I’ve read that American Standard is the first one that has a leak-proof tub but they are overpriced. But I got a good rep and the guys that came to replace my tub did a nice job. They worked for 12 hours and one of them even worked more than that. I don’t use the tub much but my wife has been using it at least three times a week, if not, four. It's been a very good experience.
We're so happy for you both, Robert. Enjoy your bubble baths!

I saw American Standard on TV and tried it. Their rep did a thorough job except for measuring. Once the installers put the walk-tub in, my bathroom door would not open all the way back. The door would hit the wall that they had to put up. Some areas could have been a little better but they did a good and pretty much a thorough job. Now, I can get in and out of the tub without falling.
Thank you for your review, Joyce. We're happy to hear that the tub has improved your everyday life. Please don't hesitate to reach out to our Customer Care Team at 855-225-2183 if you have any questions or concerns.

I checked out three different companies, including American Standard. I'm familiar with them as a brand and the tub itself seemed good and solid. They have a good guarantee as well. The salesperson was really good and well-informed. She did a good job of explaining everything very well. The installers were very diligent too. They had extra effort and I was happy with them.
I've got a lot of experience with construction-type stuff and I was impressed with how well they took the door out, made the opening bigger to get the tub in and then put it back. Everything went smoothly. The tub is for my in-laws who are in their 80s and they seem happy with it. We had some grab bars in a regular tub, which was hard for them to step into, but now, they can either take a bath or shower with the handheld. Overall, it'd be a good choice.
Thank you for your kind words, Greg. We hope they will enjoy their tub as it looks like it improved their lifestyle.

American Standard is a familiar name and they’ve been around a long time. Their reps were nice guys and their knowledge and expertise on the tubs were very good. The same guys did the installation but I had to get a couple of people over here to help them get the tub up the stairway. It was kinda tight there in the stairway. There was also some tile work that needed to be done that they didn’t. They had to tear up my walk-in shower. Luckily, I can shower bath in the tub, but my walk-in shower is torn up right now. And with the pandemic going on, I can't get anyone in to do it. Other than that, my wife and I really like the walk-in tub. I have severe rheumatoid arthritis and it really does help me.
We are very sorry to hear that, Gerald. We will have someone reach out to you asap.

I contacted American Standard through the website, and then I was contacted by a salesperson who made an appointment to come and talk to my husband about the tub system. American Standard is a household name and the information that was given to us was very informative. Other than the price, we thought it was a great deal. The installation team that came was super. They had been given the wrong tub to install and they immediately let us know that and said if we wanted to wait until our tub that we had ordered came in. Or we could go ahead and put the tub in that. They had, which was what we ended up doing. And they walked us through every step of the process. They were very understanding of what our needs were during that time and completed the installation and all of the other work that day.
My husband has mobility issues and we needed the tub for safety. And to him, that was the one quality we were looking for. And as we've had the tub, we've learned the ins and outs of it and I'm enjoying the spa and the hydro jets. With my husband, before he had to use a chair in the tub, now he can just get in, sit down and take his shower. And because of our mobility issue, the salesman suggested that we get the door that opens out rather than the one that opens in, which makes a big difference. Because then, he doesn't have to jog around any impairment in his way. He just could open the door, get in and sit down.
We're glad to hear that you are happy with it, Deborah. Enjoy your tub!

We love the American Standard walk-in tub. I did a Google search and came up with American Standard, and we had a salesman come in and we liked the tub, and so we bought it. The salesman was relaxed. He didn't try to push us. He gave us all the information about the tub and he did a good job. The installation was tough though. I'm not real pleased with what we have left here, but it wasn’t the fault of the installers. They had a rough proposition to get it installed where they had to put it. They had quite a hill to climb to get it installed and they did a good job. But they had to do it all in one day and they had to leave before it was finished really good. But, it’s something that I can straighten out after this virus deal gets over and I can do some shopping for materials.
We’re both up in our 80s and my wife has a lot of leg problems and she was having trouble sleeping. And now, she uses the tub before she goes to bed. She sleeps much better after being relaxed in the tub. Years ago, we had a hot tub and I fully enjoyed that. I hated to leave it when we left that and this pretty well takes the place of the hot tub.
Thank you, Lowell, we will have a member of our team reach out to you soon.

I love the American Standard walk-in tub because my wife loves it. It's easy for her to get in and out of it. You can operate the whole thing from sitting down and it's built really good and sturdy. The folks that installed it were magnificent. I would recommend those two guys to anybody. The sales rep from American Standard was great too. He explained everything, left me and my wife alone so we could talk about when it came down to the financing of it and to the decision on whether we wanted it or not. He gave no pressure or anything. He just explained to us what it is, showed us the pictures, and showed us what it's made out of. He's very good. Everything went fantastic.

I did a search for the best-rated, the most recommended companies to do business with as far as walk-in tub installations. And American Standard has the longest established name, and I looked at their warranty. And they sold themselves online. The salesman came by. And whenever he came, he was really nice and very friendly. He answered all of our questions and he knew his product.
The installation went really well. The man that came to do it brought an assistant with him. He told me ahead of time that he would be here at a certain time, and he was there exactly at that time in the morning. And his assistant was there right on time with him and they got started. The job can take anywhere from a day and a half to three days. Instead, they said they'd be able to do it in a day. And they did. They got everything done, answered all of our questions and were very nice about the process. They did the very best they could to not be in my way around the house as they were doing it. But, when you’re taking out bathroom tiles, it’s loud. But other than that, they were really good.
I like the Jacuzzi itself. I love the jets, the whirlpool and the lights. They’re great. I had to put a new clock up on the bathroom on the wall so I could look up at it ‘cause I’d get in there and I’d toy around on my phone or start emailing, and I’d just sit there and lay back. And I’ve dozed off in the water. I lost track of time. ‘Cause it has an inline heater that keeps the water heated. It’s not like it starts to cool off and you start to get to a point where you’re getting pruny and cold. It maintains the current temperature that it comes in at. So, that’s the safety mechanism.

I use our American Standard Walk-in Bath quite often and I sit down and shower. Their advertisement is a little bit deceptive. It shows a fellow sitting in it and it shows him with all the way up to his chest but when you’re sitting on that seat, it doesn’t. You’d have to really scoot down in the water to get it up to your chest. Other than that we’re gonna have to make some changes to accommodate it in terms of our own system. We’re gonna have to get a larger hot water tank because it runs out of hot water before it fills. It takes 55 gallons to fill it. I’d make sure that anybody that was gonna think about buying them understood that it’s a little different than what the advertisement shows. Overall, I’m glad we got it and I’ll even appreciate it more when we get a larger hot water tank.

We had a flood and I haven’t had a bath since then. I have a huge garden tub and my girls made me sit in it but I was not able to get up. So, it has been wonderful to be able to take a sit-down bath. I have been looking for two years and when I saw that American Standard was offering one, I said that I knew that name and that it was a good product. We’ve built two houses, and we've always used American Standard. The sales reps from American Standard were very polite, and I was afraid of them messing up my carpet but they were very good about putting cloths down. So, everything worked out. It took longer than I thought it would but the rep worked hard the days that he was here so I’m sure that’s how long it takes.

Hello Joanne. Please reach out to our Customer Care Team at 855-225-2183, and we will look at a water heater credit if the water heater is not large enough to fill the tub. This is not a usual scenario but we do run into it from time to time, in which we apply the water heater credit. Not many other tub companies offer that. Thank you!

American Standard was excellent to work with. They were very reliable and very prompt. They told me they’d be here at 8 o’clock in the morning, and they pulled up in the driveway about 15 until 8. They came in and got busy. They had the old tub out very quickly and proceeded to do the installation of the new one. They were through about 3 o’clock in the afternoon. They did an excellent job and left everything perfect. They left the place as clean as a pin.
My wife uses the tub. She has some back problems and that was primary the reason we got it. We thought maybe that would help and it seems like it does. She's had two surgeries and a lot of issues, so getting in and sorta massaging the back has helped. The tub has all the air and water jets. All that was part of the original package. They brought the grab bars and left them with us. We did not have any place we really wanted to put one, so the guy said, “Well, they come with the tub. You keep them. If you change your mind about wanting to put them somewhere, you can.” He showed me how to install them.

