This company is a scam! If you do not believe this review - go to the BBB website and read all of their reviews (tons of recent ones). Their sales reps will lie through their teeth over the phone to get you to sign up. They will tell you everything is covered, they have great service, great reimbursement, etc. FALSE. They will find every reason to deny you and IF they do not deny you, they will only pay a small portion (had thousands of dollars worth of plumbing done and they covered it "in full" - 500 dollars).
I've had First American for years before this and have always been reimbursed in FULL, never less than what even the labor costs are, let alone the actual parts! So even though they take your money every month for their monthly charge, it takes 4-6 weeks to get an electronic check (per them) but if you are reading all the reviews, it takes way longer. Here is the kicker, you cannot cancel your policy (even after they approved the reimbursement) until AFTER you get your check BECAUSE if you cancel before they actually send it out (which could take months btw) they will deny you your reimbursement. So they are making you pay for a coverage that you do not want over 100 dollars a month btw, just so you can get reimbursed (and this is after you eat their costs for service as well). BEWARE of this company... Do your research and do not fall for their lies. First American is way better and I'm sorry I left them for these scammers.

I have their platinum plan. I expected them to actually cover repairs. I place 2 claims during my policy period. One for air conditioning repair and 1 for my oven. The repair tech for the air conditioner was so frustrated that he said he would never work through them again. It took 2 months to get him paid. The total was about $200. I was on the phone with them several times to get him paid. The send claim was for the oven which they said was too old but would give me a check of about $200 towards the purchase of a new oven. So far no check. It’s overdue by about a month. They are essentially an insurance company that uses depreciation on all of your covered items. If it’s too old they won’t repair it or offer highly reduced coverage amounts towards the repair. I am going back to my old company that actually covers repairs. I have had several warranty companies through the years and they are the worse.

Since I joined AFC. I have called in to service requests, one for a major appliance, and one for my septic tank which I had called out specifically as an add-on in my contract. Both times AFC declined to assist me in the cost for repairs for either of these items. After the second episode with the septic tank, I demanded to speak to a manager or supervisor. I was told repeatedly that they're all in a meeting and I would be called back as soon as everybody got out. Call never came and I am now canceling my account with them. Do yourself a favor? Do not engage these people. They are frauds. They do absolutely nothing for you.

Absolutely worthless and very close to a total scam! Most every needed repair that I have placed a claim for is either excluded from coverage (in the fine print) or significantly qualified as to allowable amount to be reimbursed. Currently in the process of filing a formal complaint to the Federal Trade Commission and the Consumer Protection Division of my state.

This company is fraudulent. BEWARE. They will lie and tell you whatever they need to say to get you to sign up. I spoke with Patrick in Sales in July 2024 and he lied to me about what was covered for ACs. I asked explicit questions about coverage about multiple items in my home and he lied repeatedly saying they reimburse fully on equipment. They have very shady wording in their contract (which I read twice and still couldn't figure out) on how to screw customers out of paying claims. Chelsea in management backed their false claims. Do not expect management to protect the consumer. This company should be shut down.

I would like to read the contract before I agree to be covered. Is that unreasonable? Coverage is not specified. If an old heating or cooling or water heater breaks, what will be done? Everything is very vague. Why can the not send a contract? Something to hide?

Just don't do it. As a consumer our ASSUMPTION is that companies like these protect against older systems. It is the complete opposite. I was told that because of the AGE of my system they would only cover $100 towards cost of repair of water heater. They will fully cover new units that don't need coverage. When I called to cancel I was told by a supervisor "You should have read the fine print". Extremely unprofessional. Save the monthly fee you would pay them to repair your dated equipment.

Dealing with this company has been the worst experience. They have never paid or participated in any claim unless it involved brand new appliances or a house. All 3 claims I ended up paying out of pocket.

I was in the contract with the company for 6 months. I had two service requests: one for a cloth washer and the other for the Air Condition (A/C) problem. It happens at two different times. The first washer service, I paid for the service fee for technician to come and run diagnostic. AFC did not pay for anything. I had to pay from my own pocket for all the repair costs. The second services with A/C problem recently. The A/C tech repair costs is approx. $600 (fan motor and compressor replacement). AFC said they will pay ONLY $100 because my A/C is 10 plus years old. Guess what, they did not pay at all at the end after weeks of technician completed service.
This company will have a limited coverage or not cover at all. I have two bad experiences with this company for two different items (very typical issues) and both are not covered. I've been paying for monthly payment for the past 6 months and decide it's enough. I don't think they will pay for your broken items in your house or maybe they will pay with very minimal amount. What else do you expect them to cover. I have to cancel it and will look for different home warranty company. If you ask for my rating. I will have to give it a 1 (very BAD). Sorry.

Horrible company! It took them 6 days to dispatch someone to address my air conditioner problems. Two more days for them to offer a "resolution". During that time it was 112 - 115 degrees outside. There is no sense of urgency, or even a hint that they cared. They offered to pay $200 towards a $4500 repair estimate. A complete joke. Especially considering it costs $100 to file an incident report (not to mention the $60 per month membership fees). Needless to say, they have been cancelled. Don't waste your money.

This business will say anything to get you to purchase the policy. My dishwasher leaked, they sent out a technician who could not figure out why the dishwasher leaked and left without fixing the problem or recommended fix. That cost me $125 on top of my monthly premium and the dishwasher was still unusable. Fine, bought a washer. A month ago, I made a claim on my air conditioner. It took weeks to find a company that would deal with AFC, And even then, only with me acting as the middleman.
After nearly a month of back-and-forth, AFC has decided they’re not covering the diagnosis. This is antithetical to what Brian ** told me would happen when he sold me the policy. He told me, “We will cover whatever the diagnosis is from the technician.” Today I found out that is just something they tell you to get you to buy the policy. They are not going to cover it and even if they were, the entire experience has been misery. Do. Not. Give this company your business, you will regret it. I wish I had looked at BBB site before I had. Attempting to get a full refund, I’m not hopeful. This is not an honest business.

AFC was completely disappointing- save your money in an account instead of signing up with them. They seemed so trustworthy during the sign-up phase, but they are like a terrible HMO- trying to find any excuse not to pay your claims. I signed up for a three-year plan with them and they told me not to worry- all appliances would be covered. I even told them I had old appliances and would it be a problem and they said no, as long as I got regular maintenance. So I've been paying for regular maintenance on my old furnace and central AC for years.
Last year, the maintenance company tells me I might have a slow leak in my AC, and they have to do an expensive dye test and wait until the next year to be sure. AFC refuses to pay for the dye test, saying it is diagnostic. I am upset, but in the end, they say wait until the next year and then if anything is wrong, they will pay for it. This year, it is confirmed there is a slow leak in the refrigerator coil, and the recommendation is to replace the system since it is old, or at least the evaporator coil.
AFC sends a representative to check it out (more money), & although there is a make, model, and serial number for the outside and inside units, apparently the serial number on the evaporator coil itself has worn off over the years. They then deny my claim out of hand, refusing to pay to replace the system or the evaporator coil, saying it is their policy. As if I could possibly know that a piece INSIDE my unit has a serial number gone. I escalated the complaint to management and they just kept saying that was their policy and I was out of luck. Even when I asked to cancel my policy and get the last year refunded, they said they would take out a repair done the first year and only give me back peanuts. If I had known this company was so scammy, I would have saved my money. They promise you peace of mind for your appliances, then find the most ridiculous ways out of helping you. Definitely DO NOT get a policy from this company.

Please do not do business with this company. I placed two service calls. One for my refrigerator and one for my AC unit. My refrigerator is 7 years old and my AC is 6 years old. In both cases, service was denied because the techs diagnosed the issue as a "factory defect" which AFC does not cover. I contacted the manufacturer of my refrigerator (KitchenAid) who informed me the parts in question were not factory defects. The Kitchen Aid rep was conferenced in to a call with an AFC CSR to validate there were no factory defects with the refrigerator. Despite this, AFC stood by the incorrect diagnosis and would not provide repair coverage.
Prior to the AC tech's arrival, I did my due diligence on the unit and even contacted the manufacturer (Trane) to ensure there were no factory defects with my unit to which there were none. Once again, the tech sent by AFC deemed the broken item a 'factory defect' and AFC would not provide repair coverage. The only option given to me was to get a second opinion and even then, they would guarantee I would be reimbursed for out of pocket expenses. Needless to say, I have already submitted a cancellation and refund request to which I honestly don't expect them to honor that and keep my money. Again, please do not do business with this company as they are a complete rip off.

Absolute scam of a company. Will gladly take your money and nitpick every detail to not pay you out. Customer service is also terrible. I called them out on their deceptive policy and canceled and they didn’t even give me a response. I’m guessing because they probably get told what a scam they are on a daily basis.

Be very careful, read fine print. This company does not cover your appliances as they say they cover. I purchased a full year back in November, have not used it until 2 weeks ago when my fridge was acting up. I paid the $75 service fee and a tech came out 5 days later. Tech said compressor was bad, he relayed to AFC, AFC said the cost of the compressor fix was $900 so we recommend you get a new fridge, I said, "OK", then they said, "we value your fridge at $73...but we will give you $100 when you provide proof that you bought a new fridge or fixed it." I said,"ok give me the $100 and I will give you $73 so you can buy the fridge at some store that is selling fridges at $73..." How do you think this conversation ended?

Horrible experience. We purchased a home warranty for the home we were buying. Exactly 29 days after moving in our stove stopped working. I contacted AFC and they said I was out of luck because their home warranty did not kick in until day 30 UNLESS you had a home inspection. We did! I sent the report in as required and was told our claim was denied because it was noted on the report that the "center burner needs cleaning/adjustments." As I noted repeatedly via phone calls and email the center burner was working for 29 days as were the other 4 burners. Claim denied. I asked to speak to a manager and got a text stating that my claim was forwarded to a manager. Almost 24 hours later a manager called to tell me my claim was denied because of the center burner issue.
I realized then AFC was just in the business for the $$$$. I fired them and paid for a service technician to come out and fix the problem. Of course, the center burner had NOTHING to do with the problem. I am glad I found out about AFC before I really needed them for something major. My advice to everyone is to go anywhere else for a home warranty.

When I bought the policy they offered me better service than American home shield which was a lie. My refrigerator ice maker went down. I call them they send me to contact a company to schedule the repair. They didn't know who was AFC, comeback and contact them again. Finally someone show up. I pay the service fee of $75.00 and they said I need a new refrigerator. They didn't called. They send me a text message to contact them. Completely bias and unprofessional. They said my refrigerator only cost 599.67 and that's what they going to pay. They don't replace any domestic appliances. When I bought the policy they didn't said that.
But anyway and top of that they said I have to buy it first and then they will send that money like almost a month later. Don't get this company. Trust me and when I told them I want to cancel the policy even when I was talking to a manager. They told me to send a email for them to cancel the policy. My advice don't get this company at all. They charge too much and don't take responsibility for what they offered you as a customer.

After changing home warranty companies for the first time in years we quickly realized this company is trash! Read the fine print, old water heaters corrode and leak and none of it is covered. Look over their A/C policy as well! If you need little fixes it will probably suffice - but for the expensive stuff you need a home warranty for - it’s absolute garbage. I now have to buy a second policy because this one covers nothing and I need the reassurance I won’t be handing over another 2-5k for some other fix. Please don’t waste your money here.

It's been a good experience with AFC. They have sent somebody to fix some stuff. The most recent one is my dishwasher. However, they should have somebody to contact us about the maintenance stuff in the house if they have a tracking record. That's what I consider they can improve in their service.

The reps were very friendly and professional when I signed up with AFC. They understood the business. I was very satisfied with the plan options. I filed a claim for my air conditioner and they fixed it. But I had to call them back and it was the last day on my 30-day warranty. The contractor had to come out twice for one day to fix the same problem. The person that came out was very nice, and professional. The issue was something that he couldn't control but he was willing to come back and explain the whole situation.

I've been happy with AFC, so far. I used it once for the air conditioner. I paid the deductible and they took care of the issue. We're back up and running. It was very easy. The tech was so nice. Right away, he knew exactly what the issue was. By the time I got home, the house was cool again. I'm thankful for the service. It was a weekend too, when I called. Somebody answered the call and told me not to worry, that someone would reach out to me. And that was exactly what happened.

