I would give this company ZERO stars if allowed. January 2021 I pay off my car loan in full. Received letter of pay off 2/2021 & letter of title transfer (my state does electronic title). I even received a check from Santander because I overpaid the pay off of car loan. 2nd week of April rolls around and I received a letter from Santander talking about getting my account current and it was from their debt collection department. Extremely perplexed, I called to see what all this was about as I have NO LOANS with them anymore. According to them, someone in 2020 made 2 additional payments to my account (unbeknownst to me). This makes absolutely no sense. Someone isn’t doing their job. I did mine and paid off my loan per their payoff and now they are trying to stick me with over $1300! Very poor customer service & communication!

Santander approved a subprime Predatory Car Loan with insanely high interest rate of 22%. I paid $500 a month for 2 years and it all went in their pockets, no deduction on the price of my loan. Highway robbery. I'd suggest not dealing with these crooks. For the money they took from me so far I could have bought 3 used vehicles in good working order. They refuse to refinance or renegotiate their loans with customers.

I am a retired Veteran got an auto-loan through Santander. They have been reporting differently to all three bureaus. To one bureau is on time every month (which it is correct - is on automatic pay), to another they reported three months and account closed, to another they I have been late since I got the car for over a year. I have called several times.
They never know what is going on and "...oh I will make a note someone will call you in the next 72 hours..." it takes over a full week for someone to call leave a phone number with their name... But when you return the call it does not go to that individual; it is another person who is read to write a note/comment and someone will call you in reference to your complaint in the next 72 hrs... when they do not end up yelling at you or hanging up and don't even bother to call you back. This is affecting me in BUYING MY HOME and Santander DO NOT CARE!!!! Look online... Only if I knew... They have a thousands and thousands of complaints!!!!

My financial situation recently impacted by Covid and was told by Santander I was covered for a 6 month period. I never received calls from them just a monthly statement with a monthly payment due. I call them to start to make payments and advised the acct was sent to a collection agency. Never informed me, never called me and was told they did not have my phone number. It somehow magically disappeared. They are shady and their CS reps.. don't care, dumb and ignorant towards certain people. NO HELP. BEHIND THE TIMES. STAY AWAY. I WILL TAKE ACTION! Charge me only interest for six month with the understanding that my interest would go down, not true. Never verified my info upon acquiring loan. JUST a list I have paid for years and doesn't go down as should interest rate. They renegotiated my terms after stating they didn't do that and of course added on longer I contacted the Attorney general in regards to this latest Enforcement investigation. These are the worst people and dishonest people the finance game yet they continue to remain in business.

Santander bank promises to protect their customers and our money. Two weeks ago while making legitimate purchases in my city of Brooklyn NYC, Santander bank shut off my debit card THREE times in 2 days and I had to verify my purchases. How embarrassing. However, a week later, somebody "skimmed my card and made over $500 of unauthorized purchases 800 miles away in Philadelphia PA. Not only did Santander bank not notify me, shut off my card, but allowed these purchases and told me to file a claim with them.
After filing the claim, Santander Bank decided to only give me $25.00 back from the fraudulent purchases. This is an insult to me and every customer who decided or will decide to use this bank. DO NOT USE SANTANDER BANK! SANTANDER BANK WILL NOT PROTECT YOUR MONEY. I asked to speak to a manager and my request was denied. I have now spent over an hour and a half on hold trying to speak to a manager. No one will help me. DO NOT BANK AT SANTANDER. THIS BANK IS THE WORST!!!

All I will say is that you should never accept a car loan from this company. I do not have the words or the time to explain. You do not know me but I am asking you to trust what I am saying. You must refuse this loan or you will regret. All the reviews that you have read are accurate because almost almost everything that they have reported has happened to me; except the repossession. I am about helping others and it breaks my heart to read some of these reviews. This company is about making money, and doing it by taking advantage of hard working people who are trying to take care of their families and get through difficult times.

