My overall experience with HMS Home Warranty was good. I would recommend them.

They had to order a part so the technician had to come back a second time so there was a little bit of a wait of about a week which I understand. But other than that the process of submitting the claim was pretty smooth. The technician was a nice young man. He did the work efficiently and no problem so far since the repair was made.
I've been with the TotalProtect for quite a few years and I find them easy to deal with. Sometimes the technicians/companies don't get back to you as quickly as you want. But I make phones calls and I realize sometimes people have to sequence their appointments.

I went online to submit a claim to HMS and it's super easy. I called once and then the guys would come out to fix everything. Also we had one where they had to come back and in essence fix it again and it was free of charge. The technicians were pretty helpful in giving me pointers for stuff I can look out for in the future. It’s pretty cool.

They had TotalProtect on the house when we bought it so we continued it. Submitting a claim has been pretty good until the air conditioning went out. It took them about three weeks before they could find the part for it. I feel like I was pushed back because I had to keep calling to find out what was going on, but the work was fine when the company got around to doing it. I recommended them to a friend because it just was a first tick off I had with them. They're doing pretty good.

I am now in the third week of negiotation with this company on the repair or preferably replace our air conditioner. We are being passed around like a hot rock. We live in Texas and this is the month of June; my husband has COPD with 27% lung capacity. He cannot take the heat or the humidity. We have been told that our case is being expedited but it doesn't feel like it.
At this point we want our air conditioner fixed or replaced and I feel like the company does not care about any problems my husband has with his health.

I'm a real estate agent and have been dealing with HMS Warranty for almost 16 years. Submitting a claim is fairly easy with them and I never had any major issues with their reps. Likewise, I never had any problems with any of their vendors. Although it would have been nice if they had options at the warranty owner's expense to upgrade choices that are limited by the warranty. Anyhow, I have been satisfied with HMS warranty and it's something that I continue to recommend to my clients.

Overall I'm very happy with them and I'm satisfied. But sometimes the price is a little too pricey. I took the enhanced TotalProtect and some of the work that people locally do here is cheaper than the co-pay that I have to pay. Also, sometimes the quality of the work is not good because I've had a leaky faucet for a while and every year and a half I have to get it re-fixed. I don't know if it's because it's old and have to be replaced or what...

It was easy to get started with HMS but I ended up having to wait over a month for the paperwork to be filed for me to get my ac unit. I was really disappointed because it was 80 degrees and I didn't have any ac. I was told multiple times that the paperwork was filed and that was going through purchasing. By the time I got the unit, the paperwork was actually filed two days before it was installed. So the whole time I was being told it was already done, in all reality it wasn't. But it's fine now, I'm going to keep the warranty.

I had HMS when I owned my very first house and the seller offered a warranty for a year with the closing. When I bought my second house, no warranty was included but I remember how good HMS was so I reached out to them. Customer reps are always helpful - they go beyond their call of duty. They make sure that the company calls me back. In addition, the last technician who installed my hot water heater was very, very nice. He stayed even though I think it was past the time to get off work and made sure everything was working correctly. It was great and I had no problem with their work.

Submitting a claim was very easy. However, it was all automated, I wish I would have been able to actually talk to somebody. We were only given a 1-800 number. But the technician was great. He called and came out right away. Unfortunately, he didn't have what he needed to fix everything but he was out as soon as he could when he got all the parts and pieces. It was wonderful. Overall, my experience with HMS was easy, convenient, and no hassle.

I called HMS Home Warranty for service on my air conditioning this past Sunday night. They came Tuesday and said that they needed a part to have it fixed. They also said that they would have to get in touch with HMS for approval, which they gave right away. Where the breakdown occurred was that they waited full 24 hours before they asked for the approval. It is already Thursday, and I still don't have any air conditioning in my house. I'm not so much blaming HMS but the air conditioning service contractor.

