When we redid the closet using Closet World, the designer was very nice and designed the whole thing. And the installation was quick. But I don’t like the fact that they keep calling me and soliciting services. I keep telling them I’m not interested, but they keep calling. It's annoying.

My rental property had no closet before. It was an empty space. So, I installed Closet World products in there and everybody liked it a lot including the mirrored doors. The installation team kept finding issues with the building being old and that nothing was straight. So, I had to hire somebody to do whatever they weren't able to do. But the installers did a good job.

I had a designer out 12/4/2019. After she completed the design, I realized it might present a problem accessing my water heater. I on looked at my invoice for her number and there was not one. I called the customer service number on Friday after her visit to change the order (within the 72-hour cancellation window) and I never heard from the designer. I phoned customer service again and this time she returned my call. When I told her my problem she said they could change the installation location, but they would not decrease the price because I would not need the extra cabinet. She refused to seek an adjustment.
I phoned her manager Monte several times. I emailed and never received a response. I am a repeat customer of more than 5K of work and I have never been treated so poorly. I am in the process of disputing my deposit for a refund, and I plan on reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and I WILL take them to small claims court if I don't get my refund. Do not do business with them because they are unresponsive if there is a problem. R. **

About 15 years ago, I had my closet redone by Closet World. I had to take everything out of the closet and I painted it. Then they came in and did what they did. It went really fast. Recently, I had to replace some rods. In my garage, some of them had that plastic on the end to where you hook the rod and it broke. I had brackets put in for it to be able to hold. It's something heavier than plastic so it'll last longer. The installation went well and I’m very happy with what they did. I'm gonna be moving out-of-state and I'm gonna build me a house. I would call them again and have them do it there too.

My experience with Closet World was great! They did a great installation job. The problem is they have called me every month since then, asking to come over and give me a free estimate. I keep telling them they already did the job but they keep calling and insisting anyway. I'm trying to get off their call list. It's very annoying.

I had used Closet World 10 years ago. I used to live in an apartment, but I own the apartment building. I had to redo my closet and it was really a beautiful job. They put up a wall unit for me with drawers and it was very good. 10 years ago, it wasn’t at $900. So when I live in a house which is part of my building, adjacent to the building, I needed my linen closet redone because I was gonna turn it into a craft closet where I keep my arts and crafts stuff. They did a horrible job. I didn’t like the way they did it. They gave me a price and then when they came out, they upped the price. They said they had to charge more for this and that. So, I said, “Never mind. Forget it.”
I wasn’t satisfied because it was messy. I paid $300 at first, and they tried to raise it to 7, and then somebody else called me up and said that they would give me a better deal. I ended up paying more than the original thing. Also, I ended up having to get them to come out two times to do a job that was supposed to be done the first time. I attribute that to it probably changed hands. So, I just decided I’ll never deal with them again. They called me, offered me stuff and I said, “No. Never again.” It’s not the same quality or company. They might not do them the same way they did before because they quoted me one price, and then when they did the work, they tried to say it was more. I don’t want that experience again. Closet World needs to keep their word and just do what they said they’re gonna do. Don’t bait and switch. Don’t do anything to get me and then hit me.

We had five closets done by Closet World and it was a process. The first three closets got done really good and in a timely manner. But the fourth one was a mess and took a couple of tries. Throughout the process, they never made me feel like they got measurements wrong. The last one, which was with a glass door, was a nightmare because it took about nine tries. The frustration was that I have to take time off, they would come in and it wasn’t the right measurement, so then I wasted my time. It took a while, but at least, we're done right now. And I'm happy that it's done with.

I had gone to a private company and I was having difficulty with getting calls back and with understanding communication. I had a representative from Closet World come out and after I got an idea of the pricing being so high, I had to think about it. Then she came back out again and we talked about design. I’m very pleased with what I have as well as the designer’s performance and communication with me to get exactly what I wanted. The installation took six hours. It turned out that what I ended up with was about the same as one of the ads that I see, and I do show people and mention it.

I would honestly never recommend Closet World to anyone! I paid $1549 for a closet organizer system to be installed. The installer could not install the new system due to the manufacturer did not send out parts to spec. After multiple phone calls to a supervisor who never returned my calls I am still without the baseboards they removed and threw away from my custom closet, the bottom frame of my drawers and also including the right side of my closet and left side don't match with a finished board. I would rate them a zero star if available. Now going to court over my unfinished closet.

I paid a price of $1750 for a closet that lasts for less than 10 months, yet I had to pay another $60 out of my own pocket for ClosetWorld's mistake. My professional carpenter examined the faulty installation on site and explained that the damage was clearly an installation error not an user error. There are FIVE hinges in total on each door. But the hinge that falls off is neither from the TOP TWO nor from the MIDDLE TWO, but the BOTTOM ONE - which is the lowest. You might hang on the top of the door to apply force to detach the top two hinges, or forcefully pull the door handle (located at the middle of the door) to detach the middle two. However, the one that actually came off is the BOTTOM one that receives the least amount of stress/force possible which contradicts ClosetWorld's "forced out" argument.
Also, the original holes drilled to attach the bottom hinge has unequal depth with one much shallower than the other which clearly shows the faulty installation to start with. When I asked ClosetWorld to come up with a scenario that could detach the bottom hinge, even he himself was speechless. Is it even possible for someone to sit on the floor to use a hammer to apply a force upward to detach the bottom hinge of a closet that costs $1750? Even if it were, there was too little space between the bottom of the door and the floor to even insert a hammer to apply a force.
If it's indeed an error on my side, I'd be happy to even pay the full price of $120. Otherwise, I hate to pay even a penny. After all, if a product only lasts for less than 10 months, I shouldn't even be charged for $1750, as I could easily get a cheaper one at IKEA even with full warranty. Sadly, ClosetWorld choose to rip off their customers, as it is how they do business. I am writing this honest review just to warn people not to become ClosetWorld's another victim.

Penny was great. Stick with her. We had them do three closets and when she first got here, we thought we wanted it done a certain way. Being the expert, she asked if we might want to do it another way and she was 100% correct. The way the closets got designed was a lot on her, and it was perfect. And then, the installers Closet World sent took care of everything. They also cleaned up everything. It went really smoothly and quickly. From the time we sat down and designed the closets, it took about four days to get the installation done.
Penny called to verify that the installers had arrived on time, that they did the job and cleaned up, and then a couple of days later, she called again to make sure that everything was done properly. We told her that it's like the installers were never here and those closets just magically appeared. And now that we’ve got everything in there, it’s perfect.

Closet World's rep was professional and knowledgeable, and their installers were invisible. They just came, did their thing and left. We had a closet repaired, where half of an existing closet had to be rebuilt. It would have been nice if they could have handled the painting at a reasonable price, though. I had to have a man come in and do touch up after they installed the closet. Other than that, it was a great experience.

My brother and sister-in-law had Closet World cabinets installed in their house. They were good quality cabinets and I didn't want to have cabinets installed again later. I had my garage cleared and they put the cabinets up. I then decided to order one more cabinet and they came out at a later date. It went well and I was impressed with the way it was done. The cabinets are holding up well. But I don’t like that about once every two months, I get phone calls from Closet World offering 50% off. I just spent $5,000 on cabinets in my garage. I'm not gonna do my closet right now. If you were satisfied with them the first time, you're gonna call when you're ready to buy new cabinets again and then have them do it the second time. Aside from that, everything went great with Closet World.

I was on a tight timeframe and Closet World was able to do it in the time I needed it. The designer was great and I redid three of my closets on my house. I was impressed by how fast the reps were able to mark everything out, and that the price point was solid for what I was trying to do, so that was good. But I get a call every two weeks which is super annoying to me. They don't know that I'm in their system and I bought closets from them again.

Things are not good. First of all, the designer didn’t consider the right place. She didn’t tell me the closet was without a backboard, so we had to paint the walls color like the closet. It added extra work. I wish she had told us earlier so that when we designed the house, we could have left the area blank to match the closet. When everything was delivered, the worker had to re-cut everything. So, it was not the original plan design. When I called the designer, she said it was too late to change it. She said, “I will ask the sales manager to give you a discount,” and when I contacted her, she never responded. Also, when they installed something, they didn’t install properly so we cannot use it. I called Closet World and nobody followed up. I wish that someone could come to revise it. I don’t have time to keep on calling because every time to call, it’s 30 minutes to get a hold of somebody to talk. And after you talk, nobody knows what’s going on.

