I came across Cinch and called them. Anytime I've called, they've taken care of it. The contractors were great. I've had claims for the garbage disposal, air conditioner and our dishwasher. They fixed them all. I'm very satisfied.

You just call the TotalProtect number and the operator comes out and you tell them what problem is, and then they contact a service provider. The service provider contacts me and they come out and take care of the problem. It has been a good experience. I've had several things done to the house under the contract, and the last one was with my AC. First, the contractor came out and switched out a motor on the condenser, and that did real well for a while, and then it was obvious that the unit was going out because it started making a loud noise. So, I recalled TotalProtect and they called the service provider, and ordered the parts. Since I live on the coast of Texas, they gave me a condenser that is pre-treated with a special rust preventative in the paint, so the condenser unit will last a lot longer. I appreciate that. I had to pay a $125 deductible. That's peanuts when you consider the cost of new AC. That's one thing I like a lot.

I have a neighbor who lives down the street. She was talking to my wife and she told her about the TotalProtect. Anyone should consider it at least because the older your house gets, things are gonna start breaking. Our biggest fear was that AC going out because we've been in the house about 12 years. We live on the coast so there's a lot of rust and salt water, and it's hot and humid. Things that are outside don't last as long as things that you would keep on the inside. But still, things on the inside are gonna break.

The warranty is very reasonable. I only paid $42 a month. My plan covers my refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, washer and dryer, and AC. If two or three of those things go out at the same time, you might be looking at some major money being put out. If you have a great savings, that's great. But if you don't, it's not so great. That's what I also like about TotalProtect.

Before, when you call them, you get them immediately. Now, you can call and call but it's hard to get them. For almost two years, I will have situation and I will call them but nobody will do anything. Not everybody likes to go online and see the form. It seems like that's what they're trying to push for. But that's the only problem I've had being with them for all these years. The last situation I had with them was with the AC. The contractor came out and checked it. The guy fixed it. The other stuff was our fridge and when the tech came out, he said there was a lot of stuff that got missed in there. When the guy came to fix the AC, he went to the panel and the fridge started working. So you cannot tell me again that it's a part that is missing. So, since then, it has been working without him changing the second part that he wanted to come change.

I've been with TotalProtect for at least eight years. The online way of submitting a claim is better than calling. You can do it online at any time of the day. I’ve had service calls for pretty much every appliance in my house, my refrigerator, washer and dryer, air conditioner unit, and each time, the contractors were all professional. My washer replaced but the quality of the new washer wasn't as good as the previous one. I understand that it's a replacement. But it could be improved. Other than that, everything else is good. It’s extremely beneficial to have a home warranty and I have recommended to everybody to have one.

I've had TotalProtect since 2003 and its services have gone down over the years. It's not as good as it used to be with the long wait times, transferring all over the place and speaking to people who can't even speak the language correctly. When I speak to the office department of TotalProtect, it's sometimes very difficult to understand the employee's dialogue or diction because some of them are out of the country. At one point, I even had one of the employees screaming at me. That person wasn't very professional, so I didn't particularly care about that. But other than that, I have been getting authorizations on the few problems I've had.

When I called TotalProtect and told them about the filter and the timer, they referred me to their provider, First Choice Pool company. It took that company three weeks. I kept calling them and they made appointments but they didn't show up and they didn't call. I called back TotalProtect and told them that this company makes appointments and don't show up. So, they spoke with the service provider, who showed up and did their assessment. They had to come back and when they did, they apologized. They came back with the filter and a timer.

In between that, I received an email from TotalProtect advising that they were going to cover the filter but not the timer. It wasn't covered by the warranty. So, the company bought me a timer for the pool and installed it at no charge. They said this was free because of the complications of them standing me up and not showing up. They also installed the filter which was something that was required. The next day, the filter was leaking from the bottom and the timer was not working. I called First Choice and I told them that. The gentleman said that it was gonna be awhile before they could get back to me. I asked what awhile was and they said that they would get back to me since they were not in Ocala where I live. They never got back to me. I kept calling them every day. They did more damage than they did good.

I wound up calling TotalProtect and I told them that the company installed the filter and it has been leaking since day one. It took a month before I was able to get ahold of TotalProtect. They apologized and said that I would have to find another pool company. I would have to pay them for them to come out and do the warranty services. If you have a service problem and they don't have a service provider in your area, they would say that they would give you authorization to utilize a provider of your choice. But I would have to pay upfront and I asked why. The company didn't do the job right. They said they would reimburse me. That particular procedure takes forever and I still haven't gotten paid for that yet. I'm thinking about buying another home warranty company because I'm not totally satisfied with it.

Then the technician came out pretty much the next day and fixed it. So everything worked out fine. The tech explained everything and he was good. He's better than some of the ones in the past. He had on his mask and he stayed six feet away. I haven't had any more problems since.

They are very trustworthy and submitting the claims have been good. I've had the warranty for so long and there were some services I forgot that was even covered and paid for it, and only to find out that I could have gotten a discount. But for the services that I've used, it has been good, except for the one incident that I reported. It was horrible. Some stipulations can be inconvenient. My refrigerator didn't get fixed for three months and we had diabetics in the house. The stipulations were the procedures of the company and how they have to go through different levels to get approved. They have this thing called "accelerated claim." So you have to go from a claim to accelerated. They told me that until they could get this fixed, they would send us a small refrigerator. But it only held one thing or eggs. It was crazy. But they eventually did send me a check to replace it after 90 days of it not working. So that's where the satisfaction comes in.

I've had Cinch for four years and I've probably done three claims. I usually call and I hear back within half an hour. They’ve made it fast and easy to get issues solved in your home. They’ve done a good job. I had a hot water heater malfunction, a bathroom leak and a couple of other issues. I just submitted a claim and then, they assigned me a company. The contractor came out within two days every time and they did well. I had one issue where Cinch tried to send me somebody who weren't on Better Business Bureau and they had terrible ratings. I asked Cinch if I could get a different company and they sent me a better one within a day.

I like the contractors that have been out. They’re usually very good. They're very knowledgeable and they have a lot of their own experience doing other stuff. We’re in this small area so we get the same guy. They seem to know what they're doing and they're willing to come back if it didn't work. What I don't like is that when I go to file the claim online with Cinch, there's nowhere to put anything about symptoms. So, they often don't have the parts. If I could say, "I am getting this error code even", they could say, “Okay. I know that that's probably a bearing. If I don't have that, I'll check my stock and make sure I do.” Then it takes them six weeks to get back, especially right now and that's not just with the home warranty. That's the regular Sears repairs too. They have the same setup.

I found TotalProtect through the Pentagon credit union and I’ve had them around for six years. The last time I called, the guys couldn't make it for about five days. I called back and I said that can't happen because it’s too hot. So, they gave it to somebody else that came out here the next day. So, I was surprised. That worked out very well. I pay through my credit card once a month and so far, I haven’t had any bad experience with them. I have been doing good with them. Submitting a claim is simple if you call up on the phone. I can’t do it online because it takes forever. But if I call them on the phone, I get through somebody. They give me a claim number and a company to call.

If I want to upgrade my system because I wanna get a new air conditioner, they should have a discount for the people who sue the membership. Instead of me going through a number of companies, I could go through them and maybe I could get a discount like 20% off because I’m going through them. Since they are the warranty company and they got the service, it would save them money too.

I also had a couple of little fixes on our air conditioner. There might also be something with the refrigerator a year or two ago. The contractors have been nice. However, I would like to have more access to contractors. There was one time a few years ago on the garbage disposal where the guy was not able to get here for a week. But then, I called TotalProtect and they ended up sending somebody else a couple of days later. I recommend having a warranty. It gives me a peace of mind. When you buy a home, you don't know what you're getting sometimes, so getting a home warranty is more of a safety to make sure that there are no major expenses. I used to call Cinch Home when I have a claim but it came to a point where you have to wait a lot, so I do it through their automated system. Then, they send a notification of who to contact to schedule an appointment and you contact whoever the vendor is that they choose.

I had an AC that went out and it was on a Saturday. When I got the notification, it was the 9th and they gave me Sears but they weren't scheduling it until the 12th. So, I reached out, spoke to a live person, and they changed it to another vendor. I contacted that vendor but they never called me back on Saturday or Sunday. Then they came back on Monday at 10:30 in the morning to tell me that they'd be out in an hour or two, and they showed up. They cleaned out a drain line and some other stuff that the unit needed to be cleaned. It had some debris build up which wasn't covered in the warranty and they said they would contact me to give me a quote to do the maintenance. After that, they left and never called me. They never came back either, so that was not a great experience.

I ended up spending $5,500 to put a new air conditioning unit in my house because the warranty company wasn't going to cover cleaning it or taking care of the maintenance side, which was going to cost $600 according to the guy that was here. But they never got back to me with a quote or to even tell me what it was going to cost. And the unit was very old. If I go and clean it, and that doesn't fix the problem, I'm still going to need a unit and Cinch Home was not going to cover it.

All in all, there are good contractors and bad ones. Bennett Air Conditioning was the name of the company that I had an issue with and they really didn't seem to give two craps. If they did, they'd call me back the same day to give me a quote, but they never even did that. I was not going to wait for them either and I wouldn't even consider buying a unit from them if they're not even concerned enough to contact me to address it. But about a month ago, I had a garbage disposal that went bad and the techs came out in an hour. They replaced it and left. And it just cost me the deductible. That was the best experience I've had with anything in the last 10 years.

Overall, my experience with Cinch Home is all dependent upon the vendor. Also, when they automatically send you a vendor and you're going to have to wait four days to get a vendor, it's not really beneficial. So there are times when having the warranty is beneficial, but there are other times where it's pretty weak. I wouldn't trash the company, but they have a lot that they could be doing that would be a little more proactive and for $125, I can pretty much pay $125 or less for a company to come out out of the phonebook to evaluate. I paid $125 for this guy to come out and blow out a drain line, then leave and never even tried to get back to me. So, I was not really getting much value for my money.

In the old days, the deductible used to be $65 a call, then it went up to 75 and every time they renew the contract, even though the dollar amount for the monthly fee stays the same, the deductible keeps going up. It's getting to the point where it's not really a significant benefit to have the warranty if you're going to be paying $125 for techs to come out and they may not even do anything. Cinch Home needs to be more cognizant of how much they’re charging and what they're giving to the service.

Everybody has been great. And then recently, I took the payment voucher because I wasn't satisfied with the stove that I could have gotten in replacement. My stove can’t be fixed. I got a new stove and a new dishwasher. Now, we have a refrigerator, washer and dryer, so I’m trying to figure out whether it's worth spending the money. I'm just about to retire and I'm trying to figure out what I can cut out of my budget.

When Cinch agreed to replace my stove and dishwasher, which is why I have the budget considerations, they gave certain models that they will replace, yours can’t be fixed, or they give you that money. It’s fine. I had an old stove. I didn’t like the models that they were replaced with. They gave me $$680, which probably isn’t going to get what I want, but it would go a long way.

My air condition wasn't putting out cold air. So Sears came out in May. They put Freon in there and it lasted until July. My air condition went completely out so they came out again. The technician said that he had to order a part. When he was supposed to come back out again, he ended canceling my scheduled appointment the day of, and I wasn't pleased with that. Now, I need my air condition outside to be replaced and Sears is who Cinch is dealing with. I've been without my air conditioner for about three weeks now.

Another guy from Sears came out last week. He took a picture of the air conditioner unit outside. He didn't tell me anything but I had to call Cinch to find out what was going on and found out that they couldn't get the part that they were trying to get so the air condition had to be replaced. So now I'm waiting for Sears to call me to say to me when they're gonna come out and replace this old air conditioner. The house is about 18 years old and they have to replace the AC. They've been out here so many times putting parts to it and it's not helping.

Sears should get reputable people to stand behind their name. I called Sears and I was on the phone yesterday for about an hour. They switched me to all these different departments and I still didn’t get an answer and I had to end up calling Cinch. A caseworker from Cinch called me and told me that that they spoke with somebody and left her number. She said that she emailed them. She told that me if I didn't hear from them today, I should give her a call.

I've been with Cinch for about eight or nine years and this is the first time that I'm really having a real major problem. They have sent different people out and what they do, they just patch it up. Now, I've been without air for three weeks. They gave me a gift certificate for 250 so I can get a portable air condition at Home Depot. But they either didn't have them, they were out of them, or they'd start at 560, so I ended up buying fans.

I was looking for a new home warranty service and my cousin who had TotalProtect for a while told me that she was pleased with them. So I checked them out. Their reps were good and professional. They took care of my needs right away. TotalProtect gave me a reference for people for my air conditioner claim. I called whoever they told me that they were sending out. Then when the service technician was here, I asked if I needed to do anything and she said that they would take care of it. The technician was pleasant and professional. She fixed it right away and told us to call her back if there were any issues. Everything has been good with Cinch so we'll stick with them for a while.

Submitting of the claim was very easy on the app. Then I reached out to the companies that they recommended and they came out and fixed the issue. I've had three claims this year for three different things and it's been very good. The contractors were very professional. They came, assessed the issue, and fixed the problem, and did not have to return. Everything that they fixed has been functioning as it should.

