I have had Xbox Live since 2012. Microsoft does not make it clear that you will lose your remaining months of Xbox Live that you have already paid for if you cancel your subscription to Game Pass Ultimate. They convert your Xbox Live and they could just as easily convert it back if you cancel. I was paid up until Feb 2020 with Game Pass Ultimate and would not have canceled if I had known I would lose everything.
Here is why I canceled. In MS Infinite wisdom they made the app required to play their games on the PC only available to PCs that had the latest feature update from May 2019 "1903". My PC is about 6 years old and still works great. MS says it is nearing the end. It shows me the 1903 update but says my PC isn't quite ready and as soon as it is it will download and there is nothing I need to do now. I thought why am I paying for ultimate when I can't even play their games on my PC so I canceled. It was a month before I figured out what MS had done to me. MS probably thinks I will jump right back in and get my "LIVE" back but they are wrong. I learned in that month I don't need "LIVE". I saved myself $60 a year and I also quit making any other purchases like movies and games. They also ripped me off when I purchased any 2 movies and should have gotten a $5 gift card but never did. I don't care to be ripped off so I don't give MS anything in return.

Servers are always down! This is by far, the Worst service ever! And to think Google Stadia was even worse. Nope! I'd rather stick my head in a toilet than to be tortured by bad services, bad kids, always down servers, not letting me sign in, floatin' bull dung! (I had to replace the F and S words because of guideline reasons.). If I had to pick getting run over by a car and this awful service, I'd pick getting run over by a car. I got hit by one myself at the age of 4 in April of 1990 in South Philly. Almost 30 years ago. If this keeps happening, not only will gamers suffer from this outage outrage, but the gaming industry itself will suffer too as they won't make any money from DLCs or those God-awful microtransactions. (I am against microtransactions myself. So I won't be picking up GTA Online or The Crew 2.)
Anyways, it's so bad that even the website itself won't lemme sign in to notify me on when it will be back. Plus, I don't even care for online gaming anyway, I only use the service to buy DLCs on my only two games: The Sims 4, and Forza Horizon 3. And that's it. I cannot afford to buy more games let alone a monthly subscription to Game Pass. I'd give it the worst grade if I could, but with the way the industry is, I'll give it a D-.

My 12 year old son got a Xbox Elite controller for Christmas and two months later the right trigger stopped working. I called and they sent a shipping label to ship it back to them. I called three weeks later to find out the status due to website saying you will be contacted in 5-7 days. When I called they said they just received it the day before so it took 19 days for shipping. That is not right. I own a business that ship stuff every day so I know it does not take that long. Then two weeks later nothing. I call back. They then say they got a empty package and they had to look into it. I waited now a week with nothing but one email saying they are looking into it. I asked for a supervisor to call me. Takes three days to email me back asking what number. Then 5 days to get a call.
The supervisor tells me the same thing and he is moving it up a level but he was trying to say it’s my loss due to them getting an empty package. I emailed him the picture of the shipping label receipt from UPS with showing there was the controller weight in the package. Now I have been waiting 2 weeks to get another call or email that I was told I would get in 3 days. This is the most unprofessional customer service I have ever seen. I do not recommend Xbox to anyone looking for a gaming system. They have lost my whole family that had 5 Xbox systems. I will never touch one again.

For almost 3 years I have been trying to recover my account, I had NEVER entered to wrong password and I'm being told "Sign-in is blocked. You've tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect account or password." While I know both my account and password are correct I have been locked out and every number I call is disconnected and every time I try to get help I am told I need to sign into my account to recover it. And I have spent over $300 on this account and am considering switching to PlayStation because this is just ridiculous.

Last year I bought an Xbox One X. A couple weeks ago I started experienced an error where I would be booted from live/wireless network after an avg of 20 minutes. Weird I know that detail right? I was in stuck a loop of customer service for a week, and know for a fact because I was asked this same question 10 times. I was thrown around to new reps, forced to tell the same stories. Then when I finally reached someone that had answers I was told I was just barely past warranty, it was a faulty Xbox, and would cost me near price of goods to "get it looked at". Cannot even stream movies reliably on my Xbox. I am burnt, will not be purchasing another Xbox. I will not rearrange my apartment for my Xbox, owned by PS4 for 6 yrs no problems. That is cheap customer service.

Xbox One sucks! Every time I turn on it has to download upgrade. So disappointed. I bought 8 games so far from Walmart and all of them have used all my memory and have not saved any of my progress. What happened to buying the disk, put it in and have fun playing. Now it's like put in and wonder how long it's gonna take to actually get to play. I hate to say it but my PS4 is a lot better system. Gonna try to sell my Xbox to some poor fool that wants to waste his time. Sincerely, a long time Xbox fan no more.

First off I sent my Xbox in for a repair. I got NO email saying that my Xbox was getting shipped back to me. I logged into my Outlook and happened to figure it out from that. I contacted maybe like 8 people in 2 days with the SAME issue. (I wanted the address changed) Multiple people said they would change it and never did... I got ahold of one person and they said I need to change it on my own. I also called FedEx multiple times and multiple people told me they didn’t have my package...
I get my Xbox back and the cords I sent with the Xbox are not there! So I contacted Microsoft AGAIN asking where my cords are. The only response I get is that it takes 7 to 12 business days to receive the cords back AFTER you get your console. I told them I suggest they let the customers know to not send the cords in with the console and I was told that they do send out an article saying to not send your cords, which if I got one I wouldn't have sent my cords out with it... I asked about a tracking or asked what address they will arrive at (since I asked to change my address multiple times) and they told me that I just need to call and ask if there’s a package for me (I am assuming at FedEx) 10 to 12 days from now. Thank you Microsoft for the horrible customer support... I never want to deal with you guys again.

My Xbox live account was hacked and the hacker purchased 2 Xbox live gift cards. Right after purchasing them, the person redeemed them. Xbox said since I didn’t catch it before the gift cards were redeemed, that they couldn’t issue me a refund. Even though I had nothing to do with the transaction and the gift card was purchased and redeemed on their platform, they couldn’t resend the gift card from the half that redeemed it or give me my money back. They told me I would have to take it up with my bank. Terrible customer service and even worse is they take no accountability on what happens on their platform. For one of the world's leading technology companies, they can’t do much to resolve an issue with a customer. They are good at wasting customer's time and money!

Same thing happened again, I got charged and didn't receive anything. After requesting a refund, my refund request got denied for no apparent reason. There are people out there who actually deserve a ban or suspension from Xbox live. We have 3 accounts £150 a year and a lot of that is spent having to deal with suspensions of accounts for little kids having a hissy fit and hitting the report button. It's meant to be for gaming. It makes it frustrating, boring and unfair. Friends lose games so hit the report button, then you are left with unfair suspensions and told to jump through hoops to try and get it back.

Buy and Xbox and then pay money monthly to Microsoft to use online features that never work. Xbox's are absolute garbage. 95% of the time you buy a subscription and wait the whole month for the game to either update or download. I buy Red Dead Redemption 2 and wait a month for it to be downloaded even with the console wired up to the modem with high speed.
So what am I paying for? Them to put out garbage and nickel and dime you for nothing! Meanwhile every day it finds updates for every other game, it's always completely redundant. This sham they pull off to suck your money and wifi for their garbage console and games is absolute B.S., like I can't even use the wifi on my phone or watch videos bc Xbox is constantly trying to update. The download speeds are horrible. It can't keep a steady download with a wired connection for 10 seconds without stopping bc it's a piece of crap! You can't even watch a movie without it freezing out on you halfway through! Pisses me off enough I even have posted this.
Can't believe they try to sell this. I'm 27 years old, this ** is ridiculous. I go to work. Do you think I want to play this stupid machine all the time? It's never even on the automatic updates are on and it's always going! Want to turn it on once in a while and whenever that day comes it never works! And you want me to pay for that! Nickel? They should be paying me for wasting my time! I could say a lot more, could go for days with the amount of problems with this garbage. It wouldnt be too pleasant. I will probably go drown my Xbox in a river now that I'm done here! Hell with Xbox.

