I have had multiple mortgages for 20+ years with BB&T (now with Suntrust and Truist) and they were great. But now that they have merged with SunTrust it is a nightmare. They have lost one of my mortgage payments and although I've provided proof from my Truist checking account that they (Truist) received and processed the payment, they refuse to acknowledge the payment and instead say I must make late payments in addition to my mortgage payment. Their excuse is, "we are in the middle of a merger." I can no longer recommend BB&T/SunTrust/Truist for financial services because they can't keep their books. A bank who cannot manage basic accounting!

On October 12th, someone wrote 3 fraudulent checks on my account. I saw that on the 13th and I called SunTrust that same day and spoke with someone after waiting on hold for almost 2 hours. SunTrust did not close my account and allow the fraudsters to cash out more checks on 13th, 14th and 15th of October of 2021. I called them each day to report the transaction but somehow SunTrust allowed them to do that 4 days in a row. I lost $7800 and until today I never received any of my stolen money and I never heard back from SunTrust. Please stay away from this bank.

Since the transition was made from Suntrust to Truist everything get worse. I have to called so many times and took so many times before you can reach the customer service. I’ve been transferred 6 times and the waiting is horrible. I feel sorry to the elderly people who will called and wait the same thing I do. I went to the different atm machine that supposed to be charged me three dollar but they ended charge me three times which they called help me at all. This is the worse. Very worse service at all!!!! I wish the transition was not made!

Couldn't access my banking information on my mobile device for months. They made the Suntrust app inaccessible. The new Truist app was a worthless piece of ** and was developed by a classroom of kindergartners. I could not log into my account on the new app. I finally get access to my account. I find out I have been charged a monthly maintenance fee I never had before during all the months I could not access my account.
I drive to my previous Suntrust branch, they are closed. I drive to a BB&T they said they can't help me. I drive to ANOTHER Suntrust branch that is open, they said they "DON'T HAVE A BANKER." He refers me to another location (great just what I want to do on Friday drive around for 3 hours accomplishing nothing.) He gives me their phone number to call and see if they have a banker available. Joke's on me. The guy wrote down a number that didn't even work. I show up at the location that he referred me to. No banker working there either.
Most useless piece of ** company I have ever seen, I cannot believe that this is how the business is operating. How the hell do they even employ people? Incompetence all around, horrible software, wrong times and locations listed on their website. Inaccurate information posted everywhere. Inconvenient, and worthless. Would rather put my money in a shoebox under my bed. DO NOT. I REPEAT. DO NOT. USE TRUIST. SAVE YOURSELF.

SunTrust’s recent change to Truist has been a definite step backwards. I find the Truist app difficult to navigate and today I had an issue with my SunTrust debit card working properly. I went in to the branch and was told they could call customer support and wait a half hour on hold with me, or I could do it on my own. I called own my own and waited nearly 30 minutes for someone to answer and they were unable to address the issue I had. They suggested I retry my card and call back if I have the issue again. If I continue to have issues, I think I will move to a more Customer Friendly bank! On a scale of 1-5, so far I would rate them at 2 or less

First off I wish I would’ve read these reviews before today. I honestly think it’s sad how it’s legal for these types of things to happen. Yesterday I tried going to my online bank app “Truist” and I couldn’t get in all day. Called today, on hold for well over 30 minutes to be told my account is frozen and they have no further information for me. I asked to speak with a Supervisor. They put me on hold for another 20 minutes. Finally gets on the phone with him and he tells me he don’t know anything, but I’ll be getting a letter in the mail. “Hold-up” sir are you serious??? I received a direct deposit. It’s one week before Christmas and all I get is I’ll get a letter from the fraud dept. ** do mean… I said, "I’ll just go to bank in the morning and get my money. I don’t care what you do with the account." He says “you still may not be able to get your funds. It’ll come in a check.” I’m completely blown… It should be a crime for these types of banks/crooks. Suntrust Truist ** ever you should be ashamed of yourself.

This was (at one time) a great bank, but since they've merged with BB&T greed and desperation has set in. After 30 minutes on hold, I come to find out that after a rather large deposit was made, they put a hold on 60% of it after it had already cleared my account. In the 24 years I've been with these people, there's never been a problem. I hope they enjoyed the $76.00 in late fees because I'm closing this account and finding another bank.

Suntrust now Truist took a total of $300 fees out of my account. In January 2018 the same day I closed my money market, I specifically set up my checking account to meet the criteria to not be charged fees. I just noticed they have been taking $20 per month since September 2020. The first excuse was that my account was linked to my money market but I had my paperwork from January 2018 and the fees didn’t start until September 2020. I believe they changed their rules and interestingly enough I still met the criteria for no maintenance fees all along.
After three trips up there, they have returned all but $25. My first trip meeting the bank associate made a few clicks on her computer linking my checking to my credit card and said, “it won’t happen from here on out”, and I asked about my $300. She replied, “I can only go back one month”, and I thought if I can't trust them, and I say “close the account”. Then I was told I would get my money back, but $25 is still missing. When I opened my first account with this bank, it was called Trust Company. Now, I realize why they had to drop the word trust. I shouldn’t have to police my money from my own bank.

Today I discovered a Suntrust Bank mistake in the amount of $288.75 while balancing my checking account. I was placed on hold 25 minutes, then transferred, then told to call a different number in claims, another 20 minutes, then told by claims they see the problem but cant correct it and have to get someone else, another 30 minutes, then told he can't correct it either, have to transfer me to another person and after 20 more minutes on hold, I told them forget it, I hung up. I missed calls from contractors while tying up my phone line and wasted the afternoon for nothing. Now I have to drive to a branch tomorrow and get it corrected. Absolutely ridiculous. Not covid related, incompetence and poor policy related.

