I've coverage with 2-10 since 2008 and I'm very happy with it. It's very convenient for me. I’d definitely recommend them. However, I've a concern with the contractors that they use sometimes. As for this last incident, they re-dispatched the contractors in the beginning of the month and they never called me. I called them on Friday and they called me back today.

I have been using 2-10 Home Buyers for about 18 years. I’ve never had any problems with claim submission. It has always been excellent. All of the contractors were very professional and experienced. They get right in and do what they got to do to get done. 2-10 has always been at the top of their game and on time when they say they’re going to be here. They always do a good job. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been with them this long.

Worst company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I have been waiting for my AC to be fixed for three weeks now. I live in Texas and we are having days where the heat index is over 100 degrees. This company doesn't seem to care that I am 8 months pregnant and living without air conditioner is causing me health issue. When I call I have to wait on hold for over 30 minutes each time, to be told something different by each CSR. When I ask for a supervisors I am advised someone will call me back, yet I never receive callbacks. This is after getting contractors that make appointments and never show up. Finally when I do get a contractor willing to do the work needed. They are being asked for over a week if the system can be just repaired and a leak sealed.
The purchasing department can't even get my coverage straight and has given the contractor the wrong information several times regarding what needs to be done. Meanwhile me as the consumer still doesn't have AC or an ETA on when I will have the AC service. This is unacceptable and poor customer service. I have been sleeping in an unfinished room that may or may not have exposed lead paint because it's the only room in my house that can have a window unit in it. This is not healthy for me or my unborn child, but then again 2-10 does not care about that. My Order was allegedly sent for ER status, yet here we are one week later and they are still giving myself and the company that wants to fix my ac the run around.
This isn't the first time I have had to wait for services. Last time my ac had a problem it took them two weeks to fix it. I thought that was a fluke, clearly I was wrong. If it requires the warranty company to pay for anything, they will try their hardest not to get services completed so that you continue to pay a monthly fee while they pay for nothing. At this point I plan to get a lawyer involved, as I could have had someone else come out and this would have already been fixed, but I put my trust in a company who has gotten a monthly check from me for the past three years and they have clearly just been stealing my money while not delivering on the services.

When I bought the house, my realtor automatically added $700 for 2-10 warranty. They were terrible at everything. They told me a service would get paid for but it didn't - that happened three times. The last issue I had was the toilet tank. The moment I called, they said it's not covered. It was inside the toilet tank so how can it not be covered? I had to put the phone by the toilet tank because the water was gushing out since the tank had broken. The 2-10 representative didn't want to give me the name of a plumber, and she gave me a hard time about covering it. I had argued with her for five to ten minutes while there's water all over the place. I finally got to have plumbing to come out two days later. When he came, I asked the plumber about 2-10 warranty and the people purchasing it. He said the only time he gets a call is when a realtor puts it into the paperwork for the buyer - exactly what happened to me.
Another issue I had was a leak in the solar panel which then caused damage to the roof. 2-10 Warranty told me that they didn't have a roofing company that works with them in Tucson. Somebody would have to drive out from Phoenix and they would charge me for that. So I had to go on my own to find someone to fix my roof and pay for it myself due to the total hassle I had with 2-10 Warranty to get it paid for. First, they told me they were gonna pay for it, and then they backed down and said they won't. They also continually gave me a hard time since the house is not in my name but rather a trust fund, even though I'm the owner of the house. I've had hassle from day one with 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty. It's been an absolute nightmare. My first year with them would be up this October and I will never renew my warranty with them.

2-10 Home Buyers Warranty was part of the transaction when we purchased our home nine years ago. We keep renewing it every year. Claim process for us is usually over the phone. The majority has been okay except that I'm not happy with the service on one of our air conditioners. We live in the south and it's 100 degrees down here. In Arkansas last week, our heat index was above 110. It’s been miserable. Our bedrooms upstairs are not cooling and it is also not cool downstairs. The air conditioner had to be replaced and they replaced it about four years ago. When we were out of town, the compressor went out. 2-10 covered to replace it in September of that year. Only used it for a month or so then when I went to turn it on the next summer, there is no Freon. So under 2-10 Home warranty, we had to pay the deductible. Same company comes out and they put Freon.
Next summer, same thing. That's three summers in a row that the air conditioner never holds Freon. This summer would be the fourth and I'm not even bothering going through 2-10 because even though I've asked them about that air conditioner which should've been installed under a manufacturer warranty and it should've been honored because it was not installed properly, 2-10 says that it's not under that. It's only under my home warranty through them so I have to keep paying the deductible. I just don't understand. When you get a product, it comes with a warranty that's separate from your home warranty. Your home warranty does not supersede any other warranty but 2-10 told me that my warranty is with them.
This year, we've decided that we're going to have it repaired on our own. The technician called the manufacturer and found out that compressor is under warranty. The manufacturer is going to replace it but 2-10 would not. 2-10 have just been putting Freon in it every year. Every time I ask, this is not normal. I should not be out of Freon before summer. It's unacceptable that I'm getting a $400 electric bill but they would not do anything on that. 2-10 should've made their representatives stand honor in their work since 2-10 sent them out instead of just saying, "Okay. You're calling for another claim." It's not another claim. I want them to honor the work that was done. For this one particular thing, I don't want them back out here. But 2-10 is not willing to discuss with me that I should not pay another $150 deductible to put Freon in something that's not right.
I'm actually having the compressor fixed. I will have to pay labor because the manufacturer has sent to the serviceman the compressor for the air conditioner unit under warranty. They ordered the compressor last week. They have to adjust installations because 2-10 representatives didn't install it right. I don't know if you get a four-year warranty on them but it was about to go out of warranty and I've had to fix it every summer with 2-10. Now, every transaction I've had with them, they have been great. Everybody they've sent has been very respectful. There have been no problems with the work that they have done.

I've had 2-10 for 13 years. I usually call to submit claims and it's always been an easy process for me. However, I had a plumbing issue for a couple of years which they finally resolved but I had to lay out-of-pocket for it. Other than that, I haven't had any issues that they haven't fixed. They’ve been pretty good.

Carolyn, thank you for being a 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty customer for 13 years.

I understand the pricing goes up after the first year but after that the price hike after year 2 to year 3 was 35% (almost 50% increase compared to year 1). There's absolutely nothing about their service that justifies that kind of increase. The rep actually became sideways when I asked her what the company is doing for customer retention and she kind of hatefully stated they are offering me a $50 discount... ($50 discount is spitting in the wind when you increased my contract from $500's to over $800). Ok they don't care so time to change to American Home Shield.

We've been covered by 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty since we moved in February. I've had two interactions with them so far - one bad, one good. First was when we put in a service call when our refrigerator was not working when we moved in. 2-10 sent out their specialist who then told them the fridge needed to be replaced. However, I had to go through multiple phone calls with them and their specialist before they would agree to replace. The other interaction was for a blocked drain pipe in the basement. They got that taken care of right away with no problem. The contractors were very good and kind.

