    The claims process was pretty straightforward. I went to their website and filed the claim there. AFC kept me in the loop of things, where it was kind of progressing. But when I had a claim for the water heater, they told me that they could only give me a prorated cost of the water heater. so they didn't replace it. I ended up paying for it to get replaced and then they gave me 200 bucks for it. Meanwhile, the entirety of getting it replaced was close to 1,100 bucks.

    There was a power outage and it lasted for a day and a half. After the power came back on, our ice maker wouldn't work. I called America's 1st Choice and, at first, I was turned down. They said that they don't cover anything that has to do with a power outage. I told them that I was going to be canceling and they decided that they would go ahead and cover it. They sent a guy out and he diagnosed it. I paid the $100 to him. He took the make and model of the ice maker, came back a week later and put the ice maker in. It worked for a day then it quit working. I had to pay another $75 to him when he came to put the ice maker in too.

    I contacted him and he came back out after a few days. It had started working the day that he came out. It made about five cubes at a time. He went ahead and left and it quit working. I called him and made an appointment for him to come back. By that time, it was real close to Christmas so we decided to give it a week or two. Finally, the last time after we decided that he would call to make an appointment after the holidays, it just quit. I waited for about a month and it didn't make any ice. I finally called him back again. I knew there was a six-month warranty on the ice maker so I told him I wanted to go ahead and replace the ice maker and go with the warranty on it. He said that it would cost me $95 for him to come out and do the diagnosis. I decided that I didn't want to deal with it anymore. I had closed out that claim with America's 1st Choice because I felt bad about him not getting paid from them.

    In the meantime, the control panel on my washer started beeping all the time and the lights were flashing. I had to continually unplug it whenever I wasn't using it. I called to put in a claim and got a call back that they didn't cover control panels on washers so I immediately canceled my membership. I called to find out what my refund was going to be. I haven't received it yet but I paid around 500 and some dollars for the year in July. I found out that they had also deducted $225 from that for the repairs to my ice maker. I would never go with them or any home warranty company again. With the money that I spent for two years with them, I could have bought either a new refrigerator or a different washer. I wasn't happy and I'm still not happy.

    AFC is good with how quickly they respond to claims I put in. The tech that came out was friendly. He seemed to know what he was doing and he did a good job. My only complaint is that when the job's done, AFC calls and asks me, “Is the job done?” Or they expect me to call and say the job’s done. When the contractor could talk to AFC and say, “It's done.”

    I like this service but I seem to do better when I find my own technicians!! I was not happy with the reviews on the one they recommended for the dishwasher. So I found my own. AFC did follow up on my complaint about connecting me with a low reviewed tech and did investigate and relay the results of that investigation. That being said, double check whom they recommend and/or always get your own tech. With my own heating tech., I had no problem getting reimbursed for the work. Of course like anything, you have to stay on top of things, make sure you follow the process correctly before having the tech do any work. But AFC goes out of their way to constantly remind you of the process.

    I had to follow up quite a bit as they said they were calling my tech after the service was completed for one more piece of info before I could get my reimbursement check. The tech dispatch denied receiving any messages. Who knows what happened there. I’m not pointing fingers! Not a huge problem, like I said you have to stay on top of things. A three way call with myself, AFC and the heating tech company solved the issue. AFC are very polite on the phone and really try to help.

    Submitting a claim has always been very easy. I just submit one online and somebody from AFC will email or call. The few times that we've had contractors, they've been good. They call ahead of time and they follow safety precautions. They update the system with the diagnosis and provide repair estimates in a timely manner.

    AFC tells you things upfront. They're good with communicating. The are a few things that they didn't cover which I would have liked them to but for the stuff they cover, it's been really good.

    The fan motor went out on my HVAC in the middle of winter, temps in the 20's. Most home warranties don't give you the option to use your own service provider and you could have to wait up to 48 hours for repairs. AFC gives you the option to use your own. I didn't want to be without heat for 2 days so I used the company that does the maintenance on the unit. They did the diagnostic that day AFC approved the repair and I had heat back in a matter of hours. I submitted all docs needed and was reimbursed for the repair. Thank you AFC!

