GameStop has been absolutely atrocious in terms of customer service. First, my package was lost, then when I tried to contact support I spent 2.5 hours on hold. And when I tried to send emails to support for help, I got 0 replies. Same thing when I tried the online chat, I was told I was first in queue and my chat remained open for 12 straight hours with no reply. Then after all this, my package was 2 weeks late and incorrect. Not only won’t I never purchase anything from them ever again, I will never recommend them to another person.

I purchased a PS4 slim 1 terabyte new from Gamestop in Fairfield OH for Christmas 2018. The system is 1 year and 1 month old. I had spent 500 dollars on everything I had purchased. I had never had any complaints or issues with the staff in the store until today. Allison was obviously put off by my questions to how I could go about checking on the warranty, having the console fixed, etc. Even so much so that my 13 year old even said something about her attitude. I'm sure anyone would agree a product should last more than 1 year. I am also sure that had she spent the $500.00 that she would have asked the same questions.
If you cannot pleasantly help a repeat long term customer then you shouldn't be working Allison in a public position. The comment you made as the gentleman came in as I was leaving with my 13-year-old son "just in the nick of time" was not appreciated by either one of us. You are rude. You just lost a long term repeat customer for Gamestop.

The Xbox one x is currently on sale brand new for $349.99 so I went online to GameStop.com and ordered a new Xbox one x gears of war 5 bundle to be picked up at a local GameStop location. The next day I went and picked up my new console. When I got home I opened the box and started to unbox everything, the console itself was full of fingerprints and dust so I checked the box and made sure it said new which it did. So I plugged everything in and turned the console on, at this point I realized the controller was already synced to the Xbox. I then went online and registered the console to find out it had been previously registered with a warranty expiration of 12/26/20. I took this console back to the same store I purchased it, explained what happened and exchanged it for a Xbox one x division 2 bundle (all they had in stock).
When I got home this console was just like the previous console, both marked new but obviously used, the 2nd console had more fingerprints and dust then the first console, the controller was already synced as well and the registration for this console ended in 5/2/20. I contacted Microsoft support who advised me if the console looks used to return it if I wanted a new console (which I do I payed for a new console). I decided to go to a different GameStop the 3rd time and after I explained what happened I was told “that’s virtually impossible”. I then show the employee my screenshot of the warranty and my conversation with Microsoft. He exchanged the Xbox for me and open the new one in front of me so we could both check it.
After 3 trips (each 20 mins from my house) I finally have a new console but I had to get some GameStop exclusive Xbox console because it was all they had it stock. The console white with fake paint splatters which In my opinion looks awful next to my other electronics. So $350 plus dollars and 3 trips later I finally have a new Xbox that’s a color I didn’t want. This will be my last console purchase from GameStop.

DO NOT SHOP at GameStop unless you are a criminal because that's how everyone is treated by their policy. Shop at Walmart, Target, BestBuy, Gamers Etc, or any other place that actually have companies where there are people in their company outside the store will do what's right even if the people in the store aren't always the best representatives of customer service. I couldn't even get someone higher than the incapable, disrespectful, uneducated (relating to California Law... calm down people) store manager Vanessa to discuss the situation with me. Cowards. Plus, this is over a $40 controller COLOR! I just wanted a different color, which the other store (and practically every store in the world would tell you) told me I could do when the color came in.
All I ask anyone who cares about them-self is to ONE time stand up for the real customers. Do not make your next electronics purchase at GameStop (even if just once) and quietly, defiantly, courageously say we will not accept being treated like a criminal because other people steal from you! This is an extremely long story but it comes down to this....Vanessa the manager and the entire company do not care about treating an ACTUAL customer as a customer, they hide behind an illogical "policy" that treats everyone like a criminal.
You can choose to stop shopping at GameStop as I have, as my sons won't be, and as many people as I can get to see the light...but you don't have to if you don't want to. Keep shopping there. They need the money as I have read their stock price is down 60% at the third quarter, and I see that stores are closing. You may not want to get anything that has an extended warranty because they may be out of business before you can bring back your item. Good luck out there Vanessa. I hope your resume is up to date.
The policy - To do an even exchange (even accompanied by a valid receipt, unopened box, sent from the Lower Sac GameStop, no reason to believe any form of fraud or deceit was occurring, and the fact that no money was being returned) they must have you state your home address. Several conversations by phone could not get anyone higher than the brazenly awful Store manager Vanessa who illegally believes she can refuse service to anyone (which you can't except for certain situations) and doesn't even know how to use her own Point of Purchase system (as evidenced by her coming to "help" me and not knowing that it would ask for the address to do the exchange (which the cashier had already told her I refused to provide) or how to circumvent it when a customer declines to provide their personal home information (I did provide them a current cell phone number).
Neither Vanessa nor the original cashier denied the exchange (they both tried to do it but froze up when I said that they didn't need my home address). The law states that I have a right and companies must at my request delete personal data (so why do they have a policy that claims I have to provide it). The 3 in store problems:
*They BELIEVE that store policy overrides the law.*They DO NOT have a way to verify my home address anyway (which means yes I could have given them any address but I did not on principle).
*They DID NOT deny the exchange until I would not comply with the unlawful DEMAND of personal information at which time they took both controllers. REMEMBER, I already owned the merchandise and they took it from me and placed it behind the counter when they denied the exchange. I had to remind them that they are stealing my property before they gave it back.
The law says that they must have a posted return policy or blah blah blah. They do. I met all requirements of it, and nowhere does it say that you have to give private information. Not to mention, HAVE YOU SEEN HOW MANY COMPANIES ARE GETTING CUSTOMER INFORMATION STOLEN!! Now, why the whole company? They investigated and believe the store can do what they did (stupidly not fixing the problem). However, they told me twice and twice I waited for someone to contact me but nobody has the intestinal fortitude to follow up with me. They know that they're wrong because if I gave them YOUR address they would have accepted it. I could have just played their game but remember...I already have the merchandise. I just wanted a different color. I don't need a different color.
So, they have lost a life long customer over a non-monetary even exchange and I will no longer make purchases at any GameStop. I control the purchasing power of three sons who are gamers who will no longer shop at any GameStop, and I influence the decisions of thousands of high school students...good luck GameStop, you'll need it! Lol. P.S. Their "Going Out of Business, Everything Must Go" sale was selling PS4 controllers for $20 more than they were just on sale for and $10 more than Walmart's regular price! They are still trying to rip you off when they are promoting great "Going Out of Business" deals? What deals!?