I've had about two claims with AFC and there were no problems. I had a toilet that was overflowing and I was worried because the weekend was coming up. Usually, it takes about two to three business days for someone to come out. Sometimes, it's a bit sooner. With this one, I had somebody out here the very next day. The tech from The Log Doctor resolved it so I'm pleased. I like them. My other claim with AFC went well. My experience with them has been very good and I plan on staying with them. The prices are very good, but I'm more pleased with the service that I received and the interactions with the company.

I'm planning to cancel my warranty with America's 1st Choice because I figured they're not gonna cover anything. So, I'm just paying for nothing. When something went wrong with the HVAC, I let them know. My outside unit was running all the time, but we were not getting any air. They scheduled a technician that would come to check. AFC denied my claim saying it was due to improper installation. They didn't offer any resolution. I just found somebody else and I changed the HVAC system.

We've had a good experience with AFC. Their call center is responsive. They're English-speaking. They're attentive and they always follow up. Everyone they've sent out has been very professional and very good at their job. My recent claim was for a washing machine. They've offered us a sum to replace the washer. They've been totally professional and great.

I've had a good experience with America's 1st Choice Home Club. They were able to answer my questions and were willing to switch me over to find me another repair person if I wanted it. And they called the repair person on my behalf to find out what was going on, and we found out that it was a problem with shipping the part. So, they did well.

I filed a claim online and then America's First called me to confirm what was going on. The contractor called me and they said, "I apologize to start, but all I have is your name and a phone number. I don't even have what appliance you're gonna be seeking help with. I don't have anything." So it was a little bit weird that there was a total disconnect between America's First and their vendors. But then, the vendor came out, and they were very smart. They fixed the problem and it was just a $75 fee.
On the vendor's end, they implied that I paid them more than $75. So America's First immediately called me and asked if I could submit the receipt. So I did and then they called me saying, "Hey, why did you submit a receipt? It was only the $75." I replied that someone told me to submit the receipt and I wasn't expecting any money back. Then someone explained to me that on the vendor end, the tech clicked it once and said that I gave more money because there was another fix. But I had not. So somewhere along the way, it got closed out. It took a little longer than I would think for it to. But I didn't mind because if I paid more than the 75, I assume I would have sent it back.

When I called AFC, the representative was very informative and patient. I asked him questions about what they serviced, what was included in the contract, how much the fees were, what type of response time they had from their contractors, and how much my deductible was. I informed him about new appliances that we had and then I asked for the fee. He told me the fee and then I told him I would think about it and call him back. I looked at some other companies, and in about two months, I called him back and decided on AFC. I also liked them because they told me that I can choose the repair company that I want. I don't have to necessarily go with their contractor.
I called AFC when we were having difficulties with our washing machine. It quit running. They took the brand of the washing machine and when the difficulty started. Then they gave us a service company to come out and within 24 hours, the tech called me, but he couldn't come out within a timely fashion that I wanted him to. So I called AFC back and they gave me another service provider. The other tech came out quickly and repaired our washing machine. He was prompt and had the parts right there.

The technicians have usually been good. But the customer service is mediocre. It's hard to get a hold of somebody sometimes. Instead of me calling in and getting stuck with a random representative, individual agents should be able to be reached through a specialized extension for each one of them. When I signed up, it seemed like it was a great policy but when I go to get a repair, they say, "Oh, that's exempted. Oh, that we don't cover."
The other drawback is that we live in rural Connecticut and when I call for service, they have to find a technician. They give me the option to use my own technician, but being out here, I do not know who provides this type of service. I leave it up to them and they do not have a list of technicians who provide some of the services. We had a plumbing issue and they tried to find somebody but they couldn't. Then they said, "Do you wanna use your own plumber?" I said, "Well, I can't because my regular plumber is retired and the other person that I can rely on is not licensed. So you're not gonna go ahead and cover an unlicensed technician to come out and do my repair."

AVOID THIS COMPANY! AFC Home Club is a scam for homeowners. Awful terms for the home owner and they hide behind their contract instead of doing what's right. This is a value plan, NOT a fix or replace. They will pay you for the value of the appliance (which they determine) if they cannot fix. My stove top went out and since it wasn't purchased within 5 years they refused to replace and only offered 1/10th of the cost of a new one.
When I went to cancel months later they refused a refund for the last two months citing that since I used the plan no refund would be given. And added on a $75 cancelation fee. So I paid for the plan, paid for the technician to view a claim, paid to replace the stovetop ($1700 minus the $150 "value"), and then had my refund canceled due the $150 payout. Predatory Scam with no value.

We went through the normal set up and the America's 1st Choice Home Club rep went through what kind of coverage I had, making sure I had everything included, knowing what I would pay, and understood what I would do if I needed it which I have a couple of times now. They've been very helpful in navigating what I needed to do to complete or fix the issue that was going on. The one I just went through where I had somebody come out and I needed to understand what I needed to do next and they explained how to process the service call and how to do that. Everything seemed straightforward. We had an issue with one of our flume pipes for our water heater broke, and we had to get Benjamin Franklin Plumbing out. They were very good, helpful and speedy. AFC did well and were helpful. You should work with them.

We have AFC in three different properties. The times we've used them, the service has been immediate. I’ve had an oven, electrical, plumbing and AC issues. The only one that has been lengthy is the claim for the oven. The repairs were up to $400 which was close to the price value of the stove. We opted for getting a new one and getting that money that they were gonna pay for a repair back. It's been about a month now, but we haven't seen that money yet. As of last week, they told me that if I didn't see the money by the 28th, I should call back.

I tried to use my policy for the first time last weekend, when my 2 1/2 year old AC went out. AFC found that my AC was still under manufacturer's warranty. The warranty is for parts only. AFC would NOT cover the trip charge or labor for this repair. So, if you are a senior citizen and want to buy a home warranty policy so that you can depend on a company to fix your appliances, stay away from AFC.
When your manufacturer's warranty only covers parts replacements, as most do, AFC will NOT be there for you. Of course, they don't tell you this before you pay big monthly installments for months on end. They wait until the hottest weekend of the summer and your AC is out, to say "we don't double warranty", even though the manufacturer does NOT provide a warranty on the trip charge or labor. I don't know who they think they would be doubling with. . .They make so sense. They should pay for the repair and get reimbursed for the parts. They go out of their way to avoid paying for repairs. Buyer BEWARE.

Compared to my old one, America's 1st Choice has been very good. I recently had a claim for the air conditioner where the compressor broke and the claims process was very simple. They didn't really do much, other than sending the representative out here. He did the work and I haven't heard from them since.

I liked the way the America's 1st Choice Home Club program went and that I pay for two years but on my third year, I don't have to pay anything. The first time I had to make a claim with them was for my furnace and they told me that there would be a technician coming on Saturday between 10:00 and noon. But nobody ever came, nobody ever called, and nobody ever followed up. So I called America's 1st Choice Home Club and they said they'd check into it. A week later, I still heard nothing. So we went back and forth on it and eventually, they gave me a quote and I was told that my furnace needed to be replaced. But then, they said they wouldn't do it for certain reasons.
The second time I used them was for my refrigerator that wasn't being as cold as I thought it should be. I had to have a tech come and he was great. He came when he was supposed to and he waited about an hour and a half waiting for them to get back to him when he gave them the estimate of what was needed to be done. They never got back to him but the tech was being really good. This was on a Tuesday and I was leaving to go out of the country on Friday. I was having a house sitter in and I had a timeline.
The tech said that if they got back to us, he would make sure that he would be here. So I called America's 1st Choice Home Club at 5 o'clock and they said it was in process. They weren't caring. I told them that they were already batting minus 500, if that's even possible, and ff they messed it up, I'd be gone for good. And lo and behold, amazingly, by the power of the gods, within five minutes, I had a text saying that a decision had been made and the decision was that they approved it.
Other than that, they should be more upfront and more clear as far as what's covered and what isn't. Then, the big thing that they need to improve on is the customer service. The customer is the reason they're in business and they need to care. When my claim concerns my furnace and it's winter, to be put off as long as I was, was absolutely ridiculous. Also, I'm having the one to be the one following up and that's not what I'm them paying for.

Signing up with AFC was easy. It was also easy to submit a claim with them. I went online, submitted a claim, made a phone call to verify something, and three days later, my problem was fixed. The techs who came out were excellent. They replaced a fill valve in a toilet and since then, it's performance has been perfect. All in all, I'm very happy with AFC.

I had ongoing issues with my refrigerator and the service came very quickly. But the repairs it needed was going to cost over five grand and at that point, you could end up with more problems. So it was beneficial to replace it. Also, AFC wasn't going to cover the repairs. In the end, they gave me $700 for a $12,000 Viking refrigerator. I pay almost $1,000 a year for the warranty and even if I didn't have a high-end refrigerator, the amount that they reimbursed or covered was very small. So, it's not a good financial investment. Aside from that, if I have an issue, they always want me to find my own vendor and one time, I had a hard time getting compensated that I don't even know if I ever did get compensated. So, I was thinking of dropping them.

We had a claim for our pool. The techs repaired a leak in the pipes and referred us to someone. We asked the person who came out for an additional price on something and they gave us the wrong price. They realized that and never followed up with us. But that was the second time we used that company. The first time, we were under contract with AFC and they were very thorough. With AFC, I have peace of mind if something goes wrong. Service has been fairly good.

I had a situation where I needed a repair done and the techs were unable to fix my dishwasher. I was told that I qualified for a certain amount of money towards a new appliance. Then, I was called back later on and told that was not the case. That was not to my satisfaction. Other than that, I like that they respond quickly and that the service people knew what they were doing. They were polite and they tried to fix the problem. In that way, I was satisfied.

America's First Choice has been easy to work with. We've had a water leak that we had our own plumber come in in an emergency. They covered it because it was an issue that was covered on the policy. We've had some other stuff where we went through their process and had them send a professional. We haven't had any issues where we had red tape or things that should have been covered or an issue for submitting a claim. The only thing that could be a little bit better is when you use your own provider. It's not clear exactly what you need from them. If there was a form you can ask them to fill out and submit versus having to get somebody on the phone, that would be good. I called them, and they got the information they needed on the spot but there was a little bit of frustration from the plumber that he had to do that in order for us go through the claim.

I learned the first work order that I put in had some type of 90-day threshold or grace period. They were only going to pay up to $150 on the repair. I submitted my first request online on their portal and I was able to say what it was. Once that happened, I was contacted within 48 hours if I wanted a technician to come out to the home. They came out and did their assessment. I had to work through my property manager because I used AFC for a rental property. I had them talking back and forth, and I've seen a lot of email traffic. I had to pay the $75 service fee and then I got the recommendations of how I wanted to proceed forward. Once I made my choice, it was pretty easy after that. A pump went out on my dishwasher, and they gave me the option to offer me the difference between the repair cost and the difference in how much a new unit will cost. So we pretty much settled on replacing that appliance. It wasn't that bad.

It's been a good service. We're happy with America's First Choice. I've enjoyed it a lot more than I've enjoyed the previous warranty company. They don't force us to use a contractor that they assign, which is nice. Because sometimes, if the contractor isn't available or if I know of the contractor who they're gonna assign and I don't like them, it's better to find one myself, and then they'll pay for it. America's First Choice is also pretty affordable and they have good customer service.

