The cold water valve feeding my washing machine went bad. Called Total Protect and a knowledeable and efficient operator took the information and notifed a plumbing company. A technician came out that day, assessed the problem and fixed the problem. I have to say that I am completely satisfied with this encounter with Total Protect and their plumbing agent. This was a small problem and I hope if have a larger more complicated probelm the encounter will be the same. Thanks Total Protect. As far as a decription of the problem, the plumber removed the broken valve and replaced it with a new one. Any debris that was generated (minimal) was cleaned up by the technician. Totally satisfied with this encounter.

My advise to any policy buyer is to stay away from this company. No wonders they are cheaper than most companies......whatever they are getting from the customers stays in their pocket. I am reporting them to BBB and heading to small claims court. I'll also put up the review on as many websites as possible to warn prospective customers to stay away from this un-professionalism.
Dear Vibhor,
Thank you for your honest feedback about your experience. We have noted the time delays in the processing of your claim and apologize for the additional effort you had to take with your microwave claim. We reviewed the information and confirmed that the Terms and Conditions of your Agreement were followed appropriately. As with any warranty program, there are limitations and conditions that are not eligible for coverage. We are sorry that in this instance your claim was denied. If you have any additional concerns please contact us directly. Thanks - Stephanie.

Appliances were getting older and TotalProtect Home Warranty had a good policy so I went with them. I've been with them for about ten years now. So far I've used them several times. It's easy to submit a claim and the techs have all been fairly good. I had one that worked on the air conditioner that wasn't too swift and he had to come back and do the same thing over again. But other than that, no real problem at all. Overall it's been very good... I had good service, I had good contractors, I had no qualms whatsoever.

I was stupid for years, I didn’t realize that something like a home warranty existed. This is my first home so unless somebody tells you things like this, you don't really know. So, my brother and I were talking and he said "Oh, honey, you need to get a home warranty. Call TotalProtect." He went over it with me. Then they sent me information, that's when I signed up with them, and it's been wonderful. Every time I have something wrong, they're just right there for me. But this last experience was horrible for me. It was the air conditioning and the people that we chose. But it wasn't TotalProtect's fault. TotalProtect was right there and I appreciated them so much. I would never want to go to anyone else.

I’ve been with TotalProtect for about 7 years or so now. I never had a home warranty before. At the time, I was just looking for ways that I could possibly get back closer to a stable income. I had been retired for a couple of years and if I had certain things happen, it wouldn’t quite fit into my budget - and I was trying to find a way to do that, and that has helped.
I’ve had several calls placed with TotalProtect. I’ve never had any problem getting an answer. All the services I’ve had have been within a reasonable amount of time. I haven’t had any problems with the claims representatives. I’ve either called in or gone online to place a claim and I’ve gotten answer back within a couple of hours. That’s good for an online service that I had. I’d say about two hours, I would have a call either from them or from the people that would come out and service the equipment.
I had one technician about 3 weeks ago when the heat and air system went out; I had no air conditioning. I placed a call online. I got a call back from the people that had the contract. They told me that I would hear from his contractor that was gonna come out and service the equipment. I talked to him within about 3 hours. We arranged the date for them to come out and work on the air conditioning system. It took two or three days because it’s on a weekend and I did not request it to be an emergency because I was the only one here and I really didn’t care if the air conditioner was on or not that much. They came out and the fellow fixed the air conditioner within a matter of an hour or so, and I’ve had no trouble with it. Overall, you know what your expenses is going to be up front, and everything gets done the way they advertise it. That’s all I can ask for.

When I purchased my house five years ago, I had a home warranty for the first year and then I decided to just keep one but I wasn't satisfied with my home warranty so I went with Total Protect. I haven't had any issues submitting claims to them. The only issue I had was last summer when we had difficulties with my AC and I was left without AC for about two months while in a dispute with Total Protect Gold as far as what was covered and what wasn't. In the whole dispute, I had 3 different technicians that were sent out and they all had different diagnoses on the problem. I ended up using an outside vendor and paying them out of pocket, and Total Protect Gold reimbursed me for a portion of it. That wasn't a pleasurable experience but I still kept them around for some time being.
I communicated with them both through email and phone call. Their reps are informative; I just didn't agree with what items were and weren't covered because I ended up being out of pocket about $1800 to get my AC back up and running and made me wonder why I was paying for a home warranty service to begin with. Other than the AC issue, they've been pretty quick and responsive and they've been able to repair everything. I’ve had a few calls here and there, like my most recent one which was a light fixture that went out and that was pretty quick to be taken care of, and a dishwasher that wasn’t heating right and they replaced the heating elements. Everything was handled pretty quickly and with no headache.

Our mortgage company sent us a flyer about TotalProtect and we went ahead and took it out of our mortgage because the one we already had was about to expire. We've submitted a couple claims with this company and this last one was real easy. They did what they said they were supposed to, were told everything that was gonna happen step by step the whole way, and they were very friendly. The technicians showed up when they were supposed to. It couldn't have gone better. They have done a good work. I highly recommend it and have already recommended TotalProtect to several people.

We’ve been living in this house for a long time and we like our house to be kept up. I heard about TotalProtect Home Warranty from City Mortgage. Then, I thought, because of our age, I’m 80 and my husband is 85, this TotalProtect would really help me in the long run. It was the first time I have heard of home warranty and we decided to get TotalProtect.
All of the people we interacted with at TotalProtect have been very nice and polite, and answered all our questions. The times when I submitted a claim, the first person I spoke to was the claims representative and she helped me out. Then they got in contact with a contractor, either a plumber or electrician, and I heard from the person right away. Before I know it, the job was done. If I needed it, they did it. If I didn’t need it, they told me. They did their job and left everything clean. From the first person to the last person that came to my house, they were excellent. So, I’m very, very pleased with TotalProtect. This was the best company. I’ve never had home warranty before, but to have all of this was very nice.

