I got Closet World to install a white closet in my daughter's room. Their designer was extremely friendly and very nice. And when their installer arrived, he was on time and he also made sure to wipe his feet off because it was raining outside.

We’ve done work with Closet World in the past. They had built a closet for us. Alex, the designer, did a good job on our recent project. He laid it out methodically. It’s a little bit heavier and I just liked it. One guy came out and did the installation. He was in and out, and left things clean. He did a good job. Overall, the roll-out’s a little bit lighter than I thought they’d be but we haven’t even used it yet. We’re in the middle of a remodel. But it's pretty much what we ordered. It’s as good as it can be and what we’ve signed up for.

Closet World installed cabinets for us in 2007 so when one cabinet started pulling away from the wall, I called them to come and repair it. When I called the office, the rep said the supervisor was going to call me within a day or two which is exactly what he did. He's the one that made the appointment and they stuck to it. The installers were out within about a week to fix it.
The closet was in the laundry room and it was a large cabinet that was over the washer and dryer. The installers almost put a whole new cabinet up. They pulled it off the wall and reinforced it again and put it back up with stronger hinges. They were very personable and professional and they even managed to work around my pugs that kept getting in their way. They did the job right because they were here for about an hour and a half and afterwards, I didn’t need any follow up appointments. I'm extremely happy with the work they've done.
Also, the cabinets that they did have held up very well. The cabinet they recently fixed was in for 10 years before I had an issue with it. The rest of the cabinets are out in the garage and so far they're holding up very well. I also like the designs that they have now which are even better than the designs that I got 10 years ago. So if I ever have to do closets again, I would more than likely call them back and would seriously consider using them again as opposed to somebody else.

We got three estimates from Closet World and we had them install the closet's water wall unit for a baby nursery. The designer came into our home and was really nice. She designed our closet and helped us through the process of getting approved. The installation was really good and the guy cleaned up nicely after himself and was very helpful. He's very apologetic too for being late. The only complaint we had was that when we open the drawers, it's a little loose. My husband tightened it a few times already. I called and asked if there is like something we could do to fix that or they could change the railing but no one's called me back yet. Overall, it was easy and they are very friendly.

We went to Costco before and we wanted to go with another closet company, but they did not respond. We initially got to know Closet World when they sent us their coupons. This is our third time using Closet World and it's been pretty good experiences so far. Their closet designer was very nice and really fun to work with. Their installers were very good too. They came and did a good job. They also explained everything and cleaned up after themselves. We had them installed two closets this time, one for my husband and one for myself, and then the garage cabinet.

We had Closet World install a bedroom closet system. We called someone else initially and they couldn’t start as soon as we wanted the work to be done so we called Closet World and they were able to do it in a very timely manner. The Closet World designer is very personable and knowledgeable. She was able to draw something for us on the spot. We loved the designer so much we're actually bringing her back to do another room. She’s coming on Thursday to draw and design for us. Also, the installation went smoothly. A guy came to install the closet and he had all the equipments he needed with him. He never had to leave to get anything and he installed it within a couple of hours and we were all set.

The person who came out, measured and designed the closet didn't do a totally good job because she didn't realize what the buildout would need to be and what it would entail. So, I had to hold off on the project for about a year and had the closet installed. Also, we weren't able to install all five as planned so we only got three storage closet units. Nevertheless, I'm satisfied and the installers were great.

The designer from Closet World was nice and totally friendly but the installers were a little bit late. They came around late afternoon and stayed ‘til dinner time. They did the work and when they told me it was done, I went out to look at it but it didn't look right. That’s why we’re doing this reinstall. There was a huge gap on the top of the cabinets, which made it look like I had bought these cabinets at Home Depot, which we have already done before. We wanted a little bit more custom look on the inside of our home and decided we weren't going to Home Depot.
The installers are coming back next Monday to redo it. They were supposed to come last Friday, but they called early in the morning and said that the doors were not drilled properly. This is now going to be the third time that they’re supposed to come over. This project’s been in the making since December. It’s been three months now and it’s not done. It's very disappointing but I'm not completely dissatisfied.

We chose Closet World for their price. We got three estimates from different suppliers and their estimate for my walk-in closet installation was the best. The designer that we worked with was good. During installation, I just let them in and they did it all. They were productive and cleaned up after themselves.

A buddy of mine used Closet World at his house. Then I saw an ad in the paper and it said 50% off and no installation fee. I wasn’t going to do it right then, but I figured I might as well do it while they are doing the sale. I made the call and then scheduled an appointment. Their designer came over. She was very nice and polite. After we did everything and she measured everything, I had to have her come back over because there was one discrepancy that I had. So, we took care of it. Then I was worried about another cabinet, and I said, “I don’t think this is gonna work the way that you're telling me it's gonna work because it's gonna put this thing out way too far, and it's not gonna look right.” She said, “All our installers do this stuff all the time. They know what they're doing and it'll be fine.”
My father-in-law also has the same cabinets and he said, “You need to get the legs with them, just in case you put heavier stuff on them.” So I phoned the designer up and said, “I really like to get that cabinet changed. I don’t like the way it is.” She said it's too late. I can't change the cabinet for it's already being made. Then she told me that they don’t have legs for these cabinets. I told her that my father-in-law got them and she still said that they don’t have them.
The day the installers came over, Adrian, the guy that works for Closet World phoned me to let me know that the installers would arrive in an hour, and I explained to him my concerns. He said, “When the installers get there, have them take a look at it and we'll see what we can do.” I also phoned him and I let him know what was going on when the installers got there. The installer said, “This will not work. You're completely right. But I can deal with it right now, and I can cut the cabinet down to where it will work. Then we'll just have to order the right size doors.” I was very happy. The girl told me there was no way that it could be changed or done, but the installer said, “No big deal.” I have never heard from the girl again. Perhaps I pissed her off because we were haggling back and forth on the price, but there was never anything rude and we never got any arguments. She didn't follow up with me.
Now, I'm trying to get the legs put in. The guy gave me a price for the legs, which is no big deal. The installer came over and he measured everything for the legs. We love the cabinets and the closet. We did the bedroom closet and the pantry. Then we did a bunch of cabinets in the garage. We're really happy with the installers and I'm with Adrian. He's a great guy. He was good at what he did. Overall, I'd recommend Closet World but not for the follow-up part. Nobody’s phoned up to see how we like the work or if everything was okay.

We had the quickest response from Closet World and so decided to go with them. Their designer was knowledgeable and she really took the time to plan out the closet for us. She was very good as well as the installation. Our overall experience with them has been good. Everything worked out great.

The turnaround time was a major factor in choosing Closet World. I got two estimates and they were reasonable. I purchased shelves and hanger rods, and I had them installed in the master closet. The designer originally came out and did the drawing. She did one design but we made changes to it. Then, she did another design and we agreed to go with that. The installer was there before I left to work and did the job for a few hours while I was at work. His work area was left good but the only thing he didn't do was vacuuming, and there was some dust left behind. Other than that, everything was good.

Closet World did a great job installing and preparing the closet but the product is not worth the money.
Reviewed March 28, 2017
Our experience with Closet World was not great. We had used them in the past to do all of our closets in the garage when we bought the house. Their designer screwed up when they measured out so they had to reorder cabinets, which means we had to wait longer. The installation was shoddy, too. So, while we were waiting for the replacement cabinets to come in, the other ones were literally falling apart on the wall. Also, the installers left the tools behind and the screws on the floor. The supervisor called back because I had done a negative review for their internal survey. He defended his guys and said, "No. They don't use those kinds of screws." And I told him, "Well, I'm looking at them on the floor." Considering it's in a garage, that's not good if we run over them.
They made three trips altogether. We had one of those “just go with it” because we were tired and we had to have it done. The product can be good if they installed it right but the guys we had couldn't make any adjustments if they needed to do anything. I even had to tell them how to install something. We were happy with them before but not any longer. We're not gonna use them again and we're dissatisfied with Closet World.

