We got two shears, a feature wall, and the smart system. My husband does everything from his phone. We're so happy with the service. The kids and my husband were in the pool as much as they possibly could and were very happy. They're obsessed with it. As the pool got done, I was eight months pregnant. I plan on using it next summer when the baby's here. We have recommended Blue Haven to everyone we know.

It also has smart features and they come in handy when we're not there. It's nice to be able to pull up an app on your phone to double-check everything and make sure everything's in proper working order, and/or use the features from the phone. The app tells me the purification levels and I can put in the schedule and settings for the light and the pump.

During the construction, they wanted me to be there just in case to see how things go from the start. And one good thing is we were kind of close to a wall in the original setup phase. And luckily, I was there and was like, ""Hey, can we move this over as far as we can to the extremities of the property line so we could take advantage of a little more space in that corner, where we're not exiting the stairs, and then have it to almost touch a wall."" We were able to maximize the space for the decking and still take advantage of the space we had on the opposite side of the property on it.

Everything went well. They documented everything and we got a weekly check-in from our point person. He basically went out and was the liaison for the contractors. He could be there every day when they were actually doing the installation. They were good to do a follow-up and give an idea of how the process was going or what was coming up.

For the price, we got exactly what we wanted. And I think it would be comparable to other pool companies as well.

The installation went very smoothly. Blue Haven used different contractors to come out and do the different parts. I was so impressed with how much care and time they took. They weren't just trying to rush through it. They took their time and did a fantastic job. They really, really paid a lot of attention to detail. They started at the very end of May and we were swimming by the 4th of July. I like the tanning ledge of the pool. I like that we have a 4-foot-deep shallow end instead of 3 feet deep.

4th- the general contractor never came on site to supervise the build which contributed to many of our problems. My husband had to act as the supervisor to ensure all specs were followed. They left out several items we paid for included a drain next to our house and the umbrella mount. 5th- after 1 week the stucco on back of our waterfall cracked and had to be replaced with rock. 6th- an employee came on site to install a new part because we couldn’t get proper pressure and he left all valves open and turned on pumps without staying to monitor and it burnt up the main pump and pumped all water out of the pool before we came home at end of the day. Pump had to be replaced.

7th- they requested final payment and closed out our loan before job was completed and we had to take out a second loan which impacted our credit score and our interest rate to finish paying for the job. Lastly, we have not had our pool one year and the guinite has several stains and indentions occurring in the plaster. I’ve attempted several times to talk to Blue Haven amicably before leaving this review and the manager was extremely rude and noted that our contract does not warranty any plaster work. Read the fine print people. This company is shady and lacks customer service. As you can see we’ve had numerous issues. I would not recommend this company ever after what we’ve been through.

The entire experience was horrible. And if I could go back and do it again, I’d pick anyone over blue haven. Honestly, idk if I would be happy if I got a full refund at this point the experience was so bad and the work so crappy. Day one the salesman Nick lied straight to my face. He claimed they didn’t have any subs exact the electricians who supposedly only did work for blue haven. That’s a bold face lie. Basically nothing was done by a blue haven employee, and rarely was the project manager ever there to even check on things.

The project manager when he was there seemed over his head. Made promises that never came true about the work. And failed to communicate with us, blue haven and the subs. There were so many problems along the way. Finally after having to have the pool replastered(which we had to fight for) due to poor quality. We still have a low quality pool.

The new plaster although 100 times better than the first attempt, still looks like crap. And now my drain are full of plaster from the replaster. My grout and tiles look like crap. The pool electrical panels can’t fully open without hitting each other due to poor placement, my house is covered in concrete/gunite dust, my umbrella sleeves are not level so my umbrella leans and the list goes on and on. There really is so much to go into that I don’t want to even think about. I’m sure blue haven will say how much of pain of a customer I was. Shoot one of their employees even told me to my face that he tells everyone who comes to my house to do their best because I’m a “pain in the ass customer”. But all I asked for is what I was promised. And I didn’t get it.

Ultimately after they fixed the last leak I’ve stopped speaking to them because I’m honestly more tired of dealing with them than they are with me. And I’m tired of having to fix things they mess up when they come. I’ve debated even writing this review because I never want anything to do with their business again. But I want people to be educated. Idk who is a good pool builder in this area. But based off my experience with blue haven idk how they are still in business. Good luck to anyone in the market. I hope you have a better experience then we did and receive a better product no matter who you hire.

The pool design, including the Jacuzzi, is great with its design and function. The fire pit looks amazing and it’s very useful. The whole thing looks phenomenal and it’s easy to use. I love the pool. In fact, my wife’s brother was thinking of building one, and I recommended Blue Haven to him.

Then we found Scott with Blue Haven Pools & Spa. From our very first meeting, you earned our trust. As an engineer (and with my wife being an attorney), we tend to be skeptical. But your knowledge, experience, and professionalism stood out immediately—especially when it came to gunite construction. The project started promptly after the contract was signed. My wife reviewed it thoroughly and was impressed with how balanced it was, offering strong protections for us as homeowners. That gave us additional peace of mind. Construction moved quickly and smoothly, with work happening nearly every day—even weekends. And the surprises were good ones! The most impressive part of the process was your personal involvement. You didn’t just manage the build—you were present, engaged, and hands-on.

