I recommend Total Protect home warranty. I like the fact that if something goes wrong, I don't have to pay for the whole thing; somebody else can help me pay for it. Submitting a claim with them is very easy. The claims representatives were courteous and able to answer my questions. The only problem I ever had was the providers, the people they called to fix whatever needed to be fixed. Some of them I had some real tough problems. I had a garbage disposal go bad this last time and they came in and replaced it. Before he left, they tried it and it wasn't working, so they jiggled with it and it worked again. I tried and it didn't work, so we determined that it was bad so we took it off. We didn't have another one and they said they'd come back the next day and if not, then Monday. He didn't come when he was supposed to and this went on for about a week. It took over a week, a lot of frustration and a lot of calls made for this to be fixed. Aside from this, I'm very happy with their professionalism.

I need to protect the appliances and things here in my apartment so I decided to acquire TotalProtect. It was convenient. A claim is easy. Just call up and tell them the problem. You can do it online but I prefer to speak to somebody. When you speak to someone, they will connect you with the service person. I’ve had a couple of technicians and they were very good. I did have one where there was a problem that needed follow up and the company turned out to be crap and I told TotalProtect not to bring them back here again. The quality of work they performed in general was good. Other than that one time, I’m totally satisfied with them.

Total Protect is fine. My experience with them is almost great, no problem. We just ended up with the wrong person. We got somebody else and he came out and did it perfectly. They might want to try to start screening their people a little bit more. The guy who talked to me on the phone was really nice.

I first heard about TotalProtect through the bank when I took out my mortgage. I acquired a home warranty for security and safety, to make sure that if something happens, I will always be covered. It took a little while but in the end, it worked out really well. So I’m pleased with TotalProtect’s response and the turnaround. The staff was very helpful. Sometimes, it’s not as easy to find a service person in the area. Sometimes, that takes a little while but overall, I would say it’s good. The technicians are usually very good, too. Overall, I would recommend TotalProtect to a friend.

It has been very good. I first heard about them when I received a letter in the mail telling me about the program and inviting me to join it. And it was in a Regions Bank envelope. I have two daughters that works at Regions. One of them, which is the local branch manager, says she heard good things about it, and so I enrolled. I've used it twice since.
Sending a claim has been fairly easy. The claims reps were very professional. The technicians they sent were very knowledgeable of what they were here to do, very professional, very friendly and courteous. The quality of their work is very good. They have to keep up the good work and treat the people like they treated me, and they have a good thing going.

Total Protect has sent out 3 separate service providers and have refused all three estimates for repair/replacement as being too high. 2nd tech was 6 hrs late and caused further damage. Now we are being told to wait until they can find a service provider that will replace for the cost they deem appropriate. We've now been 4 weeks without heat with <32F temps constantly dealing with them. Their guarantees/warranties seem useless at this point and there is and has been zero follow through or care for our well being regarding a situation they created.
Wendy, I’m very sorry to hear that you had an unusually long and frustrating experience. I investigated your claim and confirmed that your concerns were addressed by our escalations manager. I’m happy that you were able to reach an amicable solution. I hope that should you experience any further home emergencies we have the opportunity to show we aim to make homeownership hassle-free. - Stephanie

Everything has been excellent except lately and it has been a nightmare. The electricity went out in the house about a month ago. Approved Electric got assigned and their tech called me and said he will be there this afternoon. We had somebody at the house the entire day, and that night about 8:00, he hadn't shown up so I called and he says that his other job ran late and that he'll be here in the morning. We had somebody there in the morning but he never showed up or called. The next day, same thing. Finally on Saturday, we called to get another company, and he sent me a text about two hours after I called to get another company and said he's on his way. Approved Electric is unprofessional and I don't want them there again.
The next company, Noasis, showed up when they said they would. They said it was a bad breaker and had to replace it. A week ago now, same problem happened. Same plugs and garage door went out. I called and they gave me Approved Electric again. I went out and looked; there are no new breakers. I don't know what they did, but they didn't do it right. I called and left a message for the tech. The next day, TotalProtect sent him a work order when I called. The next night, I hadn't heard from him nor had he returned my call. I called, he doesn't call me back, but answers TotalProtect's call. The tech said he never got the work order. I'm sure he got my message regarding the work order, so that's not an excuse. He told TotalProtect that he would get back with me.
Wednesday to Monday I called to get a different company because TotalProtect said that Approved and Noasis were the only two that were approved by TotalProtect to do work. It took a couple of days but they found another company that would come out; they can't come out until Tuesday, but called me and told me that. They said they would be there between 11 and 1, Monday, on the 8th, which is fine. But not calling at all is totally unacceptable in my book. Everything else has been taken care of and we've been using TotalProtect for 12 years. TotalProtect is worth every penny we paid except this last time, and it's just this one company.

