I just experienced an awful time with AFC Home Warranty. Not only did they deny my claim (under their own terms and conclusions) I am beyond words with the word honest & fair with this company. They read between the lines on related issues and find any reason to deny the claim. Even with a follow up call from a "certified, licensed, bonded" repair company they still drew their own conclusions. They also never did mail my "warranty kit" until I threatened them today with legal action. I got it within one hour. Wow how convenient.

Now that I am over my 30 day policy review period, there is question I am stuck with penalties to cancel this contract. I found them to be very shady, very untruthful, very disrespectful and surely not the least bit helpful. I am done with extended warranty policies. My advice is stick ONLY to the stores you purchase from and their own affiliates. Do not let these other fly by night companies take advantage of you. You will lose nothing but $$$ and be just as dissatisfied as I am.

I don't usually post bad reviews, as I am in the service industry and most of the time they are blown way out of proportion, however I simply have not had a good experience with the exception of when they sold me the policy. However since then I have had nothing but problems. Scope of what they covered is extremely limited and you won't find this out until after weeks of falling up with them because their system doesn't submit to the repair company. I have given up hours and hours calling vendors to find out they never received request from AFC. I have waited days and weeks for follow up only to be told they don't cover water heaters or air conditioning. I received confirmation emails that don't match with voice messages. Orders sent to appliance tech companies when it was a plumbing repairs. Bottom line, the warranty is worthless and a ton of my time has been wasted babysitting them and their process.

Called AFC on Friday 9/21 for a water heater pilot issue, they said it will take 24-48 hours to respond excluding weekends. Service company came on Wednesday 9/26. Called AFC on Thursday 9/27 to follow up and the answer was that it is under review. Called again Friday 9/28 and they said it is still under review. "Can't believe how long it takes to review a water heater pilot". So far, it has been a week without hot water and by the time they finish reviewing and taking into account the weekend, and ordering the part, it will probably be another week. This is my first service request since I applied to this company. I am sure they will find all the excuses they can to refute my complaint.

I found that AFC Home Club is dependable and professional, and I always wanna go with dependability. Usually when I submit a claim, there's never a problem. They simply check your status and if you're eligible, you simply pay your service fee. The techs they've sent out have been professional too. The one that did the thermostat did a wonderful job. People should give AFC Home Club a try.

Things happen and so I got a home warranty from AFC. I like their reviews online and it was easy to interact with their rep on the phone. It was also easy by email. We lost a bit of a contact for two weeks and then it was easy again thereafter. Submitting a claim was easy and confusing all at the same time. I would recommend using some sort of tracking ID, or if one could go on a website to see where the case is to be able to be informed rather than having to email somebody directly. Still, I’ve already recommended AFC.

BUYER BEWARE. I have held warranties on multiple properties with Old Republic Warranty and American Home Shield. Disappointed with AFC's decision to limit service repair claim on washer drum bearing repair to $150 due to full depreciation of asset. In my experience and multiple claims with ORHP and AHS, I have not had any issues on limiting repairs due depreciation. BE AWARE OF THIS SPECIFIC FINE PRINT WHEN COMPARING AGAINST OTHERS HOME WARRANTIES. Sales will tell you to disregard these comments found on other review sites, obviously service approval department will limit coverage.

We had a home warranty from another company years ago on a home we bought. It was an old home and it had an in-ground pool. That particular policy covered the pool and about six weeks into it, the pool pump went out. That would have cost $550 to fix but I paid 50 bucks. Then about nine months into the ordeal, something shorted in the breaker panel on the wall. Half of it went out and the wall was so hot when I put my hand on it. That was Sheetrock, so I was afraid my house was on fire. The repair cost almost 600 bucks and it cost me 50 bucks. So, a home warranty will pay for itself.

Then we bought this house last year. It was built in '68 and has been completely remodeled. But you can put a silk jacket on a pig and it is still a pig. So, not to take a chance, we decided to buy a home warranty policy. I went on Google, typed in "Best Home Warranty Company," and America's First Choice Home Club came out on top of the list, so they won the prize.

Submitting a claim with them was a little more difficult than I expected and it was more difficult than with the other company we had before. But the guy that they recommended and who was here knew what to do. They wanted him to tear into whatever he had to tear into and find the problem, then call them and get their approval to fix it before he did anything. And it was a simple capacitor. When you take the lid off, there it is. So I told him that we ain’t had air in two days and we were dying. I told him to fix the thing and if AFC Home Club didn't pay him, I would. So he went on and fixed it.

His work was awesome and top-notch. When he was here, he looked at the AC, said he knew what it was, and checked on it. Then he told me to flip the switch. When I did, it came on. I noticed then that he had the bad part in his hand and the new part was already on the AC. He also showed me where it got hot and swelled up. I just had to replace the fan blade on the AC the other day because the fan blade started making a racket.

After fixing the tech fixed the AC, I gave him the 800 number and I told him that he knew more what to tell AFC than I did. So he called and told them what he did. And he gave them my customer number or whatever they needed to verify it was me. When he got through, AFC's rep asked him if I would verify that the service had been done. So I took the phone and she asked me if the AC was working or not. I told that it was freezing to death and she said that was great. In the end, they paid him, so everybody was happy.

But when AFC was about to pay the claim, the tech handed me the phone and said that AFC's rep wanted to tell me something. She said that they never received a statement showing that I had a preventative maintenance done on this unit. I told her that’d be because I hadn’t had one done. But AFC's rep told me that they were gonna pay my claim but they won’t pay another one on this unit till I got the bill for the preventative maintenance sent to them. I told her I never knew anything about that and she said that it was in page three of the manual that they sent me. But I asked her to name two people out of all of their customers that ever read the damn manual. The truth was, ours was still in the big white envelope at the time and it never has been opened.

In the end, I still had their tech come out and when he put that fan blade on, I had him go ahead and do the 29 or 30-point check or whatever they wanted and had it written up. I gotta scan it and send it to them though. Other than that, AFC' s tech was too far from me and we’ve got a technician within three or four miles where I live. And at the time. he said he went all over the place and that it was gonna be the day after tomorrow at least before he could get loose and look at our unit. That was if everything went right up there as he was working on an industrial something. But I told him we needed the air the day before we talked and we couldn't wait. So I called somebody else. However, I had to use who AFC told me to use so I still called the tech they recommended and had him work on my claim.

All in all, AFC Home Club is more apprehensive about when you call in with a claim. But when I filed a claim with the other company we had, there was no problem. They simply said that they'd call somebody and call me right back to give the information when the techs were gonna be there. They were far more helpful than AFC's reps. I renewed my policy with AFC for another year, but I won’t renew it again because the personal service could be a lot better. I’m not saying that I’m mad at them, but I’m not happy with them.

I did a research on the internet and America's First Choice was one of the top ten. That was how I started with them and now, I've had them for three years. I've had one claim and that experience was good. Instead of charging me another fee, they just sent me the manufacturer part for the refrigerator and I replaced it myself at no cost. It wasn’t even real high-tech to do it. Although the part took a little bit to get here, about 10 days, it was no big deal. I had a different warranty company before and it was like pulling teeth to do a claim. I could never get them on the phone and they never called me either. AFC, on the other hand, is a lot easier to get ahold of when you call in.

I was researching online for different prices and found America's First. I always had a home warranty, but it was with a different company. America's First was running a special when I signed up and their price was a little lower than the home warranty I had for several years. This year, I filed a claim online and the site was easy to go through. It was like in an email. The person called back and said they would not send somebody over because it wasn't worth it. The garbage disposal was messed up and they could only pay up $75 for it. We bought a garbage disposal for $92, my husband installed it and then I emailed the receipt to the AFC rep. They refunded the $75 out and four weeks later I got the check. Use AFC if you want a decent price.

I got America's First Choice Home Club and got excellent service when I submitted a claim online. Their site is user-friendly. After I submitted my claim online, they had somebody come out the same day for my air conditioning. The contractor was great and so was his helper. They were courteous, charged me a fair price and took care of my AC perfectly. I've used a lot of different services as a realtor for 20 years and everybody has complained about their warranty service. On the flip side, I'd recommend this company highly. I bought the condo in December 2017. As part of the contract, the sellers paid for a warranty company for a year, December 2017-December 2018. They chose AFC - America's 1st Choice Home Club. For $60 a service call, they would either repair or replace an appliance listed in a contract. On August 21, 2018, I placed a service call **, about a broken washer General Electric GFWH1200N.

The first contractor, Power Tech Appliance Services, came to observe the broken washer on Friday, August 24, 2018. He worked on the machine and left, telling me to wait for a call from AFC. I called and texted the technician about 20 times, but AFC never reached him, and he never provided diagnostics to AFC. AFC, getting my daily calls, decided to change the technician. They gave me their best and most reliable technician, they said. Power Tech Appliance Services. The name of the technician was Victor. Victor was supposed to come on Friday, August 31, 2018, between 3pm and 7pm. Victor said that the clothes dryer is irreparable, and AFC would call me in a couple of days.

Since August 31, and until this moment, Monday, August 7, 2018, I call Power Tech Appliance Services and AFC daily. The technician talked to me several times, telling me that he was about to call AFC. AFC never reached him, and he never provided diagnostics. I haven't had a working clothes washer for almost a month, since August 21, 2018. I demand, as a consumer, for AFC to either replace my broken washer ASAP, or to give me money in the amount $899-1,299 as I see from Googling "General Electric GFWH1200N clothes washer front load white". Thank you for your help.

We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. We have reached out to the technician several times with no response. He was one of our top technicians in your area but it seems as if there have been changes within his company that led to this.

We have worked to find new and dependable technicians in your area so that this does not happen again. Due to the delay and lack of follow up from the technician we will be forwarding you $898.00 to buy a new unit. We located one for that price at Home Depot in your area but you are welcome to purchase it anywhere or any model.

Once again we apologize and a manager will be reaching out to you today.

