I have now had kitchen sink/plumbing issues repaired three times in one year. First contractor left out washers during a pipe replacement and snake and resulted in a second contractor visit. Third visit was for a garbage disposal unit replacement. Each request resulted in me waiting at least two weeks to get someone out due to no follow up to confirm contact between repairman and customer. In addition, I was required to pay the installation fee of $145.00 on the disposal unit replacement. This is not good service for a policy I pay over $400 annually for.

AFC is the worst company in the whole world. I would never, ever recommend them. Everything has depreciation which is absolutely ridiculous. They also send over people who are incompetent of repairing anything. At the very end, they sent me a check when I was having dryer issues but it's like pulling teeth from them. When I'm trying to get services, it's always the same thing. I call it in, tell them I need somebody, then they call me and say they'll call me back. Then they call back and tell me that everybody doesn't answer the phone. I find it very hard to believe that reputable businesses do not answer the phone. I thought I had done my research on them but obviously, I didn't do well enough, or their advertisement is falsified on the internet.

We researched America’s First Choice Home Club on the internet when we bought the house last year. I liked the way we discussed the plan and how everything worked out. It was an excellent experience when I submitted a claim over the phone. Their rep was excellent as well. We’ve used their contractor for our heating and air conditioning since 2004, so we have a good rapport with them. We’re going to end of the month re-sign up with them. Overall, my experience was very good.

I've had a few experiences with America's 1st Choice Home Club and I've not been very happy with them. One of the times, I had a freezer that was not working and they took a long time finding a contractor in the area. When they did, he's like, "Oh, it needs to be replaced." So he called them and they wanted a second opinion because they don't think it needs to be replaced. They're looking for any way not to have to pay for the claim.

They couldn't find anybody else and left it up to my wife to spend a good half-day, if not more, trying to find somebody. They put the burden on us to find a second opinion that they wanted. When we finally found somebody, they said, "We don't contract with them so you'll have to pay them and we'll pay you back." So he got the freezer fixed and then I submitted my claim. And it took them almost two months to give me my check. When they send me the check, they took $60 out, which I had already paid to the first inspector and was required to pay. So they had to send me another check for $60 which took another 6 weeks so I wasn't happy with that to begin with.

Then I got another claim when our dryer went out so we called. They said, "We'd get it fixed." They sent the same repairman who did the work on our freezer. We really liked him, nice service. He went to submit the claim to them and he sat on the phone for like an hour and he's like, "I don't have time for this." So he went ahead and fixed it and then they said they are not gonna pay for it because we didn't get prior authorization.

The technician gave them the report that there was lint and other stuff in the dryer and this is stuff that he suctioned out that has no way of me being able to get it. You got to take the dryer apart to get it. They claimed that because there was lint in the dryer this was a maintenance issue and they aren't responsible for it. I didn't even know the status of that claim. I talked to the company, which is almost two months after the incident, and they're like, "We're still fighting with them to try to get this done."

And then I filed for a third claim on our hot tub. They called the contractor and said, "We're not covering this because it's part of the pool." And we said, "We know it specifically covers for the pool." There's a separate clause that I had to call them back and say, "Look, this is a separate hot tub. It's a totally separate article. It doesn't pertain to that and you are gonna cover this because it says it's being covered." It took them two days to get back to me from a manager and then the manager is like, "Well, the hot tub is 13 years old, so we're not paying for it. Depreciation says we're not gonna have to pay for it. But as a goodwill gesture, we'll pay for half of it."

Those are the three claims I've had and it's been like pulling teeth to get them to get somebody. Forever reimbursement and then it's always a fight because they're trying not to pay for stuff. They're gonna find any excuse they can not to pay for it and that's not the purpose of a home warranty. They have a staff that is poorly informed about the stuff, from their sales people to their main department and their responses are very slow.

One of the reasons I chose them is because they had good ratings on the internet searches that I did. But after I worked with them I'm probably gonna look for a new company before my contract expires. If I could find somebody who is going to do a better job before my contract ends, I'll probably cancel.

My experience with AFC has not been good. I filed one claim because we had a part that went out in the plumbing. I had to call back two months later and tell them that I still haven’t received my check because they had sent a letter saying that we should have been getting our check. That’s how pitiful it was. I told the lady, “If I don’t get the check in a week, I’ll just be canceling.” I’d still probably end up canceling. I shouldn’t have to do their job when I’m paying for the platinum package. I'm not satisfied and I wouldn't recommend them.

