The most unprofessional and trust warranty company. I get this home warranty for 4 of my investment property including my home. I purchase the most expensive coverage plus extra coverage for ice maker and plumbing. Up to three years contract. For every single repair they bring an excuse to not pay or repair. Even due after few mounts getting contract I sold one of the property still they never paid me back the rest of 2.5 years left contract. All they said was lie and reject. Never recommended to anyone.

When my home warranty was up I looked on the internet and found different companies. I talked to a couple and with the three-year-plan, America’s First Choice Home Club's was the best economically. AFC first gave me a company that was way up in Marietta. I called him and there was just no way with my work schedule and he didn't wanna be down here in Stone Mountain. I called the company again and said, "Look, this guy, we can't find the time because he's so far away." And then, they gave me this other company and it worked out really well, and they got them here quickly. But that was kinda weird. And even he said, "I don't know why they gave me your case because I'm really far away." It was fixed pretty easily after I called and said I needed another company and they sent me another number.

However, he wouldn't tell me what was wrong with my furnace, and that irritated me to no end. I was like, "Well, that's my furnace. Tell me what you fixed." And he goes, "Oh, I can't discuss that." That was very irritating. So I waited until the next day because it was late by that day, and I called the company and told them, "He didn't tell me what was wrong. I would like to know what was wrong with my furnace." And she told me it was some gauge or something. That was weird that he couldn't tell or didn't want to. But they fixed my claim promptly. It worked out pretty good. I just did the $60 co-pay.

    Ms. Sperry,

The technician needed to replace the pilot assembly. I have reached out to him and advised him that we share information with our members. Some home warranty companies have some sort of block on the information shared but we are open ended and as you stated it is your furnace therefore it is your right to know the diagnosis. Also, we are open 7 days a week so please feel free to call in if you are ever having an issue or have more questions. Thank you for your review, hopefully the information I provided helps to clear up any confusion. Also thank you for letting us know this, that way we were able to give the technician more training.

I Googled America’s First Choice Home Club and saw it was the top-rated one. I have filed two claims over the phone and it's been pretty quick. The reps were good and so were the technicians. They're still working on the garage while the washer had something with the computer. It was damaged and they replaced it.

I recommend AFC. So far, I have no problems with them.

We have made some claims and all have been denied. Eventually, after much interaction, we got minor compensation. I have the exclusions and I have a hard time figuring out what they actually will cover. I would have preferred the $1000 for the cost of this warranty over the actual warranty.

Watch out for all the loopholes and read your contracts. I purchased this warranty for my rental property. The appliances were older but I did not think they would not be eligible for repair. I mean ALL of them except for the new refrigerator we put in but then that's covered by the manufacturer. ALL new appliances come with a warranty or buy an extended with SquareTrade. I have had other home warranties where they replace the item with something of equal value (Sears Home Protection) no matter how old it is if it cannot be repaired. It is cheaper to just pay for a repair service or buy a new appliance if you want peace of mind.

We have tried to reach out to this member directly several times in the past with no response. Please be aware no plan can take away the full responsibility of being a homeowner, and each company has terms to allocate just what is included for coverage. No loopholes in this plan all guidelines are published. We replace the item with like value of the current item or offer that towards repair. Hopefully we can assist you in the future and we wish you the best.

I had American Home Shield and I wish I never switched to America's First Choice Home Club. I signed a three-year contract with them and it's been bad experiences, left and right. The last time we had was so easy. You just call in, they text message you, somebody comes within 24 hours, the thing gets fixed, and then you're done. But First Choice always finds loopholes. They say they're not going to be responsible for that and they're not responsible for this.

In addition, when you sign up, they say you have to wait 30 days for it to take effect which is fine. I get it. But I felt they should have some clause there if you've had insurance like I did for the last five years. So I paid for two insurances for 30 days and then, when something happened the second month I had them, there was something in the fine print that says if something happens after the 30 days, First Choice only covers a certain percentage and they never told me that. I was upset.

Also, while submitting a claim was not too bad, they close. So if it's 5:45, you have to call back. But then, somebody will answer and tell you they don't know how to do things, which wasn't the case with the last company I had. I did ask First Choice why can't they put it in the system and start it or why are they even answering the phone if they can't do anything. I just get frustrated. And since after you start a claim, they have 48 hours to even contact their technician, I call around and find out who to use. I'm just glad that they allow you to do it because sometimes, like when my pump breaks on a pool and I have to wait a couple of days, the whole pool system that I have been paying to keep up could be messy. So I just had a technician come out.

My brother wasn’t too happy with another company he was with. Then he heard about America's First Choice Home Club and he said he would give them a try. I also chose them because of him. The warranties that I had when I first bought my products were getting ready to expire. The reps were really nice but when I first signed up, they did not explain to me that when I have an issue, I have to have this person doing the repair give an estimate, then it has to be approved. When I had an issue with my toilet leaking, I called and they told me that I could use their person or I could get my own. But if I would use theirs, it would take maybe 24 hours and I couldn’t wait that long. My toilet was leaking and I needed to be able to use it. So they said that I could get my own person as long as he’s licensed, certified and insured. It was not a problem because I already had a plumber.

The plumber came out and told me what was wrong. I then called AFC and they told me they had to submit it to get it approved. I was like, “Approved? Where this approved come from?” If they were not satisfied with what this plumber told me, were they not paying for the work? I had them on speaker and the plumber was thinking that he was not going to get paid and that he had wasted his time. I told him he was going to get paid and I needed my toilet fixed. The AFC rep said that she would call right back. In the meantime, the plumber had to wait and he couldn’t do anything.

When I signed up, I asked the guy that I talked to how this works and he said that I would pay so much every month until I pay off the plan and then when I need a repair, I am going to pay $60. He didn’t tell me anything else. They can’t just tell us half of what they want us to know because they want our business. I’m a homeowner and when I say I need a repair, I need a repair. I can’t pick up the phone and call a landlord. I am the landlord. They’re supposed to conduct business the way they told me, no add-on and no added accessories.

I’m paying them $1250 for about three years and I’m only supposed to have to pay them $60 to get my stuff fixed. They told me all I needed was to make sure that the person was licensed and insured. He gave me a scope of what he was doing and then AFC was telling me the claim had to be approved and then they may tell me it’s not covered. They didn’t tell me that. I covered almost everything in my house, except for the water heater ‘cause it’s brand-new and it’s under coverage through who I bought it from. It was crazy and I was not a happy camper. My brother also had an incident and he’s not a happy camper right now either. His water heater went out and because it was leaking, AFC said it was not covered even though it’s not in their contract that it’s not covered. All they could give him was $180 towards a new one. But I’m new. I’ve only used them once and I’m willing to give them a second chance.

I bought a home in 2015 and at the time, AFC was offering me the best price and they had a couple of other incentives that were working for me so I went with them. I have put in two service requests and AFC has gotten everything done. I just call them and they usually get back with me with the provider in my area that will take care of the work and go from there.

I’m not sure who the company was that they sent out the first time when I had a problem with my refrigerator. It was a husband and wife team. But they were very argumentative with me about how I was supposed to pay, because I know I’m only supposed to pay the $60 fee when they come out and then the warranty company pays the other. And the guy was arguing with me because evidently he works with other maintenance companies that don’t handle it that way. I had to call AFC while he was there and get them to talk to him before he would complete the work and do what he was supposed to do.

Then second guy that came in, AFC told me to have him call them before he did the work. I did that, but he told me he couldn’t get in touch with them and he was just gonna go ahead and fix the freezer. And since the freezer wasn’t working, I just let him fix it because my ice was melting and the stuff in there was melting. When I talked to America’s 1st Choice, the lady told me that that took the choice of replacing the refrigerator out of my hands, because I could have gone with replacement and having them give me whatever they were going to give me towards the replacement or I have him repair it. But since he already repaired it, I felt that he had to be paid because he did the work. So, the technicians have been little iffy, but other than that, they have gotten the stuff done and they worked really well with me.

When a technician is assigned, a work order is provided with step by step guidelines. Since techs are third party sometimes they may forget to take the work order or not understand the process. The two techs that came to your home have worked with us several times, so I do apologize they seemed confused. I have reached out to them for a refresher on how the claims process works. My brother is a realtor and I was buying a house and he told me to look into some kind of insurance plan. I Googled it and America's 1st Choice Home Club came up. Their prices were reasonable and it seemed like they covered more. But that’s an issue because the person I spoke to on the phone would sell me anything. They got the packet but I didn't get it and I had to call three times for it. And he had told me the roofs were covered, but they were not. He had told me, "Your dishwasher breaks, we replace it." Those were his words.

I just had my heater go and AFC Home Club took depreciation because it's 10 years old. First, they tried to give me $100 and I said no. I had it inspected before I moved in. I could have wanted a heating specialist like an HVAC type of person to look at it, but we had to pay for that. I'm disabled and I can't force a big bill. But I still wasn’t satisfied with the service call, so I paid for somebody else. When I told AFC Home Club that, they brought the bill up to $200 something, but the bill with the other contractor was over $300. So, it's very misleading when you talk to a salesman.

I call when I submit claims and the first claim I had was for my garage door that wouldn't close. Being a single woman, I was concerned about getting it shut. It was a weekend and the rep said someone would call me first thing in the morning, and nobody called. I called the garage door company which took care of the problem but AFC Home Club did not pay for the whole repair. Also, there was one time when I had no heat. AFC Home Club said the repair would be in a couple days, but then it was in mid-winter and I had no heat. So, for both times with the garage door and the heat, I got my own contractor because I wasn’t waiting for their guy to come out. If it's something that needs to be fixed right away, I'd be happy to use a third person. AFC Home Club's service was so-so, but I paid three years in advance. My experience with them has been very disappointing and I wouldn’t recommend them.

Our AC unit went out and the part needed to fix it was $1500. We were also advised we should replace the system. One of the reasons I took out a home warranty was for situations such as this. AFC said the part we needed to fix the AC wasn't covered and would not pay anything toward a new unit. Why do I even have coverage? I plan to cancel.

I talked to the sales guy and he was good. I was happy about being able to cancel it at any time or I can bring my own contractor--I have a good plumber. However, when my contractor tried to call, he waited a long time. So he dropped the call because he was coming and it was an emergency plumbing issue. Besides, the contractor cannot keep calling or be staying online for a long time. But other than that, when I call AFC, they would call me back immediately and send out a contractor for a different issue.

One of my friends said something about AFC Home Club. I went on the internet to compare prices and decided to go with them. When I filed claims, the technicians they sent out were great. The first company I called was for my washing machine that wasn't spinning. Their tech kept saying that I owed $75 but I said I owed $60 and AFC would pay them the rest. He called his office and got it straightened out. So, they weren't very informed on that.

Other than that, AFC should make answering the phone a priority. I would call them and nobody would answer. Then, when I'd talk to them, they'd put me on hold but would never say, it'd be a 10-minute or a five-minute wait. It would just have this music come on and it was very frustrating. I used to have American Home Shield and they would always answer and I'd get serviced. So, I thought that AFC gave me bad service and I almost went back to American Home Shield because of it. I tried to call my salesperson but he never answered. So I'm giving AFC another try and hopefully, they get better on that. Otherwise, everybody I talked to was very nice. I also recommended AFC to others. For a home warranty, $60 makes a big difference and I suppose their price doesn't go up like it did with American Home Shield. I started off with $35 in American Home Shield and it went the whole way up to $75. So if AFC's price would stay at $60, it'd be fine.

I was getting older and unable to do a lot. I replaced a roof this year, an EZ tier, and a brand new refrigerator, which would have been covered by a home warranty. And everybody said it was getting to be a time for everything else to start falling apart in my house, so I decided that I needed to see some insurance for all my home needs. I was searching among different companies, filled out a form, and somebody from AFC Home Club personally called, so they got my business.

I tried filing a claim with them online for my septic system but their website wasn't responding right, so I did it by phone. When their reps came out, they stopped the septic system and I was not using water or the toilet for a couple of days. Then, nobody was calling me back. So, I called AFC again and this time, they apologized and said that the problem was that they hadn't been able to find anybody locally that works with my system because I'm in a small community in the west side of the mountains of Washington State. So they told me that perhaps I could find somebody myself locally, which I did.

When the people came out from the company to work on the system, the fellow who was in-charged spoke with AFC's representative on the phone. She spoke to me and said that they would be covering the work up to $190. Fortunately, it didn't cost that much. I sent the paperwork last month and so far, I haven't received my money yet. Still, I was satisfied with how they dealt with me. I also liked how they contacted me and that they seemed informative when I asked questions about the warranty before I actually signed up.

I shopped around for different home warranty providers and I selected America's First Choice Home Club after doing a comparison of the cost and services provided by other companies. I worked with their salesperson in Georgia, explained to him what type of home equipment I had, and he was able to cover what I described to him. I've had two claims so far and for the first one, I called ahead to talk to the service people and make sure it was covered. There was a situation that wasn't covered but it was not a big deal.

On the second one I had recently, I was able to get a covered piece of the equipment repaired. I was encouraged to provide some evidence of preventive maintenance on this equipment and since I've only had the house for a few months, it was a little difficult to provide that. But I used the home inspection information that was provided when we did the inspection of the house and that was okay with the claims people. America's First Choice Home Club was also very responsive. I was able to get the work scheduled the very next day and got it done, so I couldn't be happier for that. Plus, we had a good repair person that was easy to work with. I was on site when the repairs were being made so I could understand what was going on and how to avoid it in the future. It was an easy and painless process. I got full coverage for the maintenance, too. That was the one experience I had where the warranty seemed pretty reasonable.

I went with America's First Choice Home Club because of their pricing, although they are competitive with everyone else. Submitting a claim, however, was a very poor experience and I was very disappointed. I had a garbage disposal issue and I've come to find out they only reimburse a partial amount of the disposal and not any labor required in replacing. Because on their website, it says what they cover and one of them is the disposal. But it does not say that the labor is not included and it does not say that for the disposal, as an example, "We only cover x-amount." And looking closely at the contract, it stipulates something about certain items that they do not reimburse labor charges for. I even did the installation myself as they would not cover labor.

Also, my wife said that that was the reason why we have a home warranty because of that labor. If we have known that, we would not have picked that insurance home warranty. It was not disclosed properly. When you're paying a home warranty and you're not really getting what you're expecting, I think that is wrong. Our past home warranty was a very different service. They paid for the labor. We thought we'd try something different and it was a mistake.

So consequently, this was our first claim with them. Hopefully, it would be my last because next year, when this expires, I'm canceling and going with someone else. Plus, there was a refund that happened well over a month ago, and when I called them just this past week, it was just an answering service and the technician would not get back to me until Monday morning. They failed to mention, "Oh, it could take up to 30 days to have your check processed." So, I just received it just yesterday. We're very disappointed with their service.

We are sorry to hear that you were not pleased with the disposal request. Labor is covered on all other items in the membership except Disposals. The reason for this is it is a common item that can be installed by the homeowner, just as you stated you did. By installing this yourself and purchasing the unit in full you also save a $60.00 service fee. Normally a handyman charges about $60.00 to install these units which you can then take the money you saved and pay the handyman if you wish. I apologize if this was not stated to your clearly about saving the service fee. If you would like to update the star rating now that you were made aware of this stipulation solely being on disposal and Labor is covered on other repairs we would be happy to offer the $60.00 service fee directly to you since you installed this yourself, thank you.

I have been with this company for 4 years now and each interaction I have had has been great! I was surprised to read some of the other reviews but I am happy. I just had a plumbing issue with my toilets and sinks backing up. I called them that morning and they had a plumber set up for me within a few hours. He snaked the lines and had to replace some piping which I know can't be cheap. I have had about a request a year so far and each time I have been happy, I feel like I am getting my money's worth and that I am appropriately protected.

I'm very disappointed with this company because I purchased a home warranty for my home and 3 months later I submitted a claim and not only that they don't want to cover the electric fail. I have to pay the technician that was very unprofessional to tell me what I already know. That it was a short in the wire, when you no need to be a scientist to know that, and I discovered that, they have a lot of hiding stuff in the contract. They only covers parts that doesn't break on the items. They said that your appliances, plumbing and electronic, electric are covered but it's only parts that doesn't break. They don't cover the main things, don't ever buy this warranty.

