Everett ** not only was patient and professional enough to endure 2 days of questioning, but also knowing that I have already signed up a contract with the competition, he still took the time to answer all my questions and walked me through the several scenarios I presented. At the end, I decided to cancel my previously signed agreement and come to the AFC family. I’m rating 4 stars for coverage and value as this is TBD for me at this point (I haven’t had the need yet).

I got AFC Home Club's reps and they let me know what was and what wouldn't be under my warranty. They also told me how I would get by if I needed some assistance. They were very informative and let me know why they were calling. They made me feel at ease knowing that if something happens, I could get it fixed.

AFC Home Club's pricing was similar to other warranties that I had been using prior. I made a phone call to them and their reps asked me a series of questions and sent a price proposal. I went with them and submitting claims has been horrible thus far. I called to place a claim and I would not hear anything back. I would call and their reps would say that they can't find anyone to come and help me. I made two phone calls and got someone out within an hour and had to pay for service. I had to file a claim with them after. So far, I've filed two claims with AFC and not once were they able to find anyone to come help me because they are such a poor company to work with.
There was an issue with my sink one time and they told me that they found someone who would come to my place a week and a half from then. I told them I was hand-pailing water out of my sink and I needed someone out that day. Each time I said that, the reps would tell me that they were calling people but cannot find anyone to come. When I call with a problem, I expect someone to come out, especially if it’s an emergency. In both cases, my issues were emergencies and I couldn’t wait a week and a half. The reps didn’t call me back to let me know they were still looking. They didn’t give me a status or claim number either. I carry a home warranty 'cause I want to have peace of mind. I didn't have that with AFC. I got the most horrible customer service experience which is why I found another company.

There's a lot of stuff that is not covered, and I would like it to be covered. But other than that, AFC is okay. As far as the contractors, some of them are pretty good and some of them are not. I have called and all customer service reps are very nice and very courteous. They respond to the claims in a really small period of time. But I would like to see more stuff to be covered. We just got something declined. I have many houses with AFC. I have several properties with them, and I am renting them out. On Friday, my tenant called and they told them it's not covered, but it was a pipe.

I needed a pluming service. Their service was fast and exact. My problem was solved so fast. They are so systematic. They followed the every step. It was easy and so convenient. I really appreciate it.

Scheduled a refrigerator repair. I receive a technician that is taking him about a month to repair and still trying to figure out what is wrong with. Meanwhile I have been unable to purchase groceries and what is purchase ends up getting spoiled within a couple days.
We apologize for the inconvenience. The technician advised us that a repair could be made which was approved in full less than 3 days after the failure occurred. He stated he has been back to the home several times and at this point, he cannot fix the unit and it needs to be replaced. We approved the initial amount towards the replacement. As soon as you called us on 5/11/2020 and advised there was an issue we authorized the repair allowance to be reconstructed to the replacement allowance and reached out to the tech as stated above.
Please be aware if you are having any issues we would need to be informed. Once approval is made the case is closed unless you advise that there is still an ongoing issue in your home. You advised us of the on 5/11/2020 almost 1 month later there was still an issue, as soon as that was done we reached out to the technician. Since you are the homeowner you still have to let us know if you need assistance since we are not in the residence. Hopefully, this clears up any confusion on the matter. AFC was offering the products at the price that I was looking for compared to the other companies. Sighing up was pretty seamless and it wasn’t difficult. I submitted a couple of claims and they were all fairly easy to process. I’m satisfied with the contractors who came out too. All the jobs were done fine and they were of good quality. Also, whoever deals with the customer follow up and completing the enrollment process were very responsive and they followed up in a timely manner.

I was looking at the idea of getting AFC because I’ve been in my house for 20 years. I thought that some appliance might be going bad and I was worried about my furnace. I also see them on television, so I went online to select which company because there is a lot of them. I looked at the reviews and the ratings, and i judged it based on what I read online and reviews of different companies
I have a claim and I have mixed feelings about it and how it was handled. I’m not exactly satisfied, but the one lady who jumped in at least offered me a little bit of money. I’ve already committed to two years, and I wish I didn’t because I’m not sure. I went over the fine print, and, maybe, I didn't read it carefully enough, but there was too many exemptions for what they cover. I'm concerned now as other things go out, they seem to have a way to get out of covering it. My dishwasher went out. I live 30 miles out of Seattle, so they couldn’t find anybody to come service it. So, they said that if I could find somebody to go, it would be great and that they would pay for it.
But then, they told me, once I found somebody, I have to pay it and then I send them the invoice, and they will pay me. I said, “Wait a minute. So, now, I’m out of pocket, waiting for you guys to process my money after you're supposed to send a repair person? You couldn’t find anybody, so now, I have to do all the work?” And, I did it. The guy came out and because of where I live, they charged me a fee to come out that far from Seattle. He then started working on it and he said, “Yeah, this is controls.” So, he called and he checked on it. That part, however, is no longer available, so he had to replace the dishwasher.
When I called the AFC about the claim, they said, “We don't cover it if that goes down on it.” They said that if the control went bad, they wouldn't cover that. They don't cover this, they don't cover that. I then asked, “So, in other words, you're really not covering anything?” I also said that when the sales guys told me the pitch about signing up, he never mentioned all these exemptions. They said I should have read what they sent me about all the exemptions after I paid and committed over online. When I called to get my first claim, they did not want to give me anything.
So, now I’m concerned if the furnace goes. I get my furnace serviced, and they said, “That is required to keep your policy,” which I do anyway. But the fact that there are so many exemptions now tells me this is a scam. Because it has to be under a certain reason it goes out to be replaced. So, I get a kick when I watch the ads on TV now for other companies and they go, “What happens if this goes out? You better get the policy. You better get coverage. This would cost you a fortune.”
The heating element burnt up and you cans see it through the plastic covering on it. The repair guys said, “What happened to you is the most common thing that goes wrong with it.” So, I have the most common issue, and it is something that the warranty company does not cover. So, now, I got a furnace that is going to cost me a lot of money, which was the main reason I wanted to do it, and I’m sure it won’t get covered. I have to find a service company that is going to have to tell somebody the reason it went out is because it is something they cover. Otherwise, I’d have no coverage. I’m paying monthly for something I’m not getting, so I’m an unhappy customer.
Nevertheless, when I called the company to complain, I got a supervisor. I gave her the credit that she apologized. She tried to make excuses, but she at least offered me 150 bucks. Not a lot compared to what I had to pay, $1,000 for the dishwasher to replace it. And I had to pay the service fee because they didn’t even pay that. It took me two months to get my check, which I got yesterday. I would chalk it up to bad experience and to me being naive. I, probably, will not renew when that thing is up because I don't think it covers enough things. And I think that they sold me a bill of goods without telling me anything. They should tell me these exemptions, not just in fine print in the contract before anything arrives. They are not transparent, and waiting for my check costs me more than the check.
I'm in this deal for two years, and then during this virus time, nothing was open. I am not going to buy the dishwasher online. And, nobody could come out and install it for a long time because they were backed up and had nobody able to service it. So, I went a couple months without a dishwasher and a couple months paying $50 to continue but there is no coverage. If people ask me about signing up for it, whether it’d be this company or any other company like it, I'd go, “Well, welcome to the club.” The government should check into these. It is a scam. Nobody tells you upfront. If it's upfront, and they tell me the things, then I can better judge whether I want to still risk it.