TLDR; If you see Santander on your loan agreement, RUN AWAY! Obviously, if you are here to see how Santander is, then there are plenty of one-star reviews to be had. I've paid my bills on time with no issues and no late payments whatsoever for almost 2 years. Covid Strikes and I still pay the bill for 2 months of having no job, due to quarantine. In March, I called them and explained that I have not had a job due to Covid, and request a deferment of payment until I get my job back. I was cleared into October.
October rolls around, Covid not being any closer to being resolved, and myself still being jobless, with barely enough money to feed my daughter and girlfriend while paying rent. I called and attempted to extend the deferment, and the guy says "No Problem, I can do that for you." I get a call the next day saying that my deferment was denied and I needed to pay them $400 that week (that I do not have and Unemployment was only $323 with $900 rent due in two weeks) or they'd send it to collections. They called me one more time a day later and then never again. I called to inquire if my payments were being deferred, and the "Customer Service Rep" said it was and I was okay until after Dec.
December rolls by, and not a whisper from them. Jan 5th Rolls around and a repo guy pulls my truck out from under me 5 minutes after I get it home and bring my kid some dinner (she was the only one who got to eat that night). I can only guess he followed me home from the store or was waiting at my apartment already. I called Santander in the morning when I discover that the vehicle is missing (After reporting it stolen to the police only to be informed that a vehicle matching mine was repossessed last night).
They said that I needed to Pay $2,500 to them or they would auction it off in ten days. I tried reasoning with them, and all they did was give me the runaround, passing me from service rep to service rep, promising to pass me to managers and an executive. I called again spoke to a rep, and they gave me the same $2,500 payment requirement again. I only had $10.00 to my name. So I had to get a friend to drive me up to pick up my belongings out of the truck, paying him the last $10.00 for gas.
I had important things in there that I need, ID, Prescription Medicine, Credit Cards, My Girlfriends Wallet was in there, with her social security card and my daughter's. There was absolutely no need for them to do this without even attempting to call me first. I personally hope that the owner(s) of Santander get sued en masse and go bankrupt, so they get a taste of what they dish out. If a Collective Lawsuit is EVER started against these crooks, I want in on it. If you made it to the bottom of this, learn from my mistake; Never let Santander be your banker in an Auto Deal.

I bought a vehicle from Ford company. Was given 90 days before first payment was due. When I went to tag vehicle found out my paperwork was all wrong and I had a new lien holder. That my account had been sold to Santander. They were already finding me in default because my agreement with the ford company was not fulfilled or upheld by Santander. So the extended car payments were null and void. Also the interest rates were so much higher. I would never have agreed to these terms. I have been buried alive by such actions.

I was picked up by Santander for an auto loan. I was never sent a bill. Just a text with an 800 number to call. I was in Perú South America for three weeks and got a letter saying I was late which I expected. I called to make a payment and was told I had to set up an online account for payment which I did. They said they will take Visa. When I went to put in amount it wouldn’t go through. They said I could make a payment up to 2999. Fine. I thought I make 7 payments in a row my loan for 21000 will be paid off. Guess again. I went online to get a payoff. Could not get it.
I went the the Ford dealership where I and my fat have done business for 20 years. They got me a payoff amount and said, "Bring me the certified bank check. We will overnight it to them from our dealership" which I did. Now I try to check my online account and I can’t get through. Says ID or password not balas. What a bunch of crooks. If I see a big class action lawsuit against this company, I will be the first to jump in to testify despite what the payout is. This company destroys your finances, do harassment, will not resolve any issue, and most importantly, towed the auto you bought with shady repo towing companies, it will destroy your credit and life all for a few hundred dollars. To make the story short, they towed my vehicle which I accidentally left my credit card in the vehicle and found out that one of them stole it and used it to make an online wine purchase immediately. I filed a complaint with the owner and Santander USA. Only the owner cared but not Santander, that company could give a hoot. Then to get the car out, they told me if I send a Western Union of almost $2,000, they will not send it to auction and told me a deadline date and time before noon.
Well, guess what? I sent that money through Western Union well before noon and I called later, it was already towed to the Auction and I will have another $2,000 to pay except I can do it from their bills. I explained many times constantly for months to please remove that $2,000 but they never did. The next time, I didn't care and refused to pay into their extortion so Santander USA towed the car, again. I said good riddance and ignored their phone calls. I don't have the car ever since but they decided to ruin my credit score. All these events happened before Covid-19 Pandemic, mind you. Santander USA is up there with the Mafia!