Closet World advertises a lot and my mom had a friend who worked for them years ago. She always told my mom that they do great work. Someone came out for the consultation and they were difficult because on the first appointment, the person showed up downtown but never made it in the building and wanted to reschedule. It was a huge inconvenience and I wasn’t gonna go with Closet World but someone called and I said okay as long as they make it next time. When Lilly showed up, she was super great and she was a nice, pleasant person. She took the measurements. The design made 65% of my expectations and I went with what she suggested.
I literally showed up to let the installers in, and once I got them up and all their supplies, I left them in my apartment on my own accord. They were prompt, courteous, wonderful and they seemed to know what they were doing. I explained to them the situation because my mom, at the time, was in critical condition. They were very understanding under the circumstances, very professional and very comforting. I gave them an area where they could do it and a lock because it’s one building, and I’m on the third floor. So, they were very appreciative about the space that I provided them and they said they could make it work, and they did. They were awesome.
I was a little disappointed though. When I contracted with Lily to create the shelves, I didn't realize that I needed to ask if there was a backing. The guys from Closet World used the existing wall that I had in my building and then put shelves around, which was my bad because I didn't know to ask that. This building was built in 1920, and the whole point of contracting with someone else was that I probably wouldn't have done as good a job. But I could have done that myself. It’s workable but it isn’t ideal and they're already in, so they're set. Other than that, everything was good.

We had a completed project many years ago with Closet World on a different bedroom and this time, it was for a walk-in closet in a master bedroom. The reps came out first to measure and then make the drawings. Then, they came back and they had to do the drawing again and remeasure. On the third visit, which was the installation, there were a couple of hiccups. We had the floor tiled just before having the installation so that it matched the tile in the master bath because that’s the access to the walk-in closet in the master bathroom. So, we finished that and we had the carpeting removed from that walk-in closet. The tile installers were hit-and-miss and the floor wasn’t perfectly level.
The Closet World reps had to shim a cabinet that they constructed and in the process of shimming, there must have been a weak spot under the tile, maybe where there hasn’t been enough of the mastic or the material that keeps a tile in place, and a little quarter piece chipped off. It broke and they came back and did a good job of concealing it. It wasn’t their error, though. It was more to do with the tiles and they didn't have any part in that. They made many concessions at my request and this was after the contract was signed. The project has been completed and everything went well.

I had been wanting to try Closet World for a long time. We got something from the mail and when we bought our house, I tried them out. The saleslady was great and very informative but we had issues during the installation phase. The installers had to come back at least three times to finally finish the job. They didn’t have the proper materials and the right measurement. I had to wait longer than the estimated date that I told them and even the installation wasn’t up to par. They tried their best to fix the issue, but my husband and I gave up. I was tired of arguing and I didn’t know what else to do so, we just left it. We paid almost nine grand and it looked like IKEA products, so it didn’t really make sense to us. We were expecting a lot more with the money that we paid. I had a teeny office with a desk in it but I would rather have a closet than an office that I don’t use. I wanted to hire somebody and Closet World had this advertisement that I saw every week so, I went with them and I have a walk-in closet now. The installer had to come out to do the baseboards and didn’t talk too much. He was a nice guy and he did it fast and clean. But I wish I spent a few more minutes discussing the options so I didn't have such a bare closet now. It's very barren looking and I thought the dresser drawer would fit better. It’s smaller than the opening so, it's kinda like a waste of space. Also, they were cheap and crappy. It's not gonna last long but it looks nice and it's very clean. It's brand new and I waited about two months to put anything in there. I noticed when I first came in that the drawers were wobbly and not very well-fitting. It was light and wasn't very sturdy.
I explained to the rep from Closet World what I wanted and they were really quick about it. It was a little high-pressure sale. They gave an amount and I said that I would think about it. They gave me more off and I spent $2,300. I probably could have gotten the parts for 500 and did it myself but I don’t do that kind of stuff. They did a fine job installing it but I thought it would look more finished. If you want 50 or 60 or 70% off less, that's what I got, so I got what I paid for.

I had Closet World install a bedroom closet and an office desk. The designer was very nice but the installation was bad. It was not properly done and I had a lot of problems with it. It was damaged and Closet World didn't go for the size of the items that I wanted. At the time, I was in need. I have always done my own work and I used to do my own closets. This is the very first time that I let anybody do carpentry work. The money that they asked was outrageous but I said that I might as well have something nice done right away. They said they would do it in one day and they did it. But on the first day that they were supposed to come, the guy called me about an hour before, saying that they would not be able to install my closet because the guy got sick. Closet World is a large company. I got them over from TV and they pay a lot of money to be on TV. Then they call me up an hour early to tell me that the guy that is supposed to install is sick? What kind of stupid company do they have?
I asked when they would be coming. They decided that they were going to schedule it a week later. But I forgot and they came. I told them that I couldn’t take them in that day because I had an appointment with the doctor at three o’clock. They said that by then, they would be finished so I told them to come in early and have it done so I still could go up to my appointment. Then I had to go and the guy said he still had two hours. I told him that I couldn’t wait two hours. I asked a friend of mine to be here in the house until he finished. I didn’t approve the work because I didn’t see it so when I came back, I almost got a fit because it was not what I wanted and needed.
I talked to the designer many times but after the installation, she sort of vanished a little bit. I am very unhappy and I’m not satisfied at all. They said that they were gonna fix what I didn’t like, but they took too long. It seemed they didn’t care about my business. So I told them that if they come and repair, it is gonna take a long time so I asked to make a settlement. The guy said he would give me a 10% discount. I didn’t like it. It took them two weeks in order to decide on the settlement. They said that it wasn’t good so I finally told them to forget it and to just come in but I want it to be done as soon as possible. A week later, they called me. The guy said that the work would be too much hassle for them, so they would settle. They gave me $300 back to just leave it like that. So I’m trying to live with the things that I really don’t like. I wouldn’t recommend Closet World.

I had a timeline and I was working with it for my employer and the manager was obviously trying to close the deal immediately. He was obnoxious and it was not a pleasant experience. But the guy that came to do the measuring and the installation teams were total pros, and very calm and relaxing. There was no pressure. We had some extra shelves made and there was a scratch in one of the things, but they came back and fixed it right away. The closet is great and it’s very good quality.

Closet World was the company that came up on Google and the designer’s idea was exactly what I wanted. The installation went great and everything was perfectly fine. It took less than two hours. I love the finished product but I’m supposed to get a refund and I never got it. They charged me for cutting out the baseboard area, and it wasn’t cut out. So, we just had to make do with what they brought.

I had Closet World install a closet for me. When I saw them in the paper and on TV, I said, “Well, let me go ahead and give them a call,” and they came out. The designer was very friendly, nice and I liked her. I told her I wanted a lot of shelves and hanging room and she helped me with the design. Everything that she did was great, and when their installer came out, what they had and what I had was something different. There were three shelves missing and I had to pay extra for those. It was included in the design I had, but not the one they brought here.
The designer was great and I liked her attitude. We even talked about the pricing, and we cut out the middle piece with the drawers and the shelves that she was gonna put in because of the price, and she crossed that out. So, we were clear on that. I thought everything was good and clear with her. So when the installers came and they only put three shelves out, I told them, “Well, my paper, it shows six.” And we were going back and forth in regards to that. They just kept telling me that item was what I paid for. I really needed the shelves, so I just told them I’ll pay for them. The finished product looked okay to me. I like the way it looked. I was just unhappy about the shelves.

I had an appt set for a Saturday morning but received a call the afternoon before cancelling for with no reason for the cancellation. The caller said the rep would call me to rebook that day, but again, no call. Completely unreliable and no matter how great the product might be, reps who are unreliable are not going to get a star from me.

The quality of our new closet is great. The closets are more organized, and it’s a cleaner look. It’s what we expected.

Closet World's prices are 50% off. They gave me a high price and then they took off the 50. The price doesn't matter for me, but the closet is not fit well. The door has a big gap. I don't wanna be dusting into the closet and that was why I had a glass door installed, but there's a huge gap, so still, dust is going to the inside of the closet.
The designer that came out to help me has a good attitude, and she helped me. But when they came to install, the size was not right, so we had to do it again. And the installer was great. But, he did a mistake because he didn't install the right way. That's why there's a gap. I texted him but he never answered. Closet World should repair the issue. Right now, I'm not happy. The after service is not good.

Closet World's price was good and the consultation was straightforward considering everything I needed. The designer wrote it out. A lot of the other companies now have computer systems where they can send you 3-D images of everything and just a whole lot of fancy stuff, but what was it for me were the expertise and the experience of knowing what I needed. Closet World installed a working closet system and we're pleased with it. The guy was good. He came in and did his work. He was pretty low-key and very respectful. The work was good quality and everything was professional.

I’d seen Closet World's work at my friend’s house and I thought they did a good job. The designer was very nice and eager, but I could tell that she was new to the job. She had to call her boss to clarify some points, which was fine as I’d rather get the right answer than her make the whole thing up. We installed a peg wall in my garage and it took a few hours, but it was very easy. The gentleman showed up and was very polite. My garage is detached around the back and so, he worked at his own pace. I love their work and I tell people about it all the time.

