I had a bed, and it was an adjustable bed just like Craftmatic. With Craftmatic they all got a few more gadgets on it to go along. I'm adding that because let's say you had to buy car. You go out, you got a car, you can move your mirror, you can move your seat, you can heat your seat, you can do all this other stuff, and all that is a money-making progress for the company because there's more things to go wrong; therefore, they'regonna have to service it; therefore, they're gonna make money on service again. Unfortunately, that's what it is.
The bed I got so far has gone pretty well. Now, we got an inner spring mattress. When I first got this thing, when I first bought this until after I had said I was gonna buy it, I was not aware. I probably was told, but I didn't hear it correctly. I must say it was my fault. I do not like inner spring mattresses because I'd slept on inner spring mattresses before your mother was born, and I know that they don't do what needs to be done because they have pressure points all over the place. And you can tell me they don't, but they do.
I have an inner spring mattress and 'it's got a 15-year warranty on it'. I'm sorry to say, but like I've said, I'm old enough to be that old. I've never seen an inner spring mattress that lasted 15 years. So my next question is 'Okay, am I gonna be able to get anything back out of Craftmatic if this thing goes wrong, which I'm having troubles with at the present time.?' I weigh 240 lbs. I have got the inner spring. It's got the soft side or softer side on one side, and I have a hard side on the other. I thought, well, I'm 240. I'm gonna try the hard side. Well, within about 3 days after I got this thing, where you sit on it, it had already started to sag. Now, I got an inner spring mattress.
When I was buying this and I hadn't gotten my head screwed on, and I'm taking the blame for it, I wouldn't have that. I wouldn't have Craftmatic because I would not have an inner spring mattress. And I wouldn't have paid much more. I wouldn't have paid hardly any more than I'm paying for what I got now. I know about what these things cost, and I know that you have to make money and I'm the one who has to supply it. But when I get this thing, I like to have what I have. You see, I didn't get to try my dress on before I bought it. Therefore, I didn't get exactly what I wanted to get. Over the phone, it's hard to get some of this stuff done. Therefore, I don't like buying it like that. I don't like buying anything over the phone.
I'm not angry because part of it was my fault, because I'm the one that screwed up. But the thing was, we went back and forth, and back and forth, and back and forth so many times, and I got lost in the back and forth. And I didn't have the bed to sit in front of me and say I want this one, or this one, or this one. I'm doing this over the phone. I'm not dissatisfied. I'm just not totally happy with the way it was carried out. This evaluation is kinda quick because I've only had this thing 2 or 3 weeks.
I've owned an adjustable bed that was sold to me by somebody else over the phone, but the man came and showed it to me. They sold it to me over the phone, brought me the bed, and put it in my house. They let me sleep on it and then let me decide if I wanted it. So it was a different experience than what I got with Craftmatic because when Craftmatic left here, they left here with the bed that I was already sleeping on. So if I'm dissatisfied with Craftmatic, what are they gonna do with my bed? So I'm very dissatisfied with that and the thing because if I don't like it, you come and get my bed. Where is my bed? What am I going to sleep on tonight?
My wife and I both have heartburn for which we need to have them. It lays the head of the bed so that we don't have heartburns, so we don't get up pretty stuck up on our esophagus and then gasp. And I don't know why I get in bed early, maybe because I get up early. My chair where I'm sitting on right now, which is a recliner, it can be made into a bed. And so I sit in it with my dog and I sleep and do whatever I wanna do (watch TV or whatever). So okay I got 5 hours sleep on it. The five hours sleep I got was pretty good, but if I had gone back in there, all I would have done, because I've tried it, is toss and turn. That's it. I would have tossed and turned. So I don't know what it is.
The adjustable bed is good. I think it has got features on it. The old one that I had, you had to put the foot down and you had to put the head down. This one I can have the foot stick and straight up in the head, have you on a V, and the thing, you press flat, it goes flat. And I don't have to mess with all the buttons. So if you have some things on it that does this, the vibrator on it is a lot wider than the one that I had on the other one. So that part of it is in there. I think I have vibrator on my back. If you hadn't tried it, you'd want them too much. But anyway, I've got it. Mine vibrated one night, and it did ok, and I hadn't done it since then. So anyway, that part is good and I like that.
In doing all this stuff, some of the things that were said goes back to some of the things that I saw on TV, which I didn't know I got, did, or whatever. I'm gonna give you an example. I was doing what I do very well (and my wife gets mad at me). I was storming through the TV, hunting me a channel. Well, they were showing adjustable beds. I don't know whose adjustable bed it was because I did not get in on when it first started and it did not say from the time I got on till the time the thing was over. And they showed this adjustable bed, and if you want to make the bed, you could split the bed. The headboard/head part stays stationary, and you could take the two feet of both beds and spread them. So you get in there so you can make the bed. I thought that's pretty good, for one of the things in doing/making this bed is getting in the middle of this thing.
Now, the guy (Frank) who sold me the bed said, 'Oh with this bed, it would be very easy to make your bed.' Well, I was thinking because I saw this on TV that this was what I was gonna get. Now that's not what I wanna get. What he's watched me to do is raise the foot, raise the head, then put the sheets on (the adjustable sheets), and then hit the flatting thing, and it will flatten it out, and it's all done. Well, I hadn't tried it yet till I got back this morning. So I don't know whether that's gonna work or not. It's way too early for me to evaluate this thing. I just got the thing 3 weeks. And in 3 weeks, I ain't got a clue whether I will like it pretty much or not.
The bed was good [the old one]. In fact, I wore out a mattress on the other one that I had. And I went and bought me a new mattress. Now the thing with this was I slept on that mattress. I didn't sleep on it, but I got in the storeroom with the mattress. I laid down there for couple of hours, literally, and it was very comfortable. And for the first years, two years, it was very nice. And then all of a sudden, all hell broke loose and they weren't very comfortable. And it's still uncomfortable. So actually, I could have bought a mattress and put in on the other bed and got on my merry way, but the fact of this is that I had had that and I had run that vibrator. I had raised the bed, lowered the bed, raised the bed, lowered the bed, and there's a certain amount of time where something wears out. So I said ok, I can buy this. Right now, I have a little money. Spend it on the bed that is gonna last me the rest of my life than to have something break a little later and not have the money and be able to pay for. So that's why I bought the bed.

I've already got a friend who is looking at a Craftmatic bed because of me. I just have some issues. This Craftmatic that's all I have were left to me from my mother and they were very hardly used. They are probably one of the original Craftmatics. And my friend had bought a used one, and she's having some issues with the head raising. But I understand they can't diagnose it over the phone and stuff. So that's understandable. This one's about 30 years. It's comfortable. I just love it. My mother's had them for years. My mother bought five of them. She had two twins in the master bedroom. But she never used the master bedroom, just in case people came to stay or something. In the last minute before I sold her home, I decided to take those, and it's the best thing I ever did. I put them together and then used them as a dual king. And they're great. I love that. I love those beds.
I'm getting the best sleep with Craftmatic. I told them mark their Craftmatic. I said I'd mortgage my house if I had to buy another bed. I mean if I didn't have the money, oh yeah. I've never slept so good. And I know they have, like the Tempur-Pedic ones. A friend of mine was looking at those at one time. And I said, 'I don't know. Craftmatic has been around a long time.' And I say, 'I'm really thrilled with mine.' And I say, 'I don't even have to buy them.' My mother bought five of them. I love them. Oh god yeah, I wouldn't recommend anything else.
My experience has been very good. I have no problems. The only thing I had a question was, but Mark didn't know, the newer beds because I'm not familiar with them, because like I said, mine was about 30 years old and mine are hardwired. In other words, just cable directly connected to the remote. I just wonder if that is still an option with Craftmatic, if they're all wireless, and he didn't know. So I think that he's gonna get back to me on that. I was just wondering like for new customers like my one client because she has sleep apnea, and I told her I used to snore a lot too. I used to wake myself up snoring. I'm not that old. And I said ever since I've had these beds, I've had them two years now, I've never had a problem. I said there's a difference between sleeping on two pillows or raising your bed slightly. There's no comparison. They're wonderful. I'm telling you they're worth it. They are worth it. They're worth their weight in gold. They're great. They really are.
There's something to be said about a good night sleep - that is something money can't buy. My knees used to hurt. I'm not heavy or anything. I work outside a lot. And of course, I sit in a desk all day. My knees used to bother me. They haven't bothered ever since I've had these beds. And that's a fact. I look forward to going into bed at night now. I read now. I'm an avid reader now, which I wasn't over two years ago. Yup, I love to go in bed, and I have the TV in there. I have a nice bedroom, you know, cozy and everything. And I just love those beds.

I have six of them. I mean six speaks for itself. I like the mechanism in it, the mattress, how smooth it moves up and down, the vibrator, the heat, everything else. At present we still have six beds. I have a cottage up north. I have two doubles up there. I got two doubles down here, and I got two singles upstairs except for my bedroom. It's been 25 years since I've had my first one, and it's still working. I like the vibrating feature the most... the head's going up and down... the memory, it's good. My experience has been wonderful.

I just have a hard time getting enough time in it. Otherwise, it's very wonderful. It's very comfortable. The prices had declined to enough. It's hard because you don't know if like you're really being convinced to that. But the bed is very comfortable. I would recommend it to anybody. I really would. For my issues, like I have little back problems, it depends. Sometimes I thought, it depends on what I did, I'll have pain and stuff like that. And then when I go to sleep, when I wake up it's not there. So it's a good thing. I'd recommend it. I really, really would. I have had my bed since September or November. It's cozy and comfortable.

When I sent them the check, when they got the check, they made the arrangement to send the bed. It was pretty easy. When they came, they took the other bed apart. They took it upstairs and put it together and put the Craftmatic together. And it's the first time I'd been able to sit on the bed and get in bed. My bed was too high. I had to get up on my knees. But I've had two amputations, on either foot. So, it makes it hard since I'm not walking yet in shoes. This makes it a lot easier for me. The nurse recommended that I get a Craftmatic. They measure me to the bed so this way I can get into bed, because I haven't slept in a bed in 6 months.
It's a week (this Friday) that I had it or a little longer. It could be two weeks. I'm not sure on the time. It's less than a month. Well, I'll tell you I talked to somebody else before this here, last week. And I told them it was the best investment I ever made and I wouldn't be afraid to recommend this bed to anybody. It's comfortable. You raise the head, and I raise the legs a little bit for circulation and for sleeping. It's wonderful. Everybody that comes in lies on the bed and says, 'Oh my god, how comfortable it is.'

I recently looked online for pricing for an adjustable bed. I filled out an info form for Craftmatic. The ad said no salesperson would call or visit, no pressure. Within the hour, someone called me. I am very busy. My husband recently had a stroke. I have no time for sales phone calls. I hung up. She called me back and left me a nasty voice mail - told me I was not concerned with my husband’s health and told me to call someone else. When the time comes to buy a bed, it will not be a Craftmatic. This woman whose name was Peggy should not be allowed to contact customers. It upset me greatly and I would appreciate it if management is informed of this woman. This is no way to handle business. I thought Craftmatic was a good reputable company. I guess I was wrong.