I have been banking with Suntrust for about 30 years. They convinced me a few years ago to switch my credit card to suntrust telling me they have buyer protections. I switched. But the credit card protection is a nightmare and a joke. One time I paid for a service with my credit card. The provider charged me and did not complete the job. When I called him back he said he could not complete the job, it was beyond his experience, but I had already paid him with my credit card. I called suntrust to charge back. They told me they do not provide protection if the provider does not want to refund the money?
This last time had plumbers come fix a leak. They charged me and told me the leak was fixed. A month later when I had guests over they discovered that the 1st floor bathroom was leaking and it damaged my wood floor. Tried to work out the cost of the damage with the plumbers. They send a notarized affidavit clearly noting that due to the erroneous service my water bill was high. They swore the affidavit get my water company to void the high water bill. In lieu of refunding my credit card bill they had charged me when they failed to fix the leak. Called Suntrust. The agent told me that I was covered within 6 month of the transaction. I filed a chargeback. After almost 2 month suntrust emailed me to say that they only cover for 60 day period which was not what they told me when I filed the charge back.
Suntrust credit card is the worst I have ever had and I am determined to pay it off and close out the credit card, and after that I will start migrating my account away from suntrust to another bank because despite the fact that I have been with suntrust for 30 years, I cannot be with a bank that does not appreciate its customers and eos everything not to protect its customers in credit card issues where the paid for services were not provided!!
After I pay out and close my suntrust credit card, I will leave suntrust. I now can't stand the fact that they charge me thousands of dollars on interest rate on my credit card per year yet can't cover me in a $300 and some odd $ plumbing dispute where the plumber clearly stated in an affidavit to the water company that their defective/lack of service caused the increased water bill. Bottom line Suntrust seems very likely never to protect the customer when a service was not provided in the case of a charge back. After I close out my suntrust credit card, I will NEVER have a suntrust credit card again

I recently opened a savings account to go with my current checking account here (was with BB&T before merger…) and opted into what I thought was overdraft protection. After getting a bunch of overdrafts and a fee (I happened to look at my account) and saw that they charged me a fee and gave me several overdrafts despite my opting in for Overdraft protection from my savings account. When I called customer service they told me there was nothing they could do about it that I could change the option for overdraft protection in my app or go into the bank physically again. When I tried to change it in the app it would not let me… Then I called my branch bank for days and the manager would not return my call
I finally got a call back from him when being very strong with one of the tellers on the phone. He said there was nothing he could do. He would try to reverse the charge but that he inferred it was my fault that the opting in was only for my bank card use which I find insane! This was not clearly explain to me at all when I opened up the checking account yet it is my fault!?! He also said that they were only a few people working in the bank because they were understaffed (this has been going on there for weeks…) Why can’t these banks hire enough people… They have enough of our money! Never heard of such crazy policies! Trying to get rid of this bank as soon as possible and join another one. I only opened an account there because I thought it would be convenient as it’s a block away from my house but it is anything but convenient! Stay away! They are awful!

I have been a happy BB&T and Suntrust customer for decades. But I am closing my accounts since Truist took them over. I was hit with $64.00 in fees in 2 months, with no notice of the change in terms on my accounts, much less an agreement. After my first complaint, I was told "no maintenance fees" if I met account criteria, but then I was charged other fees for services I never heard of, didn't agree to, and didn't want. "But these fees are completely different" they said. Not to me; I don't pay fees for a bank to have use of my money. If your accounts transfer to Truist, watch your balance carefully, or better yet, avoid the hassle and move them elsewhere immediately.

This is not the first time I experience terrible banking. If you are going to use this bank you got to be cautious to your money. This bank charges your account for the transfers you make and never delivers the money to the other party you meant to transfer to. You will not be able to track after that or get your money back unless you spend 1-2 days on the phone and another few weeks for the money to return to your account. I'll end my business with both SunTrust and BB&T for their suspicious banking activities.

I've have three accounts with SunTrust now Truist for years. A mortgage, a loan, a credit card and two checking accounts. I have never been late or had any problems until I they switched to Truist. I paid off my mortgage, loan and credit card. My credit card had purchases and cash advances. I paid it off and got a check in the mail for overpayment.
When checking account online I found I was charged interest from the date I paid it off to the end of the cycle. I called and got this customer service rep. that was very curt and rude. Who said, "If you check your statement info is there." I said, "You can't charge me when account is paid in full." He just kept saying check your statement. Obviously he had no idea on how to explain the problem. He should get lessons in customer relations and probably some sensitivity training. No, I don't get offended easily but I was a Vice Presidents of a bank and very familiar with how to treat customers you want to keep. Apparently Truist isn't interested in keeping customers. I said I wanted a manager. He went to get one and lo and behold now I have a credit on my account again. Very poor service.

My mother, who's had a Money Market Savings with SunTrust for over 20 years, was recently diagnosed with health problems that required me to take over her finances. I knew she had a SunTrust account with tens of thousands of dollars stored therein. Visited 2 branches, neither manager was able to locate it by address or SSN. A corporate exec Derek again told me no account exists. Until the next month when change of address produces a statement mailed to my house. I set up online access that's immediately disabled. I was then asked to leave the branch when I produced the statement. This is all after their own legal department verified my POA. They are overtly attempting to hold onto her assets. I'm assuming to prevent a dip in holdings during the merger. Either way, it's dishonest and unethical. Do not bank here, fair warning.

The way this merger has been rolled out over months and months, all the ** guys at the top need to be fired. I have had nothing but problems with online and mobile banking since they decided to merge technologies. I understand some downtime, but not consistently during the day and early evenings. No one is offering an explanation from Truist or SunTrust from the top. Over and over you try and get to Truist, it tells you to use Suntrust. You use Suntrust and URL redirect bounces you out and you can never login. This is totally unacceptable. If you have shipped your technology overseas then get it back and get U.S. employees on a bridge to fix this crap and inform your customers. What's the problem, you people can't think outside the box and throw up a web page saying site is down at the moment?
After 20 years with Suntrust, Bank of the South before that, I will be moving my money someplace else. I may not be in the top 1% but I will be voting with my feet. This is the worst compilation of two companies I have ever seen. And pull your customer service back to the states too. We are tired of having to communicate with localities that don't understand English. Take a lesson the rest of you financial institutions and all who ship call centers across the pond.

I wasn't but somehow a payment I made was applied to principal and was not considered a monthly payment. This was all in their records and the people I talked to could see it but the mighty computer still trumped everyone and said I was behind and even with all of that I was threatened with a negative report on my credit so I had to make another payment I couldn't afford. I recently purchased my home in California, and my mortgage is through SunTrust. I pay my taxes and insurance through an impound account with SunTrust, as many people do so they make one monthly payment to the bank to cover the mortgage, taxes, and insurance. When checking the balance of my impound account however, and comparing it against the annual property tax bill I received, it appeared that SunTrust was withholding significantly more than they should for property taxes. It turns out they were (which they finally admitted) - a more than $5,000 excess. It seems they were withholding not only the property taxes paid through the impound account, but supplemental property taxes as well which are not paid through the impound account (and are typically the home buyer's responsibility). This is a pretty basic tax concept and a major mistake for a bank that should know how these rules work and not make these kinds of mistakes.
Second, the online services for the mortgage account are amazingly terrible. My spouse created an online account for the mortgage. When I went to similarly create an online account, I received an error message that an account already existed for the mortgage. Fine - I figured I could just use my spouse's account. Yet when asking a question through the online messaging service, I was told they would only speak to my spouse because it was his online account and that I needed to create my own. This was impossible to do however, leaving me with in a Catch 22 situation.
Third, the actual "secure messaging" chat service was extremely dysfunctional. It is formatted like an IM-type chat, but in reality it is not - after asking a question in the chat, you are told someone will respond within 1-2 business days. You are also told not to close the chat during that time, but to leave it open and log out of your account. Weird, but fine. The problem is that when an agent does actually respond, you are given zero notification - no call, no email, no text. There isn't even any notification symbol when you login to your account.
This is problematic, because after 1-2 hours of the agent responding, the agent closes that chat window because you have not responded back. This included a response from an agent at 5 am my time, which was then closed around 7 am because I did not respond. I didn't even know an agent had responded. The same thing happened multiple times, even when I requested that the chat be left open given I had no way of knowing when someone had responded. To add insult to injury, you are given the option to fill out a survey of your experience - but that too expires within hours, and there is zero notification to you that the survey is available until it has already expired. In sum, my experience so far with this bank has been a terrible one - bad technology and service, and suspicious banking practices and major errors in my mortgage impound account. I would avoid if at all possible.