I searched on the internet through Google and reached out to three companies including AFC, and then I decided on AFC based on my discussions with all three companies. I also decided based on the coverage and ratings that I found. They were pretty responsive and they arranged for someone to come by two days after I called. Someone else called and let me know about a technician coming in within a certain timeframe. There was some follow-through as well. They called me a couple of times in between to let me know that they approved the procurement of the part which should be coming in at a certain time. Of course, it took a little while to procure the part for the repair they performed but I understand that. Post-repair, they called to verify that the repair was satisfactory. It’s been a pretty good experience.

I am extremely disgusted at the deceptive sales practices and blatant misrepresentation of the services offered by American’s First Choice Home Club, the home warranty company. Their sales tactic is a simple bait and switch hanging on small print disclaimers sent after you sign up. Their approach to customer service is simply to deny service. Be certain they take your policy and service call fees and then hide behind – “it’s not covered” when you call for service. My problem centers on first on American’s First Choice Home Club’s failure to cover two home appliances – a built-in microwave and oven. And second, charges for two diagnostic service calls when company representatives knew before sending a repair person they would not cover the appliances.

First, I had to called twice just to get them to address problems with a built-in oven and microwave – both appliances were turning off intermittently. For the oven, they sent an electrician who said the problem was not electrical. That was a $60 fee. Then American’s First Choice Home Club representatives sent an appliance technician, another $60, who claimed the problem is a control board. So, after $120 out-of-pocket company representatives deemed the appliances are not covered. They claim there is no coverage because of depreciation. Yet, they wrote a policy on a 14-year-old house with original appliances and never once mentioned while selling the plan that my appliances would not be covered. Straight - bait and switch.

How could they be American’s First Choice Home Club. They are American’s NO Choice Home Club. Their coverage and customer service are so far below coverage provided by other home warranty companies, I have come to learn. They sold me outright a policy that is worth absolutely nothing as all appliances in my house are 14 years old, the same age as the house. After selling the policy they did nothing in the way of assessing what was and wasn’t covered in an effort to fully inform the policyholder. This is another failure of full disclosure on their part and a continuation of the bait and switch.

American’s First Choice Home Club could instruct their sales team to fully explain what is covered and to make it clear that the potential policyholder must submit in writing a full accounting of the home’s items and ages within 15 day of policy enactment. You should then follow up that conversation with an email containing explicit instructions and a form to be completed. That should then be followed with another email explaining to the policyholder what is covered in the house and at what level. But that would require American’s First Choice Home Club to operative above board, and in the customer’s best interest. I am requesting an immediate refund of my ‘entire membership fee’ and reimbursement for the $120 in unnecessary service charges as you never planned to cover them anyway. I would also like it known that I consider this an all-time low in deceptive sales tactics and misrepresentation of customer service.

I initially had another home warranty company and needed to change. I went online and compared different places. AFC seemed to cover more than what some of the other places covered and some places were much higher than what their prices were. They seemed to be one of the better companies that I've found. I decided to go with AFC and so far, I've submitted two claims to them. I wasn't pleased with the first claim because I had to pay most of it. But the last claim turned out pretty good. All of their contractors have been very professional and they knew what they were doing.

When my garbage disposal wasn’t working right, the guy who came out to repair it found out that the garbage disposal that I had in there was not the right size. Also, the piping under the sink was not correctly put in initially by the builders. So, AFC didn’t pay. I had to have that changed for him to change the garbage disposal, so I had to pay that even though I didn’t know anything about it and I wasn’t aware of it. I ended up having to pay a large portion to have that repaired, which cost me a few hundred dollars that I didn’t have.

I do not recommend AFC to anyone who is expecting responsible home warranty service. I was shopping for home warranty this year in July. I checked online and found a article saying AFC is #1 ranking home warranty, so I called AFC right away. The sales was very nice and the package price was very reasonable. I asked the sales why AFC has many bad reviews, he could not answer me and asked the sales manager to talk to me. The sales manager told me that people always write bad reviews to threat AFC to provide service that is not covered in their plan. I thought that answer was pretty acceptable. So I purchased The Gold plan with add on ice maker for 3 years and paid full price in 30 days. The sales explained what is covered in the plan and told me the 1st 30 days is waiting period, no service will be covered. I totally understood that.

Today is 60th day after I purchased the warranty. My water heater is broken and no hot water for kids to take a shower. My husband called AFC and they said they only cover $150. Then I called AFC service again and asked why is not $60 co-pay as sales told me. The receptionist asked me why I don't read the policy they send to me and it stated the 2nd month only cover $150. I said the sales did not mention anything about the 2nd month coverage. Such important information, AFC sales should let me know before I have made payment. I asked to talk to a manager, then she hang up my phone. I called back, there was a gentleman answered and said same thing.

Finally, the service manager, Jason, picked up the phone and I explained the situation. He sounds very careless and said: "It is your responsibility to read the policy, we recommend you to read it after you receive it." I told him No one have ever told or recommended me to finish reading all policies in 30 days and no one informed me there are very important coverage details I have to review immediately after I receive the policy. I believe such important information sales should let me know in the beginning. I requested AFC to pull out the conversation recording that I had with sales. Then Jason said it does not matter if they recommended me to read or not, it is still my responsibility to find out the coverage details. The passive aggressive attitude from AFC make me feel very helpless. AFC does not care of customers. They are a real scam. I have already send letter to cancel my membership. Can not trust this company anymore.

There are a few things that you should consider before signing up with this company as it will most likely give you more headaches compared to the small savings you might get with them. I decided to change warranty companies and AFC was the first one that caught my attention. Looked like they had the coverage I was looking for and the price was reasonable. Once you apply online expect a call from their account manager in my case Mike within minutes. He will do his job and sound like this is actually a good solid warranty program.

Here are the list of problems I had that might help you make your decision: 1- Takes at least 8-10 minutes every time you try to call them either to get clarification or to place a service request. It got very frustrating when you really want to get things going but every time you call you have to wait... 2- First time I needed them they said the service was not covered so they wouldn’t even send someone to the house to check what was wrong. My tenant called placing a request to have the AC checked saying that there was something wrong with the Dampers.

AFC called me saying that I had to contact a service company because Dampeners were not covered. I thought it was very strange as we don’t know if the problem was only the dampeners but still she insisted that they wouldn’t even send a service company to check. I clearly stated that I would cover for any cost related to non covered services that I just needed them to send someone to check the AC but got another big NO as an answer. I contacted a service company myself and found out that a few things were not functioning properly so again – why they couldn’t at least send someone there to check? Tried to contact them again – another long wait but at this time I am so frustrated that I am cancelling the contract and paying the service out of pocket. 3- Ah – you have to mail a letter to them to have your service cancelled. Yes – mail not email or call or request online. Don’t make the same mistake. You wont be saving money.

It takes longer than when I had AHS. AHS had a quick turnaround where they assigned somebody and then that person was going out with you to work much quicker, especially when you’re talking about plumbing issues.

I have three houses with America’s 1st Choice. I made the mistake of buying a three-year plan and I’m stuck with them for a while. I bought the package that’s supposed to cover everything, but when I had someone come for my recent request, they don’t cover stoppages and I had to take care of that myself. I had just gotten off the phone with them and they said I could add that to my plan. If I had known that in the first place, then I would’ve asked for the plan and paid $600.

    Mr. Duckworth,
I apologize for any inconvenience the plumbing stoppage may have caused you. We have 4 tiers of plans and stoppages is not a common occurrence in every home, just as every home does not have a pool. For these concerns we have additional options that can be added on. These are listed on your membership guidelines and on our website so that you may view and add at your leisure.
After review of the case, it looks like the delay occurred due to inaccurate information on the home. I believe you stated the home was on septic and your tenant stated it was not, therefore it delayed our assigning time. The normal time for assigning technicians for emergency repairs is less than 24 hours on week days.

Since you are a valued member I would be happy to offer a $200.00 goodwill credit for this repair.

My house came with a lot of appliances and a one-year warranty. The warranty had run out and I didn’t want to take any risk with it since the appliances are new but not high-end. I don’t like to be caught off-guard with anything, so it’s great to have America's 1st Choice warranty if something is unexpected. I’ve used it twice now and both were unexpected because they weren’t typical coverages. The first claim was for an ice maker which was not working. I called and I didn’t have ice maker coverage, but they worked with me and gave me a little something if they added it on for the one time. It was really nice of them to do that. It was the fridge that was broken and it was not much more than it was gonna cost but it all worked out.

The second time I used America's 1st Choice was for a garbage disposal of which I still have not gotten my check and that should happen soon. My garbage disposal started to leak and it was an unexpected coverage because they didn’t send somebody out. The reps explained that it costs them more to get somebody out than to replace it. Since garbage disposals are easy enough for most people to install by themselves, they would rather reimburse the amount for the unit itself. So, both claims went as smooth as it possibly could have.

Both were for my bathroom and the process was really simple and easy. I submitted the claims and AFC called me back in a timely manner. They let me know who will be coming or contacting me. The specialist who answered the phone was very friendly. And when the contractors said they were gonna come at a particular time, they came at that time. The technicians were all very nice and kind too. They explained things to me and we had conversations while they worked. So it was nice. Everything that I’ve experienced so far has been great. I would call and about a day or two after, they would finally get back with me. If it was something serious, that time would’ve been way too long to get something completed. We couldn’t get the air conditioner fixed in 95-degree temperature days so I was sweating for three days. That wasn’t a very pleasant experience. And then when AFC got down ready to pay it, they only paid about less than 50% of the bill, which I didn’t understand at all.

I talked with them and emailed a few times and made the decision. The technicians that came out in the past were awesome.

However, AFC's salesperson did not represent the truth in what we were sold and their claims reps were terrible. We had a water heater issue and my understanding was that if there’s an issue, I'd pay the deductible then it would be repaired or replaced. But that was not the case. I called the manufacturer and they suggested that the water heater be replaced. I also called a plumber that was down the street who was too expensive to use, and he said it really should be replaced. But as it turned out, it was not replaced. We were 48 hours without hot water. Also, we were told that the maximum amount would be paid was $150. But it was close to $300. We have paid for the first 18 months and then the second 18 months, we don’t pay. So, I’m gonna continue for 18 months but I’ll never use them again. I’m also gonna call Better Business Bureau and report them.