When I bought my home, the realtor had told me that she's had 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty for years. She said that would be something I would be interested in, so that's how I got involved with this home warranty. We've had protection from them for two years now. I've only called them twice and both times, a service called within a day. I have been very pleased with their service. Both times, I called right after the service people left and commented on how I appreciated it. They were both seamless experiences - they came when they were supposed to and did the work in a timely manner.

We had a couple of problems when we got the house and we expected 2-10 to come and take care of it. However, it turned out those were considered preexisting condition. We were not too thrilled. It was disheartening but I guess that’s the way the system goes. We called them when we submitted claims and then they put whoever is going to do the work in touch with us. We wait for them to get to us and then when they get here we work with them so it’s a little cumbersome. For the most part, the contractors have been good when they come out. Then we have to change out one because they didn’t do anything but the next one was very good. I hope that as time goes on, everything works out.

We get callbacks and the people that they recommend show up on-time and were also very good. I liked the plumbers in particular. We've had 2-10 for four years. One time my furnace went out and their rep was not so helpful. I told her I had kids and the house was already down to 40 degrees. It was 10 o’clock at night and she said to call in the morning, so I said, “Wait a minute. No, I’m calling now!” But that’s the only time that ever happened. The builder of my house had subscribed to 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty and that was the warranty that I had as a result of building the house. I've had it for 10 years. Last year, it got to be so frustrating when I filed a claim to them that I researched on selecting another warranty company with a better rate and coverage. Up until then, the experiences were a hit and miss. Over the 10 year period, 80 percent of my interactions with 2-10 has been pleasant. They were at least prompt about responding to a service request when I had it. Some of the experiences have been extremely pleasant but some, like last year, were absolute nightmares.
The contractors, for the most part are prompt in following up, calling me and scheduling the service to come out. However, I have had some issues with them in that I’ve been a little suspect of the knowledge base that some of the contractors had when they came out here. I’ve also had some issues with 2-10 in terms of their willingness to cover the services on some issues. But for the most part, it’s been acceptable. I renewed the warranty again in March this year even though it went up almost $100 the previous year. Had the overall satisfaction level not been okay with me, I definitely wouldn’t have done that.

I’ve been with 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty since I bought this house in 1999. It was given as the warranty by the builder and I took it at that time. I also got 2-10 for my appliances and plumbing as a separate insurance. They are not doing much repairs but I stick to them. I’m not really happy this time because most of the time they find something on the fine print to not cover a claim. That’s the nature of the insurance company no matter what.
Filing a claim is easy, but getting the coverage is the difficult part. There is no help prior to the service to narrow down the situation and to figure out whether it is covered or not. I hate that process. The majority of the time, I come to know something is not covered only after somebody visits, checks and gives a report. I end up paying 2-10, and I end up calling another person to fix it. I spend more than I otherwise would have paid. I complained many times about that whole thing along with how nobody calls the contractor to figure out when someone would be coming out. 2-10 doesn't care. It becomes my headache to make somebody come. Other than that, interactions with their contractors have all been fine.

When we bought our house, the seller had 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty with the package. We've had it since 2008. They’re easy to sign up with but for almost the same coverage, they’ve gotten more expensive over the years compared to when we started and with other companies too. We’ve looked around a little but then we’re used to them so we kept them. It’s usually fine submitting a claim. They open up a service call and they’re good about getting back in a timely manner. They go out to a vendor or an external service company and that engagement happens fast. If we had any problems, it was not on 2-10’s side. It was more the other company. Sometimes they take a while or they’re busy. I need to wait a few days so 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty can call someone else out for me. But otherwise, it’s fine. I've never had any major problems.
For certain things like the AC, the contractor is usually the same company. They tend to be a bigger company like Sears and they’re great. We’ve had some smaller contractors for a small fridge repair and they weren’t so great. It’s a hit or miss. It depends on who they call out in the time of the year, but they’ve been fine for the most part.

When contacting 2-10 the wait times on the phone to talk with an actual person takes almost an hour. Although the customer service reps seem friendly, communication between contractors and 2-10 is lacking a great deal. I had appliance guys come in and we've always paid $75 which is really amazing. However, when the work was finished, I asked again how much it cost and they said it was $80.44 which I didn't question then.
However, I spoke with 2-10 again because that young man couldn't fix my washer, and they sent someone else. I then asked if the price went up and the girl said it did not and that it's still $75. I told her I was charged $80.44, and then asked her to put down on my record that I do not want appliance guys ever to be sent for any repairs again. That's the only incident I've had but outside of that, the price has been great and their service has been phenomenal. Purchased a home and the 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty, not happy. Called in a claim due to the heating and cooling system was leaking. The leak was so bad that it saturated a 5 x 5 area of the brand new carpet in my home. They send out a company a couple days later, give them the co-pay and the gentleman says to me "I have never worked on one of these units before." I was in shock. Had to call them 2 more times for the same issue and each time they wanted co-pay. I argued stating that the issue was never fixed. The 2nd time they came out the service person was filthy, in fact he was not even in uniform and had flip flops on. The 3rd time I called for the same issue I asked that they send out a different service person. I was told that the unit was fine and nothing was wrong with it and that maybe I spilled water on the carpet.
I have had it, and now the unit is complete toast, fired and dead. I have requested that I get a listing of local in-network providers that I could call and get service from and was advised that sorry, they cannot give me that information in order to make it fair for all service companies. Not to mention when I call there is always a minimum of a 30 min wait to speak with a live person. I now have to replace the unit and have received estimates from $5,700.00-6,800.00 and I want to be able to use a reputable company in my area, not a company from about 45 minutes away, that service and professionalism is lacking. Buyers beware with the 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty! Had to reach out to my realty company to help me.

2-10 was included as warranty when I purchased my brand new house in 2013 and this is the first time I had file a claim with the company. It has been an overall poor experience. While the process of file a claim was easy and convenient, the contractor they sent to repair my AC, Air Design A/C & Heating, was horrible to deal with. Not to mention that the last person I spoke with in 2-10 this past Friday after getting no answer from the contractor (they showed up over an hour late. I called several times before they closed no one answer the phone) 2-10 rep told me that they will not consider my claim an emergency if my house was not over 90 degrees inside even when I told her I have children, senior and pets.
She told me if I didn't like my contractor that I should request a new contractor which would delay my AC repair. I asked her to please transfer me to a supervisor and she said there were no supervisor available and that she will ask her supervisor to call me back and I have yet received a call. She was helpless. I never write reviews but this time, after this experience and paying for a service, 2-10 could certainly do better. 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty service is good, but it's too expensive. I suggest they work on the fees. I'm thinking about transferring to American Home Shield, which is $200 cheaper. I got to make a comparison to see if it covers everything that 2-10 covers because it's an a la carte with 2-10. You got to pay for the washing machine and dryer. You got to pay for this and that. I do the Supreme every year, and then I got to pay also for the HVAC. When you add it all up, it comes out to more than 700 dollars for a year. I used AHS when I had my first house - it's much cheaper and all is included.