Closet World seemed to have what I wanted so I went with them. I had some closets put in the master bedroom and some laundry room shelves built in a laundry room upstairs. The designer came to our house and I told her what I wanted. We looked at everything and decided what we wanted and what we were going to do. The folks came for the installation and it took them two days. They installed the products and stayed on the second day until it was done the way that I wanted. In case there was any other mistakes or anything, they took care of everything. I would recommend them.

I was trying to stay within my budget and Closet World was within that so I went with them. I got a basic, plain walk-in closet and it was good. But one of the doors has a scratch on it and the installer was trying to fix it with a chalk. So now, it created a black mark on my closet door. It's all the way to the top and if I got to the closet, I see it right there and it irritates me. I sent him an email with pictures and he said if I want to get it fixed. I don't know what that means. He should come back and fix it. So, I'll have to call him back, talk to him about it and see what they can do. But other than that, I'm happy with the closet. It was a minor problem that I need to get fixed. I would recommend Closet World.

My sister got a closet done with Closet World and she liked the experience, so I went ahead and got it with them, too. They did a full closet installation for a bedroom and a guest bedroom in my house. The Closet World designer explained everything to us and told us our options. She was very pleasant and very knowledgeable. The installers were also really nice. They were extremely friendly and respectful.
We did have a bit of a mishap though, but it's understandable. We needed one of the divisions for long hanging and we were gonna have drawers in the bottom. We wanted to hang jeans and showed her a pair of our longest jeans including the hanger so that she can measure it and see how much more space we would have to have the drawers. The drawers ended up being higher than what we needed them to be. So, we had to rearrange things to try to find a more equipped space for the jeans. We don’t have that many jeans and that partition specifically was gonna be a smaller width. Now we had to divide another area that was supposed to be for shirts, which we have a lot more, to be able to hang the jeans since those sections are more adjustable than the ones with the drawers.
Also, the installers accidentally punched a hole in my wall which we had to repair. And there are black scratches on one area and we tried to clean them off but they don’t come off. The scratches are pretty bad. The closets don’t look finished and clean. It's very rough underneath where all the drawers are. There are little pieces of wood sticking out specifically from the bottom. They had to put a leveler underneath it, but I could see little jagged edges and pieces of wood that don’t even match the closet.
I've spoken to someone from Closet World and they're supposed to come back to try to fix some of these issues, but we haven’t had the time to have them come back. Though I am not completely happy with the work, I would still recommend Closet World to a friend because the closet is still very functional. And everybody has been friendly and more than willing to help and fix the issue, so I'm happy about the customer service. Everyone had been very gracious and very professional. I like the people including the designers and even the installers. It's just unfortunately things aren't exactly the way I pictured them.

I went with Closet World for the really quick response time of the representatives getting back and the availability of the schedule. Also, the frequent advertisements put their name out there towards the front of everybody's memory. The designer's expertise was helpful and there were some value-added types of suggestions that were helpful and beneficial in the end. The installation was on time and properly completed. Took longer than anticipated because the designer actually forgot to account for one existing condition during their initial assessment, but it wasn't anything that the installer couldn't deal with. It was fine and anticipated for by the installer but lengthened the installation by a couple of hours. The installer was accommodating, dealt with the surprise, and it wasn't a huge deal. It was overall, a very satisfactory install and I'd recommend Closet World.

The Closet World designer was really nice and the installer was great. He was polite and I had him install two closets. However, he didn't install what I wanted because he didn't read the certain thing that the manufacturer meant and he didn't hear the measurements. He would have had to cut the measurements down a little bit. I wanted them smaller from the top down. They then called me immediately and were willing to come back out and take care of the issue. But by that time, I didn't want the hassle and I can deal with them. Other than that, everything went well and I'm content with what I got.

I got quotes from Closet World and California Closets and it seemed like it was about the same value worth for what you get. However, there was a significant difference in the price between them, so I went with Closet World. Also, they were really fast. Their turnaround from designs to install was barely two weeks. California Closets would take almost a two-month time before they could do the installation. I had Closet World install a walk-in closet in my master bedroom. The Closet World designer was very nice and helpful. She was very knowledgeable and had been in the business a long time even before she joined Closet World. So, she was very much a pleasure to work with. I had drawn up one contract with her and ended up canceling it so that I could do some more research. And then I came back and used her as my same designer in the long run and drew up a new kind of design and contract with her. It was totally awesome.
The first installation went very well. They slightly fudged one part of it. We updated to do slow-closing drawers, and that installer didn't put those in the first day. Unfortunately, I didn't try to use the doors or drawers and he already had left. So, then I reached out that same night back to Closet World. They picked up immediately and let me know that I really had to talk to the install supervisor. I was able to talk to him the next day. He called me. He was not the most pleasant person about it. He more or less accused me of not having paid for the upgrade. He said that there was no box checked for the slow-closing drawers-sliders and told me that he needed to talk to my designer before he could approve sending someone out to change it. Then he never even called me back.
Two days later, I ended up making some review online, and then I finally got someone to call me and tell me that they would immediately send out an additional installer to switch out for the tracks and agreed with me that I had paid for that. All in all, the installation guys that came out here were totally great and really nice. It was the supervisor that was a little bit of a prick. Now, everything is as I ordered it, and I ended up with what I wanted.

I used Closet World when I lived in Santa Clarita. Their salesperson was very sweet and helpful, and I like the way she handled things, asking me "Have you thought about this and what about that?" And telling me, "Don't forget this." We had an office in our house and we have a lot of collector's books, so we had one wall done for that and then a storage underneath those. And then another side for two desks and cabinets. Their installers did what they were supposed to do, and they showed up the next day and finished. Overall, I'm very happy. And I would recommend them to a friend.

I had a closet installed by Closet World in our garage. Their product was of high quality and about the same price as those of other closet companies. Moreover, they had a 50% off deal which made the price worth it. The sales part was good and the lady rep was really nice. But the installation was a little harder. They scheduled a delivery day that I had to reschedule. Then they called me the day before the first delivery date, and I said I already rescheduled that. Then they were supposed to come one day, but they ended up being late. Worse yet, they never called until I called them, and they said, "Oh. We're running late."
They got there at 6:00 at night, but I told them that they cannot stay until 8 PM as I was leaving to go somewhere. So, we had to reschedule the delivery date again. That was a pain and they weren't very easy to deal with on that. I told them, "All you have to do is call and tell me you're going to be late." But apart from this, everything else was good. The guys who installed the closet were great. They came in and put the closet in, and everything's working and looking nice. They also cleaned up after themselves.

She walked us through the closets. The installation guy arrived on time and finished it on time. It was really smooth. We used Closet World before. I called a few different places for a quote and to see the timeline and Closet World's timeline fit into what we needed, so we used them again. This time, we had a reach-in closet installed in one of our Division Chief’s office. The process of getting things started up until the installation went fine. First, I went online and somebody contacted me and asked me what I was looking for. They sent somebody in to get some dimensions and to check out the office space. They had switched offices so our Division Chief was wanting the same kind of reach-in that he had in his other office. So, we just mirrored what he had in there and then picked the color that we wanted. There were only a couple of colors to choose from so we went with what matched the best in his office. The process went very clear. I told the designer the days that we were hoping to get it done and they went with one of those days.
The only thing is that, we paid half of it upfront on our credit card and then we had to pay the additional amount when they had left. We had to wait until they went back to the office for them to give us a receipt. I wish we could have gotten that once the work was completed and before they left. Other than that, everything went really well.

