they got here. They got here before they sent out the warning, "Hey, your people will be there soon." So, they got here before I expected. Fortunately, I live right around the corner. So I jumped and I met them here. They held up what they brought and confirmed that it was what I wanted. I walked them through the rooms and made sure everything was good. We went over the paperwork and I did the final payment.

The installers did their thing and then called me at the end of the day. I swung by, viewed it in all of its glory. I signed the paperwork for day one and they left. They came back to finish a little bit of the trim stuff that they didn't have enough materials for on day one. Then, for the second round for the last outstanding bedroom, the guy came out, did the same thing, showed me the stuff, and I showed him where the bedroom was and what needed to be done. They took care of what needed to be done, had me come in and review it at the end, and it was all good. Empire definitely met my expectations. The floor is beautiful, and things got done quickly. There was open and honest communication. If I had questions, they were willing to answer.

They were nice enough to bring the carpeting, but the one which we had chosen was a higher quality and it was on sale. The one that was available is a good quality also as the sales guy said, but it was not on sale, so we ended up paying the same amount. My husband and I felt that it was a little inferior to the carpet we had chosen.

We are disappointed because it is not the quality that we wanted. We were not given a choice because we were called the day before our schedule saying that the carpet we had ordered is out of stock. After taking everything out either to junk or little to reuse it was suggested on one of those sites that make recommendations for pros. I called Empire and the sales rep came the next day with a start date in just a few days. Unfortunately that is where the service ended.

First, there were nails and dirt left everywhere in the driving area of the facility and the daycare room. It took me over three days to clean that room and any room connected to it. The trim around the new floor looks like I have paint porches to the kids and I told them to try and paint within the lines. The trim looks like a two year old try to put pieces together but could not line them up and paint is everywhere. The floor I was told would be levels, only pictures can truly show that it is a mess and the carpet on the stairs, the guy must have cut the carpet wrong and used it anyway as I have a huge cut n between the stair steps where it is suppose to be solid. To top it off they emptied the cement bucket on my new sod and down the water drain for excess water from my gutters! I would never suggest them or use again!

Updated on 10/21/2021: I wrote my original review job half done on Sept 20, 2021 where Empire responded quickly and a month later I have received no call from empire regarding my molding. I would never recommend this company anyone.

Original Review: I ordered flooring from Empire Today. The sales man was great. Took my order but told me I could purchase my own wall base and that they would install it to save some money. I thought that was a great idea so that that we were going to do but we got hit with my daughter needed surgery so I had no time to purchase on my own so I texted the salesman and asked how do I add wall base to my order 2 weeks before installation was to be completed. He the sales man answered after 2 day that he was away but would be able to add the wall base to my order.

Day of installation lo and behold no wall base the order was never put in. The men installing ran out of bull nose trim and had to come back. I spoke to my sales guy sent him pictures to show him there was no wall base. He said when they come to finish they will have the wall base. 2 weeks later they come back to finish the job but lo and behold still no wall base. I called the sales guy on the spot with being sent to a full voice mail every time. The men working at my house called their manger and I spoke to him and also sent him the message where the sales guy said will add wall base to my order.

Finally my sales guy calls me back and states there has been a confusion and that he doesn't know why my order did not go through. He assured me that he replaced the order and after sept 6 I will get a phone call to install my wall base. Well, its sept 20 today and I have called give me a reference number and tell me a manager will call back within 24 hours. NO MANAGER HAS CALLED YET. I HAVE 4 OF THESES REFERENCE NUMBERS so 4 times I have waited to get a call back and I get nothing. I also have tried to call and text my salesman since the week of sept 6 and no answer. So I spent $5000 and my rooms terrible because they look unfinished.

The whole process with Empire Today was pretty terrible. They're still not finished doing our vinyl planks. When we called to set up the appointment, they answered the phone right away. They were able to set up an appointment for later that week. They were here on time. When the gentleman came to talk about the product, he was very knowledgeable in what he was able to tell us. However, when we asked them for the quote on the flooring, he told us that he could verbally give us the information. But he was not able to leave anything with us for us to make a decision. We needed to make a decision right on the spot if we were going to purchase that day. And if we decided not, then we would have to have another person come out and do the interview all over again. The pricing he gave us was not valid for anything more than his visit.