After three months and countless calls to them and their plumbers they informed me that they would not cover the cutting of the pipe to get a snake down to fix the issue. The fact that they kept me on the rope for three months while I waited for a resolution was just to get me to my warranty expiration date. I have called a new plumber to come do the work out of pocket. Do not use 2-10, they are horrible and just want to take your money without helping fix any issues that may arise in your home. Horrible business and customer service. Would love to take them to court but that would mean more headaches on this useless business.

We bought a house a year ago and 2-10 came with it. We used them several times during the year that we had them and found them quite acceptable. It was a good thing for the first year that we’re here because we didn’t know any of the services that were available. We wouldn’t have known which electrician or plumber to call, so their service was very worthwhile. They used perfectly good people. We had them for the ceiling fan in the garage that stopped working, and they sent an electrician out for that. And then we had a couple of plumbing problems that they took care of. We’ve decided not to renew with them, but for reasons not having to do with their service.

When we first purchased our home back in ‘99, 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty was offered to us through our contractor, so we took up the contract right away and have had it ever since. I usually call in my claim. However, the rep I spoke with just a few days ago was extremely rude. I've had other times where they have been very polite, nice and helpful. Their service contractors have all been very helpful, except for one who was in charge of our washing machine claim. I've also had claims for a dishwasher and quite a few for my air conditioning.
When a large item such as air conditioning unit requires replacing, the companies that come out don't like to suggest replacing them. In fact, I'm on my fourth recall for having the same problem in a matter of a month. I called the contractor and 2-10 had already sent them the work order. However, I was told that I'm not a priority customer. So I have no air conditioning since last Thursday. They're supposed to come out tomorrow for the same problem and I bet they will not say it needs replacing.

2-10 HBW appreciates Donna Garland’s feedback as it allow our company to serve our customers better. Concerning Donna Garland’s air conditioner, the contractor has determined the condensing coil is leaking and 2-10 HBW is moving forward with a new condensing unit. The evaporator coil was replaced in 2013 and it will be compatible with the new condensing unit. Donna Garland statement that the contractor told her she is not a priority customer. 2-10 HBW strives to have all of the service providers we contract with, have a very good standing with the BBB and they must be licensed and insured. A stern criteria of the contractors we use is to provide our customers fast, reliable, professional service and anything less is unacceptable. We will have Donna Garland’s concerns reviewed and addressed internally due to the dissatisfaction that she reported.

I bought a new house and 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty was in the contract. I’ve been here since 2000 and my husband was living at the time. A few things stopped working in the first couple of years and they responded right away whenever we call them. When my husband died, I still continued on with the service because being a single woman with kids growing up and moved away, I don’t know a lot of stuff about maintenance. 2-10 used to be better than what it is now. We had it for 11 years and in the last year they have changed, it’s not the best service. We have a lot of trouble every time we called and we need help with them fixing anything. So, it’s not what it used to be. We had a lot of difficulty with the claims but, before that, it used to be great. They were here and did it well. But in the last year, we had trouble with it. The process was difficult. When we called the customer service to file a claim, they gave us wrong information on the phone number. Back in January, the toilet was flooding and we got the whole downstairs flooded. We called immediately for we needed a plumber. They said they would call us back in an hour. They never called. We called back. In the meantime, we were dealing with the water all over the floor. When they gave us the name of the provider and the phone number to contact them directly, it was the wrong number.
We called back and we had to wait. Then we got the second person and they gave us another man. We called that man and he said, “No, I don’t do that type of work.” It was very frustrating. In the meantime, I have water all over my house and it took 5 hours for someone to come. So, it wasn’t the people that came and did the work, it was the 2-10 customer service not giving us the right information, not taking care of it and not calling us back. The contractors were able to fix the toilet. The man came but it was almost close to six hours after the fact. And this was an emergency. I understand when something that can be later. I call and there’s an appliance that may be not that important, but still, it’s okay. They can come the next day or I’ll be reasonable.
But this was an emergency. This was water all over my floor. The toilet seat is coming out of the toilet and it flooded the whole downstairs and we waited, and the plumber got here almost six hours after we had to make four phone calls to the 2-10 customer service to report it. Then, they gave us wrong information or they give us the name of the plumber that didn’t do this type of work. It was frustrating because it was an emergency. It wasn’t something that could wait days. I understand sometimes when I call and place a work order or a claim, it is the weekend. I can wait until Monday so they can get someone. But, in this case, an emergency is an emergency. So, that was my last frustrating experience with them and I was talking to my husband about changing or looking into something else because they were not there when we needed them in case of an emergency.

BUYER BEWARE. To date, the Better Business Bureau has documented 731 complaints against 2-10, most of which were associated with problems with products/service and billing/collection issues. That should tell you something. The day after moving into our newly purchased home, we attempted to do a load of laundry and discovered the washing machine was not functioning. We submitted a claim to 2-10 who sent a contractor to assess the problem within 2 days, and the claim was approved. During a follow-up call to 2-10 to inquire about the status of the repair, a different representative communicated that in fact the claim was denied since it could not be determine with certainty whether or not this was a pre-existing condition. Additionally, we were told that the previous rep who authorized the repair was "new and should not have done that".
The denial of the claim to repair my washing machine is inexcusable. The very premise of a home buyers warranty is to provide peace of mind for this exact situation. To offer warranties effective on the day of closing on a new property, and then to reject a claim citing a pre-existing condition is contradictory. Particularly if 2-10 does not take initiative to inspect the systems they promise to cover in the warranty and pre-certify them.
The home was built in the 1980's, none of the appliances or any of the features of the home are brand new as of the day of closing and thus any and all wear and tear which could lead to a failure will be pre-existing to the effective date of the warranty! But this is the very reason I purchased a home warranty, to cover the unknowns of a new property! This is the very situation that 2-10 had the opportunity to make good on their promise of peace of mind. For this reason and for the previous issue with HVAC on the home I am selling, this company has lost all credibility with no chance of repairing the customer-provider relationship.
Additionally, as a full-time working professional with children, it is impractical to be without a washing machine for a week or more while waiting for the back-and-forth between a third party and a contractor. In the case of a washing machine, this claim should be handled expeditiously especially if the customer expressly requests it. There should be categories of urgency for the different claims that come through. I am much more inclined to work with a local appliance service directly to resolve the issue that requires prompt attention. In these cases, the home buyers warranty business model does not seem to work for the customer.