I have TotalProtect Home Warranty for many years. Submitting a claim was very easy and so I’m very pleased. The service is good. Right away, they jump on the horse and get in, giving the numbers, either plumbers or whatever the company needs to be. It’s very good. Customer service people are experienced.
I really like TotalProtect. But I had a problem with one claim, a recent claim with my dishwashing machine. The person was very polite but he did not do the job. The second one did an excellent job and he was a very pleasant person, very polite and knows what he’s doing, was very flexible with my hours, not his hours. He was trying to please. I will definitely recommend TotalProtect. If I get across somebody who needs fixing, I’ll recommend them.

Submitting a claim with Total Protect was nice and easy. One phone call and everything’s taken care of. It was very quick. The claims representative was very good. The company that came out twice was Dempsey Oil and I’ve been please with them – they were fantastic. But I’ve had one company, Spry Plumbing and Heating, come out once and would not have them in my home again. The repairman came and told me that the only problem with my furnace was a dirty filter, but a week later the thing was totally dead. They were awful and I hate them. But I have absolutely no complaints with Total Protect because it’s the greatest thing I ever did. I would definitely recommend.

Then they call later on the day or the next day and we set up a day and time for the repair person to come out and do what needs to be done. The claims representatives were very courteous and willing to work with my schedule. That's great because that's what I need.
The technicians are on time and they call. They have been very nice and very courteous. They told me what's wrong with it and they tell me if they could fix it. The last time, he said, "What you really need to do is get an electrician to come out and look at the plug-in because that's probably what it is." He was very nice about it. They knew what the problem was. Like when the guy came out for the dishwasher, he knew exactly what it was after looking at the problem and he fixed it.
Having TotalProtect for my home warranty has been a great thing. They've been so nice. I wouldn't drop it. I am single and don't have anyone to help me repair things. I don't have neighbors that are close by to recommend people to repair things.

I liked the fact that Total Protect was straight out there.
I submitted a claim and it was great! Just made a phone call and it was taken care of. The claims representative asked me a few questions, I answered them, gave me a choice of two people to come out, and I told her who I wanted, and that was it. It was very simple. The next day someone was here and the guy went out of his way to help me get my dishwasher fixed. All I had to do was pay the $75. The technician was very nice. He called me to let me know he was on the way, called me to let me know he was on the driveway. I'm alone during the day, so it was comfortable to know that that was who it was. Took care of the problem, knew exactly what it was, had to run out to the hardware store, went and got what he needed, fixed it and cleaned up after himself. It was great. Dishwasher's working fine now. I got the help I needed and I couldn't be happier. Total Protect is easy to understand and use.

As far as the service is concerned, everything is fine. But it has some flaws in it. You just never know because you take a chance on when you think something is covered and they come out here and you find out it's not covered or part of it is not covered, so they won't pay but then you have to end up paying $75 and still end up getting the problem fixed by an independent contractor.
It's a learning experience because in the beginning I didn't know what to say other than just tell them what's going on but now when I call, I know what to say. I have to trick them to get a correct answer out of them. I’ve used it several times on several things, and what I’ve done is I’ve had to press them really hard to tell me – "This is what’s wrong, is this going to be covered?" That’s the tricky part about the coverage.

We had one issue where there was a lot of confusion because it was a new water heater that was put in and there were some issues that happened that they have to find out. They have to follow back and find out who was really responsible. It ended up actually being that it was pipes from the floor from when the house was built so it really wasn't their issue and they were still kind enough because of all that back and forth that we did that they waived our deductible to even get that one fix. We thought that was really, really nice of them to do that because we've been with them for a while.
We feel like their price is the best. We used to be with another company that did not cover hot tubs, and they do. And they've been very, very good about sending people out, taking things real quickly. We've had a couple people come out that we weren't that crazy about. But still, they got the work done. So overall, I would definitely recommend TotalProtect. I have been very happy with them.

TotalProtect called them out to come several times and they never did call and make an appointment. So they called Appliance Clinic, a local company, and they came out. Overall we've had satisfactory experience when submitting a claim to TotalProtect. We got our water heater done. It was okay. It's usually an easy process, except for this last time, for the furnace. The service has been really good, except that they didn't give us update. The technician was excellent. He checked the unit and told us that it's an older unit and it's up to us what we wanted to do, whether we wanted to cash out or if we just wanted it fixed. We wanted it fixed, so they ordered the part. However no one called to tell us "we ordered it and it's on its way." I had to call today to find out where we were. It's been a week that we haven't had heat. I wish they would at least follow up and give us a call.