I think I got the Craftmatic on the 23rd of November. This is the first time I've had a Craftmatic. It helps me on my back, everywhere. I have got problems big time. That's why I said I wish I had it long time ago.
They did a wonderful job in setting it up. They cleaned up their mess and everything - not a mark anywhere. They were so friendly. I had a dog that really wanted to help them too. My experience with Craftmatic is excellent. Super.

I like to sleep up on it. My husband's problems required that he sleep up too. So when we actually got the Craftmatic, we just like having the option of having our head up and that's why we like the bed so much.
Well, everything went smoothly when they set it up. This was quite a while ago. We had nothing but great experience with the bed and I always tell everybody that I love my bed. And whenever we travel and go places, we always can't wait to get back and sleep on our own bed. It's been at least 15 years since we've had it. My experience - heavenly.

I have a torn meniscus in my right knee. I'd be able to go to bed at night, and I can raise the bottom section so that my leg is not out straight. It takes the pressure off my knee. I have no problem sleeping. For comfort's sake, I'd raise the head end because I find it far more comfortable than just lying out there flat like a coffin. It's basically when you need it for certain things, the bed itself can be maneuvered to be very therapeutic. We've only had one. We've had it since 2000.
We had problems with it once. They came down from Phoenix, and I think they had to put a new motor in one side. But other than that, there's been no problem with it. I'm definitely happy with the quality of the product. My experience since we've had it has all been extremely positive.

Everything was okay. I just got a letter today and it says confirmation of order and it says they charged my credit card on the file and everything is okay. The bed has been delivered, sorted out and everything. I don't have a problem with the bed or the delivery. I just got the bed yesterday. They delivered and set it up and I waited all day for it to inflate. It's one of those memory-foam mattresses. They had a vacuum fill this and folded it so. It expanded for about six hours or something.

I am a 30 year old mother of two young daughters. I am writing to a few specific companies or individuals that I really appreciate, and am calling this my Project Gratitude. Your company is on my list. Since my surgery five years ago, I have realized how much little things can make a very big difference in people's lives. I have decided to let you know how much of a difference your adjustable bed has made to me.
Five years ago I was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor. I was pregnant with my second daughter at the time (my older daughter, Amelia, was two years old at the time) so I decided to wait until she was born to have surgery. But the tumor grew too fast, threatening both our lives. I had the surgery which left me in a coma for three months. The last thing I was told before surgery was that Piper (my unborn daughter) would have a 99% chance of dying, but now she is a perfect five year old!
While Piper and Amelia are vibrant and healthy, I seem to be having a slightly more difficult time. I lost the ability to speak in a traditional way and have limited ability throughout my body. I am especially frustrated by the fact that I can't really move the muscles in my face that well. I am not able to smile or eat. In addition, my eyesight has been severely impacted, so I can't read the way I used to. Hearing is the only sensory system that is intact. The little things that make life comfortable have taken on new significance, as you can imagine.
It took just about two years after coming home from rehabilitation (where I was for a year after my surgery) for me to have my tiny hospital bed replaced by a Craftmatic double bed. Now my room doesn't look like a hospital room and both of my girls can snuggle with me because they are getting so big!
I just wanted to let you know how much my wonderful Craftmatic Adjustable Bed means to me. It has made my life so much better. Thank you!

Well, I have a stent put in my groin area for one leg a couple of years ago and then I just had my Thyroid taken out and so I was in a hospital bed and then when I got home, it was like, 'Oh, **, I don't want a hospital bed. But I want a bed that does all that stuff but I don't want to be sickly.' So, that's why I got this. Plus, two or three years ago, I've been up and visited a girl friend and she had a bed and she let me try it out. So, Craftmatic was on the tip of my tongue but it was so expensive that I was like, 'I can't do it. I can't do it.' And then after being in the hospital, I said, 'Hell, I'm going to do it.'
I'm happy I did it. But a lot of times you do without, do without, do without, and I'm 75 years old and I said, 'The hell with it. I'm going to do it.' I just wished I've done it five or ten years earlier. But it was really a healthcare issue that really kind of made me do it. I've had it for about 2 months.
I kind of know the settings because I called yesterday, because I couldn't get the wave action going and then come to find out I was supposed to turn the massage on and then the wave action. Nobody told me that. Anyhow, I did that and it works just fine. So yeah, I'm happy. I just pressed the wave action and I do the flat. I think I've even done the set but I can't remember which one I did. It's been a great experience.

This is the second time we've had a Craftmatic Bed. We bought our first one about 15 or 20 years ago. We got rid of it and bought another bed which we were very dissatisfied with. We went back to Craftmatic.
They got my message online and called me. We talked to them about the different Craftmatic beds that they had and explained to them our situation with my husband's back surgery and my edema. They recommended the mattresses that we should have and it just proceeded right on and within two weeks, we had the bed. They hauled off the old bed for us.
I would recommend Craftmatic to anyone that needed that top of bed. It's a very comfortable bed and my husband has slept better since we got it.

Three days later, I had it.
I have had my previous bed for 15 years. I have arthritis in my shoulders. It has helped me improve my sleep at night.
I called around to different ones who have begun tearing the adjustable bed, but they don't seem to know very much about them and kinds of mattresses that would be best for different kinds of people. I really had no idea if they're still around and I just looked up online and found this nice young man. I think it was Ray or Stephen that I talked to. And I ordered it and he's in Florida. But it will be sent. We haven't gotten it yet. But it will be sent from Tennessee I think and Kentucky.
It's just been very good and we've moved probably 10 times since we got it. It's held up very nicely. We have one problem now and that's at the foot of my husband's bed. I bought a new bed four years ago and I paid $2,000 for the bed. It wasn't a Craftmatic and it has driven me absolutely crazy. For four years, I haven't been able to sleep three hours a night, maybe four. It got to a point where it was an absolute nightmare. I quit my job because I couldn't stay awake and I thought it was me. Then, my mother was putting a new bed in one of her rooms of her house and she says, 'I have these two Craftmatic beds. You want to stick them in your room?' And I said yes. So they've been sitting in there for a couple of months. I moved the Craftmatic beds into my room. I'm sleeping eight hours a night now.
Before the new bed was $2,000 and it had a pillow top. It was a great mattress. I would get up in the morning and the first three hours, I could barely walk. My back hurt. My knees hurt. My feet hurt. And I thought it was me. I know I have a bit of arthritis and I thought that's what it was. With this Craftmatic bed, I sleep for eight hours. I could wake up in the morning and run a marathon. I don't even want to get out of bed in the morning. And I don't understand it because on this mattress that I bought at, I finally got two pillow tops and put those on and then my daughter bought me a memory foam and I put that on and nothing helps.
I've been sleeping on the Craftmatic for one week. This is new. And I said to my mother that this is unbelievable. I said, 'The only other bed where I've been able to sleep this well was when you're in Florida a couple of years ago and I looked after your house.' I said, 'I slept on your bed and that was really comfortable.' She said, 'Well, I hate to tell you this but that's a Craftmatic bed too.'

I could probably tell a friend but not favorably. The gentleman who came to set it up, they've done a good job but they've done it reluctantly. I had to sit there in the room with them and tell them everything that I wanted done and they kept saying, 'We're not supposed to do that. We're not supposed to do that.' Then, I was disappointed. I think the bed was misrepresented to me. I was satisfied with the bed but it's not as represented to me. They told me I would be getting an 11-inch thick mattress and when in fact it arrived, it's 9 inches. And I just don't think it's not as represented to me. It's satisfactory but not what I expected.

I love this. The fellows came on Friday. My niece, she's my godchild and she brought me the book and she said to me, 'Aunt, you got to get this bed. No ifs, ands, or buts.' She said, 'Because your back is bad and you need that,' because I affected my back. I didn't fall. I just went to get something from the refrigerator and that's how I did it. But when I get in that bed and I put the head up and the feet up and put the vibrator on, oh I feel great and then the heat comes out after that. It helps me a lot. I would say everything is excellent. They were wonderful. They took the old bed out too.

I got the bed last week. And I loved it. So I have my Craftmatic about maybe 20 or 25 percent degree and since I got it, it's been fabulous. My issue with it is that when I ordered it, the gentleman, his name was Ross, asked me how high my existing bed was, and it was 30 and 1/2 inches. And this one is too short and I just got some. About 10 minutes ago, I bought from some lady, extensions came in. I don't know if I could install these things because I'm 74 years old and I walk by cane. But other than that, I'm very happy with the bed. But getting out of it is difficult for me. I had to raise it up.
They showed me the remotes, etc. But my concern was when they installed it, I was asked how high the bed was and this does not measure up to what we had talked about. It's got to be higher, I guess. Because of my back condition, I had difficulty getting out of it when it's being so low. In fact, I'm always tempted to sleep in the other bed until I can get these extensions. Now, I hope I could put these extensions in.
Well, I'm very happy for it. If I can get it to right height, I'll be absolutely in heaven. I mean I've got to raise the bed up one way or the other. I was disappointed because I said it's got to be at least 31 inches, about 30 and 1/2, 31 inches high and it's not. It's 24 inches right now.