I had Cinch previously. I started it over again in September. Our experience submitting a claim with them has been horrible. First of all, when I have to call back once the tech leaves, no one calls me back. Then, all of those different prompts, it's hard for me to be able to get through with a live person to speak with someone. Then when I finally get someone, it’s someone from India. This has been ongoing. Years prior when I had them the first time and when I had to file a claim, I had the same problem.

Then, they never told me that I was gonna have to have a big $750 out of pocket. When I kept calling the place, who was gonna fix it, they said, “That’s for your home warranty people to tell you, give you the price.” Then, one time, I was trying to call and find out some information on it, the rep transferred me, said, “I'm gonna transfer you to the correct department.” Then he transferred me to Sears. Then when it came, it said, “Please enter your part number that you need. This is Sears.” I’m with Cinch and that was after waiting on the phone for about 30 minutes.

I was so pissed off I wanted to cry. Because for one, it was hot, and then it just took too long. It took almost seven days. I pay 54.95 a month, then I had to pay the $125 upfront in cash. They sent somebody for the service call and he diagnosed it. He said what was wrong and that was when he collected it. He said, “We have to order part but we have to contact your home warranty first to see if they’re gonna cover it." But the contractor that came out was really nice. I really liked the guy.

Going through the Cinch website is really easy. But there are not that many contractors here in the city where I live so they come up from outside of Nashville in three or four days. We had some plumbing issues and most recently we just had our air conditioner replaced. The AC replacement went really well but it took about a month thanks to the Coronavirus. It was not so much due to the contractor themselves but due to shipping and the parts people.

I was with a different warranty company and I wasn't happy with them. Then, there are a lot of vendors with various companies, and one vendor told me that he liked Cinch better. So I ended up switching to this one. I've been with them for several years now and I've been happy. However, the issue about getting ahold of somebody is not good. They don't have anybody there that can help me with claims and I didn't like that part. It's when you hold and hold to try to get to talk to somebody about your claim, and they say, "You can file it online," and then they hang up. Sometimes, that doesn't answer all my questions. Sometimes I have a question or something that just applying online isn't gonna cut it.

Also, I also don't know what name to use. They are always changing names. It'll be great if they send out a letter or an email to people and say, "From now on, you're gonna hear this." But the providers that they have sent out have been great. I just had Jack Jones Plumbing and they were very good and took care of the problem. Then I had Universal Appliances and they were also very good and took care of the problem. So, that part's good.

They finally sent me an email saying that they wanted me to see if I could find a contractor who would be willing to take a third-party payment. I called 10 different people and nobody wanted to do it. They said that it wasn't that they wouldn't get paid but it takes so long to get paid. I had no choice because our electric bill was going up $100 every month. And it's not cooling down any in Georgia. I just had somebody to do it and Cinch wouldn't reimburse me any of that. But I don't think that was fair because it wasn't my fault. They have replaced different appliances and stuff but I'm really upset about the air conditioner claim.

TotalProtect's monthly cost and the deductible that we paid when someone came out were cheaper at the time that we changed to them. It used to be $75. But now it's $125. The issue I had with them last year was that they lied and so they didn't cover my air when it wasn't working. I was pregnant and it was hot in Georgia so I just went and told my husband to buy a new air conditioner ‘cause I wasn't about to deal with TotalProtect. This year, I had an air issue with my other unit at my house. It was the same issue as the other one and they fixed it with no problem. As of now, I'm happy with them.

We had a plumbing issue too and I was able to easily go online and see what was covered. I thought that the issue I had was covered. They had a really good plumbing guy come out that told me the truth. So they should be more honest and they should clearly state what would be covered in everyone's policy. But their new website that I was on was fine. Also when I go to the website, it takes me to another company where I log in. So it looks like they're owned by a different company now.

The $125 deductible is a lot, especially when my plumber guy came out there and what I thought was would need to be fixed didn’t need to be fixed, but I still had to give him $125. Literally, it just cost us $20 to go to Home Depot and buy the part. They cover wear and tear but if we need a new spout thingy for the shower, they don't consider that normal wear and tear. I don't understand it because that’s how I’m operating the shower. So that should be covered but it wasn't. But even if they cover that, I will be upset to pay somebody $125 when I can just do it myself for $14 or 29 and whatever cents.

My experience just depends on the company and the service technician that they send out. Once we got the heating and air technicians going, they were okay. They're out at Sumter. The AC is now working. But I wouldn't want them again because they communicate with the company and won't communicate with me until after I cancel the services. And then they would send an email saying, "I'm on my way" or a text message. But they didn't even communicate with me. Our warranty service was transferred to Cinch. But it has been an extremely difficult experience. We have been without air conditioning in our upper level for two months now. It may possibly be fixed at this point, but the weather has been cooler so we won't know if it can handle the heat. If the repair actually works this time around, I should not be without my air conditioning in my upper level for the entire summer.

When you make a phone call to Cinch, you have to get verified through their automated system. Then when you get through to an individual and you have to be verified again. It takes over four minutes just to get through the automated system and that is if you're just bypassing. As soon as you hear the beginning of your address, you say yes. Then they ask you something else, and you say yes really fast before they get through the whole thing.

We've had to call Cinch multiple times. So by the time the five minutes are up, we get to the person speaking who's not always clear and they ask all of the same information that you've just given for the last five minutes and then it takes another three minutes to get that done. And then you can finally share why you're calling. It’s unbelievable to try to call somebody there. We're already aggravated about a problem we have in the house. And then it takes almost 10 minutes to actually speak to somebody to start telling about the problem we're having.

We had a refrigerator and a dishwasher repair last month. I gave the highest rating to the contractor because I was very pleased with the work. However, the refrigerator’s line leaked again and has now caused thousands of dollars worth of damage because it flooded my kitchen and the basement. That ended up being a terrible problem. I contacted TotalProtect yesterday and they sent a different repairman. We got the water turned off and a general contractor was here taking pictures. TotalProtect gonna sort things out but I’m overwhelmed right now.

Also, I had a microwave that they came out to repair and they repaired it the first time. The second time, the guy said it didn't make sense to repair it. There was a problem with the door and he said they could just replace it. TotalProtect said they would approve these models and I could select the model and then have it put in. They said they would reimburse me. I submitted all the paperwork and they said the didn't see it so I sent it in again. They refunded my service fee for the contractor visit because it was a repair that went bad, sorta like the refrigerator repair, but I never got reimbursed. They said it would be from a different department and I never got it. That was about three years ago. I followed up on it a couple of times and I should have actively pursued it but I just gave up on it.

Short version: be prepared to wait months for things to get repaired and be prepared to spend hours on the phone with Cinch and don't expect them to replace anything. Long version: when my wife and I bought a new home, our real estate agent convinced use to get a home warranty through this company which we thought was a good idea, but it turned into a complete nightmare. In the year we had the warranty we filled 4 claims. The first two were issues that were fixed in less than 5 minutes and cost us each the $100 deductible, oh well. The third was a claim for a pool heater. The technician assigned called us and said the didn't handle those kinds of claims and told Cinch not to contact him for them but he continued to get requests for service from them. Called Cinch and they assigned a new technician. He came out, we gave him the $100 and then we never heard from him again. After a month we called him back and he told us he was having trouble getting the part. We called the company and they said they would contact him. . . nothing. Another month and the same thing. After 3 months Cinch finally said we could find our own company to fix the heater. We are still in the process of figuring that out. Our fourth claim was for our dish washer. The first technician came out and thought it might be the pump and so a week later he replaced it. The problem didn't resolve. We called Cinch back and they assigned the same technician but he called us and told us to call Cinch back and assign a new technician because he didn't think he could fix it and we needed a second opinion. A new technician was assigned and came out, he thought it was something else and attempted to fix that, still didn't work. Called Cinch again and they reassigned the second technician who called me and said he couldn't fix it. Called Cinch again and they said it was being reviewed by the claims department to see if we could get the dishwasher replaced. Waited a week and called again, was on the phone for half an hour and asked to get transferred to a supervisor, waited another 15 minutes only to have the line go dead. Waited a day and called again. This time I was on the phone for over an hour, finally got to speak to a supervisor who said that they could someone out for a second opinion on the dishwasher. I told her that we already had two people come out so it would be a third opinion. She said that since the second technician was unsure what the problem was with the dishwasher a third person would need to determine the problem to see if they could replace it. It has now been a month without a dishwasher and 3 months with out a pool heater and hours spent on the phone and $200 in deductibles for things that haven't been fixed or replaced.

I thought 48 hours would have been pretty reasonable for heating and air issue. The claims process was all online and it was a little bit limited. That was kind of one of the things that potentially led to slower response. There was no higher priority kinda thing for heating and air issue. It was pretty vanilla and pretty transactional with no follow up. But the folks that came out were very good and did a good job to fix the issue. The old warranty I had didn't give me what I needed so I ended up going with another company. I wasn't displeased with the previous warranty company that I had. I think something just happened and they didn't support the mortgage company. So far, I've not had any issues at all with TotalProtect. I love TotalProtect. They're one of the best warranty companies that I've dealt with. I previously had a warranty plan with American Home Warranty and that was the worst company that I've ever had to deal with. They were not accountable for what they did. I have a very nice house and I've always had a very nice house, but they didn't want to pay for the warranty so they would have the contractors, in one case, to say that I lived in deplorable conditions, which is not true and never had been true for me.

They were the worst warranty company. My sister had the same experience with them. My mom was about to get some and we all said, “Absolutely not.” I've recommended TotalProtect to my family members because they were having issues with their warranty companies. I've not had any issues up until yesterday and it's not really an issue with TotalProtect. It was just an issue with the fact that the vendor that they recommended rejected it. I guess they didn't have the room to do so. So, it wasn't with them. I absolutely am extremely happy with the services thus far.

The only thing is I never knew the relationship between Cinch and TotalProtect because everything that I have relates to TotalProtect. So one thing that I would have suggested is if maybe they could have communicated it a little bit more. I'm used to TotalProtect. I call TotalProtect and up until recently, I saw Cinch. I didn’t know who they were, and I thought that they had routed me or I had been routed to somebody else. But from my experience, I have nothing but good things to say whether it's TotalProtect, and I know that that's who's getting my money because that's who takes out debits out of my checking account every month. I get top-notch contractors, too. They come in, and especially during this time with COVID, they're prepared. I've used a lot, and I am totally satisfied.

First they were Sears but after they went bankrupt their named was changed to CCHS but their contracts were just as worthless. CCHS must be going bankrupt too as they have changed their name to Cinch. Great formula. Don't pay on your claims, change your name, don't pay on those claims, change your name again and refuse to pay for those claims. For a company with all 1 star complaints you would think the attorney general would step in but they are allowed to take peoples money and not pay claims. Under CCHS we had a preventive service agreement where maintenance service calls were being reimbursed but now that they are Cinch they refuse to pay back or pay for outstanding claims. They owe us $100 they refuse to refund, even though we had that agreement before. Bottom line. It won't be long before Cinch is in trouble and you, the buyer will get screwed too. Stay away, stay very far away from this plan.

I file a claim last Tuesday 8/4 for a leaking water heater and a leaking fault valve. A week later TotalProtect has not bother to buy the water heater. When I call the service company they are saying that they are still waiting for Total Protect to approve the purchase???? You call their customer service in Colombia, and when you request to speak to a supervisor they tell you that no one is available. I will urge anybody to NOT buy this crappy insurance, is not worth the hassle, these people take your monthly payment, but you you need them they provide you with the worst third world country service, if this is what you want knock yourself out. Please research other great insurance company before getting with TotalProtect. They used to be really good, I guess the new management ruined the reputation.

I've had TotalProtect for years and now that submitting a claim is being done online, it’s much easier. At one time I had to call but that was some time back. The last claim I had was for the air conditioning and the contractor fixed it. He was gone within 12 hours from when I placed the claim. For the most part, TotalProtect has been very good. I’ve had very good luck with it.

The experience I've always had with TotalProtect has been pretty good. But not this time. When they were not Sears and they were TotalProtect, I loved it. I don't like them now because they're not friendly. They have to demand $100 before they even come out. Then, I have to be here forever. They don't give me a time. I work and it's very hard for me to take off work to do this. So it's just a little bit harder, and it's not as nice as it used to be when TotalProtect was doing it.

So far, I've only had the contractors out once for my air conditioner. The guys were very good and very professional. I really liked the guys that were coming out. I hope it's the same guys that had come out to fix the problem that was done six months ago. It was the same problem. In March, I had my air conditioner fixed, and the same thing was going on.

I used to recommend TotalProtect all the time. But now, it's changed. So, if you don't have the $100, forget it. They're not gonna come out. I've been with them for almost 12 years. When I stick with something, I stick with something. I'm loyal, but if they're not gonna treat me right, I raise my voice. But if you pay your $40 a month, it's well worth the money to protect your stuff because you never know when something's gonna break down. They also always send out really nice people too. The people that I deal with have always been very professional.

We have bought and sold in a 35-year period 27 homes. We moved often and we buy and sell. We know it’s always comparable to either extend to the new buyer or even for our self for protection to have the home warranty system. We started off with Long & Foster because of our Realtor that we trust and have used for years. She's a Long & Foster as well. Then when they convert it over, we just stayed with Cinch.

