We went with HMS Home Warranty because my mother-in-law said they were a good company. When submitting a claim with them, they're always pretty good, quick, and they get it done. I haven't had any problems. Their reps were professional and did what they were supposed to do. Their technicians have always been really good...The last one was outstanding. I appreciate the service they give because I'm going to leave a company if I don't like their service. I have recommended them.

For the most part, it has gone well though I have had a couple of negative experiences where a claim has been rejected. The first one is with my Bosch Dryer. I was charged the full amount and had to pay the repairman because they said it was maintenance. Then the same thing happened also with a different repairperson that they sent who actually found what the initial problem was which was the pump. It was replaced and I haven't had a problem, but I did have to pay out of pocket the first time I called to have it fixed.

Then recently with the dishwasher, I had it repaired last year and it was working and then just within 12 months, the dishwasher seized. It turned out that it was a piece of tool that might have been used to fix it in the first place fell into the motor. When the repairperson found it and took it out, I was told that was a maintenance issue and I had to pay the repairman when in fact it was debris left by the initial repairman from last year. Those two occurrences really bothered me.

The last thing is I had an air conditioning heating unit replaced with a similar model because the model of my unit is already phased out. I got a call from that repairman this week saying he had not received payment. Apparently, he lays out the money and then TotalProtect has to pay him back. It has been a month and a half and he still didn't get his money. He asked me to call TotalProtect to follow up on it, which I did. He was a very honest repairman so I feel badly that as a service provider, he had to call me as the client to help in his collection. Outside of those three circumstances, I had this TotalProtect policy for a year and it has been mostly great.

I had a different home warranty provider the first two years I had my home and realized that it was a waste of money because all of my appliances had the two-year warranty. So when my bank payment came with something from TotalProtect, it reminded me that I didn't have a home warranty so I got it.

I like their new automated system more than speaking with the representative, which I think is not working out. But they're very professional. I have no complaints. The only thing I don't like is the services department that always works toward the end of the window. However they do give a call and set it up at some arrival time that they like. But overall I think they did a great job.

The claims representatives of TotalProtect are fantastic. They're really concerned about our needs and make sure that we are taken care of with the local contractors. The technicians they send out are all nice and timely. If the unit is not repaired, it was definitely replaced. The replacements came soon so that we wouldn't be without, which was great. TotalProtect has always been good. I just wish the fee was a little lower, but for what you're getting and what's replaced, I suppose that it's sufficient. I'm pleased with them.

I have been a member for years. I had 2 claims - one for an air conditioner compressor and one for the refrigerator, and I've had no problems. I just grab the book and call the number and talk to somebody and within a day or two, they’ll have someone out here to look at it. I’d give him $75, to advance, and they come and make the appraisal and so forth and see what needs to be done and then they call back and the arrangements are made to take care of the situation. The technicians I've had to come out before are ones from areas who are very experienced with whatever I'm dealing with. Like for the refrigerator, Sears came out. I generally tell people about TotalProtect when I have the opportunity because I think it’s a pretty good deal. I appreciate the company.

HMS representatives are always very nice when I submit my claims but I have different experiences with the technicians that come out. The person that does the furnace is fine, I have not had any problem with him. So far they're the only ones I've called; I'm fixing our electric. But when I called about plumbing and the guy came out. He checked it and he said it was the vent and it was going to be thousands of dollars. I gave him $100 for coming out. They told me they gave free estimates and I wasn't to pay anything at all. I kept calling them but they never would answer. Then they answered and I told them I need to have this done.

Since they never would come over, I called Plumb Time and they came over. The guy was very nice and professional and went out and fixed it within 20 minutes. I had to pay him $300-something. So not only was the first contractor wrong, but they gave me a wrong diagnosis and it wasn't the vent. So I told HMS to not use the first contractor. I suggested that they use Plumb Time -- it's not a big corporation but it's not a little mom-and-pop shop either. It's the technicians that I had problems with but with HMS there's only been one time where I guess the lady was training so she didn't know some of the answers but other than that, everything's been great.