I submitted my first claim to AFC Home Club and the rep was alright but I'm just not happy about it. They sent a guy out to do what I already knew had to be done. I knew the machine had to be replaced. I wish I'd gotten more than $100 because the machine costs over $400. They claimed that the old machine is only worth that much because of the age of it. I'm going to end up getting $40 because that guy cost me $60. Also, the new washer hasn't arrived yet. I wish they would cover more of the money for the machine and not to have charged me of $60 for a guy to come out and spend 10 minutes to look at a latch and say it's broken. The whole thing seemed kind of silly. I would not recommend them and would tell others that I wasn't happy with the entire experience.

I've had a home warranty before and I decided to look into getting one again. AFC Home Club has live people I can talk to and that made me go with them. When I submitted a claim, I did it online but it was difficult so the live person had to come in. I had a fine dealing with their rep but I feel that the technicians they used were not competent and the quality of work they performed was not good. At the time, they did not look into the problem and just recommended a replacement. I had another technician that came out and did an evaluation, and it was a totally different conclusion. I also found out later that there were a lot of hidden agenda and some limitations. There were stuff they don't cover after I signed up. When something happened after the first month and my repair cost was up to a $1,000, they only covered $150. They also said I can cancel anytime, but there is a cancellation fee. I’m very dissatisfied and I’ll tell a friend of mine not to go with them.

I researched America's 1st Choice Home Club online as I was looking for a home warranty. Initially, I thought that what they were offering was competitive in comparison to other home warranties. It may have been a rushed decision since there was a $250 down payment, which I didn't know about until the actual sign up of the warranty, so it took me by surprise. And I still pay them each month.

They're responsive in reference to filing the claim. They have it set up where it's user-friendly. However, when it comes to the people they have contracted with to come out to our home, I haven't had the best outcomes. On the first situation, the person never even called me. I was chasing him down to schedule something. We ended up having to go to somebody else since he wasn't very responsive. I'm usually patient where I could give him a week, but it started dragging on.

The second time around, the technician needed to come out multiple times before he resolved the problem. He took out something out of my refrigerator that wasn't broken, which I never liked. And then, he never brought that part back because he said that he replaced it. I told him that maybe I could get that other one and continue to utilize that in case something does happen. Still, he didn't return it. And then, the replaced part still doesn't function as it would even if I would've called somebody with more professionalism or experience. Now I regret going with America's 1st Choice and should've gone with somebody else that has more technicians, locally, that can accommodate my needs.

I've only had two claims, but one involved a company that took three weeks to complete the service. Supposedly, there was a part coming in but they didn’t follow up well with me so it was frustrating and I let AFC know about it. Other than that, the work quality was fine, and also, AFC Home Club was better than American Home Shield.

I wasn't getting the response I needed and there was confusion. And when I spoke to their claims representative, I got transferred during the first phone call. But it was partly my fault. There were conclusions in the contract that weren't clear to me and there were certain things that weren't spelled out fully to my understanding. Also, I didn't ask what the max was and I should have asked questions before making decisions. So I went back to them about that and everything is better now. Their pool of technicians is good and I had no problems with them. I also found it respectful that AFC let me use our own people. I would tell friends and family members to reach out to AFC but I would tell them to get more details and other opinions out there.

I am only leaving one star because I can't leave zero. I took a policy with AFC in November when our original policy expired with American Home Shield and the price went up to renew. We had been in our house a year and our home had had a lot of unexpected breakages in the first year so we took the platinum AFC coverage as insurance against any surprises. Our water heater broke last Thursday. Actually the pipe above it burst and was leaking on the heater. I called as soon as I noticed it and they called back the following day and left the message of a contractor to come and assess the heater. This was the first difference my prior experience, I had to arrange my own contractor.

I called the company and they said they had never heard of AFC and didn't do warranty call outs except American Home Shield. I had used this plumber before however and knew they were a good firm. It took until Monday calling back and forth for them to send a work order to the plumber so they would come out. I got on the schedule and they came out Tuesday, by which time the slow leak was all over one corner of my unfinished part of the basement. I mentioned this to the service center and they said to "call back when the technician was in situ and they would be able to resolve the problem then and there." The technician came out and said the valve above the heater had failed and it was not a standard valve.

I was present when he told the service center this on the call. They then said they could not resolve the claim "because the claims department has many cases prior to yours." Then there was an issue with the fact I have two water heaters which I told them when I was sold the policy. They said they were likely under warranty and they had the wrong serial number. Then they said the water heater had failed and it was not covered. I was exasperated at this point and felt that they were flipping through a book to find reasons to refuse the charge and their response was neither in the spirit nor the letter of the warranty I bought. They offered a goodwill gesture of $125 against a $1360 repair.

I was made to feel like a crook on the make rather than someone making a valid claim on an insurance policy I took out. I said at that point I would cancel my policy and save myself the money towards the repair seeing as vice days later all I had was a larger leak, a ton of aggravation and the number of the guy I would have called originally. They said to cancel they needed a certified letter their head office, a $75 cancellation fee and my policy would be prorated from when they received the policy. I rang their main office at that point and asked to speak to a supervisor. She called me the following morning and I gave hearth history. She said she wondered why I had two heaters and looked online and my house looked great, I have a lovely home, which I felt was way out of the scope of my complaint.

I explained I had gone ahead and scheduled the repair being 6 days without water and having a sizable amount of water on my basement floor. She said she wouldn't cover heaters, I explained again the heater had not failed. It was the plumbing to it which is clearly covered in all the information I had. I gave her the number of the technician who she called and confirmed. She said she would not cover the repair beyond $180. The cost of the heater and a node in Lowe's, that the rest of the repair is labor which they wouldn't cover anyway and that's was only a goodwill gesture given as the valve was not standard. I expressed my frustration given that I was as a homeowner not surely expected to certify every piece of equipment prior to buying the policy and this was only the latest in a long list of reasons to try refuse the claim.

That surely labor would be covered in any event as it was in my previous policy. My advice is keep your $600 towards any failure you might have in your home and stay well clear of these crooks, they fully intend to do nothing for any failure in your home and their customer service is by far the poorest I've encountered in a long time. I spend over 3 hours on hold in all this back and forth and never spoke to the same person twice. I will be canceling this policy.

I was told that paperwork about the policy would be sent to me via US Post and email soon with all the details and I am not satisfied then I would have the right to cancel within thirty days with full refund. I never received anything via US post or email from the representative named Randy. I called Randy on 1/27 several times but no call back. I left him a message based on what I read online - reviews and on the site which said that this membership does not meet my need and I want to cancel it. I had not heard back from him so I called the company back and they said I have to talk to Randy regarding this as they can't touch the account so I left him another voice message regarding cancelling the membership and getting a refund.

He called me back later that day and left me vm stating that he was returning my call. I called him back on the 1/31 and he said paperwork was sent out and I told him I have not received it so go ahead and cancel it as I have stated in my messages to him and once I receive the paperwork and upon my review if it suits my needs then I will let him know if I am interested in buying it at that time. On 1/31 the membership should have been cancelled so I gave it a few days for the transaction to go through and funds to be credited and on 2/12 I called Randy back stating that I have not seen the cancellation and have not received anything and want to be sure this cancellation goes through but no answer back.

I called back on 2/14. I called Randy back and he said he misunderstood about cancellation and he has his folks sent me another package which I have yet to receive and he also lied about calling me back and not receiving my messages. I told him that we are still under a month grace period so cancel the membership right now. He said he is putting in for it but I will receive a follow up call from his boss tomorrow. No call from him or his boss and my another charge of $592 on my credit card shows up.

These people are con artists, dishonest and running a fraudulent business holding your funds hostage once you give them your credit card information. I have the charges in dispute now and will be taking legal action against these morons. I would not recommend them no matter what they try to tell you. There were no follow up on receipt of any material even after I told Randy that I had not received anything. No ones takes the call or tries to help you but refer you to this guy Randy since he was the one who took the order but Randy can't cancel the order but can only put in a request which never seems to go through. I have my phone records to prove it and my credit card statement to show charges but no other communication from this company. What kind of business are they doing? This company should be banned from doing business.

When my air conditioning went out, I had to pay for it. I was ready to cancel but they said, "We can take that off your insurance then we'll give you $100 goodwill." It was a big deal for a $5,000 system. I said, "You're going to take that off of my premium because I already paid for three years." They agreed. I was also told, "You don't have to pay for the insurance on that because you bought a new system and have a manufacturer's warranty." However, for a year now, I've been trying to get them to refund my portion of my insurance for the air conditioner and I still have not had that deduction off of what I pay.

In December, when my refrigerator went out and they told me that they weren't going to pay for it, I again asked them about refunding my money for the insurance on the air conditioning and that was the last time I heard from them. There's no communication and they don't do what they say they would. However, I'm locked in. I paid for three years and if I can't get a refund from them, getting my money back will be an act of god. America's 1st Choice had the highest overall ratings that I could find online. With a few different websites that would list the top five warranty companies, they were always within the top three. The reviews said that they always had good customer service. I have a sizeable house and for the area, it's an older house. It's an almost 30-year-old house and so, a lot of the appliances, like the air conditioner, the stove, and the oven are all the original. I factored it in that things were probably gonna be needed to be replaced soon and would need quite a few repairs in between. So it would be more financially intelligent to have something to help with those expenses.

Whenever I submit a claim, I just call them and say what was going on. Last summer, we were having 12-degree temperatures and my air conditioner went out. I have children and pets, and AFC had somebody call me within 24 hours to come out, take a look and repair the air conditioner. Then on Christmas Day, my dishwasher went out and they had somebody out the next day. Even though it wasn't as high priority because it's a dishwasher, they still had somebody at the house within 48 hours.

Most of the time, the guys that they hire are really good. There was an incident where they had somebody that was contracted through them that was a little unusual. He made me a little uncomfortable after he left. He made some damage to my drywall that was not necessary. I called up and not only did they have him reimburse me my co-payment, but they said that they took him out of their contracted people to use. Other than that one guy, the quality of the work of the people that they contract has been great. When there is a problem, AFC resolves it quickly and efficiently.

They were saying that I needed to cover a majority of the cost to replace the pump and that it was due to age. I'd come to find out they didn’t do the research that they needed to do and it's only two years old. The claim was for a pool pump and they work on those for about eight years. That's when they're considering replacement because of aging and they'll stop covering all of it. If I hadn’t called them about it, I wouldn't have ended up paying for a majority of it.

The first time I called it was New Year's Day and it was an answering service, so I never got a callback. There was some kind of miscommunication between the answering service and the warranty company. I had to follow-up with them. Then, I got a call from a representative. America's First Choice Home Club didn’t disclose what they were supposed to disclose upfront. The only thing they told me was that everything was written on the book which has all the fine prints, so it was confusing to me. They should have also told me that my coverage will start at 30 days. After 45 days, I will have 50% coverage and after 60 days I will have 30% coverage. I told them that they told me that everything is covered up to 30 days, but the guy said that only some percentage will be covered. So, my claim came out after 45 or 50 days. Before that, I had a bad experience with a small claim I made.

My dishwasher was an expensive one and there was a small part that was bad. The guy came for the first time and the second time, he said that they could send a second time and since they had a hard time finding the part, the maximum that they would offer was $175. When I buy a new appliance, the $175 will be applied. I told him that I was told that if it couldn't be fixed, it would be replaced. He said that they would only cover up to a certain amount because of the age of the appliance. I asked him why the salesman said that the appliance would be replaced. They should say that they will only cover 20% of the appliance if it is more than 5 years old.

Also, one technician kept asking me upfront money. He said he needed to charge me $60 but he couldn't do anything and he was still insisting me to pay. I called AFC and they told me what exactly was going on and I asked them what they wanted me to do. They need to be more upfront with at least the main criteria which is when my coverage starts and how much is covered. People get misguided because they sell the plan that says if something is wrong and cannot be fixed, the appliance will be replaced, but that is not true. Their salespeople are totally deceiving when they are selling their business. They need to be more transparent and that's what they are lacking.

I used to have Old Republic and I missed their enrollment. I looked for another vendor and found America's First Choice Home Club. They have higher ratings than anybody else. Submitting a claim was decent. However, I still love Old Republic in that manner because if I have any work order, the technician is out within two hours even if it’s nighttime. After 8:00 p.m. with AFC, they don’t send anybody out. That’s one thing I feel Old Republic is better than AFC. Even so, the reps from AFC were good. They were able to assist me well. It was also easy to take the work order right then and there with AFC. The techs came on time, were able to solve my issue and were pretty good in giving me advice on how to make sure things keep going well. Their work was excellent. I would definitely recommend them to others.

I've been with AHS and one of the things I didn't like about them is that they put my call on hold for 45 minutes. There were times when I had to take the phone out, set it down and then I'd be doing something till I hear, “Hello?” I would run and by the time I got over there, they already hang up. They also said I could fax them information to a certain number they've given me. So I did and waited for a few days. Then I called to make sure they received it but then the lady asked to whom I faxed it to and said that I had to fax it again to a certain number. I've had such a bad experience with them that I didn't know if I wanted to have another home warranty. But with AFC, I liked that I didn't have to call around and worry if they were telling me the truth. So I got them because the rep that I talked to was very informative and made me believe that they were a good company as he talked about AFC's reputation.

After the 30-day waiting period which I was covered, I had an issue with my icemaker and I was told that they only cover so much on it which wasn't disclosed to me on the paperwork. I was upset about that. I have multiple homes and have been with a home warranty since 1992 but this was new to me. I told the rep that if I knew that, I might have just bought four new appliances for this package deal rather than put money into the icemaker. I called them to give me a little bit more time but they ended up processing me a hundred and some dollars.

Then, my heater wouldn't come on so I had to call them again. I got the "this is your second claim" vibe and again, it was a fluke since I've been covered up. I told the rep that I had proof and that I could send her copies. I was almost discouraged to file another claim. I told the rep that I've paid three years in advance and that if they wanted to cancel my warranty and send my money back, I would handle my problems. But I tried to be patient and eventually, they sent someone to fix the problem which was the thermostat.

The number one company doesn't cover California so I got AFC Home Club, which is rated number two. I have submitted two claims with them and both have been good experiences. AFC responds quickly and is easy to work with. I called them directly and they were very professional and efficient. They knew their business and knew the right questions to ask. I would recommend AFC Home Club to anybody interested.

The tech who came out for our heater problem was great. He tried to fix it the first time and we paid and he went. A week later, it was broken again so he came out. He told us that America's First Choice shouldn’t have charged us a double fee for him to come out and that the part should have been covered. But we had to pay for those so I'm not really happy. I called AFC and told them that they overcharged me, but they didn’t care. They just told me they were sorry. AFC stinks and they ought to take it off the internet that they're the number one company because they aren't in my book. I'm looking to cancel and go with another company.

I was looking for a home warranty online and AFC Home Club came up so I called and spoke with them. I got some details and continued researching but they came up with the best plan that was more affordable and had a lot more to offer so I went with them. When my disposer broke, I called them and their customer service reps were very pleasant. I told them what my needs were and they told me what they would or would not cover. They said that all they would pay for was the actual disposer itself if I would send them the receipt, then I would have to hire someone to put it in. So I sent them the receipt and they paid for it which was better than nothing.

However, I was a little irritated and disappointed that the $57 that I was paying each month did not cover having someone to come out, install and put in a new one. They also told me they would give me referrals for people that did it in my area, but the people that they referred me to were charging $85 an hour which I had to pay even if it took 20 minutes, so I looked for a handyman that can do it. Although they don't always cover everything on disposers, they're still okay.

When we moved down here three years ago, the seller gave us a year of home warranty with Old Republic. It worked out well because the first year everything fell apart. But because of that, Old Republic dropped us after the year. I thought the home warranty is a good idea but I had to go and find a different warranty, which was the first time I ever really dealt with home warranties. I thought America's 1st Choice had a good rating from what I saw online but I have since changed my mind about that.

With Old Republic, I could call and a person would take the claim. They would tell me who they're going to assign and they get on it right away, so I get right into that department. With AmFam, I don't get the person directly. They take the information and then anywhere from 24 to 48 hours I might get somebody to call me back. So if the air conditioning's crapped out in the middle of the summer, you get pretty pissed off.

The contract, although I never got to see it beforehand, has a lot of exclusions that just don't make sense to me. One of the water heaters had water in the pan and was a little bit rusted. We called AmFam to have the heater checked and they said if there's water in the pan and any kind of rust, it's not covered. I was up to date with the check-ups. It also took me two days just to get somebody on the phone to tell me it's excluded.

