This bed was purchased in 2002 at my wife's urging. I have two vertebra damaged and must sleep in a semi-erect position. I slept on the bed once. It made my back so sore that I never used it again. When it was delivered I refused to sign the receipt because I felt that it was too expensive, over $4,000, and had doubts that it would do me any good. The delivery men convinced my wife to try it for a while and left the bed. It was never used again. The cancellation period, three days, passed before I could convince my wife that I didn't want it.

I purchased Craftmatic beds on Feb. 08. I have contacted different #'s since August, then Sept. 10, '08 and I just keep getting transfer around. The mattress are one inch sink in the middle and the other raised on a whole side. King size beds (double) last week I was told to switch around the foam and to do this once a month. I was not told this at the time of purchase nor at delivery. I wouldn't make the purchase. We are disable and have no one to do this for us. I was told someone would get back, never did. Now Mrs. ** told me too bad since I am not getting my money back. I had a JC Penney's mattress before which was good for years no complaints. I thought I was doing a good thing with this purchase. We only weigh about 170 lbs each and don't think this is a huge weight for them to be in bad shape in a few months. Please help me. What can I do? I requested their corporate phone # and I was given consumers affair to complain. How can they take advantage of disable people whose only means of support is SS?

I wrote craftmatic for information on their mattress. My husband has asthma and back problems. Mr. ** came in and stayed about 3 hrs before we could get prices from him. We agreed to order the mattress. 1 double bed with control. When it came 2 young men delivered. The one who signed the delivery was William **, I think the last name is scribbled.

He informed me they had dropped my frame off the truck and bent it so they were replacing it with Grace ** bed which was the same bed. When I checked the papers after they had gone, her mattress was priced at 4,060, my mattress was priced at 4,301.60. They also charged me tax on shipping of .08 percent, her was .07 percent.

I called Craftmatic and was put in touch with Paul **. He insisted I had the mattress I ordered. I don't think so with 2 different prices. I have talked with him several times and got no where, so I wrote him a letter and he talked to my husband when I wasn't home. He told him to call me back, he hasn't and so I'm still getting the old run around. I just hate to get took and that is the way I feel. My family says let it go. I just learned a lesson but at 86 I believe I've learned most all I need to know about Cheaters.

I called Craftmatic to request information for a mattress replacement for a Craftmatic bed I had had for several years. Two salesmen made an appointment to come out to my home with the information. When they arrived, I was told that the mattress could not be replaced, bed was too old. They gave a demonstration about their updated product and I placed an order for a new bed. They asked for a $500 deposit which I gave them. I asked about the monthly payments and they told me not to worry; they would be through Craftmatic as with the old bed. I had paid off the first bed with reasonable monthly payments and no problems.

The next month I began receiving statements from HC Processing (a high interest finance company in Arkansas). I became very ill and was hospitalized several times during the period since Nov.2006 when I received the new bed and now (Sept.2008). I have paid $2100.oo for a bed which originally cost $3200.00 and now the Finance Company is telling me I owe them at least $4300.oo-more than the original cost of the bed.

At one time I was on a hardship payment plan of $78 per month which I was able to pay while very ill. Then the co. increased the payments to $120 per month. I explained my health problems and that I am 77 years old and on a fixed income. I live alone and I am in extremely poor health which I did not know in Nov.2006. I even offered to return the bed which is in excellent condition, but HC Processing said no. I am willing to pay for the original price of the bed; However, I did not sign to be overcharged by a high interest finance company. HELP!

I am writing this as administrator of my parents belongings and the horror story told to me by my mom and dad about the Craftmatic/Contour salesmen. My parents were in their 80's (last one just passed away) and these people came to their house and would not leave (to the tune of 6 hours) until they bought the product. They scared them so bad they purchased the product to get them to leave. We told them they should have called the police or some of the family. They knew mom and dad had the money and preyed like a vulture on them. They would not let us do anything about it because they were scared of what would happen to them.

They never used the bed for anything except sleeping - we just now put a battery in the remote. I would like to join a class action suit against them since my parents were bullied to an outrageous degree. They both had high blood pressure and other illnesses which this incident caused them a lot of fear and worry. I still am angry that they would prey on the elderly and could not get them to leave their house after many requests for them to leave and they were scared to use the phone to call their family.

