HMS took care of everything quickly and efficiently. Also, the people that they had to do the work came within a few hours. I didn't have to wait days or months, it was really quick - within a 24-hour period. They're great and I have recommended them to others.

I've had TotalProtect for ten years. It's really easy submitting claims. I dial the number and it's all computer-animated. They provide me a contractor contact with a claim number, call that contractor and let them know the claim number, and they set up the time. Generally, it worked out great. Over the years, I've only had one bad experience with all the repairs with them. My most recent claim was that of AC fix and I was very pleased with it. The quality of their work is very good. I would recommend them.

It was pretty easy to submit the claim. But we encountered an issue when we needed our water heater fixed and they were gonna send a technician out from Home Depot. We waited the 24 hours that they were supposed to call us back and they never called us back. So I called HMS and it ended up that Home Depot didn't service our area. So we had to wait the next 24 hours before we could get them out here. But the techs that they sent out were knowledgeable, respectful, courteous and cleaned up when they were done. The quality of their work was good. Though the first thing that they tried didn't work but the second one ended up working. And we had it working since then. It was a good experience and I'd recommend them.

Submitting the claim was not bad, but the plumbing company for the last couple of times has been frustrating. They wouldn't call me back to schedule an appointment. When I called them, they told me that there's no job in. I told them what it was and they eventually found it. Somebody just messed up how they did it, and this is the second time that the same plumbing company has done that. Then they come out again and again to fix the problem they have worked on the last time. I still paid another $75 and it's still not right which is frustrating for me. I like TotalProtect's customer service, but I do not like the plumbing company they gave us.

HMS Home Warranty is perfect. I love it! The only thing is I just called them a month ago. I had a problem with ac. And the guy came and repaired it. He was from a company named Cooling Comfort. He did a very good job, but he was not really a friendly guy. But the other one I called for plumbing was very nice. He did a very good job. But in general, I am happy. And I'm going to renew my contract. The only complaint I have is the first time they charged me $456, now they're asking for $556; $100 more. But the guy told me that was the first time for a new buyer. They have that rate then if I renew, that's going to be a little more expensive. But I don't mind.

My AC has been out for over three weeks. We filed a claim when it first went out and the next day received a phone # for a technician. After calling him and leaving a message, it took another day for him to contact me. He stated he was too busy and would not get to me for a week. He then asked me to describe the problem and after doing so, he told me to go to an appliance store here in Richmond (actually gave me the name of who to talk with) and pick up a "Hard Start" device and gave me instructions on how to install it. I installed it on the unit to no avail and wasted $20. He did not come out for over a week and then it was his son that showed up and was on the phone with his dad the whole time he was attampting to troubleshoot. He then found wires that had been spliced under the house and stated that this is causing no control voltage. He charged me the $75 and left without explaining what was next, he only stated that the warranty company would call me. After calling the technician for almost 2 weeks, Total Protect finally called and stated that the repairs are not covered. The only people who have worked on this unit was another representative that Total Protect sent out two years ago when we had an issue. But now Total Protect calls me and states they won't cover the repairs needed (which are still unknown) because ot the wires. I asked them to look up my account and see who did the repairs and the representative stated that it did not matter because they could not say that the last person did it. I then asked how they could state that I did it, and she replied that it did not matter because the wires were cut and not covered under warranty. So, I guess they will look for any excuse not to pay out the larger claims and rely on the smaller claims to keep up their ratings. I will never pay another dime to these people, it is nothing but a scam.

It hasn't been very good with HMS - I'm wondering maybe I spent money on an insurance that wasn't really there. It was hard to get a hold of anybody, they kept passing me off to different people. Nobody knew what to do. Something about their computers were down or something - they wouldn't do it by hand. I talked to five or six different people until they finally called me back. It's gotten me wondering if maybe it was a fraud or something. It's been two or three weeks now and I am still waiting.