They said, "Sorry to be the bad news bear but we aren't giving you your money back." Still on hold to talk to a manager about this. How are they going to make me fill out a huge application and a step by step process on getting my refund and tell me I'll get it. Then to say I won't get it and not even try to inform me of that!?!? Xbox Live was great and the best gaming experience in my life for years, I've had a gold subscription with them for the last 12 years, but recently they updated their terms and service to ban you if you engage in any belittlement or communicate in a way someone may find "offensive." My first ban was due to me talking ** online about 1 year ago, I used profanity. Which I agree now looking back I shouldn't of said some of those things (swear words only, I have never physically threatened harm, or used racial slur, which is totally agreeable for account action to be taken). So learning my lesson I excluded myself from using profanity online.
I guess the old days on the first Xbox, and Xbox 360 days are long gone when people did get offended on swearing, there was this cool thing called "THE MUTE BUTTON" and that was the way things worked socially back then. (GETTING COMMUNICATION YOU CANNOT SEND MESSAGES, OR HAVE PRIVATE CHAT WITH FRIENDS.) My second time I got banned, I decided to communicate in a manner I thought would be more acceptable, sarcastically dumbing down insults to the preschool, kindergarten level. I got banned for use the most extreme language ever, are you ready... I called an individual who purposely griefed online game play, a "Glue Eater" YUP, that's all it took for BAN NUMBER 2! How exciting is this!
Here comes my most recent and last ban, which has made me so upset, I have canceled my subscription with Xbox! In a game that is PAY-TO-WIN I used a weapon that gives me a slight advantage, I received the follow message from a fellow player on the other team "premium gun using sob" Here is what "sob" stands for "Son of a **". So here is my reply that lead to my ban. "idgaf". Within 10 seconds after I sent that message, ban! An automated system, instead of real humans evaluating these reports. I encourage you if you are a mature gamer and thinking about buying a Xbox go watch some reviews on the Xbox Live communication system. I was a loyal customer spending $100s a year if not $1000 in a single year. I hope this review has helped you in making a decision to not buy an Xbox. I am trying to wrap my head around that one now and it's one in the morning, wtf. I should be in bed. I have a job. I have been in denial for years. I've been double and triple charged for downloads. I've been locked out of my own account. Had my gamer tag changed to ** for security reasons then charged to change it back. I just took it and kept playing and paying now my console I never physically touch decides its broken?! Seven days out of warranty and it's 150.00 to start service order.
I found these complaints and I realize it's not an isolated incident. I am just one of many being swindled by this company. It's not an accident at all. It’s carefully created fraud on a huge scale. Bill Gates pretending to be a philanthropist when his company is, has, and will continue committing fraud is quite ironic. Last month, Resident Evil 2 deluxe edition I pre-ordered was charged again a few days after my initial purchase. I had to open a dispute with PayPal cause Microsoft didn’t seems to understand the problem. It seems, that, since they created that refund policy this became quite a mess. What they see as a transaction is not real money transactions. Not like on PayPal and most of the time, dates differ. For that game, they finally refund me at the end of the dispute a few minutes before PayPal review the file, saying that they already credited me and PayPal said that the dispute was closed not in my favor, which I found hilarious. Anyway, I had my money back so I thought I could let them a chance and just try to forget it and turn the page. So I bought a new Xbox One X on their site and took my preorders back (DMC5 and MK11); I was so frustrated by that issue that I had cancel everything.
March 6. I’m charged for Devil May Cry 5 deluxe Ed. Good game which I completed in almost 5 days minus 2 hard achievements. March 12, while I was still playing and trying hell and hell, my mobile beep with an email receipt saying thanks for DMC5 deluxe Ed... I couldn’t believe my eyes. At that instant, I ran on my computer trying to cancel this without understanding of what just happened. Nothing work on Microsoft end. When I was finally able to ask for a refund, it was declined a few days later, saying that I ask for refund too much recently which is false but the probably also took my preorders cancellations for transactions when it was not.
Yesterday, it has been 10 days since I opened that last PayPal dispute that was declined because they said I already had a credit for that. After talking with PayPal on the phone for an hour, they finally realized it was not true and they just changed something in the case and send it again saying that I will be refund if they don’t answer after 10 days. So after being on stress about a fraud for 10 days, I need to wait another 10 days for nothing. This morning, I talking with Microsoft on the phone offering to send screenshots of my 2 charges for the same digitals game but they didn’t want to.
For 10 years now, this kind of things has never happened. For 10 years now, I was a great Xbox costumers, buying often, more digital then any others ways because I always check deals and it’s often less expensive that what I see in store and I like to switch games easy without a disk that can break with time. Now, because of some glitches in their system and also the fact that they are so stubborn, they will probably lose a good customer, a good gamer that just bought a new console because he wanted to continue with them. This is a sad day...

It started with me not being able to sign in, but now every time I turn on my Xbox, it won’t let me sign in and if I do manage to sign in, it’ll say that I’m not connected to Xbox Live even though I have an Ethernet cable plugged in so I have WiFi at all times. It won’t let me play any game or do anything at all on my Xbox until I hard reset it 2-3 times, only then it’ll start working. This has been happening for a matter of days now and it’s to the point where part of me doesn’t even want to play Xbox anymore.

Unbelievable that in spite of spending hundreds of dollars on Xbox products, hackers can easily steal all your money and Xbox does nothing to help recover your account. After 9 hours on the phone I still can't access the account my kids made years ago even though it is my credit card and email attached to the account and I have the physical gift cards used to make purchases. I can't believe they have no support or way to take back a stolen account. Shame on them.

The charges $24.99, $24.99, 9.99, 9.99 automatically go through on your credit card. All of Microsoft should be ashamed and embarrassed about this type of fraud taking place. I know I am not alone! I purchased an Xbox One for my 9-year-old last week as a gift. We opened it and set it up last night, and had a digital download game as well as a game on a disc (brand new disc). We started downloading the digital game first - after 3 hours, it was only around 11% completed. Do the math here. Also, you think you can just pop a disc in and get playing, right? Wrong. All games MUST be downloaded first which takes a pretty long time, AND to make matters worse, if there has been an update, that has to load, too, before you can play the game. So for the game on the disc? Between downloading and updating, we are at 25% through the update after 6 (SIX) hours.
Then, I am looking at these game sizes and thinking we are not going to have a huge library of games considering their size. Sure enough, if you look at other complaints, this is a known issue that requires the purchase of an external hard drive to accommodate the needed space. Finally, after having an Xbox 360 for years now, we have accumulated a pretty large game library - however, only some are playable on the new console. Do I regret buying the Xbox One? Absolutely. Wouldn't do it again on a bet. We have had it attached for 24 hours so far and have yet to be able to use it.

When he tried to download a few games we purchased on the 360 game app store they did not show up as purchased / download again. So I called Xbox customer support and after speaking to a rep that barely spoke English I just learned I have to purchase most of those games again for him to play them on the new system. Really? My account was suspended because I called someone a name for their behavior during an online match on Destiny 2. First of all, the game is rated Teen, which means that everyone playing should be old enough to experience things associated with that ESRB rating. Second of all, it clearly states that online interactions are not rated by the ESRB, which means that you may come across real live people that behave as such.
If you are such a sensitive and sheltered person that you cannot even handle another person speaking profanity or in any way that offends you, you should never leave your house or interact with another human being for the entirety of your pathetic life. The only reason I even called the person a name to begin with was because that person was hindering my ability to complete the task I had set out to do in the game, knowing full and well what they were doing. I reacted within my rights as an American and exercised my Freedom of Speech, only to have this person file a complaint about it. Instead of reviewing what had happened and understanding that this other person had instigated the entire situation, they instead punished ME for my reasonably upset reaction to this person's behavior.
If Xbox is so intent on protecting these weak-minded, feeble, sheltered individuals from the words of mankind like some sort of illegitimate overprotective parent, they should stop taking away the rights of people like myself and instead make it an option for these scared infantiles to NOT EVEN RECEIVE messages from anyone. Make it an option to automatically censor profane language so that they never even see it, if that's what they so choose, but NEVER violate a person's rights by punishing a behavior that is supposedly "Protected" by the U.S. Constitution. I shouldn't be punished when I have done nothing wrong and Microsoft should NOT be allowed to make these types of policies that blatantly infringe upon my rights. I paid good money to use this service and it has been taken away because Microsoft wants to illegally make it's own rights and freedoms. A Class Action Lawsuit is in order...

I NEVER write reviews and actually despise the reviews that state that but I verbally told Microsoft I would do this and post on social media, so here I am. This experience was absolutely DISGUSTING! I ordered an Xbox 1x bundle on Cyber Monday. Microsoft was cheaper through every site I could find by $10. NOT WORTH IT! THEY CHARGED MY CARD 8x totaling over $5,000!! My bank shut my card off, I had to reverse all these charges through Microsoft and then also play phone tag with my bank ALL WHILE AT WORK!
Finally, I was able to make the stupid purchase later that evening. Why continue you might ask? WELL, they were able somehow to charge my card $10.94 and I needed that charge given back to me. In order to "compensate" they "waived" 2 day shipping. Here we are, three days later and I still have nothing I ordered. ALONG WITH THAT - they CHARGED MY CARD TWICE AFTER THIS WAS "RESOLVED" so here I sit waiting on hold for the last 21 minutes as I am writing this review. I got transferred twice and as I just explained my entire situation and asked for my money to be refunded to my card, Microsoft had hung up and yet to call back. So now I have to call back AGAIN and repeat myself for the 20th time.
This place is NOT WORTH YOUR TIME for the $10 cheaper bundle they might have offered. ANYWHERE in person or online that sells these products I have purchased through previously, is WAY BETTER to deal with and won't get your card shut off due to incompetent staff over charging 10x in three days. Are you aware that XBOX support is requesting access to peoples personal bank accounts? When XBOX asks me to talk to my bank so they can use my debit card, I was astounded. WHY WOULD I ALLOW YOU TO ACCESS MY PERSONAL BANK ACCOUNT! You see, American Express had notified me about some questionable activity on my account (Fraudulent activity from another source). When I went to replace the credit card in my daughter's account, I was unable as SHE WAS WRONGFULLY SUSPENDED BY XBOX.
Like any parent, I have a choice of what payment I provide for my child's usage. We had 3 forms of payment already in her account; 1) American Express 2) Xbox gift cards in the amount of $200.00 3) Visa card. When AMEX canceled my card FOR MY SAFETY, there were no more than $75.00 from Xbox charges that may also have been canceled.
And although there were two other methods of payment in my 12 year old daughter's account, including a $200.00 Xbox gift card from Christmas, Microsoft/XBOX decided to become a BULLY and suspend her account, without her understanding & WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME, The cardholder. Now you want ME to TALK TO MY BANK about using my credit card! Yeah OK. Keep desensitizing our children with Grand Theft Auto, and making them killers and thieves. But then you want to go ahead and accuse a child & a parent of marketplace theft when in fact I am protecting my credit & identity. And apparently, once XBOX suspends you there is no discussion until the year 9999.
Bill, Melinda, I thought with all your philanthropy, you created something better than the customer appreciation & communication Xbox is putting out. So just keep making your customer support team self righteous & keep making little criminals out of America's children with these one way games & tactics that offer no parental guidance OR COMMUNICATION. It's just VERY WRONG. You might want to look into how you are being represented to these days.