I liked the way American Standard looked and everything looked like it would work well for me. I have low back pain. It seemed to have more jets too. I also thought they have a good name. Before I even bought this tub, I already had their commode and I liked it. The sales rep was very nice. She was very good and explained everything and I enjoyed her. The installers did a really good job too and he tried to explain everything to me, how it worked before he left. And they just cleaned up after themselves. During that week, I called him at least three times to ask him again how this worked or what was I supposed to do about something. So, he was really nice about always talking to me and told me anytime I had any questions, not to worry about calling, just call him. I called a little while back about one of the jets, the foot jet is not working. The guy that installed it is supposed to, at some time, come by and look at it. But I figured because of this virus going on, it’ll be quite a while before he comes. It’s no big deal. We still use it. Other than that, I enjoy it and I'm pleased with it.

The installation was fine, but when they cut into the wall though, they left it a mess. I had to get somebody to come back in and take care of that. They also left out some of the parts on it and we had to fight them to get it back in. In fact, they gave us $3,000 because they didn’t put it in right. We got it all fixed up, but it's not running as fast as it should. It takes a lot to get the water in and a lot to get the water out too. I also thought it was going to be larger to where I could stretch out more. It wasn’t, so I'm just making do. I know the American Standard brand is very good, so that’s the way I went, but I'm not happy with it. Still, the sales rep was very good.

My mother purchased one of your walk-in tubs, using some of her retirement money to do so, and it has been the worst experiences of her life. She purchased the tub around the 14th of Feb., and work was to begin on the 20th. And it did. Up until then, it was fine. But then, it all seemed to fall apart. What was supposed to have been a 2-3 day installation turned out to be more than 12+ days. Not only was there no communication with her, but there was were days when no one even showed up to do the work, without even calling her to let her know that no one was coming. Then, once the installation was happening, the electricians put the outlets in the wrong place and they put unnecessary holes in her walls. After that, we discovered that they put in the wrong electric panel and didn't put in the right meter! It didn't have a shut off lever!
The bathtub installers, although nice, didn't put in a water stop under the tub, broke a towel bar (which they didn't put back correctly), and what supposed to be a new door and frame, they just reused the old ones and didn't even put those on back correctly. There is at lease a good 1/4" gap between the outside of the door and the jamb. I could put back door trim better than they did. Not only is this all a problem, but the caulking around the tub is starting to come up already. I feel as though American Standard took advantage of an old lady because no one was there to really help her see what was going on. I tried to be there as best that I could, but I can't be there the whole time.
Although we have been in contact with the regional manager, Eric **, I feel as though nothing really is being done to resolve this manner and I will blow this up on social media if I have to in order for something to be done. Although they are supposed to come back to fix the job, I feel as though there should be some sort of restitution other than fixing what was broken and a mere $500. That doesn't even cover what time and energy my mother has had to endure during this awful experience.

I saw American Standard from a TV ad and we didn’t see that much about any other tub providers. The sales rep who came out explained the process well and the installation was good. It took two complete days to finish the whole process. I’m not totally in love with the tub but I like it. If there was some way that it could be made to where we could sink lower, where we could come lean back and relax and it bring the water up to say neck level, it would be something I wanted to see handled differently.

My wife had a stroke 10 years ago. She couldn't get into the tub to soak and we were doing showers all the time. American Standard's in-home rep seemed to know a lot more about their tub and about the installation than those reps from other companies. I went with them and the installation went perfectly. Their team was good and the job was also done a little quicker than what the reps said. However, I didn't like that they completely demolished the marble enclosure for the Jacuzzi tub that I had. I thought they could remove the slabs without destroying them but they just shattered them all. They said it was the only way they could do it.
After we got our American Standard, my wife didn't really like it that much and she didn't use it. American Standard's tubs are much bigger than people think they are. They aren't where the person using it is enclosed and can touch both sides easily. It has grab bars but then since my wife only has one arm that can be used and the grab bar is on the wrong side, she feels a lack of support with it. People really need to try them to see if they would like the tubs. The tub also uses a lot more water than a shower or an ordinary bath. With our old Jacuzzi tub, I could get in and fill it with water, I'd be done washing before it was full. With our American Standard walk-in tub, I have to wait for about five minutes the water to come up. The drain is super fast though.

I went with American Standard because of their good products and I purchased a tub last year. The salesperson I dealt with was pushy and I felt like I got pressured. The advertisement does not place with the way it really is because Terry Bradshaw could not get down to sit in his back in the tub easily. You got to be a magician. I cannot even do the middle of my back. It is not that deep enough and that is what could be improved on. While the installation team was good, the tub is about $13,000 of waste.

The salesperson was really good and he convinced me American Standard was the oldest company doing this walk-in tub work. They also had the lifetime warranty. Then the installation went great. It was done in one day. They were in by 8:00 and out by about 4:00. We did go to Lowe's to get some door material framing to make the doorway wider but other than that, it was very good. It's been about a year now and I enjoy the tub when I use it, like when I've been sore. I've even let my granddaughter use it when she's been sore and my 92-year old mother has used it as well. So I like the tub.
The only thing I would wish is that because I have to wait for the water to heat up and I have to close the tub to start the water running, it would be nice if there's a little stoop at the end of the tub to put your feet while the water is cold. Then when the warms up, you can put your feet in the bottom. I've gotten smart enough now that I can start the water running and leave it open until I get in so it's warm. But otherwise, the water is cold when you go in and just sit. I don't use the tub everyday because I have a walk-in shower and I'm still able to do that. I'm 66 but as I age, I know the tub is gonna become more and more important in my life. Getting it was a great decision for me and I'm glad I made it. I did it when I had the money to do it.

American Standard broke a lot of my stuff during installation but they replaced it with their selection. The installer was banging on the tub, breaking it up with a sledgehammer. He cracked a couple of my cups in the kitchen because the rattling from it opened up the cabinet door. And in the bathroom, he broke the long countertop on the sink. What threw me for a loop was he asked if it was like that. I was like, “Come on, man. Don’t go starting it.” He tried but he went on and replaced it.
They looked like they were doing good work. But before I got this new tub, I had no problem with water pressure. Now, when the washing machine cuts on, it takes away the hot water only in this room where the new tub is at. I have to wait till the washing goes through its cycle and then it would take back up the hot water. I contacted them back in December and it took until around January for the installer to come out and look at it. The installer said the line and everything looked good. He sent a labor out to look at it and he was telling him what was going on. And they asked me to sign a piece of paper and I told them I couldn't because my house wasn’t like this before they came.
I went on and got an individual plumber come out. He was saying that somewhere down the regulator on their system, something is crossed because of the pressure. I asked if he would talk to the individual so I called the company itself and texted the individual. I texted them the plumber's number but they never responded. Their rep called when I threatened that I was gonna go ahead and go to my lawyer that same night. I told him I'm gonna have to go and get a lawyer. And the lady that works in that office had poor customer skills. She just said to not use the tub and to not use the washing machine when we're taking a shower. I told her it’s almost $17,000. How could she tell me to not use the washing machine? She is an issue. The tub is nice and I like everything about it. Everything is working the way it’s supposed to and I’m satisfied with the product. But the installers are the issue.

The people who sold the American Standard Walk-in Bath to us were a little pushy but we wanted it so it was a done deal from the beginning. The guy doing the measurements did them incorrectly so we didn’t get the tub that we originally thought we were gonna get ‘cause it wouldn’t fit through the doorway. But the installation was very good. The installers knew what they were doing and they did it very well and fast. I like the ease of using the tub.
The only problem is the height of the step. When we bought it, we were told that it would be four and a half inches. It’s over nine and it's a lot higher than they’re promoting. So it’s a big difference when you're in a wheelchair. There's nothing that American Standard can do. They can't lower the tub. They should also quit calling it a high-point toilet. It’s way below standard height. However, I told others that it’s a nice tub and it comes equipped with a water flow valve so a person is not being beaten down from the pressure of the water. But the main concern is that every single one of them needed it for a wheelchair-bound and the high step is a big stumbling block.