We talked with their designer while she was here and then we emailed a little bit to make sure we were okay with the things that we chose. However, our installation experience was not the best.
There was a note in the file to schedule installation for the morning, but then I received a call the day before telling me it was in the afternoon. They then saw the note but they couldn’t do anything about it at that point. I also asked for a thirty-minute notice, but they just called and told me that they were here at my door. One thing though that they didn't tell me was that they were going to charge me an extra $50 that I had to pay in cash at the time of installation to haul away the old closet bars and wood. I needed multiple closets done for 2 bedrooms and Closet World was having a 50% off sale. I liked their designer, but as it turns out, she didn’t know what she was doing. She wasn’t even there any longer by the time they did the first installation, which they had to do a second time because the closets were ordered wrong. After complaining and back and forth and round and round, they finally sent an installer out who explained what happened. The designer ordered the closets wrong and she didn’t tell me that there were other options. I put my faith in the “designer” but it didn’t work out too well. So then they charged me more money and it took three months before I finally got the closets.
I would have liked a professional to come to my home, which I thought was what was happening, measure properly and give me the options that were available to me, and the installation be done properly the first time. Also, I would have liked to have not had to argue for about three weeks with the manager or whoever was over there, telling me that I got what I paid for, and then charging me more because the product I needed was larger. I thought I was getting what I wanted based on the input I gave the designer. Apparently, the shelves come in 12, 16, 18 and 24-inch sizes. The 12-inch is the go-to one and that’s what she gave me. So I had a big old closet with little, teeny tiny shelves in it. It wasn’t a good experience at all.

I've used Closet World off and on for many years. In fact recently, I had them install a closet in my son's condo. Their designer met me at the place and I explained to her exactly what I wanted. It is almost a duplicate of what I had done before. I did not really use her design service much because I already knew what I wanted. She made a suggestion here and there and then just wrote it up and drew it up. I'm perfectly happy with the completed product.

The guys who installed everything were super nice and did it on a timely manner. I like the product and everything looks nice. However, when Karen from Closet World came over and looked, she was nice but pretty much pressured me that I had to do this today because tomorrow 50% free installation goes away. A week later, I got the same ad in the mail. It’s probably my fault for not doing a research first.
Unless Closet World can give me a refund which I doubt will happen, I’ll probably never refer anybody to them. I got a whole garage set up and I got two closets which weren’t really big but I spent about $8,600 on everything. If it wasn’t 50% off I would’ve been billed $17,000. And that’s hard for me to even believe that this is $17,000 worth of anything. And in doing more research, it’s cheaper everywhere else. I was also told by the contractor who came in to do the plumbing and the electrical that he could’ve drove to Closet World, bought all the stuff and installed it for $3500. And so, I feel I got ripped off big time.
Closet World has been in business for 30 years so something must be going right. But after knowing that somebody could’ve went and picked it up at Closet World and I could’ve got the exact same thing and paid them a little bit of labor money and filled in under the budget, then that would’ve been better. So, after the fact, I was kinda bummed. I tried to talk to the management and the upper supervisors, and everyone I talked to just started working there. So, I feel bad harking at some girl that’s worked there for two weeks and doesn’t even know front from back. And I've never got a call back and so I’m just washing my hands off it. It’s a lesson learned.

We have found Closet World through a weekly advertisement. We called and they sent a designer out. Gino showed up on time and spent two hours drawing up what we wanted. I gave him a set of drawings that I did earlier with the shape and the sizes of the compartment that we wanted on the shelves. He went in with his own drawings and we asked for certain things. He gave me a rough estimate of what he thought it was going to cost. He had some questions to ask his manager and would call me back the next day with an installation date and the final cost.
But the next day came by and I never heard from Gino. It was the same for the day that followed. The third day went by. I called the designer in the morning 'cause he left his personal cell number that he used for work, but I went to voicemail. The same thing went on to the 5th day. I ended calling Closet World and asked what was going on with Gino. They told me he dropped off my paperwork but and they haven't heard from him since. I told them I really wanted to get the work done so they set up another lady who came on out two days later. She redid everything again like Gino had done. I had to do my own measurements because I was responsible for what got installed. While she drew this thing all up, she said that her management would want her to call the manager when she was all done. The manager said that they would try to make it right for us because of what happened. They cut off $200 of $750 which was really nice.
They then scheduled for someone to come out and we settled on a Friday 'cause my wife and I were going to be out on vacation. We would come home a day early so they could install the closet. They were supposed to be out that Friday morning about 10:00, but I got a phone call from them saying that a couple of their installers had gotten sick. Instead, the installers would be there later that day at around 4:00. Stuff happen and I understood. But at 3:00, the install manager called and said that the guys won't be able to make it. They were so far behind and they had to reschedule.
I told them that didn't work too well for me because I'm self-employed. I didn't have a weekly vacation or sick days. We scheduled this time off and that was it. I told them the installation had to be done on a weekend and he told me he would talk to the guys to see if he can get some to come out over. He called back about 10 minutes later and said the guys could be over at our place at about 10:00 Saturday morning. I appreciated that. But Saturday came and left without us hearing a word from them.
When I called that Monday morning, I was upset. Whoever was in charge there needed to talk to these guys that if they were not going to show up, they had to call people. We spent half a day before we finally left. That was the only unprofessional thing that happened. Adrian, the install manager called and was extremely apologetic. They ended up installing the closet on a Tuesday. A nice group of guys came here and showed up right on time. They got this thing all knocked up and it was wonderful. They discounted the closet even more because I told them I had to close my shop and that was what we were trying to avoid as I was losing money.
The next day, my wife and I started to put stuff in. I designed the closet to have certain sized cabins because we had certain sized stuff that we wanted to go into this closet. However, the stuff didn't fit because the cabins were too short. I called Closet World back and told them that the cabins were off by 4 inches in height. Now they're coming out tomorrow to replace the inner panels to make them the right height. Overall, I'm pleased with what Closet World has done but it was a comedy of errors. The whole process from the initial time that I called to now had been about a month and a half. Other than those, everyone that I dealt with was very nice and extremely apologetic. It seemed very genuine.

When we were remodeling our house there were not very many options though regarding closets but I like Closet World's pictures. I looked for the reviews and they were good. Our closet look very well and the installation was very good. The people that came to install them were very professional and they came in on time. However, they only covered half of the hanger and the other half is exposed to dust and I have a guarantee that no dust is going to fall onto the clothes. But when they installed it, even if they look nice, they gave me the impression that for the money that I paid and agreed to pay based on their pictures, they did just half of the job.
They skimped a lot on the wood they used because the boxes covered only half of the hangers. The bar where we put the hangers on came at the very end of those boxes. So, half of the hanger was inside of the box and half was outside exposed to dust. I was very upset, because it's a very steep price. But I accepted that only because the pictures were a little tricky. Furthermore, I was not there to measure with them. They gave me an estimate about where the closets are going to come from but not the depth of them. So, I didn't realize that they are very narrow. They are not deep enough to cover the entirety of the hanger and of the clothes that I put in the closet. So, I felt tricked and it's a very high price for the product. I don't give them a good mark at all.

I just had brand new hardwood floors refinished in the whole bedroom three days before Closet World installs the closet system and we were waiting for them to finish curing. So, I told the guy he needed to be very careful with the floor. When he left, I went upstairs a little bit later to check out everything. He spilled acetone all over the floors and the walls and then didn't put any protection on the floor like cardboard and scratched the floor off. So, they had to be refinished in that closet. I contacted them and they told me to give them an invoice and they'll take care of it. It was no big deal to them and they followed up about a week and a half ago asking me when they'd get the invoice. So, I have to submit the bill my hardwood floor installer sent me yesterday to Closet World.
It's all good now. The closet system was fine but it did so much damage out of carelessness and stupidity. I don't know why he wouldn't put protection down on a brand new hardwood floor but fortunately, the guy working here was able to repair it and get it back to where it was. But it was fine and my interactions with the designer were all good.

