I ordered the Dyson V11 cordless vacuum cleaner on Black Friday 2019. Instead of going with Amazon, I was swayed by Dyson’s offer to include a free set of attachments and the fact that they advertised their price match. Fast forward, my order was duplicated due to a glitch on their website. I called to cancel the duplicate order, which I was told was not possible even though the vacuum had not been shipped yet. So I waited until it arrived and brought it right back to UPS to ship back to Dyson.
Fast forward another month and a half since my return was received by Dyson, however I have yet to get my refund. I also entered a price match with my original order and then again when I called their customer service. I keep being told that the price match was entered on the day of my original order and yet I don’t see any refunds whatsoever. I have finally opened a case through PayPal and hopefully that will get me my refund. I never expected such shoddy customer service from a company that makes such good products! This is my second vacuum and I would buy another one but never again through Dyson directly. What a pain!

I want everyone to know the horrible and agonizing experience that I recently had with The Dyson co. I had had many dyson products over the years at a much higher cost than all their competitors and I was satisfied until I purchase a dyson stick wireless vacuum for over two hundred dollars. The battery stopped working 3 mths after purchase and of course it was under warranty. They sent me a replacement battery for free. The customer service attendant kept saying, "If you have trouble replacing the battery call us." So I got out my 4 different Phillips head screwdrivers and not one was small enough to fit the tiny screen that hold the battery in. I called and they said, We dont have a screwdriver to send you and that I should buy a #1 or #2 Phillips and that should work."
Sooo I went and got a #1 screwdriver and again to try to fit the screw. Sooo I called again and they said many people have had the same problem. Sooo again I went back to the hardware store and had to by a zero size which after 15 min I finally got the screws loose. They were unexpectedly inept at helping me at all. BE AWARE THAT THEY WON'T HELP YOU EITHER. I had to write this as I was so angry at the way they handled my problem while letting me know that I was just one of many with this problem. I never expected that Dyson would know that no one will ever have the size screwdriver that would fit their mini screw and wouldn't have an inexpensive screwdriver to help all the customers who's batteries fail (thousands). Buyer Beware!!!!

Date: 1/16/2020. I have 2 Dyson V7 (Animal bought October 2018 and Motorhead bought March 2019), the Animal was through Dyson phone service- it works beautifully even with my 5' long hair (my hair is almost touching the floor) and a blue heeler that sheds like crazy. I went ahead and bought a Motorhead soon after when it was on sale at Bed Bath and Beyond ($216.49), bad decision!
The motorhead quick release (floor cleaning attachment) inside broke and battery also stopped charging by October/November 2019, that is 7-8 months after purchase! Dyson was willing to send me a replacement battery (ordered today, have not receive yet) but stated that the attachment is not under warranty and will cost $216 to replace, yes, that's the same cost as re buying another brand new V7, what's even more ridiculous is Dyson website only charging the exact same part for $63.99. No, thank you. I've received a fluke and in the future I will take my business elsewhere. Btw I was on the verge of buying a Dyson air purifier, guess not.

Don't order from Dyson. Placed an order on their site and Dec. 3rd and they charged me Dec. 5th. Never received the vacuum and they made me file a police return and file claim with UPS in which I did. I requested a refund at that point since they don't require signature and it would potentially get stolen again if it's just left at the door all day while I'm at work. Rather than refunding, they send out a replacement vacuum. They have the worst customer service. It's now Jan 13th and I still have not received a refund.

I've actually had two bad experiences from Dyson. This first was ordering a vacuum from them. It said it would arrive by the following Tuesday. After a few days for processing, I got a tracking number. It gave me that Tuesday delivery date but the status was "label created". They had not given it to UPS yet. Long story short, I received 1 ½ weeks after the promised delivery date. They had run out and were now shipping from across the country with GROUND shipping. Was never contacted to let me know of different delivery dates or anything. There is no way to check your order status unless you call, and when I did, I kept getting different answers.
The second experience is with the Dyson Pure Hot and Cool. I also ordered directly from them. I decided that it didn't perform well so I arranged a return. On their website, it brags how easy it is to return products. It absolutely is not easy. I filled out the return form online. I received a reply saying that the return process had changed to texting. Wanted me to let them know my mobile #, which I did and never got a reply or a text. I filled out the form again. This time I received a text with not much info. It said they would send shipping instructions, etc. I had received 2 boxes because it came with a free filter replacement. I received one email with a tracking number that didn't say whether it was for the machine or for the filter. The weight on the label was 12 pounds and both boxes are more than 12 lbs.
I finally called to find out which label I had received and why hadn't I received 2 labels. The rep on the phone had to put me on hold for a while and then came back and told me the label I received was for both boxes. I had never heard of that before. She said print 2 labels and put one on each box. While I was on hold I decided to search Dyson customer service reviews. I wish I had done that before I ordered directly from them. They had one star. Lots of reviews said the same thing I'm complaining about plus they all seemed to state that they hadn't gotten their refunds for returns way after they should have. I'm even considering keeping the fan rather than put myself through the stress of trying to return it.
It seems that Dyson has very shoddy customer service. It seems the reps are just guessing at their answers to my questions. Just telling me what I want to hear, but different answers each time. Their website makes flowery claims of great customer service. They are only words. They are not backed up by actual service of any kind. They are a large company but it seems like a small unorganized company. Now I'm angry at them and won't purchase from them ever again. Not even in a store. Their products are crazy expensive. One would think that good customer service would come with that price.