I happened to get a girl on the phone two instances lately that I got a little bit faster turnaround. One was during a heater checkup for the fall. The tech spotted something that needed to be changed out and fixed so I called up the home warranty to see if it falls into the purview and I was told yes. AmFam sent somebody out who called and said it's not covered. So I called back the warranty and the rep said they'd send somebody else. I said I would like my guy to do it, which is a good heating/air conditioning company over here. He does my warranty and did the spring/fall checkup so I'd rather have him fix the part. The rep said they'd work with them, but the problem is that nobody reputable wants to work with the warranty companies because they say they don't get paid and have all kinds of trouble.

So what I ended up arranging was that I will pay for the air conditioning/heating company, and AmFam would pay me back what I'm due. We got to an agreement on that and got the heater fixed. However, in the calculation of what they were going to pay me back, other people got involved and said I was only going to get $60 back and have to delete things. I disagreed and said it's supposed to be $120, not $60. So it's just a fight all the way with them.

With the dishwasher, they were pretty reasonable. The dishwasher is 13 years old and the part that feeds the water into the machine needed to be replaced. AmFam gave me an option for a buyout money towards a new machine or they would fix the dishwasher but won't cover it anymore because it's too old. I went and looked at machines but I didn’t like what I saw so I just let them fix the machine and it turned out okay.

But always the turnaround time is 48 hours. A tech comes out to diagnose the appliance, takes his fee, orders the part, but then I can't get him back until the next week. It's always a delay. With Old Republic, they're very prompt. So I am looking for another company now and I'm not going to renew with AmFam. At the time when I was talking to the sales guy, he promised me the moon. But I'm a little more educated and I'm going to ask for the contract. I want to see the terms, and what's excluded and not..

    Response from AFC Home Warranty
All AFC Home Club's guidelines, terms and coverage are clearly posted on our website for review prior to purchase. We also give a full 30-day 100% money back review once the membership is purchased. With any company there are items which are included and excluded. Unfortunately, there is no company in existence that can cover 100% of everything in the home but our coverage is very comprehensive and inclusive in the industry.
In regard to the member stating that repair men do not want to work with home warranty companies because it is "hard to get paid" this is a blanket assumption and false in regard to AFC. We have overcome this by always paying at the time of service directly to the vendor if they accept credit card payment. No other company can do this which insures our vendors are paid in a timely and direct manner. If the vendor is chosen by the homeowner on their own the reimbursement process would be different as we do not have them on file and those vendors most likely want to be paid by the person who hired them.
This member filed a request on the Water Heater and stated it was leaking from the top, this is not a mechanical failure and can be assessed by an agent during the call. This way it saves the member time and a service fee. Mechanical failures are covered by the plan, a water heater leaking is a long-term failure, it takes years for it to begin to wear to the point of a hole being in the tank and the unit leaking with rust. Home Club’s do not take away the full responsibility of being a homeowner, but they do aid and assist in unexpected failures, as she saw with her two other covered requests.
We do have a turnaround time of 24-48 hours, this is to ensure they techs have availability, if we can schedule sooner we will. Also when it comes to HVAC repairs these are always expedited above a dishwasher or dryer type request. After a technician comes to the home if there is a delay this means parts must be ordered this would happen with any homeowner or company if the parts are not readily on hand, but we always stay in touch with the member, we are sorry to hear that it took some time for her dishwasher to be repaired and we will ensure that does not happen again in the future, we are no longer using that specific technician due to the delay she experienced.

Nevertheless, we are very sorry to hear that she was not pleased with her services and full coverage and payment on her included items. We would love to maintain her business in the future. Once she receives quotes and reviews the actual coverages of other companies, not just sample plans, I think this member will be more aware of what she is purchasing, and that AFC is one of the most inclusive coverages available in the market along with the best reviews. We will be happy to waive a service fee on her renewed coverage if she chooses to move forward in March 2018, thank you for your time.

I've been told by my co-workers that it was good to have a coverage on everything. AFC Home Club had good ratings. However, I was disappointed when I submitted a claim. I had air conditioning service a year ago because I called in and have spoken to a couple of different people to make sure that I was following all the regulations. They told me they have no record of it so I have to go through my paperwork and find it but I couldn't even begin to do it tomorrow because of my work schedule.

The gal who I dealt with the most was very professional and very nice. But when they transferred me over to another lady who was supposed to handle finishing touches and have someone come out because my air conditioner wasn’t working correctly, she was very abrupt and very rude and told me that I'd have to wait a month for my reimbursement and that I wasn’t following the regulations right. She also wouldn't let me get a word in edgewise. They let me use my own air conditioning serviceman and he called them on behalf and explained to them that he didn’t feel it fair that I had to wait a month. So, his company took the payments from them and then I only had to pay the extra $65 which was very nice. But if he hadn’t done that, I would have been still waiting for the reimbursement.

I was trying to be very polite about the whole thing and she wouldn't even take it that I had the receipt from the year before. She just told me that I had never done it and it wasn't fully serviced. Also, she said I could use my serviceman again and to just to let them know. So I plan on doing that but I paid for the contract and I feel that the service needs to be taken care of. I've had two air conditioning men tell me that the air conditioner should be replaced. I hope we can get this resolved and I'll be happy.

Another instance I had a double oven which was just over one year old and heating elements malfunctioned! My tenants had just used the self cleaning function and AFC nullified the warranty! I contacted the manufacturer, which was Sears Pro and they had never heard of such an experience. We have used the self cleaning cycle on several ovens and never had any problems! That's the only reason I didn't give 1 star. However, the last 2 years have been that of subpar customer service and unfounded refusal of coverage. I've even had times where they refused to send a technician out to even diagnose a problem because they swore it wasn't going to be covered. If I'm only explaining symptoms of a problem, how do you know it's not a covered part that's causing the problem if someone hasn't looked at it first?

Another incident I experienced was my HVAC malfunctioning in the dead of winter and we were without heat. They claimed HVAC claims were priority but we went 5 days without a technician being assigned and sent out to our house. Poor customer service. I finally did not renew my with them as that was the last straw. Avoid as this company has gotten progressively worse.

Submitting a claim to them was really great. The agent was always very helpful and very responsive, even though with my last experience with the heater it took them almost a month to have a real appointment and have them come to my place and check it out. I understood that it was during the holiday season. The agent always kept me well-informed and kept calling to see if I got any appointments directly from the service vendor. Also the technician who came was good.

But in terms of their whole procedure the agent should explain more clear with what am I supposed to do or who's going to be in the control. Because for the heater and the washer dryer last time they called me to do the follow-up but I wasn’t aware who should do the next step. On the first call they can clearly indicate what exactly is to be expected then that will be great. But I was okay with sitting and waiting. They contacted me so I was not too worried. I always had a home warranty and I switched from American Home Shield because I wasn't so happy with it. I tried to choose someone who had the best ratings out there and not so many complaints, so I went with America's First Choice Home Club. It wasn’t the most positive experience though and if I hadn't just signed up with them, I probably would have dropped them and found somebody else. When I put the claim in for my washer, there was something in the house that they said they weren't going to cover and no one ever got back to me. That's not acceptable. We live in a customer service world and the responsiveness was slow. On another instance, they had assigned me someone to come fix my washer and when I called those people, they said that they don't work through warranty companies. When I called AFC, they said that they just got that information.

They’re quick to take my money every month but they’re not so quick to solve problems and I didn’t like that. Also, I always get a different rep every time I call. But the rep that I got for the last situation was very apologetic. And the company they sent out to fix the washer/dryer was stellar. They didn’t have the part but they did something to fix it until the part would come in because the washing machine was leaking water. They were fabulous people and they said that if there's anything ever wrong again from that trip, I should call them back and not the warranty company. They will come back and fix it at no charge. That's the way it should be.

America's First Choice Home Club is just mediocre. Find somebody bigger and more well-established because they haven't been around that long. If AFC continues to operate the way they have, they won't be around that long because they'll end up with bad ratings like some of the other warranty companies. They have what it takes though. On the onset when I call them, they say all the right things. The proof is in the pudding and your first line of defense if you get on the phone with someone who is not necessarily knowledgeable about their own products and services is that at least you are talking to someone with a level of intelligence and someone who is compassionate about customer service.

I did a lot of research on the internet to move away from American Home Shield and now I'm sitting around and thinking that AFC Home Club is really no better. I’m a professional businesswoman so I don’t have time to keep calling someone to follow-up on what they should be doing for me. That's the service I pay for and that's seriously where they lack.

AFC would not cover the issue with my AC unit which was diagnosed to have a leak in the evaporator coil. There is a repair service record from within a year on the unit in question that says that the unit was inspected and there were no leaks to be found. AFC claims that this request is not a preventative maintenance and therefore per their policy I did not have a preventative maintenance done on the unit and therefore denying coverage. There is no damage or dust on the coil that points to the coil being maintained poorly. Rusting of the evaporator coils is a common issue and happens over a period of time. There is no preventative maintenance that would prevent rusting as any AC tech would tell you.

This is just a shady company which looks for loopholes to get out of providing coverage as much as possible. When asked how a warranty provider can choose not to cover something, their response is that they are a "home club" not a warranty provider. Which is basically another legal loophole that they are using to swindle their way out of providing the service they are supposed to provide. They also have a 30 day blackout period when the policy is initiated where they take your money and clock starts as far as membership goes, but they do not cover anything at the time. I have requested them to cancel my policy but they make this very difficult as well by making you send a letter by mail, and they will start the cancellation only on the date they receive this letter. Shady company with shady practice to get out of paying for coverage. Really bad experience and I will never go back to them.

I liked America's First Choice Home Club pricewise so I chose them over other providers. There weren't a lot of steps in submitting a claim through their website and it was easy to do. Their rep was very nice and gave me all the info I needed at the time. I had three calls with them and everything was fine. Their techs explained what happened to the equipment and everything they would do. They were professional enough. It was a very good experience and I would recommend them.

America's First Choice Home Club has good ratings and they allow us to potentially choose our own vendors. I submitted a claim and it was relatively easy. That was after the one-month probation period but I was told I would qualify for $100 to $150 because it was within the second month. I first called and they told me what documentation I needed. I submitted whatever they asked for then, after I got the new one replaced, I submitted the bill for it. But I had to pay and enjoy all of it out-of-pocket. They showed me that in the contract, there was a ramped-up period before you are able to get the full reimbursement.

Their reps were courteous but they should have looked at the fact that I was only there for two months and I would only qualify for a very small amount. I would have appreciated them for that. Also, there was no action from America's First Choice to pay. From an experience perspective, they did sour it a bit, but I'll ask for the payment again. Other than that, the technician was someone that I'd asked for and my interaction with him was easy.

I always get a home warranty and I normally work with American Home Shield or America's Home Warranty but I've had bad experiences in the past, so I'm always looking for someone fresh and new. I tried America's First Choice and when I placed my service call, I found it a little odd that it took a while to get a fast response from them. It was not like with the other companies who were pretty quick and where I could even place a service call online. I called America's First Choice on a Thursday and they took the information, then I had to call back either Sunday or Monday to follow up because I never heard or got an email from anybody. After that, the local company got a hold of me. I got the service on the afternoon of Sunday and the service that was performed by the technician was great.

But later when I had claims, the response wasn't so good initially. They didn't cover some of the first couple of claims I submitted and they had their reasons, but I was a little disappointed and I was doubting why I chose them. Then more recently, I got a more positive experience. There was a lady who said said that they would not cover a particular type of refrigerator but they really tried to help. The technician who was sent out was really nice, too. He saw he had to come back one time to clean the coils and he was good.

We had an issue with our ductwork. Submitting a claim was easy but AFC took a long time to get back to me. Then, I found out the reason they had was that they weren't going to cover anything. Even the AC guy who came in to do the assessment said that he thought that it was way wrong that they didn’t do it. There was no reason they shouldn't.

At first, AFC said that if something caused it, they wouldn’t help. And the tech said, "Well, nothing caused it. It just deteriorated because it's been there for a while." And they said they don't cover it because it was deteriorated. I was like, "Well, what do you cover?" And they could not answer that question. The claims reps were reading off of a script and they'd go back and forth. They couldn't do anything. Then, they told me, "Well, we only cover $250 of it, if we did cover it." I said, "Well then, you should cover it." And they said they don't. But on another claim, we had our washing machine looked at and they were able to resolve it.

I'm a custom home builder and I have a large home. I've used other services like American Home Shield in the past. I decided to switch because when I looked at sites, America's First Choice Home Club got some very high reviews from Forbes and others. I presumed that the benefits were very similar. I've had three claims with them, and I've had to fight with everyone. I was very frustrated.

When I filed the claim for the air conditioner, they sent out a subcontractor who said two of my thermostats were not good. When it came time to replace them, because my home is very high-tech, I wanted Bard thermostats. Their contractor gave me a price for $850. AFC would only pay $250 of that, which was very basic. I paid extra for my house because it's above 5,000 feet, but when it came time for replacement of a covered item, they only covered very low. So, I called up my heating and air conditioning guy. I got him to do the replacement for $600. Fortunately, AFC gave me the $250 and I used my guy, so I saved $250. Their sub would not come down. A positive thing was that they came back later. I had a continuing problem with my air conditioning and they sent a fairly good guy. The last guy they sent was good and he fixed things.

Then when my pool heater went out, I talked to the guy at sales and he told me that the pool’s covered because I had to pay extra for it. It turned out that they just took out the pool heater. It's covered but the pool heater is not. I had to fight, and we finally compromised and I got a few $100 from AFC on that. Again, they sent out a first sub that was no good, but the second guy was good and he fixed it.

I had to fight very hard for my repairs, so I'm concerned about how they cover some of the stuff they sent. They compromised but I feel that their policy is not as good as American Home Shield. They need to be more competitive with the big player in the business. Their pricing is less but their coverage is not as good. But I am happy with the big boss who compromised on what I actually signed up. I have them for a few months now and I'm not going to cancel. I'm going to continue, but once it's time to renew, I'm going to study what they're actually offering versus other companies.

My warranty kept going up and it almost doubled in price, and I was tired of it increasing. I Googled to find out who had the best prices in the United States, and I went with AFC Home Club. Submitting a claim was extremely easy. If had some questions about it, I called AFC and they answered my questions thoroughly and completely right from the beginning. I was a brand-new customer and unfortunately my air conditioner went out on the roof. I live in California and the temperature at that time was about 110 degrees. I was calling on a Friday, and they said they wouldn't be able to send anybody out until Monday or Tuesday. But it was over 100 degrees so they considered that an emergency and they told me to call my own heating guy and they'll take care of it.

The air conditioner guy came on a Saturday and an AFC rep was there in the office that day. The rep was able to call and make contact and the air conditioner guy got paid right over the phone before he completed the work. I was glad the problem was with a capacitor and not a whole unit. However, it wasn’t covered 100%. I had to pay the guy his service fee which was on the contract but I got a charge for something else that was not covered by AFC, and it was not explained on my bill. I was so happy just to get the air conditioner around that I let it go and I never said anything. I had a great experience with AFC overall but I would've liked to know what wasn't covered.

I moved from a different state to TX and bought a home. I was provided home warranty from AFC home club for a year. As this was my first experience of home buying, I went ahead for this warranty as it offered claims on my most goods after 30 days of warranty start date. In the peak heat of TX, my AC went down on the 26th day of the second month of warranty. I contacted the customer service, they had some third party service at that hour who took down my details and was told that I will be contacted on Monday (I called late Fri evening). I was not contacted on Monday. I had to call up and was asked if I had any records for AC maintenance or service. Since the previous owner didn't provide and my realtor also couldn't help me get that. I thought being in second month they would address my concern but to my surprise and their cruelty, they insisted on it and said they will serve only if you have it. Otherwise forget it.

I contacted many times. Each time the customer service guy was very rude in telling this same thing except a couple of them who at least told me the same politely. I said if this is the service then I want to discontinue. They asked to send the same in written request. I sent it over. When I enquired about the refund, they said as per the terms it takes them 9 weeks to process the refund. Close to the end of 9 weeks I wrote them couple of nasty emails to which I believe, they took it more negatively and stopped my balance refund.

I contacted them again in the 11th week, then they said, “We're sending you the refund.” Finally I got my refund minus 75$ charges deducted and the service period for while was with them. These kind of companies are such that they will find out the finest details written in their contact to NOT serve you. So my request to fellow citizens is NOT to CONSIDER this company at all as far as home warranty is concerned. A 100% NEGATIVE customer service designed to loot every penny from your pocket.