It was pretty easy to submit claims but I had an issue with one guy that they sent out from Sears. He spent three hours just on his computer and talking on the phone, without doing anything, except for ordering parts. I told him, "How come you can't just take the serial numbers and the model number down and go back to your office and look all the parts up and order them? Because I got things to do, I can't just sit around." He said, "I can't do that. I got to clear each item before I look into another one." I said that's ridiculous. Then he didn't come back out and the next time he fixed the range and fixed the dishwasher because he said it was installed wrong. I said, "Why didn't you say that the first time?" Then he took the parts and everything back with him.
Then HMS called me and I said, "He says it's wrong but it's not. I've seen a lot of them installed like that." He replied, "Well, you can just buy a new one." I answered, "I'm not buying a new one. Get somebody else and the other parts back out here again." So that's what he did. He found the other guy down the street and we told him the same thing. He said, "They install them like that all the time. There's nothing wrong with it." So he ordered the parts, came out and fixed it right away. And then they had some other guy out to fix the refrigerator and did a great job. Another thing I didn't like about HMS is that they want $100 for each room they go to. Why can't they choose one guy out to do everything one time for $100? But other than that, they were really great.

We thought about the age of some of our appliances and figured that a home warranty is an easier way to put away aside some money that can be used later on. We went with TotalProtect and over the period of time, we submitted three or four claims. Two of them were for the same thing about a year apart, but we've never had an issue. And the people we talk to are very, very friendly and know exactly who to contact to provide the service. I cant' say enough about them. Anyone that has been sent by TotalProtect, for the most part, have been quality people. They do the job, they know what they're doing and the job's done fairly quick. We live in a rural area but someone is usually out here after the call or within a week of that.
The most recent claim we had for our Samsung dishwasher. It had been repaired a year ago, and the same thing occurred. A gentleman from Sears came and he was very polite and in uniform. He spread out a blanket so the floor wouldn't be scratched; he also explained everything that he was doing, what he had found, and what needed to be done (which was some parts being ordered). It took about a week or so for the parts to get here and a couple of days after that, he was back. He finished the repair and it worked perfectly. Beyond that, this also guy went ahead and cleaned the stainless steel part of the dishwasher and refrigerator (even if the 2nd one was not part of the deal). He was a great guy.

This home warranty came with our home we purchased and have had nothing but issues with them. Our AC broke and they have sent out 3 different companies, all charging a deductible and our AC is still not fixed. Every time I call I have to wait 30 minutes and talk with a new person every time. I have asked to speak with supervisor several times and they still have not called us back after 10 days. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

The process of submitting claims with HMS is very efficient. The representatives are very professional and were concerned to resolve the matter in a very timely manner. The technicians deliver good quality service as well. In the winter time, I had an issue about the boiler being out and it was the day before Christmas. Someone came out and took care of it. I've had issues with the stove and refrigerator, and each time it was resolved. They were very courteous, trustworthy, with professional demeanor and not like someone who would just come from a local shop. 100% of the time, they have uniform and they have name tags, so they're recognizable. Without the service of HMS, I think that we'll be paying a lot of money for some of the things that we have to get resolved.

The claims representatives followed up on a few things and they've been extremely friendly and very nice. Sometimes they want to get a hold of me and they're constantly trying, so that's always nice. The technician that comes for the air conditioning is just a little strange. He has a weird personality.
About the quality of work, the air conditioning is working but it took a long time to get things finished up. He just had to replace the fan, and it took a couple days to get that. He just didn't have everything situated so it was another day before the air conditioner was working. But it finally got taken care of and I got cold air. Overall, they've been very fast. Things have been very convenient. There was just a lag with the people that come out.