I PAID FOR THE COVERAGE IN May 2016 and was told that I would not have any coverage for 30 days. In August my AC unit went out. I had to pay the whole bill of 458. They told me they would send the money back to me if I took out a maintenance agreement which I did. They refused to send it back and said I had not had prior maintenance on it which no one had told me. Don't use them.

I picked AFC because they cover Freon on an AC system. Mine was made the last year that systems used Freon. So it’s the newest Freon-using system there is. And they told me last time that they will no longer cover any repairs on it because it’s too old. I also had my hot water heater fill out. I called and told them it was original in the house. They let me spend the $60 to have someone come out here and look at it, and all they told me was, “No. It’s too old. We won’t cover it.”

Well, why do I have a warranty company covering my house if they don’t cover anything that’s too old? Nothing should be too old. A brand new thing is not going out for a couple of years. I get a warranty because it is aging and want it repaired when it breaks. Honestly, I don’t even know what they would cover in my house now. They don’t cover clogs for plumbing, hot water heater, my AC system, microwave. They have offered to send me a copy of the contract. But, of course, I don’t even get that when I take this out. They do not offer to help in any way.

I found AFC Home Club online when I was looking for a warranty in purchasing a new house, then I emailed them and asked if they provide warranties for new homes and they said they do. When we purchased the house, we made the agreement that the seller would pay for the policy. They paid two-thirds of the price of the policy and we paid one-third to get three years. Submitting a claim is not difficult, but getting paid for the claim is very frustrating. I explained to them that I was an insurance adjuster for many years and we would not do a policy without having the money, and that’s exactly their process, too. People don’t get their policy until they get the premium. But when a claim is filed, people pay for it then they are reimbursed, but they said it takes up to eight weeks to issue a check. I said, “That doesn’t sound right. Today’s electronic deal is you can just approve it, print the check, then throw it in the mail.

They should change their payment process to reimburse their customers as fast as possible. We’ve had three claims and I’m still waiting to get paid for the third one. The other one was in their policy. However, they’re not very explicit about what they cover. We had a problem with the wiring in our well, going down to the pump. I placed a $3000 claim but they wouldn’t cover it. They said, “Well, you have to take out extra coverage for wells.” I replied, “You should’ve explained that to me in the buying process.” I would’ve taken out the extra coverage if they told me that. I won't use them again.

AFC Home Club had the best program on paper so I chose them. However, my experience with them has been less than ideal. There was always a problem. When my dishwasher needed to be repaired and they made a wrong diagnosis, they wouldn't repair it because it was 10 years old. They said it was beyond its life expectancy. But when I had a real repairman come by, it was an easy fix. There was also the claim regarding my Sub-Zero refrigerator. Again the technicians made the wrong diagnosis. I had to get someone who was experienced with that brand who fixed it right away. The technicians they sent were lousy. They were probably handymen and not real appliance technicians. They seemed that way or as a secondary company that wasn't familiar with the brand even though they were given the name of the brand on for the service quote.

I was changing from my old home warranty to a new one and AFC Home Club's price was better at the time for what I needed. I went over with them on some details on my inground pool which as turned green. When I called, at first they said my part’s gonna be $380 and I told them that’s not right as I had already paid $60 and all the labor should be covered. I called on a Thursday and they didn’t call me back until Tuesday. It was over the Labor Day weekend and Monday was also a holiday.

So when I called back on Tuesday, I told them that I was confused because when I talked to the people to get the warranty, I asked them what the deal was, how it worked, and what I was looking at if anything went wrong with my swimming pool or appliance. And they explained in great detail how I would pay the person that comes out there $65 or $75. I went with that because I'm a single mom and have to be careful.

Three to six months ago, the pool's motor was making noise and I was told I'll have to wait until it goes out so they can fix or replace it. So when the motor finally went out that Labor Day weekend, I was told the value of my warranty payment depreciated over a period of time. I told them I understood that but they needed to make that very clear to me as I'm old and so that I'd be more prepared instead of thinking I got home warranty and am only gonna be out 65, 70 bucks unless something major happens. And also so we have that option of either changing or staying with their company. But they said they'd cover the pool and everything and I won’t have anything to worry about. The lady I talked to said the most I would be out would be $150 plus the $65. I told them then that I can do that. I appreciated talking to them and thanked them for listening.

When I came back to pay it, all I ended paying out was $60, so that was very nice. They really did a good job taking care of me, and for that reason I’ll go back with them again because that’s my biggest concern. I can deal with a refrigerator but when it comes to a pool, I wanted to make sure that I'm covered. And they were really good and stayed in touch with me that time. The only thing they didn’t do which surprised me was to call back on the Friday to let me know what was going on. The other three times I’ve used them, they’ve called back immediately and had a company ready to come out and take care of me immediately. The service like that on their part is wonderful.