In our boys' bedroom, we had drawers put in as well as five different hanging areas. Then, in our master bedroom, we had four different hanging sections put in. The designer came over and spent about two hours here. She measured the closets and sat down with me, and together we came up with a design of what would work best for the space. The installer came right on time, was in and out within two hours, and cleaned up really well. He explained all the products to me while he was here. Overall, Closet World seems like a great company. I looked at all of the myriads of suppliers when we did our closets. We called Closet Factory first and made an appointment. When we had to change it, they said they won't be able to book another appointment for another three weeks. That's not gonna work for us so we called Closet World and they setup an appointment almost immediately. Maya who was the designer from Closet World came, and we liked her. She was fantastic. She measured everything out and did some rough drawings on some sort of scale and then we got a rate.
I got the impression from Closet Factory that they have a big commercial business and they do a lot of new home construction. My sense was Closet World was a little bit more geared to smaller consumers and a little more flexible. We still did bring in the people from Closet Factory. They took measurements and told us they will get back to us. And when they did, their designs were fully rendered CAD drawings which was interesting from a technology point of view. But we didn't like their approach. It was not that it was all that different, it's just that I just immediately liked what Maya proposed. It was Maya's design that was the decision-maker for me. So, we invited Maya to come back and had some questions after seeing both designs. The Closet Factory people introduced us to the idea of a valet bar and I kinda liked it. So, we asked Maya if we can get one of those and she said yes.
We did two closets which were a laundry closet and our main walk-in master bedroom closet, and there was something interesting about the difference in designs that Closet Factory and Closet World did. On the laundry closet, the Closet Factory people proposed a built-in shelf unit that didn't require a centerpiece going all the way down to the floor. And that was appealing to us. So, we asked Maya about it and she said they can't do that. She did a lot of research and made some phone calls, but in the end, she sold us on her design, and that’s what I decided. Closet Factory was cheaper so we asked for some consideration from Closet World and they said 10% off was reasonable.
We already have a closet infrastructure existing so I asked about getting it demolished and then patch and paint it. And Maya told me that's probably what I wanna do. I was a bit surprised that Closet World didn't give me the option of, "Hey, you don't have to patch and paint but you know it's gonna be a lot nicer if you do. And if you're gonna spend $3,500, you might wanna do that and make it so it's more finished." Maya didn't say, "All right, you want the most ideal scenario. What you need to do is you need to have all the old shelves demolished and then you should have a painter come and patch and paint. And by the way, if you have base molding, know that we're gonna take sections of it out and you may need your painter even to come back and do touch-up once we do our installation." That was something we found out ourselves. And luckily, we live in a condominium complex where we have on staff people after-hours who will do that. But that was an additional $1,000 to do all that.
The second thing was we ordered something called antique white which had more of a clean quality to it. I wished there was sunlight but there's no sunlight to be had so for light reflection purposes, we decided we were going to paint the closet antique white so that it would be very bright in here. We also wanted the shelves less industrial looking. But when all the stuff came, it wasn't what I specified.
The other thing which was my biggest disappointment was Maya showed us the rounded edges and I said I definitely want that because it's gonna give it a more built-in finished look. But she didn't tell that the rounded edges only applied to the shelves. It didn't apply to the support pieces. I thought I was gonna get rounded edges on everything and what I was paying extra for was to have these rounded edges on all of the shelf pieces. The installation guy told me it's only on the shelves and sure enough, I looked at Maya's write-up and it says just the shelves. She didn't explain that well enough to me and I should have looked much closer at her final write-up which detailed all of that.
I was also surprised that the installer was just one guy. The reason that became an issue was the rules in our condominium complex. He needed to set up someplace where he could cut shelving and that could only be done in the garage area. We have two floors for the garage area and he can can only use the second floor. So, the security people set him up on the first floor, but then, he had to walk down all these stairs just to get to the second floor. Had there been a couple of people, that would have gone a lot faster. What was supposed to be a one-day installation turned into two days and there was a day in between so it took three days to do the installation. Closet World probably lost some margin on that, but luckily there was no expense passed on to us. But I could see why under normal circumstances one person could do it without difficulty. It made it difficult because we were in a low-rise condominium complex.
But the installer, Joseph, was great. I really liked him and he did a really good job. In the closet, we had put in brand new carpeting and I put in base molding. There are sections of that base molding that had to come out to do a proper installation. And he was very nice to cut the scrap molding pieces that he had taken out and replaced them. He did it in both closets which I really appreciated that he did.
We are happy with our closets but there were regrets. I wish I would have read more and paid more attention. I wish I wasn't so compulsive. I walked into the container store and it has these closets which have these beautiful sort of wood veneers so the closet really looks like furniture. I wish I would have gone to the container store and asked them to give me a bid. Money was important, but it wasn't that important. I wanted a finished look.
There was also one point where I panicked about the laundry closet and I was really worried that there wasn't gonna be enough clearance to easily get the washing machine in and out. I called Maya and told her to make some changes but she told me that at that juncture, they can't. But it all worked out. However, the window of opportunity was I pay the money, it's done, the drawings are fixed, and there's no changing them. It didn't become a problem, but it could have. Also, I had to empty the walk-in closet and think about where am I gonna put all the clothes, shoes, etc. I had to plan it out and had to order wardrobe boxes and large moving boxes. I also had to arrange for a painter to come in and do the demolition and the patch and paint. I had to do all that on my own so Closet World may think about partnering with some painting people
But the closets have a very nice feel to it. And we ended up getting more storage space than we had before which we're very excited about. It was all good from that standpoint. I would just advice all buyers to ask questions and read their agreement to be absolutely certain because that eventually is going to determine whatever satisfaction or ruling is given.

We remodeled our house and needed to put in closets. I met with one of their designers and had them do a closet. The quality is deceiving. It was an odd-shaped closet in an attic. The designer should've realized that it wouldn't be ideal for that kind of closet. Because I already paid for it, I had them install that particular closet in my daughter's closet, which is just a very standard rectangular shape that it worked better in. It looked awful because it's not really custom. What I saw on the catalog was nicer than what was actually put in my closet. It was misleading. And she gave us the second level, not even the first one that she said was more like an IKEA-grade.
The side panel’s only 12 inches out instead of covering the whole wall where the clothes would hang, and it doesn't have a back panel. On top of that, they didn’t tell me that they'll need to take out the baseboard when the designer saw it there. I would've appreciated more transparency as to how it would really look like. I went with Closet World because of the perceived quality of the build that was offered. I had one walk-in closet and then two reach-in bedroom closets, and then an entry coat closet. My Closet World designer was very personable and she seemed to work well with me. During installation they were timely sometimes but at times it felt rushed. It was the same guy each time and he didn't speak good English. So, I'm not sure if things were registering when I was speaking to him. The walk-in closet was first to be done and overall it seemed to have gone okay. There were some nicks to the unit itself, which he repaired using some filler so I wasn't crazy about that.
At a later date, he brought the doors to be installed in the closet. When he took it out of the van, I saw that one of the doors was already damaged. I pointed it out to him and he said it would be okay and he just filled it. For the amount I was paying for the closet, I didn't think that was acceptable. So, I called the regional office and they provided another door. As far as cleanliness, things were mostly okay. There's still quite a bit of sawdust out in my garage, which I have to sweep out. That was more from the second two closets. There were some complaints I had about the installation of the two guest bedroom reach-ins and then the entry closet, and I'm still waiting for the regional office about that. When I pointed it out to the installer, he said that it was because the walls were poor quality.
So, the problem I had was that it looks uneven and there's a large gap between the closet unit and the wall of the house. Some gaps are large, a centimeter or two. It's possible that the walls are uneven but he seemed like he was in a hurry to get to the next job and so he didn't really go over it with me. And then I also had some issues with the entry closet. We didn't plan the design out that well. So, because of the width of my closet, there's a large gap between the wall and the closet unit itself. That was by design since the rod wouldn't be long enough but in retrospect, I would have liked to have the unit span the entire width of it and just divide the closet unit itself. Right now, the way my closet sits, it looks like something I bought it from IKEA. It looks bad so I sent a picture of that to the regional office.
Overall, I was satisfied with the walk-in, and one of the reach-ins came out okay. Taking out some of the baseboards left a little bit of damage to the wall so he could have left the baseboards there and worked around it. We could have done something about that because he told me just to paint over it. Also, there's some parts where there's actual damage to the wall where even if I would just paint over it, it still wouldn't look very good. Although, I do understand the baseboards need to come out. It's a lot of money for closets but I want to be reasonable at the same time. I'm just not sure how much I should expect.