I had a furnace problem in one of my units covered by Total Protect. They sent me a claim number and asked that I call Super Air and gave me the number. It took about 2 weeks for the serviceman to get out there and after the furnace almost blew up in his face he said that it needed replacing. Then he left. Never got a call back from either Total Protect or Super Air. Two months later I call Total Protect and they say I have to pay $525. for replacement. What happened to the $85. service fee and than you are covered? They said Oh, you have to pay $125. for the emergency shut off valve (hmmm...just turn and it's shut off) then you have to pay $200 for installation and then you have to pay $200 for fuel modification....What? I don't even know where to begin with all of the frustration I have with this company. I submitted a warranty claim for our air conditioner 18 days ago and they are still dragging this out with no relief in sight. HMS sent HVAC company #1 which diagnosed the problem. Because HMS wanted to order their own parts to save money, HVAC company #1 would not repair because they can't warranty the work using parts provided to them. It took a week of constant calls to HMS to get them to assign HVAC company #2 which diagnosed the same problem. I have been calling for days to get an answer on when our AC will be repaired. I'm on hold an hour each time.
After the service proposal was emailed to HMS 4 times, they continued to say they hadn't received it. Finally, today I talked with someone at HMS who actually confirmed receiving the service proposal. She said it will take 24-48 hours for them to decide what to do. What to do about what? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE just repair our air conditioning already!!! I am appalled with the actions, or lack thereof, of this company. It is so hot and humid in our house, we can hardly stand to be in it. How is it ok for a home warranty company to do this to people?!? Day 18 today. Wow... Just wow.

My AC has been out for over three weeks. We filed a claim when it first went out and the next day received a phone # for a technician. After calling him and leaving a message, it took another day for him to contact me. He stated he was too busy and would not get to me for a week. He then asked me to describe the problem and after doing so, he told me to go to an appliance store here in Richmond (actually gave me the name of who to talk with) and pick up a "Hard Start" device and gave me instructions on how to install it. I installed it on the unit to no avail and wasted $20. He did not come out for over a week and then it was his son that showed up and was on the phone with his dad the whole time he was attampting to troubleshoot. He then found wires that had been spliced under the house and stated that this is causing no control voltage. He charged me the $75 and left without explaining what was next, he only stated that the warranty company would call me. After calling the technician for almost 2 weeks, Total Protect finally called and stated that the repairs are not covered. The only people who have worked on this unit was another representative that Total Protect sent out two years ago when we had an issue. But now Total Protect calls me and states they won't cover the repairs needed (which are still unknown) because ot the wires. I asked them to look up my account and see who did the repairs and the representative stated that it did not matter because they could not say that the last person did it. I then asked how they could state that I did it, and she replied that it did not matter because the wires were cut and not covered under warranty. So, I guess they will look for any excuse not to pay out the larger claims and rely on the smaller claims to keep up their ratings. I will never pay another dime to these people, it is nothing but a scam.

My husband passed away so I'm a single mom on a limited budget. I thought a home warranty would be a good way to possibly defray some large repair costs so I got TotalProtect. I've had no issues with them at all other than the long wait times when I do have to call them. Their website does not work to place the claim. But other than that, they have been good and cooperative.
I did have one issue with one of the companies they authorized to do work, though. One time my air conditioning wasn't working and TotalProtect authorized a company to come. They came, got it running, but within a week it was not running again. TotalProtect did a re-call and the company set up an appointment but did not show up. I kept trying to call them back - they said they'd come the next day but they didn't. So I called TotalProtect and they transferred the claim to another company to do the repairs.

HMS was suggested to us by the real estate company where we purchase our town home. Claim submission is an extremely easy process with them, especially compared to the warranty provider at our previous home. My husband spoke with the claims person at HMS - he just answered a couple of questions and basically it was very simple. We then got a confirmation on an email; in fact, they had already told us that we could call a contractor of our choice. The electrician who came was really good, he seemed very knowledgeable and thorough. We described what we thought was happening and he found out what the real problem was.

When we first bought our house 21 years ago, the owner had the insurance on it through HMS. We have renewed it ever since. Claims submission is very easy - just call in, let them know what's wrong, and they have a provider right there to give you a call. (Sometimes they do ask you to call them or they'll call when they couldn't get someone out quick enough.) Their reps try to do all they can and I haven't had any problems with them, except this last time when they sent a letter in error - it wasn't time for ours to be renewed but they said they weren't going to renew it. But eventually they sent something right away for us and it was settled.
Their providers have been fairly well but I've also had a bad provider experience. The 2nd guy who came to put in our furnace said that the first guy had wired it wrong. But I know that some companies are bad mouthing others, so I took it with a grain of salt since the furnace ran for a while (not sure for how long though). Nevertheless, I was very satisfied with the last guy who came out and fixed our furnace and I've actually recommend HMS to everybody.

