Back in September 2012, I got a $3,600 installment loan and have been paying $200 every 2 weeks. I've always been on time with my payments and never missed one. I understand there's an interest fee for every loan you take out. What they didn't mention to me when I received the loan was that I was going to pay double the interest fee and still pay off the loan. I already made $1,400 in payments and not even close to my balance being paid off. I noticed on my receipts that my interest rates keep going up instead of down.

When I called the main company to ask why is my interest going up instead of down, she said because I'm getting charged $13.95 daily on interest charges and I have until August until I pay off my interest balance. So I have another 15 payments to make just for interest which will add up close to $8,000 just in interest and that's not including my balance. They are the biggest rip off loan agency ever. They claim to help you when needed but really they are taking advantage of people who need help. So now, I'm stuck paying a loan three times more than what I borrowed.

In August, I took out a $300 loan from Speedy Cash. I was told that an installment loan would have lower interest and would save me money! No, it did not! I have paid $600 over the original loan and they are still telling me I owe $698 more! I am a single mother of 3 and needed it for school supplies. This company is taking advantage of people! They are threatening to repossess my car. Why a company like this is able to take advantage of people is beyond me! They are money-hungry unprofessionals!

I have a loan from Speedy Cash. On Jan. 2, 2013, I went to Speedy Cash on 8502 S. Braeswood, Houston, TX, 77031. I gave the teller my debit card to pay my loan for $200. I have no problem with that. What I am concerned is this: she charged me on my card for $239 extra. I did not authorize another payment from my card. I have informed my bank on the issue. I want Speedy Cash to refund back to me the $239. If not, we can go to court with the issue.

I'm in my 5th payday loan. This is how it works. When in your 5th payday loan, you have to pay it off and wait two days before you can get another, then getting two at a time. Well, Speedy Cash has a problem with letting me pay off my loan early. They want to resend the loan, which makes it appear that the fifth loan was never done. They told me I had to wait three days. Today is the third day and they're still telling me they will have to resend it. I have told them that I don't want to resend it because it would be like I didn't get the loan and have to do it all over again.

The customer service rep. told the supervisor I wanted to resend my loan, so she did. I yelled a lot and told her I did not want to but to pay the principal off and the full amount loan. At this point for some reason, she became deaf. All this happened on the second day and they didn't tell me about the three-day rule until I started yelling. So I called today, the third day, and they're still saying I have to wait three days. I hung up after saying I'll call back and demand to speak to the supervisor from yesterday. Now the phone system has been set to take a message or press 2 and they will call me back.

All of a sudden, Speedy Cash calls us up and tells me and my wife that we owe money to them. The last time that we got this call was last year or being of this year, in which we have never dealt business with them. They got our address and whatever about us from another loan place. We filed a simpler lawsuit and gave this company our personal information. We told Speedy Cash we do not owe them anything, but we still get calls from them. We have no idea where this company is located at in Kansas City and that we have never been to their business. They claim we owe 500 dollars, but we do not owe them anything. We are concerned and afraid of the company that they might hatch into our bank account. Our bank we go to already knows about this company. They have tried to get into our account, and our bank has blocked them from getting into our account.

I have been doing business with Speedy Cash for over two years. They know I'm a senior citizen on SSI and that my checks go in on the third of every month. They are so in a hurry to get their greedy hands on the cash right away they don't even give us a break. I went in on 10/03/12 at 9 am to pay my loan and was told that it had been deposited the day before. I asked the girl why, if you guys know that I don't get my money till the 3rd? I called corporate and a rude person said it's your responsibility to get your dates straight. Now I'm overdrawn on all my other bills. I hope you choke on our money!

On August 8th, I walked into Speedy Cash in Birmingham, Alabama and asked to pay off my title loan. Shantelle was my cashier and after giving me the total, I paid and she processed my payment and handed me a stack of papers, with the receipt on top. I left to head to my second job. Just minutes down the road, I realized she had not given me my title. I immediately called and spoke with her and she said I had to come back and get it. I live over 35 miles away and only ride a van pool into town. That day was the only day I could get it and I was on my way to work, so I couldn't turn around. When I got upset with her, she offered to mail me the title. I saw no other option, so I agreed. Two weeks later, I still had not received the title and I got a call from Corporate saying that I was late on my payment.