Go with America's 1st Choice Home Club. It was my first experience with this on my own, and I had a great experience. It was a smooth and stress-free experience between Rainwater, the person that did the work, and AFC on the phone. I called them and said, "One of my air conditioning units is cutting off," and they said, "What do you mean cutting off?" I said, "It's not warming up but it keeps cutting off. Like it turns on, so it works. But it doesn't do like the whole, 'Oh, I'm at my temperature, I'm turning off.' It still stays warm in the house." So, they asked me, "You can get someone to come look at it, and then when they're there, have you call us and have the technician get on the phone with you so they can diagnose the unit for us."
I wasn't sure who I should call because there are a lot of scam artist AC people out there. AFC would send me a list, but they didn't send it. And for some reason, the lines of communication got cut off because I didn't have my paperwork for AFC with me to give them my account number, and I had to call back. When I did, the lines got crisscrossed between the first agent and the second agent I spoke to, and I never got a list of AC people, and they just listed it as I would get another AC company to look at it on my own. So, when the second agent guy told me that, I said, "So, that's been decided that I have to go search for someone. That's fine. I'll search for someone with a known name that I hope does well."
I decided with Rainwater because they've been out to the house before and they were very decent in price. I went with them and it was simple. The guy came to the site, he diagnosed the AC, I got on the phone with AFC, and the technician on their line took all the information from the technician I had from Rainwater, and they asked me whether I wanted to get reimbursed or do they wanna deal with AFC themselves.
The guy from Rainwater explained to me that most companies and some of their people don't like to deal with warranty companies. I asked why. He said, "Because of the whole waiting period to get paid." That made me make my decision on, "I'll pay it and you guys reimburse me." And it was simple. I told the agent, "I'll get reimbursed. I'll pay him. I had to submit the claim that I paid, the receipt, and I had to wait for my check." The job was done and it was done correctly from a company that I trust.
My units are 23 years old. They have been well taken care of. And I had several people come out and told me that I needed to replace my entire unit and they gave me thousands. So, when I called the Rainwater company, the guy said that my numbers were astronomical. They were doing great. He said, "I'm only worried about this number because it should be 20 but it reached 50. But I'm surprised that your unit is still working with that reading." And what he did was he changed the heating element capacitor and the cooling element capacitor because my unit is a furnace and air conditioner together. He said, "If you're gonna change one, you gotta change the other because they lean on each other." He was the cheapest.
The only thing I was deterred about was when I spoke to AFC, I wasn't explained that the service charge would come out of my pocket. I thought they paid for it. But they backed out the $75 surcharge. I'm good with that. They paid the $210 for the two capacitors. I have a commercial property and I wanted to see if maybe they do businesses or franchises. My first plan for the rental house was a couple of months before I got the one that was about to expire on the new house. I just wanted to wrap everything together, and the rep was able to give me that pleasant feeling of doing everything, that way, I got one bill a month. Also, I called them and said, "I have another house and I would like to put it on there. It's gonna be expired now on May the 20th. I don't know if I need to wait till May the 20th or if I can get on right now." And the guy in AFC was very nice and explained it, "Let's get you started."

I live in a rental house and part of my rental agreement with my landlord is that I keep up with the home warranty. I settled on AFC because of the price and, so far, so good. It's been easy. I've had a couple of claims, and the most recent one was for a dishwasher that went out. I paid the $100 deductible and the claim process took a couple of weeks, but that's because I travel for work. AFC was quick. The guy came out the same day, checked it out and called in the claim. He was friendly and professional and I felt safe with him. AFC told me that they would give me money towards the new dishwasher. The check turnaround time took a little while, but it sounds like it's just one lady that does all the checks.
I also had some issues with AFC with plumbing stoppages, and it was hard because of the technician they sent out first. This was back in November and there was some miscommunication about the first plumber they sent out and his price and wanting to do a service versus who actually came out and did the job right. They wanted to argue over a discrepancy, but I got paid out in the end.

I was so dissatisfied with America's 1st Choice Home Club that I had to cancel it. The people are communicative and very friendly. But it was a constant nickel and diming and them not living up to what I felt like they were responsible for. I went forward with AFC because they allowed for my own contractors to work. I've been working with contractors over the past couple of years, so I know specifically who knows the different models and units, and the appliances that I have in that condo.
I've had multiple claims. Unfortunately, AFC was unable to fulfill any of them. I had a very frustrating experience. Everything that went wrong, they kept trying to weasel out of it. For instance, the hot water heater had to be replaced. So, they said they would give me $50 for the hot water heater but it was is a $600 thing for us. At least $600 to $800 I would have to pay to have the installation done. And they said, "It's too old." It had been 10 years since I got the hot water heater. It seems they have a lot of fine print scattered across what they say they would do. And at some point, I wasn't breaking even on paying the $50 per month for the warranty.
One of the things they said was they don't cover the HVAC model that I have for my heating and cooling system. That was frustrating because I have a heating and cooling system on my actual warranty. So why not this type of HVAC? I had a huge electrical issue and I had electrical systems covered in all of my warranty as well. They wanted me to make the determination before they sent out a person. I said, "How could I know what the issue is? I need you guys to diagnose what the issue is." I'm not an electrician.

The communication has been great. The reps would answer the phone. They would get back to me. I usually call America's 1st Choice Home Club, then submit my receipts like I had to do before, because I had to pay out both times. The first time, they reimbursed me. But that took two weeks. They had to send it via e-check.
I paid for extra because I have a septic system. The house was inspected and was up to par, but we had a stoppage. America's 1st Choice Home Club told me it could be 24 to 48 hours before they could get someone out here. So, we couldn't use the bathroom. But I could go ahead and find someone myself and pay for it and they would reimburse me less the $75 contract fee, which I did and they did. But the aerator went out on the septic. They wouldn't cover it because I hadn't paid in enough on the contract. So, they applied the cost that it cost me, $500, minus the $75. They applied that to my contract as if they reimbursed my contract for the money that I paid so now I'm only paying $33 a month instead of $50 a month. The plumbing company I chose would not work with America's 1st Choice Home Club because it takes forever to get paid and they refused. I’m not happy with AFC. Do not use them.

It was pretty easy to set up a service with AFC. I called then someone called me back and walked me through the process. It was all done over the phone. With AFC, you can find your own person, which is what I liked about their warranty. It's easier when you have that option. So far, I haven't used anyone that they found and for my recent claim, I just found my own person because I was trying to get the work done fairly quickly. It was for the air conditioning and it was in the middle of summer. They couldn't find someone fast enough so I did my own search.
Then, to get the person paid, they had to call AFC and I would have to submit a bill from the company in order to get reimbursed. But for my AC claim, I ended up not getting reimbursed because the guy didn't provide the right kind of invoice. I had another claim for the stove and that one was a fairly easy process where the contractor got reimbursed. All in all, AFC's service works out better than other home warranty companies because of the option to find your own contractor. Aside from that, at least for now, they're in Georgia. So, when you call them, the reps are local and they're actually in the office as part of the corporation that's able to make decisions. That was a huge plus as well.

AFC communicates well. They're speedy with their responses. All around, it's a great service. When I call them, they take our information and within 24 hours, I have a technician calling me. The technicians are top grade. I sent in two claims the same day when my dishwasher quit and my washer would not drain. They sent out one technician for both issues. He took care of it within two days. I'm a very busy mother. I have two daughters that play sports 24/7. We travel out of town to play sports. Knowing that I can call AFC and know the issue is gonna get taken care of takes the worry and burden off myself.

I've submitted claims multiple times and they are always satisfactorily covered. We choose our own contractor when it's stuff at home because we're able to get someone out faster. AFC just gives us an option once we open a claim to call our own contractor and have them submit the diagnosis for approval to them. AFC is worth trying out at least once and comparing.

I used to have a home warranty with another company, and I was less than satisfied with their response. I came across America's 1st Choice from the internet, and I've been comparing them with some other people, and I like the services they offered. I also like that you can choose your own technician if you want to. They've been great. Responses are very timely, they work to reach resolutions, and I've been very satisfied.
I had plumbing repairs. I had a toilet and an outside faucet repaired. They ended up helping me replace my dishwasher, too. The cost of my dishwasher to be fixed was gonna be more than it was worth. I had to pay out of pocket only because the dishwasher was several years old. The technicians were great. Having AFC, I don't have to worry about putting down a whole lot of money, or when somebody comes to check something, instead of hearing that whole, "It's gonna be $2,000 or something like that," there's a possibility that it could be covered. That's a big relief.

What I like most about AFC is the convenience that if I have something going on, I can explain it to them and they tell me if it's covered and set up an appointment. They give me the contractor's name and the day and time they are coming. They also tell me the service fee that I'll be responsible for the day the contractor comes. The contractors have been of sufficient quality.
So far, everybody has been able to help me with issues except for two. One was with my dishwasher. The contractor couldn't find anything wrong with it but it was leaking. AFC ended up just closing out the case. I tried to buy another one and Home Depot messed up the order. So, I'm still without a dishwasher. The second issue was with a toilet. They fixed the issue with that, but it ended up going out again. I ended up replacing all the toilets.
Other than that, AFC is way cheaper than going through a regular contractor. I recommend them. They're price-efficient and they're good at following up and resolving issues.

Submitting a claim has been great. I needed my air conditioner fixed just recently. At first, we didn't realize that the warranty covered the air conditioner. We thought it just covered our appliances like our refrigerator and stove. The mechanic came at our convenience. The AFC people kept in contact with us, let us know what was going on and what the mechanic was saying. The mechanic diagnosed the issue the same day he came out. We had to wait a couple of days for him to get the part then we had him come out and put it in. The mechanic made sure that the air conditioner and heater worked. Look into AFC. For what we got, it wasn't expensive at all.

This is another total Fraud and money scamming company that will scam you out of every hard earned penny that you've earned. I signed up with them in May of 2022 on a 36 month extended warranty program, when I submitted my first claim on March 2, 2023, it was a total nightmare in getting my claim approved, from the customer service to their managers who had no clue with customer service experience whatsoever, a total catastrophe. When my 1st claim was finally approved it only covered 1/3 of the cost.
When I didn't accepted it, and fought it to their long enduring process taking over 2 weeks, and it went to their highest level of supervision, they finally approved the second defective part, but they failed to disclose to me when I signed up, that if my plan is not paid up in full when you submit a claim, "The Payment Automatically Goes to Pay off the balance of your account" as per the agreement that you signed. So don't count on ever repairing appliance with AFC.
The following is what they do not disclosed to you when you sign away your money:
1) In a 36 month plan they will only cover you $3,000.00, but it will take over 7 yrs of claims to ever see that amount due to low percentage amount that they approve to pay out.2) If your plan is not paid up in full when you submit a claim, "The Payment Automatically Goes to Pay off the balance of your account.
3) If they send a technician and they further damage or create extra damage to your appliance, you are on your own in dealing with them to correct pay for the additional damaged as per your signed agreement with AFC.
4) If you cancel your plan with AFC after they have paid some of your claims, as per your agreement, you will be paying them back ALL that money back.5) If you have a dispute that they refuse to correct (like me), as per your agreement, you will have to their arbitration, and if you do go to arbitration, you will lose any chance or benefit that they offered you and nail you to the cross with any or every charge that they can get away with.
Consumers be aware and use your hard earned money in purchasing an extended service plan from the manufacture of your appliance, not a third party scam company as AFC Home Club.

The representative that helped me sign up with America's 1st Choice was great. He was very, very informative, kind, welcoming, and warm. I did a claim on the dryer. The heat sensor went out. The tech was great. He was kind as well. Work ethic was awesome. He was on point. He was very descriptive on what the problem was, he provided a solution, and was very quick on actually executing on that solution and fixing the problem. The claim process at AFC was really easy. I had to submit my invoice online, and then they got in touch to do the diagnosis. Working with the techs was good, too. They resolved everything the same day. AFC is worth it and it's also much cheaper. The benefit is having all your appliances covered and you don't have to necessarily pay a huge chunk out of pocket. And if you do, with AFC, you basically get a refund.

The salespersons were very knowledgeable and helpful. They were honest compared to most home warranties and they've lived up to their word. My rep made some suggestions on other warranties that I'd had in the past which was very helpful. Submitting a claim was amazing. Something went crazy with my refrigerator. The contractor came the next day and the tech got the part. They were knowledgeable and even did some extra stuff to make sure the job was done professionally. It was the best process I've ever had with any warranty company. They paid the contractor immediately and with no hassle. Whoever they use for their vendors is clearly competent.

