We purchased the six piece Victorian collection by Martha Stewart patio dining set (included five chairs and a round, glass top table with lazy Susan) in 2000. Within months, the table and chairs had bubbles in the powder coating and were peeling. After several months, KMart finally agreed to replace the entire set. After almost a year, we received the new set. It has not worn well at all and I have had to replace the cushions as they tore easily and faded quickly. Today, I looked out the window to discover the entire table top shattered into thousands of little pieces of broken glass. There is no visible sign of anything striking the table causing it to break. The weather here today is moderate (80 degrees, no wind), so I am at a loss as to what happened.

My patio table spontaneously exploded this week. Fortunately, no one was using it at the time, but those millions of pieces are hard to get up. After reading about the fiasco on-line, we are not wasting time trying to get a replacement or refund, but we will certainly not buy such a table again. But right now we cannot replace it at all because we don't have a spare $500 to buy patio furniture on a regular basis. Even after a third vacuuming, there was one piece that ended up in my son's foot.

I purchased a Martha Stewart Victorian Patio set three years ago. I came home last Friday evening (Aug,27,2010) to find the glass completely shattered, and the turn table not broken at all. What an absolute mess to clean up! So what do you have to say for yourself Martha? The set as is totally unusable. What recourse do I have? The set was bought in better financial times and I can't replace it with anything right now.

I also owned the Martha Stewart everyday Victoria collection from Sears and experienced broken glass when returning home within two months of owning the set. When I returned from vacation on August 22, 2010, I went out on my deck to find that my Martha Stewart patio table was shattered into a million pieces. I looked all around to see if something could have caused the table to shatter in that many pieces; however, I did not find anything. The interesting thing is that the lazy susan did not shatter with the rest of the table.It took my husband and myself some time to clean it up especially since so many of the pieces were stuck between the deck boards. I am thankful that no one was home to be harmed by the glass.

I purchased a Martha Stewart Glass picnic table. Came home from work to find it shattered into a million pieces. My neighbor had the same table to find hers shattered a week later. There is obviously something wrong with these tables since there are a lot of complaints about the same thing happening on the internet. I am just thankful it did not happen when I was sitting at it two days earlier or when my son or dog was on the deck. I feel that there should be some restitution for this. This furniture is not cheap and we should not be out the money we spent on it.

On August 26, 2010, I looked out my dining room window at my deck and saw a mound of shiny material, not knowing what is was, I went out and the glass table top had shattered for no reason. I purchased a Martha Stewart Victoria glass top patio set a few years ago from Kmart in Boston. Last Saturday August 14,2010 the table top shattered with out warning. Nobody was near the table, we heard a loud bang and saw the glass just break into pieces and fall through the middle. The Lazy Susan did not shatter. I am very disappointed as the glass is very expensive and I can not pay for a replacement at this time. I feel that there should be some sort of restitution for this as these sets were very expensive. Thank God nobody was hurt. My parents purchased a Martha Stewart metal or glass patio table and chairs approximately two years ago. The glass top seems to have spontaneously shattered into a million small pieces on a hot summer day. (I have photos). I just learned that Kmart has known about the danger of these tables for years, but continued to sell them. Luckily, no one was next to the table when it shattered, leaving a pile of glass on my deck. I suffered minor cuts in my hands while trying to clean the mess up. I purchased a Martha Stewart living patio set, 802100P H series 100,000 BTU/HI001DPI ordered from Home depot online site, ***. I paid $755.99 for it. The chairs are dangerous. They have sharp plastic on the back of the chairs and if you just brush by them, they will cut or even leave a deep scratch. I have now a scar on my forearm and my father-in-law who is on Cuminton, brush by one of the chairs and the plastic cut his skin which bled for some time. Who designed these?

Glass top patio table imploded on Sunday July 5, 2010 while no one was around it. It seems I have read a lot of people complaining about KMart and Martha Stewart. Mine was not purchased at KMart nor was it a Martha Stewart product. What we all have in common are glass tops made in China instead of the good old USA.

We bought the Martha Stewart Mallorca 7 piece dining set and the Marrorca rectangular umbrella at our local Home Depot on May 6, 2010. We paid $728.69. On Saturday, July 3, we heard a loud crash and realized that the umbrella shattered the glass top, leaving glass pieces all over our 2nd story deck and under the deck. The weather was not threatening. I feel that the table with the glass top is defective and/or the umbrella should not be matched with that table.