It's easy to submit claims to Total Protect. I do it on the laptop and it automatically gives me all the information real quick. The claims representatives call me and I call them and they're very prompt and give me the information on a very prompt basis. I had an air conditioning system that was malfunctioning and the technician was very helpful and fixed it very quickly - there were no expenses other than the deductible. There was a claim on a built-in microwave and they needed a part. That did take like about a month to get the delivery but they came back and installed the part and fixed it to a new condition. There is one problem: I had a dishwasher that was a Maytag that needed repair and they couldn't repair it so they replaced it with a different brand that was not as good as my Maytag.

We've had Total Protect for years. It originally came with information from our home loan. Originally it was included in our house payment, and then through the changes in whatever, we ended up taking it up. We pay it monthly now because it's really a great deal than if we just take care of it ourselves. When I submit a claim, I do everything on the phone. I'm older, I do not work well with computers and I would much rather talk to a person. I've had to put in several claims. I have bragging rights about them at work; several people have passed on their name and information. I just have a brand new washing machine. We saw it for $1100-$1200 and it's now sitting right beside my old dryer. It's fantastic. The claims reps were always nice and very helpful. I have no complaints at all. I've never had a problem with the technicians. Everyone was nice and cooperative and they go out of their way.

We had dealt with Total Protect Home Warranty before in another state and we got a flyer in the mail here. We signed up for them because we thought it would be a sensible thing to do. Submitting a claim has been a mixture of good and bad. We usually have quick response. But the provider that's going to do the actual work, we sometimes have difficulty making sure they get in touch with us consistently on getting back to us on what they're going to do and when they're going to do it.
Our interactions with the claims representative were fine. They're always professional when I ask questions and they give me the information that I need. And the technicians, they come in and do what they're supposed to do which is inspect then give me the cost of the repair or what we need to do to proceed. I haven't had any complaints. The company does what it's supposed to do. Consistently, they stay in touch with me. They do follow up when we start a claim and work out from there.

I have been extremely happy with Total Protect. When I had a problem with my washing machine the people you sent were here within a reasonable time and the job was quickly done. However the people you sent when my AC went out do not want to repair, they want to replace my entire unit and have held this claim up for 6 days by not supplying the proper information so you can make a decission. They, in my opinion are unethical in their business practice. I don't want them back in my home. It is very hot in Florida and to make my family suffer in this heat just so they can make more money stinks. I don't trust them.

We've had Total Protect Home Warranty for a few years. We decided to have it because the builder of the homes in this particular subdivision went belly up, so if something went wrong, there was no recourse for the homeowner, period. We've been very lucky; I mean, on top of which we were very, very careful when we had the house built; we were heavily involved in it. But it just seemed like a good thing to do. We really haven't had a lot of problems, thank goodness.
I've had no problem when submitting claims; that's been the easy part of the process. The recent visit that we had, though, we really had some difficulties and this has been like the third time this particular contractor did not follow up in what I would consider to be reasonable amount of time. The visit was about our air conditioner. The issue there is I have an autoimmune disorder that you don't do well in severe temperatures, and our air conditioner went out. I called in to report and was expecting to get a call back from the company; that did not happen. I ended up calling back.
We had a horrible storm come through the night before five or six different companies in the area, couldn't get anybody to respond. The guy they got a hold of said that he wouldn't be able to come out for a couple of days. I just said that cannot happen because it's extremely hot at the time and I wasn't doing very well, so they tried to get another company to come in. I called back the next day and they still couldn't get anybody, so then they outsourced it. They told me to find a company, which we did; it's a company that we've used before outside of the warranty program, and they were able to come out that afternoon.
So instead of being three or four days without air, I was only without air overnight. But it took me calling the home warranty company back to get that information or in pushing the issue and saying, 'Look, if it's been a normal situation, that would've have been different,' but were experiencing pretty high temperatures at that point. The warranty company was aware that I had a medical issue, so I felt like there should've been a little more follow-up on it from the warranty company themselves. It's something they may not really think about, but if you have somebody that has a medical condition where heating or cooling can be an issue, it's something that they need to follow up on, instead of just thinking everything's gonna be hunky-dory.
I just wish that they had better quality companies that they're doing their warranty program with, because they're using a lot of mom-and-pop operations and I think the reason they're doing that is because they can get a lower price for it, but I think that overall, it's costing them more money to do that than if they used a reputable company that can turn this stuff around quicker. Anyway, the contractor diagnosed the problem almost instantly, which was what I suspected and told the warranty company, and had the thing replaced in like 10 minutes. So my experience with them was still very positive.

I've been with Total Protect Home Warranty for about 10 years now. It was through my mortgage company that introduced it to us. At the time, I thought it was a good idea, and I've been singing the praises of this type of warranty for years now. It just stumbled across us and I found it to be a very good deal. Submitting claim with them has gotten much better because everything is automated. They give you the option to do it over the phone or online, and I like that because my system is slow and I'm frustrated, so I call them directly. In the last four or five years, they've gotten a lot better with their professionalism, their employees and the friendliness. They've been improving continuously and I've been very happy with them. I've been impressed over the years. They're good.
The claims representatives are excellent. On a scale of 1 to 10, they're an 11. I don't recall anyone ever being bad. They've been very consistent, very friendly, very helpful and very professional. The technicians' quality is okay. Our last experience with our air conditioning, they had a company come out and they supposedly solved the problem but they did not. They came out a second time with another technician, and they gave up. My guess is that they were not very experienced, but Total Protect quickly got another company to come out that solved the problem. The problem was solved, but they had to order parts. The manufacturer of the air conditioner is Trane and probably there are not a lot of companies out there that are trained on Trane but they did find the correct technician to come out. It's working right now and we're very satisfied.