My previous one, I got it in 2003 and I got a new one this year. The features are newer. They were better. I went from a queen size single remote to a king size dual remote which I love. With the heat pads, which I love, which I absolutely love, it is such a wonderful thing. I would just tell and I did talk to anybody who have not had a good night's sleep, and I could feel that if you just position yourself and slept in this Craftmatic Bed and put it on vibrate in just half an hour, you're asleep before it goes off. As a matter of fact before I bought my new one I wanted to help the local furniture store because of the bad ecomomy and bought a new adjustable bed from Sleep's. Unfortunately that was a mistake. The mattress was terrible, the bed was cheaply made and they had the nerve to charge $800 more than I paid for my new Craftmatic. They even tried to charge me another $500 to replace the mattress. It took over two months of fighting with them to try and get my money back. When my daughter threated to sue them I got my money back the next day. I love my new Craftmatic. It is the only adjustable bed to buy. And you can take my word for it. We ran into a little bit of a problem with casters, and I think Craftmatic really expended themselves in trying to satisfy us. We were looking for a specific height and the casters they sent were okay, but they were unable to roll on a wooden floor if you follow what I mean. Well, I asked for a better quality of caster, and they said sorry these are the only ones they have and they gave us rubber cups to put under the wheels. I said, "Well, this is great but we are a couple of old folks. Uhh, to pick the bed up off the cups onto the floor to get it to roll, we don't have the strength to do." I mean maybe 20 years ago I could have done it without a problem. Today, I am lucky if I can even pick myself up.
I said, "Well, don't you have casters that are a rubber or like a polyethylene or something that are made or rolling on a wooden floor?" And I said, "Well, tell me about the caster that's on there, what size thread and stuff." She said, "Well how much will it cost?" I told her that I did buy some for the chairs we have and they were 19.95 cents apiece. She turned around and was very honest and said, "I'll tell you what, I'll give you a credit to get 8 casters." And I thought they were trying too hard to satisfy me that that was great! And the guys that delivered it, those guys they were light hearted, a little bit entertaining. They were crafty. I've had a Craftmatic bed for 35 years. I would not change that bed for anything in this world. Once I like a product, I am with you for life, once you please me. In my first 5 years of marriage, I think that my husband and I went through about ten beds with the mattress. And I was spending thousands and thousands on these mattresses. One day these two men showed up at my door. I am going back 35 years because they don't sell door to door anymore; it's all on computers. These two men walked in and told me about Cratmatic beds and they demonstrated it to me and the whole 9 yards. I said, "You know it's very expensive." And he said, "Miss, you will not be not satisfied." I said okay. Well, I figured, "What the heck. I mean I'm spending so much money on these mattresses anyway. I might as well spend a little more money and see how good this mattress is."
I mean 35 years later I still have the same mattress on my bed, and it still works, and the motor is still good! I still have my remote control and all I have to do is put batteries in every so often to keep it going. It's the best bed that I've ever had. And now after 35 years, I think I'm entitled to a new one and I hope this new one that I get will last me another 35 years because I'm hoping to be dead because my bed goes out, because I'm already 60. How long do you think I have to live?!
Craftmatic - anytime you need a bed. Please don't go to Sleepy's; they are a rip-off! If you're buying a mattress, don't go to Sleepy's. You'll be sorry because they promise you everything. Then as soon as they deliver your mattress, you're history to them. They don't even want to know you when you go back with a problem. They are terrible people. The first one, the material was slick and I had to the keep cushion material between the mattress and the box spring to keep it from slipping. But the material came with the first bed. They have changed the material so now that is not necessary. The mattress is bigger and deeper. I took a nap on it already. It was very comfortable
The control for the head and the foot and the vibrator or massager is wireless now, so I didn’t have to worry about finding a place to plug it in. All in all, I am very happy with it. The metal at the foot of the bed, it keeps the mattress from sliding off - a nice basic chrome plated steel, whereas my old on … Ohhh man, that was horrible and it stuck out far from the bed and I was forever bumping into it!
The buttons are lit up whenever you mash them so in the middle of the night when I decide to adjust the bed, that will be easier to see and I always keep the head of my bed up a little bit, because I have problems. I always raise the head and the foot a little bit so I don’t slide down.

I think all disabled kids and adults like Cody should have one - better than the hospital beds! And it looks nicer than a hospital bed. I’m never happy with the price I paid. I mean come on, in today’s economy… But yes I am very happy with the product, yes, very very!
The ordering process was great. The guy was very helpful with the explaining and everything else. But we had a problem in the beginning: when they shipped the mattress, they shipped a different one than I wanted. It hurt him. He cried all night long. He was just in so much pain because of the mattress, and it took awhile to get another mattress here. But it was really sweet because I didn’t have to pay the shipping charge for returning the other mattress. I mean it as your guys’ fault. I said I wanted the one that was the firmest one and you didn’t give me your firmest one.
Dealing with the people was really helpful, really easy, and they were easy-going. They are just very helpful to help you - that was just amazing. Doing stuff like this over the internet is very confusing for me. Craftmatic bed: I would never be without one! And I recommend it to everybody!

I was very sick and I got a Craftmatic bed. And boy, I enjoyed it. It was really great. It was fantastic. I'm now using oxygen so my head has to be up my legs have to be up. It's perfect for me. My back sometimes hurts me in my rear end and I use the massage and oh, it's just relaxing me, so it makes me feel like a million dollars.
Recently, the opposition got stuck and I cannot live without it, so we ordered 2 new beds, 2 new Craftmatic 'cause I love it so much. What's funny, somebody came over and he said, “You know it's just a loose wire. You could tie that up and it'll work.” I already ordered new. I was gonna get a new mattress anyway so I figured, “Well, we'll just get the whole new bed.” I just tell my significant other how wonderful it is. And he says, “Oh, I wanna reuse my legs too.” So, I said, “Well, you have two of them.”
I really enjoyed it because sometimes I have trouble getting out of bed, so I just pick myself up and then get out easily. It's really very good. I like it a lot. I would recommend it to anybody though. Whether you're sick or not, you can use a bed like that. I may look funny with my head up, my legs up but... yeah oh man, I'm so comfortable. No matter how many aches and pains I have, it seems it gets less. Whenever I take a shower or whenever I lay down the bed, the pain seems to get less, especially our bed - it's really comfortable.
I was very happy with the price I received. At first I thought it was kind of odd. But then when I started using it, I would've paid twice the amount of money I paid. It's really funny sometimes you don't realize how good something is until you don't have it. Like one time I was on the ebay, and I sold this guy a white cane, and he called me up and he said, “You got some nerve, charged me that much for shipping and handling.” When he got it, he wrote me back the email and he said, “You know what, you undercharged me. I never realized it was a heavy duty good one.” Because sometimes I have these flimsy ones, that are real light and nothing; this one's a real good one. It's a real good steady one.
When I buy something, I try to buy good quality for that's the way it's gonna be good. But I really enjoyed it for years, it helped me. I would make it get elevated - my legs will up too. And I have to have it elevated and before you see is pillow, then the pillows will follow up and get up. This one you just press the button and it goes up. It was really great. I said, “Oh my God, I can't go without it.” I said, “Well, let's stock up, get another one.” The guy fixed it. I would highly recommend it. I love it.
The mattresses are even better than the mattresses that you can get in the stores for the flat bed. They're much more comfortable. One side is like hard and the other side is like medium, so you can easily use whichever your preference is. For years the regular bed, I used to put a board on the knees to keep it firm. But this is really good. I like it a lot.

Then he made a phone call to his "superior" and said he had explained our situation and would drop the price to $10,000. We still refused, so he made another call to his "higher superior" that said if I told no one, he could do a deal for $7,000 if we signed on the spot right there and then. Really, from $17,000 to $7,000? We said we'd discuss this when he left.
He said the deal was only if we signed there and then. We refused, so one more phone to whoever and the result was we have just overnight to think about it. After all that and now our research, there’s no way would we touch them with a 10' pole. This is a shoddy company - pressured selling, lies and no aftersales service. My heart goes out to the old people that believe this is their savior to better sleep and then everything falls apart with no "lifetime warranty" as promised. This company should be shut down now!

Below is a complaint I wrote in January about the massage motor on my Craftmatic bed. Craftmatic's response is an email telling me they were going to contact me about getting me a motor. Just letting you know that these responses are as bogus as the warranty since I was never contacted by anyone and still have no motor! Upon becoming disabled in 2004, I spent $8,000 to get a top of the line split king Craftmatic bed. A few years ago, the motor quit on my massager. I contacted Contour and I had to send them the old motor and $30, and I got the replacement.
It's now gone out again and I called them for the replacement (which is under a lifetime warranty) and they informed me they were no longer honoring Craftmatic warranties and the motor would be $149 plus shipping. They said now that Craftmatic is back in business, they are no longer honoring the warranties that they were honoring when Craftmatic was out of business! I then called Craftmatic who informed me that Contour is handling their warranties, and around and around and back and forth I've gone with no solution to get someone to honor the warranty on this motor (which I have in writing). They should be ashamed of themselves selling such a high priced product and then not honoring the lifetime warranties, which of course is part of the sales pitch when they want you to buy one! Buyer beware!

Now my husband’s bed is broken down on the outside and makes him feel like he is rolling off. The beds have never been what they are made out to be at all. The mattresses do not match. The rails at the foot of the bed do not match. They had to come and replace the motor on his bed, because whoever the idiots were that put it together put it on backwards. When they delivered the beds, the mattresses were of different heights so when they put them together, one was higher than the other and they felt that wouldn't be a problem. After we said "yes, it would" they brought us another one a few weeks later. The man that brought them just couldn't understand why I did not like the bed. I was also promised two pillows because of the problems, but to this day I have yet to receive them. I was also told I would be in a commercial for the beds. We have phoned twice this week and left a message with no reply. We have never had a worse experience with a company that refuses to do much of anything except sell a new bed. The massive complaints on various websites go to establish this is a policy that is done company wide here and overseas. Now we must go to the credit card company and at least try to get a credit from the company back to our account. Sad, sad.
You bed was not sold by our company and is not the current model of our bed, but we are trying to assist you. We do have an online parts website at http://www.craftmaticparts.com where you can place orders for replacement parts for any Craftmatic bed without having to call in.
In an attempt to assist you one of our staff members manually placed the order for you with the factory on 3/29 and the factory is drop shipping the order to you. I will contact the factory and get the tracking number and call you with it.
Edit:
I just tracked your order through UPS and it was delivered on 4/13 at 12:58pm ... That is shortly after you wrote this complaint.

Warranty on adjustable bed - The bed has been torn up over a year. I have repeatedly tried to contact a person for the warranty to fix my bed. They all will but you must have three or four hundred dollars for parts plus what the repair cost. It plainly states in the warranty that everything is covered for ten to fifteen years and for the first ten years. All I have to pay is fifty dollars for the home service. All parts are still under warranty but there is nowhere I can find anyone who will recognize this warranty. I purchased the bed on December 31, 2004, so as you can see, the ten years is coming close to an end. What can I do?
We will have someone call you to discuss your warranty. They will need you to have your warranty to review with you. It is possible you have N adjustable bed but maybe not a Craftmatic Adjustable Bed as our warranty does not work as you are stating.
Edit:
We received the copy of your Model II Warranty you faxed us. As it states, you are responsible for the labor. I do not know where the three or four hundred dollar cost number came from, but our labor rates are considerably less then that. We spoke with you and explained the correct cost.

I ordered a bed online. Before delivery, I was told by my mother's nursing home that they needed to have the specs before the bed could be delivered to my mother’s room. I called to get the specs, but the sales people I spoke with didn't know the answers. Eric of Craftmatic offered to speak with the nursing home and told me that he could provide them with the specs they needed. After Eric spoke with the nursing home, he told me that another type of bed, a low bed should have been ordered.
So Eric made the change. When the low bed was delivered to the nursing home, my mother was not able to get into it. It was too high! My mom is 86 years old and very disabled. The delivery people took the bed away with them immediately. Craftmatic did not return all of the money we had paid—they kept $290 for each bed, calling it a re-stocking fee. We were never at any time told that this could happen. There was no paperwork that stated this policy. Can they really keep $780 of my mother’s money like that? Is that even lawful?
Mrs. Moulton you ordered and released a normal adjustable bed. After it was released by you , you called saying it may not meet the specifications of your mother's nursing home. After numerous attempts we reached the nursing home which informed us the bed must be a hi lo adjustable bed despite that your mom dd not need such a bed. But this was their requirement. We had to reroute the bed you released back to the factory which cost $390 per the terms explained verbally and emailed to you. We then shipped your mom a hi lo bed. Upon delivery your mom wanted it to go lower than was possibly. Thus it was sent back to the factory at a cost of $390 per the terms of the sale explained both verbally and in writing. These are real cost caused by you not knowing what you needed to order which you had previously expressed was the fault of the nursing home not telling you what they required and what the Hi lo others there had that your mom wanted to match. All of this was explained beforehand verbally and in writing.