Nothing but Dyson for us! We have the DC41 Animal. Recently a part on the roller broke. I first googled replacement parts, searched Amazon, Ebay and other sites. I ended up calling Dyson Customer Services. I explained the issue and they quickly found the part I was needing and said my vacuum was still under warranty. They shipped out a replacement part and kept me posted on the status via email. First and foremost, I appreciate their exceptional customer service.

We purchased this item way before Christmas and apparently they sent it which was stuck in Ontario Ca. I reached out after 2 weeks w/o any progress. Back on Dec 23rd. Fran with Dyson reached out and apologized we didn't get the product we purchased and asked me to file a POLICE REPORT!! When clearly it was never delivered! I wasted my time filing an report only to hear back from SFPD that since it was never delivered, Dyson/Ontario needs to file it.
Emailed them back advising them I can't file an report when it was never delivered! I then get an response on 12/24/2019 from customer service that new order has been placed and they will send another one. Today is 1/6/2020 with still not shipment info and tracking info! Is this how Dyson run their business?!! Take clients' money as a loan?! I am fed up and rather now own DYSON product at this point and cancel my order and want my refund! This was suppose to be a Christmas gift which never happened. Horrible service!!

I have purchased online a V7 vacuum and it said will ship via 2 day shipping. But I found this is a bogus claim. The UPS tracking # show it did not get shipped even on 3rd day. (I ordered on 12/30/19 and I have to call on 1/2/20 on customer service to find out they did not even pass to UPS yet). This caused me need to reroute the shipping address since I have left the original location. The only response of all these is a "sorry for inconvenience (first no one keep track of the status for 3 days, then no one care to expedite even after they found out). I did not receive the unit yet but only can hope is an intact brand new unit... I think they have serious internal issue within company.

The Dyson vacuum works very well on carpet. However within a year the rollerball (between stick and head) starts to wear. It then leaves dreadful scuff marks if using it on wooden floors. You could keep replacing the head but you’d be doing it yearly - at great expense. I raised this with Dyson but they weren’t interested. If you have wooden floors then don’t buy a Dyson. I have found other people have commented on this problem. I won’t be buying another one.

Dyson corded and cordless. I have owned 3 Dysons In 5 years. The products are way overpriced for what you get. I had the dyson ball animal. It broke in half 3 days after my warranty ended. They gave me 30 percent off a new one. I purchased the newer version of it. 2 months after the warranty was out the motor went. I should have learned. I read the reviews on the cordless. I purchased one for our Florida condo. 2 years 2 months. So 2 months after the warranty ended the battery went. I find dyson gets top dollar way overpriced. Will not purchase another dyson product. Sad I am 60 and still using a Electrolux for my autos that my grandparents owned. If you want a 2 year vacuum buy a dyson.

Where do I purchase a Dyson online and it was the wrong one so I called to change the order. They would not let me change the order. I had to buy that vacuum. Let it come to my house and return it and buy another one so I do that. I send the vacuum back that I'm supposed to send back and by the way I still haven't been refunded. I was supposed to receive another vacuum. Unknowingly to me it was returned and I got an email is how I found out. Oh, I'm so. I called Dyson to ask about it and they tell me, "Where the one hasn't been refunded but we're not going to send any back until you pay for another one." Now mind you if I pay for another vacuum dollar bill over $1,700. As it is the little bit of money I did have I spent on a vacuum and now the little bit of money that I had for presents for the kids is tied up in another vacuum that I haven't gotten back.
So moral of the story is there's still money going out of my account which they're still going to refund but I end up with no vacuum and it cost me all this time and patience and I'm not somebody that has money. I've been saving for a very long time to get this V11 and I really wanted to get myself. For Christmas but now is all the problems. I have to use the money I have on the kids because the other money still tied up so I walked worked all year for nothing because I'm going to end up with nothing for Christmas.

Spent almost $300 for a battery powered vacuum that has either no suction or no battery. Literally every time I use it the battery either dies in less than 5 minutes or it doesn't pick anything up. We have cleaned it, charged it, everything it suggests. I paid for the warranty and guess what, when you call the people are rude and hang up on you. Was a waste of money. Super frustrated I spent so much for something that lasted only a few months. Certainly not worth the money or the headache.

Very disappointed in the Dyson (Purple) Animal Vacuum. It worked great for the first year, but not worth the price or the hype for picking up animal hair. I have a Golden Retriever. I have more hair wrapped around the roller than in the canister. I must use scissors to cut the hair off the roller, at minimal, once a month. After a couple of years, the suction just doesn't do the job anymore. I have always prided myself on how I take care of my "stuff". I would wipe down the vacuum cleaner every time I was done using it as well as maintaining the filters. This vacuum is going in the garbage and I am replacing it with the animal vacuum made by SHARK for less money.