On 10/1/2021 I discovered someone had made 54 transactions for online gift cards through my bank account. The total amount of the transactions were $6375.90. I immediately contacted Suntrust's fraud department (1-800-447-8994) and made a claim. The female I spoke with that night stated she made the claim and deactivated my card which was still in my possession. I was advised the investigation would take 10 business days and the investigators would contact me if they needed more information. On 10/11/21 I received an email from Suntrust stating they had denied my claim but did not state why. I immediately went to my local branch where I was assisted by Mandy ** who was familiar with the incident. Together we made contact back with the fraud department but they refused to give us any information.
Klutz filed a complaint on my behalf for the way they treated me on the phone, and filed another complaint for the way they treated her. I was told all documents and information that was used in the first investigation would be mailed to me and I should receive them in 3-4 days. I never received the documents and have since requested them twice more, and still have never received anything. The company refuses to tell me anything about the case and they have on numerous occasions refused to allow me to speak with a supervisor or provide me with their information.
I have banked with Suntrust for 20 years, and not one time have I ever purchased an online gift card. I’m also a police officer of 20 years and know it’s extremely easy to get a card number and use it online. Just the fact that 54 different gift cards were purchased screams fraud, and anyone in law enforcement would say the same. On half of the transactions I was actually at work. While at work I only have access to 2 computers, the one in my patrol car and the one at the police department. All websites on both computers are captured and my department can prove I was never on any of the three websites used to purchase the cards. The bank refuses to give me the actual times of the transactions. But if they would call my police department and give them the exact times they could tell them exactly what I was doing and where I was at as our vehicles have GPS trackers on them.
The bank refuses to give me information, refuses to let me speak with or provide the name and contact info for someone with authority. A quick search online shows that Suntrust has been doing this for some time and something needs to be done about it. I can prove I did not make the transactions and the funds are covered by the FDIC and should be returned to me. If a proper investigations was performed, and it wasn’t, they would have reached the conclusion that I did not make the transaction nor did I authorize them.
Now I have to wait another 45 days (over on Dec. 4) for the second investigation, and not one time has anyone from Suntrust contacted me about the investigation. How can you perform an investigation and never speak with the victim. The practices of this bank should be illegal and they need to be investigated as this has been the norm for this bank for some time. No other bank conducts fraud cases this way. If I could select 0 stars I would!

They just put a $4200 cashier's check back in an open envelope and threw it back in the mail. What kind of bank puts a check back into an opened envelope and mails it back 1000 miles??

This is by far the worst merger ever. Dealing with BB&T was so simple and easy. Never had any issues whatsoever whether it was by phone or in their branches. Now Truist comes in the picture and is clear that they do not care. This bank is laughable. It is borderline disrespectful. I have been on hold for almost 2 hours, 2 hours! This is so disappointing. Unfortunately, I cannot do anything about it because my car loan is with them. I am basically stuck with them, for now.

Middle of Sept 2021 had a check stolen from Post Office. It was apparently whitewashed and filled out for a significant amount of money, all my money actually on Oct 9, 2021, no phone call, nothing, found out the next day when I checked my account. Reported the fraud, the whole check even the signature was rewritten, oblivious fraud, but investigation started on Oct 8, 2021, froze my account, no debit or credit, told them my SS check was coming in a few days. They said, "No problem, we will transfer to your new account." That did not happen. They took my SS check and it is now in the frozen account.
When I spoke with the fraud department they told me they did not know how to transfer my SS check into new account, right. I feel like I have been abused by Suntrust and taken advantage of. They know it's a fraudulent case, been there for years. They know my history, but still will not give me back my money. They said still investigating. Well a lot of banks if they know is fraud will give you back your money during investigations. They are all insured, but not Suntrust, they keep the money. Something is wrong with this bank, something does not feel right about the honesty of the people running this bank, after this experience, the fraud is coming from within.

Imagine working hard to feed your family and you take your check to the bank you put your trust in and they hold YOUR money hostage for 2 weeks. Anyhow, once my funds clear I will be cashing out my account and taking my business elsewhere. I would not reccomend this bank. It's dated and unfair to its clients.

I have been a loyal customer for over seven years. My wife and I recently bought a condo in Miami and opened an additional joint account to pay the bills. My wife set up a recurring payment for the HOA dues ($821.38). Everything transitioned to Truist and she could not see the recurring payment anymore. Long story made slightly shorter, we ended up paying our HOA dues twice. Once with Bill Pay and she sent a check. When she called to find out what happened, the agent put her on hold for over an hour and just left her there. She sells Medicare and it is her busy season (commission only), but she just sat there on hold thinking the young lady was helping her. Finally a gentleman came on after an hour and a half.
All she had to do is log into my account to edit and remove the bill pay entry. 1. Why would it be set up to where only one person can see the bill pay on a joint account? 2. Miami is expensive and we just bought and furnished a condo. We really didn't need to pay an additional $800 this month, Truist. 3. What kind of nasty person would just leave someone on hold. If there is a customer relations person, they need to look into a call that my wife placed at 8:41 am EST. She wasn't being rude or anything. When it comes time to refinance my condo, open lines of credit and everything else my wife and I are planning to do in the next few years, we will definitely keep this experience in mind.