When I told her I had paid it off completely, she reviewed the record and stated that there were two payments still showing on the account and she would pass it on to her supervisor and get back with me. I immediately called the local branch in Birmingham where I had gotten my loan and spoke with Shantelle again. She was extremely rude to me, saying she had mailed the title that day. I finally convinced her to look in the place they normally keep titles and she came back and said she found it and that she would drop it in the mail that day. She, at that time, said that yes, in fact, her records showed the loan as being paid in full. Two weeks later and I still didn't have the title, so I called back and Shantelle was even more rude to me. She again asserted that she had mailed the title. I opened an investigation with the postal service and George from the local post office gave me a call to let me know that nothing had been received at the post office from them that went to my address.

When I called Shantelle back, she said it was my responsibility to get my title back when I was in the office and there was nothing she could do about it. She then began stating that I had asked her to put it in the mail and that released her of all obligations. We had planned to sell the car the weekend after I paid the loan off, but couldn't because we had no title. There is no telling who has my title or what they have done with it. Even the office manager, DeCarla **, chewed me out on the phone. It has been over a month now and I cannot sell my car for at least another 4 to 6 weeks because of their inability to do their job professionally and their unwillingness to correct the situation. I have since decided to begin charging them rent every day that I do not have my title. I believe they charge an $8.11 late fee per day that payments are late. I think that will do just fine for me, too.

Speedy Cash response

I received a call from a Ricardo ** stating he was with the attorney department of California at work and he wanted me to call him at **. I called this number and spoke with a man of foreign accent and he stated there were fraud charges filed against me from Speedy Cash for an unpaid payday loan for the amount of $989. I informed this man that I never received a loan from this company unless he had a sub-company like for ex. 500FastCash. He told me that I had to pay this money at $200 increments and I had to do it by Western Union. I was never given a case number nor was I given a chance to work out a payment plan if I indeed owed the company.

I was constantly called on my job and as of 5-4-2012, I was called again by this man who does not identify himself and was informed that he was going to send an investigator to my place of employment on 5-6-2012, Monday morning, and have me arrested and lose my job. I still do not know when this loan was taken out, what company it is under, and what the original amount of the loan was. I am not refusing to pay but I need some more information so I can determine if I do owe the company. I do not know what to do at this point.

Speedy Cash response

Ladonna- We do not ask anyone to send us money by Western Union. It sounds like you've been contacted by another company posing as Speedy Cash. If you receive any more communication from this other company, please contact your State office and file a complaint. I went to pay off a title loan of 400.00 dollars and was told that I had to deal with the tow company that repossessed my truck after paying Speedy Cash. I asked them if they would call the tow company and combine the two bills and I would pay both at the Speedy Cash office and the teller agreed. The amount of the buy-out on the loan was $390.00 and after her call to the tow company, the bill is now up to $976.00 and I refused to that amount and questioned why the tow company now seems to have control of my account. It has been over a month now and I have not heard from the tow company or Speedy Cash and I have no truck, I have no job from the fact that I have no transportation. Can you help?

Yesterday 4/20/12, my car was repossessed by Speedy Cash. My loan was paid in full this past Feb 2012. The dumb clerk messed up my account creating 2 accounts versus 1 account. This was cleared up after waiting 3 months. They picked it up from my job, how embarrassing. I had to borrow my co-worker's car, miss 1/2 off work and reschedule my appointments at work. I couldn't go to class and I had to get a ride to pick up my special needs child from daycare. I went home to get my receipt and my title to the car. The clerk and the manager was so rude I waited 2 and 1/2 hours in the office before the corporate decided to research the problem.

The tow company brought my car back late that evening. It was scratched up, my right rim bent, all my stuff bagged up. I washed my car today to try and get the numbers they wrote on all my windows on the driver side. I can't get it off. I'm looking for an attorney. This may cause me my job on Monday because I left to take care of this. I can't afford to lose my job. I'm a single mother with a special needs son. I work full-time and attend college part-time. This was a headache to go through.