2-10 Home Buyers Warranty is awful. I would not be interested in renewing. We had three issues. The first of which was we had a garbage disposal and we had a dishwasher. Neither was functioning. We worked with two different companies. The other was plumbing issues. And none of those times where we contacted within 48 hours. Each time, the people gave excuses which we accepted and didn’t give them a hard time when they finally got around. When the people came, they were pleasant. The first issue to be addressed was the dishwasher. I have had a dishwasher for 46 consecutive years. So don’t come and tell me what I need to do to get a dishwasher that’s non functional to function right. I know how to rinse and stack the dishes. If the dishwasher isn’t working, it needs to be replaced. And that is the case with the dishwasher that we currently have.
However, we saw right away that 2-10 was going to Fiddle and Faddle and find all these things and we were not going to get the dishwasher replaced. And that’s exactly what happened. The dishwasher, I had to run it three times yesterday in order to get everything not sticky. We know that we will be buying and we told the gentleman that if they don’t plan to replace the major appliance. He did replace the garbage disposal and that has been well and good. However, it cost us the amount of the insurance, plus a $100 for his visit. So that paid for the garbage disposal which was not top-of-the-line by any means. Then we had the plumbing issue. When they finally got here, they did take care of it. We laughed about it because the total was $200, plus the insurance. We know a certified plumber, who I had taught when he was in school, who does work for us and would have done it for free.
So again we were not pleased. We got a dishwasher that needs to be replaced and we will end up having to replace it. And that is not what I was led to believe. I am more disgusted than my husband because my husband is a realtor and that is the home warranty insurance that his office recommends. They have found that it is better than any other. I have said to him that I don’t know how in the world you can feel honest and good about yourself going into an office and recommending people to buy this insurance when it was obvious that they were not going to take care of our needs because our needs was a major appliance in this case. This is frustrating because we're paying for a warranty. We hope and expect that they would uphold what they say they would. We would have renewed and nothing again would we ever need after that. So it would have been to their benefit in the long run. I would not recommend them.

We moved to the new home, and the top range ignite control was not working, plus the washer on the second load decided to shut down, lock our clothes in, and display an error message. We called 2-10 and they sent a local technician. Range failure was a quick electronic igniter replacement, but the washer was a master control replacement.
Washer is a Maytag 2015 model. 2-10 decided to replace the igniter, but even after the local technician suggested, they decided not to fix the washer master control, just because. They said, "we are not going to fix that because that is our decision," no more explanations given. Stove igniter cost was under the 100s, but the washer master control was above 100s, so our thought is that 2-10 is a warranty for the cheap, but for the expensive, which is why you buy a warranty, they just will say "we will not pay," and go figure. Now that I see the American Home Warranty ad on TV, I see that companies like 2-10, sell warranties with the intention of doing whatever it takes to not pay, and when they decide not to pay, there is nothing you can do.

They were not licensed in the State of Virginia and I had asked them for proof of insurance and licensing. And then 2-10 and I got into a little bit of a back-and-forth battle. It took almost a month to get it handled. And when we’re talking about a refrigerator that’s freezing up and I can’t go to the store and buy food, it’s an issue but to them, it was not. I told them, “It’s not like a washer where I could go to a laundromat and take care of it. This is a refrigerator. Do I need to go out and buy one? Is that what you’re telling me?”
The second time we called them, it was on the hot water heater and they had somebody out here the very next day which just amazed me. I knew what was wrong with it so it was just calling somebody out here to put in the thermostat which was done in one day. But I still wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. They were sending somebody out who is not licensed and then arguing with me and telling me that I was wrong, and me proving to them that I was correct is the issue.

When I had a home built in 2002, 2-10 was offered to us. When I sold that house and got another one, I went with 2-10 again. Submitting a claim to them is always easy. Although last year, I had an issue with the guy replacing my hot water heater because he did a whole lot of troubleshooting, but it didn't work. I was having somebody in from out of town and I told them that it didn't seem to be of great concern to him. But they ended up finally replacing it, although that was after about three weeks of cold water. But overall, everyone else has been great and my experience with 2-10 has been carefree, easy, and no haggle.

Submitting a claim to 2-10 was easy and I did it through a live person because I don’t talk to computers. They're helpful with the initial protocol. There were some issues but it wasn’t 2-10's fault. I have a gas water heater and when the contractor was sent, they didn't have a gas tech and couldn’t do the work. They said they're going to send someone else but they didn’t say who was going to send someone else. Apparently, 2-10 had already called someone because the contractor didn’t have a gas tech. Then I paid the $100 fee to the first contractor even though they didn’t do any work. And then the second guy came out and asked me if I'm going to pay the service fee or the deductible. I said I already paid and showed him the receipt. They figured it out with 2-10. I was very satisfied with 2-10’s portion of the experience. If I had any friends that I knew owned houses, I definitely would recommend them.

Other that that, the service has been good. I had a message to call 2-10 because we have an inspection system where somebody comes up and inspect the air conditioner and the furnace from a seasonal thing, and we were told that we probably would have to have some more Freon put in the air conditioner. We started with 2-10 when we moved into the new house 20 years years ago. We have not looked into using anybody else but the one thing that concerns us is the fact that the costs keep going up. They sent somebody different and I didn't like the vendor too much. They were supposed to be changing or fixing something out but instead of getting a new part for one place which happened to be my bathroom, they took the old one off of my other bathroom and put it in the other bathroom. I recognized it's the old one after they left and I didn't like it. The other company, Priority Plumbing, is the one I like. They seem to be more professional than the other one.

No one can tell me why and they took the oven back without even calling me to make other arrangements! I have renters in my home.
I have been trying to get this issue resolved for months and no one can tell me a supervisor's name, the CEO's name or even give me a direct line other than a 1-800 number to call which is a joke because you are placed on hold each time for over 45 minutes. I've always had good service from 2-10 Home Buyers and it's been a reasonably good value for the money. I submit a claim over the phone particularly if it's the AC because there's only one of their contractors I will accept at my home. The process is easy but getting good contractors has been a challenge at times. The first two times, the AC contractor they sent out were flaky and unprofessional people. One of the ones they tried to send one night kept putting off the call. Then he called us at 10 PM and asked if he could still come. The current contractor is fine.
The actual 2-10 service folks have been fabulous. When I call them and say that I only want this service provider for the AC, they've been very accommodating. The other person they sent out when they needed to fix the microwave was very professional. So overall, what 2-10 does has been acceptable and they do what they're supposed to do. They need to screen their contractors a little better because I don't think they're quality contractors.