I purchased a house that already had AFC Home Club and the owner transferred the warranty to me. I usually submit my claims over the phone, and the claims reps have been very pleasant, and they answer my questions. When I purchased this home, the AC did not work at all and the previous owner suggested that I reach out to AFC who then told me that they had been sending people to examine it and they had done so much patch work on it. I got another opinion from an AC guy that my family uses and trusts, and he said that they had done such patch work on it that it wasn't repairable anymore, and it should have been replaced long before. So, I purchased a whole new system and the only thing AFC gave me was $500 for a $7,000 system. That's the last thing I needed after buying a home. Also, they said I would get the check within four to six weeks, but it took them over eight weeks.

I filed another claim for the dishwasher because that wasn't working either. But I ended up getting a friend to come and look at it. And when they had installed a new garbage disposal, because that didn't work either, whoever installed it didn't take out a plug. So the dishwasher would just fill with water. But I ended up just getting a friend to look at it, and he was able to fix it. So I notified AFC that I didn't need any further assistance with the dishwasher. I am extremely disappointed. I've already decided that I'm never going to call them again. My experience with them hasn't been good.

I could pick my own service techs with AFC. However, my claim submission didn't go as well as I hoped it would. They had stipulations with the AC unit. There was a hidden clause that said I had to show that I had it serviced or had the underneath cleaned prior to being on warranty, but then not everybody, like me, does routine AC work. So when it came to my claim, they said the item is covered but because the system is so old, they had to prorate it. They only gave me back partial money for the repair, even though the repair wasn’t based on the age of the system - it was because it was super hot outside, we had a heat wave and the AC overheated. It was frustrating.

However, it was a little difficult because I wasn't aware of some of the stipulations in my contract. I just wished that they had explained further in detail when I first got the policy. I could have been prepared when my AC went out and have known what would have been covered and what was not. It wasn't explained beforehand, it was explained when I had the problem. We weren't able to get technicians to come out in a lot of the appliance issues that we have. In one case, we've had to purchase a washing machine and we were told that we would be reimbursed but we never were. We had a problem with our refrigerator and the technician said it needed a main computer and another computer part. However, we couldn't get in touch with him after a week. I had no refrigerator at all, so all our food went bad. America's 1st Choice got another technician to come in and said that the main computer board had gone bad and that I also needed a new ice maker. The board was covered but not the new ice maker. That was an issue because that was a $200 that we had to pay. Our biggest issue is not making sure that everything that we thought was covered is actually covered.

I'm a real estate agent and I've had other warranty companies. As far as I can tell right now, America's 1st Choice is not the first one that I would recommend to any of my clients. I usually call whenever I submit a claim. Some of the other warranty companies have very user friendly sites, and I thought of going online but I wasn't able to do it with America's 1st Choice.

AFC Home Club's claim process is pretty self-explanatory. However, there are some hidden things that I didn't know. For example, on the pool they'll cover up to $500 a year only. And once I hit the $500, I'm done for the year. I also went to call for service on my air conditioner but before I could do that I had to prove that I've had my air conditioner serviced, which kind of makes no sense, because I didn't know that. So therefore I had my air conditioner serviced with another company and I was gonna have to call AFC Home Club. Their customers need to be made more aware of how the process will go, what's covered, how much covered. These are the things that AFC Home Club should let us know from the beginning.

Regarding the contractors sent by them, we had one contractor from the pool that was horrible. We'll never have them come back. We called AFC Home Club and they worked with us and now what we do is we find our own technician and then AFC Home Club goes ahead and pays for it. But on the electrical and the plumbing that they sent, the contractors were really good.

Our first claim was a little rocky on the part of the contractor, but once I brought that to their attention, they kept a closer eye on it and made sure everything was squared away. AFC's claims representative was wonderful. I called on a Friday for a closed dryer malfunction.

The contractor came on time but there was a miscommunication. He was under the impression that AFC was gonna call me back after his assessment to schedule the repair. However AFC said it never happened that way, but they had only worked with this contractor for a couple of times and that they'll have to educate him on the flow of information. It was supposed to be that once he assesses the issue, he calls us back and they give him the authorization, then he should work directly with the us, the homeowners, or get back in touch with them to reschedule. It's great that AFC is 100 percent forthcoming, whereas a lot of people would have blamed it on something else.

