I decided it was a good idea to have a home warranty. It's stupid not to have it. And up until this last time I've been totally satisfied. I've never had problems where they couldn't fix our dryer. They approved to replace it and I had to buy one the same day, submit documentation, and they said I would be refunded within 2 weeks (though the last time I checked it still hasn't been paid).

I got HMS when I purchased the house. I had this choice or another choice that was exactly the same. It's been pretty ** lately. Truthfully, they don't respond to claims and they're not there when a problem happens. The representatives were annoying. They don't want to help until I start asking for a manager. They don’t really seem to care. However, the techs that came out were pretty good once I was able to get a hold of them.

Our previous company cancelled our policy because they said we had too many claims in one year, which was kind of ridiculous considering that we had a couple of leaks in the house and stuff that we could not prevent. We started looking for something else and Total Protect was the one that was offered to our bank. They've all been really good. I've not had an issue with any of them. The only complaint that I have with that is that you can't talk to a person when you call the number to do a complaint. The couple of complaints that we have had has been, “Hey, my water heater is busted so I have water all over the place.” And of course, you can’t tell the recording that.

Other than that, they've been great because we are in a very rural area and we've had to get the authorization from a regular plumber because we don't have anybody close to us. They've worked really well with my plumber but that's my biggest complaint, you can't talk to a person to let them know that this is an emergency and I need you to do something about it now. I hope somebody can do something about the automatic call where you can talk to a person if you need to.

At this point, I am very upset with Total Protect and its service company, American Home Service, here in Central Texas. My A/C system failed about a month after I purchased my policy in August of last year. They sent a local company out that recommended replacement of the air handler AND condenser because of the new refrigerant requirements. Instead of doing that, they sent American home Service out for a second opinion. Rather than replace either unit, AHS attempted to repair the 30 or 40 year old air handler. A few days later, the tech had to come back and attempt to repair the same leak in the coils of the air handler. A few days later, the coil failed again. We ended up surviving the rest of the summer using borrowed window units from friends and neighbors. Electric bills were horrible!

Just after Christmas our heating unit failed. Again, the problem was with the air handler. We were told the unit was a fire hazard and needed to be replaced. Why has Total Protect authorized repairs of a unit that is classified as a "fire hazard"? Who would be responsible if our house burned down after these repairs? And, God forbid, what if we were injured or killed in such a fire?

AHS told us we would have to pay $ 750 for items that were not covered under the home warranty. Those charges include $ 200 for disposal of the old unit, another $200 for refrigerant recovery, and $ 350 for "modifications." Keep in mind that the refrigerant leaked out, causing the first several failures of the system, and again, the refrigerant has leaked out of the system. Why am I paying for this process? And, I told AHS that I would dispose of the unit. I was told I couldn't do that and finally the owner of AHS said he would not charge me for the disposal. And then Total Protect told me they would cover the cost of the refrigerant recovery and my out-of-pocket cost would be $ 350. Then, AHS called me back and said my cost would be $ 470 something because Total Protect would only cover $ 100 for the refrigerant recovery.

And, did I mention $ 350 for "modifications"? That includes something that modifies the system so that the air handler will work with the 14 year old unit that uses R-22 refrigerant. Seems that type of modification will cause very high pressure within the condenser, which will, most likely, cause it to fail this summer. AND, THAT, MY FRIENDS, WILL MEAN ADDITIONAL COSTS FOR MORE MODIFICATIONS!

We've spent the coldest days of winter using space heaters. My husband suffered a stroke the day after Christmas, and does not need the stress of dealing with these people. My husband and I are both disabled, and I suffer from pain which is affected by cold. We've spent almost 5 months trying to get this unit fixed. I've just had enough! I'm tired of waiting for days for call-backs. I'm tired of being told different stories by different customer service reps and by this repair company.

My research about replacing the condenser and the air handler confirm what the first tech told us...we need to replace both or face additional failures and costs this summer.

