    My mother is elderly and she needs the walk-in tub. My brother purchased the American Standard and then we had an issue with the whole electrical board. It broke down where there was a problem with the jets and the tub would not drain properly. It was in warranty so we called and they had the part shipped. We had to call them back again and tell them that we have received the parts, and then they had somebody else to call and show up. There was a little issue with that person calling back, but then the guy called and apologized, showed up, and fixed it. It took a couple weeks to resolve, but that was more of a labor issue. Now, everything has been fine.

    The walk-in tub is decent and my mother is happy with it. But what I don't like about it is the concept of getting in and out. Because when you get in it and sit down, you're already nude in the tub, but you still have to wait for the tub to fill up with water. You're already cold when the water starts, which I'm not sure if it can be avoided. Still, my mother is 92 and she tolerates it well. She certainly couldn't get in and out of a regular tub, so a walk-in tub is a good option for older people who like tubs. Also, the American Standar walk-in tub has good jets.

    American Standard's installation team was in-and-out. They did a good job and cleaned up after themselves. Everything was very professional. The tub was for my mom and before she had a stroke, she was afraid she was gonna trip over the edge of the tub anyway even though it wasn't that high. Still the tub worked fine.

    I had the American Standard tub for a couple of year before the paint began peeling around the door and was chipping at the handle and top corners on the entrance to the tub. American Standard said it was under warranty and said they would repair. That promise was made about a year and half ago and work has never started. Their excuse is that they do not have a repair company in my area and they need to find someone. Hard to believe that an area like the San Francisco Bay Area would not have a rep. I have tried 7 to 8 times during the year and a half and each time they promised that they will find someone. DO NOT BUY THIS TUB IF YOU LIVE IN THE SF BAY AREA. Not sure about other parts of the country. And why would the paint peel on the door? Poor quality or poor design?

    Updated on 10/31/2019: We purchased an American Standard Liberation walk-in tub on June 27, 2019. We had several initial problems: Jet adjustments were incorrect and only worked on one side of the tub. The installer finally came to fix the jets and had to make calls to find out the procedure. Next: the air system came on all by its own. I was in the tub, but nowhere close to the control panel. The tub was filing at the time and did not cover all the air jets. Water sprayed all over the bathroom. Then the air system would not turn off. My wife after a longer than useful time and soaked to the skin with sprayed water, went to the circuit box and tripped the breaker to stop the air system. She did not know where the breaker box was or how to do anything electrical without my instruction. We are both 82 years old and not very mobile. I couldn't get out of the tub because it was half full of water.

    Repair technicians replaced the control panel, and the jet control unit since the lever had been glued on, apparently by a previous owner. WE PAID for a NEW tub. We have installation errors that remain undone after 4 months. Upon calling American Standard Customer Service several times and waiting on hold from 33-45 minutes. After wasting interminable time, I left a call back number each time but failed to get a call every time. The serial number and manufacture date are affixed to a pipe by a cable tie and completed by hand. Any person could put any serial number and any manufacture date on our tub to cover up that the tub was a previously owned tub. The manufacture date was supposedly in the same month as the installation date--Feb. 2019.

    The panel cover had lots of rust on the lower brackets. The jet lever on the control system fell off and had been glued on by ??. There was a dried bead in the aroma therapy bead container that was a different color that we had ever used. The faucet handles were loose. With installation, the tub cost over $17,000. A very costly pig in a poke. I am certain that a fraudulent sale took place, both by Safety Tubs Company, LLC and American Standard Walk-in tubs Company. I will await a response from all parties involved in this misrepresentation before taking further action. Wes

    Original Review: Purchase date: 6/27/2019. My wife and I are 82 years of age. In negotiating entry and exit from our full sized jacuzzi bathtub was causing safety and convenience issues. Although the installed price exceeded $17,000, we decided the price of what we thought would be a better, safer, option was worth it. THE LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THE TUB, SERVICE, AND INSTALLATION WAS A MAJOR SELLING POINT. The installation took the better part of two days. My first use of the tub resulted in some surprises.

    *I had asked the sales agent for the INSIDE length of the tub. I was quoted 51 inches. It turned out to be about 44 inches. 51 inches was the Outside length. I am 6+ ft. tall; the tub is too short to consider having my head even near the head rest. Half of my upper body is out of the water. *Second surprise was the length of time to fill the tub. While sitting in a cold tub, naked and almost shivering with a cold rear. I prayed that the tub would finally fill. *The functions did work as advertised (air & water jets, fast drain, lights, etc.) The installer could not find a suitable place for the out-of-tub grab bar, so he gave us a grab bar still in the box. Exiting the tub with the single in-tub grab bar is difficult but doable at present. As we get older - maybe not.

    *Next issue is that the lever on the water jet control fell off after the first week. We're still awaiting repair. The installer indicated he would have some proper glue sent to us for a do-it-yourself fix- but nothing showed up. *Next issue was that I discovered a half inch gap between the tub and the wall/window. If any small item fell into the gap it is lost forever. These issues have been reported to customer service and are awaiting repair. *We had assumed the "free" toilet would be a standard fixture like the one in the advertisement. Instead, we received one with a smaller, lower than expected seat and was equipped with a bidet. No one explained the features of the bidet. We never saw the toilet until it was installed.

    *I admit that we should have recognized some of the disadvantages of walk-in tubs, such as waiting for the tub to fill while sitting in a cold tub,then waiting for the warm water to finally cover at least part of our body. Some of the features such as a heated seat, fast fill, and door that is larger and opens outward might, or might not have been available at the time of our purchase when our order was placed. Our walk-in tub is certainly usable at present. The door seal is leak proof at present, and functions are working as advertised. There are small inconveniences as well as the larger ones which can and should be changed.

    *In conclusion, we recommend that the buyer consider carefully the disadvantages as well as advantages of walk-in tubs. Using standard tubs for most of our lives inhibits recognizing some issues that should come to mind - but don't. I have enumerated some. Review the specifications carefully. Do not depend on sales agent quoted specifications. After using our American Standard walk-in tub for two months, We should have looked at additional suppliers. At this time, I am doubtful that we would have selected this walk-in tub. Major bath changes are EXPENSIVE. They require more study than we gave our decision and selection.

    My wife's granddad worked for American Standard years ago so we got a walk-in tub from them. However, our tub is not what we thought it was. The doorway is too small. The tub has a square door instead of that flip-flop door that they got on there, and the seat is not heated like the ad says. Also, the tub is not as big as it could be. It’s a big outside shell, but it’s a small interior. It’s not what it’s bragged up to be. The salesperson didn’t do his job like he should have. He should’ve showed us a brochure of all the different models that they had instead of one model.

    The installation team seemed to know what they were doing and one installer was very good, but the other installer did as little as possible because he was too anxious to get back to his cigarette. He just opted to plug the seat into a wall outlet that was already there, instead of putting it in the back of the toilet which is where it was supposed to have been. Also, we need a new seat for the commode because it has a crack on it. It's 30 days old. That’s not normal.

    I wanted a walk-in tub and I called another company first and they came out. Then, I started checking on some other companies, and I found out that American Standard had a lot more jets than what the other company had. I wanted the jets because I had lots of health problem and I love it. When the sales rep came out, he showed me different things. He had a suitcase of things to actually show me some of the things that the other guy did not have. The installation team could not be beaten. They were absolutely wonderful and they worked very hard. They were happy and joyful the whole time. It was hard getting the tub in, but it didn't bother them a bit. They were wonderful, and the guy has been there for me to call him with any problems that I've had, anything that I didn't know about. I'm very, very pleased, and I would recommend American Standard Walk-in Tubs.

    American Standard has the name so I went with them for a walk-in bath tub. The rep I dealt with was fairly knowledgeable but she was pushy. She kept on and on, and I felt a little pressured upon. Nevertheless, the installation team was very efficient and neat. They did a very good job, and I was quite satisfied with the installation. They did it all in one day -- they didn't do it on the day they were supposed to but that was no inconvenience. Then we had the electrical work done another day.

    We’re very pleased with American Standard Walk-in Tubs. The salesperson who came out showed us the video he had with him. He gave us a very complete and detailed explanation. We’ve known American Standard for a long time, so we were confident that they would do a good job. The installation team came on two days. The Friday team that came knew exactly what to do. We had an old Jacuzzi tub in there and they cut it up. They took everything away, they cleaned up after themselves, they brought the tub in itself, and they made the connections. They were here almost all day, and they did all the electrical work, too. They were very good.     Do not buy a walk-in tub from American Standard. They way overcharge you a whole hell of a lot. They hire people that dont know anything about installing tubs electric and they charge you 18000 where the tub only cost around 5000 and the rest goes to line the upper management. If you have a complaint they will not respond or say, "We never got that". When the tub catches fire and almost burns down your house and you ask them to remove the tub and give you your money back. They say, "Well you signed a contract. We can't remove the tub". Then they let their employee sell used tubs and wont cover them when the installer tells you they will.

    We called American Standard and Greg came to visit us. He did a very good job demonstrating and telling us all about American Standard. He was very knowledgeable and he answered every question that we had. When the installation team called, they said they were gonna be through in North Carolina. They asked if they could they come on over and start then finish the next day, and we said sure. They came over and started at about 1:30 that afternoon then they finished that night at about 8:00.     I'm doing great with my American Standard walk-in tub. I know the history of American Standard and my father-in-law was a professional plumber for years, and that was always his choice for plumbing supply, so, I took that and ran with it. The reps at American Standard were very professional, very knowledgeable, very easy to talk to, on-time for their duties, and didn't interfere with anything else that was going on. The installation was great. The installers had to take out a part of the wall in order to get the tub to go in the space that I wanted it to go in. But they did that professionally and we're really proud of how it came out. I'm very satisfied, and I would recommend them to anybody that was looking for a walk-in tub.

    American Standard Walk-in Baths is made here in America so that is a big thing right there. When Brett, the salesman, came here, he was here a couple of hours and I watched a couple of videos of how the products are made, where they’re made and where the parts come from. I was quite impressed with it. It was a little on the high side of prices for me ‘cause I’m old but I felt it was worth my health so that’s why I went ahead and did it.