I would say that my experience with TotalProtect was excellent, although I'm not very happy with the company that serviced my air conditioner last time. The young man that came out to service my air condition was good but he told me that it needed cleaning - the reason why it was making that sound and that protection did not cover that. It was $150 and I said 'Okay fine'. So I called their office and scheduled an appointment. They gave me an appointment date. I took off from work and straight home and waited.
They never called, never showed up. I called the company back, left a voice mail saying I'm sitting here. No one has called. No one has come by and no one ever contacted me - even to this day I haven't received a call back from that company to tell me what happened, why I wasted a day of work, nothing. Up until now I can still hear the noises.

I previously had a home warranty with a different warranty company for about 10 years. I got it through my mortgage. They stopped offering it through the mortgage. When they stopped, I had to re sign up with them or with someone else. Then I got this flyer of TotalProtect in the mail and saw that their price was better. So I went on and signed up. Submitting the claim was not difficult. You call in and they give you information and tell you “we’re going to send out...” and all that but getting someone here was an issue. It took a little bit longer than I had experience with my previous warranty company.
I had a claim for our air conditioner. They came out and fixed it - we thought. Within 24 hours, it was broken again. So they had to change something and it took them a couple more days to come out to figure out what was going on. Then they came out and they said they had to order parts because it was something that had to be replaced, but it took them almost two and a half weeks to replace it.
I have another unit, so I was able to keep my house bearable. But it was a little bit frustrating because it took so long to get my air conditioner fixed. Overall it was an average experience. The claims representatives were very nice. When they called to get an update, they were pretty prompt. That’s one of the things that I want, they did follow up on their side.

The claims reps have been fairly brief, straightforward and to the point. A lot of times, the claims are handled by the automated system, without having to require an intervention of an actual person. I've had several calls, several different technicians for different problems or issues with different pieces of equipment and they've been fairly straightforward too. For the most part, my experience with them has been fairly good with no problems -- I'm perfectly happy with the quality of their work except there was one instance where I had some difficulty with the initial contractor they recommended... I decided to look into having a home warranty because I have a home and, for the price, it doesn't seem bad to have a warranty to cover a lot of the things in the house. I chose a TotalProtect because I heard about it through another client that they used to have.
Submitting a claim on the internet seems user friendly and easy enough. The representatives were very courteous and respectful. They’re knowledgeable about the services that the company offers. And for the most part, they were very timely, as far as getting back to me and scheduling appointments for them to come out. But it took a little bit of time for some parts to come in. I understand that’s not the technician’s fault. It’s been a week ago when they fixed my dryer but it’s still having some problems that I noticed over the weekend. But I haven’t had the chance to call back today because I've been at work. Other than that, it was fine. They got back to me in a timely manner after I filed a claim, we set appointments, they came out and checked it out and then came back. And for the most part, in terms of their quality of work, it’s pretty good.

I had four technicians that serviced my appliance. The first guy came and looked at it and he couldn't find anything wrong. It was working. He left and it quit within 6 hours. Then another one came and he said it needed a part and they didn't have it but he could bypass it to make it run for the weekend - it would last. It burnt up that night, burnt the fan up and everything else. We lived without air condition for a week. It was the hottest week we've had. Right now it’s finally fixed. But I was really upset at the time.
I know it wasn't as good as it should have been. I don’t think the guy was knowledgeable... It’s just that sometimes you get a bad person that’s working for the companies. But overall, TotalProtect is great. We’re pretty satisfied with our experience with them. Submitting a claim was easy - just call ‘em up, they take care of it right there and give you a phone number of the company to call. We've told people about it and said it was a good deal and got them thinking (so they may get some new customers). In our case we’ve only been here a couple of years and already things were breaking down so we figured it would be better to space it out over a year’s time than have to put up full $500 every time they come.