I put a claim in for my refrigerator. They sent out the service company. They misdiagnosed problem but paid for service that was done. Unfortunately, because they sent out incompetent service team I had to call Kitchen aid myself and have them come out to diagnose problem. They got diagnosis correct and the sealed system was problem. Kitchen Aid would pay for parts but labor was on me. I called Total Protect and they said no problem set up a new claim and just send bills in and they would take care of it up to$1000.
Well I did that. Spent over $1000 on Labor when I sent bills in they delayed payment until I kept calling them. They informed me that they were making it part of my original claim and deducted that claim payment from the second one.
So I was held responsible for them sending out an unreliable company to diagnose the problem. That Cost me $425 which they reimbursed me. But they deducted that from second claim even though the error was on their original companies diagnosis.
They lied to me and did not deliver what they promised. Look at other companies as I am now. There seems to be better companies out there.
Berdj, thanks for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience. I apologize that in this instance we weren’t able to follow the typical claim process. We did however allow you to select your own service provider to prevent further claim delays. The remainder of your reimbursement for the approved repair costs was sent late last week and should arrive any day now. I’d be more than happy to address any additional concerns you may have, let me know if I should reach out to you. Sincerely - Stephanie

Mr. Taylor, I’m sorry that the outcome of your claim was not what you expected. As with any warranty there are conditions that are not eligible for coverage. The part, heat exchanger, is eligible for coverage however the cause of failure, rust, is not. I would not recommend this warranty company. I purchased this warranty to feel a little better about items breaking down in the home and they make it worse by giving you the runaround. I placed a claim in July for the air conditioner and they denied saying the unit needed maintenance, I used the company they sent out to do the maintenance and now the heat is not working and they are saying it is not maintained. How is this when the company they sent to my home did the maintenance they said needed to be done prior to them covering anything is irrelevant now! How does that work? That tells me that the companies they send out they do not trust? I put trust in the companies they send out or any company I may use on my own and trust that they are performing the work they say and how do I know if they are not properly performing the work I am being charged for when I am an average person that lacks the knowledge of ac/heating mechanics. I have received the pass around and put on hold time after time each day I called in to check the status of my claim because they have yet to place a call to me to tell me my claim is denied. I have been told it is going through approval, they are getting part specifications and when I talk to the company they recently came out they told me they are waiting for Total Protect to give them information and Total Protect tells me they are waiting on the company to give them information but in the meantime I am being told the claim is denied. Another call to the supposed office of the President got me to we will replace what is under contract that can be replaced and to contact the company to schedule the repairs. The next day same old thing the claim is denied and the company is waiting for Total Protect to provide information. I have maintenance receipts to prove my system is and has been maintained and they are not interested in reviewing these only to say the company told them the breakdown in the system due to lack of maintenance. I was told I could get a second company to come out and do a second opinion and if they say the system has not been maintained I would have to pay the $85 service charge. What is this warranty really about? I speak to someone else who then tells me what the repair company called in and reported to them and I look at my invoice and says something totally different. How does that work? I was then told to fax the invoice to Amber ** and when I call to check on the status of the fax they inform me it should not to go that person I should have emailed support services. I keep getting the runaround and I am very tired of the lack of concern or willingness of this company to get this resolved. They do not offer any solutions just the claim is denied. I am totally frustrated and have had to keep my temper under control day after day of people basically saying your maintenance receipts do not matter but that is why we are denying the claim because of the maintenance. If I am showing this work has been done what is the problem. I will not give up until my system is repaired or replaced as I was told when I purchased the warranty. It does not matter how old the system as long as the system has been maintained it will be repaired or replaced as long as it is a covered item. Well I am not getting what is covered under contract fixed just a denial of the claim. I will keep on this until resolved.

The contractor they sent was fine. Some markets, there's not going to be as much to pick from and we are fairly small, larger than a town but smaller than a city. But TotalProtect was very accommodating saying if we were not satisfied or if they didn't come at a certain time, to call them back and they would get somebody else. The only thing, which wasn't TotalProtect's fault, was that it took the contractor about a week to get to us. So that's not too good and that’s probably due to where we live.
But I would recommend TotalProtect. It's like meeting someone. The first impression goes a long way, but that person could turn out to be your worst enemy, but could be your best friend for life too. I've had that happen. So initial experience, very, very good. I don't anticipate any problems. I hope there won't be a reason for another call. But if we're in it for several years, you have to expect that there would be. But right now, overall satisfaction.

We were totally frustrated. I was ready to drop Total Protect because of the idiots that they sent. It took over two months to fix our washing machine because of the first guy being not knowledgeable enough, saying there's nothing wrong and then my wife heard a conversation he was having with another guy on the phone and he said something to him... to the point where the next guy came and ordered a part. Two weeks later, the thing got worse and we called the guy up to repair it. He came over, ordered a part. The part finally came and we had to wait two more weeks for the guy to show up to put the new part in and somehow it got broke putting it in or a chip broke. So we had to wait another two weeks for them to ship another one... It built up and I was mad as could be. We were upset with that. Most of the time, there's no problem but this one occasion was just terrible service.

I learned about TotalProtect through U.S. Bank. We had a home that was fairly new. It was only about eight years old and we had the water heater go out. It cost $1,800 to replace so I thought about it and went ahead and got a home warranty. We've had TotalProtect now for six years and they had very good results most of the time. We also picked up a second property since we have an 18-year-old and he's finishing his masters in Manhattan. He couldn't drive to and from college so we bought a second home and got it on TotalProtect as well and we've used it about nine times between two houses. Usually, it is for the heater or air conditioner.
Other than one bad experience, it's been great. One time, their person was supposed to call and didn't follow up and it was in the middle of winter and we had a heater go out. In our case, it worked out fine because we have a second home. We just went over there for about four days till they got hold of someone to repair the heater. So overall. it's been fine. When we sat down and did a financial analysis, we've actually broke even back or are ahead between the two houses. We have had a washer and a refrigerator go out and these were fairly new appliances so that was surprising. We had the heat and air conditioning in both houses fixed twice. So financially we're ahead by about $200 or $250. I would recommend them.