We had work done by Closet World about eight or nine years ago, so I'm a repeat customer. I had one coat closet and a pantry done. Then I had them build a three-door wardrobe with hanging bars and shelves in the master bedroom. My designer was a very nice lady, and was very professional and personable. She had a good input. I had sketched out what I wanted and had early measurements. Knowing the product like she does, she knew some additional things she thought would probably work better for me. So, it was good to have her knowledge to make those recommendations.
The installer was good as well. He was very personable and thorough. The work was very well done. It was not a fast process -- it took most of the day -- but I expected that. He showed me what he was doing, told me what he was going to be doing, and found out where he could do his work. We had good space for him, and he worked independently throughout the day. Overall, it was excellent with Closet World from beginning to end, and I was very satisfied.

It went very smooth, but my wife was not too happy with it. It was the better of the estimates that we got, but she thought we overpaid. On the other hand, I like it. It freed up some space in the room and it was a good job.

Closet World was offering a 50% off promotion so I called and got an estimate. The designer was great. He brought a couple of samples or options that I could choose from and he also had pictures to show what some of their finished products so I was able to get an idea of what the closet would like once complete. I had two closets installed. One was specifically a shelving for footwear and the other was half of the closet was shelving and the other half was hanging racks. The installation was great. They were timely, efficient and very clean.
My only complaint is that my belt rack hangs about two to three inches from the ground when you put belts on it so I can't use it and it's counter-productive. I called and they said that someone would get back to me, set up a time to come and redo it but to this day, I haven't heard from anyone. That was one area of opportunity but the interaction and follow-through were great. It was a seamless experience and I would definitely recommend them.

The designer and I met in our office, took some measurements together and sketched up what I was looking for. That's when she gave me the quote and I liked what I saw. The installation went good and there were no surprises. The installers showed up on time and I pointed them in the direction of where the office was and they took over from there. I let them do their thing and checked in on them once. They were done within about four hours so it was pretty quick. We're all really happy with how the desk turned out, everything was goo. She could see that I was not exactly happy with the price, so she called her boss and negotiated a better price for me, which turned out to be less than half of what the other closet company was willing to quote me. The installers came, did their job and cleaned up after. We had a closet that was 9' x 9' or 10' x 10' in the bathroom, far away to the toilet, so I loved it. But it was useless and unorganized. We just had one rack that went on all four walls, and it was chaotic and depressing. I needed a closet that was organized, clean, displayed my purses, and had my husband's stuff on his side.
When I called Closet World, they immediately sent Debbie who came here, prepared with samples of all colors and a pad with measurements. I told her what we needed and how we needed it. She went into my closet and was awed at how huge it was. My husband said I could have the whole closet to myself, but I was like, "No. You need your stuff here and there." My husband has a piece of the closet, and I don't regret it. We both have two walls each and we still live in half. We have everything organized and the space is so much bigger. I expected the space to be more closed, and it wasn't but opened up completely. So, now we're going to put a nylon and Debbie offered to help design an island for us. But we're going to do it ourselves because we don't need a designer island.
The installers came when they said they were going to come. They did four walls in three hours, knocked these out quickly, and did a great job. That was really amazing because we expected them to be here five or six hours. There were two Spanish-speaking guys - one was Dominican from New York and the other might have been Mexican. We're Puerto Rican from New York. We got along great with them. They were professional. They came here to do what they did, and it worked out and was worth every penny. I emailed Debbie to thank her. She was awesome. I'm very happy and satisfied with my closet. My friends are jealous. They think I have a celebrity closet, and I'm trying to make it look like one.

We have two separate master bedroom closets, the his-and-hers, so we had closet systems installed by Closet World in those. I like their designer and she did a good job designing the closet and the price seemed reasonable, as well. I met with her in my house a couple of times and she was very friendly, helpful and have some good ideas. Installation was okay, although the guys left the installation quite messy. There was sawdust on shelves and I had to do a lot of vacuuming. So I wasn’t that happy about that part.
Also, I paid for an upgraded drawer option with soft close and in some cases, they didn’t close at all on their own, I had to really push them and they’re very wiggly. And then they missed the whole section of the shelf in my husband's closet, so they’re coming on Wednesday to do that and work on the drawers. Then they put a valet rod in the wrong place so they also have to move it. I don’t love the product itself, it was expensive for the quality but their customer service is good and even though they missed a few things, they’re very prompt in taking care of the problems.

I got three estimates and although Closet World was quite overpriced, this was the first time I used them and they were able to give me a closed-in closet as opposed to an open closet. The designer was honest about everything she said and the installers were quick and they knew what they were doing. They installed the closet in a spare room.
I paid initially at the quote which was fine and then I paid them at the delivery, which is also fine ‘cause that was the general practice that I've noticed. However, the installer lost my check almost immediately and that was $750. They wanted a replacement check right away, but how did I know that their guy or somebody wasn’t going to cash that check? I needed to do a stop payment. While I was in the process of doing all that, they sent me a letter that they were going to put my house on the lien. I did what I had to do, yet their guy lost my check and it was my responsibility to hurry up and give them a check back. I was dissatisfied with that.
So far as I understand, everything should be good to go, good standing at this point. They asked for the specific amount of the check which was $750 and I deducted the $15 bank charges which came out to $735. But I wanted to make sure that the bank charges were okay and to make sure as well that they didn't send something to Experian like they threatened they would because I have excellent credit. Also, I wanted to be sure that there was no lien on my house that they threatened they'd do too.
I didn’t appreciate those and they understood. I talked to the manager, Marcus, and he said everything was okay. I sent Closet World a little not-so-nice letter to let them know that I wasn’t happy. Also, the product seemed to be decent but it’s not the quality I expected for an indoor product, especially for the price. And although I was told by an office person who came to my house coincidentally that I supposedly got a 60% discount, the closet I received was really basic for the price. I thought to myself, “Who in their right mind would pay more than this?” You would expect something with great hardware or some designs for the closet but there was none. So I don't think I would use Closet World again.

They have reached out after I told them that and they said they would get back in touch. I’ve been meaning to call them and ask what the status on that is. They also left a bunch of little nuts that hold the shelves up. I’ve just been finding them littered around. I don’t know if they had a bag that was open when they were offloading the truck, but there was a bunch on my driveway. I also picked them out of the carpet a good bit of time. It’s not a big inconvenience, but I thought it was interesting. Overall, everything was great and I love it.

