When we decided to put a pool in, Blue Haven was the only one that was responsive to coming out and doing the work. They had gone through a management change in the middle of working through it. With the older management, we ran into some issues. But I talked to one of the major players in Blue Haven and he assured me that things were being worked out here in Fort Worth. The group that took over afterward was great.
We built this pol during COVID and during the time when you couldn't buy cars because you couldn't get chips. Any electrical equipment at the time was difficult to get ahold of. Blue Haven actually upgraded me on one thing so that we could keep moving forward. We love our pool and we try to be in it every chance we get. It's maybe a little bigger than we thought but it's wonderful.

Blue Haven gave us a better plan for the money. Also, the designer was good at designing and coming up with something creative for our backyard, which is a bit unique. She took in the yard into account to build the actual pool design rather than just trying to fit in some sort of kidney or something that's pre-formed. We started at the end of 2019. I asked if they would have any issues with supply chain materials. Blue Haven looked at me like I was crazy. And when things didn't happen, it was, “Oh, it's supplies and materials and we can't get coping," forever. And it’s, “Can’t get plaster,” forever. We tried to do everything all together to this designer. They said she made a great design but was terrible at everything else.
I understand the owner was going through a lot of stuff. But the communication was the worst I've had with any company in the world. They ghosted us in the winter of 2020. Blue Haven ended up finding someone to help project manage and communicate with customers. And she did a good job of kickstarting stuff back up. We're happy with the product and the price. But I’d never want to go through everything that we had to go through to get there. If I were to ever use Blue Haven again, it wouldn't be just for the pool. I would hire all subs and manage them myself. They made it all right at the end, but it was a nightmare experience. If you want to build a pool, you could use Blue Haven, especially if it’s a concrete pool. But know that you would have to manage all your own subs.

We allowed Blue Haven to do the initial design. Once we had seen the initial design that was proposed, the designer was more than happy to work with us to come up with the final design. We sat in his office for three additional hours getting it set up the way we wanted. They were very accommodating to us. The construction team was professional and easy to work with. We got LED lighting and UV lighting filtering. Both have been my favorite features.

I was gonna go with somebody else, but Blue Haven could get it done three months faster. Their lead time was the fastest when I wanted to do it. Also, they communicated well. But they're too expensive. Also, I'm not crazy about some of the things in the pool and how the tiles look. Other than that, it's a nice, decent job.

Blue Haven's designer did well. I got all the help I needed with my pool plan. But the contractor they used to dig the hole cracked my concrete. Blue Haven refused to fix it. I had paid about $7,000 to have all that concrete work done and now it's ruined. Also, I was pretty clear when I said, “Okay. I want a pool, but I need a pool for a lazy person," and so he recommended this different filter that I paid extra for. However, the kinks hadn't been worked out on it yet. It ended up taking a ** on me and I had to get another one. My pool was all eaten up with algae because of that pump for a while. Other than that, I recommend one of the newer versions of that pump. Try Blue Haven out and see what they say.

We built the pool during COVID and the only issue we encountered was when Blue Haven was ordering all the parts. There were a lot of slowdowns and a lot of stuff going on. I talked to the top guy there and he said he had been doing this for 20 years and never seen orders backed up. But it was great dealing with the construction team. The crew was diligent and completed on time.

We did everything that Garth, the designer, designed. Everything went perfectly. The crew did a great job. The overall foreman was outstanding. I had his personal phone number and I called for any questions, and he got it fixed. Everything's good. Blue Haven started construction in August and the first time that heated the pool and did it was Christmas Day. So, it was quick. I had an inground liner pool and they had to demo it out. Now, that I've got this pool, the maintenance is a lot less and I have a lot better filter system. I wanted less maintenance and something that I can do without having to call a pool guy all the time. I've had nothing but great stuff going on. I love the pool.

We had our pool built in the middle of COVID so we knew there were supply shortages and labor issues. The construction took almost five months. There were manufacture defects in the stones that we had ordered and waiting for the new pieces to come in took a while. So, we went at least six weeks with several stones missing from the waterfall wall. Then, scheduling for the last bits of cleaning, concrete pressure washing, the sealing of the stones around the pool, the final pressure washing and cleaning of all the tiles and things of that nature took a while. A lot of it was weather-related since our pool was done in December. But that wasn't Blue Haven’s fault.
One irritating thing was that the drainage pipe from the pool was run directly across the yard to the base of one of my wooden fence posts so that got rotted out and I had to replace it with a metal one. It was frustrating and I wish they would have considered that when they had the contractor lay the pipe. I had no idea that that was where they were going to put that overflow. Still, Blue Haven is great. The whole team is like a family and friend operation. They're all very responsive and kind. The pool transformed our backyard into a very usable, family-oriented space that we truly enjoy. It has a three-tier wall with a single waterfall in the middle and a tanning ledge on one end with two L-shaped benches on the corners of the deep end of the pool. Then, we had about a thousand square feet of concrete poured around the house.

Our pool is a rectangle. It has a spa, waterfall and bubblers. We have some issues, but they're working to fix them.

Blue Haven's reps were communicating even in the initial phase of getting out to quote the job and how long everything would take. And we weren't getting good communication from anybody else. So, the process was pretty clear as far as the expectations in how everything would go. We went back and forth with a couple of different iterations of defining what shape we wanted, how big we wanted the pool to be, and where we wanted things moved around. So, it was free for us to customize it and as well as in making recommendations along the way.
While the crews were here, they were working long hours and on Saturdays too. So, they were getting after it. Everything was fair and done like we agreed upon and the entire finished product is really good. We had some flagstone, existing exterior kitchen and patio, and they tied everything in seamlessly in what we already had out there. We also have a tanning ledge and we have colored lights. And we have three fountains on top of a raised stacked stone waterfall on one end. It's a free form pool with an irregular shape similar to kidney. We have the remote for the fountains and the lights turn on at different times and turn off. We have a heater, too. It's not smart, though. I go out there and turn it on and off.

It was a good experience with Blue Haven. With the financing team, it was easy and fairly straightforward. I worked with their designer. We came out and looked at the space. We had a very small backyard, so we were wanting to optimize as big of a pool as we could get. But then we also have easements and utility boxes. There are certain regulations, our pool wall couldn't be within this many feet and they were very helpful with making sure that we were meeting the building code and following all rules, and then working with my HOA.
Our pool has a panel on the back and it has this little smart pad that you can change everything and it gives you the temperature. It's got scheduled on and off time for the filter. We got a waterfall and LED lights, too. They managed the whole project and kept us up-to-date on everything as we went. They helped us with some roadblocks. They were very knowledgeable and knew what they were doing. I was very pleased with the whole process. I have recommended them to at least two other neighbors that are also now having pools put in.

My design consultant was Brandon. He came in and he was very professional. He brought his project manager at the time. Chris was very professional and flexible. He took my vision and put it on paper and gave me some ideas that I wasn't thinking at the time and made it better. He provided a great design. It was exactly what I had in mind. So he was very good. I was able to add a spa right before they were about to start the project. Chris was able to make that happen without any issues. The pool came out a lot better than I thought, especially the back wall with the waterfalls, the way that it’s raised and you can see it from the house. It was just like I envisioned it. So he took my suggestions to heart and tried to stay within those boundaries, respecting what I wanted. It all came perfect without any issues.
Chris was the guy that I went to for anything. He was weekly stopping at my house to make sure that everything was according to plan and to see if there were any issues that were arising. He was heavily engaged throughout the entire process on a weekly basis on every single phase. So that kept me at peace because I knew that if something was wrong, Chris was gonna find it sooner rather than later. He also answered all my questions as I had them throughout the week in the processes. So that was a huge part of relief, knowing that everything went according to plan and there were no issues going. The final product was great.

The construction crew was receptive if we had any issues. They had to go around our yard and make some routes. But they kind of kept to the routes that were there, so they didn't destroy our yard too bad. I would highly recommend Blue Haven to anybody.

Blue Haven's pricing was not bad and the salesman was great. He knew what he was doing and he was the one that designed the pool. But then he left so we just got thrown out to the wolves. I didn't know who to contact, who was going to call, and who was responsible for anything. There was passing the buck and a lot of pointing fingers. Then during the construction, most of the crew didn't have a drawing of even the plan of the pool. Most of them just said they were told to go do the job and I had to watch everything they did. I had to double check everything and I had a constant headache. The whole process took seven months, from start to finish, and in the end, it's a fine pool. But they didn't put on the spotting tile on the steps like they told me they would and they didn't bring out a lot of the pool equipment when they were supposed to to clean the pool. Then, they almost put the wrong plaster on it but we caught it in time.

The designer was super professional, very friendly and customer-service-oriented and did a great layout. We went with the spa and then water feature. There were different crews for every job but they were always friendly. The supervisor let us know what he was doing. We had to request an additional cleaning but they took care of that.
But it seems that with their phone system, everything goes to construction no matter what option you hit. It doesn't direct to the person that I select. I tried to select financing but my call is still with the construction guy.

The designer was very knowledgeable. We walked the property together and laid out what I was looking for. He made some suggestions. There were a couple of things that I knew I wanted right away, like a sun shelf. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go 5 feet or 6 feet for the deep end, and he gave me some good guidance on the price difference between the two. We went with 5 feet, and we’re delighted we did. It’s perfectly adequate. 6 feet would not have been any added enjoyment. He also helped me layout and design a water feature at the far end of the pool. He was very helpful on finalizing the elements that I wanted and arranging them. We have a remote control so that helps us check the temperature and the filter and make adjustments to settings and lighting.

My cousin had had a pool put in by Blue Haven and I loved the way that it looked. When we met with the people, we liked them. The designer was very thorough. He answered any questions that we had and got back to us after we had talked quickly. We love our pool. We've recommended three people to use the company. Every time we've ever had an issue, they always come out within a week or two and fixed anything that we have had any struggle with. We have had several different times where we have had some stains on our plaster, and they served out that work that they have come out every time we've asked them to. They've done an acid wash twice to try to get it fixed, and now, the company who did the plaster is going to replaster it in October free of charge.

Blue Haven’s designer was wonderful. We were very involved in the design but she was able to bring it to life visually, which helped us make even additional decisions. She was very responsive. Everybody was asking for a pool and she was completely overwhelmed. But she got the design and the iterations back to us quickly. She was very timely. But having to go through the office to figure out scheduling and timing was difficult for us. There was supposedly a project manager assigned to the project that we never ever heard from and that was very frustrating. Once they sent a sub team out here and a Blue Haven person, that person ended up being the one that I communicated with throughout the rest of the process. But that was not the actual project manager that I was assigned. So, it was very strange.
I would recommend Blue Haven because in the end, what we got is amazing and we love it so much. We have water features, and the vacuum was included and I love it. We're very happy with the end product. There was a bit of heartache getting there but the subs were all highly qualified, great individuals. It was just the scheduling was hair-pulling. Blue Haven was terrible but now in hindsight, I understand.
The front office was a mess for a while but they changed some routing of responsibilities to different people, so it was easier to communicate. It was rough in the beginning but I would recommend Blue Haven. I did not love though that I was required to give them my final payment when the entire project was yet to be completed. There were some little things they had to come and fix and normal stuff that happens. I didn't want to hold it up but there was something wrong with the electrical panel and it took a while for someone to come fix it. So, it wasn't working to 100% but they said they needed their money. So that made me a little bit unhappy.

I made the unfortunate choice of picking this company to install in the ground Gunite pool in my backyard. This is been nothing but one big headache after another. They started in December 2020 and to this day July 2022 I’m still going back-and-forth with them about the pool leaking, a broken light and issues that have been broken when they do finally show up to look at the leak. Their evaluation of the leak is to come out and do a bucket test which they’ve done. Three of them already was just causes me to have to put more water back into the pool on my dime. Now they’re saying they wanna dig up my yard to find leak going to the waterfall instead of pressure testing the line or actually getting somebody out there that is an actual plumber. They can look at everything and fix the leak once and for all. This has been a very frustrating process every step of the way.

Blue Haven's sales presentation was more thorough and complete than the other companies I called. I liked that the rep listened. Given our backyard, we wanted to go with a simple design. And that seemed to be his style as well so that was nice. I never felt any pressure to upsell anything. There were some areas where we were open to upgrades, but he didn't seem to know a lot about what was available as far as various systems. I was looking for more of an educational piece to be part of the conversation. We've never built a pool before. So, I felt that was missing a bit. But overall, it was good. And we felt comfortable by name.
However, despite multiple requests from the beginning, there was zero construction schedule even in draft form. Construction changes. It moves. But zero construction schedule, zero accountability, a lot of no-shows. It seemed like they're very low, not only just on Blue Haven staff, but their sub necessarily aren't reliable. Once they showed up, they were great and they got the job done, and nothing's leaking. It's good. I'm sure their technical work was good. But the communication and coordination was terrible.
We love the pool. That's what we wanted. We have a functioning pool that works, and it’s 105 degrees. But I should have pushed harder on the pool contract. I should have been willing to walk away from the contract when they wouldn't give me a construction schedule and kept having no-shows and delays, and could not commit. They blew past their contractual completion date with no liquidated damages. They were like, “That's just the way it is,” attitude. And that was unacceptable.

