We purchased the Martha Stewart Garden Victoria collection outdoor furniture 7pcs for 428.72 on June 29, 2002. We protect the furniture each winter season, but this past year in December before Christmas our 54 inch glass table exploded in a million pieces all over our patio. Luckily our 3 year old and 14 month old were not around during the explosion. No one was home.

My complaint is that replacement glass for the table is $200. Why would a table shatter into many small pcs without cause.....unless it was defective. If the glass was defective I expect the manufacturer to warrant the product and replace the glass free of charge.

I will never purchase a Martha Stewart product again. I will spread the word. Kmart should also have some consideration to their loyal customers and offer replacement glass at no charge. This is a dangerous situation and should be sent to the CPSC, which I intend to do.

I have one of Martha Stwart Living Table and 6 chair sets. My glass top shattered into a million pieces last summer. My 1 and 4 year old were playing near by and I about died as the crashing sound scared us all! I thought we were being shot at! Not to mention my umbrella pole broke in half last summer on a light windy day...NOT a STORM just a BREEZE! I have tried to replace the glass but the cost seems to be as much as a new table if not more! Kmart told me theres nothing they can do.

To this day I am still finding glass several feet away from the tables location. My 1 yr old stepped on a piece just last week! This is crazy that they are still being sold!

We purchased 2 Martha Stewart patio furniture sets from KMART in 2002; one large table with chairs and a taller bar set with chairs. Both sets have glass tops and the one issue we had is with the glass top on the bar set. The top consists of 4 seperate glass sections and one of the sections shattered. I have been looking around for a replacement piece of glass but have had no luck. I just noticed that there is aparently an issue with the type of glass used so I think I may be out of luck getting it replaced.

I hate to waist valuable resources, but if a replacement is not available what can I do.

I own a Martha Stewart Pation Set we purchased in 2004. In the summer of 2006 the table top shattered into a million of pieces all over our deck. I have researched the patio sets and have seen that this has been a major problem. I was very disappointed to find out that Martha Stewart does not stand behind her product.

The reason we had purchased a Martha Stewart patio set was because of the cost. We had saved the money so we could purchase the table. We do not have the money to replace the glass at $200 plus shipping for a product that is unreliable. I am thankful that when outside that my family and pets did not get hurt from all the glass.

We brought it out of storage the next day we hear what sounded like a mini explosion and we go out and the glass on the lazy susan on top of the table has shattered into a million pieces and actually exploded all over the deck. A few years after purchase, the Martha Stewart patio table exploded for no reason. The glass continued to keep shattering, making popping noises as it did so. Two days later, the lazy susan part of this table also exploded.

Also, the fabric on the chair cushions and sun umbrella deteriorate quickly when exposed to any sunlight at all, and the metal rusts so it has left rust marks on our painted deck. I contacted the K-mart, and the salesperson said she had never had any complaints before and offered only to replace the table with another one, as if I want another exploding table!

When I called K-Mart they asked me a lot of questions and told me they would forward the information to the manufacturer who would contact me in about 5 days. The girl on the phone said please hold on while I connect you with a supervisor. A man came on the phone and told me his name was Nick and asked me what he could do for me. I explained everything again. He didn't say a word and I kept saying hello, hello, but I got nothing. I then said I know your there Nick, I can hear voices in the background. I understand you've received many complaints about this already (I read your article from a couple months ago), I just wanted to add to the list so this problem receives wider attention. It is absolutely absurd that Kmart and other stores continue to sell this furniture when these problems have been going on for years. This table was purchased some time in 1998, so it lasted a good while, but that doesn't excuse the negligence of the manufacturer and retailers of this product.

Shards of glass splayed across the porch floor. Luckily, no one was hurt (other than pricked by glass while cleaning up). But we did have one of our cats out on the porch when it happened, and she could have easily gotten hurt or even killed had she been sleeping under the table at the time (as she often does).

I have been in contact with JRA Furniture Industries since May 25 2006 regarding the horrific and continually deteriorating condition of the chair frames, cushions, and umbrella fabric. I replaced all cushions within the first 10 months of ownership and complained to the Kmart manager. His response was that this was a common problem and that he wasn't surprised at the condition at all. He gave me phone numbers to call to file complaints.

After contacting JRA Industries, I was instructed to send in photos of the damage. After about a month of waiting I was told that I was entitled to replacements if I agreed to pay the est. $170 in shipping fees. I agreed. I was then told to call back at the first of August 06 because all cushions and replacement paint were on backorder...I'm not surprised!

I called today, 8-02-06, as instructed by Percy, only to be told by Brittany that I was no longer entitled to said replacements...that I was no longer under warranty...we had already established that fact in May, which I was told was not an issue considering the rapidly deteriorating conditions and the fact that I had already absorbed total replacement costs once. I was hung up on and then after calling back told that I would have to wait for a return call from Percy. So far nothing... I read on this site about the shattering glass and now have that to worry about as well. If it shatters, I will have certain damage to my pool liner and if my children are present, they could be injured as well. I worry because I have noticed stress lines or cracks in the glass for some months now and wondered if that was warning of something getting ready to let go, so to speak.