The rep was a very nice guy and there was no pressure. I like the idea that I could come up with my own contractor to fix whatever the problem is. Recently, I needed somebody to fix the oven. I called them and they said, "Do you have somebody?" I said, "No." They said, "Okay, we'll get someone." So they got someone. The tech showed up two days later and he was a pain. I didn't care for him at all. I said, "Well, you gotta call the insurance company and tell them what's wrong and get the okay on it." He said, "Oh, I don't have time for that." I replied, "Well, then you shouldn't have taken the job. You know when you go through these insurance companies, that's what you have to do" Fortunately, the guy wasn't that good. It took about a half hour for him to insert what he had to do to fix the problem.
I was on the phone for half an hour with AFC to get approval. It wound up okay as he was there long enough where he got the approval from the insurance company. AFC paid for it but they took too long on the phone. They need to speed up the approval. You can't expect a contractor to come in and wait 45 minutes to get an approval. If he would have gotten out fast, then I would have had gone through the paperwork and paid him, then get reimbursed by AFC. That's terrible.

I've used America's 1st Choice's services twice. One of the times was for a water heater, but it was still under manufacturer's warranty so they didn't cover it. The other time was with garage door issues. They were a little slow on getting contact with the repair person and it took a few days to get things done, but they took care of it. I paid the repairman the full value and they reimbursed me the coverage minus the $60 charge.

All of my claims with AFC Home Club have been easy. Initially, I called them. The lady asked all the questions and told me I could get my own repair technician that was licensed. The second time, I went online and put the claim in. They called, got some more information and, again, told me I could choose whoever I wanted as long as they were licensed. Everything went by so smoothly. I already recommended a few people to AFC Home Club and I just renewed my policy with them two months ago.

Our dishwasher gave out and they paid. This past month, we had to do some electrical work and we were really hit because we had to bring everything to code in the house. I emailed them the invoice and they responded within an hour to say my claim was approved. They told me to send a picture of the AC and they emailed me the checks. I wish the amount was 10 times more but they gave me the max for everything.

Our experience with their reps has been excellent. The signup process was very clear. They followed up with a summary. There were no questions or lingering doubts. We've had several claims and they let us pick a contractor and just submit the bill. They are very prompt at getting everything reimbursed. We've been assigned a go-to person who happens to be the department head. The home warranty has been a godsend. With it, we don't have to worry too much about things. They don't always pay 100% of it because maybe the issue is with an appliance that is really old but the proration is very fair.

Submitting claims with America's 1st Choice Home Club is not a difficult thing to do but I'm not happy with the results every time. There's always the little fine print that you don't see when you first sign up and I don't like the little nitpicky rules and get-arounds that they seem to find to not cover your issue. But they've been fair, so far. In some cases, I choose the contractor that comes out and I like that. But in other cases, they choose and I know nothing about who's coming out.

I'm very pleased with AFC Home Club. I submitted a claim about three weeks ago and they were very helpful and professional. They called to check on it and see if the repair people showed up. The first repair man they sent though, I wouldn't hire him to wipe my baby's butt. My icemaker wasn't dispensing, so he came out there and didn't put any meter to it. He said, "The motor's gone bad. I'm gonna order you one."
When the repair man came back a week later, he brought in an ice tray. He said that's the problem. I said, "Well, that ain't what you said a week and a half ago." The ice tray went in and it didn't change anything. He left that Friday and said, "I'm gonna go and order the motor and I'll be back," then I didn't hear from him. AFC called me, and I told them what he did and they said, "Well, he called in and told me he didn't know what the problem was." I said, "Well, he's in the wrong darn business." Within 24 hours, AFC had somebody else out there and the second guy had my ice maker fixed within 15 minutes. Homeowners should get a home warranty. It will save them a lot of money.

I'm disappointed with AFC because they don't normally include the cost of installation. For example, I had to have a garage door opener replaced, but I had to fight with them to get them to pay for the installation of it. They said they only cover the cost of the item. But the repair people have done a good job.

I had a microwave go out. I wasn't really happy with the way they treated me and what they wanted to do because I wanted the microwave to match the existing microwave that was in my house. I found the microwave. But they let me speak to a supervisor named Karen. She was extremely kind and understanding. She assessed the situation and we came to an amicable agreement on what needed to be done and took care of the situation. It's been a good experience for me. However, if they're issuing a check for something, it takes a long time to get the check.
I had an air conditioning technician come out a couple of weeks ago. He said one of the windings on one of my compressors was going bad and my units are old. Eventually, that means that the unit is gonna go bad and they're gonna have to replace the unit. But he got it fixed by just putting the capacitor in it. They paid the bill and sent me a check for that. Everything that I have had an issue with has been taken care of as promised by AFC.

They had to find a particular technician and when they did, the guy represented here very well. I needed them when we had bad weather and had a frozen pipe. They had a quick response to my phone call and they were great. I ended up not using the warranty because I fixed the issue myself and called them back on the second day to cancel the request I put in for service. But I appreciated the quick response and that their reps are very informative and have the knowledge about things. Seeing how the process goes made me feel comfortable. When I would call, the people were nice and gave me the information that I needed. I had a claim for my pool pump. Edison knocked out our power because they were doing some updates. I couldn't figure out how to reset the time so it’d work properly and AFC Home Club gave me a list of people. I called a tech and he came out, did the job, and charged me his fee of 65. The pool guy that came out was really nice. Then, about a week later the Edison generator down the street was leaking oil so they had to shut our power off again. I called AFC again and they said to get the tech back and get a receipt. I did and this time, he showed me exactly how to do it. AFC gave me the address of where to mail in the copy of the receipts that I got from him and they sent me a check for the extra that I paid.

I called them for some repairs. The person that received my call made the claim. But she explained that it wasn't in my plan. She was very helpful with that. They're also very patient and they will answer all the questions you have. All the coverage that it provides with the cost is also reasonable.

We've attempted to use AFC twice, and both times, it worked out fine. They've been responsive both times. The tech that came in fixed the washing machine and the dishwasher in just a few minutes. He was very good.

America's First Choice reps are very professional, timely and willing to answer any questions I have. Anytime I have any claims, they contact me immediately. I put them in through my phone. It's usually within a couple of hours they'll contact me and send one out. Or I'll already have a technician and then I'll just get that reimbursed. I had my sump pump done and the techs had to look at my washing machine. It’s been a good experience.

When we call and let them know that we have a problem, they try their best to get somebody to contact us to come and check out the problem and do the repairs. The techs have been very good as well. Recently, our toilet would run and we'd stop it. Then it would run again. The techs got everything they needed to resolve the issue the day they came out. We've been happy with AFC.

I needed to use AFC when the sink clogged, and when the dryer stopped drying. We were pretty happy with them. I just logged the issue on their website and I didn't even call them. They found the technician, and then they followed up till the technician had scheduled in with me. They also followed up once the technician came in. It was pretty okay. There was no hassle at all. There was no surprise, I paid out of pocket for the initial visit and the consult, and they agreed on the rate and covered everything else.

The service is fine. In comparison to my previous experiences with home warranties, the reps seem to be very flexible and accommodating. I can email or call and talk to a person. Also, they were really flexible with the payment options. I have peace of mind knowing that with them, I can find my own person to do repairs and they'll still reimburse.

Since I've had them for three years, I've only used them three times and it was fine. I had to pay out of pocket for some plumbing issues because it happened over the holiday. But I sent them the bill and they were saying they would reimburse me up to what they would approve. I would always have to pay that service fee of 75 but then they would pay the plumber whatever they would approve. Like it was 200 some dollars, then anything other than that, I would have had to pay out of pocket regardless.
The claim submission process was very smooth and easy. I was on the phone with them when I made my claim. They told me who it was that they were sending. They also told me how much my service fee was going to be and let me know that they have to approve the work before the contractor actually does the services. They even send somebody who I know who is licensed. I can also tell them that I want to use my person. With AFC, I don't have to worry about my appliances because I know it's gonna be taken care of. I've told several people that they should use their services.

When we called last, it was not something they covered, but before we realized that, we had talked to them and they had said that all we had to do is get my own contractor. The plumber we got was who we would have used had America's 1st Choice covered the claim. He was excellent and he did a great job.

I had AC problems. America's First Choice needed me to have preventative maintenance, which I had, but they kept saying the details were missing. Every other warranty that I talked to didn't require preventative maintenance. I had just bought the house. Why would I automatically do maintenance that was just done in January by the sellers? That's how warranties or policies are set up. Everything has that reason to not be covered.
I let America's First Choice pick one of the techs. The next time, I picked the tech. They were fine. It just seemed very unorganized on both ends. I would call and ask for an update and they say, "We already told you it's not covered." But I never heard that or why. America's First Choice did not help me at all. I wouldn't have paid for it if the sellers didn't provide it. I really wasn't happy with it. I got $200 for my $10,000 AC unit. I probably wouldn't do this warranty again. It sucked.

I've had several relatively small claims that America's First Choice has covered quite nicely. My claims have been small enough that they just tell me to get my own person to come out. So, they haven't had to wait for them to send anybody out. I had a leaking toilet and a fan that were acting up. They were just a couple hundred dollar things. I'm sure if I had a problem with the air conditioning system, they'd send someone out to evaluate it. I did have a garage door opener go bad. I've had other home policies and I'm very pleased with AFC. I've been totally satisfied.

I like that AFC lets me kinda choose somebody I knew or that I had heard of locally. I had a plug-in that wasn't working and the electricians came and said they fixed it. They also fixed the light in the living room for me. But the plug-in still doesn't work so they're coming back. They've been real good about responding.

The gentleman from America's 1st Choice I purchased from was very good and persuasive, and I got a better deal than I would have gotten. It's just there was a little dishonesty in the coverage on the appliances. They make it sound like, "Oh, yeah, well, you're covered, blah, blah, blah." The minute they find out it's something then they say, "Oh, well it's not covered because this part went out and it caused this part to go out." There's a little of that going on. I do like the people that I've tried to work with. They do seem to be better than average. I just don't like their policy, and it's not clear when you purchase it.

My AC unit went out and the tech said it's not worth fixing. But AFC Home Club depreciated almost the whole thing. They were only giving me $200 for a unit that costs 10,000. They appreciate it based on the age of the appliance. I'm sure it’s somewhere in the fine print that I didn't read. That one kinda stung. Other than that, they've done well on various small stuff. The heating element of my oven went out and they covered all that. But it's a very new oven. They might do good on newer stuff but on older stuff, they do not do a good job. The plus is they allow me to pick my own contractor. Some places don't do that.

For my first claim with AFC in over a year and a half, they gave me a hard time over a technicality (they stated a failure was caused by a rodent since the tech pulled out an old mouse carcass that had died some time ago even after the tech said that it was unlikely the main cause of failure since the heater had stopped working last week and that mouse looked like it was months decomposed). They only offered $250 out of a $1400 repair. AFC said they were a value-based warranty company which meant they would only compensate for the current value of the heater instead of what it would cost to replace it with a new one. I signed up with the impression that the full cost of a new unit would be covered in the case of a failure. Charging me for a service I didn't use, and then when I finally did was inadequate and failed to meet expectations is absurd. On top of that instead of trying to remedy the situation, they charged an additional $75 cancellation fee.
Maintenance by a licensed technician occasionally on these units is important, the technician can see items like this before they become an issue. While we understand you did it yourself sometimes these things happen that homeowners cannot get access to view. We did offer you the value of the unit since it was not a covered item. When the failure is excluded as goodwill, we can offer the value but, in this case, you elected not to move forward. In the interest of customer service, we are happy to waive the cancellation fee. We issued a refund previously and appreciate your time in this matter

My washer stopped working. I tried LG’s website where they give you hints of how to troubleshoot, and nothing was working. I submitted the form through AFC. After four days, including a weekend, they couldn't find a technician that would work with them. So, I had to go find the technician. I'm very angry at them right now. They are a scam, they're liars and they do not hold up to what they advertise. It's all false advertisements. They say they're going to cover a repair or they're going to cover a technician just coming out. But then they don't. Then they come back to you and say, “Oh, yeah, because it was old.” But, I told them it was old when I got signed up, and they said, “Yes. We cover it. We'll do the cost of what it would be to buy a new one.”