I just bought this home but it's 20 years old so it made sense to get a home warranty and America's 1st Choice got the highest marks. It's simple to call them up and put a claim in. They have a third party vendor to give me a call. All the technicians were very good. However, I have a Sub-Zero refrigerator which was over 20 years old and they would not pay for it. There is a stipulation in the contract that they would only cover an appliance up to 20 years. They gave me something, but the bill was $1600 and I ended up having to pay $1000 of it, which the reason why I got a home warranty is that these things get covered. So, I was not happy with that.

Another feedback is that if I have two leaky faucets, they'll charge me $75 for each issue instead of one. If I got a plumber here and they charge an hour, they should fix everything. On the other hand, I had a relatively new dryer that was a couple of years old. When something went out on it, they came back three times, fixed it and it didn't cost me anything. Overall, America's 1st Choice is attentive and they're everything they say they are.

We bought this Gold Plan AFC Home Warranty "Multi Year Coverage" (for all Appliances & Systems) in 2014 and very very disappointed / frustrated over our 3 claims got rejected / denied in the last 2 years for no reason. #1. Plumbing Issues - Claim Denied (early 2015). #2. HVAC Issues - Claim Denied (early 2016). #3. Kitchen Refrigerator Issues - Claim Denied (Fall 2017). We are really surprised and shocked to read those reviews now (and we certainly got fooled in 2014 when we were reading these), that AFC "replaced" the appliances, when they had issues or broken (hope they are not fake reviews), when AFC rejected our simpler few hundred dollars fix / claims.

It happened to be a bad decision in opting for this AFC Home Warranty, as our last 3 claims got denied for no reason (after several weeks of delays even in creating a claim upon our online submission) without any fix made by contractor, despite contractors charged $60 each as service fee/deductible for the visit/diagnosis, and fixed nothing so far.

The America’s First Choice Home Club sales reps are great but I got a different kind of service when I called with issues. A sewer ejector pump had malfunctioned and I called AFC and had them send a repair person that was affiliated with them. They spoke to the repair person to diagnose the problem and gave the green light to fix the issue and told me the repair was approved. When the service was finished and the repair person left, AFC asked for the serial number of the broken piece of equipment that was replaced. Because the repair person already left, there was no way for me to get the serial number or the age or the model.

AFC gave me $75 which is the service charge of the repair person coming out and I paid $800 out of pocket. AFC gave me a check for $100 because they couldn’t verify the age or a serial number of the broken piece of equipment. AFC doesn’t tell that the customer should find out that information when replacing something. AFC gave me money based on how much the item is worth today. I got this type of insurance because I have old appliances and I thought that the purpose of covering older equipment was great. It turned out that AFC will only give a portion of what the items were worth and if they can’t verify the age, they give you next to nothing. I also need to pay a person to do an annual check-up where a repair person comes to my house even if I don’t have any issues. They examine my equipment every year so AFC knows the condition of each piece of equipment before I get it serviced.

He diagnosed the problem but based on the age of the water heater, it wasn't covered and AFC didn't tell us that in the beginning.

AFC is going to charge me another $200 to get it fixed so I complained to my rep and AFC took care of it. Because AFC's terms never said anything about age as a situation, they were able to cover it. That was a little bit back-and-forth but the rep that I dealt with came through for me. The second claim I had was really easy. It was for a garbage disposal and they just sent me a replacement. The claims representatives were good and being able to reach and deal with an individual at AFC was straightforward and easy to get through. In May of 2017 I submitted an estimate for pool repair work, that estimate was created by a technician and he mislabeled some of the info, he labeled the valves that I had to be replaced as "feeding the fountain and spa lines". My policy states that "coverage applies to in-ground, accessible working components and parts of the heating, pump, and filtration system as follows: ....check, and 2 and 3 way valves…..". The word "jet" and "fountain" were in that description so they immediately claimed that these parts are not covered. My solution was to get the final receipt from the owner of the business which is attached to this email. I submitted that info and they still refused to honor my policy. I called them over a period of 5 months, talked to 8+ representatives, one of which actually accused me of fraud and claimed the receipt I submitted was made by me, not by the company.

Every time I got the runaround, no manager is available and they will call you back before the end of the day. This went on for five months! When I finally spoke with the manager “Brittany” on 10/3/17 she told me that she had called my phone which she claimed rang without answer, that is impossible because I have mobile number with voicemail. She also claimed she emailed me multiple times, I checked all of my email folders and there was no such communication. I tried to explain to her the mix up with the original estimate, she refused to listen and she claimed that someone from her company actually talked to the technician. She also told me that I didn’t know what I was talking about because she does pool and spa claims all day long and these parts aren’t covered because they are part of ornamental pieces of the whole.

Then she read me back the wording that was on the original estimate which proves that they never did their due diligence by contacting my pool company. “He replaced 2 way valves and a check valve that feed the spa and fountain”. I have written proof that they never talked to anyone at the pool company which also proves that they are DISHONEST. I’ve attached images of the valves that they replaced, anyone with any pool knowledge can validate that these valves are part of the working components of the entire pool system and are not just localized to fountains or jets. This company has gone to extreme efforts just to deny my $300 claim for repairs that are completely covered by my policy which is FRAUD on their part. Don’t use this warranty company, they will not cover claims nor will they treat you with respect.

Later on in the afternoon hadn't heard squat so called AFC again, I asked why it's taking so long for approval AND THIS IS WHAT I WAS TOLD. The even bigger problem as to why it's not worth having their service is they suck at customer service. I called and requested service on my furnace. I gave them the brand of furnace and model number and described the problem that it wasn't igniting. I also filled out a service request form. They told me I would get called back within 24 hours and I did.

So that's 1 day after my furnace is not working. Then I'm told I will get a call by the company who will send out a technician within 24 hours. I got called by them 2 days later and they tell me that a technician comes out and verifies the problem and then submits it to AFC for approval and then once approved comes and fixes it. It's now been 3 days. They tell me a technician will call me in 1-2 days. 2 days go by and I never get called by a technician. So now it's been 5 days since I requested a service request. I'M CANCELLING THE LAME ** INSURANCE. IT SUCKS DOG **!!! I could save my money each month and be way better off and actually get my stuff fixed within a day. WHAT A RETARDED COMPANY!!!

I went with AFC after I looked at the BBB website and their pricing. I called them when I had a claim and they got all my information. They said that they would set things up, but nothing ever happened. They kept saying they'd call back with an appointment but I had to keep calling and when I finally called them back because I haven't heard anything in a few days, they gave me the number that I can call to get service. So, I had to set everything up by myself. I had two technicians out, one for the garage door which wasn't working and the other for our air conditioner, and both were fine.

But I feel like the warranty wasn't very useful and AFC's reps weren't very helpful. The contract was about to expire anyways so I ended up cancelling my plan with them after all of that. That was weird too because the first time I called, they gave me the runaround and said that I had to send a letter and have it certified. Then I called a little bit later and they cancelled it with no problem. It was also odd that the person who I set it all up with last year was really helpful in the beginning. Then when I've tried to e-mail and call several times, he never responded to any of my phone calls or e-mails even though he still works with the company.

I have recently purchased the "3-Year Gold Plan". The fan on my air handler has stopped working. Keep in mind that the "air handler" is one of three items that make up the HVAC system (A/C, Heater, and air handler). I called to see about getting someone out to fix it. They scheduled a company that does not deal with 2nd party insurance companies, only with the homeowner. I called AFC to ask about reimbursement if I pay the bill myself. I was told to cancel that technician and they would look for another. Still no call from anyone about the 95-degree house. I called back to express my concern about "no call back". I was then asked for my service documents proving that I had it serviced last year. I did in fact have it serviced by a small, independent, HVAC (one man) company but can no longer locate the receipt. They directed me to contact Dave to have him reproduce one for me from last year (really?).

Of course, my luck, Dave is now going through a nasty divorce and I am no longer a priority. Therefore I can't even start the "reproduction" process of the receipt for the next 5 days, when Dave gets back in his office. Once that is done, then I can get reimbursed for the current repairs. This has become an arduous process from a company who claims to be the leader in their industry.

I called a technician on my own, and have an appoint within a couple hours. I will get the system diagnosed and call in for pre-authorization. Of course, the service call alone will be $75.00 (without any pre-approval). What do you do? The system will get back up and operational. The question is now what will AFC do in the fight to reimburse me or cancel the policy and switch over to the "other one"??? If you are applying for this company's policy make sure you have all past service receipts for your appliances. They will not let you actually read the policy until you sign up and get the policy in the mail.

Recently bought my first 'home warranty' and bought it from AFC Home Club in Georgia. I checked with 4 others but these guys said that they offered the same service and were about 10% cheaper than the most. After owning the policy for a few months, my air conditioner went out so I gave AFC a call. Everything was fine on their end, and the serviceman and I spoke to AFC on the phone and provided them all of the requested detail on the A/C. The short version is as follows: After 5 days and enumerable phone calls with AFC, they said that my air conditioner was 'too old' at 15 years, and only offered to pay $150 of the $2,500 fee to 'repair or replace'. Wow, huh? (This particular unit is one of three that I have on my property and all three have had periodic inspections. The unit in question was inspected 6 months ago and said to be in A-1 condition.)

They justify their decision by saying that one of the clauses in their legal contract with consumers is that they use a depreciation schedule on almost all appliances and such, although there is very little detail if any provided on this particular clause. The end result is that they have their heels dug in and are simply nasty business people and impossible to deal with if they think that they may have to write a client a check. I've checked with five other warranty companies about my issue, and once I utter the words "AFC", they all replied with the same statement, and it's; "Say no more"!! One company even referred to AFC as, and I quote, the 'rattlesnakes of the Home Warranty business". Like I said in the heading; Don't even consider these folks -- Don't walk away - Run from these folks.

The claims person took all my information down - asking why I was calling before she answered my question. I explained that the dishwasher was acting funny - with delays in turning on. The 'service rep' says it is not covered because it hasn't been 30 days. I call back on 2/25 and explain that the contract reads the sale date as 2/25 - which would put 2/24 as 31 days - and if this looks like a bait and switch and I want to cancel the contract if this is how they operate.

Vernice says someone will call me back to assist. Norman calls me back on 2/27 to say that I'm not covered for the dishwasher - because it was already not working on 2/24. I ask again to cancel the contract. If I wasn't covered on 2/24 - then I canceled my contract prior to being covered - which means you owe me the refund of the down payment of $250 I put on the contract. Your customer service and Facebook responses have always LOOKED to the general public like they would assist - but no one calls or returns emails.

I was shopping for a better deal because I had a problem with American Home Shield which we had earlier. I found America's First Choice Home Club and I went ahead and paid three years in advance. The vendors that they send out, at the end of the day, are the same. Whoever we use, the AFC guys found it out, so that’s been fine. We had a washing machine which broke down and it was an older version. They offered me $150 which was nothing in comparison to me buying a new one but I accepted it. It’s been a month now and I haven’t received that amount although I called them a couple of times.

I was traveling for two weeks out of the country and I thought maybe the check will be in the mail by then. When I came back, I didn’t find it and I called them. They said they had a glitch and have forwarded the check, and that was last week. Now they tell me it’ll be dispatched on the 8th of September. These AFC guys lack customer service and I had to send reminders to them via email. I'm in the service industry and personalized service, for me, is very important. I’m not too happy with our experience with AFC Home Club.

But they have their own homes and I was paying so much for warranties for my washer and dryer, refrigerator, and stove. So, I decided it was better to have my warranties all in one, which was much cheaper than my paying for all these separate warranties, so I got a warranty from AFC Home Club. I was looking up another home warranty service provider when I saw AFC. AFC had better reviews and I picked them instead.

When my garbage disposal unit went out, I called AFC to submit a claim and the claims reps were very nice and friendly, and helpful. But they said that AFC doesn't send a technician out to install a garbage disposal unit, so my son-in-law put it in. Then the technicians came and they were very nice. They looked at the garbage disposal unit and within three days, it was all taken care of. That was my first experience in filing a claim with AFC and I was very pleased with the way everything was handled. I’m hoping that I wouldn’t need them, but it’s nice to know that they're there if something goes wrong. I've told a couple of my friends about them.

They usually need the serial number of the unit, then they tell us if they are going to send a technician or if there is a fair price on the unit to be paid because they can pay off that price if it's an old unit. Their representatives were also very courteous on the phone. They send licensed and insured technicians who do their work but they need a larger base of vendors and contractors working for them. AFC is very prompt on payments, too and they've sent me a check twice to replace my unit. Overall, AFC is very good for homeowners. They are more convenient and friendlier than American Home Shield. Also, they serve a wider stretch than another company that I used in the past. So I've been very satisfied with AFC.

I haven't been real happy with America's First Choice Home Club. The reason you get it is so when your major appliances go out, that you get more than a box for them. Most of the representatives themselves have been very nice. But when getting a policy like that, they should make it very clear that if an appliance is X number of years old, there's a maximum of what they will cover. I had my air conditioner go out. So I had had it replaced because there was one part that had gone out, but they couldn't guarantee that the rest of it wasn't and they wouldn't have to turn around and come back again. Finally, the decision was made to replace it. But I got a $300 something and that's all they would pay.

I know that I included my freezer, my refrigerator, my pool, and my spa when I took that policy out. When my freezer went out. I called it in and they sent somebody out. It cost me $60 for them to tell me that the thermostat or whatever they call it was out. So then they called me and said that my insurance wasn't going to cover it and it didn't get included on the policy.

Then the capacitor on my other air conditioner went out and needed it replaced. In order to do that, I had to send in this year's maintenance. I sent them a copy of that and a copy of the estimate for whatever it was going to cost to replace. I told them that I need it replaced now, but they said they won't be looking at it until the next day because nobody was there to do it. The guy told me how much it would cost and I decided to pay and deal with it. I then called them and they said that they were going to send the $138 for the air conditioner, but there's no more coverage for it if it goes out because it's maxed out. That's ridiculous.

Anytime I need them, I get this paltry little sham that doesn't do squat. I'm done as far as my claims on them, and I will look around and find another company. When I had to replace my one air conditioner, they said that the capacitor and something else wasn't covered. The repairmen said that it's always covered. But then they covered it on my second one. So it doesn't make sense. In that respect, I'm very unhappy with them. As far as the people themselves are concerned, nobody has ever been really rude to me or cut me off or not return their calls. The people themselves are fine.

The technician who came out was wonderful. The same with the one who does my heating and my air conditioning check-up every year. The quality of the work done was great. Decker Construction is just wonderful. They're very efficient and were on time. They get in, get out, and they put the booties on so they're not going to get the floor dirty. They told me there was really no reason to have a yearly maintenance on the air conditioning unless we're having an issue. There's really nothing to check and yet the insurance company requires it and if we haven't had it within the year, they won't cover anything. Granted, they probably are buried in the insurance policy somewhere if you can read the fine print. But that should be something that should be told right up front. They're deceptive in how they sound when you first sign up with them and then it doesn't fit what they actually do. I would not recommend AFC.

I have a rental property and a regular property where I’ve had American Home Shield for as long as I can remember. But they continued to raise their rates, so I looked for someplace a little bit cheaper that offered the same benefit. America's 1st Choice's ratings looked good and they were cost-effective. It was comparable to American Home Shield as far as the services that they offered. But with AHS, if you call, you get through and they call you back right away which is not the case with AFC. The average wait time to place the call and get through to them before they ever pick the phone is about 20 minutes and that's regardless of what it's for. But the people themselves have been fine once you get somebody on the line.

Also, the technicians have been great. I've used several of them when I had American Home Shield. I've used Blue Caribbean Pool and Sea Shell Pool and both of those and their quality of work were fine. But one time, I called for them and some people shortly identified themselves as coming from Georgia trying to collect $60. I told them that I had already paid my deductible and that they were responsible for the balance because the item that was in question should have been covered according to the contract but I never heard from them anymore.

Then, the last call that I had, I had both of my toilets in my bathroom not working. I told them that and the lady said they're not an emergency service. I said that I understand but there's gotta be some sense of urgency placed around that. But I never heard back from them and I ended up calling a plumber and take care of the situation myself. A guy called me to see if I still need the service but I canceled the call at that point because I wasn't gonna waste 20 minutes. I never felt that they were helping on those times and I never felt really comfortable with that. I don’t think they’re very service-oriented company. Therefore, I would not recommend them, nor would I be using their service again when my contract runs out.