I'm a shower person and with American Standard Walk-In Tub, it's next to impossible to take the shower and not wash the floor at the same time. There are no lips on the edges to hold what little water goes in there to keep it from going on to the floor. I've had it since April and I have not even tried the bath part. My husband was the one who was adamant to get it and he enjoyed it. It took the swelling down in his lower legs and feet and he liked the feeling of the jets pulsing against him.
The tub put a strain on my finances for a period of time. I felt like I got talked into a more expensive tub than what I really was able to pay. The sales representative didn't do the quote right in front of me. He went outside and then he came back and gave me the quote. It came down a little but I was hoping to do something a little less.
We still had snow on the ground when we had the tub put in. With some pieces of plywood which the installer had with him, he was able to negotiate it up over the snow and in through the door. The hall is very narrow and the doorway to the bathroom was not wide enough so he had to take off the framing around the door as well as the door, and it just barely made it in. He put it on the skid things that wouldn't mar the floor. I asked him how far he could back up with it 'cause he needed to back it up and turn it a little more. But he was short and he couldn't see so I was able to guide him in that way. Other than that, he did it all by himself. My hot water faucet is very loose and it still works. He comes out at Connecticut and I'm in Maine and it's like a four-hour drive for him. I hate for him to come just because I have a loose faucet. But it would be nice to have him stop by if he'd be in the area.

I like all of the features of my American Standard tub, the ease of getting in and out of it, the therapeutic as far as the air massage and the water massage and all the reasons we bought it for. Our physical itches and so forth has been great. The installation took three days but that was because of the size of our bathroom and wasn't anything that the crew was not doing professionally. It's just the uniqueness of our house and bathroom and the way it was designed by the original owner. The crew adapted very well to it. They had the door opening the wrong way though and they had to correct that as far as the doorframe. But other than that, the crew was good, very polite and professional. It was a good experience all the way around.

American Standard's reps answered all of our questions. They had the pictures to show us, and they said that they would install it in a day’s time. And so, it worked out well for us. The installation process was very good. We didn’t have any mess at all. We enjoy our tub. At night time, we sleep better. We can enjoy the tub bath and we also have a separate shower besides that if we wanna shower early in the morning, so that works well.

Sometimes I even take myself a glass of wine in there. I feel great after I get out. Everyone from American Standard was all wonderful. The tile man that came, I hired him to retile all around it. We had done some research with the Better Business Bureau and we purchased a tub from American Standard because of the quality. We also like that the tub gives my mom more independence. We purchased it for her and during the installation, the lead guy on the crew was very helpful. They were all very knowledgeable, too. They came in, took everything out without any incidents, explained everything through the entire process, and it was really well done. She's 85 years old and her home is everything, and they put the doorways and everything back, just like nothing had ever happened. So it was a great install from beginning to end. The overall experience from the sales staff to the installation has been really good as well. Everybody always answered questions and responded right back. So, for an 85-year old that still lives alone, that's really good because they tend to worry a lot more than other people.

What American Standard had to offer was what I was looking for, and they told me I had a lifetime guarantee, both product and labor, and that was intriguing. I had already pretty much made up my mind, but he had a presentation I had to listen to. I understood the sales rep's role was to tell me all the features, which was fine, but it did get lengthier than what I would have desired. The installation team did well. They had to take not only my bathroom door off but also the frame. When they put it back, along the one side, there's a place where it probably should have been filled with caulking. They missed that.
It's no big deal because I'm going to take care of that myself eventually. But at that time that it happened, I had had foot surgery, so I wasn’t able to do that. I haven’t taken time to do it yet ‘cause I live by myself. The fella came back due to a valve that leaked and had to fix that, but I didn’t say anything to him about the caulking either.
I feel safer with having the walk-in tub. I don’t use it as a whirlpool tub every day because it also has a shower feature, so I use the whirlpool feature, probably, at most twice a week. But for one thing, it takes a lot of water and it drains my water heater if I fill it full, and I even have my water heater turned up 10 degrees over what it was originally. Originally, I was getting the cold water before it was full.
I couldn’t do laundry and that at the same time. I don't know whether that was made clear to me with the presentation as to how much water it was going to take. I've been looking at the possibility of getting a new tank that would be a little bit bigger, ‘cause it wouldn’t take that much more. Probably a tank with 10 more gallon than what I have would take care of that problem. I like the tub overall very well, and I’ve had people in and look at it. Everyone asked me about it and I tell them what I think about it. The tub serves my purpose very well. It should allow me to live here in my own home for a significant period of time.

My husband looked up American Standard and it was one of the best rated. The representative that sold it to us was very nice and he explained everything to us. I was real excited to get it put in and the installation went real good too. We had Jackson put it in with couple other guys that were electricians and they did okay. But a couple things went wrong with the tub and we had to have a couple people come back out. Once, the tub wouldn’t drain and then the lights weren’t working on it. So, we’ve had a couple people work on it twice since we’ve had it installed. But it’s doing great right now and I’m in it three times a week. I have a bad back and I have muscle spasms in my legs and feet, and it relaxes the heck out of me. I use bath bombs in it and it softens my skin, and it’s the most relaxing tub. I love it and I tell everybody, even my doctors, about it.

We couldn't get down in a regular tub and my wife was afraid of falling. With the American Standard Walk-In Tub, it has a place to sit down. I've had it for about eight months. It was better than all the ones I looked at. You can soak in it and the jets work really well for somebody that has bad feet and stuff like that. But the faucets on it are terrible. It takes so much time to adjust it from the hot water to the cold because the faucets are just rattling in there. They either let too much cold go or too much hot go. Other than that, the guys were really good and they did a nice job of installing the walk-in tub.

I looked at American Standard and at Safe Step. The material of American Standard's tub was made out of was a little better. It also has more jets. It seemed to be what I needed more for me. We had a Jacuzzi step-in regular tub before, and I wanted to try something with both the aqua therapy and hydrotherapy. That’s what the doctor really wanted me to try too, and I had tried it. The other companies didn’t have what they had as far as the jets. The jets hit perfectly what I wanted them to hit on my middle back, down where I’ve been injured. The legs and the adjustable jets down low are great. I can adjust them to hit where I needed to hit. Everything seems to be pretty good. I like the tub. It does what you want it to do.
The tub is doing fine but we re-caulked it again. And that caulk still hasn’t stayed. Right where the tub and the wall come together where they put it, some reason or other, it’s just not staying stuck to that stuff. I called American Standard one time and they came and redid it again. We were gone the whole weekend and came back and it was pulling away at the top. Not in the tub part but where it sticks to the wall. They seemed to be putting it down right and put a lot of caulk down. But the tub is great as far as having it. It’s helped a lot in my legs. I’d like to change the way the seats are done, but it’s getting my higher back, so that’s all that matters.
I get in every other night. I stay about 20 to 30 minutes, and I’ve been able to keep the swelling down my legs. My back doesn’t seem to be as knotty as it usually is. So the tub does help, especially after I’ve been on my feet all day, and after messing and walking around. It’s a great tub. It’d be nice if you spend this kind of money on something you had a chance to be fitted for as far as sitting in, having the seat molded to your back and molded towards your center. If American Standard's people were really interested in helping and getting a better use out of their tub, it would be molded to each individual that needs it. I shattered my spine a long time ago, and I’d like to have a little more slope to the seat. It’s so straight. If it was fitted to you, it would be more comfortable for you.

I didn't like the tub though. I thought that you can lay down in it until they brought it in my house and I realize I couldn't lay down like you can in a regular tub and soak. There are only a few premium brands out there and American Standard seems to be a good choice. The price is very affordable. The sales rep was very professional and he represented the product well. He also made me feel comfortable with going ahead to purchase. They seemed very knowledgeable. They didn't minimize the challenges that we might face putting a tub like that in a relatively older home. So, there were things we had to do such as upgrade our water heater and make sure the drain capacity was sufficient. They try and think if something goes on beyond cost, prices.
The installation took two days because there were challenges in our particular installation. They actually had to cut out a section of wall to fit the tub through the wall because the door angle made it impossible to get the tub in using the existing doors. But in the end, it was fine. The quality of work was excellent. I only have one issue with the product. It's not actually the tub. We got a wonderful accessory as part of the deal, the new toilet with a bidet which I enjoy immensely. But the construction of the toilet seat is too flimsy to stand up. It's made of a material that is too thin in the bottom and we experienced cracking on the bottom. And they were very nice and came out last seven months ago, and replaced it. But the replacement part is doing the same thing.
We haven't had to call them but we have a good warranty so they'll come out to do it. To minimize the cost of repetitive trips out, to replace the part that's insufficiently engineered, American Standard needs to stand up just a little bit. My wife and I are the only two that are here and we're not huge people but apparently, we're sufficiently heavy that we caused some crack. But American Standard is a very reputable company with high-quality product in general other than the toilet seat. And the people they employ to do the work are very decent.
What great feedback, David! Thank you for being a part of the American Standard family!