I purchased Martha Stewart Outdoor bar and stool set in 2006. I just walked outside this morning, July 9, 2010, the right side panel glass top has shattered. Glass is everywhere. There is no sign of anything hitting the glass. I have taken several photos of the shattered glass and area around the bar. Someone needs to do something about faulty material being used. Glass everywhere. My dog has been walking in the glass and the swimming pool will need to be checked for glass also.

Luckily, neither my daughter or my small dog was on deck, which is their typical spot during the day. As a fan of Martha's show and a purchaser of her cookbooks, even I know that Martha Stewart/K-mart's ability to profit from the sale of these substandard products must come to an end.

The last time was this July 4th, with six young grandchildren sitting around it. Luckily, they all escaped with minor cuts. My elderly mother had a Martha Stewart table that shattered unexpectedly in May, 2010. It has been in a screened in porch. Luckily, no one was hurt. My sister went to clean up the lazy susan had dropped down into the middle of the glass mess. She picked that up to start cleaning and the lazy susan shattered in her hands also. I would think that someone should stop Martha Stewart from manufacturing these and make her pay a penalty. She benefited from the sale. She should pay people that have purchased her inferior products.

I, too, bought the Martha Stewart patio set in 2003. My set was on the porch, not in direct sunlight. I was in the yard watering flowers & I heard a terrible glass breakage only to find that my oval table glass top had literally exploded. Glass flew all over my porch and barley missed me. I confronted K-Mart And even took pictures of all the glass. I was told they could do nothing about it. I even submitted a complaint on the Martha Stewart website, but I never was contacted. I am very disappointed in K-Mart & Martha Stewart products!

I was walking my dog as I do every morning @ 08:30, and when I was passing my next door neighbors' home I heard a "loud crack." Knowing my neighbor was out of town, I went to investigate in his back yard thinking someone may have broken in to his home through his sliding glass door. Nothing! I continued on the walk, returned home about 09:45 and as I washed my hands at the kitchen sink, I looked out the window to our deck, and there it was. The crack was my patio set table top in thousand of shards of glass. No one was injured, thankfully.

On July 4, 2010, I returned home to find my husband and brother amid thousands of glass shards on our covered patio deck. What a way to celebrate the holiday! The large bottom glass of the 54" lazy Susan table had exploded. Luckily, no one was injured. We have had the table and 5 chairs since purchasing it from K-Mart in California in 2003. It was never exposed to direct sunlight and survived our move from CA to MI. It's unconscionable that Martha Stewart and K-Mart have collectively ignored the hundreds of complaints that continue to amass!

My husband and I purchased a Martha Stewart 7 piece round glass with Lazy Susan patio table set in 2002. When the table was delivered, the glass was broken in the box, but K-mart did deliver another with no problem. On Friday, June 18, 2010, I returned home from work to find my Martha Stewart patio table had imploded into millions of pieces. Nobody had been on or near my patio table. I am a 65 years old woman who physically was forced to spend 2 days in the sweltering heat cleaning glass from my patio. I was forced to purchase a new table and matching chairs since I was expecting guests a week later.

There was nothing else disturbed and no explanation for the broken glass. This set had cost over $600.00 and was used one season. Fortunately, this occurred during the early morning hours. No one was near the table the time and there were no injuries.

I purchased the dining table from Martha Stewart's patio collection approximately two years ago. This afternoon I walked onto my patio, turned around (thank goodness) and the large octagon table spontaneously shattered. I bought a Martha Stewart 5 pieces Wellington patio set, set it up with an umbrella and one morning found the table top broken into thousands of pieces on my deck. The shattered glass table happened to me in the late summer of 2007. I purchased the outdoor dining set at my local Kmart in Bridgehampton (which is also Martha's local store). While I was out shopping for a dinner party, unknown to me, the tabletop had exploded, the umbrella fell through my kitchen window, broke the screen, toppled a vase which turned on my faucet, and flooded my kitchen. You can't make this up, and I have witnesses. I never knew what caused this until I came across this complaint site regarding the exploding tabletops. I had to buy a whole new table as it made no sense to replace the glass in the original. Additionally, my patio is bluestone and the glass pieces took weeks to pick out of all the cracks, a nightmare indeed.