TotalProtect has always been excellent. I've usually dealt with them over the phone and they've always been very good and responsive in the claims process. There was this one time when the technicians thought that TotalProtect wouldn't pay a claim. I was confident they will and when the technician called back 20 minutes later, he confirmed that indeed TotalProtect would cover it. I thought the tech must do a lot of warranty work for various warranty companies to have to think that. But TotalProtect's very good. I wonder if some of the other warranty services aren't nearly as good.

My realtor was the one who wanted to go with HMS Home Warranty because she wanted me to have a really good home warranty. HMS has been easy to work with. The last time I called them, it ended up being my thermostat when I run my heater. It was cold out. It was after hours, and I called. The claims representative was very nice. She put me in touch with the contractor. She made the phone calls for me and told me I would hear back from that person within thirty minutes. Well, I didn't. So I called back and told HMS what was going on, and they gave me the phone number to call the place directly myself.

I finally got a hold of someone. The contractor said he was on the phone with them and he had to make sure that they were willing to pay for him to come out after hours, and HMS did, which was awesome. The guy showed up very nice. He did a couple of tests and figured out what it was, fixed it, and it was super nice. He took his time and I'm more than happy. There have been times when I thought "I'm done. I don't want to do this anymore." But I'm always glad when I send that check in, that I'm covered.

We had this problem before. It leaked last year and they sent out a person and they filled it up but it just happened again. I want to get it fixed and so if there's a process for fixing that and an assurance that there's a leak or not then I would hope that they would authorize it. If it happens again then I may ditch them because they don't fulfill their coverage. Let's see what happens...

on 3/13/2015 I called in a claim for my stove, washer and dryer (stove bottom coil was not heating, washer was not wanting to Juvenate , and dryer was making noise but drying as it should) I was told, I would pay a one time deductible of $85 for all service for the claim, witch included all 3 appliances. The tec for the washer and dryer came first and took my deductible and proceeded to check out my washer, he then came upstairs and told me he needed to order parts, that wouldn't be in till Thursday (6 days after i called the claim in), so he left my washer, with wires hanging out/front pannel off all those days! He also told me, that my dryer needed barrings and there was rust on upper and lower panel of dryer (the rust is cosmetic and though i'm a woman, know it does't effect the dryer doing it's job) but tec said parts to fix all issues would cost more than a new one (ended up refusing to fix dryer, when requested to go ahead and fix what was covered )

Now for the tec. for the stove.....He requested the breaker be turned off (understandable) but my daughter didn't know witch one, so he flipped it off and he put in a new coil for the stove. He then requested the breaker be turned back on (the breaker did not flip back on), so he tester if there was electric going to the outlet (none was going to it), so he said i would need an electrician b4 he could check if stove worked , but was pretty sure it would. I then called Total Protect and they said, They would send out an electrician after they got back the report and it should only take about 45 min. to do so, as they were sending in a request. I asked if i needed to pay another $85 deductible and they said NO it would be counted as the original claim, No additional deductible! I continued to call every day and same story (they still didn't get the report back on the stove) on Wednesday (5 days after original call) i'm told, that i DO have to pay a deductible of $85!!! Mind you.....My daughter and I are disabled and to be on a strict diet. yet had to go out to eat because i could not cook (fast foods exacerbates our disability) and our going out to eat was an extra expense (i have 3 children and myself to feed) this costing more than the $85 deductible! So all in all.....I had to go to the laundry mat , because i didn't have a washer for 6 days (cost $35) out to eat (cost $175 for just those 5 days) ,but STILL refuses to fix it unless I pay the deductible (i'm on Social Security and can't afford to, now all my money spent on eating out and microwave food) I asked Total protect to review phone recordings of me being told there would be NO DEDUCTIBLE and they said they would, but i still will have to pay regardless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No Concern for there customers / only want to line there pockets it seems!! !

The customer service people have been very helpful. I've even called them at like 6:00 in the morning and I have no problems with them, customer service has been excellent. Very, very, very satisfied and we have had multiple claims in just a short amount of time. All of their technicians were good except one. We had a heating problem and the first person on the choice for them to call wasn't available, so they sent Wissels, which I think we had to get down to the person on the list and these people were so bad. After three times, they still could not diagnose the problem. So in a period of ten days, we had no heat for three of those days. So then finally, I called again on the fourth time and I said, "Three strikes, you're out. I want someone else."