Within the first summer we came home and the glass was shattered into tiny pieces. Since there were no trees or hazards around the table we assumed the glass was not tempered properly and called Kmart. They were nice and checked to see if there was another table in stock. They gave us another table with no question. I presented some of the glass for proof.

Within the next six months I was at home and heard a huge crash and went outside. The second table had shattered into tiny pieces as the first one did. We knew that the time limited had expired and at that point the furniture was out of season and gave up trying to get another table. At this point we do not have any of the glass but do have both empty table frames. We have had other problems other than the glass on the furniture including enamel pealing to expose rust and the umbrella metal framing breaking in a way that left the umbrella un-usable. It was our intention to have a new piece of glass cut but could not due to the cost and construction of the table.

Since we could not replace the first table we decided to rebuild and tile a new table top using the existing frame. We knew this would be safter in the long run. We spent multiple hours cleaning and disposing of the million small pieces in our yard and deck from both tables. We also spent 25+ hours creating a new table top so that we would not lose the total set. This included purchasing, creating, and cleanup of the materials used on the set.

We were in our home and heard an odd noise in the backyard. My husband and I went outside to see what it was and found our Martha Stewart bar top shattered. All of it appeared to be chunks of glass but when we began to pick it up we both had tiny slivers of glass in and on our fingers and hands. It was very painful. This happened about 6 weeks ago and we are still finding glass in our yard. We are afraid to let our children play anywhere near that area. They have had to do summer activities such as playing on their sprinkler and slip-n-slid in our neighbor's yard.

My husband heard it from inside our house. We bought the set for $319.77 on 3/15/05. It just makes me sick to think what could have happened if my grandchildren had been nearby, especially my 6-month old grandson who would have been in his infant carrier at eye-level.

My husband suffered some minor cuts during the clean-up. There is also glass in the garden soil nearby, which is a concern. The table is ruined, as far as I'm concerned. We'll have to try to replace the top but I think a new glass top will cost too much.

Which is quite startling as I have had to replace my glass top twice and the center ring that hold the umbrella, as when the glass shattered the umbrella which is contained in it's own iron stand would also break the ring that support the table legs. I have had to purchase both items which are not as you would realize cheap and now am having to do the same thing again. My husband and I received a Martha Stuart Patio Furniture Set for a wedding gift 5 years ago. I was sitting outside talking to a friend when the glass table top shattered in a million pieces. My dog yelped because he was sleeping underneath the table when it happened. I was not on the porch but facing the table as I sat in my backyard. As I said,I was on the phone with a friend and screamed when it happened.

My husband and I were trying to figure out what had happened. There was nothing on top of the table, nothing had hit it, there were no cracks in it. We were baffled. It took us about 4 hours to clean up the glass and I am still finding glass after a month. It wasn't until we were watching the news last night that we found that others are having the same problems. Fortunately my two-year-old son was napping when this all happened. We sat at this table everyday in the summer to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner. So, I am thankful it happened when it did. Needless to say, we went out and bought a table that didn't have a glass top. I feel these tables should be taken off the market. Had my son and I been sitting at the table when this happened, I would have been even more angry.

At approximately 12:30 PM, my Martha Stewart glass tabletop exploded. I and my cousin Linda from Baltimore, Maryland were sitting in the living room at my cottage at the lake, when the glass top table exploded and I saw the whole incident from the picture window. I surmised that the result was some type of molecular action. The glass top came from the center and formed like a mushroom blast from a bomb and then came down and crashed after it exploded. It did not lift like a smooth flat piece of glass on a plain. I have never seen such a sight before. The patio deck where the table sits is not directly exposed to sunlight as our deck has a roof and in no way is exposed to direct sunlight. Linda thought someone was shooting and was ready to grab my arm to hit the deck or floor. Remember she is from Baltimore!!

If someone were seated anywhere on our deck, you would have been hit by the shrapnal of flying glass. The glass even hit the picture window of our cottage. There were glass fragments all over and was very difficult to sweep up as my husband also used a shovel besides a broom. It was embedded in the cushions of the chairs in small slivers. We hosed the deck down with water and it keeps coming out of the wood. Then he proceeded to scrub it with a brush and water and of course had glass twice in his hand. there are still fragments of shatterred glass. I was shocked to find this being such a problem already in existence and yet posing such a threat and danger to people. Something NEEDS to be done!

We had purchased a Martha Stewart patio table (6 sided with a leaf pattern in it), 6 chairs and umbrells in the spring of 2001. We left the table and chairs outside all year round. It has seen very hot temperatures, snow, an inch sheet of ice on top for more than a week, high winds, etc. It has been in the same spot on our brick patio for the past 5 years and is used all the time. It held up very well.