Having to submit a claim is usually very simple and very quick. I just get the information together. I log on and then fill out all the information that's required. Almost immediately, I either get a phone call or an email in response to follow up on it. And then immediately after registering, we usually get another email or a text stating who is gonna be our repair guys and that they're scheduling that repair. Then usually anywhere from a day to three days, we would hear back from the repair company and set up an appointment and come in and do it.

The service provided by the contracting companies is good and bad. We've gone through a number of them. We've had some that we feel like are shysters. Some of the things we don't like is if I have a brand name, as an example, and they wanna push off something that's not a brand name and tell us it's not within the warranty. There are companies that are like that. Overall, being a part of Cinch Home Services has been comfortable, professional and full of satisfaction.

The warranty is on a rental property and it covers stuff that keeps me from paying out of pocket. I had one heat and air unit replaced. It saved me about $4,000. It’d save me money in the long run. It's a 15% or 20% out-of-pocket. It's well-worth the cost. I’d rather pay money out every month for the coverage than get stuck paying a $7,000 bill at one time. The policy has changed now several times since I first started the company and it was aggravating. But in the last year and a half, I haven't had problems. It goes through quick. It used to be that when you got on the phone, you stay on the phone forever waiting on a connection. But they have really improved their quality service of getting things done. The technicians come out and do their job. I just explain to them what needs to be done and they’d do it. I've been well-satisfied with the quality of their work.

I had no difficulty with my claim with Cinch Home Services. It was very smooth transaction. Two of my electrical sockets didn't work. I couldn't figure out why so I needed an electrician. I went online and put it in my work order and within a couple days, the repairman was here and fixed the problem. He did a great job. I never received a bill. It was as perfect as you could get.

I had switched from one company to TotalProtect. I had another company. I had an issue and that company told me to get my own repairman, pay for it, then send them the bill, which is not the way it's supposed to work. That was not according to the contract, so I was very disappointed in them. That was when I switched to TotalProtect. Because when the contract says that they will provide the repairman, you don't have to go around hunting one for yourself. That's really important. I don't know any repairman. I had just moved to this area and I didn't know anyone. So, that wasn't my job anymore. But I did go to TotalProtect and I've been very happy with them.

I have some difficulty submitting claims. In the first year, we had one issue with our dryer and that was resolved. It seemed like an easy fix. But now, we have an issue with our freezer and it is frustrating. We had a serviceperson come out last June 30th. They had to come back out in July because the problem was not resolved with my freezer. They determined they needed to order a new fan. The new fan was ordered. It took me weeks to get an appointment.

The fan was installed August 11th. In the process, there was a problem because they readjusted my drawer. But now, my drawer doesn't seem to be closing perfectly. So they've ordered some more parts, which just came in today. But in the meantime, the same problem with the frosting and the water that's freezing that pulls up on the bottom of my freezer, is continuing. Once the technician leaves, I can't follow up with that technician. So I've gotten three different technicians out here now for the same problem. It makes sense if one person gets to know that customer and knows that appliance. But each repairman, in fairness to them, seemed very knowledgeable, but they don't have the advantage of coming back to the same problem.

What's frustrating is I'm not assigned a case manager that will make sure that the problem that's being addressed is resolved. When I had my first appointment for the freezer problem, when the problem was not resolved, I used the online. But then it dawned on me, this was gonna cost me another copay, for the same problem. My understanding with the Sears Home Warranty is that once I pay my copay for the service, then until that problem is not resolved, then there's no second copay. So I thought, I'd better call. I called customer service and got results from calling them. They scheduled the July appointment. If I had not done that, then an additional $75 copay would have been generated.

It's an amazing service that Sears Home Warranty has and offers, but it's frustrating. For example, now that the problem is still not resolved, I called customer service again and they said, "Ma'am, we can't get to you." My next appointment is September 3rd. This is gonna be the fourth service call on the same problem. What happens is, I had no one to call back other than the main office. They said, "Ma'am, until the parts come in, you cannot schedule them to come out any sooner than September 3rd."

I would love to continue with Sears Home warranty. I have no intention of dropping them. But from my perspective, someone's not managing. I take care of my appliances and I take care of my home. I would be considered a good customer because I'm really not calling for many problems. I do have confidence that the problem will be resolved. I see their trucks around town. They come to the appointments and they repair. The gentlemen are very nice, courteous and professional. But as far as the comprehensive picture, it's not there.

I called the person for a reimbursement, but I could never get them. I left a message. They never called. They need to do something about that. They even said that they’d go pay the installer if they’re the one who purchased it. But we had already paid the installer 1,200 some dollars. That is a lot of money. Their service is kinda sorry. I picked up Cinch Home Services two years ago after having them for seven years in Kissimmee Florida. My AC went down twice back then and I never had a problem. Their techs came out and did what they had to do. With them, I have a condition where someone comes to make sure that everything at my place is running correctly. I pay $200 a year, twice a year for that.

I recommended them to my sister living in Hollywood Florida who has cancer. There was a time when her AC was having ice buildup. She called Cinch and they sent a guy out. He went upstairs and checked the unit. He said that the issue was the Freon. My sister asked if she was all set again and he said yes. Within 36 hours, the AC went down again. The tech came again and told her that the unit was no good anymore. He called his company, put his paperwork in and said that someone must've tampered with my sister's AC.

My sister was so upset. She had just had her unit maintained not too long ago and the techs from the maintenance company said it was fine. My sister called them and asked if they could come check her unit because Cinch's tech said that her unit was no good and that somebody had tampered with it. When the gentleman from the maintenance company came, he said that he didn't know what the Cinch tech was talking about. No one had tampered with my sister's unit.

Cinch told my sister to email them the name of the company that maintains her unit. My sister sent the email and they never responded. My sister called them again and they said that they were denying the claim. My sister was crying. I feel bad after I gave Cinch a few references and praised them. I'm not happy at all and I'm not gonna renew my contract.

When I had a problem with my stove, I've had people come here and I paid the $125 which is kinda hard when you're retired. They fixed it and they put in a new part. But I still have the problem with that stove. The first time that a contractor came out, the issue was with the front burner that would get high. It was dangerous. It would turn red immediately. It was a long time ago and then they came back not that long. Then they came back again and did the same thing again. Now, it takes forever to go on. They won't give me a new stove. If I keep spending $125 for them to change the battery, I can buy a new one myself.

The only thing that was good was when I had a problem with my air conditioning. I’m 83 years old. I can't go without air conditioning. They sent me somebody and he was excellent. He told me the opposite of what the people that I got the air condition from was telling me. They told me a bunch of lies. This is the second year that I've had Cinch Home Services. It was very easy to process a claim and everyone was professional, courteous and informative. I never had any problems in terms of personnel, the workers, or the agents at the office.

When the workers first came to my home, they informed me of what they were going to do. They also informed me that if they had to order something, there might be a little delay in completing the job. So I knew upfront what was happening before they even started working. I had them work on my air conditioner and my heater. The system was 24 years old and it was about to break down. So even if they did a good job, I don't think it's gonna hold up for too much longer. He came back and he said he couldn't put my ceiling fan up because it's not in my house. He gave me his number if I want him to put it up, but he said it's not covered under my warranty. I wrote a letter online to the company and said that I wanted my ceiling fan fixed. I pay them automatically every month for God knows how many years.

A gentleman called me and he told me that the ceiling fan wasn't covered because it's not in my house. He said it's in the booklet. Every booklet that I've received, and I haven't gotten since 2017, just says ceiling fans. It doesn't say anything about where it is. I sent him an email and told him that I don't feel that I'm in the wrong because the only thing I've gotten from them was a statement letting me know that I had a renewal on my agreement and that inside the booklet I have just shows a ceiling fan. And when I called the claim in, someone should have asked me where the ceiling fan is but they just took the order and let it go.

I also wrote a letter and sent it to customer services with the attention to him. I downloaded the pictures and showed him my backyard. Since then, I have not heard from him. Also, he told me that I should get a new booklet within the next 10 days but it's been almost three weeks and I still don't have a new booklet. TotalProtect failed me. I sent them $125 because that's how much I had to pay to get the ball rolling and all they had to say was that ceiling fan is not covered in my contract and give me back my $125 back. But they did not do that.

This is not a way to do business. Have they lost ALL providers in Oklahoma? It shouldn’t take this long for a resolution… RUN FROM THESE COMPANIES – Cinch Home Services, Total Protect Home Warranty and PlusOne Solutions. Spend your money elsewhere

Our hot water heater stopped working on June 26th 2020. I made a claim. The technician came out July 1st. They determined it needed to be replaced. I was thinking after the warrenty company approved it it would be a nonissue WRONG! For 2 weeks I was told they didn't receive the paperwork from the plumber. I called the plumber who assured me they had sent it. This went on for about a week or more. I asked the plumber to contact the warrenty company. They did and it magically appeared. For the next 2 weeks they said they were in the process of ordering it. I was then told it was ordered and it would be shipped to the plumber from home depot. Another week passed so I started calling the plumber to see if it arrived. She said they don't accept deliveries, they go out and pick it up and in order to do this they needed a PO number. I called the warranty company to try to get it. They told me they couldn't give it to me. By this time the plumber had had enough of them and refused to contact them so I called them and said the plumber didn't want to deal with them so they transferred me to someone who had the number. Again with me playing middle man I called the plumber with the number. I had to call the warranty company back to find out if they were delivering the water heater here. I was told no it when the water heater WAS ORDERED (yes it hadn't been ordered) it would be delivered to the plumbing company. Remember they were told weeks back the plumber didn't except deliveries. They said they would have it shipped to a home depot. After several more calls and several untruths from them I decided I surrender. They won. It has been over 7 weeks of waiting and quite a few tears not to mention the daily 53 mile round trip to my daughter's to shower I decided it was time to call a plumber. I called one yesterday who came out today and within 2 hours I am blessed with hot water. I have never in my 58 years have l had such a horrible customer service experience. I will admit I was rude a couple of times to them but my frustration over this got the best of me. Please with Everything I have I'm asking you do not use this company. I wish I would have took it upon myself in the beginning. If I'd of known I would have had to go through all of this stress and frustration I would have done it 5 or 6 weeks ago. I think I'm going to open up an account and deposit put my premiums instead of using this useless warranty company. This way I'm not at the mercy of their incompetence and greed. Which reminds me they wouldn't go any further until we agreed to pay over $400 for extra repairs which we did I think they called them modification fees. What a joke they are and what a powerful lesson I've learned.

The one thing that most people have problems with is not being able to easily access a person. When you go through and submit a claim, it automatically routes it to whoever they want to route it to. The last time I had to do one was for air conditioning. I wanted it to go to Flowertown Heating And Air who had my preventive maintenance. When you have one company doing the preventive maintenance and they're part of TotalProtect, you want them doing it. I didn't want anybody else messing with it. But the claim was automatically sent out but it came up with Flowertown. Cinch wants you to do everything, punching buttons or speaking into the phone, which is great if you have a simple thing but if you need to ask a question, it's difficult to get someone. But everything else is pretty easy and I've never really had any problems with them other than that.

So, it is taking me 12 days to repair the dishwasher. For the fridge, I waited for one month. They do the work but they don't do it on time. They have to do the service in one or two days. But that's my only disappointment and everything is okay with them. I’ve been a customer of TotalProtect for 10 years and this is the first year I got so many issues with them.

Cinch Home Services has been good since the transfer from Long & Foster. The providers they partnered me with were quick and professional and got the job done. We've owned our own home and rental property in the past. It started off with our rental property. The claims submission was done by phone call and then it moved to a mobile app that made it even faster and easier.

The very first time I used the app was for an emergency situation with a complete sewage blockage overflowing into a bathroom and into a tub. The incident happened late on a Friday night and the tenants informed me at midnight. I didn't get the message until the very next morning. When I explained to Cinch that their normal scheduling of sometime next week wasn't gonna work, they very quickly did whatever was necessary to resubmit the request for an emergency review of the extra money that would be involved for overtime and an emergency situation on a weekend. So it was resolved on the same day, and I was very happy about that. My tenants were happy, too.

I've been a customer of TotalProtect for quite some time. When submitting claims, it is sometimes very convenient and I’ve been satisfied with the referral but other times, it has been complicated. I had a bad experience with them sending me a plumber who didn't know what he was doing and I ended up just getting another plumber. TotalProtect tends to follow up afterwards to ask if you're satisfied. So, I hope they take that feedback into consideration when deciding whether to continue with a provider or not. I had a recent experience where I had to call and they tried to send me the same plumber that they had sent me once before that I knew I would no longer do business with. So, I insisted that they refer someone else, and they did that.

Everybody that we've worked with thus far has been really good. When the contractor came out for our garage door, they observed distancing and wore their face masks. But I had one issue with the garage door because it wasn't fixed the first time. When I called back and I had paid the deductible, they tried to set me up with someone else. That person they tried to set me up with wanted us to pay and didn't wanna take our claim because they wanted us to pay another deductible. So that was kinda frustrating at first until they realized they needed to set me up with the same person that attempted the first repair. I called back several times and about three different people told me different things until finally I called back and got one person that said I needed to go back to the original repair person.