    We had a little problem with the inspectors for Cape Coral. First, they said it was passed then they said it was not. The plug had to be moved. It was not within a foot of the opening door so that became the little thing. The installation team was back in for about the third time and had to move the thing. They ended up putting a hole in the bedroom wall and putting a casing there, and putting it behind my dresser. I’m not sure how that made it better, but the electrician did pass it.

    I understood what they said the first time and why it had to be where if they took the panel off, it could be unplugged right away. But this way, I told them, “If anything goes wrong and I hear something crazy, I’m just going out to the panel in the garage and cut the power to the whole thing because there is no way I could unplug anything.” That was the thing that I was kinda concerned about. But the guys worked really hard to make it work, make it right. They came back a few times and so far, ever since the last time they were here which is probably over a month now, there has been no problem.

    I know of two people who really need a walk-in bath so I did put their names down and recommended them to American Standard. I see the one at work and it was for her parents but their bathroom is extremely tiny and she was afraid it wasn’t gonna work. I said, “Just have them come out and look. They will measure. They check everything. They check if you got a hot water tank and if they got room to put power lines in." The other one, she definitely needs it. Her legs are worse than mine. She barely hobbles around.

    The American Standard rep who came to our home was thorough and did a good job. The installation went very well and I was surprised on how fast the installation team did it.     We put in our American Standard tub in June but it has been pretty lousy. They didn't hang the door right and I can’t control the speed, two work and two don’t. Their product sucks. Then, they wouldn't let me talk to the president or a higher-up when I called and the rep said there was nothing they could do about it then. They’re coming in to fix it but they left me hanging for over a month and that isn't right. I’m not satisfied at all.

    A sales rep from American Standard came and he was very nice and knowledgeable. We went ahead and got the walk-in tub. I am enjoying my tub but right now, I can't use it. I'm having a little problem with it and the tech is supposed to come by next week. I had to keep pumping the drain to drain it. I also had on the form that the tub was gonna be paint-ready but it wasn't. American Standard sent me a $200 check and I finally got somebody to finish the walls so we could paint them. Still, I would recommend American Standard Walk-in Baths. In fact, I live in a condo and a lot of people want to see my tub. I have a friend who has a tub which is not American Standard and she like ours.

She knew what she was doing and so did the installation guy. He was fast. He got the tub in in one day and we got to use it the next day. My wife and I both use it quite often now.     I looked at American Standard Walk-in Baths, studied it, interviewed one of the representatives, and it appeared to me that it was what I needed at this point in time in my life. The rep did a little bit over-sell, but other than that, he had a good product, so that was okay with me. The guy who installed the tub knew exactly what to do and the installation went great. It took about four-and-a-half hours. I’m 86-years-old and what’s important to me is that the tub is safe. Also, I’ve got problems with my legs, and the jets and the air are helping me greatly. Overall, I would recommend American Standard.

    My wife fell down and broke her hip. She had a hip replacement so she will never be able to get into the shower and tub that we had. American Standard didn't have a showroom anywhere and I told their rep that I don’t buy anything over the phone because I cannot physically see the stuff. But a friend of my son-in-law had an American Standard walk-in tub so he invited me over to his house to look at it. His name is Henry. I liked what I saw with the exception that was the door opened in. There were also a couple of features that I wasn’t too happy about.

    I like to take a stand-up shower. The top of the tub is flat so any splashing that gets on it runs down on the floor. That should have been doubled inwards so the water would run back into the tub. I still got the walk-in tub and the installers were very good. They didn’t take any breaks. They got it all in in one day and cleaned up afterward. They were very professional. They did the shower surround on there and they installed a bidet toilet. All of that came with the package I got.

    The only problem was I told the salesman where Henry was and that the only reason the salesman was there was I was able to see the tub over at Henry's. He should be getting the $500 recommendation money. The salesman said that he would make sure that happened. But the last time I talked to my son-in-law, Henry still has not seen that check. I’m not happy with. It’s been long enough. That tub was also paid in full and in cash.

    Another thing is I’m six-foot-tall. The shower wand that they gave was wimpy. I was not at all happy with it. When I used that, there was not much stream coming out of there compared to the old shower that I had. I didn’t feel as clean. I like to soap and rinse off my body. I went out, bought another shower wand and put that on there. With that, I had the pressure behind it and I now feel clean when I’m done.

    The American Standard representative who came to our home was great. My parents have dementia and my dad doesn’t care what's going on around him and mom wants to be part of every little decision ‘cause she has a bit of paranoia, and he was so patient and kind with her. He answered all of my questions. When my mom asked the same questions over and over, he didn’t bat an eye.

    The installation team worked so clean. They covered everything on the floor to make sure that nothing was left dirty in our house. In the middle of them explaining some of the product to us after it was all set up, we had gotten a phone call about a death of someone we knew, and as the guy's explaining, I burst into tears thinking about it. He was very caring, kind and concerned when that happened because he had no idea what was going on. When he was doing the tub install with the shelf that they have to add on to fill the dead space between the tub and the wall, he was measuring, cutting and fitting. The shelf looked perfect, fantastic, and like it was built for our space.

    My dad is 6-foot tall, he doesn’t have very good balance, and just knowing that he's in the tub and sitting down, it's so much easier to get him in the shower and he feels safe in there. Everybody in our family has been loving it. I have two little girls and I have bad knees so when I'm washing their hair now, I can stand up and do it without having to kneel down on the floor in the bathtub and I just love that myself.

    The walk-in tub we got from American Standard Walk-in Baths. We like the fact that the tub would empty out in less than two minutes if the electricity was on. I've used the tub once and the jets felt so good on my back. When we bought it, the sales rep was very informative and the work that the installer did was exceptional. My husband walked in and said if it wasn't for the tub being there, one wouldn't know that the installers were here. They sawed a board out on my driveway and my husband was gonna go vacuum it up but it was already cleaned. They were that immaculate and proficient. The tub and the area are absolutely beautiful.

    I was watching them all day long and was complimenting the lead man. I told him he was the exception to the rule and I'd have him remodel my house any time. He asked his helper to bring him something and when he got it, he thanked his helper. The helper was just as good. It's very seldom to have somebody come in, do work and clean it up to the point that one wouldn't know that they've been here. I've had another gentleman in since then and I knew he was here.

    I liked the tub design of American Standard. I got one with a door that opens out and a whirlpool feature. The rep whom I spoke with was very pleasant and informed. He addressed all of my questions. However, it was hard to wait three weeks for them to come out and install my tub. Even so, the installation team who came was very knowledgeable and took care of what they were doing. They were very thorough and didn't damage anything while getting the tub in. They cleaned up too and I couldn't even tell they were there other than the fact that the tub was installed. Now, it looks great and I'm very happy with it.     I like the fact that American Standard is made entirely in the United States, outside of Dallas, Texas. The other companies we looked at were Jacuzzi and Kohler and their sales reps were not entirely honest with us. American Standard's sales rep, on the other hand, answered every question to our satisfaction, including where the entire tub is made. He did a nice presentation and was polite. He was a very good and pleasant man. The installation team was also outstanding. They did what they said they were going to do. There was a one-day delay on the arrival of the tub to its destination but they explained that to us. The installation was schedule on a Friday and they had to say they would finish it on Saturday. But they gave us every reason in the world. They did everything – the permits that were required, the plumbing and the electrical – to our satisfaction.

    We like all the features of this tub. That’s why we bought American Standard over the two competitors we looked at. And although the other two tubs did this same thing, we especially like the power drain, which means that when you’re done, you don’t have to sit in the water while the tub drains out. It drains in two-and-a-half minutes. I have also already recommended American Standard to a number of people. But most people haven’t the foggiest idea of what a good installation and a good tub might cost. That's what holds them off. They see tubs advertised at Lowe’s and Home Depot for $6,000 and $7,000. But that’s only a scratch in the surface. The tubs aren’t nearly the same quality and there’s no installation involved when you’re buying from those places, except by installers who might be just general contractors, not specifically trained installers like American Standard has.

    I recognized American Standard as a Texas company and after I did a little investigating, I felt like it was probably a better tub because of the door. Doors in these kinds of tubs are inclined to leak. But the more I investigated and after I interfaced with the salesperson, I recognized that there’s a lifetime warranty. However, I think American Standard needs to add a standing shower. To sit in that tub for an hour, which has 70 gallons of water, is like getting in a hot tub. But when you use a hot tub, you reuse the water. With this, you do not and cannot. You cannot get out until the water’s drained. When I am hurting or I am extremely cold in the winter, I know I’m going to use it. But this is not something you do on a daily basis. One, I don't have the time and two, it’s not ecologically friendly. To use 70 gallons regularly is an absolute disgrace.

    The company needs to make it a standard thing to have the extended shower arm. I know some of the other tubs are doing that. All they have to do is add it right between the hot water spigot and the big spigot and have it adjustable, height-wise. It would be an extremely good addition. In fact, if they had that available, I would pay for that because that is my only concern. Right now, I’m using the tub just as a shower but with the handheld sprayer.

    As someone who lives in the country, I know we’re in the middle of a drought right now. I’m on a well and I have good water but I’m not going to use this except when I am in pain and I am cold. I am glad I have this and I am proud I bought it. And I would love this all the more if I had a sprayer that I could adjust so it would fall straight down into the drain area as I do other showers. Nonetheless, I have already recommended it to both my sisters. I like the warranty and I really like the salesperson who came out.

    We found out about American Standard on the internet and we liked the warranty. The interaction with the sales rep was very good and the rep was absolutely professional and courteous. During the installation, the electrician got his work done quickly. It went really good, all fine and dandy. The plumber also came and it was his assistant who came in and cut the line without turning the water off, and we had a flood in our house. So, it went into the insulation on the bottom of the house and in the plastic. They got the water shut off and dried it up but nobody went under the house to check it out. So, after they left, I had to go under the house and open up the plastic, and pull out the wet insulation. The guy who came to do the install fixed it and taped all the insulation back in and the plastic back up, and that was good.

    I didn't like is the salesman’s communication with the installer. I told them I would do the demolition. I would get the door opening wide as it should be to get the tub in. I would take out the steel shower, stall and tub that was in there. The installers didn't know that. They came without bringing the tub thinking that they had to do the demo. So, by 10:30 in the morning, everybody was outta here because they didn't have the tub. They had to go up to Port Charlotte and pick it up. I was a little disappointed about that, so that’s two strikes.