I had cabinets done in the entertainment center to hold my shoes. The Closet World designer was very nice, and she came here and did the work. She did all the designs before she left, she matched the price and she chose the design. Installation began with a problem though because the installers said the units that they had were bigger based on the type, so they had to change what they brought. Then, we had to make some changes because within the designs, it wasn’t working. It wasn’t practical at all. Still, the people that came to do the installation were very accommodating and nice.
I’m very disappointed with the closet. The owner called me after the designer came, and he told me he wanted my business. Then when I had problems later, he never called me. I sent two emails and he never replied. The designer called me two times, and I asked her to come and see the finished product because it was wrong. She said she would tell the boss that he needed to come, but nobody showed up. In the end, I had two wall-to-wall closets and with one of the closets, the design was wrong. It was too close to the other one, with at least four inches between the wall on one and the door at the other. It’s not very practical to move.
Closet World also pulled the payments. The down payment was 50%, and the other 50 was supposed to be taken when it was done. They pulled it out right at the first day the people were here to install. Even if they had not installed, they took the money out. They were supposed to finish the job first, and then pull the money. They need to pay more attention to not just the sales, but follow-up with the customers.

I had used Closet World in the past with no issues. The products I have installed still are to the quality that I would expect for the price that I paid. The previous product I used was very reasonable for the price. However, I feel that in recent years, their pricing had become exponential. I thought I was gonna get something much better than what I actually got based on my previous pricing and previous experience.
I had a coupon and I gave them that, but after everything was said and done, I was reviewing the coupon pricing versus the pricing that they gave me and it didn't match up. I sent in the cancellation with the caveat that if we could reprice it, I would definitely go ahead with the project, but I didn't hear anything back. Then someone called me to say they're installing it. I said I canceled that and various people called me back. I provided all the information including that someone from their company had called me back the day that I canceled within the three-day time period, and they refused to give me my money back and made me wanna have to go to court to get my money back with them.
I felt they strong-armed on me into paying for something that I had canceled. I went ahead with it so that I don't have to deal with going to court to get my money back. But I absolutely overpaid based on the coupon that I had which was a 50% off. They didn't wanna honor that and go back and reprice it, and that's really my main concern. They also lied that I didn't cancel it in time which I had all the proof for that.
The installers did a 95% great job. They did a couple of extra things that I asked 'cause I asked for a custom cabinet that I had to be installed and they did that. That was really great. But there were some nicks and scratches and some other missing things that I would have hoped would not have been an issue but were. When I called Closet World, they did take care of some of the issues but they have not come back to take care of some of the nicks that were in the front of the cabinet doors, and it's been several months. They kept calling me to get me to rebook with them. I told them under no circumstances will I ever use their business again, and they still keep calling me. The installation and the designer were great. Everything else regarding that company was awful.

I had a big walk-in closet but the space was so underutilized that I knew I wanted something else. I called Closet World first to get a quote and they responded quickly. They came out at a time that fit my schedule and the quote was fair. So with all of that together, I was just ready to begin this project. Actually, it was a surprise for my wife because she was out of town. The closet was crowded and cramped so I opened it all up. I started taking all of her clothes out when she was gone and when she returned a couple of days later, everything was done. The clothes were all back in. It was just a big surprise.
I was very pleased with everything, from the design to the consultant who came out, the workers and the product. The closet is exactly what I was looking for and it’s a good product. It’s a whole lot better than we expected and without going overboard. I didn't wanna spend a whole lot of money because I know that the return on something like that, if I sell my house, isn't that great. There are other things that I can spend money on that would give me a better return. This, however, looks really good. It looks professional and clean. So it turned out very well without spending a lot of money on it. I love it.
It is really a very basic closet but it gave me more space in the closet to do other things and really make it more of a walk-in closet with a full-length mirror for my wife and a sit-down bench that I bought. There are hanging space for long dresses and shorter clothes, a lot of shoe space, shelves and two drawers for jewelry. The contractors who installed the closet were also very pleasant. My kids are gone I have nobody here so I had two bedrooms. One was a junk room and one was an extra bedroom that nobody slept in. I got rid of the junk room and put the bed in there making it into the extra bedroom. I called Closet World, set up an appointment and had them come out and give me a quote. The first one I had them do was a wall closet for hanging clothes. I then had them convert the former extra bedroom into a big closet. It has everything in it. I got one wall that they designed with short hang on each side and the long hang in the middle. On each side of the wall, one wall comes out a little bit further than the other and there's shelving. It has fabric cubes stuck in it. I also have a makeup table with all my stuff. I have my shoes and there's a place with all my personals like my underwear and my bra. I have a little dresser that has a mirror on it. It's pretty cool.
My closet's down the hallway from my bedroom so it's private. When I am getting ready, my husband's getting ready in the bedroom. I moved everything out of my bedroom into the room. I come in here and I put my make up on. It makes getting ready so much faster because I before, I didn't have the room to organize everything. I had stuff and shoes in every closet in the house. With my closet now, I have all my black tops in one tops section and my colored tops in the bottom tops section. On the left side, I have all my pants and I have all my T-shirts in the middle. I have all my dresses then I have all my shoes. Everything is just easy. When I cleaned out my closet, I didn't know I had things in there that had a tag on it or that I forgot I even bought it. Now, everything is just accessible.
The closet took six weeks to make. The designer came, he drew it up then he showed me a couple of different options. In the first option, he had a bench under the window and I didn't want that. I didn't wanna take up that much space. I wanted something that I could move if I wanted because I can always get a bench and stick it under the window. But I wanted to be able to move and I didn't want anything that was permanent, so we eliminated that.
He then drew up the plan and gave me the price. I agreed to do it. And then it was six weeks out, which gave me time because at that time, I still had my bedroom set up as a guest room. I had the other room that I was moving stuff into. I had a desk and file cabinets. I had to go through and throw out paperwork that I didn't need, organize everything and get rid of the desk. It also gave me time to paint the room, do the crown molding, pull up the carpet and refinish the hardwood floors. It gave me time to get ready for when they came.
Closet World did good work and I'm happy with it. It fulfilled my expectations of what I had visually in my head and what I ended up with. I have a ledge over the top where I have my purses all displayed. It's very functional for me. I love the fact that having the closet cuts down my time getting ready. I can be ready in 45 minutes, step out of the shower, do my makeup, and put on clothes because everything is just accessible. I can just pull clothes out, try it on instantly and hang it back up if I don't wanna wear it and pull something else out. It's the same when packing for a vacation.

Absolute horrible experience! Do not use this company unless you want to spend 6 months calling them to talk to them about scheduling and destruction of your closet! Here are a few things I'm dealing with...
- There is no internal communication. The installer broke my handle, took it with him (he claims that he left it with me. I cleaned the area and my handle that I purchased was never found. He stole it.) He never claimed that my closet was unfinished. So I had to wait 2 months for them to come back to install my drawer (and yes, I called them every day to schedule this).
- They punched holes in my wall as they were removing the old installed closet. Said they would repair it. Upon return, they gave me a tube of caulking! No gun, and said I had to fix it.
- I scheduled times for installing twice and they never showed up. When I called, they said they never recorded it.
And the list goes on! Save your time and use your money for another company, you'll be treated like garbage with this company.

She always got back to me in a very timely manner. I never had to follow-up with her. With their competitor, I would leave a message or ask something then wait two or three days to get a response. It would have been really good if Edna and the person who came out and installed communicated and had a meeting before they came to install so they could have seen the measurements. Edna took the measurement, made the graphic for me and it was all good. But the person who came to install said it was the wrong size. I wasted almost one and a half month because I waited for that.
But it was not a big deal and I'm all satisfied. They fixed it really smoothly and they came for the installation again. The walk-in closet is beautiful. But then, Closet World called me two weeks before and asked me if I wanted to switch, to which I said, “No.” The rep who was speaking told me that I would have to because Closet World couldn't do the installation on the date I was given anyway. Closet World has been around for a long time. I’ve seen their work before and they’ve done really nice stuff. So, it made sense to use them. However, they damaged my molding down at the bottom of the floor, where the floor and the wall meet. They also did not complete the project as far as finishing the wall. The wall is left unfinished where the closet was dismantled. The material on the original closet was dismantled and a new closet was installed, but they didn’t put the backing there, so I had to hire a handyman and pay more money to have those fixed.
Now, Closet World gave me a credit to fix the molding at the bottom, but they didn’t wanna fix or take responsibility for the backing of my closet. I was pretty dissatisfied with that. Their rep disputed the elements of the consultation. She claimed that she informed me that there would be no backing, and I disagreed with her because I would not have allowed for a job to be so unfinished. It was very unprofessional on her part to disagree in that way. They held firm and said that if I wanted to have that done, it would have been an extra $500. But the closets were already installed and I was dissatisfied with the exchange at that point. That is unfortunate because I have a much bigger closet that I need reorganization with. So, they lost that job and I’m in the process of consulting with other companies.

They came over when they were taking the measurement but they were measuring with the closet that I have and they were showing me based on the old closet. They said adding the new one would be nice and I believed them.
They sent the technician out to do the closet and when he finished, he called me to come and see. The job that was done is not the job I ordered. I was asking the guys about some imperfections in the alignment of the cabinet doors but they claimed it was because of my floors rather than because of their work, so I just let it go.