We had been happy Craftmatic owners for nearly 30 years. About 6 years ago, we replaced our mattresses (split queen). They seem to be wearing out sooner than the old ones, seeming to have a dip in the center, even though we flipped and rotated the mattresses regularly. We finally bought a 4" foam mattress topper that seems to work well, though that shouldn't have been necessary. About 2 years ago, we replaced our foundations. A few months ago, I heard a loud cracking noise when I lowered the head. This continued for a few weeks, then it stopped.
Now, the head of my bed doesn't raise or lower evenly. I have called several times, but I have not gotten a call back. Also, the wave massage feature on my remote doesn't work. This is very disturbing to us, as we have never had problems with Craftmatic customer service in the past. We really need the lift features and support of the extra firm mattresses, as we both have severe arthritis and other health problems. We are not sleeping well, and it is difficult putting in a full day's work after a restless night.
As I said, I called several times, but I haven't heard anything from customer service. We have always highly recommended Craftmatic in the past, but I'm afraid this lack of response is lowering our opinion of the company. The mattresses, foundations, motors, and remotes have long warranties, which were always honored. We would like to hear from you as soon as possible to rectify these problems. We really don't want to have to go the legal route, and we hope that won't be necessary.
Our customer service department will call you this morning to both arrange to service and see why you have not made contact with us.

Upon becoming disabled in 2004, I spent $8000 to get a top of the line split king Craftmatic bed. A few years ago, the motor quit on my massager. I contacted Contour and I had to send them the old motor and $30 and I got the replacement. It's now gone out again and I called them for the replacement (which is under a lifetime warranty) and they informed me they were no longer honoring Craftmatic warranties and the motor would be $149 plus shipping. They said now that Craftmatic is back in business they are no longer honoring the warranties that they were honoring when Craftmatic was "out of business!"
I then called Craftmatic who informed me that Contour is handling their warranties. And around and around and back and forth I've gone with no solution to get someone to honor the warranty on this motor (which I have in writing). They should be ashamed of themselves selling such a high priced product and then not honoring the lifetime warranties, which of course is part of the sales pitch when they want you to buy one! Buyer beware!
Contour is responsive for your service but we are contacting you to replace your more at no charge.

My parents, who I take care of now, purchased Craftmatic Beds 6 years ago. The purchase came with a lifetime warranty for the motors. Last December the motors on both beds stopped working. My father called and stated that he is not sure what happened. The lady asked him if he had a power outage in the house, and he, I am assuming said yes, (again, he is 77 and does not even remember the conversation, and remember that he called).
They told him that they are not covering the beds, that Craftmatic is out of business, and he was out of luck, and had to pay $150 for the service call, and $145 for the brain for each bed. I just called them, and spoke with a Dianne **, who is supposed to be the customer service manager, and she all but told me to stick it! I want a copy of the recorded conversation. She was nasty, would not let me speak, told me to take it up with Craftmatic themselves, that they are not covering the beds, and how dare I ask to speak with a manager.
When I asked to speak with her manager or get a name of who was over her, she told me that she would not give me that information. I informed her that I would have an attorney call, and she told me that she would not give him the information, that he can talk to their corporate attorney. Every time I tried to speak, she told me to be quiet, and that she would not speak with me, as I was not her consumer. I advised her that I am in charge of taking care of all their information. I even tried to get her to talk to Mr. or Mrs. **, and she refused to talk to them.
All we want is for them to fix the motors of the beds, that came with a lifetime warranty. When she pulled up the conversation that Mr. **, again 77 and has mesothelioma and kidney failure, she said she will not help as he said they had a power outage. I tried to explain to this nasty woman that he was not explaining it right, and to please send someone out to look at the beds. She told me fine, pay $150.00 and they would, but that they are not sending anyone, nor covering the beds!
This woman would not even let me speak, nor did she have any sort of customer service skills, nor did she care. When I asked again for her manager, she told me no, that she reports directly to the president of the company, and she was not going to give me his name, and hung up on me. At this point, the next step is a report to an attorney for taking advantage of the elderly! I do want an attorney to contact me at this point!
The company you are referring to is Contour Beds not Craftmatic. They are responsible for service and warranty on your parent's bed. If you read your parents warranty (we can provide you a copy) after year 1 there is a labor charge (the $150 you referred to) and depending upon the cause possibly some cost for parts. We wil happily arrange service for you. Our customer service manager will call you at the number you provided us.

I am giving them a half star. I bought the Craftmatic adjustable bed in August 2011. I finally received it in on September 28, 2011. After two nights of the most uncomfortable sleep that my wife and I had, I called Craftmatic at 4 AM; I told them that I wanted to return the bed as soon as possible. At first, they told me that I could not return the bed until after 30 days. I told them that I only had it for two days and the center of the mattress already started to flatten. I also told them that I have not slept in two days; I have been sleeping in my recliner, and that in my line of work it can be hazardous, since I am a police officer for the state of Connecticut.
They connected to a man named **. He tried to wheel and deal with me. Then he tried to tell me that it was my fault that I did not give the right dimensions of my bed to his staff. He finally agreed to pick up the bed; however it costs me $552.00 to return it. It's defective. Hello! So, I get punished for a crappy bed? Please, post this, and warn other customers that this company is bogus. Someone should investigate if they are reusing old mattresses.
Officer, we are sorry you are not satisfied. Unfortunately, your complaint is unfair. You ordered two 39 x 80 Adjustable Beds and mattresses but you actually owned, to your own surprise a 78 x 84 bed frame. We shipped you the correct merchandise based upon your specifications. Thus the beds were 4" shorter than the frame. That was the cause of the problem. Furthermore, we offered to exchange the beds for the larger size at no cost to you even though it was not our error. Despite our generosity, you elected to return the beds instead of receiving the corrected size. Furthermore, we made an exception for you by allowing an early return as an extended courtesy. FYI we never have and do not sell used mattresses.

They asked if it would be alright if they send me some info and a $500 certificate. Then, they set up an appointment to have me receive the info. A lady named Vicki showed up. She showed me a video and asking me all kinds of questions. She told me that I should have back surgery. When my doctor said not at this time, then she asked to see my bed. She immediately laid down on it with her shoes on. I have a numbered quilt, but there are not a lot of them. Then, she took my cushion off my couch and threw it on the bed. She asked me to lay down and put it under my legs. This hurt my back as I have bulging herniated discs and scoliosis. I laid down again on my bed, going on and on about health issues that I do not even have. I told her enough.
After over an hour, I asked how much her beds were. She said $159 a month to buy, no final price. I asked her again how much the beds were or to leave. She got very irate and told me $7000. She asked to use my phone. She told the person she was talking to, it was a matter of money. Then, she gave me some other prices and just used my phone again. She came down on the prices to $2500. I asked where I could try the beds to see the comfort of them. She said I could not. I had to purchase one and they would ship it. I asked her to leave. At that time, she became irate again. She would not leave. So, I told her to get out of my house, which she took her good-natured time about. She was still irate. We purchased a Craftmatic Bed approximately 6-8 years ago. We had the bed a short time before a technician had to come by, and he decided to change the mattress. This was done several times. After that, the motor went with the head and foot of the mattress raised and the middle sunk in. We also are elderly people. This company has taken advantage of the senior citizens. Contour or whoever purchased the company should have checked them out before purchasing them. They should be responsible for either making the beds so they work properly, or returning part of the money that was used to purchase these beds to the purchasers. I have no back problems, no problems with my legs or walking or sitting, and I fell out of this bed.
My husband (who does have problems) also fell out of this bed. This is a dangerous situation. If they cannot help these people without charging them a bundle, there should be some good lawyers willing to help bring a lawsuit against the company that purchased Craftmatic. At this point, Contour should be held responsible for what is happening with these "sorry" beds. Obviously, Contour does not care.

Purchased their very expensive king-size bed, which is really just two twins shoved together, with a "lifetime" warranty a few years ago. The mattress "heating system" was a heated mattress pad (seriously?). The massage system so loud it is annoying. But I kept the bed because I needed the elevated headboard. Now, the mattresses are totally warped, big sink holes in the center (though they were turned regularly) and the side of one slants so much that I feel like I'm falling off it. The other mattress is so broken down that when I sit on it I "hit bottom".
The company adds insult to injury by not honoring their "lifetime warranty" (not that I'd want another one of their cheap mattresses) and then my mattress added insult to injury when a wire along the edge popped out and cut my leg. We thought we were buying quality but what a joke! If there is ever a class-action suit filed against the company I'd love to be a part of it. However, selling out to Contour (or just changing the name and structure of the company), I don't even know if they could be held legally accountable.

The first bed I purchased from Craftmatic was in 2004. The purchase price for the bed with an orthopedic mattress was $3000. This bed came with a comfortable mattress and a full-size box spring/mattress pad. No problem with the first bed.
In Aug. 2007, I had a fire in my home and I had to replace the bed. The new bed was delivered Nov. 6, 2007. When the bed was set up, I immediately asked the tech about the box spring or padding that was comparable to the size of the mattress. His response was that the design had been changed. What the bed consist of is a metal frame with a thin pad over it to support a full-size mattress, and this doesn't support the mattress. Therefore, I now have a mattress that is protruding on one side. Also, the mattress is sinking in the middle.
Approximately on the third week of Nov. 2010, I contacted Craftmatic on the same phone number I dialed in 2007 to discuss the existing problem I am having with this poorly constructed bed. Then, this same day, I noticed on the refrigerator, was a doctor's appointment for the same time that we rescheduled that appointment for. My husband had a near heart attack just a couple months before this and he needed a stent put in, so it was important he didn't miss this appointment with the doctor. I was going to call them back the next day, but before I was able to do so again they, CraftMatic, called me (6/23/10 at 8:34 a.m.). She was just calling to verify this new appointment. I told her that I couldn't keep that appointment. And after my husband and I had a night to sleep on it, we decided we could not afford to go into such a cash venture like this, at this time. The lady was really polite. I told her about his doctor's appointment and why, and she said, "I understand", and then we said, goodbye.
On 6/24/10, at 10:23 a.m., the salesman that we were suppose to have the appointment with calls and I told him that I've had 4 or 5 phone calls from his company already, and that I had canceled that appointment, and I told him it was because my husband had to see the doctor. He said, "I thought you canceled because of his work. Now which is it? You are a liar, aren't you Mrs. S.?! It is impossible to have that many phone calls from us! I don't believe you." At this point, I was so angry I said, “Take me off your calling list,” and I hung up. At 10:24 a.m. he calls back and says, “You don't have to lie to me,” and I said, “Don't you understand what I said?” And I hung up on him again. At 10:25 a.m. he calls back for the third time and says, "I'm taking you off our calling list, forever!” I said, "Thank God,” and I hung up again. I was so upset when he called me for the third time. I was crying and I was shaking because I was so angry. I cannot understand how a company can hire people like this to work for them. I doubt if anything can be done because it's just my word against his and I don't even remember his name. I just have a log of the phone calls and the dates. I just wish someone could do something about getting this person fired because he absolutely should not be doing this job! He's a disgrace to humanity and he shouldn't be working with the public!