I’ve had a home warranty since 1989 but American Home Shield is a very different company now from when I joined them and I was disgusted. The last time I had them do anything for me, it was a deplorable mess and they didn’t offer any kind of restitution or real help. I found another warranty company and got AFC Home Club. The people on the telephone were very courteous. The plumbers who came out to take care of the problem were both sharp, clean and had nice uniforms. They were very efficient and I’d be happy to have them back in the house any time.

The problem that I had was that I called AFC on a Saturday morning and they got a 48-hour window to get a technician and could not find a plumber for me until Monday. I’ve got a pipe leaking into our downstairs bathroom, which by the time the restoration people from my insurance company got there, they got to replace one and a half rooms of carpeting and a door that warped. The tile pulled away from the wall in the bathroom and mildewed a wood stand that we have in there. We had significantly more damage since they didn’t get to that leak in a hurry. It also cost me more money because of that and the time delay was very annoying for me and my wife.

A company like AFC should have emergency service no matter what day or time of day it is. They should be able to call somebody and ask them if they’re coming out. Even if it costs me more on the service fee, I’d be willing to pay that rather than watch my ceiling leak for two more days and having to run downstairs every six hours to empty a bucket. Still, they did everything according to their contract and they put up with me when I got irate about it, which was unusually good as most will just hang up on me. I’m staying with them because of the way the people treated me. They seemed interested in me and they were understanding so I’m good with them. I’m happy enough to recommend them.

However, I sent them a letter yesterday to cancel my membership with them. I’ve been a member since 2016 and have used them about three times. In those three times that I’ve had them, I got the distinct impression that when I make a claim, they grill me like, “What the hell are you making a claim for? You’re supposed to just pay us the premium and leave it alone” kind of thing. Also, they would tell me that they're not sure if my claim was covered. I’m a guy that works with contracts all day long, so I had the whole contract in front of me, and I told them it was covered. They then said that they had to give that to their supervisor 'cause they were not sure about that. Eventually, they did the deal and sent the guy out, but it was like pulling teeth.

Another thing was that I got the gold package and they said that I didn’t pay the premiums. I had an argument with the person and we started to break it down and fix anything. With my previous experience with American Home Shield, I would be on hold for so long it was ridiculous. I talked to an AFC rep and what happened was exactly what he said would happen. Then the technician that did the service call was very nice and he fixed exactly what needed to be fixed.

What really impressed me more than anything was I received a 'thank you' card from him. I was shocked. A lot of times, we would get an email, but he sent a card in the mail. You don't normally get that unless it's somebody that owns their own company, and I think he's the owner of the company. That's the kind of thing that makes you say, "If anybody asks me or needs a plumber or whatever, I will refer him." I told my nephew all about the one that I've signed up for and it's much more reasonably priced. I have a rep that if things aren't going the way I need them to go, I can contact this guy. I looked up the top 10 consumer warranty companies, read several articles and looked at reviews, and America's First Choice Home Club came out on top, price- and service-wise. I then spoke with them and was able to obtain a military discount as well, which made it even more affordable for the family. I was able to get my whole house covered for five hundred bucks. It was a good deal and then when it was time to renew, the gentleman I had spoken to even sent me an email saying, “Hey, it’s time for renewal and I wanna make sure that you continue to get the discount that I promised you the first time for the military. So are you willing to re-up?” That was so nice of him.

AFC's service department opens up at 9:30 Eastern Standard Time and if you call before that, you wind up getting their call center which will then refer you but they won’t take the information and generate a claim for you. By the time I called for an AC claim, they were open and they were very responsive. They emailed me back immediately. But they couldn’t get a technician to me within 24 hours and they called me back. A local technician had installed my new unit and I asked if I could utilize him since we had a 95-degree weather and was still warm. Tom's service call actually cost less than the $60 service call through America’s First Choice and they allowed it. It was wonderful for me. I even got better savings there. Tom was able to take care of the issue at minimal to no cost to us.

AFC's technician also called me and I told him that the issue had already been taken care of. He said that he got a service ticket generated and he wanted to make sure that he followed up. So even their own technicians are local businesses like the gentleman I was able to contract and were wonderful. AFC also called back and asked how it went and if everything was okay. They’re the model for what service should be like and I appreciated the fact that they were willing to work with me. They listened to me and just the fact that they were willing to address the issues I had in such a professional and timely manner is a true bonus to them. I’ve been very pleased with their service and customer care.

The air conditioning unit was not working right again today and I was able to ask Tom. He could get there this morning and the warranty company said yes again. They’re just wonderful. I have a friend who's a realtor and I recommended AFC to her for her future clients because they’re that good. In fact, I will be purchasing us a home warranty for this home because I thought it’s a wonderful way to go. We would be returning home within four years after our duty station here is finished and I would love to keep my home in the best light possible so that when we move back in, we’ll have no problems. Even though all my appliances in this home are new, I still think it’s a good idea because you never know what unforeseen expense there would be. It could wipe out your savings in a heartbeat.

Contacted AFC for coverage and they said they could not cover it because there was no record of "maintenance". The unit was installed less than a year ago and the installer did his proper inspection before leaving. But because he said that he "installed" the unit and didn't do "maintenance" at installation, AFC decided not to cover the unit, even though the installation inspection performed was the same (if not better than) as he would a maintenance inspection.

Semantics is how AFC got out of paying for the repair. Because I was an unsatisfied customer and reported them to the State of Atlanta and BBB, they told me that they would refund what I paid for coverage (only half of what I paid to fix the unit) and said they will cancel my account. Buyer beware! GOOD RIDDANCE! There are plenty of other companies that are WAY better than AFC. Do your research and move on! I DO NOT recommend this company!

Submitting a claim with America's 1st was very easy. I just called in and gave the representative my name and address and told him what was going on. The representative was really nice. One time, I forgot to call back with the number of the refrigerator and the rep actually called me back the next day. And then the person that they referred my claim to called me the same day. The technician was out that same day too and he did good work. My refrigerator is now working. Thus, I have already recommended AFC to people.

I decided to change to AFC since they cover a lot of the things that we couldn't with the other one. I love that if they don’t have the technician ready to come, we can call our own technician and they take care of it. I had called to submit a claim and it was pretty easy. The rep I talked to was very nice. Also, the technician who came was very professional and helped us out.

I canvassed about four warranty companies and I liked what America's 1st Choice had to offer. I’ve been with them for two years and I've been pleased with their service, except for right now. There's an issue with the dishwasher’s door and it leaks really bad when I run it. I put in the service order and a contractor came out last Thursday. He said that he had to replace two hinges and another part and would have to order those but I haven't heard anything from him since. I'm disappointed that it's taking so long, but I'm overall satisfied with America’s 1st Choice. I have two warranties for two different homes that are my properties, and their contract is up for renewal and I will be renewing.

First off, when you call for a quote they pressure you into signing by offering a better rate and say you can always cancel if you decide it's not for you. After further review, I decided I didn't want to purchase the home warranty. It took me a week to finally get ahold of someone to cancel. My account rep or the accounting department never called me back after leaving several messages. Huge red flag regarding getting help if you did have to make a claim.

I finally got ahold of someone by going to the sales department like I wanted to receive a quote. They did issue a credit for the $250 deposit I paid on my credit card but then they posted an electronic check to my bank account (which is how I was going to make the monthly payment). I called and told them I needed that amount refunded ASAP and was told it would take 7-10 business day which I refused to accept and asked to speak to a manager. I was then told they would process a check and mail it out today but it could take 7-10 business day to receive. Needless to say I was LIVID. They refused to send the check via overnight delivery and said they had no way of doing that. I'm sorry but anyone can FedEx an envelope. This is very poor customer relations. When I do decide to purchase a home warranty plan it will not be from them.

I have home warranties in my other home and I felt they're good protection as you get older because you never realize that sometimes, you get hit, for example, $2,000. And if you get a good warranty program, it's going to at least try to ease the burden a little bit. When I submitted a claim with America's 1st Choice Home Club, it was pretty decent. The woman who handled my claim told me that I didn't have microwave protection and that was what I wanted. I said I got their best plan and I even got the ice cube thing on a refrigerator. She said I didn’t have it. And I said it was disappointing because I was paying a lot of money for it. Then she went to her manager.

I have had no claims and they paid a good portion of me getting a brand new one. So, even though there was a miscommunication as to what coverage I had, I did have their best coverage. But for some reason, if a microwave is hanging over a stove, it's not considered built-in. So, that was something I learned but it worked out okay and I'm happy with the results. I would recommend America’s 1st Choice.

You call, you get a number, they call you back and ask you what's happening. Then they assign you to someone, and that person calls you the next day and makes an appointment. Also, they have very good service people who come out. I've been very impressed with the last few contractors we had. They were nice and very professional and they knew what they were doing.

You should do your research on BBB. I can give you a better offer." I said ok, what can you offer. As he was figuring out the price, I went online and checked out BBB for both companies, AFC and Total Home Protection.

We previously had a home warranty. Things come up from time to time, so, we thought it would be good to have one. Plus, it's not really expensive for what you get. We looked up AFC online and they had a high ranking. So, we signed up with them. We recently had the air conditioner fixed and my wife submitted the claim. She said that the reps were very workable and she liked the experience. But I didn’t feel like we had a top-rated AC company. The tech that came didn’t have a digital reader which they pretty much needed to have. We had them come back the second day because they had to go get one. Then, they cleaned the units but we paid for that because that’s not covered in the warranty.

After that, we called that same service out to use them to clean the units again. I told them that I think our AC needed Freon and they said it didn't. They also said that their meter that said so was correct. I get that and that they didn’t wanna put too much Freon, but the temperature was not the same. We should have had a little more diagnostic to try to solve that issue and it didn’t seem like they did their best. They just put their pressure thing on the air conditioner and said that it was fine. But the temperature should be as cool as it was before they came. I knew that the unit needed cleaning and that was what made the temperature go up, but it still didn’t solve the problem. Other than that, AFC was easy to work with, though you might wanna ask who is the person coming and check out their company first.