If you’re looking for a bank that will repeatedly ignore your calls, does not communicate with you, and will give you inaccurate information, then you should bank with Truist/Suntrust/BB&T. My closing date was set for October 8th with a 10-day extension if needed. This date had been set for several weeks. I was notified by email on October 7th at 10:53am that we could not close on the scheduled date, and the bank now did not know when they could close. This is just one day before the set closing date.
To make this information more frustrating to hear, the mortgage officer reassured me on that Tuesday, October 5th, that we were fine to close on October 8th. The sellers were gracious enough to extend the closing to October 19th, but they warned if this date wasn’t met the house would be put back up for sale. The bank continued to fail with providing any date to close on. So the house I have been planning to move into since late August, will now be on the market once again because the bank failed to meet the deadline twice. They could not even provide a date to close. I am now out of a job that I was transferring to, will continue to stay in an RV at my parents even longer, out of pocket $1,300 plus travel expenses, and will have to start looking for homes all over again. There’s much more to the story such as several ignored calls, them blaming people within their own company, and not working with their own team members.
If you use this bank, I HIGHLY encourage you to be cautious. I will be switching banks ASAP, and I will be leaving as many reviews as I can so this will not happen to anyone else. If you want to hear more nightmare stories that are very similar to mine, I encourage you to visit the Consumer Affairs website to see several recent and verified reviews left by real people. The bank has only received 1-2 stars for their mortgage department for the last two years. The link is below. I also attached a few screenshots of the reviews as a preview to what you will see. Overall, Truist Bank is a 0/10 would not recommend kind of bank.

Both on the website and on the app every single transaction takes more steps than before, and now I have no ability to know who my personal banker is or how to contact them, the only interaction is now by BOT and chat. A terrible transition for anyone who was used to the benefits of working with BB&T. Will they ever get this merger finished?

Truist Bank (SunTrust) has very bad business practices. They rip you off for making transfers, for using the Zelle app. Then they take what little money in your account, despite the direct deposit that comes in every 2 weeks. I am angry because they closing my account with no explanation or notification. How unprofessional. They charge you for using zelle 3 times. Run as far the heck away from this bank. They had me shred my card and they said they would send me a new card. I asked them not to mail it to me because of the high rate of mail theft in Fayetteville, NC. They said they would send it to my branch bank. They did not. They mailed it to me (expect it in 3-5 days). It is now 10 days and no card. Now I have to cancel the card I never received. Bank accounts, savings, car loans etc. Recently I’ve had such negative experiences with Suntrust that I went through the trouble of finding another bank and moving the myriad of accounts and automatic payments I had set up over the years. Only the truly terrible experience I have had could have made it worth the effort to change something usually as innocuous as banks tend to be. I received horrendous advise from the bank manager about an issue. Was assured things would be fixed and then Suntrust changed their commitment to how they would handle the issue twice even after having put their proposed resolution in writing.
Suntrust can’t keep their own word and don’t extend any common courtesy or trust to long long standing customers. So we are done. When I called to set up the wire I was told in no uncertain terms that the only way I could send a wire (aka use my own money) would be to purchase a plane ticket and fly back to a Suntrust branch where I would then need to take about 15 minutes to fill out a wire transfer form.
I thought the person I was talking to must be kidding, but after several other failed attempts to try to find someone who would help me that is the final answer. In 2021 in order to send a wire I must fly across country to a bank branch and hand fill a form. So that's what I'm going to do because there is literally no other option given that I am supposed to close on this home early next week. First off, I'm below poor. I am paycheck to paycheck. The pandemic hasn't helped, and I have kids that depend on my child support. Of course they come first, but if I cannot function financially how would they do? Suntrust aka TRUist is the target of my frustration. Imagine that one star next to 4 empty ones is negative 1. Now my story.
I deposited a check for 250 (approximately) dollars on their mobile check upload. The app answered back that my deposit didn't load properly. OK, cool. I redid the deposit, and saw two "zeroes" on my ledger. In order to try to avoid problems, I called their 1-800 to get in front of any problems. The rep assured me that there would be no problems. This was on the weekend. Rep was Pinoy, no big deal. I trust what they said, rested easy. Fast forward to next Tuesday...
I checked my balance early on 5-24-21. Money was there. Went back to sleep resting easy. I am not biased towards anyone, and grew up with many Filipino friends in California. Woke up the next day, checked my balance, and my whole account was locked, and CANCELLED. I called them up about it. Their rep (from Philippines) told me what was happening: my account was cancelled and I couldn't get a reason why. I don't blame an outsourced customer service. This is normal. I demanded to talk to a supervisor. This money was crucial to my family staying afloat.
It turned everything I have upside down. I needed money for basics like anyone else. I asked to talk to a supervisor. I was finally connected to a lady who was an American (probably from the Atlanta area, they are based there and she had a southern accent). She was not rude or short with me. In fact, she actually seemed like she cared. I was told my money is being held, my account was being cancelled, and that they can't tell me anything about it. Once they "reviewed" my "violations" I would receive a letter and what I "was owed" within 3 weeks. 3 WEEKS.
So now I can just wither on the vine, no money, no options, no answers, no BILLS PAID or groceries, phone bill money, and probably no way to pay my rent in one week. This is the perfect example of corporate greed just brushing aside the people who can't make it day to day. I want to take care of my sons (15 and 10). They live in a different state. Their Mother shouldn't have the stress of wondering where the child support is because some JERK that made this call that I'm not worth their ** standards.
Even worse, when I opened the account, the guy who was my "banker" was mad rude, checked my DL against my address, and acted confrontational. He had only acted nice when I almost walked out and was put off by his attitude. Real world POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. The branch is on Roswell in Sandy Springs, GA, and this (censored) person had to get permission from his "manager" to actually act like he gave a "bleep". I ain't down with ruining anybody's rep, but #TRUIST had no qualms about ruing mine.
I'm waiting for probably weeks to recollect what money they are holding, and my life is up in the air. I don't care about what you do to screw me, but you shouldn't do that to my kids. My life is now gobbled up by Corporate Greed, and I'm not the "person" you want to "** with". Now the whole world will know what #suntrust is about. I have social media reach. I am now going through a very painful process of trying to close my bank account, which is incredibly difficult as it turns out. Even though I have changed all of my recurrent bills to my new banking service, random charges are still being processed by Suntrust, much to the confusion of the vendors (and me, who sees that the exact same charges are being processed by my new bank, the only bank info the vendors have). This results in fees, me needing to call and speak to customer service daily, and now needing to process claims to prove that these charges are not approved by myself.
When I ask to shut down my account, and decline any and all 'charges' that Suntrust wants to process, I am told I cannot do this or that I need to pay more fees. I have had no issues with Suntrust until now, but it is extremely reassuring to me that I know I am no longer (if I am ever allowed to close my accounts) banking with them. The banker was on the phone for over an hour only to tell me I will receive a generic letter in the mail. My account is closed. They don’t have the guts to tell me the truth because they know they would be subject to a lawsuit. Bait and switch when they think all you're interested in is their bonus. Well don’t advertise it if you are not going to fulfill your obligation. It is false advertising.