I have had the Dyson Animal for several years. I noticed it had idiosyncrasies, but not until I started using it as my sole vacuum did I start to really recognize how subpar it is. The main complaint I have is the lack of suction. On the first pass, even simple household dust and particles are left behind. After several more passes, some are picked up, but not larger particles like leaves or dry pet food kernels, which I must pick up in a dust pan!!
The second part of the no-suction complaint comes when I am trying to vacuum up dust bunnies. The machine blows them forward away from the machine!! I have to sweep them together (often having to first haul them out from under the furniture where they were blown) and then, when rounded up, use the hose end of the machine to suck them up. When you put this situation together with the fact that this model is very heavy, all the effort it takes to just vacuum a tile floor is just not acceptable. I am definitely not going to buy another Dyson, but I am on the hunt for a vacuum that actually pulls in instead of pushes away the dirt. Too very bad, as it was an expensive investment.

Dyson used to be great. I raved about my old Dyson Animal cordless which was a V6. After using it daily for years on my hard floors picking up animal hair and using the attachments on my couch and bedding it finally died and I was going to have it repaired, but then I saw the Dyson Animal V8 for a really reasonable price at Costco and thought wow, it's more powerful. I'll just upgrade. The old one had a very good run. I couldn't be more sad at the change in suction (I still don't understand how a V6 picked up better than a V8), louder noise, shorter run time and overall cheaper feel.
After using it a couple times I went online to see what's going on and I saw they changed manufacturing countries and now are a mass produced product made cheaply and my deal at Costco was a result of lower standards and it shows. I ate my mistake and continued using this Dyson and now less than a year later instead of it vacuuming half of my house with a full charge, it only vacuums our office area and kitchen before dying and I have to rush to make it last that long. This vacuum is useless. I'd need to buy 5 in order to vacuum my whole house and I don't have a large house. The Miele is much more expensive but I believe you get what you pay for and having to throw this Dyson out after less than a year is more expensive in the long run so Dyson is out. Miele is next.

My Dyson Big Ball Cinetic upright vacuum recently broke down. The part which broke was the red colored clip on the Cyclone which attaches the Cyclone to the handle/frame of the vacuum. I looked online and tried to find a replacement part using various sites like Google and Amazon. I could not find an equivalent part. I reached out to Dyson customer service via chat on their website and explained the problem. After spending some time I was told that a replacement part would be shipped.
In a few days I was pleasantly surprised when I received the part. I expected to just receive the red plastic clip, but in actuality they sent me the entire Cyclone unit. This was sent to me at zero dollars expense which costs about 85$ online!!!! The experience was also not grueling like other vendors who make you go through hoops proving out purchase details, warranty terms and the whole nine yards. Never experienced such service in my 22 years in the USA. Outstanding service! Definitely will recommend them and kudos to your team.

We have unfortunately experienced three separate issues with the products and in each situation, we have been treated absolutely tremendous from the customer support team. We had a powerhead issue that occurred,(which is not under our warranty) and through the description of the issue Dyson decided it was better to replace at no charge instead of charging a discounted price for the replacement. Like many products today, this Dyson DC 23 did not last as long as it should have. It lasted beyond the 5 year warranty but not near as long as my old Kenmore canister vacuum with bag lasted. You pay so much for the looks, but not the longevity. I tried to have it repaired by Dyson. Support told me they do not make parts for it so offered me a 20% discount instead, but only on non sales items. I'm sorry, but the product that would have been comparable was already on sale so basically I'm treated like anyone else. What happened to customer loyalty? Easy, it is not worth it! Not my fault they stopped making parts, but I'm being punished for it. I will go back to Kenmore.

PROS: an extremely good vacuum, very easy to manipulate, very easy to clean, many attachments. NEG: Very heavy, attachments are almost impossible to use. The attachments are connected to an accordion type hose which is enclosed in the handle. It is very stiff to extend and when you hook an attachment to it it contracts to its original length and stiffness. The shortened length allows only about 6 - 8" of use. I am a big man and even I find it very cumbersome and extremely difficult to have it remain in its upright position.

We bought our cordless vacuum cleaner through PayPal a few years ago. About a year ago it started to break and lose power. Now it definitely doesn’t have enough power as it barely picks anything other than dust. I contacted the company and we went back and forth for weeks, we did all the troubleshooting and in the end they offered me a 20% discount towards a new one. It’s a very expensive product and it should have lasted longer then just a couple of years. I think the company was bought over and lost the quality but kept the high price. I have the original upright machine and it works great 10 years later.