First off Microsoft/Xbox Live says if you purchase a game via download you did not purchase it, they consider it a loan of the game as long as you stay connected to your gold subscription.
I don't understand how they claim that since you will pay the same for a game through their services as you would in a store for a physical copy, this is a little game they play just to extort people. I called numerous times before I finally canceled my gold service to try and resolve the issue of connection issues, they couldn't or wouldn't help me after having a gold sub for 10 years. This is the kind of help I was expected to receive. I have all the consoles and by far the Xbox is the best. I started with a special edition launch day Xbox then upgraded to the slim model and finally the Xbox One X. Both older consoles saw incredibly heavy use as my daughter loves gaming as much as I do. We also use it as our entertainment device. We stream from every service and the newer models are capable of 4k HDR. The Xbox One X is the most powerful console which is nice although it's still not as good as my PC but it's better than the PS4 pro which is so loud... It's louder than my gaming PC that has 6 fans and a GTX 1080. There are a ton of games to play and the store is simple to use. There is also a movie/tv and music store that is great as well. The Xbox One is easily one of the most reliable consoles on the market. I've had 3 PS4s that died for no reason and they got minimal use but I've yet to have an Xbox let me down regardless of model.
Xbox Live is also fantastic. Download speeds are great, I usually get about 50MB/s on average compared to the 7MB/s I get on PlayStation and roughly 30MB/s from steam. They also have EA Access that lets you get 10% off any EA content as well as tons of free games in the vault, sometimes games as little as a few months old. There is also Game Pass. For $10 a month you get access to a huge library of full games to play. There is a mix of Xbox One and Xbox 360 games. Yes the Xbox One is backwards compatible with the 360 and even the original Xbox although not every title is supported. They add more all the time. If you are out to buy a console get the Xbox One X. It's a great primary console and it's also a great 2nd console if you own a PC or Switch... Or even the PS4.

I wanted to just insert the disk and play with my kids but no, every game has to download, then update, then you are required to log in, so if you don’t have a Microsoft account or remember the password, etc. you have to set that up again. We are talking about 2 hrs for the game to download (even if you have a disk) then another hour to update. Then you have to figure out the password, login, email, just to play the game. On October 29th found out that my eight year old son had access to my credit card on his Xbox One Live account after I had requested it to be removed in August after being charged for several games that he purchased without my permission. Lo and behold $910.66 later I still do not have a refund. Was told by Xbox because I had asked for a refund back in August that I would need to contact my financial institution to dispute the charges due to the fact of a minor using my credit card without my permission. My bank filed a dispute. I got a provisional credit and December 21st watch $910.66 being taken out of my account for the fact that Xbox stated that I authorized the transactions because my eight year old actually attempted to play a couple of the games that he purchased.
You can never get an actual American on the phone that understands the English language. You always talk to somebody in a foreign country. Here I am 2 days before Christmas. No money. No Christmas presents and 4 weeks ago purchased $860 worth of Xbox Scorpio Edition waiting to come on a rain check from Best Buy because it being on backorder. Xbox a thieves thieves thieves. There is no recourse nor is there any assistance for parents who have children that use their products. That's how Xbox makes most of their money. Going to keep this short and sinister. Xbox needs to change their customer service process. If you ask for a supervisor (you know since I have been through three Xbox consoles in the last 6 months) you have to wait for a callback, which is just unacceptable in so many ways. You literally have to sit and stare at your phone waiting for them to call you. And if you miss the call, they email you wanting to know an exact time, day, and timezone, for a callback. Then you respond to the email, giving them a time window, and they still don't call you back. And it just becomes a cycle of stupidity. Have a real escalation process or suffer Comcast's fate of having your customer service rating tank so bad you end up in the news.
Also, you might want to have your service repair center actually tell you what "service" they performed on your system. I signed up for text updates to my service request and actually received no updates on the service request other than "we received your Xbox" and then "we shipped your Xbox." Then I received another refurb with a different serial number. The third one in 6 months since the first one when it arrived did not work. The gentleman at the Microsoft Store was very helpful in making sure the replacement actually worked before giving it to me. Might want to see if your technicians are bench testing these before shipping.

The first customer service agent was rude, and was not listening. I then asked for a supervisor and again they were rude and even cussed at me and hung up on me. The supervisor I did get in touch with later is well aware of it and said they would take care of it. The issue I had in the first place was I canceled my subscription (Xbox Live Gold) 2 years ago because I was moving and was not sure how long it would be before I could hook my console up and play it again. It sat in my living room for 2 years collecting dust in its box. I got an email yesterday letting me know my subscription was up for renewal and would be renewed on January first. I called them to resolve this and was told I would be getting a refund for $63.95 from the previous year. The supervisor also gave me a 12 month Xbox live gold membership free of charge as a apology and I needed to contact PayPal to receive the refund.
I contacted Paypal the next day and gave them the reference number for the refund to happen, and was told I needed to contact Xbox again and get a transaction Number since the bank I had the PayPal through I had closed the account with. Upon contacting Xbox again after PayPal I dealt with 3 rude people before speaking to a supervisor. I was on hold with the supervisor who took my number down in case we were disconnected. I was on hold for a good 10-20 minutes when some lower level person answered the phone and I was talking to them about the issue to find they were not a supervisor and advised them it was higher level than them to pull up my account notes and get me back in touch with the supervisor who placed me on hold. They refused then hung up on me, the next two people also hung up on me...
Then finally got in touch with another person who said they would transfer me to a supervisor who again hung up on me. I had to contact live chat and still was not resolved... I was told pretty much that the subscription I was given was because they could not refund me beyond 90 days. Microsoft screwed up not me, I canceled the subscription before I moved. Now I will write their legal department because I was told I was getting a refund and also to get in touch with PayPal for it, also I was being given the subscription free of charge as an apology for being hung up on and being told to go ** myself by the customer service agent I originally dealt with before any supervisors the other day.
Personally if a supervisor tells a customer they are doing something then that company in this case Microsoft should honor that agreement. Also with the customer experience I have had I would rather turn in my games, Console, and Controllers and get a full refund for the equipment as if they were brand new and never touch them again. If my experience was this bad I am betting others have been as well and I am surprised they are still in business with customer service representatives who give customers a bad taste with them.

I recently signed my 8 yr old child up for an Xbox Live Gold subscription, not realizing that he would be able to also purchase games without permission. When he purchased Grand Theft Auto, I called and had my account refunded and spoke with the customer service rep about setting my account so that these purchases couldn't be made without specific permission. I was pleased with the outcome. Time came for a subscription renewal. I paid $.99 cents for a promotional Live membership, unaware that the account would again be connected to my bank account, where my 8 year old could easily make purchases again.
Last night, I received an email notification that another game had been purchased using my bank account by my 9 year old (who does not understand that these games are not free). I called Xbox live support immediately and requested the issue be resolved. I was informed that they only issue one refund per year, and they refused to allow me to return this game. This is theft. I don't know of any store I can walk into, make a purchase and then not have buyer's remorse and return the item within an hour of purchasing it. I am outraged at their unwillingness to resolve this issue in a respectful manner. $21 dollars isn't much to a mega corporation, but it can make or break a single mother. For all Xbox One users: beware of any and all updates that come from Xbox. I have had my Xbox for a few years now so of course the warranty has expired as have most. I have never had any issues with my Xbox up until the 15th of September. I received an update notification from Xbox as per usual. After the update finished my system reset as it usual does. However upon restarting the system error screen came up stating that there was a startup error. After trying every possible way to fix the issues with the help of Xbox, nothing worked. Xbox then informed me that even though I never had a problem with my system and the error derived after receiving this update that I would still be responsible for paying for it to be fixed. This is by far the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of and its a scam.
After reaching out to the BBB this is the result I was given: "Thank you for contacting Microsoft Corporation via the Better Business Bureau regarding your Xbox One issue. After reviewing your complaint and service request (**), our manager is correct in stating that your Xbox One is no longer in warranty and you will need to pay an out of warranty fee if you wish to have it sent in for repair."
In no way happens or form should a loyal customer to Xbox should have to pay for a repair on a device they didn't cause the issue to occur on. I can understand wear and tear that would be the customer responsibility to have to pay to repair. But this is a clear result of Xbox update causing the problem within my system. For those who encounter the same issue you have other options than giving more money to Xbox for something that is not your fault. Go to a game repair store to have it fixed. Trade it in GameStop will take it damaged. Trade it online on sites such as eBay or let go. Trade it in for store credit and buy a PlayStation (recommended from a loyal Xbox customer).

So I got a ban which would last 2 days. The reason for my ban was the improper use of communication. That boils down to basically trash talking to someone. Just a side note: every form of competition, whether it be sports or games, will always have trash talk. Banning people does absolutely nothing to prevent this kind of communication. I called customer support in an attempt to understand what I said exactly for Xbox to want to ban me. I'm not a toxic player and I don't just trash talk, I rarely even use the public voice chat in game because of other toxic players.
To make a long conversation short, the customer service agent told me that: 1) These cases are hardly ever wrong, so I was practically deemed guilty from the start. 2) There was absolutely no way to find out what I said or to whom I said it to, which for the record I had no interest in finding out the name of anyone, I was almost sure of who it was already. 3) Even if my ban was reviewed by the Enforcement Team, it would have taken them too long to review it before the ban was automatically lifted due to its expiration date being reached, which in turn automatically deletes my review case as well.
So basically they provide no way of defending myself in the event that Xbox unfairly banned me because they refuse to disclose any details. If you're lucky enough to get your case reviewed by the Enforcement Team, there's a good chance that your case review will be pointless if it's a short ban like mine, since they automatically delete any case review files if the ban has been lifted already. I mean, why would they care at that point.
Now there are some people that may think a 2 day ban is nothing and that it's not a big deal, but I've been an Xbox Live customer for over a decade, had to deal with their issues of Red Rings of Death, the awful support to take care of that problem at the time, and now I'm being banned because for something they refuse to explain. But yet they say they won't ban whoever trashed talked me because I didn't report them, and they don't want to seem like a "police state" by going through the context of the conversation that took place. They think they are not a police state, even though they withhold as much information as they can. Xbox customer support just lost a customer of over a decade because of this ridiculous ban. The only thing I recall saying to anyone is calling someone a "scrub" for TEAM KILLING ME.