The majority of the claims we submit to them are good but once in a while, it's been a little rough. There was no follow through when it came to our water heater. I had to call back several times. And then, just recently with our microwave, the guy ordered the part and instead of saying that he would come back, which should have been free of charge to put the part in, what he did is he told my husband he could put it in himself. So we paid $75 for nothing, basically. But still it's okay. I won't switch.

To whom it may concern,
I wanted to express my heart felt gratitude to Stefany ** for assisting me with a recent claim. In short, Stefany is a rock star and here is why.
My claim was for a dishwasher and one blunder after another occurred in getting a technician out to my home, then the part arrived at the vendors office and they had no idea who it went to. The order was cancelled and sent to another vendor, I called the original vendor and he had the part and wanted to install it...long story short after 4 weeks someone came out to replace the part and it did not solve the problem and another part was ordered. I was told it would be at my house in 5 days...2 weeks later the part never showed up. Fed up I tool to social media (Facebook) stating my displeasure. This is when I met Stefany. From the very beginning she was extremely apologetic and very eager to resolve my issue. She determined it would be best to replace the washer citing costly replacement parts and time. She ordered the DW and it arrived as scheduled, coordinated the install and all is well and I am doing the dishes once again.
In conclusion what Stefany did was amazing...she did it with a smile (yes the customer knows when you are smiling), with professionalism and care. I knew right away she wanted to help resolve this as quickly as possible. When I look at the core values of CCHS this is how I would grade Stefany:
Listen - A+Value Others - A+
Promote Improvement - A+
Reject Status Quo - A+
Embrace Passion - A+
Act Like Owners - A+
Celebrate Success! - I hope she celebrates
Customer service can be thankless at times, its a grind and I know this from personal experience. However if you enjoy what you and enjoy who you are doing it for it makes all the difference. Clearly Stefany takes her job very serious and is committed to exceeding customer expectations. As a result of Stefany's awesomeness you have a customer for life and I plan on consolidating my home warranties from my investment properties (5) to CCHS before the end of the year.
Thanks again and God Bless!

They were very diligent and the technician even gave me a personal phone number to check back with him because they had to come out on a recall a couple of times, and then they finally got it fixed. To be very truthful, the technician wasn’t even sure what he did, but there was some kind of a blockage in the line and evidently cleared. Once it cleared, then they got the thing balanced out and it’s working fine. So I was very satisfied with the service that I got .
The only suggestion that I have that I’ve experienced that I think would be great for them to apply is some sort of a mandatory preventive maintenance program where we would have to share the cost but there would be a preventive maintenance program like on the air conditioning systems and things like that. That’s always a question that is asked when they come out to service your equipment (“Have you had preventive maintenance done?”) I think if there was an opportunity to do that through the insurance even with an extra co-pay, it would be a great enhancement to the program.

I don't how long I've had TotalProtect. I just saw it was offered and it goes with my house payment. Submitting claims has been pretty good and easy. When we had our washer problems, they offered to replace our washer but we wanted to know what they'd replace it with. We didn't like it, so we had somebody come in and then work on it and it’s still running. We had a little discussion with the technicians about what a crappy washer they were trying to give me. My last claim was my dryer. There was some confusion; it started out good. They scheduled my appointment in two days, but showed up the next day and it turned out it was a different place. Somehow they had two different places… All in all it took a couple of weeks because they had to order a part, so it was a long process there and my wife had to go somewhere to dry clothes. Other than that, my experience with them has been good. They fixed my stove pretty quick.
Donald, thanks for providing feedback on some of your warranty experiences. I’m very sorry that you were inconvenienced due to your dryer claim delays.
Please know that when we provide a replacement appliance we do our best to match features. We also give you the option to purchase the unit of your choice with a cash out.

I’ve had Total Protect since we bought our house. I was apprehensive about getting the home warranty because I've heard other horror stories through other people, but every time I've submitted a claim, they've answered it and it's only been my deductible. You can't beat that!
I've had three or four claims so far and each time it's been excellent. I've never had a problem with getting parts and they've always followed up and made sure that the contractor was doing what they were supposed to do. The plumbing service that they use for the one job was great. My water heater had to be replaced and it was leaking the next day. They came right back out and fixed it. I had my air conditioning go out and the guy who came out welded the broken fan, never welded it before, and it worked until he could get the part in. So it's been great. I saw TotalProtect and they offered more coverage than my previous home warranty. Each time that I needed work done, I’ve submitted my claims online. They give me the number of the contractors, I call them and set up the appointment, and it has worked out very well. The one exception was with one contractor that is no longer with them because they didn’t meet TotalProtect’s standards.
We had to have a garbage disposal replaced, and while they were there, they discovered that we had a water leak. So they got us in touch with a company who fixed the water leak. But we had to have some drying done under the sink and they put us in contact with a company who could do that for us, and they did it for a very reasonable price. I’m very satisfied with them.