I don't remember the man’s name now, but I also agreed to let a guy come by to talk to me about their beds. I have had back surgery and can't sleep all night. The guy, who said he was a preacher, lives about 70 miles north of Jackson, MS. He came out and was only supposed to be here a short time demonstrating the bed on a tape, and took forever to get rid of him. His sale tactics were awful, and just wouldn't take no for an answer. I was coming up with all kinds of payment plans and even stated he had a repossessed bed that he could sell me for about 75% less than the new one.
I stood by my guns and refused to buy that day and said I would consider it for a later purchase, after I researched the product some more. He also gave me a $500 gift certificate for my wife and I. To my dismay, the bad items they have for free are not worth the shipping and handling you have to pay to get the so called "free items". I am glad that I waited and stood my ground, and to promise people the gift certificates for useless junk, this surely should be looked into and the company held accountable for this kind of business practice.

My husband is still paying for our Craftmatic bed. A salesman came to our house and guaranteed that my back problems would be eliminated if we buy a Craftmatic bed. He showed us video and sold us the bed on discount. Prior to our purchase, I slept in the recliner because our queen-size bed kept me in pain. I should have kept that old recliner.
I was told in 1990, I had scoliosis. I never accepted the truth until after we purchased the craftmatic. That salesmen lied my back condition worsened. In January 2009, I started having problems standing my bed sagged in the middle and I could only stand for approximately minutes at a time. I had to keep switching the mattress over. My hip and lower back pained. Last month, I discovered why I couldn't stand long. I have Dypsnea, shortness of breath because the thoracic area of my spine is not located on the right side of my back. As of March of 2010, I had to start seeing a Pulmonary doctor. Last week, she said my chest x-rays are negative, my blood gas test was negative, and my spine is reducing the volume of my lungs. I have to prop my bed on the left side of the mattress will a pillow otherwise I will roll out of bed.
I have to sleep toward the middle of the bed, next to my husbands Craftmatic bed, so I want to roll out of bed again. I have fallen out of bed several time. My mattress sinks in the middle and sags to the right. The curvature of my spine sits in that spot. Until now, I thought the back situation was mostly just me. I pained in the beginning but eventually I grew use to sleeping in our new bed. My husband told me that it might not correct my spine. He was right. All of my spinal problems came home to roost last year, I tried my best to sleep in the middle of the bed next to my husband to avoid the giant sinkhold in the middle of my bed or sleep on the outer edge, but I started falling out of bed but now my bed is one-sided. The highest side is next to my husband and directly underneath the curve in my spine.
Before buying this bed I couldn't feel the curve in my spine, now it feels like my pelvis has moved up to middle of my back. If I bend over I feel it. Whenever I am hurting it is always in that spot. I never contacted Craftmatic because my husband said they probably wouldnt trade our old mattresses for new ones. I don't believe that it is alright to con someone in to buying a bed. Because of their lies, I have to have back surgery and be under the care of a pulmonology and orthopedic doctor for the rest of my life. They should pay for my doctor bills because I don't have insurance, medicaid, medicare or health insurance and my husband has to pay my medical bills because I can't work. Meanwhile Craftmatic is still withdrawing bed payments from my husband's account each month and I am still hurting. We purchased this bed in California and moved to Iowa. The toll on the Statute of limitations should still be in effect. The shortness of breath, exertion, and inability to stand began January, 2009.

When I visited last month, I went to the Craftmatic Store in Caguas and spoke to the manager there along with the secretary and made them aware that the bed had not been fixed. They said they had no idea when the part would come in since the company had been moved to Europe. My father called me today and informed me he went to the manager again today and he informed him they would only order the part if they had to order additional parts for other clients. I am very upset since we were informed this had been done and obviously the part had not been ordered. My parents are in great need of their bed and this is unacceptable. I cancelled it within the allotted time by e-mail, though I must admit I'm new to this and I sent it to the wrong address as I got one back asking "are you sure its us John" so I 'phoned the company.
The receptionist understood me perfectly when I explained to her I wished to cancel, but she had to put me to customer relations, when I spoke to the girl there and explained again I wished to cancel, she replied "I'm sorry, I didn't understand a word you have said, hold on," and put me back to another person, after explaining for the third time the same girl (receptionist) said, I'm sorry, I'll have to put you through to customer service. I told her tha'ts where she already put me and I was not prepared to go round in circles all day asking her to deal with my request. Almost a year on come July the bed will have been lying here a year, its been wrapped up in plastic as good as I got it. I've asked for it to be picked up in 14 days or it would be put out as refuse, I didn't, that would be a sin to do so,
I don't have room for it, I had to buy another bed, for people who deal with the disabled, they don't have much compassion. I'm not paying for something I cancelled and can't use, any advice please, Barclays Finance Partners in Glasgow have been very good with me as they have paid for the bed, someone did 'phone asking if the bed had been uplifted, but that's all I've heard, nothing from "Craftmatic." I paid 100-00 deposit, then one payment of 115-00+as requested for one month, this was to be returned when the bed went back, this can be forfeited. I don't mind it'll pay for the paperwork, just try and get this bed out of my home, can I sell it and give them just what I get for it and that's the end of it?

Then I had two surgeries and never got back to them. Now, not only does it sink badly in the middle, but the covering is coming off the bottom mattress. All the stitching is raveling out and the fabric is separating from the form. I paid 4,500 dollars because my doctor thought it would be good for my many ailments. It has never relieved my back pain, as I was assured it would.
About 2 years ago, the control or something went out and the bed has been in a raised position ever since because it would cost over $100 just to have someone step into our house to check it out, not counting the cost of fixing or replacing whatever the cause. When the man first came in, he said we would be entered into a sweepstakes for a free bed. When I questioned him on this, he just laughed. I don't believe there was any sort of sweepstakes going on. How can they get away with that? I have it in writing, which they asked me to fax to them to verify, but still said they wouldn't honor the warranty. They said our only option would be to purchase a new mattress.
The kicker is that we have the bed in our spare bedroom for guests because we found it extremely uncomfortable, but couldn't bear to get rid of it because we paid so much for it. We knew we couldn't possibly recoup the amount paid for the piece. It gets used very seldom. Imagine if it got used on a nightly basis. I shudder to think what kind of shape it would be in. Several years ago, we were high pressured into buying twin Craftmatic beds in excess of $6,000 to replace our old king bed. I won't repeat the criminal techniques this company uses to sell their product for over twice a realistic value because thousands of complaints, several lawsuits, state and federal investigations, and now a senate investigation addresses these issues.
The problem I have encountered was getting this outfit to resolve problems with squeaky nylon bearing at pivot joints. When they came out, they used WD40 on the joints which was only temporary and collected dust making a greasy mess under the bed. The problem finally resolved when the bearing wore enough and loosened up. I found the company service reps very rude and trying to paint themselves as victims. Anyway, that was a few years ago. The beds worked out fine for my inner ear problem since I have to sleep with my upper body elevated. I wish I had bought from a different company that charged a fair price and offered replacement parts.
My current complaint is the controls have worn out and don't work due to bad connections. I want to purchase new controls, but the phone numbers I had for repair are no longer in service. One toll free numbers says to call another number and pay $5.49 a minute. What crooks! I finally found toll free numbers that you have to leave a message on for consumer relations for Contour beds. I have yet to get a call back. Another complaint is we never got replacement mattresses as promised in a year trial period. Another complaint is the joke of a massage device they charge hundreds for with the fraudulent idea it gives you the same feeling the back massage they give you with their criminal sales interrogation does.
Their website gives no information on how to get replacement parts or have them honor the lifetime warranty on the motors. I am in favor of a federal lawsuit against these criminals demanding that they refund at least half the purchase price to everyone that has purchased one of their beds, give a contact toll free number on all their ads and offer replacement parts at a fair fixed price or refund all the purchase price of the beds. The owners of this company need to serve some federal jail time for premeditated fraud. Why has this company been allowed to continue? Does anyone know where to get replacement parts or how I can sue for money back to repair the beds without cost to me for the lawsuit? I have no problem paying a fair price for replacement parts. But one would think for $6,000, these beds would last at least 20 years.
It needs to be published on the internet that if you ask the sales rep or hit person to leave, they must do so immediately or you need to call the police and have them removed. Any elderly should always have another person present when these crooks show up. Also, many stores carry adjustable beds from reputable manufacturers now and they offer trial periods, etc. Craftmatic or Contour or whatever name they switch to should be exposed on national TV, newspapers, and the internet. They have to cease to exist.

This was on a Friday. She told me the bed would be delivered the following Monday. I told her I needed more time to get rid of my current bed. "No," she said; they had a schedule to keep and the bed had to be delivered that day. I was never told I had a trial period.
To make a long story short, the bed arrived in 3 days & I had nowhere to put it. The men refused to take it back and squeezed it in my garage. A month later, they came back and set it up. Since then I have not had a decent night's sleep. I have fallen off the mattress twice & have been stuck on the floor until help came. The mattress is too hard & hurts the joints that come in contact. When I complained of this to the company, their attitude was this was not their problem. I was forced to spend another $200 for a thick foam pad to try and make it softer. I just tried to make the best of it. But now, the mechanical part is not working. It is dead, not moving up or down and no massage.
I cannot find a phone # to call for service either online or phone information. I am still paying off this stupid bed & it is hurting me physically & financially. I do not know what recourse I have. I've been in a very desperate situation since I purchased my queen size Craftmatic bed on 2/5/2005. Even though I told the two delivery men that I thought that the bed looked lopsided, they didn't seem to think that it was much of an issue.
I don't remember when I first called to complain about it. I did make a note of the call I made to them on 12/1/05. I called Customer Service and told them that my bed was lopsided and that I was not comfortable sleeping in it. I spoke to a lady who stated her name was Leah. She told me to turn the mattress over and switch the bottom to the top which I did with a struggle. This did not work. They really gave me the impression that they did not want to be bothered. What I did to make the bed somewhat even, I took two throw pillows and put them between the two mattresses on the left side of the bed (the pillows are still there...looking disgraceful). I have not felt comfortable in the bed since the purchase. I am still trying to figure out how to get in touch with them to correct this issue.
I was interviewing a client at the Dept. of Public Welfare about 6-8 months ago who told me that he had worked for Craftmatic Beds prior to the company's move to Maryland and change of name. I believe their name now is TriState Bedding. I don't know if this is the exact name given to me by my client. I happened to tell him that I have not had a good night's rest since the purchase. He said that he believed me and that he was one of the workers who put the beds together. He told me that the materials that were used and sold to the clients of Craftmatic Beds were not always new and that the bed(s) were often refurbished. Of course, that conversation made me once again feel the anger and pain from sleepless nights that I have endured for the past four years. He agreed at that time to give me the support I needed if and when I could bring this matter before consumer rights. I believe I have many more problems than I had before I purchased the bed.