I interviewed several companies and I got three estimates. American Standard wasn’t the cheapest nor the most expensive but what sold me was it had the jets in the tub and the rep gave me a bidet. I thought it had more jets than a Jacuzzi. It had more of everything than that one but after I got it in here, it’s too small and it’s kinda hard to clean. My husband has some issues with diabetes and he also has a breathing issue. So, we were trying to get something that would be easy for him, where he could shower and sit down but the tub is just too small. The shower portion is really terrible and the water splashes out. It would be nice if American Standard had some way of enclosing it with a glass enclosure like a normal shower but we’ve got it in now so we try to make the best of it.
It was supposed to be two guys who would do the installation but there was only one guy. He asked if we knew somebody to help him bring the tub in, and I said, “No,” which I didn’t. He got somebody to help him. I didn’t think that was very professional. I’m not satisfied with the tub and I could’ve not bought it but I thought it was gonna be a good option for my husband.

We relied on American Standard products for quite a few years. We knew ahead even before the sales representative arrived that their walk-in tub is what we preferred over another tub because of the wider door opening and the fact that it opened up outward instead of inward. We live in a house built in the '60s, and the installation team did the best they could under the circumstances. Our master bedroom is smaller than our walk-in toilet and they had to widen the doors. The plumbing was not the greatest as well. They even had trouble finding the shut-off valve 'cause what was supposed to have been the shut-off valve didn't work right. They had a lot of complications and it seemed like there was another problem every time we turned around. It wasn't their fault and it's the way the house was built, but they managed to overcome all of the problems.
We were sorry in one aspect because everybody kept talking about how wonderful things would be, but it's just too much electronics for an older couple. My husband is 78 and I'm in my upper 70s as well. And getting the tub is quite a lot of money though for a lot of people. Still, we are pleased with the final outcome and as far as American Standard with the tub. Getting my husband in the tub is hard 'cause he's handicapped and he's 200 and some pounds. But the bars they have put in are excellent. Also, he loves playing with the lights on there.

So far, it has been easier to give my wife who has very short-term memory a bath with the tub. American Standard has been around ever since I was a little kid and I’ve always had confidence in their products and they have the most jets of any tub like theirs. I called them and they said they’ll be out in a week. I called one of their competitors and they said it’d be three months. Also, their competitor wouldn’t guarantee one-day installation but American Standard would. I’ve had four back surgeries and I have 30 inches of titanium in my body, and my fiancée has a rare form of muscular dystrophy. We started looking into these tubs, and then when we found out that American Standard has more jets and lighting, we had to go with American Standard. We got the free toilet with it with a bidet.
Two guys came in and they completely demolished the old stuff. Within an eight-hour period, we had a brand new bathroom. The plumbing and all the electrical were awesome. The only thing I had to do is run two electrical wires through the bathroom and they completely did the rest of it. They put in a wider door and moved the switches for the light and the fan. Those contractors are wonderful guys. Our bathroom doesn’t even look like the same one. We didn’t paint anything. They came in, put the new tub and the new toilet in, and it looks like a brand new bathroom. They never put any scratches on the walls. They were so professional and so easy to get along with. They were so cooperative. The main guy that owns the company that’s doing the contracting on those tubs was so easy-going and easy to get along with. They did their job so quickly. He also needs to make sure he got the leak and said that he was gonna give us a call back in about three weeks.
When using the shower, we have to make sure we have a short curtain in there. If we have a long one, we gotta make sure that we drain the tub or else all the water would go out. The sales guy from American Standard whom we worked with was well-informed and very polite. The price they offered was the best value and so we had a tub installed at my house. The installation went smoothly. However, we had a few issues the first month though which their crew had to come back and correct. There was an electrical issue and a part they had to replace. There was also a leak that they had to fix which did some damage to my basement tile. They didn't offer to replace those so I'm kinda disappointed. I replaced those tiles myself. Even so, my mother-in-law and my wife use the tub a lot and they seem to like it.

I liked American Standard's salesman. He explained everything to us and helped us make a decision. The installation thereafter went really smoothly. The guys who put it in took about half the time we were told and did a good job. The tub works like it's supposed to. I'm almost 70 years old and now I can wash my feet again.

I wanted a tub that had jets in it and that was a walk-in tub because I have arthritis. We had a very nice rep from American Standard and the installation of our wan-in tub was okay. The installers were nice and they were here for maybe two hours. But I didn't know until after they left that they had not put down all of the screw-down legs that level the tub. I'm a single person living here by myself and I didn't know enough to go in there and look it over well to see that it was finished.
When I went to put ceramic tiles around the walls that finished the bathroom out, it was unleveled. We took the back panel off of it and noticed that some of the legs weren't screwed all the way down. My son got down underneath there and finished leveling that stuff. But it's still about an inch off the floor so we had to put some molding around it to box it in so it would fit.

I talked to somebody from a couple of companies and American Standard came to have the best price going. The installers did a god job with our walk-in tub, although it started off kind of bad. At the time that I was getting the estimates and everything, I was doing it for two different houses. The installers were then supposed to go to the other house but they came here instead. And it was on a day that they weren't supposed to be here. They were kinda confused as to what was going on and so was I. But once it got straightened out and they got to the right house with the right tub and everything, it was not a problem.
With my tub, I really kinda like that the water stays a nice temperature. I also like the jets because you get that water feeling. But the other features don't really impress me that much. The lights are kinda stupid. Why do you need lights in a bathtub like this? Also, there is the fact that when you get into the bathtub, the door opens into the bathtub. There's no room and it's very hard to get in and get the door shut with the body in the bathtub. Other than those, I'm satisfied.

The tech had a bit of a problem with the tub itself but otherwise, he was good. So far, I like the ease of cleaning it. It's one smooth surface which is really good to walk on. Also, American Standard did my warranty really well. I had a little warranty problem and they came right out and fixed it.

I'd gotten to the point that I couldn't take a bath by myself. I had to have help getting in and out so I was looking for somebody that I felt would be the best to do the walk-in tub project. I knew that American Standard had a good name and I called them. Their rep was very nice but he didn't hold up to the bargain. I have arthritis. I need support getting myself up and down in the commode. In the contract with American Standard, the rep wrote that a grab bar was to be installed next to the commode, which I have in my other bathroom.
A man came, put the project in and did an excellent job. But when I asked about my grab bar, he said it was not in his order to put a grab bar in. He asked if it was in my contract to which I answered that I was sure it was. He told me to call my representative and discuss the matter with him. I've called him five times but I never heard a word. Consequently, I am a little put out. I was going to call American Standard about the situation but I just put off doing it hoping that the guy that wrote the contract would fulfill his part.
We are very sorry to hear about this Bonnie. We will have someone reach out to you soon.

My mom is elderly and she doesn’t have enough balance to support her body so she keeps falling all the time, especially in the bathroom. We had a regular bathtub and my mom used to fall in that and in any other bathtub. She also has severe backache, so she has been on all type of painkillers for that. The best bet would be to have a safe walk-in bathtub and it would limit her falling unless she tries to do it by herself. And also, there is the jet stream that massages her back. So, it was not a difficult thing to decide upon and I went with American Standard.
We have installed a bidet along with the bathtub and the jet stream that activates it doesn’t function anymore. I tried to open the console on the side of the wash basin that it was fit but I couldn’t get to open. I wonder if the battery died out or if the bidet is also covered by the warranty. Other than that, my mom likes the safety factors on the tub and that she can sit and relax. Everything is in hands reach and accessible. Even for the regular shower that she uses on a daily basis, it’s very convenient and safe. She's happy with it. She also likes overall the jets but we don’t use the jets on a daily basis because of the extreme amount of water that is needed and of the water bill that comes up. It's at least once in a week or once in 10 days that she uses that.