I ordered a PlayStation 4 refurbished in the second week of November. Received product first week of October and the controller did not work. It is now January 9th and I still have not received my controller after returning the old one and them receiving it over a week and a half ago. Every time I call they keep telling me they don't know what's going on and "I'll resend it". Within 2 days I get an email saying order was canceled and have to call all over again. They were going out of business in my area and we saw a sign 20-30% off everything. So we went in to have a look and saw a keyboard. With 20% off it would have been about 25 dollars. Next week I saw a sign saying 50% off so I thought about that keyboard and went in. The same keyboard I looked at was marked up to 115.00 and 50% off would have made it 57.50. You know I'm glad they are going. Bunch of crooks.

I purchased a $50 GameStop gift certificate online for a young person before Christmas and it never arrived to either the young person's email or my email even with repeated calls to their horrendous customer service center who kept promising that the gift card would be emailed within 3 days of my complaint. I repeated this drill numerous times with their customer service center. I even tried to contact their corporate office, and they do not answer their phones since everything is routed to an email. When I asked to speak to a supervisor in their customer service center I was on hold for way too long.
Finally weeks later, a supervisor simply gave me the gift card number to purchase a product online that I can give the recipient of the gift card and he can use immediately. Why I did not get this info after I spent hours upon hours on the phone is beyond me. When I asked for any kind of compensation for all the time in took to correct this nightmare, I was offered an additional $25 that the young person would have to go into the store to use. A small offer for a colossal customer service failure at all levels of their company. Stay far away from GameStop. Their protocols are cumbersome, antiquated and predatory.

I ordered two items over a month ago and they immediately withdrew money from my account but have yet to ship the items to me. It's been almost a month now. They immediately put the items in a "Shipped" status (December 1st) meaning they have created a UPS label for it, boxed them up, and it's waiting to be delivered to UPS by them. Because of this, they refuse to cancel or refund the order, yet they are hanging on to my money with no sign of actually sending me anything. I've sent them numerous emails with no response. I've talked the them on the phone (after over an hour wait on hold) and they promised me a refund in which never happened. Is this not some kind of fraud?

I stopped buying games from these people decades ago because even as a little kid I didn't like being raped. They pay you pennies for your used games and then sell you someone else's used game for a huge mark up... But they were having a sale and I decided to purchase from them again. Big Mistake. It was the digital copy of a game that I could have paid more for at many other retailers, but I would have received it in a timely manner. Not at LameStop. They want to make you wait 24 to 48 hours for no reason. Not to mention I tried to order it a couple times from my phone to no avail, and eventually succumbed to making the purchase from my desktop. I purchased over $300 worth of Overwatch Ultimates figures on Black Friday for Christmas gifts. They were running a $10 discount per figure with free Overwatch Mask w/ Any Overwatch Ultimate Figure Purchase. While the transaction, shipping, etc. went relatively smoothly, I never received the free mask(s) nor any instructions on redemption process.
I called Gamestop 3 times to get this issue resolved. Suffice to say, the agents told me that the deal was over and that there was nothing they could do. One agent even told me they ran out of masks when clearly I could see that inventory was available online. I gave up after the 3rd frustrating call. This is likely my last Black Friday/Cyber Monday with GameStop. They were my go-to store for gaming since college (almost 20 years), but I feel that their service is lacking compared to their competitors. I felt I should share my message since I obviously was not getting through to their service department.

