We got a new pet about a year ago and, our Electrolux with beater-bar could not pick up the long, fine hairs from our carpet or floors. Our daughter purchased a Dyson V-10 through the Shopping Channel and paid $599.00 a few weeks before... She also has a dog with long, fine hair and was so pleased with the new vacuum and recommended we place our order, which I did, before the sale was over. It arrived in three days by UPS as promised and I spent about half an hour assembling the unit.

What a surprise! What used to take me at least an hour to vacuum all the carpets and still had lots of hairs that could not be picked up so... I had to get on my knees and pick up the rest plus, our old vacuum was corded so, the furniture took a beating over time... NOT THE DYSON... Wow, finished the whole job in just over 15 minutes and, NO HAIR left to deal with. Plus, the see-through, clear dust catcher contained a lot of "fuzzy" stuff from the carpet as well. Easy to empty the chamber when done... A great buy plus, the time savings and NO CORD to deal with. One of the best buys in our 59 years of marriage. Wonderful product... Highly recommended to anyone tired of dealing with vacuuming without satisfaction.

Not sure about the upgrade yet. Ordered from Dyson. Got the order when they said but I miss some of the features of the V8. V8 is much easier to empty. V10 battery is better... thus far. Charges ok. The tube from the floor to the filter unit gets plugged too easily. Usually only German Shepherd hair and small grit. All in all, if you can find a V10 on sale for 1/2 price, would buy but would not pay full retail from anyone on this unit. Hope we don't have any issues with it as sounds like their website needs some lessons in customer service.

I placed my order on Ebay. The order completed processing before I was afforded an opportunity to change the delivery ship to address. Probably my fault. Nonetheless. I recognized the issue immediately and sent an email the vendor. The vendor did not reply to me until over 6 hours later saying they could not change the ship to address as a matter of security. I tried to cancel the order and was ignored by customer service. Six hours later I received the official notice that a UPS label had been generated. The next day I tried to change the shipping address through UPS but they said the vendor wouldn't allow it.

Long and short of it I had to refuse the order when it arrived. I then tried to order another one and have it shipped to the proper address. As it was a Christmas present for my mother and their site responded saying they refuse to take orders from me. This would have been the third Dyson product I would have purchased from them...two of which were gifts... Way to go Dyson... Your customer service is horrible. A repeat customer lost that is more than happy to share his experience with others.

I paid a bit more for a vacuum thinking about the quality. Well how disappointing. I couldn't even get the whole house vacuumed. The battery died... it got worse. After 6 months the battery was not even good for a minute. Mr Dyson after not being able to get my money back I purchased a similar product from Bosch. The battery lasts 20 min. on full load. You might buy one and have a look at how to build a vacuum.

4 calls in 4 weeks to get a problem with my Dyson upright (under warranty) sorted to no avail. My first part's order got canceled for no apparent reason. 3 weeks later a little foam rubber seal arrives instead of an internal hose. I called the US support office again and gave up after holding for 38 minutes, not sure why they say my call is important to them when they do not answer it. I emailed again and a weak apology followed with a promise of the right part being sent (again). The support service in the UK was far superior. Been a loyal brand supporter for almost 15 year now. Maybe it is time to switch brand loyalty?

I've ordered V10 Absolute cordless cleaner on Black Friday sales at Dyson Website. They provide two more free tools. One of them is tool bag and the other is Cyclone V10 Dok and saying I've saved 352.03$. But when it delivered first time V10 only. Their excuse was too heavy order through sale periods. And finally I've got two free tools but they sent mattress tools worth 29.00$ instead of V10 Dok a worth 149.99$. Now they saying my order was not included that V10 Dok.

Here's screen capture of my order from Dyson website and what I've received from them yesterday.

I had a Dyson DC21 Canister full kit for about the 4 years and I it had some minor problem that the warranty cover and repaired them in reasonable time, unexpectedly it stop working and I called customer service for repair service. They said that this machine is out of production so the spare part not available then they proposed the DC 41 Canister a refurbished for replacement. I received the new Vacuum cleaner that look same as my previous vacuum cleaner but with the less standard accessories (I should buy the missed accessories separately from Dyson), anyway it was not the bad side of this replacement. The new vacuum cleaner in the first use, stopped working each 5 min for around 1 min then restart again and this time reduces to the 3 min working time in the following sequence!!!