HMS was the one my realtor recommended. It seems pretty equivalent in terms of the deductible and the price to the others on the market so that's why I went with it. I think claim submission is very easy - I filled it out online, they called me, and they sent out a person who fixed the problem. I paid the hundred dollars for them and everything else was taken care of - the appliance is working great now. I think HMS is appropriately great for the value and easy to use as well.

HMS has been pretty good for most of the things I've called for. However, I disagree with the deductible. I have a number of things repaired here and I'm paying almost a hundred dollars deductible for almost everyone who came out and I think that's a little bit too much. Even for minor things such as the garage door that was not working and I knew exactly what was wrong with it but I didn't want to fix it myself because I wasn't aware of the electrical power. The technician just cut a wire and that was a little bit fast paced. For something as quick as that I had to pay a hundred dollars. They have no clear guidelines in terms of how much money that's going to be coming out of your pocket once you call somebody out. They need to just spell it out because it would be much better.
On the other hand, whenever I call, somebody would be out within a reasonable period of time except one time when the technician’s company was not based in Delaware so that took a while. I'm now waiting for my air conditioner which is about to go. I'm not sure exactly what it is but I think they've already approved the part for it and I already called them to find out if they're coming to install it. Additionally, the guy that fixed my doorbell went above and beyond and that satisfied me. I'm sure that the warranty would be out soon and I would have to renew it if I decide to do so.

5 star review are bogus. I rate it minus 10. Warranty came with purchase of house. Small items under or near deductible, no problem. Big ticket items, they will find a way to decline it. Some people nice, most were snotty because of my persistent calling. AC worked fine in 2014. 1st use in 2015, not working. Unit had never been serviced or opened. HMS called out tech who found fan motor burned out. Replaced fan motor. Still didn't work. Tech said when fan motor failed it caused compressor to overheat causing the lines to pop off. However when he reported to HMS, his paperwork stated the lines were disconnected. All HMS needed to deny the claim as they stated the unit had been improperly serviced. BS, it was never serviced since I purchased this stupid "no pay" warranty. Spent $3,200 my money to replace unit.
Been fighting with these people for 6 weeks to reimburse me. Not going to happen. One claims manager was downright snotty and told me it was a pre-existing condition prior to my purchasing home and warranty. Why the hell buy the warranty if they have no intention of covering big ticket items. I asked to speak with Doug Stein, President, no way. Asked to speak with head of Claims, no way. All of these people are trained to decline claims first, thinking people will accept it. Most idiots do, not me. I will pursue this vehemently because it is flat wrong. When I canceled the warranty they refused to refund it all. I am considering a class action and definitely more than small claims court. As I told the last person I talked to yesterday, I promise when this is over Doug Stein will get with these lower personnel and want to know why in the hell didn't you settle this valid claim? It's going to cost them far more than $3,200. This is bogus and unnecessary.

