Our 2 year old Martha Stewart Octagon Patio Table top shattered into a million pieces. Looks like it was blown over in a storm while we were away. My problem is that I'd like to replace the tabletop and do not know how to. I would even consider buying a new table but they are only sold with the chairs which I do not need. Two problems... dangerous situation with the glass shattering and also second, if this has been a problem as I have read, how come replacements are not available? Please help.

I purchased my set of Martha Stewart Charlottetown 5 piece set and was very happy with the look and comfort of the set. My Father told me I'd better spray the cushions to protect them and I said they are for outdoor use. Within 2 months they had bad fade marks on half of each cushion. My set sat under a large covered patio gazebo. The sun hit them just at the bottom half. They look terrible! I looked into getting new replacements but they are so expensive. Not happy and unless you put them out of the sun they don't last 1 summer season.

It seems like the same story over and over again with many customers who purchased the Martha Stewart Outdoor Furniture from Kmart. I have read all the complaints and to my surprise I am in the same situation. We purchased the complete set and the glass table top shattered the same way everyone has explained. The temperature today was 76 degrees and when I came home at 2:00 I found my table shattered. I am also very disappointed and it looks like there is no help for any of us.

I went on my deck this morning and everything was fine. That afternoon when I returned home, we got a torrential rain storm. I looked out the door to check on my newly constructed gazebo and noticed a tremendous amount of glass on the deck. I looked up and saw the whole table top had completely shattered and glass was everywhere. It took me and my husband hours to sweep all the glass. I had multiple glass shards in my foot but thankfully no one was injured or eating at the table when it happened. There was no warning - just a shattered mess on my deck floor. Scary!! I will not purchase another glass table!!

I am very disappointed with the quality of this outdoor furniture. The glass shatter problem is a safety hazard and I am just lucky that it did not happen when my grandchildren were visiting.

I like many others have had the "shocking" experience of having my patio table explode in a million pieces. I bought the set from my local K-Mart in 2009, I still have the receipt and warranty information. I first contacted Martha Stewart and was told to contact K-Mart/Sears. I also have an address and phone number for the manufacturer for this needing it: Numark Industries | P.O. Box 693, Danville, Indiana 46122 | 800-457-4652

I called May 5, 2015 9:30AM and spoke to CRS named **, has been with the company one year. She first offered to waive shipping fees if I purchased a new glass top, then changed her story and said they no manufacture the Melrose Collection (there is a picture of the set on their website however, they still sell a screen enclosure set). I was told that I could put in writing my complaint to the company. I asked for the name of the company president and ** said she did not know who that was, "I just come in and do my job". She did know the name of her supervisor **. I believe these tables are a real danger to the public and should be recalled and replaced by the manufacturer, and those of us who shelled out $450.00 dollars should make Ms. Stewart and Sears/K-Mart aware we will not be purchasing any more items they sell unless they do the ethical thing that is right by their customers.

I purchased the six piece Lake Adela wicker patio set at home depot several years ago at the home depot, at a cost of approximately $1200.00. The set is on my lanai, and never exposed to the elements. Although the frames are beautifully designed, and appear to be sturdy, the cushions are a nightmare. The real shame is that the fabric seems to be very sturdy, but all of the cushions are stuffed with loose fill, and not nearly enough of it. Aside from the fact that before long you can feel every support under you, you are also lying down when you attempt to sit back. The other part is that you can't ever wash the fabric, because you will never get the loose fill back in the cushions properly (aside from the horrible mess). I priced having all of the cushions either replaced, or filled with solid foam, and it was going to cost more than the entire set either way.

I purchased an outdoor set from Walmart in April 2008 that has a 10 year structure warranty. The set still looks nice and new because every year I purchase a new set of covers. The set sits on my deck in the same spot since it came home. The problem is almost all the legs where they touch the deck have rotted out. The wicker is all that holds most legs. The table that is not always covered has all the wicker falling off. I buy a cover for it but there is not one for a table so it always blows off. The wicker is all falling off and the legs are rotten so it just warbles around. My main Complaint is NO ONE with Walmart or Internet can tell me what to do. I WANT MY WARRANTY HONORED MARTHA. I live alone and this set is very seldom used, it looks new until you sit on it and the legs fall apart with rust. I want Walmart and Martha to honor my warranty if they can afford it.