This review is going to be EXTREMELY long, but worth the read. I wish I could give this store more than 5 stars, and I've never even been there yet. The reason for that is...Bob. Bob deserves ALL the stars...and the moon...and the sun...and the Galaxy itself. Bob is a hero without a cape (or maybe he has a cape, I don't know, I've never met him so I'm not sure what he's into).
Bob just single handedly made my 5 year old son's Christmas. My son is absolutely head over heels OBSESSED with Godzilla, he is a TRUE fan, loves all the classics, knows every single monster and movie and all, and has about a MILLION figures and toys. He saw videos on YouTube of a Godzilla game that came out in 2015 for PS4 over 6 months ago and I've been trying to find it since, but because the game didn't review well not many copies were made and now it can't be found online for less than a couple hundred even used...as a single mom struggling to get through each week let alone pull off Christmas, I just can't afford that for one game/gift.
I discovered that GameStop sells it pre-owned for $60 (imagine that...$60 used!!). But the problem is they almost never have it. I imagine it either gets snapped up by other diehard fans or by employees who know they can resell online for more. I saw it on the website about an hour from me but wanted to call first, but it was gone by the next morning. So I searched 100 miles from my zip code, 100 miles from a zip code an hour west, east, north and south of me. No luck. I had friends in many other states search 100 miles from them...no luck. I tried EVERYTHING, and my local GameStop wouldn't be bothered trying to help me, they told me they can only search up to 100 miles too.
Last night after working very late and being completely exhausted and stressed over Christmas and spending countless hours yesterday searching online for this thing or that on their lists, I decided to take a break and check 100 miles from me for the hell of it, expecting to come up empty. To my amazement, it showed there was a copy at the Little Falls store. I wasn't going to make the same mistake twice by waiting to call when they opened so I quickly, heart pounding, added it to my cart, fully expecting it to pop up and tell me I couldn't check out because it was no longer available. I made it through checkout, paid the $67 and change after taxes (and a $3 protection plan because yeah it's a $60 USED game).
I went to bed feeling better than I have in weeks, completely over the moon that he was going to get his game that I had driven myself crazy over for half a year. The confirmation said to wait until I received email confirmation, so I planned to drive the 45 minutes to Little Falls in the morning once I received it. Fast forward to 9:15 this morning when I received an email...for the cancellation of my order. I very impatiently waited for 10am when the store would open to call and demand answers. I was dialing by 9:58. By now I had had 45 minutes to fester and I was livid.
I probably called somewhere between 7-12 times before someone picked up...Bob. Poor Bob had no idea about my Godzilla obsessed kid who literally sits and watches YouTube videos of other people playing the game while wishing he could, my long search, my late nights on eBay and GameStop.com and Google, all the bidding wars that ended while I was sleeping or working, the countless times I would think I was about to win just to be outbid at the very end of the auction by an amount that took it way above my budget. Bob was probably not expecting the angry, sleep deprived, deranged person on the other end of the phone when he answered ever so politely.
"Uh, yeah, I'd like someone to tell me EXACTLY WHY a game I ordered AND PAID FOR on the website last night was cancelled at 9:14 this morning before the store was even OPEN." I will admit that a character flaw of mine is always jumping to the worst possible conclusion...like that an employee had come in the morning and cancelled my order so they could buy it... especially after reading the night before (because I was neurotically Googling how reliable the Buy-Online-Pickup-In-Store stock system was and trying to figure how likely I was to actually get hands on my unicorn of a game).
Bob did not even flinch or miss a beat, he very politely explained to me that unfortunately even though the website said it was in stock there, it never actually was and that another employee had taken in a trade right before closing the night before for the game God of War and accidentally hit the Godzilla game instead when entering the info to the system as Godzilla was right under God of War on the list. He apologized sincerely, and my fury deflated and (some) of my sanity returned...after all, it wasn't really Bob I was mad at.
I explained to him about my son and how much he absolutely loves everything Godzilla and that I'd been driving myself up a wall (which of us parents ISN'T doing exactly the same thing this time of year) trying to get the game for 6+ months and how I was just hoping for a Christmas miracle to be able to make it happen for Christmas. I told him this was the second disappointing "almost had it". By now I was feeling completely defeated and just sad, and really felt like just giving up on the whole thing. Then Bob said he wanted to help me. He had already found a copy down in Georgia (hmmmm...but I thought they can only search 100 miles as well, according to the employee at my local store?) in the short time we'd been on the phone, and was looking for more leads.
"I can't go all the way to Georgia" was my response as I'd been told by a different employee at a different store that they wouldn't ship it from store to store even if he found it. He said he wasn't asking me to, that he would get it sent right to him and I could pick it up. He asked for my contact info and said he'd give me a call back in 25 minutes or so. Before he hung up he said "I like to help people and I'm pretty good at these types of things". I thanked him profusely and told him he's awesome, but did not have high hopes he'd be able to find it other than another inventory mistake.
I waited, impatiently, trying to keep busy. An hour went by and I noticed I had a missed call and voicemail from Bob saying the Georgia copy didn't pan out as it had been purchased as soon as they opened, but that he had a few more leads and was still working on it but didn't want me to think he'd forgotten me. I was still completely skeptical and felt bad that he was spending hours of his day calling all over the place for my sake trying to hunt down some silly Godzilla game for a 5 year old (and I knew he was cause I tried to return his call and got the busy signal twice). Back to waiting.
I must have dozed off because I woke up around 1:45 and saw I'd missed two calls and a voicemail from him. I listened to the voicemail then called him back. "YOU. ARE. AMAZING!!!!!" were the first words out of my mouth when he answered. He chuckled and confirmed it was me. He seemed pretty excited and happy to inform me that he had not only FOUND THE GAME and that it was already ON ITS WAY. I almost fell off my seat, I think I was in a total state of shock. He apologized for it taking so long (yes, HE apologized to ME for spending his entire day so far searching GameStops like a madman for a game for a complete strangers son), and explained he'd had to wait out the THREE HOUR time difference until a GameStop in CALIFORNIA opened.
He *WAITED* out a *THREE HOUR* time difference...to help out a STRANGER. All the while I assume making calls to GameStops all over the country. ALL. OVER. THE. COUNTRY. He then proceeds to tell me that on top of all that, he might even have found a more local copy that's on hold for someone that he will PERSONALLY PICK UP and then PERSONALLY DROP OFF TO HIS COWORKER tomorrow morning (I assume the hold expires today or something) so that I can have it sooner, but if not I'll still have it probably the end of this week and definitely before Christmas.
MIND. BLOWN. Bob accomplished the impossible in finding not just one but possibly two copies of my unicorn. And he went absolutely above and beyond, over the moon and the river and through the woods, to grandmother's house and back, battled through swarms of orcs, had an epic lightsaber battle on his spaceship ride to Knowhere, came back and crossed Mordor, and survived the fires of Mount Doom to do it. I probably thanked him a few hundred times, and thinking back I don't think I ever even apologized for my initial attitude on the first phone call this morning.
Not all heroes wear capes, but is this guy actually some sort of real life angel or something? I wasn't entirely sure more than a handful people like this even existed anymore in the world, and I was under the impression it was a concrete unbreakable RULE OF THE UNIVERSE for them to never work in retail. People who are not only willing to help others with no expectation of something in return, but actually ENJOY doing so.
I've seen some pretty horrible reviews of GameStop employees at other locations (and experienced such when I was made to believe by one at my own local store that none of this was even possible, perhaps laziness or whatever the case may be), perhaps all GameStop employees should be made to attend a mandatory training seminar by Bob. He could do amazing things for his store and GameStops company. I have never in my life in any store anywhere experienced such incredible and outstanding customer service and just plain actual care for other human beings.
In all seriousness, I hope this review somehow magically makes its way to the eyes of the people above Bob and up the chain of command. I know without a shadow of a doubt there are probably more people than not that would have tracked the game down, had it sent to them and purchased it to resell for themselves and just told me they had no luck without a single care or second thought about a stressed out, struggling single mom that just wants to see her 5 year old light up on Christmas, that's unfortunately a lot of the world we live in these days. He deserves recognition, promotion, a raise, and a corner office (if he wants one anyway). GameStop has a truly amazing employee here who genuinely knows what excellent customer service and caring is and does anything and everything to practice it, and THAT is what is needed especially in chains like GameStop.
I truly believe if they filled their stores with employees like this, or at least truly appreciated and cherished the few they might have by rewarding their excellence, their business and profits would explode. I have never been so impressed in all my 31 years of life. Truly just at a loss to even find the words to describe this experience and how good it made me feel. That is the type of employee and human being that has the ability to restore people's faith in a store, it's company, retail in general, and humanity itself.
I feel like the praise in this ridiculously long review that probably absolutely ZERO people will make it to the end of, doesn't even do any of what happened today or Bob justice. He made a kid's Christmas today, a kid he doesn't even know. I really, really hope he's working when I go pick the game up so I can thank him (and finally apologize) in person, I think I'll bake him some cookies or something too. Keep being awesome, Bob!