Thank you for the review, it is true that putting too much freon in a unit can harm it. Ambient temperature can be a factor or an older unit when the cooling isn't efficient as it used to be, but we can let you choose your own tech next time if you wish.

I’ve had other home warranties and they are, at best, poor value. But this one is THE WORST. I called for two service diagnostics, one on my old range and one for my refrigerator. In the Seattle Tacoma area, they have only one: Express Home Service. The same “technician”, Walter, was assigned to both. On the stove, he arrived 3 hours late, was rushed and here maybe five minutes doing a cursory review and then said the range was too old and needed to be replaced. AFC refused to honor anything. Then, he was called by them to diagnosis a problem with a four year old refrigerator. He set a time between 11:30 and 1:30. He called at 1:00 to say he’d be here in half an hour. Five minutes later, he called to say he couldn’t get here until between 4 and 7. Never showed up, never called. Assuming this is an example of how AFC chooses it’s cheap contractors, purchase this at your own risk. BEWARE!!!

Initially this home warranty company seemed different. I did a great deal of homework before deciding on one. I called and thought I asked all the important questions. I reviewed the fine print. It seems the salesperson only told me what I wanted to hear to sell a product and now the company doesn't stand behind what it sold me. I purchased the platinum 3 year policy- with promise the company would assist in every step and in every way. I was assured that if the company deemed an appliance not repairable AFC would assist me in getting a comparable product at a reasonable price through avenues they had the average consumer did not. In the saleperson’s own words "AFC wouldn't leave me hanging." I even asked for examples and was told AFC could take the $1500 allotted replacement on a nonrepairable central AC unit and get a good unit that would normally cost me 3-4K.

Since having the policy I have had 2 appliances have issues. I called and placed the request for repair. Both times they didn’t send a repairman - I was told I would have to find my own. Both times they deemed the repair more than they would cover and instead opted to pay out the appliance for replacement but deemed the appliance as outdated and offered approximately 5% of the replacement value - and much less than the value listed on the policy as a payoff value. I was told that the amount listed on the policy was the max amount payoff and with depreciation the company could deem the amount they would actually pay was much less. This wasn’t explained that way when I bought the policy.

I then asked about the promise of assistance in finding a comparable appliance at a decent price - They sent me a link to Lowe's for the appliance that I could have gotten myself with Google search. I called back and I guess in an effort to hush me up they gave me an extra $100 toward the purchase - which ended up being about a tenth of the replacement cost - not counting the fee for installation. The second appliance I called about - they deemed un-repairable before the repairman could even come and allotted $100 toward an appliance that would cost me $1800 to replace.

I understand depreciation. However I was very upfront about the age of appliances the year prior when I purchased the home warranty on a home I was buying and not knowing anything about the appliances in my new home. I wanted the assurance promised by the original salesperson in help with obtaining and repairing. I would not recommend this company and being a widow with limited knowledge of appliance repairs I am very disappointed.

They do lie about their policy and once it is the time to take their service, for which you paid round the year, all you will hear from them is we do not cover this, we do not cover that. If you tell them that you never told us when you sold your product, they will reply, "I am not from the sales, so I do not know, or, it was written on our 500 pages policy documents, you need to read them." On the initial quote, the pool wasn't included so I explained that to them and they added it on.

I had called in to report that I had some issues with my garage, and AFC scheduled an appointment with me and the party that they work with. The technicians came out and inspected my garage. But surprisingly, it was working so I didn't really need them to come out because I fixed it myself apparently. They spoke with AFC afterward for billing purposes, and it was cut and dried. I've also made other calls to find out more about our policy and the reps have been great. Whenever I have had a problem, they've taken the time to explain things to me.

Word of caution when signing up for America’s 1st Choice. In my opinion they have “experts” that evaluate claims searching for loopholes so they don’t have to cover something. The term they use is “transparency”. So in other words IF NOT explicitly identified in the contract they don’t cover it. Make sure if you have an AC unit with 24” fan get that in writing. If not, and it has a 26” fan you are out of luck. Also be very careful about the 60 or 90 days where your policy IS NOT in effect. And, if you purchase a used home, you’d better have all of the maintenance records for any appliance that requires maintenance. They’ve reeled me in twice now so shame on me. Thought for sure I had us covered but the “expert” found a loophole.

Fortunately my latest experience occurred before new policy took effect. So, as long as we get a full refund will move on and look for another company. Narrowing them down as America Home Shield nailed us the first time and hoped America’s 1st Choice would not be a repeat experience. Duuuuh. The truth is they are in business to make a profit so consumers be warned. And, be careful. If I could afford an attorney, I’d get one. Good luck.

They also told me that they will remove the tech from their list. So, even though it was a bad experience with the contractor, it was still a great experience with AFC Home Club.

We had a guy come out one time when our stove flipped off and the breaker kept going on and off and he was awesome and really fast. There was another company that we had before when the water heater was leaking, and they took three days to come out. AFC Home Club is really fast and we appreciate the fee only being $60. The other companies are at $75 or $100. Also, the coverage options that AFC Home Club gives for the price range are better than the other companies we've used. Then, when we figured it out and when the technician took it off, he said it appeared to be working fine. But I said it wasn’t.

The technician took it down and found out that the homeowners before us had installed it three years ago, and they installed the baffle backwards. So, it was drawing nothing. And you can’t see it since it’s underneath everything. The microwave is not right above the stove like most homes and he had to take the whole unit out. They said that it was going to require another house call. I told them the repairman was standing right in front of it and yet they were going to charge us for another house call which was ridiculous. Also, we still have no air conditioning. It was very frustrating. The first guy came out and he told us it was frozen up outside and inside because it had a heat exchanger. He had to get it cleared first and then he went and did another job and came back again. He was supposed to bring us a Windy unit, but he never did.

AFC refused to pay for it. They said that we had to have the furnace inspected every year and it was in my booklet but we never got one. We went online and they asked us to print it all out, which we did. It’s all in the file and it doesn't say anything about having your furnace and air conditioning system inspected every year. We would have had it inspected every year if we had known that we had to do it. Supposedly, they took it to the highest person there who could make a decision. But I told them we were done with them. It was almost expired anyway and I didn’t even want to talk to them anymore. The homeowners before us chose AFC Home Club, we’ve only been in the house for two years and we just renewed it every year.

The technician has dealt with America’s First Choice before and swore he’d never deal with them again. And mostly every company down here feels that way about home warranty companies. They take forever to get paid, and the last time, it took three months. He said, for instance, our book would say which part attaches to what part. So, he knew that the claims rep was reading that and she knew that you cannot order the part that broke on ours because they're considered not environmentally friendly, so you can't get them anymore. You have to change over a whole lot more than just that one part which includes the Freon. It wouldn't run without it. And the Freon that we would have to have is worth $75 an ounce. If we had the newer part, we would have done only $25 an ounce.

In the end, he wanted nothing to do with them. But as it turns out, they're not going to help us anyway because we didn't have it inspected every year. We're very dissatisfied with it. We’re not gonna get our money’s worth by any means. People should not do it and waste their money. But if they do, they should talk to others who are very happy with it.

Mechanically the Microwave was working, since the technician does not cook in the home he was most likely not 100% sure what you were referring to until further explanation was made. Normally Built in microwaves are a two-man job for the techs as they are dangerous to be removed by one. A lot of companies require this, but it seems he was doing this member a favor by looking at it while he was there.
Per guidelines improper installation is not a covered item as this is the responsibly of the technician which installed this, but we went ahead and covered the full cost to take care of that unit as a goodwill.
As for the HVAC all guidelines are provided upfront to insure the member meets their obligations to have their units covered. The manufacturer states HVAC units should be maintained annually. Please see link.

I bought an old home. I knew things were gonna start breaking and I wanted to have a safety net. So, I went online and started searching for home warranty companies. I went with the one with the best reviews and that was AFC Home Club. I like that with this home warranty, I get to pick the people who come out. AFC's customer service was also better than the service of another home warranty company that I had before. But I don’t think they necessarily knew a lot because when I called, I would always be transferred to somebody else.

When I had an issue with my dryer, I called in to submit my claim and they gave me some number. Then I emailed AFC Home Club the information from the local guy who came out to look at it. Apparently, AFC was gonna cover only so much money for the repair. So, I went out and bought the parts, then I emailed them the receipt and they reimbursed me. But after the tech left, the dryer was completely shut and it needed all these repairs. AFC said they were only gonna give me a credit of $240 or they could repair it. But if they repaired it, they wouldn’t come out again once those parts go. So, I decided to get a new dryer and after I bought it, AFC reimbursed me for what they thought my dryer was worth to begin with. And right now, I’m still waiting for one of my payments.

I was very disappointed with my experience and I'm not gonna keep this company much longer because I don't think these home warranty companies are really out to help homeowners. They're just out to take your money. I would also tell my friends not to get any home warranty company. You pay $77 a month and they don’t cover much of anything so you’re really putting out more out of pocket than anything.

AFC offered to cover the cost of the repair and the member choose not to move forward. No company can offer a brand-new dryer when the unit can be repaired. If the homeowner wishes to get a new unit that is their choice, but we cannot be held responsible for the total cost. We are sending this member and an additional check for $60.00 making the total payment on this $320.00. If there is anything we can do in the future to help please let us know.

America's First Choice Home Club is not the best, but it’s okay. I chose them for the cost yet their claim process is very hard. A lot of times particularly, there are always the hidden little fine prints that they pull out on me when I'm calling in for a service. They say that they cover this but don’t cover another and they do that. Or they say the machine is old, and all that stuff they put in. They don’t respond in time and with the requests, the questions or the calls that we have. The last experience that I had with the claims rep had been horrible, but I just put in a new call today and I still haven’t heard back from them yet. On the other hand, the technicians are good. They work for themselves so they do the work properly and nicely. They care and they’re polite. I’m happy with the work they've done so far.