They delivered the bed and promised me that I would get $500.00 in valuable gifts if I bought it that day. I paid them $3800.00, including a $269.00 delivery charge after being high pressured into buying the bed. I am still trying to collect the $500.00 in gifts which are such cheap articles such as eyeglass holders, clip-on magnets, etc. all under a $5.00 value with a $4.95 shipping charge for each.

None of the gifts that are pictured on the brochure that was given to me are included in the Craftmatic gift selection. Am ou another $500 due to this selection. The one king size twin bed still has a slight massage movement that stays on for several minutes whenever you get into the bed, even though the massage button has not been turned on.

This company calls constantly and I emailed them asking them to stop. I now have a phone that blocks their number, but they still attempt to call numerous times a day. I wouldn't have one of their beds because I feel their sales tactics are extremely annoying and they make no attempt to stop calling even if you request it. I'm seriously thinking of filing a complaint with the FCC.

No physical or economic damage, but we are annoyed to the extreme. It gets on my nerves to hear the phone ring constantly from a caller you don't want to talk to and can't get them to stop.

I had a failed back surgery 10 years ago. I've been through 23 surgeries since then. I suffer from severe sleep apnea, brain tumor, severe degentegative spinal disease. I suffer every single day from pain. About 1 year ago I had to stop sleeping in my regular bed because my back and legs were hurting so bad.

My partner and I decided this was not acceptable so we contacted the Contour Bed Company by the 800 number on the TV add. By the way, the reason I keep saying Contour instead of Craftmatic is because the salesman told us that Contour bought out Craftmatic.

We were given a high pressure sales pitch while the salesman sat there and sexually played with himself. According to the ad these beds don't cost any more than a regular bed so we thought we'd go ahead and get one. The price wasn't told to us until AFTER the pressure pitch. We ended up with a cost of $5,000.00. Then our contract was purchased by another company for collection so Contour has their money now.

When the bed arrived and was set up we discovered it was 2 twins put together, but were not secured together in any way. We didn't know about the wheels and they didn't even lock them down to keep the bed from rolling. We got the one with the massager because we thought it would help with my back problems.

We were also NOT told that when you raise the bed up and down or when you use the massager that the mattress's would move. I woke up one morning and started to get out of the bed and just as I was sitting on the edge of the bed the matress flipped up and threw me off the bed and pinned me between the dresser and the mattreess. I ended up hitting the dresser so hard and I cut open my knees, sprained my ankles and worst of all fractured my left lower shoulder blade and tore a lot of muscles. I hit so hard that I had a concussion and had to have an ambulance take me to the emergency room for treatment.

We have had NO LUCK in contacting the company because the salesman took all our copies of the paperwork whey him. Even if the bed worked we cannot sleep together because of the large gap between them. We can no long sleep holding eacher.

I've contacted an attorney but he said the problem was that there would have to be others willing to come forward with expert and/or others who've had similar problems.

Now we too are being hounded by the company that bought the contrat is hounding us day and night. I told them to come and pick up the (explicitive) bed. Of course they refussed and explained they have a no return policy even though the salesman told us we had a trial period and could return the bed if we didn't like it for any reason.

I tried to contact an attorney for Product Liability and fraud as I'm on a fixed income and I am not about to spend $5,000.00 for a bed that is so dangerous it could have broken my neck or back and either kill me or make me more disabled than I already am.

I was on the internet trying to win a 500.00 gift card. The craftmatic bed was one of the ads. So I checked it to have someone come out and talk to us. This nice old man came out and made sure both my husband and I was going to listen to his sales pitch.

He had us lay on an air mattress that was placed on our bed. Of course it felt good. Next he shows us pictures of a twin bed that only costs 800.00 plus dollars. Well my husband and I have a King size bed. So we said we needed a bigger bed. Queen was the biggest they had. It just showed a queen size bed with a comforter on it. It didn't show that all it was, was two twins put together. So instead of 1600.00 we paid 7000.00 for the bed.