GameStop is not a bad place, they are making their money. They have a good selection, it is not hard to go in, pick a game, and head home to play it. However they are more pricey than others! My biggest note to anyone shopping there it is NOT worth trading or selling anything back to them. You could buy something brand new and sell it back or trade a week later for whatever reason and they offer around $1.00. It is not worth it in anyway shape or form. I don't understand why they even offer the option. It feels disrespectful to the customers.

I purchased a PS4 for my son last year Dec. 2018. His system started overheating, and I needed to have it serviced. I went to my local Gamestop, at Gateway Mall and spoke with one of the Reps. He was very helpful to say the least. He advised me after he pulled up my information by my phone number to bring the system in, so they could exchange it for a new one. I'm sure you you didn't see me mention anything about receipt. I was so happy he could pull up my info and the warranty that I had purchased along with the system. I bought the PS4 back and swapped it with a new one fresh out of the box. My only issue was that I had to purchase a new warranty for the new PS4. I have to admit, it's way cheaper than buying another system for my son.

It took a week just for them to process my order and a week after the processing to deliver. I contacted customer support, I felt my email to them was polite and fair, yet they didn't even bother to get back to me and I was never offered a refund on the shipping. This was especially annoying to me because I was planning to review the video game on youtube and make some guides. After Five phone calls to their customer service (each wait for about an hour and a half all five times), I was discussing my Dreamer edition of Link's Awakening and its respective amiibo. I had received an email saying my pre-order from March 2019 is on hold 4 days before release. I went to my local Gamestop and discussed it with the staff. They managed to handle the situation one million times better than their customer service sites. Anyway, the store manager(s) called their own private gamestop number for customer service and managed to reassure me it was a site bug, "its fine, and your order will go through" is what I was told. I get another email saying my order is still on hold. I go to the store again and the staff were nice enough to call again and reassure me. That same evening on the after the second visit I get an email confirming my order, great, then TWO HOURS LATER I get an email saying my order has successfully been cancelled.
I go back to the store Monday after work and spend an hour with the staff again just to be told that my order and the phone calls I made as well as their store manager made NEVER EXISTED. WTF. I do not blame the store staff. They did their job superbly compared to their customer service. I will be going again today because the store manager had requested the phone call (all recorded for "training purposes") from their district manager to prove this is not in our own heads but actually happened.
It is such ** that both the customers and the staff of the stores (in-person staff) get treated like garbage for the Company's shortcomings and can not even admit that they messed up. They do not even need to admit it, just fix it and move on. Luckily I did my research and noticed that this has happened numerous times this month allow with practically every pre-order they had for Links awakening, Borderlands 3, and Cyberpunk 2077. GameStop.com is beyond horrible when it comes to customer service. I preordered borderlands 3 super deluxe edition. I paid extra to receive it on the release date 9/13/19, today. I received the tracking info on 9/12/19 through email. I patiently wait most of the date for the package to be given to UPS. At 5:56pm I call to find out what is going on and to ensure I will receive it today as guaranteed by GameStop.
I wait 1hr and 20min to speak to Dillon. He can not confirm that UPS had the package. All he can tell me is that since it’s not after 9pm that I should still get it today. If I don’t get it to call back on Monday. Not what I wanted to hear, not a real answer to what is going on. So I check a little later to see if there is any update on the GameStop or UPS webpage. Turns out right after I speak to Dillon, at 7:29pm 9/13/19 UPS magically received the item from GameStop. This is too late to receive the item on the date guaranteed by GameStop today 9/13/19. Now I have to wait until 9/16/19 to receive the item.
I did not wait until Monday to call back. I called again just after 9pm and waited another 1hr 10min to speak to someone. Speaking with David I was told an exception was made for me and my shipping charge would be refunded but that was all that could be done. I was also told that the shipping change did not have to be refunded even though GameStop did not follow through with their promise of getting me on the release date. I then spoke with David’s supervisor Daniel and suggested a suitable solution. To give me a download code for the basic game so I could start playing and I would patiently wait for all my extra content to come on Monday with my physical super deluxe copy stuck with UPS.
Daniel informed me that there is no one that would be able to make that call until Monday at corporate. This is a huge lack of foresight in customer service, not having someone empowered to take care of customers on the weekend. I hope that this issue is not common and that an exception like this could be made easily. I will no longer be using GameStop.com for any purchases and seriously doubt using a physical location or ThinkGeek. I will also make sure I let everyone I can know of the failures in GameStop's customer service. Wish I could give them 0 stars. I will be going to the game manufacturers directly from now on