We first had an estimate from closet companies and we liked the estimate of Closet World the best. We had them install a mid-range level, wood grain master bedroom closet which is 7-feet by 7-feet, and we had closets on all the four walls. The designer, Anna, was very good and helpful. She spent a lot of time giving us all the details and she also had many ways in which to customize according to what we had asked. So, it was a very pleasant experience. The installers were wonderful. They did the whole installation in a matter of few hours and they did a great job. We like the final product. The only thing was that we thought the feature of the closets where we hang our clothes would be bigger. But now, we’re getting used to it and there’s more space inside, so that’s fine.

The designer from Closet World was very nice, really knowledgeable and very easy to work with. The quality of the 12 closets installed is very nice. It's better than my expectation and definitely worth the price. And those who installed these closets were pretty professional, and they kept my other stuff clean.

I got 3 different quotes from closet companies and Closet World was not only the cheapest but I also like the person who came and gave us the estimate. The representatives were very nice, knowledgeable, and took their time to work with us and plan it all out. The installer was great too. We had our garage totally redone with cabinets all the way around. They also redid 3 of our other closets and put shelves in. The only problem we had is that one of the doors on the garage was busted. It wasn't made quite right so they had to come back and replace it. But otherwise, they were quick and efficient. We're very happy and we would do it again.

I had Closet World do the master bedroom closet and a small unit in the garage. The designer I worked with was excellent. He did what I asked him to do and was accommodating in my request for changes. The people that did the installation were fine, except I'm still waiting for a resolution for a problem. I had the one in the garage pegged, installed above a desk and the peg broke material was mounted, flushed to the wall, which means it's unusable as pegged wood. You can't put anything in it, because the hole is flushed up against the wall. They offered to do that on the day that I left California, so I have to set up a new appointment. Despite that, I’m quite satisfied with everything and if I had to do another closet, then I would call them.

Closet World's designer was pretty good and their installation guy came in super-fast. I had them install two basic closets. Unfortunately, the installer removed a closet when he replaced with the new one but then he didn't repair holes in the wall from the old closet. I ended up having to repair it all myself at my cost. I'm very unhappy with the price that I paid for what I got. The designer made it seem like I was getting this Cadillac product but then once it was installed, it was something I could've done from Home Depot myself.

She showed enthusiasm about the product, went over and beyond to make sure I was happy and she's very professional. What she didn't know, she went out of her way to find out and I appreciated that. Also, installation was quick, they did it in one appointment, plus the guys that did it were clean.

Closet World's designer had some good ideas. This is the first that I was interested in and she laid it out. I liked it and I had two closets installed by them. However, there was a bit of a mix-up. The measurement of one of the closets that Closet World designed wasn't correct. It was off by almost seven inches. So, their installer quickly did modifications on site. Overall, I had a good experience.

So once Closet World gave me the estimate for the same thing I had told the other company, their price was much better and more reasonable. I had them work on two, big custom closets. The designer we had had a lovely attitude about her that was inviting and made you wanna deal with her. The installer was wonderful too. He did the installation in one appointment. The only thing is, I realized just last week that there was one piece of wood at the bottom that was a little loose. Despite that, I'm happy with the service. The only thing I didn’t like was that I wasn't informed that they were not gonna paint the area where they took off the old shelving. I had to spend money on getting that area painted. I had two closets installed in the master bedroom and the spare bedroom, and I like the layout of it in saving space by utilizing the space. The only issue I have is there's a gap in between the wood and the wall where the sides go up against the wall. I don’t like the way it came out because I expected more of a flush finish. Overall though, it was a pleasant experience.

I did two closets with Closet World - part of one closet and then another closet. The designer was the salesperson and Brandy was fantastic. But I had one thing that I was extremely dissatisfied about. I hired Closet World because I’m a widow and I’m here by myself. I asked the salesperson if the installers work for Closet World and she said yes. I told her that I wanted to make sure that I have a person who speaks English that I can communicate with since I don’t speak Spanish. When the installers got here, there were two guys and two of them spoke perfect English but the other one didn’t speak English at all. Then the two guys who spoke English were just helping the other one bring the stuff up and they were leaving.
I told them to please explain to the gentleman that it had nothing to do with him, that I was sure he was a great worker but that I couldn’t speak with him and I didn’t want that. One guy told me that I could call him and he would translate. But I told him that wouldn’t work for me. They called their boss and the boss got on the phone with me. He said that there was nothing he could do but that they could reschedule my installation. I asked why couldn't one of the English-speaking guys stay and the other two guys leave. But he said they had a really big important job. So in other words, my job wasn’t important to them. They basically told me that.
Then the boss asked what I wanted to do. I told him that he wasn't leaving me any choice. I was moving in a week and needed to get the stuff done. He said he wanted to make sure I was happy but I told him that, clearly, I was not happy at all. Then he said, “Well, sorry,” and basically hung up. Then his workmen started talking among each other. They ended up leaving a guy who spoke English and the other two left. They went against what their boss told them to do. But they did the right thing for customer service and I was extremely impressed by that. I gave them a big tip.
The installer did a good job too. The closet looks very good. It looks like what I bought. It’s exactly what I anticipated it to look like. The whole installation was also very clean, good and tidy. However, I do have one complaint. I had wide drawers done and I’m hoping they would hold up but I don’t feel like they’re gonna last. They don’t feel solid when I push them back in. If I don’t do it perfectly straight, it’s wobbly. I’m sure it’s because of the length of the drawer but I didn’t realize it would be like that. I would’ve thought that they would put a little more stability inside the whole construction of it.
But all in all, the salesperson was amazing. The installers, for stepping up like that, were amazing as well. But I didn’t feel like the management cared enough to handle the situation, even though the staff did. I just wanted someone who spoke English working in my house with me and the workmen understood what I was saying. But the boss didn’t really care and that’s the guy who’s supposedly making the decisions. His workers said, “Yeah, he’s not so great on customer service.” Obviously, he was not. Apparently, these guys had worked for him for a long time so they felt comfortable doing what they did. But if they had some new guys, they wouldn’t.

I had previously used California Closets. They were very expensive, but I really like them. I wish I would have used them again because they were very good. But I was trying to do something that’s a bit less expensive because I was putting in closets that were somewhat hidden. I found Closet World online, and they come and do the assessment and give you the whole estimate. I had originally called them for one closet in my attic, like a loft space. It was a decent size job. Then while the rep was there, we decided to do my bedroom closet also.
We had talked about two other spaces as well, so potentially, there could've been four projects. But I narrowed it down to two to keep the closets somewhat minimal. The designer that I dealt with was very nice and she was telling me all the capabilities and everything they could do, which included pouring out some information, like a demo. It was cool. But because I have sort of an existing structure, and they put in what she wanted to do, that needed to be removed. There was no discussion of me having to get a company to come in to do the demo so that they can enter, so I was thinking this was all done.
She did all the measurements for the bedroom, for the upstairs space. She was the professional, and I didn't double check all of her measurements, as I should not have to as a customer. She said this was where it was gonnna come out and she would kinda put her hand. I said what exactly I wanted and that they were gonna do some for the attic area, gonna do the traditional closet with everything I want, and then off to the side, on the other side of the wall, they were gonna do space for storage bins, where I could insert plastic storage bins. It was a nice way to organize them.
The guys came to install, and the first thing they did was go into my bedroom. I was then told that the design did not work for my closet space. The drawer couldn't come out, as it would hit the wall. The whole design was flawed, and it didn't make any sense. They told me that they don’t do demos either. So having determined on the first visit that they couldn't do my bedroom, I cancelled that order. We went upstairs, and then they had to leave that day because nothing that was arranged was correct. But they came back another time. In all, there were three visits with the installers. They were great, very nice and friendly, although they couldn't do their job.
They did some installation in the attic, and when I came to inspect it, the closet part was fine but the knobs were wrong. I had paid for an upgrade, and those were incorrect. The doors didn't all shut perfectly, and there were a few little nicks. For the most part though, the design was fine, and it was what I had envisioned. But they had to fix their things. On the other side of the wall, the storage area/bin area was like a shoe rack. Literally, a shoe could fit in there. When we had discussed on what I wanted, and I had given her the storage bins to measure, I thought it was a joke.
So I started dealing with their sales person to kind of rectify all these, and that was where the real nightmare began. The installers were friendly, and it was not their fault that the wrong stuff was ordered as designed. At first, he was calling me and emailing constantly. I was at work, so I called him when I could. But then it was radio silence, and from then on out, I got this feeling that I was definitely gonna get screwed. Basically, at the end of the day, I didn't get my bedroom stuff and the attic has never been corrected. The knobs and the little nicks got corrected, but for that storage bin thing, I was told that I have to pay way more. But it was the girl who measured it. Why would I have to pay to get it redone? Now this whole project has been dragged on for months when it should have been done in one day. The issue never got resolved, and I ended up paying for what I got done.
Of the four things we were discussing doing, the two other jobs could not have been approved and done because they also required demo. Yet, the designer was trying to upsell me on those. I think there was a misunderstanding from the girl. She couldn't have been any nicer, but I don't think she knew what she was doing or what her company really did. The experience with Closet World was horrible. I would never use them, and I told everyone I know to never use them. I've walked away and I don't wanna put any more energy to get a refund. They suck, and I'm done with them.