    The installer needed help getting the tub in the house. The boss and the worker never would’ve got the tub in the house and I shouldn’t have helped but did because it never would've happened. Also, Curt, the boss of the installer, told me that there was a trap in the tub, but there wasn’t. I had to go under the house and take a picture, and show it to them that there was no trap in the tub because when I flushed my toilets, you could hear the echo of all the water draining through. He said he bought a trap to put in there but his installer never put it in. He didn't let the boss know that he didn't put it in so, it was disappointing. He was a nice guy but he didn't do what he should've done. Plus, there was a piece of trim along the outside edge that was yellow right from the factory and he put it on anyway. He should've waited. Plus, the tub has cracked and it needed to be fixed.

    I should've been reimbursed some money because of how much it cost and the crap that I went through with having to go under the house and rip out the insulation. I also had to go under the house and take a picture that they didn't put a trap in. To me, it started off bad and if I would’ve known, I probably would’ve never got the tub. I was really dissatisfied right from the start and it ended up taking over three weeks to do the complete install before everything was right. It’s a very expensive tub and for the frustration we went through, it was not worth it. My wife loves the tub but the experience was not the greatest.

    I pushed American Standard's phone number on a Sunday morning and I got a pretty good fellow. I liked him a lot. But we ran into a little snag that he might have been able to see if he’d had some training. But like the installer said, that ain’t the first time they’d run into that problem. I had an electrical problem and he looked at my box and he said I was good to go, but when the installers got here, I had to have about $1,200 more work done. When we found this out, American Standard ate that $1,200 and didn’t’ pass the cost on to me. So I thought that was great of them.

    The installation took a little bit more than two-and-a-half days. I had a pretty tough install. But the overall work was top-notch. They were top-notch craftsmen. They did extremely top-drawer work and they kept me up with everything they were doing in decisions and stuff like that that needed to be made. I love the whole thing about the tub installation. I like to sit in that whirlpool with the jets and just relax.

    We were having some problems with my shower. I called American Standard and they were gonna come in and give us an estimate. But when the rep saw my shower, he said that I didn’t have enough room for a walk-in tub. He said that he could put a nice one in for my wife, though and we thought about that. I asked why wait until we get older to do it. Most accidents happen in the bathroom and I can’t tell how many older people I went to who fell in the bathroom because of their tub. So, we went ahead and changed the tub out. It was expensive, but it was worth it.

    The rep we dealt with was good though we didn't talk much. We had been seeing American Standard on TV and we were sold on it when we heard about it. So, when their guy came, he gave us an estimate and we were very satisfied with the whole deal. All the people we dealt with were good, too. The guy that installed it travels all over the country. He was quick and did not take a whole day to finish.

    We love our American Standard walk-in tub. I love taking a shower but I don’t use the shower too much in the American Standard because we don’t have a curtain on it. Then I had a foot surgery a few months ago and I was using it because it was so much safer to get in than to go in my shower. With my shower, I had a step to go over but in the American Standard walk-in tubs, I had a shorter step to go and I had something on both sides to hold on to.

    I hurt my back really bad one time and I also have a few other aches and pains because I’m really rough on my body. I do a lot of stuff and cut trees down for people. When I have those aches and pains, the bubbles help and they're really nice. We also love the free toilet we got when we bought the walk-in shower. We like that it's a little higher. We even went to Home Depot and bought another American Standard toilet just like it.

    The American Standard salesman was very nice and appeared to be knowledgeable about whatever question we had. We hadn’t had much interest in a tub, but after he was here, we decided to buy it. The installers came, put the tub in and were really fast. I asked them to extend the drainage hose because I wanted it longer so I could move it or direct it out of the yard and they couldn’t do that. But they were very respectful and they didn’t leave a big mess so they were good. The door came off once and at first, I had a hard time getting service, but I finally got a number where I could phone in to get service. Plus, every now and then, the switch flips on it and we have to reset it, but all in all, the tub has been fine. With the walk-in tub, life is much easier and I don’t have to take a chance on falling down when I take a bath.

    A friend got a tub from American Standard and told me about it. I called American Standard and I was satisfied that they were in the United States. Plus, they said there was a lifetime guarantee to fix the tub. My experience with the rep was fine. The installation took one day, but they had to come back the next day because they turned the tub and the faucets around. With more than 4 inches, the fiberglass tub is too tall for me to step up in. At that time, I was feeling pretty good, but now, my back is bad and I'm 75. I called them and told them that it is getting very difficult for me to go in. I let them make me a little step-up, but I shouldn’t have done that because it's still a little difficult for me to get off that step. I should have had them put the whole thing down where it was supposed to be, but I didn’t. I just didn’t want any more work in my house.

    American Standard is pretty good. But my other tub was better at draining from the seat. The American Standard tub should be slanted a little bit forward so that the water drains a little bit better. I also ran into a problem with the caulking around there. It was coming out and I was afraid that water was getting in the wall. I called them and they said that was only guaranteed for two years. Moreover, the paint keeps chipping off of a metal plate on the doorway. I had them replace it one time but it's off again.

But I had some trouble with getting the tub on and off and the second time, when I called them, they said they no longer worked in this area. The installation all went fine, but I wish I waited a couple of months longer because they came out with the heated seat, which would've been nice. When I got mine, they didn't have that. Plus, I have to make sure that I can get it to drain, but once it starts, it's fine.

    I needed a walk-in tub because I'm disabled now. And American Standard had the best deal with their warranties. Everybody over at American Standard has been wonderful and the installation and repairs afterwards are great. But we've had put in 40 gallons of hot water, which is about the needs of my family, and it doesn’t fill the tub. So it's cold by the time it's filled halfway. If we want a full bath, it will run it and then wait 40 minutes and run it again and then it’s full. That is something nice to know about the tub before getting one. Other than that, it’s nice to have a bath every once in a while and I’m able to sit down when I shower, so it works for me.

    I've already recommended American Standard Walk-in Baths to several people. Their rep was okay but he didn't give a whole lot of explaining in detail. The installation team seems to be fine, too. But I'm not too happy right now with my tub. The water is not going down like it should. And I'm having a hard time trying to keep it clean. Also, I need to bend over to try to clean it, and I don't have the strength in my hands to use the suction.

    American Standard has been out once to work on it and to plunge it, and it was okay for a while. We can shower and so forth. But a couple of weeks ago, the water didn't even go down. I couldn't reach the plunger. I finally put a couple towels down. And I had to open the thing up, and it poured all out of my floor because I couldn't get out and I had nobody here. Now, between my daughter and I, we managed to plunge it some. And it's on slow right now, but we had to take the drains in the clear out, and I'd be afraid to try to use it for our water.

However, I've had some trouble with the walk-in tub. I've had to have them come and work on it twice. Also, it wasn't explained to me how big of a water heater you needed with it. I have a 40-gallon water heater and I always ran out of hot water before my tub was filled up. Plus, the benefits that they sell you on aren't exactly what you get. I've had my walk-in tub for six years, but if I had to do it over again, I probably would not get it.

    We liked that American Standard cleans the pipes out. They blow them dry so there are no fungus, and that was the biggest factor in purchasing from them. My wife said that the rep was very helpful, and also, we had really good interactions with him. I had a great service with the installation team. I worked with them. We had a great time and got a lot of stuff done. My wife complains that the head rest doesn’t stay on. It’s a separate head rest. It’s only suction cup things and doesn’t work well at all. When it gets wet, it doesn’t work anymore. If they change anything, they should put a different head rest on there. Other than that, it’s easier for my wife to get in and out of the tub.

    I got disabled and I needed a walk-in tub. I got one from American Standard and I felt fine about the interaction I had with their sales rep. The price of it was fine as well but I didn't care about how long it takes to pay for it after I found out what it was about. I didn't think it would take that many years to pay it off when you can buy the tub for about $1500. Other than that, their installation team was all right. They took the other one out, but they left the floor busted up and I had to pay somebody else to come and put a new floor in. Initially, I didn't know how much it was gonna cost me. They were supposed to put a 30-inch door in but when they came out to do that, they said it couldn’t be put in. I had a 28 and they said it couldn't be done. Since then, I had somebody come out and put one in, so it could have been done. Also, I should’ve put a bigger hot water heater in, but they took off for the hot water heater I was gonna get.

    I like American Standard's warranty on their walk-in tubs. I went with one of their products and interacted well with their rep. He was very well informed with his products. Afterward, installation went well considering that their guys replaced an iron tub. It had to be broken up in order to get it out. Since then, I've been using the tub only for showering because it takes so much water. Still, it works very well for that. Also, their installer said that they would need to come back and re-caulk.

    Though my wife would recommend American Standard their installer led her to believe that he was getting a permit for the tub and the plumbing. Our city requires permit for almost anything. She found out that he did not get a permit for it, and this could likely cause a problem for us later on. The only permit was for the electrician. He got that on his own for the electrical work. I was very dissatisfied to find out that the installer did not get the permit for the tub and the plumbing. Otherwise, he did a good job, cleaned up and was nice. We were satisfied overall.

    We like our American Standard tub. The water jets are working very well since they put it in. But the tub gets a little black stuff from time to time, and we gotta fill it with bleach and cycle everything to clean it out. Other than that, it’s been a good tub. The guys that was putting the tub in were really good. My heart goes out to the working men, but their electricians are as stupid as can be.

    During the process, they said they’d be in and out in a day, and they weren't. They said all they had to do was add a little electrical box to my existing fuse box, and they didn't. And it took two or three days before they finally got it finished, but they got my electricity back on by adding a smaller gauge wire to the tub. And they blew up our dishwasher. While we were outside, while the electricity was off and the electrician was hooking up the tub, we heard a big bang, and apparently, that was when our dishwasher blew up. And when we finally got power, that was when we found out that it wasn’t working. So, we had to go buy a new one. We told them that he had blown it up. And when we bought the new one and got it put in, it blew up too. So, they only replaced the new one, but they didn't give us anything on the one that we already had. We had to pay out of our pocket to get us another dishwasher to start with because they blew it up.