They sent someone else, they sent Frederick Air Heating & Air Conditioning. Within ten minutes, the technician diagnosed the problem, went and got the parts, and we had heat again within three hours and we haven't had a problem since. But the first company that came out, Wissels, was absolutely horrible. In fact, the technician brought his wife along with him and she sat in my couch and played games on her phone. It was absolutely ridiculous. He was here three times in ten-day period and he couldn't figure out what the problem was. He kept saying, "Well, maybe it's just this or maybe it's that." Then he changed the thermostat and the next morning, we woke up to a fifty-degree house again. So that's when I called and said, "You need to send me someone else." We had to pay a second deductible but at that point, we didn't care.

But that Wissels, they should never use that Wissels - never ever, ever. They are just the worst. In fact, we called him 8:00 in the morning and he shows up at 6:00 at night, and we had no heat in our house. It was bad. But with HMS, I had no problem with them. They were very good, very understanding. I'd be happier if they said, "Okay. We'll give you your deductible back the second time since the first people weren't able to fix it in three tries." That, I think, would be something that maybe they could do to help us.

This was done under "acting reasonable " to stop any further damage. I then call the warranty company and explain what and why I did this. They had me to call one of "their" companies. He checked and said the compressor was bad and needed to be replaced. After a month and a half of emails and phone calls they said it was denied before it had been worked on and modified - which it had not - only disconnected to prevent further damage. According to the person I spoke with who claim she was over all the home warranties I should have let it do the damage and not disconnected it. Which if I had I would have to pay for a complete a/c system instead of just the compressor since they will not pay for anything. It seams for certain their policy is deny-deny-deny until the customer gets tired and goes away. This is their no-customer service for a policy holder of the last 5 years. I guess that they taught me a lesson about trusting a home warranty company. You give them all your money and you get nothing in return....I advise people to watch them.

And they certainly are! TotalProtect did the exceptional on anything you can ask for. The first claim I had took a long time to get the part but this may have been just a vendor issue and not TotalProtect's problem because TotalProtect made the referral right away. The second claim for my heat was okay and the vendor that I used last time was really wonderful.

The only thing is that I got a burner on my stove that's not heating -- it's not firing up, it won't go too high. The last vendor said TotalProtect won't let him replace it yet unless it is totally not working. It has to be completely out in order to be replaced. Right after that, I felt like calling in another client because I cannot use that burner. Aside from that experience, I'm satisfied with TotalProtect overall. We've had TotalProtect home warranty for years, since we bought this house. Submitting claims with them using the online process is really easy. There's been a couple of times I've had to call customer service to get assistance but most of the time I've been able to do everything online. They provide me with the contact information and it's really simple. We've had some pretty good technicians that have come to our home...We've had some okay ones. The quality of work they performed is pretty good. This last one -- he really did a pretty good job with the last claim we had. The problem was that two or three times I've had to call him back to make a change or do something else.

The other time we did have a problem with them was when they came and fixed our air conditioner. The technician put the unit back together wrong. So my husband had to go in and change it because he reversed the wire to make the fan blow in the opposite direction from what it was supposed to. We didn't find that out until our electric bill was sky high and we couldn't figure out why the machine was making so much noise. But most of our experience with TotalProtect has been very good.

I decided to go with HMS when it was offered even though I knew there were different groups out there since some friends of mine who have also recently bought property said they were good to go with. In the beginning, it was sometimes tedious to go through all their phone prompts just to be able to talk to somebody. Everybody who came here to address the claims have been very professional and polite - they were in and out with no problems. The plumbers who came to do the hot water tank last time even cleaned up their mess and took the bad hot water tank with them. Overall, HMS is okay and easy to deal with.

We've had home warranty companies before where people looked so bad when they arrive at the front door that you don't even want them to come in. We've had other companies where they arrived in marked vehicles with uniforms on and did everything great, and then just one day the company decides to shut the door. So we've had various experiences with the home warranty companies out here. That's why I go through the mortgage company or my bank for their recommendation. When the home warranty company we had before decided to get out of its agreement with AAA, the rates went way up so I said "the heck with that" and called my mortgage companies and the banks. One of them recommended TotalProtect to us.