We were looking to buy a bed and had called several different companies. When we called Craftmatic, I told them that my husband and I both had health problems. They listened and promised that their bed would help us, and explained to us why their bed would be better than select comfort, and therapeutic. Then, when we decided that we may be interested, the rep talked us into a king-size bed and said it would be better for us and would cost the same as a queen.
When I found out that the king was actually 2 twins pushed together, I was concerned and told the rep that my husband and I slept close together, and that I was concerned that the gap between the 2 beds would not work for us. He said he and his wife had the same bed and that we would never notice the gap, and that the queen would not work for us because if I wanted to raise my side of the bed, it would also raise my husband's side. This made sense to me then, but I still questioned him about the gap. He promised again then that we would not notice it. I trusted this after he said to try it for 30 days and see how it worked.
We made 2 checks out - one was down payment, the other half was to be paid in full on the day we got the bed. I've had to have my mattress changed. They did send me one but never received one for my husband or any more for me. When I had called and told them that I couldn't sleep on the 2nd one either after about a week, and that my husband never got his replacement mattress, they assured me that my husband's was on its way and that I need to give mine at least 30 days. I kept calling them with no answer.
Now we are stuck with a bed that we gave almost $6,000.00 for and can't use. The mattresses are sagging in the middle and all around uncomfortable. Our backs hurt worse and we both feel we've been ripped off. When I called to tell them that our mattresses were sagging, they wanted me to buy new ones. Haha, as if they didn't get enough from us already.
Then they changed their name to comfort something or another and called me, wanting to set an appointment to sell me another bed. I told them I already had one that I couldn't sleep on and for them to take me off their call list, and that I was on the Missouri no call list, and they told me to stop sending them post cards requesting information on their beds. We argued on the phone for a few minutes about this, and the woman was very rude and then hung up on me.

I have back problems and trouble sleeping at night. The salesman talked me into buying this bed, telling me it would take care of my problems. The bed is not comfortable. When the foot of the bed is raised, it just puts your legs straight up. There is no other adjustment. In other words, if you raised the head and foot of the bed all the way, you would be bent in half!!! The motor for the massager blew out within 2 months. They sent a new one, which is so loud that I can't use it. I also had to install it myself or pay a fee, and that was not easy. I quit paying payments, but got so many calls from HC Processing that I started paying again. I quit using the bed for a while. I decided to try it again and just can't sleep on it. It hurts my back too much. I want to return it and stop the payments, but they won't do anything. It is also difficult to get in and out of this bed since the mattress seems to move around on the frame, and it rolls. My back hurts from this bed. I cannot use the leg adjustment at all, and can't use the massager. I simply can't pay for something that I can't use. I cannot afford to get another bed if I'm paying for this one!

In May 2008, we had a person named T.K. ** come to our home to show us the Contour Adjustable Bed. During the presentation, Mr. ** realized that we were a gay couple and he started fondling himself, thinking this would either help his sale or something else. We ended up wanting to purchase the bed because of my severe back problems, for which I've already had 24 surgeries. We were told we'd have a 30-day trial period and that the bed would be delivered within 10 days. It took them 21 days to deliver the bed. We did not even receive copies of our contract until the bed was delivered.
On the 3rd night of using the bed, I sat up to get out of the bed and the mattress flipped off, threw me to the floor, and pinned me down against my dresser and the bed. It took the paramedics 30 mins to remove the bed and me. That same day, we called the company and told them to come and get the bed and what had happened. The company told us they didn't have anything to do with it now because they had sold our contract to a company called HC Processing (HelpCard). Since we had not yet paid anything for the bed except a $150 deposit, we told them that we were invoking the 30 days trial clause and for them to come and pick up the bed. They refused to do anything. We refused to pay for the bed and of course, we started being harassed by HC Processing 3 and 4 times a day.
In Nov. of 2008, we came to an agreement with HC Processing that we would start paying for the bed if they would clear our credit report and start everything new. They agreed. However, I received a copy of our credit report today and found that not only had they NOT cleared the credit report as promised, but that it still showed as a negative piece of credit and was not showing any of the good payments. I called HC Processing and was told that they never made such an agreement and would not abide by what I said was the agreement. This is just another instance of Contour and HC Processing making promises and then backing out of them.
The product is WORTHLESS to anyone, let alone someone like me who is totally and permanently disabled. The contract was a lie as the amount financed was changed as well, to reflect more than what was actually owed. It's time to do something about these people. It's time to get the new media and legal field involved. Also, it's time for all of us to start contacting the Better Business Bureau and the Consumer Affairs Office in Washington, DC to stop this company from being able to do business.

I have paid each month $100, and a few times, I sent $200 when possible. On 4/9/2008, I received a new invoice with the name of Contour of NE. I kept up with the contract with the same payments of $100 a month. In September, I called because I had not received an invoice from them, but my checks have been cashed. I had a hard time reaching them, but was given the number through a Craftmatic salesperson by a telephoning the Craftmatic people on the internet. I called this company Contour of Ne. I purchased a Craftmatic Bed in December of 07 because I was diagnosed with SM and other back issues. I had been sleeping on an air mattress because I could not sleep in my regular bed and I wanted to be able to again sleep with my husband rather than next to my husband's bed. Well, for the first couple of months it was okay. We got the heat and massage options on it and the massage really made it better for my back. But the mattress started sagging, which was why I could not sleep in my other bed to begin with. I have tried to call to have them come out to do the recommended upkeep on the motor for the massage several times over the last year and have never been able to get in touch with them. The mattress now needs to be replaced and the massage is now starting to fail and that is the one thing I need in order to help my back.
I want to be part of the class action lawsuit because I paid over $4000 for my beds and want to either get them to where they should be which would be fine with me or to get my money back in order to buy a bed that will actually help me. I feel that the high pressure sales methods and the high interest are unacceptable - I paid the beds off in October and was still hounded afterwards because I paid it immediately upon getting my bill, which should have given me until the due date before additional interest was accrued. However, that was not the case and after paying over $4k to pay the beds off - I had to pay yet another 175 dollars just to be done with them because I had to pay the interest that was accrued during the period of getting the bill and the due date. They said the motor had a lifetime warranty to it, so it could not go wrong. Well, about 2 years ago, I tried calling but could not go through. So I wrote online writing Craftmatic, which I can't seem to find the same site now. They never answered my letters. I even wrote them at the address they had on the bill, but they never wrote or called me back. So I have not heard from them, nor can I call them in any way. They scared them so bad they purchased the product to get them to leave. We told them they should have called the police or some of the family. They knew mom and dad had the money and preyed like a vulture on them. They would not let us do anything about it because they were scared of what would happen to them.
They never used the bed for anything except sleeping - we just now put a battery in the remote. They both had high blood pressure and other illnesses which this incident caused them a lot of fear and worry. My partner and I decided this was not acceptable so we contacted the Contour Bed Company by the 800 number on the TV add. By the way, the reason I keep saying Contour instead of Craftmatic is because the salesman told us that Contour bought out Craftmatic.
We were given a high pressure sales pitch while the salesman sat there and sexually played with himself. According to the ad these beds don't cost any more than a regular bed so we thought we'd go ahead and get one. The price wasn't told to us until AFTER the pressure pitch. We ended up with a cost of $5,000.00. Then our contract was purchased by another company for collection so Contour has their money now.
When the bed arrived and was set up we discovered it was 2 twins put together, but were not secured together in any way. We didn't know about the wheels and they didn't even lock them down to keep the bed from rolling. We got the one with the massager because we thought it would help with my back problems.
We were also NOT told that when you raise the bed up and down or when you use the massager that the mattress's would move. I woke up one morning and started to get out of the bed and just as I was sitting on the edge of the bed the matress flipped up and threw me off the bed and pinned me between the dresser and the mattreess. I ended up hitting the dresser so hard and I cut open my knees, sprained my ankles and worst of all fractured my left lower shoulder blade and tore a lot of muscles. I hit so hard that I had a concussion and had to have an ambulance take me to the emergency room for treatment.
We have had NO LUCK in contacting the company because the salesman took all our copies of the paperwork whey him. Even if the bed worked we cannot sleep together because of the large gap between them. We can no long sleep holding eacher.
I've contacted an attorney but he said the problem was that there would have to be others willing to come forward with expert and/or others who've had similar problems.
Now we too are being hounded by the company that bought the contrat is hounding us day and night. I told them to come and pick up the (explicitive) bed. Of course they refussed and explained they have a no return policy even though the salesman told us we had a trial period and could return the bed if we didn't like it for any reason.
I tried to contact an attorney for Product Liability and fraud as I'm on a fixed income and I am not about to spend $5,000.00 for a bed that is so dangerous it could have broken my neck or back and either kill me or make me more disabled than I already am.