    We were redoing our bathroom and American Standard has always been the leader. We got a quote from them and it was the most expensive one but we decided to go with it. We had their installers come in and install the tub, and get everything fixed up and operational. I fixed everything up with the drains and the water. All they had to do was tie it in to those things and they did it in one day. The installers were good folks and they knew their product. They knew how to install it and the finished job was very well. It looks professional.

    The tub is excellent but I would like to be able to get my shoulders under the water. I’m 5’8” and I weigh around 200 points. If I squat down in the deep part of the tub, I almost get Charley horse in my legs. I am not able to get in and get the full effect of the tub all the way across my torso. With the deep part of the tub being three or four inches longer, it would make it fairly easier for somebody to get on his knees in the deep part but you have to be a fairly small person to do that. If you wanna sit there and let it do anything else, it’s one thing. It’s not a tub to take a bath in. The tub is for relieving soreness and it works good.

    A lot of times, our family come in tired, take a shower, sit down and watch the news. So, we don’t use the tub every day. It is more of a therapeutic use for us and not a daily shower type of thing. Right now, I’m 78 and my wife will soon be 70. So, we’re looking forward to a lot of years enjoying the tub even more than we do now. We’re going to be older and the tub will fit old, tired people better than the fairly mobile person that’s working the little jobs around the house. It’s certainly a good circulating tub. It pumps the water out and it blows the water out on the drain after five minutes. All of those things add up to greater quality than a lot of the other tubs that are out there.

    I have MS and I had concerns about getting in and out of a tub. I wanted a walk-in tub and the American Standard sales rep was very nice. I was impressed that he said he could take care of the plumbing problems that we had if he installed it and he included that in the price. However, the installer didn’t know anything about it, and he came and expected to install it. The installer acted like he disliked me very much for even thinking that the sales people would do that. He said that they don’t know what the installers can do. Also, he expected to do it all in a day and then, he made appointments to come back and he didn’t come back. I called and nothing was done.

    I called the salesperson and she was shocked to hear what was happening. She called in and then, they finally did something and it was a couple of months before they were finished. I was disappointed. It was a terrible experience and I was wishing that I never even heard of them. When you make appointments, you stay home to have them do it and then they don’t come in, don’t call, and don’t even have an excuse for not calling, it was just like they didn’t wanna do it. So, it was a terrible experience.

    The installer had another helper to start with and one day, I told them that I was gonna be gone. I came home and there was another girl sitting in my living room, playing with her telephone. They said that was the installer’s wife. I was missing a Waterford candy bowl after that day and I was a little upset by that. They paid me for it but it was something I would rather have had the candy bowl than the amount that they gave me for it. You don’t bring other people in when you're doing work on a house. They must’ve fired the installer because he never came.

    The first guy who came back had to do the work and he said he didn’t do that kinda work. It was his helper that did all the refinishing and stuff. Also, when the installers tried working down the basement to do a little bit of work, they tore out the wall and I didn’t realize until way afterwards that they tore out the wall in the kitchen. It was behind the stove and it’s still sitting there all torn out in a mess. If we ever sell the house and somebody looks at that, that’s not too good. We have a nice plaster in our house and so I told them they had to at least put some drywall to cover up where they tore out the wall on the stairs going down to the basement. So, they did that and then whatever they do to plaster over it. I looked at it and I told them that was not satisfactory. It was a terrible job and it was too messy, so they redid it. It was better but I had to paint over it. They weren’t gonna do that.

    The installers also knocked off the light in the closet on the other side of the tub and it messed up the electricity. The electricity still doesn’t work right. Sometimes it goes on, sometimes it doesn’t. So, I keep switching the switch back-and-forth a few times and it would finally work but I’m 81 years old. I have a hard time redoing the electricity myself. I had some problems where I had to call them back, but the tub is working fine now. However, in order to get all the way in, I have to sit down on the very bottom of the tub. It just hits halfway up your back instead of being able to really enjoy a nice, soaking tub. Also, it just kinda sprays all over the place and if you put it all the way up, it sprays out into the room. So, it was not what I expected, but I’m still able to sit in the very bottom of it and enjoy soaking.

    The toilet is very nice and that was a good addition. I asked them if they could put in the toilet because they only worked half a day that first day when I thought they were gonna finish. They said they wouldn’t do that because they wanna do all the caulking at the same time. When they were finished, I went and looked at the toilet and they hadn’t even done the caulking. So, I had to tell them they have to do that first before they leave. The installer was terrible. He was not anybody I would recommend. The plumbing is good now. My son put in the pipes up to the point of where they all had to do was put them in. I told them they had to put in a three-quarter inch pipe and they came in with a half-inch pipe. They didn’t like it at all that I was insistent on the bigger pipe but I'm glad I did because we really have good water pressure up there now.

    American Standard is an old-line company, and I felt comfortable dealing with them. However, the salesperson lost the first check that I sent. It was lost in the transition from him to the home office. It was voided and I had to go to the bank and have them make out another check. There were, unfortunately, some goof ups, but it had nothing to do with the tub. And the people at the office were very nice and handled it very professionally.

    The installation was good. The team carried out their task quite well. We had to call back because there were some problems with the way it was installed in terms of a few things. Other than that, once we got it straightened out, it was great and still is. The tub is special and we all like it. My wife and I take a bath in it once a day. She has a balance problem, and I had to make a choice of getting a tub. I decided to go for all the bells and whistles, and it made a lot of sense. She has a full use of the second floor and can take a bath by herself. I feel comfortable with her going into the bathtub and into the bathroom. I wish they were cheaper, but it’s worth the investment. It's been a great experience with American Standard.

    We have had American Standard's toilet and we knew that it was a pretty good company. It is a company that’s been around for a long time. The tub itself is fine and it is very safe. You get a lot of things like the faucets or the side. Also, the chair is close. I would recommend it. But we have had some problems with it because of the way it was put in. One is that, when you step out of the tub, they didn’t put the tile up to the tub. Instead, they put a piece of wood and it is unsafe. Also, they didn’t put it up to the wall on the left-hand side and they put a piece of wood there.

    Water gathers in this wood. For some reason or other, they put the ceiling down and put a really poor job around it. We had a shower there before and instead of making the roof of the tub back to where the shower was, they put it down about three or four inches.     My wife and I are both 70 plus years old. She has severe arthritis and I have a hip injury and we needed a tub that we can access easier without having to raise our feet up too high. We purchased with American Standard and the customer service at this time is poor. They shortcutted the electrical installation. My house is an older house and they didn't tell me that it didn't have a circuit breaker for my panel. So, they tagged on to a circuit breaker for my swimming pool. If we run the swimming pool pump and the bathtub at the same time, it will blow the circuit. They halfway did the job. Also, they didn't put a support on the wall surround that they installed. It's sagging and allowing water to enter the edges of it. And the tub doesn't work properly because the heating unit is not working on it, probably due to the wiring. In general, I'm really dissatisfied with everything going on.

    My husband loved the experience with American Standard. He decided to get the tub from what he saw on the television. He needed it badly, not at the time he got it, but it did him some good when he got it later on. The tub helped tremendously because he had two strokes and he was very sick. The tub was great to step in. He was on a walker so, the tub did him justice.

    As for the customer service, we would have thought we knew the guy who came out forever. We sat and talked long. He talked us into getting the tub. He was a great salesman with a great personality. Two other people came out and installed the tub. They were great too. They explained everything they were doing and it didn’t take them very long. My husband passed in January and I use the tub myself now. The tub is good. My family said they needed to get it, too.

    I have a lot of pain problems and I couldn't get in the tub because I couldn't get out. So, I went and got a walk-in tub. I went to this company but they ripped me off and I got ripped almost $6,000. That was when I saw American Standard. I called their rep and he was very pleasant. He presented everything to me and he did a very good job. That was why I went with them.

    Then, the contractors came up and did a good job as well but they had to widen the door and that left a three-inch open on one side and two inches on the other. There's a hole in my floor. I knew they had another job and they were trying to make their deadline. I was kinda lenient with them thinking they would come back but they did not come back and finish it. I got ceramic tile all through my house and I could have had it done, but I feel it's not right that I pay to have a carpenter to come in here and do that when they should come back and send somebody here to do it. All they have to do is get the tile cutter and put the other piece right across the threshold. Also, they never sent me my receipt. I had my check but nothing to show the warranty that I got what I got from American Standard's rep.

    But other than that, I love everything about the tub including the lights. And I like the aroma thing that you put in the bath. I have to get used to adjusting the water, though. I have a hard time doing that because I don't like it really hot, but I have to get it hot enough for the flow. Also, I wish my bathroom was a little bigger where I could have had a little longer one with my long legs. But it's a nice tub and I'm happy with it. It makes me like a lightweight. I just wanna go lay down. It's that kind of mood. I tell people about American Standard all the time, "You would wish you have one." And when I tell them about it, they say, "Oh, I wish I had one of them." It's just like a spa, a Jacuzzi, and all that rolled in one. It's not just for old people, like people think. It's for anyone.

    My wife is in pretty bad shape. She had been wanting a walk-in tub for a while and I looked for the best one I could find. I know American Standard has the best. We got their walk-in tub for a Valentine’s Day and it has been with us for three years. Our sales rep was a very good one who explained everything all the way. The installation team was great too. But we had one problem. We broke the diverter knob that controls the air, told American Standard about it, and had the parts within about two days. Their people used SharkBites to hook up to my plumbing and they had to come all the way down here to fix a problem because it was flooding outside. It was going right through the wall. They put SharkBites back on and everybody knows that SharkBites don’t last forever. Other than that, the walk-in tub is a great product and it would probably outlast us. We use it every day. I recommended American Standard.

    My wife needed a walk-in tub so we called American Standard and got one. We chose them for name recognition. They always advertised about walk-in tubs on television. Their rep gave us the price and I told them to put the tub in. That was very simple. The installers did very well and they did the job in one day. But there was a situation. We have a two-story house and the tub is upstairs on the second floor. We had a leak coming down into the room downstairs. I called American Standard and they sent somebody out. They checked it out but it wasn't anything to do with the tub. The seal from the tub to the wall might have been a little loose or maybe settled. Somebody got in and splashed around a little bit, water went down to the side and it started to leak.