America's 1st Choice Home Club provided the best package to me. I went with them and last year, I had one claim that went well. Submitting the claim and getting paid was very easy. They met the terms of our agreement and they did so without any hassle. They sent me a check directly and it was a good experience. I put my home warranty contract out for bidding again this year and I ended up renewing with them because they offered the best terms again. They also provide a good experience both in terms of my account manager and account rep. I appreciate that AFC makes things very easy.

When I had Old Republic in California, they were wonderful. I had two homes over there. The first one I had for 27 years. The one before I moved to Arizona, I had for 15 years. I was very happy with them. And so, when I came here, I had that but I wasn’t happy with them. They were checking who they were coming with. So then I went to another one and my water heater broke down. It took four days with me not having a water heater before I went out and bought my own water heater and hired a handyman to come in and put it in. So I dropped them immediately.
And then I saw the advertising with 1st Choice, and I had a repair person from Sears come in and we got into a conversation about it. He told me that he had 1st Choice, he had them for four years when he moved here, and he was happy with them. I called them and I’m happy with them. Their rep said, “If you had any problems, call me,” wherein the other one I had never did that.
My laundry room sink was leaking and my bathroom pump was broken. There was nothing major. The contractor came out. What I also liked about AFC was it was one payment for two services. The other two had a payment for each service. One was $60 service, the other one was $65 a service. When I had the other one, I said, “I’d like to get my air conditioners checked.” They charged me per conditioner so that was $120. AFC charged me a service for the both of them and it was only $65. I asked, “How do you handle that?” And the rep said, “You only get one service charge for both air conditioners.” So I signed up.
I told them, “Well, it’s my understanding that if my refrigerator breaks down that you’ll replace it with a brand new one.” And the rep said, “Well, that’s not necessarily true.” He said what other companies do is they replace it, but they do it either with a refurbished one or something that’s been in stock. They might tell me, "Okay, we’re gonna send you one," and that might be a white one or a yellow one. And I have to accept it. What he said made a lot of sense. He said, “What we’ll do is we’ll offer you money to replace it.” And I said, “Well, that’s fair too.” As long as they hold up to the agreement, I’m fine with it. The rep gave me a lot of information. I was very pleased with that. AFC satisfied my needs the first time I used them. I recommended them to one of my neighbors.

Providers very responsive and professional. The Service center experience needs work as there were too many transfers and wait time to speak with someone. This may be due to shortages because of virus so will give benefit of doubt.

I like being able to choose my own service repairman with AFC Home Club. Their pricing for what they include seems to be pretty fair too. But their turnaround time on replacements or anything like that is poor and needs improvement. Initially, it’s fine. My challenge is they don’t have good follow-ups. Once a ticket is open, most of the conversations end with, “We need to check with this department and get back to you.” That’s fine. But generally, I find myself two to three days later calling to follow up to say I haven’t heard back.
The challenge is initially when you sign up for the service, they tell you that you get someone who is like your account representative. But that hasn’t been the case. I talk to multiple people so the feedback isn’t consistent. Generally, they would tell me to hold on as they have to find the notes because they're new there or new to the claim and then one person will say one thing. The customer service is only as good as the last note put in the file. If someone doesn’t notate the account accurately, then I find myself having to go back and saying, “Nope. I spoke to this person in this department on this day and this is what they said. I need you to check with them.” It’s a bit tedious. I communicated to them that I should be able to call in and get the same answer, regardless of who I speak to.

I contacted AFC to get quote for my home appliances and heating system. I received one instantly with a follow up call from Patrick and an email. I waited to go through my options and called the following morning and had all of my questions answered. I am pleased with the customer service I’ve received so far and Patrick’s manager made this decision very easy. The pricing, plans and deductibles are straightforward. The downside is they do not have a mobile app but they do have an online portal for service requiring 24/7.

I bought a new home then I did some research and it seemed like AFC was a good option. It’s mostly all online. But I’ve called a few times because sometimes it’s easier. Filing a claim is an easy process. They usually get everything scheduled like a technician to come out within the next couple of days so it’s pretty fast. Recently, I’ve had an issue with a refrigerator and it needed to be replaced. I also had an issue with my washing machine. It broke.
In both cases, AFC got a rep or a contractor out pretty quickly. In the refrigerator case, we weren’t able to salvage it, so they offered me a payout. That was kind of a plus. However, I only got the payment five months after. I don’t know if that’s the norm. I had gotten my new refrigerator and I forgot about the reimbursement ‘cause it wasn’t very much. I had to follow up with them a few times on that. The should have clear communication when they’re going to reimburse. I also didn’t like their e-check processes through an email. But other than that, it’s been pretty good.

The year ended in April and sometime in March, someone reached out to ask if we would be interested in extending the coverage. We ended up choosing to extend for three years. The rep, Katie, was pretty nice. She answered my questions. I didn’t feel she was deceptive in any manner. To me, it was a call I got and selling a warranty, I'm sure others had personal experiences where warranties are not actually what they present to be. The rep was rather transparent and even pointed out things such as that if your air conditioning and heating is covered, but you do need to get it serviced, then she said service is really simple to do, but if you file a claim and ask for a service record from the prior 12 months and you can show no record that you’ve maintained the system, your claim could be in jeopardy.
She also pointed out that certain items have caps and little caveats to it so I felt I was more informed and made it seem more realistic because I didn’t believe that if something broke, they would just say, "Here’s a check to buy a $10,000 refrigerator." She said there are caps and she was happy to explain what those were. And if the appliance is 15 years old, they would not cover a brand new one. There is a prorated thing. I felt it was fair.

I had some hesitancy with AFC. I wasn’t quite happy with the results of some services. I’ve requested services for a heating unit, and I did get the services. I paid out of pocket on some things and was trying to see about reimbursement of the funds, but they explained their policies in parts and equipment that they didn’t cover and some other thing that I felt should have been covered under the warranty. It was an emergency. I have kids in the house and the temperature was really low and I didn’t have any heat. So I called someone immediately and they came out.
When they came out, I called America's 1st Choice Home Club as soon as they got here, to say, “Hey, I had to order and had to get somebody in here soon. The temperature’s cold. How will this process work since I called my own person?” So they explained they would have them go ahead and do the work. And then, “Once you get the diagnostics, then fax over to us what it is, what it’s gonna cost. Then we’ll go from there.” Then there was an exchange between AFC and the actual contractor. The tech didn’t tell me initially that he wasn’t with AFC and I didn’t ask. I just asked if he accepted home warranties and he said yes. They came to some type of agreement that they would pay the services, but he couldn't accept the money so then I had to try and see if AFC would refund me the money that I paid him. Then it came up that they wouldn’t cover the equipment.
I sent over the diagnostics before I paid him. And the AFC rep told me that they didn’t cover the panel on the heater. So if I paid him, I would have to pay for the services. However, the panel itself was the result of a previous contractor that came out and looked at the same thing and AFC paid him. So then, I got stuck with paying this guy $350. And then I did an appeal with AFC. They still came back and said the work he did was for the panel that’s not covered under the contract. So, I'm out of $350. I need a new panel now, but AFC won’t cover it so I have to bite the bullet to buy. And all this is the result of when the first person came out. That was a mess and I was really disappointed and unhappy with the service. I can call AFC and they would get someone out here right away. I just hope that, in the future, if there are emergency situations such as this, that they would assist the customer. I wasn’t happy with the customer service.