Closet World has more prominent advertising then I went online and saw their website and some reviews. We had a bedroom closet that they lined with wood product and turned into shelving like a built-in bookcase. I appreciated that the designer came out to the house. I needed to have that because what I was having done wasn’t in the brochures or on the website, so I wanted to see if that was feasible or not. She was really very pleasant and very helpful. Everything was very clearly described.
The installation process also went very well. In fact, the installer had an idea for us that created some more space that we hadn’t previously thought about and it was a very good suggestion. The only hiccup was one of the shelves wasn't the right size and they had to bring it out on a later day. But the finish and the quality of the product were very nice. They’re very heavy duty. We even decided on ordering an extra shelf or two. They’re adjustable so we can put them in and move them around ourselves.

The design process was great. We just bought a house and we were online, going through different companies. We called and talked to a few people and decided to go with Closet World after getting the in-home estimate because some of the other places wanted us to pay $100 for them to come out and give us an estimate and that will be applied towards our design if we go with them.
The designer came out on a Saturday. She was very professional. She showed us everything from the bare bones all the way out to super deluxe. We told her what we were looking for, and she gave us a recommendation, even some things I didn't expect to have, like a safe in the closet. She gave us a place to put the safe and took into account the things that I have and gave me space. I didn't think it would all fit so I was already thinking about getting a dresser, but it actually all fit in the closet which means I don't have to go into my dresser.
We did the shelves of the 9x10 master closet and went for a her side-my side kind of a classic look, and it was a good job. In retrospect, I probably would have gone with the backing if I ever were to do it again because we didn't prep prior to it and didn't take down the old stuff. We still had the old holes in the walls and everything else, so we had to go back and fix that after the fact. The install could have been a little better too, but it wasn't a bad experience. The installer took a lot longer than we expected, almost 12 hours, and ran out of parts, but did a good job as far as the quality of the work we expected. It was a really good experience and I was pleasantly surprised.

The gal that came out was prompt in responding. She did the measurement and gave me a proposal. She followed up and told me about the pricing and when the discounts ended. She was good and I liked her. But it could've been better if Closet World provided her with a laptop and with a software that she can just draw it out instead of having to manually draw it. We had shelving and racks put in. They were installed from ceiling to floor. The installers were great and very professional. Overall, I recommend Closet World.

We had Closet World install closets throughout the house including the pantry. My husband is the general contractor and it was a relief for him to have somebody take over that project and handle it. He didn't have to be the finish carpenter and do things himself so it was an efficient support for the builder. Then the designer knew her stuff and came up with practical designs. She was very pleasant to work with however she must be overworked. I had forgotten one little hallway closet and when I tried to follow up with her a couple of times, I had a difficult time getting responses from her. I contacted the main office and sent them the information and they took the order and got it set up. The main installer for the majority of the closets that were installed did the measurements and the drawing for the one closet that I had missed. He was quite friendly and helpful.

Closet World was offering a special - a 40% off. I had two dual masters, a his-and-hers master closet and I also had doors, a hanging space, and shelving installed. And I’m not very happy with the quality of the closet shelving or the materials used. They were just cheap looking with the holes. Because if I go with the California Closets, they don’t have any holes on the shelving like it’s totally custom and it’s a completely solid panel. The gliding doors made by Closet World didn't glide out very well, too. They were not good quality and I’m still very upset. But otherwise the service of Closet World was pretty good. They did resolve the issues that I had with whatever they could.

I had used Closet World in my previous house for garage cabinets and they did well. We just moved into a new home. Then it just so happen that they were having a 50% off sale, so we figured we could hardly go wrong if we use them again. The designer Linda did very good. We had an idea of what we wanted and she went through everything and thought it was going to work in our space. The installation crew was also great. They were clean, they picked up after themselves, and they swept up all of the sawdust. I had a great experience and if and when we need them again, we would probably use them again.

I was referred to Closet World by somebody I trust who had their closet installed. They were also running a 50% off promotion at that time, so we went to them to work on our closet. We needed it in a hurry because we just bought a house and we are trying to move in. It was a brand-new room so there was absolutely nothing in the closet and we needed something right away in order to move in and get settled. So they were also able to do it quickly. We had some shelves, drawers and hanging items installed into a walk-in closet. Then we also had a regular linear closet that we had optimized to make it our office. So we had a lot of shelves installed there so we could store things in it.
The Closet World designer knows her stuff. She was very efficient in making recommendations of what was going to work and she really thought it through. I was impressed with the fact that she knew potential pitfalls like where the door was going to open, and how that would affect the experience. Considering how much hanging you need versus shelving and making recommendations on that and giving me ideas on how to store our stuff that I may not have considered, like putting certain things in baskets versus drawers. So that was very good.
My only complaint about her is she’s a talker and I’m not. She was really chatty and told personal stories and I was a little bit in a rush. I wish she would just get to the point. I called her back again to do another project and she was still chatty. It’s slightly painful to endure the process with her. She was very nice but she’s just a little long-winded for my taste. Other people might like it but for me, it was annoying.
Also, the interior hardware was different on this recently installed one than the first one. I called my designer to ask about that because they seemed not as high end and I was just wondering if that was an upgrade that I had missed or whether that was the standard. She told me that Closet World had changed their hardware since I had gotten mine installed. She assured me that it was not any less quality.

My Closet World experience of getting my master bedroom closet went smooth. The designer was great. But the time it was set up for the actual installation, like what I was promised and what happened were different things. When they got there, it ended up being fine but it was supposed to be set up for a short time in the morning so they left their job to go there to wait and then they ended that time frame.
It was like we tried reaching out and couldn't get a hold of the designer. We got hold of somebody else somewhere else in the whole business. And then at that point, they told us, "Oh, I thought they left you a message." I was like, "I never received a message." And then I called. I'll be out much later and they ended up coming out much later, like three hours later. So once again, they had to leave their place of employment to go there and wait. This one drawer is off and I've called them twice now to see about having somebody come out and get it fixed.

I liked the discount that Closet World offered. The estimate that I was given was good and the guy who came out for the design was awesome. He got everything within the budget that I needed. I got three closets done and turned one into a pantry and made the other two better rooms for space and stuff. They're all in a nicer finish. We did two closets the first time and he gave me an idea of per closet breakdown so I’d be able to see how far I wanted to go or how much work I wanted. I told him to follow up with me because I'll do another one and he did to the tee. The first time he followed up, I was going out of town so I asked him to call me back in a couple of months and he did. He came back out the second time and double checked everything. I already knew how much it would cost.
The first time that they did the installation, the team had to do a bunch of cuts and made a mess downstairs. My girlfriend asked them to clean up and they did with no problem. The second time that they came out, everything was pre-cut, so no drama with that. Our first two closets took most of the day, but there was a lot of stuff to be done. The last one went by pretty fast. However, they didn’t have the drawers for the third closet and didn’t show up until a day or two after the date that I'd given so they didn’t get installed until about a week later. But overall, the experience was very professional and I have recommended Closet World to a close friend.

I'm very disappointed with my experience with Closet World. The workers who made the cabinet have 15 years experience and that's why they're so complacent. One of the workers located the stud on the wall without using an instrument. When they located one stud, all they did was count 16 inches from left to right, right to left, and locate the other stud. They should at least confirm that they hit the stud with an instrument. When I asked the worker, he was so irritated that I was questioning his ability and I don't want that so I kept quiet and hoped for the best.
I called the supervisor about that and when they came back to redo the doors, it's the same person. I'm not very satisfied and confident that it was done right. Right now the closet is done but I haven't put anything much inside. I need to hire somebody or ask my neighbor to double check the location of the stud if it was hit or not. I want to make sure that everything was done right. The cabinet looks nice physically but my primary concern is if they hit the stud. When I painted the wall, I made my own marking on the location of the stud and I think the builder missed some of the studs. No wonder Closet World's reviews online are very bad.

