I received as a birthday gift, a Martha Stewart Patio glass top table set. The name of the set is Victoria. I had the set 3 or 4 years. The top of the table completely shattered and broke into a million pieces. Thank God, no one was even on the patio when it happened or someone would have been badly hurt. My daughter was home working on her computer, when she heard a crash. She went to search out the sound and found it came from outside on the patio. This happened for no reason. No one was outside at the time, the weather was mild, around 84,the table was inside a screened in porch.

Two Martha Stewart Patio glass tables shattered into millions of pieces, out of the blue. Tables have always been brought indoors during winter months and used only in summer, and just spontaneously shattered.

Four of us (including my 7 year old son and 5 year old daugher) were eating lunch at our Marth Stewart glass picnic table when it suddenly exploded and shattered into many pieces. Everything just fell to the ground and there was glass pieces everywhere. We all had pieces of glass all over our legs and when we stood up, our legs began to bleed. We all had a number of cuts and scrapes all over our legs, and my 5 year old daughter received the most amount of cuts. The glass shattered into what seemed to be millions of small pieces for no apparent reason. This is a very dangerous situation that can cause serious injury to anyone that has to deal with the shattering glass.

Came home to a shattered table with NO evidence of anything hitting it! To my surprise when I went online to look up for a replacement glass for it, I found ALL these complaints from happening to people before me. I will not be replacing the GLASS with glass on my table, being that from what I read on it, it would probably happen again. PLUS, I do not want my family exposed to that kind of DANGER!

I could not believe how bad it was - not only were family members arriving in 10 minutes - but there was glass EVERYWHERE.. After reading these complaints - it seems as if there was a calculated time period when all these tables got destroyed.

My mother-in-law purchased 2-years ago, a Marth Stewart patio furniture set. The glass top exploded in her backyard. The exloding glass landed in my hair, in her flower beds and all through out her lower concrete patio. When she contacted K-Mart (the seller) they acted as if they knew nothing about the expolding tempered glass. I have since printed the information and have suggested she hand deliver the information to the store manager in hopes they will assist in the replacement of the glass top.

I, too, bought a Marth Stewart glass top table. We used it for two years, even moved it from state to state without any problems until one day a load noise came from our barn. Our etched glass top table had broken into a million little pieces without being touched!!!

I went out to my patio and was shocked to see my table top in a million pieces, all over my patio floor. I had no Idea how to clean up this mess as I am 75 years old and somewhat handicapped. I was fortunate enough to have some young boys offer to clean it up for me, but now I have no table. I paid $600 for this set and that was when I was still working. Now I live on social security and I cannot afford to replace this glass. Does anyone out there have any suggestions? Please tell me what to do.

This is just another incident of a JRA glass patio table top spontaneously exploding. This was a Martha Stewart brand sold through K-Mart. It lasted about five years and then just exploded yesterday 7/9/08.

Last year I was under the glass patio table sliding the base over a little bit and all of a sudden the whole glass table shattered on top of me. I was home alone and was scared that I might be cut too bad to get help. I managed to get up out of all the glass. I was cutall over and had some glass enbedded in my skin. I purchased this set in 2000. In 2003 our glass shattered for no apparent reason. Since the Kmart in our location had closed, I contacted the Kmart in LA. They did still carry the collection, however the color had changed. The woman at the store agreed to give me a new table top. Since it did not match our table my husband and I took the frame off and put ours on the glass.

On July 4, 2008 before people started to arrive for our barbecue, I went outside and my patio table was shattered. This also happened to my mother in law's table last year. The weather was only 75 degrees and we had a nice breeze. This glass table should not have shattered. I have reported this to Kmart Customer Care and I am not happy about it. I too bought an outdoor set consisting of a glass top table and four chairs in 2004. The glass top shattered for what seemed like no reason while I was taking an umbrella out of the center of the table in 2007. We have a patio set from the Martha Stewart collection with a tempered glass top. It is approximately 4 or 5 years old. The entire top of the table just collapsed into itself and shattered into thousands of pieces for no apparent reason or cause. The temperature is only about 70 degrees and nothing hit it. This is another complaint among many of the dangers associated with the glass top of Martha Stewart Patio Furniture. What I thought was an isolated incident, I've since learned is another case of Martha Stewart glass patio tops exploding into shards of glass. I find it unconscionable to know that the store continues to market this furniture despite the plethora of complaints citing the same incident.