    Response from Cinch Home Services

    Dear Phyllis,

We understand your concerns. We aim to provide superior customer service and are deeply sorry that in this instance your experience didn’t reflect that.

We stand by the work of our technicians by providing a 6 month workmanship guarantee. We apologize for any inconvenience you experienced due to your air conditioning needing additional repairs last summer.

We care about your safety; had either of our technicians reported the unit being a fire hazard this would have been addressed. We understand the convenience of replacing your entire system at one time. However, the warranty only covers mechanical failure and your air handler was the only component that failed. We approved for replacement of your air handler and provided the option to receive a cash out which you could have put towards the replacement of your entire system.

We’re sorry that miscommunication about the charges ineligible for coverage added to your frustration. We absorbed a portion of these charges to offset your out of pocket costs.

We value you as a customer and thank you for taking the time to share feedback about your experience. While we hope that you don’t experience an emergency in your home any time soon, we’d like the opportunity to show you that we aim to provide a hassle free experience.

    Sincerely,

Things were working out pretty good but then I bought a rental property and I used them for that. I wasn't satisfied with the service that my tenants were getting. I have done some research and found out about Total Protect and that's when I switched.

Total Protect has been very good. It's easy to make appointments. The service people that they send out, they explain to me in advance. Total Protect explains what additional cost might be upfront so that way you know exactly what you're getting and you know how much exactly it's going to cost you once you pay your co-pay. So far I've had excellent service from all the people who came out and provided me with service. Otherwise, trust me I probably wouldn't be with them. I don't pay unless I feel I'm getting really good service. Total Protect is quick to respond, quick to schedule visits and the technicians so far have been very good.

I received something in the mail about TotalProtect, looked into it and decided to go. We've been with them for 2 or 3 years. I submitted a claim last December 22. I submitted my claim online and then a guy called. My microwave went out. The technician came, looked at it and decided that it was cheaper to replace than to fix it so the guy offered me a microwave. I saw that it wasn't near what mine was. I told him I didn't want to accept that. I went and got price on one that was similar to mine. He said all they would give me was $241 and the total cost was $360. I'm not real happy about that because they say it's of equal value and they won't pay for installation.

I'm still waiting on my check because I didn't have the money to buy that. I followed all the procedures - went online and did the survey and sent them all they asked for. I still haven't heard anything.

I first heard about Total Protect from Bank of America. Up to this point, it's been pretty good, but now we're totally frustrated because we never know from day to day if we're going to have heat. We go without heat for 3 or 4 days. They come, they evaluate then they have to order a part - the last time was Christmas Eve. We called them at 2 in the afternoon and the guy came. It was the ignitor so therefore on Christmas we had no heat and we had all these people and he did come back. He went to Alexandria and picked up the part and brought it back but the heater's still not right to the point we're frustrated.

We ordered a new heater because we can't deal with this anymore. I mean this is ridiculous. We had them replace the water heater. It took us a whole week. The technicians are fine, I don't have any problems with any of them that have come. There's been a few that don't know what the heck they're doing but they don't come back because I tell them I want someone else when they call. Generally it's been pretty good experience with Total Protect, it's just the fact that when you have problems, you have to go days or a week without the appliance. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend them as they take forever to get anything accomplished.

I was looking into something to cover my appliances through another company but they cost so much! And with TotalProtect, it was “for $20 a month, we’ll cover all of your appliances and a whole bunch of other stuff” and that sounds good! Apparently I was getting a good deal because I was coming in through my mortgage company Countrywide which was their affiliate and that was what made me go with them.

Submitting a claim was the easiest thing on the planet to do. You call and tell them what you want, they’ll find someone to fix it for you. They will call those people and get them on the phone for you to get an appointment. Everybody I’ve ever talked to has been nothing but helpful, courteous and respectful. Everybody they sent out has been very professional and they’ve known what they were doing. They fix what they came to fix.