    It wasn't clear that I wouldn't have any coverage for the first two months. So that was a major disappointment. Because an issue happened in the first two months and I didn't know that. Nobody tells you about that when you're signing up. But submitting the claim via the online form works pretty well. I've done two claims and both times, I had to contact vendors outside of the network because it was too long to wait. It was gonna take a couple of weeks to a month to get anybody out there to fix my furnace and it was starting cold season. AFC should have contractors that are more readily available. But it was nice that I could go outside of the network and hire somebody then.

    Our 10 years old water heater got corroded and it cracked open. The guy that came did good work. America's 1st Choice did not pay for a replacement because they said the damage was done over time, but they were willing to give me a sum of money to put towards a new purchase, and that was what I did. I just felt that it wasn’t adequately covered and that they did not give me enough money to cover the water heater, but I understand their position. We’ve had several home warranty companies that either went under, charged us unfairly for the annual service, or tried to steal our money, so we liked AFC because they’ve been around and they seemed to be fairly honest.

    I had a claim with AFC and it went well. They fixed the claim. I put another claim in, and the guy said, "Well, let's do this." I was okay with that. Then AFC came back and told me they were only gonna pay for the water heater. I told them that it didn't sound right because if they were only paying for the water heater, it did not cover the rest of the installation over here. They said, "Well, yeah, you only have $500 toward plumbing." But they didn't tell me that. I asked them, "I only have $500 for three years?" They said, "Yes." The first couple of times, I had issues with the people they sent to me. Then it was, "Well, you can pay for it." So I told them, "What's the point of me having you as a home warranty if I gotta pay for it myself?" I wanted to speak to a manager but they never resolved it.

    For my last claim, I didn't even bother. I didn't go through with it because AFC is not gonna tell me they're gonna put $148 toward a water heater. I can buy that myself. They're not gonna pay to have it installed. Also, I told them that I have a pool leak and I included that leak in my original claim, but it was separated. I asked them over and over again if the pool leak would be included, and they said, "Yes." But I've come to find out it wasn't included. They did one part and that was it. I told them I didn't like that, and if they go back and take a look at the claim, they can clearly see what I asked for. The rep clearly looked at it and sent it in. They sent multiple people. After a while, I can't keep going back and forth. So I've been wanting to cancel with them.

    AFC is taking my money but they're gonna turn around and say, "Well, I'm not gonna provide a service." I've already dealt with that before and that was what I was assured was not gonna happen this particular time. I was told that if I call them with a claim, each claim is considered differently. I don't have a cumulative of $500 for everything because there's not one thing in a house that is gonna cost you up to $500, especially when it comes to plumbing or electrical. So right now, I would not recommend AFC to anybody.

    It’s been a little bit harder with having my renter. I set it up and the paperwork for AFC to be able to call her or reach out to her and it hasn’t gone as smoothly as I’d like. They could do more follow up. It would be nice to know that they followed up with her and that they're doing things instead of me hearing it from her. Also, the last time I called was for a plumbing issue and they said they don't cover it. If they had told me that, I wouldn’t have had the contractor come out. That's a waste of my time and my renter’s time.

    The first time I have used America's 1st Choice Home Club was for my water heater. And that was a pleasant experience. My second time was the garbage disposal. And that was a pleasant experience, too. Most of the time, I call it in. If it's something simple, like the garbage disposal went out, and it was just the garbage disposal, I just go online and file a claim. But with the dryer, it was different because it showed a code. I thought it was the lint screen. Something simple like that, then I wouldn’t have filed the claim. But I had to talk to a representative. And they told me that it had something. I forgot what he said it had something to do with, but it was something repairable. So, I just got it fixed. So far, I've had good contractors. As a matter of fact, I even upgraded my plan. When I spoke to the rep, she noticed that I didn’t have something that replaced the faucet or the something with the plumbing. So, I upgraded to that.

    However, I was about to cancel America's 1st Choice Home Club a couple of months ago because I was having problems with my dryer and they tried to give me the runaround about the dryer. They told me that they would only give me $125 towards the purchase of a new one. When they were soliciting my business, they told me repair or replace. They said that it has to be under 10 years old. The rep said that it was at the end of its life expectancy.

    But the thing was the guy that came out to look at it and said that it was something simple that goes out on those front-loader dryers. Every time I hit start, it would just give me this error code. It was a switch. It wouldn't allow it to start. So, he replaced the switch and it started right back up. And he told me, “It’s just like you've been keeping it in really good condition. It’s clean. You rubbed all the serial numbers off of the labels, so you must be wiping it down. You should get another 10 years out of it now.” But they wanted to give me $125. And I said, “No.”