I called to request a credit refund for the late fee, taking into account that it was late because my sister was in the hospital for over 30 days, I had my nephew with me, it was a very difficult time. The supervisor and the manager told me that nothing that they could do because they gave a refund on Dec 2020. Other credit cards extend the courtesy more than one time, I don't understand why Suntrust can't offer the same treatment to their customers, especially the ones that are loyal to them for some decades. As soon as I pay all the balance in the card, I am going to close my account with them. Very upsetting!

The latest was a stop check issue that cost 3x36 dollars in fee and 2 days spent on the issue and be told in the end that I was wrongly advised by their telephone assisting employee!!! I sent them the death certs and court documents years ago, but they claim they don't have them on record. They seem to have no established process for how to handle these cases. Which they will tell you every time to call, there are extremely long waits, no one that actually has the knowledge, much less the will power to help with simple questions. As well, they are always for some reason having an update for tech malfunctions which supposedly does not allow them to answer simple questions. They closed the account so quickly and refuse to send any and all document for for the finance deal and was told no.
Checking with dealership where we bought new vehicle said they called them, got payoff and have never heard of getting a low ball payoff amt. I owed $21,130 have picture of that - expected to be a little interest on that the dealership paid of $21,250. Way more than owed. I feel like they kept the GAP money to make up for the interest they were losing when I paid extra payment amounts. So they got $21,700 for pay off. I am a very long term customer of SunTrust in Smyrna, TN. My whole family banks there. My Bank on Sam Ridley was closed (other branch said everyone was out sick) and the ATM machine was not working to allow a deposit. Their ATM machine wasn't working on my visit last week either. I went to the other branch in Smyrna on Lowery, and they had only 2 of three drive-through working... and their ATM machine was not working to allow deposits. The wait time was 35 minutes for each car (maybe 5 in each lane?) in the two lanes that were open. That's terrible .... considering I had lunch in a restaurant today, had three people wait on me and my meal was cooked from scratch in 10 minutes. For the time I had to wait to deposit a check at SunTrust, the Mexican restaurant had me and at least 15 others fed and out the door.
SunTrust, now by some other weird name, is showing behavior like they are in bad trouble and about to collapse, in my opinion. I have a whole lot of money in there, drawing almost "$0.00" interest and poor service. Yet, the amount of money I have with them surely has been lent to someone buying a new car and making the bank a lot of money. I tried to make this complaint to SunTrust direct through the online banking secure messaging, but getting some kind of message that the link was taken down... not working. I am feeling very nervous with my money in SunTrust Bank!

I am now in my NC home, having just driven down from my MA home, as I do this time each year. SunTrust just turned down my credit card in the grocery store in NC. I called their customer service line. I was put on hold 3 times. The THIRD time I was cut off; just a dial tone. So, I called back. I was answered a variety of their security questions successfully. I was then forwarded to the fraud unit where I again answered several of their questions to ensure it was indeed ME. Then they asked for my phone number. I told them I had two one in MA and one in NC.
The fellow got irritated sounding and loudly asked for the number I was calling from. I gave it to him. He then told me that he had to make a check via my telephone number (?). I again gave him the number. He then announced that there was a hold on my account and I could not use it as SOMEONE ELSE HAD CALLED IN EARLIER so they felt it was a case of fraud. I told him that first call had been made by ME and I was cut off. He wouldn't listen and said I had to go to a Sun Trust branch and show my ID. NO Sun Trust branches near me. I asked him for a branch near me and he got more nasty, but finally gave me the address of a branch about 1/2 hour from me.
I went there and it WAS CLOSED. I started driving to another branch about 2 hours from me, but got too tired and had to turn around (I'm 72). I had answered all their questions, had given them my account and SS numbers, successfully. They suspected FRAUD because they received more than one call. Yet, the second call had to be made as they had HUNG UP on me the first time. Oh, and I have a perfect credit rating and long standing credit. Catch 22 anyone? They were nasty on the phone, btw. Was I angry by this time? YUP! And, when I said this made me want to cancel my fraud rep told me "okay" in a nasty voice. Apparently they don't need customers.
In my 70+ years I have never been treated so badly by ANY organization in my life. Yes, I admit that I called them incompetent at the end of this call, along with another select adjective. BUT, only after I had answered all their security questions; things that NOBODY but me would have known ex.: my address 20 years ago, etc. Given them ALL the correct numbers for SS accounts, etc. Further,, I was the only person who called them, and last but not least...I have made this trip from MA to NC; same places...each year. Then they sent me on a wild goose chase to a closed Sun Trust branch. WOW. They get the prize for the very worst customer service I have even experienced. My suggestion? Find another bank who actually CARES ABOUT ITS CUSTOMERS!

Suntrust is absolutely the worst bank I have ever did business with. Back in JULY of this year (2020 before the pandemic) my account was closed out without any notice or reason at all. Before I called the bank to speak with someone for answers, I of course went through the motions of resetting my password because maybe I had forgotten it, or maybe my account was experiencing fraud. To no avail I called and I found out my account was closed abruptly and was under investigation. Ok, even if this was the case and I was being investigated no one contacted me prior to closing my account to let me know this was happening, I had not received a letter in the mail or anything of the sort.
I am completely and utterly disgusted with how I am being treated as a customer. I have spoken to representative after representative in hopes of finding out concrete answers as to why I was shut out of my account. No one at all was able to provide answers. During a global pandemic (and even if it was not a pandemic), I believe business should not be handled in such a poor fashion. My account is closed, my funds are frozen, and I am left with no answers to any of my questions as to why. I do not believe anything strange went on with my account, however if the question arose of strange things happening with my account, as a customer I feel I should have been made aware.
If this is the way suntrust treats people that choose to bank with them then please, after this so called investigation SHUT DOWN MY ACCOUNT! I do not want to bank with an institution that treats their clients like garbage prior to the end of the findings in an ongoing investigation. My question is, when the investigation is done and they find nothing is wrong with my account what then? An apology? Ha! Keep it. Signed, A pissed American!

I've been a SunTrust customer for 29 years, and I've never felt so uncomfortable in a SunTrust branch as I did today. My city has a Covid-19 mask ordinance, so we are all masking and social distancing when entering public establishments. Fair enough. But SunTrust Branch 9801 (3098 Apalachee Pkwy, Tallahassee, FL 32301) takes it to a new level. They have a masked security guard posted at the door, and he slides the door open if he permits you to enter and slides it closed behind you. All the lights in the lobby are dimmed or off; it's literally dark. Account holders are not allowed to use the customer desk to endorse their checks but may only endorse them at the teller's counter.
Just a few years ago, this branch replaced another four blocks away, which had a drive thru. When they built Branch 9801, no drive thru, so you must enter the branch to do business. Of course, the bank employees are behind bullet-proof plexiglass almost two inches thick, so the extent they have gone to make customers feel unwelcome is extremely hyperbolic. They definitely make customers feel like an enemy to be feared, and everything about the experiences expresses that SunTrust does not want you there (which translates to SunTrust's hoping you will take your business to another bank). I mention all this because the SunTrust branches in other parts of Tallahassee are not nearly as bleak and unfriendly. This is sad, and I hope the Truist managers will take a close look at Branch 9801.