I wish AFC was a little more sensitive to the customer’s need and that they respond fast enough. There are a few things that can wait to get things to be done, but there is needed attention when the AC is out with a 100 degrees in the house or cold when the heat is out. When the fridge is out, I wish they could respond a little bit faster too. Right now, I have my garage door opener, but that’s not urgent. Still, there are a few things that could be urgent and need urgent attention and I wish they can be a little bit sympathetic. So, I definitely would not recommend them at all. I’ve had experience with other companies and while they were a little bit more expensive than AFC, I would give my recommendation to the other company.

On Sunday, May 20th, 2018 my Air conditioning went out. My full coverage on this issue started 61 days after having the policy. On the 66th day of homeownership (May 20th, 2018) is when my A/C went out. As a senior and permanently disabled person, I rely on others to help me. I thought a home warranty was to help with that. They said I had to have an annual inspection done on the house or their services would not cover me (very vague language). Annual to most of us means 12 months.

The question becomes how can I have an annual inspection if I don't own the house yet? Worse yet, the AFC company was able to get someone to look at my home before I could get one done. Remember, I've only been in the house for 66 days. Their excuse is NO SERVICE TO ANYONE WITHOUT AN ANNUAL INSPECTION, EVEN IF YOU DON'T OWN THE HOUSE OR RESIDE THERE. I had a home inspection done prior to purchasing the house. I sent it to HFC, they said they don't recognize State Certified Home Inspectors. It appears that they are out to scam seniors and disabled people.

My interactions with America's First Choice Home Club's claims reps have been fine - not terrible but usually not totally awesome. Sometimes, submitting a claim is good and sometimes it's very frustrating. The materials we have are confusing and I wish that our paperwork only has the stuff that is in our coverage. So when I'm in an emergency situation trying to find out if an issue is covered, I'd just be looking through the paperwork and not checking to see what section it would be in. A couple of times, we would ask why something was not covered but then it would just be in a different section.

It needs to be really clear what's covered and what's not and not all in one stapled piece of paperwork. They need to be separated since that's what makes it frustrating. It's frustrating when looking for a header that says plumbing and then realizing that I was looking at the wrong one after calling and talking to people or trying to set stuff up and being told that that's not covered when we could have figured that out in the paperwork. But the technicians have been great. They were able to take care of what we needed to be done. America's 1st Choice Home Club's warranty is worth it but policyholders should know what their coverage is.

They scheduled somebody to come out on Tuesday morning. When the plumber came, he didn’t find anything wrong with the toilets but it was convenient enough that we had another issue to address for a plumber and he was able to solve that while he was out there. The quality of work was good. The plumber was able to do something that we weren’t able to do on our own and that helped out a lot. He also left us information to get ahold of him if we ever have any other issues like that. The whole experience was pretty easy and very smooth from start to finish.

My previous home warranty provider hiked up their rates so I looked for another company with better rates. I went online and saw that America's First Choice Home Club was one of the top three. I then did a I did a three-year contract with them because they offered a great deal. However, submitting claims with them hasn't been very good. Once, they sent a company out that really wasn't certified with KitchenAid and the guy didn't seem to know what he was doing. So I called KitchenAid myself, asked them about a part, and they gave me one. I then called the company and told them that they don't have to send the board for repair and gave the part number that will replace it. And the guy didn't even know that. I also found another company in the same town that was KitchenAid certified that AFC Home Club could have called from the first. Also, it took two months for me to get reimbursed so I wasn't happy.

I call to submit claims and the reps just take them. The quality of service of AFC is poor and I'm not impressed. Then, when I started reading the contract, I saw how AFC Home Club put a limit to repairs. They'll only pay $400 max worth of repair if my refrigerator breaks. Whereas, the other company would fix it or replace it. If I could get out of my contract with them, I would right now. But they have it written in, "If you quit, you have to reimburse us for whatever you paid." They also told me that the three-year warranty deal won't cost me but it ended up costing me $375 a year. I wish I would have read the contract more. They are 100% harder than my previous provider. I am dissatisfied with AFC Home Club and I would not recommend them.

    Updated review: June 1, 2018

I had talked to the appliance people since I already had a work order on the dishwasher before I called the Home Warranty to let them know that when I had the dishwasher fixed I could use a fix on the oven, so they ordered the part. (which they MAGICALLY found/produced, whatever) And when the repair guy came out, he brought it and stated that the element burning through was EXTREMELY common, especially on a 25 year old oven.
So I called AFC again. Apparently they understood that the broken part was either the electronic control panel or one of the knobs. Which WOULD be physical damage. But if it was a knob, I'd have gone to the hardware store and replaced the knob. I don't want to pay $60 for the tech to come out and replace a knob I can fix.

Anyway, it is fixed - and the company is covering the repair except the $60 "deductible", but I should be able to rely on them actually making the call to the appliance company or asking more questions rather than straight-out denying my claim. I still will not renew my "warranty" when the year is up, having spent $1,050 for $650 of repairs.

    Original Review: May 23, 2018

First of all, they sell you a 1 year Home Warranty. But then you call within the first 60 days of having the warranty and they only cover $150 off the repair because it's a "pre existing condition". Then when you call with another issue 7 months in, they state that the parts are no longer manufactured for this item, and it's physical damage that doesn't "just happen", so it's not covered. (Heating element broke in my oven while I was baking, and because it snapped, it's physically damaged.) So... I'm $550 into a Home Warranty, $435 additional for a dishwasher pump, and soon to be another $400-500 to replace the stove/oven. In fairness, they will pay $150 for the dishwasher pump and repair guy to come replace it. The "Warranty" is a scam - if they don't want to cover something that breaks, they darned well aren't going to.

I submitted a claim and received an email within two business days. And they did a good job of trying to get a-hold of the plumbing company that I used but the plumber that I had slowed down the claims process. But the claims rep kept updating me everyday if she had gotten a follow-up call or email with the plumbing company. They have good customer service.

Unfortunately, our claim was an emergency and the contractor did not have a technician available right away. I had no choice but to get a random contractor that I looked up online the same day. American Home Shield wouldn't let me hire my own people even though they had sent people to my house who were so bad. They added double the amount of Freon that they should and inserted a piece in backwards which then burned off and caused major issues. So I wanted to hire my own people and America's First Choice had more flexibility on hiring people that are actually reputable. AFC was very good to work with and I would highly recommend them over American Home Shield. I was so discouraged after them and that was when we just gave up on home warranties altogether. So I'm really glad that I have AFC.

The technician who came out was so good, knowledgeable and efficient. He seemed to really know what he was talking about, better than the other people. And he did the job right. He had to drain half of the Freon out of the system and fixed it. He was here for a few hours and his price was very reasonable, more so than other guys. I paid him and then I got reimbursed. So far, we're off to a good start.

Compared to America's First Choice, the other warranty options the realtor gave me seemed to be on the costly side. But when I was filing a claim initially, I asked questions and they were not too familiar with the content of the warranty contract. I even had to explain to them what coverage there was. I also was perplexed because they had told me at one point in time that they were not gonna cover certain types of repairs because of hard water. I was very surprised by that.

When I questioned the representative saying that that's not noted in the contract, she said that they had been getting a lot of claims due to hard water and they were just not covering those anymore. We signed a yearlong contract so I thought that was very odd that they were going to restrict us on a claim coverage, if there was a need for it, based on current observations or behaviors with other clients. So I was a little disappointed with that. But that aside, the process to file a claim was easy and the representatives were very helpful and informative. The technician they sent from Veteran's Plumbing was also very good. The contractor was very responsive and professional.

My air conditioner started freezing up outside so I stayed at a friend's house because I'm in Texas and it's 90% humidity. I called on Monday morning. I set my AC off and then I left it off overnight and it unfroze and I turned it back on and it froze up again outside. So I called them and explained what was going on. I live out in the country and they have had trouble getting the technician to come for anything. I've also had a couple of other problems with things since I bought the property and they've covered nothing.

At this point in time, they told me they'd get a technician to come out. That was on Monday. I didn't hear anything. Then I called back Tuesday. Tuesday, somebody came out and looked at it and said, "Yeah. This is what's wrong. It's gonna need to have a new..." The inside unit needed to be replaced. The outside unit was new. I talked to the warranty company and they didn't call. And then, finally, in the evening I talked to somebody and they said, "We're not gonna cover it." And I said, "Why not?" I said, "Of course, that's your answer. That's every answer that's been when something with my water heater happened and something else happened."

They said, "because the unit outside is mismatched to the unit inside and it's older than the one that's outside." And I said, "Well, in the extent that something broke outside, why would they replace what's inside?" They said, "Well, that's what's considered mismatched. They're not the same brand. And it's over 10 years older than the one outside." It just made no sense. My mother is passing away so I ended up leaving. My house is gonna be without any air for two weeks. I'm gonna have to get home and buy a whole new air conditioning unit. They're awful. Their answer for everything is, "No, we're not gonna cover it," and, "This is the excuse..." I've looked them up on Google and there is not one good thing said about this company.

You call the phone number and they're good about that. They would say, "This is your claim number. If you have any questions while we're processing it, let us know." But my problem is I live 20 minutes away from town. It's not even a big town. So they've had trouble getting anybody to come help me. So it's taking more than a day for them to get any response. And then other times it was, "Well, you have to find your own and we'll reimburse them."

And this person that came out about my air conditioner, they gave me his name and when he came out, he said, "No. I don't work for them. I'm thinking about it but I haven't signed a contract with them." I don't know how it works for a normal house in a residential area, but this has been the worst experience I've ever had with anything. I have rental properties. I carry my own insurance policies but this home warranty is just in it to get the money upfront and they do not wanna dispense anything for anything. The technician did not actually work for the company. He said, "They called me out of the blue and I told them I'd come out here and look." He didn't seem very professional.