Of course TP did not call me to follow-up, so I called to inquire about the status and the nice rep informed me that my ductwork was not covered. Well, you are losing a customer. I have signed up with Choice Home Warranty for a lower service call fee and they indicate they cover ductwork for airflow and will allow you to replace your applicances with the same brand. The problem is still unresolved and we are looking at a huge cost of repairing the problem that HMS NEVER GOT FIXED. Their customer service gave us the run-around for the past 4 months until our warranty expired and THEN called to say "oh, sorry, we can't help you because your warranty expired and you didn't extend it." A's then stated to Total Protect that the upstairs unit was installed improperly and no where on the invoice does is states this; lies. I had two independent A/C companies come to my house for a second opinion and neither of them said that the unit upstairs was faultily installed. On May 30, 2015, I discovered my A/C unit was not working. No problem, I have paid premiums to Systems Protect for years and my Carrier air conditioning unit is covered. I called Systems Protect claims department and submitted my claim on Monday, June 1st. A technician came out and diagnosed the problem as a seized compressor. My plan requires a $60 deductible which I paid to the technician. A few days later I was called by Systems Protect asking me if I would authorize an additional $395 to handle disposal of the Freon and other uncovered charges. I said I would, "but PLEASE hurry, because we can't sleep in the heat." My wife and I have to take long drives to escape the temperatures in our home. Tomorrow will be 96 degrees and by Sunday it will be 99.
After many days and many calls, which have routinely required me being placed on hold for up to 45 minutes before reaching an agent, I finally was assured that my call would be escalated to a "manager." Right! Finally, on June 15th a manager called to say that unfortunately Carrier no longer stocks this particular 2-stage compressor. Carrier would have to manufacture the replacement compressor which would take between 15 and 17 days. She also told me without my asking that "No, it could not be shipped overnight, because they always arrive damaged when shipped overnight!!" Honest, that is exactly what I was told. When I asked why they wouldn't replace the whole unit with one that is currently available, she said she would have to contact purchasing. She promised to call me back the following day. NOT!
After sweltering in unrelenting heat for 19 days now. I can't get them to even return my calls. My wife and I are not young. We are trapped by the notion that we have a warranty to cover some of the expense. I would not recommend this company for home warranty service of any kind. Buyer beware! The agents you call are well trained. They are very sympathetic. They promise they will escalate the calls. They apologize profusely and repeatedly every time I call and reexplain our predicament, but nothing has been done to solve the problem. Good grief.

I wanted to share my experience with Total Protect (TP) to forewarn others thinking of signing up with this Home Warranty Company. I signed up with Total Protect on 18 May 2015. I asked about their plan that included maintenance checks of our home systems. I was told they no longer offer those plans because their new plans just simply cover everything regardless of age or problem. I signed up and after waiting their 10 day grace period, I called them on 29 May to request service on our AC system. The AC was working, but it was not cooling the house, although I had the system serviced in March by United Air Temp and was told the system was working when they finished. Total Protect sent out Atlas AC on 1 June to check our AC and they determined the system needed to be replaced. I called Total Protect multiple times over the next week and was told they were researching the issue and someone would get back with me soon. I then called on 8 June and used their call back service to have an agent call me when one was available. After 3 hours I called them back again and this time I waited until I spoke to an agent. Again I was told they were still working on the issue. Later that evening I was finally called back and informed they had determined my AC issue was a pre-existing problem and therefore they would not cover it. However, they had no problem accepting my monthly membership payment and they were quick to accept my $100 service fee for sending out Atlas AC. When I signed up, I was not informed about a Pre-existing clause. I was simply told that once my policy went into effect that I was covered for any issue and if I ever have a problem TP would either fix it or replace it. I felt they should have advised my about their Pre-existing clause stated in the fine print of the multi-page contract, although I had no way of knowing my issue was considered Pre-existing. Their customer service was terrible in that it took them over a week to finally inform me they would not correct my AC issue and I had to call them to finally have them tell me they would not cover my AC. It took 7 days for Total Protect to finally call me with a status update. So I leave it to your conclusion; if this sounds like the type of company you want to do business with and if this is the way you want to be treated by a company, then by all means Total Regret - I mean Total Protect is the company for you.

I called into the 800 number and spoke with a representative about getting that switched out to somebody who had a better reputation. Then she said as a one-time courtesy, they would give me a different service provider to use. She gave me the new name, and that was it. The technician who came was fast - he came out the same day as my service call and he had everything fixed and taken of within less than an hour. Good quality work, too.