If I could have provided ZERO stars, I would have. GameStop is awful! On Saturday 5/11/19, I went online and purchase ONE $40.00 digital gift card to be given to the neighbor for his birthday. I immediately received an email from GameStop claiming my bank declined the purchase. I called my bank who assured me that it was not the case. So, I called GameStop back, who suggested that this online gift card would take 3 days to be released to me, after the "per-authorization" was approved.
On Monday 5/13/19, I checked to see if GameStop released the $40 digital gift card to me. No, they had not; instead, they sent me another email stating that my bank declined the transaction. I called my bank only to discover that TWO transactions of $40 had been FULLY WITHDRAWN from my bank account. At this time, I disputed the charges with my bank and contacted GameStop again. This time, the RUDE, male, chauvinistic rep HUNG UP ON ME!
On Wednesday 5/15/19, I received an email from Tier One (GameStop) stating that these $40 fees would 'accumulate'. WHAT?!?! How does a ONE TIME PURCHASE for a single $40 digital gift card incur an accumulation? I replied to this email with CLEAR & CONCISE instruction that I NEVER want to invest another penny toward GameStop.
On Thursday 5/16/19, as I was reviewing my bank account I noticed that GameStop took a THIRD $40 FULL WITHDRAWAL from my bank account. Again, I contacted my bank to file another dispute & again, I contacted GameStop. This time, I spoke to Krisey (ID#**) who was RUDE and claimed to be the boss, when I asked for her Supervisor. Krisey, also, played unprofessional phone games while claiming to be on a broken telephone system. Krisey, too, ended the call by hanging up on me.
Now, I am left to work this out with my bank. The only resolution we can make is to cancel my credit card, altogether, so that GameStop cannot THIEVE anymore $40 transactions from my bank account. GameStop has done NOTHING to resolve this issue; in fact, they have accused me of LYING about the funds being deducted. My account was hacked and all of my points were used fraudulently. In fact, there is also a huge error as the person that hacked into my account and used my points have made my points now go into a negative balance. My original balance was approx 150k points which is equivalent to $150 in store credit. It is now negative almost $250k points which is equivalent to me owing $250 which is impossible. I not only have been a loyal member of the power rewards for years on top of years now, but I also pay for this membership and the ability to earn and save my points.
I contacted Gamestop immediately and was told an investigation would be opened and I would receive a call back. I did not receive a call back and it has now been 3 weeks. I call back today to be told that the decision was made not to give any of my points back. I was then denied the ability to speak to their fraud dept and that they have been receiving a lot of phone calls from other customers stating their account was compromised as well. In fact, both the representative I spoke to and the supervisor he directed me to both clearly stated several times that the fraud dept's decision is not right and a lot of customers have been really upset but they have no power to assist anyone.
For me to spend $1000's not 100's... Over $1000 this year alone with a company and also pay for a membership in which I can earn credit but not be helped and denied the chance to speak to whoever is making this decision is absolutely absurd. I use these points for myself and my 12 year old son. I have been robbed of my points and the store credit that I earned by SPENDING MONEY.
The person who fraudulently stole my points used them on digital Google Play cards in which I have never used or purchased in my entire life. My history on how I use my points is clearly visible and they have not been used in several years other than to renew my membership if need be. I am extremely upset that I spent all of these years buying from Gamestop and they have no care that I was screwed out of what I rightfully paid for and earned. On top of this, My account is STILL NEGATIVE IN POINTS. I have made 2 purchases in the past 3 weeks in which I received no points or credit for due to this.
Gamestop has been in and out of the news lately in reference to possibly going out of business and it is funny that this happens. Gaming is a major hobby and portion of not only my life by my child's life and I have invested a lot of money into it. I did not invest my money, time and loyalty to Gamestop to be screwed over. I find it sad that they do not care about how they treat their customers. I will not be going into Gamestop stores ever again with my daughter or purchase anything online.

I am very disappointed about Gamestop for not having a bathroom. Every time I go there guess what. There isn't one. I get so mad that they have no bathroom and sometimes I get the thought of suing Gamestop but nah. I think not. Al the kids won't be able to buy games but if they don't have a bathroom the next Gamestop I see I'm going to buy a RPG and blow it up then I'm going to sue it. I'm tired of going to Gamestop and having to dish Gamestop, make a bathroom or else.
Changed "dishware" to "dish" (subject others to criticism or punishment) which makes more sense.

Ordered a refurbished iPhoneX for Christmas. It was delivered late. Took to AT&T for SIM card. Was told it was stolen. Service told me to exchange at a store and stores told me they can’t sell but turn in to headquarters. They then said I needed to return before they send a new one. Sent it back next day and took over 2 weeks for them to receive and they told me they would send another out ASAP. Next day received notice from PayPal that transaction was cancelled. When I called again, they told me they were not going to sell me one. They even stopped answering calls from my cell so I had to call from another phone. Horrible service - do not waste your time. We found another website and all good. GameStop even sent a link to review them that didn’t work!

I could not tell you yet if the game was any good. I can tell you that the online ordering experience was complete trash. I am an "elite pro" member at Gamestop - a status that I paid $30.00 for last year before the elite pro program failed (my status as elite pro expires in April of this year). With this, I am entitled to free two day shipping. Neat. Except that Gamestop instead charges an exorbitant handling fee that is over 5 dollars. After I placed the order, I tried cancelling it online only to have the website hang-up on me every time I went to submit a message requesting the cancellation - note that this was only a few minutes after placing the order. So I let the order go. 6 days later (what happened to two day shipping?), a package arrives. Right box... wrong game! Amazing.
I ordered Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far and received Kingdom Hearts: 2.8 HD Final Chapter Prologue. My only recourse is to return it and hope they send back the correct game. So it will likely be at least a full week until this happens. Lesson learned? Gamestop.com sucks and I'm only buying in store until my elite pro status expires, following which I will only be ordering from Amazon. As a final note about Gamestop.com. They recently ran a New Year's buy 2 get 1 deal in which they jacked up the prices on used games. At that time, it was CHEAPER TO BUY THEM NEW. What a complete load of BS.