Next problem was the financing. I thought we was applying for a loan, what we signed was the loan at 29% interest, I have been a title clerk at car dealerships for 25 years and I know I would never have signed for 29% interest rate. We had good credit at the time. All he mention was the payment which was around 176.00. We were going to sell my husband's motorcycle and make payments.

He said that this bed helped with back trouble and diabetes, if you feet swelled. Cramps in you legs. But before it was delivered we had to sign a disclaimer that they never promised it did all that. They delivered this bed on August 30, 2007 and now my husband's side is unsleepable. We have tried to contact them to come out and fix it and they keep telling us there is no one in our area, or we just hear the phone ring and ring.

My mother signed up win a craft matic bed, a sales person showed up at her house. She made the bed sound very good and my mother who has not slept more than 2 to 3 hours a night for years and was looking for a way to get sleep was talked into buying a bed. She kept asking what the coast of the bed was and was repeatilly told we will get to that later. The bed was delivered and her old bed moved out. Than it was found that she needed a special elec. cord to fit from the bed to the outlet, which the instalers did not have.

We had to go out and buy one, which would have been ok if the brd had been ok. My mon did sleep on it as a flat bed if you can call it sleeping. She was hurting so bad that she got up anf sleep on the couch for the next few days. The installers came back and one of them yelled at my mother because he had got in trouble with the company when the bed could not be set up. He than took the cord we had bought and said it would not work and he wanted to go though my mothers personal items to find a cord and was not going to take no for an answer.

My mother ordered him out of her house 3 times before he finally left, when my mother called the company and ask when they were going to set the bed up the person she talked to said that the same person would come out. My mother said she did not want him in her house and the reply was What do you want me to do fly out and set it up myself? My mother can not sleep in the bed and I feel that the contract has never been in affect because craft matic never hooked it up to the elec. They also sold the contract to another company who is calling my mother up to 4 times a day to get payment. My mother is on a very fixed income and can not afford the payments that they want.

My mother blood pressure is up and she is sleeping less than she was. She is not answering her phone due to the calls she is recieving. She can pay for the bed or her medication but not both. When I talk to her she is in tears it is tearing her apart. She doesent understand how people can do this to another person. If the installer had not left when he did my mother would have been in the hospital, she told me that she was geting light headed and very warm.

we bought a craftomatic bed as my husband has multiple sclerosis, is in a wheel chair and cannot even stand. our salesman came out discussed the whole bed with us...measured our existing bed and said the craftomatic would be the same height. he had me sign some papers and told us that by law mattresses could not be returned. they do have a return policy but he never showed it to us and never discussed it. the bed came and it was 8 higher than our existing bed which made it impossible for my husband to get into. i had to take off the mattress and we are now sleeping on the box spring.

of course this is not acceptable and we tried to reach them for two days to no avail. finally today i reached them and they told me that i had to have the signed return policy back to them dated by june 9th. not knowing anything about it i finally reached them today and they said they would not pick up the bed. the cost of the bed was $6300.00 which is really a stretch for us but bruce had been sleeping at a desk for 8 months and it is a necessity. i called visa and told them to put a hold on the payment as i am not paying for 1/2 a bed. the person with whom i spoke today was rude and firm about them not taking the bed back.

i am going to mail this form to them but she said they will check the postal date and not do anything about it. we need your help as the salesman totally misrepresented himself and never even discussed this issue. he was at our home for 4 hours and just dupped us. we need your help in solving this problem as i will never pay them that 6300.00.

my husband is not working so this money would have to be borrowed and he is now again sleeping at the desk as a box spring is not very comfortable

This is a nightmare. My mother who resides in Franklin County, Julia, has been harassed by Craftmatic, now Contour Beds, which pressured her into buying a bed from them in August 2007. We have worked to resolve this issue amicably, but with no such luck. First of all, the sales person contacted my mom who was on the "DO NOT CALL LIST", asked if she had Medicare Part A & B. My mom informed the sales person she did have Medicare, and the sales person says my mom would have a zero out-of-pocket, and Medicare would pay for the bed. We later learned Medicare does not cover this bed, even though my mom has medical problems would have warranted a bed of this nature. Needlesstosay, we are still under the initial assumption that Medicare will cover this bed; therefore, we contacted Dr., and asked if he would write a letter outlining medical necessity. Dr.'s office wrote us the letter.