In April 2015, Total Protect sent a company Royal Flush Air Conditioning to repair it. instead of using tools for a Air Conditioning issue, the company used my Direct TV cables to clear pTrap clog. Of course, the Direct TV stop working and leak resumed. When I talked to them again total protect wanted to charge me another $85.00 for an issue that wasn't repaired from previous call. I wanted cancel and was promised a free month to stay and no one documented so I started getting calls for past due amount.

The claims submission was easy. Everybody from HMS itself has always been fine and I'd recommend them as a company since they save me a ton of money for what we've been paying yearly. It's just some of their subcontractors that I've dealt with over the last couple of claims have been really hard. Recently, we've had two really bad experiences. One guy came out to look at our refrigerator and said he fixed it, but he wound up breaking it more. I had to go out and buy a new refrigerator about a week after he just finished on what he did. For the other experience we called for an appointment for our washing machine. The guy called one time, came right out when he said we needed a part, and we never heard from him again. I ended up getting a whole new washing machine interior. When I called HMS back and complained, they sent some other technician who he was out here within a day and got the part fixed and done.

Seven days ago our air conditioner stopped working. I called TP, gave them the info, they put me on hold, called the Technician and did a 3 way with him. He said he would be out the next morning to look at it. He arrived the next day and after a couple of hours he went back to his truck and made a report to TP. He came back inside, told us we would hear from TP in 24-48 hrs. When we didn't hear we called them and got the run around, they were trying to find parts...next day we called again, same thing, sorry we are trying to find the parts. I live on the Gulf coast and right now inside my house it's 95* If we could talk to someone other then the girl that answers the phone that could tell us something we may not be so upset but there is no one to talk to. She said she would have her supervisor call within 8 hrs. that didn't happen. Any recommendations?????

I had air conditioner claim in June (hot weather) where the customer service with return phone calls were less than satisfactory so I stayed on them. It took two days get quotes and an authorization for a new unit. Then the weekend. Then the unit had to be ordered and shipped. There was no compensation for me living in a house without air for many days where the temperature was well over 85 degrees while my paper work set and I made phone calls to them. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told there were none available. Maybe the unit will actually be shipped in a few days. Then it will be installed. This process will end up taking at least a week and a half!! Plus I have to pay a disposal fee. Not what I pay a monthly fee for.

The previous owners of the house we bought paid for the first year of the HMS warranty. I've had no problems with their claims representatives but sometimes it's difficult to find a technician to come for service. Nevertheless, the last technician that we had was awesome - I just can't believe he worked that late. The one before that however, had to come out a few times to service the air conditioner. The problem wound up being a thermostat but they were saying our TV was knocking off the compensator on the thermostat.

Whenever I have a claim, I call TotalProtect, they call the company and the company comes out and fixes the problem. Their technician comes during my appointment, fixes the appliance then I sign the paperwork and pay the deductible. So far, I don't have any issues with TotalProtect so I don't have any problems recommending them to others.

I had a problem with my air conditioning unit, it kept blowing fuses. HMS had a guy come out here and he went around to my box outside and started clipping wires, wiring them together, replaced that fuse, went upstairs and left. And of course, when it switched over, it blew a fuse. So I called him back. He came back and he looked around and said it's not wired properly and he's not allowed to touch the wire. And I said I paid him $100 and he did not fix the problem. He said it will cost about $250 for him to do it and I told him to leave. It was a rip off. I called HMS Warranty and I wanted somebody to come out here just before I hired another company. They sent me a $100.00 back. Well, that’s great but it still cost me $150.00. This next guy wired them and replaced a part and I paid him $250.00 then he left.
It wasn't too long ago that I also had a problem with the hot water heater. The guy they sent walked in here, took one look and went outside. He got two of those replacement burning units. He drained and cleaned everything up, put those two in there, set it correctly. Great, it worked fine. I gave him $100.00 and he left. This guy did a great job.

When we bought our new house, my mother-in-law (who was also our agent) gave us HMS Home Warranty coverage as a housewarming gift. She did some research and talked to other agents at her office and they pointed her to HMS. I'm glad we got the warranty. We had a couple of different issues with our air conditioning unit and HMS has been great. The first time, it was just with the motor - the guy came out and I got it fixed. Just recently though, the coil has gone bad and is leaking really fast. We were going to get it repaired, but I think it's better to get a new unit instead.