So far, I can’t complain. I have recommended Total Protect to all of my friends and family so that they can partake of this as well. We bought the house from Fleetwood and they offered us an option to purchase TotalProtect. We chose them because the home warranty took effect immediately with some of the things that may not have been covered by the homebuilder. So far we are totally satisfied with TotalProtect. We've had no problem with them. The claims have all been handled very, very professionally and expeditiously. But we did have a problem with the contractor on the hood replacement.

The guy that actually came out and did the work was okay, the quality of the work was fine. He was not accustomed to doing range hoods but worked primarily on refrigerators, air conditioning, and heating. But the company that TotalProtect called to get him out here was impossible to work with. At the end of the first day at work, the technician told us that he had to take the old range hood again so that he could get measurements and whatnot for an exhaust tube extender. He told us that he would be back the next day. The following day, he didn’t show up so I called him and he said he’d be back before noon the next day. Noon came and went and at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, I called and they said, “Oh, we will not be able to make it today.” I was a little upset with that. All of a sudden he shows up on my doorstep...

They didn’t want to send somebody out to see what needed to be done and wouldn’t honor the technician’s return date and time so I pushed it. And it is all fixed now. They finally finished it. Nonetheless I made a recommendation on the written survey that I sent in that that particular company should be taken off their call list and find somebody else.

She handles the paperwork and I've dealt mainly with the technician. They've been kind, courteous and very informative. I haven't had any issues as far as them completing the work on time and doing satisfactory work so I'm very pleased with that. There was only one incident that I was not happy with. We had had a gentleman come out to do air conditioning and I wasn't pleased with him. He was trying to sell an additional service rather than being concerned about fixing the problem. I called TotalProtect and asked him not to come back out. Other than that, everything has been fine.

I have had nothing but problems with this company. What they don't tell you is that if you claim more than you pay in premium for the entire year, they bill, you, really? Is that not why you have insurance?

When I called to cancel my policy, they stated that they would send a list of claims to me, I never received them.

I am calling back tomorrow to find out what is going on?

My house was made in the 50s and all the appliances came with our home, with the exception of our washer and dryer. With TotalProtect, I usually submit a claim online and then depending on what the email says, either call the company that they outsource to or sometimes TotalProtect calls me and they schedule it for me with the outsourced company. Their claims process is easy. Although I wish there were more in the descriptive areas to describe what my issue is. Most of the time my technician shows up and all they have is my washer is broken. The last claims representative I talked to was fine. She called me and made sure that the warranty covered the problem my washer was having and she scheduled to have Sears come out. The technician was real nice. He was done in an hour and a half. He did great and didn't even have to take my dryer off. He was able to pull the front off of the washer, put it in, and it's still working right now.

Also, I did have an issue that they found and were able to fix. My current mortgage company wasn't charging me for my TotalProtect. I would call TotalProtect and say they're not charging me anything. It's supposed to be built in to my mortgage. My coverage never lapsed even though I ended up being 3 months behind and had to pay out of pocket for that before it finally got added to my mortgage. They were always working with me. My experience with TotalProtect has been nothing but pleasant.

It’s been over 10 years that we've had TotalProtect... when I first purchased this house and even before that. When I owned my house before in Stanford we subscribed to their service. We know them as TotalProtect now but I seem to recall that there was another name before that. Anyway, I’ve never been rejected when I submitted a claim. There were times when I felt like boy I should have gotten a new burner, for example, and I didn’t get one. Instead, the problem that existed with that particular burner was fixed and fixed adequately. So I understood why I didn’t get a new burner and that that was not your purpose, which every time something breaks, to replace it.

All except for one claim that we had, the quality of work has been very good. For the plumbing situation, they usually use Hers and His Plumbing and they did get out for a leak that we were having that was squirting water everywhere for several days. They called another company and whenever the guy fixed the plumbing, he left a tiny pinhead hole in the pipe so it leaked. My husband ended up crawling up under the house, getting new pipes, putting it in there and fixing it. I told TotalProtect about it and they reimbursed our $75. They did real well.