My mother is legally blind, and was pressured in to signing a document to purchase this bed. She made countless calls to request for the Company to pick up the bed, they refused. My mother also informed the bed had broken down a week after she received it. To add insult to injury, the company is now stating that there is a weight restriction, and since my mom is over 300 pounds, this bed would not have been conducive to her needs. My mom received several calls a day from a third party lender that the account was sold in an attempt to collect the debt.

The Agency has threatened my 68 year-old mom, and I have asked my mom to begin hanging up the phone. (If necessary, the telephone company will supply a transcript of the Company that continues to make daily threats to my mom) The cost of this bed was $3623.44. I also want to explain that my mom has had near missed heart attacks from the threats. This is frightening to me, because I live in an entirely different state, and I am having a difficult time trying to get these harassing calls to my mom to cease. I am so angry and feel this Company owes my mom mental damages for their tricky tactics in pressuring her to buy this bed in the first place. I have all of the receipts from Craftmatic, and the denial from Medicare, which absolutely will not cover this bed.

I was looking forward to the bed because I had just came home from the hospital after suffering a stroke. I informed Mr. Cotton of that fact and that I handn't had a good night sleep since being in the hospital. He told me this would be the best night's sleep that I would ever have.

When I got the bed they removed my mattress and gave me two mattress pads used to promote heat. After sleeping on the most uncomfortable bed ever, I tried to call the company to pick up the bed. They talked me into changing the foam inserts on the mattresses. the bed was still uncomfortable. But they refused to take back the bed. My husband and I decided to call the two thousand five hundred dollars we gave them upfront a loss. We refused to pay for a bed we were no longer using which by this time was in my living room. I learned about this company through the NY Times job market. The ad was striking in content and quite long. It boasted of large commissions, a decent first year salary and a $2100 sign up bonus. The following week I attended a three and one-half day training class. On the first day you are asked to either bring a $200 money order or a credit card to pay for a sales kit, which might cost Craftmatic $25. To make matters worse, they deduct $25 each week for a total price of $400. The sales materials included some very high pressure selling techniques and many artificial responses to close a customer. In fact, the customer never does actually try the bed. We are told by the company to construct a reasonable facsimile in their bedroom! The whole presentation, including massaging your customer with a vibrator is supposed to take an hour and half. Once the customer is given the catalog prices, and if the sale is not closed, you are told to call the office and follow a 'pseudo' script, creating a new price point. An agent instructs you to juxtapose a discontinued model to the current model (Craftmatic versus Contour). If the sale isn't closed you are told to emote by telling more fictional stories.

It is clear this company preys on disabled people and seniors - wearing them down to the point of acquiescing. Certainly no working class family would pay $2000 to $7000 to purchase a bed, sight unseen. Their post close scenario instructs you to tell the customer not to mention to their children what they paid for the bed. The return policy on the bed is 5 days from the day the contract is signed. Hence, there is little time for the customer to return the bed, which is why there is such an inordinate amount of complaints. After the 3rd day of training class, I became dubious and looked them up at the BBB, but I couldn't determine if the number of complaints were justified based on the number of total sales, so I did indeed finish the training. On my first day the home office sent me into an impoverished area. The lady, who could not afford such a costly bed, told me she had simply called to enter a sweepstakes to win a bed. The lead was not properly vetted. The second day, the same situation: a woman who thought I was at her home to give her information about the bed she had thought she'd won. Then I found out about this web site. I faxed over a letter of resignation the following day and returned my kit via certified mail -- signature required. Hopefully, they will credit my account; if not I will execute charge back procedures.

My 95-year-old grandfather who lives in an assisted living facility in The Dalles was sold a $4589 Craftmatic bed for his apartment in the facility. This is a man who does not part easily with money. He and his wife probably never had a new piece of furniture in their whole married life. We were disgusted that they had been able to coerce him to buy something that he didn't need or want. Luckily, he is in a financial position that this did not cause serious implications to his care - but it certainly could have. This is a horrible business practice of Craftmatics to prey on the elderly!