After this experience I packed the vacuum cleaner and called to customer service for resolve the problem by replacing the damaged appliance that they sent me. Incredibly they asked me to repair the new vacuum cleaner. They replaced my old vacuum cleaner with another damaged machine!! Customer service did not answer my request and always said we will call you but never called again. The guaranty of the machine will come to end and there is no responsibility for their error.

I believe they have other tools for refusing this kind of complaint. If you call with the registered telephone number to customer service, the average answering time is about 45 min but if you call them with non-registered phone number in their system, this waiting time reduced to around 10 to 15 min!! By this experience this is my last purchase of Dyson product, strongly not recommended!!

They told me to file a police report for a package that they show as "in transit" on their package tracking. What a horrible excuse for a company. My husband purchased the Dyson V7 Motorhead as a Christmas present in 2017. We had used a canister Electrolux for years in our multi-level 4 bedroom home and loved it. After moving into a townhouse condo with minimal electrical outlets, carrying the canister vacuum up and down three levels, searching for outlets, was less than enjoyable. The condo is roughly 1200 sq.ft and I have run out of power multiple times. We have vinyl flooring throughout except for the stairs. The suction is poor, leaving cat hairs behind. Not wanting to hurt my husband's feelings, I kept quiet for several months. Now seriously considering purchasing a new cordless vacuum. My daughter has a Shark and is very happy with it - she also has cats! After hearing commercials expounding on the excellence of Dyson cordless vacuums, I was very disappointed. For the price, the quality is lacking.

As a long-time owner of Dyson vacuum cleaners, we purchased our third one - Dyson Big Ball Animal vacuum cleaner approximately 6 months ago. The carpet roller brush is already worn out, leading me to call to Dyson for a replacement under warranty. The part is on back-order, and no time frame was provided. In the interim, there was no concern for how the vacuum is working and no effort to offer a temporary solution. The current carpet roller brush does not work effectively. Really substandard quality and poor customer service.

I purchased a Dyson V6 animal stick rechargeable about 3 years ago. Very poor for the price you pay. Will never buy another Dyson product. Got it with some air miles and sorry I didn’t buy something different. From the first day it overheated on turbo mode but it worked fine on normal mode, my fault for not returning but you have to ship it back in the box it came in. After a bit of use the part that goes into the canister to hold the stick came out. I was able to get it back in though. After a bit more use all the pieces that snap together came loose and kind of flop around, however it still worked. I then tried to find filters for it locally and good luck with that had to find them on Amazon.

Then after about 2 & 3/4 years it would not hold a charge, called Dyson and they said they would send me a new battery for free but I would have to be home to sign for it. I informed them I would be away for a few days and could they just order it and ship it a few days later, I was told no, I then come back home and called again to order, I was informed they were out of batteries but would have some in 2 to 3 weeks and I would have to call again to order. Good thing this is not our main vacuum. These vacuums are a very poor quality for the money spent, don’t suck that well either. Do research prior to buying a stick vac, there are some at half the price with good reviews. Dyson needs to figure out an easier way to get parts for their products.

So, I purchased a Dyson V7 Hepa cordless vacuum last night when the company was closed. After I made the online purchase, I realized I made a mistake and should have ordered the Dyson V7 Absolute due to the fact the I needed the soft brush attachment since all my floors are either tile or wood. I called the company at 8am when they opened to let them know that I would like to change my order to upgrade to the V7 Absolute and pay the remaining money owed. I was told that they can not do that. They need to process the order and ship it to me then I can return it and place an order for the vacuum I actually want.

Explain to me how this is good customer service... even better how this is good business practice to fully understand the product I ordered is still sitting in the warehouse and I want to buy a machine that is more expensive, why they would want to send it to me and have me send the product back and then reorder the correct one. After this fiasco, I will resend them the one that comes to me and I will never be purchasing another product from this company. It's very sad that a company with such a great product can have such and business practices and idiotic customer service reps.

Just called Customer Service for a hand held Dyson that is not charging, They told me the charger is faulty but because I'm 5 months outside warranty they would not send out a free replacement. This Dyson has only been used 15 times. We have Dyson hoovers x2 (for 2 homes). Bought my mum a hand held and we have x2 handhelds and just bought the full hair range of Dyson (which I will return now). Promised my mum a floor Dyson for Xmas but will explain to her why Dyson is not the way forward- unless she wants to sponsor their side revenue stream for additional replacements. Apple and other chargers don't do this. We have (like most homes) a range of high end electrical products- never had a charger go on the blink. Our charger and Dyson products in general are kept immaculately. There is no way the charger has been in any way mishandled and used maybe only 7 times in total.