I went with America's First Choice Home Club for two reasons. First, if you didn’t know anybody, they would find a contractor for you. The second was the copay that seemed more reasonable.I’ve had several claims with AFC. First was with my washing machine. The cap for the liquid detergent was clear and I didn't see it when I shut the lid. It caused the lid to be slightly bowed and I didn't realize that until the load was over with. The back bracket broke. I called AFC and they said they weren’t going to cover it because it was cosmetic. But that’s not cosmetic. It’s a digital washing machine. If the lid is not on properly then it won’t lock. If it doesn’t lock, the computer can’t turn on and you cannot set anything on it.

For over a year, I took the lid off and set it on the floor every time I needed to load the washing machine, after which I put the lid back on it. I got to the point where I was so frustrated and I called America’s First to complain about it. They compromised. They would not fix it under the $60 copay though. They sent a technician who said that it was going to be $400. AFC said that they would pay only a portion of it and not pay to have it fixed or replaced like the contract says.

My second experience was when I had a very crappy plumber who was helping me with my dishwasher and never came back. They had to hire another person to come and fix my dishwasher. The third was my daughter had a pipe that connected a water line that went from underneath the kitchen sink over to the dishwasher. While she was at the gym, the little clamp that holds the hose to the dishwasher came loose. It flooded her downstairs. So, I called Roto-Rooter who charged her $125 to come out as an after hour service call because it was 10:30. They also charged her $139 to assess the problem as well as $289 for parts and labor to replace the $10-clamp from Lowe’s.

When she filed the claim, AFC said that they weren’t going to be able to reimburse her. She had to send a letter of explanation with what time everything started and what everything was done. She ended up getting a supervisor on the line. The maximum that they would cover was the $125, not the $660 that she spent because they are a 9:00 to 5:00, Monday through Friday program and that they would not pay the after hours fee. The supervisor also said that the first 30 days, we don’t have any coverage. My daughter had the coverage for 32 days and according to their contract, there’s another maximum period. The contract says that between the 31st day and the 60th day, the maximum claim covered is $125. I never knew that.

Another concern of mine is that every one of my appliances is a Samsung, and apparently, they’re difficult to deal with especially if you live in the country. It’s difficult finding a technician that’s willing to work on a Samsung that’s not in the city so, I have to endure long periods of time waiting for something to be repaired.

I used to have a home warranty at my other house and my wife and I talked about it. It's a wonderful thing and it’s worth doing. One good repair pays the whole bill. The AFC salesman was very professional and I liked him a lot. The guy gave me a great deal, so I got them. The bearings on my washer were making a noise that sounded like a jet plane when it was on spin. AFC sent out this rinky-dink company and the guy didn't know what he was doing. I talked to three other people and they said I have to put the whole shaft in at once. I YouTubed it for the guy 'cause he didn't know how to do it. He took his time, but he got it done and the washer was quiet when he left. Three weeks later, it started making the little noise again and I knew it was done wrong.

The washer is six or seven years old, but it's a Maytag Bravo, and there's nothing wrong with it. I told the owner, an extremely nice guy, that I really want to get it fixed properly and he explained that the best he can do is give me $200 when I buy a washer and send him a copy of the receipt. I looked for brand new ones and it’s $500 and change. I kept the washer and asked when I’d get the 200 bucks. He told me not to worry and said he didn’t care if it's three or six months or a year. I got his personal number and he told me to call him when I’m ready. AFC got the problem fixed, but I told them the companies they use are horrible and to never send them out again. I'm very patient and they're nice guys but they didn't know what they were doing. AFC sent out another guy who was terrific, but they wouldn't pay it. All in all, service was good, not great.

It's been a little bit frustrating for some of the things I've had to claim with AFC. There was a bit of a misunderstanding between what was covered and what wasn’t for my hot water heater earlier this year. When I phoned up, I clarified with the agent what was covered and he told me one thing. Then the technician came out, did the estimate, and then went over it so that it got sent back to the claims department with AFC. They phoned me up and told me I wasn’t covered, which was contradictory to what they told me before. I told them to listen to the recording in the previous conversation and the rep got back to me and said I was misinformed.

They ended up giving me a $200 goodwill payment, which I have not yet received. I still used the technician they sent, but ultimately, it was a mis-sell, so I was out of pocket with more money than I expected. The technician was okay, but the install had a leaking valve, which then damaged my ceiling in the living room. The problem was he overstressed the pipework. I complained about it and the contractor themselves came out, replaced the valve and charged me more money for it because they were essentially saying it was like that when they found it, which it wasn’t, but I was in no position to argue. I just wanted it dealt with so it wasn't a great experience.

Generally, when things are installed properly, they're fine, but there may be a little bit of lack of concentration every now and then. Also, the technician they're using is fine when they turn up but impossibly difficult to get a hold of. If you make a claim over the weekend, somebody takes it down and it gets held off until Monday, which isn't terrific or helpful. I don't think I'll be renewing with AFC this year and I'll probably move to another warranty company.

I've never used insurance before but I was going to buy a home and wanted a warranty. The reviews for America's 1st Choice Home Club were great. There was another company with pretty great reviews too, but two things stood out about America's 1st Choice. The deductible for when somebody comes out was 10 to 20 bucks less than the other company. Plus, they covered something with roofing where the other company didn’t. It was so minimal but it was more of a true warranty. And when I called them a few times whenever I was interested in getting their products, the people have always been helpful in explaining the warranty coverage.

I've used America's 1st Choice Home Club once we got a plumber out to fix the issue so that was good. However, submitting a claim is still confusing to me. I just had an issue with a toilet leakage and I called them up. Whenever I call and talk to somebody, they are always real good about that and that was perfect. But they told me a plumber would give me a call in 24 to 48 hours and it was 48 hours exactly. I called them to report the toilet leak about 4:45 one afternoon and exactly 48 hours later, at 4:45 two days later, they called me back. Now, we just used up another day and I expected it to be a little faster. But at the end of the day, they called within their 48-hour timeframe and there's nothing else we could do.

The plumber that came out was good. He did his job and I'm fine with the quality of his work. However, he said there was saturation in the wall and it's a great amount so I thought I had to keep going. I was concerned with the amount of water that went into the wall and I know water leaks are different. He called out this company EcoDry and that company was here before he even left. It's great that he had the connection to this company that was going to remove the wall and dry it out, but I'm really questioning if they overdid what they should've done. I asked them for a breakdown to see what they were billing the insurance and they're very overpriced. EcoDry billed to the home insurance and it's still all being worked on right now.

Here I am, three weeks later and I'm still sitting without full use of that bathroom. My bathroom is still torn up and there's no vanity or mirror, so you can't even wash your hands. I don’t know if that referral that he made was necessary and it's more complicated than what it should have been. I almost wish that he would have just fixed the leak issue and that would have been that.

Being a member of this home club, I was looking through my pamphlet when all this happened and I'm actually eligible for a $25 gift card out to a restaurant. That’s a perk of being a member, however I didn't know how to do it. But I'm overall pleased with my purchase. I'd still recommend them but my hesitation would be that they may stretch out to 48 hours, so others have to be prepared.

I looked at three companies and AFC's ratings were the best. However, the one problem I have had is at the outset. It's probably my fault for not reading all of the details so I get impatient. But I wasn't really made aware of the fact that I needed to have a maintenance contract that's been in existence for two years before there would be any possible claims specifically for some of the major systems in the house like the HVAC. I specifically asked them about the furnace and it was the reason why I got the warranty in the first place because we actually had to replace at some point. It was a very big deal.

They only sent out a technician once and he was great. When I had a plumbing situation and when a section of the roof blew off, it’s kind of short notice type of stuff and I needed people to come right away but AFC couldn't send anybody out in time so I had to find them myself. So this type of setup is not really conducive to acts of nature.

I also had to reach out to customer service a couple of times to basically understand what would and wouldn't be covered in a particular situation and to confirm what I had been told by. Then sometimes there’s a little bit of communication mix-up in terms of someone will say one thing and then I’ll call back to confirm. And then the next person I get would say either that was not necessarily true or there were some changes.

My wife and I have multiple properties and we decided that it may be in our best interest to take up an additional warranty if they need a repair. I did a research and some comparison and I saw what America's 1st Choice was offering and it was compatible to what I wanted to spend. When I initially purchased the claim, I asked for the package that would provide me the most coverage. They told me that I had a high package, but I didn't have the package and that I could spend some additional money to get some more coverage. I was under the impression that I had a package that would pretty much cover everything, but maybe I misunderstood. A couple of times I have submitted claims, I would call and they would respond right away. But even with the description of the claim, they would automatically say it's not covered.

The other thing is that before anyone would come out, I try to find out how they would describe what the problems were so that it wouldn't be excluded and simply based off of my wordings but just based off of my description of what's going on, it's automatically excluded. I'm not a repairman but if I could treat it myself, I wouldn't hire them or spend any money. I definitely didn't appreciate that.

One time, we had a stove at a rental property that broke. We called in the claim and it took two or three hours to finally have a number of a repairman. The tech asked me to text him the tenant information which I did but three or four days later, she hadn't heard from them. I had to reach out to him and when he eventually went out, there was nothing he can do. He could fix it but the cost to fix it would be as much as it would cost to get a new stove. I get that and that's the decision that my wife and I realized that we may have to make. They would pay me $179 which would go towards the replacement cost of a new stove. It took so long to get someone to come out and service the stove which wasn't covered and they asked for a receipt as proof that we purchased a new stove. What difference does that make if they're only gonna give me $179?

Also, I didn't understand why I had to go through the process of sending the proof of purchase to get the money back for something that I paid for. I didn't appreciate the fact that I had to go through all of that but I gave them proof to get the $179 and it wasn't processed in a timely manner. It required additional calls from me and took a couple of weeks before that came in. I don't want to paint it like they weren't doing their job but I think it's the product. The customer service is okay and I thought they followed up. But I'm certainly not gonna allow this one experience to prevent me from trying the home warranty again but I'm not gonna purchase one from them. It's very disappointing.

The receptionist said that this not covered because the part is very inexpensive to purchase at Home Depot but I am not an electrician so now it will cost me over $100.00 to have a technician come out to repair my outlet. Boy was I stupid to take this plan. I'm not an electrician that is why I got this plan. I have to read the fine print clearer. I thought I read the reviews and picked the right plan. Next time I will read better. If I was or had a electrician I would not need this plan.

I’m really upset with America's 1st Choice Home Club. They’re screwing me over and I want my money back. I signed up for a three-year warranty because they kind of suckered me into buying three years of being in the AFC Home Club. They also gave a discount if I was a member for a longer period of time. After everything was situated, I filed a claim for some repair work for a heating unit. They were not willing to cover the full amount because I was still in some window or a 60 day realm. That was the first thing I had to deal with and I covered whatever cost that I had to get it repaired.

Then a month later, I had an A/C problem. We called and their tech came over. He said, "There seems to be a leak in your A/C. There's no Freon left." He said the AFC Home Club does not cover leak check. I called up AFC Home Club to find out what they cover. The lady on the phone said that they do not cover the leak test, but repair done thereafter is covered. There are certain elements and parts that they will not cover. I said, "Okay, that's fine. I'll go ahead and cop out the leak test." I paid $300 for a leak test and after that, the technician went back and told AFC Home Club that he did the following elements that are parts of the A/C unit that needs to be replaced. If not those, then the whole unit needs to be replaced.

After that, I have not heard from AFC Home Club. I've reached out to them a few times and it was very hard. There's one person in particular that I've been trying to reach out to because she's the one that is the decision maker. I even explained to her that one of the ladies on the phone, who she knows, said that all these things will be covered. She came back and they're just making excuses after excuses about not covering the repair work. Right now, I already spent around $5,600 and I had to get a new unit because AFC Home Club wasn't prepared to pay for any of it. The only thing they're willing to pay me for is 3 to 5 pounds of Freon and that's it.

They don't want to cover for anything else and that's not why I bought this home insurance. I bought it to help me pay for issues if I ever had any in my house. AFC Home Club is really pathetic. The last few months have been very difficult for me. I plan on making a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and even talking to an attorney in Atlanta to file a complaint against them. I think the company is a scam. They have not delivered what they promised. My insurance coverage only started early this year. If they're not going to give me my money back, then I will surely go after them for the amount owed for punitive damages.

I was worried about the appliances and things in my house. The cost to repair them is expensive. AFC Home Club was rated one of the best and I got them. When I submit claims, it's been fine overall. When I had a problem with my water heater that was 11 years old, I dealt with Ashley who was very good. She followed up and emailed me information.

The way it works with AFC was I paid the $60 service call which was like my pocket expense and they had sent a guy who looked at it. He told me it would be $2,000 for a new heater to install, which was ridiculous because a brand new one that was top of the line was like $900. He told me it's $1,000 to install. I told the guy to forget it and that I was not doing the work. AFC refunded me the $60 'cause they sent this guy and they said they're not gonna use him again 'cause he was a bad guy. AFC doesn't want someone to get ripped off so that was good.

Another thing was because the hot water heater was so old, they didn't do a warranty or replaced that one so they gave me $150 for a new one instead. I should have read more details about what the replacement is. I read all about the fixing of it, but I didn't realize that if they had to replace it, they wouldn't cover the full cost. I purchased the hot water heater on my own and I sent AFC a copy of the receipt showing the purchase. The lady said that it could take up six weeks to get a check, but it took me about three weeks. They processed everything very quickly. Dealing with the people was good. The only bad thing was when you call on the weekends, it's hard to get somebody. I have to leave a message and tell them they have to call me back.

Their prices were good and affordable especially with the 15% discount I was given. I also like that their call out was $60. Also, the reps had been very friendly, too.

My biggest thing was that we bought it so that it would be active at closing and the new owner wouldn't have to have the 30 days. I asked three times if the warranty's transferable and the people from AFC said, "Yes." Then when I went to transfer it over to the new owner, they said that there's going to be a $50 charge transfer fee, and they never told me about that. The lady said that it's in the contract and sure enough, I found it in there. That was the only thing that I was not pleased with as I would've liked to have been told, "Yes. It's transferable but it costs $50 to do so." Other than that, the overall experience was easy and I would definitely recommend AFC. And in fact, we bought a house and bought the home warranty from them for the new house, as well.

Thank you for letting us know the technician was helpful and your service was in a timely manner. AFC Home Club is in place for items which have failed after the membership was purchased, not prior or during the waiting period. We cannot cover an item which failed previous to the membership being instated. These items had occurred prior, therefore, there is a maximum limit set forth for brand new members in the first active 30 days in these cases. Submitting a claim with them was seamless and the claims representatives were very knowledgeable and professional. I had very good interactions with them. As for the technicians, it hasn't been a positive experience with them. The first technician who came demanded to be paid before he performed the service and he was very rude to the claims adjuster or the claims department.

The second technician who came, for a toilet repair and when I needed to get my rebuild done, said he could get my toilet replaced, but then he would tell the insurance company that he would file a claim for a rebuild. I didn’t get a good sense from him and he was literally admitting to committing fraud. I don't think America's 1st Choice has a good vetting process when it comes to their technicians and vendors. But this is only the first year that I've had this contract and I’m sure that if I have other issues, I’ll have positive interactions with the technicians. And the home warranty company was responsive to my concerns and needs. I like the fact that they put their clients first. So overall, I've had a positive experience with America's 1st Choice.

I had been with another company prior to AFC Home Club. I decided to do something different and heard about AFC Home Club thru a friend. I had some washer and dryer issues and one of the appliances was replaced. Submitting a claim took a lot of return calls though. They logged in each time I called since there was a different person on the line.

When I had an issue with my heat pump, AFC was wanting maintenance records. I've had the heat pump for about 19 years and it never gave me any problem. I've never had to have a lot of maintenance done on it as it worked fine. I had it checked but never had any repairs. AFC ended up prorating what they would reimburse me which was about $250. A supervisor called and told me it's because of the age of the unit. Two people they picked who I had look at it both concurred that it was an older unit.

I did a two-year plan when I joined and paid all the premiums upfront. I paid about $1400 for 2 years. I was really disappointed that I was only given $250 towards my heat pump replacement. They’re very expensive and that didn't help offset the cost of a new heat pump. If it had been a refrigerator or a dishwasher, it wouldn't have mattered. I'm holding on to a thread before my unit finally does stop working altogether. I was able to have it kind of patched up. I hope to save enough money to replace it. And once I do, I won't need a home warranty because that's my major appliance there. All my other ones are basically new appliances.