He had us lay on an air mattress that was placed on our bed. Of course it felt good. Next he shows us pictures of a twin bed that only costs 800.00 plus dollars. Well my husband and I have a King size bed. So we said we needed a bigger bed. Queen was the biggest they had. It just showed a queen size bed with a comforter on it. It didn't show that all it was, was two twins put together. So instead of 1600.00 we paid 7000.00 for the bed.
Next problem was the financing. I thought we was applying for a loan, what we signed was the loan at 29% interest, I have been a title clerk at car dealerships for 25 years and I know I would never have signed for 29% interest rate. We had good credit at the time. All he mention was the payment which was around 176.00. We were going to sell my husband's motorcycle and make payments.
He said that this bed helped with back trouble and diabetes, if you feet swelled. Cramps in you legs. But before it was delivered we had to sign a disclaimer that they never promised it did all that. They delivered this bed on August 30, 2007 and now my husband's side is unsleepable. We have tried to contact them to come out and fix it and they keep telling us there is no one in our area, or we just hear the phone ring and ring.

my husband is not working so this money would have to be borrowed and he is now again sleeping at the desk as a box spring is not very comfortable

This is a nightmare. My mother who resides in Franklin County, Julia, has been harassed by Craftmatic, now Contour Beds, which pressured her into buying a bed from them in August 2007. We have worked to resolve this issue amicably, but with no such luck. First of all, the sales person contacted my mom who was on the "DO NOT CALL LIST", asked if she had Medicare Part A & B. My mom informed the sales person she did have Medicare, and the sales person says my mom would have a zero out-of-pocket, and Medicare would pay for the bed. We later learned Medicare does not cover this bed, even though my mom has medical problems would have warranted a bed of this nature. Needlesstosay, we are still under the initial assumption that Medicare will cover this bed; therefore, we contacted Dr., and asked if he would write a letter outlining medical necessity. Dr.'s office wrote us the letter.
My mother is legally blind, and was pressured in to signing a document to purchase this bed. She made countless calls to request for the Company to pick up the bed, they refused. My mother also informed the bed had broken down a week after she received it. To add insult to injury, the company is now stating that there is a weight restriction, and since my mom is over 300 pounds, this bed would not have been conducive to her needs. My mom received several calls a day from a third party lender that the account was sold in an attempt to collect the debt.
The Agency has threatened my 68 year-old mom, and I have asked my mom to begin hanging up the phone. (If necessary, the telephone company will supply a transcript of the Company that continues to make daily threats to my mom) The cost of this bed was $3623.44. I also want to explain that my mom has had near missed heart attacks from the threats. This is frightening to me, because I live in an entirely different state, and I am having a difficult time trying to get these harassing calls to my mom to cease. I am so angry and feel this Company owes my mom mental damages for their tricky tactics in pressuring her to buy this bed in the first place. I have all of the receipts from Craftmatic, and the denial from Medicare, which absolutely will not cover this bed.

When I got the bed they removed my mattress and gave me two mattress pads used to promote heat. After sleeping on the most uncomfortable bed ever, I tried to call the company to pick up the bed. They talked me into changing the foam inserts on the mattresses. the bed was still uncomfortable. But they refused to take back the bed. My husband and I decided to call the two thousand five hundred dollars we gave them upfront a loss. We refused to pay for a bed we were no longer using which by this time was in my living room. We started getting phone calls from a man named mr. R. who thought it was best to threaten us with arrest. The only reason the calls have stopped is because the phone number has been changed. we lost two thousand five hundred dollars and a lot of nights of sleep because of this.

After depositing the check into my account I received notice that there was insufficant funds on the Craftmatic check.

Boy was that a lie.
After fighting with them for about a month to even come and look at it they brought us another mattress and the only one that we could get for no further charge. I learned about this company through the NY Times job market. The ad was striking in content and quite long. It boasted of large commissions, a decent first year salary and a $2100 sign up bonus. The following week I attended a three and one-half day training class. On the first day you are asked to either bring a $200 money order or a credit card to pay for a sales kit, which might cost Craftmatic $25. To make matters worse, they deduct $25 each week for a total price of $400. The sales materials included some very high pressure selling techniques and many artificial responses to close a customer. In fact, the customer never does actually try the bed. We are told by the company to construct a reasonable facsimile in their bedroom! The whole presentation, including massaging your customer with a vibrator is supposed to take an hour and half. Once the customer is given the catalog prices, and if the sale is not closed, you are told to call the office and follow a 'pseudo' script, creating a new price point. An agent instructs you to juxtapose a discontinued model to the current model (Craftmatic versus Contour). If the sale isn't closed you are told to emote by telling more fictional stories.
It is clear this company preys on disabled people and seniors - wearing them down to the point of acquiescing. Certainly no working class family would pay $2000 to $7000 to purchase a bed, sight unseen. Their post close scenario instructs you to tell the customer not to mention to their children what they paid for the bed. The return policy on the bed is 5 days from the day the contract is signed. Hence, there is little time for the customer to return the bed, which is why there is such an inordinate amount of complaints. After the 3rd day of training class, I became dubious and looked them up at the BBB, but I couldn't determine if the number of complaints were justified based on the number of total sales, so I did indeed finish the training. On my first day the home office sent me into an impoverished area. The lady, who could not afford such a costly bed, told me she had simply called to enter a sweepstakes to win a bed. The lead was not properly vetted. The second day, the same situation: a woman who thought I was at her home to give her information about the bed she had thought she'd won. Then I found out about this web site. I faxed over a letter of resignation the following day and returned my kit via certified mail -- signature required. Hopefully, they will credit my account; if not I will execute charge back procedures.

My 95-year-old grandfather who lives in an assisted living facility in The Dalles was sold a $4589 Craftmatic bed for his apartment in the facility. This is a man who does not part easily with money. He and his wife probably never had a new piece of furniture in their whole married life. We were disgusted that they had been able to coerce him to buy something that he didn't need or want. Luckily, he is in a financial position that this did not cause serious implications to his care - but it certainly could have. This is a horrible business practice of Craftmatics to prey on the elderly!
He cannot operate the bed. He is unable to get into it, so he slept the other night half on and half off. He could hardly walk the next day. He did not have full mental capacity at the time of the sale. They removed his old bed, and there was no notification. No one in the family knows where or when these people contacted him.

I answered an ad for employment with Craftmatic. I drove about two to three hours for the training and spent about $300 for food and hotel due to the fact that Escondido was far away. I was told that my expense would be reimbursed once I receive my first sale. The training was for three days. I was concerned about the training because they were training us to tell these possible customers horrific stories about people who suffered so badly from falling off their beds and were badly hurt due to the inconvenience of not having an adjustable bed. But the worst was when we were told to tell a story of a loved one that had died or injured due to the fact that their bed wasn't good enough to get out of--and if only we knew about the Craftmatic beds we would do every thing to get one for our loved one. We were even told to cry while we were talking about our loved one's so- called story. I asked if all that was necessary to sell this so-called wonderful bed.
If you remember, their commercial states something to the fact: Wouldn't you rather purchase a Craftmatic adjustable bed for the same price of a regular bed? Well, we were told that they do have a bed that's the price of a regular bed, and the trainer showed us the bed and said this bed is just in case they were investigated, they do have this bed to show. The only reason I went through with this was because we were told that the consumers were the ones that called in for a sales rep to come and talk to them about the Craftmatic beds, and I feel if someone is inquiring about a product it shouldn't be a hard sell and no convincing.
Well, I went on my first appointment. When I got there I was scared to get out of my car; some gang-type members were very suspicious of me, and my intuition said do not get out of the car and leave this environment. So that's what I did. I called the office and told them the area was not safe for me so I went on my second appointment. I couldn't even find the place after about an hour and a half of driving--when we were told we would be working in our area. None of these places were in my area. I called Craftmatic and told them this job is not for me, and I was going to return my kit; I had given them a deposit as well. I returned the kit but never received my money. Instead I got letters from their attorney asking me to pay a balance for my kit. I called him and told him I sent in my kit, and I was waiting for my money back. I faxed him several times with the information from the post office, and he kept telling me, saying he never got it all. I've got now a collection on my credit report for a few hundred dollars owed to Craftmatic. Craftmatic needs to be stopped once and for all.
I lost my money for kit, hotel, food and time for this training. I had to look for another job. Every time I think of this it makes me upset all over again because I feel like a fool to even quit my job to start this so-called dream job. And again, it is on my credit report that I owe Craftmatic money. You can call me anytime for more information about this.

Then she showed the price and we almost fainted.
We said "no way". She was slick and dropped the price a couple times then said, "how much would you pay for it?" I said not even half, so she calls her boss and we agreed to $4000. She said I was not to tell anyone how much I paid for this bed.
Also if we would do a sleep study for one month we would get two $500 gift certificates for bedding and other stuff at WAshopping.com; all we had to do was pay for shipping. But this web site has nothing worth paying for the shipping.

I was sold a bed for my daughter, Sarah, who at the age of 16, was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. She had been suffering long before that, but the 'illness' was given a name at that time. We have been to several doctors, tried many things to alleviate the pain and discomfort Sarah was experiencing. So, when Steve Pelton came to my house and told me of all the wonderful things this bed would do, and how it would improve her quality of life, I went for it, but only after Steve looked me in the eye and promised me, that AT ANYTIME, I would be able to return the bed and get a full refund if not 100% completely satisfied. At the time of the sale, he promised also that he would 'try' to be there when the bed was delivered to make sure things went smooth. He never showed or called. He also told me that the old bed would be taken away as a courtesy. When I approached the delivery people about this, they denied knowing anything about it, so we had to get rid of the old bed.
I tried calling the salesman several times as it appeared Sarah was not going to benefit from this $4000 bed. I was told by him that I would have to notify the company directly. I did call the company, and the company representative that answered the phone advised me that they could not take the bed back. I tried to contact Steve after that but was unable to get through to him, (caller ID, maybe?). I emailed the company a couple of time after that to tell them of my disappointment in their company and how they do not stand behind their sales representatives' words. I have yet to get a response from them. Now I have to contact them as the particle board on the underside of the bed is broken. It makes me wonder if they will honor their own contract. I am very disappointed in this company and the poor customer service they provide. I was told they can't return the bed and sell a 'used' bed, but as I advised them, that is not my problem as that is not what I was told!

I began working for this company a month ago. Everything all the complaints mention about this company are true. The fact about staying at the customer's home for 2-3 hours is a small thing on the scale compared to the third-party, high-pressured sales tactics. They lie that they will pay $50 per presentation to the employee and $200 for what they call their sales kit which consists of a DVD of their advertisement that they air on TV. They burn this DVD themselves, which costs about a quarter. We must not forget the vibrator that maybe costs $25--and you have to pay for their contracts, otherwise known as their paperwork. The salesman must also pay for a small gift for the customers. The salesperson is also to make the customer feel obligated.
I have been taken advantage of for not being paid for the gas too and from Denver for a non-paid training class; I was promised gas reimbursement along with $50.00 per presentation, sale or no sale for the first 90 days of employment. My first check was $290 which they then deducted $50 for that sales kit, leaving me $240. I decided to quit, but they said they didn't have to pay me for five presentations. They were also to pay me back for the kit that I returned in person. They gave me bad leads which they said had checked out and were quality with credit checked in advance, but the people's credit was bad. How can they check people's credit in advance without the person's permission? They also lie to the customers, telling them they may have won a bed; that is how the salepersons get into the customers homes. I have been in sales for years and haven't experienced such liars. I haven't time for a company that doesn't care for its customers or their feelings, or for their employees, either. People need to know that Craftmatic and Contour are the same company. They care about the dollar and not the customers, who are usually ill. Too bad I was brainwashed for a couple of weeks. This company has zero integrity and no compassion for their fellow man.
Working for them, I have never cried so much and been so embarrassed. One customer's daughter is dying at age 18. Their salesmen told them they can afford to pay $65 per month for their sick daughter even though the mother told him she is now having to use the money to pay for her burial. I still cry for this mother.

He told me that it was unrepairable and then proceeded to quote me pricing of $2950 for a new bed. I agreed and a contract was signed. The bed was to be delivered on the 2/9/08.
When the old bed was lifted, it was noted that the only thing wrong was a Missing nut. This was easily replaced, fixing the bed. Delivery of the new bed was stopped and never taken off the truck.