The claims representative was very friendly and helpful. The air condition guy was very friendly and knowledgeable. The other technicians didn't say much but they were nice. They told me what was going on and he explained what the issue was. It was something that wasn't covered under warranty and he told me I needed to probably change. I wish I didn't have to give 1 star because I am completely disappointed with this company. I called for an AC failure and it took 3 days for them to get back to me once I submitted my claim. Then I got the technicians number to set up a time and the first available was a week out!!! Once the week past and they came out, I was given a call from Total Protect and they told me The tech OF COURSE found ONLY issues that are not covered under the warranty. The rep that called was quick to let me know everything was was not covered on ACs and could care less how upset I was at the findings. I even told him I was going write this review and he said ok that's fine. Should have listened to the others who had bad reviews. Waste of TIME and MONEY.

My husband passed away so I'm a single mom on a limited budget. I thought a home warranty would be a good way to possibly defray some large repair costs so I got TotalProtect. I've had no issues with them at all other than the long wait times when I do have to call them. Their website does not work to place the claim. But other than that, they have been good and cooperative.
I did have one issue with one of the companies they authorized to do work, though. One time my air conditioning wasn't working and TotalProtect authorized a company to come. They came, got it running, but within a week it was not running again. TotalProtect did a re-call and the company set up an appointment but did not show up. I kept trying to call them back - they said they'd come the next day but they didn't. So I called TotalProtect and they transferred the claim to another company to do the repairs.

HMS was suggested to us by the real estate company where we purchase our town home. Claim submission is an extremely easy process with them, especially compared to the warranty provider at our previous home. My husband spoke with the claims person at HMS - he just answered a couple of questions and basically it was very simple. We then got a confirmation on an email; in fact, they had already told us that we could call a contractor of our choice. The electrician who came was really good, he seemed very knowledgeable and thorough. We described what we thought was happening and he found out what the real problem was.

When we first bought our house 21 years ago, the owner had the insurance on it through HMS. We have renewed it ever since. Claims submission is very easy - just call in, let them know what's wrong, and they have a provider right there to give you a call. (Sometimes they do ask you to call them or they'll call when they couldn't get someone out quick enough.) Their reps try to do all they can and I haven't had any problems with them, except this last time when they sent a letter in error - it wasn't time for ours to be renewed but they said they weren't going to renew it. But eventually they sent something right away for us and it was settled.
Their providers have been fairly well but I've also had a bad provider experience. The 2nd guy who came to put in our furnace said that the first guy had wired it wrong. But I know that some companies are bad mouthing others, so I took it with a grain of salt since the furnace ran for a while (not sure for how long though). Nevertheless, I was very satisfied with the last guy who came out and fixed our furnace and I've actually recommend HMS to everybody.

They made the appointment for me, they followed up, made sure the appointment was verified. They were fantastic. I wasn't there when the technician came but my husband was. He said that the people who came were very helpful and also explained what problems that we're having as well as what they were looking for in regards to how it was written on this inspection because some of it looks foreign. HMS was the one my realtor recommended. It seems pretty equivalent in terms of the deductible and the price to the others on the market so that's why I went with it. I think claim submission is very easy - I filled it out online, they called me, and they sent out a person who fixed the problem. I paid the hundred dollars for them and everything else was taken care of - the appliance is working great now. I think HMS is appropriately great for the value and easy to use as well.

HMS has been pretty good for most of the things I've called for. However, I disagree with the deductible. I have a number of things repaired here and I'm paying almost a hundred dollars deductible for almost everyone who came out and I think that's a little bit too much. Even for minor things such as the garage door that was not working and I knew exactly what was wrong with it but I didn't want to fix it myself because I wasn't aware of the electrical power. The technician just cut a wire and that was a little bit fast paced. For something as quick as that I had to pay a hundred dollars. They have no clear guidelines in terms of how much money that's going to be coming out of your pocket once you call somebody out. They need to just spell it out because it would be much better.
On the other hand, whenever I call, somebody would be out within a reasonable period of time except one time when the technician’s company was not based in Delaware so that took a while. I'm now waiting for my air conditioner which is about to go. I'm not sure exactly what it is but I think they've already approved the part for it and I already called them to find out if they're coming to install it. Additionally, the guy that fixed my doorbell went above and beyond and that satisfied me. I'm sure that the warranty would be out soon and I would have to renew it if I decide to do so.