This year my teenage son decided to save his money to purchase his own video games on Black Friday week. On November 26 my son went into our local GameStop located in Westfall PA and purchased three XBOX gift cards. His plan was to purchase the gift cards and then order the games online because he doesn't have his own personal credit card to purchase the games directly online.
My son was so excited until he entered the 3rd gift card code into the computer. It gave him an error message that said, "This code has been deactivated." When we reported to GameStop they stated it was a "Microsoft Issue." When we contacted Microsoft they told us they could not help us because the retailer, (GameStop) sold us a "deactivated gift card." Microsoft said they should be the ones to return the money to us or issue us a new gift card. I tried contacted GameStop over 5 times and they kept telling me they were going to call me back but never did. I reached out to them via email. After the 2nd attempt they told me they weren't going to issue me a new card or reimburse the money. We am so upset because GameStop basically stole from my teenage son and they are getting away with it.

Purchased a brand new Nintendo Switch. We had one and thought it was broken (it was outside the window for GameStop return). Upon plugging in the newly purchased one, it also didn’t work. The issue was the television not the console. Went into store and was told they could give us $190. We spent $362.42 less than 3 weeks prior. We were then told we should sell it online as it would be better than their policy. Friendly workers in store but not satisfied.
Called GameStop customer service. Spoke to man who could not give me refund. Asked to speak to his supervisor. Hunter was the floor manager’s name and ID was **. He also could not issue me a refund. I requested to speak to his manager and he would not provide. He became very defensive and raised his voice at me more than once. I do not appreciate the intimidation nor the defensiveness. He told me it is “against their policy” to give us any information to contact a floor manager supervisor. I requested where I might find this information to verify what he claimed. He said it is an internal policy and I can’t see it.
I must admit, I had to laugh at this as it was the most ludicrous policy I had ever heard. I told him as such and explained I would be spreading the word and contacting corporate. He sarcastically offered me the CEOs number and told me he was ending the call multiple times when I requested to know information about him or his supervisor. Very rude and completely unacceptable. If I could give a negative star rating this store would receive a -5! At the suggestion of a local store manager I placed an online order from them for a game my son desperately wanted because they didn't have in stock. I was guaranteed the game would b compatible with the new Xbox system he got for Christmas. I paid a premium to get this game in a hurry. It arrived three days after it was promised and there were 2 identical used copies of it, neither of which will work in his system.
Multiple attempts to reach the customer service number they provided on the invoice included in their package was met with a "Circuits Are Currently Busy" message regardless of the time of day! Out of options, I took both copies of this useless game to my store. I was offered 1/4 of what I JUST paid THEM to buy them back?! The arrogant desk flunkie had a 'sucks to be you' attitude that was infuriating! What recourse do I have in this matter? I don't think I'm ever buying anything online again! I have had trouble with making online purchases in the past, but they were minor. I feel so stupid entrusting this site with my Christmas shopping this year. I should've run when the site kept glitching and not allowing me to order. I finally got my $325 order and chose delivery, since some items were not available in the store. I get my box Friday evening, open it and there is nothing I ordered in the box. The stuff in the box is only worth $14 and wasn't even the complete order attached to the invoice inside my box.
Here it is Saturday and they claim to not be able to help me, that I need to first send their items back then they will process a new order for me. They guarantee I will receive the day before Christmas. I ask how is that possible if they aren't going to process this until they receive the items back? Welp, he hung up instead of answering the question. I contacted the guy whose items I received (his contact info was inside the box). He tells me, "No problem. Just keep it or trade it in." He said he contacted GameStop and they just replaced his missing items no return necessary. He came out on top with $325 worth of merch and his items which made him only out about 14 bucks...
If you're going to shop with them, I suggest going to the store or picking up at store. Also, use PayPal, the last time I used a card on their site my card info was stolen. At this point, the only way I can save Christmas for my son is go to the store and hope it's available... The products ordered were the only things he requested and he's such a sweet kid, he deserves to get them.

We cancelled our order before the release date, we got an email confirming our cancellation. Then magically when the release date came they took $100 dollars out of our account. We called immediately to tell them we had cancelled and can they please cancel it again and refund us. The wait was over an hour on the phone. When we got through, mind you the same day the order went through, they said it was too late to cancel because it had already been processed and shipped. The best we could do is wait for the package and then physically bring it to a store to return.
So weeks go by and online our order is sitting in processing. We have not received any tracking or shipping information. We call again, wait 35 minutes. The guy says sorry and that he will prioritize our shipping. So finally we get tracking and UPS is to deliver on a Thursday. My fiance had the day off and waiting for UPS. We get a notice that it has been delivered via email but yet no one knocked on the door or delivered it. Now, I know that is a UPS issue, however it took us 5 hours and 3 phone calls to get Gamestop to finally issue us a refund. The first two times they were refusing to talk to us because we could not verify our phone number, because they apparently had some random wrong phone number listed on our account. We finally logged in online and looked up the order to try and see what number they had. It was some random number neither of us recognized.
The wait times for customer service are ridiculous, hours long. The people are obviously in India or somewhere and have very little control over what they can actually do to help you. When I called them to inquire about my order the representative told me that toy is out of stock. I asked her how can it be out of stock and I not receive one when I pre-ordered it. She couldn't answer that question and couldn't even let me know when it will be back in stock because it falls on the manufacturer, Funko.
The problem isn't the manufacturer, it's Gamestop! They accept a large amount of demand for a product prior to even getting an idea of how much they will be getting of that product! When you pre-order a product it's because you are telling them company to hold that product for you on the day of it's released. It's a means to guaranteeing you get what you want to purchase! How can you accept pre-orders and not deliver on selling the product?!
To top it off they even charged me! They never got in touch with me to let me know it's out of stock, they have no clue when they will be receiving more of the product, they charged me for the product and I'm suppose to just sit around and wait until they find out. I was told that I couldn't cancel my order, or be refunded the $50 that I was overcharged. To add insult to injury, "upon reviewing your order, this order did not include a $35 eShop credit". Worst company ever. Gamestop loses another customer, but they don't care anyway. Take your business elsewhere, or risk being ripped-off.