Reviewing to let people know that the service dept for Xbox live support is lacking. If the sign in option for accounts shuts down then you are forced to call by phone to contact them. They tell you that you can live chat, text, and contact other ways. However when trying to do so they want you to sign into your account to verify it's you. Hence the problem. If you can't sign into account then you are forced to wait over 90 minutes in cases of major problems just to contact by phone to get answers. Consoles will say limited services down, but without being able to sign in even play on disc games is impossible without signing into accounts.
Recommendations for Microsoft reps who view this. Allow better communication for support when account services are down to lessen phone congestion. Allow for account sign in on consoles even if online disabled to allow for disc games to play. More accurate update as to estimated time of repair on services down to stop or slow incoming calls for when services returning. When customer contacts support offer something like 10% off next purchase on Xbox live product with promo code for problems lasting longer than 1hr that would be emailed to email account on file once support verifies email with customer. This is way of tracking abuse and letting know customers that company empathizes with them.

Just bought a Xbox Gift card (at Best Buy) after being told that I could use this to pay for Xbox Live Gold 1 month subscription. Well as it turns out MS has quite the "racket" setup that prevents you from using the Gift Cards for paying for the Gold subscriptions, and instead forces users to buy a dedicated Xbox Live Gold subscription card that can only be used for that service and nothing else. So if you only wanted to have Xbox Live Gold every other month instead of 3 months straight and not give your personal credit car info you are just out of luck. Now I realize why I've always hated MS!!! They just can't get enough $$$.

Microsoft are seriously nothing but money grabbers. No loyalty to their customers whatsoever. After being a customer for 7 odd years, I don't know why I didn't leave them a long time ago. Stay away. I was perma banned for reason that were completely unjust. I opened a case review as this can happen from time to time due to people reporting you for the lols. This fact in its self is totally bogus. Anyhow, I expected that they would take a look at my case and find that I was banned in error. This did not happen. Instead the ban was upheld and I lost everything, including a fair sized digital game library. The reply they gave me had nothing to do with what I was supposed to be banned for. They didn't even look at my case.
To make matters worse. The only way you can communicate with the enforcement team is by opening a case review. You get 500 words to state your case and once you have done so, you can no longer communicate with them, leaving you totally defenseless. It's a real shame because I did enjoy my time with Xbox and might have continued with their services with the next gen console. However I'm kind of glad this happened. It's given me the kick in the behind I needed to stop with using their services with their corrupt policies.
So to sum up. Microsoft DO ban people for no reason, sometimes by accident and sometimes on purpose. Either way, the chance of getting what you paid for back, are slim to none. The reason seems to be that if they uphold your ban, you might pay again for what you have already paid for. And if you don't then on the grand scale of things, they're not really losing much money. Microsoft Xbox are corrupt. Believe it or not. There was a time I would have recommended them to anyone looking for a good gaming experience. But now I strongly warn against their products and services. This has happened on more than one occasion.

I have been with Xbox from the start, from when the real Xbox One came out I have over 305 games for the 360 & 102 games for the Xbox One but I think I will burn or sell them after I lost over 2, 455 hours of gameplay saves for my games on the Xbox One. After 4.5 hours on the phone with Microsoft trying to see why I can't get my saves back, I now have to start from day 1 for every one of my games again but I am not going to play all my games over again. To trust that Xbox will save my saves for me what a joke they should've just kept it like the 360 put a jump drive in and you know that they are on it and not in the hack cloud.
I have over $14.000 worth of stuff for Xbox gaming for the 360 and the 1 console alone. They really screwed themselves to lose me and all my friends and family that were going to get one until this happened to me and I recorded the call, all 4.5 hours worth. I don't know what fantasy land the dumbasses at the top who run the company think that you never lose internet and that everyone has internet and to think you should have to go online just to play a game by yourself sitting on your couch is just showing that they are on drugs. I cannot believe I trusted them to save my saves for me. I am not playing over 2,455 hours to get back to where I was in all my games. Not going to happen!!! Your big loss Microsoft. All there needs to be more people who get screwed over like me and it will be no time your company dies. The countdown has already begun and you're losing more gamers every day, tick tock... Consumers should be aware of the danger Microsoft is putting them in. Xbox puts NON-RECHARGEABLE batteries in the controllers. These controllers are meant to be recharged so why would Xbox put non-rechargeable batteries in them? Contacting customer support (lol if you call it that), to find that there is no support at all. A waste of time to contact Xbox for anything.
The batteries (Duracell) clearly states on the label that the batteries may leak or explode if CHARGED, or placed in a fire! No warnings on the carton, booklet about the batteries that come with the system. Does Microsoft (Xbox) care? Not at all, nothing they can do they say. Reported this to the safer products agency of the U.S. Government to hopefully put an end to this hazard and jeopardizing people's safety for a buck. Buy a system with real customer support if you can find one, not a do it yourself customer service.

I just bought my 12 year old son an Xbox One console for his birthday thinking that this console accepts Xbox 360 games (which is clearly advertised on the box) but it doesn't!!! I found out later that they only accept a very limited amount of 360 games. It should of been clearly advertise because in thinking that this was possible I bought for $200.00 worth of 360 games that finally my son can't use. It's his first Xbox console and the last. Microsoft should be ashamed of their behaviour.

My xbox 1 controller burned itself one day and I called to see if I could get a replacement. What a big mistake that was, I wasted my time talking to people who couldn't understand simple English. Then I was passed to a special department that had a robot to sort through people but it also could not understand a thing. I eventually gave up trying to contact them through phone and got on their website.
When I started a chat with a person from support I was surprised to have to repeat what I had typed multiple times. They asked for my address, phone number, and email before even mentioning they needed the serial number. By that time I had waited for them to process everything, at least 5 minutes each, they said that I had no warranty. I have had my console and controller less than a year and this is the garbage I have had to deal with. I'm very tired of dealing with Microsoft's problems and I honestly think they'll kill my passion of gaming before the end of the year.

So we run an Ethernet cable to it for it to work. Problem solved? Nope! It completely stopped registering any type of Internet connection.
So we called and customer service who was a nice guy who seemed to want to help. BUT we talked to the customer service MANAGER who wouldn't help us at all. But after viewing a lot of the negative comments, I am definitely not buying any Xbox product. Second, if PlayStation is smart they will capitalize on this and makes their console/customer service better. And make the PS vita more compatible. I do not understand how any corporation with this poor of customer service could still continue to rip off people and be indignant to their consumers. Xbox will not be getting any of my money or time until this improves. This is an instant where you do not get what you pay for. If I am going to fork out 100's of hard earned dollars on a product, it better be worth it. Again, Xbox, or any other console corporate morons. WHAT ARE WE PAYING FOR???

I have filed a complaint with the BBB and also a Arbitration. I have been in constant contact with an Attorney. Xbox still has not unbanned my account, as I was told I would have it back by Friday 06/10/2016, and still I do not have my account. I have spent a lot of time on the games that I have on my profile. I have put a lot of hard earned money into the games I play and Xbox just took all that away from me and is keeping my Profile.
They say their decision is upheld. This is unfair as they have all the proof they need to see that it was not me that committed the actions on my account that lead up to the enforcement action. What I am going through is unfair and gamers just like myself need to know what has happened to me as it is not right for Xbox just to take something away from the gamer and not investigate it further.

That took a few tries, but since we were all excited that wasn't much of an issue. We started with the sports games like beach volleyball, bowling, baseball, etc. There were also dancing games and all of these were a lot of fun. There were times though when the Xbox had difficulty detecting multiple players. That killed a bit of our excitement. Nonetheless, the Xbox is great to have and share especially when family and friends come over.

DO NOT BUY XBOX!!! THEY ARE THE WORST COMPANY EVER!!! We bought an Xbox One for our family for Christmas. We loved playing it for about a month and a half until it broke. So we called up support and they had us send it in for repairs. About one month later we got it back. Surprise it was still broken. So we sent it back in for repairs. About 3 weeks later (beginning of April) we got an Xbox One back with a letter saying that we tampered with it and that it is no longer under warranty.
I called Xbox support, furious. They said it was weird that we got that letter and said they would open up an investigation. I called a week later because I had not heard back. They said that they don't even see an investigation was opened. I called over and over trying to get this figured out. Two weeks ago I called and some guy named Mike told me that it was figured out and he was going to send me an Xbox. We never received one. So I called back again yesterday. After being on the phone for about 3 hrs, they tell me that it is FedEx's fault and I need to make a claim against them. So basically Xbox is telling me that I am screwed. Because I can't prove that FedEx tampered with it, so they aren't going to do anything. I am so frustrated!!! Beyond frustrated. Don't support Xbox, they are a horrible company. DO NOT BUY XBOX ONE! This console REQUIRES internet to play. When you buy this console there is no bold print stating that this console needs internet to startup. First thing you have to do when you take this console out the box and plug it in is download the initial install, otherwise this console is useless to you. You can't play games. You can play DVDs, or audio CDs. I feel like I have been tricked into buying this console by Microsoft. I recently bought a new game called DOOM, and when you insert the disk it tells you a update is required in order to play this game. There is no way around it. So I spent money to stay at a hotel so I can download this update which was around 3.4 GB. After the install I played the game, turned it off, went home. The game does not work offline to play a single player campaign. You have to have the console online to play this game at all. It will not boot. It just restarts the console to the home screen.
I've also had this problem with other games. I one time updated a controller, then could no longer play two player games because the other remote needed an update. Called customer support and they hung up on me because they could not help me and I had no other questions. So the CSA hung up on me. I'm spending wayyy more money than I should have to. I bought the console. I bought the game. So therefore I have the licensing and should have the right to play this game as I please. Internet is just not possible where I live. I'm surrounded by trees. And it's just too expensive. You will not enjoy this console unless you have lots of money and time. This console will not play the following unless you have internet: Blu-ray DVDs, regular DVDs, audio CDs, game disc, media from a USB device videos or pictures.
Everyone is getting rid of Xbox one for these reasons and getting a PS4. I suggest you do the same. It's sad I will never experience future Halo games. But I'm just not rich and refuse to put another dollar towards this money pit. Hopefully Halo and other exclusive games will see the scam going on and will refuse to be Xbox One exclusive anymore so we can enjoy their hard work on any console of our choice. Xbox one has officially lost the console war in my opinion. Definitely lost me after speaking with their rude customer service agents. Btw, I was a diehard Xbox fan. They just screwed us all. Buy a single player game. You expect to be able to play it, no strings attached. No fine print saying internet required. I'm looking at the game now. I don't see the fine print. Think I need a lawyer.