The people came on time and told us what they were going to do. They were professional at what they did. They also demonstrated to us how to use the product. They did not damage any of our furniture or our house, and they cleaned up after they finished.
The only thing is the walk-in tub is very noisy. We also had a problem with leaking. We thought it was a plumbing issue and we got a plumber to come. He and his team discovered that it was coming from the tub itself. I contacted American Standard about that and we decided we would just let them move forward with it. We had two leaks that ruined the carpet in our bedroom because the bedroom is adjacent to the bathroom. American Standard's people came out and fixed the leak. He knew what he was talking about and I really appreciated that. He gave me all the information, and I didn’t feel pressured. The sale went very smooth.
The guys who installed the tub also did such a nice job. They were very courteous and cleaned up their mess. They explained everything like how it worked and went over it a couple of times, also what you have to do and things to be careful of and how to clean it. They went over everything with me, which was really, really nice because this is kind of a different kind of tub. There are some things that you need to do a little bit different. They had to reroute my plumbing. It was on one side of the wall and they had to put it over to the other side. So they dug in all around the old tub area when they took it out and it was about 10,000 times better than it was before they came in. I love the tub. It’s a beautiful, beautiful tub.

My wife and I are in our late 60s, and getting in and out of the shower is difficult. Mostly taking baths was difficult because getting out was hard. We came across an ad for a walk-in tub on some magazine, and we looked at a couple and decided, "Well, that's something that we want." We certainly need it. We like the idea of a walk-in tub. So, we started shopping around and looking at what American Standard was compared to the other ones were and eventually came to choose American Standard. Price-wise, I never did get a quote. We had a guy come out to quote us on the Safe Tub, but that was two days after we signed the contract, so we had to turn him away. But other than the expense, we're very happy with American Standard.
There are two problems that we're having. One was the hot water heater. And that's not the company's fault, that's out fault. We thought about getting the tankless, and I didn't like running three wires of 220. It had three breakers to the panel. So, I went with a bigger hot water heater, and then we found out it didn't have room to put it in where the other one is, and I'm still working on that. So we haven't had a chance to fully use the tub the way we want to because we've had holiday guests for the last month. And there is no way I could keep work on it. I had to knock out a wall in our little closet to put it in. But that's on me.
The other thing was when it was put in, the floor may have not been quite level where it was installed. So my wife can fit in the bottom for a bath, but I can't. For me to take a bath right now, it only goes up to the seat until I get the hot water heater put in. Water was running along the back lip of the shower where the tub curves and meets the wall and was caulked. It doesn't fill the little void there, so it acts like a little channel and the water comes down that channel and then drains onto the floor. We were wondering, "Why are we getting water on the floor?" So we experimented a couple of times and figured out that's what it was. So for like $7, I bought a splash guard, and it's a little L-shaped adhesive thing that fits in the corner and it holds water. So we take a shower now, and when we get done, we take a towel and wipe that out and there's no problem. Other than that, I haven't had any problems with it.
I was pretty pleased with American Standard's customer service. They got good communication. I'm retired, but I worked a lot of part-time jobs last year. In fact, I had seven events where I was gone, and I had to change my appointment because one of the jobs that ran over longer than was as expected, and American Standard was really easy to call and change the appointment, and then come to find out I didn't have to in the first place because we finished before they thought we were going to. But the appointment was changed easily and new appointment was made and the contractors came out and did their job.
The only thing is the expense. You can go to Lowe's and buy that very same tub for $6,000. And it was 16,000 to put it in. So, that's high. It seems like that was excessive. But it's a great product, I love the lights and floors. Even the fact it scares us sometimes when we use it. We get out, and 10 minutes later the fans come on. It kinda startles you a little bit. But I think that's an awesome idea. Blowing out all the excess water that may be in the tubes is pretty ingenious. The aromatherapy stuff, the upper-lower blower selections, the shower attachment, and the grab bar are great. It's a very good quality tub.

My American Standard Walk-in Baths experience was not bad at all. I just noticed that when the installers left, they left an awful gap on one of the walls here. At the back of the tub, there’s an open area that’s about half-an-inch wide that has never been sealed in. And it’s gonna allow a lot of steam to get in there and cause mold. So they didn’t really complete their job and nobody has called me back. But other than that, the use of it has been fine. It’s been great.
I had just the shower at that point and that was easy to fall in, and this tub is not easy to fall in which I like. It’s not dangerous in any way. I like the lights in there because it helps me see what I’m doing with my feet and that’s a great feature. I don’t have the aromatherapy because I have a chemical sensitivity problem. I ended up with a disability because of it, and I don’t miss the aromatherapy at all. This tub doesn’t have all of the bells and whistles that the big Cadillac does, but it does everything just like it. And I like that. Because the one I picked was more for a veteran’s and it does everything that you want it to do.
It wasn’t the crews that came in that I was so upset with, it was the guy that owned the company that sent the crews out. He was disrespectful. Every time I tried to talk to him, he has an attitude. I think he needs to stay out of it. There was a guy by the name of Frank in that group, and he was wonderful. And this guy dismissed him and didn’t let him come back to finish what he started. I’m very, very satisfied with the tub and overall too, except him.
Thanking for taking the time to leave this feedback, Val. We will have someone reach out to you soon.

I liked American Standard Walk-in Tub's lifetime guarantee, that it was made in America and it seemed to be the best, so I went with them. My interaction with the sales rep was very good as well as my experience with the installation team. It took them two days to install. Kirk tried to tell them that the way the door opens, it would not go over the high rise seat. They would not listen to him. He's been doing this for years. He brought the tub in and sure enough, the door would not go over the seat. So, they had to take it out and get another one, and they were very quick to do it. They came out on a Monday and did everything and had to bring the tub back out. And then that Friday, they came out and had the right tub so that the door would go over the high rise seat.
I love our tub. Although right now, we've got a problem. The seal on the bottom of the toilet is not sealing because there's water running out of there. It's coming from around the very bottom of the tub and I've been mopping it up for three days. The seal must have come loose. We got a problem with our septic tank and I've got someone coming out to look at that. After I get that fixed, then I'll find out if that seal has broken, and then I'll call them and tell them that they've got to come back out and replace the seal.

The guys did it in one day. They got here and it was late in the day, but I told them it was fine with me if they wanted to work a little later and get it done in one day. And that was what they did. They did an excellent job. My wife can get in and out of the tub without any assistance at all -- we are both very elderly. This tub is much more convenient and it also has been safer for us to be able to use it.

He hasn’t used it yet, but we’re trying to get him in there to use it but he’s so used to taking showers. And I said, “Well, once you use that tub, then you won’t start taking those showers no more. You’re taking that tub all the time.” The quality of the tub is good. The cost was alright as well. I didn’t think it was gonna be as high as it was, but now I’m enjoying the heck out of it. I recognized the American Standard name as a high quality name, and I purchased the Jacuzzi tub from them for $18,000. We also bought a commode that is $700. The tub was hooked up late October and in three weeks that it was operating, we didn’t know it was leaking until we spotted the rug was wet in the living room. We called up and they came out. They said they fixed the leak. I pointed out to the man who installed it that the rug in the living room was wet, and he didn’t say anything. He just walked out of our house. It leaked two more times after they told me it was fixed. The leak has caused extreme damage, and it's been a month and a half. Now, our whole house is all torn up.
I called American Standard. I wanted to speak to Martin at the customer service who was handling it. But he's on a two-week vacation and he’ll be back tomorrow. I've documented everything with photographs and we got a hold of a company who’s going to do the repairs. But I can't wait ‘til the tub has been removed out of my house because there's no trust there anymore. So, I'm in the hole for $18,000, and I'm hoping that American Standard will be interested enough to discover why the tub was defective. I'd just like to get my $18,000 back and I don't know if they're gonna stand behind it now. The lady I called in the number told me there's nothing wrong with the tub, that it's all in my head.
I don't know if the man who installed it works for American Standard because they're in Texas, and I don't know if it was his fault or if the tub was defective. I've had blowers and heaters in the living room and in the master bathroom for over three weeks, and the house has been noisy. My wife just had a neurosurgery on her spine, and she should live through this, and it's just been a nightmare. This was the Christmas gift to her because she's disabled. It had a door that opens up and you step into the tub and close the door. You see how perfect this is for disabled wife that I've been married to for 60 years, and I've made her life horrible, plus losing $18,000. It has been a horror story. I'd like the tub and the commode removed. I really, truly need some help. I've lost all my faith in American Standard.