My house is pretty new so for the most part, things should not be malfunctioning. But we never know, so having the peace of mind that at a cost that I can afford on a yearly basis, I can rely on having the AFC warranty in reach. It’s what made me decide to go with insurance. The other thing that was really critical for me is whether I would have to automatically be choosing the technicians that they would provide, or if I have a choice in choosing my own technician, and then the overall cost. Recently, our dryer was malfunctioning. I called and they were able to get somebody in a fairly timely manner. The technician was courteous and good. He was able to identify and fix the problem.

I had American Home Shield for about 10 or 12 years. They got to where they weren't doing as well as they were. I changed to AFC Home Club and in the two years I've been with them, I've been satisfied with their service. I got their premium package that covers close to everything. My refrigerator had a serious malfunction one time. I called them and I got a lady who was really helpful. They gave me a settlement amount and I got a new refrigerator.

I was transferred to AFC by a company who looks for the best coverage with a good competitive monthly fee. I spoke with Randy, who listened to and HEARD what I was saying and gave me an acceptable monthly rate. Randy seems to be a very customer service oriented man with a desire to work on issues in the home. Let’s see how this plays out over the first 12 months!

I liked what AFC stood for and that they were one of the bigger companies. We bought it discussing we're gonna replace the hot water heater and the air conditioner soon. Recently, the fridge stopped working. It was getting water into the freezer. Submitting the claim was very painless. I mentioned it to the guy that sold it to me and he had me call it in. But because I was doing it through my own contractor, I submitted everything online then they called me.
Unfortunately, they had to reschedule to put the fan in a couple times. Our original contractor checked out the fridge on Friday then turned around. His mom got exposed to the virus so he could no longer come out. The other guy was booked. They called me right away and asked what was going on. They kept in contact with us, which was great. Both contractors were wonderful. What they found out was the fan in the freezer wasn't working. It wasn't thawing out the freezer like it was supposed to. It fried out the fan motor and once that was replaced, we've had no problems with the fridge. We were very fortunate we had AFC. Everything's been perfect with them. I love them and I've already referred them to quite a few people.

I used AFC last year for my home warranty. I just renewed so this will be year number two. Renewing was as easy as a phone call and they just renewed it right away. Also, doing it initially was a pretty easy process. I had to call a busted pipe and I called them and had them refer a plumber to come out and do it. It was a $60 fee, and it was great.

Initial set up with the company. Spoke to and went with the Gold plan with Randy. He was very knowledgeable and went over different programs. Now the initial set up was good. Talk to me after I need to make my first claim and how things go with the company and all the contractors and then I will give you my honest opinion of the overall company. Until then I have no nothing bad to say. So far so good!

I had a problem with the plumbing. The water shutoff valves were leaking. And I called AFC because I realized that I had the warranty. There was a miscommunication. At first, I was told that I didn’t qualify for any kind of assistance. And then, I looked at the contract, and it was two of them, I noticed that there was a discrepancy as one said there’s no waiting period to claim for anything and then the other one said there was a 30-day waiting period. I had to email back and asked which one was correct because those two are speaking a different language. And then after that I got a call back saying that they were going to reimburse me, but only for 150. It wasn’t really smooth.

I was looking for a place that would be responsive, reliable, and that will provide good service. I ended up with America's 1st Choice. I had a home warranty before. If you maintain your appliances and everything, a warranty is good to have so you can also save some money. I haven’t used AFC's service that much. I used it when they changed the thermostat in my heating and I was pleased the first time I used the service.
The second time was right around Thanksgiving when my stove wasn’t working. They told me that if it was self-cleaning, they were not gonna come and see it. I told them I never use the self-cleaning feature on it and they still said they were not gonna come and see it. I asked how they could make a diagnosis without even sending someone to look at it. All I was asking was for someone to come and determine what the issue was.
It had nothing to do with the self-cleaning. It was just something that they said was not replaceable. They ended up giving me some money to purchase a new stove which at that point I was okay with it. But it was a turnoff and I almost didn’t renew my contract with AFC this year because of that. I understand things break and nothing lasts forever. But I didn’t appreciate for someone to just say they were not gonna work on that when they didn’t even know what the problem was. They were making assumptions. I ended up having to talk to a supervisor before they agreed to send a technician. The only reason they replaced the unit was because they said the model was not made anymore.
I renewed with AFC and I haven’t had the need to use it. Hopefully, nothing will break. But if something does break and depending on what kind of service I get, I will determine whether or not I will keep my contract with AFC or switch for another one. Hopefully, I will get the services because that’s the whole purpose of having a home warranty.
There are so many companies and I used to have another company. The reason I switched was AFC was cheaper. I’m not someone that calls all the time for something. I maintain my appliances. I’m paying them. I get the check for my furnace and my AC. But I wasn’t satisfied because when I had something that broke down, the warranty company was supposed to send a technician but they stood me up twice. That was why I didn’t renew with them at all anymore. With AFC, I called to renew and I told the person the only thing that I was not pleased with which was someone telling me they won’t fix something and it was without a diagnosis.

I appreciate the help and support and pray to be with this company for a long time, as long as the monthly rate/service fee doesn't change. Spoke with Luke, who provided information about AHC and answered all my questions and concerns. David spoke with both my husband and me in the evening for about 40 minutes. He also answered all the questions about the contract and coverages without pressuring us to make a decision. This morning we decided to contract with AHC.

Dave was great. Explained everything. I hope we never need the policy but the Platinum is the way to go. If you need to snake a drain or replace an appliance in 3 years this plan will cover its cost. Plus the work is guaranteed for the life of the contract. How can you go wrong.

My account rep was exceptional. Extremely personable and warm, yet highly professional. Preston was able to answer all my questions and worked with me to customize the coverage we needed. We were especially pleased with the option to select our own technician and their service guarantee. Mr. **'s customer service is exemplary. I called just to check how long my coverage still as I wasn't sure..so I can find me another company for home insurance. For 3 yrs. I only called twice...and the 2and one was denied. That's why I'm not happy. Talking with Mr. ** had change my mind about looking for another insurance. So I signed up again for another 3 yrs. Don't know how it happened but your agent answered the phone & very politely & Professionally answered all my questions. It would be a good idea if you give a free first month service as an incentive. I do hope the service is as great as you mention. You did make a mistake on our contract. Despite buying a 3-year contract for two separate houses, never missing a monthly fee, and performing all required yearly maintenance, AFC would not pay for the repairs required on my home air-conditioner unit. Their reasoning for refusing to pay was because the AC system was too old, despite it only being 10yrs, 3mo old. The initial manufacturer's warranty is 10 years, so I bought this home warranty to cover the system after that had lapsed. I am very dissatisfied, and wish I could receive a refund for the fees paid to this sham company.