I received no help whatsoever. I tried fixing it on my own by ordering a charger, which when I received it turned out not to be the issue. I thought no problem, I'll just return it for a refund.
Well, to make a long story short, that was in May of 2019, it is now September and I have STILL not received my refund. I have corresponded with them countless times via email and they keep telling me, "You will receive it the next billing cycle." I got so frustrated with the email customer service, that I contacted them on Facebook. Still no refund. We love our Dyson. We have had our smaller upright for around 5 or 6 years. It is lightweight, you can see all what has been picked up, very easy to empty out and get cleaning again. You need to empty it more, for it is a smaller vacuum of theirs, so it doesn't have a bag. It has a front basket to empty. We just empty it out more often, so not big deal. It does an awesome job on carpet, ceramic, tile and stone flooring. Whenever I decide I need a new vacuum, I will pick another Dyson. You cannot go wrong with that brand.

I have a V6 and had no problems selling it second hand. Dyson has a no-hassle warranty. I have had to contact them twice now. They resolved the issue and sent out the replacement part at no cost to me. The second call, the vacuum was just past its two-year warranty and Dyson still looked after me and sent a replacement part at no cost. It is too bad, since we accepted Dyson's sales pitch & it worked for about 1 1/2 years. When it was operational it was good. We are trying to give it away w/o any success. We have bought a Bissell battery powered unit & are very pleased. The Bissell is a fraction of the cost of our Dyson. We have learned a valuable lesson in that our trust in advertising has plummeted. I had this vacuum for two years when it finally quit on me. I called Dyson who said that It was apparently the motor, but that’s not the only problem when you think of it overall. In order to clean this machine it takes approximately half an hour just to get it apart and clean it. Then you have to let all the parts dry, preferably overnight, and put it back together again the next day! You need a college degree to figure it out. Each time I cleaned it, Which they say you should do once a month, I had to watch a YouTube video. It is the worst in that aspect, and I would never buy another one again. In fact, one that I did purchase was a smaller model (didn't know it at the time) and that one, unfortunately, was not a good investment, as the canister filled up much quick than the full size models and I ended up getting a different vacuum. Other than the smaller versions, Dyson Rocks!

My mom gave me her Dyson ball vacuum after my Shark finally bit the dust. I was thinking, great, this is a wonderful vacuum brand, it should be the best right? This thing complained and shut down until I had to tenderly clean it after running it for fifteen minutes. I don’t mean just emptying the bin - I mean disassembling it, furiously pushing out all the dust it refused to pick up then reattempt to vacuum the pile it had freshly made. Taking it apart is akin to blindly building a dresser from Ikea and putting it back together is just like “well I hope it’s all in there right.”
Mind you, my husband and I have a small, SMALL one bedroom apartment and three cats. One is long hair and sheds like it's her personal mission in life to redecorate our rug with shag. Now this is the ANIMAL model, mean to vacuum up animal hair. All it did was throw a fit whenever it actually had to do what it was advertised to do. My shark would suck up about anything I ran over (including a large cat toy) without any complaints made - convincing this Dyson is just a diva. An apartment that should take about fifteen minutes to clean became a two hour endeavor of wrestling with this vacuum, sweeping my carpet like a medieval peasant and sitting weeping uncontrollably (though having a good cry now and then has been relieving - wish it wasn’t over a damn vacuum though).
I am also grossly allergic to cat hair and dander (don’t ask why I have three cats). So naturally emptying the canister required me to basically smock up like I was entering a radioactive war zone, sniffling and coughing my way along, taking well needed breaks to puff on my inhaler or pop more allergy medicine. And remember I said I would have to completely take this beast apart - allergy city.
This vacuum was literally the bane of my existence. The enemy in the corner of my room, lurking like a monster, terrified that it would grab my feet in my sleep and puff dust at me. People act like Dysons change their lives - come into their home, do their laundry, make dinner, bathe the kids, tenderly strike their hair as they fall asleep. In reality they’re the demons of the cleaning world, masquerading as a helpful albeit overpriced piece of machinery. 10/10 will never buy again.

It is heavy taking it up and down the stairs, but they're also EXPENSIVE machines, and I sure won't be buying a second one. I had to return the vacuum to Dyson in 2017 and have the motor replaced. Now it's less than two years later, and the motor just went out again this morning. I wrote to Dyson about how to get a repair or a replacement, and haven't heard back yet.
I think having to ship a vacuum back, wait a week or two, and having to replace a motor TWICE in less than 5 years is ridiculous! These products are not well-made or durable. Way too expensive to have this many problems with it. When you put them together, and clean, etc. they feel like the whole thing is made of cheap, flimsy plastic, and that's exactly how they hold hold up - like cheap, plastic crap. Very disappoint and will NOT buy another one. The last time, they were good with service, but again - shouldn't have to pack it up, send it back and wait to have the motor replaced every two years. I have the Dyson Animal Ball vacuum. It has amazing suction power. It seemed to do a pretty deep clean too. It works great on dust webs. The maneuverability is incredible. It takes a bit to get used to the ball. The hose is super long and when pulling on the hose, it seems near impossible to tip over, it just follows you from any direction. It’s rather loud but it’s an amazing vacuum. I would definitely recommend this vacuum.