In general, we're pretty happy with their installation. It's been really good except this last round. There's a couple of things that they forgot like there's a lock in there and some extra shelving that they forgot to bring. There's also one little spot that they didn't finish up properly. I think we need to call back on but we have a hectic schedule so we haven't had the chance to really follow up on it. The installer had some challenges before this recent project. We spent 45 minutes looking through options that he had and then he designed it from there then the installers were on time, efficient and did the work expeditiously. But they had to come back a second time because of a design snafu. I would recommend though that when an installer makes the decision to change, he/she should consult the designer. We had to deal with the placement of the cabinetry around outlets and installers won't cover up an outlet as they're not trained to put an outlet behind the desk whereas in my case, it would have been okay and the installation would have been symmetrical on both sides. But overall, it was a satisfying experience.

They were not just waiting for me to call, but followed up with the price or the design.
The price was 30% lower than what others charged, so that's the main reason that I purchased from them. Their salesperson was very helpful and detailed the design and the change of design as per my request or situation. I got one estimate from them, but they revised it, then they tried to get my business date. They lowered the price and also made some changes here and there, based on the situation. Closet World is a good company. I had a couple of issues but the company rectified them right away. I was not too happy with the designer and the design phase. The other company that came, the person was a lot more prepared. They designed everything on the computer. With Closet World, it was all done by hand and it was difficult to visualize. And the original design was way off. As a matter of fact, the designer took my downpayment, went home, and made us put together a closet that was way too much for our space. My wife thought it was ridiculous - there was no way we can fit that much in the space. So I ended up calling the designer and she came back and redesigned a much smaller closet, which was pretty much what the second person did the first time.
The closet design was not very good initially. I am not sure if Closet World didn't have computers for the designers or the designer didn't have a computer. But because it was all done by hand, the dimensions were wrong and the design was out of scale. Luckily though, we started right away because after she left, we figured it didn't look right so we fixed it.
Also, I got another estimate which was in the same range as Closet World's. However, they all say they’re giving 50% to 70% discount, but the price is all the same. They make it sound like the consumer is getting a sale, but they are are not. That’s the part I hate about this industry. They come over and tell the consumer that if they sign today, they'll give 60% off. But one is not really getting a discount, they're getting the going rate. The reality is they all do the same thing and it's a bit misleading. But a consumer who does any look around will figure that out. That’s one feedback for management I would strongly suggest because some unsophisticated consumers may feel they got ripped off. Nevertheless, I’m pleased with Closet World overall. Their management was very responsive and took care of my issue so I’m very happy. I’d recommend them to my friends.

We got one estimate from Closet World and we just went along with it. We had a regular closet in the bedroom and then we had a linen closet in the hallway. The other closet was okay but we still had to have them come back. We were good with it until the installation came around and that was a disaster. They've come back five times. They have to redo it. The first time they came, they measured, which was okay. Then we paid for half the balance or we had to put a deposit and then they came back to install it. And they never told us that the walls from the inside had to be removed, so we had to reschedule. Then they came back the third time to reinstall and nothing fit. And then the fourth time they came, the drawers were too wide and too heavy. It could have been a very, very dangerous situation for them. And I told them, "Listen, I cannot have these drawers. It's heavy."
So what I did was I told them that whatever the measurements are, they gotta be halved. The thing is that they had one guy come in who did it on the first time and the measurements were wrong. The second guy that came was great and I said, "Please tell them to just send the same guy." I don't want to go through this every single time explaining what the issue is. And then I got the guy, Ramon, call me regarding the last payment which I didn't want to pay for because I was really pissed off. It was taking out so much of my day every time to go there. It's my rental house, it's not even where I live. It would have been different if I live there. I wouldn't mind sitting and waiting for them. It was such an inconvenience.
They should have really knocked off one payment. But I was, "You know what, it's $350. I don't want to get on a nasty note with you guys." But the truth is that's what they should have done for putting me through that hassle and being there. It was not a good experience. I was really dissatisfied. Everything was done perfectly that day and we've been good to go since. I'd have them back.

Closet World did a built-in bookcase with some drawers in my living room. Initially, I got a few quotes but they were the most reasonably priced. My designer and I came up with a design then she submitted it. The installation kept getting pushed back so I had to call installation myself to try and set up an installation date. Then they had to call me back and then call the designer which was a little bit of a long process.
I finally got an installation date and come installation, there was a screw-up. They couldn't install at the date that we had planned and that pushed back even more. When the first installation came out, the designer said, “Well, just go with it.” It still looked nice but the design wasn’t what I wanted and what we previously designed. There was something wrong with the measurements due to the designer putting something that wasn't clear. I had to talk to the manager and had to explain it to him. They came out the second time with the the correct measurements and reinstalled it. It took four months to finally get it done. I was pretty happy with the product but I canceled on a few of the things because the installation went until 10:00 at night. I was frustrated.

I worked with Closet World before and they were absolutely wonderful. In my last house, I got pretty much the same thing I got in this one. They came in, they put the closet in, the backing’s on it and it was beautiful. This time, I just moved into this house and I had all the walls painted. I had them take down the closet and fix the little area where I have the dresser ‘cause I knew it was going to be exposed like my other one was. I had that all fixed up nicely. They painted it over where you take the board off for the hangers, but they didn’t make it nice ‘cause there was going to be backing on it.
However, I was told that that the backing would cost extra and was going to be $500. I told them "Absolutely not," and that I wanted to cancel my order. They told me I couldn't do that and that I only had three days. That was my bad as I didn't know about that. We settled on $250 with the understanding that the manager was going to call me, but he never did. The lady who came out was also new and she told me they haven't talked about the backing yet. I couldn’t have the backing because it wasn’t on the order and they couldn’t do anything about it.
The installer manager was also rude and extremely hostile which was maybe his personality. They then called the sales lady but she never called back even though I told them that she and I spoke about the backing. She also saw where they had fixed the area for the dresser. Overall, my experience with Closet World was poor and I felt like I got duped a little bit in.

Closet World's product is good but the practice by which they try to sell it tends towards a lot of hucksterism. They're based on price but they use a lot of trickery and foolery to try and get you to have that price. It was a little bit more transparent the first time I worked with them. Even though they did that, I kind of knew they were gonna do that and it's fine. The second time, the designer lied to me from what I can tell. A bunch of stuff wasn't priced correctly and I was constantly calling management to try to get it fixed. In the end, they won every battle because I had already given downpayment. Even though I was calling their customer service, I wasn't getting much help. They have an internal problem with the way they do their incentive structure and maybe because they're trying to make a profit. But their attempt to make a profit is just not transparent and they're trying to play with people's psychology. It's frustrating.

Closet World re-did three of my closets here in the house. The designer that came out to our house was really good. She was very responsive, she took direction well but didn't give me upgrades or anything like that, which I didn't know if I could do or not. I knew what I wanted, and I might have chosen a different finish if she offered me finishing options.
The installation team was great. However, the amount of time that was allowed for the installation was not adequate for what they needed to do. So, they really need to work with their scheduling. While the boys got here the first time, they showed up at three in the afternoon, which was the time that I said okay. I specifically asked if they would finish in one day. And I was told, "Yes, they would." So, I tore out all the closets. All they had to do was install. However, I didn't know that they had to custom cut everything, and just to bring the equipment up and down took almost 45 minutes. And then, they got a phone call from their boss berating them for not doing the installations quicker. But at the end of the day, they're human beings and they had to get into traffic in San Francisco.