My husband receives very little unemployment, but we took it to use to buy our son and now full-time granddaughter very few things for Christmas. She was so excited walking around the store singing Christmas songs, drinking her little cup of hot chocolate.
Finally done we come outside to find the tow truck (Repo) had followed us, not knowing and watched us get out of the truck with our very small granddaughter to go into Walmart. We come out to no vehicle on a very cold night. We had a few Christmas presents in the truck so it was devastating!!! We told you two years ago that was a lot of money a month but you assured us we could do it and eventually refinance to make the payments cheaper!!!
You took our truck in a Walmart parking lot, on a cold night with our children's FEW Christmas gifts that we are now having to fight for!!! Called Santander to let them know I missed 2 weeks of work because of covid testing and me being sick. Said I could pay it in two weeks from today, I was told that after 10 days I will be charged a late fee! Say what?! Late fee! So this company is telling you don’t get sick, you will still be charged a late fee. So Santander does not have any late fee waiver? The only other option was to extend my payment out, and I do not want to do that. So whatever you do, don’t get Covid or testing or get sent home for a week, you will pay a late fee. 2 more years of dealing with this joke of a company, who still employs a number of heavy accented individuals whom I can barely understand. After this vehicle is paid, never again Santander.

My daughter purchased a car at a dealer for $9,000 in May 2020. She put $4,000 down and took out a loan with Santander Consumer USA for $5,000. She thought the loan was being charged to one of her 3 bank accounts. It never was and after 3 months she received a letter saying she needed to pay the 3 month balance in 10 days. On the day she received the letter she didn’t have enough money to pay the balance so she waited until her next biweekly paycheck to pay it which would be 11 days later.
On the day she was going to pay the bank they repossessed her car without any notification. Although she was at fault for not making sure she was making payments, she would have if they communicated with her. She certainly had the money. No phone calls, no emails, and no mail until 90 days later and then they repossess it 11 days later. I have excellent credit and they wouldn’t allow me to co-sign, take over the loan or even pay the full balance. The customer service was terrible. It took 30 minutes on the phone to reach someone. I would not recommend these weasels.

They acquired my loan during the last six months of a five year loan. I was NOT a sub-prime loan and I have outstanding credit. For the four and a half years leading up to Santander acquiring our loan we had NEVER been late. In fact I always paid more than minimum through an automated payment. When it came time to make my final payment for a measly $175 balance, Santander stopped withdrawing the payments and didn't tell me that they were doing so. I was expecting them to simply withdraw the last payment and pay off the loan.
Unfortunately one single late payment like this hit my credit report immediately and dinged me 25 points while I'm right at the tail end of refinancing both my primary residence and an investment property. They also do NOT let you speak to a live person and didn't even bother to reach out and speak to me after I filed a Dispute through the credit bureaus. Horrible company and I will NEVER EVER do business with them again.

Went to Carmax and bought a new car. We had poor credit, but we had the money to pay for the car in full. We decided to pay $20,000 and have the remaining $8,000 loaned out to us so that we could build better credit. The only loan company that considered us was Santander. We have been paying on this loan for 3 years at $258 a month. That's $9,000 yet only $2,000 of that has actually paid off the loan itself. I imagine the other $7,000 went towards their thieving "interest rates".
We have another 3 years until the maturity date and I doubt we will have even have it paid off by that point due to their suspect practices. Keep in mind, I have been a faithful customer and have yet to have one late payment. It's difficult now more than ever as my job has decreased operational hours. They have done zero in effort to soften the blow during this pandemic. After having read these other reviews, I am not surprised. Stay away from them by all means if you can!