I’ve had several calls placed with TotalProtect. I’ve never had any problem getting an answer. All the services I’ve had have been within a reasonable amount of time. I haven’t had any problems with the claims representatives. I’ve either called in or gone online to place a claim and I’ve gotten answer back within a couple of hours. That’s good for an online service that I had. I’d say about two hours, I would have a call either from them or from the people that would come out and service the equipment.
I had one technician about 3 weeks ago when the heat and air system went out; I had no air conditioning. I placed a call online. I got a call back from the people that had the contract. They told me that I would hear from his contractor that was gonna come out and service the equipment. I talked to him within about 3 hours. It took two or three days because it’s on a weekend and I did not request it to be an emergency because I was the only one here and I really didn’t care if the air conditioner was on or not that much. They came out and the fellow fixed the air conditioner within a matter of an hour or so, and I’ve had no trouble with it. Overall, you know what your expenses is going to be up front, and everything gets done the way they advertise it. That’s all I can ask for.

The only issue I had was last summer when we had difficulties with my AC and I was left without AC for about two months while in a dispute with Total Protect Gold as far as what was covered and what wasn't. In the whole dispute, I had 3 different technicians that were sent out and they all had different diagnoses on the problem. I ended up using an outside vendor and paying them out of pocket, and Total Protect Gold reimbursed me for a portion of it. That wasn't a pleasurable experience but I still kept them around for some time being.
I communicated with them both through email and phone call. Their reps are informative; I just didn't agree with what items were and weren't covered because I ended up being out of pocket about $1800 to get my AC back up and running and made me wonder why I was paying for a home warranty service to begin with. Other than the AC issue, they've been pretty quick and responsive and they've been able to repair everything. I’ve had a few calls here and there, like my most recent one which was a light fixture that went out and that was pretty quick to be taken care of, and a dishwasher that wasn’t heating right and they replaced the heating elements. I first heard about Total Protect Home Warranty through my bank, US Bank. So far, submitting a claim has been good. Our interactions with the claims representatives have also been good. Although, there was one that was kind of rude at one time when they denied the claim, but other than that, most of them had been excellent. Also, the technicians have always been very good as well as the quality of their work.

We've had Total Protect Home Warranty for a few years. We decided to have it because the builder of the homes in this particular subdivision went belly up, so if something went wrong, there was no recourse for the homeowner, period. We've been very lucky; I mean, on top of which we were very, very careful when we had the house built; we were heavily involved in it. But it just seemed like a good thing to do. We really haven't had a lot of problems, thank goodness.
I've had no problem when submitting claims; that's been the easy part of the process. The recent visit that we had, though, we really had some difficulties and this has been like the third time this particular contractor did not follow up in what I would consider to be reasonable amount of time. The visit was about our air conditioner. The issue there is I have an autoimmune disorder that you don't do well in severe temperatures, and our air conditioner went out. I called in to report and was expecting to get a call back from the company; that did not happen. I ended up calling back.
We had a horrible storm come through the night before five or six different companies in the area, couldn't get anybody to respond. The guy they got a hold of said that he wouldn't be able to come out for a couple of days. I just said that cannot happen because it's extremely hot at the time and I wasn't doing very well, so they tried to get another company to come in. I called back the next day and they still couldn't get anybody, so then they outsourced it. They told me to find a company, which we did; it's a company that we've used before outside of the warranty program, and they were able to come out that afternoon.
So instead of being three or four days without air, I was only without air overnight. But it took me calling the home warranty company back to get that information or in pushing the issue and saying, 'Look, if it's been a normal situation, that would've have been different,' but were experiencing pretty high temperatures at that point. The warranty company was aware that I had a medical issue, so I felt like there should've been a little more follow-up on it from the warranty company themselves. It's something they may not really think about, but if you have somebody that has a medical condition where heating or cooling can be an issue, it's something that they need to follow up on, instead of just thinking everything's gonna be hunky-dory.
I just wish that they had better quality companies that they're doing their warranty program with, because they're using a lot of mom-and-pop operations and I think the reason they're doing that is because they can get a lower price for it, but I think that overall, it's costing them more money to do that than if they used a reputable company that can turn this stuff around quicker. Anyway, the contractor diagnosed the problem almost instantly, which was what I suspected and told the warranty company, and had the thing replaced in like 10 minutes. So my experience with them was still very positive.