For six months I've been dealing with my twelve-year-old son's Xbox Live Gold account being unable to purchase the Games with Gold games of the month through the Xbox website. I've spent over twenty hours on the phone and in chat with Xbox customer support. They were never able to figure out why my son couldn't make purchases, so they repeatedly issued tokens for 1 month of Xbox Live Gold for myself so I could make the purchases on his behalf, but I always had to come back a month later and walk through the whole long, stupid troubleshooting process with a completely new person before they figured out it wasn't anything they could fix so they'd issue me a token.
Finally, I came across a tech support rep who said he knew what the problem was and it was just a policy that they couldn't change and that he was sorry that no one ever knew that was the case and that it wasn't public knowledge. He said I should talk to a supervisor to get some sort of recompense for the fact that we were not getting what we paid for and that I had spent six months being misled by customer support.
So I called and spoke to a supervisor, who said that the previous guy was wrong and that indeed, they still couldn't figure out what was wrong with my son's account and that it was probably broken, so we should create a new account (without all the stuff my son has unlocked and purchased in the last five years) and that they couldn't issue a credit to my account to make the purchases (like they had for the last six months) without taking away his Gold account (that he paid for).
They couldn't give a $30 credit to solve the problem, but they could ask him to give up five years of data? Nice. I'm flabbergasted. It literally would have cost them pennies to have made this right, but they chose to be jerks about it. I've never been so disgusted with a customer support system, and I have to deal with Comcast on a regular basis. I pointed out the ridiculousness of their proposal and how it was completely unfair to ask that of him, but she stubbornly refused to offer any token of regret, and then doubled down and proceeded to suggest that somehow we might have been responsible for the fact that my son's Live account didn't work correctly on their website. All we did was type his login stuff into their fields and click their buttons on their devices and websites.
Congrats Microsoft - you're too big to have to care about your customers anymore. I run a small tech company, and if this is how you treat your customers, I can honestly say I will do all I can to avoid working with you guys and your products in the future. I will also recommend to my friends and customers that they look elsewhere for their tech needs.
I've been an Xbox guy since the beginning, and we were in the market for an Xbox One, but I'm honestly looking at Playstation now. I just can't overstate how disappointed I am. I get it - my disappointment won't keep you from going to sleep on your mattress stuffed with money, but this level of disdain for your customers will come back to bite you. You can't allow this sort of culture of greed and dismissiveness to exist without it becoming a cancer that eats away at you from the inside. So here's to hoping your stock crashes. Cheers, A former Xbox fan.

So over the last year Microsoft xbox live has cost me close to 500 dollars for a service I no longer used. It gets better. One day the payments finally stopped. You see I was calling and canceling this same subscription on a monthly basis. One day they finally stopped. A couple of months later Microsoft xbox live was at it again. Needless to say we were charged for a year of Xbox Live services that he never used or knew he had. So, finally I figured out the email he used and cancelled the service but hmm, they still charged me even after for months until I caught it again. They double charged me one month for some reason.
When I contacted them they REFUSED a refund for ANY of those charges. I now understand why they are such a rich company, they literally rob people. Steal people's hard earned money and say "too bad we got you." It was difficult for me an adult to figure out how to find the place to cancel this monthly charge that I NEVER agreed to pay. My son had a gift card, we never agreed to pay them monthly. Also no refunding when you can clearly see no activity for months, and also a double charge? They should be out of business for the level of corruption this company is known for. I will never purchase from this company again, and I am appalled at how much they STOLE from me. 7 years ago I bought my first Xbox. I started up a gamertag and then not long after started up a second. The second ended up being long forgotten and I spent the last 7 years playing my main gamertag. Over time the email associated with the second gamertag became my email for absolutely everything in my life except my Xbox gaming account. All I want to do is move it to my main email address and consolidate my accounts so I no longer have such drama with multiples. It appears Microsoft has made this impossible. All I wanted to do was come down to ONE gamertag and after HOURS of messing around I have managed to wind up with THREE! Now I have to wait THIRTY days to attempt to remedy anything any further.
How is Microsoft so incredibly incompetent? I have subscriptions with Microsoft on both emails and all I want to do is make it all into one. Sounds simple enough right? WRONG! Not only have I now had to go through the hassle of creating multiple emails JUST to fix this (which is hours of "this user is already taken") but a 30-day wait to do something is absurd! Not to mention they say they can't even do it. I then tried to consolidate on a new email and make an alias. I created a new fresh email and tried to link it by selecting "add existing email" but it came up in red writing "this email already exists, please choose something else." YOU DON'T SAY!!! I JUST created it for this exact purposes. You don't think selecting "add existing" hadn't already said that. Poor setup Microsoft. Actually, beyond poor. It's absolutely RIDICULOUS!
So I am not left with but one option. Set my main account up with a NEW gamertag and absolutely start from scratch. Erasing SEVEN YEARS worth of achievements. If you are going to make it so everything in Microsoft is linked, then you should at least allow people to link their correct accounts! Good job Microsoft. A multi-billion dollar company and you can't even link correct accounts! Never thought I would contemplate getting rid of everything Microsoft before. I've always preferred it but after this ridiculous runaround, I'm tempted to get rid of it all.

I mistakenly went back to Xbox after a falling out with Sony over the PSN. The process is grueling to recover an account, it took 4 hours with the supervisor and finally I had access and all of my information was updated. Three days later I am locked out again! I am still on the phone with them as I type this, I know there is not going to be a solution. Basically they are saying that there was a "Glitch" and the system went into a security protocol and I will be unable to access my account for 30 days. Which means... No DLC, Games, or other services associated with the outlook.com account.
The first call I put in was escalated to a supervisor, we troubleshot for an hour, argued a bit, then he agreed to give me a 12 month Gold subscription for my troubles and I could make a new account and after 30 days link the old one... Until the phone disconnected and all was lost. I called back, got disconnected, I called back a third time. Guess what? Yep disconnected. Imagine that. Now I am on the phone with a nice lady who really does care and thinks that this is "absurd". She is talking with her "team" and the "team" is calling me a liar and saying that they will not honor the initial solution because there are no supporting notes. The so-called security settings are a freaking joke. The verification process is way over the top. I am very disappointed with this purchase, the supervisor response, and the overall experience with Microsoft.
The inept and unhelpful people I have had the pleasure of working with are the reason for my negative review. I have had bad experiences in the past with various companies, but this one takes the cake. I am genuinely shocked at the lack of problem solving skills these supervisors have. I have been advised that I should contact the Microsoft legal department (Refusal to disclose name and ID **). Essentially this is a clear case of "Passing the Buck" due to an inability to problem solve at the lowest level of customer care.
I want to go on the record saying that while Sony has had some issues with the PSN, however I have never, ever had a issues that was this convoluted. I have asked to be transferred to a supervisor. I have been informed by the customer service agent that the supervisors are no longer responding to her, and she does not know why. The cases have been reviewed with me to include the notes on the account. There is a ton of missing information.

Yesterday, after attempting to log into Xbox Live after a while of not playing, it tells me someone may be using my account. It then directs me to the Microsoft website to change my password. Throughout all of this, I find my cell phone "proof" isn't being recognized when attempting to recover, but still can send the recovery text message to the same phone number? WTF? I then do this process 3 times, back and fourth back and fourth. I got so fed up with trying to google it and figure it out myself that I decided to give the 800-4MYXBOX a call. The ladies accent is thick enough that I continuously have to ask her to repeat what she says to me while I try and figure out what exact she's guiding me to do.
I ended up clearing the cache, reconnecting to my wireless network, unplugging and restarting my xbox, and ALSO deleting my profile only. When I come to re-download my profile to my xbox, it now says the credentials are invalid. Not only is my Microsoft account not recognizing me, but my xbox isn't downloading my profile now.
The lady ends up transferring me over to a guy with an even THICKER accent that is just about impossible to understand. He then runs me through the exact same processes the lady had done, which did not help the first time. He asks me many informational questions regarding my account and then begins to tell me that my credit card was being charged every month for xbox live because Auto Renew was enabled and one month I transferred banks, it continued to charge my old account that had no money in it. Because of the fact it had no money in it, it put my account on suspension.
Couldn't he have figure this out in the first couple of minutes? Or even the first lady I had spoken to? Disregarding ending my sentences with prepositions, I get more and more frustrated with the fact that this guy sounds so clueless as to what the actual issue is, and how to fix it. He prompts me to go to the Microsoft website, AGAIN, and change my password another 3 times, back and fourth, back and fourth. By the end of this experience I am so frustrated I about give up and sit back on my couch and listen to him mumble.
This morning, I called once again, because maybe giving my xbox a day to rest would make it better, right? Wrong. I told the new lady that answered everything I had done to try and fix this issue and she almost didn't know what to say, she prompted me to once again change my password on my Microsoft account. I told her I was not going to change my password again, as I had done it 5 times already. She then tells me "well I'm sorry we can't exactly help you right now, as our network is down and we can't look up your account. We will get back to you hopefully by TUESDAY." I will have my xbox 360 up on craigslist by then. Thanks for the horrible customer service and ** Microsoft experience. Hope this helps someone make up their mind about getting a Microsoft product.