5 star review are bogus. I rate it minus 10. Warranty came with purchase of house. Small items under or near deductible, no problem. Big ticket items, they will find a way to decline it. Some people nice, most were snotty because of my persistent calling. AC worked fine in 2014. 1st use in 2015, not working. Unit had never been serviced or opened. HMS called out tech who found fan motor burned out. Replaced fan motor. Still didn't work. Tech said when fan motor failed it caused compressor to overheat causing the lines to pop off. However when he reported to HMS, his paperwork stated the lines were disconnected. All HMS needed to deny the claim as they stated the unit had been improperly serviced. BS, it was never serviced since I purchased this stupid "no pay" warranty. Spent $3,200 my money to replace unit.
Been fighting with these people for 6 weeks to reimburse me. Not going to happen. One claims manager was downright snotty and told me it was a pre-existing condition prior to my purchasing home and warranty. Why the hell buy the warranty if they have no intention of covering big ticket items. I asked to speak with Doug Stein, President, no way. Asked to speak with head of Claims, no way. All of these people are trained to decline claims first, thinking people will accept it. Most idiots do, not me. I will pursue this vehemently because it is flat wrong. When I canceled the warranty they refused to refund it all. I am considering a class action and definitely more than small claims court. As I told the last person I talked to yesterday, I promise when this is over Doug Stein will get with these lower personnel and want to know why in the hell didn't you settle this valid claim? It's going to cost them far more than $3,200. This is bogus and unnecessary.

I have had my warranty for several years and have filed two claims. I called yesterday regarding my AC not cooling. A Tech was dispatched very quickly and assessed the situation. He said it was my ductwork. I read my contract and it said ductwork was covered as long as it was accessible which mine is. Of course TP did not call me to follow-up, so I called to inquire about the status and the nice rep informed me that my ductwork was not covered. When I questioned why not, she said only the ductwork from the unit is covered. The ductwork is coming from the unit so I do not understand how my claim can be denied? Well, you are losing a customer. I have signed up with Choice Home Warranty for a lower service call fee and they indicate they cover ductwork for airflow and will allow you to replace your applicances with the same brand. TP wants to tell you the brand you can replace with in the case of the claim I filed when my refrigerator went out and I had to pay out of pocket to replace. As a result of the lack of response on our claim - even with MULTIPLE follow-up calls/emails demanding someone DO SOMETHING - we ended up having an electrical fire and only by the grace of God are our 4 children, ourselves and our home OK.
The problem is still unresolved and we are looking at a huge cost of repairing the problem that HMS NEVER GOT FIXED. Their customer service gave us the run-around for the past 4 months until our warranty expired and THEN called to say "oh, sorry, we can't help you because your warranty expired and you didn't extend it." But now when my AC is not working, because there's a leak on the coil or something, I get told that this could've happened the past month, that it's pre-existing so it's not covered. I just wish that somebody would've told me that the problem had have started when the policy started. On May 30, 2015, I discovered my A/C unit was not working. No problem, I have paid premiums to Systems Protect for years and my Carrier air conditioning unit is covered. I called Systems Protect claims department and submitted my claim on Monday, June 1st. A technician came out and diagnosed the problem as a seized compressor. My plan requires a $60 deductible which I paid to the technician. A few days later I was called by Systems Protect asking me if I would authorize an additional $395 to handle disposal of the Freon and other uncovered charges. I said I would, "but PLEASE hurry, because we can't sleep in the heat." My wife and I have to take long drives to escape the temperatures in our home. Tomorrow will be 96 degrees and by Sunday it will be 99.
After many days and many calls, which have routinely required me being placed on hold for up to 45 minutes before reaching an agent, I finally was assured that my call would be escalated to a "manager." Right! Finally, on June 15th a manager called to say that unfortunately Carrier no longer stocks this particular 2-stage compressor. Carrier would have to manufacture the replacement compressor which would take between 15 and 17 days. She also told me without my asking that "No, it could not be shipped overnight, because they always arrive damaged when shipped overnight!!" Honest, that is exactly what I was told. When I asked why they wouldn't replace the whole unit with one that is currently available, she said she would have to contact purchasing. She promised to call me back the following day. NOT!
After sweltering in unrelenting heat for 19 days now. I can't get them to even return my calls. My wife and I are not young. We are trapped by the notion that we have a warranty to cover some of the expense. I would not recommend this company for home warranty service of any kind. Buyer beware! The agents you call are well trained. They are very sympathetic. They promise they will escalate the calls. They apologize profusely and repeatedly every time I call and reexplain our predicament, but nothing has been done to solve the problem. Good grief.