There's only been one claim made and the experience we had is kind of mixed. The water heater went out on a Saturday and I called, and TotalProtect named the company that we were supposed to call on Monday. This was fine for me but not for my wife...She wanted to be able to wash her hair before we went to church on Sunday. So I called them back and said, "We'll pay the overtime if necessary. We gotta get the thing in." The company that we were supposed to call never called back on Monday. And so we called and they said, "Nobody's called."

Then TotalProtect found Do It Right. They never called back and it was still the weekend, and Do It Right called back and actually stopped by on Sunday. It was out in the field, no extra charge. And then I called back a couple of times to TotalProtect because of zoning issues or code changes...There was going to be some additional hook-ups stuff that needed to be done. And they wouldn't accept my wife saying yes...I had to say yes.

Then they kept saying, "24-48 hours." And I kept asking, "Why?" It turns out TotalProtect's procedure is to send the item to the plumber. The plumber just doesn't take one in stock or go get one from some place. So it was Friday and it's almost a full week without hot water. The people at Do It Right are great. Turned out we had some common interests -- all Christians. We really enjoyed having them come over to fix the heater. But they were stuck with having to have the items sent to them before they could bring it and put it in. That's what delayed it further.

My wife was so unhappy with the delay. But she was very happy to meet the people at Do it Right. If we ever have to make another claim and it's related to plumbing, we'll ask if Do It Right can be sent out again. It's just that, again, I don't understand this having to send the items to the plumber which puts the delay in before he can get out and do his work. There may be a cost-saving in all this by having a centralized buying and then providing the item. I'm sure there's a reason for this but I had never heard of it before. And then we also didn't appreciate the fact that they referred us to a company that didn't bother to call back.

So we had a mixed experience with the contractors that they sent and the delay due to their sending the item to the plumber before he can install it. But the Do It Right guys they sent out were so nice. We didn't even get charged for the disposal fee, and he didn't charge us for coming out on Sunday. We're really happy about that. The other company was not even returning our phone calls. They couldn't even get to speed when trying to call the company and they wouldn't answer the call. I hope they take them off their list.

The company is always on point. Three weeks ago, my thermostat broke. I called a plumber and he was very accommodating even though it was snowing that day and he had to finish other jobs. He also saw that my furnace needs cleaning so he offered to clean it the following Monday, which is covered by TotalProtect. I also encountered a problem on Sunday when I had a busted pipe above my computer. I called him again and he sent me another plumber within the hour and fixed my problem. A lot of people envy me because of TotalProtect. I may spend $400 to $500 a year but at the end of the day, one or two calls that I make pays itself. It’s more about having that protection that somebody is going to come and help me. That to me is priceless.

It was only after I called and waited awhile that I found out that my claim was not covered. They really need to make sure they tell people whether a claim is covered rather than having a repair person come and people paying the $100 deductible. This is the only issue we've ever had with them.

Their claims reps are knowledgeable, courteous and accurate. I was also glad the technicians sent out knew what they were doing and took care of whatever the problem was. And after they look, they could tell me if they could fix it and advise me on what to do. I had an electrician told me they had some inaccurate wiring in the house and so he prepared it for me so it was good experience. After each repair, all worked and are still working... except for one of my air condition. It had been repaired a couple of times, but there was a time it couldn't be repaired so I had to get a new one, and TotalProtect helped me get a new one.

It didn’t take long though while I was talking with him that I find out he was very personable, very professional, and definitely knowledgeable on what he was doing. But I was a little bit disappointed in how much they charged for what they referred to as additional labor to match up the furnace with the existing gas work and also the electrical and the gas piping. I would have thought those would have been part of any installation. But overall I was glad that they actually covered the cost of the furnace that was replaced.

HMS Home Warranty is good. My furnace stopped working so I submitted a claim and they gave me the name of the contractor. I called him to set up an appointment but turns out they couldn't come until the following day. The wind chill was 20 below so I had to get the furnace going. I ended up having to get somebody else to go over just to get the furnace going, which was a maintenance company for the property management people that I use. They came back and told me I needed all these parts for my furnace and then when the HMS guy went over and I showed him what they told me that the furnace needed, he told me I don't need any of those. I'm glad that they told me! I didn't end up throwing parts at the furnace that it didn't need just so this other person could make money.