That was the first issue that we had. We felt very pressured into purchasing it. There was no time to shop around or decide or even have much of a private conversation between my husband and myself. We ultimately decided that we would get the products from them because it was the price range that we were looking for, and he was here. We figured we might as well just move forward with it anyway. So, we did.

They scheduled the install for two and a half weeks after that visit, which was fine. When the installers were set to come, we got no information, no follow-up. The gentleman that was here told us that they would be here on the 13th of August. We didn't hear back from Empire Today until that morning at 8 AM. There was no reminder. There was no confirmation. There was nothing. We got no emails.

They texted us saying that our installer would be arriving that morning. When they got here, they did seem like they were doing a pretty good job. They had most of the lay-down done fairly quickly. But then one of the guys left, leaving only the other guy to finish the job. When they said that they were finished, there were parts of the trim that were not installed properly. There were parts of the trim that looked awful. There were parts that went underneath the vents in the house that were not completed.

Before they left, they did say that they would come back to finish one part of the trim that they didn't have enough material to finish. So, that was fine. They said that somebody would call me to schedule the rest of the install. A week and a half went by with no phone call. I called the company multiple times. They did not get back to me. I called them for 11 days straight. I finally got somebody on the phone and I told him everything that was going on.

They were under the impression that our order was closed, and it was not. I emailed them pictures of the issue. They said that they would send somebody back out. That guy got here. He did not have proper PPE. They literally wrapped their shirt around their face instead of having a proper mask to come into my house. The trim is still cut incorrectly where there's gaps around on the flooring, and they left without finishing the kitchen.

The kitchen needs to be ripped up and redone because there's divots. There's soft spots where when you step on it, you kind of sink down further. It's not a firm floor. That was something that we explained to the guy before he left here that day. He said that he would have to have somebody come back and look at it. So this has been a nightmare with them.

Empire Today installed carpet and put in the Scotchgard and several kinds of padding that they had for animals. Then we had an emergency so we had to leave. Unfortunately, on the day we had to leave, my sister knocked over a bucket that I was cleaning the bathroom with and it went onto the floor. I measured it 20 x 20. We cleaned it up and did everything we could possibly do. We then left for another three days for the emergency.

When we came back, it was Labor Day weekend, and of course, we couldn't get ahold of anyone. We did speak to one person that said to call the next day. Then I've talked to several managers and they said that they would give it to their team. However, no one called me back yet, and I have extended warranty on there. I also talked to my insurance, State Farm, and they said that it'd be better to go through Empire, because they just put the carpet in, and maybe they could come out and do a 20 x 20 piece and fix the situation.

Even though the installers were good, the staff and the help that we're getting is 0. They also made us pay extra money for a warranty. It would be so easy for them to come in and rectify the situation. They have all the pads, and we're not able to do any of that, because I can't go into the home. The carpet is sitting there collecting bugs and mold and mildew, and I'm disabled, so I can't be around that. We tried to call someone, but they said that they would not come for just a 20 x 20 small square leading out to the bedroom. Overall, we're very dissatisfied and we'll never use them again. All my friends know not to use them because they know that I'm not in my home because of this. It's very inconvenient.

The salesperson of Empire came out and showed me the different samples and let me choose from those. He explained everything and how the process would work and told me that they could do it in a day’s time after he measured and showed me. I narrowed it down for the first four colors. He explained everything at a price that’s worked. He told me Empire would finance and I could do that if I didn't have the money to pay for it and set up payments. So, I felt comfortable that they went over everything. I also like that they have a big variety of colors and styles that I can choose from that will match my canvas and decor that I had in the kitchen.

We have a refrigerator-freezer with a water thing. He explained we’d have to have that disconnected and they would move the refrigerator. They moved my dishwasher out. He went over all of that before I made my decision and I liked that, ‘cause I know what to expect. I chose the date and the time that I want it done according to my schedule. And that was really good ‘cause I had a chance to get things moved and get somebody in to do all of it. That was very professional.