We took ownership of the house last month, the sellers had an HMS Warranty. We had a leaky kitchen sink that happened after the home inspection and before we took ownership, so we filed a claim. Took the day off work to have someone from MAJESTIC ENTERPRISES, LP come in, fumble around for an hour or so, tell us it's a pre-existing condition, take our deductible and leave without fixing a thing. Three days later I get a call from the HMS con artists telling me it's not covered, so I am out of my time and money. By their logic everything would be a pre-existing condition, so what's the point of having this worthless warranty? Needless to say we hit Angie's List and found another plumber, which we should have done to begin with. I would stay away from these people at any cost.

My HMS experience wasn't bad but the only thing is I got put on hold for 10 or 15 minutes - that happened to me twice. Once I talked to the agent though, she started the process. It wasn't too bad too but I didn't hear from the plumbing company like I was supposed to, so I had to call back. The agent then called the plumbing company and got them on the book. The technician that came did a great job - wonderful quality - he wanted to make sure everything was done right.

But when I turn it back on, its broke again...I try to call them last night and could not get a live operator..I stayed on hold for 3 hours..I guess everybody had the night off..Thinking of suing them for a new AC like they promise, if they could not fix it and they haven't..

Claim submission with them is sometimes good, sometimes bad. When you call them, they ask for plenty of information which you have to repeat when you get a claims rep on the phone. Even if you recommend someone that you know will work, they don't give that to you, they'll just give you some other person. In the end, you still end up going right back to the same person that you've stated the first time. But I think the quality of work has been wonderful in general. The only trouble that I had was with A1 Plumbing - they were rude and didn't follow through. But other than that, I've recommended them. I've told a lot of people about TotalProtect's services.

TotalProtect has been great so far. We've had it for a few years now from the other house we currently own. Submitting a claim is easy - I call or get on the computer but usually I call and let them know what's going on. They normally have somebody here within a couple of days but the last experience that I've had - they had to repair my air conditioner - it took about a week to get fixed and I was miserable. The technician was good to go and he did great - he knew exactly whats wrong, it was a circuit board. It's just that the circuit board was fried so they needed to order the part that went out and then they were so busy in that time of the year. This experience notwithstanding, I recommend TotalProtect all the time.