I didn't have any problems with TotalProtect and their subcontractor. When I called to place a claim, the rep gave me the number and the claim number. I called the service company in the night, a person texted me something which made me think I didn't get the right number. I didn't hear anything back from the subcontractor that night so I called TP the next day. The rep says to call back again if we haven't heard from the subcontractor in a few hours, and they'll give me a new one. Fortunately, the subcontractor called before 1, came out, and everything was taken care of. Quality's fair enough too.

I had AHS and I wasn't happy with them anymore and they weren't happy with me either, so I decided to switch to HMS. I haven't had any problems at all with them. I've been satisfied. I've had some problems with things not fixed initially, but they immediately took care of it, so I don't have any complaints about that either. The technicians that have come to service my appliances have been very good. I had a couple of issues like the dishwasher that they had to come back after three times, but they came back and got it fixed. Overall I'm very satisfied with HMS. What I ask for and what they say, they're going to do. The only reason I have a warranty service is because of budgeting. I'm big on budgeting. So, by having it set up that way, it makes it easy on me and I don't get the hassle when I make claims. I don't make that many claims. I try not to anyway. But when I do, they take care of it right away.

We have had an outstanding claim that is covered and approved for a broken air conditioner. Company is delaying replacing unit, does not return calls, and ordered the wrong unit. It has been 5 weeks with 90+ degree days. We have called over 12 times. Supervisors have often not returned calls. And when they have it has taken days. They ask for the same information repeatedly, and do not follow up on action items. The repair company they have exclusively contracted with to fix the problem has not had their calls returned from the company to get the right parts ordered. We have escalated repeatedly to no success and contacted the Better Business Bureau for help as we are exasperated.

We got HMS Home Warranty with the house that we bought. Our claim went really well. When we first moved in, we had an issue with the Jacuzzi tub leak and a couple of other leaks. We called HMS and initially I was a little concerned because I know nothing about the company. I was wondering if they're in the area but in the end we were happy with the plumber that they sent. The only negative thing is that the guy sat out in the truck for 31 minutes waiting on hold, waiting before he could do anything (but that may be normal). Nevertheless he got the job done while I was away and I the quality of work is good.

TotalProtect replaced our refrigerator, came out for our stovetop but that couldn't be fixed so they gave us some money towards a new one, worked on my dishwasher twice when the racks are very bad but they won't replace it because it's not broken. The technicians come from Sears and are usually very good and I never had any problems with them. The last one was especially nice because we thought we had to fix something in the garage door but when he looked, he found out that the reason it's not working is because we never had the ability for it to go down and come up until it hits something.

I purchased a home warranty with Total Protect in July 2014. I called for my first service request in May 2015. My air conditioner stopped working. I was assigned a claim number and given contact information for the air conditioner service provider (Barstow and Sons). I had to call both Barstow and Sons and Total Protect for 3 days before I was given a service date. The technician came out and pronounced my unit unfixable and in need of replacement. I have been calling Total Protect and Barstow and Sons for the last 3 weeks and getting nothing but the run-around. Total Protect says they don't have any paperwork from Barstow and Sons. Calls to Barstow and Sons repeatedly point me to a person who is never available to speak with me and fails to return my calls. Then I came home yesterday to find a contract renewal paperwork with Total Protect in the mail. I am so very dissatisfied with this company and their service provider.

I have been a member of TotalProtect for more than three years now. Initially, I thought that it was a good thing to have it. I'm still happy with it, but the problem is that some of the things might need to be replaced yet they did not do anything with it. Now the technician has to come and repair the same thing. (The technician still has not been able to repair my cooking range after three visits.) I think for the $40 just to make sure that if something goes wrong, they should replace it instead. TotalProtect is very particular to get everything in time, but when it comes to the service part of it, I'm not happy at all.