Further this particular machine developed a fault within 4 months of its purchase- they had to send out a replacement battery shortly after it was purchased. THE PRODUCT IS CLEARLY DEFECTIVE and when I asked for the supervisor I was told- he will not come to the phone because he says you should just pay for a new charger. :) Tells everything. Will buy Miele which is German made and far superior as a product next time and this is the end of our relationship with Dyson. Looking forward to return my recent purchases.

I purchased the Dyson AM05 Hot+Cool Fan in 2016. I used it only a hand full of times during this time. Last week I used it to heat a room and it worked about a week and than would not turn on. I contacted Dyson only to learn the warranty expired a few months before and they no longer supported this model as they now have new models. I spent over 400.00 for a fan that only worked 2 years with minimal use and happened to break right after the warranty expired and cannot be repaired! So what they told me is this very expensive fan only lasts 2 years if you are lucky! The customer support told me sorry but we cannot help you. Please purchase a newer model.

This is totally unacceptable. Dyson does not stand behind their products after 2 years! I know of no other quality, expensive appliance that operates like this.

The public needs to be aware of what they are getting when they purchase a Dyson product! This company should not be selling high end very expensive merchandise that should last for years and years but actually breaks right after the short 2 year warranty expires. They should at least offer to examine the device to see if it is a defect! You would think they would want to know???

Nothing. I tried to cancel the order but they refuse to cancel. I have to return the vacuum when it is delivered. Then wait 8 weeks for my refund.

I have never experienced anything like this with any company I have ever dealt with. It is unbelievable. I got tired of waiting and bought a corded Shark Rocket Ultra Light for 1/3 of the price. It is amazing! 30 foot cord so that's not an issue. Works like a dream with no battery issues and the suction is top notch. Vacuumed carpet I thought was clean and ended up with a cup full of dirt and carpet fibers. Wow. I call and they say my order was "picked" and will see a shipping confirmation by Thursday... Saturday comes... nothing.

So I call and they say it will be between 11 and 16 business days to ship (not including weekends or holidays). I explained that I has spoken to 2 other reps and they told me completely different I formation blah blah blah. This person transferred me to a supervisor who told me oh... 7-10 days. Why? We bought a Dyson V8 last Dec, 2017. It worked for 5 times (20 mins each time) and then stopped. I phoned Dyson US to get a new battery in April 2018, we were definitely under warranty then, and we still are now. I was told a battery was being sent, and I received an invoice/receipt ($0.00) and a item number and told it would arrive in 3 weeks. I actually believed this. Hah! Nothing ever arrived. I have begun to call yet again to ask for this essential battery pack. I was on the phone for over an hour and a half yesterday only to learn Dyson does not sell the battery packs, it doesn't sell most of the repair parts for the machines they manufacture (and Amazon doesn't handle them either).

I learned that I have to take my machine to the 'nearest' UPS store and they will pack up my stick vacuum and send it to be fixed, to some unknown place. Then it will then be sent back to me. Really? Today I received a number to use with UPS, and I was told where I was to go to drop off my machine. The destination is more 2 hours drive from my home, meaning more than a 4 hour return drive just to take my vacuum to be dropped off at this UPS store that will send it 'some place' to get a new battery. First of all, I am not making a 4+ hour drive to drop off my machine. Second of all, who is going to guarantee that I will EVER get this back? Considering I've been working on this for 9 months without any success, I'd be out of my mind to consider this as a solution to the vacuum cleaner not working.

I will never buy another Dyson anything ever ever ever. The Better Business Bureau and Consumer Affairs should be reviewing this company, one which overcharges upwards of $800 per stick vacuum and then does not supply the repair parts. I would certainly write a letter to Dyson Head Office asking for consideration, but you cannot get in touch with these people. You can contact a call centre in Chicago, but nobody there knows what to do. Please, do not buy a Dyson product. They aren't just overpriced, they leave you with no recourse when the item does not work.