I bought a three-year Gold contract with these people. I never needed any repairs throughout those three years and when my contract was about to end a salesperson called me and asked if I wanted to renew it for another three years. I said sure. After I had been a customer with them for almost five years I called them for the very first time when I was having a plumbing problem. I was getting a leak coming from the ceiling of one of our lower floors through an indoor pipe and we couldn't figure out where or what pipe the leak was coming from. I called America's 1st Choice and they told me I should look around my home area to find a local plumber. I asked why they weren't doing it, because I thought that was their job. Weren't they the ones who were supposed to send someone who participated with AFC? I thought all I had to pay was $60.00 for the plumber to inspect what was wrong and they would pay to repair it.

They told me I had to pay the full amount after the repair was done and then they would decide if and how much they would reimburse me when the work was done. I asked if they would reimburse me if the plumber wasn't a member of the warranty company and they told me no. I told them to look for someone themselves and send that person to me. They sent me someone who came and looked through a hole with a cover which we made in our ceiling, because we had plumbing issues before and it would be a bit easier to see the pipes and not have to break a wall each time we needed a plumber. A guy came, looked through the hole, couldn't see anything and left five minutes later. I called AFC and told them to send someone else. I refused to pay the $60.00. This first guy came and they told me they would not charge me for that visit.

Then they sent me an electrician who did plumbing on the side. This moron told me that it was coming from a standing shower in my upstairs bathroom and he thought the leak was due to the cracked grout we had on the floor of the shower and that the leak wasn't actually coming through a pipe. I called them and told them what this guy said, and they refused to pay for anything. They said that wasn't covered. We then sent a real plumber ourselves, but they said they didn't participate with AFC because they knew they didn't trust them and knew they wouldn't pay them. They would only take our money to get the work done. These guys found where the leak was coming from and got the job done correctly, only it cost us over $1,500.00 to get it done. AFC wouldn't reimburse us a dime.

A few months later we got another leak from inside the wall close to the floor by a sink. My husband broke the wall where the leak was coming from and saw two pipes were disconnected. Only this time it looked like it was due to corrosion. I called AFC and they told me again they wouldn't pay for it, because corrosion wasn't covered, so I called the last people we had and they fixed the job, only this time it cost us over $1,800.00. I had used other warranty companies before and had plumbing issues in the past. All of those other warranty companies paid for our plumbing problems. This is the only warranty company that did not give us anything. Once this contract ends, I will never use these people again.

AFC spent 14 man hours and 30 days attempting to help this member with their plumbing leak, We sent out 3 technicians and each found something different in the home, these findings were all failures, but never seemed to be the exact problem. This member ended up getting an HVAC technician to the home and the AC was leaking causing the issue. This is well beyond AFC's control, the homeowner called in a plumbing issue. Although, she did have multiple issues within the home's plumbing, a plumber does not automatically think to look at an AC unit, just as the plumbers she called did not review her AC. We are truly sorry the experience was stressful but homes can sometimes be hard to diagnose.

Be very careful before getting this coverage... not what you will expect when putting in a claim. I saw this at the start of my review and completely agree... this is my personal experience forward.

Was lied to about what was covered, and how long the wait was, and when I checked into cashing out was told to wait and see at least if a partial amount could be covered on a plumbing issue and then if not, I could still cash out. When the damage was actually far worse than expected was informed that since it was over a course of time it was not covered. I opted to cash out and was guaranteed the full amount and that the 75.00 customary amount kept back would not be applied. The refund is 199.00 short. I paid 495.00 and was refunded only $296.25. Horrible experience with first claim. Our real estate agent purchased a home warranty with AFC for us as housewarming gift. Our warranty was in place for 6 weeks when we moved into our home and had an HVAC tech come out to service our unit. The A/C was fully functioning the day prior to the service call and up until this day. The tech informed us the unit had just died and asked if we had a home warranty policy as this would be covered under such a policy. We called AFC and after the tech answered a few questions, the customer service representative put me on hold for a while.

She then came back and told me the claim was denied because "This is a long-term failure." I explained that we had just moved in and the unit had been functioning and this was the maintenance call that resulted in learning the system failed. I just called again to appeal the decision and request partial reimbursement for a $6000 unit and was told "there will be no full nor partial reimbursement because there was no record of preventative maintenance prior to filing a claim." The policy essentially says they can deny any claim for any reason with no recourse. In other words, it is a useless policy. I'm just glad we didn't pay for the policy that doesn't cover anything.

Went with a new home warranty company, one that offered warranty for PLUMBING, HEAT and AC ONLY, as my old warranty was expiring 4/1/17. Read reviews, seemed rather positive, gave them a call. Lots of emails, lots of phone calls, pushing their services. Finally signed up, had to wait one month to start service, signed up 3/7/17. Started service, advised via contract had to get an inspection of HVAC, etc., as proof items worked, if I ever had an issues during my year of service. OK, so, switching from previous company to new company, OK, I get it. So, I paid for a s/c for my HVAC. Advised by specific company I CALLED that HVAC needed to be replaced, they wouldn't even update it, or even "limp" it along, needed replacement, given paperwork as proof, and I PAID FOR THE APPOINTMENT.

Well, I contact AFC, told, "We're going to send the EXACT company back to your house, you have to pay them AGAIN, and we'll only pay to "limp" your HVAC unit, not replace". Excuse me? I cancelled my service. I PAID FULL PRICE for a new HVAC system. I had to pay a penalty to cancel, because you have to wait 30 days for service to start ($75), you lose even more money, because they work their magic on your "refund", and I wasn't happy that I had to follow-up with them as to where my refund was, at almost six weeks! They took my money fast enough. I can NEVER recommend this company, and anyone is welcome to contact me for all my proof, as well as names of who I spoke to, etc. I now have a 10-year warranty with the company that installed my new HVAC equipment, my bills have dropped 50-55% each month, and I will never sign up for a home warranty again. Everyone warned me, and I didn't listen... totally my error.

We are sorry to hear this member was unhappy, but her failure was a pre-existing issue which occurred before she was a member with AFC. This member sent over paperwork to show the long-term failure of this unit along with the poor condition. AFC cannot be expected to fix a unit which was already deemed to be failing before their plan is active. This would be like purchasing car insurance to cover a wreck that already took place. We are not here to fix items that are already failing prior to purchase. Her refund has been processed back to the form of payment she used, thank you for your time.

This is a huge rip off! Made my first claim and it was denied...nothing. Not paying for anything. Because the technician put on the report for the hot water heater "massive corrosion" they now will not cover my hot water heater. They said I did not do the annual maintenance on the hot water heater... Well it's 13 years old and I've only lived there for 6 years...home was built in 2004 so it's the original hot water heater. The corrosion he was referring to was on the top of the tank on the hot water heater.

This company is just a huge ripoff. They have so many loopholes out of paying for anything you might need repaired that the only time it will work for them to reimburse you is if it's a new item that has just gone bad. Otherwise you're not getting a dime from them. Save your money and repair things on your own. You will be far better ahead than dealing with America's 1st Choice Home Club. This type of company should be barred from doing business. All they are doing is pocketing people's money and doing nothing in return. HUGE RIP OFF. I was tired of AHS raising my rates and my copays, so I jumped ship to AFC in February. BAD mistake. They left two items that I paid extra for off my contract and refuse to send me paperwork to correct it. Then my dishwasher stopped working and I submitted a claim June 1. They tried to claim it was under factory recall (a 10 year old Maytag? Really?), then after keeping me on hold for more than an hour, admitted that it wasn't under recall. Once they received the repairman's estimate ($260), they are only willing to pay a $100 "goodwill payment" to "either repair or replace" (new Maytags cost $500-$600).

When I asked how they expect to stay in business by refusing to follow their own contract, I was told that their function is to ASSIST in repairs, not pay for the repairs completely. Why did I just spend $800 for a year's contract if all I wanted was partial "assistance" instead of my claims covered? I can't wait until my contract runs out with them and pray nothing big breaks down in the meanwhile - they obviously have zero intent of paying for repairs OR replacement cost, as they advertise. I told them I am horrified and disappointed in their company and I will be spreading the word that they do not do what they are contracted to do. Shockingly unprofessional. 14 days and still trying to get my first repair.

I had two very recent claim submissions to AFC, neither were satisfactory. We are Gold coverage type and had a three year contract that expires on 6/25/2017. The first claim was for a garbage disposal that stopped working. This should have been covered under Section (H) of the Gold Coverage, which includes all components but excludes problems caused by bones, glass, or foreign objects - none of which caused this failure. Customer rep. for AFC stated that the "new policy for disposals was to cover only $90 of the expense" and we were liable for the installation, (i.e. the $60 fee for service was not applicable). This is supposed to be shown in Section (F) of the Limitations of Liability, "DCI is the claims administrator" and has "sole right" to determine if coverage is made.

Anyway we purchased a new garbage disposal for $100.67, submitted the bill on 4/28/17 expecting reimbursement in 1-2 weeks as stated by the customer service rep on 4/28/17. We paid $100 to have it installed (I am 75 years old and cannot bend and crawl into sink areas to install). By 5/23/17 no check was received, called AFC, told it was to be mailed at the end of the month. After 4 more calls check was received on 6/5/17, 43 days later.

Second claim. While dealing with 1st claim, our dishwasher stopped working. Notified AFC on 5/13/17 the day it stopped working (a Saturday). Was told by CSR that I would be contacted on Monday by a service repair company to set up and appointment. By 3:00 pm on 5/15 had received no call so called AFC back and had to re-state all the details (model #, serial #, make). Was told that I would received a call from service repair within 48 hours to schedule repair. I called them several times from 5/18 to 5/25, finally I CSR told me they could not get anyone to come to our area due to its remoteness. We live in a highly populated area with 9 different appliance repair business within a 10 mile radius. I was told that I could make my own arrangements for repair just let AFC know. Also instructed that we would have to assume the cost of any diagnostic and service fees.

I found out that the real reason no one would come was the $60 service fee was too little and no one would agree to it. Also whomever I got would have to contact AFC for repair fee approval prior the repair taking place. I was able to get a repair diagnostic call schedule for $104.95 on 5/31/17. The part had to be ordered. The serviceman Mark called AFC and got approval for $147.57 on 6/5/17 to happened on Tuesday 6/6/17. Repair was made for $140.22 less than the $147.57. I sent all the paperwork (2 invoices - 1 for the diagnostic service call and the other for the repair of $140.22) on 6/6/17. I understand that it may take up to 3 weeks for the reimbursement check to be mailed. Our contract with AFC terminates on 6/25/17. The question is - will the check arrive before the contact is terminated?

I did so, yet they refused to cover the repair (it required a new cartridge, whatever that is in a faucet). Further, when I complained they said they were not a "home warranty" company but instead a club. I read further into my contract (my name misspelt and the service address for two properties listed the same on both contracts) and they want $75 for the privilege of canceling them for their misrepresentations. I was also never informed that air conditioner servicing mandates yearly maintenance before they will touch the equipment, and anything found by the servicing company is NOT COVERED by them. I was also never informed that any air conditioner more than 12 years old is TOO OLD AND WILL NOT BE FIXED. Nowhere is any of this explicitly stated in the contract, other than one vague sentence about prorating for depreciation. IF YOU HAVE OLDER EQUIPMENT, THIS COMPANY IS AN ABSOLUTE RIPOFF.

Thank you for the opportunity to resolve any questions this member may have. It seems this member has an unfortunate misunderstanding of her membership, as nothing is ever too old to cover please see below.

If the repair outweighs the value of the unit we will give the homeowner the comparable value of the unit to get a brand new one. If the failure is not catastrophic and does not outweigh the units value we will cover the repair fully which is what we have done for this member. If the homeowner is having their standard annual tune up on their HVAC system and they find an issue we will ask for the previous years annual tune up. If the member cannot provide this or the name of the company who performed this, then tune up findings would be their responsibility The manufacturer and EPA state annual tune-ups aka preventative maintenance should be completed on HVAC system. This will not keep them from failing, which is what she has AFC for but it will keep her bills low and energy efficiency high. Just like you have to take care of your car the HVAC is the heart of the home and must be maintained. There are absolutely no age limitations on equipment but if the unit has exceeded its useful years and a catastrophic failure does occur we will then give the comparable value as stated above. Thank you for your time and attention in clearing up this matter.

DO NOT USE AFC. It's been over 48 hours since I first called in a service request for a broken freezer and refrigerator. I've followed up with them 6 times since then. I was hung up on twice while trying to explain my situation. The other 4 times I'm being told that they are "trying to track down a technician". In a city of 1M people, finding someone to fix my fridge isn't hard. When I called the sales line who opened my account, they informed me that the service department should've told me that I can find my own technician and get reimbursed for their work. Five minutes later I scheduled service with a local technician, who said that they will reach out to AFC to get reimbursed. What a JOKE.

I always heard that home warranties are a scam, and I'm starting to believe it. It's a good thing that the seller of this house paid for 1 year for me, because I'm definitely not paying for another year. If you have low to mid-end appliances, there is NO POINT in getting a home warranty. You're better off saving $500 a year, and applying it toward maintenance and future replacement. DO NOT USE AFC, or any other home warranty unless you have nice appliances.

Critical things that the homeowner needs to be aware of are either not mentioned or not emphasized. AFC requires that your HVAC system is kept under maintenance otherwise they will refuse to fulfill your service request. Fortunately, I just happened to be in a situation where my HVAC system did recently undergo maintenance. I can't imagine that many folks would do so and still maintain an expensive home warranty service but that was my scenario. Amazingly, when I called in a service request for my unresponsive HVAC system AFC claimed that my maintenance did not meet their expectations.

It was only after I threatened to escalate the matter legally that they moved on to presenting me with yet another obstacle from their playbook. For instance, the next thing I learned (as many others here have testified to) is that you really do not have any substantial coverage until 2 months after you sign the contract. I had to pay for the majority of my service request because it fell within the 60 period. To add to this insult, they sent out a technician who was a crook. He gouged me by marking up the price for parts by over 400%. When I confronted the technician he was shocked that I was able to find out his real costs and decided that he would not be upfront about any more transactions. After I had paid him about $300 I still had to find another technician to finish the job paying even more money. I contacted AFC about this and they promised they would look into it but did not. They really are the worst!

Even though I was 100% certain that I met the criteria for AFC's arbitrary maintenance requirement I still think it is thoroughly disingenuous of AFC to not point out this potential deal-breaker up-front while collecting a year's payment for a home warranty service that is markedly different from others on the market. You collect someone's money based upon a lengthy conversation that is meant to give the gist of the home warranty offering but you conveniently leave out something this important in the conversation then you mail me a packet which for the first time introduces me to the concept of a maintenance requirement but employs vague wording which allows the company to decide if they like my brand of maintenance or not. Lucky for me that I am somewhat of a records keeper otherwise I would be completely cheated.

Personally, I never want to be in a situation where I have to worry whether my technician's maintenance activities meets a standard based on the interpretation of someone who is incentivized to find a non-compliant situation. That to me is not the ideal home warranty service. That is why I'm infuriated and disgusted with this experience already.

In short, it is crooked to take someone's money and then play silly games wasting everyone's time. The right thing to do is to honor your agreement since I have met the criteria and not putting me in a situation where I am tracking down the person who performed maintenance on my unit to ask him if furnish more documents beyond the invoice. Nevertheless, when my year is complete, I have no intention of staying with such a shady company. You would be wise to research all of these items prior to enrolling with AFC.

I purchased a home warranty with AFC in December after being with American Home Shield for several years. I now know that this was a huge mistake. AFC never sent us any kind of contract info, coverage info, how to make claims, anything. A few weeks ago the condenser unit of our AC started having problems. After searching all over for a number, and then being transferred multiple times, I was told that I called sales instead of service. I was not transferred at that point but given a different number to call. I called the second number, and after sitting on hold for quite some time, I was finally able to talk to a representative and made the claim. She asked if we had "regular maintenance" on the unit, and I answered yes, as we change the filter monthly and spray off the outside unit and keep it free of leaves and any other debris. She said that we should've had a professional company do an annual check.

I told her I'd never heard of that. She sent someone out anyway, and I thought nothing else of it. The AC repairman found a pretty severe leak, which he has said WAS NOT CAUSED by lack of maintenance. AFC, however, is now refusing to pay for our repairs due to "lack of annual maintenance." This is absolutely ridiculous. Had I known that this was a requirement, we would not have switched to this company. I have filed a complaint with the Texas AG's office, and will be switching back to American Home Shield as soon as possible. Horrible, horrible service.