We talked to all the different companies and we went with American Standard because of the quality and the sturdiness of the tub. And it’s steel instead of the aluminum. It does what it’s supposed to as well. When we got it, we didn’t have a big enough water heater, and American Standard told us that it was fine. We ended up getting a 50-gallon. Then we had to wait on the tub. Since the time that we got it, the only problem we have is when it does the blowout, it’s still blowing out dirt. When you’re done, it does that blowout thing. They said that sometimes, it takes more time. We've had the tub, with the water heater working, for four weeks.
The installation team was here for three days. It was great. We also had here the director of the area. He was one of the beginning ones with Standard Walk-in Tubs. So, he’s one of the higher-ups. The installation team had to take out a door and part of a wall. And we had a cast iron tub that they had to take out. It was amusing. We had trouble at the time when we were trying see if our credit was good to get a loan but it wasn't American Standard's problem. It was supposed to take 7 days, 14 days. But we didn’t get the paperwork for almost four weeks and they had to redo it. I kept calling to ask where it was, and they said the information in the card had already been sent out. Everything else was fine.

I’d been researching through AARP and the VA, and my Medicare programs. I had to decide, do I get a walk-in tub and then modify the downstairs bathroom, or do I put in the chairlift to go the second story of my house? I have a two-story home and I’m a wounded veteran. After talking about it effectively and financially, the tub was the answer, and then I had to find out which tub was the best for me. I had my adult children in their 50s research it on the computers and we came up with American Standard. We had a representative come out to the house, and she was very effective.
We had a local plumber do all the insulation in the entire bathroom, and I've never seen anybody so helpful. They had to put a new heater in and American Standard helped me financially on that. I basically have a brand new bathroom downstairs. People look at it and they say, “Wow.” I’ve even discussed it with my fellow veterans in my VA groups. A lot of them are handicapped, and a couple of them came over and will be contacting a representative. I’m very happy. It’s perfect for me for my own use.
We hope that you enjoy your tub, Richard!

Working with American Standard was excellent. The installer was really good. The floor joists are turned the wrong way in my house. So, the drain’s a little slow. The installer spent a day and a half here and he had to run a separate drain. Instead of going straight out, it goes under the tub and then down. The entrance to the tub needs to be wider for larger people though. Anyone considering it should look at one first and make sure, like getting in and out.

We investigated several companies, and we liked American Standard's 100% lifetime warranty on everything. That was very important to us. We also liked the features. It has many more jets than most of the ones that we looked at. Plus we liked the salesman. Other salesmen were like car salesmen, and that was not the kind of people that we wanted to do business with. There was a bit of a delay during installation, but we got it fine and it’s very enjoyable. The biggest problem that we see is to use it as a tub. It’s just like any other tub, but it takes a considerable amount of time to fill up so that you can enjoy all of the features. We use it as a shower more than we do a tub at this point. But we very much enjoy the walk-in features because as we age, it is more difficult to get into and out of tubs and it’s more dangerous. So, this is a good safety feature for us.
We also didn't really realize till we got into it that you have to get into it while it’s filling. That takes a little bit of time. And having a sufficient water heater is very important. Ours is a little on the small side, and if we had a 50-gallon rather than a 40-gallon, it would have been better for us. Overall we’re very satisfied, but the price is quite excessive compared to some others. In the long run, I hope it will benefit us to have paid what we paid for it, but it does seem like we could get most of the same benefits for considerably less money. But we wouldn’t have the 100% warranty, and that’s worth a lot.

I was told by the American Standard salesperson that the tub has heating units on the two sides, the feet and the back, and there aren't any. So, I felt he misrepresented what he was selling. But on the other side, it's been really good. I would offer a thought on the control. It's difficult to try it because you got the hot and cold control for the water. If it was a single lever, that'd be a lot better for controlling the water because anybody that's kinda disabled got a lot of things to deal with. Besides that, it got another control for the shower part. So, you're trying to adjust the water temperature plus turning on the shower and shut it off. I think there's some way they need to try to make that better for the consumer. But otherwise, we've been very pleased with it.
One of the things that was not explained is cleaning it and what to use for cleaning that tub. I use either Tile X or Clean Shower, and I spray that right on there right after the tub is used to try to take any of the soap scum off. But there ought to be a little bit of a discussion about cleaning it, so a person knows just how to go about it. I also picked up a brush that doesn't scratch, so I can clean it with that.
The installation team was absolutely fabulous. The work was done well. But what I really appreciated most was the relationship, the way that the guys talked to us, and we just had a fun time. And they were very congenial and that reflected on the whole installation and on American Standard. They were professional at what they did. They got a good team there as far as American Standard goes as to what you're getting out in the field once the product is sold.
I looked online, and the tub was like a $4,000 tub. I spent $11,000 to have American Standard come in and install it. It would've cost me something too to have somebody else come in and do it. I really felt like it's an awful lot of money. Perhaps $10,000 would be a more reasonable price. And I did talk to one of my coffee mates, and they were going to buy one. But they thought it might be around $8,000 to $10,000, but for $15,000, it was too much. I'm supposed to get a warranty on everything for a lifetime, and that's good. I wanted to buy the best for my wife, and I feel like I got the best. One of the real things about it was it has 44 hydroports, many more than the competition, which is important. And it's a good unit, so I'm very satisfied.
Here's another selling point for them. This was my rationale for buying. My wife is quite disabled. If I could keep her out of a nursing home for two months because of using this, I have paid for it. It was well worth it. Because two months in a nursing would cost me the same thing as the tub. And then, you pile on top of that the satisfaction, which I say how much she likes it and what it does for her and gives to her, bathing more often, and that part is worth something too.
We appreciate the feedback, Richard! Enjoy your tub.

I got a good deal on it, and the salesman was very knowledgeable and good. He wasn’t pushy, he gave us all the information and he answered our questions. I had other companies out too, and I felt more at ease with him. Also, the installers were wonderful. It took them a week, but they were there the same time every morning. Every day, they cleaned up after themselves. I had to have some electrical stuff updated that they made me aware of, so I had electricians to come out while they were there. The head of the team actually took the electricians down and showed them where he saw the problem was. And he let me know whether what they were talking about was a good price or not. He also took his time and went through how to use the tub, how to clean it and what not to do.
Overall my tub is excellent and I love it. I had two back surgeries and I was having a lot of stiffness, and the tub helped out a lot with that. It has the jets and the bubbles in it. The door opens outward, so I can walk in and sit, and then close. So it makes it easier to access. It doesn’t take a long time to fill up, and it empties very quickly, too.

They came back out to redo the wall but I didn’t think they did the best quality job with that, which we kind of let it go. But the tub is great. Many people think that it's an old folks tub because of the ease of getting in and out, but the hydrotherapy is wonderful. My dad ended up not using the tub much, and when he passed, I used it and I loved it. The first time I used it, I put a little bubble bath in it and that was a no-no. Also, I wish it had a built-in neck support for when you sit back. I had to get a removable one, which worked okay, but it didn’t always stay on. American Standard Walk-in Baths's sales rep was absolutely wonderful. He explained everything and went into detail. The installation team was very nice also. They came on time on the day they were supposed to come, they did what they had to do and they didn’t bother me. The quality of the tub was fine. My problem is one of the hoses came off. And I’ve been waiting three weeks now to get it back on. The first week, they had to ship me the part. They shipped me the part and it has been here for two weeks. The part came two days after the guy who would install it had called it in.
I have already made two appointments with this gentleman. I have to work and I have a job that I cannot get out of every now and again. The guy said that he had scheduled it with me for last week. It wasn’t on my email and I told him, “I will be home on Monday. I will take off on Monday. Can you come on Monday?” He said okay. So, I took off and waited all day long for this man, and he finally texted me late in the afternoon and said that he can’t make it, that he’s stuck in Charleston. I texted him this morning and told him that I will be off on Friday, and I will get home around 11 o’clock, and I will stay home, and I will wait for him.
When the tub worked, it worked wonderfully. I liked it because it was relaxing. I have a very stressful job and I was able to sit in there and relax. Even if the jets wasn’t running, it was very peaceful. I have had the Quick Drain installed, I have the jets and the bubbles too. I have recommended it to other people. I’ve told them, “Come over and look at it. Sit on the toilet. The toilet heats up." I am very satisfied with it. I probably waited a little too late in life to get it, but I deserve it. I know if I call the guy who installed it, he would’ve been there the next day. Now, I don’t know about this guy here. He’s not the same one. I don’t have a problem with the tub. I just wanna be able to use it.