I've been with Total Protect Home Warranty for about 10 years now. It was through my mortgage company that introduced it to us. At the time, I thought it was a good idea, and I've been singing the praises of this type of warranty for years now. It just stumbled across us and I found it to be a very good deal. Submitting claim with them has gotten much better because everything is automated. They give you the option to do it over the phone or online, and I like that because my system is slow and I'm frustrated, so I call them directly. In the last four or five years, they've gotten a lot better with their professionalism, their employees and the friendliness. They've been improving continuously and I've been very happy with them. I've been impressed over the years. They're good.
The claims representatives are excellent. On a scale of 1 to 10, they're an 11. I don't recall anyone ever being bad. They've been very consistent, very friendly, very helpful and very professional. The technicians' quality is okay. Our last experience with our air conditioning, they had a company come out and they supposedly solved the problem but they did not. They came out a second time with another technician, and they gave up. My guess is that they were not very experienced, but Total Protect quickly got another company to come out that solved the problem. The problem was solved, but they had to order parts. The manufacturer of the air conditioner is Trane and probably there are not a lot of companies out there that are trained on Trane but they did find the correct technician to come out. It's working right now and we're very satisfied.

I would say that my experience with TotalProtect was excellent, although I'm not very happy with the company that serviced my air conditioner last time. The young man that came out to service my air condition was good but he told me that it needed cleaning - the reason why it was making that sound and that protection did not cover that. It was $150 and I said 'Okay fine'. So I called their office and scheduled an appointment. They gave me an appointment date. I took off from work and straight home and waited.
They never called, never showed up. I called the company back, left a voice mail saying I'm sitting here. No one has called. No one has come by and no one ever contacted me - even to this day I haven't received a call back from that company to tell me what happened, why I wasted a day of work, nothing. Up until now I can still hear the noises.

I previously had a home warranty with a different warranty company for about 10 years. I got it through my mortgage. They stopped offering it through the mortgage. When they stopped, I had to re sign up with them or with someone else. Then I got this flyer of TotalProtect in the mail and saw that their price was better. So I went on and signed up. Submitting the claim was not difficult. You call in and they give you information and tell you “we’re going to send out...” and all that but getting someone here was an issue. It took a little bit longer than I had experience with my previous warranty company.
I had a claim for our air conditioner. They came out and fixed it - we thought. Within 24 hours, it was broken again. So they had to change something and it took them a couple more days to come out to figure out what was going on. Then they came out and they said they had to order parts because it was something that had to be replaced, but it took them almost two and a half weeks to replace it.
I have another unit, so I was able to keep my house bearable. But it was a little bit frustrating because it took so long to get my air conditioner fixed. Overall it was an average experience. The claims representatives were very nice. When they called to get an update, they were pretty prompt. That’s one of the things that I want, they did follow up on their side.

The claims reps have been fairly brief, straightforward and to the point. A lot of times, the claims are handled by the automated system, without having to require an intervention of an actual person. I've had several calls, several different technicians for different problems or issues with different pieces of equipment and they've been fairly straightforward too. For the most part, my experience with them has been fairly good with no problems -- I'm perfectly happy with the quality of their work except there was one instance where I had some difficulty with the initial contractor they recommended... TotalProtect promptly gave me another one.

I decided to look into having a home warranty because I have a home and, for the price, it doesn't seem bad to have a warranty to cover a lot of the things in the house. I chose a TotalProtect because I heard about it through another client that they used to have.
Submitting a claim on the internet seems user friendly and easy enough. The representatives were very courteous and respectful. They’re knowledgeable about the services that the company offers. And for the most part, they were very timely, as far as getting back to me and scheduling appointments for them to come out. But it took a little bit of time for some parts to come in. I understand that’s not the technician’s fault. It’s been a week ago when they fixed my dryer but it’s still having some problems that I noticed over the weekend. But I haven’t had the chance to call back today because I've been at work. Other than that, it was fine. They got back to me in a timely manner after I filed a claim, we set appointments, they came out and checked it out and then came back. And for the most part, in terms of their quality of work, it’s pretty good.

I had four technicians that serviced my appliance. The first guy came and looked at it and he couldn't find anything wrong. It was working. He left and it quit within 6 hours. Then another one came and he said it needed a part and they didn't have it but he could bypass it to make it run for the weekend - it would last. It burnt up that night, burnt the fan up and everything else. We lived without air condition for a week. It was the hottest week we've had. Right now it’s finally fixed. But I was really upset at the time.
I know it wasn't as good as it should have been. I don’t think the guy was knowledgeable... It’s just that sometimes you get a bad person that’s working for the companies. But overall, TotalProtect is great. We’re pretty satisfied with our experience with them. Submitting a claim was easy - just call ‘em up, they take care of it right there and give you a phone number of the company to call. We've told people about it and said it was a good deal and got them thinking (so they may get some new customers). In our case we’ve only been here a couple of years and already things were breaking down so we figured it would be better to space it out over a year’s time than have to put up full $500 every time they come.