He cannot operate the bed. He is unable to get into it, so he slept the other night half on and half off. He could hardly walk the next day. He did not have full mental capacity at the time of the sale. They removed his old bed, and there was no notification. No one in the family knows where or when these people contacted him.

I answered an ad for employment with Craftmatic. I drove about two to three hours for the training and spent about $300 for food and hotel due to the fact that Escondido was far away. I was told that my expense would be reimbursed once I receive my first sale. The training was for three days. I was concerned about the training because they were training us to tell these possible customers horrific stories about people who suffered so badly from falling off their beds and were badly hurt due to the inconvenience of not having an adjustable bed. But the worst was when we were told to tell a story of a loved one that had died or injured due to the fact that their bed wasn't good enough to get out of--and if only we knew about the Craftmatic beds we would do every thing to get one for our loved one. We were even told to cry while we were talking about our loved one's so- called story. I asked if all that was necessary to sell this so-called wonderful bed.

If you remember, their commercial states something to the fact: Wouldn't you rather purchase a Craftmatic adjustable bed for the same price of a regular bed? Well, we were told that they do have a bed that's the price of a regular bed, and the trainer showed us the bed and said this bed is just in case they were investigated, they do have this bed to show. The only reason I went through with this was because we were told that the consumers were the ones that called in for a sales rep to come and talk to them about the Craftmatic beds, and I feel if someone is inquiring about a product it shouldn't be a hard sell and no convincing.

Well, I went on my first appointment. When I got there I was scared to get out of my car; some gang-type members were very suspicious of me, and my intuition said do not get out of the car and leave this environment. So that's what I did. I called the office and told them the area was not safe for me so I went on my second appointment. I couldn't even find the place after about an hour and a half of driving--when we were told we would be working in our area. None of these places were in my area. I called Craftmatic and told them this job is not for me, and I was going to return my kit; I had given them a deposit as well. I returned the kit but never received my money. Instead I got letters from their attorney asking me to pay a balance for my kit. I called him and told him I sent in my kit, and I was waiting for my money back. I faxed him several times with the information from the post office, and he kept telling me, saying he never got it all. I've got now a collection on my credit report for a few hundred dollars owed to Craftmatic. Craftmatic needs to be stopped once and for all.

I lost my money for kit, hotel, food and time for this training. I had to look for another job. Every time I think of this it makes me upset all over again because I feel like a fool to even quit my job to start this so-called dream job. And again, it is on my credit report that I owe Craftmatic money. You can call me anytime for more information about this.

I wrote for information on the Craftmatic bed. They called and promised us each a $500 shopping spree if we'd just listen to the saleslady. The saleslady showed us a video about the bed and give us a quick back massage. We understood that we had a year to decide whether to keep the bed or not. Then she showed the price and we almost fainted.

We said "no way". She was slick and dropped the price a couple times then said, "how much would you pay for it?" I said not even half, so she calls her boss and we agreed to $4000. She said I was not to tell anyone how much I paid for this bed.

Also if we would do a sleep study for one month we would get two $500 gift certificates for bedding and other stuff at WAshopping.com; all we had to do was pay for shipping. But this web site has nothing worth paying for the shipping.

I can`t sleep on this bed very good at all and my wife moved into the spare bedroom with our old bed. I keep thinking of the $4000 I paid for it.

I was sold a bed for my daughter, Sarah, who at the age of 16, was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. She had been suffering long before that, but the 'illness' was given a name at that time. We have been to several doctors, tried many things to alleviate the pain and discomfort Sarah was experiencing. So, when Steve Pelton came to my house and told me of all the wonderful things this bed would do, and how it would improve her quality of life, I went for it, but only after Steve looked me in the eye and promised me, that AT ANYTIME, I would be able to return the bed and get a full refund if not 100% completely satisfied. At the time of the sale, he promised also that he would 'try' to be there when the bed was delivered to make sure things went smooth. He never showed or called. He also told me that the old bed would be taken away as a courtesy. When I approached the delivery people about this, they denied knowing anything about it, so we had to get rid of the old bed.