-No offer of alternatives, sort of a too bad that's our process tone
-Contradictory reasons; You changed your account. (No I didn't, you did). To be followed up by 'we don't offer free checking anymore.'

AT THE SAME TIME he got his backpay for his military disability deposited, which of course ALSO didn't show up in the account.
Contacting the bank we were told the account was locked due to "suspicious activity". We showed them the documentation that it was a Government Check and an Insurance Check, and they told us they would investigate it. That was in JUNE. We'd been told SEVERAL times to give them a few more days because the "investigation" was nearly complete. At the end of JULY (after three months of "investigating") we'd had enough and contacted a lawyer.
We went in last Tuesday to settle out of court on an amount THEY came up with. It was SUPPOSED TO be released by noon the next day. When it WASN'T we were told they were "having problems" with transfers (his account STILL shows a ZERO balance). Even his last month's disability check isn't showing. I was financially able to have him stay with me for about a month, and NOW because of this I'm BROKE, and haven't been able to pay this months rent or BUY FOOD. So much time and equity with this bank and this is how they treat me??? I wish I never used Suntrust, I am so disgusted with how they left me. I've been with Suntrust for 20 years. They provide a wonderful variety of accounts (checking, savings, investment, credit card, mortgage, personal loans, etc). They have financed the last 3 houses I've purchased and always had the lowest interest rates. Even with their merger with BB&T, I have had no interruption in services. Customer service and bank personnel are always very friendly and helpful.

To make a long story short 3 or 4 weeks ago my ATM card stopped working. Called the bank. They decide to replace the card, with I have updated with Apple and try for several times sending the $.99 to Apple but to no avail. I called Apple twice and they have troubleshoot and resolved within themselves that the issue is with the bank not them.
I called Suntrust and stayed on the phone for 2 hours with their associate, but she kept telling me Apple needs to fix on their, and I told I called Apple twice before calling and they told me to call the bank. The bank associate told me she can see the transaction. I told her to process as I approve payment, but she told she can’t process. I said I believe the issue is with them due to possible issues with their merger with B&B but she claimed there is no issue then she placed me on hold for another 30 mins then hung up the phone without giving me any resolution.
I am so disappointed with the bank and would not recommended to my enemies. I may have to cancel account if I can’t use to pay my bills, as they will cause negative entries on my credit not to exclude charges from vendors. I hope they work on fixing these issues if they want to keep their customers happy. I would give them zero if I could.

I have a Home Equity Line with Suntrust Bank. I sustained roof damage during a hurricane and some subsequent interior damage. I settled with the insurance company for an amount not much more than the cost to replace my roof. The check was given to Suntrust January 9, 2020. I contracted with a roofer to replace the roof. After many frustrating calls I finally received enough for the deposit. The roof replacement was started and when the second payment was due per my contract the mortgage required an inspection.
After the inspection, they said that enough work had not been completed. These incompetents wanted me to repair the inside damage (which was primarily ceiling stains) before I completed the roof replacement. I have spoken with every employee and supervisor in that department and finally after threats of exposure was referred to Executive Services who rarely returns my calls and when she does, it’s like a “catch 22” situation where she refers me to the manager of the mortgage department who will not accept my calls because it has been turned over to Executive Services.
It has been 6 months since I settled with the insurance company and I am fighting to repair my roof so that I can protect my property from any additional damage. My home is and always has been in tip-top condition. There is evidence of water damage including new leaks that have occurred in the interim as I wait for my money to be released from the bank. All water damage will be repaired but it would be irresponsible and a waste of money to repair the interior before the roof is finished which is what the mortgage department is asking. Obtaining an Equity Line from Suntrust Bank is one of the biggest mistakes of my life.

I called Suntrust, they said, “Let me see what’s going on.” Apparently Suntrust/BB&T now Truist decided to freeze all our bank accounts and close them, without notifying us‼️ And we have no access to our money. We have had some fraudulent charges over the years, restaurants or gaming charges that weren’t ours, nothing big, but all I was told was Suntrust decided to “sever the relationship“ which is all I’m told, & no one will or can tell me why?? That’s all they told me, no reason, no one will give a reason or explanation. So, they are holding our money hostage, we can’t get to it, and we weren’t notified.
My business account is there, now closed. If they want to close the accounts ok, but shouldn’t the person be notified first, to get their money and make other arrangements before being left with no access to funds? They said “you will get a letter with a check for your funds.” Well.... that’s a bit late isn’t it? After the fact. That could take a week. I may need groceries or gas before then. We couldn’t even get in touch with her, aside from automated email responses, until they had closed the applications. I should have known...we’ve had at least 20 different officers as staff was shuffled over the past 10 years. I’d call with an issue only to find that our officer was no longer with Suntrust. Never were we automatically assigned a new one, until we called. We’ve had this one for a few years, but it didn’t do us a bit of good. She offered to file a complaint for us as we should have had the chance to apply...like that’s going to be at all helpful. Meanwhile, I’ve had to furlough staff. They aren’t having much luck getting any payments out of Florida Unemployment.
This isn’t our first complaint...several months ago, they held a wire intended for us for a week without ever reaching out. I had to call to get them to release it to us. They would have just held the money in limbo. No reason; they knew it was ours. Their customer service is just that bad. Now this bank is called “Truist,” meaning that they put the customer’s interests before their own, or as they claim conduct business with the “unselfish concern for the welfare of others.” I've found in dealing with this bank that this statement couldn’t be farther from the truth.

Then they sent me a letter saying that I am not eligible for the offer $300 because I have closed my account within the last 180 days, then why did you send me the letter and offer you **???

Extremely slow web presence; pages sometimes take five minutes to load during normal business hours, if they load at all and you don't get a "not available" message and have to start all over again. Almost impossible to find and access some functions, such as changing autopay settings (never did find them). I gave up and called the main customer service number, and after spending quite a while going through their voice menu, the recording said that the number was no longer in service! I tried three times with the same results. Finally called the technical support line, where my request was taken care of. Suntrust clearly doesn't care about usability or their infrastructure. I hope that Truist shakes some things up there since the acquisition because I've never had such bad experiences or wasted so much with any other entity since I started with Suntrust five years ago.