My interaction with their reps were sometimes difficult because when I made claims some of the people processing the claims don't say the same thing. Some of them don't know. I would talk to someone else and they'll say it's not right. It's just a matter of training and they need to be trained the same way. The last one I called, the lady told me something wasn't covered. I had to talk to the supervisor. The technicians are okay but sometimes they send technicians that don't know. Sears came out here but the person didn't know what he was doing. There was one technician from Triad Plumbing in Raleigh, North Carolina and that's the best one that they had ever sent. When I have a lot of problems with the people that answer the phone and take the claim, the supervisors call me back and try to make everything right and they really try. I have had a few problems.

The people that have come out have been very professional and they do the job and they just represent them all very well. The last one we had somebody out was last month. We had a problem with my sink, my lavatory in the master bedroom. I have dual sinks and one of them was stuck up. I attempted to repair it but found that it needed a special part. The man who came out says he was the owner of the company, told me what the problem was, but wasn’t sure Total Protect was going to cover it. But he asked me to pay him $75 before he left, which I did. Total Protect called me to say it wasn’t covered. I told her I don’t want the same plumbing company and asked her for referrals. She gave me two names, and the one that came out was very professional and repaired it in less than 15 minutes.

This is after trying to get a service person out - I had to call three different repair services as the first two told me they refuse to work with Total Protect or Cross Country because they are too difficult to work with and don't pay claims.

The third company that did actually come out told me straight up the unit is dead but Total Protect will find a way to not pay for it.

That's exactly what happened. The unit is 30 years old and they won't pay for it because it has dust in it. Wouldn't anything 30 years old have dust in it?

I paid for my warranty for 7 years - $3,187.80 - and only had one claim. My air conditioner died and they refused to pay it.

The $3,187.80 would have more than covered the cost of the replacement - save your money!

Everything has been excellent except lately and it has been a nightmare. The electricity went out in the house about a month ago. Approved Electric got assigned and their tech called me and said he will be there this afternoon. We had somebody at the house the entire day, and that night about 8:00, he hadn't shown up so I called and he says that his other job ran late and that he'll be here in the morning. We had somebody there in the morning but he never showed up or called. The next day, same thing. Finally on Saturday, we called to get another company, and he sent me a text about two hours after I called to get another company and said he's on his way. Approved Electric is unprofessional and I don't want them there again.

The next company, Noasis, showed up when they said they would. They said it was a bad breaker and had to replace it. A week ago now, same problem happened. Same plugs and garage door went out. I called and they gave me Approved Electric again. I went out and looked; there are no new breakers. I don't know what they did, but they didn't do it right. I called and left a message for the tech. The next day, TotalProtect sent him a work order when I called. The next night, I hadn't heard from him nor had he returned my call. I called, he doesn't call me back, but answers TotalProtect's call. The tech said he never got the work order. I'm sure he got my message regarding the work order, so that's not an excuse. He told TotalProtect that he would get back with me.

Wednesday to Monday I called to get a different company because TotalProtect said that Approved and Noasis were the only two that were approved by TotalProtect to do work. It took a couple of days but they found another company that would come out; they can't come out until Tuesday, but called me and told me that. They said they would be there between 11 and 1, Monday, on the 8th, which is fine. But not calling at all is totally unacceptable in my book. Everything else has been taken care of and we've been using TotalProtect for 12 years. TotalProtect is worth every penny we paid except this last time, and it's just this one company.

The technicians are on time and they call. They have been very nice and very courteous. They told me what's wrong with it and they tell me if they could fix it. The last time, he said, "What you really need to do is get an electrician to come out and look at the plug-in because that's probably what it is." He was very nice about it. They knew what the problem was. Like when the guy came out for the dishwasher, he knew exactly what it was after looking at the problem and he fixed it.

Having TotalProtect for my home warranty has been a great thing. They've been so nice. I wouldn't drop it. I am single and don't have anyone to help me repair things. I don't have neighbors that are close by to recommend people to repair things.