So on July 25th my water heater had a major leak, contacted the warranty service and was given a service provider, they were not open, but walked me through what I needed to do until they could come on Monday morning. On Monday July 27th they came and determined that my water heater needed to be replace. They started the process with Cinch Home Services home warranty company to get this done. That was 12 days ago from the day it started to leak. We are going on almost two weeks without hot water in our home, this is unreal! I understand that maybe, just maybe COVID-19 might have something to do with the delay, but really?? Seriously?? It is a paperwork processing issue on Cinch Home Services end and my service provider is waiting on Cinch to approve the water heater, I can’t believe the service we are getting from Cinch.....it is poor at best! This is not the first time I have had an issue with this company, last year I had my A/C go down during the hottest time of the season and it took them almost two weeks to resolve that issue for me. You would think they would cut you a break if they can’t get your issue resolved in under 5 days but they don’t. I am very disappointed with them and their overall service. Long but please read..

Cinch Home Services (CHS) is the worst company on earth. I DO NOT recommend them.

I have been a loyal customer of CHS for over 5 years and never had a problem with them. The last I used their services was about a month ago when my water heater broke. I called to submit a claim and they informed me that they no longer provided service to my area. In fact, it was now my responsibility to find a company that would service my area and once the company completed the job, I was submit the claim to CHS for approval. I found a company that would fix my water heater and submitted the claim to CHS. After all that and doing their job for them, CHS approved the claim to replace the water heater and I was to pay $125 service fee for using their services.

After approving the claim, CHS told me that I was to pay the other company out of pocket and the would reimburse me the full amount of the job minus $125. I received the check in the mail and noticed that they had taken an additional $160 out. I reached out to them several times by phone and email and it took them 10 days to get back to me.

It was hard dealing with customer service because the people on the other line don’t deviate from their scripts. They didn’t answer any of my questions or help resolve my problem. They couldn’t explain to why they approved the claim for x amount and then stole $160 extra.

I asked to speak to a case manager and they said that i would have to wait 24-48 hours for someone to call me back. It took 4 days for them to reach out, only to be told that they couldn’t do anything for me and would not return the $160 they took. I asked them how they were going to make this right and they simply said there was nothing they could do. Worst customer service ever.

I found out the company was recently sold, which makes sense now that I’m having all these problems with CHS. If I would have known that CHS was the new buyer I would have gone with another company. The reviews for CHS are horrible with many complaining about being over charged like I was without resolution.

CHS are a bunch of thieves. They don’t explain thing correctly. They don’t offer the services that I paid for. They don’t do anything to try to resolve the situation. This is the worst company I have dealt with. BUYER BEWARE!

SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!...BUYER BEWARE.... I would not go with this company if it was the last one on earth. I wish there was option of strong dislike...or 0 stars. We bought our house and the HMS home warranty (or Cinch warranty) was added at time of sale. Our refrigerator malfunctioned recently and we had a major leak in the kitchen and water seeping to the downstairs neighbour's ceiling.

I called this company immediately and they gave us phone number of a service provider in our area who will come out to check and repair. They immediately charged me 100$ deductible. I was supposed to call and set up appointment with the provider. After several hours I could get a hold of the provider and they said they could only come out on the 8th day to have a look at the issue. I was unpleasantly surprised and told them that I have a full refrigerator and freezer of groceries due to COVID situation as I had done my shopping on previous day - a Sunday. They told me to call back my insurance company and work with another provider.

After going thru their automated system and getting hold of another agent and explaining that 8 days are not acceptable for coming to look at refrigerator the agent on call gave me National Service Alliance number without telling me that they were the dispatchers of providers and not a provider themselves. I gave them a call and got the difference after which they gave me yet another number of a local provider and asked me to contact them for appointment timings. All this is happening when I am also working with my home insurance for damage assessment and neighbour for cleanup and our own cleanup.

After trying several times throughout the day the 2nd provider did not pick up the call. Next day I called HMS again and after a long discussion they told me they will find another for me and after holding the call for a long time (the agent was always repeating sorry for wait) 1.5 hrs in total they said that the only other provider they could send was the first one. I said, "I already explained the situation to you." They cannot come out till after 8 days and they said, "We don't have any other."

The story is very long but after 13 hours for calling and repeating my story with several agents and talking with their manager (who was rude and lied about sending a person next day) and talking with the supervisor or manager who admitted they can't send anyone before 8 days. When I said, "Will you cover my bill if I get my own repairs done?" they said NO and that I will lose my warranty on all other appliances too. SO I am stuck with them. They have taken my deductible and charged it to account and I can't go to anyone for refrigerator service. They also told me I could move my account with someone else for all they cared. I would not go with this company if it was the last one on earth. Save your money and be free. At least that way you have choice.

They've always been very thorough and if they can't fix something right away or they need to wait for parts, they're very informative about when they'll be back and when the part comes in. They also get the appointment scheduled according to my schedule, which is great. As for Cinch Home, I'd call them in the middle of the night and they'd be very responsive. My dad had been helping me out to take care of the house then he passed away. I thought a home warranty would be the next best thing and TotalProtect is working out pretty good. I've used them several times and mostly, I find they send out good people. Their contractors have been out several times to do the dishwasher. A couple of times, I got a new heater element and control box on my electric stove. My washer totally broke and they replaced it. I’m also having the garage door opener done on Tuesday. I've had some things done with the refrigerator and they sent somebody out to fix my toilet too.

However, the people that they sent for my water heater was sort of hokey. They did the water heater and our code requires the pan underneath. They had no idea about that and they made me pay for it. Then there was a plumbing part that they had to reconnect and they made me pay for that too. Also, if you want something electric and something plumbing, you have to pay 125 for the electric and 125 for the plumbing. It could be all electric. It could be all plumbing. They can have one company come out and handle everything.

They cover garage door openers and ceiling fans, but they don’t cover the bathroom exhaust fan and I’m not happy that they don’t. I need a new motor in that. They also don’t cover my basement refrigerator. They only cover the main refrigerator. Another thing is sometimes, I don’t get anybody in my zip code so I always have to remind them I want somebody close.

Notified HMS 3 weeks ago that the refrigerator was broken. Repair company assigned and came out in a timely manner. Replacement part took one week to arrive. Repair company came 2 days later to fix. Part did not fix problem, they had to refer back to HMS. HMS found us "another" repair company. It was the same one who already came and was unable to fix. 3 days wasted. We're told by multiple representatives a variety of things such as, they guarantee a fix within 30 days or they replace the item, one even said 7 days.

Next company, never answered the phone or returned calls. Called HMS again, if you don't get the name of the person on the phone at HMS when you're having a problem they Will hang up on you. Asked to speak to a supervisor, they are NEVER available. Said it could be up to 48 hours for them to call, us. It took 36. Management said there is no 30 day rule. All she could offer was to send back to the routing department to look for yet another repair company. Asked for her manager.

The day prior we had called the sales department to see what they tell people who want a new home warranty. Sales says the broken item will be replaced or fixed within 7 days... We are on day 22 in July. On hold with the manager's, manager. He stated the same lingo as prior. Zero resolution. Mind you this entire time the company has been looking for another provider unsuccessfully. Do NOT PURCHASE A HOME WARRANTY FROM HMS!

So far, HMS has met my expectations. Recently, we had our sump pump come out and the contractor came out and replaced it. They were great. They were knowledgeable and timely, and they delivered great customer service. Submitting the claim was easy and efficient but there are 2 things in the process that can be improved. I live in between Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio. In this case, the plumber was dispatched from probably 50 minutes away when there's a closer company within Cincinnati that could have potentially done the same thing. The second thing was, when a sump pump fails, there's not really a whole lot that you can repair on it. So having to go back and get permission to replace it took more days and time when you're already stressed out and have a flooded basement.

The last time one of Cinch Home's contractors came to fix my refrigerator, he slid it out in order to fix it. When I looked on the floor, there was a gash on my linoleum. I asked him if he put something heavy down and he said no. I told him that the gash wasn't there before and that it looked like he dropped something. He told me that maybe the gash could have been made when he pulled out my refrigerator. The tech should have felt that resistance when he dragged my refrigerator. I waited to see if he was gonna say anything or at least accommodate me in some way. He just said "bye" and left.

He knows he did it and he didn't say that he was sorry or say that if I needed something, I should call the company and tell them what happened. I'll eventually replace the linoleum anyway but I was still disappointed because he didn't address the problem. Still, submitting claims to Cinch has been very easy. Up until the when the tech caused a two-inch gash in my linoleum, I've been very satisfied with how their contractors come in and do what they have to do.

Submitting claims with Residential MD is easy. I call it in and they are good and prompt. They respond every time. A couple years ago, I had a stove that was leaking gas. I called them and they told me to call my local gas company. My local gas company told me to call the plumber. I didn't know what plumber was involved with gas but the people from the company that supplies natural gas in the Houston area said there was nothing wrong with the gas line. The gadget was malfunctioning that was why gas was leaking. My biggest concern was not having complete coverage of an appliance that needed to be replaced. The main reason I have left them is because they really don't replace the appliance. I pay a certain amount and it’s kinda like they don't take care of it 100% if something needs to be replaced.

My experience in submitting a claim was good although the people are hard to understand. Many of them don't sound like they speak English as a primary language but that was the only complaint I would have. They were extremely polite and helpful, and they got the job done. I recently had to submit a claim for my air conditioning and I called on a Friday. They were able to get me an appointment through Sears but the rep gave me two options. She said that they could have one guy out by Monday and the other guy out by Wednesday. Obviously, I wanted my air conditioning fixed sooner so I chose Monday and they were on time.

The gentleman practiced good social distancing and protocol for COVID-19. Then he kept me apprised of what was going on, got downright to business, was polite and was able to fix the air conditioning on that first visit. He collected the fee as promised and the fee was the right amount of money. It was professional and everything was seamless. The air conditioning has been wonderful since then. I'm satisfied. Cinch also followed up, to make sure everything went good, in an email. So it was a great experience.

All the warranty company is telling me is my claim is in 'research' and they cannot give me any more details or any time frame. I should have just eaten the cost of repairing the damn AC instead of living without for this long. I could deal with a week, in fact I even expected it, it is a warranty company after all. But two weeks and still not even an ETA, just downright atrocious.

I just had a horrible experience with TotalProtect and I still haven't gotten my issue resolved. I’m thinking about cancelling my service. I submitted a claim for my washing machine that went out. I called TotalProtect. They arranged for a company by the name of Alliance to come out and do an assessment. The gentleman came out. First, he didn’t have a mask. Second, he didn't have the protection for his feet. He didn't even introduce himself. He just came in and asked where the problem was. I said, “Oh, hi! My name is Virginia. Let me show you where the laundry room is.” I proceeded to take him in. He took the washing machine back and he was explaining to me that I needed a whole new motor. It took him about five minutes to assess it. He used his flashlight, looked under it, took pictures of the model or serial number from the back, had me sign something, and left.

I waited a day or two to see what was the outcome. I called customer service to ask what was the status of the process. I was told that I was denied. I asked why and they said it was my fault because I put too many clothes in the washing machine. My load was too heavy and I broke it. I asked for a copy of the technician’s assessment and they said I had to call Alliance to get it.

I called Alliance and spoke with the customer service lady. I asked for a copy of the report and she proceeded to read me the report. I told her I didn't need that because the gentleman at TotalProtect had already read it to me and told me why it was denied. I told her I just needed a copy of it. She said I needed to pay another $125 for the deductible. I told her I had already went online and paid that. She said they didn't show that I paid. I told her I was not gonna pay them again to get a copy of the report and she proceeded to read the report to me again. I said, “Ma'am, I don't need that information. I already know it.” She got upset with me and hung up. I called back and she wouldn’t answer the phone.

I called TotalProtect and told them I'm having issues with communicating with the customer service person that answers the phone. I'm gonna file an appeal because I don't think that the report is correct but I don't have anything in writing. I've been dealing with TotalProtect now trying to get a copy of the denial for the last two weeks. I went on their website to see if I can just file another claim to get a response from them because nobody is responding. I call in so much that nobody on customer service has an answer for me.

The one gentleman escalated up to report the customer service experience I had with Alliance but I haven't heard anything back. I haven't received the denial. I haven't gotten any progress made with TotalProtect and my claim. I was just on the website a little bit ago trying to figure out the status. It says in there that my order was complete, but there are no details whether it was approved or denied. It just says “complete” and I don't know what that means. This is the first time I've ever had this situation happen. I dealt with TotalProtect the first time maybe two months ago. I had an issue with my air conditioning unit. The gentleman came out, he replaced the part, and I paid my deductible. There were no problems.

My sister and my brother-in-law were in American Home Shield but they're in a different state. So as soon as TotalProtect became available, I decided I would join this and financially, it's been a very sound decision. Everything is working out fine. They've also gotten a whole lot better in terms of actual responding time. It is now reasonably good. But when I first started, sometimes it would be three or four days before they would get a contractor out to check out my place and check out my complaint. But now, it's usually in 24 hours or so that they are actually on the scene.

Climate Control worked on my air conditioner and they did an excellent job. They had to come back for that same unit for a different reason about five weeks apart but I paid the service charge because there were two different things that they were concentrating on. The last issue was some type of valve that was leaking. They told me that in order to replace that, because there were so many parts and so many pieces of that air conditioner in front of it, it would probably be a four-hour job. But when they came back, they finished the job in a little less than four hours.