A very dissatisfied customer of Xbox 360 Black Ops III. The game takes forever to set you up in a lobby and when it does the game start by kicking me out after a few seconds. Lost connection, server problems (of all kinds), it freezes or freezes a lot, among dozens of system connection and server excuses. For players that worry too much about their ratio, it will be a disaster. I do understand that technology keeps moving forward and a new system (XBOX I) is their prior concern, but if that is the case, the Xbox industry should not be selling the new games for Xbox 360 if they are not going to be responsible with their customers. They are taking advantage of the humble people that can't afford the new system by taking their money and yet ignore the customers when asking for what they pay for.
The BLACK OPS III range from $50.00 to $60.00 depends on the console. If it is the XBOX 360, the game does not include campaign mode, can't save clips, customize character, create emblems or even the classic nuke town map. The XBOX industry as well as ACTIVISION (creators of Black Ops), should be held responsible for this rip off game and to take full responsibilities on making it better for loyal customers of the XBOX 360 THAT FOR YEARS KEPT THEM MAKING TOP MONEY. I only wished I was able to afford the XBOX I, but I couldn't. In August 2015 my 11-year-old son found out that his Microsoft account had been hacked. We had emails from Microsoft advising us what happened but by the time we received the emails, the hacker had set up a two-step verification process so we could not retrieve any of my sons account and data. It took a month and a half of phone calls, chat messages, and more phone calls to get Microsoft straightened out. They intern referred us to Xbox support to try to get his Xbox account up and running again. Just as we thought we had resolved everything, it all fell by the wayside.
We followed both MS support and Xbox supports instructions. I went and bought him a one year membership for Xbox live only to find out that the card wasn't activated. We went to game stop to find out why the card wasn't working. They called Microsoft who reported that the card had been reported as stolen, even though I had the receipt and card in hand. It turns out that my son's console had been flagged it as being banned. I was advised by Microsoft support to get in contact with Xbox enforcement which is a joke because they have no phone number, no email address. You just have to pose your question via a forum. And a month later I still haven't gotten a response. In the meantime I have an 11-year-old little boy who was hacked, who is scared because he thinks his hacker can find him and no one seems to care or understand over at Microsoft. I have the hackers name, his phone number and his IP address yet they won't do anything.
All I want is my son to be able to go back on his Xbox 360 and play with his friends. He has a 360 and an Xbox one and I have spent countless and thousands of dollars on games that he can't play because his console was apparently banned because The hacker did something that my child is not responsible for. Does anyone know of any other way to contact Xbox enforcement? You would think that a large company trying to enforce policy would have people or a phone number you could reach out to. It's ridiculous that they don't.

So, long story short, a few friends and I were playing destiny, and we encountered cheater. So all 3 of us sent him hate mail and ended up getting 7 day suspensions. Our suspensions were suppose to be up on Oct. 4th. We still cannot chat. We have troubleshooted every single option we could find online, and every single thing that the support agent suggested. Now, apparently this is a growing issue with Xbox Live Policy Enforcement Team. They are negligent when it comes to actually fully removing the suspension on the accounts. My account has partial chat capabilities. I can send and receive messages fine, and I can join parties and hear everyone fine. The problem is that NO ONE can hear me. It's not a hardware issue, as we have tested it with a new account, and the mic and everything works fine.
We have been in contact with support over the past 16 days, I myself have contacted them every day to try and get this resolved, because you can't really play competitive games without being able to communicate with your teammates. The support agents are giving us the run around with generic answers like "My apologies for the delay in responding. I am monitoring closely and have asked for an update. None as of yet!" and "I apologize it is taking so long but they are working around the clock!" It’s really getting old. I just want to be able to play online for which I have paid for a year subscription to do so. After this whole fiasco I am honestly thinking about switching to playstation, and that's saying a lot since I have been an Xbox fan since the day of the original Xbox. Sorry, just had to rant to someone...

My stays with me for a little while during the summer. So my son used the Xbox in July. He used my paypal acct to pay for it. Somehow someway these people took 4 payments from me. Two 9.98 payments which were every other month, which I don't understand. What plan do you know takes money every other month? I felt like they did a charge every other month so I wouldn't notice it on my statement which I didn't. They took money from me without my permission. I noticed it when it went from one 9.98 payment to 19.98, that's when I noticed that on my statement it made me investigate it and cancel them on my paypal. The same month I canceled is the same month they took 19.98 from me. Paypal even told me that my acct with xbox wasn't being used but they kept charging me.
Once I noticed it I called them and asked them to reimburse me and they had the nerve to tell me they couldn't. So I complained and said "you get to steal my money and I get nothing in return." They tell me since it's after the time, I can't. I said that is unacceptable and I wanted to talk to a manager. Then the girl come back on the phone saying "I can only give you one complimentary month because you have no documentation" showing what they took from me. I kept getting emails from this one lady Wilma which is no help. I sent my receipts of what they took from me and all she can say is there is nothing they can do. I don't see how she keeps her job. She not even trying to help the situation. I replied to her in the email they gave me. Only one month reimbursement because they didn't have the proof that they took my money. She has no clue and is no help.
If you talk or get an email from her you might as well call and talk to someone else. I told her 1 complimentary month does not make up for what they took from me. I will also be filing a complaint with the BBB. Do not put your credit card on their site. It's best to buy off amazon. Firstly, let me just say, the rep was RUDE RUDE RUDE. The first rep was fine and gave me a guarantee that we would get a refund because we were wrongly billed. Back in May, my son was billed then let his subscription run out. They attempted to charge him and would not allow him to remove his debit card from his Xbox account until he was charged, even after his card was declined. They waited until today, July 18th to charge him again.
I phoned and their rep was really great, she even transferred me to the billing department. The rep said, back in May he was charged, then he was charged again and it was declined. So, they were billing him again today for that declined charged. Excuse me? I argued with the rep and told her that you cannot bill a card that was declined. Declined means no money. He got some money in the bank yesterday, then Xbox charged him. They won't allow you to remove your debit card so you can cancel your account. You have to pay another $9.99 to cancel your card. Which is unethical, IMO.
I will be filling a complaint with the BBB and demanding that they fix their billing system. It's wrong!!! Do NOT use your debit card for an XBox Live subscription. The console itself is fine, just don't use the debit card to purchase your subscription. Use the game cards, if they offer them via Gamestop or whatever game store you have. Or wherever you can purchase game cards, at. Please do not use your debit cards for XBox subscription. I would like to also note, the one rep that I spoke to was very rude. Wish I could get a job like that, get paid good money, to talk nasty to customers and get away with it.

My Son constantly encounters hackers, cheaters, & inappropriate user generated content while using Xbox live on his Xbox 360. Watch the following video on YouTube for an example of an actual hacker playing COD Ghosts: "COD Ghosts "Dumbest hacker ever" exposed!!! Cheater Trolling." In this video someone recorded a hacker & posted it on YouTube. This type of hacking is illegal in the United States, yet it happens on a regular basis. Users also use cheat glitches, etc to cheat, & there are websites & YouTube videos that teach users these methods of cheating. Xbox live is also loaded with inappropriate gamertags & user generated content (images, etc) like the calling cards in COD Black Ops 2; there are hundreds if not thousands of gamertags, calling cards, etc that are sexual,or promote illegal drug use, or the use of alcohol, as well as some that are intended to insult anyone who sees them with insulting or offensive words or phrases.
We are constantly reporting these things on Xbox live. On 5/22/15 at approximately 8:07 EST my son was suspended from using Xbox live. The reason given was for abusing the complaint system, & the duration of the suspension is stated as being 24 Hours. I'm especially offended by this because if Xbox enforcement was doing their jobs then complaints wouldn't need to be submitted in the first place. To make it worse, the suspension began on 5/22/15 at 8:07 pm EST, yet the Xbox live enforcement staff dated the suspension into the future, saying that the suspension is for 24 hrs, from 5/23/15 12:05 am - 5/24/15 12:05 am! This just rubs salt in the wound. So my son has been suspended for filing complaints for reasons described above. I also noticed that our Xbox live memberships always expire 2 days prior to the expiration date, for example if it's a 90 day gold membership it expires on the 88th day.