It has not lost power, however the battery might be draining out quicker with each charge. Also, the grip can use a bit of updating as it creates a cramp on the hand because it is not light.

I have 3 Dyson Vacuums, I loved the way they worked and were very powerful. However now that I have owned them for a few years 2 of my Vacs were the V6 (do not recommend this one at all, hard to clean and empty reservoir) - the big issue. The batteries die all of a sudden with no warning then you have no vacuum. You have to go to a service center and they need to inspect it. This is a total waste of time and money.
Finally they sell you a battery for $100. One vac V7 died within a few weeks. Then I had to wait 2 weeks for a new battery and in the meantime I had two Dyson vacs at home and neither worked. They do offer you an upgrade for a price that is more than other retailers sell it for. They say, "Do not buy from the retailers because you do not know the legacy of the vacuum." Are you kidding me? I am hearing a lot of good things about the LG Vacuum. It has 2 batteries and are easily interchangeable. Dyson will learn that you have to support your original customers - or they will fade away....

I got the V7 for Christmas and it stopped working about a month and a half later. I called customer service and waited about 30 minutes before was able to speak with a rep. I called back with another long wait before another rep had me troubleshoot and then determined it was the battery. However they didn't have any in stock. So they would email me when they were available and I would need to call them back again to have it ordered. 2 weeks go by with no email. I call again today and they are in stock and couldn't explain why I didn't get notified. Now there is a battery on the way and I'm hoping it does the trick but I am still disappointed with this customer service and purchase. :(

I'm not thrilled to gain attention on a review for a problem with Dyson as a company by giving their V11 Animal Stick only three stars. The vacuum exceeded my expectations. Having said, it crapped out in less than two weeks. Even though the machine was faulty, I feel ** happens, and they would replace it with a brand new vacuum.
I set up a return with CS who sent me a prepaid label. The process is once they receive the faulty merchandise, they will send out a new unit. Not agreeing to replace the vacuum immediately is what I find unacceptable. After laying out over $600 and the machine crapped out in less than two weeks, I expected them to overnight a new one. I can and do understand they needed to make sure the defective unit was indeed on its way before sending a new one.
After dropping off the broken one at UPS, I contacted Dyson and gave them the return tracking number, and asked them to please overnight a new V11 Animal Stick. I explained I have six cats, live off a dirt road, and have been rehabbing my house. The V11 made such a difference in the amount of hair it picked up I could walk through the house with black socks on, and they hardly had any hair sticking to them. The CSR told me she understood and I should check my email for a notification that the replacement was in transit. Three days later and now it's a weekend they have not sent an email with a tracking number for the new vacuum.
I ordered directly from Dyson because I read many people had issues with batteries when they ordered from second and third-party sellers, who by the way ship overnight, due to incorrect storage in their warehouses. Climate control is a critical factor as it impacts the battery. I could have gotten better CS, and an immediate replacement had I ordered from Amazon.
Bottom line: The V11 is worth the $600 plus dollars. It does perform like a five-star vacuum. The V11 is easy to clean, and anyone with pets, allergies, or wants to keep a clean house should not be fearful of investing. However, order from Amazon if you wish to have outstanding CS to go with the performance. Dyson will not give it to you.

Remember when Dyson advertised its vacuums as the only vacuums that won’t lose suction? Dyson is careful about saying that now. That’s because Dyson cyclones get dirt built up on them internally over time. As that happens, air flow declines and the machine loses effectiveness. I would like to complain to make myself feel better, and I will below, but the message that’s important to you is that Dyson vacuums require expensive maintenance, and you should factor that cost into your buying decision. I have a DC65, DC65 is the former name of this machine. My DC65 is still under warranty as I write this. Yet after spending an hour on the phone with Dyson customer service and dropping my Dyson off for a couple of days at my local Dyson service center, I’m told I would need to spend about $130 to disassemble and clean the cyclone and to replace the HEPA filter in order to restore this vacuum to its full effectiveness.
I remember part of my justification for buying this expensive machine was that Dyson claimed that with washable filters and cyclone technology there would be no ongoing costs after the initial purchase. But now Dyson customer service tells me spending nearly a hundred bucks to disassemble the cyclone is “routine maintenance” and not covered by warranty. BTW, just buying a new cyclone from Dyson is a couple bucks cheaper than having the old one serviced. Mine is not an unusual case. Google “clogged Dyson cyclones” and you’ll see a lot of videos featuring dirt packed internal cyclones. I’m a cautious consumer and I’m not used to falling for false claims. It makes me angry when I do. I decided not to throw good money after bad and bought a cheap bagged vacuum on Amazon for less than the price of fixing my Dyson. And when it clogs up, I’ll replace the bag for less than five bucks.