I purchased a Martha Stewart Mallorca patio set from Home Depot in 2010. I paid $550 for this 6 chair (2 swivel) and rectangular glass top table set. It remained in the box for one year until my son put it together for me. Because I am a widow and live alone, the set was hardly used. So I kept it covered most of the time. In less than a year, the table top and chair arms began to rust. The cushions became porous and faded. By the second season, it looked like I had left it out uncovered for years.

A friend of mine recommended that I have it sand basted and powder coated. Of course, to have this done we had to remove all the chair straps and the bolts on the swivel chairs (which were all rusted) first. After the treatment, my set is now beautiful. However, I had to purchase new straps and screws which my son had to install and finding cushions online that didn't cost a fortune. All this cost me about $1,000.00. Now my concern after reading other complaints, is that the glass table top might shatter and I have grandchildren who visit often. I would never purchase or recommend a product with Martha Stewart's name on it, ever again. Her products are costly and cheaply made. Martha Stewart, you should be ashamed of yourself!!

I purchased Martha Stewart patio furniture at Home Depot in 2010. It was lovely with a center glass insert and 6 chairs. Also purchased a cover which was key as I couldn't store it inside. After winter in 2011 I removed the cover to find the sheen on the set was gone, replaced by a powdered substance with the appearance of the color (dark brown) and rust. I was told at Home Depot that the set was cast aluminum and wouldn't rust. This was great as I wanted to get rid of the wrought iron set that I had which did rust. I immediately called Home Depot and was given the number for Martha Stewart Living. I was told to wash it all down with a mild soap and water, rinse and let it air dry. I did that to no avail. The chairs left a rust colored coating on my stamped cement patio. I haven't used the set for fear that the powder substance would not only attach itself to guests but ruin my cushions which I did store inside along with the glass insert.

I contacted Home Depot and did an online chat about a remedy and was told to clean the set with soap and water, rinse, let dry and apply first a metal primer (white) and then a high performance protective enamel (color). I've just begun and have coated two chairs with the primer after taping off the vinyl straps. I am furious that I have to go through this process, wasting time, money, and am not even sure of the outcome. I feel that I was duped and Martha Stewart should be held accountable as her name is on this product. I will never purchase anything 'Martha Stewart' again.

Purchased the whole set less than two years ago. Horrible. The cushions are all faded and splotchy. Ripping at the seams also. Embarrassed to have this set on my deck. Also the rust that is coming out of my furniture is unbelievable. Have a Trex deck and had to use bleach to get the rust stains out. I am so angry of this waste of money. I purchased a set at Target about 6 years ago. That set lasted all that time with minimal fading. Replaced that set with this one. What a joke. I even gave my Target set to a family member because it still was in very good shape. I will never buy another Martha Stewart item again.

A little over a year ago (now outside warranty of course) I purchased the Martha Stewart rocker/swivel chair from Home Depot online. It's super comfortable and attractive. However I soon had a problem with the base, in that one of the bolts would not hold. I tried various fixes and finally it was just resolved by Home Depot, who had to drill a hole into the base and install a much larger bold. During the hot AZ summer months, I was careful to keep it completely covered and never allowed it to get wet either. But now the fabric (which is clearly not a Sunbrella or comparable product) is completely disintegrating! I have no idea how to rectify the problem other than trying to find new cushions. I do NOT recommend this product!

Our Martha Stewart living glass patio table (like so many others have experienced) shattered randomly one day. Do not waste your time with product. Home Depot will not stand by any warranty for the furniture unless you purchased the extended warranty. The company that manufactures the set states they only warranty the glass tables for 5 days from shipping. There is no other warranty for their products. Any company that will not stand by their product is worthless. The guy tried to give an example as to why they should not as they cannot control how people use it, such as for a dinner. Something so reckless!

Citing a family who sits down for dinner using their table, and places a hot dish on it as his example of why his company should not warranty the table. He also claimed of no one having this issue that he was aware of or any consumer complaints about shattering tables. We had the table covered in the winters. We used it like any other family would. We purchased $1300.00 in Martha Stewart patio furniture at K-Mart a few years back. I have decided to write a review on this. We purchased the table/4 chairs/ 2 rockers/lounge chair and a few other pieces. Before one year was even up, we had to replace the umbrella and most of the chair cushions as the fabric just ripped apart. Then rust set in. The lazy Susan Cracked. The silver chairs rusted very bad! They were very ugly. At the end of the summer - the first season - we put the new umbrella in the garage to protect it. By the beginning of the next summer, when we went to take it out, the fabric just fell apart. It was like you touched it and it just ripped! We could not live with this furniture anymore. It all went to the dump.