We bought our kids an Xbox One for my sons birthday. It worked fine for the first few months. Then, one day, it just wouldn't load past the start up screen. I called Xbox, ran through all of their suggestions, and ended up sending it in for a repair under the warranty. It took two weeks to get them to send the shipping label to the correct email. Then, it took an additional month to get the Xbox back.
Finally, today, we got it back! My kids were so excited! We plug it in, start the setup, and a zap comes out of the console! It completely shuts down on us! I decided to try it a second time. The second time gave us a different sound, but the same result. It turned off again on its own. I looked up the warranty, and noticed that it had the option to request a refund. I called Xbox customer service, and after being hung up on, finally got a woman that tried to help me.
After an hour and a half, I was told to either send it BACK to them again for a repair, or nothing at all. Even though I already played by their rules, and even though they FURTHER damaged my sons system, and even though I now have a possible fire hazard on my hands, I was told in exact words "it ain't happening". My account in 1 months time went from green (good player) to red (bad player) with no notifications stating it was dropping (like Michael Dunn program manager can be found on Xbox website stating there are notifications prior to reaching avoid me rep).
To top it off I can't play multiplayer in any game for a few bad reports in the last month in 1 of my 40 games. This is pathetic and chat agents refer you to an "enforcement team" made up of fellow gamers (ya they can be trusted… pfft) who don't even respond to my countless inquiries regarding the flawed system. Again, no accountability, no fix, no customer support and the run around from every dept. I talk to Chat center, "talk to Xbox support", Xbox support, "talk to enforcement team", enforcement team, "can ignore and delete whatever post for whatever reason they want even if it doesn't violate the TOS" (obviously because my post is legit and doesn't violate their TOS).

When I finally received a replacement it was not the same console! The one they sent back to me was used, very scratched and had sticky food residue on the front! I expected a new console as that is what I was told I would get. I sent them a brand new $550 dollar console to begin with! I called and complained obviously.
I started a new service request and sent it back with a letter explaining the situation. And that I would like the very first one I sent to be repaired and sent back to me in the same condition I sent it to them in. They just wiped off the sticky stuff and mailed it back! I called support again who told me "that's how it is." I asked them why Microsoft didn't manufacture extra Limited Edition Consoles that were reserved for warranty situations like this? He said "I have no clue because that makes perfect sense." We hike on the phone with support, I plug this awful replacement in and discover that it will not wirelessly sync the wireless controllers! On xbox servers, is it xbox live or game servers? I've been playing video games for years without many issues on gaming console lockups; that is until recently. I began playing the plagued with issues Gears of War 3. Those of us that play the GOW games know that they're notorious for resetting gamer data and for locking up repeatedly. We have contacted Epic Games and xbox live about these issues to no avail. Here is my story on the subject; as I've found that this issue is not only affecting Gears of War 3, but also many other 360 games (left for dead it's a given that you will be booted/locked up and have to eject your disc and reload the game losing all of your work), and with destiny (although it's a rarity and also happens on the PS system as well).
I thought perhaps the issue might be my hard drive for the xbox 360 due to the massive amounts of data that I had stored (250gb hard drive, 56gb free). I bought a new xbox with a 500gb hard drive, brought it home and set it up and moved all of my Gears of War 3 data to the new hard drive; except for the updates and the (unknown player) data. I began playing hoping that would solve the issue but no; once again I locked up as per the norm. I checked the Epic online forums, this issue has been happening since 2011, at the games release. I tried calling Epic Games, but they no longer give support for Gears of War. The option they gave was to phone xbox live. I called, the tech had me go through the usual, redownload my profile, reset my modem/router, clear the cache, do the left/right bumper X trick 3 times combo "fix", etc., etc.
I was told to try playing it again after all of the work and they would call me in a couple of days to find the result. Again, gears locked up after a few rousing games, and also locked up in beast mode (which is not normal, it's usually horde that locks). I began asking people about their issues with not only gears but with other games as well and found that across the board, this is an issue with pretty much all multiplayer games for the 360 console (I haven't had any issues myself except with gears and gtav; but I'm not a big multiplayer gamer). I began taking notes on other peoples issues; who their ISP's were, what types of routers/modems they were using, what games they were having issues with on which maps and at what points they were having the issues. what I began noticing was that this was not a user issue, but a game server or xbox live server issue.
Xbox live did call me back, we spoke for hours and I gave them my 4 full pages of data that I had learned from 4 hours playing online (I spoke with friends and random people; all had something to say about the issue at hand, many of them detailed). The tech spoke with their superior and the superior stated that it was my connection (wireless), ordered me to wire my connection directly to the modem and use a flashdrive. I am to be called back after doing this in the next 5 days. For this I had to purchase an ethernet cable, and a sandisc "official" xbox 360 16gb flashdrive (I tried the regular flashdrive and configured it on the xbox; with the error message that it did not meet xbox's requirements so in order to be in compliance I bought the sandisc xbox model).
(Sidenote on this: I contacted sandisc about these models asking what the differences were, but tech support was unable to give me the information on the differences, and when I say "in compliance" I really mean give them no room for excuses.)
Again I played (directly hooked up to my modem via ethernet cable, and with that xbox official sandisc flashdrive) and again I locked up in horde and beast. We all knew that I would. Today it's going to be left 4 dead that I will get locked out of as I intend fully on checking other known to lock games (and the not known to lock ones such as gearbox's borderlands).
So here's the problem that we all have with xbox's corporate. I'm sure a fair number of people have called xbox personally (I know of many that have) to detail their experiences dealing with this issue; and perhaps in some cases many times, and all of us with the same result. We get sent to a lower tier tech who cannot escalate the ticket without going through extended rigmarole. In my case I was willing to go the extra mile so this issue is finally properly addressed. I was given well wishes (i.e. "good luck on that!" from many people... they've been through this long before me and know how xbox will respond).
Now to xbox: there is an issue with either your servers, or the gaming servers that apparently a lot of companies are following. Is it a line of code that they are all using that is dysfunctional? Is it that your servers are outdated or contain too much data to handle? Is it that the gaming companies servers are? Is it that you are trying to stop support for the xbox 360 (that's my guess); but not informing the public of it so we are stuck playing broken games before we submit and buy the next gen console? You know... the non-backwards compatible xbox one (that I have not bought due to that very problem). I would be satisfied with an answer to these questions and I say to xbox and the gaming companies that if you are not going to support anymore 360 games, it would be prudent of you to inform the public of it. I also say to you (and for the millions of gamers out there) Please Fix This Issue!
This little jaunt that I have been forced to go through in order to get my ticket upgraded to someone that (in my opinion) will do nothing to sort this problem out once and for all (please prove that I am wrong in this assumption), for the millions of people that are having and have had this exact issue has cost me: one brand new xbox 360 (pricetag $250), a new copy of Gears of War 3 (bought used but in excellent condition $2.99), an ethernet cable ($17.97), a sandisc flashdrive (did not work with the xbox due to its system requirements at $15.97), another official xbox sandisc 16gb flashdrive ($19.96, I bought 2 of them just in case at a total of $39.92 sans tax), gas money around $15 and hours and hours of my time.
It is my hope that xbox will finally take a deep look into what is causing this problem, be it their servers or the game servers. Somewhere in there, Something is happening that has yet to be resolved and the gamers are counting on you.
UPDATE: I was forwarded to xbox lives connectivity department where the tech demanded that I remove my xbox from my routers firewall, and refused to escalate my ticket if I did not do so. Basically, make myself vulnerable to being hacked. I asked for Microsoft's phone number and was given their answer desk; who, when prompted, sent me right back to xbox live support. NO HELP AT ALL. So far I have been called back 3 times, and another one on the way for Sunday... where nothing will be done about this issue.

I placed an order for an XBox One on Saturday for a birthday on Friday. On Monday morning, I realized that without having paid for upgraded shipping it was not going to get here on time. A quick check of their FAQs said to call customer service to cancel an item that had not yet been shipped. I called and got a customer service rep who seemed to have an attitude from the get go. I told him I was calling to check the status of an order, because I wanted to cancel if it had not yet been shipped. He made me repeat myself three times, saying he didn't understand what I was asking. His tone of voice while doing so made it clear I was just bothering him. He did check the status of my order and it showed it hadn't been released to ship. More than once, he said he didn't know why it hadn't been released yet, and he couldn't find out.
I asked again to cancel it. He said that option was not available, but if I called back in a couple of days, maybe they could cancel it for me. I asked, in as many different ways as I could think of, did that mean my order wasn't going to ship for at least 2 more days? Trying to get him to understand what I was asking was painful, and I don't think he ever did. He just kept repeating himself. I said I wanted to speak with someone who had more information, or would be more able to get something done. He put me on old for a few minutes and when he came back on, his attitude was even worse. He said he had been "conferring with (his) supervisor." Putting aside whether or not I even believe that, he snippily informed me that they were well within the described the time frame for shipping and nothing was late.
I never once complained about my item not having shipped yet. That was the point. I knew it hadn't shipped yet and so I wanted to try and cancel it. He kept saying that they couldn't cancel it now, but I could call back in "a couple of days" and "maybe" they could cancel it then. I told him that didn't make any sense at all, informed him I would never order from the Microsoft store again, sarcastically thanked him for his help and ended the call. I think the extreme frustration of feeling like he never even understood exactly what I was asking combined with his tone of voice in speaking to me led to the angry me. I'm not happy with that, but this man was impossible to deal with.

I am a gamer. I enjoy it as a hobby/pass time. I have been a Microsoft customer for years using their product the Xbox 360. The Microsoft's Xbox division has a notorious history for being rather greedy and unreliable when it comes to their customers. I had not really experienced anything like this until recently. My second Xbox 360 was purchased at a pawn shop used. It had worked for many years until it started to overheat. When it became too unstable I decided to purchase a used slim model off of eBay. When it came in I wanted to transfer all of my previously downloaded content over to my new Xbox 360. I decided to activate my license transfer and download it all onto my new console.
A few days later when some of my games were fully downloaded my brother wanted to play A Kingdom for Keflings. He had played it previously on my previous Xbox. When he began to play it it was a trial version. I decided to try playing on my account and it was the full version. Confused and slightly aggravated I went to Xbox 360's customer support site and got on a chat with an agent. I explained the problem and he answered about five minutes later, "Devin, I believe I understand what happened here." From this context I believe this is a common problem. He then explained it was because I did not have the license to let all the players on my console play it like I previously did.
So basically even if I had purchased any digital property with real currency and downloaded it if I wanted it to be on another console my ownership of the purchased property is limited. I asked if there was any solution and he said that all I could do is purchase it again. This made me absolutely livid. The only reason I wanted to do a license transfer in the first place is so I would not have to purchase the game again. At this point I started to question him and all I got was passive aggressiveness. In short it's just Microsoft being greedy and unfair to their customers. The worst part about this is that I have purchased many, many downloadable content from Xbox Live and now not only am I stripped of full ownership of my purchased content but also I feel as if I cannot trust any type of virtual purchases.