I had a loan through Speedy Cash in October 2010, I paid it in full in June 2011. I received an email from them saying my loan is paid in full. I kept getting emails to take out a new loan since I was a customer in good standing. In November 2011 I was served papers from a company named Ad Astra, the collection agency for Speedy Cash, suing me for the loan that was already paid off

I tried to call them and even sent the suing attorney the paperwork saying it was paid and all they said was Speedy Cash says you still owe it. I had to hire an attorney and he finally got it dismissed but I still had to pay the attorney's filing fees before they would dismiss it, even though the lawsuit should have never been filed. Eventually they reported it to the credit bureau as paid in full with a zero balance. Then 2 weeks ago, they reported it as derogatory, should the original loan balance as $1,375 when I only borrowed $500 and should $510 as still outstanding and my credit score dropped 30 points.

The Speedy Cash website shows the loan from October 2010 back out as defaulted with the $510 being owed. I checked my bank account today and they took $382.50 out of my account without any authorization from me. I am so angry I don't even know what to do. I don't understand how companies like this can just do whatever they want to people and play with people's lives and their money like it is no big deal.

Well I am headed to my bank now to file fraud charges against them for taking the money out of my account unauthorized and looking for an attorney so I can sue them and get all of my money back. It is ridiculous that a person has to go through all of this because of their negligence. The undue stress they add to people's lives should be enough to shut this place down.

Speedy Cash response

I am 54 years old. I lost my job right after I got a title loan. I live off unemployment. I have called them several times to let them know my circumstances and they or we tried a payment arrangement. On this last one, I was admitted to the hospital and had a nervous breakdown because Speedy Cash calls me and threatens me to take my car. I am homeless and live out of my car.

I am diabetic and can't even afford my med. Anyway, I sent my daughter to pay the payment arrangement we had. They refused the payment here in Hutchinson. Then they gave me these excuses: I broke the payment arrangement and they could not talk to her about it. I could not call them. I was locked up because I wanted and was thinking I just want to die because I cannot afford to live on what I get.

I have been trying to get my meds for the past two weeks and Speedy Cash takes all my unemployment when I had not broken the payment arrangement. I had talked to them and I told them my situation and told them that to let me get my meds and I would give them $100 before the month was over and I got up to go get my needles and insulin and Speedy Cash had already taken my money two weeks in a row. I know congress or someone can do something about this. They say they are there to help but but when we really need for them to understand the situation, they flat out do not care. I am not trying to hide. I called them to let them know I did not break my promise to pay my payment arrangement.

They refused a payment from my daughter. The managers in Hutchinson are rude, liars because they did not keep up their part of the arrangement themselves. When is someone going to do anything about this. If something happens to me because I cannot buy my meds because they are money hungry. The ones hearing from an attorney will be them.

Speedy Cash response

Speedy Cash went into our bank account and signed that my wife and I wanted four hundred dollars into our checking account. When we found out about it and try to talk to them, that we did not asked for that amount they wanted our routing number and account. We did not give them the number, so we told our bank we have our checking and saving account with the claim department at our bank, took a look at it and said to us, "yes they did put money into it." We told our bank did not give them our approval at all. So they told me to tell my wife to immediately come in and they will stop and block them from getting into our account. So she did.

When that was taken care of, the next day or two, Speedy Cash was threatening us, stating that if we did not do something about the money. They would send a collection dept to force us to pay. When we saw that she told our bank and they told her do not worry, our money is fine, they can not touch it, we still have the letter from that company. Speedy Cash mailed us. We want you to that because we live off of my SSI and my Veteran check, that would take all of my money to live off of, and so want to file lawsuit against them and file a complaint against them too. One more thing, Speedy and AceCashExpress, both of them sell the customer information to that other party.

Speedy Cash response

Thomas- We do not take money from a bank account without express permission from the holder and a loan has to be open to do so. If you have any questions about our company, please call us at 877-315-8491 or email customerservice@speedycash.com.

I went through another finance company to help me get myself out of the jam I was in, resulting from a vet emergency bill. After getting a loan at Rice Lake, WI, Speedy Loan was paid by this third party, they took my payment from my checking account and were supposed to mail me a receipt and check, I can never get an answer. I can not find any information where to reach their headquarters.