I've tried calling several times within the last week but have been put on hold for more than an hour each time. I have stuff to do with my life, so I usually give up after the first hour of being on hold. Today I've been on the line for 1 hour and 36 minutes as I'm writing this, and it's starting to piss me off. I bought a switch on Cyber Monday with a 50 GS gift card and 35$ on the Nintendo Eshop. I was given an email about how they "would be shipped within the next day" and how "sorry Gamestop is about the delay" but this has not happened. Terrible customer service so far, I think I am just going to email them again.

My whole experience has been jaw dropping with this company. Just like these other reviewers, I have been lied to, hung up on and spent many hours on hold just to talk to another person that I can barely understand. I placed an order on Nov 22rd. Red Dead PS4 pro bundle. Came with $50 gift card. Next day 23rd I get an email stating bank declined card. Called the bank had them take the fraud alert off my card. Then called GameStop. The lady said everything was good to go. The order was going to process. The next couple days I would check the online status and it would still say Processing...
Finally got a hold of someone the 29th and they said it was canceled! Wait... What? Ok. So they cancelled my order. But there was a $50 charge on my account from them that same day they cancelled the order. I asked what that was for then. He said it was for the digital gift card they sent me. I said so the gift card you sent me is still good? There’s still $50 on it. They guy tells me, yes sir we don't cancel gift cards. Well guess what? I found out the next day. He was full of **! It's got a zero balance! So already they stole $50 dollars from me. Blows my mind!
But wait. It gets better... So while I was on the phone with that guy. He told me he would put in another order. Plus he would give me free two day shipping. That was on the Dec. 3. I was finally relieved thinking everything was going to work out. Was going to wait till I got this console then I would proceed about the $50 dollars they stole from me. Baby steps...
So Dec. 4 I get an email from them saying order is on hold because the bank declined my order. Seriously... we're doing this again??? I call my bank. They said it's not a fraud hold that they removed that last week. This time was the expiration dates on the card not matching up. Wow... So not only are they hard to understand. Evidently we are too. So I called GameStop again! Got some women she had no idea what was going on. I asked to talk to somebody higher up. She transferred me. I thought alright now we are gonna get somewhere... Guy picks up the phone and I proceed to fill him in. When I heard a clicking noise! Yep he hung up on me!!
At this point I don't even know what to do or where to go with this. Every number I find goes right back to the same people I've been dealing with. And they just hang up when you tell them that they took money from you. It blows my mind reading all these reviews that they are doing it to a lot of us. And I'm sure there are so many more that we don't even hear about. It makes sick to my stomach that a company like GameStop can steal $50 dollars from you at Christmas and there is nothing you can do about it. That money could be going towards my kids Christmas!!!