The guy from Mr. Appliance was a great guy and I liked him. The guy from Mister Sparky was totally a hard-sell intimidating guy and I did not care for him at all. AFC told the guy that the part was covered so he ordered it but then within five minutes of him leaving, they said it's not covered. It was only gonna be $150 for it to be fixed and it was really cheap.

The second one was my light in the hallway would be been dim and would come back. We've been in the house for 3 months so it was not something that was going on at the beginning. I called and they scheduled an electrician out who wanted it to be a $10,000 deal. I don't know whether AFC shouldn't have to pay for what the guy was suggesting, but they said most of the problems were pre-existing.

I talked to my realtor about it and she told me that's absolutely ridiculous. She has never known a company to respond like that. So, I don't even know how to complain or where to complain to get it out there. But I would certainly tell people, "Don't go with this company." I don't think they're on the up-and-up. I found them when I typed in home warranty companies with good reviews and I've seen now how foolish that was. It doesn't mean anything. Or I was confused about the name and chose the wrong one.

I am not normally the type who complains about stuff, but I absolutely went with the wrong company and I think that AFC is worthless. They are terrible and I have been very unhappy with them. They're a rip off and they do not cover what they say will cover. They're dishonest and their people don't even know the right hand from the left. I had a very bad experience with AFC, they are nothing but crooks & running a scam. While signing, they were really nice and completed form quote to selling in few hours. During signing process, even I asked, if they need anything like pictures, documents or want me to do anything, they told “No, we got you covered”. However, when I placed my first repair requests, they made all kind of excuses, asked annual inspection report and refused to cover cost. Their own repair guy told me that they do this all the time. I ended up of paying for repair. I was really unhappy for not telling me all the requirement upfront. I asked to cancel the service. They gave me all kinds of excuses to make it difficult and took three months to cancel and did not make complete return. I do not recommend these guys to anyone. Just be careful...

On the recent claim that I had, America's 1st Choice called me and told me that the part was in and the tech was supposed to come pick it up. The company called me and said they can give me a window, which was some time last week but I still haven't heard from them. I made a call yesterday to AFC and the young lady said that she was going to look into it and find out what happened and give me a call. And I haven't heard anything from that either.

And then usually, when something breaks down, I only have a $65 service fee but I haven't had anything that was just $65. I had a heat exchanger that they installed and fixed. I paid the $65 for the technician to come out and for them to install it, it cost me $140. And then when my oven went out, I called them and I had to end up buying a new oven myself and then they reimbursed me a portion of that. But it wasn't what I signed up for.

When I initially talked to the rep, he was polite but he didn't tell me everything. I didn't find about a certain coverage until after I got my paperwork. If I asked some questions, I should be told what they do or how they do it and that should be enough for me. I volunteered for the service, so there shouldn't be a small print. But then I get in a situation and I called, and then they asked me if I have read my contract so I don't appreciate that at all. I'm a little upset but I'm trying to give it a chance to work out.

I had a property that I have a tenant in for the first time ever so I got the AFC home warranty to insulate myself from getting daily calls from said tenant. When the tenant said that they had an issue with the toilet running, I told them to contact AFC. The plumber contacted the tenants but the tenant was not getting back to them. So I sent the tenant a text telling her to respond to the plumber or she has to cover the cost on her own. She then responded to the plumber and the plumber came in and fixed it. Our experience with AFC has been efficient and relatively trouble-free. However, when I called AFC first before calling the plumber, I was surprised that they had no one respond to anything on the weekend. I got a service that said they'll get back to me on Monday when they're in the office. They should have had somebody on call over the weekend.

My last claim with American 1st Choice wasn’t too bad but I could not say they’re the greatest to deal with. The first time, I had tried to make a claim and I wasn't allowed to since it had to be over 30 days. Then I did again later on during Christmas time. It was after that that I called, and they said, "Oh, that's within 60 days. So we can't do anything about it." That only made me more and more frustrated. Then our microwave died. I called in and we're paying extra per month to cover the microwave. The rep called back and said it's their bad, but it's not considered a built-in microwave because there isn't something around all four sides, only three sides. I said that was ridiculous. They gave me $100 so I could buy a new microwave and that's it.

This review has incorrect data. This member attempted to file a plumbing request during her 30 day review period, during this time anything that fails is your responsibility as the membership is not active. She attempted to wait until after the 30 days to file again and we advised her we could not service this unless she had the prior failure repaired. On her microwave, this is an "over the range unit" not a built in unit. It is not our responsibility to know exactly what the member has in their homes, we do our best to help service and ask lots of questions but AFC did not fail to service her and we gave a goodwill on a non-covered item.

Then, I looked at their plans online, spoke to a customer service representative and it was never explained to me that after I purchase my warranty, the warranty wouldn't go into effect for another 60 days after that purchase. I felt that I'm a little bit misled. Our refrigerator went out and we ended up having to spend money out of our own pockets to have it replaced.

Customer Service responded fairly fast, via email, considering I had a late Saturday afternoon call in for service. They phoned me early Monday morning and we went over the situation of my water heater not lighting. I got an igniter and also purchased a thermo-couple, to save the technician time on retrieving parts that would most likely be used.

I met a plumber on my trip for parts and asked for his card. I explained to AFC representative that I would like to use this company. The company did not accept payment from AFC, so it was agreed that I would pay and be reimbursed from AFC except for my "deductible/service call charge." As it turned out, it was just the igniter that needed to be replaced, an easy in & out situation. The technician showed up, just as I was lighting the unit. I gave him a NICE plant for his wife. So all in all, no service call was really necessary, but I had a heck of a time lighting this older unit. :(

This company controls the whole process with making any claims, keeps you out of the loop and finds any clause or way out of honoring your claim. We attempted to only make two claims (Keep in mind our home was built in the 60's) which within our first year of ownership isn't too bad. Needless to say nothing covered, nothing processed, paid out of pocket for minor repairs (both not exceeding $300).

When I advised the rep handling my account that I wanted to speak to a manager or supervisor I was denied. I advised them that I simply wanted answers before I took to leaving anyone's review online. She then said, "We don't respond well to threats" and ask me to never call again?? This after being covered by them never offering me a prorated refund??? I would never do business with them after that experience.

I am having a horrible experience with AFC Home Club. They have more exclusions than covered items, but they will not tell you about those exclusions when you are shopping for a policy. In my case, I was directly communicating with AFC Home Club sales team and not one of their reps told me that they require annual maintenance on HVAC units. Nor will you find that anywhere on their website. They did not mail the actual contract to me until 2.5 months after I purchase the contract, so I could not even read all the fine print during the so called "30 day money back guarantee review period".

I have filed total 3 claims with AFC Home Club during the 6 months I've been "covered". Out of three they only paid in full 1 claim (the issue turned out to be very simple). They made me pay half of the repair costs (in addition to the service fee) on the second claim. They are flat out refusing to pay anything on the third claim which is a malfunctioning heat pump, using the pretext that malfunction was discovered during annual maintenance and we cannot provide them records of previous maintenance within 12 months prior (because we only purchased the house a little over a year prior and had a home warranty company for that first year that did not require HVAC maintenance and the home inspection had not found any issues). Beware of this company and make sure you demand the detailed explanation of coverage before you make your decision. Otherwise they will prey on you as they are preying on me.

I bought a new house and saw online that AFC’s price was compatible, but their services were very bad. I was so frustrated and about to call to cancel my warranty. I have three years of warranty but they were reluctant to repair things. They were making a lot of excuses like their system was down or they didn't see the email.

The problem was with my stove. The coil and glass were broken. They then have sent some external company to me. Those people were not tracking the issue with them correctly and nobody was following it up. I was calling them back and forth. I submitted the quotation and then, they didn't repair the problem. They said that the coil will be replaced but not the glass and that their contract states, “If an external damage happened, then we don't take care of it.” I said if it was just external without having coil damage, then they could say that. But because the coil and the glass had been broken too, then it is dependent on this warranty. So, I had a little argument and they didn't understand the problem. They were just looking at the restrictions in their contract.

It took four months to get my money from them. I asked them, "If you're thinking that you are not repairing the glass and repairing the glass will cost me another $400. And then how much will you pay for the coil?" They replied, "$230." Then I asked if they could reimburse me that because I can buy the new burner myself. So, I contributed $400 from my pocket and $230 from their pocket, but then I bought the burner. I resolved the issue this way.

It was so much hassle to get $230 reimbursed toward my real damage. It wasn’t a fake damage and they were reluctant to repair it regardless of the issue. My major concern’s that the house I bought is a renovated one. The heating and cooling system were installed a couple of years ago but the maintenance might renew it. That's why I bought the insurance. The house is perfectly all up and running good. Its machinery part was fixed in 2014 and I was trying to make sure everything is insured. But I'm doubtful now how they will handle the the bigger part if the burner took repairing that long and they're so reluctant to fix it.

Additionally, their strategy was making the administrative process bad in a way that people would be feeling hard to not to call them anymore. The selling part was from different area and not in their office. The selling was very comfortably done but the repair section was very bad. The officer who was making the decision about the repairing never picks up the call. And the person that receives the call is someone who doesn't have any knowledge about the ticketing system. They're very apprentice type of people. They're just having business but not fitting for providing services.

I will never recommend anybody to go with this company especially since one of the house appliances insurance company I had in my last apartment was a great one. Whenever I called, they came and fixed the problem. They understood. This time, I paid all three years price ahead of time. I paid about more than a thousand dollars and I didn't even use my money. And now, I was just looking for a $200 fix and they were so reluctant to fix it so I am really frustrated about this company.

I have an older home and I said I'd better start looking into getting a home warranty because it was getting expensive having to fix repairs. I called Sears first and had a very bad experience with them. I canceled them within 30 days and decided to find a company that's gonna offer me a competitive rate and give me what I want. So, I did some research on the internet and found out about AFC Home Club. We looked at reviews and information online and they were the top five. I started doing comparative analysis based on the top three. I called a couple of them and got quotes. I like the fact that AFC was fair and mid-range in terms of price but they offered more repairs than others. They also included the whole house. I said that's pretty good and I can save money that way.

I submitted a claim when I noticed that my microwave was starting to have problems and it stopped working. I called on a weekend and they said that they were going to report it to have someone call me on a Monday. They did call me on Monday and said that they would have someone come and look at my microwave within a couple of days. We started having some scheduling issues in terms of having them come. It took a couple of days from my initial call to get the repair person to call me back. He said he was gonna come and repair the microwave. He showed up in a Mercedes and said that there was gonna be a deposit, which I understood, and that he's gonna need to order a part for this microwave.

I asked for an estimate of the cost and he said it's gonna be between $250 to $275. I said that was not a problem because it’s covered. He then left. Then, I got a call from the company and they said it was gonna cost more because I was then in my first 60 days. The first 30 days, I understood I'm not gonna get any coverage but they have an additional one that they said I have to comply with, which means I have to pay $150 in addition to the $60. I got really upset about that. I said “Nobody told me.” He said it's in my policy. Also, the cost that the guy was giving me was more than my microwave.

The first person I spoke to was rude and said that's the way it was. I would have waited or would have figured something out. So I called back and told them I was very upset and that I don't want the repairman to come because that was gonna cost me so much. The lady said I can decline it and then call them back after the 30 days. But she doesn't understand that he's got my money and he's not gonna return it. I said I wanted to speak to a manager so, she put me on hold. Then she said that the manager was not available and they'll have her call me but she never did. I went and called back the third time and I spoke to someone. The lady asked what I wanted to do and I said I have to have the guy come and that I have to pay the $150. I felt like I was trapped.

The guy showed up this time in a work truck. I have had people come and repair my appliances and they're with their uniform but this guy looked like he was just walking off the street. I thought that’s unprofessional. Anyway, he came in, spent about an hour and a half and fixed my microwave. I wrote him a check for $150 and he went along his way.

From the time that I initially called till the guy came in and fixed it, it took about two. I liked the customer service initially. They're very helpful and good to me when I signed up. But I didn't like the call leading up to the repair. There were one or two calls I felt were rude. It was my first time and thought that it could be a fluke and the next time will be good. But that burnt me a little bit when that happened. Also, no one ever called me back to follow-up on what had happened and it would be nice if they know about it.

I had a home warranty with another company, and when it was up for renewal, I switched to AFC Home Club for their price and what they offered. Claim submission is easier to call in as their dot com side of it is not very robust. I called in for my claim for an air conditioning unit, and then the contractor came within a couple of days. It turned out that the air conditioning compressor was bad. But when I signed up for this warranty company, I had a different warranty company, and they basically said when I signed up, that I could have no claims for 30 days.

So in December, I let my two companies stay at the same time. So at least if I had a claim in December, I could still use my old warranty company, because I had to wait 30 days to be able to use AFC Home. But then, the small print showed that I really have to wait 60 days. Plus, there's a $150 limit on anything within the first 60 days. If I knew that upfront, I would have signed up 60 days earlier as opposed to 30 days. Because I had to wait 60 days, the maximum claim I could have was $150. And when I had the air conditioning repaired, it was going to cost $3,000.

I found that they weren't very upfront. Their whole contract is all written for them to get out of paying. The techs weren't the most professional ones to come out, but they were okay. If I was going to get covered in the insurance policy, I would have stayed with that technician. But as soon as they told me that they weren't going to cover, I basically told them I'm not going to give them the business to tell me that I'm not going to be covered. Then I went out and found someone else.

AFC is here to cover unforeseen mechanical breakdowns. We have a 30 day review period in which the member received all their club benefits along with the membership guidelines. This members unit failed less than 4 days into trial membership with us. The coils were rotted and the entire unit needed to be replaced. Rotting of coils takes longer than 4 days to occur therefore this is something that was going on well before his activation with us. Instead we gave the maximum goodwill available since this was truly going on before Mr. Asimus was a member with us.

Once you are an active member all normal limits apply. Hopefully, this cleared up any confusion that may have been going on, this member is now a full and active member has been for some time now and full limits do apply, thank you for your time.

AFC Home Club's contract is written one way and they do honor what they write. But, I have to be a lawyer to understand its content because there are exclusions and exclusions are what kill you. If I don't understand that or read up on it, then they'll deny the claim. But submitting a claim is simple. I call the 800 number and tell them what's wrong. A lot of times they'll want to know the model number or the serial number of the appliance failing. It would take about 48 hours to get any results as far as getting a vendor to come. A complaint I have is the weekend. If something happens after working hours on Friday, I could call in but it's an answering service. They'll take my information down and they'll get back to me on Monday. I have to wait 60 hours before they even start processing the claim.

The other complaint I have is when I did get my claim processed, the service provider that was going look at my appliance did not get the email from AFC. Without the email or fax, there is no service provider. They're not even going to talk to me unless I pay for it upfront and then I try to get my money from them, which I don't want to be a bank. Then when I call back, they have to ask me to rewrite the whole thing to send in their system, but getting that document sent to the third party service provider, they have to fill out a new one every time. Finally, I told AFC to send it to me so I could send it to the service provider because they weren't getting the e-mail. Now I have control with the communication versus relying on somebody. Other than that, the technicians they sent were all great! They're the same people that always come.

AFC Home Club was recommended to us. It was one of the companies that had good reviews when I bought our house in October. However, I don't have good things to say about them. We had a big problem with the pipes in our house. As soon as we moved in, there were cracks along the pipe in the bathroom, so we had to rip off the walls. I sent emails with pictures and so far, that’s the only claim we've had to make with AFC. They sent a tech to check out the problem, and he said, "Oh, yeah. We gotta go into the wall." I paid him $60, but he never came back. So, I called AFC and told them, "I can't get a hold of the guy that you've hired to send out." They got a hold of the tech, but finally they said that he won't come or can't do it and they just left it at that. So I'm out the $60 I paid for the tech to inspect the problem. It was frustrating.

But I still had to fix the plumbing problem because I couldn't use the bathroom. So, I called AFC and asked them if they would cover the cost if I have the pipes repaired. It would have been nice to know exactly what they would cover and what they wouldn't. But it's not like they would give me a straight answer. They just said, "Well, you can send us the bill, and then we can look at the receipt and see what we'll cover." I'm like, "Well, that's helpful." So, I just went ahead and hoped that they would cover something.