A lady representative came to my mom's home and would not leave until my mother bought one. It is the most uncomfortable bed imaginable. The lady told her that she could save her money by getting a double instead of the queen bed that she had. Long story short, I think that this company takes advantage of older people, especially widows, and I would like to sign her up for the class action suit against this company.

This Salesman came to my mother's home and would not leave. After repeated attempts were made to get him to leave her house until she signed the purchase agreement. For four hours this salesman sat on my mother's couch.
My mother is 81 years old on a limited income. WHY DO COMPANIES PREY ON THE ELDERLY?

We bought our Craftmatic bed because of my husband's accident. Less than a year later the mattresses felt like you were rolling out of bed and they sunk in the middle. The company, after many months of me complaining, came and unzipped the mattresses and replaced an eggcrate foam inside, but the problem still remains. I called costumer service, was told me to look inside and if I could see the springs, then they did not fix the problem. I did; she said she would contact the company, and it has been two months with no word back. She will not return any of my calls.
I am very angry and want either new mattresses or total refund. Craftmatic will not stick to the warranty and are very rude to me. We wake every morning with pain and discomfort. This bed cost over $6,000. I cannot afford a new mattress.

On November 1, a salesman came to out home and sold us a Craftmatic Adjustable bed. On November 3, the bed was delivered. By November 5, we had decided that neither of us were able to sleep on it. It was an extremely hard mattress and even with the various functions of the bed, did not seem worth the over $3000 we paid for it.
My husband called and I heard him tell the rep, at least twice, that we would like to return the bed and why. She told him that we were within our 30 days and that they would send new, softer inserts for us to try.
It is now November 15. We were just informed that there is no trial period. They only ask that you try the mattress for 30-45 days before you request new inserts and the only period you can change your mind about the purchase is the 3 days following your signature on the contract. It is not designed to be a return policy on the bed, it is just an out if you decide you don't want to make the investment.

I certainly did not consider myself an easy target. But I have to admit that this guy made you feel as if you were a total idiot if you did not buy right then and there. I called cust. serv. two weeks later and requested they remove this bed and refund what I paid for it. They claimed it was too bad they don't have such a policy.
I do not know yet, but I believe by usuing this bed I may have caused some damage to my right hip. When I awake in a.m. I am usually on my right side. The remote has no illuminated buttons so you can't see what you need to push to lower , lower half of bed so I wind up on my side in a V position. Since March of 07' I have experianced great pain in my right hip and it now includes my whole leg.

My 84 year old father entered a contest to win a Craftmatic bed. While I was out of town a salesman came to his home for several hours and pressured him to buy a bed. When I called from Los Angeles, he told me he bought a bed and about the contest. I told him it sounded like a scam and to cancel the bed. He tried to cancel prior to delivery and then was advised they would take off the $300 delivery charge.
I called the following day and found out that the bed didn't get canceled because they said over and over we could cancel it if we didn't like the bed.
Actually the bed had to be canceled within 5 days of the contract date. It was too late to cancel before I even had a chance to try it. I asked my father to explain exactly what happened and he promised me he was told it could be returned.
They had lowered the price several times when the salesman was here because my father kept saying he didn't want to buy a bed and the salesman wouldn't leave. I think the way this company operates is unethical and deceitful. They are deceiving and pressuring the elderly.

A rep from Craftmatic Adjustable Beds made a visit to my 86-year-old grandfather's house about 3 weeks ago. After being asked numerous times to leave he would not. Finally after 3 hours he did leave. Never left a card as to who he was so we could not blame it on a specific person. Thankfully my grandpa did not buy a bed. Something needs to be done with these reps who try to take advantage of these poor, elderly people.
This was a big waste of mine and my grandpa's time. I have tried to contact these people in person and to no avail.

I am disabled and have chronic pain. I was looking for a bed that could help me get my rest. Well George Satter, came to our house and convinced us to give a craftmatic a try. We gave him a $200.00 dollar deposit. The next day I received a phone call stating that we would need an $1800.00 deposit in order to obtain financing. Our income is very limited with only my husband working, so this just wasn't possible. I was told my money would be refunded.
My husband spoke with someone from the company twice and was told each time the money would be put back in our account within 2 to 3 business days. It has now been a month and nothing has been returned.
I have called the company 4 times this week and have been sent to peoples voice mail, each time I have left a message asking for a return call, but I have yet to receive even one call back.

My husband and I purchased a Craftmatic bed Feb. 2, 2007. The salesmen Kurt & Bart were in our home for hours telling us the benefits of the adjustable bed which sounded great because of several medical conditions that I have and we thought that it was a great solution to several problems. We agreed to purchase the bed on a payment plan that was do-able. However the finance by a Revolving account is not the way to puchase any long term account.
On Aug. 31,2007 i made a payment by phone that I normally would have made online. The phone payment cost an addtional $5.00. But because the payment was not credited to the account until 9/04/07 a delinquency charge of $39.00 was also added. The finance charge was $111.59. New charges was $44.00-and by the way I do not know what that is, was also added. The original payment was $120.00.
When we got our statement -the previous balance was $3899.77 and our new balance is $3935.36. Also the finance charges which were already ski-high at 23.34% jumped to 29.99%. We were told that the contract was non-negotiable. I ask to speak to a manager but was told that the manager could not help becase we would the same thing.
I am disabled but my husband works and we are looking at payment that are not progressing to an end but are increasing. We cannot sustain this type of financial blow as our finaces are not flowing but stagnant.

We were told that the bed was very quiet and that is not true. The motor on the bed awakens everyone in the house, not just in the room where you are sleeping.
We were told that we would get a king size bed when indeed we received twins beds locked together. The mattresses are very uncomfortable. Since we received the bed, I have experienced my old back and neck pain coming back. The buttons that let the bed up and down does not always work and the mattress is sagging on one side.
We were given 5 days to send the bed back, but the 5 days were before we received the bed or had an opportunity to try the bed out.

July of 2006 I purchased a bed from Craftmatic. The Rep told me I was entitled to receive a free TV. When I received my bed the delivery man said the TV was on back order.
After a year of waiting and calling I spoke to a rep who told me that I did receive my TV. I told her "no, I didn't". My daughter took the call and asked the rep to please fax over this supposedly signed delivery form. My signature was FORGED! Someone apparently copied my handwriting to a delivery form.
I was in shock and very angry. My daughter spoke with the rep again who said they would investigate. She said she would talk to her manager and call us back in a week . It is the middle of September and I still haven't heard from them.

We were interested in a Craftmatic bed so we arranged for a salesperson to come to our home to discuss. We were told that the prices quoted would be good for a year but the salesperson said the price quoted is only for this evening 1/25/07. She was a very high pressure salesperson. Came with a coffee cake and a plant for me.
The price of $7000.00 was entireley too expensive for us. She called her supervisor, so we thought, and for that night only they would lower the price to $4900.00. We said it was way too expensive, she did a credit check and said we can afford it. My husband is a double amputee and she said the bed would be excellent for him. She was here over 3 hours, at which time we agreed.
The first week the bed developed a dip in the middle, the mattress, FOAM, was replaced. We still complained and was told we would have to get used to the bed. She would not return our calls as we were very dissatisfied with the bed, customer service said no refunds. My husband has a secular wound on his bottom and had it at the time of the sale. A visiting nurse, for the wound, has said that he needs to be in a hospital bed. Side rails for the Craftmatic bed is $900 which is outrageous.
Now a VA doctor has also verified that he needs to be in a hospital bed. We did not realize that there have been so many SENIOR CITIZENS that have been misled with high pressure salesmanship for the Craftmatic bed. The middle of the bed has dipped again but we have not contacted them as now we are at a point where we are ready to pitch this bed into the nearest dumpster.
The wire for the mechanism to raise & lower the bed keeps falling down and will not stay secured. Today I wrote a letter to Craftmatic. I will see if they acknowledge the letter.
We are out $5000.00 for a product that does not live up to its name. We will have to get RID of the bed, as now the VA will be providing a hospital bed for my husband.

Was contacted by the company during an extended illness..Sales pitch about all the health benefits I would receive from owning their bed. I was desperate at the time for any type of help to improve my health and after approximately 6 hrs I agreed to purchase the bed through a loan.
The bed is broken, will not work, and I have not been able to contact anyone to receive assistance even though I was told it had a lifetime warranty. The number listed on the website apparently has nothing to do with customer assistance, probably sales related only from what I could determine.
The benefits stated/promised have never been true, the bed was extremely overpriced, and and now cannot even use any of the features/raising/lowering, massage, etc due to being inoperative.
The financial strain has been great, the physical benefits extremely limited, if any. Unfortunately I was weak and vulnerable due to the illness which continues.

We called the company in response to a promotion for a chance to win a free bed. Next thing we knew we had a man in our house selling us a bed we could not afford, sight unseen. We feel we were pressured into signing the contract and when we tried to cancel we were told we couldn't it was too late, I was no longer dealing with the Craftmatic Company, but a finance Company, the best we could do is get the payments reduced and the time extended, so now we owe over 8 thousand on a bed that is very uncomfortable, squeeks terribly when it is adjusted makes horrible noises when the massager is used, and you can't really feel any benefit from the massager anyway.
There is no chance of ever getting it replaced as who would buy it from us, We can't just toss it out and buy a good bed we can sleep on not after paying for this one. We can't afford to pay for it, it is ruining our credit as we are on disability and on a limited income.
The salesman said it was the answer to all our health problems and gave the bed all these wonderful reasons of how it would help my husbands heart problems and his recent neck surgery and my leg edema, and help with our sleep apnea, the stress of how we are going to pay for this monster has only made our problems worse. I wonder how many other disabled and elderly people craftmatic is taking advantage of. He also told us if we tried to cancel our order he would get fired, at the time I felt bad for him, so we didn't, afterwards I realized he was just trying to make a sale.

Bed was delivered broken, with a bar protruding through the mattress and creating discomfort in our lower back.
Mattress was exchanged for a pillow top style that has a plastic foam core which sagged immediately.
This was exchanged for a foam insert that is too large for the zippered mattress and bulges in the center.
It is impossible to get a good sleep in this bed. The mattresses are slanted and either indented or bulging. Of course when I contacted them about another alternative, I was told that there are none and that they would not accept a return of the bed. I was also told that the Baltimore distributor I apparently purchased the bed from had gone out of business.
Paid $4,000 for backpain!

My handicap father purchased his Craftmatic Adjustable Bed under the impression it was covered with it's Lifetime Warranty only to be told that to receive a new mattress (because the one he has is literally nearly bent in half) he will have to pay an additional $500.00 because the distributor he purchased it from went out of business. He spoke to two different customer service reps at Craftmatic, one being the supervisor, both of whom were extremely rude with no interest in the consumer whatsoever. He has done nothing but complain about this bed since it arrived.