We may have one of the rockers left at the side of the house we still need to take to the dump. The calls to the company did not go so well. We also learned that the company who actually made this furniture went out of business. There was nothing we could do. We did call one of the top managers at K-mart and they did nothing. I saw so many bad reviews on her furniture and K-Mart would not even acknowledge there was any problems. They acted as if there was no complaints but in reality there were so many complaints out there. I do not buy Martha Stewart anything and will never give her another dime of our money! But the cushions are a mess. The pea-green fabric faded within one summer (we live in the forest, so it's not that sunny here) and it was impossible to clean up spots. Now the cushions look like hell and we want to replace them. But because they are T-shaped, the only replacements are from... wait for it... Martha Stewart. Yup. We have no option but to buy the same crappy product again, unless we start all over again with new furniture. No thanks, Martha. I'd rather pay someone to make substantial, cleanable slip-covers.

I discovered the other complaints here when my Martha Stewart Living patio table glass shattered for no apparent reason only three days after purchasing it from Home Depot. There was no wind. It was 73 degrees and nothing was sitting on the table. I was sitting inside when I heard a loud crash and then upon walking out to my patio, I saw a pile of crackling glass (that stayed crackling for the half hour I was cleaning it up). I was told the glass was not covered under the warranty and the replacement glass would cost $300 (with delivery) to replace, but that it was the exact same glass that originally came with the table. My online search discovered the same problem has been happening with these tables for the past four years, are still being sold and the design not changed. Outrageous!

We purchased a 7-piece Martha Stewart Mallorca II Patio Set (plus umbrella) late last summer and stored it in the garage during the winter months. It was placed back on the patio two weeks ago and the glass suddenly shattered last night for no apparent reason. There was a little breeze but not enough to shatter the glass. I also noticed that the cushions looked very worn and faded already. I then remembered that my husband had difficulty putting it together last summer as the holes did not line up correctly. I see these same complaints from other consumers and see that we paid $400 for a cheaply constructed patio set. My husband spoke with Home Depot and they stated that this set was discontinued and offered no restitution.

Home Depot should be embarrassed to sell any of Martha Stewart's products and I am appalled that no one will stand behind these purchases and replace the obviously defective sets. Perhaps a class action lawsuit should be initiated as someone somewhere will eventually be injured from the breaking glass. I know that my husband was cut while cleaning up the mess last night in the dark. Can anyone help us?

I purchased 3 different groups of patio furniture at Home Depot over $2,000.00 worth - 1 3pc set, 1 4pc set and 2 chase lounges. After 1 season (last year), the cushions started coming apart and shredding. All the furniture is stored in the garage during the winter and was only outside for 4 months. I have no animals or children. This product should last longer than this. I would like replacements or my money back. I also had some problems putting the furniture together. Holes did not line up. I had to get help (someone strong enough to put it together).

Like everyone else listed here, we too experienced the same issues with our new Martha Stewart patio set. We walked out to our backyard to find our glass table top in a million pieces. We were shocked as there was no wind and nothing fell on it. Nothing. It just exploded into millions of sharp little pieces. The Martha Stewart company should not be allowed to sell this product any longer. We paid over $600.00 for a table which we now cannot use. Now all we have is 6 useless chairs. To replace the table top is over $300.00 (not worth it). Something should be done to this company. I will never recommend anything that she makes and I will make it a point that whenever I am in Home Depot and see someone looking to buy these sets, I will tell them not to waste their money.

I purchased this product in June 2012. I purchased the umbrella and all, and cared for it very much. I would put the cushions indoors when my family was not outside and in September, put away the entire table into my shed, which by the way was empty. After a month of purchase, I realized the cushions were no longer as nice (not as full) and the paint started to flake off the table but I decided not to make a fuss.

Well, after caring for the table and the glass and carefully putting it away inside my covered shed and still placing a tarp over it (my husband insisted it would protect it from the cold weather-probably incorrect but whatever, we covered it), last month in January 2013, I went into the shed to check on the table and found that the glass was shattered into a million pieces. I called Home Depot and was told that the manufacturer does not cover this and it was not under warranty. Ironically, it's the only piece that is not covered. So I now have to pay for a replacement, that is if they get one since it is backordered. And now, all of a sudden, it is discontinued! I am so upset!