    Also, if that door could have been a little bit wider, that would have been a great idea. The door is not wide on the bottom but wider on the top. If it could be a little lower, once you could step over it, that would be perfect. My wife has dementia and she needs help bathing. She is a heavyset woman and to get her through the walk-in tub's door, she's gotta hold on a little bit. She's afraid to step over the ledge. If the tub was also just a little bigger, that would be my favorite feature. I would have gone in the tub with her. I'm trying to help her wash from the outside the tub and it's a little difficult. Despite those problems, I liked that American Standard came out and fixed our issue right away. In construction, nothing goes in perfectly for a long time such as the settling problems we got.

    I was very pleased with American Standard. We like what they were offering. You don’t normally hear of a lifetime warranty on labor, and that persuaded us to go with them. But not only that, we already had an American Standard toilet, and we were pleased with it. The installation team was very neat and clean as well. My husband had some back issues, and that was one of the main reasons we got the tub. The spa in the tub seemed to help his back. But there is one complaint I have. One of the things that they should tell their customers is that a 50-gallon water heater does not fill up that tub. That is the only bad thing. I was very disappointed because we run out of hot water. We had just gotten the water tank before that tub was installed, so there was no need to get a new one. And they didn’t tell us that a 50-gallon water heater wasn’t gonna really fill that tub. I would advise that they mention that to people when they come out and talk to them.

    We called American Standard up and a guy came out and he sold us. It was a good presentation and we bought the tub. I think we could have gotten a better price but it's a good deal and it's just fine. The tub was mounted a little differently during installation but at any rate, it has worked out fine because we've redone the whole bathroom. Also, the little gray pillow that you put your head against keeps coming off. When the repair guy was out before, he said he would give us one and then it stuck on, so it's stuck. But since then, it drops off and we just plug it on again. We would like a new one and if they can do anything about that, that would be great. Other than that, it has been very good so far.

    I like the tub from American Standard. My wife liked it, too. It was bought for her. She had a stroke and it got to where I couldn't bathe her anymore. I put her in a chair in the shower. It got to where she couldn't stand up and our bathroom was really small. We had to have the door open to be able to get her in the tub. It's hard when somebody can't get in there. You gotta have a wheelchair in there too and you gotta have access to be able to get her out. We had to change the door, and American Standard put a sliding door in there. They accommodated everything.

    The salesman was excellent and the lady that came was very helpful. Even the man that came in and installed it was terrific. We were inexperienced and had no idea what it was like. Both of them that introduced us to the tub and the one that installed it knew the tub. She set it up to have a tub and when the installer came, he said, "I don't think you're gonna be happy with this." He named out some reasons and it made sense. Everything that we had worked out fine. My wife has passed away but she really loved it. She was happy. It was worth no money just to make her happy. The only thing I'm concerned about now is if the warranty is still good considering I'm the one who bought it.

    The first guy that American Standard sent to do the installation didn’t do it well. He didn’t complete it. He left things laying undone and he had the tub sitting too high off the floor. He also left my toilet so that it wobbled. They had to enlarge the door frame and take off the towel rack and paper holder, and he left the holes in the wall. He left the filler piece to make up the room for where the old tub was. He didn’t even have that filler piece with him, so he left that open and told me it was gonna be a week before he got it fixed. The worst is the plumbing. He didn’t have the piping done right so the tub wouldn’t fill very well. I had a plumber here at the same time because I had my plumbing re-piped from my garage to that bathroom. When the plumber told him he didn’t think it was done right, he told him that was the way it had to be.

    I called and told American Standard that I didn’t want this guy back and they sent another group in. These guys were wonderful. They ended up having to take the tub out and reinstall it. They fixed everything and they went over a little bit out more by putting down new tiles because of the mess that the other guy had made of my floor. And they did it all in one day. They worked very well together. The American Standard walk-in tub has a better overall system than others. I'm extremely happy that American Standard has a lifetime guarantee on parts and labor. The labor part is special since not too many people guarantee that.

    My wife has a neuropathy and I got the American Standard walk-in tub for her. I like its features and I like the Standard brand. I’ve known about that for years, so I was comfortable with the history behind it when I decided to purchase from them. I had a good interaction with the sales rep who came out and he told me the features of the tub. But I already knew what I wanted and he didn't have to sell it to me. In fact, I wanna pay for two months each time, so instead of 10 years, I’ll pay it off in 5 years. The installers were great as well. Those guys came up from New Orleans, Louisiana and they were very polite and professional.

    But there was one little thing that wasn’t right. We asked them to take it out and level it up and they took care of that. I’ve also got a couple of small issues that I have taken care of and I haven’t called about them. The coating on the handle of the door has come off and on that top piece of the door where there is metal underneath, it looks like some of the plastic coating has come off of it, too. But I can use the tub and I like the jets. I don’t need it as much as my wife does as I’m active and get around well. But she is not as active as I am and she’s had some health issues. She gets in it every day and it's a total classic. I always run warm water in it before I get in and get warm water up on the seat where I’m not sitting down on my toes. I see that one brand offers a heated seat and that would be nice to have. Other than that, I'm well-satisfied with our American Standard tub.

    There was a guy that was at our house whose wife had an American Standard tub. The company had a good deal on senior discounts. I have had back problems and they worked with me to get a good price on their tub. Their salesperson walked through with us and explained everything like how the walk-in tub was gonna get put in, how to go about getting it and how it works. He was great. The entire process took about one week because the installers had to take off some doors and they had to get the room and the plumbing ready for the tub. The walk-in tub works really well for me because it keeps my back and my leg stimulated. The tub has two different kinds of jets. One is the leg and back jets and the other is the air jet.     I had back surgery and had not been able to get down in a bathtub again. My husband and I replaced our Jacuzzi tub with the American Standard Walk-In Tub and it has been wonderful. American Standard is American Standard. We have had other of their commodes and American Standard sinks in different houses that we’ve been in and I thought it was a good company.

    Their in-home sales rep wasn’t pushy which was a big point with me. He just explained everything, pulled out his book, and talked to us about the tub. He was also very kind and it was easy dealing with him. Then, the installation went well. The only thing was that we live in a little golf community and we didn’t know we had to have approval by an inspector to be sure that things that are put in our home are put properly. But it all worked out well and the installation was done properly. Three people came and they all worked together, carpentry-wise and plumbing-wise, and it didn't take that long. Also, they put it in there so that I can have my tile man come and retile around the whole thing. It went like a dream.

    The tub is perfect for us. I have the handle wash if I wanna use the spray and if I couldn't just sit in the tub very long. Then, I had a little problem with the jets not flowing very well. I called the company and they gave me a number. It was the fella that had put my tub in. He told me exactly what to do and how to pop something out and clean out the little thing so that I didn’t have to have somebody which I was worried about. But I did it myself and he just talked me through the whole thing, so it was great.

    I had recommended it to some friends that I know have problems in getting older. I told them they need to look into my tub and see if it’s something that they think they could use. Some bathrooms are so small, they wouldn’t fit in there, but if you had the room to put one in, it is wonderful. We had just added on to the house and enlarged my bathroom so it just was perfect.

American Standard was very professional. They did a great job and the installers finished the project in one day. They cleaned up well. They did a very clean job, and they went about their work very professionally.

    Whenever I needed customer service, I could just call their customer service 800 line, and they were always extremely helpful and very prompt in getting back to me on a call if they didn’t answer right away.     My husband makes his decisions about things like this very carefully. He doesn't let anybody talk him into anything. He was very impressed with the fact American Standard's rep was not pushy. The other company's salesman was very pushy. American Standard's rep was very accommodating and completely understood our need to think about it. We then let them know that we were very much interested in them doing our tub for us.

    It was a one-day installation. The installation team was great, wonderful and very thorough. Plus, they cleaned up. Things are a lot easier with the walk-in tub. We don't worry about falling. The way it was installed and the way it is is very safe. And now that my 81-year old mother lives with us, it's very nice for her to be able to use it.     I am now 76 years old and I wanted to be able to have warm water experience all year long. I have an in-ground Jacuzzi in my backyard, but in the wintertime, I can't go into the jacuzzi since first of all it costs too much money to heat and second of all it's cold outside. American Standard is a well-known name. I have a shower stall separate from the bath I got. And when I looked into walk-in tubs, I decided to do that. So instead of using the in-ground jacuzzi, I use the walk-in tub for saving and relaxation. I also got a free toilet together with the walk-in tub.

    The installation of the tub went well. However, the tile into the bathroom is the original tile that was in this house, and the installers did a bit of damage to the tile and there was nothing I could do about that. I was not happy with the service that I got afterwards. Nobody came out to check on it although I did make a couple of phone calls. The wife of one of the installers had cancer and he was going through a loss at that time. I was very understanding about why he couldn’t come out, but he never chose to actually come out and look at the tile. So I'm dissatisfied with that.

    Another thing was that the installers had to take a couple of doors down in order to get the unit into the house and into the bathroom. They didn’t do any painting afterward or they left that up to me. So, I was also a little dissatisfied with that. When I scrape against the dark green tile, it took some of the colors off. It's white underneath. American Standard possibly could have offered to send somebody out to put some type of paint over it to fix it. But other than that, as far as the equipment goes, I like the fact that the walk-in tub has a fast evacuation of water. It empties so many minutes later, and something goes on and cleans out the system so that there's no stagnant water in the system.

I can't use my jets until it is filled and I can't fill the tub with cold water. My husband has to bring me some hot water from the front to the back and it ends up at being in 45 minutes. I'm cold at the time so I have trouble. I should have been told about how many gallons of water I was gonna need. I would have made a different decision, like getting the tub with a heater. I wouldn't recommend it.

    I had a couple of other people come out and give me estimates for a tub but we went with American Standard. The sales person was extremely pushy. For an older person, it would be almost intimidating. When he came out to make the sale, it was a one-time special for $600 off, but I had to sign up right then. I said, “This is a major purchase and we’re gonna discuss it. I’ll tell you what, if I decide to buy it, you will sell it to me for the price you quoted me today.” He said that would be impossible. I took a week to make the decision and he gave me a hard time, but he sold it to me for what he quoted me that day. But that would be my only complaint.