It's too late for me to return it -- no 90 day worry free warranty -- so basically I wasted almost to $400 on this piece of you-know-what. And wouldn't you know they just came out with updated technology that touts a longer battery life? This means the company obviously knew this was a major problem that needed to be fixed, but Dyson won't take responsibility to passing off the bad technology to consumers and then saying, "Tough luck, lady." While I was waiting for the fan to be collected (it takes min 3 working days) a new hairdryer got launched, so I requested they collect that also and I'd order the new one instead. Long story short my goods (dryer and Fan) got goods finally got collect 17th Oct, it is now 6th Nov and I'm still waiting on my refund from Dyson. They aftercare service is nothing like their sales service! In my opinion people should think twice about ordering Dyson products especially the 30-day trial service, it is not a good service. I've been on contact with Dyson a number of times about getting my refund and they keep telling me I'll get it in 5 working days!

I bought the Dyson Ball because the precise British accent dude who advertises it, had me convinced this was some kind of highly developed piece of sucking technology. The truth is, I was totally dumbfounded at the awkward, inconsistent, and inconvenient design of this thing upon actually using it. Here is my list: No cord clip at the top of the handle, cord simply trails and pulls. Cord trailing will invariable get wound within that stupid rotating ball thing on the left side. No solid handle to actually transport the machine. If you have to lift it, you have to lift it by the flexible, handle at the top. If you lift it by the canister handle where the center of gravity is, it may well disconnect leaving you with a vacuum cleaner slamming onto your foot.

The hose detaches for the hand tools in the a very counter intuitive way- there is a flip-top screen and the hose slides up with the back part of the handle serving as the hose. The stem is long and the hose bends in a very crimpy tight way causing loss of suction when you are using the hand tools. The combination crevice tool with attached sliding brush is profoundly stupid. Why would you have a crevice tool meant to go into narrow places surrounded by an attached brush which prevents that from happening in the up position. Very inconvenient and poorly designed. The tilt mechanism which flips the wheels down is a nightmare. You invariable have to pull it back more than once for it to stand up. When you lock it to stand and then wheel it somewhere, invariably it will come unlocked and slam to the floor.

Do not waste your time with this expensive, poorly designed, frustrating-to-use vacuum. This company has made their money. I can see no hope for their lasting any time at all in the industry with the product they are hyper-marketing. I also see from some of the other posts, that their customer service is pretty much aligned with the quality of the product. Go figure.

I own 3 Dyson products, and have always been happy with the brand until my 9 month old Dyson V8 cordless started having issues. We began noticing the suction wasn't as powerful (well maintained) and the battery started a quick death. We can get approximately 45 seconds of Max power before it dies. This is where my faith in Dyson has been lost. Awful customer service. We have been a full 2 months without a usable $800, 9 month old vacuum. Contacted Dyson, went through the troubleshooting to no avail. Dyson determined it was a battery issue and agreed to replace the battery, shipping notice within 24 hours.

A week later, no shipping notification. Contacted Dyson 2nd time, the item was at the warehouse, would be shipped. Again, 5 days, no notice. Contacted 3rd time - item is out of stock, don't know when it'll be in stock. Dyson offered to replace the unit with a V10 model. Ok - great! Makes this lengthy process a bit better to hear. We will get an upgrade. Excellent customer service, I thought. I wait another week for a shipping box to arrive (1-2 business days) as we have to return our unit to them to inspect, in which they will send the new V10 offered within 5-10 business days once inspection is complete. We disassemble our V8 in preparation. The box never shows.

Contacted Dyson again 4th time to inquire on the box. No response. A week later I get a notice of shipping from Dyson. Contacted Dyson about this 5th time... no response. Inquired about the replacement unit we had kindly been offered and agreed upon. No response. 3 days later the package arrived at my home. I have a doorbell camera which I answered while working, and requested the driver leave the package in a secure spot. Can't. Has to be signed for. So now I have to wait 2 days to go to the depot 20 minutes away and pick up the package. The package is small. It's not the box for return for the offered V10. I suspect it's a battery. Dyson will not respond to my inquiries. I am really disappointed that after 2 months of no vacuum, an offer for a new model in place of ours, now I have to track down a battery with no indication or explanation.

I bought a Dyson Animal Hair vac 10-12-17 from Costco as it was on sale for $100 off and I’d heard that it was a wonderful vac. In the past, we’ve always had Hoover vacs but Dyson vacs seem to be popular. All-in-all, wish I’d bought a Hoover! Issues: For months, the two piece handle pinched my hand; seemed to magically stop after about 9 months. Stairs are difficult to vacuum by hand; they were much easier using our old Hoover moving it stair to stair while in upright position. Often it needs several passes to pick up a piece of wool fuzzy. When putting the handle back to the upright, locked position it often clicks but falls back down when I let go; it needs to be solidly put back. The tiny little wheels leave marks in the carpet. A noise developed in the brush head after 7 or 8 months.