    The claims process is straightforward. It's not the simplest, because I have to answer quite a few questions, especially if there's an appliance that they may have to replace, etc. I have to go find the serial number, etc. They won't release anything without serial number. This probably is standard. But this is the first time that I've had a home warranty and compared to some of the others, they try to help me pay at least partially for the repairs that I may need done.

    But the question-answer process is a bit lengthy to me because they have an online portal that I can submit a claim on there and explain everything in the description, etc. But they still call and ask the same question. So, a little repetitive in that case. And there were a few times that something was not covered for me, etc. But they send me all of that information upfront so it's up to me to read it and make a decision.

    There is a service charge. Let's say it's a $75 service charge that if you go through one of their service technicians and that service technician comes out and they diagnose the problem for you, then that’s $75 that you have to pay the service technician up front. From there, whatever the diagnosis is, or whatever needs to be fixed, they will let you know if it's approved, etc. for them to take care of. They give you the option to go through your own service technician.

    I've had the service technician that I've been working with for years, so he doesn't necessarily charge me to come out and diagnose the problem. And every time that has happened, I've still had to contribute that $75 towards my repair somehow. So even though I wasn't charged $75 from my service technician, they remove that from the repair cost, which is very annoying because why call it a service charge if they allow me to use my own service person, and if my service person does not charge me $75, then why do I still have to pay that? That's something that they can change or at least reword because it conflicts for me. But overall, I am satisfied. It’s my second year. I reached out to America's 1st Choice Home Club today to see how much it would be to renew.

    I usually submit claims to America's 1st Choice Home Club online. And a representative follows up with me. However, the contractors are hit-and-miss. I've had one plumber come out and they were very good. I had somebody come out and check my heater, and they didn't fix the problem. They just had me change out the air filter and see if that works. It didn't do much. They said, “It's an old furnace. There's not much we can do.” They just said to change the air filter every three months or check the air filter every three months to see if it needs to be changed. But I called back and said it was still making a noise. And they said, “It’s an old furnace.” Other than that, the price is great. It's nice being able to choose your own contractor and be able to use them for the warranty. And I've always gotten fast responses, so it has been good so far.

    When I was signing up with AFC Home Club, the gentleman that I signed up with was really positive and out of the other ones out there at the time, they were the better one. But the first experience I had with them was horrible and I was borderline going to cancel. I had issues with the ladies at customer service that I talked to and it took several weeks for me to finally get somebody out there to handle the problem. Then, I felt I was misled about the coverage. I even read it yesterday again and it's not detailed enough. So, people find out after they have a problem that certain parts are not covered. It'll say certain things that are covered and certain things that are not, but it's missing a whole lot.

    Other than that, the first contractor that we had stated what was wrong with our freezer and said point blank that it was best to go ahead and buy another refrigerator. So that was why we ended up purchasing another one. AFC sent me a check as reimbursement but they prorated it to the point where it didn't even cover taxes on the new one. So the warranty didn't save us any money. As a matter of fact, I had put more money into it than I got out of it. I have a second claim with them for my stove at the moment and the guy came out today. So far, I'm waiting to find out what their excuse is going to be after today.

    I have two homes that are insured by America's 1st Choice and in the last four months, we have had a couple of issues and their responses were not very positive. They sounded pretty good, so I went with them. But when it comes time to get services, they're not that responsive. I have an AC that did not work properly, so I called and submitted a claim. They told me that they didn't have anyone available in the service area but when they sold me the warranty, they didn't say that. They said that they got all kinds of providers out there and there would be no problem at all. But now they told me that I needed to go on my own to find a provider.

    So I looked around and I could not find anyone out there to come out and look at my AC unit. It took me about two weeks to circle back to them and finally, I told them that they should find someone because I could not find anyone. It took them about two weeks to send me a list of vendors out there. So I called them and got someone out there to come and fix it. Two months later, the vendor called me and said they have not been paid yet by America’s 1st Choice even though I paid my service call on the day that vendor came out to my house.