I was with American Home Shield (AHS) for a while and decided to switch companies after my rates with AHS went up. I shopped around and after reading reviews and stuff, settled AFC. They gave me a a good rate in terms of service request and annual fees. However, my very first request about cooktop service took about 3 months. I had to pay a technician from my own pocket to come and diagnose the problem after AFC initially denied the request saying it was not covered under warranty. However, after the technician diagnosed the issue to electrical problems; which was in fact covered under my warranty, I had to call AFC and submit a receipt.
Finally they agreed to cover about 50% of the cost. That was when I decided to call it quits. I sent them a letter requesting them to cancel my membership. They did cancel my membership but only after deducting the amount that was paid towards my service request. So all in all, it means as long as you don't use their service, you can cancel your membership without any penalty but if you have used their services and then decide to cancel, all the money they paid towards any kind of services will be deducted from the final reimbursement amount. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST INSURANCE COMPANY!

Updated on 04/16/2020: AFC did not contact the plumber as they stated they would. They also did not contact me to inform me of their decision not to contact him. When I contacted my preferred plumber, he stated he hadn’t heard from AFC. I called AFC; they informed me they didn’t call him due to the stay-at-home order. I informed AFC the plumber and I understand the order, but the plumber wants to come fix our broken pipe anyway; if not, we would not have a usable bathroom. Had AFC contacted either the plumber or me, we would have told AFC we had already spoke and he his intention to fix the pipe because repairs are considered essential during the pandemic.
Original Review: We had a shower/tub drain pipe break. AFC was understanding of our need to get this fixed quickly, especially during a difficult time with this COVID-19 under way. We worked together to get a great plumber to take care of the issue and settled everything seamlessly. We are definitely happy to have AFC on our side.

I found AFC after I fired American Home Shield and I've had them for two or three years now. The application process was easy. The most recent claim we had was for our dishwasher. It took a dump and I called AFC and told them about it. They said they would have somebody come fix it, but I live out in the sticks so they couldn't find anybody to come fix it. They sent me a check for the cost of a new one so I bought a new one and put it in. The whole process took three weeks or so. Everybody has been good and I like that I get my stuff fixed when it breaks.

My manager told me it would be covered. And now the plumber was out this morning and he couldn’t get approval. I’m ready to cancel my service.

Overall very disappointed with the AFC and the handling of my service call. The appliance company they put me in contact with was difficult to contact and when I would request status updates, AFC would say they were waiting on a response from the technicians. So I would contact the technician and they reported that they had spoken with AFC multiple times that day regarding the results. So the entire time AFC and the technicians are assumedly hashing out the details, I’m stuck waiting with a broken dishwasher. It’s been over 1 week since I submitted the service order and I still have a broken dishwasher. And today is Friday so I imagine that they will not dispatch the technician to fix my dishwasher until next week. So I get to look forward to a weekend with no dishwasher. Overall I will not be renewing my membership with AFC due to the sloth-like speed of total case resolution. (Which my case is still not resolved).

AFC gave approval for the cost of repair the same day the technician called in diagnosis. We understand your frustrations as we feel the same way. Unfortunately, we cannot control the technicians as they are 3rd party vendors but we have recorded calls and emails of us following up to schedule with the tech and we received and approved the repair on 3/18 the day after they were at your home.
Being that they are 3rd party we do not make their schedule and they do have other customers scheduled. What we can do is follow up with them and you as we have to the best of our ability daily. Per the technician, the parts were ordered directly from the manufacturer which can also take some time no matter which technician comes to your home. Something to keep in mind is we do allow you to obtain your own technician if you desire. Hopefully, this helps and we apologize for the delay with the tech.

There was a misunderstanding when I had an electrical issue. The first guy misinterpreted what I was saying. There was an issue with the refrigerator and the bulbs went out at the same time. I understand that bulbs aren't covered, but if they all go out at the same time, it seems like there might be a connection with the refrigerator. So the contractor came out and took a look at it and turned out to be there was something wrong with the motherboard. The first time, AFC sent an electrician who was not certified to fix the refrigerator. So they sent somebody else out and there was another gentleman who was able to take care of changing the motherboard.
The contractors were great. I had a little bit of an issue with trying to get the second person to come out because they were gonna charge me for the second person to come out, even though when I called, I thought there was an electrical problem with the refrigerator. But they ended up waiving the fee. So it still worked out in the end. It was a minor inconvenience. I've had three claims with AFC and two out of them were okay. One of them was denied. The other one was for a dryer and it turned out the dryer was too old so they gave me money toward buying a new one.

They left us without hot water for NINE DAYS! After 3 days, they sent a plumber to deal with an electric hot water heater, even though I told them something had tripped the breaker TWICE. They could have sent the technician who actually was capable of fixing the problem instead, but they didn’t want to pay his travel fee. They did EVENTUALLY pay the travel fee FIVE DAYS LATER! In the meantime, they left a single mother, with an autistic child they knew needed a hot bath every night to sleep, without hot water! AFC Home Club is a scam! They sold me a policy they KNEW they couldn’t service, due to having NO in-network technicians in my town. They are not concerned with customers. They only care about their bottom line! I have asked to speak to a supervisor for the last 2 days. They haven’t bothered to call me.

I was able to call on 2/26, put a work order in and call back to cancel but call back today to get told I am not authorized. We chose AFC because of the customizable options. You can add or subtract for any appliance you may or may not have, to include garages, pools, septic systems etc. And this is the only plan we have found that will let you choose your own repair person or company. You do not have to settle for whomever they call. Just pay the $75 service fee, send AFC the bill, and they pay your repair person! We also found AFC prices were better than any other home warranty prices, by far!

Discovered a plumbing leak on a Friday afternoon. I called AFC. In sticking with their policy I did not hear from anyone until the next business day, which was a Monday. By then the residual damage was mounting up and I had to call the authorized service provider instead of them calling me. The service provider was friendly and AFC did actual authorize the repair which, in my nearly 3 years of experience with them, is rare. I will not be renewing my contract with AFC.
As no home warranty can be an emergency service we are the only ones that allow you to obtain your own technician, with this we hope to stop any underlying damage that may be caused. Thank you for your feedback on your experience.

I was doing some shopping two years ago when my home warranty that I had, the insurance policy, was up. That home warranty was also ridiculous and I wasn’t happy with their service. That was when I got to America’s 1st Home Club. I'm in my second year with them now. I had a garbage disposal claim and I had to prompt the office to send me the $125 check, but I had given them three weeks of business days. I was told that I was gonna get $125 to go towards the purchase and installation of a new garbage disposal. So, it was easy. I filled out the online form, and I had thought that the turnaround time would be no more than two weeks, but it was over four weeks. I prompted them and they said it was coming and they would email it to me. It did come through.
My husband was surprised that the policy did not cover the replacement of a garbage disposal. He thought that there should be a policy to replace it of equal quality in the policy. The installation was extra, about 100. Even with the warranty, we had to come out of pocket. And we had to pay for the visit of 75, and then the tech said, “No, we gotta replace the garbage disposal.” We paid for the garbage disposal and then 75 in addition to the plumber installing the garbage disposal. But it wasn’t worthy of complaining. There was a dryer repair that they sent somebody there, and they did a good job. We called and that was a $75 visit. The contractor gotta order a part and it was done. I don’t think we paid a 75 the second time, but when the part came, the tech did a very good job, and the clothes dryer is doing fine.