TotalProtect is a pretty good company. My wife got it when we first bought the house. The claim is rather easily done. You can do it by phone, by person, over the computer, or your iPhone. So they've made it fairly easy to submit a claim. The technician that came to service my appliance, we had good rapport. He knew his stuff. I’m not angry with the experience. All my experiences with TotalProtect had been great. But there are some problems with what they will and will not fix...
When you're a heart patient like me, or you're a diabetic in this particular area we live in, down here in this desert, sometimes they're not as compliant to fix things as quickly as they should. I know they can't give special treatment to some people, but sometimes that needs to be taken into account. The other problem is there are some things that we don't know as homeowners that is our responsibility for maintenance, and I think it would be to Total Protect's advantage if they were to put out a booklet saying, 'Look, you need to do this to your air conditioner once a year, twice a year. You need to do this to your dishwasher every once in a while.' No booklets come with these machines that tell you what your responsibility for maintenance is. It's only when it comes time to repair it do you find that, 'Oh, we won't repair that because you didn't do the maintenance. You were negligent.'
Well, it would be a lot easier for somebody to put out a booklet saying, 'Yes, this is your responsibility to keep track of or take care of.' And then you wouldn't have a problem. When you submit a claim, it would be a legitimate claim because we know what our responsibility is as opposed to Total Protect's. We usually find out these things the hard way when it could be so much easier. I don't understand why somebody hasn't done that yet. It doesn't cost much to get with the people who either repair them, which is where I would go. I'd find a decent company, have them write a maintenance manual for the owner. And then I would assemble it and send it out to all the people in Total Protect and say, 'Look, here is your owner's manual for everything you may or may not own. And this is your responsibility to take care of when other things go bad. Then it's our turn to step in and take care of it. And if you were to do that, many other companies may come to you to ask that you do that for them. And that's where you make your money back.
The other thing that I want to bring up is that sometimes they don't proof the companies that come out here. So some of them know their stuff and some of them are jerking you around. And there should be some way you can check the certification to make sure that these people know what they're talking about. If they would go to Angie's List where they've already been screened because they're certified to know what they're supposed to know.
90% of them that we've had had told the truth about what's going on with our machine. But we had a few that just came out and just pumped Freon in it and didn't check anything else out. When you do that then the rest of the machine suffers because you don't know what's in there that's becoming a problem. Several people, over the course of air conditioner repair as an example, would come out and say nothing wrong with it, it just needs Freon, and they keep pumping Freon into it, and finally one of the valves broke because the pressure was too high. Because they never went upstairs into the attic to check to see what else was wrong with it. And then one guy came out and he said, "I got to check the system from top to bottom." When he checked the system, the valve, that determines the pressure that the air sort of come out at, was up to temperature, it drops back but it still blows. It just doesn't blow at the same ferocity as it would if it has to cool it down.
There were metal shavings in there from the day that the machine was manufactured. That should never have happened. Somebody, 2 to 3 years before this guy came should have caught that. This is what I mean with people not knowing when they come out here -- they go screw out the back and check the Freon. They never check if there's a leak upstairs in the attic. They never see if the coil is rusted, although they won't replace the coil, and they should have that on their list to replace. That coil is part and center of an air conditioner. And there should be some standards about why or how it's replaced.
We've had ours for 18 years and it finally died. Then they told us, since it died after we renewed the contract, "We can't give you any rebate money. If it had died before you renewed your contract, there would have been some substantial rebate money." They should have never told me about that at all because now I'm really ticked off. And with all the changes that are coming because of the changes in the state laws, in other words after this year, there's no more Freon in the state of Arizona. You wouldn't be able to get it to fix your machines. So we have to replace our machine plus 0-12 the size of my house is no longer acceptable by the state so you have to go to 16. So were about 12,500 in debt because of that. We have to put it on 4 to 5 credit cards. If we had known what was our responsibility and if the Total Protect had said 'Well, because it died after 18 years of use, we'd give you a rebate on it.' But nope. They did everything they could not to. Well, that's the main office and they're not quite as understanding as the people who come and repair or the people who come and inspect.

I’ve had no problems when submitting a claim. They’re always very good. They’re very professional and they answer any questions I have. I’ve had a good experience with everyone. However a couple of years ago I had a situation that I had a problem with our PLUMBING and we had a problem with the PLUMBING COMPANY ITSELF. I understand that they’re not part of TotalProtect anymore because they blatantly lied. Because I never heard anything back I called in and that’s when I found out from the representative what the plumbing company had said, that we had cancelled the appointment, we were not going to be home... just all sorts of things that were not true. And the young lady that took care of us really went out of her way. She put me on hold, called somebody, got someone else to come out and the people that came out for the plumbing were excellent. As far as I was concerned, she went above and beyond.
We purchased a home warranty because we felt like it was a good thing in case something happened and that needed to be repaired. And you never know when you might need to have your home up for sale. It’s a good way of helping to sell your home. So we've had TotalProtect at least 10 years now and I have had excellent service with TotalProtect (we chose it because it was offered to us by Grow Financial and it automatically comes out of our checking account).
This last time, we have to get a new refrigerator at some point in time, and some of the information wasn’t explained to me all together, so I called back in and it was explained, so that’s good. The technician was very good. He was clean, he was very professional, he told us everything he was doing as he was doing it, and he explained everything.

TotalProtect was offered through Chase Bank which holds my mortgage. I owned a home and I thought it was important to have certain things covered. I figured that if Chase Bank backed TotalProtect then I couldn't go wrong. The process when submitting a claim is simple. Every time I call, they set everything up and everything is taken care of and after I get finished, they do a follow up. The technician who came completed the work properly. I just used them 2 months ago to service my air conditioner. I'm completely satisfied and would not change companies at this point for nothing especially since I hear a lot of bad news about other companies.

This is the first time I've ever filed a claim since I've been in my home, and I haven't had any problem. My interaction with the lady on the phone was extremely nice and she tried to get my appointment as soon as possible. The technician that serviced my appliances was nice as well. We had a home warranty when we first bought the house in 07 and when that ran out, we knew we needed to get another one. I got information through BofA bank and we looked through Total Protect, and it suited what we needed. They had a good program.
Our experience in submitting a claim was excellent, no problems whatsoever. Interaction with the claims representative went very well. What happened was she had called one contractor to come out and it would be like 7 days before the contractor comes out. So I called her back and explained to her and she said, "No, I can do better than that." So she called another company and called in and that company came within an hour. The guy did what he was supposed to do. He got it done, can't get any better than that. The problem that we had, that was completed, and I've had no more problems with it.

They gave me a contractor that was to contact me, and they did.