Was told there were no additional fees until I received bill in the mail. Company would rather charge me ridiculous fee than keep my service. Spoke to rep (and he spoke to his supervisor) who said they couldn't/wouldn't do anything. I will NEVER buy or lease with this company again. I suggest you consider the same. My husband and I are in the process of buying a house and had to wire money from my Santander checking account to another domestic account. Not once but twice - twice! - Santander's wire department failed miserably at helping us transfer the money in a timely fashion. One time, we had to wait an entire weekend despite submitting the wire well before the deadline on Friday early afternoon; the other time (now) I am still waiting for the money to be transferred despite sitting in a branch for two hours and being put on hold with customer service for an additional two hours. In the meantime, Santander has given me absolutely no information about what the hold-up is; what additional information I can provide; or even WHERE the money is. Just....infuriating.
The one positive thing I will say is that all of its branch employees and line-level customer service representatives have been incredibly friendly and have tried their best to help me. But when the bank's procedures are so labyrinthine and the wire department staff fail so miserably at providing helpful information, there's only so much that they can do.

Two and a half years ago, my wife and I wanted a car and I had bad credit and my wife had no credit. We went to the dealership and every major bank turned us down, even banks out of state. However, the finance manager said he will get us approved regardless. So, Santander at first said no but then approved us. We were grateful.
After a year of having the loan, we were having some financial problems. I called Santander and explained the situation. Now, keep in mind, I was still making payments but not the whole amount. I called to see if I can make a payment arrangement until I can catch up. They said "Pay what you can". After two months I find out that that reported us to the credit bureau's as having 2 missed payments. I was pissed. They later called me and told me that they can extend the loan for two months and that way we can be "current". I E-signed the documents but this offer was not made to us until AFTER they reported the 2 missed payments. Why didn't they offer this to us before so our credit wouldn't take a hit!!?? JERKS!!!
This year things have been good and the past 6 months, we have paid them extra money each week in addition to the regular payment. You would think they would appreciate it and offer us a much better interest rate or give us a $1,000 credit. NOPE!!! They are money hungry vultures!!! The other thing I hate about this company is that when you call them, you hardly ever reach the US and there are language barriers. WE will however get the last laugh because we are paying off this van three years early and they will not get the interest they are expecting which is anywhere from $3,000-$4,000!

I even had one representative tell me to just take his debit card to the atm and "just take the money out yourself" which is illegal. Let me start by saying I hardly ever do reviews, so when I do one it’s because it was worth the time for me! I went through Santander for my car. I told them my concerns about getting a new car. They acted like they were here for me and could help no matter the issue. Well a few months in I had lost my job due to the Coronavirus. I immediately called them and told them what was going on and asked if there was anything they could do to help. They told me no! I kept them updated on everything. I told them I had gotten a new job and told them I would be able to make a full payment by a certain date yet they took my car anyway! I called they told me to pay off what I owed, any fees and an extra month to get my car back then proceeded to tell me if I would have asked for help they could have helped me before my car was repossessed, like what the hell? I did ask!
I had gotten all the money within only 3 days of my car being taken. I called to pay it and they just refused me the car back regardless! They told me also in the beginning I needed a co signer to help with the credit and said nothing else. We’ll come to find out they put me as the co-signer and was mad asking why the other person didn’t make payments on it when I couldn’t. I told them that it wasn’t their responsibility and that’s when I found all that out, including the fact that she was only supposed to be on it for the use of her credit, but apparently now that’s not the case!
So after being with them for about a year or close to they were rude, they lied, I got all the money to get it back and they just wouldn’t give it back and the sad part I got the check to pay them the day they repossessed the car. I couldn’t cash it until the next day and they took the car while I was sleeping! So ya don’t go through them. They tell you anything and then after you're with them you're garbage. They take what they can from you then screw you over and sell your car!