Usually within a day, somebody gets back to us, tries to set up an appointment to come out and take care of whatever the issue may be. We've had decent experiences with all their providers. They're friendly and courteous, however, when it comes to cleaning up after themselves, they don’t take all that stuff with them unless you’re on top of them. But, it is a great value for the service because we've had our furnace go out and have had electrical issues, and with the 75-dollar copay, they take care of whatever the issue is. I called for a repair on my refrigerator on 12/17/15 and I was hoping against hope that maybe 2-10 would come through promptly for once and have it fixed before Christmas (it wasn't cooling). I didn't even get a return call within the 24 hour window. I called the assigned company and they said they could not look at it before the 28th. Bottom line is that my refrigerator did not get 'fixed' until 1/8/16. I can't begin to detail the inconvenience this presented over the holidays. Then it stopped working again!! Though I dreaded making another service call, I called 2-10 on February 25, 2016, and again, no one called me within the "24 hour" window.
When I called the assigned company they indicated that they "no longer fixed refrigerators". 2-10 NEVER CALLED ME or sent an update as to this fact. After spending an obscene amount of money on takeout and fast food, I charged a 'scratch and dent' model from a furniture outlet and started researching other Home Warranty companies. After a week of finally having refrigerated food again with my new refrigerator, I get an email and a call on MARCH 8, 2016 from 2-10 indicating that a service company would call me within 24 hours.
If the average time it takes for a repair is going to be 3 weeks, there should be a disclaimer. It should NOT take 3 days to receive an initial call, 1 week to schedule the appointment, then another 2 weeks waiting on a part as small as a fan to arrive from Kentucky (or wherever 2-10 gets replacement parts). I'm realizing after having this policy for over 6 years that I'm spending more than what its worth; not only am I a real estate professional, but this company came highly recommended by another real estate professional when I purchased my home. I did not hesitate because I felt it offered some measure of protection; I do not feel this way anymore and I can't wait to be rid of this policy.

He reported his diagnosis to 2-10 and they ordered the parts on Tuesday and that Friday, he installed it. I only had to wash dishes for that day. I'm not comfortable submitting claims online so I always call to be able to speak to somebody.
One time, my septic went out and 2-10 did not have a vendor for me, so I had to get my own. I had to act like the contractor when I call and work with them. It's harder for the vendors to call because that line is busier than the consumer lines. The vendors are used to it. In fact, Great Fall Septic have people in the office who call, go online and send the the information that's needed. So it all worked out. But it's a lot harder not to have a vendor. However, that was only time that it ever happened and I understand that because there's only a couple septic vendor in the area.
I found the owner of the company that I contracted with and coincidentally, he installed the septic on the house in 2000 and is fixing his own installation, which is neat. So it turned out better than I expected. It was a little bit of a challenge because I had to do more. It wasn't my decision to get my own vendor, it was 2-10's so it's more work for the homeowner that way. But again, it's the first time it has happened in 15 years, so I forgive them. Two of those contractors were not even bonded to work in my area and the other two could not do any work or even look at our problem for over a week. This would mean no gas, hot water or heat for over a week.
When I called back and let them know this, they told me I could go out of network if I followed their steps which I did and they would reimburse me for my out of pocket expenses. My total expense came out to $1896.25. They then told me they would only reimburse $644. They were unwilling to budge on this so I canceled my policy. When we bought our house, our realtor gave us the brochures for several companies. We did some comparison shopping and chose 2-10 because they seemed to be the best deal. We've been with them since May of 2011. They seemed to offer the best value for money initially. We had our first test of them when within eight months of moving in here, our hot water heater went out. They brought a service tech in who said he can't fix it and that it had to be replaced. 2-10 said okay. That plus some upgrades to bring it up to current code cost us a grand total of $15 plus the $50 service fee. We basically bought ourselves about $2,000 to $3,00 worth of service with that $65 investment. New hot water heater and everything.
When I file a claim I either call them or file it online, depending on the situation. If it's an emergency, I call, but if it's just something that is broken and needs to be fixed, I tend go online for that. Either way the process was easy. We've also had five to 10 different companies come out for different things and mostly it's been good. The companies they hire are fairly smaller companies that are not as well-known as others but that is not always an indicator of the service. Often, these are up and coming companies who want to build a reputation in the market. There are some companies that got the job done but I probably would not hire them back because they seemed dubious.
It's also changed over the years. My premiums have gone up and so has the service fee we pay for. It seems that the more well-known the company was in the local area, the more upselling we would get from them. But they came and fixed the problem. And then we'd have a smaller company come in who would say that "No. You don't need that. I've got a simple fix for you. Here you go". And it'd get fixed!
So overall, 2-10 has been great. Any issue I've had with them has been more on the people they send out. Sometimes they send out the same folks and companies every year but for other types of service, they seem to be sending a one-off. However, 2-10 Home Warranty do seem to be looking for the best value for money in terms of who they hire and send out every year. Sometimes they're successful with that and sometimes they're not.

2-10 Home Buyers Protection has been taking good care of me. When I bought my house in April 2014, my real estate agent put 2-10 in the contract, so I have had them since then. I don’t know much about the home warranty business, but every time I called and had an issue, 2-10 has always treated me right in handling it. We do good business together. I’m sure that they’re nice to everybody. I have had a few situations that occurred and they’ve always handled it in a manner that I appreciated. I file my claims online, but mostly I call to talk to someone. I’m still old school. Then I want a confirmation email for my paper trail. But on reporting, I like to talk to somebody and get a name.
There was a situation with a plumber where he had done some work, promised to finish it up and told me that I needed to have some stuff done outside of what they had done. And then when I reported it to 2-10, they got me another plumber who was able to do the work that needed to be done without costing me the extra expense unlike what the other plumber had said. In that case, I saved a couple of hundred dollars by reporting the issue to 2-10. Also, I had a heater that has been worked on by two different companies. The guy from the first company left my blower motor on a test. I called 2-10, and they got me hooked up with a second company. Even though it took a couple of coming outs, now my heater works better than ever.
2-10 always sends out different contractors - they have all been good, but some did better than others. If it’s still a persisting problem, I’m always asked if I would like to try another contractor, and if I do, 2-10 gives me another one in no time. At the time with my heater, they contacted me with a company that provided emergency service. The heater went out on a Saturday. I called 2-10 that Sunday, and on Monday, the guy came out. I’m satisfied. I got to renew pretty soon and it will be with 2-10. Right now, everything between us is good business. They even break the payments down, so it’s not one big buck payment, and I pay them monthly. They fit my style.

We got 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty when we bought our house about 4 four years ago for our peace of mind. The claim process is very easy. I went online and put in a ticket. Generally, they call me back within 24 hours. 98% of the contractors that we’ve had come out to the house have been great. Some of them won't return the call but 2-10 has been very quick at getting somebody else out that wants to take the job. We plan on using them again when we purchase our next house.