Extremely disappointed. While the power of the Dyson Big Ball "Multi-Floor" lives up to their ads, it would be wonderful if only the supposed self-adjusting height mechanism on the power bar actually worked on carpets and mats. To date, I have not had the ability to vacuum any of my carpets or mats since no: #1. It does not self-adjust from the flattest of mats to medium height carpet. The moment I put the head on literally 'any' carpet it stops dead; stuck on that spot regardless if pulling the lighter power lever; another issue.
#2. I do not believe anyone considered all the millions of seniors in the world with arthritic hands. Can you imagine having to constantly pull a lever with one finger as you vacuum? Not simple a switch or little door you open and that is that no. One must pull on it with the same hand as holding the handle the entire time and, #3. Even the floor tool has issues being it not only moves side to side, but for some reason also, up and down, meaning quite often the entire head is not flat on the floor and by-the-way, if bounced upwards will often remain in that position. Further, because of this up and down, basically turning any which way action, I cannot even use the floor tool on mats and carpets while I search for a replacement.
THESE RATHER IMPORTANT ISSUES LEAD TO THE OBVIOUS QUESTION: Is there a powerhead available that can be manually adjusted where I can actually utilize this expensive vacuum? I would appreciate a reply from anyone with that knowledge. This has been deeply disappointing having been displaced for 6 months due to a house / garage fire, returning home just two weeks ago and looking forward at least, to a powerful vacuum to clean up all the messes from the ongoing rebuild. Now I am stuck here unable to vacuum any carpets or mats at all but for a stick vac. Worse, because of that fire I've lost all kinds of contents including office contents, where of course, I filed my receipts. The vacuum is just three months old. I can tell you that. Thank you to anyone who has any knowledge of other Dyson powerheads.

Since Dyson has retired this model the company no longer manufactures parts or provides services for our vacuum model. So, we are forced to purchase a new vacuum instead of inexpensively replacing the brushbar! The customer service representative offered to give us 20% off a new vacuum. What a scam to increase sales! We WILL have to buy another vacuum, but it WON’T be another Dyson! BEWARE! Those who own other models with a cord are likely to be facing the same situation! Given the fact that we've owned a Dyson upright in the past (which we loved!) and my wife did her due diligence on the V8 Absolute prior to buying, we had high expectations. It was perfect for our new home since our floors are primarily reclaimed hardwood, and are largely uneven. Unfortunately after a few months, the unit started 'pulsating' (their term, not mine). Essentially it was not running steadily any longer. We've spent hours with Dyson on the phone cleaning filters, disassembling/cleaning/reassembling, replacing batteries, and---most recently---replacing the motor.
We were certain that the motor replacement would finally do the trick, but our optimism was quickly defeated. After 9 months of these efforts, our unit will only run steadily if we remove the filter entirely---exactly where we were originally. I am absolutely baffled as to why this problem continues, but Dyson needs to step up to the plate and replace our unit entirely. At this point in time, this is the worst $450 I've ever spent. The online reviews are generally good, so perhaps we just got a lemon. If that is the case, Dyson needs to make things right.

I had purchased a DC77 a few years back and it was an exceptional vacuum up to about a month ago. I called Dyson and they advised where to take for repair as I still had approx 6 months left in my warranty. Dyson advised it would be approx a week before I would have my unit back. With 3 animals and kids I could not really bear for the timeline to be much longer than that. The repair shop advised me the unit needed a new motor and that they were on back order. I patiently waited for approx 2 weeks on top of the original week and contacted the repair shop again only to be told the motor was still not in with no ETA either. Frustrated I contacted Dyson and asked them to please advise what is being done as I cannot be without my unit for this long. They advised they would get in touch with me in 24 hours to let me know if the unit was still going to be repaired or replaced outright.
I received an email the next day telling me a brand new DC77 was en route to me via Purolator and my only responsibility was to return the older unit back to them (they provided the return Purolator label as well so no cost to me). The cherry on top was the fact they have also extended the warranty until October of 2020 as well even though my original warranty was to run out in Oct of 2019. So not only did they send a brand new unit but I also have another year warranty that I did not have on a brand spanking new model of the DC77. Dyson you have outdone yourself. We have owned our 'Animal' for just under 5 years, and as a vacuum it performs quite remarkably well and is very light in weight. We have two Golden Retrievers who contribute in a significant way to the vacuum getting a very good workout. I guess one might say that all the 'animals' work well together! However, like all tools and gadgets, there will always be ways to make improvements.
One particular shortcoming that we have discovered, and I have pointed this out on several occasions to Dyson personnel, with very mixed responses, is the way the small carrier wheels on the turbine head keep falling off. What happens is dust and hair accumulates around the spindle/axle of these small wheels and pops the wheels off. My suggestion to staff was to redesign these wheels such that they could be removed for cleaning. As they are, it is a friction fit that, after they have come off several times, can no longer be re-installed. Staff response, as I said has been varied, ranging from replacing the power turbine head (under warranty) at least 5 times, to telling me that I don't clean my vacuum properly after use, to providing me a link to the Dyson store where I can purchase a new head. None of these solutions as put forward address the problem.
The last time the turbine powerhead was replaced (under warranty), the wheels had come off within a week of using it...and our home is only a small, 2-bedroom bungalow. As to my not maintaining the unit and cleaning it after use, I spend as much time cleaning my vacuum as I do vacuuming with it! Conclusion is that responding personnel do not pass on information, and some personnel need instruction in public relations. This product could be quite good with a minor redesign of a small part, but no one listens. A proactive, responsible, and sincere company would listen to customer feedback.