I thought I'd never get the tub paid for because I'm just able to pay the minimum payment, but the tub is a great tub. I can get in it, sit down and feel safety. You're not gonna fall or get hurt. It made me feel a lot safer. I had called in earlier this year about them not coming out and saying how much it would cost putting a walk-in shower because my special need, she's got scoliosis and cerebral palsy. We've been down since March and my aid said they can't get her in the bathtub. They say the hole is not big enough. American Standard is a good outfit. The only thing is we're having problems with the showerhead. We were gonna call but my husband and I have been ill. Also, our tub is accessible but I don't like the way you have to get in and out of it because it's small. Other than that, it's alright.

We had the old-style tub where you have to step over it, and my mother-in-law fell and she broke one rib. She was 91, and she had been thinking about getting a walk-in tub for a long time. After she fell, she had the walk-in tub put in. She loved the jets and the air jets. She was more comfortable with the tub because she can do it by herself. She didn't have to worry about falling again. My daughter-in-law asked me how my mother-in-law liked the walk-in tub, and I told her she really liked it. So they got one also, and they like it a lot.
My mother-in-law passed away in June, and we have moved to her house, and I love the tub! I look forward to relaxing in it. It's calming. I have a son that is 23, and he's a pretty good-sized guy, and he's a little developmentally delayed, and I don't have to worry about him using the tub. He could get in that tub by himself. He knows how to push the buttons and what buttons to push. When my husband fell and broke some ribs, the tub really made him feel good with the calming water. He is tall and big, but he could walk in that tub and fit and then feel good. We use it every day.
We love hearing things like this! Thank you for taking the time to let us know, Sylvia!

I'm not getting any younger and have back issues and I decided to purchase a walk-in tub. American Standard's walk-in tub had the features that I like, but then it sucked. Their customer service also sucked. The tub was installed so that the spray was over the hole that holds the spray. You can't mount the spray because it'll go down the hose and leak down into my house. When they came, they said there was nothing they could do about it because it was the way the tub had to be up.
I can't sit in the tub and relax because the bench is too narrow. And there's no way you can recline in it like they show in the pictures because, in order to recline like that, your butt would be off the bench. The tub is also loud and annoying to use. I asked them to remove the tub because I didn't like it, but I called a day too late. They wouldn't take it out so I'm stuck with a tub I totally hate. I almost paid $8,000 to have it removed, but I thought that I didn't wanna pay 8,000 and lose the $15,000 I paid to have it put in

They were really nice to us, and that's a big concern when you buy a big item like that. The installation team had to work late that night, and they had another job to go to. But they still persisted and got it done, and we're happy with it.

I got the tub for my husband because he had a lot of leg problems. I lost him a year ago, but it made it easy for him to get in and out, and we really love it. We’ve told a lot of people about it. My son also uses it. He had ripped his ACL when he was in high school and that really helps him a lot. I was a school teacher, and if I were grading it, I’d give it an A-plus. When the installers came, we enjoyed them. They were nice people, and they explained things as they went along. They were wonderful. When you buy things, I wish more people would explain how to use them. I recommend them anytime.

We had a guy come in and he was quite a good salesman. We got so excited and we bought the American Standard Walk-in Tub. I only use about every six months. I still like my shower. One of the things I don't like about the tub is that it doesn't help me from the bottom of my shoulder blades to the top of my neck. I have to really lean down in the tub to get massaged. I'm 6-foot tall and from the top of my chest to the up is out of water. If they could come up with something that was built for a 6-foot tall or taller, I'd probably use it more. I just pay the difference on a new one and then I'd probably be more inclusive and inspired to use it.
The other problem I have is I only got a 30-gallon hot water tank and I only can fill it up about halfway. I wait about 15 minutes to fill it up and then it's hot enough, I like at that point, and then I fill it up the rest of the way to do my lower back 'cause I can't get my upper back unless I squat down. Other than that, my legs feel good when I use it.

The quality of the tub from American Standard is very good. We, however, had some peeling at the threshold of the door. I called them and the two guys they sent out were both local. The first guy said the paint was peeling and all he could do was paint it and it would peel again. So, I called them back to get them to send someone that could do something more than that. And they did. They sent another one out and he fixed it. You could not tell there was ever anything wrong. They told us at the time that it was guaranteed forever and that if we moved, they would move it without any charge or come out and do any repairs that were necessary.
The tech was very courteous and they got the job done quickly. They left no mess, too. It was a good experience for both of us because we were to the point where we didn’t even try to get in the tub and then back out. We could not do that without risking breaking our necks. So, we stopped using the shower, called them, had them come out, had them explained it to us, and had them do it. We decided that it was expensive but it has been worth the price. We are happy with it.

I had Safe Step, Kohler and American Standard in to give me an estimate. The price for each was within $500.00 of each. The Safe Step and Kohler salesman were VERY HIGH PRESSURE had to make up my mind today or the price went up. All they talked about was how bad the other companies were. They had pictures to show a bad installation and said they used parts made in China. Andy from American Standard didn't say anything about the other companies. He had a case with samples of the faucet, fixtures and shower wand/head. Andy was not high pressure just talked about his product, gave me a couple days to decide. I was very impressed with him. So I went with American Standard (Liberation) with a door that opens out.
The installation went great. They were here a little after 8 am, were very courteous and got to their work. They showed me how to work the tub and I signed the papers around 7:30 pm they were finished. You couldn't tell they were here the place was as clean as it was when they started. BEST MONEY I EVER SPENT. I have had several surgeries in my 73 years (both knees and several back). I would recommend American Standard over the rest. They are built better and offer more functions.

The one that sold the American Standard walk-in tub to us initially wasn’t very good. When he walked in, my mom was in a wheelchair and that would’ve been a first indication that we needed a wider door. And it took getting the smaller door delivered and trying to get my mom in it when the contractors came to install it before we got the door that we needed for the tub.
Training of the representatives who are going out and selling the tub should be first and foremost the biggest priority so that people get the right tub to begin with. Because it was another three to four weeks before we got our tub. So, there should be somebody who has some common sense and evaluate the people who are going to use it. We happened to get a person who was more interested in selling a tub than getting the right one. But, we got it fixed, and it is a good tub, and we’re really happy to have it.
The contractors were good. There were a couple of things that they could’ve done a better. But the repair guys that came were outstanding. They were detail-oriented and they explained things very well. They made suggestions on things that I could get to help with my mom who’s 94. They were awesome. So far, everything has been doing fine with our American Standard walk-in tub, other than the fact that we have to replace the control thing because it keeps getting damp underneath it. That’s more of the way it was manufactured rather than something else. Just one of those little glitches with the way it was designed.

We had problems on the initial installation of our American Standard walk-in bath. The guy left the tub dirty and I ended up calling somebody back because it looked like there were scratches in the tub, but most of it was just dirt. At first, I couldn't get a hold of anybody, so I sent pictures of what looked like a scratch to the gentleman I bought it from. Then he forwarded it on to the company. The coating also came off the latch on the door and they had to send a guy out to replace that. And I wasn't here when he came, but when I got home, I put the handle on myself because he had it about to fall off.
We had some problems with the pumps, too. It was an intermittent problem and the drain would just kick on out of the blue. And my mom primarily is the one using the tub. She's got dementia, so I can't rely on her to turn it off if it happens to pump out all the way. Eventually they got the pumps corrected. It took them a couple of tries to get that, but they stuck with it until they finally got the right parts changed and it has been working fine.
Aside from that, a lot of the silicone was not sticking and it was coming off from the wall. I have to replace that and when I asked about it, I was told that caulking's not covered. Plus, the paint has pretty much come off on the cast aluminum on the bracket that the door's mounted on that seals the tub, so I'll be putting in a request for that before too long. But as far as the tub working, we don't have a problem there and the tub itself is good. It's just the paint that they used or the coating is not sticking. It eventually flakes and peels off. I also got a call from somebody at the same company that came out and did the repairs, and he seemed a little bit irritated. But I told him that we paid a lot of money for this tub and it looks like the coating is knocked off of it, so I'm gonna get it fixed.