    In November, my basement had a power outage, so I suspected it might be a ground fault circuit switch that was going bad. I submitted a claim and all AFC told me was that they couldn't find anyone in my area again. This is for a different home and like the other one, it's also in a metropolitan area which is not in a small town. Each area that I live in has at least 500,000 people or more. It took me another week and a half to find a local contractor to come out, then I submitted my claim and AFC disputed the claim. But they told me verbally that since they could not find anyone in my area, whoever I found, they would reimburse 100%. I told the girl who talked to me that they told me to find someone since they couldn't find anyone and that they would fully reimburse me. She finally told me that they did that one time as a courtesy. On hindsight, I did not ask her to put her courtesy with me in writing that she would pay 100% after the fact.

    I also had a washer that went out of commission about three months ago. I called AFC and I submitted a claim. The girl called me and said that they didn't have any local vendor out here and that I have to be on my own. She also said they could pay me up to $150 if I would buy a new unit, so I started getting the runaround. I went ahead and bought a brand new washer for $780. But they only paid me 150. So I suspect that they reimbursed me that money because they would rather do that than to pay somebody to come out and fix an old unit, which was fine as I didn't want to deal with any more hassle.

    Unfortunately, I have a three-year contract with AFC but when my contract runs out in 2023, I will go out and find somebody else. I don't want to fool around with those kinds of service because I feel like I'm not getting my money's worth. And I did not buy a cheap contract. I bought what they call a Platinum service warranty which was pretty good in my mind. They told me that’s top product, but when it comes to servicing it, it’s not there.

    AFC's communication is okay. But I have other types of issues with them. Like I might have something that needs to get done right away, and then they want me to do the heavy lifting. Then they'll reimburse me later, or they have to check out what exactly is going on or what's wrong first before they can determine if they're going to service it or not. But when I'm dealing with my tenants, it doesn't work for me. That's an emergency. I need to get this done right away. AFC says a contractor will come out in 24 to 48 hours. But for me, 48 hours is way too long to wait on somebody to go who can even tell me what the problem is and then determine whether or not they can service my request. So that’s a problem for me.

    A tech came out to work on the stove for my tenant but he only did three of the four eyes. There was some kind of confusion there, but I wish the technician would have called me because I would have told him to fix all four eyes on the stove. I also called in a claim for a plumbing issue. That was when the AFC representative told me the 48 hours and I said that that's going to take too long so I just called another plumber and had to go out and do the work. Then later on, they gave me a partial reimbursement after I talked to the representative that signed me up with the program. I told him that I didn't like their service and that I know I have a certain amount of time with them but after this, I won't be coming again. So then he got me some reimbursement but it was a little.

    I called and advise that my dryer was making a loud noise. The agent asked if it was still drying. I said I believe so but turned the dryer off since the dryer sounded like it was going to blow up. The agent then tells me that since it is drying, there is nothing they can do. I advised that I have 3 kids and didn't feel safe running the dryer when it sounded like that. I let him know I would cancel my policy and wanted to speak to a manager. I got put on hold and then was advised that someone would come to check the dryer.

    Service to my dryer was good and the gentleman that fixed it was very nice. Only thing I wanted to note was that they didn't put the hose back into the back of the dryer. The laundry room was very humid for some reason. Once I looked at the back of the dryer I saw that they forgot to hook it back but fixed it. Dryer is working great!

    I used AFC one time and I elected not to renew my plan because of the poor customer service that I received and the hassle that was given to me about cost. When I signed up with them, the sales rep that I spoke with did an excellent job. But But he should have been more detail-oriented when explaining that there are limitations to these warranties because otherwise, I wouldn't have spent $3,000 on a warranty that I didn't even use.

    When the heater went out at my house where I have renters, I called America's 1st Choice and told them that I needed them to note in the account to please call the people who were living there, not me, because I was not in charge of that anymore. It's my warranty but they're going to pay the $75 service fee and whatever went wrong. Originally, the sales rep who sold me the Premium Package, which was the best package that they had, told me that it was supposed to cover anything and everything. I have a list of things that says it covers heating and AC. But whenever they sent some dude out there to get it checked out, he messed around for a couple hours, according to my tenants, and after he left, he said that the AC no longer worked. So now, they don't have AC or heat.