About a month ago, I was in the kitchen when I heard what sounded like a gunshot or explosion. It sounded like it came from the deck, so I looked out the window and my glass top table was shattered in a million pieces on the ground! I was searching the internet to figure out how to replace glass in a table when I came across all the complaints. I was shocked. I thought it was just a freak accident but now that explains it! It made no sense at the time but now it does. It was a ticking time bomb apparently. I think of all the times we've moved the table and all the times we sat there over the past 10 years that it could have happened at any moment.

It is disgusting that these tables have been being made improperly for this long and they keep making them. They should have a warning with purchase, warning this table may self-destruct! It took me a few days to get most of the glass up. Then what to do with it? I couldn't put it in plastic bags as it would break through, and how do I make sure the garbage men do not get cut also? The glass was sharp and heavy. I had to be so careful not to get cut. There is still glass stuck in the deck boards and some under the deck and in the garden. It went everywhere!

On January 19, 2013, we had to move the glass, but the glass was shattered into hundreds of pieces. No one had been anywhere in the vicinity while it was in storage. After investigating online as to how I could get a replacement top, I came upon this site, so I decided to share our experience. I am going to contact Home Depot to see what they can do or recommend. We think that the manufacturer should replace the top with upgraded glass. Other than the glass shattering, we like the set; it is well constructed as far as we can tell as well as having an attractive, simple design, which we like.

Earlier in 2012, we purchased a Martha Stewart Mallorca Patio Dining set with two chaise lounge chairs and a small table from The Home Depot A month ago, I noticed that on the horizontal base of each lounge chair, there are two structural tubes that insert into another tube. In fact, there is a push button on the chairs' base where if you hold in the button, you can slide the tube out. At the four points where one tube goes into the other on the two chairs, they're bubbling paint and rust so bad that it might actually have already destroyed the structure of the chairs. Considering that all the furniture was purchased at the same time, it seems to be more than a coincidence that all of the furniture is perfect except for those four spots. There is not one bit of rust anywhere else (So far, I feel lucky that my table's glass has not exploded. Now I have another thing to worry about!).

I brought this obvious defect to the attention of Antonio **, the store manager of my Home Depot. He proceeded to show me a booklet from an identical Martha Stewart chair that disclaimed coverage for "rusting hardware," ignoring the prior section which provided coverage for defects to the surface of the furniture. He also failed to understand that "hardware" in this context refers to screws, not the metal frame which is covered by the warranty against the defects. Also, he thought that it must be a coincidence that the only four such mating points for the tubes are the only pieces that rusted. Actually, he thought his best position was - "You kept the patio furniture outside?!"

So stupid me, he used this situation to up-sell me. I now have a Dremel, primer, tape, Rustoleum paint and other supplies to attempt to refinish the chairs. I am disabled and can barely hang a picture! It's very difficult for me to deal with people that cannot fathom the concept of logic. If the disclaimer of a warranty on all hardware actually meant all of the chairs' "metal" structure, then I guess there would be no need to have a warranty covering the metal (I guess, HD was thinking in terms of hardware vs. software rather than in the context of a hardware store that deals with fastening metal objects with hardware). I am waiting to hear back from Martha.

So, has anyone determined the cause of the glass breakage? Could it be the change in temperature which may not occur to such an extreme in Florida, or should I get rid of the table?

After completing a patio, we searched for the perfect patio set. We found the one we wanted and ordered online through Home Depot. The set seats 6. The table has a tile table top. The table was perfect during the latter part of summer (It took us that long to finish the patio and purchase the set.) and into fall. I will admit that I didn't frequent the patio in the winter. In the spring, I went to sit out there and enjoy the weather. There was a very long crack down the edge of the table, not even following the lines of the "grout." Over the summer, two more cracks have appeared in the table top. So I am very angry that I paid that much money ($1,000) for something that I believed would last a very long time to only have it look nice for 6 or 7 months at the most.

