We were excited to purchase our Birch Mattress after all our research we did. Birch seem like a perfect choice because it was natural and very firm. Our last mattress was soft and we had a lot of backache from it so we were excited about the birch mattress being firm. When we first got it the mattress was almost too firm but we knew it would take some time to break in so after a couple months, it was perfect.

But fast forward to owning it about a year and it was getting way too soft. Like the internal components were giving up, sides bulging out, no support and we were having worse backaches than our old mattress. We figured it must be a defective mattress and tried to go through the warranty process and we were denied. The only reason I was comfortable spending over $2000 on a mattress was because it had a 25 year warranty just to find out that the warranty is useless because they won’t back it up even when their product fails within a year. Buyer beware. Birch is a joke. They do not support their customers and their mattresses are low quality and do not last even a year.

We were so excited about this mattress and ordered in plenty of time for our move in date. It arrived poorly packed and damaged and we couldn’t get through to customer service for a full 7 days. They didn’t answer phone or email (except an auto email saying they would respond in 3 days—not true, only emailed after I send an angry chat 7d later). It was a process to even get a replacement that took several more days then there were issues getting it picked up. Really wanted to like the company but for such an expensive product the customer service was really disappointing. Our replacement won’t arrive until well after our move date now. We ordered some Naturepedic mattresses that arrived promptly and with good packaging, if I were you I’d stick with that company.

      Claims Handling

      Reviewed May 2, 2022

This mattress is a joke. The springs pop out of the uneven corners - which slant down (mighty odd). Springs pop out of the sides and the mattress dips in the middle - the springs even show through a fitted sheet. Filed a claim for the refund during the 100 day refund period. Birch was supposed to pick up the mattress but never made arrangements to do so - I never received a refund either. I had the mattress in my storage and have been trying to pursue them picking it. They now claim that it is way past the 100 days and they won't get it. Not sure what kind of company this is, but surely one that does not care about producing a decent product or care about their reputation, yet alone think about their customers. This company is owned by Helix Mattresses - obviously the customer service there will be similar.