I'm very pleased with Regina, who helped me to design my closet. She was very punctual and reliable. If I have another job, I will give it to her. We did a pantry next to the kitchen, and two bedroom closets. This project took a few weeks and I'm very satisfied with the result. The installation was done correctly, and the person who installed the closet did a very good job. Closet Word's service was good, but the materials they used are from IKEA and they do not have it custom made. It's a lot cheaper though. But they could make it more affordable. Closet World has a really nice ad on the very front cover of the paper. I tried before with them to get an estimate on inside the house with some stuff and I wasn’t satisfied. I compared it to Home Depot and it was a little less but they couldn’t install it. It would be more expensive. I ended up having a neighbor friend install it for me and it was beautiful. The next time around, I checked Closet World again and went with them for a garage project.
My designer was wonderful and I was very pleased with her. She was very thorough and she came back a couple of times to re-measure. She had it out the way I wanted it. But I don’t think the designers and installers talk to each other. The installers did it another way. The big thing was the platform. I was told theirs are hung and I figured out that’s attached to the wall somehow. But I wanted a platform underneath because we have earthquakes. The designer knew exactly what I wanted, and she put it all down on paper. It was all there on every single page.
I asked the first installer when he was here if he wanted me to make a copy for him so he could have a bigger copy. He told me he had one but his was a shrunk down copy. The platform thing was not in his copy or he didn’t even look at it. But he knew something was up partway through. I asked if he was gonna finish the underneath and he said yes. In the end, he said he didn't put the one cabinet in as there wasn’t room. They'd come back Monday and install it. He asked me to sign all the documents. I was sick and I signed like a fool. They left afterward.
But when I looked, there was nothing underneath. There was no kickplate. At the very beginning, I told the designer that I'm gonna be an old lady soon. I'm already 71. I wouldn't want to be bending over with a broom trying to clean the dust and the leaves that might go in from when I open the garage door. It was supposed to be perfectly sealed. They told me they didn't do it that way. Since the right and the left hand don’t talk to each other, it would be a good idea that the designers have some idea of what the installers consider and don’t consider. There should be no condescending statements like, “She doesn’t know what she's talking about. She's a designer.” That type of thing is not necessary.
Within 72 hours, I called Closet World and I told them I had some issues. For one, their people were supposed to be here by noon, 10:00 to 12:00, but they showed up around 12:35. They were here until after 7:00 at night. It was a long time. I also told them I didn't want the first guy that was here as I didn’t feel comfortable with him. They sent somebody else that was really great. He installed the last cabinet. They couldn’t do the platform, though. We walked and talked through it. I'm ending up with legs and a fascia board for a kickplate. They're coming to fix what didn’t get finished and I feel good about it now.

The most recent designer we worked with was a very delightful person but she was not very organized in terms of getting the designs and she messed up on the quote. I'm still having issues because the closets were installed differently than what I had envisioned. Last month, I went and talked to the installation department. The installation department was trying to charge me extra money to try and get the shelves replaced. They sent me to my designer and I have been communicating with her for over a month trying to get the shelves fixed. She said she was going to speak to her manager regarding fixing my issue. I worked with Joe and he worked really well. The closet looks good, but not great for $3,500. But the thing that threw me a curve ball was that I was under the impression that I could have on my side of the closet a shoe rack that would hold six shoes all the way across with no interruption and they couldn't do that. Joe explained to me that the way their shelves are made, they have to have a divider. So, I went with it and they did that. Now, I have three on one shelf and two on the other shelf next to it as opposed to six shoes all in one row. Joe made it all okay. He was good.

I am pleased with Closet World's product thus far. It seems pretty decent. Also, the representative that they sent out was amazing. But after that, it went downhill. There were several things that happened and I felt offended. When they first came to my house, the appointment was set for one day. I took off work but they canceled on the same day early in the morning. They reached my voicemail and I was like, “Oh, no. Are you guys really serious? Because now you're talking about a day’s worth of money?”
On top of that, when they came the next day - which was a Saturday, they either didn’t bring everything that they needed or it was damaged. They also didn’t finish the doors. One of them had a scratch on it. I was very upset because I had someone waiting to help me put the garage back together. It's a garage so you have to put things back where they belong. I called the same day that Closet World canceled and I spoke to my liaison, Shirley. She was a sweetheart and I love her. I told her that I was a little disappointed about the no-show. But I gave her my credit card number and I told her not to charge that credit card as I was gonna give them a different credit card. She called the office and they said that when the installers come out, they are supposed to take the credit card information or ask for a check.
They charged my credit card the other 50% even though the installers had not finished the work. That didn't make any sense. Why would they charge that credit card when I specifically asked them not to do that. I called Shirley and she was so kind. She tried to get to everybody as she could. The regional manager finally called me but he acted as if I was an inconvenience to him. He acted with an attitude. I told him about my experience and that what happened was not acceptable. I told him that he needed to reverse the money on my credit card because they shouldn’t have charged my credit card for 100% of the work when 100% of the work was not done. He said it wasn't a problem and asked for my credit card to reverse it. But that time, I left the card at home because I left it for their guys to receive payment because I wasn’t gonna be there. I told him that when I get home that night, I would call him.
I called him that same night even though it was late. I left a message on his voicemail too. I called this guy so many times. It was ridiculous to the point I had to call Shirley back again. I told her that she needed to give me somebody that I could talk to to get something done because the guy had just totally blown me off. Not only did he not call me back, he never debited those charges from my credit card. I had to call my credit card company and told them to put a hold on the funds because I didn't wanna be charged 18% interest on $2,000 when I had not gotten the work done. But they didn’t. I told them that they were in trouble with me because they did not back me up. They lost my business.
I pay thousands of dollars to my credit card and I did not want that kind of money on my credit card because it was too much interest. The regional manager didn’t care about that. I called him one more time and told him that I didn't want to go to people’s bosses but this was ridiculous. I asked why he was treating me that way. I asked for the name of his boss and within not even 24 hours, the VP had his secretary call me. I told him the same story. If this person who is the vice president took the time to have his secretary expeditiously call me back, there is absolutely zero excuses for this regional manager to have not called me back within these last several days. I even told him to email me and I left my contact information.
I actually called Closet World's competitor, Closet Factory and I asked them about their procedure. I was told that they take 50% down and once they come back, they take the other 50%. But if they did not finish the work, they only take 40% then charge the other part once the work is actually completed. That was fair.
I didn't have a good experience with Closet World and their protocol that they have by taking someone’s money and not have completed the work. They blow a person off when they're telling them, “Wait a minute now. You took all my money and you have not completed all of the work? You left an entire closet without a door, a face. And then this other one that you brought here, it was damaged, and I didn’t even realize it. And he had to replace that door too. So, how inconsiderate of you to charge me that kind of money and then don’t even dignify me with a phone call.”
Shirley is a great representation of the company and so was the VP because as he took care of business immediately. But the in-between people need to be reprimanded. Shirley was the only reason I didn’t completely cancel my order with Closet World. I could have told them to get the doors off and to get them out of my house. I will not use a person who does not even give me enough common courtesy that should be given to any person. It was very undignified the way they treated me. I will never refer anyone to Closet World.
In fact, they lost my business because I called Shirley back a couple of days later and told her that I was just looking at their website and I was gonna get some more doors. We had already talked about doing the second half of my garage before this problem ever happened because I was so happy with how my she took care of everything. She made the process seem so easy. And it should have been simple. It wasn’t even a humongous job because this is what Closet World does all the time. But I will not go back and use them again.

Closet World had a good promotion going on. I had two of my closets done in my place in Beverly Hills. It was very specifically organized to what we needed for the specific clothes, shoes and accessories that were going into those closets. The designer, Liz, was amazing and the best. She was very personable and knew what she was doing. She was super organized. I’m also very organized and she gave me some ideas that I hadn't originally thought of, and I welcomed that. She was easy to work with and was great across the board. The installation experience was also great and the installers were fantastic as well. It was a very easy transaction with Closet World.

I saw the ad of Closet World on the side of their truck and I just snapped a picture. Then my neighbor three doors down said he was very happy with the closets in his garage. He said that I should give Closet World a call and that's what I did. The designer I worked with was very courteous. And while he was good, my wife got a bit upset over the price. It was a little bit too high. Other than that, their wooden material is good and we're okay with the cabinet that I have in my garage.