I've had Total Protect now for 3 or 4 years and I took them because I was in a situation where my appliances were getting old, so I thought it might be cost effective to do that, plus I wanted the convenience of being able to go to one person and get someone to support me in getting the service. Most of my experience when submitting a claim has been pretty good. I haven't had any problems when submitting a claim. My interactions with the claims representative were usually very brief because I told them what the problem was and they said they would contact a service agent and that agent would contact me and set up a time to come out and do the repair work. I also have not had any problems with the technicians.
I would recommend them for most people that basically feel that it would be cost effective to use Total Protect, coz you're paying a certain amount per month and you'd like to think that somehow you're getting that money back through services or whatever. But I think if Total Protect was to increase their prices, like their monthly charges or co-payments and so forth, it would significantly reduce my interest in retaining them. So I have had no problem with Total Protect. They have been responsive to every time I called them. In most instances, they were able to get a service agent to my home within a short period of time, 2 or 3 days. That's kind of the gist of it.

When I called, the gentleman didn't seem to be too interested in that so I cancelled it and ended up calling the guy who had done the AC for me originally. I did not have a good feeling about him at this time. I called back, started a new claim, and they were very, very nice.
Within a couple of days, I had somebody out here to check it and they did a fabulous job. They were professional, and they explained more of my policy than I did know. I ended up replacing my AC rather than spending $800 on a compressor that in two years was going to have to replace anyway. They did a great job with the work and it was a great experience. It took a while for us to get somebody here. We were like four days in the heat, because Total Protect doesn't have anybody locally. We've had better service before but it's fixed. In the past, normally Sears was sent out. It's mainly been our refrigerator when we call. The only problem with Sears, which is not Total Protect's fault, is Sears doesn't come out with parts. They come here, see what the problem is, order the parts and you'd have to wait a week. That's the part I don't like. Then it gets mailed to our place of residence and they come back and fix it. This last time, it was the air. The air-conditioning guy had the parts. That was no problem; it got fixed the same day. It's just that it took 4 days for them to find somebody locally in our area. We had bought our house three years ago and most of our appliances and stuff were fairly new, even the ones that came with the house were fairly new, but she said that I need to be protected. She said when I first bought it we should be protected. I didn't listen. By the third year, I finally listened and said, "Okay, fine, I'll go ahead and get it," and so we got it.
Submitting a claim was very simple and awesome. I did it online. When our air conditioner went out, it was Memorial weekend and so I didn't call on Friday because I thought because it was a weekend and it was after-hours that it might be higher the way some charge extra for emergency because it's a weekend period. We didn't call until Tuesday. The technician did a good job. He had to keep coming back and so it took a little bit longer than we had expected and a little bit more in detail than we had expected. Everyone was friendly and kind.
We also liked the Facebook thing and put it on Facebook and we had told people. As a matter of fact, the guy who came and did our air conditioner, he and his assistant, were actually talking about getting the Total Protect, because not only did he like what I was saying about them, but he liked the professional side, as far as being able to call. He said a lot of the warranty people that he's gone through are so difficult to even get to work with, so he doesn't even want to connect with some of the warranty people but he was so pleased with them that he thought about getting it. I thought that was pretty neat.

I have had it with them today and canceled the contract. My garage door's torsion spring broke and I clearly explained to them over the phone and a claim number was given. When the technician shows up, I am told since the spring is part of the door and not the opener, it is not covered. I had to pay the technician (who was sub-contracted from another company) $460 to replace the spring. It is a rip off. This should have been a $60 copay job. These guys should be taken to court. When you signup for the policy, they talk as if everything is covered. Just look at their website and all the categories of coverage shown. Then they bury the foot print in the contract deep inside.
Stay away from these guys and save your money. They are unethical unprofessional folks. I will do my best to spread this experience of mine all over the web in social media sites, complain to BBB etc.

Total Protect Home Warranty was offered through our mortgage company. Normally we think it’s a waste of time, effort, money, but it sounded like a good thing because their house is not brand new and you have the potential to have problems with things. So, we took the home warranty.
We had experienced submitting a claim recently and it was handled very well. We had a washer that had to be replaced. They sent someone out to look at it, to see if it could be repaired. I think that’s how it works; they can either repair them or replace, whichever is more advantageous. Anyway, the repairs were gonna be like $1200, both parts and pieces. I told them, “You cannot be serious. You’re gonna repair a washer for $1200? You can buy a new one for $500-700.” Anyway they did replace it.
The only problem I had was they took all the specs from my washer and they tried to match it up with one that was the most like it. I looked at it online and I thought it would probably be okay. I didn’t know that it was gonna be an inefficient washer; they don’t fill up with water. It’s not like my old one. You don’t realize until you get one and you start to use it that it’s not gonna be like the one you had. Maybe I’m just not used to the agitation system and the fact that high-efficiency washers do not fill up. I did call the company back, but there wasn’t anything they could do about it. But that was my only problem. Otherwise, they did a really good job. They seemed very concerned about handling your problem and were very quick to take care of it. It didn’t take very long to get the washer in. We’ve been very pleased actually.