My husband was 95 and he was falling quite a bit. Since my sister and her husband was in a nursing home and she was writing checks for about $13,000 each month, I decided that we needed a walk-in tub because I had had a stroke and I couldn't step out on my left leg, which was the one I had the stroke on. If we had stayed in our house, I wouldn’t have felt the need for the walk-in tub. We had a shower that was just a few inches high that you could put a chair in and my husband could take a shower in and never take my chair out. And if we had to move a wheelchair in there, we could in the other bathroom. But our house was so big there, we later downsized, which really was a thing to do.
The young men that put the tub in were very polite. A few months after my husband passed away, I realized with the walk-in tub, I could turn around and step out on my right leg, which I never thought I could do. And I do enjoy it because I’m 91 and I feel safe when I’m getting in and out of the tub. My American Standard walk-in tub keeps me out of a nursing home because I didn’t just have a shower. I'm pleased with American Standard Walk-in Tubs and I'm handling it better. But before that at one time I'd have to do my sprinkler coil a certain way to get it back down in and to get it back up. They told me to twist it around, open it up and I'm not able to do that. It didn't feel too good afterwards to try twist it. They said the last time was to turn it the left, to the right. But now I finally got that straightened up. Also when I first turned it on there was a snail that come through the pipes, through the little jet things. And it finally went away. I don't know if the pipes are supposed to be sanitized. But it cleared up.
But there needs to be sensors to those walk-in tub doors because people may be just like me. I am not old, but I am not young. You gotta watch the door. I'm gonna have to hold on to make sure the door is wide open before I get out. Now, I didn't wanna hang on to the door. But that's all in the past. The tub is okay. I am satisfied with it now. But I do have problems with the little lights. It just won't come on and stay on like they're supposed to. It would go blinky red and green, purple, yellow, lavender and all that going on. I don't know what to do with it to keep that on to the color I push on. When I'm taking my bath it's not comfortable, but I manage it.

The installation team said that they could tear up my old tub and have it done in a day, and I was a little skeptical. It was a big mess for a while, but mostly just in the bathroom, which is over an unfinished ceiling in the basement on the first floor. I was favorably impressed with them being very efficient at putting it, and I expected it would take longer than it did.
The tub is great for showering and to just sit there and have a shower and reach your feet, which is hard sometimes when you’re standing in the shower. I like it. During the time that I had it, I had a knee replacement. So, especially with something like that going on, it was very nice to have. I was in construction for years and I used American Standard fixtures throughout and it seemed like a better idea going with somebody that I knew than using some other supplier. My interaction with the sales rep was okay, but it was kinda strange because of the way they went about financing. They financed the same tub through two different lenders. They split it in two different companies. One was GreenSky and the other was Sigma Banking. We did two different payments. I did a payment of 114 and one of 65, but when I went to refinance my house, it took a while for my bank to figure out what the hell they’ve done so I could take and pay off the tub. It’s weird and it’s also illegal. I didn’t figure it out until I was refinancing my house. My experience during the installation was good though. The installers did a good job.
As far as the walk-in tub, there’s a couple of problems with it. One is the seat is too close to the maximum amount of water you can put in it, and you can’t get all the way down in it. I’m a big man. I’m six foot, and my wife is 5’9” and she couldn’t get all the way down in it and get relaxed. If the back of the tub was laid back some more, you could get down and be completely submerged in the water. All you have to do is just take and lean that back about five degrees and also take and drop it about two inches, and you’d be surprised how much more coverage you can get. Also, the air jets on the bottom of the tub plug up bad where air come out of them, and you have to get in there with something small enough to open up the holes. Other than those, I've got neuropathy in my legs and feet and the tub has been wonderful on that. I can get in it day or night and sit in there for 20 minutes and my legs don’t hurt. I can go to bed.

My husband is 100% disabled and I have arthritis in my hands so to put the gasket back in the track was almost impossible. One customer care person e-mailed me pictures on how to perform this fix. He basically said it would be easy as they have women put them in at the factory and he himself had no problem taking it out and replacing it again. He was not very polite nor helpful but I thanked him anyways for the pictured instructions.
Needless to say I am now going to have to pay to have someone come and fix this at our expense. If I had to do it over again I would never have purchased this tub (huge mistake). I may actually have it removed and I will never purchase anything from American Standard ever again. Their customer service as well as the door gasket are inferior for sure.

The installation of the walk-in tub was done in a day, just as promised. We have hard water though and there are areas where it doesn’t clean up, especially around the jets. I have to work to try and clean it. Still, having the tub is much safer especially with my son.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback, Dianne.

I’ve been researching different tubs and calling several places. I liked the things that American Standard had better than the others, and I liked the price. It was high, but it was still better than some others that I had. The quality is better too. Their salesman was very nice. There wasn’t any pressure like, “Buy mine” or trying to get me into it. The installation experience was good. The gentlemen that came here were really nice and explained to us a lot of things about the tub, and they made sure it was working well before they left. It took them a few days, but they did a really good and very professional job.
I had bought the tub for my husband because he had Parkinson’s and it made it so much better for us to get him a shower and take care of him. And so, he enjoyed it also. Now, he’s no longer with us but we’re still using the tub. The quality of the tub is pretty good, but the frame where the door is has really peeled. It keeps peeling. It’s gotten worse and I don’t think it should be doing that. Still, I would recommend American Standard. My experience was good.
We love hearing amazing feedback like this, Betty! We will be sure to pass it along to our team, we know you just made their day! :)

My wife has rheumatoid arthritis, and she had difficulties getting into a regular tub. We looked at two companies, and we picked American Standard. The sales rep was very good. The installation took quite a while but they did a fantastic job given what they had to do. There was a big window in the bathroom where the old tub was so they had to make sure that the window would stay there. They couldn’t block half of it with the tub so they built a structure that allowed like a shelf right there at the bottom of the window. It goes up around the bathtub against the unit.
Since having the tub installed, being able to be in the tub is one thing that benefits my wife. Also, getting in and out is relatively easy. The unit itself is fine. The biggest thing is the construction of the structure that they had to come up with to achieve the tub to be there but not block the window. That was an amazing method. I didn’t think about that until they came over at first to put it in. I didn’t think about the window being as big as it turned out to be, but they resolved it.
The only thing is cleaning the tub is more of a difficult job. That was something that we would’ve liked more information on at the beginning to understand what to do. Other than that, it works great. We never had any problems with it. We had one service guy in the past three years, and that had to do with the drain. They came out right away.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review, David!

American Standard's crew didn't install my walk-in tub properly. We had a big water leak and the whole area was flooded. I had to call these guys that do the cleaning and everything and I went through insurance. They cleaned the mess right away and put fans in for three days to dry everything out. They ripped out the carpet and everything else. Everything got resolved pretty quickly. Now, having my tub relaxes me a little.

We’re not getting any younger, so my wife and I decided to go ahead and invest on a walk-in bath before we get too old. We didn’t want to wait till we’re 80 years old to invest in something like that. The sales rep from American Standard was great. He answered all our questions and we ended up buying a walk-in bath from them. The installation went really well. They even put in a tile floor for me. I use the tub when I get achy. It really relaxes me and helps me get a good night’s sleep. I like the pouches that you put in for the aroma therapy part of it. And our bathroom’s on the small side so we get a good covering of aroma. It’s real good. And the added right-height toilet was just an added plus.
We're so pleased to hear this, Gerald. Thank you for being a part of the American Standard Family.

American Standard Walk-In Tubs' reps were friendly and nice. I got a tub from them and they put it in well. While I was satisfied with my experience, the white caulking around the tub was not around the floor. It doesn't look nice and it's not one whole piece like around the bottom of the tub. The caulking stops and then starts again. I'm not happy at all with the caulking.
We are sorry to hear this, Linda. We have passed the info along to our team, someone should be reaching out to you.