I wanted to share my experience with Total Protect (TP) to forewarn others thinking of signing up with this Home Warranty Company. I signed up with Total Protect on 18 May 2015. I asked about their plan that included maintenance checks of our home systems. I was told they no longer offer those plans because their new plans just simply cover everything regardless of age or problem. I signed up and after waiting their 10 day grace period, I called them on 29 May to request service on our AC system. The AC was working, but it was not cooling the house, although I had the system serviced in March by United Air Temp and was told the system was working when they finished. Total Protect sent out Atlas AC on 1 June to check our AC and they determined the system needed to be replaced. I called Total Protect multiple times over the next week and was told they were researching the issue and someone would get back with me soon. I then called on 8 June and used their call back service to have an agent call me when one was available. After 3 hours I called them back again and this time I waited until I spoke to an agent. Again I was told they were still working on the issue. Later that evening I was finally called back and informed they had determined my AC issue was a pre-existing problem and therefore they would not cover it. However, they had no problem accepting my monthly membership payment and they were quick to accept my $100 service fee for sending out Atlas AC. When I signed up, I was not informed about a Pre-existing clause. I was simply told that once my policy went into effect that I was covered for any issue and if I ever have a problem TP would either fix it or replace it. I felt they should have advised my about their Pre-existing clause stated in the fine print of the multi-page contract, although I had no way of knowing my issue was considered Pre-existing. Their customer service was terrible in that it took them over a week to finally inform me they would not correct my AC issue and I had to call them to finally have them tell me they would not cover my AC. It took 7 days for Total Protect to finally call me with a status update. So I leave it to your conclusion; if this sounds like the type of company you want to do business with and if this is the way you want to be treated by a company, then by all means Total Regret - I mean Total Protect is the company for you.

Every time I use TotalProtect, my stuff got fixed. They were always very good. I had absolutely no problem with them. They've been here three times. It's been the same great company each time. They were always very thorough. The only reason I wouldn’t recommend them is for the simple fact that they close at 5 o’clock. I'm in the West Coast. Well, 2 o’clock my time.
And if something happened at my house during the middle of winter and my heater went out at 2 o' clock, they would be closed and they couldn't get approval to come to my house until the next day. I've never been in that situation but the last time my technician came, it was a little after 2 o' clock and he was in his truck trying to get a hold of TotalProtect to let him know that the job was finished. And he called his boss and he says, "You aren't going to get hold of them because they close at 5 o' clock back East." That's one of the downfalls of TotalProtect. I called HMS Warranty and I wanted somebody to come out here just before I hired another company. They sent me a $100.00 back. Well, that’s great but it still cost me $150.00. This next guy wired them and replaced a part and I paid him $250.00 then he left.
It wasn't too long ago that I also had a problem with the hot water heater. The guy they sent walked in here, took one look and went outside. He got two of those replacement burning units. We filed a claim a month ago and it is still in the process of being resolved for our AC unit. We contacted HMS too many times to count to get updates on the process of our claim. In the beginning things moved along quickly and we were happy, and then HMS had to order a part for the AC. If it hadn't been for our tech who warned us we might have to call in to HMS and give a verbal agreement, we would have never known what the hold-up was. They never called and followed up with us or our tenants. We called on a Monday to give our verbal consent to order the part.
We followed up on Thursday after we hadn't heard anything, and were told we never gave a verbal consent so the part was never ordered because of the out of pocket repairs. The part was on hold in purchasing for a week before HMS contacted the warehouse/dealer to see if a part was available. Our tech called and told HMS they had ordered the wrong part, and to cancel the order and reorder the part that was needed for our unit. HMS still sent the original part, and then told our tech when he called a second time about the part that he needed to return it and then they would order a second part. How hard is it to order the right part the first time?!
During this whole ordeal we requested to speak to managers, none of whom called us back. After sending several upset emails to their claims department requesting some kind of update, as their reps just kept telling us the claim was in progress, we were directed to a Claim Support rep who called us once and then never returned our phone calls after that. The most infuriating part of this whole situation was the one conversation we did get to have with a manager. The manager put me on speakerphone and had his co-workers laughing at our conversation. He even told me that I needed to be the responsible homeowner and be prepared for my AC to break. Isn't this why I have a contract with HMS? I was only taken off speakerphone when I threatened to pull my contract with them. This isn't the first incident we've had with HMS, but it is the most severe. We are not happy with our contract and will not be renewing.