The design process with Closet World was fine, but the execution is another story. A salesperson came out and we walked through our needs and designed the closets together. Two of the three closets were straight forward, but the third one was to be constructed in the space where there was an existing master bedroom closet that had to be deconstructed first.
There is a major disconnect between the sales process and the actual installation work. When the crew tore out the old closet, of course, there were all these unfinished millwork and evidence of things being torn out. There were areas where the old wood wasn’t painted but were not gonna be covered by the new closet system. It was a surprise to me when the crew told me that they don’t paint and patch where the old stuff was. I was under the impression I was gonna get a finished closet. The sales person did not address the millwork and other issues that would need to be taken care of, which I learned would be my responsibility. So, I had to bring in my painter and millwork guy to come in and essentially fix this.
I placed special orders for handles, but the installers arrived with completely different handles. I also had a jewelry drawer with the little acrylic jewelry slot which they didn’t put in. They also came in with two 36-inch drawers when I was supposed to have four 18-inch drawers. Every day I was telling them that what they were doing was not following the plan. Then the installer would look at the plan and say, “Oh, yeah. You’re right.” But he wasn't even looking at the plan.
With the closet in the laundry room, the installer said that the counter had to be raised above the existing baseboard. So, basically, it pushed the whole height of the bottom bank of cabinets up four inches. Instead of it being the standard 30-inch height, it ended up being 34 inches high. It is higher than what I like it to be. But we just decided we would leave it that way.

Closet World delivered a lovely bed on the 26th of December, and I was pleased for what they did at my house. There was some damage at the top of the Murphy bed, which they sent someone out to fix. But I’m waiting for them to send someone to replace the top portion and I haven’t heard from anybody. When you see that your product is damaged, don’t ignore it like you didn’t see it. Acknowledge it right there. I shouldn’t have to go in and then just discover it. I didn’t like that. Other than that, everything was okay. I dealt with Cheryl throughout the process ad she was very nice. I was pleased.

I used Closet World before for a large closet. I got them again to install two closets for a different home. They had the designer come out and took suggestions well. She was very professional and did a good job. I pretty much laid it out and they did a thorough job checking everything. They then scheduled the installation. There was a mess-up where they didn’t understand one of the cabinets, but they rectified that. It took us longer, but the finished product is very good. Initially, they wanna charge me more money, but then they thought about it and decided not to charge me. I was very happy with it. So I would use them again and I would recommend them.
It is very important that they have a lot of good communication between the designer and the people that come out and build the product because they’re not built in the factory. So it is very important that the designer have a little more thorough understanding of exactly what the process is. There can be a lack of communication that way between those two entities. It doesn’t seem like the designers really see the product or understand that they aren’t part of the process as much. But overall I was glad with my experience.

I got Closet World to install three walls of shelves and drawers in a closet. The designer was a very nice lady but she must’ve been new ‘cause it took 4 hours to do it. The installation was excellent and Eddie did a great job. He was professional and fast. However, the installation overlapped so part of the shelves and drawers are unusable. I spoke to the manager and he asked why they should come back and fix that when I already signed off on the original design. I told him that I signed off on the original design because I thought it would be functional. They wanted me to pay more for them to come back and fix it and I wasn’t nice in my response. Overall, it’s embarrassing for them and the service was awful.

I had a garage in Los Angeles that was done by Garage Envy. I called them, but they said that they were no longer in existence and that they've been bought out by Closet World, so I called Closet World. We did the garage with the slat boards, so I could hang all my tools and golf clubs. The Closet World designer came out and measured everything, and we installed the part.
I decided I wanted more, so I called him back out and he came out and measured the second time for an additional slat board, and we did it that way. He was very good with whether we should cover a certain area that was around the water heater. He told me that he wouldn't do that as it was too intricate. He also said I didn't need to do it. So, I took his advice. Even so, their installers were very good and clean and they swept up, so I was happy with them. I’ll use them again for sure. I was very pleased with my experience with Closet World. Somebody was at my house last weekend and they were admiring the garage. They asked me who did it and I told them I had it done by Closet World.

I've had closets done by Closet World five years ago and I was really happy with the layout. I always hear about them too. Recently, they did my master bedroom walk-in closet and then they did my daughter's closet as well. Their designer was amazing and she was really knowledgeable. She put a design for me and she told me what she could do based on the space and what would be the most maximized space. I gave her some ideas and she guided me through which was really helpful. But I wish the shelving that went in the closet would have been turned the other way, so I could look at it front facing versus side facing. It's hard to look at whatever I have stored there. Other than that, I liked the finished product.

I thought that Closet World was the company that I used in my house in Lockeford but it turned out that it wasn't. But when I talked to them, their sales rep was very nice and very good. Then, when it came to installation, my experience was terrible. They ripped up my walls, which still need to be repaired, and when they put in the closet stuff, the closet drawers themselves were backordered for three weeks. And it's been downhill from there.
I contacted them and they're aware of the problems. I want them to fix my wall board. I did one section and it's just too much work. I had to retexture and repaint, and that's just one section. The whole perimeter of the closet is damaged as well and it's a pretty big closet. They ripped out the boards that there were initially and I didn't know why they didn't trim them in.
They started with the installation a couple of months ago and I called the company after seeing the damage to the wall boards and to the walls themselves. And they said that was their best installer. But I told them that he wasn't. And when he came back, he said I did a good job on the one section I repaired. I showed him the others and when I asked him what he thought about them, he just shrugged his shoulders. Then, when he went back three weeks later to put the drawers in, the shelving was still up on top of the top ledge. When I asked him about it, he said that that wasn't theirs. But I told him it wasn't mine either. He ripped out my original standing shelving thing and there was no way that the one there belonged to me. So then, his assistant got in and pulled it up the top part and installed it.
So, it's been a really bad experience and I'm very dissatisfied. I wish I never hired Closet World. I also called the designer that was the subcontractor for them to let her know where I stand and she haven't responded to me. But they will when they don't get paid for $3,500 worth of work. I called my credit company and I'm disputing the charges.

I used Closet World several years back. At that time, they did a fantastic job. Then, I used them again around the 1st of December and was disappointed with their work. I had them refill shelves in an existing open closet and had the bathroom cabinet removed and replaced. On paper, everything looked good and I was impressed. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have signed up on it.
But in the bedroom closet area, I was anticipating that it was gonna be a platform that would be put under. Instead, it was just some pieces of particle board they put to substitute for the platform. They also made some holes in the wall that they didn’t fix. And I didn't like the way that they had anchored the closet. Then in the bathroom, I was thinking there would be an additional shelf that was supposed to go up, but there was not. I could not blame the installation team because I understand that they are working for the company. They had limited material that they brought out with them. However, I'm disgruntled with my experience with Closet World.

Closet World did two jobs for me and I was happy with them. However, I have a terrible experience in this third time that I'm working with them. The designer was fine and she's a very nice lady. A professional person also did the measurements. On the day of installation, I already had the closet so the doors were installed but everything is crooked. The building is old and built in 1956 so there might be some settlement and the building has probably offset. Still, the way the door came out is terrible and there is a one-inch gap at the top of the closet door versus the bottom. I've reached out to them but the installation manager hung up on me a couple of times. I also contacted the sales manager but he did not answer the phone. They’re not doing anything, so I’m putting this to dispute with my credit card.

We scheduled a date for Closet World to come, which was before Christmas. There was a three-hour window, but they kept me waiting for six hours and they didn’t even let me know. I had to reschedule my whole day for that. They finally showed up to do the closet, and apparently, they hadn’t measured right or brought the proper supplies, so they had to leave and told me that they were gonna come back the next day.
They said they were gonna be there first thing in the morning to get the closet done, so I called at 9:30 because they opened at 9:00 and they said that the workers were just gassing up the car and they were on their way. Six hours later, they were still not there. They didn’t show up at all. On the second day, I was waiting for six hours a second time and I had called at 9:30 that morning, as well as at 10:30, 11:00, and 12:00. By 2:30, I told them that I had to get out of the house and go. They didn’t come anyway. I asked what happened and they told me that they forgot.
Christmas was coming and I had guests coming, but there was no closet for them because Closet World already ripped off the old closet. We attempted the third time, which was after Christmas. It was for a Thursday and they called me on Wednesday and said that they were gonna see me on Friday. I told them that we scheduled for Thursday and that I couldn’t do it Friday. I have clients on Friday and I was not gonna reschedule and lose money again because I had two problems already. They said that they would come on Thursday and they did.
I thought they were gonna get to finally finish the closet after three times. One of the particular boards on the floor had cracked, but the worker didn’t have another one. They were supposed to put little pieces of wood at the very bottom, which hides stuff like where we keep the shoes. It was just a couple of inches and they didn’t have any of that. I told them that we were done, and I didn't sign the paper.
I’ve spoken to American Express and told them not to pay the other half. Closet World had received the half upfront and that it was all I was giving them. The job still isn’t finished. The closet is a workable closet, but there is one board that was cracked and there are also small pieces of wood that are missing at the bottom. I’ve used Closet World before and I’m a long-term customer. I did my master closet several years ago and I did a second closet a few years ago, and there was no problem. This time, however, I have a problem and never will I use them again.
We had two sliding closets installed in my second bedroom. It was the same color and it is some sort of a laminated particle wood that matched the other closet they had done to me in the past, which is why I used them again. The designer was very nice, but the people on the phone didn’t seem to care. There were no apologies. If you have a window of time, then you have a window of time. If they can’t honor that, then they need to change the policy. To this day, I still haven’t received an apology and they never even explained to me. It has been a horrible experience for a project that was supposed to take one day, which became three days and there was gonna be a fourth time as they need to finish the mistakes that are still there.
I got some information from some of the workers that were coming to the house. They had a 50% promotion in December, which was the month that I used them. However, they booked too many jobs and they didn’t have enough workers, so I got jilted. A lot of people probably wanted it to get done before Christmas, but Closet World didn’t have enough workers. The person at Closet World told me that they were giving me a discount because of all these hassles. I asked how much, but he would never tell me. I’ve already lost money. My guests didn’t have a closet to put things and I’m sitting here like an idiot for two days in a row for 12 hours. They sent a guy that had a flu and he was coughing all over. I asked him why didn’t they see that he had a flu. The guy said that he wanted to be at home, but Closet World sent him anyway because there was nobody else.
The workers also left a mess. They left pieces of wood all over the place. Also, they left the front door open at the building, but I have them the security code, even though it is illegal. I got some flak for that from my neighbors. The workers also left a mess in the elevator as well as in front of the building, and my neighbors were upset by that. One of my neighbors called Closet World because the workers left a piece of paper on the front bench of the building with my name on it that said, “Closet World.” I will never need to use them again if I replace the closet years from now. I won’t use them again because of the experiences that I’ve had.