The experience with the designer was good. The manager was responsive but there were a lot of delays. It was probably too much careful work. Also, there was some cement and piles of little droppings that they didn't fix after they were done. They could have cleaned up a little bit more. Additionally, their service department wasn't too friendly afterwards when we had a issue with some black mold that we got into almost right away, and started leaving markings at the bottom of the pool. We tried calling their service people for advice or for help, and they just said it was obviously pool owner error and we were on our own. So I won't lean towards them for pool service. But other than that, they're pretty good. We're happy with the pool.

Blue Haven's reps were communicative. The financing went very smooth. The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that they were slow. Because we have neighbors that have purchased pools, and they got theirs done in three months, versus ours which was six months. The problem is that we are still in a pandemic. Because back then, it was still new. Other than that, I love the pool. It’s designed well. Blue Haven did a good job, inside and out of it.

From the very minute I spoke to Ray ** on the phone inquiring about Blue Haven Pools & Spas(San Antonio), I was met with a sincere interest in finding out what exactly we were wanting in a pool. Ray came over that week and met with us, and got a feel of what my husband and I were thinking of. We both had our own idea of what we wanted and Ray helped us formulate a great design. He explained the process in detail with us, and was gracious to hear all of our concerns and ideas. Ray was also very knowledgeable and took the time to listen to our needs. As the designer he explained the steps to expect and the people that would be involved with the planning and scheduling. Ray kept his promise that he would still be available to us if we had any questions or concerns. Jon our layout guy was very professional and explained the next step to expect. He answered our questions and left his card in case we needed anything else.
Then came our superintendent Jorge **, this man has a huge heart and we felt immediately that our best interest was protected by Jorge. He went over what to expect and gave us an idea who was next in line to work on our project. Javier ** (another superintendent) stopped by to introduce himself and let us know if by some reason Jorge was unavailable he would step in to assist. Javier and Jorge are the perfect example of teamwork and coordination. Both these guys are true professionals and knowledgeable. The work ethic that Jorge, Javier, Ray and the many contractors that came through was exemplary.
I highly recommend this company for your pool needs. What we thought would be a stressful experience from reading reviews on Google I can honestly state that our experience with Blue Haven Pools was beyond what we could have imagined. Timing and planning is everything and I believe if you take the time to communicate exactly what your expectations are you will not be disappointed. Communication was key and we are very thankful to Ray & Jorge for that. Thank you to the staff of professionals that helped make our dream come true. Your hard work and dedication to our project is what dreams and hopes are made of!!!

The designer did everything I wanted. But then when it went to construction, it was nothing but problems. There were five different crews and hardly any of them spoke English, and nobody gave me a direct answer. The cool deck that covers our concrete around the pole is coming up in little pieces. They keep saying they're gonna send somebody to fix it. But they've never sent somebody to fix it, so I've never paid the last remaining money. They turned me over for collection, and I called them up and said, "Why are you turning me over for collection when you haven't finished the job?" Working with the pool designer was great but it wasn’t a very pleasant experience with the crew. Blue Haven fired our foreman and nothing happened on our pool for over two weeks and nobody let us know that until the new foreman showed up. Blue Haven sold us a remote pool control system to operate the pump from our phone and it still does not work. And their answer is they don’t know and that they’ve sold a lot of them. I'm waiting on the rest of the pavers to sink before I call them out. There's a pallet of pavers sitting in my front yard that they were supposed to come pick up. They never did. They had to redo the retaining wall about 30 feet and when they did, they did not finish the outside of it the way it was supposed to be, and nobody has come look at that in about four months. We made several changes while they were in the middle of building the pool. They met them. We had add-ons, and they changed it. During the pandemic, there were a lot of things that were stuck at the ports, and they did everything they could to get parts in for me and my husband as soon as they were able to. I didn’t realize that the way the temperature works here, it gets hot, but it cools down at night. It takes the water a long time to really get warm enough to use. So I should have gotten a heater. I wish I had a little more information back then. One more thing is that the tile on my waterfall on the wall is leaking from the back. Blue Haven had the best software of all the pool companies here and that gave us a good look at what we were purchasing. We did a hot tub waterfall into the pool with deck jets, with an LED bubbler and a tanning ledge. It took a little longer than expected, but the job the construction team did was great. It was during COVID, so there was a big issue with supplies and the biggest thing we were waiting on was the pavers for the deck. It took five months.
Blue Haven is the best around. It’s by far better than any of the companies around here. Afterwards, I had a couple of warranty work things, and they came right out and fixed it, and more than helpful, and showed me everything I needed to know to take care of things myself in the future. Everything was great. I also have a wireless controller in the house that I can start the hot tub, the pool, all the lights in the fountains and waterfall, from inside the house. That’s really great too.

The construction folks did a hell of a job and I'm happy. However, when people ask me about Blue Haven, I say things went very well with the construction, but aftercare is horrible. I'd give them an F. Every time they come out, if it's not warranty-covered, then they're going to charge a $300 trip charge plus so much an hour, and this was before the gas prices went up. There are people that will close the pool for a third of what they're charging, but they don't care. If they're not making that money, they really don't want to come out. I made one phone call and I was not very happy with that phone call.
They came out and fixed some things that were wrong. The stuff was warrantied, but the lady on the phone that was taking the initial information was giving me the impression she did not want to send people out because they're unable to charge that trip charge and they can't charge me by the hour. I said, "Yeah, I'll find somebody else."

I understood that and that was fine. But then, there was a lot of turnaround with the company itself. They lost people and they had to bring in new people. So there was a lot of halt to the process.
The project has been finished but I'm still waiting for the final review of the pool install. I sent some pictures of some concern areas where the filler between the coping is missing. It's not flushed. It digs in the concrete between the tile. Also, I was concerned also about the placement of the jacuzzi jets. They're rather low. So I sent them that as well. They had to reschedule the final review two months ago because the head guy had COVID but I have yet to hear from them after that. But I love everything else.

Our superintendent changed midway through the project and we weren't informed about that. The person who took over was bad at communicating. Our product was delayed multiple times kind of what seemed like because of this, so we kept having to reach out to the owner of the company instead of to our superintendent because he wouldn't respond to any of our contact. We had to call them back multiple times to finish the project because they kept forgetting to finish parts of it. It was months later after to get things finished. They started in early May but they didn't complete everything until almost November. Their communication needs to be improved and they need to completely finish the job before deciding that they didn't need to pay attention to it anymore. I'm still in contact with Blue Haven because the pool has settled some and we have cracking in it. We're still not satisfied.

We are sorry you are so frustrated with your local office. During 2020, 2021, and even now to some extent, the Pandemic created extraordinary challenges for thousands of businesses across the country, including pool builders. The repercussions impeded the speed of construction; therefore, work did not proceed as smoothly or as quickly as we all have would have liked. However, every matter related to your project was addressed, and your pool was completed per contract. In addition, a number of credits and thousands of dollars in complimentary items were provided to you. As you have noted, the office is under new management. The new GM began 4 weeks ago—after your pool was completed; he assumed the position from an individual who remains on the local team (and who was always intended to serve only in an interim capacity). Local staff has consistently responded to your concerns with clear, detailed explanations. Although you have a beautiful pool and have received everything to which you are entitled—plus much more—we understand that you remain extremely dissatisfied.

The pool is the perfect size for our family. I have a family of four with two daughters, and I can't keep them out of it, which is great. So it's real functional. Blue Haven also put a slide in for us. My wife loves a tanning ledge and the girls got plenty of space. It's perfectly what we wanted. They did a great job. They had three different crews to work on the pool and the crew heads that we worked with were all very professional. They were extremely efficient from start to finish. Alan, the General Manager, was one of the best people I've ever met. If I've ever got a question for him, he got right on it. So he was very responsive. If there were any problems, he made them right. He's a great General Manager.
Their salesman, Tyler, was the first one that came out. He was the one that came up with the concept and the layout and how that would look back there. So he did a great job of laying it out initially. The only downside was that our yard was torn up for about 12 weeks. But outside of that, I have zero complaints. Blue Haven was very efficient. They did what they said they were going to do. So if anybody in this area asked me about Blue Haven or if they're building the pool, I'd absolutely recommend them.

I had Blue Haven Pools start to do my pool in May 2020 and finish in September 2020 and since the start I had leak in my pool, but I thought it was due to evaporation. Called them before the one-year warranty ended and they sent someone out to fix it. I had issues with my pavers where the baby fence was installed but they never came out to fix it and also issues with the screen door and roof they installed is leaking and never came out to fix it. Now a little bit less than year and a half later after blue haven installed my pool, and my pool is leaking again and where my tube goes in from my vacuum is up twisted. Also, the guy that they sent me out for pool school does not want to do anything he just want to be as quick as possible and half the stuff he told me were incorrect and also they forgot to install my umbrella collar.
I had verbally agreed with the guy that sold me the pool to not have planters in the back. I just wanted all pavers but he failed to do that so they can save money. Furthermore the walkway outside the pool that they built for me cracked and I expressed it but they never showed up to fix it. When you sell a pool to a customer you recommend the best stuff which they did not, not wait for the customer to only request it. Not the best experience.

I liked what Blue Haven had to offer. And it didn't feel like they were trying to oversell me. They just laid out a lot of options. And the packages that were offered were superior to the other companies. They weren't the cheapest. They weren't the most expensive. But their quality seemed to be the highest. My wife did more of the idea of stuff, but I can vouch for her that we had some plans. And they really helped magnify them into something a lot more beautiful than we would have gotten had we done it ourselves. For instance, where we put the landscape, where we put the pool itself, they advised us to put it in the back of our property rather than the front so that in winter time we don't look outside at a pool cover, which was nice, because we have a beautiful landscape behind our house. We have to walk a bit, but it is nice. It’s at the back in the corner of our property.
They had people that helped with the landscape and the fencing. And I felt comfortable working with them. They got it done. I never pushed them to get it done because I know how difficult things were in terms of COVID and supply chain. They were very responsive. And they hooked us up with people for pool cover, and with people to help take care of that. They also handled all the permits. In the past, with other projects, it became cumbersome. They just seemed to know what they were doing.
My wife and I both work a lot. We don't wanna come home and take care of the pool for hours. So, it's a very low maintenance option too, which was nice. It's salt water. I felt they had the best package and for the price, the least amount of effort on our part to, instead of working on a pool, we’re swimming in it. And that’s how it all worked out. So, we were very happy. Know what you're gonna use your pool for and let Blue Haven know what you're looking for. They can help make that pool look like what you want. And you can use it for what you wanna use it for.

Blue Haven wasn't the lowest priced but I picked them because they were one of the biggest dealers and they had access to equipment and crews. Some of the other places were bogged down with some of the supply chain issues. My designer was Allan and he's an old guy like me. He was old school and does pencil and paper. But he's the one who had the vision for my pool. As soon as he said, “Why don't you do this and this and this?” That was exactly what I wanted to do. I had some tight constraints in my space in my yard and he drew up a plan and that was what we executed. I brought Sylvan out here and I showed their guy Allan’s drawing for him to understand what I was talking about. He did a 3D thing but that didn’t mean anything. I’m more of an engineering type so I’m fine with the hand drawings.
Overall, it was a good experience. The process started sometime around the 5th of June and the 23rd of December was when I put water in it. I got top-of-the-line everything. I really liked the OmniLogic control that they sold me. That’s working really well. I'm going to do my own pool maintenance because I'm able to do that. The project manager did a great job. He was a little young guy but he stayed right on top of everything. The concrete guys, the rebar guys, and the plumbing guys knew what they were doing and didn't mess around. They came in and did the job effectively and to high standards. I only had one issue on the corner. When they were doing the gunite, the form broke loose and came out. Half of my pool’s out of the ground and they had to chisel the wall back in order to get the stone on the face. That took them about an extra half a day and they fixed it.
I had the ozone unit that I bought and it came on but there was something wrong with it. It's a different product and it's a top-of-the-line unit. I called the factory and they said, “You need to put in a request to have it replaced. We'll send you a new one.” I told them that Blue Haven bought it. I talked to the control guy at Blue Haven and he said, "I’ll take your word for it.” They found out that I knew about as much as they did as far as electronics and controls. They ordered a new one and put it in. It works great.
That was one of the things I also heard about Blue Haven that they would come back and take care of problems. They also offered me a three-month pool service as part of the contract. They would get the water chemicals squared away and they've added all the chemicals. I got a salt pool and stabilized everything. It's given me a chance to work with the guy that comes out here every week and I've read all the books, bought the instrument, and the test kits so I'm ready to go.