I am so disappointed right now, I ordered 2 items online that are supposed to be new. One of the items was opened, and the other wasn't even in the box. After reading that some orders are send in multiple shipments, I tracked my order and it's delivered. Main reason for buying online is convenience, and this is anything but. The box it was shipped in didn't look tampered with at all. I went to my local Gamestop today and was told he can order a new product to replace the one I got that was clearly used even though it was purchased new. As for the missing item he told me to call to address the missing item.
I got home called the number only to get the message the queue is over 2 hrs long, so I opted for a callback. When I finally got to speak with someone it was a woman whose Indian accent was so thick I had to keep asking her to repeat herself. When I explained my situation she told me she would have to have UPS track the package even though I explained that I received the 1 of 1 package. There is no missing package, but that my order wasn't filled. She must have put me on hold over 20 times, so I asked to speak with someone else. I gave her my order number and she gave me 5 different items, none of which I had ordered. She couldn't find my order at all. After an hour, I asked to speak to someone else and I got hung up on! I called again the next day and the guy who answered found my order in 5 minutes and advised that there was a hold on my order that he was going to remove so my order could be processed.
The next day I received the gift card via email which showed a $0 balance. I was getting nervous but decided to give it some time. The next day, it showed a balance of $50 which was much better. After a few days of seeing the Nintendo Switch order go from "OPEN" to "PROCESSING" and reading all these horrible reviews, I decided to call GameStop to follow up again. But also said that I should expect a reply from a representative within 24-48 hours.
After I failed to get any additional response from that email for a couple of days, I called the customer support line and was informed that the order was in 'processing' and so *no* information whatsoever could be changed - they refused to cancel the order, too. Funny thing is it's not even the same order number as Mario Party. I get worried that my game won't arrive so I call tech support and the first time I wait for about an hour and get kicked off the line before speaking with anyone. I try calling a little while later, even though they said it would be a 15 minute wait I was kept waiting for an hour and a half.
When I finally talked to someone they seemed clueless to what I was talking about for the first 5 minutes and then asked for the card name and order name and even though the order and everything was placed in my name because I used my girlfriend's card to buy it they refused to tell me anything unless she was on the phone. She was at work so it was impossible to do this but they did not care even though everything else was under my name and we share the same address.
After this I asked to speak to a supervisor but he said the supervisor was there already telling him what to say! All he said after this was the supervisor had told him that red flags appeared and he just kept saying, "I'm sorry but I can't assist you any longer," over and over. So now I'm left wondering if my game is coming or if I'll get a refund for it and if I want to try to call them again it will have to be the only day my girlfriend has off since she works during the day most of the week and we'll need to sit there for an hour and a half again to have customer service treat us like we don't matter.
If anyone on this website is even thinking about ordering from Gamestop online don't do it. I asked him, "If I buy this upgrade will I get three days Early access (be able to play game on the 11th) plus the legends edition content." He said, "Yes, as long as you have the base game." I said, "Yes I pre-ordered the Base game from the PS store a few days ago." He said, "Then yeah you’d get early access." So I paid in full and the employee said, "Come back tomorrow night (Monday 9/10) at 6 pm to get your code so you can play when the game releases (Tuesday 12 am/ET)."
So I return Monday night and another employee prints out my receipt with a -2 digit code to use on the store. Again I'm ensured I’ll be able to play in three hours. So I get home and punch in the code - it says confirmed. Great the code worked. I check my installed game on my PS4 XMB and it still has a countdown timer or 2 days plus. I'm like that’s weird but just think maybe it will override it at 9 pm.
Just before 12 am ET/9 pm PT Monday and I'm on Party chat with my friends on PS4 waiting for the game to unlock. The timer still hasn’t changed on my game (still hasn’t changed from 2 days). Now I'm a bit nervous and feel that something isn’t right. Turns out it isn’t. 9 pm - my friends launch their game and it works no problem. Mine won't start still says pre-order. Even though under add-ons it says “Deluxe Edition” installed. I call EA and they say just to be patient and give it time and wait until Tuesday. I say ok. Tuesday, early morning I tweet at EAHelp and a couple hours later I get a reply. The person I talked via DM on twitter was very helpful and said it could be a code error or wrong code and advised I talk to GameStop but that maybe Sony Chat could help.
I decided to contact Sony Playstation Support by Phone as GameStop wasn’t open yet. Spoke with Sony Phone rep who was very help and tried all the troubleshooting steps (uninstalling, deleting and reinstalling game, restoring licenses, etc.) she could think of but nothing worked. She said that there was nothing else she could and advised that I was out of luck because Playstation doesn’t provide refunds on pre-orders. I replied ok. She apologized for not being able to help and again stated (unsolicited) that they don’t provide refunds on pre-orders. During the phone support call she had me try and download the game from my account from store via website to PS4, but I kept getting a download error. She said that was an EA issue.
So I called EA and the advisor was also confused as to why my game was locked. He worked with a Game Specialist and said if I was having a download issue to call Sony back. I told him Sony said it was EA’s issue. He said no it was on Sony’s end. So about 10 am I decide to try Gamestop and go back into my local store and spoke to the only employee there and he was very nice provides me with a new code saying maybe the code was defective but I should get the early access. I get home and decide that I should just check with Sony PlayStation just in case something was missed, before I input the new code.
So I called Sony and got a very rude woman who said after reviewing my previous phone call that she would not go through the troubleshooting steps again because they won't work because the code only granted me access to the content and early access and that the new code wouldn’t work either. I said that's not what GameStop said, I asked to speak to a supervisor to provide feedback. I'm transferred to a supervisor who was very helpful and confirmed that the code GameStop sold only provided me content and not three days early access. I said that was weird and he suggested talking to GameStop again.
So I hopped back into my car and the employee that helped me was still there. Told him the day I've been through and he was very helpful and said that yeah maybe the code only for the content and not early access. He was helpful but said with codes not anything he could do - he tried but the system wouldn’t let him refund it. I told him it wasn’t really about the money it was more about being told more than once Id get early access and the not getting it. So I slog home disappointed.
I wake up Wednesday and later that day find out that someone else I know online got the base game and the upgrade edition code from GameStop and is playing early. So I'm like something is missing here. Why am I being denied early access (which is now almost over as game releases on Friday at 12 am ET aka 9 pm PT on Thursday for me). I press on...
I called my local GameStop and explained to him the issues I've been having. He checks his system and says “Yeah looks like the code requires the base game”. I tell him I have the base game - got it from the PS Store last week. He says that's weird and suggests I call GameStop Customer Service, as they have more power than he does at the store.
So I call GameStop Customer Service and after almost an hour on hold I get a Rep who is helpful and gathers the information and keeps coming back from putting me on hold to get more information. Finally he comes back and says that he found out the issue - I need to buy the Base Game AND Upgrade Edition at Gamestop in order to get early access. He said since I purchased the game at the PlayStation store and the code at GameStop that I only qualify for the content and not early access. I said that's not what the GameStop store said. He apologized and said if he had a code he’d give me one but he didn’t and there was nothing he could do to remedy the situation. I said, "I would like to speak to a supervisor," and he said they’d give me the same information. I said, "I'd still like to speak to supervisor." So he transferred me.
I explained to the supervisor that I was unhappy and disappointed that there were multiple chances to inform me of the correct information and that if I had received that prior to purchase I may have decided not to purchase if I was told I would not get early access. He apologized and he didn’t have any power to do anything and said all he could do is relay information to the District Manager of my local GameStop. I said will the employee I spoke to on the phone said he didn’t have any power either. The supervisor apologized but reiterated he had no power other than to provide information to the store’s DM. I said, "Yes, please send it."
I was calm but firm in my calls and only once got a little fluster with EA Advisor only because he kept interrupting me. Inside I was seething. Not about early access, that's really only part o the issue. The bigger issue is being sold something then not getting it because of incorrect information. So I took a little bit to cool off, and then decide I should write a short review on the product page just giving people a heads up that if you purchase the NHL Legends Edition Upgrade you must have purchased the game itself at GameStop as well or you won't receive three days early access. I get an email early Thursday from GameStop saying that they have decided not publish my review as it doesn’t meet their guidelines. Me: Lol, of course.
Here is that review: "Just a tip to people interested in this as a potential upgrade to the Legends Edition - even though the standard game is almost out now. This will only get you early access IF you purchased the Base game at Gamestop or on Gamestop.com. If you Purchased the Standard Edition on the PS Store, purchasing this Upgrade will only provide you access to the content and not early access. Just want to make sure people know since the store I went to confirmed I would get early access if I had the base game even if I bought the game on PS Store and the Upgrade Code at Gamestop."
I never had an issue with GameStop before this and the employees at my local store are really nice and helpful. It was miscommunication that created this issue that could have been avoided with the following: Employee: "Just to let you know, if you didn’t purchase the game here at GameStop, then this NHL 19 Legends Edition Upgrade will give you the content from Legends Edition but not the three days early release. Do you still want to purchase this?” It also would have avoided GameStop potentially losing a customer because they seem to refuse to make me, the customer happy. If they do end up making it right, I’ll update this review, but them refusing to post the review, while within their rights as it's their website just infuriated me and brought me post here.

I have been almost 2 months in working with Gamestop on an issue. I never received an item that I had paid for and they have offered to refund my money via e-Gift card. It's been over 3 weeks since I was offered the e-gift card and have not heard back. I am not sure who runs their Customer Service at that organization but they obviously do not care. Will never make a purchase from Gamestop again.