It was too soon because we were moving and I wanted to get moved in to see what I actually needed. Then they came back out. We were negotiating price and it all worked out.
Everything went fine with the installation. The installer needed space and he wasn't told that I had a condo. He thought it was a home so he was a little put out. But we figured out a space for him to cut and saw. It was good. He did half of the hall closet in about three and a half hours and he was good. He was by himself too. A couple of months ago, I started working with another property and the designer was okay and was very patient. We had a deal and they came three times, however, the designer didn't measure a cabinet for the washer and the dryer. She said that the washer and dryer were put in the closet, not on the floor in the cabinet, so she made the 34 inches. But the installer who came over said, “No, you cannot put it on the boards. You have put it on the floor.” They did that work, but it ended up the closet only had 30 inches. The depth is 29.5, so it was very tight.
If they do it that way, they should add another 4 inches more or at least 2 inches more, but they didn't. They said, “Okay, I’ll just grease everything in.” I need the 4 inches in the back but because of the way they built in the front, I lost the 2 inches, and the way that they put boards on the backside, that was another 3 inches. They could not put in the regular vent, so they put the one nobody recommended.
One thing good with Closet World is they listen to me whenever I have an issue. However, I had to fight with them. They said that their product was cheaper, but I had to pay more. I tried to talk to the manager and I called the company, but nobody would talk to me. Finally, the supervisor called me, but it took me a long time. He said that he could give me all the carousels for free, but I had to pay for somebody to install. It ended up I paid another $75, which I think was not fair at all, but there was nothing I could do about the experience. They should do a better job, although they've done better than six years ago because now, the installer works for their company. Before, I had a very bad experience. My wife, who was overseeing it, was exhausted at the end and she thought that what she had been told by the designer was gonna be what the design was. So she didn't even review the final papers after the nine hours and signed them. However, the designer missed two key aspects of the design. We didn't know that until we moved in and saw the closets and the issues.

We ordered multiple Closet World units to be installed in our new home. Based on our experience, I would NEVER recommend Closet World to anyone. Here are a few of our problems: The closets are crooked! The drawers do not open because they do not know how to install their own products. We have one light switch cut-out that looks like a Beaver chewed out the hole. The Installer used a chisel to cut the hole and left an opening that is 6 inches too big! They hung a cabinet that is crooked on the wall - 1" lower on the right side than on the left! That is a lot for a 36" wide cabinet. They sent only one Installer - I had to help him lift parts so he could screw them into the wall. I was not available for the whole install (3 days - 10 hours a day) so that explains a lot of the shoddy installs. They cut the baseboard on some walls (proper method) but left it on other walls! This results in the back wallboard being at a slant.
They left a bunch of random woodcuts in one of the closets. The Installer said his boss thought that would compensate for doing a lousy job. I learned during the 36 hour install process that they pay their Installers (yes, installers) on a commission basis. This means that the faster and crappier they can install a job, the more the installer gets paid. Shortcuts are encouraged. I have NEVER received a return call from their Customer Service people: They offer no phone number. Their chief installer is someone called ALBERT - he refused to talk to me. His 19 year old Installer had to be the go between on the phone. I demanded that the Installer call his boss so I could talk to a live person. When ALBERT answered the phone, he told the Installer he would have to leave our house and never return if he handed his phone over to me.
I felt bad for the kid who Installed our closet. Because he was under pressure to finish our job quickly without concern for quality, I made sure he was fed and had fluids. It was 90 degrees plus in Ojai and the kid had no provisions. He said it cost him money to eat or stop, so he just kept working. I called Closet World for an estimate on a closet and that was what I started with. But my fiancée had been wanting me to put cabinets in the garage for a long time so while they were here, I got an estimate on the garage cabinets as well. Then I told them to go ahead and do it. Before I talked to anybody of them, I had looked at what I thought would be our best situation and I had laid up plans. When the designer came out, she made a couple of suggestions but they were more about lowering our cost. She also asked more about stuff like colors. But I already had drawings of what I was looking for. She did calculations too and said what I had would give the maximum rod coverage for hanging clothes and get the most in there. So we went with that. They put in new areas to hang clothes and an organizer in the master bedroom closet.
Then for the outside garage, I had also already measured it and laid something out. The suggestion she had was that after a certain length, she changed some of the sizes. There are three 48-inch cabinets and one 30-inch cabinet. So it was just about the sizes of the cabinets to get the max of the wall use and we worked on that. She also suggested putting a few more cabinets over the washer and dryer. But I told her I wanted to wait and see how everything else went before I did the rest of the garage and do the whole wall, which was about $2,800. But I had a 50% coupon and they deducted that.
The designer was nice and very good. She seemed like she was trying to lay out the best situation possible for what I wanted and listened to me. In fact, the designer seemed very professional and knew what she's doing. But I didn't research Closet World. I got the closet and it was under $1,000. I kind of knew in my head what it was gonna cost and she was within price. The product they had was good. But usually, I would have done Yelp.
I did do Yelp but it was after I made the purchase and I was scared to death. There were some awful things in their Yelp reviews and because I read those reviews, I was on guard. I noticed they charged me for the final amount before everything got installed. So I called up and the representative said they made a mistake. She apologized and said that she would reverse it, and she did. She reversed it right away. Some of the bad Yelp reviews I read seemed to be about the salesperson not explaining things correctly and maybe trying to add more stuff than they should have. But in my experience, they did everything they said they were gonna do.
Everybody was professional and they did a good job. The quality of the cabinets is good too. Before the installation in the garage, I had cleaned it out and painted it. Then when the installation team came out, they did all the measuring and cutting and they put everything in. They cleaned up and everything worked fine when they left. Also, after I had the closets put in, I wanted to get a few more shelves so I called up and they were very helpful. I talked to the manager at the San Marcos store and he gave me some special pricing on the shelves and ordered them. Then I went and picked them up. So he was good about that too. I didn't have any problems with that. I put the shelves in myself and it was not a big deal.

Then, we all agreed to the final design and then scheduled the install for a couple of weeks after.
However, the installation experience was not amazing. Someone was supposed to come between 9:00 and 10:00 on the day of installation. What ended up happening was the installer who was assigned to me was no-show that day. The communication was really bad. So, they strung me along throughout the day. The Closet World salesperson came out right away and was very thorough, and their price was better than the other companies. I had them do a master walk-in closet and I got the hanging stuff and drawers and bench and hampers. The designer that I worked with was nice. However, it was not easy getting a hold of Closet World after I pulled the trigger. I had to go through their main office and deal with the installers, so they didn’t really talk. The installer and the designer didn’t ever meet and didn't go over with what I was told and what they were trying to install. I asked if they had a meeting with the designer and they said no and that they can figure it out from the drawings. They finally finished it after about two months and it was terrible.
During the initial installation, they didn’t have all the materials and they didn't know what they were installing in a couple of occasions. Some of the materials were wrong. The guy just left and he wanted me to sign paperwork. Nothing was done or correct and I said that I wasn't signing the paperwork, and he just shrugged his shoulders and left. I talked to the dispatch manager who was a really nice guy and he came out and met with me. I took another part of the day off from work and went through it with them. He was supposed to meet me for another meeting with his installer, but nobody showed, so it was another day they missed me.
I met with the branch manager who was a really great guy also and he got everything ordered, except a bunch of stuff didn’t show. He said that he was gonna meet the installer out there next time and that he would personally drive back and forth from the shop to keep making different parts until they get my closet done. They did that and they tore out the crown molding, the base, and one of the hamper doors that was drilled wrong. It was a bunch of stuff they had to do, but, in the end, when they finally finished, it was decent. I just wish they would have been able to do that in the very first time they came out. I've had clothes lying all over my house for two months. I wouldn’t recommend them.