Once I got back in touch with AFC to let them know and we got the service scheduled, the lady that called said that she'll follow up through the whole thing. She called me after the repair guy called back to schedule the repair itself. Then she called me the next day about 15 minutes after he left, to make sure everything was in good and working order. It was a good experience.

A few times AFC Home Club told me that they don’t have any vendors in our area to service a particular claim. So I haven’t been happy with it.

They need to expand their network and actually be a home warranty company. I've done a lot of claims before for something that’s not working and they go, “We don’t have anybody.” Then it’s like, “Okay. Well then, you can go out on your own and then we can reimburse you.” Then why did I contract with them? It’s disappointing. I don’t think that they’re as world-class as the experience that we had with American Shield. For a little extra cost, at least we knew that we were getting the service that we were contracting for. This is my first service call. It is related to a leaking problem in my toilet. It took less than 48 hours to get the work done. I am very satisfied with the customer service and work completed. Thank you for the quick service.

Their customer service, in my opinion, is a highlight of my experience. It is AWESOME! They are always so helpful and so willing to help! And their help is relevant to my needs. The coverage is about the same as all the others. It nothing over the top, and nothing super minimal, it is just enough to meet my needs. In this case, you get what you paid for (in a good way). It is pricey, however the quality, durability and resistance I could not ask for more! They are very easy to reach. Whether it be with a phone call or a visit to my nearest location. And they are kind and hire great people to work for them

The service is amazing! I can't deny the fact that they are very responsive and is willing to help me doing the whole process. In fact they call me to follow up what other needs I want. I would love to recommend this company because it gives me satisfaction and guarantee for the coverage they given to me. I am a happy customer with them. I would love to recommend this company because the value of their homes is pretty reasonable and is worth it. The money you paid for it you won't regret for the services and helpful employees they had. I would love to recommend this company because their homes are all accessible to malls, shops, or even restaurants. So everything is excellent and for me, no company can beat that.

They were wonderful. They were caring, helpful, kind, and they answered all my questions without hesitation or rudeness. If I had any concerns they helped me through it and I would definitely recommend them and this product to anyone out there. The coverage is great. I get monthly bills and if I ever have to miss a payment they work with me to make sure I can keep it. I have had this product for three years and I'm still using it. The value is great and you get coverage on everything. And anytime you want to change anything it is so easy. The company is very great. Everything is how it is supposed to. I really like this. The accessibility is great.

The customer service left me impressed with the company. I would recommend because the customer service was great. They were understanding and patient. Although the coverage was not the best, I was satisfied enough. It is a good company (I sense they are moving in a new direction) and I was happy with the value of what I paid for. The accessibility and the customer service is the best thing about this service.

Almost 45 days ago I bought my homeowner warranty from (AFC) AMERICA'S FIRST CHOICE HOME CLUB for my house that I bought it two months ago. Six days ago, I called them to file a claim for my AC unit that placed on the roof, but they said to sending any technician I had to provide my annual maintenance invoice, but I just bought this home two months ago that was my reason to buy the home protection. Anyway fortunately before buying the house I had my inspection report that AC was in a working condition and I got a maintenance invoice form my realtor before closing the deal and I sent it to AFC.

They called and said I need to call Comfort Zone company to get appointment and I did but after suffering 110 degree hot temperature in LA for SIX days they said technician is coming to my home today (Friday 7/29/2016) so I called to confirm with Comfort Zone. After several times calling and almost one hour waiting on the line (I have all document to prove them) they said I need to wait for them to call me but around 4:00 pm I called them to ask "so what happened" and they said AFC gave them wrong number and I need to wait four more days to be rescheduled and suffering hot weather just for technician to check it.

Even they didn't give me a copy of the technician's license to provide to my HOA and it caused me to fight with HOA member, because I had to provide it to them as their policy says. Finally, I called AFC - it was their response "you are more than welcome to call your own technician". I'm still waiting for AFC to call me, I think it takes forever. I have a lot of emails and document about them.

We had the same experience others have reported already. The first time we tried to use the policy for our water heater we had difficulty reaching the company, repeatedly got the message service, and were finally told that since it was 13 years old they "depreciate" the appliance and it's worth nothing. But they would be willing to give us a "good will" gesture in the amount of $150 AFTER we send them a receipt showing we paid for the replacement of our water heater ourselves. Their policy on replacement is NOT explained by the sales people and if you call and ask if they replace appliances they answer "yes", so I believe they are false advertising their service and intend to report to the BBB.