Then the repair went well except for two little issues. First, the contractor never contacted me to tell me what his findings were. I ended up having to call him to ask what the problem was with the furnace. Second, I didn't get a confirmation email that the work order is closed from HMS. I asked the contractor if I will get an email, and he said, "No, they don't email." If I hadn't called him, I never would've known that the work order was closed. But other than those, there were no problems with the repair. HMS saved me almost $500 from the other guy.

Sometimes I had to call the company to set up an appointment. Other times they call and then that company would call me to set up a time. But I've been pleased, I've never had a problem. The only thing was that I didn't realize icemakers weren't covered and I called because of the icemaker one time. I was upset because they didn't say to me, "Oh, that's not covered", I said "it was the icemaker." And then the guy came out, I paid $75 and he said, "You need a new icemaker", and so He is the one that told me, "Well, your icemaker is not covered." Then I went and I looked back to all of the pamphlets and saw that icemakers weren't covered. So I paid $75 and I never got the icemaker replaced.

Their technicians have all been pretty good and their quality of work on the whole was definitely good. When we had the air conditioner replaced, there were certain issues where I had to call them back out again after they installed it because there was something to do. There was a problem with the electrical and the city inspector wouldn't sign off on it so they had to come back out. And then a short time after that I called them in and they had to send somebody out again because the air conditioner wasn't working and I had a house full of company. Things have been quite wonderful with TotalProtect. Their response to every filed claim is very good, quick, and professional. I was very impressed. However I had one issue with the garbage disposal claim. I wasn't too pleased because they didn't replace the silver ring in the sink. They had put a brand new disposer and they left the old ring chocked even though it comes with a ring in the box. They said "Oh, that's not broken so we didn't fix that." We actually need to get another contract with them for another house that we need to get insured. I would highly recommend TotalProtect.

I've been with TotalProtect for a long time. I think I discovered them through Bank of America who had my mortgage. It was convenient for me to pay my bills through the bank and it was being received that way with the payment, and I needed some protection for the home so I had to go with TotalProtect because it was reason enough for me to pay them the monthly amount and it was also attached to my mortgage payment at the time.

Submitting a claim with them is quick. The reps were on top of things. A lot of times when you call and you try and put a claim in, they ask you the number over and over again - just the rhetorical stuff, over and over again. But when I talk to them, they're alert. They understand and feel concerned about my equipment when it goes down and try to get the help for me as soon as possible. The technicians they sent out were very friendly and knowledgeable and the quality of work was performed to my expectations. In fact, they were so good that I had set up an appointment for them to come and see me annually. I'm satisfied.

HMS is a must-have for homeowners. It has a fairly easy claim process. You just call it in and tell them what the issue is. They ask for the model of the appliance and if there's any appliance that I want to get checked out, and pretty much put it in. What I only don't like about the process is that sometimes if I have to call myself the company that they are grouped with to come out and do the service. They don't always call back so that process can sometimes take too long. If I have a warranty, I shouldn't have to call after I call in to make sure that I can get the warranty service performed on whatever is broken in the house. The process should be the same every time I have to call in and hey should do the rest of the footwork.

Other than that the contractors that have been here have been good. One of them came from Sears and they always have good people that they send out, no issues. They inspect the house and know what they're doing and the appliance. If they can't fix it, they let you know and they're in and out. I definitely would recommend them.

I just showed them where it was and told them what the problem was and they said, "Thank you very much", fixed it and told us what was going on and what happened. I wrote them a check for the amount that wheeled on it which was less than what the deductible was because they said they didn't meet that deductible and they went. We haven't had any problem getting appliances in our home replaced. We haven't had to haggle with anybody. It’s always been an easy process. It’s just paid off for us. However, HMS raised their price about a year ago and it went up substantially at the time, so I was a little disappointed. I understand that prices go up, but it was around 33% increase so it was a big jump at one time. But other than that, HMS has been very useful for us and we have recommended them.

I'm a realtor and I found HMS to be very good. I have tried other companies but I really feel that their follow-up is exceptional - they keep after it, make sure everything is done and that I'm covered. The only problem I had is that HMS doesn't cover faucet repair. I had a leak underneath the sink so the technician came out and found that it was the faucet that was leaking. But since it isn't covered, everything stopped. I felt it was ridiculous since he was already there and it could have been done in an hour. Plus once he started working on it, the pipe system literally fell apart because evidently the faucet had deteriorated. Now there's no water in that room unless I do something else to clear the problem and I'm finding this situation really difficult. It feels like a silly thing for the faucet not to be covered so I hope they add that in. However, I'd still recommend HMS to people.