Closet World was offering a discount and I got them to install a home office. My interaction with the designer was good. However, the installation was rushed and we had problems with the product three times.

I found Closet World in a flyer in my mail, and though looked into another closet company, Closet World's design was good and so was their price. Our designer was Linda and her presentation, being on time and response to questions stood out. Her customer service was good and she worked with us for our needs and the budget that we had.
We decided to put a walk-in closet and it has been working fine. We're still accommodating stuff, but so far so good. The closet uses the space that we had, so we're happy with it. The installer came in and installed the closet the day they told me. He did the installation in 2 hours and 10 minutes. However, we're not very tall people and the belt sliding rack was placed a little too high. My husband said that he can just move it, so I'm waiting for him to finish that. If he doesn’t do it by the end of this week, I'll call Closet World to have someone come back. Other than that, my experience with Closet World was good. They also gave us a good special that they had and offered a promotion. We took advantage of that and that worked out fine.

Closet World was referred by my neighbor and I like their price. The designer was great, but the installation experience was horrendous. We did four closets and they gave me drawers that were defective. The shelf top was also defective and was not cut right. They left a mess on my driveway. I tried calling to get replacements, but the installation manager kept avoiding my calls. By the time I reached back out to the salesperson, I got a call the next business day from the installation manager. I spoke to the installation manager the day after the first install and he said he would have the parts ordered and it should be in about a week at the most.
After that, I didn’t hear from him for a week and a half. I tried to get a hold of him, but I couldn’t. I called the salesperson and I got a call from the installation manager and found out that nothing was ordered. The manager said that he placed the order and he scheduled me for about a week out again. The second installer came out and brought the updated drawers, but they did not have a top. He gouged my wall in my staircase and when he was installing the shelf, he broke part of the shelf. I still have yet to hear a resolution or to hear from this manager. I am beyond upset at this point and I don’t know what to do.

We had Closet World install white closets in the garage. The designer was explained everything and the installation team was very polite. After installation, they cleaned everything and they polished the closets.

On October 10th I had my custom closet installed which had already been measured and designed by a senior designer. The closet is a small closet in a bedroom. After installation I told the installer I did not think the pull out drawers would clear once I installed sliding doors. He said it might be a tight fit. One of the supervisors called me to follow up. I again told him I did not think the drawers would be able to open, he said, "I'm sure it's fine. Just call me once the sliding doors are installed and if it did not open then we could move the unit or make the drawers smaller for a fee!" I asked, "Why would the customer have to pay for the company's mistake?" He quickly said not to worry and we'll talk about it after the doors were installed.
Weeks later the doors were installed by a different company and just as I thought the drawers did not open because the sliding doors were now in the way. I called. Spoke to a different supervisor. Explained the situation again. He said, "Ok I'll send you a quote," I said "wait are you charging me?" He said, "Yes of course." If he has to redo the design I have to pay. I told him it was clearly their mistake and why would a customer have to pay??? He replied "well if you would have had the sliding doors installed first this would have not happened!" Wow so he clearly thought this was my mistake. He also said maybe I should talk to the designer maybe she measured incorrectly. He emailed the quote trying to charge me another $300 aside from the $2,000.00 I had already paid for the installation. I did not feel good about this so I decided to call the next day and speak to district manager.
He said "well I will give you a good price but I have to charge you something someone has to pay for the installers to go back to your house and redo the work." Unbelievable. I was so upset and could not believe the poor unprofessional treatment I was getting from this company, I had been a returning customer but never had I been treated this way. I decided to go to the next level. I spoke to the vice president of the company. I again explained my situation for the 4th time and he asked if I could measure a section of the closet and what did the actual plans have on it they clearly did not match, he immediately apologized and said it was clearly their mistake and someone would call me the same day to fix the problem.
He was the first person to apologize. I thought finally I could not believe why two supervisors and the district manager could not have done the same. Two weeks later the installer came back out and fixed their mistake. The first installer did not follow the measurements the designer had written. This created the problem. Closet World supervisors and manager I hope you learn from this experience and listen to your customers after all we pay you to measure and install, maybe customer satisfaction should be at the top of your priority list instead of just making money. I definitely will not be a returning customer nor will I ever refer anyone to your company again. Very disappointed former customer.

About 14 years ago, I had Closet World do some work for me and they did a good job then, so I called them again to install my drawers, cabinet doors and organizers. Their designer was very courteous and friendly. The installers were all friendly too. The first installer struggled a little bit, so we requested for a more experienced one. Thereafter, Closet World sent us an experienced installer and he took care of all of the stuff we needed. All in all, we’re 100% satisfied with this company.

I had closet shelves installed by Closet World. Their designer came and offered details which my wife had agreed to. It was followed by a phone call with their competent reps where we negotiated the price and did the estimate of the time when the product would arrive and be installed. The installation person was fine and the materials were installed as specified in the drawing plan. There was one hiccup though where he could not have sufficient material to cover up the backing, and I had to make several phone calls in order to get that installed. And even though they had scheduling issues, it was done eventually. Closet World is a very large company who subcontracts with a number of people, who may or may not be competent, but still are able to complete the job.

We installed 12-foot, garage-type cabinets through Closet World. They seemed to be a very reputable company and my representative, Robert, was wonderful. He has worked for the company for a long time. He was very knowledgeable and pleasant. He was able to give me a price and the design on the spot, and it wasn't a lot of mosh and tosh bother. Also, the installation team was very efficient. They came one day and tore some old cabinets out, and then they came the next day and put in all the new cabinets. And then the third day, early in the morning, they came to build the custom cabinets around the hot water heater. I have recommended Closet World to several neighbors.

We were looking at The Container Store and we got a comparable quote for the same type of stuff. Closet World was a hair more expensive, but we went with them because of their better availability and the person that we met with. We did double hanging frames on top of each other for our personal bedroom closet. We installed multiple boxes with hanging rods for the most part, and then one larger box that had shelves. That gave us some more space and then the top level with the shelf, so I could put shoes on top. Closet World's designer was straightforward. She didn't do anything except her job and she didn't try to oversell or undersell anything. The installation team did what they did in one visit. Our closet is organized and neat. We have maximized a medium space as much as we can.

I researched the closet companies that were available in this area, and Closet World was one of three. We looked at ratings and reviews that other customers have given, we also got to deal with them all three, and then we decided on using Closet World based on the design, the price and presentation by the salesperson, Malia. We liked her demeanor and she answered questions as well as follow-up questions.
We had a walk-in closet installed and the design was perfect. However, Closet World messed up on the jewelry tray that my wife had ordered. It didn’t arrive with the rest of the closet on the installation date. I asked them about it and I was told that they ordered it and it will be delivered in about two weeks. But it was at least three months from the original meeting to the installation date, so they had all that time to get that in. I think they forgot to order it and they just ordered it at that point. And then instead of owning it and apologizing, the guy I spoke with tried to make excuses saying that since it’s a custom-design, it takes longer.
Then after the first guy who did the installation was gone, I did a close inspection of the closet. I looked at the shelves and I noticed that the pins were put in haphazardly. Some of them were flat, some of them were sideways and some of them were round. Some on one corner might be on the flat side, the other one would be on the round side so then, it was making it uneven. I would have put them in flat-side-up, so I went through every shelf and re-did it myself. Plus, there was dust inside the drawers like they’ve been sitting in the warehouse and they weren’t wiped down. I asked them about it later on and the lady said that they should be clean and wiped down when I got them. There were also shelves that had some glue residue on them so I cleaned those up myself, too.
Also, I noticed that one of the jewelry shelf's handles was not parallel. I took a closer look at it and one side slipped off the screw. It turned out that one of the screws on the handle was overtightened and stripped out. Having some experience with mechanical stuff, I know that if you stripped a screw out you know it right away it won’t tighten up. So, another guy came out in a day or two after I reported it and had to replace the handle. We were not happy with the installation because of those things but we’ve been happy with the assistance so far. And now, once the dust has settled and everything was corrected, we’re really happy.

I live in a senior place. A lot of other people got their closets from Closet World and all the ones I've seen here are wonderful. Then Closet World had a sale so I decided and everybody was wonderful. The designer was lovely. She was very new. She had only been in her job for six weeks but she represented the company very well. She certainly knew a lot about the product and she helped me very much to get the design right.
The installers were very nice too. It didn’t take them too long to do the job. The only thing is when my daughter came and we put the clothes back in, we found out that the top bar should’ve been higher. Somehow, the measurements got wrong. The designer told my daughter that she thinks she made a mistake. Closet World said they would come back but it’s been a couple of weeks and they haven’t come back. I'm just waiting for them and I hope it won’t be until after Thanksgiving is over. I’ll be happy when it’s all finished. But still, it was a good and pleasant experience.