    The tub is for my 95-year old father in-law. We were trying to get him out of a care facility, and everybody worked really close with us, except the salesman. He made the sale and disappeared. But the installers and the manufacturer were excellent. It was kind of a rush job. It was two guys that came in during the installation. They were younger guys, but everything was top-notch. We had to widen the door on the bathroom. They replaced the door, removed the old tub and installed the new tub perfectly. They got there at 7:30 in the morning and didn’t leave till 1 o’clock the next morning. We have the tub in now for almost two years, and it’s been awesome. The quality is the best.

    My parents are up in age and I was trying to get a tub to help them out with their arthritis. I’m a home builder and I was familiar with American Standard tubs. Their representative was very professional and he knew what he was talking about. Everything went well, as far as the first appointment and the interview, where he showed me the brochure. My parents are really happy with the tub. It is a great tub. There is easy access to it. My mom can get in, sit down, lock the door and run the water. Everything was just like the company said it would work on the presentation. Its massage feature relaxes the muscles a lot.

    I was very dissatisfied with the installation of it though. The installers weren’t on time and I didn’t like the way they worked. How they put the tub in wasn’t up to my expectations. I was expecting more professionalism. For instance, if I have to have new wires, electrical work done, I should have an electrician. I have a BS degree in electronics and I know how things are supposed to be done and to me, what the installers did was unprofessional.

    After they finished, my dryer wasn’t working in the house because they messed up my 220 line trying to tap into the main breaker box. I had to get an electrician to come in and do some work after that to get my dryer back on. I was supposed to be reimbursed for paying the electrician to come out but I never got it and the representative answered the phone when I called back. If I’m gonna spend that kind of money on an expensive tub, the company should have everything that is required for it to work to its greatest potential. They should not send jacklegs to install the tub.

    I chose a walk-in tub due to my age and I needed to redo my bathroom. I compared American Standard to some other bathtub companies and they offered a little more than the others did, even though they were not the cheapest. I wanted the installers to do something else, but they were not licensed here in New York to do that. Still, they were excellent.

    What happened was, I got very sick to the point where I could barely lift my head and I couldn't even get into my own shower. I bought that tub since I wanted to have a walk-in tub with the heat and the whirlpool, but I wound up needing that tub. If I didn't have it, I would not have been able to bathe. That was how weak and bad off I got. I finally relearned how to walk, but I could only lift my leg a few inches and just enough to get into the tub. Even though I have a new shower stall, the shower door level is higher than the new walk-in tub. I had to lift up and I wasn't able to do that. Also, even if I was able to get into the shower, I couldn't stand for any period of time. So, another walk-in tub came in when I least expected it and my husband loves the tub.

    I was impressed with what I saw from American Standard when I was surfing the internet looking for a walk-in tub. Their rep was superior as she was thorough and knew exactly what had to be done. She did the measurements and decided the best way the door should open to the right or to the left of the space in the bathroom. She knew everything she needed to know to explain why I should purchase the tub.

    However, there was a problem after installation that still exists. With the way the lever is on the back of the faucet for the shower, it is almost impossible to pull it up, to turn it on and turn it off. This is because the space between the nozzle that controls the shower is too close to the wall, and I cannot get leverage. As a result, we can't use the shower at all. One of the main purposes why we bought the tub is because my sister has to use a shower frequently.

    When we first got the tub, the little knob that controls the door lever fell off and I couldn't get it back. So, a tech came out and repaired that. He also repaired the lever that controls turning the shower on and off. When I was trying to push it to get it on, that came off, and I couldn’t get it back on. So, he came out, and when I called American Standard about the repair, they sent a whole new system out, the faucet, the shower head, and everything. Still, the tech did not use it. He repaired the old system which we still can't use because I have to get over inside the tub and stand up to turn the shower on and off because of where the little lever is. Still, the tech did a very good job with what he did and I was not in to make it look difficult for him by telling American Standard that he did not replace it.

    Also, when we looked to finance, a $14,500 tub would’ve cost us almost $30,000 over the years. I’m 86 and my sister’s 88, and we didn’t see having to finance something for that period of time, so she took it outta her savings. Of course, I reimbursed her my half. One time, I got very disturbed with the lady whom I talked to at customer service because she was very curt. I told her we had paid for the tub but then she got very insulted. So, I haven't called American Standard again because I didn't wanna feel like I was being a headache. Still, this system is exactly what we need.

The installers were independent contractors. They introduced themselves, put covering on their shoes, went into the bathroom to peel all that away, and put the new tub in. They were done in a day. Our experience with American Standard has been pretty good. Unlike so many companies, when there's a problem they figure out a way to solve it and they don't ignore it. But the sump pump they put in is not working. Water keeps being on the floor. Other than that, I like the tub's drain and massage things and although the walk-in tub is a little too tall for me, I feel safe with it. If someone is sick like I am and can't get in a regular tub, it is best they get an American Standard walk-in tub now because that does right.

They made the door wider, changed the door frame, and put a new door up there. They had it done in about less than two days. The only thing is the caulking keeps coming up. It didn't stick very good. But I've ordered some that I'll fix with that. Also, I've called American Standard for one of the jets that fell out. I'm 82 years old, and I couldn't get down there to see how to put it back in. They were clean. They each had their own specific job and they were one right after the other, like repetition. They knew what to do and they fell into place.     I started out with a tub to shower conversion and I had somebody come in and give me an estimate. I ended up calling American Standard and I was more pleased with theirs. The in-home sales rep explained everything and he was very good about it. He guided me because I didn't know that I could get it without all the bells and whistles. The installation team was fine, but I had to have a recaulk done and they couldn't find anybody to do it. So, I ended up getting a general contractor here in town to do it. However, I hope they paid him because he has called me twice and he said that he hadn't heard from American Standard. Also, the remodel took a day or so extra because the installers ended up having to redo my wall. I wanted this tub for safety. Since using my soaker tub, I don't have to worry about falling anymore.

    My wife mentioned walk-in tubs several times before she passed on. So, I figured that maybe it was time to get one. The reps from American Standard Walk-In Tubs were very helpful. A man showed up to go through all the product parts for the unit and then, people showed up within a couple of days from the time he was here to do the work. They got the installation done in one day. However, one of the pipes that was here previously didn’t go through the roof anymore. I had to call them back to get that fixed and they were out the next morning and got it all done in about an hour. They got up there and pushed the pipe back in and glued it again. Apparently, the previous people failed to glue it and when they moved the pipes around, it went unhooked and down it came. But everybody was good and I haven’t had any problems with it since. The tub is easy to get into and get out of and I feel safe doing it.

    My wife saw American Standard Walk-In Tubs and called them. The installers were good on how the tub was supposed to be installed although there were a couple of things that could've been done a little differently. There was one place where the shower handle comes out that turned yellow instead of white. Then, there were a couple of places where the shower meets the wall that turned yellow too. I don't know if it was caulking that came out or not. Otherwise, everything else was pretty good. My wife uses it. She has Parkinson's and it helps her a lot.

    The options that I've had to go with the tub made me go with American Standard. Also, there was the reheat of the waters that come out of the jets versus a heated seat on other kinds. I am 66 years old, so I will need it before long. I called American Standard and the rep came back. We put the deposit down and paid for the tub a little later than that. The installers were here for one day and got the tub installed. They had to take out the old tub and the shower that were in the space, then installed the new tub in the bathroom and put some finishing touches around it to fit. The tub is convenient and easy to get in and out of versus a normal tub with a regular height. We've had two problems with it, though. First, the pump went out and they couldn't install a new pump. Then shortly, they had to come and replace the blower. It took them about a week after the parts came. They said they were busy. Other than that, I like the tub.

    My mother had extreme arthritis in both legs, two knee replacements, major back surgeries and more problems with her back. So, I wanted to get a walk-in tub. I went with American Standard because of the name and the reputation. Trying to get the tub purchased and installed went really well. But about four weeks after we installed it, we had a major problem with rats chewing all the wires of the motors, the blowers and the control unit. And it took us a week or two to get that resolved. They had to replace every bit of the wiring at the pumps and the blowers. We had to schedule everything. American Standard delivered everything ahead of time. The repairman came out here and then he did the repairs in two hours. I was very satisfied and happy with the tub.

    I am 88 years old and I am no longer able to get in my tub. With my Jacuzzi tub, I had to climb over and was no longer able to stand up in the shower by myself. I needed to be able to sit down. I did an investigation at American Standard and all the ones. I liked American Standard as it drains in two minutes and it is low entry. Plus, they guarantee not only the labor but also the installation also which is very unusual. American Standard's sales team was very accommodating, and then when the tub was installed, the installers were gone in less than a day. I had them leave the Jacuzzi bathtub here as I was gonna sell it on eBay. I got a new American Standard toilet too and they took my old one away. Now, I am able to get in the tub. However, I would caution people that since the tub drains within two minutes, they will most definitely be sitting in the cold while they drain. Despite that, I love my tub.

    We were thinking about remodeling the bathroom and we saw one of American Standard's deals on television. We gave them a call and the guy came. He looked it over and told us what it was gonna cost. I had thought about it and I said that I was getting a tub, a shower, and a Jacuzzi, an all-in-one thing. The installation team did a very good job. The problem was our doorways were too small and they had to take the doorjambs off. Also, the hallway was just a normal-sized hallway and it made it tough to get down from the living room through the hallway, then turn the corner and go into the bedroom.

    It took them two days for the job. They drove a long way. They drove around four and a half hours to get here from where they lived in Missouri. I asked if they were staying in town, but they said they were going back home. They drove back home that night, then came back the next day. They stayed long days. They were there for about 10 hours to get as much done as they could. They were very good about it and they were very nice young men.

    I’ve added a glass wall on top to help keep the water from going out of the tub without having a shower curtain. I added the glass on the front and it makes it look nice and makes it work well. The standing area is a bit small to stand on and take a shower and not standing on the floor drain. We still have V-shaped type door, although they have gone to a new one with an open square or rectangular type door. From the advertisements that I’ve seen now, it seems to be a wider opening and that is a good thing. I had them put the nozzle in the corner instead of in the center of the tub so that we would have more room standing. It is a little tight fit to walk in and out of, so that is one concern.