    So he caused even more issues and the reason why he left was because he wanted authority to do the fix, which was going to be 700 and some odd dollars. But why would I have to pay $700 if I had a warranty? He said it was because the AC was too old of age. But I was never told that there's an age limit. That would have been part of the sales pitch that there are criteria that have to be met during certain things. If I would have known that there was an age limit, I wouldn't have bought the program as it doesn't make any sense if it's not going to be covered anyways. At any rate, I called AFC back and they said I had to speak with the technician because it would be on him if he needed to come back and fix something.

    So I called the technician and he went back. He couldn't figure out what's going on, so the owner of that company showed up. He did a great job and fixed the heater. He also did not charge me anything as he was trying to fix his technician's error. Because whatever the technician did, he made the AC also turn off in addition to the heating. He was there for about five hours, according to my tenant, and our AC and heater now work.

    Then, I was waiting for a manager's approval from AFC but they wouldn't do anything. But I'm not going to pay $700 on something that a warranty should cover. And the very first time I talked with a manager, he was trying to put words in my mouth saying that things were explained to me or I had signed some document about this certain criteria that have to be met, which I had not. I don't have any form of documentation stating that there's an age requirement of the unit. Then, weeks later, another manager got ahold of me and told me that they wanted to discuss about this. They had no idea it was already handled and I told them that I was no longer interested in doing business with them. The way they handled my claim was very unprofessional and it was not handled accordingly or in a timely fashion.

    When the plumbing was clogged up, the plumber who came out seemed to know what he was doing, but we had I no idea what he was talking about. Other than that, we're not having issues so far.     I've had three claims with America's 1st Choice Home Club and they've all been rectified the way I expected. One of them was for the washing machine with the transmission that went out. Then, a part was going bad four times with one of my refrigerators. The third one was for my furnace where it had two separate issues. I've had my own person come out for these repairs, except for one time where they had somebody come out. Other than that, AFS doesn't cover everything. There was one thing in my house that they said was not listed in the contract and they told me it was not covered.

    I hate to say…AFC is showing itself to be worse than my previous company AHS… It appears the track record of these companies are consistent at nothing other than finding a loophole to not cover the items we faithfully pay for each month. The “warranties” have proven to be historically slow and complicated. It’s almost as if some type of federal regulations are needed…(and yes, I read the fine print). People would do better to simply put the money that they/we pay to this company every month into an interest-bearing account and take care of their own repairs.

    I’ve come to realize - As a single mother who thought this would be an excellent tool to assist with repairs, that this is nothing more than an elaborate way to scam people out of their hard earned dollars…from sending out a technician to not paying for parts. It’s exasperating to have a necessary item (refrigerator/oven/etc) go out and be unable to have it repaired in a timely manner because of going back and forth with AFC. I have at times resorted to using YouTube to diagnose and fix things…and I rarely post negative reviews, but a deep dive is needed into your processes.

    We hate AFC Home Club. It's horrible. We used to have a different home warranty company and the only reason we switched was because the one we had sent out people who weren't very knowledgeable sometimes. But they were still better than this one and I regret leaving. With AFC, when you would have the service person at your house to fix something, they wanted the service person to come out, take a look at the items and whatever it was that needed to be repaired, tell them what it was, then they wanted them to come back at a later date and fix it after it had been approved. When my mom had an issue with the washing machine, we had the guy come out and that was what he told us. That's insane. We've done a claim three times and they were all denied.

    Heating system failed, I have a service contract with a well known company, when I called them to check the company found a circuit board it’s the system defective. I called HFC and asked for service. After much discussion the bill was finally paid. With the service contract I get a reduced rate on parts and labor from the company. That should make it easier on AFC to pay me when I pay for the service. AFC was slow and hard to deal with for the way I wanted to deal with the heat issues. Waiting for 24 or more hours for AFC to contact their service tech without heat at temps in the 30 degree range is not acceptable. With the contract I have (with Airmasters) service is within 12 or less hours to find and fix the problem.

    Consumer beware. If it is too good to be true, it is, as the old saying goes. Be sure to read the fine print as it’s not disclosed verbally over the phone with the initial and follow up inquiry. Unless you live in a newer home less than 10 years old, don’t expect covered items to even come close to being repaired or replaced by AFC. Our dishwasher was evaluated by AFC covered contractor who came three times to diagnose and attempt to repair the dishwasher, unsuccessfully. Turns out contractor didn’t follow protocol and did unauthorized work and repairs which caused damage in the kitchen floor. AFC promised to put $286 toward replacing my dishwasher. It took a long time to find a dishwasher replacement because of back orders on all higher dishwashers-due to Covid situation.