I’ve had American home warranty for three years since moving into this home. They didn’t cover more things than what they covered & sometimes it was weeks before I would get the problem resolved or a contractor out here - even to do a preliminary assessment. Over the years I had a harder and harder time communicating with the people that were answering the telephone. Within two seconds of filling out your online form Everett was calling me. I have never had such great customer service in all my life! Everett is knowledgeable & courteous. He is a wonderful representation of your company. I hope you can keep him for a long long time.

I had my annual check-up for the heating. The techs discovered some problems and so I called to file a claim. It sounded like AFC didn't cover it but they said they deem the heating system unsafe to use. I haven't gotten back with them yet but I got an email that said to have techs come out, replace or repair the unit, send them a paid invoice and they would let me know if it was covered. But I don’t wanna go in and pay for something then they will tell me it’s not covered.

I was buying an older home, and I wanted to ensure that my stuff was taken care of. It was four years ago when I first signed up with America's 1st Choice. They were the cheaper one for the coverage at the time. I called them up and did everything online. But the renewal process didn't go smoothly. I paid to renew and I never used it in the first three-year contract, and I had a lot of difficulty getting hard copies of my policy. The person I talked to at the time when I renewed and requested a hard copy of the information multiple times never provided until I finally called when I did have an issue.
The plan seems reasonable. I paid for six years and I’ve used it once out of four years. So, I haven’t gotten anything out of it than peace of mind of knowing my stuff’s covered if I go through the proper procedures. I wish I had had the information beforehand so I would know everything that had to be done so I didn’t make a few minor mistakes. When they had come out, the technician was supposed to get approval to make repairs before they’d actually do it. But they just repaired it and went on. Other than that, so far, with my experience, it’s okay. I was satisfied with the one call I had.

This is the best pricing out there for a fully comprehensive home warranty plan. The salesman discussed what was covered and gave me the lowest price they could. The salesman took the time to listen to my warranty and pricing needs. He came up with the best plan for me. After reading terms of the contract and finding them to be reasonable to the best of my understanding I believe this is a good fit for me. I read the complaints and found that they were responded to promptly and in accordance with the terms of the contract. Often they went beyond those terms to help people out. When you read complaints, also read the responses and see how the company resolved the complaint. I was impressed.

America's First Choice is a little expensive. For every occurrence, I have to pay $75. But the contractors are good. I have made only one request so far, which is also not done yet. That’s because maybe I made that request initially on my 60 days trial period. So, I had to do a lot of other things. The latest time the contractor came in, he said there is no valve to the gas pipe so he cannot do anything because there is no valve to shut off the gas. He could shut off the gas with the wrench, but he claimed that he did not have any valve to shut off the gas. This home is about 25 years old. If I have to put the valve, I have to spend more money.

It takes too long for your company to get a support person on the phone for the homeowner and once the tech arrives at the homeowners they go through the same process, about 40 minutes into the tech. (plumber, electrician whoever) to start repairing fixing the homeowners problem.
We apologize for the hold time, normally we have no longer than a 3-minute hold time. Upon review, there was a 15 minute hold time while our representative sought out immediate managerial approval for the request. Commonly that would have been a callback but since the work could be done at that time we did not want the technician to have to make a second trip out. We are sorry that the hold was inconvenient and will work to make sure these are shorter.

America’s 1st Choice sent a plumber to my house who identified that the issue was a problem with the recirculation pump, that he would have to order the part, but he needed to get approval from the warranty company, which was understandable. He made it sound like it would be no problem and that it was gonna get approved. Then we kinda had preapproved it with the warranty company because I said my recirculation pump looked like it went out and that was supposedly covered.
I didn’t follow up right away, but a week later I had not heard from anybody. I called the plumber and I said that I was checking to see when the part was gonna be in and that we were without hot water. The plumber said, “I called the home warranty company and told them that we couldn’t work on it because it’s a recirculation pump on a tankless, and we don’t work on that, so they were gonna assign it to somebody else.” The ball got dropped because I never got that information. America’s 1st Choice's communication could have been improved. Human errors happen, but if it keeps happening then that would be a problem. Also, they were not able to find a plumber that could take care of the problem and we got one on our own. And we have been waiting to get reimbursed.

I open my 1st ticket with AFC due to my washing machine not washing. That 1st tech that came out basically listened to the spin cycles and told me it was not spinning on the highest level. Beyond that all he did was bad talk my Samsung washer and dryer. He made it clear that he did not like Samsung brand washer and dryer and bad talked it the whole time. Told me he will get back with me and never did.
When I contacted back to AFC in regards to it still not working they re opened a ticket. the same contractor emailed me and I told him I availability. They never called and never showed up. AFC kept calling, so I called them back when I got in town to make them aware of the issue and I told them I prefer to have a different company come out I was told I would not have another service fee.
The next tech was almost as shady. And now just yesterday being told by AFC that I owe them $75 for having them come back out and asking for a different tech. I was not told that when I reopened the ticket. I was told differently. And still my washer is not fixed and the 2nd ticket I opened for the microwave still not fixed. Both techs basically told AFC that my items were completed that nothing's wrong but the 2nd tech that came out told me it was not spinning on the high cycle and that computer may be gone and that the microwave had a short in the computer as well. I regret signing up for AFC. I'm still waiting for the manager to call back today after she listened to the recording calls to see if their rep told me there was no service fee since the rep did not note take that to the account.

America's 1st Choice application process was pretty easy. When I researching different warranty companies, I called them and told them what I needed. They called me back, set up an appointment and came out. When my heating system wasn’t coming on, I filed a claim and someone came out in about two days. He was very polite and solved the problem within 30 minutes on the same day. It was my first time using America's 1st Choice and everything was wonderful.

I had another home club, but they had quit selling policies in Oklahoma. So, I searched for another company and saw AFC Home Club. I went with them because they covered more items. When I used it, the guy who came out was nice and he did a good job. The belt on the dryer drum broke and there was another piece that was loose that caused the belt to break, and he fixed those. He also left me a card.

I researched and I liked America’s 1st Choice Home Club better. I looked at the entire thing and it was best for our needs. I did the application online and then, I spoke with a representative who was very helpful. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and a good people person. He went all out and explained everything very well. I picked an option and then I told him exactly what I needed. I’ve had AFC for a year and I’m very satisfied. We've had a couple of claims last year and I gotta look at something else too and compare to see which one to call. But otherwise, we're very happy.

This is my second term with America’s First Choice. I had it for three years prior and I just renewed. Their customer service reps are fine. Theirs claims process was a little lengthy, but they ended up coming through. With my claim on a pool pump, I had to go buy it outright and then submit the claim. It took time to get the check back.

My most recent claim with AFC Home Club went okay. The first repair person that showed up didn't really understand what he was doing. So, it took a lot longer than I thought it should have. The second guy who showed up knew right away what the problem was and was able to order the part, and as soon as he came, it got fixed. It was for a wobbly fan motor and the claim has been open for about three and a half weeks. I would have liked them to have somebody else come look at it quicker.
We apologize that we needed to reschedule the tech, this can cause delays but we understand the strain this can put on our members. Due to the delay we would be happy to waive your next service fee with us, thank you for your feedback.