When I called them to fix his name, the only thing they can change is to send them a copy of his Driving license and his account number via Fax. There's no another way to fix it, so on our day off we drove to nearest store and pay for fax to send them a copy and they probably need it 10 business days to fix they mistake.
Second what they did, when we open the account in end of August, they send us the payment right away and it was due by October 6th, so we send them a check via us mail and they cash it right away. The second payment come and it was due by November 6th, so again we send them a check ahead. They cash the check, but they didn't change due date for December 6th. I called them yesterday, and they promise to fix the due date, but they need at least between 3 to 5 business days to change the due date...
Please hear me right, we have financed the cars though Chase before, and right now we have a second car financed though Capital One and we don't have any problem with them whatsoever. 1st scenario: During the first year, fell ill and lost my job so I filed for an extension which pushes the unpaid months to the back of the loan therefore extending the expected payoff date. The representative I initially filed with was kind but screwed the process up with the dates of the extension causing the extension to only be good for 2 months instead of the 3 we discussed & verbally agreed upon. And this caused my payments to fall behind without me knowing until the delinquent notice was in the mail. They performed 'an investigation' where the 'recorded' calls were 'reviewed' by management and they deemed it to be my fault. This was a lesson learned on my part not to sign paperwork without being fully secure. The problem lied with the manner in which the matter was 'handled'; poorly & unaccountably.
2nd Scenario: Vehicle was a total loss in June of 2020. Called to report it with Insurance and Impound depts. Spoke with CS who transferred me to impound. Lady was very nice, provided her with insurance info and she told me someone would call me back. Never heard back. Received notices vehicle would be repossessed even after it was reported. Tow truck driver arrived and I told him where the vehicle was located to pick it up. Tow driver said someone would contact once it's retrieved. Heard nothing. Received two more notices in the mail as well as notifications from credit report that payments were delinquent.
Called today and spoke with Jude/Joel (?) in impound dept who was extremely difficult to hear and was rude when explaining the process. Then 'the line got disconnected'. Called back twice as line disconnected the second time and got Supe (like soup-ay) who you could already tell she had a bad attitude. I asked if she could call me back as I had been 'disconnected with' twice already and she replied asking what I need help with, completely dodging the question. Was argumentative and *extremely* unprofessional throughout the 7 minute conversation. She cut me off to raise her voice multiple times and would backpedal on her words saying one thing then saying she never said that or that I was never told something when in fact I was by Joel or someone else in their company. They notify you that the payments are due & they want their money but don't notify you how you can keep your name in the clear.
Conclusion/Take-Away: Take this lender knowing you'll get approved and you're paying much more than what the car is worth each month but if you fall into financial troubles, there should be options for you (which explains the two stars). However, do not expect smoice (smile in their voice), concern, or efficiency when connected to a live agent. As a 5th gen native born US citizen, I'm not saying this is a cultural problem in their company but this is my experience. The only positive representatives I'd spoken with were from the Caribbean/Africa or Mexico. All American accented reps (not Canadian, you can tell the difference) were the same; entitled, presumptuous, and half-baked (for lack of the word I want to use). You will always have dissatisfied clientele when you treat them less than.

My brother purchased a car from Koons and got financing with Santander Consumer USA at 24 percent financing. I was against it but he wanted the car. After 10 months we were able to refinance only to find out that after 10 on time payments only 200 dollars went to the principal of the cr so I called the company and I was told that the interest on the loan was 13.80 per day which equals to 390.00 a month. I said, "You people are crooks." So after paying 18,000 for the car finances 21,000 my interest is 28,700 so I will never own this car. This company is a rip off. They take advantage of people with less than perfect credit and people become trapped and the sellers are worst because they don’t tell you so you are screwed at the end. I am asking that anyone who reads this to please contact Better Business Bureau. We have to take a stand against these people. Thank you.