Every Speedy Loan I have tried calling just rang and rang. This is a poor way to run a business! When I called the Rice Lake office and explained that I was going to pay off my loan, they said if I wasn't there by 2:30 P.M., my payment would be pulled out of my checking account. The following day, sure enough, my payment was pulled out of my checking account. My loan is paid off and I still have not received my receipt for my payment or my check back for my payment that came out of my checking account and payment paid for by this third party. Why can no one answer the phone at any of these Speedy Loan offices?

I went into the Speedy Cash office and made a payment, just 5 days after the previous payment, but only $52 went towards the principal. When I questioned it after I left and called back the same afternoon, I was told that after 3 days the interest rate is the same as monthly, and this could not be changed.

I was never told about that prior to this and the legal jargon of this paperwork does not explain it in layman's terms, that normal hardworking people in a bind can understand. I have not been late and was trying to pay as much as I could to complete it. No resolution to this problem will be advertised and reported to the state on down, if this is the way your office takes advantage of poor struggling people. The staff was very unprofessional, talking among themselves and it was the same person I dealt with 5 days prior. I want to cancel this contract ** and have my money returned.

I went to Speedy Cash. My stuff changed. So, I told them I would eventually pay them off but I do not have it right. They would call to leave a message. Then, they sent me a notice with attorney at law. There was no name of the attorney. I tried to call the number back. If I could get through, it would just get disconnected.

My name is Adam ** and I am a single father in need of some help regarding predatory lending by Speedy Cash. Unfortunately, I recently became a victim of this fast spreading epidemic. I lost my job, after 3 years, in January of this year. I have been unable to obtain work due to the vast majority of people with degrees that are applying for the same everyday Joe jobs I am applying for. In brief my story is as follows:

I own a 2003 Kia Spectra for which I had to get a title loan out against it in order to pay my rent and electric when my family was unable to assist me in paying my mandatory monthly bills. I obviously was unable to pay my monthly payment one month and Speedy Cash told me they could only extend my loan out a whopping 5 more days and that was as far as they could extend it. I was still unable to pay and I spoke to one of the customer service representatives and she informed me that I had a minimum of 30 days before Speedy Cash puts in the repossession order for the towing company to pick up the vehicle.

Needless to say, on the 30th day exactly, the tow truck showed up around 3:00AM and my neighbor came and woke me up that the vehicle was being towed. After a small conversation with the driver, he stated that the vehicle was going to be taken care of and there would be nothing to worry about. Feeling assured, I handed him the keys.

I called the towing company to get a total cost and what actions would be taken if I did not pick up the vehicle right away. The towing company actually worked with me, or so I thought! The towing company only charged me $600 instead of charging the $900 or so that was actually due. The towing company had my vehicle for roughly a little over a month. I picked up my vehicle on 7-29-11 and I was shocked to see the interior of my vehicle, to say the least.

Someone or a few people had literally gone through my vehicle. My brand new windshield is cracked and needs to be replaced, my window cranks are broken on both front doors, my door panels and trim have to be replaced, 1 custom speaker box with 2 kicker subs were stolen, my fog horns were removed from the trunk and decals are missing on the exterior. There is plenty more stolen and broken. The towing company told me they were going to send someone out to take pictures. No one has shown up.

I called Speedy Cash and they told me to wait until Tuesday 8/2/11 for the district manager to make contact with me regarding I did not want to make my payment to them until we all came to some kind of resolution. Speedy cash had my Kia repossessed on Monday night, 8/1/11, with my son’s car seat and a few other personal belongings.

Please if you could help me investigate this, I want this to be as public as possible. What these companies are doing is wrong. I mean after I read the fine print, I am paying 180% interest on a $1,800 loan. I keep getting the runaround and no one wants to take responsibility. I have no answers and a car that I have to pay the towing and storage on again as well as repair the entire interior.

Speedy Cash response

I was on the baseline in San Bernardino on Monday about 6pm. I had to reapply as I have a call from my bank. They had the intercom on where everybody could hear my balance. I asked the girl why she ignores me and she said that they were busy doing a lot of things at the same time. I said that I didn't like it and she said okay with a ** look. She asked for my ATM card and I said that I want to write a check. She told me that she's not going to take anything out but she did. It was only a penny but still she told a lie. They were so ghetto and not professionals at all. They were three girls, one black and two Mexicans. The way they were acting was not professional.