I’ve always wanted to get a warranty because I knew the appliances and stuff like that would be kind of expensive. Plus, you get a whole bunch of information in the mail so I decided to get one. It has been three years and we renewed with America’s First Choice for another three years. The first time our freezer went, they had an issue finding somebody to come look at it. It was three days before they brought it back. Then, we needed a microwave and I spoke to their reps two days after. They bought that back too.
For both situations, once we agreed to do the buyback, all I had to do was email them what happened, what we agreed upon on the phone and the receipt. With the microwave, getting the money took a little more time because my wife would email a PDF of the receipt and they would keep coming back and say that they never received a receipt. So I finally called back a month later because we sent it again. They said they never received it and I told them that it was a PDF and it was attached to the email. AFC should work on their communication. It did not take an exorbitant amount of time to finally get it and they did buy it back for 100 bucks but it was frustrating.

Had a great first time experience! Cancelled my previous warranty with a different company. Had to go through a call center and long wait time. Called AFC because I had some questions before signing up and my phone call was answered right away by a real person! Within 24 hours of submitting the claim, a technician was assigned to work on my reported issue with the laundry washing machine. Shortly thereafter, the technician contacted me to schedule the visit and he showed up within a couple hours. He promptly diagnosed the problem with the circuitboard. He promised to come back in two days to replace the faulty board. That is fast, well within my expectation.

I've been looking to find a different warranty company after I received a renewal notice for an increased premium. We used our existing warranty twice to replace a water heater and repair a fridge ice maker. That's it. It was also difficult to communicate with third party agents from a foreign country during service calls. The clincher was the discussion with our plumber who replied that our current warranty was only concerned about the "numbers" and not the customer. He was criticised for being too efficient, thorough and going beyond what is asked.

I bought their insurance thinking that for the amount that I paid, if my water heater blew out it would be covered. But they said the only thing that was surely covered on the water heater is a little valve. I was surprised. I thought they’d cover more on my water heater. But we talked about it and I agreed with them. It was just a misunderstanding. They covered $576 of the $1,400 bill. So I’m okay with that. But I still thought they’d cover more.
I read the policy but it's hard to read it all. So I’m a little bit at fault there. But they could make the print size bigger and clearly list. So I can read it really easy. They could send that to me in advance so I know what I’m gonna get. Because they made it sound like they cover the whole house. They could be straight up. Other than that, they were very polite. They were fine people. They said they’re a family company. I like that. I’ll just take it as a learning experience from my end. I have the option to cancel the policy if I wanted to. They’ll give me a refund of what’s left over. But I’ll stay with them. I need to make a phone call to them and find out what’s all covered.
When I submitted the claim, they left it to me to call who I wanted. And then I would send the estimate from the fellow I know who’s a good contractor. He was reliable. He did a great job. They gave me a decent price, too. So I did that, and then I sent the estimate to America's 1st Choice. They told me it was okay and to use them. The process was okay. It took phone calls and emails back-and-forth to get things covered. That could’ve been easier too, but it got done. I’m grateful that they sent me something.

We recently purchased a new home, and as part of the purchase we requested a year of home warranty. Unfortunately the seller picked AFC. So far we've had 5 appliance problems, but their policy is written in such a way that, for various reasons, none of the failures are covered. I understand it's how the policy was written, but that's my point - they have written the policies in such a way to be deceptive and underhanded. They have created odd loopholes for themselves to avoid covering things that the person purchasing the policy would expect to be covered.
This is my first experience with any home warranty company, so maybe this is normal, but things like "well because the broken part is on the outside of the appliance that means it's not covered..." just sound pretty ridiculous coming from a company whose motto is "we've got you covered." On top of that their customer service dept. has been unpleasant and unprofessional to deal with. They sent an email asking me to reply to the email or call as they needed more information. When I replied asking what information they needed they were straight out rude, said that I had to call (not email) and then called me a liar when I said I hadn't heard from them. So far this company has been useless... I guess the one good thing is that I didn't pay for it. If you're looking for a company that is going to try to actually help you out when you need something or have a problem, AFC isn't it.

America's First Choice Platinum is a DYNAMITE homeowner's warranty program. From the very beginning, Melanie was there to help me. She explained the warranty program in great detail; and only after all of our questions were answered, did she say goodbye. Melanie treated me like I was a member of her family which made me trust her even more. Unfortunately, my refrigerator stopped working a few months later. Melanie immediately connected me to the service department. The service department was EFFICIENCY PLUS! They immediately sent Ski Electronics and Zach the repair technician was extremely skillful. As a Realtor for 30 years, I know how valuable a homeowner's warranty is. I also can recognize that Melanie and each service department representative are experts in their chosen career. My first contact was surprisingly inaccurate. I was told that my machine was under warranty and to contact LG. The truth is that LB has a 1 year warranty on parts and a 10 year warranty on the motor and drum. The machine was just over 10 years of age. I became disturbed with AFC. I contacted a reliable repairman who had performed work on other appliances. First thinking AFC was not cooperating, I ordered the parts online with repairclinic.com. HOWEVER, when I contacted AFC several additional times, my policy service began to be honored. It was concluded today to my satisfaction with a call explaining I would receive a reimbursement less the $75 service fee. All is good and I was able to have the machine repaired very quickly compared to former home warranty companies I chose to abandon. I am very pleased today with AFC - good follow-up and notifications.

I called AFC, gave them a report on what was happening. Received an email stating the report is in & they are working on it. Next day I received a call from AFC informing me they have a repairman who will call & set up a diagnosis appt. Two days later my drier was fixed before noon! $60.00 co pay was all it took! Perfect!

We use AFC for our rental properties. We try to remedy problems quickly for our tenants. When we get a technician out to the property, they don't have time to be on the phone calling back and forth with a diagnosis to proceed. They do however provide a detailed invoice of the repairs that are made. But this doesn't seem to be good enough and its frustrating for our technicians to have to play secretary while out in the field working going over they same thing they detailed in the invoice. And also we get several calls having to explain the same thing over and over again. It's frustrating and very time consuming.

AFC does need Make Model and Serail number to be able to verify the unit and the parts ordered. My kitchen sink became clogged and I tried everything possible before calling AFC for a service call. Everyone was very polite and professional and they had a plumber to my house within two hours of the initial call. Plumber was very polite and efficient and had the sink unclogged in no time. We came from another warranty company. The other company was chosen for us when we purchased our home. When our our oven/microwave wasn't covered by the other company, it was a time for a change. Nick was very helpful and upfront about the warranty. We purchased the 3 year Platinum. Looking forward to peace of mind and not worrying about covered items.

I submitted a request for service because I believe that our toilet was leaking. I was assigned a contractor who I contacted and I was not happy with the customer service that I received. I decided to go with a company that I know and I trust and I was told that it’s OK to hire my own company and that I can submit the invoice to be reimbursed for the services. The company came out and they had a service fee Of $90 but they convinced me to buy a one year service policy and for that I was waived the fee. I spent $149 for a one year service plan. I submitted a request for reimbursement to AFC for the toilet valve that was replaced For which I am covered and for which I paid $165.
Speaking to your customer service representatives I was told that I would be reimbursed only for $105 because they were subtract $60 service fee. This is shameful and I had to fight this decision because it is ridiculous and unfair to Policyholders. The customer service rep kept telling me that because I didn’t pay $89, because The fee was waived, I still have to pay AFC $60 in service fees. I kept explaining that I decided to buy the year plan from the plumbing company and that’s why the service fee was waived but it was included in the plan’s price, but they kept insisting that I owed $60 because there is a service fee that needs to be paid.
This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard, I am being penalized for taking a good deal and thinking about my finances and about future service calls. So if now if I call back the same company, company that has a policy that they always waive the service fee if they will provide repairs, AFC will bill me nevertheless $60 service fee. You need to change the policy. This made me consider very hard to quit the contract with AFC because they would’ve charged me $60 service fee on top of the $89 Service fee that I have already paid. I am only giving you three stars because after speaking to your customer service rep and after speaking to a manager, they agreed to refund me my service fee.