When we bought the house five years ago, we thought Total Protect would be a good idea to protect stuff. They were more clear on what they covered and how much they covered, and it was reasonably priced. Some of the other offers we got were hard to understand and I didn't feel comfortable with them. I liked the fact that Total Protect was straight out there.

I submitted a claim and it was great! Just made a phone call and it was taken care of. The claims representative asked me a few questions, I answered them, gave me a choice of two people to come out, and I told her who I wanted, and that was it. It was very simple. The next day someone was here and the guy went out of his way to help me get my dishwasher fixed. All I had to do was pay the $75. The technician was very nice. He called me to let me know he was on the way, called me to let me know he was on the driveway. I'm alone during the day, so it was comfortable to know that that was who it was. Took care of the problem, knew exactly what it was, had to run out to the hardware store, went and got what he needed, fixed it and cleaned up after himself. It was great. Dishwasher's working fine now. I got the help I needed and I couldn't be happier. Total Protect is easy to understand and use.

As far as the service is concerned, everything is fine. But it has some flaws in it. You just never know because you take a chance on when you think something is covered and they come out here and you find out it's not covered or part of it is not covered, so they won't pay but then you have to end up paying $75 and still end up getting the problem fixed by an independent contractor.

It's a learning experience because in the beginning I didn't know what to say other than just tell them what's going on but now when I call, I know what to say. I have to trick them to get a correct answer out of them. I’ve used it several times on several things, and what I’ve done is I’ve had to press them really hard to tell me – "This is what’s wrong, is this going to be covered?" That’s the tricky part about the coverage.

We had one issue where there was a lot of confusion because it was a new water heater that was put in and there were some issues that happened that they have to find out. They have to follow back and find out who was really responsible. It ended up actually being that it was pipes from the floor from when the house was built so it really wasn't their issue and they were still kind enough because of all that back and forth that we did that they waived our deductible to even get that one fix. We thought that was really, really nice of them to do that because we've been with them for a while.

We feel like their price is the best. We used to be with another company that did not cover hot tubs, and they do. And they've been very, very good about sending people out, taking things real quickly. We've had a couple people come out that we weren't that crazy about. But still, they got the work done. So overall, I would definitely recommend TotalProtect. I have been very happy with them.

It's usually an easy process, except for this last time, for the furnace. The service has been really good, except that they didn't give us update. The technician was excellent. He checked the unit and told us that it's an older unit and it's up to us what we wanted to do, whether we wanted to cash out or if we just wanted it fixed. We wanted it fixed, so they ordered the part. However no one called to tell us "we ordered it and it's on its way." I had to call today to find out where we were. I put a claim in for my refrigerator. They sent out the service company. They misdiagnosed problem but paid for service that was done. Unfortunately, because they sent out incompetent service team I had to call Kitchen aid myself and have them come out to diagnose problem. They got diagnosis correct and the sealed system was problem. Kitchen Aid would pay for parts but labor was on me. I called Total Protect and they said no problem set up a new claim and just send bills in and they would take care of it up to$1000.

Well I did that. Spent over $1000 on Labor when I sent bills in they delayed payment until I kept calling them. They informed me that they were making it part of my original claim and deducted that claim payment from the second one.

So I was held responsible for them sending out an unreliable company to diagnose the problem. That Cost me $425 which they reimbursed me. But they deducted that from second claim even though the error was on their original companies diagnosis.

They lied to me and did not deliver what they promised. Look at other companies as I am now. There seems to be better companies out there.