Speedy Cash response

I applied for a loan via Speedy Cash, who sent my information out to third party lenders. I was approved for a loan with an outrageous fee so I opted not to accept and never electronically signed any financial agreements. About three days later when I logged into my checking account, some LB Pmt Systems Company had withdrawn $9.99 from my account. Furious, I called the company and of course listened to a recording telling me that if I was inquiring about a recent transaction to my checking account in the amount of nine dollars and ninety-nine cents, please stay on the line to speak to a representative or leave your name and contact information so we can return your call promptly. Of course, no one was ever available to speak to. Meanwhile, after leaving several messages on this scam company's voicemail, I have yet to receive a call back regarding this charge.

After disputing this charge with my bank, Chase, I was told that the charge will be reimbursed, however, I was advised by the customer service representative to close my account and reopen with a new account number as this company will continue to charge me in the future. After having to discuss the embarrassing events that led up to my checking account being vandalized, the Chase bank representative who handled my dispute was awful and rude claiming that this was my fault.

Thanks Speedy Cash, although I did not receive a loan with your scamming third party loan companies, I was charged and will continue to be charged just for applying. It's a scam. These payday loan companies don't help people; they make situations worse.

Speedy Cash response

Sam- SpeedyCash.com is a direct lender and we are licensed & regulated by the state of California. We would never risk our reputation by taking money out of your account without loan documents signed and permission granted. We'd like to speak to you if you have additional comments or questions. I took out a loan for $400. The day before the installment was due, I called to pay off the loan at $526.00. They claimed I could make the payment with a debit card.

I did not want to give them my debit card info and went back and forth with them for 20 minutes. I then told the company I would complain to the State's Attorney and Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. At that point they agreed to debit the money from my checking account (the same way they issued it) and the loan paid in full. They took the money plus the installment amount. I called and emailed. They did not respond to my emails, but the customer service representative stated the company should not have taken the additional fee. I incurred an INF fee from my bank, but my bank returned the money. The company again charged my account and I filed a complaint with the BBB.

I also had to have my bank stop payment, but my bank did not charge the $35 fee because it was in dispute. The company gave me the $35 back for the fee my bank charged, but I will never take another loan with this company again.

I was charged the fee by my bank. And it was time consuming to go back and forth with the company to file complaints with several governmental and nonprofit organization just to have them correct the error.

I have never been a speedy cash customer and when I applied for a loan, they claim that I was turned down before. They also say that they ran a credit check and I did not pass. This is after I read on their website and advertising no credit check! These people are liars! As a result of this matter, I was unable to obtain a PayDay loan to pay my bills because of false advertising!

I had a payday loan and when the law was passed to discontinue these stores, the company offered to put the loan on with a title loan and make one payment. I do not have a clear title on my car, but that didn't matter. Well, the $1700 is now down to $1640 something after I have made 3 payments of over $280. I was told I am paying 180% interest annually and that only 2% of the payment is going on my balance. At this rate, I will pay back $3200 or more on this loan. I am not able to get a bank loan because of a bankruptcy on my credit. Help me please.

They did not explain that only 2% of balance would be paid on account per payment. What a scam, pay $100.00 and not quite $5.00 would be paid. What a scam! Unable to pay this off even though I have made huge payments. Help!

Speedy Cash took a payment of $300 on 4/5/10. I asked if I can get another one, they said yes. I waited 2 days and money did not go in my bank account ACH kept the money. The bank did not receive it. Bank said ACH will send it back in 2 days. I called Speedy Cash, talked to someone and she talked to my bank in a 3 way call. Then woman said everything is okay and gave me my loan and then they took out $255 dollars today 4/23/10, without my consent. Can somebody help me? Thank you.

P.S. Now I won't have food or gas in my truck, this really messed me up.

I borrowed $700.00 dollars from speedy cash May 2009 made the first payment June 2009, I have paid over 1000.00 dollars and not any of it went toward the principle, my balance of today Feb. 26, 2010 is $800.00 dollars. This is the God truth, I have made a payment of a 100,00 dollars of more each month. Fraud is some where in that company. My truck got repossessed couldn't make the payment on it. Mr. H. call three to four times a day before the payment it due, and if I am a day or two late, he will call all day long.