The last experience I had with America's 1st Choice was perfectly seamless but the first experience was horrible and it was the dead of summer. My son is disabled and the air went out, and after I filed the claim, they told me it would be faster if I find somebody myself. So, I found a repair guy and the guy finished up. I called America's 1st Choice about payment and it turned out I would have to pay upfront. The lady was disrespectful and unprofessional. My son's therapist was here and she couldn't believe how the lady was talking to me. So, I was dreading the last time I had to call or put a claim in. I just let America's 1st Choice pick the person and I paid the $75 and it was fixed. I know not to find my own person because it's a whole bunch of mess.
You have the option to locate your own or use America’s First Choice’s contractors. But the lady said, because there was a heatwave going on, that I should just try to find my own person. So, I had to find my own company. When they sold it to me that way, to be able to have your own selection, it was sold to me from the person in the instance such that it will be faster if I use my own relationships. In that instance, I used the company that my old landlord used. Anytime, when I rented and the heat would go out, he always came. So, we had a cool relationship.
America's 1st Choice said that I would have to pay it in full and I would have to wait for them to reimburse me. But I said that I would just pay the deductible and they can pay. So last time, they found it for me. The tech was cool. There was an issue in my bathroom. For some reason, the tub wasn't draining. Then it turned out something tiny got stuck under there. But after a time, they said it must have built up. So, it ended up clogging deep down. The guy literally fixed it within a half an hour and all I had to pay was the co-pay thing and it was done. I didn't need to wait for a refund like I did the first time.
The experience got better after the first time. As long as you don't mind waiting for America's 1st Choice to find the technician, which may take a day or two, I highly recommend them. But if you want to use your own people, just be prepared to pay in full and wait for reimbursement. There should be a disclaimer because everybody can't afford it. If it would have been $1,000 that day, I wouldn't have been able to cover that. That day when I filed the claim, the lady made it sound like I would pay the company the $75 and they will cover the rest. But you pay upfront and then you get reimbursed. Whoever that lady was, she should learn how to communicate with people or get a different kind of job. Talking to people are just not for everybody.

Our microwave went out the Sunday before Christmas, and then I put in the claim, and AFC found someone to come by. Then they called me Monday, and then the contractor came out Wednesday. They told us what the issue was, and it was cheaper to get it replaced than to fix it. We bought the new one ourselves and they came back Friday to install the new one. So now, AFC is going to send me some money for the replacement. The contractor was very friendly, and on time. They responded really quick because we had to call them back to schedule the install for the new one and all of that went well. AFC is very good about following up and their response times when you put in a claim. Also, I really like that they remind me to renew every year.

The representative I spoke to at AFC brought a lot of confidence and expectations. AFC was more expensive than some of the other ones but I liked the value represented in the conversations with the initial sales rep that I had. The contractors show up quickly, but the follow-up seemed to be lacking a lot. I had a contractor whom I had asked for follow up on one quote for air conditioning work, but they never got back to me. There was a plumbing company that I put in a request for, but they never got to it. I had ended up getting my own contractor, but I was still out of pocket that $75 for their initial visit.
They kept getting ahold of me saying they needed extra information. But every time I called back, it was a different rep who would say, "We don't know what exactly that rep wanted to do." I missed their phone call a couple of times. I finally got ahold of someone and they said, "We're just trying to get ahold of you to let you know that we declined the claim." They even encouraged me to bump up the coverage to the next level saying, "It'll be covered in that next level," so I did. But when I went to claim again, they said, "Because you had the claim before this next level kicked in, we already have record of it." They called it pre-existing.
The last rep I spoke to sent me a PDF of all the specific guidelines. If I had seen that small print at the very beginning, I don't think I would have signed up with any home warranty. The coverage was sold to me with value based expectations. But when I got my claims denied and the reasons my claims were denied, I found that there was a lot of nuance into what AFC was willing to call claimable. That leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth.

There was an issue with getting a contractor out here where I escalated the claim, and AFC got somebody out here immediately. The contractor was okay but before they came out, I switched the circuit off and turn it back on, and it worked. But the guy was already on route.

Having a home warranty is necessary. I have AFC and submitting a claim to them was easy. Their reps were good and they addressed my concerns for the most part. The tech was great too and he told me how to prevent the issue in the future.

America's 1st Choice was helpful when I had to repair and replace some items. The claim submission process was very easy. They don’t do a one-for-one replacement on items that are old, but I can't really expect that and they helped take some of the pain out of replacing some older items.

I've only had one service call in two years and all I had to do was pay the deductible. I called AFC's number and told them what my problem was, and they had a company reach out and set up an appointment. Then the tech came out and replaced everything. He was very knowledgeable. He figured the problem out immediately, and got the parts and fixed it right away. It was very simple and easy. AFC is well worth the money because you never know what's gonna go wrong.

We have an older AC unit and we did the maintenance on it. I felt like we should get the warranty. We ended with America's 1st Choice Home Club. They told me they covered the AC but they didn't. They zeroed it out to nothing then offered me $200 for $16,000 worth of AC. They cited a whole bunch of fine print. I'm not a fan at all about that.
I submitted other claims for little things and they were fine. But on the whole, America's 1st Choice gaslit and quoted company policy. This was 104 degrees Texas heat in the middle of summer. This company had me go through jumping over hoops to find out what the serial number was because the sun had baked it off when they knew full well they weren't going to cover anything. America's 1st Choice is worthless. They wouldn’t honor anything. They didn't even honor their word to give me the $200 even though I finally said, “Okay, let's just give me that.”

We were told that the coverage that we had with AFC Home Club didn't cover what we were needing assistance with. But once we submitted the receipt from the electrician, they reimbursed the charges easily and it didn't take long for the check to be received. Aside from that, the contractors have been very pleasant to work with and easy to get in touch with. Even after, they'll give a commentary of, “If there's a problem, you can call us back.” And unlike some companies, when they say that, they actually will come back out and take care of whatever wasn't fixed or whatever went wrong. I would tell friends to try out AFC Home Club because they've been nothing but good to me.

If I have a local guy that knows my house and that I trust personally to be in my house and to fix things right, I like the fact that AFC covers that contractor under the warranty, and they don't just send their own fly-by-night people out here to try to put a Band-Aid on a bullet wound. When I signed up with AFC, the experience seemed good right away. I had a phone call and an email from my personal client service rep, which was good. I did try calling him a few weeks ago and didn't get a response back. But it wasn't that big of a deal.

I had my refrigerator claim with AFC. They told me I could choose my own repairman or they would provide one. I called my own but he said, "I can't come till Tuesday." So, I called AFC and they gave me the name of someone. I called him and he said, "I can't get there till Wednesday." I said, "That's not going to help me 'cause my refrigerator's not working." I called my own person.
When I went to settle the claim, they told me that I had to send the report to them from the repairman because they needed his license number and his insurance. I said, "No, I don't have that. I can't send that to you." We went round and round. When I finally said, "I want to speak to a manager," they said, "You won't be able to speak to them right away." I said, "I don't care. I'll stay on hold, but I just need to speak to somebody to get this resolved. I don't have the information to send to you." They came back and said, "It's okay. Everything's fine." They said, "If it's approved, you'll get your check in about four to six weeks." But it came in a week's time. Everything went fine after getting through with those young people on the line that didn't seem to know what they were talking about.

We've had various problems and America's 1st Choice has helped us out. We've been with them for about three years and the experience has been good. Submitting a claim goes pretty quickly. When we call in, it's within the same day that we find out who the person is going to be to fix us or to come and see what the problem is. I'd tell others to go for America's 1st Choice.

When I found AFC, I talked to a representative on the phone for a while and he said that I can always use my own outside technician. I wouldn't need to have it pre-approved. When one of our main line plumbing lines was clogged and I couldn't get something pre-approved, I had to call a plumber right away. So I called the plumber, and I had them come in the middle of the night to do work. The next day, I submitted my claim and AFC took care of it in less than a day.

I had an electrical issue. After the phone call, within a couple of days, America’s 1st Choice Home Club had scheduled me for an appointment. They picked an electrician. They sent somebody out. He thought he resolved the problem but he didn't. So, I called back and America’s 1st Choice Home Club sent the same company, just a different electrician out. And he resolved the issue.

I have America's 1st Choice Home Club for both of my houses. It's my first time using a home warranty, but I've got two older houses, so it is giving me a level of security. What appealed to me was the fact that I could use my own service technician and I could be reimbursed later. And that was a feature that a lot of other places did not have. It was important to me because I already have established relationships with providers or repair people, and those guys don't want to deal with the claims.
I had one claim that paid out for my refrigerator. It was efficient. Because I already had my provider, which is why I went with America's 1st Choice. He came over. He fixed it. While he was in my kitchen, I just went on the portal and I filled out the form. There were one or two questions I didn't know the answer to, so I just asked him and I submitted the form. It was reviewed quickly. And I got a decision very quickly. The processor asked for the repair person's information. They may have called him. But part of the reason I went with this policy is so that the repair person can focus on doing the repair person's job and I worry about the claim.
I like the access on the internet. I've uploaded documents on the portal. There were several claims that didn't pay out, because I was trying to learn my way around it. A couple of times, I submitted a claim and they were, “No, that doesn't qualify.” But the explanation made sense and it was consistent with the letter of the policy. So, I'm planning to continue. And based on my experience with this house, I bought one for my other house. I'm happy with it.

We liked America's 1st Choice's pricing model and what they covered and talking to them on the phone, we also liked the customer service. It was a gut feeling. We felt like they were a good fit for us. The price wasn't so high that we felt like it wasn't a huge risk either. It really came down to, "Hey, we can sign up for this for three years. If we use it, great. If we don't, no harm, no foul. Lesson learned."
We've submitted two claims so far. Unfortunately, both claims happened in emergency situations. One was on a holiday for an oven. It went out the day before Thanksgiving and we ended up purchasing a new oven and working with them on the back end to get it reimbursed. Now, it didn't cover the whole thing. It was an older range unit and we didn't have any repair tech come out. So, it was a unique opportunity, but it did help offset the cost there.
The second claim was for a heating and cooling issue. We came home one Sunday afternoon, it was about 100 degrees and it was noticeable that the air conditioning wasn't working. The company that does our annual maintenance on it has 24-hour service. They came out and fixed it. We submitted the claim the next day with the Home Club, and they worked out with the heating and cooling company and got us reimbursed for a control board that needed to be replaced. So, it's been an overall very efficient and successful relationship so far. I feel like we're getting exactly what we paid for. We're getting exactly what we are hoping, too.

When we call America's 1st Choice or send an email, they were pretty quick but the problem is they've put it into an email-type thing and I'm not exactly sure how to get it from them. It supposedly is very easy to get to it. Other than that, the technicians haven't been a problem at all. They're very good.

When we submit a claim to America's 1st Choice, they usually call in about a day to follow up. We've had three claims at this point, and each time, they kind of follow up throughout the process. Usually a couple of days before this is supposed to happen, and then they also follow up after the technician’s been to the house to make sure that we're happy with the service. We've been really happy with those that we've had thus far. We've gone with whichever ones they've recommended, and we've had no complaints.

We went online and looked at the most favorable to look at, saw what we needed, and that's why we turned to America’s 1st Choice. I called and asked the questions. So far, we had a situation where we wanted to have our own contractor. We have a bit of a miscommunication, but we talked it out. We were allowed to retain it, and we had great service. We're pleased because we have people we can talk to. And if we needed to talk to somebody or get resolution, so far, it’s currently with the air conditioner, we've been able to get issues resolved. People were very professional. They listened. They went back to get help because they couldn't answer. And in the end, there was a resolution. Fortunately for us, it was a resolution in our favor to keep our contractor that had been doing the work.

Every time we submitted a claim, it was like pulling teeth to try and get the money. We tried it a few different ways. We have the option to choose our own service provider or go with someone that America's 1st Choice recommend. Whenever we chose someone that we wanted to go with, it was difficult because the people would not always want to have a full conversation with America's 1st Choice people. So, thought we’d try the other way. But the people that got sent out didn't feel like they were of the highest quality. So, that was why we decided to just stop and deal with it on our own.
Also, the contractors weren't that interested in being helpful. It was obvious that they probably weren't getting a lot of money on these service calls. So, they'd do anything to get out of it or say it wasn't covered or it was someone else's problem. We've had a few different home warranties. And that seems to be the case across the board. Nobody wants to do anything. And it just seems like they're getting such little money on the call-outs that they're not incentivized to do anything. Save your money and just put some money every month in a little fund yourself. And if something goes wrong, call your own personnel.