He looks at it after almost two hours of trying to put this clutch in and me having to help him. He kept trying to turn the bearing clockwise to line it up on the shaft. He didn't realize that the same would spin counterclockwise.
He then goes out to the van, gets his laptop, comes in the house, then says, "They ordered the wrong clutch, that's why it won't fit. So I got the right one. I'm ordering, it's coming in. You'll have it this coming Thursday and then we'll come back and we'll put it in." I said "Fine." Then he left. Thursday, clutch shows up. I looked at it, I compared the numbers on the clutch, they're identical! And so with that, a third technician shows up. He takes the whole tub out. He was very good and precise in what he was doing. He wanted to find out why it was that this wasn't fitting into the bottom of the tub to receive the male end, which would have been the female end on the washing tub. But yet, it clearly stated in the instructions "if your model doesn't accept the male end of this, take the donut off of it and then install it (this is what I'm telling the second technician to do to start with.)"
So the third technician puts it in and tells me, "You're not gonna like what you'll hear." I said, "What?" He said, "Well you see this ring all around the inside? That's an indication that your bearings are shot in this tub and along with the bearings, the transmission is on its way out as well. You need a new transmission, new bearings, blah blah blah. Comes up to almost $1300. They called TotalProtect, TotalProtect is going to deny because they only take it so far and then after they get to the bearings, they stop. Now, that’s BS in my opinion because they advertise, “If we can’t fix it, we’ll replace it.” So I called them and I was so irate and upset over this matter that the lady I spoke to said she would get a supervisor or floor manager return my call and then we’d go from there and we would discuss it. I thanked her and we hung up the phone.
TotalProtect claims this is fixed. However when I can’t hear my TV in the living room because my washing machine’s bearings are shot, the transmission is going out on it, and then they say that’s fixed, I have a problem with that. To give credit to them, they have tried to reach me, but at this point in time and at this stage in my life and at my age and my health, I don’t want to deal with it. It’s just not worth it. So today I called my bank and I cancelled my debit payment, they're being pulled out. I'm done and will never get anymore insurance like this again because it basically is a rip-off.

We had a problem with our HVAC system so I called up HMS Warranty on their contact number. They came out, checked out the system, told us what was wrong with it. They said they'd see about replacing part of the system and that it was such an old system they might go ahead and replace it. So when they came to replace the indoor unit, they went ahead and replaced the outdoor unit as well. So we got our whole new HVAC system for less than having to pay for a whole system outright.

The people I've spoken to at HMS has been very clear and upfront. They explained my options and told me what I needed to do during my claim and most of the technicians they sent out have been very good, with the exception of one and that's the last one that I'm dealing with. They haven't even called back after I've called several times so I went and called somebody else to deal with it and I paid for it. But it’s not the warranty company's fault, it’s the plumber’s fault who’s just lousy.
Except for this last incident with the plumber, the quality of work of the technicians has been excellent. I used the warranty a lot this last year. The people that worked with the heating system were very clear and understandable in what they expect they're going to have to do and it all worked after they've left. They even followed up and checked on it too so I've been very pleased with that.

Submitting claims with TotalProtect is very easy to do. But every time we get into a claim, we have to go through a bunch of hoops or find the people for them. The big deal is that it takes such a long time to get through a claim because we don't have the vendors in our area. I guess in more populated areas than where we are, they automatically have vendors that already exist. In addition to that, it would be nice if they had an electronic way to reimburse instead of waiting for 4-8 weeks for our check. We recently submitted a claim for our hot water heater. It went bad and we got a replacement so that went very well but we had to find our own guy and pay the whole thing and then get reimbursed but the reimbursement time was kind of long.
But overall I like the program. I would recommend TotalProtect. All the technicians they sent out have been good (except for the Sears guy with the dryer repair.) I just wish those couple of things were more improved.

They're quick and easy when you call up and file a claim. The tech was good except that he didn't have the part that I need. My air conditioning line has a leak in it and he didn't have any of the leak stuff to clog it. He said next time he comes back, he would bring it. So I thought it was kind of weird because it was like, "how do you know you're coming back?" He could've just said, "Look, I don't have anything with me. I'll just stop by on a day that I have it." But that's the only weird thing. Anyway it's 102 degrees right now outside. In my house it's 75, so I guess the air conditioner is working.