I'm in the real estate business so other than getting people to sign up for this, I got HMS for my own property. In my personal experience when submitting claims with my house, the first time around they were helpful. It wasn't really their fault particularly but they have certain contractors that they work with, and I have a unique system at my house. It's a boiler that actually heats the water, which in turn deals with my heating system and its several zones.

I explained this to HMS when they were going to call their contractor to make sure that their contractor worked on this kind of system because I didn't want to wait for somebody to come down to fix the thing, and then when they come down here, for them to say that they don't do this system and don't know how it works. I ended up getting somebody that called first and said they do this system, then called back HMS to say that it was out of their area. So HMS found another person who came to the house, but that was also not a system he knew how to work on. Finally, I got so tired and said, "I'm going to go ahead and get a person to do it," and I did. HMS was very generous and reimbursed me. After that, whenever I had to call for a problem for this particular system, they've called that company and it's been very efficient since then because those people know the system.

It’s not too hard to submit a claim with HMS but as far as getting them done when you need it done, that’s another issue. The people I’ve been talking to on the phone haven’t been doing what they say they’re supposed to be doing on their side. I had an issue with a furnace, and they couldn’t get anybody to fix it. I had to wait a day on that. I currently have another issue with just a water pipe. I called yesterday to file a claim and the lady who was very nice on the phone said “call back after two hours and I’m putting this on emergency status.” I called back two hours later and the other person that answered the phone said “nope, nothing’s been done on this. Nothing went to dispatch. There was no emergency put on it.” So it was just kind of upsetting that I don’t have the company again coming out until sometime today.

Every time I try to work with them on the phone and try to get something handled, it’s just “oh we can’t do that, we can’t do this.” That was not good customer service and frustrating. When you ask to speak to somebody else, they get off the phone with you for a few minutes and then come back on and say “this is what I can do.” Would be nice if I’d be able to get a manager or somebody on the phone that can do something or explain things better.

TotalProtect was heaven-sent. When I built my home down here in Alabama, I took it out through Regions Bank and they sent a TotalProtect flyer in with their literature. Regions Bank said, "Well, your house is 17 years old now. You want to have some insurance on it." I said, "Well, I’m the mechanic here. I fix everything that breaks, so let me look into it."

It has been most profitable for me and TotalProtect is a good program. I had a problem with the refrigerator and there’s a vendor that I use down here, Air Doctor, which is very, very good and they had to replace some type of a heater in there for the defroster. He came in and he fixed all that, and it didn't quite work. He came back and finished it. The gas range acted up and he fixed that too. This past month, the blower on the oven went and my wife has been complaining about the dryer not working. He came in and he fixed both of them.

The technician communicated with us extremely well, told us what the problems were and fixed them. He also ensured that there wasn’t another problem working -- that they haven't got to come back for another call. He did his work very complete. I used to manage technicians in IBM and I'd say I'd hire him in a heartbeat because he's good. It's a very good service and I think the attitude that was portrayed to the technician was to do a good job. He was comfortable working with TotalProtect, knowing that he was totally supported by them.

While they were servicing my equipment, the technician was working for another vendor putting in and fixing a heater. It was freezing with 20 degrees and so letting them fix it, they had to analyze the cost of the parts and where to find the cheapest. It was cold for three days and he said, "I can't work on it. They're not going to pay me if I do it. But the people you got, they fix the problem and take care of everything." That’s quite a statement from the technician servicing me at my home. Today, it's 72 degrees and my air conditioning is working extremely well. I want it to keep going that way. Otherwise, I call my Air Doctor after I call TotalProtect and say, "Could you send Air Doctor out to me?"

So right now this insurance is very beneficial. The work has been done professionally and I'm very happy. I can't believe TotalProtect would offer a service like this -- it's wonderful.

My husband had TotalProtect on his home previously so we chose them because of its cost and services covered under the plan. We had positive interactions with their reps. They were very helpful and connected me to providers that could come out to my home to address the issue. Their techs were professional and courteous, and their quality of work was fine. I’ve referred other people to TotalProtect.