We have automatically renewed our homeowners warranty because we have appliances and they do break. We wanted to have some kind of protection. In the past, it was always a good experience with HMS. However, we had a really bad experience with them last time. We filed a complaint and we never heard from them. This was one of our air conditioning units. The pump was broken. It was replaced by a company and that company placed a smaller pump so it's making a loud noise. We called HMS and told them that our previous one was not loud. This one is so loud that if you're sitting in a kitchen you can hear it. They said they'd get back to us and they never did. Now, it's been almost two months. When they give somebody a promise that they're gonna call them back, do follow up and do call them back. Even if it’s declined, at least follow up.

Updated on 09/10/2020: I filed a claim related to my microwave. Since day 1 I have been conveying is brand new. When set timer it trips circuit breaker in basement after 3 or 4 minutes. I have had 3 electricians and 2 appliance repair appointments. Each stating it is the other companies responsibility. I do not choose the companies sent to my home Cinch does. This has been going on since June 26th. I was notified today that there is nothing wrong with the unit. They knew from the very beginning I reported as electrical if this was not covered why was an electrician sent out not once, not twice but 3 times??? I am beyond frustrated! I was told this would be resolved. I was just told they were going to get a manager then I got a thank you very much enjoy your day. Apparently after putting me on hold she forgot she was getting me a manager. Either way should be covered and shouldn't have taken 3 months for this answer. Trust when I say anyone I know looking for a home warranty I will tell them do NOT use Cinch!!

Original Review: I filed a claim on June 26th they sent out a technician from their company of choice on June 30th. The technician broke a statue on my porch. Didnt say a word. Did not wear a mask and was flippant and rude. I filed a complaint and never received an apology from anyone. My estimate details provided were much different than what cinch had on file. I have been calling daily to get updates and have asked to speak to managers. I have only spoken to one manager, who told me both issues would be taken care of. Since I have been told managers have called me back (they have not). If I pay an additional $100.00 they will send someone out. They have scheduled and cancelled all in a day. And they are telling me what is wrong and insisting I am wrong in my description. Again, I have only had 1 company who gave them a quote that said light fixture. My microwave trips the circuit breaker when I cook with for more than 3 minutes. I have never been told if it is covered or not. I assume both should be covered on line 4 electrical systems. I dont think I have spoken to the same person more than once. I have a hard time understanding, they have raised their voice to me, have been condescending and blatantly lied. I had someone scheduled to come out today and they were a no show. This is the worst home warranty and experience ever!!

I've been with the company going back to the early 90s. It had a different business name at that time. The items that were listed that they covered were items that we had here in the home. Even though there was some warranty on it from the manufacturer based on the purchase of the product, it was to me a good choice in extending the warranty through TotalProtect.

We've submitted several claims over the years and the company was very cooperative. They worked with me if I had a problem with the service person who was coming into the home. One time, there was an air conditioning problem and the young man who came in told me there had been carbon monoxide that was showing up. We've got these protective devices in the house for carbon monoxide, smoke, and fire. That particular carbon monoxide device is not showing up. The batteries in it are good because we replace them every year. I said I was not gonna replace the unit yet because I'd rather call and see if we could get a second opinion.

I contacted TotalProtect and they told me that they would authorize a second opinion. Another person came out and one of the things that I asked him to make sure that he brought with him was the carbon monoxide detector. He did his inspection of the AC. He said it was not the case so that satisfied me. I told the initial company who had come out what the findings were and I also told them that I thought they were just trying to sell me some new equipment. As of this day, I still have not had a carbon monoxide occurrence in my home and that's been almost seven years ago now. It's things like that over the years and the service comes. They do what they do and I haven't had any problems that's why I'm a long-term member.

The contractors are always professional. They come in and ask what's going on. I tell them and the problem is fixed. I was happy with what the initial work was, but now, the guys seem to come a lot quicker. The only thing is when they switched over the name of the company, I never received any mail or email or anything about it. When I had a situation with one of the bathrooms in the home, I saw that they've mentioned Cinch. I wondered what that was. I sent an email about three months ago and told them to send me a new book so I would see and know what was going on. That's how I learned the name had been changed and they were doing business totally different.

We’ve had excellent service with them. They were TotalProtect before and then they switched over to Cinch but we haven't seen any problems. That's why we have stayed with them for so many years. The claims are answered right away, and we usually have somebody out within 24 to 48 hours. One time, the wiring on our refrigerator burnt out and they replaced the old unit with a brand new one. The only thing is it takes a few weeks for them to get the new appliances in when they're replacing appliances, so we were four weeks without a refrigerator.

Another thing is that they should try to get more service providers because there's only one in Laredo that will work with a warranty company, and he’s backlogged. It's hard to get him here which is the only downfall. Other than that, TotalProtect has also done repairs on our washing machine and our dryer and now they're replacing our full split air central unit. It was three weeks waiting on it, but they told me today it has come in, so they'll be installing it this coming week. Overall, we're very pleased with them. We've even gotten my son to switch over his warranty to Cinch.

Sometimes the contractors are a little slow getting there, but the process of submitting claims is easy. It's kinda hit and miss on the type of skilled tradesmen that you get, but it’s all right. The heating and air guy was real good. He did a couple of trips because of some warranty issues, and he's coming back again next Tuesday. I had an electrician come over a couple days ago. They’ve had to change a breaker on the outside box. They didn't like wearing masks so I kept my distance and they stayed outside. That was really the only issue there.

Cinch saved me quite a bit of money so far. I don’t have it on my personal house but I have it on the house I own next door which my mother used to live in. She was very particular about things going wrong and it was easy to just call someone. Cinch saves me time, too. If you gotta replace the AC unit or do a plumbing job, it's time consuming.

Years ago, I heard about TotalProtect through a friend, and I called up to inquire. I asked a lot of questions and then, a few months later, I decided that this might be a good way to go. So far, I feel great about that decision and I’m very pleased with TotalProtect. Recently, my furnace in my basement, with the air conditioning running, it was leaking onto my basement floor. I saw all of this water, got concerned about it and cleaned it up. A few days later, it was there again, so I called TotalProtect. Now, I'm dealing with the service provider (AMC) and the gentlemen came out and he looked at it. He thought maybe it could be the drain pipe that needed to be blown up, so he blew out the drain pipe and then he told me to call them back if that didn't fix it.

A couple of days later, I noticed that there was still water that’s leaking. When I spoke to AMC again, they said to give it a little more time because it might be just some residual that's there and coming through. I waited a few more days and after that, it was still coming. I cleaned it up, and I could still see it coming. I called AMC again, and they came out and looked at it. They thought that it might be a problem with the A-coil. They also saw that the water was still leaking, and they said that they would report it to TotalProtect. At this point, I'm supposed to hear from TotalProtect as to what’s gonna happen. I just want to get it fixed, but I’ve been very pleased with the service.

It's been almost eight weeks and our AC unit is still not working. I put the claim in on June 6th and TotalProtect sent out the initial repair company. The guy filled the coolant and left, and we had cooler air for about 12 hours until it all leaked out. I called the guy back and told him it wasn't working again. He said he was too busy to come back so call the home warranty company again and I did. They sent out Sears a few days later. The initial guy filled it again with coolant and left. It went out again. They sent another guy out. He replaced one of the parts in the attic and sealed it with coolant again. It worked for about 24 hours then it went out again. They sent out another guy. He said it was the outside unit so they ordered a part for it. Apparently it took them about two and a half weeks to get the part.

They finally came and replaced that outside unit part. It was two weeks ago and it lasted another 24 hours. So I called the warranty company again and they sent out a new company who was here on Monday. They said the whole outside unit needs to be replaced. There are leaks and they can't fix them. I was told that I should hear something on Tuesday if the replacement was approved and when the replacement unit would be in. I don’t even know how many times I've called over the course of the last seven weeks and I still have not heard anything at all this week. I've called the AC company and TotalProtect. I had to speak with a supervisor earlier. She put me on hold for about 10 minutes and transferred me to the local AC company. The last time I asked for a supervisor, it took two weeks for them to call me back. Communication is terrible not only between them and the customer, but between the contractors and them as well.

The other repairs have been fine. We have two units- a downstairs unit and an upstairs unit. The downstairs unit’s the one that's broken. The upstairs unit has been running 24/7 for the last eight weeks and that went out, so we had to go to a hotel because it was 90 degrees inside our house. A guy came out and fixed it the next day. We only had to stay in a hotel for one night, but during the same time the garage door went out and a guy came out and replaced it the next day. So, as far as cost, it's fine. It's just this specific incident that's ridiculous. It was three or four years ago when the current broken unit was fully replaced so it's under warranty. It should never take eight weeks for it to fix an air conditioning unit. I don't know what's causing the delay or the decision making process to be slow. Their responsiveness and customer service is definitely not anywhere near as it was.

When we got a little notice in the mail through our bank asking if we have ever considered a home warranty, we started looking into it and I thought it wouldn’t be a bad idea. So we went ahead and did it with TotalProtect. It was cheap enough per month but if something happens, it would be covered and we just pay a deductible. So far, we've had good service from TotalProtect and submitting claims with them has been pretty easy. I go online and start the process, or call them and start it that way. My claims seem to be taken care of very quickly, but there are no local people where I'm at that would come and do the service. They're from areas that are farther away, but they drive here and fix things.

Cinch Home has been very responsive when I place claims. Plus, their process is very simplified. I just answer with what's going on and by the time I finish doing what I need to do online, I have the phone number of the provider to call. In the summer of 2019, my AC unit had a total meltdown and Cinch sent techs out of Sherwood Heating and Air whom they subcontracted. The guys whom they sent out didn't have it together. They tried three different times to get my AC to reset over the course of 45 days during which it was very hot outside and inside my home. As soon as I emailed Cinch that we had been sweltering for 45 days, they responded the next day saying that they have me approved to have a new AC system put in.

The workers came out and put a system in but the quality of their work was so poor. They didn't put the exchange part inside the house. They just fixed the outside portion. They had personal issues. One kept saying that he was going through a divorce. They needed focus on doing the right job. The tech told me that I could give them a call and they could come back and put the coil in. The techs never came back. Instead, Cinch sent a new unit that's a split system. I put a claim in and Cinch sent a little old man out. That man called me the next day and told me that he was on his way. I told him that I thought I needed to call to make an appointment. I also told him that though I'm really impressed that he called me, I was headed to work. I asked if we could plan something for that Friday. The old man responded saying that I should just give him a call.

I called him on Thursday to confirm and told him that I had to work 15 hours on Thursday night and so I'll be home sometime on Friday. The old man told me that whenever I would come home during the day is fine. He came and got to the coil part in the house. He found where the previous tech split a line. The Freon tube of my AC got filled with soldering stuff so it was occluded except for a little hole through which some Freon could get through. He took pictures and said he had never seen anything like that. He told me that he was gonna see if we could just replace the coil. He ended up fixing it and putting the proper expansion valves in where he found the tubing was bad. He got all the welding material out of the tube. So far, my unit works really well.

I sent my claim online and it was really easy to do. But it took five times for Sears to come out and get it right. But they still kept coming out every time I kept calling. I told them it was still not working right and they said they would send somebody else. One of the guys they sent told me that he didn't know what to do. That was not helpful but they sent him again. It was still an issue because he wouldn't do anything. The last gentleman from Sears was a little bit more mature and helpful. I was really happy that he was able to fix the problem and he definitely went above and beyond and out of his way. So overall, I was really happy. It was just a little frustrating that the AC was out when it was really hot. But in the end, the AC is working great.

About two years ago, we had trouble with the washer and dryer at the same time and Sears came out. They had to replace the electronic board in both of them plus a couple of other things. They didn't question it at all and they fixed it. It probably would have cost as much to repair both of them as I pay a year for the warranty. It's much easier to budget a monthly fee with Cinch Home Services than try to put money back, so you can pay a $300, $400 or $500 repair bill. You can go online and submit the claim and set a time for the service person to show up and it usually has been a Sears service technician. There's a different company coming out Saturday to work on my washing machine, but I'm sure they will be the same quality.

They kept giving me the runaround. They kept telling me that it was in the approving department, and then it was back in the purchasing department. It took them almost four months for me to get that settled. But the contractors that come out are good and professional. I saw TotalProtect's advertisement from the mortgage company that serves my mortgage. They were offering discounts, and I looked them up really quick. Positives were more than negative so, I went with it. Submitting claims is straightforward. They have a website for logging into for the client. Within a couple of days, somebody contacts me. They assign the claim the same day, but it depends on the vendor that's doing the service. A couple of times, they spent at least three days to get back to me. But during those days, I received text notifications from TotalProtect asking if the service provider have contacted me or if I needed help to reschedule. I could reply with yes or no and usually after I do that, I get a call from the service provider. I wish they would give you the option to choose the vendors if you have somebody in mind or local that you tried before and you want to use, but I don't think any other home warranty company does that.

And then we have an older house, so things pop up at any given moment. I prefer to do my claims over the phone. I have had good experiences with the representatives, regardless of how I felt about the service, per se. We don't live in like a huge city and the selection of contractors hasn't always been that good. So it varies. But the last guy was a really good plumber. He was a really good guy.