One example stands out: on dig day, after the equipment left, we saw you out in the street, personally cleaning up dirt that had come off the trailer. That kind of attention to detail spoke volumes about your commitment and pride in the work. Another moment that really stood out was Memorial Day weekend. You personally came by on Sunday to manually start the pool after it filled. Then, on Memorial Day itself, your team came out to set up the electronics, automation, and app on my phone. We never expected that level of dedication over a holiday weekend, and it made a lasting impression. Thank you for making this process fun, smooth, and even enjoyable. Working with Blue Haven’s designer was okay. However, there are some parts of it that I wish had been made a little clearer during that period. For instance, a water feature, the base little waterfall is an expensive option. There are things about it, like, it's really loud. I didn't expect that, which is okay ‘cause that's the only complaint.

During that planning time the part that was missing the most, was the impact of everything else that's gonna happen when they come in and dig a big hole in your backyard. But, other than that, the planning part was pretty good. We did the winter-over thing where they did most of the work and then you sit and watch it all winter. Then they opened it up in the spring. Our daughter lives with us. The three of us go swimming every chance we get in the afternoons. And that part's been really good.

If I had a complaint, it would be after the sale. There was basically no service. The answer that I got from the manager and everybody that I talked to was that, "It's a natural product. And things break and things don't work right.” I talked to them about three things that I thought were problems. The guy came and took a picture of it, went back, and got in his truck. And that was it. There was nothing.

For the amount of money that I put into their hands, I could have a brand new 911 Porsche delivered to my house. And they don't act that way. They act like they're selling crock pots, not Porsches. I had to go find people after the sale to fix the problems. As far as all that goes, I wouldn't do it again. If I did, I would probably go with one of the fiberglass pools because they're not sitting there, making excuses about them all the time. With the concrete things, that's what they do. But so far, it's working, I've been able to figure out any problems that I've had. When I get in my swimming pool, it really is wonderful.

There was one hiccup and it was not the pool company's fault. The municipality I live in is an absolute nightmare to deal with and they changed some rules about building code halfway through. It cost us a month. It was part of my scope of work and I was planning to just do it myself in an afternoon. Then, I found out that I needed to hire an engineer and an architect. It was a very simple pool equipment stand with 4 x 4 in the ground, 2 x 6 framing and 5 quarter x 6 deck boards and it needed to be engineered and approved by the town, which is insane.

Everything can be controlled from an app on my phone and like most phone apps, every several months, it has to be reset or updated. But once that's been done, it has worked relatively flawlessly. I'm in the building world and I’ve referred Blue Haven to multiple professional colleagues of mine since they've done my pool. It's a very invasive project to have people in your backyard working for literally months on end, with your entire yard completely torn apart and filled with mud. It's not a fun project to undertake at all but they did a good job. We use the pool a lot. Everybody with a new pool does. This will be our second summer with it, and my daughters are in it close to daily, as I am. My wife does not swim at all that often, but she likes it. And if she's happy with sitting next to it, that's good enough for me.

We have all the smart features we could get. We have autofill, lighting and heater. Everything is on the app. We have the auto aqua droid for cleaning on a timer and we can set the heater for the pool and spa. All we do weekly is clean the filter and add chlorine. We’ve been using the spa more because of cooler months, and now with the valley being hot, we’ve started using the pool. I’m still recovering from surgery, so I can’t swim yet, but I can walk around and lounge in the pool and spa.

Designing is not in Dominic's skill set and I needed more help with that, but I didn't have enough support. I don't think that could have come from the contractor. That needed to come more from the architect. In the end, I am happy, but I had a little anxiety and stress over it. During construction, the team moved fast. Maybe they gave me a timeline, and I wasn't ready, but they were great. Before it got cold in December, they said, "Let's get two weeks in just to dig it out," and then as soon as they were able to, they completed it in the spring. So, we were really happy with the timeline.

I gave them my vision of what I wanted. I put it out, setting it out with all the bells and whistles. Then I could go ahead and take away, that maybe it was just out of my price range, or I could just set it out the way I wanted it. But they came in with all my bells and whistles and still were within my price range.

As far as the construction and process, I have nothing to complain about. They were awesome. Brad was the lead. He was outstanding. He definitely did things that he didn't have to do, or questions. He handled everything very professionally. The guys who did all the blasting were outstanding, neat and clean. I really appreciated that.

The total project took four months. The only thing that held them up, and it wasn't their part, was Charleston County. They were the longest. But there was nothing that anybody could do about that.

I wanted a pool that had movement and shape. We live on a peninsula and we're surrounded by water. I wanted that as an overview. If somebody looks down from the top of my porch, the pool moved with the shape of the creek.

I also did the bubblers. I did the lights that had the capability of changing colors. It's all done by my cellphone and I really like that. And the swim platform, I love that too. They were also able to give me an additional seating out in the deep area, where my little grandchildren got in distress, they knew that they could go to the side wall and step up to get out.

Working with Blue Haven was great. We told the initial person who came out what we wanted. He was very nice and informative. Then we had a supervisor on the job, and we had the workers. Everybody was great. They were able to finish the job in a timely manner.

We always received alerts about when they were coming and what needed to be done. If something had to be changed, he called us right away. It was never a problem. The renovation took about six weeks. We had started it in April and finished by Memorial Day.

Blue Haven told us how long the project would take, and they actually beat the time frame. They were very good. Our superintendent, Jay, was incredible and always let us know what to expect. Aside from weather delays a few times, everything happened exactly the way they said it would. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience, especially with construction, since that’s usually a pain. They made it very easy for us.