Previously, I had another warranty company and I'm very unhappy with them. I then went with AFC Home Club. The first time I had a claim, it was so easy. I've had a not so pleasant experience but when I got to a manager, that was resolved really quickly. The techs who have come have been very good and they're very caring.

When I looked up on the internet, America's 1st Choice was the number one choice. I decided to get their policy and I like that if something goes wrong, I got a back-up plan. My experience when filing a claim has been good. The reps answered all my questions and they knew what they were talking about.

Most people I know have houses that are 20-50 years old and a plan like yours is a must. When people heard I took out a plan they wanted to know what I thought of yours and initially I was positive. I requested a “welcome package” that would give us detailed info on our warranty, coverages, exclusions, etc. Apparently I received it a week later, but could not print at that time. When I tried to print later, the attachment was gone. Requested it be resent twice, I’m still waiting. We are now 6 mos into our warranty. We filed a claim on the heating system which was denied, app $400. Our service company told us they have made this same repair for other warranty claims and it has always been paid. We were owed $10 for the service call and were told we would receive an e-check in 5-10 days, took up a month. The people that we have dealt with have always been very courteous and calls are returned within a reasonable time, but follow through and results are lacking.

I was with American Home Shield warranty for about 8 years. They used companies with low star ratings. And I was very disappointed with their customer service. I am very pleased with AFC so far. This was the first time using them for a repair but it was a pleasant experience. No wait times for calls and the company they used was very professional and friendly. Not to mention the option to use my own company if I want to.

I was drawn to go with America's First Choice Home Club due to the variety of services and the coverage that they offered for the deductible that they were. I called to submit a claim and they sent somebody out right away. As a matter of fact, it was like the day before Thanksgiving that something went out and they were very timely. The technician was great. They came out for one thing. The plugs was out in the kitchen, so they sent somebody out right away. And they checked the breaker box and they’ve actually found something else. They had to call and they approved both claims. So, that was great.

We switched from American Home Shield (AHS) to AFC a few months ago. We made the decision because it was a little less expensive and the salesperson we worked with was great. In the last month, I had to get an expensive HVAC maintenance done, they refused to repair an issue with our water heater, and refused to cover more than $150 toward an issue with our oven because we were TWO DAYS away from the end of the initial 60 day grace period.
We asked to cancel the service request, but it was too late. The customer service is not good, in my opinion. Perhaps the issues are more obvious because we had such a different experience with AHS. We were with them for years and never had one service request refused. In fact, they would waive the $75 service fee if anything went wrong. We cannot get out of the AFC contract for a year, but we are definitely headed back to AHS in 2021. The best part about all of this is that our water heater has been leaking through our ceiling for 6 days (when we sent the service request), and their contractor can't fix it for another 3-4 days. Happy new year!

We had to have our heat pump/air conditioner/furnace replaced and it was done exactly as promised. The only fault I have was the wait time to have it replaced... 2 weeks is a bit long when the winter is pretty cold in our area. Need to have more companies that people can use things like this happen.

We called on 12/24 because one of our gas burners won't shut off. It is now Jan 4th and we haven't gotten it repaired nor has anyone contacted us. We reached out to the company that was supposed to do it but they said they informed AHS that they don't work on gas appliances. This has been a terrible experience. Worse than when our stove went out.
We have spoken with this member and confirmed that she is with American Home Shield not AFC Home Club.

I received a phone call almost immediately after inquiring online about warranty plans. The gentleman said he would call me back after sending a sample contract and a price quote. I did not receive a return call nor did he respond to my email inquiry. I felt this was a great product and made my purchase online with no assistance.

Called in to establish new service after being informed by American Home Shield that I was not covered for septic repairs, and that they only cover septic systems for 1 year. My AFC representative, James **, was very professional, polite, and understanding and ensured me that we would be fully covered. Horrible service. Washing machine broke and they didn’t want to do anything at first. After several calls they agreed to send me a check for $300.00. I had to pay out of pocket for A new one for $600. The check took over a month to get also. Cancelled service and went to another company and I’m very happy.

AFC seems to have a glitch in sending documentation to their vendors upon a service request. For my stove top repair, two vendors contacted said they had received no documentation on the request, so they hadn't contacted me. This despite the fact I received texts/emails from AFC saying they'd found a vendor for me who would contact me. No vendor ever did. I had to contact them with the info supplied by AFC. When a vendor did come out, they thought I was a cash client instead of AFC (although I'd told them I was AFC when I called the vendor to schedule service). We had to spend 30 minutes on the phone with customer service getting the ok for the $75 fee.

We apologize there was a miscommunication with the vendors. All work orders are sent via email automatically. When vendors come on board with us they sign an agreement that ensures they know the simple process, they are also heavily vetted and on-boarded to our process. In some cases, there is a new person in their office or new tech that may not be aware of these situations. Nevertheless communication is key and we have made sure to reach out to these vendors to refresh the process with them to insure your needs are met in a timely manner, thank you for your feedback.

I own rental properties as looking around all warranty companies have pros and cons. This one has a lot of unwritten cons. While others state the fact that if is irreparable they will replace. AFC has a list of only items covered on particular appliance and then offer a buyout. For a couple of hundred more per year go with one with fix or replace warranty. I was assured under gold plan unless problem was listed as Not Covered it was covered as they could not list every individual item. Needless to say I will not renew with this company. With AFC 2 claims 1 refrigertor, 1 dishwasher. Refrigerater compressor was bad and had option of fixing for 60.00 or offer 450 towards replacement. Took 450 and bought a new one for 900 delivered and installed and warranty.
The 2nd dishwasher can't be repaired as control panel discontinued and AFC decided it is under not covered list (no such list on coverage info). Offered $100 toward replacement. My experience with First American Home Warranty is a lot better. The price was higher but I have had everything fixed to my satisfaction or replaced with a NEW appliance. I guess you can figure out what will happen when Dave calls me to renew AFC warranty.

I changed from One Home Protection to America First Choice home protection because we are permitted to find our own contractors with AFC which makes more sense and prevents the customer from having to wait several days or weeks for 1-2 contractors who are assigned to the home protection company. The service with AFC in the transition was efficient and they demonstrated excellent customer service.

When America's 1st Choice called me, I loved them. They were the best in the world and they'd do everything. You have them at your beck and call, until you call. They sent a guy and he told me my heater was dead and they wouldn't repair. AFC wanted copies of my service and I said I couldn't find them. Eventually, I did find it and they said, "We won't fix that." The last one I had didn't fix the faucet leak, and they told me they didn't fix leaks. So, I had to let them go. They really made a fool of me.

I spoke with Layla on several occasions and she was very helpful. She was one of the main reasons I went with this company. Also you can use your own people instead of AFCs service people. I haven’t used the service yet so I can’t remark on that.