I delayed contacting Dyson because in the past, I’ve found that dealing with many customer service reps can be a prolonged, frustrating experience. Dyson was bad. After emailed them about the noisy brush head, they emailed back some instructions on how to remove and clean the head, which I did with no improvement. Then they had me again remove the head and clean hoses leading to it (why couldn’t they have had me do that the first time!). When that didn’t work, at their expense they wanted me to ship it back to them for repair for who knows how long.

I protested that we needed it to keep our house clean. Their response was to borrow one. After letting them know that wasn’t acceptable, they gave me the name of a local repair shop in Tacoma where we took it. The brush head was replaced and it works as before now. It was obvious it was the brush head from the beginning but the reps obviously don’t care or don't have any expertise on repairs (and probably responded to me with canned emails). I wish I’d bought a Hoover!

If you are a pet owner do not buy this vacuum!! I bought mine in February,18 and in October,18 it broke. The repair center voided my warranty saying I used it incorrectly because I was vacuuming every day due to a flea problem. That this vacuum wasn't designed for everyday use, they also went on to tell me how fragile the cyclone was and that I should have been cleaning before I vacuumed. What is the point of the vacuum then? If something is marketed as a pet vacuum how can it be so fragile? Pets are rough. They shed, create dirt, and spill things.

Dyson does not stand by their products and will say or do anything to get out of helping you. They are extremely unethical. A vacuum marketed for pets should be able to handle the dirt they bring in and the hair they create, and a little bit of flea powder should not void your warranty. Again what is the point of a vacuum designed for pets if it can not handle the mess pets create. It's a marketing scam to sell a piece of junk they will not back up for an insanely high price! Dyson was good and replaced the power head free of charge this first time, which was exactly what they should have done. 3 months later, the power head has failed again. I'm shocked at the quality of these units that have both failed with light usage. Even the suction power of these units is disappointing. I'm not going to pay to have another replacement unit. Dyson plastic is cheap low quality made in China plastic. Dyson handheld cost a TON of money - I bought it for the quality! I was a sucker. The handheld totally destroys the battery in MAX mode - 2-3 minutes - never the quoted 8 minutes. The charging cord and charging port are flimsy and now require various wiggling and finagling to get it to charge. Unit never holds a full charge. Never more than the 10 minutes out of the 30 quoted. Videos online also show how these are nearly impossible to disassemble and repair due to tons of one-way clips. Dyson doesn't stand by their products - they mock you on the phone for even trying to make anything a warranty issues. They are very, very rude on the phone. The replacement parts are laughably expensive. A $200 handheld vacuum is like $400 in replacement parts! These vacuums are cheap, made in China, low quality and Dyson doesn't stand by their products.

James Dyson is a greedy disgusting billionaire worth 5 billion selling faulty Chinese plastic vacuums. James Dyson hates his customers and only cares about money. Dyson's Airblade systems in the airports you see now have been proven to aerosolize germs, viruses and other pathogens. It is unsafe to dry with a Dyson Airblade, the old system of soap and water + paper towel was much more sanitary! Anyways I will never solicit this disgusting company or "man" James Dyson again. (We were told that the battery was the only issue so the canister did not need to be replaced in the first place.)

As a solution a new stick was mailed to us, but then our original brush didn’t attach to that stick. As a solution to this problem, I was told I would get a NEW machine mailed. Well, it was refurbished and it isn’t the same vacuum!! Our original vacuum brush measured 9&7/8 inches long by 4&3/4 inches wide. Our refurbished vacuum that we received is much smaller measuring 8&1/4 inches long by 4 inches wide. We went a month without our vacuum and yet to have the machine we were promised. If I had not released the hose as it was crimping my flesh, my arm would have severe damage causing broken skin and bleeding.

Anybody with a bleeding disorder or on blood thinners should avoid this type of vacuum as it can happen to anyone at any time while performing a routine task in the home. As it just happened today I will monitor it for signs of increased hematoma, swelling, inflammation and possible infection. For some reason Dyson seems to get away with claiming that they are superior to all other vacuum companies and people should be happy about paying a HUGE premium to own a "Dyson". But after owning two different units that have both failed for different reasons one within 3 years and the other within 6 months, I firmly believe they are all style and NO substance. Specifically referring to the V6 Cord Free Stick vacuum that I purchased 6 months ago. Dyson thinks it is completely acceptable for the rechargeable battery that came with the unit to die after six months and after spending $300 on this glorified dust buster, I should expect to go out and purchase a new $75-$90 battery for it.