I ordered garage cabinets and cabinets for my office. The salesperson who has been coming to my house, Tamara, is great and responsive when I have questions or complaint. She gives me a price and I give her a check. This is my third time working with her so I really don't have a problem. The other couple of jobs went fine. They were simple and so is this one. But I have some previous work done that's going to get done under warranty. I couldn't find the previous paperwork, which was a long time ago and I understood that, except, Tamara the salesperson said that she'll get it taken care of for me. Then, she told me that they were unable to do it because of warranty issues but I wasn't told till way past the three days if I decided to cancel the order. So I don't think that was very fair. I was told that they couldn't do the extra work. I'd pay before they do install the new cabinets that I approve.
The second issue is that I asked for a morning delivery 'cause I'm self-employed and I need to schedule myself to be home. So I stayed out of work and the night before, I got a phone call saying they'll be in the house between 2:00 and 4:00. That is nowhere near an AM install. Even if it was moved, that's not very AM-ish but I'd still make it. I'm getting it done. So I called and they said there's nothing they could do. Then the service manager, Marcos, called me and said he'd let me know when they're coming. At 3:00 I called them back to ask if they were coming. "They're just wrapping up and will be over at your place."
Ultimately, I took a day off at work and no one showed at all. I sent my staff home early out of the office, cleared all the walls off and now I can't have the cabinet installed till Friday. I asked when the cabinets will be installed and the service manager said they'll compensate me. I haven't heard back from anybody. I know I have a balance of $400 but I don't have a problem with recent contracted price. But I do have a problem paying for my full contracted price.

Once the job was done, he explained it to me and let me look. My husband, however, had them come in to redo a couple of hinges that he didn't like the look because they were nicked. After the work was done, I was a little disappointed because I thought the products are going to be something really fancy and completely different, but they just look like laminated wood drawers. The designer was very courteous, professional, and was able to give me a good deal. But I'm more impressed with the installer. He measured and installed the laminate in such a way that it's leveled and very clean. After that, he cleaned up after his mess. The owner called me after asking if I have any problems because they will come back if there's any. Excellent quality and service. Some of my friends came into my house and asked who did it. I'm a realtor, and I had Closet World work on a $1.4 million condominium I was selling so it is very important for me that the work can come out excellent. The person who came out did a great job. However, since all customers want to cut cost, we work around by telling them what they don't need. I spoke to the guy about how I wanted to save cost by removing the baseboard so that I didn't have to pay the extra $100 to do the coving. So, we had to order different material for that and build it. It's an extra job, but the difference is about 10% cost. So I was lucky that when I talked to the installer, he told me that he’s gotten a lot of callbacks because of it and people get really mad because once you pull out the baseboard and then do the closet, it’s going to require an extra paint job and there might be a need to mend the sheetrock.
So all kinds of things would have happened and it would have been a disaster. Clients will go crazy coming back to see it all ripped out and have to be redone. It did cost more time as it took another three weeks, but I didn't want to do a bad job so I took the time and my clients swallowed that. And I was very happy. The manager said that would cost me 10% more if he had to reorder and reschedule. However, he did waive that extra charge. Otherwise, they would have charged me for rescheduling. The final smack is I was not going to cancel it because I need the carpet. Some people may go ahead and cancel and they would lose their whole deposit.
Looking back, I'm very fortunate that I was reminded of what could happen and that I took the chance of rescheduling. The whole process from ordering and having it done took around eight weeks or longer. But the workmanship was excellent and the manager was good. Although it takes a lot of patience to go through what I did. So it would be wiser for Closet World to bring that out at the beginning and not say that it's gonna be fine.

Closet World installed shelving with a barb to hang stuff on in our laundry room because we got the laundry built out. Their designer was super nice, super helpful and always on time. I appreciated that she tried to negotiate our price for us really hard with corporate. The installers were beyond fast. They were in-and-out in 45 minutes, which was amazing. But she was very apologetic and we rescheduled it. The designer was on time and I loved her. I don't know if she was the first one that was supposed to be assigned to me or not but she was very easy to work with. She also gave me a great deal and had a vision of what I wanted.
The installation was also an issue. I was at work and my sister was at home waiting for the installers. They were supposed to be there between 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock. When I called their office, they said, the driver will be there in 15 minutes. It must've been 8 o'clock by the time the installer showed up. When he got there, he was so nice and he's the sweetest guy. He felt bad because when he got to my house he’d come all the way from Irvine which is quite a haul in traffic. But if the company doesn’t plan for that then there’s no one to blame. Although the supervisor should have figured this one out.
The installer was very professional. He's also efficient and made sure everything was tidy. He really did a beautiful job. He also left the extra little tabby things if I wanted to move my shelves around. And the supervisor did end up calling me the following weekend apologizing and he took full responsibility. I had a very good experience with Closet World. A friend of mine had redone his closet and gave me a recommendation for Maya, the consultant that I worked with at Closet World. I also looked at a number of other options including California Closets and The Container store, and they have a closet aspect to their place. I got four estimates but Closet World was by far within my budget compared to the others. I needed to do three closets and the California Closets came in at 17 grand. The Container Store wanted $8,000 for one closet and Closet World came in at 5 grand so I ended up using some of the designs from California Closets. I gave them to Maya, and she was very helpful in incorporating some of the ideas and still, the price was below the others. I then decided to go with Closet World and I really couldn't be happier with how it turned out.
Maya came to my house on a Sunday and was really accommodating. The next day, she came back to give me the design plans. It happened very quickly. Whereas, the California Closet person took three weeks and I didn't have that much time. The installation was on time. But when I ordered a few more shelves, it took a little more time than I expected. The guy who installed did half of it one day. And then, he was supposed to come back the next day, but didn't. That was one part that I wasn't totally happy about, but it really didn't affect us too much because my house is being remodeled. Eventually, he finished it all. Although there is a part in one of the closets that don't fit perfectly. So, I have to ask my contractor to put a trim to make it look okay, but it's such a minor detail that it's nothing. This entry was at the left side of the closet wall and had a dimension of 29", and the hanging area was to the left of that and had a dimension of 13". I take the responsibility for not recognizing that the clothing would be hang 11" into the walk way which left an walking opening of 18"? The smallest walking opening I am aware of is 24". At 18" the clothing, if hung in this location, would constantly be knocked to the floor.
When I contacted the Closet World area manager and explained the condition he asked me to solve the condition? Prior to installment, I said that it was not what I wanted, that it was the wrong size and not what I expected. So, they stopped the installation halfway. I said, “Why don’t you resolve with the manager this matter so we can either demolish, take it back, and bring the new one?” I called the manager and tried to resolve the matter. He said no, that if I wanted a different product I had to pay more. I said, “Sir, this is my budget. I can’t pay more. This is what I agreed with this lady. It’s her fault she did the wrong measurements.”
I said, “You know what? Why don’t you come and take it out? I don’t want you. I know I put a down payment. I don’t want that money. I’m not gonna pay the rest of the money.” So they started threatening me saying they're gonna ruin my credit if I don’t pay the full amount. I had to call people to come and demolish it so I can use my bedroom. Every part was sitting in that bedroom and the work wasn’t complete. The gentleman was very nice, but some mistakes happened, but were not the installation guy's fault. He doesn’t have the right stuff so he had to come back again. He was doing his work outside on the driveway and then it got dark because he came late after his previous installation work took longer. And the next morning, I would see the nails all over our driveway. I was like "those are nails, and I don't want those in my tire". We're also the ones who did the cleaning after.
Another thing was that Closet World doesn't call ahead of time to tell me what time they're coming. For someone who works full time, that's hard to work around and schedule. Then, every time I've had a closet installed, the installation person was late. So, I'll schedule a whole day off work, then they would call the day before and tell me they'll be coming between 2:00 and 5:00 then they would show up at 3:00. They wait too long to tell me when they'll be coming so the scheduling was a little frustrating. They would also give a window because their first installation before me usually takes longer than expected and I've that happened multiple times. But as for the quality of their product, it's great.