Blue Haven was a good company. From the outset, meeting Dominic, their sales lead who was here, went smoothly, down to actually having them break ground last year which was a hard time given COVID. A lot of the supply chain affected the timing of anything around gun it, being shot, rebar, the metal, the plumbing, the electrical stuff. So, they were able to get it through the process expeditiously. They're a good group to work with. They've been upfront with everything when I've called them. For scheduling, they were pretty much on plan, which was basically unheard of given the environment from a year ago.
Dominic made sure all his contractors and employees were first-rate. So anyone who came over, they couldn't have been nicer. They were always upfront. And that helped us, because at the end of the day, we didn't want to be taken. That's why we moved away from the newbies. Less than 10 years, my wife and I weren't going to touch. While Blue Haven has been around since the 60s.
My wife and I sat down and made sure it was what would work best on the piece of property. But also, for our two younger children. So, Blue Haven built it to our specs. So, we like everything about it. Even down to the paperwork, they’re very formal. And they want to file that we had a formal CO issued from our town. So it's not like they built the pool and we never heard from them again. And they’ve enclosed the paperwork to make sure everything is above board for filing. Overall, really pleasant experience with Blue Haven. We're a happy customer.

We like the pool. We have a couple of things that we're still waiting on, like the light fixtures popped off. We were gonna try to put them back on but we've asked the supervisor to send someone out to fix that. But they've taken care of most of the issues. It took a while for them to come out and cut the foam that they put between the coping and the decking but we got it fixed.
Also, we had an issue with the pool vacuum. Initially, the robotic one was the one we were going to go with but I was cutting back costs and I said I'll buy one later. Then, once we filled up our pool, the pool pump wasn't working. Somebody came out and said they got to change the pump and they need to vacuum. I told them I don't have one and they recommended one of the pressure ones. The first and second techs said that and they kept boasting about this one pressure vacuum that the company sells. So I went ahead and purchased that one. But when the third technician came out here, I said that the cleaner is not cleaning anything. It looked just like it did before we turned it on and it had been on for hours. The tech said I was not piped for a pressure cleaner.
I called Blue Haven and said I'd return the vacuum and that I need to get the robotic one. I also told them they sold me a vacuum that doesn't work with my pool. I would have to spend thousands of dollars to get it piped. They said they'd talk to the higher ups and get back to me. They almost made it sound like they're doing me a favor. When the technician came out to give us the robotic vacuum, he said we're the second swap they were doing that week.
Also, the first technician was a no-show and then he got mad at me on the phone. Then, he showed up and he said he couldn't find his glasses and he had to wear his sister's. That's not my fault. There's a window of time that they told me he would show up and he didn't show up. And they don’t contact me the next day. That's not cool. I'm very patient but I was literally hanging out at my house because they said they were coming. Other than that, our guy was really good. He was always polite and respectful. Even with the issues, he really tried. Also, the third technician, Josh, responded when I texted him really late and told me exactly what to do when we were having a freeze and I didn't know what to do.

The Blue Haven and the financing people were nice. But just at the beginning, it was a little bit confusing. The same financial establishment gets used for student loans. I was trying to explain to them that I'm not a student and that happened to me three times because everybody calls in to one central number. But once we got that ironed out, it was fairly smooth.
Rain was starting to cave in my pool at first before the concrete set in. But the construction team was good. They stayed within my budget. One nice thing was that when they had the electrician there, the electrician wanted to charge me an extra $650. The owner picked the thing up for me. They also had another guy there. Also, the guy that cut off the sprinkler overcharged me and I would not recommend him to anybody. But that was not Blue Haven’s fault. They trusted him, yet, he let both of us down. Nonetheless, we got a beautiful pool with the simplicity that we wanted. We hope to get a lot of use out of it.

We used Blue Haven for the installation of the pool and Dominic, the crew chief, worked well with the architect, the mason, and the people that were supplying the stone and the coping. He was really an integral part of the team. One of the things we liked was that he was very knowledgeable in areas beyond the scope of the pool itself. When it came time for decision-making on other areas related to the pool, even though it wasn't his domain and it wasn't his expertise, he was involved. He gave us good advice and gave us guidance and we found him very easy to work with.
For the most part, we were on time and on schedule. There were supply chain issues, which were not his fault. Sometimes, if we needed a part to get to the next phase, it's a little challenging during COVID to try and build a pool. Also, they overscheduled a little bit and they got tied up. They got so many jobs going on at the same time. We finished four weeks after what we had originally anticipated. But in terms of standing by, the installation, and finishing up, they did everything that they said that they were going to do. They were reliable and responsible. We're very happy with the end result.

I was very impressed with Zach of Blue haven because he listened to us. He sat down at my kitchen table and worked everything up. Within a couple of hours, we had in our hand our quote and exactly what it involved. We got everything laid out there. With the other companies we talked with, they told us, “Okay, you get this but then everything else is an upgrade.”
Our neighbors, Mike and Nora, lived up the street from us and they had nothing but good things to say about Blue Haven. I read all the first time pool owner group things and heard how the members' communication with their pool builder was horrible. When we started out, I kept commenting on how we appreciated the communication with Blue Haven and how we didn't have any problems that involved them.
The only problem we had was with one of their subcontractors. They stole some fence posts that we had sitting next to our property that was going to go back up after the retaining wall was put in. I went out there to take stock on how many there were and they were gone. We had just installed cameras and I looked at the footage. I watched one of the concrete guys hauling the fence posts all up. That was on a Friday afternoon. Blue Haven handled the matter immediately and they were appalled with what happened. On Monday morning, those fence posts were redelivered back to our house by the people who took them.
Overall, we're very pleased with our pool. We wanted three waterfalls on the big wall at the back. We put a spa in and a bubbler. We had umbrella holes put in in four places and we also used Blue haven's sister company, Havenscapes to do all of our landscaping. We had a leak around the pool equipment. I noticed It was wet at one point and Blue haven sent someone out immediately and took care of it. We haven't had any problems since.

When we got there at Blue Haven, Christopher explained to me what was going on, the reasoning that they had the bad reviews, and the steps that they were taking to correct what was going on. So, after speaking with him, he put me at ease and let me know that they replaced the whole office that was there originally, the reason for the complaints and issues that they were having. Everything went fine with the build. They finished on time as promised. I love the pool. I recommended Blue Haven to a neighbor friend of ours, and they had a pool installed.
The only complaint I have is communication with them. During the build process, someone was supposed to come out to work. It was 3:00 in the afternoon, no one showed. So, I had to call, find out what was going on. He said, "Oh, they're not gonna come till tomorrow." All I asked was what I explained from the start. Communication is 100% everything to me. And if you tell me you would be there, then I expect you to be there. If you can't make it, then give me a call. It's common courtesy. And there were a couple of times when that didn't happen. We talked about it and I expressed to them what was going on and why I felt the way I did. But that was taken care of. We also had an issue with our water feature and they came out and fixed that.
We were supposed to get umbrella holders in the pool. And when they came I noticed that there were no holes for the umbrella. Miss Jennifer explained to me that they can be drilled in even after but at that point, I requested a refund. Blue Haven sent the $303 corporate check and the check bounced. Miss Jennifer claimed something about the checks were written and somebody didn't double-check this or that and it just didn't get paid. So, they were supposed to have sent another check. So, I'm a little worried about depositing that because it disrupts my account when I deposit a credit to the money. I opened up my bank account and I'd say, "Hey, where'd that $303 go?" And when I called to explain to them, she wanted me to call my bank and talk to them. I said, "Hey, it's your bank you need to talk to. You can talk to my bank all you want, but the check was written on your account. So, my bank is not gonna help your situation."
We also were supposed to get a UV equipment for the pool. After the pool was complete, I happened to look and I was, "Hey, where's the UV light?" And at no point did anyone tell me, "Hey, the UV light is on backorder." So, went three months into the build, they completed the build, there was no UV light, and they didn't think to mention to me that the UV equipment I paid for was on backorder. So, I said, "Okay. If I wouldn't have asked about it, would you have told me?" And there lies the question. They can't say because that didn't happen.
They were supposed to check on the status and they couldn't give an update on when it may come in, if it may come in, how long it will come in. During the build, if they would say, "Hey, because of what happened last year, there's still some shortage in the supply." But when we were planning everything, there were no shortages. They had everything, this and that.
There was another instance and they came out during the dig and they knocked our fence down. When I called, they said, "Oh, check your contract. They knock it down, you got to take care of it." "Okay, fine. No problem." But our pool equipment was supposed to be inside of our yard and they put them outside of the yard in-between the two houses. The guy said, "No, they told me this morning." So, they dug up in-between the two houses unnecessarily. Once I called the office, the next day they came, they moved it back inside. So now, I have to pay for my neighbor's yard that they tore up. And I didn't call them because the first thing in my head is they would say, "Oh, check your contract. Yeah, we made a mistake. But guess what? You have to take care of it." So now, I have here my neighbor's yard and his sprinkler system because they just came and tore the stuff up by mistake.
The whole mishap with the equipment, placement, and destruction of my neighbor's yard that I have to pay for now out of my pocket left a bad taste. Why are we held liable for damages done to property when you were the one that made a mistake. Check with other companies. And if other companies don't have that same process, deal with them and not Blue Haven.

We sat down and said, "Look, here's what we're looking for. Here's the space we got to put it in. We wouldn't anything deep. No diving boards, no slides. More of a sport pool just for volleyball and basketball, something for kids and stuff like that." Randy over at Blue Haven just popped up a couple of presentations that he had ready and said, "Here's what I can do and here's the size." I said, "Can you shrink it a bit and put it off of there and two on the end." And he designed it out the way we wanted it. It was a very simple process.
I never felt I was pressured into overspending or buying anything that we didn't need. I was more asking the questions of, "Hey, what about a heater? What about this? What about that?" And they just said, "Here's your three options." Paul who runs a place over there is an awesome and very attentive guy. If I had an issue, he was Johnny-on-the-spot. I would put him up there at the top of the list, second to none kind of a deal. I was very impressed with the way they approached us. And even their follow-up and customer service stuff has been awesome.
They put the pool in the same time they were building the house. So, those two had to go hand in hand. They couldn't get to grade until the outside of the house got the grade. And when they did, they started with the digging and got the size of it all right. Four months. I was leery going into the process. But those guys over there made me feel extremely comfortable about structure, putting it in place, the design of it, negative edge wall placing over the lake. They had everything in mind and reassured me that this was the right way to do it. So, I felt comfortable going through the process with them every step of the way.

The only bad thing that I've heard is I had a friend in Tyler who was building a pool and had called Blue Haven asking for an estimate and a design but they never called her back. I felt bad because our experience with Blue Haven is good and I recommended them. But she did not have a good experience with them. One other thing that is disappointing, we used to have our pool cleaned by them on Friday, which was very good for us because we have help with our yard. So, they would come after the guys mowed the lawn and the pool was cleaned for a week. But they changed our day. So, we only have one day that the pool's cleaned now before the guys come and help us with our yard.
When we asked to go back to our Friday schedule, there was no joy. It worked out nicely and we've had it that way for years and years. Juan used to clean our pool and he did a wonderful job. But he was so good at it and he was also good with mechanics that he started repairing pools. So, they had somebody else take over the cleaning. When that happened, Blue Haven changed our schedule. Other than that, Paul has always done a good job and his people continue to do well by us. I would recommend Blue Haven Pools & Spas.

I was looking for pool recommendations. I called five different pool companies to come out and give me estimates. Blue Haven is located in the city that I work in and they were the only ones that actually came to my house and did all the work. The others told me if I wasn't going to spend a certain dollar amount, they wouldn't come out. Others made me send them all the paperwork, scan all the materials then they never sent me quotes back. Others made an appointment, confirmed the appointment, and never showed up. Blue Haven was one of two companies I was able to get a quote from. I gave them my budget, told them what I wanted, and they stuck to my budget.
The designer was fantastic. I had an idea of what I thought the pool was going to look like and he listened to my idea. He also made some recommendations that were actually better. He walked me through things step by step. The designer was the person who came and did my pool opening and spent hours at my house. He let me videotape the entire thing and I still refer back to the videos today.
The crew was great. They would come in, do their work, and weren't disruptive. They had to take part of my fence down and they secured the area well. They then put the fence back up. I would have never expected the experience could have been as good as it was. My pool opened up the weekend before we had the Big Freeze and I had pipes break. The crew helped me with all of those repairs, even though the product was done and delivered.
I have a standard pool and a hot tub. There's a fountain, which is a water feature on the tanning ledge. I have had minor things that are probably standard happen and anytime anything came up, Blue Haven come out, and fixed those issues. They've been super responsive. The main office didn't know about it. So Blue Haven needs to improve the communication between their work crews and the office.