My realtor signed me up for 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty. Apparently, they have a contract with him so I had no choice but to get them. At first, I didn't like that I had the warranty but didn't know about it because the realtor didn't tell me. Then when I filed a claim for the first time, 2-10 has set an appointment for me but the contractor didn't show up. But the company apologized and we started over again with a new claim. Then the guy who came for the second claim was very nice. We chit-chatted while he worked and he knew what he was doing so I left him alone to do what he did. He also cleaned up before leaving. Overall, their claims process is easy when you get a hold of their reps and get everything set up. Although, one thing I was not happy with was when I needed the garbage disposal repaired. It was an expensive one. And when I called and asked about it, they wouldn't cover it. That was not nice and I didn't like that.

We've had 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty since August and they've been awesome. I would definitely recommend it. I had another provider when I bought my first house in ‘04 but that was a new house, so everything is good. With 2-10, it was great. When I called them, they told me they couldn’t get a guy out till the next morning. I asked them if I could get my own, they said yes and it worked out great. Their service contractor was great. He came and checked it out. We called in to diagnose it and the rest was history. It was a pleasant experience. I’ve heard stories before, especially from realtors saying that these things take our money etc., so it’s refreshing to know how it was done. It was easy. They did what they said they would do. So I was overall impressed.

I have a house that’s getting older so there are things that do go wrong in it. I believe in the home warranty business. I've been with 2-10 Home Buyers since I bought my house and have maintained my contract. They've been my provider for 10 years now. I have filed several claims and they replaced several things for me. It's getting the people here that's a problem.
Other vendors they sent were fine, but others were not the best. I found quite a few of them who weren't professional. They don't tidy up after themselves, and when they find out I'm with 2-10, they tend to delay coming and put me last. I have to call two or three times to get the appointment set or I have to call 2-10 to complain. The vendors say that 2-10 does not pay them enough. Since 2-10 sends someone here to work on their behalf, the vendors shouldn't be talking about them. As the consumer, it’s not my problem. I contracted with them too so they shouldn't treat me any differently than they treat any of their customers, and I think they do.
2-10 has also done a lot of things that they should cover except they don’t, and try to make me pay extra for a lot of things. A bad experience I had was when they put in my heat pump. It leaked through my ceiling and in my closet. A shabby guy was sent out here who didn't do anything but throw something on my heat pump and it still leaked through. My husband ended up fixing it, so I wasn't happy with that. There are things that vendors have done fast. I just don’t know who I'm going to get. 2-10 needs to think about who they're sending to a house and make sure that they're top quality people.

2-10 Home Buyers Warranty has always been a valuable asset for us. In 2003, we built our home and the warranty came with for free for the first year. And from then on, we continued to keep it in our possession and pay for the service every year because we thought it was a valuable tool with the appliances and air conditioning getting older and they get more expensive to replace items. We have used it quite a bit and over the years, it has saved us a lot of money.
When submitting a claim, they're always friendly. If I had questioned the subcontractor they were sending out to me, I always asked if there was somebody else that they could send to me. And they were flexible with it. It's timely because when I file a claim, it usually takes 24 hours for it to go through. I recently had somebody come out to do our garbage disposal. I called them and when I didn't hear back from the subcontractor, I contacted them and they told me to call them back. And within maybe 20 minutes, I had somebody out here and they repaired my garbage disposal.
I've never had a problem when I submit a claim, whether it was for my air conditioning, my garage door, or my garbage disposal. I've always had nothing but a good experience with 2-10 Home Buyers and I don't have any complaints. I have recommended them to other homeowners or my friends. I told them my experience with 2-10 Home Buyers. And even if I pay a premium, it's a valuable piece of protection of our home that if something breaks down, it's a phone call away and we're not having to worry about searching for somebody.

My realtor recommended 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty when I bought the house and included it in the deal. I've been with 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty for most of my 11.5 years. I have tried less expensive companies too but gone back to 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty both times because they take care of me. And, I've always had a positive interaction with the service contractors. They show up in the timeline and have been professional. They know what they were doing and are able to resolve whatever is wrong and if there's a problem, they call and keep me updated.
When submitting a claim, I'd pick up the phone and call them rather than go online because their online system is a little complicated for me. It works better because I tend to get my point across and it gets handled timely. They have the automated system where you don't ask for a representative, but if I have two plumbing issues at the same time and I want the plumber to address both of them, I'd ask to speak to a representative and they'll do it for one deductible because it's one home visit which cannot be done on the automated system. The calls are usually short and sweet and all of their representatives are competent and have taken care of the problems. I've been very pleased and happy with them which is why I'm back and likely to stay back.
Probably the longest call was the one where I called them because of the very first experience where someone came and was trying to get money out of me for things that would have been covered by my Home Buyers Warranty, had they bothered to call the company. The service contractors had been here to fix the heater. However, I noticed that it goes on and off after they had left, and it doesn't seem to be calibrated to the thermostat. So I called them back to resolve it.
They said that there was nothing wrong with the heater and that it's the thermostat that stopped. They replaced it and asked me to pay $125.00. I asked them if they called the Warranty company because this should be covered. They said that they replaced it because I didn't like the former thermostat. I told them that it was not working. They asked if I wanted them to put the old one back. He wasn't going to give me a copy of what he wrote on the work order (which is a boldface lie) and I wrote a response to that, signed it, demanded a copy of it and they ran out the door.
I was pleased with Mary's response when I called her. As soon as I explained that they'd asked for the $125.00, without me telling her what I wanted her to do, she understood. She put notes in that they're not to be invited back to my house because they're not welcome and referred them to the vendor coordinator and lodged the complaint. She seemed to get customer service quite well. So having had my first problem, I was pleased with the way they handled it and I think that it's important that they do that as well as provide good service for my money. I've recommended them to more than a couple of friends. They have come and fixed things on one try or if there are parts that need to be ordered and two. I found them to be competent and professional and their actual dispatch time versus my problem has been quite good.