The salesperson knew I wasn’t upfront before he made a decision. Then he told me, “If you change your mind, you have three days to change your mind and cancel.” If I ran into a problem, if something came up that I had to change the date or the time, I had a chance to call them. They would work with me and change it around. I like that. I have told other people about Empire, how professional they were. When they promise they can do it in a day, they come and they do it. They tell you everything that you have to move and do. So, when they come in, they can just get started.

Empire was a little more expensive, but it was worth the convenience. We’ve used them before as well, so we know that it's a good company, and we're satisfied previously. We recently repainted the kitchen, so I had specific colors in mind, and I told that to the sales rep. He went out, got his sample book, and we went right to it. We had some vinyl flooring installed in our kitchen. The installers took off the old flooring, which was here for about 40 years. There were a few doorways that it entailed, and my only complaint was that when they cut the saddles that connected to the other doorways, a lot of times, strips of the metal were left around. There was even a couple of pieces out in the grass. But otherwise, they did a great job. I like how it looks. If walking barefoot on it, one could tell that it's vinyl, but it really looks like tile. Many people come in and ask, “This is vinyl?” It worked out very well and I was very pleased with the product.

I made an appointment over one week ago for a sales tech to come out, measure and price a 700 sq. ft basement for all new flooring. The old flooring was ripped up after water damage and the remediation company recommended Empire. A sales rep gave me an appointment for Saturday, September 11 at 1pm. I rearranged my entire weekend to accommodate. I received 4 text confirmations and 3 phone confirmations. At around 9:30 am on said Saturday I receive a message that they cancel. No reason, just not coming. I called several times and was told the earliest I can get a call back was Monday as no managers work weekends. I spent hours trying to get someone. This company will waste your time and use bait and switch tactics to get your business. Very unfortunate.

I had the vinyl wood flooring in the living room, dining room, hallway, and master bedroom. We liked the package better. The thickness of the vinyl was a 12-mil, where others were 3 and 4 mils. So, we went with the thicker mil products. The installers came in and they moved things. They got the carpet out, sanded the floor in certain areas, and they started putting it down. They didn’t make a mess. And what they did, they cleaned up. They did a great job.

We just bought the house. It stunk to cigarette smoke. We couldn't do anything until we had the flooring done and the sales rep took advantage of that because he kept rushing me through my questions and not really answering them, just walking around in circles. He could have listened a little better. Then I knew the flooring I wanted and the color so I got the luxury vinyl. Four gentlemen came between 8:00 and 8:30 to do the installation. Only one spoke English and he was very readily available for all questions. All four of them worked like a well-oiled machine and they worked great together. I was happy with the care that they took. Ricardo was the lead tech and he left me a cell phone number in case there was something that I saw. The only thing that my husband and I saw was that they didn't nail down a corner of the trim for the flooring inside the closet, which was no big deal. People should give Empire a shot. I had a great experience with them.

I have always been the person to sort of roll my eyes at extravagant complaints, thinking there must have been some kind of miscommunication or over exaggeration. I was wrong. I was naïve to believe that established companies would blatantly lie or flat out refuse clear communication to their customers. We signed a contract with Empire for vinyl flooring. In our living room we had laminate flooring and a 9x12 carpet inlay. We specifically asked the sales rep how they would fix the difference in level and he assured us there would be no additional charges.

When the contractor came he said they would not be demoing anything and instead be gluing the new vinyl on top of the old floor and he would purchase plywood to fill in where the carpet was and this would cost an additional $500. Now, I’m not going to ramble on about this ongoing argument with them. Empire refuses to provide an itemized receipt for the additional charges we specifically told the contractor we would not sign for and a deduction for the demo they didn’t provide. The contractor himself said “yeah, a lot of people we see have issues like this with Empire”. The customer service harasses us weekly, each time a different associate and never receiving any kind of confirmation on the communication with the previous person. If you email them, they just call, even when I requested documented communication.