I'm not always pleased with the process of submitting a claim, but it works. This last time did not go so smoothly. But I submit a claim and I can do it online or by telephone. Sometimes the representative is helpful, and sometimes they're cumbersome. I had an issue with my HVAC system. And they wanted me to go outside and find the serial number of the unit before they would take care of the claim. That's crazy. I am not going to do that. The repair person who came out eventually provided that for me. It was annoying that they held up the claim until I had to argue with them about that.
It's worth having a home warranty service. And America's 1st Choice Home Club is a good company to use. Not every company is going to give you exactly what you want all the time. But this one has taken care of the problems that I've had thus far except for one, which they should not have done. I read the details in the contract, tried to discuss it with the representative, but got nowhere.

This company is fraudulent. I just reported them to the Department of Insurance out of the state that I live in. I have had many invoice sent to them and they cover very little. I was signed up for the platinum service which I think means they do nothing. Well if you have issues with AFC Home Club you should log a complaint with your state Department of Insurance. If you are thinking about doing business with this company. Just to let you know they do business through calls only for no communicating paper-trail.
They have hidden terms and conditions that are not found anywhere on their website and you do not get a copy of those hidden term. They are not found on your contract. They are quoted to you on a call and not in writing. I tried to cancel this service and get reimbursed after my first call. After my second and their was also not handled as outlined in my contract I decide to take this up with the state to see if they can help me. All this company need to do is honor their contract of just reimburse me what was paid for the service. My first call was in Feb and it still has not been resulted to my satisfaction.

I like the flexibility of being able to choose my own contractor with AFC. This other company sends out who they want and a lot of times, those guys don't care. I had a good experience with America's 1st Choice. I had a claim regarding the AC unit and I had a bit of trouble in the beginning because they said they didn't have any available technicians and my initial claim didn't go through. So I had to call back again. But that was the only issue that I had. After that, getting the claim paid out and resolved was fine. They said I could find a technician on my own and then I can work with them to get reimbursement. When the technician was here, I was asked to call them to relay the diagnosis. That went smoothly. America's 1st was easy to work with and they were responsive.

I am so sorry that I entered into a three-year agreement. America's 1st Choice Home Club is horrible. They nickel-and-dime the customer. When I filed a claim for a repair, a man showed up to do the repair and told me I had to pay him. He was working on an HVAC. He had to call in and the home warranty gave him permission. He did the repairs and told them the unit needed refrigerant. He charged $100 per pound. He then had to call them back and ask if they would cover the refrigerant. They cover the refrigerant at $25. I had to pay an additional $75. They’ve already gotten $1,300 from me because I pay $100 a month for this alleged Platinum plan. That was my first experience contacting them.
The second experience was a plumbing issue. There was a leak. The guy came out and he repaired it. Then my dryer died. It was 15 years old. A technician came out and assessed the issue. He said the motherboard was totally inoperable. They told me they were only going to give me $400 on a new dryer. The dryer I had cost $1,200 and it lasted 15 years. I'm gonna at least get a $1,200 dryer that I know can last 15 years. When this is over, I will never use this company again. It's a rip-off. They won't replace anything.

Each time I’ve called AFC, they’ve been extremely helpful. They weeded through the bad apples and shed them. Kayla and Karen followed through and got everything fixed. Don’s Appliance was scheduled. They came out with the right part, weren’t here 30 minutes, and were done. AFC has been reasonable. There are times when the vendor that they want to use refuses to show up because we live out in a rural area. AFC would tell me to do it myself if I could. An example is the water heater. AFC told me to send them the receipt. They cut me a check and had it in the mail. But I wish they would work more with the local businesses. Brenham, Texas is a small town. I wish AFC wasn't so heavily dependent on Houston people and spread the money around to the more rural areas.

I was hoping for a different type of warranty company after 35 years of dealing with various ones. Nope, this isn't it. Salesman said all kinds of wonderful, unique things. Here are 2 examples: you could call your own contractor and then submit the bill to be paid and if they needed to get into a wall they would refinish it to a rough finish so all you needed to do was paint. There were many more things said like this. When the actual contract comes, NOPE, nothing like that in the contract. Furthermore there are just weird things like coverage for days 31-60 are only covered for $150. What? Never seen anything like that. Salesman also said there was no limit on AC repairs/replacement like other companies. So contract says they will prorate the life of your unit. Read Consumer Affairs reviews.... Some people only got paid $200 or were told they did not maintain their unit, etc et. This is just another scam and I am really pissed that I even wasted my time.

I called America's 1st Choice up and talked to someone. They were honest and fair with me. I had the package for a rental property that I have in Hammond, Louisiana, and then I got a package for my home here in Texas. I think they kind of got it crossed up a little bit. They've since settled that. As far as having to submit a claim, they ask you, "Was it properly maintained? How old is it? And what's the name of the product?" I'm used to those questions. If it's a real emergency and they can't get somebody out soon enough, I have the option to find someone myself and they'll reimburse me. All that works out pretty good.

When I used their customer service, like planning and getting my warranty, the team of America's 1st Choice was very helpful. They explained everything to me and were just personable. I had almost everything covered in my home for half the price that I was paying before. I had American Home Shield. Mine was 1,200 and something, and hers was 1,200 and something. When I transferred over to this one, I was able to get both of them for less than $1,000 for two.

My dryer was having issues. It turned out that the outlet failed and burned the plug on the dryer. So they replaced the dryer cord. The tech was very good. He didn't have a cord with him so he had to get it. That was understandable. He did that and put it on. It was good. I just had to call someone else to replace that plug. That was separate and that was claimable. I'm getting reimbursed for that. It's been a good experience with America's 1st Choice, so far. Worthy of re-upping.

I had a good experience recently when I had a leak. They also sent me the contract when I had our leak. I read through everything that it covered. I said, “I replaced my air conditioner and my heating last year. Can I get any type of reimbursement for that?” They said no because a year’s been gone by already. I replaced my hot water heater also in November and they said, “No, too much time has gone by. We can't give you anything.” I was disappointed. I know that I should have called them, but I didn't realize since I was a new customer and read the contract. I would have appreciated their manager contacting me and trying to work something out with me. But everything was fine with their submission process and overall customer service support.

Took out the 3 year platinum membership, which I didn't use until about 2 years in. My central air conditioner quit, of course in the heat of the summer (I live in Arizona) and I called them about a repair. They claimed they couldn't find an account for me, even though I gave them about 4 different options to check. I hung up and called the refrigeration company I use to come and check it out. I decided to call AFC back, and this time they COULD find all my info(?). I explained I made an appointment for the following day, and she told me that was okay.
The unit was fixed, to the tune of $726. Submitted the bill and they told me I had to show proof that I kept up maintenance on the unit; so I sent them the invoice for that also. It turns out they were only willing to pay a couple of hundred dollars for the repair, because the unit was about 20 years old. I hit the ceiling, and she finally offered me half the cost of the repair, which I accepted (not happily). So obviously if your appliance is old, be prepared to get less than the repair amount.
I cancelled the balance of my contract. And by the way, they deduct the amount they sent me for the repair, so they told me I was entitled to $46 and change refund. And no, they couldn't send me a check, but had to put the amount back on my credit card (which I don't have anymore because a new bank took it over). So it's been weeks and I'm still waiting for the refund. Who knows?

In general, it took too long to get a service provider to come to repair. From submitting a service request to completion, it took 1 week or more. In the future, I may get a local vendor and then get reimbursed… The overall service is acceptable.

My dishwasher was leaking. America's 1st Choice Home Club sent the tech out here. He determined it was one thing when it was not. But I just found out yesterday that it wasn't what he said. So, he came out here, diagnosed it, wrote up a work order, but never came back. Never contacted me. Just ghosted us. My dishwasher was repaired based off of what he said. I ended up having to get somebody else. AFC reimbursed me. But I don't even know that that person that came and fixed it looked at it. He just went based off of what I said somebody else said. And the people that came yesterday, it was something different. So whatever was replaced never needed to be replaced.
I don't know who AFC hired that they need to double check. Because I called this dude three times, messaged him, he never responded to me. They said that they were able to get ahold of him. But I said, “But I'm the customer. Why did he not call me back? Why did he not respond to my messages?” And they said, “He's gonna get back to you today.” But he never did. But for some reason, they were able to contact him, but I was not. I just said, “Forget it. I'm done. My dishwasher’s leaking. I need to get this fixed. So let me find somebody myself." Even that was a hassle. Because they issued me a check instead of having it directly deposited into my account. Because they charge you a fee. But AFC has been good in the past for other stuff.

I've been an America's 1st Choice Home Club member for more than two years. And luckily, it's a warranty company so I did not need to call for any claims except once. That happened three months ago. But from day one since I started, and even when I needed the claim to happen and I made the call, everything was great. The service was good. Everyone was very responsive. My overall experience is great. The last person I spoke to, Rachel, is my account manager now and she's very good and responsive. And I renewed my service for another year.
When I had the service, the representative from AFC had to speak to the contractor that would do the job. He inspected the problem and said, “Okay. We figured out what is the problem," that they will bill me for roughly that much amount. So, she did that. And we're talking about 200 something. A month and a half after they did the job, they knew exactly how much time they spent and how much was the part they brought in. The actual bill was 270 something. Instead of 220, it became 270 something. So, I sent the bill and told them, “Here's the amount that the contractor billed me. And I know that they have a $75 service call. I'm gonna pay that. Can you please reimburse me with the remaining part?” So the representative that was handling the case told me, “No. They told us to 218 or 220. That is the amount. The difference is the amount we’re gonna pay.”
I told her, “I understand, but the amount that he provided you on the spot on the same day before he did the work, that was the estimated amount. But the amount I'm sharing with you now, this is a final amount on the bill. So you should be going with the bill, not with the estimated amount coming from the mouth of the contractor.” And she refused to help me with that. I said, "It's okay. I don't care about $50, I'll pay that.” I paid it and I wasn't paying attention, or maybe I wasn't trying to make a big deal out of it.
When I spoke to Rachel to renew my policy, I told her about this incident. And she said she should have adjusted that to the new amount on the bill and reimburse me with the $50 or $60. She sent me a check and took care of that. But that was the only thing that I didn't like in my whole experience. Other than that, everything else was great. When I called and I needed the help that day when part of the furnace stopped, they were supportive since day one. They were so good and willing to help either by bringing a contractor to me or me finding a contractor that is licensed, and whoever will come first will do the job. And they were very flexible with that. I recommended AFC to two of my friends.

AFC settled my request quickly. However I’m not sure how the company defines replacement. The amount determined to replace a microwave did compare to the actual amount it costs to replace. I think I would do better saving the $50 monthly payment and use my savings for household repairs. Thank you.

My refrigerator went out and the claim was processed as I called in. Then I received a callback and I got a date for the service guy to come out. Then he came out, and it was good. He diagnosed the problem, called AFC and told them what the problem was. He got approved to do the job. So it was done in a timely manner. But after it was fixed, I saw a little water on the floor when I got home. So the tech returned back within a hour and fixed that problem as well. I was really pleased with him.

When I signed up with AFC, the rep was very helpful with me and really nice. I felt very confident with him and I could talk to him. Also, when I call them, I'm talking to somebody that is in the United States, not in another country. I had a problem with my cooling system. The serial number and the model number didn't show through. I sent a letter out and signified that I was very concerned about that because if anything ever happened to it, we'd have a record of that. But we got it taken care of and the repair was only $150. I got a $75 refund on it. I was really pleased with the way it worked out, that I know that I have the protection on it.

I normally call in when I submit a claim and it's been easy and satisfactory. However, they don't want to fix things like leaky faucets. But they say, "If you contract with your own contractor, we'll reimburse you whatever it cost. Just send us the invoice." But that's one more phone call, one more invoice, one more process which I'd rather not have.

We understand that can add one more thing to your plate, next time let us refer you to some people or handymen. Usually, handymen are less than a service fee to replace faucets. Also many times you will want to call and see if the faucet has a lifetime warranty as Moen does and with this, you can take the amount offered for the faucet itself and put it towards the service fee!