I have had a really good experience with TotalProtect because I had my washer trashed and they replaced it. They've also replaced my heat pump. Submitting a claim was an experience because you have to call this and press this, press that and all that, and then if you finally get somebody on the phone, sometimes it's somebody that's inexperienced, or they got to put you on hold and wait till they can get somebody on the phone. Now, that's the only bad thing I've had, doing that sort of thing. That's what happened. And it's been every time I've called. I've had them now for 4 or 5 years so every single time, you get somebody that don't even know what they're talking about. And then they put you on hold, and blah blah. I got a Total Protect flyer in my mortgage statement and it seemed like a no-brainer to me to sign up for them. When your house gets to be a certain age, stuff breaks. I'm a single mother, my family is living on one income, I have three children, an 81-year-old mother, so it seemed like a smart investment. I didn't know there was any such thing until I got the flyer. I really don't have anything to compare it to because this is the only policy of this type that I've ever bought, but I actually think the company's been really good.
The people who take the claims over the phone are usually really confident and understand that there's normally some sense of urgency over it. They've been very friendly and knowledgeable; some more than others, but generally I would give them a good grade for that. Every contractor who has come into this house has been excellent, except for one. They have my washing machine replaced, and the guy who came in broke the tile floor. But actually, it wasn't such big deal.
More homeowners should be aware of these kinds of policy, because I've had it for a few years but when I talk to other people about it, my friends, my family, nobody even knows that you can do this sort of thing. It's helped me quite a bit. A couple of guys have been here maybe two weeks ago because I just had a garage door opener broke after it's been here since 1998. The guys were fabulous. They had a couple of problems with the jobs so they had to make a long trip to go and buy some parts and be back. They worked until like 7:30 at night just to get it all done the same day. They're really, really good; they left everything clean behind them and they even brought their coffee cups upstairs when they were finished.

I've had TotalProtect home Warranty for 10 years and it was on an offer along with my mortgage. I looked into it and decided to go with it. Submitting a claim to them has been very easy and very efficient. Almost every time I've had something, I just did it online. The last couple of times, I didn't even talk to anybody from TotalProtect. It was all done via email and they just gave me someone to call and they told me who to call via email. The technician was very knowledgeable and knew what he was doing and fixed it really quick.

We had gotten too expensive for our previous provider. We had to replace the furnace and an air conditioner. They dropped us for too many claims. So we decided to sign up with TotalProtect. It's been fine. We went with them because TotalProtect had the quarterly maintenance. In fact, I just had one today but I can't schedule those on the website. I wish I could. But I can schedule a repair on the website, which is great.
When I call, the claims representatives take the information. They tell me that the person will call and they don't so I always have to call. Like the plumber who was just here today from the plumbing check. He says, "Oh, they'll call you." And I go, "No, they don't." So I wish they would either get some of their vendors more consistent with what they say they'll do. I don't mind calling but tell me, "You'll need to call and schedule the appointment for the information that you need in order to do that," rather than say, "Oh, they'll call you," because I don't think I've ever had a single one call me.
With the technicians, we just show them where they need to be looking and if they have feedback, they identify potential issue. If I'm having a particular issue, they'll look at it and if it's something they can address right there on the fly like the guy today did, then that's great. Or some would say, "Definitely, this is what you need to do. I can call and authorize a repair for you." I've had that happen as well. And so I would say on the whole, they've been very professional. So for me, it's a good protection particularly when you have an older home like we do.

Stuff would fall apart and the expenses are too high so I decided to get a home warranty. I went with TotalProtect because the price was reasonable. Their monthly payment and their deductible is not too bad either. When submitting a claim, I normally go online and submit the claim. Within minutes, they email with the name of the company that I need to use to get the problem fixed and the phone number. I call the company up and make an appointment. I enjoyed the quality of work for everything that I ordered. I also like the fact that when I do call and talk to a customer representative, they're very nice, friendly and very knowledgeable on the items that they provide as well as the service. It's easy to use and cost efficient.

I've had two bad experiences with TotalProtect on some of the people that they brought into my house. One, they brought in an 18-year-old kid to troubleshoot my air conditioning system. It turned in to be a nightmare and all it was was resetting the outside unit. All you had to do was press the reset button. It took three service people before we finally got that figured out. And then there was a guy they sent to my house. I had a duct come off my air conditioning upstairs in my attic. He said he put it back on and he did but it came back off again. When I called him on the phone, he said, "Well, that hose is too short when they built the house". And he wants $400 to change the hose. So I ended up getting a hose for $65 and I changed it myself.

The claims representatives were very professional and very courteous, answered all my questions. I really appreciate the speed the submissions have been made. They’re very down-to-earth when explaining things to me. All the technicians have been professional except for one when I submitted a claim for my stove. In the past, I've always paid with a check but he asked me for a debit card. I didn't appreciate that. But that was the only issue I had with the technician. The works have all been great. I never felt like there’s a difference, like when the technician comes to the house, some from past experience, they treat me differently coz I’m a woman. I've never had that experience with technicians from Total Protect. I really enjoy working with these people.

Total Protect Home Warranty - this company is a joke. I have requested paperwork from them 3 times and have still not received it. My A/C went out 3 weeks ago. They sent a service man out and he said it needs a part and not sure if he can find it. This guy didn't even have batteries for his flashlight or a receipt book. So I was down in the basement holding my phone for light and had to give him a piece of paper. After awhile I decided to sit down. My thought was I am paying these people. I don't need to be doing the work for them. He also did not give me anything showing he was out for service or what he thought was the problem. So I wait for a week and he calls and said can't find the part.
So Total Protect Home Warranty sends a second company out. I let them in the house and show them where everything is located. They went outside to the A/C unit and this time I followed. They inform me that they found 2 dead mice on the inside of the unit and this was what caused the problem on the outside unit. Now the first guy never, I repeat, never said a word about finding dead mice. Makes me wonder if I am being played. Maybe they work as a team in order to not have to pay a claim. And once again, the second company did not give me any paperwork showing they were out here and what the problem was. They sit in the driveway calling Total Protect Home Warranty. I checked on them every 10 minutes waiting to see what they were going to do. The last time I checked they were gone. Not one word from them. They just left. After all the runaround I have received from Total Protect Home Warranty, I do Not trust them. If you are looking for a Home Warranty, it is best that you look elsewhere. Not Total Protect Home Warranty. Just my experience and thought.