Submitting a claim with TotalProtect Home Warranty was fine. The person that I talked to was prompt, answered the questions, and told me what was going to happen. I'm perfectly happy with that part of it. The technician that came to service my appliance was confident. He got through when he said he would and did what he said he would. No complaints about him.
My only complaint about the whole operation is the delay between their assigning someone to fix it and the technicians getting here to fix it. But that's probably more the contractor's problem than theirs. For example, if I had a problem with a hot water heater, say, if it was leaking, I realize that calling on a Thursday or Friday makes it hard to do anything very fast. It takes them three or four days to get here. If it wasn't fixed immediately, so then we would have lost a little water but we wouldn't have run out of hot water. But if it were something serious, say, a furnace in the winter, I really shouldn't have to wait until Tuesday. We'd have frozen to death waiting for them. But as far as their product is concerned, I'm very happy with it.

We had repairs on our air conditioner and it was very pricey and we just had a pool installed and thought we would probably need some home owner's just in case, so we contacted HMS. My husband did the homework and he is very particular. He saw that HMS has the best deductible and also coverage wise. It covered a lot of the home thing. He likes that and how HMS use small businesses usually that come in and do the repair.
We submitted the first claim online and it was very easy. The website was great and they gave us the reference number right away. The second time when it happened again with the other AC, I called the 800 number and talked to a representative and they were very friendly, nice and cooperative. I am in the process of working with HMS on a claim. I am very dissatisfied with the whole process. They sent out a guy who arrived in a plain white van, made me give him a check for $100.00 (my deductible) and not fill in the Paid To line. This is after he said he needed to order a condenser coil and would get back with me. After 12 days I received a call from HMS saying they would pay for the coil, but there were other costs that would not be covered by warranty. They want another $385.00 to complete the repair. That was after I was told I would never have to pay more than my deductible for any single repair.
So in essence I am being asked to pay almost $500.00 to repair the AC, which is most likely in the neighborhood of what I would have had to pay without the so-called warranty. It seems to me the repair guy got together with HMS to decide what they could charge (outside the warranty) and that is the bill I received. They also gave me the option to receive a credit towards another company doing the job-which is the way I am leaning. In short, if it sounds too good to be true (like only having to pay $100.00 for any repair) then it likely is. Don't waste your money with HMS!!!

It's always been easy when submitting a claim with TotalProtect. I just call and they take care of it over the phone. I've used them two or three times over the years. Their claims representatives have always been good and helpful. The technicians that came to service our appliance have always been qualified. They come out within a couple of days when I call. They seem to always know their business and I've never had any problems with one at all. In fact, at one time, I had a garage door break a spring and the tech and his son came out on a holiday and fixed it. They always give good service.
The last time I called, they had a hard time lining up somebody for me and getting somebody to come out here in a short period of time because they were back there for something. The first rep I talked to said they couldn't get anybody sent out for a week. I said, "Oh my gosh!" When I called again, one of the girls said, "We'll try to find you someone a little sooner than a week." And so they did. They're good at what they do. The only problem I had one time was when I had a plumbing repair that needed to be done, and I didn't realize that my contract didn't carry the sewer line, so that's the only time I had a claim turned down.
My overall experience with TotalProtect has been good and I'm glad I got it because we have things happen every now and then. Right now, I've been dealing six weeks with a water spill caused by the washing machine. A guy came out to fix the washing machine. It was just a minor thing, but if the water overflowed, it would cost thousands of dollars in the house.

The next day we call him again and received a phone voice message stating they are not accepting any calls and when he did return our call he stated we lived too far out. The Customer Service Rep explained they needed to contact another contractor and call us back. In the meatime we are without AC waiting for someone in CS to call us back losing time from work and money. Based on this experience with TP I will not be renewing this contract. I have had Home Warranty service for 8 years with other providers and none... none of them gave us this run around for service. I recommend using the monthly payment plan so if the home warranty service is not up to part at least you are not out of $100.00s of dollars.