    A dishwasher finally came, was installed and the invoice sent over to AFC a week after my contract expired. AFC refused to honor the original promise to pay for part of the dishwasher. I tried, to no avail, to get them to keep their promise. The whole experience with AFC what is not a good one, and I feel that they were dishonest and didn’t care.

    We’ve used AFC for personal and business use for years and have seen their service really improve in the last 2 years. The online claim submittal process is seamless and there is less hassle and fewer games played when an appliance needs to be cashed out and replaced. Whereas a few years before I had to jump through massive hoops to be reimbursed and was even belittled when I had a high end appliance needing a complex and expensive repair (I was told this is the last time we will help with this unit). For another unit I wasn’t even offered a cash out/replacement. As a result of these two negative interactions (2 of many) I deferred using my coverage benefits for a broken stove for several years believing that I’d be treated the same way. But to my surprise this didn’t happen this time and I received fair value to replace a unit that didn’t have parts available to fix it.

    Now when I call I receive friendly service and when I ask for hard copies of my policies they ship them out immediately. And AFC has taken complete ownership of clerical errors I identified in my policies and corrected them promptly without the push back I used to experience. I’m glad I hung in there because I was shopping for a new provider. The only complaint I have now is that in my area this is a lack of available repair companies that will work with home warranty companies. I’m hoping AFC will work on cultivating relationships with these companies or work with the appliance manufacturers repair departments directly. Thanks for reading this long review.

    We had to communicate with up to 4 people to get this issue resolved. The first person, Quintin, didn't understand what the service call was for and kept trying to tell me what the problem could be when it wasn't even close to what I was talking about. He also made me wait on hold for over 10 mins while he prepared emails to send to me. That was completely a waste of my time. The next person was Naomi, who I had to call just so she could send me an email on how to upload a document. Why couldn't I do that with Quintin when we talked about me getting my own plumber, since you didn't have any available? The third was an email for a survey, which is fine but the link should be the same to leave a review like this one, from a text, not for google. The fourth person, Cassidy, called to confirm the refund.

    When I signed up with you guys I was under the impression that I would be getting a personal rep. Meaning I wouldn't have to talk to so many people and would only be communicating with one person. I honestly feel lied to. Thankfully you guys are keeping up with your end of the bargain and reimbursing me and I am happy with that.     I have been with them for 2+ years, as I signed up for 3-year contract. With our first service call about my thermostat issue, they are coming up with all kind of reasons not to pay and says it is not covered. I signed up for “Platinum service” and paid all up front, and now after 2 ½ years, they decline my request. They say they deny the repair, states that it’s secondary damage, as the system had excess moisture that corroded the coil. How can a customer know there is some secondary damage happening within an appliance?

    I also wasted the co-pay for the technician to come and provide the information to AFC. It looks like AFC will do anything they can to not pay for something related to your service request. Cancellation is also not easy. They say they will look into it if we send the request in a mail. They simply took my 3 years “Platinum Service” contact money without providing the proper coverage. Avoid AFC to save your money.

    If I could give zero stars I would. Do not sign up with this company! Service: Not friendly or helpful. The service reps don't listen. It sounds like they respond from a script. They just don't seem to care at all. They only care about the money you pay them. Coverage: AFC will do anything they can to not pay for something related to your service request. They won't pay for labor, fees or any other components required to make a proper repair. They will only pay for the failed part itself. They also look to pay as little as possible for that failed/covers component, not a reasonable amount. Terms/cancellation: AFC makes you cancel in writing to an address in Marietta GA. You can't cancel online or over the phone. They make it as difficult as possible. Overall: You don't get the service or coverage benefits for the premium you pay. I'll never do business with AFC again.

    Originally I was with AHS (this location is my Rach House). They had just replaced my water well pump that I had several years, but it was hard for them to locate contractors in that area and AFC Home Club tells me I can get my own contractors and they can directly pay them or I can get reimbursed and I was sold by a sales manager. He gave me his direct phone line. Well ok, a few months later my AC unit to the upstairs went out so I located a AC company at a nearby town and he went by and diagnosed the problem. The compressor shorted out so he called them and told them and they asked him if there were thunderstorms nearby and he said yes, so then they call me and tell me it was an act of God, not covered and I told them they were crazy.