We purchased a Martha Stewart table, at the end of Summer in 2005, for approx $400. One evening, in May of 2006, my family heard a loud crash outside. We went out to our back deck & there was just shattered glass, where there was once a table.

The top is secured to the aluminum frame with a series of clamps that use two cross-tip screws each. What may be happening is that as the glass and the metal frame heat up during the day they expand at different rates, causing one to pull against the other. I loosened up each one of the clamp screws until the clamps just slip around a bit. This does not appear to affect the stability of the top, at least on the frame I purchased (bloomington collection). I accept no responsibility for any trouble you might incur from employing this suggestion, expressed or implied, it is simply what I did on my own table.

My mother (who lives in the house on the property next to me) heard the noise from her porch, and came over to my house to investigate the noise. She was shocked when she discovered the mess on my porch! Thank goodness no one was sitting at the table when it happened! But WHAT A MESS!

July 10, 2008 at 10:15 p.m. I was inside the house and heard a loud WHISH sound and had no idea what it was. When I went to investigate, I found our Martha Stewart glass top patio table shattered all over our concrete patio. The next morning, I shuffled through the tiny glass pieces and found nothing which could have caused the table to break. I mentioned this to a friend and he told me about the class action suit with K-Mart over these glass top tables. We purchased a complete set (table, 6 chairs and umbrella) in 2003 when the K-Mart in LaFayette, GA was going out of business. We only used the umbrella once when we first bought the set and have kept it stored in the basement ever since.

I purchased the Santa Barbara Dining Collection Set back on 05/21/2006. We used it all of that summer, and it was covered over the winter to be used again the following spring. Little did we know that we would not be enjoying the table for long. In September of 2007 we heard a tremendous crash outside, when we got to our deck we realized that our barely 1 1/2 year old table had just shattered. I was shocked to read everyone else's complaints regarding the same thing and that these products are still on the market and not recalled. Luckily, noone was the near the table when it exploded. After cleaning up the shattered glass all over my deck and below the deck where my dog likes to hang out, my husband and I noticed that the center of the table's construction is higher than the sides, so of course, a flat piece of glass would break. Glass flew as far away as 10 feet..hundreds of pieces. My husband's hands and legs were cut by flying pieces. It took a very long time to clean up, especially on a deck. We had to vacuum in between the boards to suck out the small pieces. After sweeping and vacuuming the area, we damp mopped the boards because of the extremely tiny pieces still left on the boards. you could see them glistening in the sun.

We bought a 7 piece Martha Stewart patio set and late last summer the table top exploded into a million pieces. I called a glass company and they said it will cost $280.00 to replace the glass! There were small pieces of glass everywhere. It took over an hour to pick up all the tiny pieces. We are still finding them.

This purchase was not inexpensive. I looked at several different retailers and thought I was getting the best for my money. To pay over $500 for a table and chairs that is now useless to me is very difficult. Their customer service 800 number is a joke. They tell you there is a high call volume, no kidding seeing how their products are useless, and then disconnect you. The online link they give in their printed material either does not exist or has changed and you can't contact these people. I don't know what I'm supposed to do.

Work was being done on my street including blasting. My table was fine one minute, and ten minutes later I went out back and the table was shattered all over the patio. Collection states steel frames prevent rust - not true, all pieces have areas of rust. Also, fabric on chairs/lounge chairs have ripped after very limited use. It will cost approx $36 per chair and more to replace lounge chairs which I understand is impossible to do since they were originally put together by machine.

The chairs, the deck was covered in glass, and it also fell thru the cracks of the deck and over the side of the deck into the kids sand box and a loose rock and flagstone walkway under the deck. What a mess!!! After the inital shock, it took me 4 hours to clean the mess. I had to use a shopvac and move every single rock out of the way to suck up the glass that had fallen through.

These tables should be recalled and payment should be made to the many individuals that purchased these tables. I still have the frame and this table should be replaced by KMart. I would be interested in participating in a class action lawsuit in this matter. Thank you for anything you can do to help.

About 3 years ago I purchased a Martha Stewart Patio Set including a table with lazy susan, matching chairs, chaise lounges and coffee table. Last July the glass on the coffee table just shattered when no one was near it and nothing was on it, when I complained to the store I was basically called a liar and told that atble was on sale.