I found an unfortunate incident with my refrigerator on the eve of Christmas. At 11:35 I called AFC and there was someone actually there to answer the phone, how wonderful. She took the information and AFC took action the next day. Of course they will have to go through the procedures of the 24 to 48 hours until a contractor contact me. But my refrigerator is really bad and I needed attention on it or right away.
I called Everett and he was able expedite my issue. I was provided my contractor number and I was able to contact the contractor and he showed up at that very day at around 2:30 p.m.. He assessed the damage and got the approval from AFC and he will be returning with the new part on Monday to repair my refrigerator. I have got to say AFC is awesome and I will refer AFC to anyone. I have to say also that when you have an incident with other competitors they will increase the premium, but AFC does not. I will stay with AFC from here on.

When I was first buying a home, I didn't know exactly what may happen with certain things in my house and had gotten America's First Choice. Also, my house has a septic tank and they cover septic tanks in case something happens to it. However, my experience with them has been touch and go because I didn't read everything. But the customer service on the phone was fine as far as having the knowledge about what has to go on in the process.
When I first got into my home, I had issues with my AC unit. My understanding was, call the people, they'll send somebody out, and they'll fix it. Then you pay whatever you pay. But I was told that I gotta get a letter stating that everything was working like it was supposed to. I said that when I did the walk-through for my house, the guy turned my AC unit on and it worked fine. The experience left a bad taste in my mouth. When you sign up for the program, they should go into more detail. If you're a busy person, which most people are, you don't read through the fine print. The representative should say, "Make sure that you do X, Y, and Z for your AC system." Then when my dryer was acting up, I had to call America's First Choice on a weekend or holiday. They said, "We couldn't get anybody out until this day." I have kids in my house, so I gotta wash clothes. I was also new to the area, so I didn't know where anything was.

In the case of not having an available technician on Holidays, many firms do close early which is beyond the control of AFC Home Club, but we are the only company who allows you to choose your own technician to expedite the repairs. If you wish we can always send you a qualified list of providers in your area. When it comes to annual maintenance this is a manufacturer requirement to ensure any failures are found before they become life-threatening or potentially hazardous, We do go over this in the call which is recorded and supply documentation on this.

This the first claim I've attempted and it was denied. The door hinge on our washing machine is broken. I was told that repairing it or replacing it was not covered because it was "non mechanical". I have two policies with AFC one for my primary residence and the second for my rental property. If this is is the type of service I can expect it is doubtful I will be renewing with them.

America's First Choice's service was said to be good, but from our experience, it was not. They did not satisfy the claim they were supposed to take care of. We escalated all the way through the Better Business Bureau and after that, America's First Choice was able to partially set aside our complaint. However, because of that, we don't want to use their service anymore.

I am responding to AFC’s follow up request to leave a review, so remember - they asked for this. I switched from AHS after being sold on the concept of ease and being able to select your own workers, I cancelled my contract after five months. During this period two issues arose at my rental property. During the first one I found out that I could submit the work to them for reimbursement after the claim (using my own provider in order to provide a speedy repair), but they could deny it even though it was covered by the policy. Otherwise you have to wait for the approval (3-5 business days). The second was my stove. The top was coming off. Found out this wasn’t covered cause it was ‘damaged’. This tends to happen when you use an item for 10 or so years. Nonetheless, they refused to pay.
Therefore after two issues and two unsuccessful efforts to have my claims covered I cancelled my service with them. **They hit me up for another $75 per contract (one on my rental and one on my own home) and charged me for the entire month we were in - EVEN THOUGH THEY FAILED TO PAYOUT FOR A SINGLE CLAIM!** As I stated previously - avoid. To AFC - thank you for reminding me to leave a review and providing the link to do so. Maybe if you at least tried to be equitable in compensation as we parted ways I could have at least one positive thing to write, but alas...

I am pretty sure that this review will not appear, since we have already terminated our home warranty coverage with AFC. We have already submitted this to the BBB and published our review and remarks to the "Next Door" neighborhood blog. Within 60 days last summer (2019) our water system and A/C both failed. We submitted both to AFC and both we declined based on incorrect information. We accepted their decision on the A/C unit because our A/C unit was declined because the failed compressor was in the 9th year of a 10 year warranty covered by the manufacturer.
After AFC declined our claim.
Pictures and written statements were sent to AFC for their review, WHICH THEY REFUSED to undertake or even listen to our appeals. We tried on several occasions to contact the responsible parties and were unsuccessful and were not allowed to even get an additional review, by their "judge and jury." We have since learned from the ranch owners surrounding us that "lighting strike" is commonly used by AFC to skirt their responsibilities for coverage. In the time we lived on this property. We never missed a payment and actually had the water well system added to our coverage because it is our only source of water! And yet when we needed AFC's assistance and coverage they fell back on the Lighting strike clause they were able to obtain from a phone interview with a Part Time well technician and refused to listen, read or look at the pictures and evidence we produced from authoritarian sources.
I guess we should have predicted that AFC would elected not to cover this incident based on the almost $4,000 repair bill to pull up over 500' of well pipe out of our well in order to replace a $1,100 submersible well pump. Only wish we could have known about AFC was going to handle our claim before all of this occurred, but now we go out of our way to forewarn our neighboring ranchers to run, not walk away from AFC.

Submitting a claim with AFC is an easy process. My first claim was for my garage door opener. It was old and it quit. They allotted me so much and I got to buy a new garage door opener. I submitted the receipts to them and they paid me back within a timely manner. It was good. Then recently, I put in a claim for my air conditioning. When my AC kicked on it was cool. But it's 150 degrees in the shade and my house is cool. The fan kept running and what I kept feeling was warm air. I figured something was wrong.
AFC took forever to get someone out to look at it and I had to do some legwork. I called Evereth, who works at AFC and was very helpful all the time. It had been three weeks and I needed someone out here. So they got one out and they got the invoice. I took a picture and emailed it to Rachel. They said it make take a couple of days 'cause they have to look and get the diagnostic codes. I understand that. It's not an overnight thing. But I haven't heard anything back.
I called them back and they said they would give me $200 as goodwill because my unit did not have preventative maintenance. Also, my air conditioner was only six years old and the fan keeps continuously running. But I said I wanted my unit fixed. I don't have $1,000 and that's why I have the warranty because home warranty companies are fantastic. I pay AFC $50 every month and I've never missed a payment. I said I will give them one week or I'm walking. I had to call up the next week and they didn't help me so I walked. Then, in November they charged me. On 11/15, I sent an email to billing and told them I wanted my warranty cancelled but they were nice enough to refund me my $50 for November and I thanked them. But I can't come back or won't recommend them because of that. I'm gonna go back to the old provider that I left before.
I was so disappointed. The warranty is so cheap a month because they will only do a bare minimum of the work. The company that I'm gonna go to has three different plans. I pay $65 a month but then my deductible is $75 or I can do $55 a month and then pay $100 service fee. But I would rather pay a little more a month than pay a lower fee if they would have to come out.

Had a great experience signing up with AFC Home Club. I was assured that the technicians provided were rated 4 stars or higher and that there is an option to use your own technician if need be. I’ve had poor experiences with a couple other home warranty companies in the past so I am looking forward to starting a great relationship with AFC!