We’ve lived here for years. I know we’ve had Total Protect for quite some time now at least six years, or more. I’ve refinanced the house since we’ve gotten it, and I’m upset because their company doesn’t work with our company as far as taking it out of my mortgage payment. Since we’ve refinanced it, that’s the only problem that I’ve had.
In general, it has worked out very good in the past. This last experience was not as up to par as I thought it should be. The technician have all been very cordial, they’ve all been very knowledgeable and professional, but like I said, this last experience was probably the only bad experience we’ve had. And it wasn’t the technicians themselves; it was the company or whatever, I don’t know what their policies were. We have nine people in our house so we had no air conditioning for ten days.
I recommend Total protect all the time. I talk about them at work all the time. Other than this last one with the air conditioner, I would say Total Protect is extremely good as far as how everything is set up.

A girl friend at work told me that she had Total Protect Home Warranty. I decided to get it also because I was getting laid off, and I knew I would never return to work because I wanted to go on disability. It has been okay submitting a claim to Total Protect. The only thing is I would rather talk to a person than to a computer, and sometimes it’s very hard to get to a person.
Usually, the technicians that serviced my appliances just come in, find the appliance, fix it and they leave. However, the last time I called, I had a rough time. I had a problem with the air condition and the first guy was here for an hour. He said it was the thermostat and that he’d be back in a week. I am on disability, so I said to him “That’s not gonna work.” He said, “Well, that’s the best I can do.” I said, “No, it’s not. Do you have nothing on your truck? This is a standard thing.” He said, “Nope, I don’t, gotta go.”
So the next day I packed up all my inhalers from all the different rooms in the house, my handicap sticker, gathered up all my medicine and went and found these people. I said, “You have to make consideration for people who have health issues.” So, they did send somebody out in an hour and a half. The second guy was here, and he said it wasn’t the thermostat. He needed a switching valve and they would have to order it. He came back on a Saturday and was here for 8 hours. He fixed not only the switching valve but other things as well. He was repeatedly in my attic and outside. He said, “People have adjusted so many things and it’s not on the right settings. I’m not leaving until this is fixed.”
I did call the company and thanked them for sending me somebody who was so determined to get it working correctly. I really appreciated that, but I didn’t appreciate the attitude of the first kid. He made a very bad diagnosis. If he couldn’t fix it, then he should have given it to someone who could. Mostly I’m very glad I have TotalProtect, considering how much repairs would have cost. I know the rate is $100 an hour. I couldn’t have paid for it or the parts either. It’s nice to know that I can swing the $75, and they did work to make the repairs.

So far, they have been excellent in handling my claims. We had 2 claims before: One for our water heater and one for our washer. They never gave us a problem with either one. The technicians came to our home and explained everything to us. I understand that with a warranty they're gonna charge you with everything and fix the appliance no matter how old it is, unless it’s unrepairable.
My water heater, they fixed the same day. My washing machine was unrepairable and they replaced it. I had them out recently for my air conditioning unit. It broke at night time and they fixed it the first thing the next morning. We didn't have a problem at all. TotalProtect is well worth the money to me. They've been excellent. I found out about TotalProtect Home Warranty through Wachovia. It was about seven years ago and I moved into a townhouse that was a little bit older and I figured what’s going to happen is the burner is going to go or the air conditioner is going to go. And of course, when I was in there for two years, the air conditioner did go and the hot water heater went and it worked out very well that I have them. We had only one issue in probably the seven to eight issues. It was a cold night and we weren't going to get service for 24 hours. My wife was sick. I escalated to the next level and they were here within like six hours. That was a couple of years back, but we had an issue this past winter.
Recently, it’s been great. They've gotten better through the last couple of years. I had an issue with the hot water heater the other day, I called and asked for this one service company that’s for TotalProtect and the technician that came was terrific. In fact, I’m going to get him back personally because we have a humidifier and a burner that’s not covered. The house is going to be 10 years old here. I know the air conditioner is going soon and it’s good to know that I’m not going to have to shell out $4,000, $5,000 at once.

2 technicians came to the house agreed the unit was old, cant keep up with the the heat and must be replaced now. June 13 2014 to this day I'm still waiting for a call from them. I was denied to speak to a supervisor giving me the excuse that the reason for being denied was because it was a pre-existence problem when I bought the house on July 3 2013. It was fine, it's not been one year. Isn't that the reason that anyone buy a home warranty??? I'm looking for help if anyone have similar problems let me know please.

Having a home warranty sounded like a good investment so we went ahead with TotalProtect. I was satisfied with their claims process. It was very easy. Interacting with their sales rep was very pleasant. I think her name was Sheryl. I spoke with her on numerous occasions and she made sure that each time my concerns were met and my questions were answered. She made sure that everything was done to my satisfaction.
The first technician they sent didn't do such a good job. We had some problems, but Sheryl made sure that we got someone else out there. The quality of work is good. I’m very satisfied. Everybody in TotalProtect was very pleasant, very professional, and they really act like they care and are concerned about the people that they service and want to make sure that you’re satisfied and your problems are taken care of.

My son had TotalProtect and he was happy so I decided to have it myself. The house gets older and I get older and it just seems to be the thing to do. We had an issue when we had a problem with the heat and they were saying that they wouldn't send anybody out till a day or two later, because it wasn't cold enough. But the claims process was very easy. They generally ask straightforward questions and we answer the questions, and that's it. I found them unusually honest and open and they did a good job. I was satisfied with the service.