I tried calling the salesman several times as it appeared Sarah was not going to benefit from this $4000 bed. I was told by him that I would have to notify the company directly. I did call the company, and the company representative that answered the phone advised me that they could not take the bed back. I tried to contact Steve after that but was unable to get through to him, (caller ID, maybe?). I emailed the company a couple of time after that to tell them of my disappointment in their company and how they do not stand behind their sales representatives' words. I have yet to get a response from them. Now I have to contact them as the particle board on the underside of the bed is broken. It makes me wonder if they will honor their own contract. I am very disappointed in this company and the poor customer service they provide. I was told they can't return the bed and sell a 'used' bed, but as I advised them, that is not my problem as that is not what I was told!

Now, I am forced to be paying off a bed that is not benefiting my daughter!

The mattress has lumps in it and constantly is shifting out of place. Finally about a month later, a man came out to check the bed and told me he would get back to me after consulting with his company. Neither he nor the company has ever got back to me. Today, I had my daughter call and she was told the company is out of business and was referred to another company. The new company has promised to ship a new firm mattress and if we still wanted heat I would have to purchase it separately. We are not holding out breath.

The bed cost $3,535.10 and is financed at $5016.96 at 18% interest. I was not told that the finance interest would be 18%. I have a hard time sleeping in the bed in the present condition and wish I had never bought it. At this time I am having sciatic problems and am sure it is due to the horrible mattress.

I began working for this company a month ago. Everything all the complaints mention about this company are true. The fact about staying at the customer's home for 2-3 hours is a small thing on the scale compared to the third-party, high-pressured sales tactics. They lie that they will pay $50 per presentation to the employee and $200 for what they call their sales kit which consists of a DVD of their advertisement that they air on TV. They burn this DVD themselves, which costs about a quarter. We must not forget the vibrator that maybe costs $25--and you have to pay for their contracts, otherwise known as their paperwork. The salesman must also pay for a small gift for the customers. The salesperson is also to make the customer feel obligated.

I have been taken advantage of for not being paid for the gas too and from Denver for a non-paid training class; I was promised gas reimbursement along with $50.00 per presentation, sale or no sale for the first 90 days of employment. My first check was $290 which they then deducted $50 for that sales kit, leaving me $240. I decided to quit, but they said they didn't have to pay me for five presentations. They were also to pay me back for the kit that I returned in person. They gave me bad leads which they said had checked out and were quality with credit checked in advance, but the people's credit was bad. How can they check people's credit in advance without the person's permission? They also lie to the customers, telling them they may have won a bed; that is how the salepersons get into the customers homes. I have been in sales for years and haven't experienced such liars. I haven't time for a company that doesn't care for its customers or their feelings, or for their employees, either. People need to know that Craftmatic and Contour are the same company. They care about the dollar and not the customers, who are usually ill. Too bad I was brainwashed for a couple of weeks. This company has zero integrity and no compassion for their fellow man.

Working for them, I have never cried so much and been so embarrassed. One customer's daughter is dying at age 18. Their salesmen told them they can afford to pay $65 per month for their sick daughter even though the mother told him she is now having to use the money to pay for her burial. I still cry for this mother.

We bought two 39 x 80 Deluxe Sleep Systems with adjustable density mattresses on 2/20/07, that also included vibrators and heated mattress pads. They were not delivered until the following Tuesday.

We were disappointed in the beds and felt they were not worth the $5700 we paid for them so I called and asked them to pick them up. I was told that we couldn't cancel because our 5 days was up. We did not even received them within 5 days of the order.

The beds that were delivered were 39 x 74 instead of 39 x 80 but we didn't realize that until the delivery man had left. They offered to exchange, but since they had to come from Denver, we decided to just keep what we had. Naturally when they sent the mattress pads, they sent them according to our order, so we had to return them and get the other size.

The beds don't, and never have, worked correctly with the foot control. Instead of bending at the knee they go straight up. I have called Craftmatic several times, and they keep making excuses and telling me it will take a while for it to work right!

I decided to give them one more call only to find out that Craftmatic is out of business and another company is covering the warranties. They are suppposed to send someone out next week to see about this, but I'll believe it when I see them coming. He told me that it was unrepairable and then proceeded to quote me pricing of $2950 for a new bed. I agreed and a contract was signed. The bed was to be delivered on the 2/9/08.