The vacuum itself I was very pleased in at the start. However over a few weeks the battery quickly deteriorated. Max speed lasts TWO minutes at most and normal speed 10 minutes which is unacceptable. I expected much more from a well known company. Expect to need to get the battery replaced if you purchase a cordless vacuum from Dyson. To even get the battery replaced, expect to battle with Customer Service. DON'T BUY!!! If you do, DON'T GO CORDLESS. Not worth your time and effort.

I loved my Dyson - while it worked. But it stopped after a year. The machine still runs, and still has suction, but the wand and rotor brush do not. I complained and Dyson sent me not one but three identical wands and the little rotor brush. The machine still does not work with any wand or rotor brush. Only when disconnected from the above. So it's useless to me.

The machine was amazing when we first got it and it stopped working in 5 months. My friend bought a Dyson and it would work sometimes and now it won't pick anything up. She spent more time trying to get it to work. We returned ours and she's just going to order another one. She thinks because Dyson ratings are so high it might just be a bad machine and is going to try it again. Not me!

My Dyson cylinder is now out of guarantee, but last weekend there was a loud banging noise, an acrid smell of plastic burning, and a shower of black dust belched out of the base. This machine is not used more than once a week, (and I find the suction is not great and it's unwieldy to use), in a small house, with no children and no pets. I've been sourcing a repair, but the cost is iniquitous, so I've just ordered a a new one…but NOT a Dyson. I'm not willing to fork out £££s every few years to replace a carpet cleaner with his latest invention.
Also, I was surprised to see on his website the long list of models they no longer supply parts for. Surely a company of this size could maintain a good stock of replacement parts? Perhaps this tells us a lot about the longevity of the products. The maintenance telephone number number is very hard to get through. I was trying all day, although when answered, the lady was very pleasant and helpful, but finding it would cost nearly £200 to repair!!!

I ordered a Dyson upright vacuum around Thanksgiving and didn't like the way the ball operated, so sent it back. The company sends you a packing slip and tells you to go to the UPS store nearest you for them to pack it up. Don't do this. The male customer service rep sent me the wrong packing slip with a code that didn't match my vacuum, apparently, so the vacuum was sent to the wrong center. Two months later I still hadn't gotten the $350 refund for the vacuum, so I called - it took that rep, a very competent female, several hours to find the vacuum. Now four months after I sent the vacuum back I still have not gotten my refund. I've called twice more and the line of callers to the company today is 48 people long - the last time it was 25, so I clicked on the option for them to call me back. They never called me back. If I don't hear from them this week I am going to file a complaint. DON'T GET A DYSON.

After a 1 year started having trouble with the machine. Called Dyson. I was told it was under warranty and where to take it. Then I got a bill to receive my vacuum back. Called Dyson, what a joke of people. Dyson customer service will tell you anything to get you off the phone but never call you back. I am still waiting for someone from Dyson to call me and it's been 3 weeks. People, please don't buy a Dyson. everything about them sucks, even their customer service.

My first one was under one year old when this horrible chemical burning smell stank up the entire house. Fearing it had an electrical short, I exchanged for a new one. The new one was purchased in Jan 2019 and has only been used 5 times as it is only used when house cleaner comes to vacuum twice per month. I have back issue so cannot vacuum myself. This one doing exactly the same thing. In addition the ball gets way too hot and twice now it turns on immediately when plugged into the outlet. Scared me to death as sparks flying like I have never seen which is par for the course. Off means off so why does it turn on the vacuum when it is plugged into the outlet? This vacuum is an electrical hazard. The odor is a burning smell so these are dangerous. I tried to call Dyson several times but who has time to wait for the 7 callers ahead of me? Terrible customer service. I needed to post this for the safety of others.

I ordered parts for my Dyson on dyson.com on Jan 28, 2019. I received an initial confirmation that my payment would be processing (I used the Amazon payment method on their website). Two weeks went by and nothing else was heard. I emailed Dyson support on Feb 10, 2019. They found my order and on Feb 11, 2019 stated the order was still processing.
On Feb 20, 2019 I still heard nothing so emailed back and requested to cancel my order and I would go through Amazon, or a different third party to get the parts I needed. They they said they pushed my order to the fulfillment center and they COULD NOT cancel my order. They said it would be shipped shortly and once fully processed would take 8-14 (MORE) days until I received my shipment. It is now Feb 28, 2019 and I still do not have my parts or an email stating my order has fully processed. Still no tracking or shipping information. I am beyond pissed at this company. I love my Dyson, but once this one dies I WILL NOT get another one. They need to reevaluate their orders and shipping process as this is the poorest customer service I have ever experienced with a big name brand company.