Start to finish, I could not have asked for a better company to undergo such a large-scale project with. To start, I was blown away by the design Blue Haven Pools, came up with. During construction, Paul and Randy communicated every step of the project with me, and someone from Blue Haven was on site for pretty much every day of work. This was important because it enabled us to make a few last-minute refinements that we didn’t think of during the design stage. We were also very happy using their in-house financing because we didn’t have to mess with banks that don’t understand the phases of pool construction. I now have my dream pool and there is not a single thing I would change about it or working with Blue Haven!

We spent several meetings to review 3D renderings. It was a collaboration between my wife and me and the folks at Blue Haven. My backyard was a little bit of a challenge. It’s on a slope and they did a good job of looking at the landscape and coming up with a design that matched our backyard. We put a fountain in the back that made the backyard where it sloped down more discreet. They placed the spa in the correct place, which is closest to the house. It's a smaller backyard so they took a lot of measurements to maximize the pool and spa area in relationship to the yard. It was all very customizable.
There were different phases of building a pool and different crews came in. If we have any issues or questions, we typically go to the project manager and he would relay the message to the team. One time, the project manager wasn't there, and the leader of this particular team laying the travertine pavers was really thoughtful and easy to work with. As the back of the hill sloped down, he added some pavers to cover up the back of the pool, which weren't in the design, but he did it because it looked much better.
The pool also got all the wireless fountains and lighting and it was extremely helpful. We turn the features on and off through our phones from the app all the time. At nighttime, we change the lights. It's a feature that I didn't realize how important it was until we got it. Even the financial part was very well outlined. We logged on and we just made timely payments, which was all electronic. Our entire experience was seamless. If there was any little hiccup or issue in terms of the build process, they resolved it very quickly. Then they did a great job in responding to any little warranty issue that we've had, which had been minimal.

I would NOT recommend Blue Haven to anyone looking to build a pool or spa. The beautiful pools that you see in their brochures and advertising are a result of the contractors they hire, NOT a reflection of what Blue Haven actually does. From poor communication throughout the construction process to failure on their accounting department to reconcile the last payment, they lack the ability to practice common sense, much less customer service. From the time construction began, we rarely knew when/what the next step would be and when we reached out for answers, we were left with answered calls and texts.
Our partially completed pool sat untouched for weeks on several occasions, one of which was over 5 weeks. When it was finally finished, we received very minimal information about the specifics of equipment and overall maintenance. So inevitability we have run into issues with our pool and once again, Blue Haven is unreachable both by phone, email and text. It’s too bad I already referred my neighbor to Blue Haven for her future pool because knowing what I do now, I would never recommend them to anyone.

I had four project managers of which I was the third. I never met the first one. The second one was an old project manager that I fired. The pool was designed by the old Blue Haven. The project manager understood the laws of fluid dynamics, why I wanted what I wanted. They got to the point where they dug a hole, designed the pool, wind up the equipment, put a hole in the ground, shot the concrete and then they all but disappeared. Then at that point, the franchisee was sold. The new franchisee took over at that point and they fulfilled what the old Blue Haven did as far as the design went. They got what they were handed, which didn't entirely help matters. There were just some things that should have been corrected or addressed early on, but weren't, although that was fine.

I worked with a designer named Jaime. He worked collaboratively with us and listened to what we were wanting and had a couple of proposals. He did a great job. Unfortunately, there's been an ongoing problem with hot water heater whenever we use the hot tub. It was a manufactured part problem and they worked with me on it. But now, it's been good. We used the high end material for the lining of the pool and it turned out really nice. It was not a predesigned pool. So it had features that we were asking for, like putting a diving board and a slide. It also had two sitting ledges and a hot tub. Jamie designed based on the footprint of our backyard, taking into consideration a sewer easement. Other than the hot water heater not working like it's supposed to, I've been happy with the final product.
The technicians are a roll of the dice. After having a technician come out three different times regarding the amount of chlorine that was being distributed throughout the pool, I figured out the problem myself. Then with the hot water heater, it's been five years now and it still doesn't heat right. I've had someone out there about half a dozen times, which is unfortunate. They changed out different parts. It'll heat now, but it throws different error codes. I would call them and then they would come out and it would work for a little bit and then throw off different codes again. It's doing it again now. But I haven't called anybody to come out because I've kind of lost hope that they know that they're gonna be able to resolve it. Plus, now it's $125 an hour because it's been longer than the three years of warranty. It's not worth it to me to pay them to come out again. But other than that, everything's been great. Blue Haven did a great job. It's a very nice pool.

Blue Haven got to me earlier while the other ones put me out pretty far away. When they came out to do the work, there was no doubt that they really worked hard. The finish we put on it is pretty. I like it. I love the colors and the tile. But we had a few hiccups. My bullnose brick was a thicker brick than the new ones. I had all that removed and we had to add some concrete underneath it to build it up. But it's not perfectly straight. It’s got waves in it and I don't like that. One guy got it straight on one end but the other guy was in a hurry and didn't quite get it straight. They also had to chip some of the old plaster off. They were gonna come back and chip some more off but decided to leave it.
When the pool was finished, nobody came out and inspected it. I was going to talk to them about that bullnose being perfectly leveled. We set up several appointments, but they never made it. They were also supposed to teach me how to go over the pool and maintain it. We've had a pool for a long time so they felt like we would be okay without them coming and going over stuff with us.

However, I was warned not to use them because they weren't as good. Then I've kept having to change people. The guy that quoted the job and the foreman were fired. When the designer was fired, that put fear in me. But the head foreman stepped in and he did a really good job. They had to do a few things that were harder like hit water when they got so deep and had to drain it. They told me that that was the biggest residential pool they ever built. It's just that it was a waste of money. We never use it. But my wife loves it, so that's all that matters. Overall, they're a good company.

Harry, the sales rep, was intense on the front end but it was because they were so busy. But we were gonna get a pool and we wanted Blue Haven. And once he came to our house and helped us match everything out, he was a huge help. He got us everything we needed and the order was drawn out beautifully. We were impressed with everything. We had a great experience with him. I'm super extroverted and stubborn, so I didn't have a problem but I could see where he would be a little intimidating to some people.
Our project manager was absolutely fabulous. We signed the contract in May and we live in Florida, so it was pool season. They started to dig in the middle of July and we were swimming by the week after Labor Day. Blue Haven was incredible and all the employees who came to work on the project were all sweet and nice. Our back porch is big and we have fans out there. We have a bathroom that is like a pool bath, it's an exterior bath. So we would leave the fans running and I would give them access to the bathroom, and keep drinks in the refrigerator for them and stuff on the back porch. They were awesome. We got hit with a ton of bad weather and the reps said they were gonna finish it out. Part of our pool totally caved in right after they dug it. It was bad. We got a huge storm and they came out the next day and fixed it all. Our project manager was available whenever we needed him. He was great.
We love the ozone pump and it's easy to manage. The salesperson got us on the sea turtle. My daughter was with us and the rep pulled them out and asked what we thought about it. My kid said we needed them. That was the only thing that was insanely overpriced and uncalled for. But they look cute in our pool. We were pleased with Blue Haven and we had several people who ended up going with them.
The only thing is that all phone lines are not answered well at all. You have to send emails but if you’re a new client, you don’t have these email addresses yet. I understand that the reps are also busy and people call to ask what their starting price for a pool is and that's not a quick answer. So, I get it both ways. But even as a current client, I had a lot of trouble getting ahold of people from the actual office. So, I was super thankful that Travis was willing to share his cell phone number with us and I would call him during business hours if we had a question.

Terrible experience. Job site on Wisteria Trail in our new Four Trees Community, Midlothian Texas.
After several months of waiting post contract signing in August 2020, Blue Haven Pools finally started first work in November 2020. Then another few month waiting - not due to weather - Blue Haven Pools continued working February 2021 with their next step! Now it's June 2021 and we are still missing the Sundek, the plaster, Mastic and the final grading. Nearly 4 months later, plaster finally done but messed up - it took a crew one day, applied mastic looks terrible - took some guy 30 minutes, final grading still missing.
EXCAVATIONBlue Haven Pools excavation dump trucks drove over about 150 feet of great new green lawn instead of bringing out the dirt with the bobcat to the trucks on the road. They sank in the earth about two feet. The excavator roughly cleaned it upon exiting the property, leaving a messy path that you can't walk or drive with about 1 foot uneven bumpy trails. Get this - it's still not fixed! Superintendent Dave responded "We'll fix it eventually" ... that never happened.
METAL / REBARSBlue Haven Pools crew did their job but left small pieces of metal rods all over the yard, did not properly clean their leftover material. Me the homeowner had to remove it as there really is no "cleaning crew" of any kind and the workers don't give a damn about your property.
GUNITEThe Blue Haven Pools Gunite crew broke two sprinkler sections one head and one pipe by driving over the front lawn with their heavy trucks. Then they laid out their hose ripping off carefully maintained vegetation and destroying tree stabilizers. After the gunite crew left my backyard was a mess for about 6 months. They left broken wood, nails, plastic covers, half-eaten lunches and empty drink bottles all over my backyard. Blue Haven Pools gunite crew blew out their hose on the backyard but instead of removing their leftovers they just spread it all over the yard leaving hundreds of gunite clumps from small to big all over my property. The response "Well that's what they have to do - you need to give them access to the property somehow".
COPINGThe Blue Haven Pools coping crew dropped some large equipment on my driveway chipping out several sections and cracking it. Nobody has fixed it! I've personally smeared some concrete in the larger chipped out pieces but you can imagine it doesn't look too good. Second, their work leaves much to be desired. The Blue Haven Pools tile and coping crew had to redo several sections around the pool and one heedlessly wrong cut area and multiple tiles around the simple spa. Still we find badly - carelessly damaged and even faulty bricks around the coping. The Superintendent's response "It's bricks! I bet I can find a bunch of damaged bricks around your house walls too." (No joke)
DECK NIGHTMAREWork is so poor it can't be worse, insufficient pre-work, no compacting thus part of the deck started hanging down by nearly 2 inches. The forming was so cheap and badly done that the reused boards broke off during the pouring and had to be pieced together. That left ugly edges and also had to be redone at 3 area slabs. We've had a single, simple 6" stair and the crews formed it so bad that they've had to cut around it during their repairs, and it still looks crappy and unprofessional and careless. They've left their dirt, their boards and nails all over the place, and dumped concrete washouts at four different places, and left it.
I've gathered those in one single pile using a metal finder, so my family isn't getting hurt and called the superintendent to pick it up - but the cleaning guy refused to do so claiming it was not Blue Haven pools, as it certainly was because there are tile pieces and coping bricks in it also. Besides there is no other construction at my house and we have cameras.... just ridiculous - stay away as far as you can from Blue Haven Pools.
PLASTER MESSPaid for the most expensive darkest pebble plaster Bluehaven offered. The job was 90% well done. The last 10% however they failed to put enough material on it. The layer was 1/16" only so it started flaking off everywhere. They called it high spots where the job to smoothen out the gunite was done so poorly that lumpy areas are created. After filling it started losing Water at 30 gallons per hour due to uncovered areas in the skimmer section. After finding and fixing them we still lost over 8| gallons per hour - see attached image. After fixing some of the holes and uncovered areas in the plaster we are down to 1.2 gallons of loss per hour - that is on cold zero wind days with cover. So it still leaks out of the remaining holes. It had fixed 13 holes and still has several high spots with pebbles so thin to be removed with a fingernail. Overall a real quick and lousy job. Unable to do a closer look and find it acceptable.
The owner of A&E plaster company sent someone to drain the pool and partially fix things. He covered the pool refill/startup cost. Still now we have about 20 sqft of dark unedged/unwashed mass on the floor, about 80-100 sqft of real rough spots you better don't step on, some larger and a few smaller holes, and all in all 10 leftover nasty looking blemishes. See attached images of the finished job.
MASTICThat's the final touch? An application supposed to make it all look good sealing the gap and slight offsets between the pool deck and coping. Just real bad, terrible work, leaving lots of sharp edges that can cut open toes. The guy was a total newbie but telling me he did "...hundreds of them..." supposedly, he was in and out in 30+ minutes, sprayed sand all over the deck while trying to pre-fill the gap and then used a blower to get it inside the pool for the most part. Make sure you buy couple of expensive vac filters for his sand to be sucked out of the pool. His sand layer caved in on many places, but mostly too less mastic was applied, in some areas too much so it ran out on the deck. Now left with sharp, toe-cutting edges and sunken areas. See images.
So they've sent back this guy, he was angry and smeared mastic all over the deck in the first repair area, then he poured sand on it with a different much lighter color - doesn't get any dumber really. No English but he was abole to claim SAME COLOR SAME COLOR as if that changes the sand color. I told him to come back with the correct sand color - see images. Company called me claiming they are unable to provide a Mastic person to do the job right, offering lousy $318 to hire someone else or do it myself, which certainly fits the Blue Haven Dallas profile. Seems the main problem is their own workers and crews lying to the Bluehaven Pools and Spas management.
FINAL GRADINGBlue Haven Pools and Spas Dallas left my property in a mess. Blue haven created a 10 ft wide rocky 150ft long trench path where once a perfect lawn was. They've destroyed the drain channel and left it that way. The cleaning? There was none. From nails over rebar pieces to gunite and brick edges everything was left. We've had to eventually hire a pro company to come clean up the pile - gathered by the home ownwers. See images.
The pool? Even now - no joke - the concrete is still in the air mostly all around the deck. They did not grade anything, they did not even slant it down properly or even but left it just like the excavator pushed it back in. Someone did come and sprinkled 1/2 ton dirt over all the left-behind garbage and called it "job done". Our drain channel was destroyed by the Blue haven deck crew's bobcat driver. Here's what the deck guy did: he needed some more dirt under the concrete deck on the day of pouring, so instead of bringing in more he just dug out all the dirt down to the rocks of my drain area. The bad thing is they've left it that way, destroyed. Landscaper said he won't lay down sod as there will be no grass growing in that hole and area unless it's fixed. Just miserable. See images.
RUDE CREWSRude and negligent crews. Three of the crews complained - to me, the client - about Blue Haven Pools not paying them enough. How in the world is that my problem? I've paid and arm and a leg for every single step, likely tenfold what they've paid their crews. Well, their horrible work looks accordingly. Blue Haven Pools crews are extremely careless about your property and even their own work, not to mention how it actually turns out.
The Blue Haven Pools tile contractor told me they've only hired him because he had the lowest of low bids and they've got him to drop his price twice to get the contract with Blue Haven Pools. So, subsequently all Blue Haven Pools crews cut corners everywhere from reusing old nasty already cheap wood-board forms to saving on materials like pool deck 2.5 - 3 inches instead of 3.75 - 4 inches what its supposed to be. This is no joke and we have proof! None of the crews or workers speak any English whatsoever, makes it very hard to explain anything to anyone. You can imagine how much the single customer is worth to them.
MONEY CONTROL - BEWAREWant to lose any control over your money? So, Blue Haven Pools and Spas wants you to pay everything upfront, not a day, months and months upfront. You'll be paying them 80% of your money at about 15% work completion. Then you pay the rest - and that's BEFORE they even do the deck/plaster/cleaning/mastic/grading. You will be completely at their mercy when it comes to scheduling, callbacks, or in my case certain stages are left poorly done and foremost - unfinished.
STATUSNovember2021 now. Cost me additional $3247.50 to repair the driveway, the front lawn landscape including grading, the drain channel, and top spread out the rest of the dirt around the pool.
My advice:THINK TWICE BEFORE GIVING BLUE HAVEN POOLS YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.