My plan has changed since I first received and I'm not that thrilled about the deductible. I don't even remember why my plan changed. It looked like the biggest mess that pissed me off. Now that they have a larger deductible, if you call the plumber, he should fix multiple issues. So if the sink is messed up in the bathroom and the tub is messed up, it never should've been two separate deductibles.

Their price was cheaper. It was a better price for the package that I was getting. I checked into other warranty companies and they had limited coverage. Cinch offered service agreement twice a year. With that plan, there’s no charge. I've been satisfied with them. But there have been a couple times that it took a lengthy time to get the work done. For instance, I had my unit go out and I was out of my house for about 10 days. This year, I put a service call and they assigned me to a company. I came to find out that the company was in another state, which is across the state line from where I live. I put in for the service prior to my unit going out. I never heard from the first vendor that they assigned me to. After that, my unit went out so I had to call back. I was calling the vendor and they never answered my call every time I call. When I finally called back for the third time, I got a lady that helped me and my service call turned into a repair call.

Cinch should match their customer with a local vendor. I was clearly not matched with a local vendor. I don't know how many miles from Shreveport he was, but it was not a local vendor. Cinch should also do a follow up as they're dealing with the customer because that vendor did not give me any service. I did call back and I told them that because they had to find me someone else.

You speak to a robot and you have to say over and over, “Customer service, customer service representatives.” And then finally you are finally connected. It's too irritating to deal with and I'm tired of it.

I had a warranty and I let it go due to monetary circumstances. But this time, I had two air conditioning breakdowns in the middle of the summer and the pandemic. It was just insane the rigmarole that I was put through. I have health issues and I just got three surgeries. I'm scheduled for another one next Friday and I can't cope with this kind of nonsense. I needed somebody right away. My house was 95 degrees and I was trying to get ahold of them. It was Friday night. They wouldn't let someone come to check it. I had to wait until Monday. I called back Saturday then Sunday. I'm not a happy camper with the Sears warranty.

Nothing happened on Friday night, Saturday, or Sunday. Monday was almost over and finally, Cinch called me. I told the young man on Sunday night that I have health issues and so he put me over to Cinch and that's where I got excellent service and everything was taken care of and handled right away. Cinch is fine. The last time I had issues when I was with the company the first time, they let me call my own person right away because it was after hours. And I didn't have to go through all the shenanigans I have had to do the last two times. The second time, I've been a member where you pay the $100 every call. In the beginning, Cinch didn't charge me anything. Now, it's $100 every time someone comes out. I first had this warranty maybe four years ago.

I have had very good experiences last time with Cinch. They always call me right away and they really try to help me. The first girl that took care of me last time once I got over to her was amazing. She was on top of it. She called me back right away then she called me again to make sure I understood. This time, they just straight out said that they couldn't find anybody in my area but they knew I have health issues and they were gonna let me call your own person.

The people are great. I had a Kenmore washing machine and it was older. I had it for a long time because it was a good quality product. What they replaced the washer with was okay. And then the air pump that they put in was okay. But I decided I was not going to use that so I got a drain from a private company. I was very happy with Cinch but not so much with Sears.

I was on the internet and looking for coverages for my home. I ran into Cinch on the internet and I gave them a call and the rest is history. I look around for things to make things easier for me. I'm retired and I used to do it myself. I can't and most times, I won't. If I have someone that's to come in and do it, it sounded like a reasonable deal to me.

In the early days, when they came out, it was only $85 and it appeared the service was outstanding. But when it started to go up to 125, I've had some situations and they left me hanging. One time I jumped ship, but the place I went, it was worse than what I was getting. So, I came back. I had a problem with our refrigerator and they couldn't get that fixed. Something happened with my toilet and they couldn't get that fixed. I had to pay for it myself. But they gave me most of my money back and that was okay.

But we got this dishwasher situation and the tech that came out said that the circuit breaker was not working properly. We got Duke Energy out as soon as they were released to come out and they came and said, "There's nothing wrong with this thing." A couple of other technicians came out and said that the dishwasher was okay but the motherboard was not working properly, and, "You probably gonna have to get another unit." That was okay too, but there were gaps in there when I didn't know what was going on. I had been waiting for over a month to get this thing done. My reply was, "If I were to have a lapse in my giving to you, I would have gotten dropped." I have not been too happy about that. But other than that, the people in customer service were really empathetic. But it would be outstanding, impeccable customer service if they could pick up that phone, pay attention and follow up.

TotalProtect has saved me a lot of money over the years. Getting them was one of the best moves I ever made. I had an air conditioner and a water heater replaced. I had electrical work done. I also had a new microwave installed. Years ago, they sent a provider to repair my toilet and I wasn't really pleased with their demeanor and attitude. So I called TotalProtect and I told them about it and they said not to worry and that they would never send that person to us again. Ever since then, they've always sent me great people. I love TotalProtect and I've already told lots and lots of people about them.

Considering the age of a lot of the appliances and the AC unit, I got TotalProtect. The policy offered more than others did. A lot of other policies had too many exceptions or things that could be potentially denied because of what type of mechanical maintenance things had received. Overall, I'm happy with the service that's been provided by TotalProtect. When we've needed service, it's been taken care of. For the most part, it seems like the contractors are trying to do a good job and trying to be thorough and looking at everything. Claims submission seems to go easy as well. There's an online portal, I submit the claim and right away, I get a response back on who it's been assigned to. I usually have service within a couple of days.

On Friday, July 10th, I placed a claim with Total Protect/Cinch/Cross Country because our evaporative cooler (covered under Section 2, Item I of our plan) was shaking excessively, to the point where I was worried that it would fall off the roof. The problem was especially concerning to me not only because of the potential physical danger, but also because the weather forecast for Albuquerque for the next few days was for near-record-breaking temperatures well in excess of 100 degrees. Our evaporative cooler is our only way of cooling our home, and two children at home, one of them a newborn baby less than 1 month old.

After filing the claim and receiving my confirmation number, I called the company with whom Total Protect had contracted (All About Heating + Cooling) to schedule an appointment for them to come and diagnose/fix the problem, but the company had not yet received anything from Total Protect. We waited the entire weekend (with the near-record-breaking temperatures), never turning on our evaporative cooler, out of concern for the physical danger I mentioned above - namely, that the evaporative cooler would fall off the roof from the excessive shaking.

Finally, on Tuesday, the technician from All About Heating + Cooling was able to come to our house. He examined the evaporative cooler and determined that it would need to be replaced, citing that the source of the problem was its old age and the gradual wearing-out of the parts. The cooler had already been weakened due to age, and the excessive vibrations would only contribute to the problem, to the point where the cooler could very well fall off the roof. He called Total Protect and told them that the cooler be replaced, and that the problem was not otherwise serviceable.

However, Total Protect denied the claim and refused to service our evaporative cooler. Note what I said above – Albuquerque has experienced near-record-breaking heat in the past few days, our evaporative cooler is our only way of cooling our home, and we have a newborn baby less than 1 month old. We have been unable to run the cooler for 5 days now, due to the excessive shaking. However, despite this fact, Total Protect refused to replace the cooler, *or even to service it.* When the technician from All About Heating + Cooling insisted to Total Protect that it would need to be replaced, citing the danger of it falling off the roof due to the excessive vibrations and the general old age of the unit, he was told that that was our (the customer’s) problem, not Total Protect’s.

Thus, we remain without the ability to cool our home, with our two children (one less than 1 month old), despite the fact that we have a home warranty that covers our evaporative cooler, because Total Protect refused to replace it, ignoring the technician’s experienced recommendation that the only way to address the problem was to replace the unit.

I’ve been a TotalProtect customer since last October and would have left a much better review had this not occurred. However, their characterization of the potential danger of my evaporative cooler falling off my roof as “my problem” (despite clearly covering the unit on our policy), leaving my wife and two children burning up in the 100+ degree weather for the past 5 days, has made it quite obvious that no one in their right mind should consider them for a home warranty.

I have called customer service four times over the last two weeks and have not received a solid answer on when the part will be ordered or what the status is. I cancelled our HMS warranty. My experience was so bad. The three times that I called to try to get home service, the first time, they didn't want to assume because they said it was something that came in from before I got the warranty. The second time, the business didn't cut the problem. Also, the first time that I called, they wanted to send a person one week after I called, and I was trying to live without AC in the summer. With an asthmatic person, it's not easy. So, the person who answered me suggested to call my own service, which I did. But at the end, they didn't approve the reimbursement, so it was a total disaster. After that, my husband told me, “This service is not working, just cancel.” When somebody is asking me about the service, all the time I say, "No, just don't do that."

I used to have American Home Shield and my uncle who owns an air conditioning company said that American Home Shield does not do well with the warranty service of the air conditioners. I have three air conditioners. One of the main reasons I’ve got the home warranty is because in Texas where I live, an air conditioning unit is tied to your heat, and it's about $7,000 a unit to replace it. My uncle told me that TotalProtect was the company that I needed to go with. So I switched over eight years ago.

A couple of years ago, my refrigerator wasn't cooling well, and it was about six months of back-and-forth with calls and having them come out and do what they needed to do with different companies. It turned out that the parts were obsolete and they couldn't get them anymore. So they replaced my fridge. My fridge is one that’s built into the cabinet so they replaced the whole thing. It has to be the same form-fit-function. It was like a $9,800 refrigerator.

I have a contract with Jason's Air-Tex and they come out yearly and service my unit. When I had an air conditioning issue, I called in a claim and I requested them specifically. But this last time, I did not request them. I didn't have air conditioning for two weeks. I had to constantly call the company that they assigned to me. It was just a mess. I was really, really disappointed. The contractor also kept saying that they couldn't get the part because of COVID. I have a 9-month old baby and a 5-year old at home, and it was hot. Instead of me calling everyday, I would like the company to keep me updated. Everyday, it was something different. Then the guy came and fixed it. The next day, I got a call from the company to schedule my install. I told them that they came out yesterday and did it. They didn’t even know that I was finished. It was not TotatProtect’s fault but this contractor was horrible.

It took approximately seven days to get the water heater repaired and the air conditioning took about four days. That timing was bad, especially without the hot water. The way they approve, the representative should be able to make a call, and then Cinch could either concur or deny it right then. The water heater had to be ordered and it had to be approved by Cinch. But as soon as the installer got it, he came out on a Sunday and reconnected it so everything was great. But the airconditioning was okay because we have ceiling fans.

I just bought a new home at the top of June. Everything passed inspection, appraisal, closing, etc. Everything was in working order.

A few weeks in, both the water heater and AC malfunctioned at the same time. Although I went two weeks before having the water heater issue resolved due to poor communication between Cinch and the vendor, two weeks without water in my new home because I had to have it shut off to avoid a high water bill due to the leaking, they finally replaced my water heater.

However, they have denied my AC claim stating misuse/abuse/missing parts. No one has touched the HVAC system since I’ve owned the home! Except for the technician they provided. Everything was in working order when I bought the house and moved in. I have 4 young children and they are refusing to do the right thing to cover my AC because they’re being chintzy. During the hottest part of the year yet at that!

Very unhappy with my experiences so far. Would NOT recommend and plan to get a new warranty company as soon as I possibly can. Their Outsourced customer service is below acceptable, and they can’t even answer questions that aren’t on their scripts. When we bought our house, TotalProtect was called Countrywide then. We've been with them for over 25 years and we stayed for the fact that it's a secure thing. If something breaks, you call them and pay the deductible. They almost always come on top. Out of curiosity, I will sometimes ask the vendors what it would cost if I didn't have the warranty and it's always a lot more.

I've had no problems with every one of their vendors except for one. The guy owned his own company. I had to call him every day but he just never finished the job. By the end of it, I felt so uncomfortable with his work that I called an independent contractor to come in and check the problem. That vendor was so unreliable and this was our heat in the middle of the winter. We had space heaters in every room. But that was the only time I was ever really disappointed. TotalProtect's customer service really helped me with that.

When I submit a claim to TotalProtect, all I do is call the 800 number and they set it up. I tell the rep which needs fixing, and then they give me a number to call to set up an appointment. The same guy that fixed my heat also came to work on my air and we're buddies at this point. There were a couple of things, like the air was frozen, so he couldn't fix it right then. When we first started, they'd get somebody out either the next day or no more than two days. Then it just seemed like the last couple of years it was not as good as it used to be. The time between when we get somebody to come can take either from a week to two weeks.

We had a hot water heater that went out two years ago and it took two weeks before they could get somebody to fix it. I asked about getting somebody else to come in and do it and they told me to have the plumber call them and they would give them a work number. When the plumber tried to call, he kept being put on hold for four times. Finally, he just gave up and I went ahead and paid for the service and I tried to get my money back and I never had got it back. I wasn't too happy with that. But this last time, they came out that very day on a faucet valve that we had a problem with and they were able to take care of that right then. But if we had a heater or washer or dryer, it would at least be several days before anybody would be able to come.

I haven't really got in the house, but I know my family is there every day checking everything. I contacted my Realtor in Illinois and she was helpful. Then she reached out to the district manager and he was very helpful. It was kind of a little round and round. The first repairman suggested putting in the Freon, and thank goodness we didn't do that. The second repair people said it would have been a waste of money. I would have had to pay for about $700.