My children purchased 11 pieces of a Martha Steward matching patio set from K-Mart. The table shattered, just like many others I have read about, for no apparent reason. I can't believe that I bought this poor excuse for a patio set. We purchased a 9-piece set of Martha Stewart Patio furniture and have had a lot of problems with it. The chase lounge popped most of its supporting bands with just a 180 pound adult sitting on it and my kids broke more. I had to drill sheet metal screws into the frame at each end of the supporting band just to hold an adult without breaking. The glass table top ended up being a faulty design because of a lack of support. It eventually shattered by being tipped on its side. This table would only survive under the most ideal circumstances. I also had the table on its side during assembly when I first got it. Clearly, the table had been weakened over time due to its large diameter with no center support. I am finally over Martha. What a witch.

No one was actually touching the table at the moment it shattered. There was no cause for this to happen (there was no umbrella used with table because it is under a covered porch and there was no wind). The glass is supposed to be a type of safety glass that breaks into pieces that won't cause as much injury, but that isn't the case here. It broke into those small cubes but it also created millions of little slivers of glass that cut all of our legs and feet. We hadn't even moved when it happened and we looked down and all of our legs and feet were bleeding. We have swept, vacuumed numerous times and are still getting those tiny slivers of glass in our feet.

This entire set was a very expensive set by Martha Stewart and I still have the entire set except for the glass. I had estimates to replace the glass but they want $180+. If there is a defect, I would like to know if something can be done about it.

I understand that several of us who purchased an expensive outdoor set made by Martha Stewart and sold at K mart until a few years ago have had the table glass explode and break. Mine happened last year and never knew how it happened or why. Very expensive to replace and my set is in excellent condition.

I bought a Martha Stewart 7 piece patio table and chairs with matching umbrella about 3 years ago. Last year, the button that controls the tilting of the umbrella popped off and could not be re-attached. After storing the set for the winter, we put it back out this month and the umbrella will only open in a vertical tilt which makes it unusable. It matches the chairs and I cannot find one to replace it anywhere. Boo! If we could replace it, it would run around $100.

I was in the yard on May 25, 2010 with my back to the covered porch where I have a Martha Stewart patio set from Kmart. I bought it over 10 years ago and it has been used indoors until a year ago when I put it on the patio. On May 25, 2010, I heard a crash of glass and turned to see the entire table top shattered and lying on the ground. My two dogs had been sleeping on the sofa in front of the table and were now scared and standing in the glass. My wife and I purchased a high top patio set from the Martha Stewart collection. It was kept indoors in the winter. We just had a new patio built on 5/2/10. We moved the table outside and the next day the glass top had mysteriously shattered into a million annoying pieces. I assumed something had hit it. That's what happen when you outsource your projects to third world countries and have some 11-year old manufacture the table for $.11 a week.

My Martha Stewart patio table glass also shattered in April 25, 2010, but the Lazy Susan was left in one piece. It seems odd that so many people have experienced the same problem. This is certainly a defect that should be dealt with as a recall. The fact that someone told a consumer the furniture can do this if left outside is ridiculous. Where else do you put the furniture, in the garage or the living room? I have kept the glass covered when not in use to keep it less exposed. Is there anything being done about a recall?

Our Martha Stewart's Victorian Collection patio dining table that we purchased at K-Mart in Simi Valley, CA in 2004 shattered in a million pieces. The La-Z-Boy piece stayed in one piece. I asked the customer service person if they had any other complaints and she said no. I thought I was the only one until I saw your website. They actually were going to sell me another one. When I called back to cancel my order, Ms. Rena told me that it only happens when you leave them outside. Well, it is outdoor furniture for heaven's sake! I cancelled my order. We paid about $400 for this set and know I am searching for a way to replace the table top with something that will be safe.

I too had to use a shop vac to get all of the pieces so that we don't cut our feet or our dog's paws. Very, very disappointing. I mean it when I say I won't buy any more of her products. The glass Lazy Susan in the middle of table is fine and is not broken. This table is one piece of a six piece outdoor dining set. I expected it to last much longer. In 2004, I also purchased seven other pieces of the set as well. Other than the rusting that occurred with several of these pieces (including the dining chairs) over the years, the rest of the pieces are intact. I must purchase another table this year if I want to enjoy outdoor dining with guests. This is a monetary setback that was not budgeted for nor expected. None of the Martha Stewart items will ever be purchased again. Goodbye matching set!