The pool has a jump rock, a water feature, a hot tub and the bubblers. The quality was very good. Our only glitch was the initial gas plumber that Blue Haven hired. That ended up delaying the project by about four weeks because they had no idea what they were doing. The guy was asking me where stuff needed to go and when he asked that, I called Joe and told him that this wasn't working for me. The whole pool that Blue Haven made was a rectangle and I liked the shape of it and the look of it. The construction process was good. They built the pool fairly quickly. Some minor stuff happened though. They drilled a couple of holes and some of the sediment that got drilled out fell in the pool and caused some good stains, which they at first said was black algae, which I knew it wasn't because it's the middle of wintertime. They had drained the pool in the spring and sure enough, it was the sediment that had stuck to the plaster and rusted and that was causing the stains. They had to bleach it and fill it back up.
Another thing that was an issue was the patio was supposed to be a brown tan color. They were supposed to mix in some coloring into the cement and they didn't do it. After that, they said they couldn't because it had been discolored because of the size of the patio, which is not true. It's just a cement patio, which is not what I wanted. But, it's nothing major. As far as the construction, I've had the pool for about a year and everything runs great. It's a quality pool, for sure.

The communication could have been better. There were always delays and I remember being irritated. We had drainage issues in the beginning in one area. And we just had to try to get in touch with Blue Haven every day to try to get them to look at it. But the first guy that we mainly talked to was stretched thin with how many pools he was doing. So, he would say that they were coming on a certain day at a certain time but they wouldn't. It would be three weeks later, and they had not even started on that part. I know delays happen. Had he communicated better, we would have felt a little better about it. But halfway through, Blue Haven sent another guy who communicated a lot better. And we were a lot happier with everything.
However, the pool is smaller than I thought it would be. And when the crew spread it, I expressed concerns but they just kept saying, “It's gonna be way bigger than it looks.” At that point, I would have made it a bigger pool. But they just kept saying, “Oh, it's fine." Once they started digging, I said it again. And one just kept on saying, “It's gonna be fine. You're going to be happy.” But it was indeed smaller. But as far as what it looks like and the quality of work, it's excellent. I'm pleased with the final product.

You don’t often make a $100,000 decision based on an online review, but there was enough of them that it made me feel more comfortable going with Blue Haven. The reps were fantastic. Very specifically, we wanted the stairs to be in a sort of a unique location. We also wanted the pool to be as square as possible, but we didn't want an actual square. Jeff was able to design that out and it looks really good. It works well with a fire pit. We'd never owned a pool before so we had no idea what we wanted other than what we'd seen in pictures and other people's houses we've been to. It was great to get a lot of good advice on what products we wanted to use and what products we didn’t. We thought that travertine would be slick, but they walked us through that and let us walk on it in their showroom.
For us to have wanted a pool but to be essentially as ignorant as can be, I feel pleased that we ended up with a really nice end product and that's all because of Blue Haven. We didn’t know what direction to go but we knew we wanted to go with a company that all of our neighbors trust and that was a good decision. It's got the lighting, the fountains, the automatic vacuum, the automatic refill, and the automatic salt dispenser. We did the heating and cooling and that's been awesome too. Even on days here where it's been 110 degrees outside, the pool was able to stay around 85 to 90 if we wanted it to.

I asked Blue Haven to come out and go over some ideas we had about renovating and remodeling our backyard. They listened to what our ideas were and were able to put out some 3D drawings and dimensions that were very helpful for my wife and I to visualize and conceptually see what they were doing and put in place what we were thinking. First, we got to know Rob and John, who are both with the local company here, and they were pretty much available. But just like any pool company, they’re subject to delays, weather, and other things factored in there. Because of those, we'd only see them one day a week. I would reach out and check on the schedule with John and he would tell me that they'll come Saturday and they would work.
My wife was very unsatisfied with that process. We had an existing pool that required a demo step and process that started in February of last year, which was moving our backyard patio, concrete, and existing pool. Once they did that, it was about four weeks before they were able to get back to us. Then their first staging crew came in and started forming the pool and doing the rough end over there, too. The staging, from the time the demo came out, was about three months to get it back in over there.
We wanted the pool by Memorial Day and we had the pool two weeks before that in May. They did everything they said they would do and there were things that they did a little bit differently. From the tanning ledge, the depth that we liked over there was different from other companies. LED lighting in the pool that they recommend and do differently than what the other pool companies would do over there. It’s just that being there one day a week was kind of hard. Nonetheless, they were excellent and we were very pleased with their workmanship quality.
Matter of fact, I have contacted John and Rob back with a couple of other projects. After this, we went back and added a fire pit for our patio area. A couple of little things that come up, they’ve been good to respond, send somebody out, and take care of a couple of things. Other people ask us about who did our pool and we always tell them Blue Haven, and we recommend them highly.

We've been paying on the loan for nine months, and the payments are about 400 a month, none of it has gone toward the principal. Blue Haven had a few suggestions and took the design and went with it. It came out perfectly. The construction team was very good. They did everything on schedule and it went quickly. No hiccups or problems. Blue Haven did a great job and I would use them again. They were fantastic.

We started looking into the idea of buying a pool. We thought we were gonna go with the fiberglass pool but we learned that that wasn't a good choice of a pool for the location that we live in. We went looking for another option of having a concrete pool and that's what made us look at Blue Haven. We learned some things that we didn't know about having a pool, constructing and installing in the yard. I didn't think the process was gonna take as long as it did but somethings happened and it was beyond control because of the weather.
We have a 30 x 35 x 15 sized pool and we have some steps at the shallow end of the pool. The pool has some tanning ledge and we added a spa to it, too. That was the other thing that we’re glad we did. We enjoyed more of it. Trying to keep the pool clean is an ongoing, daily process though. We are having an issue with tiny bugs getting into the pool and I'm not sure how we can prevent that from happening. The other thing that we experience a little problem with is the deck that we chose to put around the pool. We have a travertine deck and we’re having sinking tiles. I’m not sure what we can do to prevent that from happening and I really have no idea that that was gonna be a problem.

Their customer service is so bad that they have to have their employees post good reviews! We have been lied to NUMEROUS times throughout this entire process!

Blue Haven installed the pool so when I had a problem with my control box, I went to call them. They had to order the control box. They told me it would take time which was about four or five weeks. They put the box control in the wintertime when we couldn't test it. We tested it now and a couple of things are missing in that box. It's working but it's not the same thing that we had before. Blue Haven is okay but they're not the best company. They're pretty expensive too and I have a feeling they are using their name to kind of overcharge everything. Also, the person who put the control box in was not very friendly. They could be a little bit faster and a little bit nicer to a customer when they talk.

The designer from Blue Haven did a great job. I like everything they did. We turn everything on and off with the cell phone, all the lighting, hot tub and waterfalls. The reps were very responsive and professional. We had a couple of little things. A wrong size drain pipe was put under the sidewalk and they had that corrected for me. There were a few stones short at one point because we’re building a sidewalk and they helped me acquire those. That was unforeseen and they constantly stepped up. When we needed to handle something, they came down here and ironed it out for me. They did an excellent job. It was a pleasure working with them.

The designer took time with us and was very helpful. He came out and did the laser measurements. All the different contractors who built the pool were pretty good. Coordinating them was a little frustrating to us because everybody in the area uses the same contractors to dig and then to do the gunite. But it turned out to be a nice pool and I love the water feature. They dug it wrong so it made it wider than it was supposed to be but we're glad they did. We love the waterfall, the slide, the shape of it, and the ease of care compared to my old pool.
I was skeptical of the filtering system they were trying to sell me. I didn't know much about the ozone feature. But I have used a lot less chlorine than I did in my old pool, so I'm a believer. Then, I had a problem with the pump and I called. They helped me figure out some things and they replaced the pump or the motor because one of the speeds went out on it. They did that timely.

After a year and a half of missed deadlines and false promises, I was forced to hire my own contractor to finish their job. They lack the competency and concern to effectively function in the pool construction business. As of this writing (nearly 19 months from starting work), I am missing a cover for my drain, have non-functional (disassembled) fire bowls, have missing pavers in the decking, missing lights, missing lounge chairs (never delivered) and missing umbrella stand covers. I was forced to pay extra out of pocket to finish my cabaña because there was no way on this green earth they were ever going to complete the project. This company should not be allowed to participate in any form of commerce in the US economy. Absolutely and utterly unsatisfactory.