When you talk to people and you feel good about them, it's a gut instinct. Lynette was the person that I was working with, and at that point, they were talking about bringing in a third contractor to do another estimate. The district manager said, “No, let's just go with Craig,” who is from the company I had found. I had a really good feeling talking with them. Luckily, we didn't have to keep stretching out because it was an ordeal that went on for at least two weeks. At that point, it was still early, but it was already getting warm, so we needed it.

But those were two situations that to me were not right. Other than that, I have been pleased with it. Usually, when I get with the company, I stay with the company. I've been with them since I bought my home in 2008. This the only plan I've ever been with. My refrigerator when it went out, they came and they tried to fix it, they put a motor in twice. We’ve been very happy with the service. We’ve also been happy with the contractors that have been sent out. Overall, I don’t know what they can do better. They've helped us with our water heater, refrigerator, air conditioning and plumbing too.

My deductibles have gone up and that's concerning ‘cause I'm retired. Also, sometimes I have some difficulty submitting a claim. The previous time before this last time, it took 3 weeks. I was baking in heat before they could fix my air conditioner. They got everything all confused. They sent the wrong parts. It was a mess. The AC people were very nice but the people at TotalProtect did not get the parts that the people requested. But the last time was much better. It didn't take as long and I actually got a new AC unit in.

When we submitted a claim for a pool, TotalProtect didn't have anybody. But the young girl was excellent to work with. She said, “Give us 24 hours” and I did. They sent me three messages but now, I'm down to calling somebody myself and having them come out to take care of it. It's hard to wait for 24 hours because with a pool, when the motor is not working, it turns green. Previous services were there and the explanation was fine. It was something that they had to come back out for from last year’s fix.

I also had a problem with my oven. It's made in France and TotalProtect didn't have anybody who is familiar with it. But we know somebody that was familiar with it in town, so we had to go pay out of pocket and not to take a chance ‘cause this gentleman that came in said he knew nothing about it and it's a $14,000 oven. I really did not want somebody to touch it who didn't know what he was doing. TotalProtect wouldn't allow us to use our gentlemen. It's worth $600 now to pay out-of-pocket for it. They don't really have a whole lot of options for some of the higher-end items. Other than that, I’ve had no problems with them. Cinch was also very good. They sent me numerous messages on how I can go about getting somebody out and what I’ll have to do.

I had another home warranty and they were horrible. I paid for it for years through my mortgage. When I finally called them out, I called them out twice. The first call was for a toilet that had broken. They told me that the toilet was installed incorrectly when the home was built and I'd have to get it fixed before they covered it. The next was for something else that was in the house that they also gave me the same spiel for. I cancelled it and did not believe in home protection plans anymore but my friends were saying I needed one. When Ditech sent a flyer with my mortgage payment and with TotalProtect information in it, I thought of trying it. I tried it and I love it. The contractors are wonderful and quick. They did my repairs in little to no time, especially the dryer people. I was so impressed that I kept their names and business numbers because if ever I need them for something that's outside of my warranty, I would use them again.

I'm disappointed with TotalProtect. I was led to believe that the policy that I got would take care of anything if anything went wrong with my heat, my air conditioning, or electrical. Then my boiler system went out, and she knew I had a boiler system at the time. It cost me $5,000 to replace that and all I got was $1,500. That was not laid out to me. I understood that if it had been the central heat and air, it would have been a different story.

Right now, I’ve got two claims. I had one on my air conditioner that wasn't working, but it is working now. Then my dishwasher was leaking water all over the floor. I've had them in a couple of times with that issue and the other one on my dishwasher. The guy had come back twice to tell TotalProtect the same thing, that it was unfixable. So they gave me a credit. It was supposedly $319.95 and a check came to me for $73 and some change. I called in to ask what the deal was and they said that somebody sent the wrong amount to me and that something would be sent to me in 7 to 10 days. But, I've not heard a word from anybody. They haven’t been too good with me with the follow-up and making sure that things are right.

I've had a home warranty for over 13 years since we bought the house. We just keep renewing every year and we never changed. TotalProtect changed names though or it was bought by another company. The service has been up and down over the years. I've had some major services over that time and I've had some really crappy service technicians, particularly on the HVAC side. They've actually been really poor and subpar.

My last experience was about two months ago when I had to have my complete first floor heat pump and air handler unit replaced. It was basically the whole system. The guys who performed the service were really good and I didn't have any problems. The system has been working for a month now without fail. I talked to the owner or the manager of the service provider. The appearance of guys who showed up to do the work was not very professional. But they stayed here for 12 hours one day and they got the work done. Appearances can't be everything but I'm in the service industry and I think appearance means a lot. They did decent work though.

Another thing with TotalProtect is they take way too long to procure a part to get it to their service provider and get the equipment to them. I've dealt with them in the past on them getting equipment. I get that they want to research to find the cheapest available part that they could get but it's at the sacrifice of the homeowner. In the past, I had an air conditioning blower unit go out on my second floor. It was a specific air handler. TotalProtect researched and researched. But considering the make, manufacturer, and model of that air handler, the only thing that they could get was an actual manufacturer's replacement which was really expensive. I had to go round and round with them and their so-called research department in three or four weeks.

There was a lot of legwork on my part and it was way too much follow up. If I didn't follow up and push the issue, it would have dragged on and on. It seems to be that way with a lot of their stuff I've seen in the past. I get that they wanted to get the best bang for their buck and find the best part. But cheap is not always gonna be the best. But I get that they're in the money to make business too and they're not just gonna throw expensive parts at it.

On the same token, they also need to reevaluate how many times they repair a piece of equipment. We had our washing machine where the main control panel went out three times. They just kept sending something to replace the control panel at probably a couple of hundred bucks a pop where the third time around, they probably could have just bought a new washing machine. The fourth time, I said, “Forget it. Just give me a buy-out for the part.” They paid me for whatever the cost to repair the part was and I went and bought another one. They have a tendency of doing that.

I don't like the new system of TotalProtect. It's totally automated, and sometimes I have to do it three times before it goes through with what I was asking or what I need. But, once I got it through and got the work number, it was fine. It's time-consuming, and I don't think it's turned out to be all that TotalProtect thought it would be. But as far as the work that was done recently, it was fine and was taken care of.

The customer service has always been wonderful. The contractors have been good as well. However, I had a problem because I paid $125 to Texas Home Appliance. Then they said that they would be ordering a part through TotalProtect and they would let me know when it was in. Then South Texas came and said that they would be checking it out and checking the refrigerator out and that I owed them $125. I said, "No, I don't. I have already paid for it." They asked me to whom did I pay it to." I said, "To Texas Home Appliance." They said, "That's not us." They said South Texas Home and Texas Home Appliance were not one and the same. I said, "You're gonna have to talk to TotalProtect because I'm not gonna pay it twice." So, they've got it straightened out and they said I didn't have to pay.

I've had Cinch since we've been here. We've used it in the past and it worked very well. This last time, it was horrible and I am totally disappointed. The AC went out Thursday night. We had one air conditioner still running. They said the contractor would be out on Tuesday. The other air conditioning went out Friday. I called and they said they could set that up same time on Tuesday. They also said I only got coverage for one and they got that fixed but it was gonna cost me $8 more a month. That’s something else I don’t understand. If you have a house that’s designed to have two air conditioning units in it and you have a home warranty plan, it should cover what your house is built with.

Tuesday rolled around. They were supposed to come out at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon and they called around 12:30 and said they were not gonna make it. I asked why. They said the truck broke down. I asked when could they be out and they said Friday. I called them Thursday and they said they'd be there Friday between 1:00 and 5:00. I called them Friday morning to make sure and they confirmed. I waited and waited and waited and sweated ‘cause it was hot in the house. Nobody showed up and they never called. I called TotalProtect at 4:45 and talked to a lady, Alicia. She told me to give them a few minutes and I did but they never showed up.

I called back after 5:00 and talked to Alicia. She apologized. I understand people are working from home but if you’re supposed to be there by 5:00, you need to be there by 5:00, or call. Now, someone from TotalProtect did call me back Sunday after I had the work done. I told her I got the work done ‘cause we were getting nowhere fast. We were burning up and they totally didn’t want to do work.

The people they want to use were from Memphis, Tennessee. That’s about 300 miles from us. I told them I couldn't go all weekend without air in the house. My wife is diabetic and I have a four-month old grandson that was coming over. We spent 2 weeks with no air. I spent over $1,000 in addition to what I spent on their contractor. They came out and worked on one air conditioner. They said it just was low on Freon and that was it. That's the one that died while trying to cool the house. I called Rise Home Service directly because it has a 90-day warranty from them. They said I needed to call Cinch Home Services first. I got someone to do the work for it and they’re supposed to pay me back. I haven’t heard anything from them yet and I am very dissatisfied right now. The policy is supposed to renew on July 23rd and I'm gonna cancel it if I don’t hear from them. They are totally terrible. It’s a waste of my money to give them that money.

When I first started with TotalProtect, I would call and they would assign me a number. But now when I call in, a recording will ask exactly what problems I was having then they would assign me a case number. They'll leave a number for me to call and schedule an appointment. The service provider that is coming out would always call me back instead of me calling them.

The quality of the service is good. I've had one service agent they sent out here that I had some issues with that I had to call back. I had an issue with the faucet handles in my tub. The first time they replaced the faucet handles then the guy told me that they would have to come back out here and they would have to do something. It was some kind of a leak to some plumbing that's inside the wall. They had replaced it. I ended up paying them $300 some out of my pocket. The first time the handles fell off, they had to send somebody back out here. When the guy came back out here, he said that the handles were placed on the shower thing wrong. It was backwards so that fell off in the tub.

I noticed that when I had taken a shower that morning and I cut the shower off, the water that was coming out of the hot and cold faucet would not cut so I had to call them back. They told me I would have to call TotalProtect back so TotalProtect could give them another case number. I told TotalProtect not to send him back out here and send somebody else, and they did. The last company they sent out was awesome. TotalProtect is a good company. They're reliable and dependable. You don't have to keep calling them because once you call in and file a claim, it's processed right then. They get somebody out within a couple of days, 24 to 48 hours. I've had a couple of mixed reviews with the vendors who have been sent out to me but for the most part, I've been very happy. I've had more good than bad. I live in a mixed neighborhood, but some people consider it to be predominantly **. I had a couple vendors that I felt like didn't really want to service me because of that. On the other hand, I have found great vendors through TotalProtect, like for my home heater. One of the vendors did what he was supposed to. After he got started, he explained to me how and what I needed to do like making sure that in the beginning of the season I would get a maintenance checkup on my system. That was a real positive relationship. The people who did my air conditioner were wonderful too.

I've had TotalProtect's service probably over 10 years. Prior to having them, I had a service with our gas company and they offered warranties. I had a problem with my heater and it was past the warranty. The part that I needed was not covered. It was a nut or screw that cost me $300. After that, I thought there had got to be a better way to do it so that was when I started getting warranties on my house. I found out about TotalProtect through my mortgage company. It was in one of my mortgage statements. I called and put my house on it, and it's been on there ever since. It was cheaper and more economical than what I was already paying with the gas company and TotalProtect covered more products. Over the years, TotalProtect has gone up a little bit, but that's just something that happens. My sister just bought a house and I told her, “All right, after you get settled in, I'm gonna give you the number to the warranty company that you need to get for your stuff.”

As far as claims, I've generally called in in the past. It's been fairly efficient. We had kinda a rush of claims right when this pandemic started. It's kinda weird. One of the claims was for the washer that went out, and that was fine. They got somebody out here pretty quickly. The guy deemed that the washer was not repairable so he put that into TotalProtect to let them know that. Within hours the same day, they sent me an offer saying, “Okay, here's the deal. Can't be fix, willing to do one or two things. We’ll send you a new washer or we’ll give you $793 that you can go buy your own washer.” I figured by the time they sent one it would be more than likely a couple weeks so I went ahead and purchase my own and requested for them to send me a check.

The only thing I wasn't happy with it in that whole process is it took me about six to eight phone calls to receive the check. It was kinda a lot of runaround and I could never really talk to anyone higher up than just calling in and talking to an agent. I asked him if I could talk to a supervisor. There was never a supervisor available. People would call me back, but they would kinda tell me the same thing. “Oh well, we don't know what's going on. We’ll check it out. It looks like it's in process. Oh no, it's not in process. Something happened. The last person didn't do the paperwork right.” Then they say, “Well now, we got it all straightened out. We’ll get your check in two weeks.” Then that didn't happen. So then I called back. “Oh well, this happened and that.” It was excuses after excuses.

Finally one supervisor did get involved and something did happen. But each time it said it was gonna happen, they’d say, “Well, I just remember it's 10 to 15 days to process it.” I said, “Wait a minute. You should have processed it back on April 6th and now here is mid-May and you're telling me it's still 10 to 15 days. Why can't you expedite it, just because you're screwing it up on your end not my end?” They finally got it resolved. They've been good. I'd get all kinds of calls from other competitors trying to steal their business. I don’t really have any qualms about TotalProtect besides that washer thing which was the only real patch I've ever had with them.