    We had to add a second water heater to our house because we have a 50-gallon water heater, and when I would sit in the tub to use it as a tub, by the time it would get to my knees or thereabouts, it is empty. It is pumping cold water by the time it is up to my waist. We have to have a second water heater to make it work efficiently and timely. The only real trouble that I’ve had with the whole thing is the caulk around the side wall. When temperatures change outside, the house expands and contracts and I’ve had separation from the tub and the side wall. When you are taking a shower, you don’t want the water to go down to the side, therefore rotting the Sheetrock and the subfloor underneath it.

    A tighter fit or some type of trim around the grout would work better. I’ve had to re-grout twice. I complained and they came up one time and fixed it and re-grouted it. When you grout, it takes a while to cut everything out and then re-grout, then you gotta wait 24 hours for everything to dry, so you are without a tub. We are lucky we have two bathrooms and tubs and showers. We also had to add a spacer or an extension. The installer put the floor drain in front of the tub instead of in the back. When we are taking a shower, the water hits the front wall, hits the spacer, then runs down the caulking line and runs down the side of the tub. That was another reason why I added the glass in front. Now, it directs the water back into the tub.

    It is a great product, but for what I paid, sometimes it is not right. When we first got it, the first six or eight months have been a very good experience. But now, it has been almost two years that we’ve had it and if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t do it. I like the product, but the shortness in the shower is my biggest complaint. I have told other people about American Standard and told the good things and the bad things.

    I'd seen American Standard advertised a lot, and it is a good brand of bathroom equipment. When I spoke to their reps on the phone, they were very nice. They told me about the whole thing and what it would cost and the people that were gonna come out. The people who came out did a great job and they were in and out of here quickly. They cleaned up behind them. The sales people kept in touch. I spoke to them a couple of times, and they called after it was all in and asked me what I thought.

    I've had two spine surgeries and I got four knee replacements. Our American Standard tub is very simple to use. You just open up the door, it's only a couple of inches off the floor and just sit down and let it fill up. The only thing we had to do was put in a second 40-gallon hot water tank. If you take a shower and try to get in the tub at the same time, you're gonna have cold water. But the tub works very well. It fills up within three minutes. And it has a pump on it, and it drains the water right out in less than a minute, and I'm out.

    Also, it's good because there are a lot of handrails that you can grab to and you just wipe yourself off right inside the thing so you got places to grab to if you start getting a little bit disoriented. You're not gonna fall. They promised us a new toilet at the same time. They put in a cold rinse out there with their own brand. For some reason, they were unable to get the one from American Standard. So, the individual who put it in went right down to the local place and bought one. And it was the right color. Other than that, they were all good. They did what they promised.

    I'm not in the best of health so an American Standard walk-in tub was bought for me. Their sales rep knew what he was talking about. If we had questions, he had the answers. If he didn’t, he said he would call somebody and get the answer. The one who did the installation was only one man and he did it right down in a day's time from start to finish. He had the materials that he could just set the tub down and roll it in the house. He knew what he was doing. He didn’t stop to talk at any time. At least he stopped to eat lunch. American Standard should better get some more like him. Also, we just paid what they charged me.

    I have back problems and arthritis and it feels so good when I get in the walk-in tub and spend a little time there. That way helps me. I love the jet that I turn on at a certain water level. And if I don’t wanna sit in there and do all the things that do the bubbling, I don't turn them on, or I don’t take the water that deep. Every time I take a bath, the tub has a thing that comes on and does a spray job. I was impressed with that one. But it doesn't get the tub as clean as white. My husband and I, clean it and we do halves because it is a high tub. I had a very good experience with American Standard.

Likely just faulty controller as it all went out at once. Called for service and they promised us contact within 2 days. No contact. Gave us number for service/installer. Called and left message but never able to contact and no callback. Called service again. They gave us cell phone number, same result. After series of calls service department gave us appointment date and time for service. Waited and no one came. Called cell phone again, still no response. Really miss the tub, it was good for my health, but it is just an expensive mistake.

    My Wife and I have been very excited about the installation of the American Standard walk in tub from the time we first saw it advertised on television. Our biggest let down was during installation schedule date, when the installer quivered over the installation due to the very distant location of the electric box and the complications of connecting service. To connect service would have caused the technician to disrupt various walls and flooring. He being concerned and basically hesitant to disrupt and destroy our house in this fashion decided to call his boss for direction. After I was also able to talk to his boss, I indicated my concern for allowing that kind of destruction to our home with the expense of putting it back to fall on us. I stated that I would prefer not to do that; although, we would be very disappointed in not getting the tub.

    This summary review is to make know that this company has retained our downpayment and basically refused to talk. I am retired and my wife will be in retirement status in a 2 or three years. We have to watch our spending very closely. Anyone buying a Tub from these people should beware. The problem was not our reneging on the purchase, it was the problem that existed with the location of the electric box and the destruction of our home at our expense.

    Getting in and out of the bathtub was harder for me. I’m not getting any younger. I couldn't afford to get a walk-in tub, but I thought that it was better than the alternative of breaking something so I went for it. I liked the way the American Standard rep presented it. There were a lot of times that my wife and I see and hear something, and we just go with it if we like it and we don’t even compare. But what sold me on American Standard was everything is lifetime. If I have any problems, they'd come and fix it for nothing.

    The installation of the walk-in tub took more than a day because my back-end door wasn’t big enough for the installers to go through. I had to buy a new door and get it ready for them to go through. But they did a good job and cleaned up. Right after they put the tub in, that thing that pulls out when I take my shower doesn’t come out so far so I called. The guys that put the tub in were working somewhere, and they came back here. They showed us right off and it was okay. They were good guys and were Johnny-on-the-spot. After using the walk-in tub, my wife and I like it. I like the shower because I can just sit there, take my shower and get in and out. I would recommend American Standard.

Their sales rep was good and he told us that our hot water heater might not be large enough to sustain the tub. That was a good thing to know because we had to buy a new hot water heater.     I interviewed about three companies and I liked what I heard about American Standard. I love the walk-in tub. It has the hairspray, handicap bar and I have the ability to sit there and be able to reach everything that I need to use, so that I can be alone in the tub and take care of myself. However, it wasn’t quite as finished. They had to widen the door to put it in my bathroom and they really didn’t complete that as well as they might have. Also they could have told me where the button is where if the electricity goes out or something, you push to reset it. They have it in the closet and I didn’t know that. I couldn’t find it, so I had to call and find out. They might have mentioned that to me but I don’t remember it. Nevertheless, the tub has improved my life tremendously. The walk-in tub seems to help some arthritis and stuff in my back. However, I'm not very happy with their customer service. I've had five calls for service since I've had the tub and I'm still waiting on a service now. The first the time we called, we had no response. We waited and waited and nothing happened. We called back and got a different customer service and he was very helpful. He shipped the parts here within a week but we haven't had anybody come to fix it yet and that has been a couple weeks now. I've also caught a few problems and they have replaced both pumps, the control panel and the faucets. But I'm not that impressed with the quality.

    I knew about American Standard my whole life but I didn't know about walk-in tubs until I went online and compared. I got the tub for my mother-in-law, and everything was well done. They did it in the two days as promised, and the company that installed it did a good job. The tub empties faster. But there's one thing about American Standard that I don't like. One is that on TV when you see them advertise it -- the person is up to their neck in the tub. But, in reality, you're not anywhere close to that. It's way down off your shoulders. The seat is much higher than it looks on TV. I find that to be misleading and unfortunate because then you get cold in there. Also, my wife and my mother complain about some of the jets that don't work. We've had the guy back, but a couple of the air jets still don't work. Even so, they have a great product.

    I’m very disappointed with American Standard tub. We used to see advertisement on TV about them and then I found out that our friend on the next building had a purchase, so we went to look at it. That time my husband was supposed to go for a surgery, and we thought that would be perfect for him so not to be so dependent on other people.

    My husband was in the hospital and ended up going to the rehab. When the installation team came for me the tub was good because I am not expert on technicality on putting things together. But when my husband came back and he saw the tub, he was really upset about it. I feel that because I’m a woman and my husband wasn’t available here, I was taken advantage of. Their respect for the client was our biggest disappointment. The sealing around the tub wasn’t perfect, because then after, it starts showing the opening. I was afraid the water would be going there.

    Also the step is very high and it's difficult for my husband to get in. He thought they should be closer so he would be able to walk in almost without lifting his legs. When the salesman came over here, he knew that he was a big man, and I don't know which model they gave me. The tub is not a straight line. The tub is wide but then the bottom is narrow. About for months ago a lady called me and said she was going to make arrangement, send somebody here but I never heard her said that could be repaired. And until today, I did not hear anything. My concern is if the water goes in there, then it might be going into the wall. The wall is not 100% waterproof so that much damage might come over there.

    We paid cash for the amount $16,000. We could buy from anybody maybe much less the cost than American Standard. But my husband trusted their quality. And now he didn’t see that so he’s very, very upset. American Standard goes almost century. And being in a kind of a company that people trust, they don’t follow up with it.

    The sales rep was professional and knowledgeable, and he took the time to answer questions so we felt very comfortable with his presentation. The installation went well and the tub was positioned where we had envisioned it should be. However, the caulking that connects the tub to the cosmetic shelf has worked its way loose and that might be an area that needs to be looked at. Also, the tub abuts next to a wall, so there’s caulking along that as well, and just like a bathtub, over time that could start to crack and separate. But the mechanics of the tub are fine.

    I’ve taken pictures of the tub and shown co-workers who also have elderly parents. The American Standard tub could help them as far as meeting the elders' needs without having them to stand up, and when the caregivers come, they can comfortably give the elders a bath. Our American Standard tub is efficient, and we like the ability to maneuver within the tub, all of the handrails, the door that's easy to open and the shower. We also like the ability to evacuate the water very quickly, and it fills. We’re very happy with our tub.

    I love my American Standard walk-in tub. We were looking at three companies, but American Standard had a lifetime guarantee on everything. Their rep was very good and knowledgeable. My husband always asked lots of questions because he’s a mechanic and understands all that stuff. The rep was very good at explaining and showing him exactly what he wanted to know.

    We had problems with the installation though and the installers had to come back out. In the first place, they should never have attempted to install the tub in one day, which was where things got to be a problem. They were exhausted. We noticed water coming out from under the tub and the part was broken from the factory. We were also told the tub would be ready to paint and go, but it wasn’t. There was a lot of secondary carpentry work that needed to be done like the caulking and trim. But the installers were very good and got all that squared away.