But there was no big unveiling or you get a car, “Here are the keys to your brand-new car. We washed it and cleaned it and everything's great.” We didn't get any of that. In their mind, they are done. We've given them the final payment. And now that we have it, we told them that it isn't working as it is supposed to. They said, “Well, that's the way it's supposed to work.” And we were like, “No, it's not.” So, we went back and forth on that. It's also not what was in our plans. The designer was good although we didn't get everything that we asked for. There were some things that were forgotten and we didn't realize that until we brought it to their attention. We had already signed addendums for it. But because they didn't follow through with it and things had already gotten done, we had to let them be what they were.
As far as the construction, considering that we entered into our agreement at the onset of the pandemic, there were some stuff that were good. But there were a lot of things that fell through the cracks. One of the biggest things is that we never knew where we were in the process of our pool. We didn't know what was going on. We didn't understand the process. A big part of that was because we didn't come to find out until we actually had a very serious conversation with the owners about how we never knew anything. And we never knew that there was such a thing called Buildertrend, where we could actually know what the status was on things, when things were coming around, when things were reported. So, we were always left to wonder and left to just wait. I was the one always instigating conversations about this.
They knew they were entering stuff in Buildertrend. Last week, I finally got something and we're talking about almost a year after I signed this agreement, that I finally got access to Buildertrend. There were some stuff there that I wish I would have known way beforehand. It would have eliminated a lot of headaches, and it would have helped me understand the process a little better.
There was a lot of lack of communication because of that. I'm a business owner. So, if I knew there was something there that communicates to my clients, everything that they need to know, I would inform my clients of that well before. And I never got informed until we had a very heart-to-heart conversation with them about how dissatisfied we were with follow-up, and with lack of communication and follow-through.
My pool is beautiful. There were some things that we have been concerned about. One of them is that we still don't have our leak that we know is evident and that they denied countless times that there was no leak. We've been paying out of our pocket for these things. The construction was great, but the follow-through has not been wonderful.
I understand the pandemic. I understand that everyone's getting pulled. But if we signed a contract, and if we signed an agreement, and you said you were able to follow through, don't tell us you can do something when you're not able to do it. We understand that there's a site that you cannot control. But there was improper communication with us. There was a lot of ignoring of our comments and concerns. And I have a business that has to deal with clients every single day. I know the client isn't always right. And by no means would I ever imagine that we were right in everything we were saying. However, you always want to put to bed the idea that a client can actually spread a negative review. So, you do the best that you can to ensure that you are maintaining your integrity as a business.
I felt like it didn't matter to them with the concerns that we had. And it just wasn't important. It was more of a “He said, you said, we said, this said.” It was like two kids fighting at the end of the day. And we're just trying to get through, to have a conversation to acknowledge or to just get a response, and we wouldn't always get a runaround. In hindsight, I wouldn't have gone with Blue Haven. And it's hard for me to even say that about anybody. I would never treat my client the way we were treated.
At the beginning, it was wonderful. At this point, I don't even know if our permits are closed. I know that they came last week, finally. But that wasn't a priority. We couldn't even entertain selling the home because it wouldn't sell. We were contingent of a permit being closed. So, those little things added to the frustration of everything. But the most frustrating thing is that a neighbor, two doors down, had her pool, and had her permit, and this is the neighbor that referred Blue Haven to us. And from our experience, she didn't go with Blue Haven because of the turmoil that we were going through. Her pool was ready in the time that was promised. And she was able to get her permits closed. She was able to have a finished product that had no issues. And here, at this point, I'm still having to deal with it.
Blue Haven was way over their head. They didn't know how to manage it. Logistically, they didn't have things in order. And we go by this model. The right person in the right seat. And when you have the right person in the right seat, there's great communication, and an organization. Maybe they don't have the right people. I just hope they learn because of my experience.

Then anytime I called the gal during the process of building the pool, she was very easy to get ahold of. She called me right back if she couldn't get ahold of me or I could email her and I’d get something usually within about 30 minutes. We got through the winter pretty well. We had some very bad weather, our pool froze, the pipes, that everybody else was going through. All of the pavers that were put around the pool look beautiful. The only thing that I’m left with is the runout. There has to be a hose to run out, to where I wanted it to be placed, and they didn't have enough piping. There also has to be a little dig out, and the pipe has to go in there. Then, it has to go another six feet for the runout. They haven’t come back for that.

The salesman that helped us at the front end and with the initial design was great. He had the computer, he had the 3D design, and he did very well with that. Once we got everything approved, we went on to design at the office. The lady there was very knowledgeable, as far as what the options were, for every aspect of it, and knew her stuff, so it made the process very easy to pick the color of the stone and everything else. I love how the plaster turned out with being the cream color with the specs. We added some of the turtle tile upgrades to it so that the blues and all the colors that were in the plaster really made the turtles pop. We had a little bit of an issue with the stone color we chose initially because there was a problem getting it in. We changed color on that, and the color we changed to was 10 times better. It made everything really pop and got it all together. All around, it was awesome.
Once our project manager changed over to Brandon, he did an outstanding job staying in communication with us, getting everything lined up, tried to rush and get the process going and get done. There are a lot of people locally who have Blue Haven or who have used them. I got two other quotes from other companies and they were $15,000 to $20,000 more expensive than Blue Haven. And then when I was doing my initial consultation with Gary who I've had the pleasure of doing work for on a separate side business that I worked with on his personal property, he explained to me that they are able to keep prices lower than other competitors because they do so many pools, which made sense when looking at the bottom dollar of the quotes. You had to submit your survey so Gary had some ideas based off that about what would fit with setbacks as far as county code. But we have a slope in the backyard that we had to work against. He came out, looked at it and said, “Well, these are the ideas that I came up with. Obviously, they can be tweaked, but this is a starting point.”
He already came prepared with five separate ideas as far as designs. And we went with the one we thought was most practical and cost-effective because you're talking linear feet. So if you want the pool to be two feet wider in the center, your linear footage as far as material, goes up, therefore your price goes up. But he already had an idea of what would fit and what the trend is, and kept that in mind with our budget as well.
We had done over the off-season, so we had Christmas, New Year's and Thanksgiving. The timeline got a little pushed to the right with Christmas and New Year's. And we had some weather issues, which they can't control. So it took a month longer than we projected. But I didn't care as long as it got done right. It's not like I would swim in the pool that wasn't heated in February. I know some people were bothered, but that's what happens. If you’re third in line as far as first come, first served, you're going to be third in line. So when everything gets pushed to the right, you also get pushed to the right. But my project manager was awesome. I became friends with the guy. I couldn't have a better relationship with Blue Haven people. The whole thing was awesome.
The guy who came in and out were very respectful. I speak a little Spanish. My wife is Hispanic. So any issues that we had, it was easy to communicate with them. I can see how it would be difficult on some of these crews that are coming in and out that don't speak good English. So between my wife and I, we were able to convey messages. But I asked them to keep the path of heavy machinery going in and out of my yard so it wouldn’t have to rip out the whole front yard, and they respected that. Also, I went out and got the guys drinks. Made coffee and everything.

I had Blue Haven put in a pool in Oroville before. We knew that they built a good pool so we went with them again. We're on a weird lot. It was downhill and they led me to believe that it would be one step down off our patio but it ended up 4 feet. It was a whole change in what we thought the pool was gonna look like. The process took a long time. There were always problems and it wasn't just with Blue Haven. There was getting somebody to come and put a fence around us so we could get a permit to put water in it. Nobody had any cyclone fences. There was also COVID. Blue Haven couldn't have people over here. People didn't want to work, people were on unemployment, or they didn't have a whole crew and they were always busy putting pools in. It really messed our schedule up for the summer.
Working with Blue Haven, you have to really follow through with them. You don't have a schedule, especially in those times. You gotta call them and ask what they are going to do now and when that is going to happen. You really have to stay on top of them. The pool we had Blue Haven put in before had big spa. This pool that we have now was even more expensive than the other one and it's without the spa. In the long run, we got around all of our issues. The pool turned out nice and we really like it. We got a new color on the bottom and it's beautiful.

We did a Google search of local pool contractors in the area, interviewed five of them and liked the design and style that Blue Haven presented to us over everybody else. The construction process took somewhere around 120 days. It’s what we anticipated. It was a bit drawn out only due to our own delay 'cause we couldn't decide on waterline tiles. That got held up because that needed to be special ordered, but other than that, the construction process was absolutely fine. The end product was better than what we anticipated as well. We were looking for more of a modern design and it was the original plan that the designer put together. It was exactly what we wanted, without having to go back and forth. All in all, Blue Haven's got a bit of a bad rap from some other stuff that they have going on, but it's worth giving them a try. It’s worth it to be patient 'cause sometimes, being patient is more than anything else.

The original guy Blue Haven sent out to come give us the bid was not satisfactory. He was new and he told us that he absolutely could not build any pool for less than $65,000. He didn’t explain anything about the options. That was also in the beginning of the COVID pandemic and even though I told him I wanted to have the meeting outside, this strange man insisted on coming inside our house. It was very upsetting. When he left, I was uneasy that that person had been inside my house, not just because of COVID. He had tattoos all over and I didn't feel safe that week. It was a bad experience. Blue Haven is dealing with financially higher-class people that are able to afford to build these pools, and they do not want a salesman coming inside their house.
It was a bad start, but when I called to complain, the company listened and they made things right. They were extremely responsive. Ever since then, we’ve been very happy with everything. They sent out Nathan. One of the managers did the design build for us. The only concern I had was when we went to pick up the tile, the first guy was still there. I saw him in the office. For him to insist coming inside our house, that was a turn-off. To me, that should have been grounds to being terminated especially during COVID and security issues. Apart from that, Nathan knew I was unhappy with the first guy and he made up for it. He responded 100% and he was amazing. However, Blue Haven could use some improvement on the training when the pool is complete.
The guy that came and did the follow-up, Pool School, didn't listen to me. He talked down to me, like I should understand more than what I did, and that was a turn-off as well. Blue Haven wants to sell you all of those chemicals and one person told me I should record it, but the other person said, “Uhh, I don't really like you to record it.” They also say it's all in the manual and it's not all in there. That was a mess. It was overwhelming too. I’m an attorney, and it was hard for me to figure it out. During Pool School, they tell you all the chemicals are gonna change within a week, but then no one ever comes back. It’s like they finish construction, and you're on your own. They should do a second follow-up after Pool School two weeks later.
Instead, they just tell you, “Call our service department,” and they have been helpful in some things, but not especially. I've gotten better advice from Leslie’s Pool than them. Still, I have recommended Blue Haven. They do high-quality work and the products they do are very good. The guys that built the pool were amazing too. My husband's in construction, and even he said, “They did very good quality work.” We also just had a bad cold snap and the pool came through just fine from that, even though a lot of people had their pools freeze. Blue Haven was the only one who showed up, did everything and came back out to the house and had a whole 3D rendering of what it would look like. So, we appreciated the professionalism.
We had two little tiles that our kids had put their hand and footprint on when they were young. We had kept those and we wanted to put those in with the decking. The contractors covered it over with the decking and then power washed it. I didn't feel like I needed to tell them that we wanted those pictures and things still on the top. It was obvious but looking back, maybe I should have said something more specific. Contractors don't always do it the way you would do it yourself. Those tiles ended up being plain white. I have not heard a word from him in weeks and that is only him responding to us contacting him. At this point I am not even sure where we are supposed to turn.

Terrible! Never provided pool plans. 20x42 is actually 18x42 because they count 9" deep bumpout ledge as width of the entire pool. 2.70 hp pump instead of contract 2.85 hp. Said, "Oops my bad." 8x6 Negative Edge Spa actually flat top and only 8x5.5; 6 jets instead of 8. Use cheaper 2" pipes. Demand payment in advance of work. Work slowly. Decking took 4 months. Deceptive: raised wall only faced with stone on the front, like a hollywood set. Tried telling me that flat top is the best kind of negative edge????
Never installed eyelets or lighting, but was paid for. Claimed they do it at plaster, but still demand they be paid for all of those things in advance. Steps out of pool 20" high; told me you'll be okay because your lighter in the water so even old people can step up. Never invoiced me. I sent phase payments immediately after work was done without being asked, but later they insisted my payments had been late? Even did work stoppage midway through decking phase demanding full payment for decking even though it wasn't done!?
If you don't use a lending institution (pay out of pocket) that will insist work be done before payment, they will demand you pay for work in advance. They told me this!? Sloppy pad, wires dangling, concrete debris in planter boxes, over a year and still waiting.... Use at your own risk. Study before you sign. Monitor like a hawk. Take nothing by word.

We never had a pool before, so we really leaned on Blue Haven's designer to help us. He went over above and beyond. I don't know anything about pools and so I really needed him. He has some great ideas. We got a good hookup. I was on a really tight budget so I wanted the smallest pool I could get. I explained that to Shawn. He was right in line with everybody else as far as telling us the smallest one we could do. We have a daughter that has special needs. So, he helped us out with the beach entry, which was his idea because I wouldn't have thought of that. Then he's got a wheelchair ramp over to one side. It's a freeform pool. It doesn't have square corners. It's got the wheelchair ramp there on that one side that kind of eases down into it.
Back when I was younger, I swam in some neighbors' pools that were all 8, 9, 12 foot deep. He explained that that's wasted water and space. Nobody ever stays in that of deep water. You always just swim across it. We're older. I'm in my 50s. My wife's in the 40s. Our daughter doesn't need that kind of depth. Those were really good points. We've only been through one summer with the pool and it's great. The way you could just walk right into it was great. You don't have to worry about holding on to a rail or slipping and falling. It's really important for our daughter. To me, that's a smart feature. We've already recommended Blue Haven and Shawn to some friends. We’ve had a couple little bitty things that have come up. But I got Shawn's cell phone number. I call him. He takes care of me.

We had some communication issues with Blue Haven. During the process, things would stop and we wouldn't get any kind of courtesy that nobody would be here. Other than that, they were pretty good. I knew a lot of it was out of their control due to pandemic stuff so I'm 90% satisfied. Everything with the pool has been perfect. They did a fantastic job with the overall look of our waterfall and hot tub. The only thing we've had issues with is one of our waterfalls which has continued to be an issue and in about a month I'll call Blue Haven back. I'm sure they'll come out and fix it. I have recommended Blue Haven twice. One of those people ended up going with them. But, they told him that I'd get something for the referral. They just finished his pool and that hasn't happened.