And the interesting part, when my water heater went out, same thing. I called them and said, "I've got water pouring out my hallway." They couldn't find anybody. So they said, "Here are some numbers to call." So they gave me a number of two different people. I called the one and he said, "Who is your insurance company?" And I told them and they said, "Oh, no. I'm not dealing with them." And they hung up on me. I called AFC back and the rep from AFC that I spoke to at that time, said, "That's so weird you said that because I called and the one guy said, 'I'm never dealing with you guys again.'" That was my first experience with them.

It's the most wasted money I have ever spent in my life and I don't know how they're in business. I told the girl from AFC, "You seem like a very nice young lady. I honestly hope you're in search of another job because there is no way this company is going to last with the treatment of their customer like this. It's just so bad." It's like they're mobsters running the business. I just don't know how it's illegal but they're able to do this.

I went with AFC Home Club because they had the best-rated reviews online, even though on the Better Business Bureau every provider has horrible reviews. AFC Home Club then has been good for the most part but I was considering switching because there are so many things that they don't cover, even if I got the Platinum to make sure everything possible was covered. I found Old Republic and despite being way more expensive, everything is covered, from external plumbing, fixtures, and a bunch of things that I can’t get from AFC Home Club.

Submitting claims with them has also been weird. I do mine over the phone and even though they say you can go with anybody that you want, sometimes there’s a day delay where they have to review it before they’ll approve it. It can back things up on the timeline. Then, I had an issue with my toilet leak claim. The toilet was still leaking after the contractors came. They then told me that that the drywall needed to be cut open for them to investigate. The warranty didn't cover that so they charged me. After they did that, they found out that there was no leak from the plumbing inside the walls and that they just never tightened down the bolts to the toilet the guy had repaired before.

Now, that cost me $180. I talked to the sales rep that while I understand that under normal circumstances that wouldn’t have been covered, the incompetence of the contractor and him not doing the job right the first time led to the cutting of the wall open and all the other stuff. Then on top of that, I had to pay for somebody to come and patch up the wall afterwards. But I ate it up anyway.

I had something that needed to happen quickly and finding a local plumber from the area was difficult. America's First Choice allowed me to make a call and choose my own and they would still honor the project, which was the most important part for me. My last company couldn't do that. Overall, I would recommend America's First Choice.

My girlfriend thought AFC was the best, so I went with it. I submitted a claim over the phone and the rep took care of the problem. I wasn’t sure what to expect because my air conditioner probably could be cleaned up in some ways like a maintenance task but the technician fixed the problem. There was a clog somewhere and the drain wasn’t draining. And that was really the only thing that was functionally wrong. He went right through where the most likely place was and he was right. It was down underneath the sink in the bathroom across from the air conditioner.

He got under the sink, unclogged it, and the catch pan was draining. He put a bucket underneath the hose and disconnected it from underneath the sink and drain, poked it out, and he found debris inside the end of the hose that he removed. He said that it should all dry out up there on the ceiling and if it didn't, I should give them a call. That area dried out and I haven't had any leaks since then. I put a new ceiling and I haven't had any new stains on the ceiling panel as well. I would recommend America's 1st Choice.

I was looking for better service and on time for the service. With American Home Shield, they sometimes send people who were not on time. And sometimes it takes a few days to reach them again. I called their customer service. I waited for an hour and I was very upset about it.

And so I started with AFC. If we have any troubles, I can get to talk to someone and they will follow up. There was one time I had a problem with my washer and dryer and I called AFC. It was easy submitting a claim to them. They were very good to respond to it. The reps were nice as well. My son goes online to AFC and they call me back after that to let me know they got the information about the claim and that they're working on it. Also, the interaction with the tech who came was good. He was polite and on time. He also called before he got in here. We're living in the countryside. We have a septic and well system and we went with America's 1st Choice because of the kinds of coverage that they could provide for our home. I submitted a couple of claims with them and I usually just phone them. I have an annual contract for inspection on the septic. I phone the company that holds the inspection contract and then AFC reimburses me minus my deductible. When the contractors come out, they only do the repairs necessary and they don’t tinker around with additional things.

We've had problems with our AC unit and the company that I used installed the new unit that we've got. I've been with AFC for about seven years and I've only used them one other time when our microwave broke down. I used one of their techs and it was fine. Apparently, because I've recently had to deal with two issues at the house, one for the aerobic septic's air pump that went out and then we had to have something done on our AC unit, I've only got paid this past Tuesday. Their accounting and reimbursement process takes so long that I received the check for the septic issue after 30 days. Other than that, I have found AFC to be very good.

I usually don't leave bad reviews but I had to do this so nobody has to deal with this. I can't believe this company operates this way and are still in business. It's a pure scam. I signed up for their home warranty in December. I usually ask lots of questions up front because I like to know what is covered and what is not. It seems this company's business strategy is to tell you nothing, collect your money and then send you documents hoping you won't read it. My first issue came up when I contacted them for a plumbing issue and a problem with my stove.

They then responded saying there was a limit to how much can be paid out within the next 30 days following the initial waiting period. I then asked them how come they never say this upfront and their excuse was that it was in the booklet they sent me. I spoke to a supervisor and spent some time trying to explain to him why that I could live with the fact that they couldn't possibly go over every single item that was covered but not providing that kind of detail up front was not a small matter. I also noticed it was a pattern and that it was intentional because I had referred my sister to them as well before the incident and when I contacted my sister to see if she was aware of the additional waiting period she was very surprised.

Why would they be so sneaky and not tell a customer upfront. I recently called them to initiate a service request on a water heater and two boilers. After the technician came back and said one boiler had to be replaced and the other fixed, they came back and said they'd approve $113 out of over $6000. Their excuse was that it wasn't covered. I was in shock, so I basically paid $1185.00 for home warranty only to get turned down anytime something broke down. This is a daylight robbery. If I could collect my money back I would. AHS is a much better company than this one. These ones don't even care. I really should have paid attention to the reviews before signing up with the company. It's ironic, please see text from their brochure yet I am stuck with a costly repair.

"It takes a lot of inner workings to make your home “tick”. Don’t get stuck with a costly repair. When you become a home club member, based on the club plan you choose, you receive home protection and coverage on various items. Our company was created to provide affordable extended home protection plans so that homeowners never have to receive the bad news of an unexpected and costly repair bill. We have 3 great club plans and optional items you can add."

If prorated usually over 50% of the repair. Do not buy anything from these rip offs. I called America's 1st Choice Home Club to file the claim for my stove, and they called me back with the company that they were going to send to my house for repairs. The people they sent were fine. The technician came and stated that the hinges of the doors are not functioning and it needs to be replaced. My oven is a unit that functions properly when everything is closed and shut. On most ovens, the hinges are just mechanical and keep the door open or closed, but it has nothing to do with the function of the oven. However, for my oven, it’s required because the hinges have sensors, which detect light. The sensors close the entire unit so that it functions well.

They sent the technicians a month and a half ago. Then they told me that all they can cover is a courtesy cover for an amount of $200 for repair, plus $200 for the replacement of the oven. These ovens are not cheap ovens, because these are monogram GE. Things are written out differently in their papers and it’s difficult to argue this. They have written that the hinges are not covered because hinges are mechanical, but they should cover functional stuff and in this particular oven, hinges are functional things. It should be covered. That’s the whole point of having a homeowner's warranty. I spoke with America's 1st Choice Home Club, however, they’re not going to do anything more about it. I'd tell friends that they have to read all the fine details in order not to have problems with America's 1st Choice Home Club.

And then, I had to replace my dryer that quit working. It was too old for them to fully replace it with an equivalent type because who knows how old it was. But they offered $100 off of whatever I wanted to pick, and they gave me some suggestions. That was lovely. It was a very nice compromise. They referred me to Best Buy for the purchase of a dryer. When my home warranty was up I looked on the internet and found different companies. I talked to a couple and with the three-year-plan, America’s First Choice Home Club's was the best economically. AFC first gave me a company that was way up in Marietta. I called him and there was just no way with my work schedule and he didn't wanna be down here in Stone Mountain. I called the company again and said, "Look, this guy, we can't find the time because he's so far away." And then, they gave me this other company and it worked out really well, and they got them here quickly. But that was kinda weird. And even he said, "I don't know why they gave me your case because I'm really far away." It was fixed pretty easily after I called and said I needed another company and they sent me another number.

However, he wouldn't tell me what was wrong with my furnace, and that irritated me to no end. I was like, "Well, that's my furnace. Tell me what you fixed." And he goes, "Oh, I can't discuss that." That was very irritating. So I waited until the next day because it was late by that day, and I called the company and told them, "He didn't tell me what was wrong. I would like to know what was wrong with my furnace." And she told me it was some gauge or something. That was weird that he couldn't tell or didn't want to. But they fixed my claim promptly. It worked out pretty good. I just did the $60 co-pay.

I have had other home warranties where they replace the item with something of equal value (Sears Home Protection) no matter how old it is if it cannot be repaired. I had American Home Shield and I wish I never switched to America's First Choice Home Club. I signed a three-year contract with them and it's been bad experiences, left and right. The last time we had was so easy. You just call in, they text message you, somebody comes within 24 hours, the thing gets fixed, and then you're done. But First Choice always finds loopholes. They say they're not going to be responsible for that and they're not responsible for this.

In addition, when you sign up, they say you have to wait 30 days for it to take effect which is fine. I get it. But I felt they should have some clause there if you've had insurance like I did for the last five years. So I paid for two insurances for 30 days and then, when something happened the second month I had them, there was something in the fine print that says if something happens after the 30 days, First Choice only covers a certain percentage and they never told me that. I was upset.

Also, while submitting a claim was not too bad, they close. So if it's 5:45, you have to call back. But then, somebody will answer and tell you they don't know how to do things, which wasn't the case with the last company I had. I did ask First Choice why can't they put it in the system and start it or why are they even answering the phone if they can't do anything. I just get frustrated. And since after you start a claim, they have 48 hours to even contact their technician, I call around and find out who to use. I'm just glad that they allow you to do it because sometimes, like when my pump breaks on a pool and I have to wait a couple of days, the whole pool system that I have been paying to keep up could be messy. So I just had a technician come out.