    I'm 77. When I was getting where I couldn’t lift my left leg high enough to get it to step into the tub, I got an American Standard walk-in tub and it was installed in a day. But I don’t use it that much because I only have a 40-gallon water heater. You really have to be conservative in order to keep the water from turning cold on you. The first thing I did was I had to turn the water up from 120 up to 180. But you should really take care to adjust it so you don’t scald yourself.

    I haven’t used the walk-in tub in a couple of weeks now. I just used the shower part. One complaint I have is I don’t have a whole lot of room, just a bit to walk around. Also, I have one of the little pulsator things that put the water out on your feet. I got one that’s weak and I think maybe the installers didn’t turn it on all the way. Other than those, the swelling in my legs has now gone down. I'd recommend American Standard.

    I didn’t like the tub that I had and I was trying to make an improvement in my very small bathroom. Having somebody to come to my home and talk to me about American Standard walk-in tub was wonderful because I don’t think I would’ve understood any other way even if I went to the store. The walk-in tub fitted my bathroom and it was great that it happened like that. But the installers made a few mistakes. I called and a repair guy was sent out who solved the problem. My experience has been great with my tub. I don’t know how I’d go along without it. I’m 79 years old with arthritis and some more things going on. The tub makes me feel great when I get out of there. But it doesn’t last long. Also, my water bill’s sky-high. Otherwise, the tub's wonderful and it does what they say it does.

    American Standard's warranty was the thing that put it over the top. The sales rep who came to our home was fine. The only negative thing was this financial plan and I don't think we realized the charge on that. It's a horrible program. It was not explained. It’s like one of the old finance companies that all of your interest is upfront. I’ve not been pleased with that. But we did it, and we didn’t ask the questions. They did a nice installation job and it took about two days to do that. They are scheduled to come and do the repair work as there was some caulking on it. Somehow, it came through the acrylic. It’s a small thing, but we are in the process of selling our home and wanted it to be perfect. Anyway, it looks like an easy fix. They’ve already come out and that’s the project. Overall, we love the walk-in tub. It’s gonna be a problem when we move since we don’t have one.

    The sales representative from American Standard was good. He was very knowledgeable and professional. However, I was very disappointed in the men that did the work on the tub. The tub wouldn’t drain right and one guy that came here thought he knew what he was doing, but he didn’t. He forced the pipe in and broke my other pipe. So, I told him to get the hell out of here. And then the other guy said he knew what he was doing, and he told us that the piping was hooked up wrong to start off with that was why it was not draining right. We had to repipe the whole thing, and he removed the tub and reset everything and fixed it like it was supposed to. It wasn’t fixed right to start off with, and he get all that. I was well-satisfied with him and the work he did, and our tub is working good now.

    Still, the tub is not worth it. It’s too expensive and I would not do it again. And I had several people tell me the same thing when they had their tubs installed. Also, the service that American Standard does for the tub takes too long. If you have a problem, you gotta wait before they get somebody to help. They don’t have good service at all, and that’s what’s hurting them.

    The home consultant at American Standard exaggerated some of the features of the tub. The pillow that is on it doesn’t even come near being a pillow. It is way too low. My back gets it, not my head. It also has to be cleaned quite often. He said to hose it off, but it doesn’t just hose off and it has to be cleaned with a cleanser. Also, the foot massager really isn’t a foot massager. One side works, but one side doesn’t. The air goes through and apparently, it’s just the way it is. One side is stronger than the other. The seat is also too high because I can only get the water up just above my waist, but other than that, the tub is pretty good. It also has the lifetime warranty so I bought it.

    The installation of the tub was also great. They had to take the doorway apart to get the tub in, but they put it all back really well. The walk-in tub is relaxing and I enjoy it very much. The techs had to come out and replace the lever to go to the spray nozzle because it was too hard to move. They had to go back into the entrance to the valves. They did a good job and fixed it well. It works nicely now and I can lift it up and down. Everything is good and I’m satisfied. I just wish the seat was lower, so I could get more of my body into the water.

    I grew more and more unable to get in my old tub. I talked to friends and they said their mother really liked what they had from American Standard. When I saw it on TV, I wrote down the number and I called them. A sales rep came and showed us all the literature, and he answered all our questions. He started from the lowest up to the most high-end model. I wanted the highest because it offered so much more. He explained everything to us very plainly, and right then and there, I ordered the tub. I was surprised how fast they did the installation. They came late one afternoon and they left the next afternoon the very next day.

    I love my tub and I enjoy it very much. It makes my body feel so good. It’s very easy to get in and out of and I have no problems holding on because the bars are on the wall and right there on the tub. I like that when the tub empties up the water, it takes no time so I'm not sitting there for long. There are different modes that I can put it on and I can make different colors of water too. There’s another brand of tub that gets the seat heated but that's no big deal because when I start the water, I just take a cup of hot water and put the water on the seat. I have trouble with arthritis and this tub relieves the pain. It's very relaxing. It helps me with all parts of my body.

    I liked American Standard's commercials, and they sounded really nice. My husband had been wanting to try to get me a walk-in tub because of problems with my bones. The boys that came in to install the tub made a mess out of my bathroom. I sent the picture of the mess that they made to the American Standard rep, and for three solid days, my bathroom was a mess. I had to crawl up the stairs to go to the bathroom. The rep had to get them back out here three times to do the job right. After they left, I went to sit on the commode that they sent, and I ended up on the floor. It just threw me off right on the floor. Also, the installers do not speak the English language. They didn’t know what I was saying, and I couldn’t understand what they were saying until the company sent someone else to be with them. But other than that, I love my tub. It has been an absolute wonderful tub.

    Someone in my family had worked with American Standard for 20 years, so I knew it was a good company. The sales rep showed us everything that he could. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as smoothly in order for us to get our tub brought in and installed like they promised. I gave them a down payment and we were delayed a couple of weeks from when they told us they would come. They told me different stories about why they couldn’t deliver it. The salesperson I talked to said it was because the installer didn’t have proper storage. It was a back-and-forth until it finally got delivered. When the installer left, he promised to us he was gonna come back and make sure everything was working okay. I never heard or saw him again. I would’ve been grateful if there had been some follow-up a couple of months afterwards ‘cause it was a lot of money for us.

    So far we haven’t used the tub as much. I wanted to buy it because I thought it would help my husband. He suffers from severe pain all the time, so I thought it would be very helpful for him. But he hasn’t quite gotten himself used to using it, so he never uses it. I’m the one who uses it mainly since I wanna make sure it continues to work well. I also enjoy tub baths. Also, we have two guest bedrooms so we had it installed in the guest bathroom. It isn’t used very often because we don’t have guests as we used to in the past. When we have guests, they are uneasy about using it since they’ve never used a tub like that.

    We also have a couple of issues. I don’t completely know how to operate the tub. They gave us a packet of aromatherapy, but they never showed me where it went. Also, with the last couple of guests that we had, they had a hard time when they turned up the waters as it wouldn't go off. I had to alert them that if that happens, they call and I can go in and try to stop it. I myself have trouble with that. Plus sometimes when I use all the jets, the water splatters over. Overall I thought the American Standard tub would be more helpful to us than it’s been so far. In the future, we'll probably have to use it as a need, not as pleasure.

    Though the in-home sales rep from American Standard was great., he ran out the door and started booking his vacation. The bathtub cost me what a regular car would cost and the rep just said that I'm good to go. He left and never responded to me about anything. At that time, I had issues as their installers had to rip out part of my door to my bathroom. Also, I had a cavity underneath my original tub of about three feet and they didn't do anything about that. There were sewer flies and so I had it resolved with my personal contractor. For the top wall, they came and sprayed foam as a sealant and that got rid of the sewer flies.

    Though American Standard's guys came back out and tried to patch up all the damage they did to get the tub in the bathroom, I got nothing that was finished completely and it was aggravating. Also, their guys went up in the ceiling to get to the box where they put the electrical box which was on the other side of the tub. That's not where they were supposed to do it. Additionally, they broke the tile under my toiler while installing and I was very disappointed. That told me that American Standard's guys just install and that they don't take care of all the other problems.

    The salesman didn't ask what size of water heater I have. I can't fill my tub without running out of hot water so I ended up getting a new one that would fill the capacity of the tub. Though I'm very pleased with the tub, I didn't like the process that was done and the salesperson I dealt with. I wouldn't recommend the company that American Standard dealt with to install my tub to anybody. People dealing with them should read the paperwork and not sign until they have all the information they need. Now the door in my bathroom doesn't even shut correctly.

    I had a salesperson from American Standard come over and I had another one from Sure Step come over as well, and Rudy, the salesperson from American Standard, came across as more reliable and honest. I bought the tub for my father but the installation didn’t go as we were told it would. We got a free toilet in the process and when they installed it, the toilet was rocking a bit. We repeatedly called Rudy to have the toilet fixed because it’s not good to have a toilet rocking, but he really didn’t do anything to help us out. He just kept telling us to call the installer who we have no idea who they were. Also, I happened to ask if American Standard is an American company, and they’re not. They’re a Japanese company. But we probably would’ve gone for it anyway even if it wasn’t an American company.

    My husband finally fixed the toilet, and he’s in his 70’s and on dialysis, so it was an effort for him. Nevertheless, my father enjoyed the tub and liked it so much. He just passed away last month. He was 94. The tub made bathing him a lot easier so it served its purpose. When my dad passed away, my uncle came up and he’s 88. He saw this ad and asked if he could I take a bath in the tub, and I said yes. He really enjoyed it, and he talked about the possibility of having it installed when he moves into his new house.

    We had a good experience with American Standard. The reps I dealt with were okay. Plus, the installation went well. It took them one day to install the tub for me. The tub seems to be doing everything that way it should be doing everything.

    The sales rep of American Standard did a really good job and sold me on going with them for my project. They put a good tub in for me. Everybody in the installation crew did a really good job too. It took them two days to install the tub with the new toilet and to clean up everything. They even came out on a Sunday to check the tub out and make sure that everything looked right. Since the installation, I really enjoy the new remodel. I would recommend American Standard.