We visited Blue Haven in their office and they had a lot of products that you could look at. The location was very convenient for us. We got a pool. I'm happy with it and the shape of it. Everything we had was on there. The only thing is in my grotto, I've got some buildup that we're still trying to work with to get off. We had to replace the little springboard thing that took the water out on the slide. It leaked in the back so we're working on that. Service people are going to come back to do that. Another thing was during the installation, Blue Haven didn't have as many crew because we were in the middle of COVID. It wasn't anybody's fault. It was just life. Other than that, the installation went well.
Nowadays when you get a pool, it's 70,000 just to get a hole in the ground. Everything else is extra. And no matter where you go, you'd be told, "If you want extra, you pay extra." The pool was over 120,000 and we did a lot of extras. I’d been happier if the cost was a little bit the other way, but we got everything we wanted. My grandkids love our pool. We have it where we can jump off of it.

It has travertine around the sides and it has the pebble lining in Caribbean color. It also has the LED light in there. We ended up getting the heat pump with it with a chiller and we use both of them. During the summer, it would get really hot, we had to use a chiller to keep the water cooler in the hotter months. Sean did a fantastic job following up with us and it came in a lot quicker than I thought it would whenever we could put the pool in. I thought it would take them three months, but it was two months at the most. Everything went well. I definitely recommend Blue Haven. In fact, I have tried to refer them. A neighbor across the street from me was thinking about getting one.

We are happy for the most part on everything. There's a few things that I would have done a little differently had I known. But some of that is on us and not on Blue Haven. Overall, it was a good experience. Don was the salesman and he was the one that kind of designed the pool. He was great. I'm a big fan. For the most part, what he told us would happen happened. There were a few surprises which would have been nice to know upfront. I don't know if he could have foreseen those things or not, but it is what it is. I would recommend him.
The pool bubbler is pretty cool. We did the color lights and then we waited on the Smart Controls. Those are being installed this year. But we should have done that from the get-go. The construction of the pool was fantastic. The Blue Have people were great. They were out of this world. Some of the hardest workers and the best quality I can think of. The only construction part that I'm still kind of irritated about is the concrete. The concrete, is not good. It's cracking all over the place and we've only had it for about four months. The concrete guys that they used were messy. They left trash all over the yard and they threw the garbage in the pool. They were really, really bad. I told that to Blue Haven and they said they were sorry about it.

We had recommendations from a couple other people who had pools built by Blue Haven. There were some misunderstandings in design, but we were able to work with them. The designer was able to correct the situation, and we ended up with a pool that we are enjoying. We do have an issue with some grouting with the cap around the pool. We need to take pictures. We haven't had a chance because my wife and I are both swamped at work to get the pictures and send to them. The designer was fine. It was some of the workmanship. Sometimes we had to have people come out and fix workmanship.
We have coping around the top of the pool and some of the pieces are breaking, and it's maybe the supplier who supplied them. I'm not sure where that issue needs to be resolved, but we have a couple pieces of flagstone that had breaks in it. We also have problems with some of the mortar tripping out. For our size pool, I've been told by people who have done shopping between smaller size pools, their designs are good because of the grade steel they have. Some people I know who have had larger size pools built have questioned whether the seal that they use should have been a little bit bigger or closer together.
My understanding is they do good work and they back their work. We still have to get with them on the flagstone and the mortar issue. We've contacted them and they asked for photos. Things have come up that have prevented us from doing that, and we need to get that done shortly. I went and talked to other pool people. And Blue Haven worked with us, and other ones were not as readily going to work with us. They wanted to throw their pool in the ground. So I thought that Blue Haven was very accommodating.

It was the smoothest installation seeing they were waiting on builders to finish the back porch and different things. So, we were never waiting on them for anything. It went great. That was one of the best experiences on my house building program. The design for the bottom sweeping system and the engineering was coming from Blue Haven. Trinity Valley did a great job. Those were the three major things. They came here and did some sort of detailed survey of our house and were able to do computer rendering of the pool prior to selecting everything. We did a lot of research prior to pulling the trigger and getting estimates. By the time that came, we knew kinda what we wanted and what we were gonna do. But one thing that was lacking with Blue Haven was there was not much of a design process. I'm not bad at doing that stuff myself so I just kind of took it upon myself to figure out what we wanted, like what tile and stuff to use. You can change the colors and the lighting.
But I wish they could have kept up with their commitments at the tail end. Their accounting took a long time for getting the inspection done and I still have one small little lingering issue that I'm waiting for them to come and do a quick repair on. They received the last payment but now it's really hard to get ahold of them. The project is not really 100% done but they're not doing the follow-through with me and being responsive. Shortly after a big Category 5 hurricane down here, we were eager to get something going. We were having problems with insurance and we wanted to do something to get the house looking better. We decided to do the pool part on our own. There was a poo place in town but we heard some bad things about them. Blue Haven over in Walton County was a little bit of a distance but it was not too bad. We went over and took a peek at them one day. We liked what we heard and we saw some designs. Their rep showed us a couple of things. We knew we didn't want a plain old rectangular pool. There was one that they called a Grecian one and we liked that. Blue Haven was easy to work with. Their guy asked us, “How does this design look?” We liked it and ended up with a free form pool.
They told us the time frame barring weather. They talked about some of the warranty stuff that they had too. We paid for the pool in cash. We had a bunch of rain delays but that was not their fault. Other than that, the process was pretty quick. They’re done and the pool is fine. We decided to do an upgrade and added a bunch of pavers. We also got a fire pit built out of the same paver since it all matched. We had them do a little bit of custom tile stuff to kind of mark the edge of the steps and the platform.
We chose the color. We had two color options on the gunite that we could go with. They put the first thing down and they covered it with sort of a white thing. I thought we asked for blue but was told that when there’s water in there, it would be blue. And it is. It almost looks white with a little bit of blue glitter in there. Once the water goes in there, it turns it blue so that was kinda neat. We also like that the tinted lights will change if we want that done. We can either change it from red or different colors of blue, green, and purple. I like the dark dark blue while my kids like the red one. My wife likes the sort of the greenish looking one.
The last thing we did was we moved the tanning ledge from the deep end to the shallow end. It felt like the kids would be jumping on the deep end more often than not, and the tanning ledge took up some of the deep end. And if we were sitting there, we didn’t wanna be getting splashed all the time if the kids were jumping in. Blue Haven did a job and so did Caleb, the supervisor during the project.

The designer, Anthony, created a lovely plan and he gave us a price. But when we looked at the stakeout, we saw that the end of the pool was incredibly tiny. We wanted to add a foot which was a total of 12 square feet. He charged us $100 a square foot, so that was $1,200. That was before they put it in. So I saw absolutely no reason for that price gouging. I was appalled at the price he charged us to amend the plan. But we paid for it. We needed it to expand. It was not our first Blue Haven pool and it was not our first swimming pool. I was taken aback, but my hands were tied at that point.
We had a problem with Anthony because he suggested a landscape person in here. The guy suggested a $40,000 landscaping package around the pool. We didn't go with the landscape person and I sent him an email and told him why. Anthony took exception to that. That really bothered us. He was nasty about it. Who wants 40 grand to put in $20,000 worth of work? He was telling us we were nasty about our answer to the landscape guy, which was none of his business. We almost canceled the pool. But legally we couldn't. We dealt years before with Anthony and his uncle and we had a wonderful experience. We told Anthony to move forward after the charge of the $1,200 for the foot, which was offensive.
Going forward and our pool was installed within a incredible amount of time. Just like it was years and years ago with them. The office in which Anthony operates is incredible. The women in there are great. They worked with us very well. I had several questions as construction went on and I sent them to Anthony. But I got no answers ever from him. When I went to the women in the office, they answered every question I had. They took care of hooking me up with the people that I needed to be connected to. When I had a problem with the heater, they were all over it. They helped us with a warranty. When I opened and closed with their recommended company, they were fine.
The pool was installed beautifully. We are built into the side of the hill. So the design required a kind of a wave like finish. They did a great job with that. It's beautiful. We enjoyed the construction team. But I was upset over what they did take away versus what they didn't take away. Those were all subcontractors going along the way. It had nothing to do with Blue Haven. They laughed at the fact that we were told this was gonna be carted off, and they went, "No. There's no way in hell we're carrying that away." So we had to get our own people to take stuff out. But overall, Blue Haven is reliable. They did what they said they were gonna do. They did it in a timely fashion with the same number of dollars that they said they were gonna do it with.

Blue Haven built the pool, the spa and a firepit also. The design department did a really good job. The 3D rendering was really nice to see. It was well laid out. They were able to envision it in a way that I think worked really well. My favorite feature is the technology. We put in UV cleaning and then it has self-cleaning heads. It has also electric heat pumps.
However, they didn't really meet a lot of the timelines that they had told me. It's better to tell somebody, "Hey, this part is not gonna be done until October 1st." Then if it's done on September 20th, you have a happy customer. But if you tell them September 10th and it's 20th, and this keeps happening to every phase, even though when you look back, you go, "It wasn't so bad. They built it in a timely manner", then it's a really easy tweak for the business to make. Just manage expectations. Because they didn't take forever and they didn't do a bad job. They just didn't do a good job managing what they said they would do when they said they do it.
One of the big keys for me was that most consumers are not very educated about what it is they're doing. They just know like, "I want a pool," or, "I wanna have the spa and firepit." So, I had to go back and forth with them about five or six times on explaining I don't want a gas heater for the pool, I want a heat pump and that was never presented as an option. I did my own research and asked if it was possible. They said, "Yeah, it's possible. No one does that. We don't recommend it." I'm glad that I'm just stubborn and I went with my own thing.
Pools shouldn't be heated with gas unless they're never used. 'Cause if you heat a pool with gas, it's gonna be 600 to 1000 bucks a month. I spend 100 a month. Electric is the way you heat a pool unless you wanna swim in the middle of the winter, and electric heat pumps can't really heat a pool if it's under 55. But if it's under 55, I don't really want to swim. That's cold. So I went back and forth and the guy said, "You turn the pool on on Friday afternoon, the kids swim on it on Saturday. It's not that much to heat it with gas, and it's three times faster." That's true, gas is faster to heat a pool. But it was a lack of understanding that not everyone is like you.
I told him, "I don't have kids. We're a child-free couple. I work from home for myself. So I wouldn't be using the pool more on a Saturday than I would on a Tuesday." I said, "I'm using this thing every day, which means I need it heated every day. Electric heat pumps are just cheaper to do that." But gas would be better if you're using it like he described. So the best thing to do is they should tell their customers the options.
I use the hot tub about 10 times in April for two hours per time, including heating it. It was $200 just to heat the hot tub. 'Cause we use gas heating for the hot tub. I just wish I knew that because I don't think I would've built such a big hot tub. I wish they had told me, "The hot tub design you selected is really beautiful and it's really big, but just so you know, heating 800 gallons of water, it's gonna be expensive." Those things should have been communicated up front a little bit because they're the experts. When I got my first gas bill, it went up from $49 to 262 using the hot tub. I was like, "Oh my gosh. All right, I'll be careful when I use the hot tub."
The guy also told me, "You turn on the heat and it'll be warm in 40 minutes." I said, "Okay, that sounds cool." But, in the winter, it takes two hours to heat. If it's 35 degrees outside, to get it up to 100, it will take a solid hour and 40 to hour and 50 minutes and that's a disincentive. If I knew that, I might've just skipped the hot tub or went with one that you just plugin. But, these are all things that they can work on because their quality is so good.
I would recommend Blue Haven to other people because they did a great job. They built a really nice pool. One of the systems failed in the summer. It was the pump itself that moves the water in and out. It was making this really weird sounds. I called them and they were really awesome and responsive. They got somebody out the day after I contacted them. They were like, "This is an emergency situation." I was super impressed that they stand behind their work. They're not just gonna leave you high and dry. Overall, it's a good company.

We heard about Blue Haven through a contractor that we were considering using for our Hurricane Michael remodel. For the shape of the pool, we did freeform. Then, we've gotten a lot of use out of the firepit. I called Blue Haven a couple of times trying to get them to come back out and give us another tutorial on it all but they told us that they don't really do follow-ups. After spending almost 60 grand. Also, our lights sometimes wouldn't change together. There are two pool lights, and when you click the button, one will stay that color and they get off-sequence. Their sales presentation was fantastic and the construction was great. But the education and follow-up were poor.

We weren't quite sure about the shape of the pool because we have a very traditional home. I wanted some curves and I didn't want it just a rectangle pool. Blue Haven helped us get the design right with the tanning ledge that I wanted. Plus there's a spa. When we picked out the pool features, they sat down with us and helped pick all that out. Everything was above and beyond. They were always available. I could pick up the phone and call somebody and get them. We've always been very happy. Someone just came out and did the annual maintenance. We had an electronic panel that had to be replaced. We've always had great service.