TotalProtect is a pretty good company. My wife got it when we first bought the house. The claim is rather easily done. You can do it by phone, by person, over the computer, or your iPhone. So they've made it fairly easy to submit a claim. The technician that came to service my appliance, we had good rapport. He knew his stuff. I’m not angry with the experience. All my experiences with TotalProtect had been great. But there are some problems with what they will and will not fix...
When you're a heart patient like me, or you're a diabetic in this particular area we live in, down here in this desert, sometimes they're not as compliant to fix things as quickly as they should. I know they can't give special treatment to some people, but sometimes that needs to be taken into account. The other problem is there are some things that we don't know as homeowners that is our responsibility for maintenance, and I think it would be to Total Protect's advantage if they were to put out a booklet saying, 'Look, you need to do this to your air conditioner once a year, twice a year. You need to do this to your dishwasher every once in a while.' No booklets come with these machines that tell you what your responsibility for maintenance is. It's only when it comes time to repair it do you find that, 'Oh, we won't repair that because you didn't do the maintenance. You were negligent.'
Well, it would be a lot easier for somebody to put out a booklet saying, 'Yes, this is your responsibility to keep track of or take care of.' And then you wouldn't have a problem. When you submit a claim, it would be a legitimate claim because we know what our responsibility is as opposed to Total Protect's. We usually find out these things the hard way when it could be so much easier. I don't understand why somebody hasn't done that yet. It doesn't cost much to get with the people who either repair them, which is where I would go. I'd find a decent company, have them write a maintenance manual for the owner. And then I would assemble it and send it out to all the people in Total Protect and say, 'Look, here is your owner's manual for everything you may or may not own. And this is your responsibility to take care of when other things go bad. Then it's our turn to step in and take care of it. And if you were to do that, many other companies may come to you to ask that you do that for them. And that's where you make your money back.
The other thing that I want to bring up is that sometimes they don't proof the companies that come out here. So some of them know their stuff and some of them are jerking you around. And there should be some way you can check the certification to make sure that these people know what they're talking about. If they would go to Angie's List where they've already been screened because they're certified to know what they're supposed to know.
90% of them that we've had had told the truth about what's going on with our machine. But we had a few that just came out and just pumped Freon in it and didn't check anything else out. When you do that then the rest of the machine suffers because you don't know what's in there that's becoming a problem. Several people, over the course of air conditioner repair as an example, would come out and say nothing wrong with it, it just needs Freon, and they keep pumping Freon into it, and finally one of the valves broke because the pressure was too high. Because they never went upstairs into the attic to check to see what else was wrong with it. And then one guy came out and he said, "I got to check the system from top to bottom." When he checked the system, the valve, that determines the pressure that the air sort of come out at, was up to temperature, it drops back but it still blows. It just doesn't blow at the same ferocity as it would if it has to cool it down.
There were metal shavings in there from the day that the machine was manufactured. That should never have happened. Somebody, 2 to 3 years before this guy came should have caught that. This is what I mean with people not knowing when they come out here -- they go screw out the back and check the Freon. They never check if there's a leak upstairs in the attic. They never see if the coil is rusted, although they won't replace the coil, and they should have that on their list to replace. That coil is part and center of an air conditioner. And there should be some standards about why or how it's replaced.
We've had ours for 18 years and it finally died. Then they told us, since it died after we renewed the contract, "We can't give you any rebate money. If it had died before you renewed your contract, there would have been some substantial rebate money." They should have never told me about that at all because now I'm really ticked off. And with all the changes that are coming because of the changes in the state laws, in other words after this year, there's no more Freon in the state of Arizona. You wouldn't be able to get it to fix your machines. So we have to replace our machine plus 0-12 the size of my house is no longer acceptable by the state so you have to go to 16. So were about 12,500 in debt because of that. We have to put it on 4 to 5 credit cards. If we had known what was our responsibility and if the Total Protect had said 'Well, because it died after 18 years of use, we'd give you a rebate on it.' But nope. They did everything they could not to. Well, that's the main office and they're not quite as understanding as the people who come and repair or the people who come and inspect.

However a couple of years ago I had a situation that I had a problem with our PLUMBING and we had a problem with the PLUMBING COMPANY ITSELF. I understand that they’re not part of TotalProtect anymore because they blatantly lied. Because I never heard anything back I called in and that’s when I found out from the representative what the plumbing company had said, that we had cancelled the appointment, we were not going to be home... just all sorts of things that were not true. And the young lady that took care of us really went out of her way. She put me on hold, called somebody, got someone else to come out and the people that came out for the plumbing were excellent. As far as I was concerned, she went above and beyond.
We purchased a home warranty because we felt like it was a good thing in case something happened and that needed to be repaired. And you never know when you might need to have your home up for sale. It’s a good way of helping to sell your home. So we've had TotalProtect at least 10 years now and I have had excellent service with TotalProtect (we chose it because it was offered to us by Grow Financial and it automatically comes out of our checking account).