I beg you, support small business. With the current economy, unemployment, the best thing you can do for yourself and your community is to not use these big box corporations. The contractor hired by Empire, PHENOMENAL. Empire is rude, unprofessional and incompetent. From their sales reps to their management. It is very clear the entire company has piss-poor communication even within their own departments. I promise you will not gain anything from a company at this scale that you would not receive from your local provider.

Updated on 09/24/2021: As of today, September 24, 2021, the flooring installation still has not been completed. The initial installation started on August 26, 2021. On September 16, 2021, Empire Today customer service representative Charles ** emailed me confirming the needed materials to complete the installation were in stock at the warehouse and the next available day for installation would be September 23, 2021. I took-off work yesterday only to have the contractors not show up at my house to complete the installation.

I received a call from another Empire Today representative on September 23, 2021 at 9:44am stating that the needed materials were in fact not in the warehouse and the installation will not be completed. I would have appreciated the call before I took a day off from work. I am extremely disappointed with the service and lack of communication displayed on the behalf of Empire Today. Charles ** misled me to take a unnecessary day off from work when he emailed me stating the needed materials were in and that the installation would be completed. This process has been beyond disappointing, as of today no one from Empire Today can give me a definitive date of when the materials will be in the warehouse and when my installation will be completed.

Original Review: Empire Today has not completed the flooring installation as agreed upon and is unable to convey a definitive answer of when the installation will be completed. Empire Today is not responsive to my phone calls, voicemails or inquires of when the installation will be completed. On August 24, 2021, I met with Empire Today Sales Representative Shawn ** (**) at my home where I was presented several flooring options for my 3-floor townhouse (2100 square foot). I selected the engineered hardwood flooring (Cambridge Chestnut) to be installed in my basement, two hallways, three bedrooms, one bathroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, and two sets of staircases.

August 26, 2021, the contractors came to my home to complete the installation. Luis ** (**) was the lead contractor that I interacted with. On August 28, 2021, the contactors informed me that they needed to order additional materials to complete both sets of staircases and that those materials needed to be ordered and once the materials were ordered, they would come back and complete both sets of staircases and complete the trim for the flooring. The contractors could not indicate how long it would take for the materials to be ordered or were unable to inform me of when they were able to come back to complete the job and that I would need to contact Empire Today to find out when they could come back to complete the installation.

On August 30, 2021 I initially contacted Empire Today’s customer service (877-588-5217) and was unable to reach a representative. I then contacted Alvero (**), the contractors’ supervisor and left a message only for him not to return my phone call. During August 30, 2021 to September 8, 2021, I have called Alvero 3 times and he still has not returned my phone call. I have contacted Empire Today 26 times and no one has been able to give me a definitive answer of when the contractors are coming to my home to complete the job.

As of September 9, 2021, no one from Empire Today has been responsive to return my phone call with a definitive answer of when the installation will be completed. I have contacted the following individuals from Empire Today’s Baltimore regional office several times and no one has been responsive:
    Christopher ** (Market Place Manager) – 877-588-5217 extension **
    Shannon – 877-588-5217 extension **
    John ** – 877-588-5217 extension **

Ms. ** (Customer Service Representative) -877-588-5217 extension **

Empire Today has not tried to resolve this problem and I am looking for someone to contact me from Empire Today to give me a definitive date of when this installation will be completed.

I told the sales representative what I was looking for and he had the samples. The flooring that I liked was reasonable. Then the installation was interesting. I understood in the contract that the installer would move the furniture, which specifically said to move the furniture out of the room. It was part of the $200 price. The installer started working in the bedroom and my mattresses were there ‘cause I couldn’t pull them out. He decided that he was just going to move the furniture from one side of the room to the other. I figured he was gonna put a tarp because there was dust when he was pulling things up so I had to point that out.

He had started the job and pulling up and laying the floor. I told him that the dust was getting into my mattresses. He should take the mattress like I originally said and put it in the hallway or in the garage. Then he said no and he would just cover it up. His partner went out and got some plastic and they put it over the furniture and the mattress. But I thought that was unprofessional and I didn't expect that because I had other flooring done in my kitchen, in my living room, and I didn't have to worry about dust getting into my mattress. For some reason, I don't have to tell someone how to do their jobs. They should already know what to do. Other than that, I would recommend Empire to other people.