For years, I had American Home Shield. Then for some reason, I started shopping for better pricing and better service. Total Protect came in with the option of adding and subtracting different appliances and with them, you can get one of your heat pump units serviced once or twice a year. I have two units and you're supposed to be able to get it serviced for free within your plan, so that was intriguing.

Sometimes, I have some challenges when I submit my claims with them because you cannot get somebody on the phone from time to time. But I haven't had any recent issues with calling in to get a claim submitted. Still, they need to improve their claims process. If you're not at home or have access to your computer to get to a website before the service request, then submitting a claim online is not always conducive. So, you got to call in and when you do, you get an answering service. Then, you have to call the provider or somebody else to confirm that the claim even went through. So, it's just redundant. Other than that, the techs that they have sent out have always been excellent and courteous.

My girlfriend was telling me the pros to TotalProtect from which she and her daughters had experienced so I went with them. For the most part, everybody has been very professional and timely when they show up. The last experience that I had, I was gonna call in to discuss with them. It was about my air conditioner and I had to put three pounds of freon in it. I asked if I had a leak and if there was a problem that I needed to fix. The gentleman said, "You can call us back in the fall," and no one has followed up yet.

The lack of description or clarification as to what was the reason that I needed to pay for all that additional freon was a little puzzling. My upstairs second floor air conditioner and the furnace are in the attic, so maybe they couldn't do testing but they could have at least elaborated on that to say it's the middle of the summer and they're not gonna be able to troubleshoot further until the fall. But to summarize, TotalProtect has been a good value for the money. To know that I can make a phone call and they've done the legwork on the contractors takes a little bit of the worry out of my mind. The contractors for the most part have been honest so I have recommended TotalProtect to others.

One time, we had a problem getting somebody out here. At another time, we had a washing machine claim and the process was pretty easy. They had to send somebody up here from Memphis because they didn't have anybody locally to handle it, then they had order a part which took a while to get. But other than that, the warranty company's customer service has been pretty good and we haven't had any problem with them.

My home is an older home and I knew that things would start breaking soon, so it would be good to have a warranty. I got something in the mail about Cinch Home Services and when I read it, it sounded like a good value. So far, I have not regretted going with them. Recently, my heater broke and the first tech that came out didn't do anything. He looked at it, was scared, and left my house. He said that what was wrong with it was not covered. He said it was maintenance but I told him that he didn't even do anything. So I called and complained to Cinch Home. They sent out another company who looked into it and figured out there was a part broken. Then, he fixed it. I paid my deductible to both companies but Cinch Home sent me a refund check for $100 because the problem was something that was covered,o s I shouldn't have had to pay a second charge. I really appreciated that.

Other than that, their claims process is really easy because you can submit claims either online or by phone, and I've used both. If it's a trickier thing, I'll go ahead and use the phone and call. But I'll sometimes get to a customer service rep just to make sure I'm getting what I need done. We also had to go through changing my name and everybody was so helpful at Cinch Home. So far, I've only had one interaction with the customer service rep that was rude. But I've been with them for years, made several calls, and one customer service rep being rude is pretty good. All in all, Cinch Home is a great company. I've gotten other people to sign up for their warranty as well because it's a really good value for your money.

Submitting claims is easy. We've used them for years and for multiple things, and it was great. We've recommended them to everybody. Up until recently, I've been very satisfied. But the last time we did a claim, I was not happy. They weren't very helpful. There apparently is a clause in the contract that I can't do certain things and I'm just SOL. Also, the last provider that they sent was kind of an **. I had multiple conversations with Cinch and the second to the last one was never recorded in the file. When I called back to follow up on it a few days later, it didn't exist and things completely changed. I was told that we were approved for the process and when we called to follow up, the call didn't exist. No one ever told us that the person didn't work there. It was really sketchy. They didn't handle this particular instance well. They weren't very forthcoming or upright. We're looking at changing companies.

I've had Cinch for several years. The last time, it was a water heater replacement and I ended up paying quite a lot that I didn't expect. Usually, I pay the deductible which is $100. But before that, I had to pay several hundred dollars additional on top of that, and that was unexpected on my part. If there are exceptions like that where you have to pay quite a bit of additional money, that could be more evident when you start the service. Perhaps it’s in the contract some place but I didn't realize that. I had to speak to several people and I was not terribly happy with the response. But other things over the years, the experience has been okay. There was one contractor who didn't do good work and had to come back along with his supervisor but most of the time, the contractors are really good.

TotalProtect has a good program. What they could improve upon that frustrates me when I have to deal with a warranty issue, which is very seldom, is the ability to find someone qualified to come out and do the work. For instance, if it's August and you have an issue with your AC, it would be good to be able to talk to someone on the phone without having to go higher-up, higher-up because the individuals that they contract through have not been reliable. This last time that I had to reach out to them in May, I went ahead and waited the week. They did what they needed to do and the AC is working. So, that's great. About 3 or 4 years back, it was very chaotic. I had to find the person and I don't even think I got reimbursed for paying out of my pocket.

When I had a claim recently with my water heater, it was fine. It took them a couple of days to get someone here but that was fine. However, sometimes they tell you to go online and put the claim in, but they don't tell you that if it's gas or electric, you need a different company. That kind of held things up. What they have as a product and the cost of the product are great but to get to the service for the consumer is aggravating. I'm just A-okay with it because I am needing something from them. But as for others that I have talked to that have had a different warranty company, their process seems to be a little easier than TotalProtect's. I've had TotalProtect for 10 or more years and I should have probably looked around a little more.

When I try to file a new claim and try to go through the prompts of the system, they're confusing as the devil, and it doesn't let you talk to a human being. It's not user-friendly at all. I'm extremely frustrated with it. We've had four different claims and the experience with the service provider so far has been about a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10. One of our claims was for a double oven. The bottom oven was not cooking stuff correctly, the outside burning and the inside part not cooking. The technician came out and he was overwhelmed. We're in a pretty custom house. He got his testing gizmos and heated up to what I heated it up to. He said that we just need to let it preheat longer. I asked him how long and he said that 10 minutes should work. So that was the solution set there except he said that I should have a Whirlpool tech to see it. But how would I do that? The oven is still doing what it's doing.

We had a comparable claim on the leaking upper dishwasher unit. It was the same tech that came out and it took him quite a while to get the upper unit out. He called his boss because their tech support now is just a first-line supervisor. Bottom-line was got a part and needed a new drain hose. So a week later, a new drain hose showed up and the a different package was shipped to the house so two of them showed up, which was kind of a surprise.

The same repair guy came a week later and attempted to put in the new drain hose but couldn't get the dishwasher back in to seal properly. So the solution set there was, “You need a new drawer slide. We’ll order that and we’ll be back.” So the next week, a new tech came out. It was like exploratory re-engineering, not the same person, not the same entity. He got the hose on. The door wouldn't shut and the solution set there was to have somebody else come back out, which they did. The door shut and I told the tech that I did it twice, one-time it completely shut and the second time it didn't. The tech said that we were 50-50 so he suggested that it was just a problem with it being new. He suggested for me to keep opening, shutting it and using it.

Another claim that we have pending is an issue on the swimming pool in regard to a jet pump that needs to have done and it took a while to get feedback that said they didn't have anybody in their suite of repair people to come and look at it. So the solution there was when you find somebody, have them call the 800 number before any service is done and then you go from there. But the companies that I've had don't accept third party billing.

The swimming pool cover has an automated cover on it. It goes over the water and it wasn't working right. So I called and the customer service rep that I got didn't have English as the first language skill. I spent half an hour trying to explain what a pool cover was. She went through a litany of other items and she said on a swimming pool you can have a liner where the water goes. But it wasn't that.

We have a basement bathroom and the upflow pump that pumps the water up and goes into the sewage system went bad. I tried to get ahold of somebody to find out if that was covered by the warranty. That's where the frustration came in, like instead of automated system, let me talk to somebody. If something major goes out, I will feel good that I've got something that will cover the dollars for the repair but heaven’s sake, I'm not very confident that the service provider that HMS use is gonna do a bang-up job. With things that have gone wrong in our home, solutions had not been timely nor accurate.

    - 6/30 - Cinch Home Service still did not have a purchase order create for the Service provider
    - Wednesday 7/1 - Same status as 6/30. Talked to Customer service 4 Times and the Claim was supposedly escalated to get purchase order created ASAP
    - Thursday 7/2 - Followed up and I was informed that Purchase order was being provided to Leo Underground, but it was too late for Leo Underground to pick up and install so had to wait until 7/6 to pick up the order from the parts store Goodman's.

    - Monday 7/6 - I called Leo Underground at noon to follow up. They told me that they went to pick up the part but could not retrieve it because Cinch had not created a Pick Up Number. How do they create a Purchase number without a Pick up number?? Now they cannot repair the AC. More delays caused by Cinch. I called Cinch and asked the Supervisor to escalate for a 3rd time. The supervisor had no idea why there was a purchase order without a pick up order and sent an email (because they cannot even communicate over the phone) to the purchase/Research department to fix the issue with the pick up number. It does not seem they take escalation seriously.

We never had any problems with Claim resolution in a timely manner while we had HMS. This is unacceptable for a Home Warranty company to take so long to resolve a claim and to have such a terrible administrative process that creates delays for customers. We have 2 little kids and we ara experiencing temperatures above 90 degrees in Maryland. It is an absolute nightmare.

Is a Home Warranty from Cinch worth it after such an experience?....

They were timely, but I was set out a little bit because I didn't know that there was gonna be a tremendous amount of additional fees. When you're doing a replacement, the main reason for a warranty is to have your replacements, the units and the labor taken care of. I ended up coming out of pocket $1,300 and that cost was my only dilemma because I wasn't expecting that. That was the first time I ever used the services and I didn't understand why was I paying for stuff that it took to do the installation. I reached out to them and they basically said it is what it is. Apart from that, it's going good.

I’m in a current claim with HMS right now and nobody's called me and it's been four days. This claim is new. Prior to this claim, they were great. I have no issue with people. I'm sure somebody would call me to come and take care of this problem. I guess they have to find somebody in the area, and then then people have to give me a call. I haven't heard back from somebody who's supposed to call me. But all the other claim I had in past five years have been awesome. We had a claim for a wall oven. The wall oven broke. People tried to find the parts and since the piece and parts are put in 15 years ago, they replaced the whole thing. So, everything went smoothly.

When I call HMS up and got a claim, they send me the stuff to the email, and they just tell me that the person has to call them for prior approval. I understand the waiting time and all that stuff as far as from the time you call, and by the time somebody gets to call you, and then that person has to come in, and then he does his troubleshooting, trying to see all that process. It's not something that you can just do overnight. Some claims are quicker. It could be a week or two. Some claims are longer. It could be a month or two depending on what it is. But I have the AC unit replaced, the cooktop and a lot of major items. I've gotten things done that needed to get done, and I'm really happy that so far, everything seems to be working the way it’s supposed to go.

There's always stuff going wrong in your house and your house insurance, unfortunately, doesn't pay for everything, so it’s nice to have a little backup. The first mortgage I had with Bank of America, they notified me about this company and they used to take the payment out of my escrow. This company replaced my water heater twice. Once, it was just old and worn out. The next time, I had some issues with some leaking from my shutoff valves upstairs when I redid my kitchen. I had to have a whole bunch of stuff done in my home. Insurance paid for a lot of it and then, my home insurance paid for the new water heater. I also made a claim on my air conditioner two years ago and they refused to pay to repair or replace it, which I was not happy at all about. I battled it out with the agent for a while.

It was crazy because they kept saying that it didn't need to be replaced. They wanted to charge so much for the repair though, and then they said it probably wouldn't fix it. I went back and forth and back and forth. It was hot, and I needed an air conditioner, so I finally replaced it myself. I ended up buying a new air conditioner on my own and that was the last claim I made before this year. On my most recent claim, I thought I had a problem with my sink aerator, it turned out it was just a clog in the pipe. My sink was stopped up and when the guy came out, he cleaned it out very quickly and he was gone. He was also very nice and that was great. I haven’t had any problems with that.

The last time we submitted a claim was for the washer and dryer and it was seamless.

One of the best things about them is that in all of our dealings, we have never had anyone that wasn't efficient, pleasant, and joking. And if they didn't have an answer to a question I had, they would get somebody else on the call to answer a question about how to do stuff. They are pretty incredible. Also, they have the option to use many different service providers. What we always try to do is use Sears if we can but a new company came and they were brilliant. But then after he contacted HMS Home Warranty about getting it replaced, they decided to just fix it. So I was really disappointed with that. My water heater was 23 years old and leaking. They fixed the leak temporarily but it would be dangerous to have a faulty water heater at that age because of potential larger leaks or bursting. So I was really frustrated with my experience there. When I called and complained about it, they just told me that there was nothing they could do but I could call them back when it would burst. The technician was professional and efficient. But I wished the tech would have advocated more or like made sure that it was replaced, considering it was on the third time. It takes a while for the water to heat up and it expires pretty fast. But it’s not leaking.

They sent the salesman that talked to us about new ones and he gave us an estimate that we thought was really out of the park.

I got a second opinion from a guy that was local here. He went over and gave us an estimate of what he thought was wrong and what we needed. It is now done. We had two new air conditioners and two new furnaces. He did a good job and it came in 9,000 under what the other guy wanted. So, we're really happy.