I would not recommend this warranty company. I purchased this warranty to feel a little better about items breaking down in the home and they make it worse by giving you the runaround. I placed a claim in July for the air conditioner and they denied saying the unit needed maintenance, I used the company they sent out to do the maintenance and now the heat is not working and they are saying it is not maintained. How is this when the company they sent to my home did the maintenance they said needed to be done prior to them covering anything is irrelevant now! How does that work? That tells me that the companies they send out they do not trust? I put trust in the companies they send out or any company I may use on my own and trust that they are performing the work they say and how do I know if they are not properly performing the work I am being charged for when I am an average person that lacks the knowledge of ac/heating mechanics. I have received the pass around and put on hold time after time each day I called in to check the status of my claim because they have yet to place a call to me to tell me my claim is denied. I have been told it is going through approval, they are getting part specifications and when I talk to the company they recently came out they told me they are waiting for Total Protect to give them information and Total Protect tells me they are waiting on the company to give them information but in the meantime I am being told the claim is denied. Another call to the supposed office of the President got me to we will replace what is under contract that can be replaced and to contact the company to schedule the repairs. The next day same old thing the claim is denied and the company is waiting for Total Protect to provide information. I have maintenance receipts to prove my system is and has been maintained and they are not interested in reviewing these only to say the company told them the breakdown in the system due to lack of maintenance. I was told I could get a second company to come out and do a second opinion and if they say the system has not been maintained I would have to pay the $85 service charge. What is this warranty really about? I speak to someone else who then tells me what the repair company called in and reported to them and I look at my invoice and says something totally different. How does that work? I was then told to fax the invoice to Amber ** and when I call to check on the status of the fax they inform me it should not to go that person I should have emailed support services. I keep getting the runaround and I am very tired of the lack of concern or willingness of this company to get this resolved. They do not offer any solutions just the claim is denied. I am totally frustrated and have had to keep my temper under control day after day of people basically saying your maintenance receipts do not matter but that is why we are denying the claim because of the maintenance. If I am showing this work has been done what is the problem. I will not give up until my system is repaired or replaced as I was told when I purchased the warranty. It does not matter how old the system as long as the system has been maintained it will be repaired or replaced as long as it is a covered item. Well I am not getting what is covered under contract fixed just a denial of the claim. I will keep on this until resolved.

He was quite satisfied with his and we hope just like life insurance, that we never have to use it. But we did on one occasion and he was very satisfied with the response and all that. So we had gotten TotalProtect.

It was very, very easy to call a claim in to TotalProtect. We've only used it once but we went from there and the contact with the company was very easy, very pleasant, and very professional. The contractor they sent was fine. Some markets, there's not going to be as much to pick from and we are fairly small, larger than a town but smaller than a city. But TotalProtect was very accommodating saying if we were not satisfied or if they didn't come at a certain time, to call them back and they would get somebody else. The only thing, which wasn't TotalProtect's fault, was that it took the contractor about a week to get to us. So that's not too good and that’s probably due to where we live.

But I would recommend TotalProtect. It's like meeting someone. The first impression goes a long way, but that person could turn out to be your worst enemy, but could be your best friend for life too. I've had that happen. So initial experience, very, very good. I don't anticipate any problems. I hope there won't be a reason for another call. But if we're in it for several years, you have to expect that there would be. But right now, overall satisfaction.

They are fantastic. You just call if you have a problem. You can either do a claim directly with the automatic system or you can have an operator talking to you. They take care of you as soon as possible and usually very quickly. All the technicians that had been coming were great.

I love TotalProtect. I wish more people will have them so they can have a great peace of mind. They don’t have to worry when they have a problem in their household. I’m very happy I have TotalProtect.

I received a few years ago some kind of literature in the mail and went ahead and applied for a home warranty from TotalProtect because it sounded like a good program to me. Also, the home was built in the 70s and it'd be worth having protection just like any other insurance. The last couple of claims, I've done them online and it only takes a minute or two and it's done so that's good and simple. The claims representative was very cooperative, very informational. I've had no problems with them. The technicians were all good, professional people with the exception of one plumber, but that was rectified via home warranty, which I appreciated for good service. Other than him, the rest of them were professional type people who took care of their customer. I'm glad I'm with them and the rates are reasonable and the work is of good quality.