My brother wasn’t too happy with another company he was with. Then he heard about America's First Choice Home Club and he said he would give them a try. I also chose them because of him. The warranties that I had when I first bought my products were getting ready to expire. The reps were really nice but when I first signed up, they did not explain to me that when I have an issue, I have to have this person doing the repair give an estimate, then it has to be approved. When I had an issue with my toilet leaking, I called and they told me that I could use their person or I could get my own. But if I would use theirs, it would take maybe 24 hours and I couldn’t wait that long. My toilet was leaking and I needed to be able to use it. So they said that I could get my own person as long as he’s licensed, certified and insured. It was not a problem because I already had a plumber.

The plumber came out and told me what was wrong. I then called AFC and they told me they had to submit it to get it approved. I was like, “Approved? Where this approved come from?” If they were not satisfied with what this plumber told me, were they not paying for the work? I had them on speaker and the plumber was thinking that he was not going to get paid and that he had wasted his time. I told him he was going to get paid and I needed my toilet fixed. The AFC rep said that she would call right back. In the meantime, the plumber had to wait and he couldn’t do anything.

When I signed up, I asked the guy that I talked to how this works and he said that I would pay so much every month until I pay off the plan and then when I need a repair, I am going to pay $60. He didn’t tell me anything else. They can’t just tell us half of what they want us to know because they want our business. I’m a homeowner and when I say I need a repair, I need a repair. I can’t pick up the phone and call a landlord. I am the landlord. They’re supposed to conduct business the way they told me, no add-on and no added accessories.

I’m paying them $1250 for about three years and I’m only supposed to have to pay them $60 to get my stuff fixed. They told me all I needed was to make sure that the person was licensed and insured. He gave me a scope of what he was doing and then AFC was telling me the claim had to be approved and then they may tell me it’s not covered. They didn’t tell me that. I covered almost everything in my house, except for the water heater ‘cause it’s brand-new and it’s under coverage through who I bought it from. It was crazy and I was not a happy camper. My brother also had an incident and he’s not a happy camper right now either. His water heater went out and because it was leaking, AFC said it was not covered even though it’s not in their contract that it’s not covered. All they could give him was $180 towards a new one. But I’m new. I’ve only used them once and I’m willing to give them a second chance.

I bought a home in 2015 and at the time, AFC was offering me the best price and they had a couple of other incentives that were working for me so I went with them. I have put in two service requests and AFC has gotten everything done. I just call them and they usually get back with me with the provider in my area that will take care of the work and go from there.

I’m not sure who the company was that they sent out the first time when I had a problem with my refrigerator. It was a husband and wife team. But they were very argumentative with me about how I was supposed to pay, because I know I’m only supposed to pay the $60 fee when they come out and then the warranty company pays the other. And the guy was arguing with me because evidently he works with other maintenance companies that don’t handle it that way. I had to call AFC while he was there and get them to talk to him before he would complete the work and do what he was supposed to do.

Then second guy that came in, AFC told me to have him call them before he did the work. I did that, but he told me he couldn’t get in touch with them and he was just gonna go ahead and fix the freezer. And since the freezer wasn’t working, I just let him fix it because my ice was melting and the stuff in there was melting. When I talked to America’s 1st Choice, the lady told me that that took the choice of replacing the refrigerator out of my hands, because I could have gone with replacement and having them give me whatever they were going to give me towards the replacement or I have him repair it. But since he already repaired it, I felt that he had to be paid because he did the work. So, the technicians have been little iffy, but other than that, they have gotten the stuff done and they worked really well with me.

My brother is a realtor and I was buying a house and he told me to look into some kind of insurance plan. I Googled it and America's 1st Choice Home Club came up. Their prices were reasonable and it seemed like they covered more. But that’s an issue because the person I spoke to on the phone would sell me anything. They got the packet but I didn't get it and I had to call three times for it. And he had told me the roofs were covered, but they were not. He had told me, "Your dishwasher breaks, we replace it." Those were his words.

I just had my heater go and AFC Home Club took depreciation because it's 10 years old. First, they tried to give me $100 and I said no. I had it inspected before I moved in. I could have wanted a heating specialist like an HVAC type of person to look at it, but we had to pay for that. I'm disabled and I can't force a big bill. But I still wasn’t satisfied with the service call, so I paid for somebody else. When I told AFC Home Club that, they brought the bill up to $200 something, but the bill with the other contractor was over $300. So, it's very misleading when you talk to a salesman.

I call when I submit claims and the first claim I had was for my garage door that wouldn't close. Being a single woman, I was concerned about getting it shut. It was a weekend and the rep said someone would call me first thing in the morning, and nobody called. I called the garage door company which took care of the problem but AFC Home Club did not pay for the whole repair. Also, there was one time when I had no heat. AFC Home Club said the repair would be in a couple days, but then it was in mid-winter and I had no heat. So, for both times with the garage door and the heat, I got my own contractor because I wasn’t waiting for their guy to come out. If it's something that needs to be fixed right away, I'd be happy to use a third person. AFC Home Club's service was so-so, but I paid three years in advance. My experience with them has been very disappointing and I wouldn’t recommend them.

I have only had one claim and I was very satisfied with the contractor's work. I have to call them again because my dishwasher is leaking.

AFC said the part we needed to fix the AC wasn't covered and would not pay anything toward a new unit. Why do I even have coverage? I plan to cancel.

I talked to the sales guy and he was good. I was happy about being able to cancel it at any time or I can bring my own contractor--I have a good plumber. However, when my contractor tried to call, he waited a long time. So he dropped the call because he was coming and it was an emergency plumbing issue. Besides, the contractor cannot keep calling or be staying online for a long time. But other than that, when I call AFC, they would call me back immediately and send out a contractor for a different issue.

One of my friends said something about AFC Home Club. I went on the internet to compare prices and decided to go with them. When I filed claims, the technicians they sent out were great. The first company I called was for my washing machine that wasn't spinning. Their tech kept saying that I owed $75 but I said I owed $60 and AFC would pay them the rest. He called his office and got it straightened out. So, they weren't very informed on that.

Other than that, AFC should make answering the phone a priority. I would call them and nobody would answer. Then, when I'd talk to them, they'd put me on hold but would never say, it'd be a 10-minute or a five-minute wait. It would just have this music come on and it was very frustrating. I used to have American Home Shield and they would always answer and I'd get serviced. So, I thought that AFC gave me bad service and I almost went back to American Home Shield because of it. I tried to call my salesperson but he never answered. So I'm giving AFC another try and hopefully, they get better on that. Otherwise, everybody I talked to was very nice. I also recommended AFC to others. For a home warranty, $60 makes a big difference and I suppose their price doesn't go up like it did with American Home Shield. I started off with $35 in American Home Shield and it went the whole way up to $75. So if AFC's price would stay at $60, it'd be fine.

And everybody said it was getting to be a time for everything else to start falling apart in my house, so I decided that I needed to see some insurance for all my home needs. I was searching among different companies, filled out a form, and somebody from AFC Home Club personally called, so they got my business.

I tried filing a claim with them online for my septic system but their website wasn't responding right, so I did it by phone. When their reps came out, they stopped the septic system and I was not using water or the toilet for a couple of days. Then, nobody was calling me back. So, I called AFC again and this time, they apologized and said that the problem was that they hadn't been able to find anybody locally that works with my system because I'm in a small community in the west side of the mountains of Washington State. So they told me that perhaps I could find somebody myself locally, which I did.

When the people came out from the company to work on the system, the fellow who was in-charged spoke with AFC's representative on the phone. She spoke to me and said that they would be covering the work up to $190. Fortunately, it didn't cost that much. I sent the paperwork last month and so far, I haven't received my money yet. Still, I was satisfied with how they dealt with me. I also liked how they contacted me and that they seemed informative when I asked questions about the warranty before I actually signed up.

I worked with their salesperson in Georgia, explained to him what type of home equipment I had, and he was able to cover what I described to him. I've had two claims so far and for the first one, I called ahead to talk to the service people and make sure it was covered. There was a situation that wasn't covered but it was not a big deal.

On the second one I had recently, I was able to get a covered piece of the equipment repaired. I was encouraged to provide some evidence of preventive maintenance on this equipment and since I've only had the house for a few months, it was a little difficult to provide that. But I used the home inspection information that was provided when we did the inspection of the house and that was okay with the claims people. America's First Choice Home Club was also very responsive. I was able to get the work scheduled the very next day and got it done, so I couldn't be happier for that. Plus, we had a good repair person that was easy to work with. I was on site when the repairs were being made so I could understand what was going on and how to avoid it in the future. It was an easy and painless process. I got full coverage for the maintenance, too. That was the one experience I had where the warranty seemed pretty reasonable.

I went with America's First Choice Home Club because of their pricing, although they are competitive with everyone else. Submitting a claim, however, was a very poor experience and I was very disappointed. I had a garbage disposal issue and I've come to find out they only reimburse a partial amount of the disposal and not any labor required in replacing. Because on their website, it says what they cover and one of them is the disposal. But it does not say that the labor is not included and it does not say that for the disposal, as an example, "We only cover x-amount." And looking closely at the contract, it stipulates something about certain items that they do not reimburse labor charges for. I even did the installation myself as they would not cover labor.

Also, my wife said that that was the reason why we have a home warranty because of that labor. If we have known that, we would not have picked that insurance home warranty. It was not disclosed properly. When you're paying a home warranty and you're not really getting what you're expecting, I think that is wrong. Our past home warranty was a very different service. They paid for the labor. We thought we'd try something different and it was a mistake.

So consequently, this was our first claim with them. Hopefully, it would be my last because next year, when this expires, I'm canceling and going with someone else. Plus, there was a refund that happened well over a month ago, and when I called them just this past week, it was just an answering service and the technician would not get back to me until Monday morning. They failed to mention, "Oh, it could take up to 30 days to have your check processed." So, I just received it just yesterday. We're very disappointed with their service.