The bill ended up being about $6,000. First, they were going to deny it completely and not send me any money. They said, "That's a home insurance policy claim." I said, "I still had to repair all the pipes. Listen, you guys gotta do something. At least, live up to some part of your word." So, in the end, they sent me an email that said, "We'll send $250." I'm like, "Okay, fine." At least, they'll send me $250, which will pay for 148th of the repair cost. I didn't want to get into an argument anymore and I didn't feel like digging in any further or making an ordeal about it. It was not a fun experience.

I wish that they would have lived up to their end. When I'm reading the coverage plan, it looks like they should cover fixing all the pipes. I understand that the policy says that they won't go through walls. But after I already had all the walls ripped off, and the walls were unobstructed, they still wouldn't cover any of the pipes and fix the plumbing, and that's weird. The plan says they wouldn't cover cast iron pipes, but our pipes are not cast iron. What they won't cover are the small, galvanized pipes that obviously weren't what our pipes were. So clearly, they should have covered the pipes, but they didn't.

The claims process was the other problem. The reps were uncommunicative. No one would get back to me. They didn't even tell me what happened to the tech that they hired to come out but didn’t come back, so I had to call them. When they were trying to deny my claim completely, they wouldn't even talk about it, so that was a little difficult. And when I had the plumbing repaired and I was trying to get them to tell me what they would cover, they wouldn't do it. But it's not like they're rude. They're pleasant people and their demeanor is not bad. They were just unresponsive. I would rather that they just give me my money back and cancel the policy. It’s pointless to have the policy. Just make sure what and when they will cover, as it seems like they try to get out of covering anything. So, know what you’re buying.

I thought I had a different type of plan with them which was not the deductible one and that they can replace items. For example, my refrigerator broke and I tried to work with the technician. But they still have not worked it out yet and it’s been over two months that we have not had a freezer in our house.

America’s First sent somebody out three times. The first technician said that the fan was working okay and everything was fine except for needed to change the icing and the compressor. $1200 later, he came back again and said the fan was still working properly. He changed the icing kit and the compressor and when he was doing the work, he said the fan was not working. I asked what was going on as he told us twice that the fan was working properly, and he said that something else broke. More warranty charge means more money and he played with it.

He called the company and was there in my house for another half an hour. There was a little drop of ice in the fan that was not letting it work properly. But I got it working out and everything should be fine. But a day later, it was still not making ice and was not cool enough after he replaced the icing kit and the compressor. They’re coming this Thursday and they said that if there’s another item, I’m going to have to pay them $70 plus whatever the part they have to replace. America’s First also only gave me $250 for an $8000 refrigerator and I’m not happy. The technician told me that I should be getting a different company because America’s First should be covering all the part but it's not covering enough.

I talked to Vernice from customer service at the home warranty company before they even replaced the parts because the technician was giving me only 90 days for the warranty for their parts and labor. I asked her why I should spend $1200 for 90 days of warranty. The parts could break down on the 95th day and I’m going to be $1200 out. She told me she would call and check with GE. She was told by GE customer service that the parts have a one-year warranty but I needed to raise all the parts with GE so they could start counting the year and warranty. I talked to the technician and his company asking for the information to be able to raise all those parts that I got replaced but they said they didn't have the information and they can't do anything. I called Vernice back and she said she didn't remember telling me about talking with GE with regards to warranty. That’s how bad they are and I'm pissed with the company.

The other items that I have not been paid $300 for are the garbage disposal and the dishwasher. They want to continue making me pay for one year premium and then they'll send me that $1500 back. But once I get the check, I want to cancel their home warranty. It’s the worst one I’ve ever had. It's been very frustrating and has been a very bad experience so far.

I had an older home and I already have the homeowner's insurance. So, I figured I would get something that could take care of some of the other options that I have in my home that wasn't necessarily covered. I spoke to seven different companies and AFC Home Club seemed to be the one that would be working for me. They were the number one company that was out there and they stood out the most for me. However, I have some reservations and a little bit of disappointment with them. They are helping me out a little bit but my understanding was various things in my house would be protected. If I needed to call upon the company, then they would be taken care of. But that's not necessarily the case. It seemed like they pick and choose what portions of what items they would fix or cover.

I've been paying America's 1st Choice for two years and I'm finally starting to use it. One time, I needed them to cover three various things. One was my 30 year old heater unit. It was squeaking in the middle of the night because the bearing's going out. They said that they don't cover that. Another thing was my hot water heater. It had a leak, and they're not covering that, as well. And then the third was a garbage disposal. Supposedly, they're going to order one and mail it to me. And I'm gonna get it installed. I am getting a garbage disposal but I'm also putting in $4000 out of my pocket to cover what I thought was covered. Right now, the heating lights are just going down on the heater and our hot water heater was installed yesterday. I'm waiting for the garbage disposal to come in. Then I'm gonna cancel out my service.

Since I put in three claims, I got calls from three different people. I got a call from somebody that's gonna deal with the heater, with the garbage disposal and one for the hot water heater. When I found out that they weren't gonna cover anything, I wasn't mean but the rep knew that I was very unhappy. I said, "How can you guys operate like that? Taking people's money, knowing that you're not gonna cover the products in which you guys claim you're covering?" I could tell that the lady hates her job for that because she must get that an awful lot. But she was nice and she took it.

Another thing is that the company that they sent out to take a look at my hot water heater gave us a time frame of 8:00 to 12:00, but the guy showed up at 2:30 with his girlfriend or his wife in the truck. During this situation, I was dealing with a gal by the name of Gloria in the office. When he got to the house, he told my wife that he spoke to me earlier to let me know that he was gonna be running late but I never spoke to him. Then he opened up my hot water heater closet, tore apart the insulation wrapped around the hot water heater, disconnected the straps and then just put closet back up leaving trash on my driveway. My whole hot water heater closet was trashed. I was so mad I took a picture of it. I sent it back to AFC along with how I was totally dissatisfied with the people. I also sent that back to the actual company itself, letting them know what kind of employee they have that's representing their company.

It was a bad experience all the way around for the people they sent out. They did, though, send out another company that was on them. And they took a look at the situation. But I got no help from either one of those companies. I had somebody else did the install. AFC needs to be a little bit more selective on the people that they pick.

    Response from AFC Home Warranty

We are sorry to here that Mr. Prongale was displeased with the service. The plan covers unexpected mechanical failures. As for the bearing, AFC does not cover noise, however, we do send a technician out to the home if the unit has failed to work.

We list all of the coverage online and send it to the member in their Welcome Packet. Unfortunately, there is not a product out there that is a blanket, everyone has certain conditions and out off all other companies AFC is the most transparent. We give the member a full 30 day 100% money back guarantee review time and post all current guidelines, not samples on our website.

In concern to the technician we are very sorry that he left the members home that way, please keep in mind they are not an employee of ours but we always try to help where we can and this is why we paid for someone else to come out there and take a look. In concerns with this members statements about the Hot Water Heater, we have removed that technician from our selections in his area.

I didn't like the last home warranty I had so I was trying to find a new warranty and found AFC Home Club. It's been difficult submitting a claim unless they can guarantee you that they're gonna find somebody that wants to come out and do the work. It takes four days sometimes for somebody to call me back and it's supposed to be two days at the most. Also, when you have a home warranty, you think something is supposed to be covered. You expect you're gonna have some relief when you call them but they tell you they don't cover this for this reason or it was already broken when you had it. It seems like a lot of excuses.

I've had to pay for my own air conditioner and refrigerator. Then, when my washer-dryer broke, they gave me $200 to buy a new one but that's not gonna cover anything and I had to buy my own dishwasher, too. Also, I had to redo my own breaker box downstairs and that's $1,500 I had to pay for myself even when I have electric covered. Nothing gets repaired and they find some loophole to not cover something. But the contractors they've sent out have been good and the quality's fine. I've been with them for three years and I don't know why I keep renewing. It's been a negative experience.

We bought an older home and we were afraid that the inspectors didn't do their due diligence. We don't have money to throw away on stuff when it falls apart upfront. When I found AFC Home Club, their different benefits were very explanatory. I wanted to make sure that all things were covered because on my last warranty, they said they would cover my washing machine, but they wouldn't cover the belts and other parts. If I paid the washing machine, it should be the whole washing machine.

My first claim with them did not go off the way it was supposed to because the gentleman that I've set up the program with told me that certain things were covered but didn't explain to me that there are parts of those things that were not covered. I told them that it was impossible and when I spoke to my representative, he said that everything was covered in these different categories. Once I called back and they tried to tell me that I couldn't get the repair done and called and fixed everything, it was a really easy process.

The second time I talked to them went really great. They understood what I was explaining to them about the misunderstanding with the other gentleman. They've put the claim through and sent the tech. He came three days later because it happened to be a late Friday afternoon so they couldn't get them out. He didn't speak a lot of English but he was very professional and cleaned up after himself. Also, he came on time and the quality of the work has been good so far. Overall, my experience has been simple, easy, and affordable.

I had a home warranty years ago and thought it was a good idea. And so, I looked online for a company that was reputable and had great reviews. That's when I found AFC Home Club. They were so helpful when I had the initial phone call with them. They answered all of my questions. I liked that I can always reach someone because they were local and they didn't have their customer serviced outsourced.

Submitting a claim has been fantastic. I just gave them a phone call and they got all the paperwork prepared. I did everything over the phone. I liked AFC because in other places, you have to do it online and I felt that wasn't the best customer service. I had somebody who asked me good questions to fill out the request for service instead of having to re-do it online.

Moreover, their service technicians who came out were great. My work didn't get completed only because of the age of the dishwasher. Nevertheless, AFC is a home warranty company that I plan on keeping. I feel confident that they will handle it flawlessly if anything else goes out. I've recommended AFC to my neighbor because they're in search to find a home warranty company. AFC is professional and service oriented. They perform quality work and they're the best home warranty company I've ever had.

Initially I was very dubious about AFC's willingness to perform as guaranteed, but upon a closer reading of the contract I determined that AFC was correct in their refusal to act on my request(s) until I fulfilled my obligations per the contract. Once I had done so, AFC quickly and satisfactorily contacted a repair person and the problem was resolved. The lesson I learned was to very carefully read and follow the requirements set forth by AFC. If a policy holder will assure that he/she has jumped through all the hoops, I think the process will go smoothly.

I read an article that said their customer service was really good and they covered a lot so we went with them. However, I haven't been very pleased with them. From what I understood when I signed up, more things were covered other than what was covered. We've had a lot of issues with this house and every time I've contacted them, nothing has been covered. We didn’t have any technician come out. We hired plumbers on our own, but they weren't connected to AFC. So, I cancelled my membership and they ended up giving me a partial refund. Other than that, they haven't covered anything. I've talked to 10 to 15 people and two or three were nice and helpful, but the other ones were not very quick nor helpful because I had to call daily to get the partial check. Overall, it was disappointing.

I called, gave the information, and the rep said they would try to find somebody within 24 to 48 hours. And within two days, a guy got back to me and told me they did research on my microwave and that it was seven years old, so they decided to replace it instead of repairing it, and that was pretty good. I went and got myself a microwave at Lowe's. The guy told me to send the receipt. He gave me the information on where to send it to, said he would take care of it, and he did. I sent the receipt in and got the check back. I was grateful and it was a great experience.

However, I'm a bit dissatisfied with their claims process. They wanted me to buy the material and install it and send them a receipt. But it took me three months before I could get my claim reimbursed for the garbage disposal. I did the claim in December and I just barely got a check from them last week. I was able to speak to five different reps, but nobody knew what was going on. I would have a question and they would say they would contact somebody. So I never really got a straight answer. I've only been with them for six months but so far, what they’ve done is not something that I'm extremely satisfied about. They couldn't keep their promises.

America’s First Choice Home warranty stinks. We had a different home warranty and I wanted to renew it but their rate was higher, so I went with AFC. Every claim I've ever tried to put in was not covered. They can't find technicians in my area to come service us. So I end up doing the leg work, calling and signing people myself. After they gave me a list of people, they said nobody answered.

So I called the names they gave me. Then once I called, and got to talk to a person, and I would schedule the appointment. But because they didn’t have any luck contacting them, they told me that they're not paying it because I found the person. I said, “No. You gave me the phone number to call them.” Then they said they would give me credit for something because I was misguided and something wasn’t covered under plumbing that I thought was. Then when I went to put in a claim for the washing machine, they said that I found the representative, that I found the service tech. They took my credit they were giving me and applied it to the fee for him. But then they tried to make me pay more than my contract said that I should pay because they said I found them. I said, “No, you did.” So I got screwed again. They never gave me a courtesy credit for anything. They're just ridiculous.

Then we had another problem with our washing machine. The tech came, and he said that this warranty company isn't one of the better ones. With my old company, they replaced my washing machine with a better one because it could not be repaired. I plan on cancelling with them and go back to the company I was with. I’ve already paid out of pocket because they didn’t cover anything. I could’ve been with the warranty company that charged me more money. People should be careful because you get what you paid for. I'm really disappointed. I was so excited that they were going to be a great company because the website gave them a good rating. It's just unfortunate that their company is extremely misleading and extremely frustrating.

I've had other home repair type club programs before and when I price shopped a few years ago, AFC came in the least expensive and offered some great incentives. I am a new home owner as of four years ago and I like to have coverage on the major things like the heater, air conditioner, dishwasher types and my one-year natural new product warranties were expiring so I wanted that continued coverage, to not worry about the appliances. I'd call if I have an issue and their customer service was very knowledgeable. They'd make arrangements to have a technician contact me for whatever appliance I've had problems with and then I'd work directly with the repair technician until the job is completed. It’s different technicians every time because I've had different appliances with issues, which I feel is a downside to this program because there’s no continuity.

My dishwasher quit draining and I called AFC. They sent out a repair technician and he said my timer went out which caused the drain valve to stop working overheat, that’s why it wasn’t draining. AFC got the quote for both components to be repaired. They said they would cover the timer but they would not cover the drain. I just learned they don’t cover secondary failure components, which I've never heard, and I was so annoyed. I asked for a copy of that out of our welcome packet that they supposedly sent me but I never got follow-ups through AFC so I'm hurt over that, but it's in the back of my mind as I start to look for a new home warranty program.

It's a good experience that I had with them. It was easy to submit a claim, and my claims were taken care of quickly and conscientiously. They're willing to work with the customer and the work gets done.

The MHI technician that they sent over for the furnace repair was excellent. He was really thorough and very knowledgeable. Mr. Appliance was excellent as well. However, the first person that was sent over for the refrigerator repair never got back to us. So, I called somebody in St. George to find out who worked on Samsung, and I asked AFC if they would call Mr. Appliance. They were willing to work with Mr. Appliance, even though Mr. Appliance didn't have AFC as one of the home warranty companies that they worked with. The Mr. Appliance tech got the refrigerator fixed quickly, so I was pleased that AFC was willing to work with a company that wasn't in their system.

I kept having issues with my AC and it was costing me a ton of money so I figured that it makes more sense to get it under warranty. In that way, if I do have future issues, it will cover that. So I Googled home warranty companies and America's First Choice Home Club came up first. I went with them and they were able to cover all of that and all I had to pay was my deductible. It's been very beneficial because after I got everything fixed and got the warranty, I've had several issues come up just as any homeowner does. My garage door opener went out, I had another issue with my AC, and I had a leaking water valve.

Submitting a claim over the phone was pretty easy. Their claims representatives have been polite and knowledgeable every time, even with my lack of knowledge and understanding. I think the only thing I did not like is that whenever you call to report an issue, it's not immediately being scheduled with the person who's going to come to fix it. They take your information then they send it off and then you have another representative who connects you with the plumber or the AC guy. I think it's an unnecessary step that makes the consumer have to wait longer.

I've used three different contractors because I've had several claims and they've all been very courteous, respectful and no one tried to take advantage of me. They were very straight shooters and I felt like I could trust what they were saying. The quality of their work was excellent, too. America's First is great value for the cost.

They attribute anything they want to previously existing conditions when it wasn't the case. Their fine print is so fine that you can't see that the warranty covers virtually nothing except something really simple. For a $75 part, that is not why I bought the warranty.

It is easy to file claims but fighting with them was not. I argued with them and they stuck to their fine print. It's bait and switch to some extent. They come across when they're selling to you and then when you actually need to file a claim, they do everything humanly possible not to pay. While their people were friendly, their tactics are crappy and nobody is going to renew with them. There's no way I would use them again.