Called the 800 tele number and finally after being on hold exactly 1 hour and 41 minutes the lady told me that suntrust decided not to do business with me. Could not give me a reason except that it was their "Loss department??" and by the way they still sent me the debit card only to be cut up and trashed. Worst bank ever. This is why I left them for checking and savings and am refinancing to get the hell away from them completely. Guess what? No call. Hold delayed processing, caused IFC, never late on my car payments, now late and can't pay it because they are holding $5100 for a week after clearance. Had account for month, autopay of my income, opened with 1500 cash. Check was from reputable retirement account through Fidelity. WTH?
Original Review: Deposited $5000+ check in new account. Processed next business day, then hold of 10 days placed. Payor stated processing takes 1 day normally for them. After 3 days, money funded. Called to get hold removed as letter stated funds released when cleared. Cleared yesterday. No money and car payment sent back. Every rep says they can't remove hold. Now I'll be late on my other bills too. Mind you I was never informed my check would be held 10 days just because I'm a new customer. Today excuse is they need from yesterday till Tuesday to verify? What? My funds cleared. That it's not phishing? How dare they now accuse me of being a crook.

I’m sorry to have to write a negative review at such a crucial time in everyone’s lives as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. I called Suntrust last week and was told to call back today to speak with someone about my auto loan since it’s not due till 4/25. I’m on the phone now and have. Even holding for 58 minutes. It’s not the hold that’s even bothering me, I understand the long wait times however I keep getting transferred to different departments and every time the representative tells me I’ve reached the wrong department and asks if I want the direct line that happens to be the exact same number I dialed initially.
I have explained to each rep what is happening and it just happens again and again. This is awful customer service regardless of what’s going on in the world. Again it’s not the hold time that bothered me but remaining on hold and then being told I’ve reached the wrong department is very frustrating, especially when it’s happened repeatedly during the same phone call that’s now lasted over an hour.

I am also a CPA and comfortable handling money and multiple accounts. I have never found a bank so obtuse and unable/unwilling to serve its clients (them/me) as I continue to try to get my father's money to a different bank that will serve him better.
Their "Premier Banking" is a joke as they hardly ever call back. Their branch manager (Asima **) was comfortable ignoring my requests to retire a loan (earning them 5+% a year) with surplus funds sitting in a no-interest checking account. They don't do wires by phone.. and then if one tries to do "Bill Pay", the system fails and there is no notice unless one checks back on-line. I can't imagine why anyone who might actually want access to their money would ever bank there.

After coming here and seeing reviews of similar accounts being open like the one in my name, I'm beginning to wonder if maybe a Suntrust employee didn't open the account to meet sales goals. I received a letter from SunTrust saying that I opened an account. I never opened an account with them. The letter I received included checks with an account number. I called to find out what was going on. The person on the phone said that the account in my name was closed by their fraud department. I asked for details and they did confirm that the email address on the account was not mine, but per policy, she was unable to provide me details on "my account". She offered to send me to the fraud department who could provide further details.
The first person in the fraud department told me she couldn't give me any details regarding the account and that she would open a "case". She was unable to explain what a case was, except that it would prevent me from getting credit. I then spoke with her supervisor who told me basically the same so I asked to speak with her manager. Her manager told me the same and if I wanted to "escalate" any further, I could mail a letter to them. She also suggested that I could file a police report. It would not do any good to file a report, if they won't provide any information used to open the account. I wasted 85 minutes on the phone with them for a fraudulent account and they were completely unwilling to assist with a remedy.

Please help make Suntrust release my money!!! From the beginning: I have been a Suntrust customer for the last 3 years, my seventeen year old daughter has had her account for the past year. During this time, I have had my payroll and taxes direct deposited regularly. I was locked out my online account without warning on Monday 2/24, thinking it was a technical error I decided to call (800) 786-8787. After being on hold and transferred several times and the various representatives going back and forth with my accounts being under investigation to my accounts being closed. Finally a “supervisor” said my accounts were being close based on Suntrust’s policy to terminate any relationship at any time. Like how is this even possible?
I have called at least twice a day for everyday and the everyday I get a little bit more information. On Tuesday 2/25 I received a letter in my mailbox about a hold on a mobile deposit for $1,800.00 for a check into my daughter's account from 2/18. We did not make any mobile deposits! (This is the fraud) I have asked for images, since whenever I have made a mobile deposit they require check images, trying to see if this was in ANY way related to mine or daughter's accounts. I have yet to receive anything. After going into the Concord branch, the banker M. ** told me the check was returned on 2/21 for the account being closed. There has been no other activity on my daughter's account. I understand that many financial institutions consider depositing funds from closed accounts to be account abuse! This type of activity does not happen on accounts that customers hold for YEARS or still have other funds going into.
Although this is fraud and not abuse Suntrust has decided to close my account. They closed my account on 2/24 or 2/25, they accepted my Federal taxes on 2/26 and my payroll on 2/28 and have refused to release my funds. They refused to reject my taxes and payroll. The account is locked for debits but wide open for CREDITS!!! Both my taxes and payroll are well over $1800. They have refused to even release any portion of my funds. This causes a major financial issue being the end of the month as my bills are now due. Now today they are saying that the account has to sit with no activity for 5 days before it can be reviewed to move forward for closing. I am grateful that Suntrust’s fraud protection worked and stopped whatever compromise happen with my daughter account however there was no monetary loss to myself or Suntrust. Why are they still holding my funds? It’s Suntrust policy is the only answer being sung over and over again.