Well, they finally said as a "courtesy" they would try to locate a new battery from one of their service centers and send it to me, but they aren't sure how long that will take, at least 7-10 business days if they can find one, possibly longer if they have to wait for it to come back into stock at their headquarters. How nice for me. So, in the meantime, while I cannot use this wonderful stick vacuum that was supposed to replace ALL other vacuums in the house, and it did, I have nothing to vacuum with.

And do you think they would be so kind as to extend the overall two-year warranty for the time I can't actually USE the vacuum while waiting for the battery? Of course not, because after all, the battery isn't covered under the warranty... In summary, Dyson is a company that does great advertising, but their sleek looking products are junk that they won't stand behind and they are full of excuses when they break. I verified there was a pending payment on my credit card so I waited. After 5 business days I still had not received a shipping email so I checked my credit card account only to find the charge had disappeared.

I sent an email to Dyson inquiring about my purchase. I was informed the order was processing so I replied asking for an approximate shipping date. Shortly after my response I received a shipping confirmation for the additional attachments I had selected. (When submitting the original order it was stated that the attachments would be shipped separately).

I started thinking since the V10 was new maybe the hold up was they were out of stock, however, I received an email response with the shipping policy attached stating the issue was they do not ship to an APO. We have an APO address because my husband works for the military and we live overseas which is considered a US address. Not all companies will ship to an APO even though it's considered a US address so when ordering online I verify this type of address is acceptable. I did verify their shipping policy yet missed where they don't ship to an APO and yes, that's my fault for missing it.

I made the initial mistake about the address... The problem is my address was accepted as ok for shipping and it took my inquiring about why it had not shipped more than 10 business days after purchase before being told they don't ship to an APO. Worse yet, I've got attachments on the way for a vacuum that can't be shipped here. Yes, I made the mistake missing the info about not shipping to an APO but from the beginning, I should have not been able to place the order. Other websites will flag the address so it's fair to expect I should have been flagged the moment my address was submitted. The confusing part is how the attachments were shipped.

So I purchased both an upright and the wand vacuum. The upright hose blew a hole in the first year, could not get anyone from Dyson to return a call, so it sat there. The wand stopped working and again good luck getting much help. Now a few years has gone by, forgot they were still there and I go to a Best Buy which had a Dyson rep who asked me if I had tried one. Well she got more than she bargained for but she gave me a card and told me there was a service center and they would take care of me.

I go there, they charge me $32.00 for a new hose, OK I will let that go but then they say the main body of the wand is shot and needs to be replaced for $134.00, half the price of a new one. When I stated what happened and how can they charge for a part that was obviously defective, they stated I can pay it or call Dyson, who also said I can pay it. DON'T BUY DYSON, they break down and they will charge almost the same amount as a new one to fix. I would rather buy a $100 vacuum every year for the next 8 years than go through this again!

Dyson contacted me the day after my initial issue with their customer service and offered to resolve the situation. They explained the upright vacuums are not ideal for some carpets and suggested two different canister models. I selected the Cinetic Big Ball. They provided shipping so I could return the upright and I received my new vacuum today. I assembled it in less than 5 minutes and it works perfectly on my new carpet, stone floors, and wood floors. I couldn't be happier with how the situation was resolved. At the end of the day everyone in customer service and sales was friendly and professional, except for 1 individual. All those good people offset the one bad apple in the bunch which is why I upped the rating to a 5 star. Any company can have a problem, its how they handle it that makes the difference.

    Original Review: May 14, 2018

I purchased this Dyson Ball Allergy Extra vacuum for its suction power and have had it for 6 months. It works very well on Berber carpets, wood and tile floors. However, last week I had a plush pile carpet installed in my living room, and was surprised that the vacuum cleaner could not even be pushed across the carpet. I called customer service and they instructed me to remove the gasket from the floor/head and that only made a slight difference. So now, I've reduced the performance of the vacuum cleaner, and still do not have a vacuum that works on this carpet. Most other vacuums have the ability to adjust the sweeper to the height of the carpeting, but this does not have that feature.

I've had other vacuums in my 30 years as a homeowner and all other brands worked well on carpet, regardless of the pile height, wood or tile floors. I am now stuck with a substandard, overpriced product with an inadequate warranty and no real customer support. I'm very disappointed in this product and would not recommend it. Other vacuums at lower prices have better features that get the job done. Do not buy into the product hype.