Xbox one would be stuck in the load screen for over 1 hour. Called customer service and they just provided the one recommendation I have already tried from the website. She then immediately told me I would have to send it in for repair and it would cost ME money to get them to send it to me. No compensation offered for the defective product and no sympathy or apology for the situation. So in the end I had to pay Xbox for their defective product and dealt with a rude representative.

Now they are saying because the account is in the 14 year old's name they can't discuss it with me until they get his pass code and the email associated with it. He made up the email acct. So we can't access it. I have now spent 5 hours trying to get my money back and still nothing. I tried to get a phone number for corporate but it's all robo and no way to connect to anyone. I am so frustrated and angry. They find this acct. every month to charge MY card but they can't refund the money or talk to me. There has to be something illegal about this.

I am so frustrated with Xbox One. I've never been able to enjoy the experience of Xbox Live. We have paid for two annual subscriptions at the household costing £80 and we have never had a stable connection. Keep getting kick from games and joining empty lobbies. I have fiber optic broadband and have had Virgin Media round to investigate, but this does not seem to relate to the broadband service provider as it only loses connection on the console. Fed up now to the point I don't even bother to switch on the console. Feel ripped off as I have paid for a service twice and been unable to use Xbox Live 90% of the time. Thinking of getting a PS4, but shouldn't have to. Can't see Microsoft taking my complaint seriously.

I called Xbox, was assured that all 50 charges would be credited to my bank. Now I am getting the runaround!! Basically brought the day one edition Xbox one console on launch day. After 3 months, the left thumb stick fad shattered on the day, one controller plus in this time the controller kept randomly disconnecting and becoming unresponsive when I switched controller back on. Thought the thumb stick was my fault so went out and brought a new controller. This new controller also kept randomly disconnecting and becoming unresponsive, then a week after, the headset I got with the console stopped working. So I went out and brought a Stereo headset, after about 3 months this head set stopped working, I could hear people through it but no one could hear me, I checked all my privacy settings, this weren't the problem, again I thought it was something I'd done.
So I went out and brought a new stereo headset, this was the third headset I've own. The controller still kept disconnecting and became very regularly, every tens minutes or so, so about two weeks ago I couldn't put up with this controller anymore, so went out and brought a third controller. Got it home and the same thing happened with this brand new controller. So I contacted Xbox support, they told me to master reset console, that didn't changed any thing, then they told me clear my MAC address, this helped but I have to clear MAC address every time I turn console on.
Then in a space of a few days the third head set stopped working, same issues as previous head set. Again I contacted Xbox support and they weren't really listening to what I was saying, just kept going on about the controller. Anyway, I said this must be an issue with the console, so they agreed to send me a replacement console and that I had to send them my current console within 14 days, they said they would 281 dollars (around 185) of my money if they didn't receive my console in that time space. I agreed with this as it was a verbal agreement and they say said I'd receive a confirmation email about this, I didn't so the next day I checked my Xbox service account, and they had cancelled the order without telling me why.
I contacted Xbox support straight away. Told me they didn't know why it was cancelled and that they don't really like replacing consoles as it sounds like I have faulty accessories. Now their idea is me to test my accessories on a friends console, but the thing is my warranty for the console runs out in 4 days. I'm really not happy with the way Xbox support have treated me, I've been a loyal customer with them for years, this really isn't fair.

And why will they not refund this because I didn't catch it for a month on my bank statement? I feel this is a predatory tactic.

I went to play the Xbox one day and it has a message stating locked until subscription is updated. I logged in to update, no balance showing so I call Xbox and talk to a rep but they can't find an issue due to system issues. I call back later and get a helpful rep but still having system issues so he advises he will call back once issue is resolve. True to his word he calls back and tries to correct the billing issue. He was not able to correct so he escalated the issue.
A few days later I get an email stating the Xbox was permanently lock, this was the only email I received about issue with payments. I called Xbox back and was told to contact the retailer which I did in September and Toys r Us still has not responded. The payments were being made to Xbox live, not Toys r Us, guess the rep was just trying to get me off the phone. There were 4-5 payments left which I would gladly pay but no one seems to want to take the payments. Just very unsatisfied with Xbox and the customer non-service. The Xbox is now a useless paper weight, the kids are just getting into games so I may get a PS3 or a Wii U since Xbox will not help resolve issue.

There are constant service issues which result in me (and my good friends) to have to play our games offline. I realize that during Christmas people are all playing the console at the same time and it screws everything up, but this type of thing should have been taken into account by Xbox. While trying to get back online, it says that the service issues are in, for example: Xbox Live Store. How should the Xbox store affect my gameplay when I have never bought anything from the store very recently? I am fed up with the constant "service issues" and believe that Xbox should take action to get rid of them and keep their loyal gamers happy.

Microsoft advertised a Black Friday sale (starting on Thursday 27th) for an Xbox 360 bundle for $129. The bundle meant that it included the console and a game (choice of 3 different games). I went online at 9am on the 27th, ordered the bundle with a game, went to check out and it said something was not in stock. I called customer service, was on the phone for over 50 minutes, he couldn't find a game. So we ordered the bundle for $129 with the game coming when it was in. NO, I got the console but no game. I called customer service again who said that I couldn't get the game now because the console shipped. What? It comes with the bundle that I paid for! It makes no sense.
And BTW, no games were available online during the sale, but sure enough, as soon as the sale ended, all the games were available to order at full price on the website. It was misleading and a total scam. It is clear Microsoft/xbox never intended to provide a game (I wanted Plants vs. Zombies) with the bundle. I'm really disgusted by the whole process. Plus, the second time I called customer service she said someone would be back in touch with me... of course no one was. Very bad business practices and very bad customer service.

After being on the online chat and on the phone for over a total of 6 hours, we were told there is nothing they can do and we should go back to the retailer we bought it from. We were told Microsoft sold these consoles with a 2-year contract built in to them. Now that they have expired, it has locked up the console and it can no longer be used. One rep actually told me to go buy a new Xbox one. Which we were considering for Christmas. However, due to this poor service, we will now be purchasing a PlayStation device. XBOX has lost a customer for life!! I purchased a 12 month online subscription ($60) for my 13 year old son at Game Stop. We get home and my son takes a pair of scissors and scratches off the silver strip on the back of the card and bears down so hard that half the numbers are unrecognizable. Keep in mind he is 13. I was told at Game Stop that I would have to call XBOX and I was warned by the Game Stop employee how horrible XBOX is. Boy were they correct!! I called and asked for a manager and after waiting for about 15 minutes I finally got a manager that said his name was Moxi??? Really, Moxi? After he informed me there was nothing he could do I asked to speak with his Boss and he said he was the only one I could talk to and when I asked for his Boss's email address he told me he doesn't have one. Now come on Moxi, do you think I was born yesterday?? You have a Boss, you work for Microsoft but I can't talk to your Boss and he doesn't have an email???
I should probably be thanking XBOX because I will NEVER spend another dollar on a game or online subscriptions for my son. What pisses me off is that I might as well have burned that $60 and how idiotic XBOX is not to realize that they would have been far better off monetarily to honor my 12 month subscription and keep a customer for life!!! NOT ANOTHER DOLLAR OF MINE WILL YOU GET XBOX!!!

Several months have elapsed since this issue but my feelings about it have if anything strengthened my resolve to have little or nothing to do with Microsoft in future. Although my children still have an XBox, it will not be replaced and I will in due course move them over to the PS4. The issue I refer to is not uncommon and has been written about previously on many forums by people who have encountered similar problems. I do not play computer games, but my children do, and therefore have an XBox One. When it was first set up to use the XBox Live system, it was not particularly clear that the credit card used would be associated to the account or that it could be easily removed. There lies the basic problem... my 10 year old son played Fifa 2014 happily for several weeks before being tempted by the constant barrage of in game enticements to purchase additional content. He then went on, in a very short space of time to run up a bill of nearly £400.
It was not until I received my credit card statement that I realized what was happening. I contacted Microsoft customer support and am still amazed to this day at the scandalous response. I can recall a colleague of mine having a very similar issue with Apple apps being purchased by her young daughter. A simple call to Apple customer service and the matter was resolved immediately with a full refund. I naively expected Microsoft to respond similarly to my predicament. The whole experience was pretty much the polar opposite from that of Apple. Microsoft's approach is very much, 'we have your money and we're keeping it.'
My contact with them was via the online chat type dialogue boxes and later by telephone. Initially I was told that I would need to contact my credit card company and that a full refund would be arranged. This was quite simply not true and in effect I was mislead by Microsoft with information that they knew was simply not true and not how such matters are resolved. My credit card company explained that as the vendor, Microsoft would need to issue a refund.
I spoke to Microsoft again, this time to be told that a refund would not in fact be possible as the sale had been properly made. As a gesture of goodwill they agreed to refund just one of the numerous transactions made at a cost of £79.99. The refund was administered immediately - obviously they could have just as easily refunded the whole amount, but greedily just chose not to. As I said at the start, I will not use Microsoft unless absolutely necessary. A thoroughly disgraceful experience as a retail customer of a greedy corporate Goliath.