Purchased the Dyson big ball canister vacuum in May of 2017 for $500. Worse vacuum we have ever owned. Numerous issues since receiving. Recently the vacuum was emitting a horrendous odor. In a desperate attempt I ran water thru the filter area of the unit. Out poured black mold for over 15 minutes. This hazardous mold has been sent airborne thru the vacuum into my home.
I explained fully the issue and steps I took to Dyson who instructed me to send the unit to their service "professionals". This vacuum was sent with a full explanation of the situation. Received a call from a local service facility telling me it would cost over $150 to thoroughly clean the vacuum because there was water. I tried telling him to read the note which clearly explained why water was used. He would not listen that the smell existed prior to an attempted cleaning and continues telling me the smell was due to the water. Avoid Dyson products. Inferior product with poor, rude customer service.

There are three Dyson machines in my house. One canister, and two cordless. All have had issues and repairs. The latest one is a V8 Animal 2.5 years old. Was purchased July 2016. It stopped working in Dec of 2017. After much discussion with customer care, New battery. In Dec 2018 same problem. Now there is no warranty left. I did however put another new battery in this machine. January 2019 now the machine runs for 10 minutes before the battery gets blazing hot and shuts down. Fire hazard as far as I am Concerned. Obviously it’s something other than the battery causing this problem. No favourable response from customer care. Considering all this, the machine is way overpriced and does not perform up to a 600$ value machine. Please DON’T BUY A DYSON.

I have had my Dyson Cyclone v10 for a little less than a year. It took me a very long time to purchase a free standing vacuum because of the expense. For the first couple of months (2 months) I was in cleaning heaven, then about week 9 I started to notice the battery life wasn’t holding for very long, by week 11 I was lucky to get 5 minutes. I called Dyson directly because I had paid 599$ for this and hasn’t even had the machine 3 months! The male on the phone said for me to switch it to “extended run” instead of “maximum suction”. Well the whole reason I bought this particular vacuum is because I have dogs (short hair) and I want to have max suction. So I did what the man told me and I got about 3-4 minutes more on the battery. Not enough to do my lower level home.
So months pass, I don’t really use Dyson, I went and bought a “Shark Professional” - has a cord, but oh well! At least I can vacuum my home in one go! The Dyson was used by my husband this morning at under 1 year old since purchase, and it ran for about 30 seconds... Horrible battery life! Horrible customer service! Horrible vacuum!!

We received a return confirmation email. Called ~10 days later to see where the V10 was, it had never been sent. We were then told 3-5 days again. Called again on 1/18 to see where the vacuum was. It of course was never shipped. Tried to tell us 3-5 days again at which point I cancelled the order. Firstly. If Mr. Dyson can be knighted for inventing the Dyson Vacuum. Then I think the guy that invented the Corsair should be knighted. I like my V10, but literally returned it twice. First time it cracked open, second time, it just stopped working. Support was very kind and responsive. I am now on my 3rd new canister. I am NOT abusive nor picky. But I already see signs of wear on the canister. It seems to be chipping. I’m really gentle on it and store it properly. Even if I were abusive, that seems to be the key feature in any other vacuum. They are tanks! This product is also full of design flaws. The brush has no baffling that allows air to pass through while on a rug. Therefore when you do vacuum a rug. You can’t move. Because it sticks to the rug.
They have fixed the problem by designing a new head. At $59.00 more $$$!!! Show me a vacuum that didn’t think of RUGS??? And there is only a flexible hose for newer models or at another $50.00. Mr. Dyson must have tickled the queen one fine night. Because he hasn’t designed anything breathtaking. I’ll live with this machine until it stops. I’m mad that I got rid of my Miele. I just didn’t want to buy another bag. With sincere patience and good intentions. I would never recommend this stick. Never. I purchased this at Costco. Plunked down my $499.00. What you don’t get are the other attachments and a smaller canister. I empty it after every use so that’s nothing for me.

It is true that the vacuum has a lot of suction power; however, you have to clean it maybe every couple of months, which means you have to take the entire thing apart. I had to watch a video of this each time I did it. It is not easy to get back together either. I had the vacuum for two years and the motor failed. Maybe the Shark I will buy next year, will be better, but the Electrolux cordless that I bought to replace the Dyson doesn’t have a very good suction power but is very simple to clean. I would stay away from the DYSON unless you have a lot of money to burn and somebody to take it apart and put it back together when it needs cleaning!

My experience with our new D7 is that it will never work more than 10 to 15 minutes - PERIOD. The D7 offers convenience outside when cleaning our vehicles' interiors. I did follow the Dyson instructions when brand new, with regard to making sure the vacuum battery was fully charged before initially using it. I just finished cleaning a large SUV, it has taken four battery recharges to finish the interior cleaning and allowing for the time it takes to fully recharge the battery, it has taken two days. Each time the vacuum was dead within 10 minutes or less. Definitely not satisfied with this Dyson product. However, it must be noted here that there is another Dyson in our home with which we have been very satisfied, and nothing cleans up pet hair better than a Dyson, period.