Because when the tech came out, we know that there's a hundred dollar service fee. We paid it but they never gave us a receipt or anything to show that the $100 was paid. I had been a 2-10 HBW customer for the last 13 yrs on two homes. I am paying for the maximum coverage what they call Supreme, and my annual fee is close to $1000!! I needed few repairs in my home since November 10, 2015. One of them is leaky bathroom faucets. The initial contractor they sent simply recommended replacement. I was not happy with that contractor trying to sell me at a higher price the same quality faucets I had,or replace with shop supplies. Then they sent a second one who spent good 2 hours trying to open the faucet's handles and couldn't and recommended replacements for both. Initially they offered me buyout for both the faucets for $300. When I called for payment, they said they will subtract the service fee from it; even though the contractor collected service fee of $75.00 already, not counting waste of multiple visits and my time.
Now they say they only will pay for repair costs not the faucet costs. Not only that I have to pay for repair costs to the contractor on my own. I am still waiting for them to get this replaced. By the way, I had been constantly talking to the so called Executive team members for the last 2+ months, (not just customer reps) even they had been playing this game. I had to shut off the water inlet for 2+ months. When I called this past Saturday, they asked me to call Monday, now I see, they even showed as though the work had been completed!! What a Bogus organization! 2-10HBW seems to be a fraudulent organization with false advertising and simply rip off customers with changing the goal posts each time. Submitting a claim to 2-10 has been easy, and I did one online and two over the phone. Claim filing over the phone is normally automated and that part is a pain. If they don't understand exactly what I was saying, I have to repeat it four different times. And then, I go to a keypad system where I have to hit a number which I find a little iffy. I just reported the thing on our garage door opener and the wording of the examples to choose from made it difficult for me. As there wasn't another option, I had to pick one to go to the next stage of the process. It would have been easier to talk to a person.
But I've had wonderful response from the people that they've chosen to do the service. They've been very quick to get back in touch with us, about coming and doing whatever service was needed and very efficient. So we have no complaints. We've been weighing our options on whether to renew or not because to renew with 2-10, the price is like $200 or $250 higher than it was for the initial cost. And so, I'm not excited about that at all. The service itself has been great but the warranty, if it goes up and for the little tiny things that we've had done, wouldn't have been worth us paying $650 upfront. For three service calls it's $75, which were not major calls. If there had been a furnace out, we would have called ourselves very lucky.

My sister and her husband bought a home in North Little Rock that came with a 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty, and she told me about it. She talked to a young man from the company and found that one does not have to be a member into the home. I talked to him too and got started with the warranty company. I’ve had it for several years and I’ve been happy and unhappy with it, back and forth.
Some of the people that work for the company have not been up to par with what I’ve had in the past. Some even badmouthed 2-10 and said they don’t pay them very much and they're ready to get away from them. One man even said, “Oh, I would fix this if you pay me for doing it.” I told him, “Well, I’ve already paid them and I paid you.” He halfway did the work and I was left with a dryer that sounds like a machine that’s fixed to roll across the floor. That’s when I made up my mind that I’m done. It seemed like 2-10 got higher and higher too. It was time to renew and I’ve been checking out other places. My sister also dropped hers and has gone with a company that’s about half 2-10’s price.
While I was with 2-10, there’s one company that I promised I will not let in my home. I really liked him the first time I used their company, but we got into it over my faucet. I had purchased one that was as is or better and he brought out a faucet that was called a builder’s grade. It was in the kitchen and I couldn’t get a pan under it. I said I didn’t want it, but he said it's what I get. He got tacky and I let him leave. Then I talked to someone from 2-10. The guy told the woman from 2-10 to give me a better job, and she did. Then it got bad, so every time I would call for anything, I’d tell them to not send this person.
I never got him back in my house, but when it came to my water heater, they said he's the only one they can send out. I asked what’s my other choice because he’s not entering my home. He was really mean, was mouthing me, and intimidated me. They said they could offer me a buyout, and did. It worked much better. I got my own person to put the heater in and they went and bought it. It didn’t cost me extra for everything that was done. They did a buyout on my stove too, and did a wonderful job replacing it. They also replaced my disposal and plumbing things.

2-10 Home Buyers Warranty was horrible. I understand that it was the holiday season but they have an ad that they're available 24/7. If I pay for something as a customer, I need the service that I required for and I need it in time because I'm paying the price that they're asking for. I had a good experience last year, during summer time, when my fridge had some issue and I got a replacement within a week's time. But this year, I don't know whether I'm going to renew with them.
I launched a claim on 12th of December. The service person came in time. In the report he said that the microwave needs to be replaced. He said to call 2-10. Within 24 hours they will call me and give me an option whether to repair the product or replace it if the repair cost is more than the cost of my microwave. I called up after 48 hours and 2-10 said they don't have any details from the policy person who came over here. They're asking me to call the policy person to send the report to them.
I call the party who came for the service and he said that he already forwarded the report to them after immediately visiting here within a couple of hours. There is no communication between the policy person with the 2-10 people. When I called them, they said that they're going to call me within 48 hours again but they didn't. After three days, I called customer service and they said the claims department were to call me. But after that it was the holiday season. You can imagine that during the holiday season a house cannot run without a microwave oven. I had to spend $150 to buy a microwave. And when they finally wanted to replace it, they left me a voice mail instead of sending an email. In this kind of company, they normally send an email so that the customer who got the wrong product can be contacted. And if I call them up several times, at least they should have some kind of courtesy to call back. Their communication is just so bad.

My wife and I had our home built by a builder who offered 1-2 years of 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty Service with any new construction. I've been a loyal user for the last 11 years and now that everything is falling apart, they are finally coming in handy. I submitted a claim online and it was easy and very convenient. Their representative was pleasant and professional. Also, the service contractors we had on two separate occasions in the last 45 days were very positive and professional, especially the last one who came a week ago. However, the contractors used my cellphone when they attempted to confirm the service. I've explained to them that I would prefer they call the primary number which is a house phone. They said they really have no choice in the matter based on whatever phone number is given to them at the time the job order is placed. So from that, I extrapolate that 2-10 Home Buyers are the ones giving my cellphone number.

We purchased our home warranty from 2-10 because we heard about all the benefits and we thought that was a good deal. The last time that we called, they said some of the things that we asked for are not included in the warranty. But the service that they gave before was so good, really excellent. They send people here as soon as they can and we have no complaint. Their service contractors are very friendly and respectful, and they complete the project on time. We are happy with the service and recommended them to some of our friends.

Submitting a claim with 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty was no problem. We let them know what was going on and then they told us the contractor who was coming out. The contractors were good. They let us know when they were coming and they came when they said they were coming. They were knowledgeable and were able to answer any questions I had. When we had problems, we called them back, and they came back. The tech knew immediately what the problem was and he was back again the next morning, as soon as 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty said it was okay. And he took care of it.

We did a claim involving our refrigerator freezer not operating properly. We called the office, and their representatives were very cooperative and informative, prompt and recorded all the information. They contacted a repairman and after 2-3 days he called and we set up the appointment. They came in and apparently made the repair, replacing about 2 items within the refrigerator freezer. However, that did not work entirely. We had valuable eye medicines that we were leaving outside in the cold patio preserved.
The repair company then called back the second time. We talked and I told them that it still wasn't working right. They sent a different repairman and he replaced more parts and corrected the problem. I gave a $60 check to the repairman as my co-payment. I didn’t know if the policy is like with automobiles where we often have the election. I talked to someone about this and was told if we're going to put all those parts, why don't we just give them the credit and they'll provide the monies and add our own money to buy a new replacement. But the repair people would not proceed on that basis. I don’t know if it was the repairman himself who was taking the position to fix the refrigerator, and I don't know 2-10's policy. We would have been more pleased to take whatever the repair cost were from the institution and bought a new refrigerator freezer. But the freezer is working satisfactorily so I don’t have any complaint.