Approximately, one year and two months ago I took out a Title loan against my truck. The interest rate is so erroneous I have not been able to pay it off. Every time I got close something would come up, and I would have to borrow more against it. I thought there were laws protecting the consumer against loan sharks, feeding off the poor. Also, I had payday loans from them that I kept renewing to make just my average bills. Now that I am unemployed, I can barely make the minimum monthly payment.

I had previously taken out a loan with Speedy Cash for $500 and was in the store paying off the balance and was in need of another loan. I was asked if I needed $800, in which I was only given the signature portion of the loan agreement to sign. I didn't question the clerk because of doing business with Speedy Cash in the past and I had no problems with the loan or paying it off on time. When signing for the loan, I was told that I didn't have to come into the store to pay the payment because it would be an ACH payment which would come directly from my banking account of $130.47 twice a month.

A payment was rejected from my account Nov. 15 because of insufficient funds so I received a call from Speedy Cash Corporate Office (800) 273-5602. I told them that I would go into the store to make payment. I then asked Corporate how much was still owed on the loan, because I had already paid $782.82 and figured that I had only one more payment of $130.47 and the loan would be completely paid. That was when I was informed by Corporate that I still owed $967.18 with an interest annual percentage of 389.428% and finance charges of $3,886.96 with a total payment of $4,694.96 and it could not be paid off until Jan. 2011.

I then informed Corporate that that was not explained to me and I was only given the signature portion of the agreement to sign with the understanding that it was like the previous $500 loan that I had taken out before which had been paid off. Corporate told me to go into the store and talk the Sherri ** in which I did go to the store but Ms. ** was not there. I was then given a copy of the full loan agreement and and a break down of the Loan Repayment Schedule by Damon **. This is fraud because it was not explained about the interest rate and initially, I was just given the signature copy of the loan. I need to know what can be done about this.

On 2/27/2009, I went to Speedy Cash to take out a title car loan. I did for $400. In the advertisements, 2009 and 2010 AT&T telephone book (Savannah, GA) page 290, you can get an interest free loan for 30 days. I asked the lady about it (Dana **). She pointed out that the loan would have to be paid in full (the $400) before the due date on my yellow copy (3/27/2009). When I took the yellow paper home and read the fine print, I realized that the interest rate was too high. So I went to another company (TitleMax, 6826 Abercorn Street Sav. GA 31405 912-352-3018) and made out another loan to repay Speedy Cash before the 30 days. That was on 3/5/2009.

When the employee was calling for information about my title, Dana wanted to talk to me about why I was changing companies. I told her because the finance charge was too high. She then said, "Well, you'll have to have $500 to pay it out." I informed her of what the advertisement said. She then said, "Well, we don't do that anymore. And it's not in the 2010 AT&T telephone book." At TitleMax, I asked for an AT&T telephone book for 2009 and 2010 (page 290) - the advertisement was in both books. After I finished the application at TitleMax, one of their employees went with me to the bank and to Speedy Cash (to pay them for the title so they can hold it).

When I got there, Dana was on the phone to her manager. I asked to speak to the manager. She hung up. I then asked again to speak to the manager. I showed her the 2010 AT&T telephone book where the advertisement was. She called her back, but told me she was on her day off and will not be in. I still did not get a chance to speak to the manager. Then Dana said, "We don't do the 30-day free interest pay back anymore." Dana also said that if I was going to pay it out within 30 days, I would have had to fill out a card stating so. She never showed me any such card.

Nevertheless, before TitleMax could get the title, I had to pay $500. Also, leaving the Speedy Cash office, I took pictures of the front. They do not have any sign stating they are not doing the 30-day free interest anymore (not sure how clear the picture is as I took them with my camera phone) but the TitleMax employee was there and I asked her if she saw any sign out front or inside stating that they are not doing the 30-day interest free re-pay. She said she didn't. Later that evening, I was in a store talking about the event and a gentleman said his brother went through the same thing with them four months and he had to pay the interest also. And it took three months before he got his title back. Times are hard and to have to pay out more than what you need to pay is not fair.