I'm here to say the Dyson "Ball" has some incredible planned obsolescence built into its design (at least the DC 15 model). There is for some reason a VERY fine wire in the wiring "yoke" that breaks and the brush quits going. It can be repaired if you have a curious and pilfering mind like myself, but it is a tedious pain. I will also say that my DC 15's "Ball" is faulty and stiff rolling, and in fact is locked-up when pulling backwards. These maladies occurred after unit was 8 years old, so I'm stuck with it. This machine to be sure sucks well, and I'll never again have anything other than a transparent dirt canister. But the price of the Dyson is far too high when you can get other brand "Cyclone" models at far lesser a price. Believe me I remember the old days of smelling dirt during and after vacuuming with the old technology, and rest assured Dyson is no better that the other brands at solving that.

I purchased this vacuum cleaner online and it lasted less than one week. The assembly instructions, as usual, are unnecessarily complicated and difficult to follow, something that is universal in today’s instruction manuals. When it was finally assembled, I vacuumed the living room and hallway and then attempted to clean out the canister. The canister comes off, but there is no way of cleaning the dust, dirt, and soot out of it other than to reach in with a knife or some other slim article and scraping it out by hand. I did this twice.

After the second time, I re-attached the canister, but the cleaner no longer worked at full strength. All I was able to get it to do was to turn it on and use about ten percent of the suction strength. It didn’t even suck up the dirt, it merely re-distributed it nearby. Of course, the instruction manual says nothing at all about what the problem could be. This company is a complete joke. If you pay three hundred dollars for a vacuum cleaner, it is reasonable to expect it to last longer than a week. And, there should be a way to clean out the canister.

I loved my Dyson V6 for three years. My warranty expired in 2017 and my Dyson had the dreaded flashing red light in March 2018 which basically means you need a new battery, yours is dead. The Dyson rep explained that this happens very often. I asked what I did to cause this and she said it just happens with use and that it was no fault of my own and followed that with, "Since you're out of warranty you can buy a new one for 85$ and it might be more cost effective to buy a whole new vacuum." To which I asked if there were any models that didn't have this problem and she basically said no. She only recommended the 600$ V10.

What good does a product do you when you spend a whole paycheck or two and then it only lasts for a few years. Also, let me not forget to tell you my mother had a Dyson before I did and I thought she just got a lemon because hers died after three years as well and she had to purchase another... this smells fishy to me and I believe this is a scam. Set up to fail.

It picks up so much dirt and hair and the attachments work wonders reaching the hard to reach areas in a home, like between the washer and dryer, beneath the bed and the curtains. I recommend the stand-up Dyson vacuum to everyone and although I'd love a new Dyson and want to upgrade, I can't see spending the money when my old one still works SO well. Replaced battery, with new one, battery, same problem, after further inspection, and having paid and received the new battery, I realized the battery was coming loose. Turns out it was not the battery, but the two very small screws that hold the battery into the body of the machine. I called again, now they want me to send in the body of the Dyson. $75 to check the body of the machine out, should I require a new plastic body replacement, Dyson wants 250.00. Save your money Folks and go out and buy another brand, Good little machine but not Reliable. The new battery continues to fall out of the body, the two little screws that they sent with the new battery do not hold the battery to the body either.

Prior to receiving the new battery I bought the Animal handheld. $400.00, I used it twice, the battery stopped charging, called in, they instructed me to take the body apart, clean and brush out any lint in the connections, I did exactly that with the young lady on the line. Wala, that made it work again. Then I started to think to myself, a small piece of lint will deter the connection from the Dyson V8 Animal from working? Well Folks, hopefully all of you will have better luck. I am packaging it up to send that back, No more Dyson for me.

The final straw, today I pulled the vacuum off the charger to attempt to clean cobwebs and dust off my living room and bedroom curtains. The vacuum’s exhaust hits me right in the face when attempting to reach above my head. All the dust it supposedly sucked in was blown right back at me! Now take the unit tap it/shake it over the sink or toilet and prepare to be amazed and disgusted. Dyson cautions against using water or liquid cleaners (disinfectants). If you can't use water or a liquid cleaner you are leaving a hotbed of dust, dust mites, mold, allergens, and bacteria.

If you chose to take this unit apart you'll need special tools and a lot of patience.