I purchased 3 years of service because of the better annual rate. Received the documents and looked at the fine print, googled the topic of home warranties and decided to cancel. Emailed Craig to cancel and no response so have opened a charge dispute with my credit card. Hope that works. My impressions of dealing with Craig, my "personal representative" is that his job is to sell policies, not to provide service after the sale.

Note that this company says on their website that they are number 1 in all categories and provides a link to this website. But when you follow the link it is to a different company. AFC is no way near number 1 on this review website. AFC is publishing a lie on their website. READ THE FINE PRINT. Example of the fine print: I noticed that they can decline to cover your AC and furnace if you do not pay for annual maintenance service call.

I have never paid to have someone come to my home to tell me that things are ok and charge me for a filter. I just buy my own filters and know when things are not ok. On my last house I bought a new furnace on EBay and replaced it myself. A 2,000 sq ft home, bought a new high efficiency gas furnace for $450 including shipping. If I had hired it, done it, would have cost over $2,000.

I'd give this company a negative review, if possible. On June 5, 2016 I created a claim for my GE gas oven. The oven wouldn't light. No one at AFC called me about the claim, so I called them the following Saturday, June 11. Their answering service took the call and was eventually able to get in touch with someone at AFC who told them they found a repair shop who would be contacting me to set up an appointment.

On the following Monday, June 13, after hearing nothing back from AFC or the repair shop, I called AFC again. The AFC rep gave me the phone number and contact name at the repair shop and told me to call them to arrange an appointment. When I called the shop the contact they gave me said she had never heard of AFC and AFC couldn't have spoken with her because she had been on vacation for 2 weeks. So, I called AFC back and they said they would find another repair shop and call me back with the information. They actually called back and left a message with the number and contact name of another repair shop, so I called the new repair shop, spoke directly with the contact, and again, the contact said he had never heard of AFC and didn't know what I was talking about.

I called AFC back that same evening and they said they would find another repair shop and call me back with the information (sound familiar?). They never called back, so I called again and was told that they would get back to me when they had a new repair shop. Since I had received no call from them on the next day (June 14) at 2:30 in the afternoon to find out what was going on and they gave me the name, number, and contact of latest repair shop. When I called, the repair shop contact had to ask me what appliance I was calling about and how they were going to get paid. She then said she would find out when they were available to do the work and call me back. Well, at least this shop called me back. To say they had no openings. Ever.

Once again, I'm forced to call AFC. I get the answering service. This time, though, no one at AFC calls me back, so I call them today, (June 15). The "Claims Manager" gets on the phone and says she's going to personally find a shop for me. After listening to Phil Collins "Against All Odds" for 20 minutes (again), she tells me they can't find anyone in my area that's willing to work with AFC (I wonder why). She says she found a shop that will do the work, but I'll have to pay the shop and then get AFC to reimburse me. No thanks. I have absolutely no reason to trust this company. I asked for a refund and was told I'd have to send a letter in requesting my contract be canceled. Of course, the amount of my refund will be prorated. What a great deal for AFC. I purchased the contract in September 2015 and this was the first time I'd actually tried to use the service. STAY AWAY!!!

I have had NO claims and then my washing machine starting making a lot of noise and washed poorly. I called AFC. Their response after me paying the 'service call' that the machine was too old and they have depreciation policy. So they were not willing to REPAIR IT!!! BEWARE OF AFC. They are a **. Obviously, if I had NEW appliances, I wouldn't need a home warranty policy.

I am not one to normally write reviews. I am a simple person who just wants to get what they pay for and I believe in Karma. I needed to tell other about this company so they too can experience what it is like to have someone stand up to their word, which is not normal these days. I called AFC about 2pm when it got real hot here about a week ago. My house was 79 degrees and my pregnant wife was about to have a fit. They had the tech at my door within 3 hours, be it this was a heat wave and he was still there that day! He was working on the unit for about 2 hours and it ended up needed quite the repair, when all was said and done what was asked of me? NOTHING ALL I PAID WAS $60.00 deductible and he was on his way. I couldn't believe how simple it really was. (Guess I am a skeptic.) I would highly recommend them to anyone I know, my house has been cool since.

Please don't deal with this home appliance insurance company. I bought a Gold package that was supposed to cover any appliances in my home in case they break down but it was a big mistake because when I filed a claim they did not replace my refrigerator even after a certified technician confirmed that it was unrepairable. They sold me their services without telling me they don't have contracts with any technicians in my area. I was the one who looked for a technician and paid the service fee out of my pocket. None of the technicians in my area would deal with them.