We are sorry to hear that you were not pleased with the disposal request. Labor is covered on all other items in the membership except Disposals. The reason for this is it is a common item that can be installed by the homeowner, just as you stated you did. By installing this yourself and purchasing the unit in full you also save a $60.00 service fee. Normally a handyman charges about $60.00 to install these units which you can then take the money you saved and pay the handyman if you wish. I apologize if this was not stated to your clearly about saving the service fee. If you would like to update the star rating now that you were made aware of this stipulation solely being on disposal and Labor is covered on other repairs we would be happy to offer the $60.00 service fee directly to you since you installed this yourself, thank you.

I researched America's 1st Choice Home Club online as I was looking for a home warranty. Initially, I thought that what they were offering was competitive in comparison to other home warranties. It may have been a rushed decision since there was a $250 down payment, which I didn't know about until the actual sign up of the warranty, so it took me by surprise. And I still pay them each month.

They're responsive in reference to filing the claim. They have it set up where it's user-friendly. However, when it comes to the people they have contracted with to come out to our home, I haven't had the best outcomes. On the first situation, the person never even called me. I was chasing him down to schedule something. We ended up having to go to somebody else since he wasn't very responsive. I'm usually patient where I could give him a week, but it started dragging on.

The second time around, the technician needed to come out multiple times before he resolved the problem. He took out something out of my refrigerator that wasn't broken, which I never liked. And then, he never brought that part back because he said that he replaced it. I told him that maybe I could get that other one and continue to utilize that in case something does happen. Still, he didn't return it. And then, the replaced part still doesn't function as it would even if I would've called somebody with more professionalism or experience. Now I regret going with America's 1st Choice and should've gone with somebody else that has more technicians, locally, that can accommodate my needs.

I am only leaving one star because I can't leave zero. I took a policy with AFC in November when our original policy expired with American Home Shield and the price went up to renew. We had been in our house a year and our home had had a lot of unexpected breakages in the first year so we took the platinum AFC coverage as insurance against any surprises. Our water heater broke last Thursday. Actually the pipe above it burst and was leaking on the heater. I called as soon as I noticed it and they called back the following day and left the message of a contractor to come and assess the heater. This was the first difference my prior experience, I had to arrange my own contractor.

I called the company and they said they had never heard of AFC and didn't do warranty call outs except American Home Shield. I had used this plumber before however and knew they were a good firm. It took until Monday calling back and forth for them to send a work order to the plumber so they would come out. I got on the schedule and they came out Tuesday, by which time the slow leak was all over one corner of my unfinished part of the basement. I mentioned this to the service center and they said to "call back when the technician was in situ and they would be able to resolve the problem then and there." The technician came out and said the valve above the heater had failed and it was not a standard valve.

I was present when he told the service center this on the call. They then said they could not resolve the claim "because the claims department has many cases prior to yours." Then there was an issue with the fact I have two water heaters which I told them when I was sold the policy. They said they were likely under warranty and they had the wrong serial number. Then they said the water heater had failed and it was not covered. I was exasperated at this point and felt that they were flipping through a book to find reasons to refuse the charge and their response was neither in the spirit nor the letter of the warranty I bought. They offered a goodwill gesture of $125 against a $1360 repair.

I was made to feel like a crook on the make rather than someone making a valid claim on an insurance policy I took out. I said at that point I would cancel my policy and save myself the money towards the repair seeing as vice days later all I had was a larger leak, a ton of aggravation and the number of the guy I would have called originally. They said to cancel they needed a certified letter their head office, a $75 cancellation fee and my policy would be prorated from when they received the policy. I rang their main office at that point and asked to speak to a supervisor. She called me the following morning and I gave hearth history. She said she wondered why I had two heaters and looked online and my house looked great, I have a lovely home, which I felt was way out of the scope of my complaint.

I explained I had gone ahead and scheduled the repair being 6 days without water and having a sizable amount of water on my basement floor. She said she wouldn't cover heaters, I explained again the heater had not failed. It was the plumbing to it which is clearly covered in all the information I had. I gave her the number of the technician who she called and confirmed. She said she would not cover the repair beyond $180. The cost of the heater and a node in Lowe's, that the rest of the repair is labor which they wouldn't cover anyway and that's was only a goodwill gesture given as the valve was not standard. I expressed my frustration given that I was as a homeowner not surely expected to certify every piece of equipment prior to buying the policy and this was only the latest in a long list of reasons to try refuse the claim.

That surely labor would be covered in any event as it was in my previous policy. My advice is keep your $600 towards any failure you might have in your home and stay well clear of these crooks, they fully intend to do nothing for any failure in your home and their customer service is by far the poorest I've encountered in a long time. I spend over 3 hours on hold in all this back and forth and never spoke to the same person twice. I will be canceling this policy.

I never received anything via US post or email from the representative named Randy. I called Randy on 1/27 several times but no call back. I left him a message based on what I read online - reviews and on the site which said that this membership does not meet my need and I want to cancel it. I had not heard back from him so I called the company back and they said I have to talk to Randy regarding this as they can't touch the account so I left him another voice message regarding cancelling the membership and getting a refund.

He called me back later that day and left me vm stating that he was returning my call. I called him back on the 1/31 and he said paperwork was sent out and I told him I have not received it so go ahead and cancel it as I have stated in my messages to him and once I receive the paperwork and upon my review if it suits my needs then I will let him know if I am interested in buying it at that time. On 1/31 the membership should have been cancelled so I gave it a few days for the transaction to go through and funds to be credited and on 2/12 I called Randy back stating that I have not seen the cancellation and have not received anything and want to be sure this cancellation goes through but no answer back.

I called back on 2/14. I called Randy back and he said he misunderstood about cancellation and he has his folks sent me another package which I have yet to receive and he also lied about calling me back and not receiving my messages. I told him that we are still under a month grace period so cancel the membership right now. He said he is putting in for it but I will receive a follow up call from his boss tomorrow. No call from him or his boss and my another charge of $592 on my credit card shows up.

These people are con artists, dishonest and running a fraudulent business holding your funds hostage once you give them your credit card information. I have the charges in dispute now and will be taking legal action against these morons. I would not recommend them no matter what they try to tell you. There were no follow up on receipt of any material even after I told Randy that I had not received anything. Save your money and don’t buy from them. I was sort of lucky in that I was able to get some of my money back. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. I have been telling everyone I know NOT to buy their products. AMERICA'S 1st CHOICE HOME CLUB IS NOT GOING TO WORK WITH YOU!! They will take your money and when it comes time to file a claim, they will fight you every step of the way.

I switched to America's First Choice since the company I was with before really sucked. I've tried submitting a claim but apparently, the fine print says things are only guaranteed for a certain amount of years. That was never told to me upfront. When my air conditioning went out, I had to pay for it. I was ready to cancel but they said, "We can take that off your insurance then we'll give you $100 goodwill." It was a big deal for a $5,000 system. I said, "You're going to take that off of my premium because I already paid for three years." They agreed. I was also told, "You don't have to pay for the insurance on that because you bought a new system and have a manufacturer's warranty." However, for a year now, I've been trying to get them to refund my portion of my insurance for the air conditioner and I still have not had that deduction off of what I pay.

In December, when my refrigerator went out and they told me that they weren't going to pay for it, I again asked them about refunding my money for the insurance on the air conditioning and that was the last time I heard from them. There's no communication and they don't do what they say they would. However, I'm locked in. I paid for three years and if I can't get a refund from them, getting my money back will be an act of god. They want a certified letter, among other things.

I've had a home warranty before and I wasn't happy with the previous company. America's 1st was more efficient in finding someone to service things when I needed them. I've had them for a couple of years. Also, I was able to use them after I moved to another state. It was great and the price was reasonable. I just called them and told them my address changed. My coverage changed slightly as well. When I submitted a claim, I called them and explained what the problem was. They worked to find a provider to come out and fix it. It took them about a week to send someone out to my house because it was during Christmas. The technician was a nice guy and very professional. He worked with America's 1st Choice before. Everything about my experience was great and I would tell people to go with America's 1st.

I was swindled into signing up with America's 1st Choice Home Club because they told me if they couldn't fix it, they will replace it. I've never had anything to be replaced but what they told me was not true when I used it with my dishwasher. I thought they were going to replace my dishwasher but they were able to fix it. They even said that they don't replace it and that they don't even cover the part that was needed. I told them that they were wasting my time. Then they gave me money to have it fixed which helped and then I just paid the difference. It is repaired now and I'm satisfied with it.

But they're telling people one thing when you sign up and I don't like that because there are companies that will replace a fix. I just decided to go ahead and stick with them since the AFC rep talked to some manager so they gave me some money towards fixing my dishwasher. I wasn't left eating the whole thing after paying out all those money for a home warranty for three years for $1,200, which I could have very easily canceled and begged for my money back. But other than that, I can live with it.

I also called them for my air and heating service to be checked and they sent out someone. I had a garage built and someone accidentally unplugged the central air and heating from the fuse thing. AFC let me know that that was a problem. They asked me if I needed an electrician which I did not because the contractors were still building. So, I just told the contractors to fix it. And it's working fine now.

I used to be with Fidelity and they were excellent. However, I thought I could do better with the price so I searched on the internet and I went with America's First Choice because they were a little cheaper. I have had one claim with them so far and I wasn't really happy. I had an electrical problem and I knew it was in the breaker box. When I submitted the claim, the customer service was great. They sent out a local guy, but he wasn't an electrician. He was a handyman and he was on the phone with an electrician. However, he couldn't quite get it so he couldn't figure the issue out. He was going to tear all my walls apart and I said, "No. We're not doing that." When my daughter came over, we found out that there was a loose screw on the negative wire on the breaker.

America's First Choice is a newer company and was very apologetic. The whole experience probably made them check further into who they are sending out. Even the guy said that that was the first time he ever worked for them. Obviously, they didn't have anybody else in Bakersfield. It made us all a little bit more aware and they told me they wouldn't send someone who isn't qualified anymore. I'm happy that they gave me my service fee back but I don't know if I will go back with them again.