Most of my experience when submitting a claim has been pretty good. I haven't had any problems when submitting a claim. My interactions with the claims representative were usually very brief because I told them what the problem was and they said they would contact a service agent and that agent would contact me and set up a time to come out and do the repair work. I also have not had any problems with the technicians.
I would recommend them for most people that basically feel that it would be cost effective to use Total Protect, coz you're paying a certain amount per month and you'd like to think that somehow you're getting that money back through services or whatever. But I think if Total Protect was to increase their prices, like their monthly charges or co-payments and so forth, it would significantly reduce my interest in retaining them. So I have had no problem with Total Protect. They have been responsive to every time I called them. However, what’s considered an emergency on my part is not considered an emergency on their part, so I’m disappointed with that. They can do something with the speed and stuff in resolving an issue. But other than that, I’ve gotten good service. The claims rep has been informative. They’ve done all they could do when something is out and you happen to wait. Technicians they sent have been courteous and respectful of my home. I’ve been pleased with their work. Overall, we had a great experience.

Total Protect has done a good job with their service. It's just I had to wait for the service technician to come out and fix something sometimes. The claims reps have been good and responded well in checking on things about it. The Charlotte Air Experts were the ones that got here and fixed it and they did a good job. We've gotten along well with them.

My mother kept telling me how awesome Total Protect was. We had bought our house three years ago and most of our appliances and stuff were fairly new, even the ones that came with the house were fairly new, but she said that I need to be protected. She said when I first bought it we should be protected. I didn't listen. By the third year, I finally listened and said, "Okay, fine, I'll go ahead and get it," and so we got it.
Submitting a claim was very simple and awesome. I did it online. When our air conditioner went out, it was Memorial weekend and so I didn't call on Friday because I thought because it was a weekend and it was after-hours that it might be higher the way some charge extra for emergency because it's a weekend period. We didn't call until Tuesday. The technician did a good job. He had to keep coming back and so it took a little bit longer than we had expected and a little bit more in detail than we had expected. Everyone was friendly and kind.
We also liked the Facebook thing and put it on Facebook and we had told people. As a matter of fact, the guy who came and did our air conditioner, he and his assistant, were actually talking about getting the Total Protect, because not only did he like what I was saying about them, but he liked the professional side, as far as being able to call. He said a lot of the warranty people that he's gone through are so difficult to even get to work with, so he doesn't even want to connect with some of the warranty people but he was so pleased with them that he thought about getting it. I thought that was pretty neat.

I have been with this company Total Protect for a couple of years and am paying for their highest 'Gold Plan'.
I have had it with them today and canceled the contract. My garage door's torsion spring broke and I clearly explained to them over the phone and a claim number was given. When the technician shows up, I am told since the spring is part of the door and not the opener, it is not covered. I had to pay the technician (who was sub-contracted from another company) $460 to replace the spring. It is a rip off. This should have been a $60 copay job. These guys should be taken to court. When you signup for the policy, they talk as if everything is covered. Just look at their website and all the categories of coverage shown. Then they bury the foot print in the contract deep inside.
Stay away from these guys and save your money. They are unethical unprofessional folks. I will do my best to spread this experience of mine all over the web in social media sites, complain to BBB etc.
Shiv, I’m sorry to hear that you’re not happy with your experience or the outcome of your claim. We’re here to make home ownership easy; we don’t intend to deny claims outright. We do however have to adhere to the terms and conditions of your Agreement. We were able to investigate your situation further and regret that in this instance we couldn’t provide coverage. - Stephanie

Total Protect Home Warranty was offered through our mortgage company. Normally we think it’s a waste of time, effort, money, but it sounded like a good thing because their house is not brand new and you have the potential to have problems with things. So, we took the home warranty.
We had experienced submitting a claim recently and it was handled very well. We had a washer that had to be replaced. They sent someone out to look at it, to see if it could be repaired. I think that’s how it works; they can either repair them or replace, whichever is more advantageous. Anyway, the repairs were gonna be like $1200, both parts and pieces. I told them, “You cannot be serious. You’re gonna repair a washer for $1200? You can buy a new one for $500-700.” Anyway they did replace it.
The only problem I had was they took all the specs from my washer and they tried to match it up with one that was the most like it. I looked at it online and I thought it would probably be okay. I didn’t know that it was gonna be an inefficient washer; they don’t fill up with water. It’s not like my old one. You don’t realize until you get one and you start to use it that it’s not gonna be like the one you had. Maybe I’m just not used to the agitation system and the fact that high-efficiency washers do not fill up. I did call the company back, but there wasn’t anything they could do about it. But that was my only problem. Otherwise, they did a really good job. They seemed very concerned about handling your problem and were very quick to take care of it. It didn’t take very long to get the washer in. We’ve been very pleased actually.

Total Protect was on my paper on my house payment. It came from CitiMortgage. They kept on sending me all the time, so I figured, "Oh, what the heck. I might as well do it." The first claim I had was horrible. I had an air conditioner I had to get fixed that took forever to fix. The claims representative was trying her best, but it's just the people that they have doing the job; they weren't familiar with my air conditioner. I had another claim, the water heater. I had a busted line that was leaking on top of the water heater, so they came out and replaced it and that was fine. They've always been wonderful because they've been trying their hardest. The last people that I had come out were really nice. They do a wonderful job.

I've submitted two or three claims to Total Protect and I've been very satisfied every time. One time they had a problem but that was with the provider. Total Protect followed up and took care of it. They're very good overall.