We were well-taken care of, getting the problem understood and getting a technician assigned and out to fix it. On the initial phone call, we were misled slightly, being told we could get a secondary issue looked it and repaired when -- I was told later -- we weren't covered for the problem. The main issue was resolved to our satisfaction, however.

We had a leak on the first floor, in the ceiling, coming from a bathroom above. I called the insurance, asked them what to do about it and they told me that I could call whoever I preferred instead of them sending somebody. The techs called them back to confirm what was and was not going to be covered. They told me that detecting where the leak was coming from was not covered. Some plumbers offer theirs free, while some charge. The ones I engaged with charged for everything, even that first detection. They found that one valve was bad and replaced one faucet as well in the shower above the leak.
One of the reasons why I picked America's 1st Choice's insurance was the low deductible. It was $60 only, but then they have their own maximum cost that they cover. That means whatever the charge is, they pay me according to their list, meaning it's much less than the actual bill. That then applied to the water heater that was also leaking. I didn't even notice that, but the plumber showed me it was cracked and rusted. That was dangerous because it could completely burst. I called AFC and they allowed the replacement of the water heater as well, but then the bill was 2,000. They paid only 600 and said, "This is the maximum.” The difference between that and what I ended up paying out of pocket was significant on my part.
In some way, AFC covered everything and they were not that difficult to work with. The only thing is I was surprised or maybe I didn't read or understand correctly, I didn't investigate enough or everybody else does the same way. I ended up paying more than 1,500 altogether myself because it exceeded their maximum, and I didn't like that.

The plumbers who came recently were good. We chose them ourselves. We used them in the past and they did a good job. That’s what I like about AFC, because they don’t make you wait around for them to find somebody. You have the option of doing that or you can just find someone on your own. AFC just has to get all the documentation and the repair people have to be certified.
It’s easy to submit claims, and the benefit to having a home warranty is in case it's something big, they would have to replace it. However, the experience was annoying with our garage door, trying to figure out what's covered and what’s considered maintenance or wear and tear. They did not cover wear and tear, and it hadn’t been that way with other warranty companies we’ve had.

The wait time for an operator is too long. Also, when I put in my request for someone to do something to my apartment, I need a response as to what's going to happen and I don't have to be calling to find out why something is not fixed. It took me almost four weeks before I could get somebody to come and fix my dishwasher. Another problem I'm having is I have to keep calling people. My microwave was not fixed, and I was told I could order the microwave and America's 1st Choice will pay the value of it. They said that they're gonna send me a link to upload my receipts so I’ll get back my payment, but how do I get to where they said they sent me the information where I could upload? Nobody called and told me, “Okay, the link is there. You can do whatever you want to."

I've used AFC twice and everything went smoothly. I've submitted a claim where I called who I wanted to do the repairs, and I submitted the receipt then they gladly reimbursed me. I've also called them directly to start a claim, which they followed the whole claim through from beginning to end. The people I contacted from the organization were very helpful to me. I have two homes covered by AFC and I would tell people to go for it. No hesitation.

My biggest complaint about America's 1st Choice is the fact that the people that they recommend would no longer work with them. In the future, when I have a malfunction of one of my covered appliances, I will let them identify and contact the person. I went through three or four different people before I found one that would accept them. Matter of fact, this guy wouldn't accept America's 1st Choice, but they reimbursed me and got me okay. It took me a little longer than usual, but it worked out.
America's 1st Choice has a three-year program where you pay for two years and the third year is free. I didn't realize that I would be selling that property before my third year. I was looking through the contract and they allow a transfer, but the owner chose not to take the warranty. But I understand I can transfer the policy over to a new property. However, I would suggest the time between the malfunction of a unit to the response be a little bit quicker. When you have your food spoiling and you got a couple $100 worth of food in your refrigerator, it needs to be done as quickly as possible.

My service was a sink replacement. Although AFC says they don't warranty sink basins, you did agree to pay. Perhaps because it had overflow channel underneath that was cracked. Anyway, I appreciate it being covered. What I think would improve service would be to have way to login and see status of requests. Currently communication is done over phone. I get text saying something is resolved. I then have to call, verify all this info, and then have someone read off the resolution. That message could be easily be left for the customer to read when they login.
Also after I tell your representative I want an echeck, I then have to keep checking my email to see when it will arrive. The time before this I never received the check and when I follow up 4 weeks later the representative said they were waiting for another receipt. I did send it but I was not told previously that the check was on hold. Bottom line is verbal communication can lead to misunderstandings. Written info that customer can see would eliminate doubt.

We did the questionnaire online and America's 1st Choice called us back. The rep went over the different packages they had. I answered some of their questions and he did the application over the phone. Then, they emailed documents to sign electronically. I’m very satisfied with the plan that I got. We were looking for the same package we had at the other company so it covers everything. This one is 1,000 times better.
We've had to file two claims already and it was smooth. We did the claim online at night. On both times, the reps called us back the very next day. The first one was for our microwave and it was super quick. They paid for the max coverage on that one. They said it would be easier and more cost-effective to just pay for a new one. So, they did that for us and sent a check. Then, we had to send them the receipt of the purchase. The second claim was the same way. They sent someone out to see what the issue was on our refrigerator. It was a Freon issue, which unfortunately, was not covered under the plan. But we were able to get it fixed right away. Whereas the last company with our fridge took us six months to get it corrected because they were taking so long to get someone out. America's 1st Choice had someone out the next day for us.

AFC Home Club lets us use our own provider but their process with reimbursement can be a little cumbersome for people who are not computer savvy. I think that there are a lot of elderly people that would not be able to upload an invoice and then go back to the computer and get the check. But other than that, they seem to be very quick to accept the service request. It's an easy process. I had an electrical issue and they got it corrected. They were very supportive of it.

I put request in and got no response from AFC for 4 days and ended up having to call. By the time the repairman came it was way over 48 hrs. The repairman seemed to be having trouble diagnosing the problem looking at his phone instead of machine. I had told him what I thought it was and that's what he ended up ordering.

Our dryer went out and it needed a new motor or some very expensive part. AFC decided that they weren't going to fix it because it would be too much to fix. They would just give me a rebate on what they thought the dryer was worth, which was only a couple of $100. We paid over $1,500 for that dryer. When they call you to sign up for the service, they make it sound like, “No worries. If we can’t fix it, we'll replace it.” But they don't tell you about the small print stuff because they want you to sign up for their service. That part was deceiving and I'm not too happy about it.
AFC should be more clear upfront of what the expectations are, so people aren't signing up thinking it's one thing and it really isn’t. They never mentioned that it would be the value of what they think the value of the dryer would be. A couple of $100 for that dryer is pretty low. Other than that, AFC has been responsive for the most part. We had the fridge repaired once as well as the microwave.

I call for service, technicians come out here. And they have to diagnose it. They got to get on the phone with somebody there, and that takes time for the technician. And the person finally gets on the phone to pass over that information. If it's not accurate, then the service may not get approved. That's a situation I've had a couple of times. That whole process of being able to get the technician to start the work and get it approved is a cumbersome process.
I had a clogged toilet pipeline. They put a snake down the cleanout and it cleans the pipe out. And you can start using it again. I called so many times. It's very simple to do. I called a technician to come out here to do it. They got on the phone with the person at America's First Choice Home Club, and the individual said they got to put a snake down here to clean it out. And the snake would go to the septic tank. And I have a septic tank at the house. But I don't have any issues with the septic tank. Because the technicians said septic tank, the person and AFC said, “Oh, you don't have septic tank warranty. We can't approve this. It's not going to be done.” Had nothing to do with the septic tank. So I had clogged toilets and all this situation, and didn't get approved. And I ended up having just to pay the guy to do it myself. And that same job, AFC has done it eight times over the past three years. So it was very frustrating. That whole process is just God awful.

I had a problem with the gas valves on my cooktop stove. They were jammed. I called AFC and they sent someone to repair it right away. I needed two new gas valves, they immediately approved the payment to repair both valves. I recommend AFC to anyone.

Home warranties aren't very popular with third party vendors. So, with the last couple of issues, it's been hard to get somebody to repair. I ended up buying the part and the techs came and just dragged out. I finally got ahold of someone and they seem to be okay. But AFC seems to want to pass the buck. They don't want to find a contractor for me, follow up and have them call me. They want me to do all the legwork. I'd be a lot happier if it was easier. When I had another home warranty company, I just made a phone call and they did all the legwork.

The application process was very easy. Kevin was the first person I spoke to and he pretty much set up everything for me. Also, he was very knowledgeable about the services that AFC offers. My experience with them has been pretty good. I always keep a plumber or electrician under my belt in case I can't find anybody and they are licensed. With AFC, we are able to use them. I've had a couple of hiccups but I spoke to one of the supervisors and he straightened everything out for me.

My refrigerator broke and I was under the impression that it would be fixed so I paid them $250 up in advance. Then I paid them the 50 something dollars a month. The contractor came in and assessed the refrigerator and I had to pay another 100 and something dollars on top of all that plus the $75 for them to come out. I might as well have gone ahead and paid for the refrigerator myself. Also, they fixed it but they only will fix one part of it. I had to pay for the refrigerator to be defrosted when in reality, they didn't pay for the part right away so the refrigerator defrosted on its own by the time that they decided to pay. And I still got charged. That was ridiculous. I put out too much money and got nothing back but a bill. I didn't like how it was handled, so I closed the account.

A specialist came out for my heating unit and diagnosed whatever the situation was and he was the worst. He was supposed to be at my house on more than one occasion and never made it. The last time, he said he couldn't make it, he kept calling he was stuck in traffic. In the last text, he sent he couldn't make it. I called AFC immediately to get someone else to come out and their representative told me I need to look for a technician myself. That was another two weeks that the heater wasn't working and that was after paying my deductible and everything.
Also, I pay AFC a premium and I pay my deductible but every time they come out, I got to pay out of my pocket. Things aren't covered and there are jobs that the contractors don't do. My previous home warranty never disappointed me. They came out, fixed the problems, and replaced appliances with no question. But America's 1st Choice, not so much. I've been meaning to discontinue the contract.

We used AFC for our dishwasher repair and it went quite well. A tech from Fast Appliance Repair, Eric, came out. He gave me a call and gave us a heads up he was coming over. I have a lot of mixed feelings about America's 1st Choice. The coverage that I have covers all my appliances such as my washers, dryers, exhaust fans in the bathroom, and anything that has a motor in it. The questions they ask are, “Well, when did you purchase this? Where's the receipt? When was the last time it was serviced? Who serviced it? Do you have a receipt for it?” I have to go through a series of 100 questions. “What's the serial number? What's the model number? Where did you buy it from? What was your form of payment?” "I don't know. All that I know is that I have an appliance and it's not working. And I have a service contract with you guys so I need you to send someone out." It's a daunting task. I just called them on Saturday and told them to cancel it. It doesn't make sense.
I have three contracts with them. One is at my primary residence, and the rest of the contracts are like investment properties so they're rented out. So if a tenant calls me, I just take that information and play it forward, hoping that they would just give me a two or four-hour window a few days out. It's never that easy. They want screenshots. They want to know the model number. The property is 45 minutes away. I have to get in my car and drive there. Meanwhile, the unit is down.
One case in point was I had an issue with a dryer. They must have sent a tech out half a dozen times. I had to pay the deductible. They replaced many parts. The unit was never fixed. They then cut me a check of about 25% to replace the dryer. The dryer was down for more than a month. So, in addition to the fact that they're charging me 100 and something dollars a month, it was extremely inconvenient. I had downtime and they only sent me 200 and something and the dryer was like 700 something. So, if I take that $150 that I'm being charged every month and I tuck it away every month for a year, that's $1,800. So why don't I just do that and save myself the hassle and hedge my bets that way? It's just garbage.
I had an issue here at my primary residence with my dishwasher. AFC could not find a third-party vendor to come out to my place. Everyone refuses to work with AFC because they say that it's essentially the same thing. They say, “We come to your house. We fix the unit. And then when we bill them, it's just a series of questions that they keep asking, and payment is never made.” They'll ask five questions and then the tech will submit a response. And then they're like, “Okay. We have three more. Oh, no. We have two more.” This goes on and on indefinitely. I was in a position where techs refuse to come to take a look at the dishwasher. This went on for a few weeks. Then when I called them and I escalated, the alternative was, “All right, well, you call. You make the call. You have the tech come out. Do not disclose anything to them that this has anything to do with AFC. You make the payment. Submit the bill to us, and we'll pay you.”
I paid the deductible and I made about 40 phone calls, not to mention how many hours of my time I've wasted. Then I still ended up replacing the unit. So, it's all counterproductive. When I call in, the reps are extremely rude. They refuse to help. It's kind of like they just have a script that they're reading off of and they don't have the knowledge to deviate from that script. So, they have a series of questions. If you try to make the conversation personable, they're like, “No. You have to answer question 37. We're only on question 37. I have 50 questions to ask you before I can schedule a tech to come out.”