TotalProtect is one of the easiest companies I've ever dealt with anywhere. You can call them anytime. You can file your claim online or you can call 24 hours a day/7 days a week. They answer the phone, get your information, and they find someone to come check the problems. I've had three claims with them over the years I've had their product and I never had a problem with them. They call a week or so later to make sure everything's taken care of to my satisfaction. The contractors in this area have always done a good job. They are first rate contractors, licensed. I have absolutely no complaints. The premium you pay is very reasonable for the service you get.

TotalProtect has been very good. They get right back with you and assess what the problem is. And they have their own people as to who they contact. In most cases, their response has been very prompt, especially here of late. The last year or so, they seem to be more on top of it. You don't have to wait two or three days to get somebody to respond. They usually get somebody out here pretty quick. Their technicians assess what the problem is and I sometimes get the feeling that they're trying to sell me something more than what the problem is, but other than that my experience has been pretty good with them.

I was renting out my house and wanted to have insurance on it just in case. The one who referred TotalProtect to me said they are pretty good, so I went with it. I didn't research anybody else after she told me. The claims representatives were pretty good and helpful. One of them that I talked to started giving me an appointment because the leak was getting bad and they couldn't find anybody because it was a Saturday. I told her she can just look around to see if she could find a shop; somebody that can come in that same day to come take care of it. It took her about an hour or so, but she found somebody and they sent the person down and she called me to let me know.

The only issue that I had was with one of the technicians that was sent down to take care of an issue that I had. We requested a plumber because we had a leak. The guy came down and he identified the issue being the furnace. We had a clog and we asked him if he can take care of that; just look at the clog for us. Worst case is that we'll pay him if we needed to. He had no interest in doing that. He came, identified the issue, it's not his problem and he left. It felt a little funny. But without considering the technician that came down, I'm still glad I got TotalProtect.

I learned about TotalProtect through U.S. Bank. We had a home that was fairly new. It was only about eight years old and we had the water heater go out. It cost $1,800 to replace so I thought about it and went ahead and got a home warranty. We've had TotalProtect now for six years and they had very good results most of the time. We also picked up a second property since we have an 18-year-old and he's finishing his masters in Manhattan. He couldn't drive to and from college so we bought a second home and got it on TotalProtect as well and we've used it about nine times between two houses. Usually, it is for the heater or air conditioner.

Other than one bad experience, it's been great. One time, their person was supposed to call and didn't follow up and it was in the middle of winter and we had a heater go out. In our case, it worked out fine because we have a second home. We just went over there for about four days till they got hold of someone to repair the heater. So overall. it's been fine. When we sat down and did a financial analysis, we've actually broke even back or are ahead between the two houses. We have had a washer and a refrigerator go out and these were fairly new appliances so that was surprising. We had the heat and air conditioning in both houses fixed twice. So financially we're ahead by about $200 or $250. I would recommend them.

The majority of the claims we submit to them are good but once in a while, it's been a little rough. There was no follow through when it came to our water heater. I had to call back several times. And then, just recently with our microwave, the guy ordered the part and instead of saying that he would come back, which should have been free of charge to put the part in, what he did is he told my husband he could put it in himself. So we paid $75 for nothing, basically. But still it's okay. I won't switch.

    To whom it may concern,

I wanted to express my heart felt gratitude to Stefany ** for assisting me with a recent claim. In short, Stefany is a rock star and here is why.

My claim was for a dishwasher and one blunder after another occurred in getting a technician out to my home, then the part arrived at the vendors office and they had no idea who it went to. The order was cancelled and sent to another vendor, I called the original vendor and he had the part and wanted to install it...long story short after 4 weeks someone came out to replace the part and it did not solve the problem and another part was ordered. I was told it would be at my house in 5 days...2 weeks later the part never showed up. Fed up I tool to social media (Facebook) stating my displeasure. This is when I met Stefany. From the very beginning she was extremely apologetic and very eager to resolve my issue. She determined it would be best to replace the washer citing costly replacement parts and time. She ordered the DW and it arrived as scheduled, coordinated the install and all is well and I am doing the dishes once again.