Everybody was courteous and did a good job, except for the first team. I had to park in the yard because there was a road repair. They couldn't park on the road. Had them install ceramic tile in my home, $18K. The installers were careless and at times confrontational, they had little interest in providing a quality product. Per sales rep, the installation would take less than a week; the project took well over three weeks, much of that time my bathrooms had no toilets. Had to hire a plumber to repair damages the installers caused in two bathrooms. Empire Today has offered to pay 50% of the $720 plumber's repair bill. This is after one of their managers agreed to cover all of the plumbing cost, as documented in an email I received from the manager.

It would seem that Empire Today has no issue with reneging on an agreement. The most recent issue is the installation of a transition strip between the newly installed tile floor and one bedroom that still has carpet. Because the sales rep failed to state in the sales contract that they were to provide a ($10) transition strip they used chalking to fill the 1/4 inch gap between the carpet and new tile floor. Ponder that for a moment, to save $10 on this $18K flooring job they used chalking on my carpet. This issue still remains unresolved.

The laminate went in real quick. They were supposed to do my carpet on 9/11, but I got a call from the guy and said my carpet was back ordered that it would be probably four weeks. So I changed the carpet colors. He called. They scheduled me for Tuesday. I took off work, I was sitting at home, and waiting for him. I sent my sales lady a text, "Hey, where are they at?" She said, "They should be there." All of sudden I got a call, "The guy's wife went into labor, so they're not coming." He said he would give me 150 off on it, but I haven't seen anything yet that it's been taken off.

We had to re-pick the floors. We had a few days with just cement. When my floors were all put in, they're beautiful.

The installers of Empire Today were very friendly and professional. Both groups that ended up coming into the house to work did a wonderful job. I’m very happy with the installers. But I have an issue that I called about, that I'm waiting for a callback. The floor feels fine in most areas, but then there are two spots, one in the small hallway area that leads into the master bedroom, and another one in the master bathroom, where when we walk across the floor, it feels like it's not in contact with the floor because it feels like the floor is gonna lift. It doesn't have a separation at all, it just feels disconnected. It's like you're walking on plastic. I don't know if there's anything they can do about it.

The sales representative from Empire Today was very knowledgeable, kind and seemed liked she wanted to try to get me the best for my buck. The installation was great. The guys were a little late because they got caught up doing something else but once they got started, they worked all the way through until it was done. They did a quick and professional job and it looked good. I like the look, the feel and color of the floors, which was kind of light brown.

I was very satisfied with the plank flooring but I had to cancel the other flooring I ordered because they played around with the order too long. There was supposed to be a vinyl part to that order. The sales person calculated the price with the vinyl plank and the actual vinyl for my kitchen and my restrooms. But when the guy from Empire came to install the plank, they had to wait on me to take my cashier’s check back to the bank. All they wanted was the amount for the plank. So I went back to the bank and I had the check rewritten. The vinyl people came back and they called me in advance this time. They told me when the vinyl was. One of the representatives said it would have been fine anyway because they were gonna deduct it from the cost of the check and do what they had to do with it. But these guys weren't experienced with that.

When the vinyl time came, the other guys had to reschedule my vinyl and they scheduled for August the 10th. I didn't know that until it wasn't even a whole day before the installation was supposed to happen. They called me on the evening of the 9th to tell me that they had to reschedule because they didn't have anybody in that area that put down vinyl. So, they rescheduled me for the 30th of August. Me, my wife and my kid pulled everything out of the kitchen to give them a little bit less work to do. They called me the day of the 30th and told me they didn’t have anybody to put down the vinyl and they didn’t give me any warning. Each time that they call, they didn’t apologize for the inconvenience. They just called to reschedule. It was poor business and I didn’t like the way it happened. I told them to cancel and I would find somebody else to do it, which was what I did.