When the old bed was lifted, it was noted that the only thing wrong was a Missing nut. This was easily replaced, fixing the bed. Delivery of the new bed was stopped and never taken off the truck.

The deliveryman notified the dispatcher and we got a phone call from the area general manager of Craftmatic who proceeded to tell my daughter that I would have to pay for the bed since I had not canceled the bed within 5 days of signing the contract. She told him the repairman should have fixed it instead of selling me a new bed. He said the person that came to the house was not a repairman but a salesman, and that I should have known that.

The manager said that I would have to pay for the bed or at least a $500 delivery charge. He was very aggressive and belligerent. I believe the way this entire situation was handled was a misrepresentation on the part of Craftmatic. I contacted them for a repairman. The salesmen Kurt & Bart were in our home for hours telling us the benefits of the adjustable bed which sounded great because of several medical conditions that I have and we thought that it was a great solution to several problems. We agreed to purchase the bed on a payment plan that was do-able. However the finance by a Revolving account is not the way to puchase any long term account.

On Aug. 31,2007 i made a payment by phone that I normally would have made online. The phone payment cost an addtional $5.00. But because the payment was not credited to the account until 9/04/07 a delinquency charge of $39.00 was also added. The finance charge was $111.59. New charges was $44.00-and by the way I do not know what that is, was also added. The original payment was $120.00.

When we got our statement -the previous balance was $3899.77 and our new balance is $3935.36. Also the finance charges which were already ski-high at 23.34% jumped to 29.99%. We were told that the contract was non-negotiable. I ask to speak to a manager but was told that the manager could not help becase we would the same thing.

I am disabled but my husband works and we are looking at payment that are not progressing to an end but are increasing. We cannot sustain this type of financial blow as our finaces are not flowing but stagnant.

We were told that the bed was very quiet and that is not true. The motor on the bed awakens everyone in the house, not just in the room where you are sleeping.

We were told that we would get a king size bed when indeed we received twins beds locked together. The mattresses are very uncomfortable. Since we received the bed, I have experienced my old back and neck pain coming back. The buttons that let the bed up and down does not always work and the mattress is sagging on one side.

We were given 5 days to send the bed back, but the 5 days were before we received the bed or had an opportunity to try the bed out.

July of 2006 I purchased a bed from Craftmatic. The Rep told me I was entitled to receive a free TV. When I received my bed the delivery man said the TV was on back order.

After a year of waiting and calling I spoke to a rep who told me that I did receive my TV. I told her "no, I didn't". My daughter took the call and asked the rep to please fax over this supposedly signed delivery form. My signature was FORGED! Someone apparently copied my handwriting to a delivery form.

I was in shock and very angry. My daughter spoke with the rep again who said they would investigate. She said she would talk to her manager and call us back in a week . It is the middle of September and I still haven't heard from them.

We were interested in a Craftmatic bed so we arranged for a salesperson to come to our home to discuss. We were told that the prices quoted would be good for a year but the salesperson said the price quoted is only for this evening 1/25/07. She was a very high pressure salesperson. Came with a coffee cake and a plant for me.

The price of $7000.00 was entireley too expensive for us. She called her supervisor, so we thought, and for that night only they would lower the price to $4900.00. We said it was way too expensive, she did a credit check and said we can afford it. My husband is a double amputee and she said the bed would be excellent for him. She was here over 3 hours, at which time we agreed.

The first week the bed developed a dip in the middle, the mattress, FOAM, was replaced. We still complained and was told we would have to get used to the bed. She would not return our calls as we were very dissatisfied with the bed, customer service said no refunds. My husband has a secular wound on his bottom and had it at the time of the sale. A visiting nurse, for the wound, has said that he needs to be in a hospital bed. Side rails for the Craftmatic bed is $900 which is outrageous.

Now a VA doctor has also verified that he needs to be in a hospital bed. We did not realize that there have been so many SENIOR CITIZENS that have been misled with high pressure salesmanship for the Craftmatic bed. The middle of the bed has dipped again but we have not contacted them as now we are at a point where we are ready to pitch this bed into the nearest dumpster.

The wire for the mechanism to raise & lower the bed keeps falling down and will not stay secured. Today I wrote a letter to Craftmatic. I will see if they acknowledge the letter.