I submitted a claim online with 2-10. Service provider called me back and scheduled an appointment. They came out, did it, and everything went really well. I did one last year. It was for a leaky faucet, and the guy walked in and said “oh those are premium fixtures and I don’t do those” and I still had to pay him the $75. That one was not as easy but it was my fault because I didn’t call back and demand that something be done. 2-10 was supposed to be sending somebody else and then I never heard from the second contractor so I ended up just dropping it. I didn’t have the time to deal with it.

We called in for warranty service on our roof. A man came who spoke zero English (no exaggeration) and went on roof with a tube of caulk for less than 1 min. Roof leaked the very next day. We have no clue what he found or what he did considering he spoke no English. We called in a 2nd request asking for another service to fix roof asking as well for someone who we could understand to explain repair. 2-10 stated they have NO OTHER person to fix roof other than this person and it was up to us to find a contractor willing to come out and obtain authorization from them to fix based on guidelines sent in an email. I called several. No one was interested. Why do I have a warranty company if I have to do all this work?? Roof is still leaking 3 months later on our home we just purchased!!!

I've had 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty ever since I bought my home. My home was under warranty for the first year and they sent me information to keep it under warranty. Submitting a claim is very, very easy. I do it on the phone and they come over here and I give them the $50. One guy came and he really wasn't efficient or experienced enough to fix the air conditioner I have. Another one came back the next day and fixed it so I'm very pleased with them.
With 2-10, I have no problems and I don't have to bother trying to find a repairman, deciding if they're honest. It's very hard in Las Vegas to get people that I can actually trust to come into my home. I pay a little bit more but it's worth it because I've had the home so long now, too, and I've got total replacements and I like that a lot. This is peace of mind for me because I have no one in this family that knows what they're doing. 2-10 fixes whatever is wrong and they've been very good.

I was very unsatisfied with my most recent experience with 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty. I did my first claim online but I got no response, so I finally called. They transferred me to a company who did not respond. I called back and said they haven't responded and they said, "Oh, we'll try them again." And they still didn't respond. When they finally sent me to someone who responded, it was over a week and that's not acceptable. I would never recommend them to anybody. It's almost impossible to get in touch with a person. Everything goes through 'press this, press that'. And unfortunately, if there's a disaster, they don't have an easy way to deal with something that has to be done right now.

We had a home warranty at our previous home with a different company and were so unhappy with them that I told our real estate agent that we weren't interested in a warranty because the other people had done nothing for us when we had problems. He said, "No. I can promise you that 2-10 is totally reliable. You will not have any problems. Their coverage is excellent. I even recommend it when the first year's up that you consider continuing it." So we went ahead and signed up and we've had them since August when we bought the house.
I submit my claims over the phone and I find it highly irritating, awkward and difficult. It's very tiresome to clearly say things and be told they can't understand because it's all mechanical. The first couple of times I called, I was given people who wouldn't even come out to where I live. Then I had to go through a process to try and reach a human being to see if we could get somebody to come out. I have not found the system to be very friendly.
Anyway, when we had an electrician come out, he really knew what he's doing. If I needed something that wasn't covered by warranty, I definitely would call him to come do it. The plumber that they sent was also excellent. In fact, when we had a lift station that wasn't working in the basement, and that's not covered, but we chose to have him do the work rather than looking and seeing other plumbers. We feel that he's another person that we can trust to do a good job and be fair about the cost.
Unfortunately, Sears comes out to do the appliances because nobody else would. They are a pain in the neck. When they call you with an appointment, it's at least two weeks til they come. Then another two weeks before they'll come back to fix it because they come and they say, "Well, we need a part. We'll order the part and we'll be back. It'll be mailed to your house and we'll come back." It's basically a month before they get something fixed. Overall, I would recommend 2-10 to a friend, but I would tell them, "These are the problems I've had. So if these bother you, don't get it." I would not be a friend if I said it's wonderful and there's no problems.

I've had one claim, did it over the phone and it was taken care of very good, except for I did not probably let them know it was an emergency and when the claims rep set it up, she set it up for a couple of days later. And it was night, no water, and I was going out of town. So I kind of thought about it the next morning and I called saying, “Where are you?” And that’s when she told me, “Well, it’s coming on Friday.” I said, “I’m gonna be on a plane on Friday and I don’t have any water today.” So it got fixed right away and they came out two hours later. The contractor was nice, courteous and got it done in a matter of a few minutes. He explained to me what he did, I signed the papers, and he was on his way. So I'm satisfied and haven't had any other issues. I've recommended them to my brother.

I found that door cable on one side frayed and the roller came off the track. No worries, I got insurance! I called, described the problem and contractor came out within 24h. Super nice service, super nice guy - bargain cost of $100 to get it fixed, right? Not so fast. 2-10 called two days after the service (the check has cleared my account) to tell me that the cable is not included in the warranty. The spring attached to the cable - no problem. The cable itself, not so much. I understand how insurance works and that you are running a business. Also there had been problems with their contractors not getting the emails or notification that they were supposed to be doing business with me. So I have to call 2-10 back again and go through the whole process. I've had to do that numerous times. Also right now, I’m still waiting on a claim to get dealt with and with them paying out on. Submitting a claim with 2-10 Home Buyers has been good. I call in and set up a claim, and within a week, someone calls and comes over. When the contractors come over, they say they're having a hard time contacting 2-10 Home Buyers to get information on coverage. But I tell them that that's not my concern. We had one area where it was for the garage door and the contractors didn't know if this part was covered or not. I told them that that's something that they would have to check with 2-10 Home Buyers instead of me telling them what they can and cannot do.
There was also time they sent an electrician for a lamp -- wires inside the lump burnt out. When the contractor got here, he said that only the electrical part of the lamp was covered and not the whole lamp. That to me was a little bit odd. When I put in the call for the repair, that's something they could've told us right then and there. If they pulled up the account, they should be able to see what’s covered or not. I have to go into my warranty paperwork and sometimes I don't know where it is, right then and there. And the part that was covered is what caused the lamp to burn completely and to crack. If something that is covered is what's causing the rest of the equipment or the pieces around it to not work or malfunction, then that should be covered.
Another issue, when I started the renewal, they said my HVAC unit was covered, but I got a letter saying that it did not include my HVAC unit anymore due to the new requirements by law – it has to do with the green requirement. I don't know what it was. It was very confusing to me. Then why am I not getting a discount on what I'm paying? So I contacted someone and they said they were going to provide me with more information but they never did.
Those are the stuff that I will be bringing up prior to me renewing. I haven't had any complaints where they have not sent somebody to the house. There are good times that they have come and fixed stuff that I know if I would not have warranty, I would've paid more than $75. I have also told my friends that I was glad I did have the warranty when things started falling apart. But when you add the $600 plus I pay a year, I wonder if it is worth it or not.