    The storms were 10 days ago and so every time there was a storm all the ACs would go out so they said will waive that but the unit was also old so by the time we take depreciation you wouldn't get anything. So in essence in a house that is 9 or 10 years if anything breaks down you wouldn't get anything, so I then tried to call the sales manager by the name Patrick and another one Dave. Their recording now said their box was full and it could not take a message. This sounds like scams and I am now in the process of my lawyer finding out who is their legal rep in Texas to accept Process Service "Will meet in Court". BEWARE.

    I purchased a seller's home warranty for 1 year coverage from AFC in 6/2019. I read the website info when purchasing, but of course not the long "fine print" contract attached. There is no check box for auto-renewal like normal. Then I sold that house and moved. Now in 6/2021 I was amazed to see AFC still charging my old credit card $350/year. I reached out to correct the error. Their reps (2) explained that this is a [legalized auto renewal scam] using polite language, including a copy/paste of buried contract sections. Yikes! AFC would continue to bill your account forever if they could. You have to contact them to make them to it stop. Again, yikes. Note: they do send a couple email reminders that went right to spam to make this concept legal.

    Disappointing customer experience. Would never recommend or use this company again. Had a lot of trouble getting HALF of auto renewal charges for something I don't own back. I had to get Amex and BBB involved. AFC: stop charging unsuspecting people money and hiding behind hidden terms. This is not fair practice, you should be ashamed of earning extra profits this way. Please refund my remaining $350 you took 12 months ago and cease this shady no-confirmation automatic billing. If you don't hear positively to extend DO NOT CHARGE THEIR CARD.

    We bought our house recently and the seller included a home warranty through AFC. After the 30 day waiting period, we had an issue with our A/C and our dryer (both typically covered by a home warranty). We had them send an A/C guy out (our typical person doesn't work with home warranties as he's been burned). Their A/C guy confirmed that our house was not cooling but couldn't identify why. We obviously had to pay the $75 service fee for his time. However, AFC said, since he couldn't find an issue, they wouldn't pay for a second opinion and wouldn't do anything about the hot house.

    Our regular A/C guy came out and provided a second opinion (free) and AFC STILL refused to work with us. They said, "that can't break in 30 days - it must have already been broken." However, it was working when we moved in AND on the inspection report. In the meantime, they said they do would not cover the dryer as well even though it was included with the house and there was no issue with it at time of inspection. Then, we asked for a refund because at this point, they've done nothing and are refusing to help. These breaks happened the week after the 30 day wait. They said they would provide a refund MINUS 3 months of service. HOW?! We only had "service" maybe 40 days AND the first 30 days aren't even useable and the few that were usable - they refused to help. I'm not sure what they actually cover or how they have any positive reviews. Seems like a total scam in my experience.

    I submitted my first service request on April 7th for a plumbing clogging in my second bathroom. It did not get fixed until today April 16th. After the 3rd technician was assigned I am not sure why they had such a hard time finding me a dependable and competent plumber. And the worst thing about about it is I called twice to speak your supervisor. I was told my service was escalated and a supervisor will call me back within 24 hours. I am yet to hear from a supervisor.

    I called many times frustrated and upset until yesterday when I spoke to this agent. Her name is Jocelyn who was nice enough to find me a competent and reliable plumber that came out this morning and fix my issue. She was also nice enough to get the service fee waived for the inconvenience. I signed a three year contract and I do hope that this is a one-time problem that I will not have the same issue if I have to call again or when I call again in 3 years. I have to say the customer service agents were very nice but the service from the providers was lousy, and the supervisor as well very, very lousy.

    First I would like to point out that everyone I have talked to over the phone and via emails was extremely polite and a pleasure to work with. However, the handling of the claim is absolutely pitiful. AFC seems to believe that it is reasonable to deny a claim because of the existence of rust or mildew. There seems to be a lack of understanding of what a root cause is. In my recent case my AC evaporator failed which is a covered component. But AFC has denied the claim because the AC technician mentioned that there was rust and mildew in the inspection report. The rust and mildew is a symptom of the evaporator failure along side with my AC unit no longer cooling effectively because of leaking refrigerant. The lack of understanding between a root cause and symptom is severely disappointing and will impact my decision to renew my membership as well as recommend AFC to anyone in the future.