HMS came with our home and so far, I've only submitted one claim. They were excellent both in providing the service and the contractors for the work that we needed done in a timely manner, so I was certainly pleased with it. They made that whole issue hassle free.

Submitting claims with HMS was never a problem. It's just that with the last claim I filed, the repairman started in that day and came back the same day to check everything. He found what the problem was, submitted the information, and we heard from HMS in three days. He called me and that's when I called HMS. But it's probably a glitch in their system and I don't think it's anybody's fault. It's good that we stuck with HMS that the real estate agent recommended when I bought the house.

Everything went smoothly with HMS and the work was done. There was a little concern about some of the vendors that sometimes they have a hard time getting through to get approval but all went through so that’s all good.

We're in the army and we had a warranty program in our house in Missouri. When I moved to North Carolina, TotalProtect was the company that covered the state. I never have an issue with them. We always get good service. They always send somebody out within 24 hours and it's always pretty much awesome service. I do things online now. I just click a couple of buttons and it sends me an e-mail of who I need to contact. This company is customer service-oriented and we're always connecting with TotalProtect. Seamless and fabulous.

When I bought the house, the people who owned it put HMS warranty on there and so we had one year for the appliances in case anything happened to it. We've been in the house for a year and didn't have any problems with them. I submitted the claims online and it was pretty easy and fast. The contractor sent by HMS was okay. First, they wanted Home Depot and we live too far away. They didn't even consider coming this far. I guess he's the only one that's in our area. We had a run-in with him when we first moved in - I was a little hesitant but everything worked out fine. The work was done in a short period of time because I had somebody call me and say, "It's been two days since you submitted your claim. Have you had it taken care of?" I didn't. So there was somebody there to help me. It was very good.

My furnace began making horrible noises (sounds like a train rumbling through our home when the heat kicks in) last week and prior to the noise starting we felt reduced air flow (heat) from the vents.

I called Cross Country and explained the situation. They sent a tech on 02/28/15 from Edwards Plumbing and Heating to our home who was rude and passive aggressive (asked him to please remove his shoes which he did, but then scowled - and proceeded not to talk to me).

When the tech decided to talk at the end of the visit, he said that the bearings were bad and would need to be replaced but first he would need to talk with the insurance company to see if they would cover the claim. We asked him if it was safe to use the furnace and he said that it "should be unless it overheats."

We were informed the following day that our claim was denied because the furnace was mechanically sound - that it was functioning. I asked Ebony (Cross Country supervisor) to please explain how the insurance company deemed it mechanically sound? If an appliance is making a tremendous noise and has reduced output (heat), how is that mechanically sound? Ebony told me that they won't replace bearings due to noise. What about reduced heat? She said that the tech didn't indicate that.

The leasing agent threw in the HMS policy when I first purchased my home. So far, I've requested services but I haven't submitted any actual reimbursement. I know I was allowed a reimbursement for a service for the furnace the first year. Since I didn't have any issue, you're allowed to have a service call and they would reimburse for that but I did not submit that but was told that they will do so. And three other times, I called in. It was pertaining to actual service repairs and with that, I had to pay a $100 deductible, so there is no claim to submit. I would recommend them.

I was with another warranty company that I became quite dissatisfied with because it got to the point they were trying to deny almost every claim I had. So I left and went with TotalProtect and so far I’m quite happy. I had one small problem and they were able to take care of everything. Everybody was friendly and the work was done. I would definitely recommend TotalProtect Home Warranty. In fact I referred somebody to them last week.

When we purchased the home, HMS Home Warranty was included with one year left. Unfortunately right after we moved in we used the washing machine and it broke so we called HMS to submit a claim. We had a wonderful experience. I appreciate that everybody made it easy for us. Sometimes the representatives are busy but I understand that everywhere is busy if you have more and more customers.

So overall I’m really satisfied with everything that I did with HMS. It’s the second time we’ve renewed with them and it’s gonna be renewed again in May. We renewed with them because of the promise of "peace of mind" and it’s a good promise to me because it’s really peace of mind that I don’t have to worry about anything. Also they gave me really good options. Like you can make the $500 payment or just one payment. Or you can add the $50 extra to reduce your deductible $50 instead of $100 dollars.