When I called to find out why, three different representatives said they had closed my account and told me I could never open one with them, and I would be getting a letter describing why. Then Suntrust sent me a debit card and said funds were available. Right after Suntrust said the account was closed, I notified my other bank and told them not to allow Suntrust to draft any money from my account. Today I get two letters in the mail, one for the checking account I had hoped to open, one for savings, telling me I owe them $25.00 in overdraft fees on an account that THEY cancelled. I am beyond baffled. The conduct of this bank in its customer relations and accounting practices raises many questions.
Updated on 02/02/2020: In follow up to a prior review: Aside from shockingly bad customer "service", it appears the various departments at this bank are out of touch with each other. After opening an account online, authorizing funding of checking & savings accounts by drafting my other bank, here are the communications from Suntrust, in emails, letters and phone contact with five bank representatives over the last 10 days:
1) "Congratulations on opening your account; your funds now available for withdrawal." (They hadn't even drafted the money from my other account.)2) "We have put a hold on your account, funds not available."
3) "We have closed your account" - and can't/ won't say why.
4) "You can never reopen an account" and "we don't want your business" - direct verbal communication from a representative.
5) Three days later, I get a debit card in the mail.
6) Yesterday I get a letter saying money is "deposited in your account as requested" Huh????
I ordered my bank not to give Suntrust any money, and yet there is one Suntrust department saying the account is open and another that says the account is closed, with a final slap in the face of "We don't want your business". Watch your back people, do not trust this institution with your money. From a very disappointed fiscally responsible adult with an excellent credit rating. Shocked at this level of disarray, disorganization and unprofessional behavior.
Original Review: I opened a bank account online in January 2020. To fund it, I gave Suntrust my other bank's account & routing numbers so they could draft the money from there. Suntrust made a trial deposit & withdrawal of 39 cents to be sure it worked, standard operating procedure. Because I was unable to verify this online, I called for assistance and a very helpful bank person presumably fixed this. Then I got emails "your account is now available". Then more emails saying the money was now "on hold". Another phone call to get information: a bank representative said a debit card would be mailed soon. Yesterday my user name & password stopped working. The money was never drafted from my other bank.
Two more phone calls made to Suntrust on Jan 30. Both representatives I spoke with, plus a supervisor said the account had been closed. No reason given. They were evasive and unforthcoming about this, or truly were only carrying out a bank policy unknown and unexplained to me. Bizarrely, they said they were not allowed to reveal why the account was closed but that I would receive a letter stating the reason. I asked if I should start over, but that was refused "you can NEVER open an account with us" and "we don't want your business".
I am a fiscally responsible person with an excellent credit rating and yet Suntrust treated me like a fraudulent impostor. I had to go to my other bank and put a stop order on any further attempted drafts by Suntrust, as NO reassurances or information was given regarding what they would do with all the personal financial information I had given them. Shockingly bad customer service for a less than 10 day old just opened account. Disturbingly cryptic, My internet search is coming up with many stories like these about Suntrust, and customers who could not access money deposited in suddenly "closed" accounts. I have never been treated with this level of careless disrespect by a business. Shabby and unethical, far below standard.

If we hadn't went to go make a deposit using our debit cards that day we would have never known this was happening. I'm surprised they stopped us from depositing money seeing how they seem to be stealing money from customers.
I then called a news channel to report them thinking they could help us get our money back but I have not heard from them. My mother, who is visiting, wanted to cash her own bank check for $200 against my Sun Trust account. This is a common banking practice based on good trust since my Sun Trust account had the funds to cover her check. Sun Trust processed the transaction incorrectly and took $200 from my account as well as taking $200 from my mother's bank. The withdrawal never should have touched my account balance. When I received my bank statement it showed a $200 cash withdrawal for that day which I never received. I confronted the bank manager and I was told that there was nothing he could do and that I would have to file a complaint to have the video camera feeds for that day reviewed to prove that I never received the money.
I asked about the end of day drawer count for the day in question and I was told it was correct because they would have been alerted of any discrepancy. The bank manager told me to call a number at the top of my statement which I did and got nowhere because i was told that my situation didn't fit any of Sun Trust's complaint criteria. At first I thought this was a honest mistake but since the bank insist the drawer count at the end of day was correct and since the bank refuses to pull the archived video footage to show that i never received the cash that my account was charged for my only conclusion is that someone in the bank pocketed the money or the bank records are so bad that the end of the day records didn't show the discrepancy.
It also shows that the bank manager and Sun Trust could care less that this happened to one of their customers. Even though this isn't a large sum of money it is very unnerving to bank with a bank that doesn't care if your account is debited for money that you never received. As for me I plan on closing my Sun Trust account and I will never bank with them or BB&T again.

It and other bills automatically took out and it was not there. Their customer service will not tell you anything. I have caught them lying. It has been horrible! I can not wait to get my money back cancel this account and get to my new Bank! By the way this was not the only problem I have had with them I have had to cancel my card 3 times for them letting the same charge come through that was fraudulent. My family has already switched and I am not far behind this includes a total of 4 people in my family.

Do not trust these people! I recently paid off the installment loan here through a 3rd party. By the time I received the check from them to forward to SunTrust, I could see there would be an overpayment in the amount of $300+. I never received a refund. When I called them, they told me that the amount was LESS than the amount owed! I could not prove it as when I tried to log into my account, it had already been removed!!!! Unbelievably shady outfit.

Suntrust Bank and a manager Linette **. Do not trust them with your money. We opened a new checking account and had 300k wired into it. The next day they froze the account without warning or notice. Now 2 checks came back labeled frozen account. Then a few days later they closed the account. Called the manager Linette who opened the account over a dozen times with no return call. Called customer service over 50 times with a different excuse every time. I received a letter in the mail stating I requested to close the account. I never did such a thing and if I did give me my money. Then a customer service rep stated human error by the person who opened the account. That was their own branch manager!!!
Now they say fraud because of a returned piece of mail.... I got your letter!!! So that is another BS excuse. They are playing with my money for over a month now. I have a business, I have bills and payroll. I have now contacted the news and an attorney. Comptroller of currency is the next stop. This bank has over 195 other people complaining about the same thing. This is illegal. When a bank closes your account they are to return the money to you immediately.

I have an account at Suntrust, I go to cash my check. Lady told me she couldn’t cash it that I had to deposit it and then I could use the money the next day. Fine I did that. I go the next day to get money out my account, lady tell me my check won’t be deposited until day after Christmas. This check is how I was going to get my children Christmas presents. If she would of told me it was going to take this long I would of simply went to Amscot. Now I have to tell my children they will not be getting Christmas presents. I will be closing my account and I will never bank with suntrust again.

This is the worst bank ever! They love to put holds for an entire week whenever you deposit a check. I deposited my Christmas bonus yesterday with a teller and I was told I would have my funds available in 24 hours. Today I checked online and they put a hold until December 24. Seriously??? This is a Christmas bonus!!! I will close my account as soon as possible. This was a tremendous bad decision.

This is an accurate acct of how we bank. We are a fairly small but growing business. We opened our acct in 2017. Now here we are just shy of 2020. Now since there is no longer a Suntrust in Texas, due to hurricane Harvey, we transfer most of our monies from our personal acct to suntrust. HOWEVER this is not a good practice when trying to show how much your company makes on a monthly basis. So, at this point we have decided to mail in our customers checks for deposit. 1st check they lost, ok accidents happen. No big deal.
Forward to Dec. 9th the day they received a priority mail deposit of $10,500.00 which again they lost. FINALLY FOUND 12-12. 4 days after they actually got it. And what do they do. PUT A WEEK HOLD ON IT SO IT PUTS ME OUT OF BUSINESS BECAUSE I CANNOT MAKE PAYROLL. SAD SAD day when such a large bank cannot telecheck to confirm a check is good so would rather shut down a small business that is growing in a great economy. Taking my 10.5K out as soon as it clears AND by by SUN_UN-TRUST. Signed, very upset an disappointed ex small business owner.