I first heard about Total Protect Home Warranty from Bank of America. It sounded good. It covered the equipment that I have. It was easy submitting a claim. The claims representative was very cordial and was able to answer to all my questions. I’ve called and made an appointment a couple of times because of the heating and cooling system. The fan on the cooling system kept blowing but we didn’t experience any cooling. The technician found a defect and he replaced it. They fixed it and it was done in less than an hour or so. Overall, my experience with Total was pleasant. They were all professional and competent.

I got TotalProtect home warranty when we first bought the house years ago. You can make a payment every month and then get the protection for the big ticket items. Submitting a claim was smooth, it was very quick; they got back with me very quickly and made my appointment. We had our air conditioning fixed and the technician was good, but they put the wires on the outside of the unit, which I didn't understand. I will have to call them, as a matter of fact. But the technician was very good, they were on time and everything, but they just had the wires exposed. I would recommend them to other people because I think they're a very good company and they're very efficient and professional.

You never know when you'll have something, an old appliance breaking down, or a new appliance and sometimes their working fires up after 90 days so I bought the TotalProtect Home Warranty. My experience submitting a claim was good; the claims representatives were real good. After a while that I used it, I liked the services I was getting from different companies that provide their services and the technicians that came were good... but not all of them. I had my dryer fixed for about six times before the other technician noticed that what the other technician was doing was totally wrong. However I was pleased that the other guy caught it.
So far everything's been real good. There have been ups and downs, not with Total Protect but with the technicians (only one or two, but the rest are real nice) so to me everything that Total Protect is doing is good. The price is pretty good also.

I first heard about TotalProtect Home Warranty through the bank. I thought it was a good idea to acquire a home warranty. TotalProtect was the one the bank recommended. They were great when I submitted a claim. The process was easy and the claims representatives were nice. They answered all my questions. The technicians who came to service my appliance were very polite, and they did real good. We didn’t have any complaints. I think everybody should have TotalProtect.

My experience in submitting a claim to them has been very good. The first one went very smooth; the second one we had some hiccups but we got it done. Communicating with their claims reps was good. We had some issues and they resolved it, so I can’t ask for any more than that. Both of the technicians they sent were very competent and did what they had to do, so it was not a problem. The quality of their work was very acceptable. I am satisfied with TotalProtect. I have shared my experience with other people that was not aware of the company and they seemed interested and maybe doing the same thing for their home.

My mortgage company sent me a flyer of TotalProtect Home Warranty and because I didn't want to have to replace an air conditioner or something I decided to purchase my home warranty from them. So far, it’s been very good and pretty easy when I submit a claim. The claims representatives were professional and I felt very comfortable with their technicians in that they listened and shared what they were doing so I would know what to look for. The whole experience was great.

TotalProtect Home Warranty was offered through Countrywide so we decided to have it. Submitting a claim was good and wasn't difficult at all. The claims representatives are good. But it seems to take them a long time while they’re here to get approval, not to do the job, when you have to find out what’s wrong. And when they call in, sometimes they stand around for an hour before they get confirmation. It’s the longest part of the whole thing. But so far, the technician that we've used twice lately, both for the plumbing, was good. He's been real knowledgeable, come in and get the work done. He came back the last time because they ordered some parts. The quality of their work: so far, so good. The guys are professional.

I've had Total Protect for a while. Everything has been well. I haven’t had any complaint. That’s why I’m still with them. The process in submitting a claim is easy. I tell them what the problem is, they make recommendations, and then they get someone out. The technicians have all been good. I ask a lot of questions, they explain the process and what needs to be done. The quality of their work is good. If there’s a problem I would call back. I've checked out other companies and they didn't cover as much as TotalProtect did and they haven’t raised their price on me -- that’s another good factor. Since I've been with them, I haven’t had any increase other than the service fee.

Total Protect's offer is probably the best that we've seen so far. And submitting a claim was pretty easy. We called, submitted a claim, they came out and fixed the problem. It took less than five days. All our interaction with the claims representative was fine. They were really nice and productive, answered all the questions I needed answering and it was pretty simple. The technician that came to service our appliance was awesome. He told me what needed to be done. He was the one that came the first time. When they sent someone to repair it, they sent him back. Everything was great. I can't complain. I work at a hotel, in customer service, and that service was excellent. I've got to give them credit. Total Protect is awesome. We love it.

I have nothing negative to say about them. I'm really happy with the service. The claims rep was courteous and no problem whatsoever making a claim. I didn't have to do too much, than just wait on the person to call me. So it's really easy and it was quick. In fact the AC man called me the same day and we made the appointment that morning. The next day he did what he had to do, and I was totally happy. The technician was a young guy and he really knew what he was doing. I asked him a whole lot of questions and he answered them just the way I wanted. It was an excellent experience. I've owned one before and so far I think TotalProtect home warranty is better.

We've had Total Protect Home Warranty since 2009 and got the offer through our mortgage company, Suntrust. They put it on with our house payment. We had bought warranties on all of our different appliances and their cost was more feasible to do the home warranty. We've never had a problem when submitting a claim with them and have used them several times. We live in a real small town and were about forty miles out of Austin, Texas. The only trouble we had when we first went on with them was they didn't have the service people working this area real well. But now we've noticed in the last two years there's more local people signed up with it so we're not running into that problem anymore.
The claim process was very easy. I've got the information file online but we just usually call the next morning after we realize we have a problem. Our interaction with the reps have always been real good, so with the technicians. We've used some enough now that when we call Total Protect we can usually ask them and they will get that same person for us. We have a daughter that lives in Atlanta, Georgia and she has cancelled her old service, and gone with Total Protect. We've also recommended Total Protect to one of our neighbors out here.

We recommended TotalProtect to our daughter and son-in-law, and they signed up for it. They live in the San Antonio area.