My house wasn't getting hot with the heater. So, America's 1st Choice Home Club sent some people out. It was simple. They said they changed the part out. But it still wasn't getting hot. It was getting warm after the contractor left. But a week or two later, it stopped getting warm. So, I just left it alone. I didn't bother to call them back. I just waited and called the real company and got it done. AFC did all right with the one thing they did.

I'm very happy with America's 1st Choice's service. I submit a claim online, and within five minutes, I get a response that the claim has been accepted and that they are looking for a technician. They instruct me on what's gonna happen as soon as the technician is selected, whether or not the technician will contact me or whether they do. Usually, they contact me and let me know the technician and they call and we set up an appointment. The contractors are very well-versed. The ones that I had experience with are very professional, very knowledgeable, and they come in and take care of what they got to do and they're in and out. It's a great situation.

I made two claims to America's 1st Choice before it expired. I put the claims through the web portal. The person who did the repairs was pretty good. I’ve since called him out to do work for me personally. He came out to do the fridge twice. While he was here, the first time, I think he kinked my copper waterline. It flooded through my basement wall, and so he came out the second time. I've called them up to do it under warranty, but I was told I had to go through the subcontractor directly so I went to the subcontractor directly.
I'm very dissatisfied with America's 1st Choice. They have a very narrow coverage for a lot of items. They couldn't get people to come out to do certain work that I wanted to get them to do, so I’d have to then chase up people myself. When I contacted them for a warranty item and items are broken, they just washed their hands clean of it and made me chase at the subcontractor directly. So, I decided it wasn't worth my while to renew.

I chose America’s First Choice Home Club based on their price. I called and talked to somebody. And he said that I could use my own contractors instead of having to wait for them to schedule somebody. I've only done twice so far. I did it online. And if I asked for AFC to find somebody, I would just check that. But when I did that, they said, "Just get your own person."
One thing was the garbage disposal. AFC didn't send anybody out for that. They just said, “We'll just reimburse you.” So, my husband fixed that himself. Or we could have hired somebody. But we just bought it, and he fixed it. They just reimbursed us for the amount of the actual garbage disposal itself. And the second one, we had a leak in the bathtub. So, I had requested for them to have somebody come and do it. Because I was a little worried. I know there are some plumbers who if you want to try and work with a home warranty, they won't do it. They won't come out to your house and do the job. Because they don't want to have to deal with home warranties. So, I asked if they would send somebody, but they didn't. But it stopped leaking, so I didn't need anybody after that.
If AFC has an option for me to request them to provide somebody, they shouldn't just send it back on me to be able to find somebody. It concerned me having to try and find somebody myself, and having to ask them, “Do you deal with home warranties?” If they don't, then I have to call around and find somebody. I don’t like that part of it. Other than that, it has been easy to put in service requests.

I've enjoyed AFC so far. They are definitely better than the other warranty company that we had before. I like the fact that if they can't come in a timely manner, I can get somebody, and then they will reimburse me. We've only had one issue and it was with an older guy who was short. He was fixing our ice maker on our refrigerator and he told me that the issue was a little knob and that something just needed to be switched. I said, "Why switch everything out if it was just a switch that needed to be switched?” He was charging me for parts and I said, “That's my right. You just told me that it was a little switch that needed to be switched.” Other than that, with AFC, if I have a clog in my pipes, they're here until the clog is gone. No matter where it's at in the house. Requesting service has also been easier with them. They respond quicker.

America's 1st Choice Home Club was the best value. Submitting a claim is easy, calling it in or ordering it online. But it's confusing around executing the claim, like the service fee and getting the support and payment afterwards. Some parts of the service contract should have clear ideas on the ranges or the maximum. That's not clear around how much people are paying for certain parts of whatever is broken. Read the contract, and get your own technician as opposed to AFC issuing one.

America's 1st Choice is efficient and they have a quick turnaround on certain things. When I'm able to call them to start the claim, they're very responsive to that. I had a couple of claims with my AC and hot water heater. I found someone that was able to come a little sooner to resolve the issue. I submitted the receipt, and America's 1st Choice reimbursed me for it once they reviewed everything and contacted the service guy to confirm.

I'm gonna cancel America's 1st Choice soon. The way their service providers are set up is that they have a list of what they believe that an item in your home is worth, and that's the max that they're paid for that item. So if your dishwasher breaks, and to repair it is $300, they say, "Your dishwasher is three years old and this is the brand of it. It's only worth $10. So regardless of all this money you paid us, we're only putting $10 for this repair." Also, we recently had a heater go out and it was a $1,600 repair. They only put $600 because they felt the AC wasn't worth any more than that. That's what I don't like. Instead of paying them $50 a month, I could have put that money somewhere else.
Do not get AFC. Paying someone for a warranty could be putting money into a savings account to take care of the item that you need to take care of. Research a company that would actually fund the entirety of the repair and not give you a percentage of what they feel the item is worth.

The previous home that I was renting and this home are older properties. So, I've leveraged my warranty package multiple times in the last year and a half. It's definitely been value add. The techs have been top-notch and fortunately, with the plan I have, I'm afforded the opportunity to select the technician if I don't want to just go with someone that they offer. Not that they are bad choices, but I like the flexibility to select my own technicians. But as long as they're licensed, then I can work with them.
I recommend that existing homeowners compare policies, identify what's covered and price compare based on what's included if they have to submit claims. So, a lot of times, if people aren't looking at the details, every plan that's not automatically included, sometimes you have to pay an additional fee to include those and some companies don't cover that at all, even if you're willing to pay an extra fee. For me, everything that I needed to be covered was covered.

Overall, my experience was not that pleasant. The techs didn't fix my problem. So instead, they gave me the budget, which is 80% and I have to buy the new thing. Then I have to wait for a couple weeks to get that installed. Because I'm working, I couldn't be home and I argued with the installation company for a while. Finally, they gave in and said they'll come on a Saturday to install. Also, I prefer if the customer doesn't have to go outside to buy a different thing if AFC can replace it with the same brand.

My washer stopped working. America's 1st Choice got back with us pretty quickly and sent somebody out. It was gonna cost $400 to fix it when it's only a $400 unit. So, they gave us 100 and something dollars. Things have been good with them so far. The one thing I like about them is the ability to choose our own repairman.

The control panel of the dishwasher wasn't working correctly. It might have been faster if I let AFC pick a dishwasher person versus trying to get my own. That was the only hold-up. It took longer than expected and I was a month without a dishwasher. But it was cheaper to replace the value of it. They gave me close to half the amount of a dishwasher.
If anything goes wrong, I'm gonna have to pay my deductible versus getting something replaced. But AFC wants to take a look at things and it takes more time to have somebody look at something to see if they can get it working or fixed versus just replacing, which I understand. Also they did whatever they thought the value of my dishwasher was versus just replacing it altogether.

America's 1st Choice responds pretty quickly. I usually have a direct contact when I have to file a claim. I just send an email. For the plumbing issue, they eventually fixed it, but there’s still a different issue.

We had three issues, and America's 1st Choice took care of them. I had to have a microwave repaired, but they replaced it. The dryer went out and they sent a technician out who fixed it. I had to have a water heater replaced. I had to pay for it. My house is an old house, and it was not up to code anymore since it was built in the 80s. So, they had to bring it up to code. They didn't pay for that portion of it.
With having the warranty, I didn't have to pay the full cost out of pocket. So, what I paid over the last three years to keep that warranty was satisfying to me. Also, I chose my own technicians, and they were awesome. I chose the people down the street, Extreme Heating. They came in. I had been waiting for a week for another guy, and I called them that day. They sent a technician out that day, and it took him less than an hour to take the old one out and put the new one in. So, I had a great experience with them. I sent my receipt over, and I get reimbursed within seven days.

They've been great to work with. We had a garage door motor that went bad. I was able to call them up and they paid to get it replaced and fixed. The nice thing about AFC is that I'm able to get my own contractor instead of having them assign somebody that I don't know, who could be the cheapest. I can have techs do the estimate, pay AFC 100 bucks but then they will pay my contractor directly for the work.

I ended up canceling America’s 1st Choice. I had a heating issue, and they said they would not fix something that my repair person told me was a very common problem. They said that because it had rust. I said, “There's no way it could have rust.” I have paid for it. It was $800 I had to pay for out of pocket. If rust is involved, they’re not going to cover anything. The person that fixed it said that that's just what happens. So, if they weren't gonna cover it, they shouldn't have said they were covering it.
I also had a refrigerator claim where they said, “Okay. Well, we're going to mark it down for this. And we're gonna mark it down for that. So we'll give you this much money.” That was only after I complained that they weren't going to give me money for something. It was a repeat claim for the refrigerator. They were saying they were taking out the amount of money that had to be paid to get somebody to come out that goes to repair tech, but the repair tech didn’t charge me another service fee because it was under warranty. It was an additional repair that they didn't get the first time. They did a minimum repair, but it had to have more of them. So, they came back and they didn't charge a service fee.
The contractors weren’t a problem. They were good. Even the person that fixed the refrigerator said they were going to try to do this and see if that worked. If it didn’t, then it would be a circuit board or different things. Then they also were saying that part of what they should have to be fixed was not covered. So, they wrote up $35 because they don't cover the panel.
I was not happy with having an argument about everything that happened. They said, “No, we're not going to pay because you didn't get pre-approved on it.” My refrigerator was broken and they called and the phone was not answered, so they could not get pre-approval. I sent an email, and it was about three days later that they replied to the email. In fact, the person who did the repair told me how upset their office staff was because of what the people with the claims did calling the office and being very demanding and rude to them about what they had put in for their claims. Even the communication between the repair person’s office and America’s 1st Choice's people was very negative. The lady I've talked to was a really sweet lady. The guy that heard her with the communication with America’s 1st Choice was really very shocked with the way they treated her and how upset they made her.

In regard to your heating service request, the technician found "The inducer draft motor wheel broke away from the shaft. Cause of Failure: age, the wheel had a bunch of rust on it oxidation loss of integrity." In an effort to show good faith, we still offered goodwill towards this repair which the homeowner declined.

How this company has 4 stars via Consumer Affairs is beyond me. I am starting to think we should contact the News Media Outlets. (KSAT12 Defenders in San Antonio TX) just ran a story about these EXACT same issues with another Home Warranty Company…what a sham, you all ought to be ashamed. Update…as of today (3/1/2022) the repairs are still incomplete (we began this process 1/19/2022). The contractors sent out by AFC are terrible…not communicating, constant issues with their truck (broken down, flat tires, unresponsive) - is this a matter of choosing the lowest bidder to fulfill your contract requirements? I’m floored at this entire process…what a waste of time, money, and effort. It’s ironic that I received a question asking “What services did they perform?”… That’s the issue, they don’t want to perform the services we pay them for!!!
AFC is showing itself to be worse than AHS… These companies are consistent at nothing other than finding a loophole to not cover the items we faithfully pay them for each month. These “warranties” are ridiculous and need some type of federal regulations…(and yes, I read the fine print). People would do better to simply put the money that they/we pay to this company every month into an interest-bearing account and take care of their own repairs. I’ve come to realize - As a single mother who thought this would be an excellent tool to assist with repairs, that this is nothing more than an elaborate way to scam people out of their hard earned dollars… I could YouTube how to fix things faster…shame on you all!!