Blue Haven was the designer, contractor and builder of our pool, and everyone did well. There were a couple of issues with some of the original plans as far as measurements and layout but Blue Haven rectified it to my satisfaction so everything worked out well. With most jobs, you have hiccups along the way but they responded very favorably without much more than my inquiry as to why something occurred. If I expressed that I wasn't happy with something, they quickly resolved it. One of those fixes even resulted in them having to bring in about seven or eight loads of dirt and do some other things. That wasn't in the original budget and they didn't bill me in addition for all that stuff. They took it out of the profits.
Everything got done in the time frame but I wish the project manager was a little better at communicating. There were times when it seemed like he was overtasked and managing multiple jobs at one time. I had to pull information as far as schedule when somebody was gonna show up, when they weren't, so I would know when to expect some of the workers. I expected his ability to keep me as informed as I would have liked but it wasn't detrimental. Overall, I was very pleased. When I prodded, I got the responses I wanted.
I have recommended Blue Haven to people that were interested in pools and I will continue to do so. Everything was good and the pool came out well. There have been a couple of things where I've had them come out to do some warranty work here and there but those were minor things. The pool decking is covered by warranty for about a year. My warranty had just expired on that by about a month or so and I had a situation where some of them had settled and sunk a little bit. But they came out anyway and repaired it under warranty. The customer service is standing by their product. They've been very good.

I am in the ready-mix business in this area down here, and Blue Haven is the only pool company that has an account where they can charge for concrete. Every other pool company is COD, and that says a lot to me. The Blue Haven pool designer was great. I told him what I wanted, and he drew me some pictures and some plans, and we were good to go. I like the design of the pool. It's a kidney-shaped type. He did a good job.
My pool’s kinda plain Jane. It got seats by the steps, a couple steps, a wrap around seat and a seat in the deep end. I added the colored light and I got a remote control for it. The construction team was great. They all did an excellent job. Having the pool is great. We used to live on the island on the water out there. This is clean water, and it’s not salty. It's super. We love it.

The installation was really smooth. The total process took about seven weeks and it was much quicker than I thought it was gonna be. Our interaction with the designer was very good and they didn't try to oversell me. They came up with a Grecian classical pool design, but I already had that in mind. I also asked for a 3-foot to 6 feet pool, and they built me a 3 feet by 5-foot pool. They gave me a couple of thousand dollars off though.
The pool pump was also supposed to be located on the back side of the house, not on the rock on the side of the house, so that was off. It's on the other side of the fence, so every time I have to go to the pool pump, I have to go through the house 'cause there isn't a gate there. That's a bit of a pain, but otherwise, it was okay. I had a good experience, and the things that went wrong, Blue Haven made right. I had a couple of jets on the pool and a Baja shelf that I really like. I will never have a house now without a pool. I wish that I had done it a lot earlier too.

I was very pleased with the pool designer's ability and listening. The designer and the superintendent always went above and beyond to make sure that we feel like we're number one. They had a conversation with us trying to pull the image out of our head then they had a software program that they used to create a rendering for the design. The designer helped us do a hot tub in with a spillover waterfall and picked out the waterline tile and the accent tile.
The construction team was more proactive than he was reactive. He kept us up-to-date on what was going on, the timeline moving forward and everything that was gonna happen so there were no surprises. If it was their mistake, then they'd fix it like when they first laid out the steps going into the pool, they were wrong after they had them already formed up. We asked them about that and showed them the rendering. They tore it out and redid it at no additional cost to us because it was the right thing to do. Overall, we're very satisfied. Blue Haven is the only pool company that I refer to now because of my experience.

Blue Haven was giving warranties on all the stuff that they did, even my patio, so I just went with them. Everybody else wanted to get somebody else to do the patio. I didn't want to have a bunch of different contractors out there. But Blue Haven did everything. We told them what we wanted and they made it work. It was really simple and they gave us exactly what we wanted. We paid for it ourselves. We have a waterfall that comes out of our hot tub into the pool.
The Russian guys who did the installation were a little bit rough. They busted a few things up but other than that. Instead of trying to saw cut, the guy just kept yanking and yanking and pulled the main water feed into the house and out of the house. So Blue Haven was having to get a plumber to come in and bust concrete to go fix what the guy had done. I told Blue Haven about a reimbursement and they didn't seem to care. I was just happy to get it all done and get everybody out of my hair. The quality was good and everything came out great.

The Blue Haven representative showed us a diagram with a computerized spot for our pool, we went, and we agreed. It’s a beautiful pool with pavers around it. He and my wife also agreed on the lighting and she's very happy with it. The installation was very comfortable. We had some issues at the end, but they're very small. We expected some rocks to cover an area, but they jumped right on it. Any question we had, they were able to correct any issues. The pool is in a perfect spot and we have enjoyed it.

Blue Haven gave me some options but I went my own route. Their designer gave pool suggestions and I agreed. I thought they were good. The project manager was wonderful. He handled everything very well, and he took his time to explain things to us. Any issues or concerns that we had, he addressed them and made sure we're comfortable with them. We had LED colored lights, three water features in the pool, and then the spill-off from the hot tub into the pool as well. Then we had a tanning ledge. We have where we can control the filter and the temperature and all of that from our smartphone.
We have a one year warranty on things. There are a couple of things that are kind of outstanding. I don't have any reason to believe that they're not going to correct them, but they haven't corrected them yet. I just reached out to them on these issues last week. The person I spoke with said that he was going to forward it to corporate. Considering everything involved with installing a pool, our experience was overall pretty uneventful. The pool absolutely meets all of our expectations, the design and the functionality of it. We use it pretty much every day.

We looked online and did some research on the company we were gonna choose from. My buddy Kevin lives down in Alabama and has some condos in Pensacola, Florida. He used Blue Haven down there for their pools. I had mine done by Blue Haven too. I have a gunite pool and it has a tanning ledge with some bubbles in it. The construction team was pretty good. We didn't have any issues from digging a hole to the rebar getting put in to the gunite getting sprayed in. The only problem we had was the flagstone guy that Blue Haven used.
The design was great but the ending result wasn't. It started off with the guy doing the flagstone that should have been two days to do but it took him two weeks. He was an older man and was working by himself. The flagstone was all screwed up. It was during rainy season and Bue Haven was backed up on orders. They were using anybody they could find. This guy they chose did a piss-poor job.
Everything that we talked to Blue Haven about fixing, they said they would take care of and that there were no worries. A couple weeks went by and we called backed and they asked the whole story all over again. We told them that they already came out here and looked at it. Why would they need to come out here and look at it again? They said they were gonna take care of it. It just went on and on. And then Jeff that's running the Blue Haven there in Flowood had someone come out there and redo some of the flagstones. The plaster had to be redone. The grout didn't match and it wasn't leveled. We went back and forth with that. That was the biggest thing at the end that I told the guy to just get off my property and I would fix my own flagstones.

My experience includes many of the elements of other reviews. The sales rep was smooth and seemed knowledgeable. The model looked amazing. A national company was reassuring. It took months after the deposit to dig. Long stretches of inactivity followed each subcontractor. Never got a detailed plan. The dimensions weren't what was agreed upon. 20x40 Grecian design in ground with heated spa and 1000' travertine. Contract in February 2020. Started digging April 30, 2020.
First off, let me say something positive. The main foreman, Mike, is a gem. Good communication and mannerisms. Good work ethic. I think he was overwhelmed with work due to the rush of contracts coming out of Covid-19. The subs were good for the most part. Excavation (once it got started 3 months into contract) went well. A few sprinkler pipes broken but the excavation sculpting was sharp. Gunite was interesting to watch, and none of it failed so far. Tilers were hit and miss; waterline was good, but spa tile needs improvement. Stone work sub is excellent and take pains for accuracy. Coping finally in place and it looks good. The decking isn't down yet, nor is the pool plastered. Lights aren't installed; walls and steps aren't finished.
So why 2 stars? Here's why: If you finance your pool and let the institution handle payment, they won't pay Blue Haven until each agreed upon phase is complete, inspected and approved. But, If you write the checks yourself, UNLIKE everywhere else in the construction and home improvement industry, Blue Haven requires you to pay them in advance of the work?! I don't know if you can haggle this out at contract, but if you don't know and don't ask, the word "At" is interpreted by every Blue Haven franchise that I called from coast to coast to mean if they show up to work - you give them a check before they start.
While it doesn't make sense, it seems that most folks have gone along with it. After all, it's a national company with a reputation to protect, right? Maybe. They seem good at apologizing when independent franchisees mess up or mess with people, but that doesn't cut down on the aggravation. Whether they will back up and fix what the franchisees mess up is to be seen.
Another thing is the way they measure pools. It broke my heart to read about the client who settled for a 12'x27' pool with a small sun shelf instead of a 16'x27' pool with a larger sun shelf because of what has to be an industry trick. Any bump out in your pool...even if it's 4 feet wide and 3-4 inches deep...COUNTS IN THE OVERALL DIMENSIONS OF YOUR POOL?! So you could pay for 4' x 27' of extra pool, but only get a 4'x8' puddle! Doesn't seem fair or right or...well...if you let them I guess it's legal? I say this with authority because it was happening to me with my build as well. THAT merits 2 stars...no matter how gorgeous the project turns out.
I've been fairly lucky so far in that my subs were decent, and until now my relationship with the franchise has been amicable with reasonably good response. Much better than the horror stories of other reviewers. Where it turned south is that, from the start, no specific definition of the word "At" has been given. Once "At" Phase 1 was complete, I sent a check without being asked. Once "AT" Phase 2 milepost was complete, I sent a check. Phase 3 is taking forever due to weather and Covid-19, but I've been patient. After all, I'm not going to have any pool parties on that 1000 sf of travertine with Covid-19 loose.
The problem is, all along I've been paying according to the CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY STANDARD - after the work has been done. The same schedule as any bank would have paid had I financed the loan. That's been going on for 6 months. But just over halfway through this decking phase, 30 days into it in fact, with no invoice, email or text asking for any payment...ever...I suddenly get bum rushed for the full payment for that ongoing scope of work UNDER THREAT OF A FULL STOP ON ALL WORK?!
Mind you we're months behind schedule, but I've already paid over 70% of the contract, and paying again now would give them over 95% of the contract price with...maybe 70% of the work done. So there's that preposition "At" which is supposed to modify something specific...but it doesn't. They've just...company-wide...decided that it means "BEFORE"; which is an entirely different preposition. "At" should specify "At beginning" or "At middle" or "At conclusion" or even "At high noon in the OK Corral", but it doesn't. So now after 6 months and 3 other "At" phases having gone by, they suddenly want to change the way we've been conducting business under threat of work stoppage.
That's why 2 Stars. One star for a great field foreman and 1 star for good subs, but no star for timeliness, no star for providing clear documentation, and no star for business etiquette. I had a choice of buying a Ferrari or putting in a nice pool. Probably overpaying for the pool, especially given the aggravation, but the pool should last longer and it won't get wrecked in a crash. Either way I was paying cash...just over $100k in cash. You'd think it was just a kiddie pool. With the Ferrari at least I'd get a set of keys and a working car and they'd get a check...same time.

The Blue Haven rep, Greg, is very professional and responds timely. We had some thoughts in mind in regard to the design of the pool and then Greg came back with the design and that was what we did. But the actual design pieces like the rockface and all the other pieces were all on me. My favorite is the back rock wall with the waterfalls. We spent a pretty penny on the pool and it was a little bit higher than I thought. You could see little holes in the grout and I could get picky with my eye on that kind of detail. But it is what it is. Nothing is perfect and I get it. Everything is going well with Blue Haven. We're still working with them on different things and we've yet to do our final. The pool designer was very helpful. He was very responsive to our needs. He was very detailed but too much detailed for us. He rambled and rambled on stuff. But he made a lot of suggestions, from just a kid's experience of his other clients. For example, my wife wanted a dark blue color in the pool. He said that was great but then he kinda explained why we shouldn't get a real deep blue color of the thing. So we went with another color and it was great. It was exactly what we needed. The project manager kept us up to date with the progress of the pool, which was great.
Right before the final plans were done, we made some modifications with the project with the designer. We bought a basketball court as part of the pool where it's drilled into the stone. But when the design was finalized, the basketball court moved and we didn't want it moved. When they built the pool, the basketball court was in the wrong place. We had to go through hoops and explained to them that they were the ones who screwed up on this. I told them that they have to go back to the original design. It was kind of a stressful situation because we were just moving to the house and then we had to deal with Blue Haven to explain to them that that was not right. The best way to design the pool was as a kidney bean and then they did a doggy step and a sun deck. The crew then came in, did the job, and left. There was no interaction, but they were good and they cleaned up well. Now, we have a pool and it gets everybody together. It's great family time.