In conclusion what Stefany did was amazing...she did it with a smile (yes the customer knows when you are smiling), with professionalism and care. I knew right away she wanted to help resolve this as quickly as possible. When I look at the core values of CCHS this is how I would grade Stefany:

    Listen - A+
    Value Others - A+
    Promote Improvement - A+
    Reject Status Quo - A+
    Embrace Passion - A+
    Act Like Owners - A+

Celebrate Success! - I hope she celebrates

Customer service can be thankless at times, its a grind and I know this from personal experience. However if you enjoy what you and enjoy who you are doing it for it makes all the difference. Clearly Stefany takes her job very serious and is committed to exceeding customer expectations. As a result of Stefany's awesomeness you have a customer for life and I plan on consolidating my home warranties from my investment properties (5) to CCHS before the end of the year.

    Thanks again and God Bless!

Once it cleared, then they got the thing balanced out and it’s working fine. So I was very satisfied with the service that I got .

The only suggestion that I have that I’ve experienced that I think would be great for them to apply is some sort of a mandatory preventive maintenance program where we would have to share the cost but there would be a preventive maintenance program like on the air conditioning systems and things like that. That’s always a question that is asked when they come out to service your equipment (“Have you had preventive maintenance done?”) I think if there was an opportunity to do that through the insurance even with an extra co-pay, it would be a great enhancement to the program.

My experience with Total Protect has been very positive. I was quite pleased. I've had two service calls in the last month and they responded promptly. It did take a little bit of time to address the water heater issue, but the gentleman who came in to repair the water heater was very efficient. He didn't let up until he got the issue. The reps were quick to respond and provided me with information to move forward. Those who are coming in to respond to the service call are usually very prompt in responding. So it's absolutely wonderful over the years that I've been with Total Protect.

I don't how long I've had TotalProtect. I just saw it was offered and it goes with my house payment. Submitting claims has been pretty good and easy. When we had our washer problems, they offered to replace our washer but we wanted to know what they'd replace it with. We didn't like it, so we had somebody come in and then work on it and it’s still running. We had a little discussion with the technicians about what a crappy washer they were trying to give me. My last claim was my dryer. There was some confusion; it started out good. They scheduled my appointment in two days, but showed up the next day and it turned out it was a different place. Somehow they had two different places… All in all it took a couple of weeks because they had to order a part, so it was a long process there and my wife had to go somewhere to dry clothes. Other than that, my experience with them has been good. They fixed my stove pretty quick.

I’ve had Total Protect since we bought our house. I was apprehensive about getting the home warranty because I've heard other horror stories through other people, but every time I've submitted a claim, they've answered it and it's only been my deductible. You can't beat that!

I've had three or four claims so far and each time it's been excellent. I've never had a problem with getting parts and they've always followed up and made sure that the contractor was doing what they were supposed to do. The plumbing service that they use for the one job was great. My water heater had to be replaced and it was leaking the next day. They came right back out and fixed it. I had my air conditioning go out and the guy who came out welded the broken fan, never welded it before, and it worked until he could get the part in. So it's been great. The technicians have always been pleasant. I'm satisfied with them.

I went on the internet to look for a new home warranty service. The price on the one that I had didn’t appeal to me any longer. I saw TotalProtect and they offered more coverage than my previous home warranty. Each time that I needed work done, I’ve submitted my claims online. They give me the number of the contractors, I call them and set up the appointment, and it has worked out very well. The one exception was with one contractor that is no longer with them because they didn’t meet TotalProtect’s standards.

We had to have a garbage disposal replaced, and while they were there, they discovered that we had a water leak. So they got us in touch with a company who fixed the water leak. But we had to have some drying done under the sink and they put us in contact with a company who could do that for us, and they did it for a very reasonable price. I’m very satisfied with them.

My only problem is sometimes I'm confused about how they price things, like we used to have an air conditioner unit go out and they offered us '$900 but do it on your own', or '$399 additional and we'll fix it'. I wasn't sure how that related to our contract. I never get a satisfactory answer on that.