Martha Stewart Welland Patio Set - I bought my set in May 2011. We enjoyed the set last summer but in October, the table top exploded during the night. I was terrorized as I thought someone had broken the patio door glass and was entering my house. The sound was that loud. I found the shatter-proof glass in a thousand tiny pieces. The people that handle the warranty were rude and kept repeating the warranty did not cover the glass, the shatter-proof glass. I was able to get another glass top and when I went to put the umbrella in the stand today, the plastic ring in the center of the table snapped and the glass again shattered everywhere. My feet have tiny cuts all over them from the shatter-proof glass.

I will replace the table, but never again from anything made by Martha Stewart. Reading all the complaints on the glass, I am surprised that someone was not seriously injured. If anyone does, bring a lawsuit against this company. I can be a witness to two incidents of the glass shattering. This product should be off the market before someone does get hurt.

Martha Stewart Cascade Valley 7-pieces set - The glass of this table just abruptly exploded when my wife was putting in the umbrella to get it ready for our outside dinner chow. After getting "merry-go-around" ** from our local Home Depot, they suggested us to contact the factory. It turns out this phone number is n.f.g. After googling up the phone number, we came across the original PDF for installation of this set and it clearly indicated the glass breakage is not under warranty, per se. With that said, we got an idea from our dear friend about using plywood and using tiles on it to make it completely "customized". So, we're going to give it a shot, whee!

By the way, Martha Stewart, you might want to seriously consider yanking the idea of glass table off all together, because it is very dangerous with them glasses all over. Luckily it didn't happen with our dog and kids around, considering it's the base for our swimming pool party. Not a very bright idea to be using tempered glass in the first place.

Another case of a shattered glass patio table! I was not aware that these things shattered like they do, wow! Four adults, 3 five-month-old babies (one of which was sitting in her car seat under the table), and a 3-year-old were enjoying the beautiful day around a friend’s pool. Two of the dads were grilling dinner and all of a sudden the wind got a hold of the umbrella and bam, the table top exploded and fell to the ground in tiny pieces similar to auto glass. Several of us had cuts on our legs, the umbrella came down on the head of the triplets’ father and of course nobody had shoes on. The baby under the table was showered with broken glass and her car seat was full of glass as well. It was horrifying! As the grandmother of the triplets, and the one who had put her under the table for shade, this could have been a nightmare if that had gotten into her eyes. I could have been plagued with the what ifs. Amazingly, she only had three cuts, one of which is by her eyebrow! This is not just a Martha Stewart thing, everyone should be aware of what these glass tables can do.

I purchased a Martha Stewart patio set 11+ years ago. We have enjoyed it but it started showing its age. I liked the style, the lazy Susan, the size, etc. A few years back, I went on-line to see if I could get a new umbrella since ours was getting tattered. I was surprised to see all the complaints about how the glass would just shatter unexpectedly. Looking at the complaints, they all seemed to be tables that were manufactured several years after ours. I thought that maybe ours was one of the first ones and like some manufacturers, they "cost reduced" the product and thus were having quality problems.

I remember reading somewhere "it's not that it will happen, it's when it will happen". Well ours shattered today. I'm not too heartbroken since we did have if for a pretty long time but I am very thankful that no one was near it when it happened. This is a safety concern and I can't believe that the responsible party has not recalled this product. All I can say, if this happens to someone and they end up getting severely hurt (e.g. losing an eye), I can't imagine the defense attorney trying to convince a jury that the company "didn't know".

This seems to be a common problem with this set along with the potential for the glass in the table to shatter for absolutely no reason. This highly concerns me as I have a 6-month-old and we love spending time out on our patio, but now I'm scared to have her and myself out there. I, too, purchased the Martha Stewart 7-piece mallorca patio set in June 2011. I had already seen rust about a month later. After reading all the complaints about the glass tops exploding, I shall be, apparently, waiting for that too! What kind of quality control is there? Is the glass not tempered properly? Is it even made in this country?

I would like to know if you got all my claims. Please let me know what's going on with it. I made a claim with you last month.

I just purchased my furniture this summer 2011. I already have rust and it’s only been a few months! I think it should last more than 3 months.

My table exploded! I have the Olympia 7-pc. collection with the fern patterned tempered glass top. I walked out on my deck yesterday and it was shattered in a million pieces. Thank God it happened in the middle of the night and no one was hurt. It makes me so angry to see that I am one of so many who have had the same problem. Why would you ever purchase a Martha Stewart product again after a scary experience like this?

I ordered a patio furniture set online last January. The table on the set is starting to fall apart. I would like it replaced.