The evening after leaving for vacation, my mother called me (who was watching over the house for us) to say that the glass had crashed straight down into thousands of pieces -- none more than an inch square but mostly the size of a tiny pea. She could not see anything that would have landed on it to break it. After returning home it is exactly as she described. There has been some rust on the mesh chairs only where the metal connecting parts are but it is not very noticeable. We have just started to clean up and it is taking awhile as some of the shards are in and in between the pavers in the patio. Hope that the shop-vac helps with this.

Thought I would check online for a replacement top or table- WOW am I ever surprised at how many problems there were with these tables. Suppose it makes me feel better knowing that we did get 5 years of use out of it compared to some others who have had their glass break very quickly. I have ridded myself of guilt for leaving it outside and uncovered through the elements for all these seasons- it doesn't seem to have mattered based on what I've read in others complaints. We have enjoyed the set. Don't think I will purchase another Martha Stewart set until the problems with these can be rectified.

In June of 2002, we purchased Martha Stewart's "Victorian" Outdoor Furniture for our summer shore house. A Table with a lazy susan, five chairs, umbrella, two rockers, and a 2/3 person swing. This past January (2006), I received a call from our neighbor down the shore (we live in Philadelphia) that our "table exploded". She stated there was a loud "pop" and she look over at our deck and the table top was in a million pieces.

That weekend my husband and I drove down to find the table top shattered all over our deck. It took up close to 2 hours to clean up. I have pictures, if you would like to see. And just this past summer (2005) all the cushions are falling apart. We take the cushions in when we are not there - as soon as you touch a cushion it starts to shred in to pieces. I believe we still have the receipt and this funiture was well in excess of $800.00.

We purchased a Martha Stewart Victoria Patio set with a table and 5 chairs and the umbrella. We spent $500 and expected this to last for a very long time. I don't know what else to do. K-Mart has had no answers for me and I have contacted Martha stewart and they have told me that they do not have any cushion that would fit this set.

After 1 year the umbrella material shredded apart and we had to replace it. Because this is an extra large set it was very expensive to replace this umbrella. As if that was not costly enough now all the seat cushins have dry rotted and the material is completly shredded I have not been able to replace them because of the size. They are not a standard size. So I have hade to buy beach towels to cover them so we can at least use the set. I thought I was investing wisley but I guess I was wrong.

To my awful surprise, I noticed my tempered glass table top from my patio table had shattered and was some of the broken pieces was still popping and cracking. We purchased the entire set, the table with chairs, the chaise lounge, 2 rocking chairs, a seatee and the little top with glass on it also (am I to fear that this will shatter also). Even if my furniture is on our patio and not subject to the elements, the paint has peeled. Our son purchased the same table and chairs and his was on some direct sun and it also peeled. I purchased the Martha Stewart Victorian Style Patio Furniture in the spring of 2004 and when I took it out of Storage during the summer of 2005, I noticed many small tears in the cushions and the metal was starting to flake. Now this spring, as I am getting my patio ready, I noticed that the cushions aren't usable as they are falling apart. Most of the rips are located on the very top of the cushions of the backrests. The metal continues to flake and now is rusting. I have not been able to find replacement cushions. I have read through the series of complaints and am surprised at the numbers.

My table has not shattered as of this date, however I am leery of using it as I don't want anyone to get hurt. I payed well over $500.00 for this set and thought I was getting good quality merchandise, apparently I was wrong. I have asked about this table set at a local KMart and was told that there is nothing that can be done as my warranty was up.

I spent over $500.00 on patio furniture that basically is useless because of its defects Which apparently the manufacturer and the representatives were aware of.

My parents bought my husband and me a Martha Stewart patio set as a wedding shower gift in June. We set it all up in mid-August when we finally moved into our house. By the end of August, the table shattered. We had the table up for about 2 weeks. There was a rain storm that night but it was not capable of shattering a table!

I did not call customer service for several months because I figured it would be more aggrivation and ultimately a dead end. I was right! One lady told me that if we were able to produce a receipt and name of the model we had, she could give me a replacement price. I then spoke to the manager who said she would replace my table but not the glass if I could produce a receipt and the exact date of the explosion so she could check the weather!! I WAS TOLD THAT "I MUST BE LYING BECAUSE NEVER IN HISTORY HAS A TABLE JUST EXPLODED WITHOUT IT BEING THE CUSTOMER'S FAULT!!" After reading other complaints, I am boiling!

The joints of the table and chairs rusted not long after they were purchased and the paint chips easily. The fact that the glass shattered for no reason is the final straw. He ran outside and saw our table, completely shattered. There was no plausible explanation. The kids were indoors and we could not find anything that may have caused the table to shatter the way it did.

We spent in excess of $500 for our set. It's less than a year old. We invested in a 4 chair/table glass set & also the rather pricey canopy. We have had the set out in summer and in for fall & within the first year have rust on all chairs where they are welded. Also, the center hole in the glass table has a plastic ring and the mold that has gathered under it is horrible from it getting wet underneath.

The entire set was covered when inclement weather came with plastic covers we bought separate. Further, the poles that hold the canopy together have also rusted at the joints. Not too impressed with this and entertaining is rather an eyesore now.