We are out $5000.00 for a product that does not live up to its name. We will have to get RID of the bed, as now the VA will be providing a hospital bed for my husband.

Was contacted by the company during an extended illness..Sales pitch about all the health benefits I would receive from owning their bed. I was desperate at the time for any type of help to improve my health and after approximately 6 hrs I agreed to purchase the bed through a loan.

The bed is broken, will not work, and I have not been able to contact anyone to receive assistance even though I was told it had a lifetime warranty. The number listed on the website apparently has nothing to do with customer assistance, probably sales related only from what I could determine.

The benefits stated/promised have never been true, the bed was extremely overpriced, and and now cannot even use any of the features/raising/lowering, massage, etc due to being inoperative.

The financial strain has been great, the physical benefits extremely limited, if any. Unfortunately I was weak and vulnerable due to the illness which continues.

We called the company in response to a promotion for a chance to win a free bed. Next thing we knew we had a man in our house selling us a bed we could not afford, sight unseen. We feel we were pressured into signing the contract and when we tried to cancel we were told we couldn't it was too late, I was no longer dealing with the Craftmatic Company, but a finance Company, the best we could do is get the payments reduced and the time extended, so now we owe over 8 thousand on a bed that is very uncomfortable, squeeks terribly when it is adjusted makes horrible noises when the massager is used, and you can't really feel any benefit from the massager anyway.

There is no chance of ever getting it replaced as who would buy it from us, We can't just toss it out and buy a good bed we can sleep on not after paying for this one. We can't afford to pay for it, it is ruining our credit as we are on disability and on a limited income.

The salesman said it was the answer to all our health problems and gave the bed all these wonderful reasons of how it would help my husbands heart problems and his recent neck surgery and my leg edema, and help with our sleep apnea, the stress of how we are going to pay for this monster has only made our problems worse. I wonder how many other disabled and elderly people craftmatic is taking advantage of. He also told us if we tried to cancel our order he would get fired, at the time I felt bad for him, so we didn't, afterwards I realized he was just trying to make a sale.

My mother was skeptical about this windfall gift and questioned the marketer, at least 3 times, whether this was a ploy designed to obtain a sales appointment etc. She was told absolutely not, that she had won a bed.

My mother asked if I would be available on the day she was to receive the new bed. I agreed. Just prior to the salesperson's arrival, I went to the Consumer affairs website and found the article on Craftmatic and its penalties in West Virginia. I immediately called the Craftmatic office to cancel the appointment.

The salesperson demanded that I give them all my mother's personal information, which I refused. I gave them her name and phone number and told them to contact the salesperson by cell phone. The craftmatic rep on the phone said that would be impossible. Within 2 minutes the outside sales rep for Craftmatic shows up at the front door. He questioned why we were cancelling. I told him to contact his office.

He then asked if he could come inside and use the phone to verify the cancellation. I told him no that he could use my cell phone outside while I listened. He then admitted that he had his own cell phone in his car. I am convinced that this was a ploy to gain acces to my elderly mother. Within 5 minutes of his departure, we received a call from his supervisor who demanded to know why we were cancelling. I told him to stop contacting this number and he abruptly hung up!!

On 4/25/02, I called and spoke to Diane. I told her the problem, she said the correct bed would be exchanged on Friday, 4/26/02. I told her it would have to on Saturday, she said they did not work on the weekends. So I said after 4:00 p.m. on Friday. She then called and talked to my husband on 4/25/02 and told him the same thing, after 4:00 p.m. on 4/26/02. Then another male, my husband did not get his name, called and told my husband after 4:00 p.m. on 4/26/02.

I left my job early on Friday, 4/26/02, because we did not want to miss the delivery. However, when we got home a message from Craftmatic, Carl, stated the delivery would be between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. Since we were at work we could not return the call. We called the number Carl left, but since they are on east coast time there was no answer. We were home until about 5:30 p.m. on 4/26/02 and no one came to deliver. Saturday morning I called the consumer affairs office of Craftmatic to leave a message, however received the message the office will be closed until 5/6/02. I then left a message with the sales representative, Mr. Al Joseph at 800-448-7489, ext #509. We used a credit card to pay in full.