Financed my vehicle thru Santander at a 23% interest rate because of slow credit history on a 6 year note (yes they had me). Had it withdrawn directly from my checking account which was my choice. My bank info had been hacked so I had to open a new account. I did not advise Santander and didn't realize my payments were not being paid until I got notice from a credit bureau that there was issues. I immediately brought my account current with no notice from Santander. Santander had advised they tried to get in touch with me which was a lie. They wouldn't work with me on the additional fees they charged due to this incident. Mind you I had not missed a payment in 4 years. Then as I paid my truck off, full term, with the interest that it was, they could not produce a title.
After about 4 calls to Santander, broken promises to call back, things that were supposedly sent to me that hadn't been, still no title. I called the DMV as they advised and was told it was a paper title and that Santander had the title. Calling Santander to advise what DMV said they said that wasn't true and are now sending me the release of lien so I can go pay for a lost title. I know on cars I have financed before thru Ford or whoever, I have always received my title when the car was paid off, and didn't have to pay additional to get it. You would of thought they made a killing off me already and they're still trying to screw me. I am very dissatisfied with this high rate company. Certainly would NOT recommend.

This company willfully practices horrible predatory lending loans. I cannot believe there has not been a class action lawsuit filed and they are able to sleep at night knowing that they are raking in literally billions of dollars off of the collective high interest loans they approve. My car loan was a approved at a whopping 23% and sometimes it is upwards of 25%. I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General's Office. I made the horrendous mistake of signing this loan contract because it was my first car loan AND the dealer (of course) said I would be able to refinance after a year- well fast forward 5 years later I have been told on multiple occasions "this type of loan" cannot be refinanced.
I am FURIOUS, and OUTRAGED, that we live in a society where this type of practice is allowed and accepted just to cut a deal. THEY ARE RAPISTS as far as I am concerned and should be charged as such. I WOULD STAY AWAY FROM SANTANDER CONSUMER USA at all costs. I will never do any business with them again once out of this loan. PRAISE GOD. THE TRUTH WILL BE KNOWN. Santander is well-known for their predatory lending practices. The abusive business practices of this company are appalling and supported by multimillion dollar lawsuits. For auto loans, Santander eliminated GAP insurance years ago, which protected consumers in the case of their vehicle being a total loss by providing the funds that insurance does not cover (since insurance is based on vehicle value, not on loan amount due). This allows Santander to keep your car payment at the same rate without reducing it, no matter how long you have left in your original lease terms under the guise of “not having collateral of your car” which means they will not work with you to reduce or lower your payments. My APR is over 25%, which is absolutely absurd.
Santander targets vulnerable consumers who are in need of a loan but have not established the best credit history. They have extremely high fees and unfair loan structures. They specifically target individuals likely to default and provide disadvantaged loans to profit off of consumers being upside down and indebted to their very poor quality services. Do not use this loan company and help others avoid the same mistake. Despite lawsuits, they’re too powerful because of their predatory lending to be taken down easily.

During this pandemic I felt I had no choice as I needed the money to help out in other areas since my earnings from my job were cut by almost 60-70%. I was informed that my payments would begin in May and I have made the May and June payments on-time totaling $1,170.00 which all of it went towards the interest on the loan.
I called to speak to a CSR to gain a better understanding on my account and was informed my daily interest is almost $12.00 per day. Yes, I have bad credit and understand how things work but she informed me that I'd probably have another month or two to go before anything was applied to the principle of the loan. You'd think during a U.S. crisis that this company would be more empathetic and sympathetic to their customers needs but they did the exact opposite in enriching themselves even further while people are literally not sure what awaits tomorrow. I did my own research but my mistake was taking their expert know-how telling me they will take care of the title.
After the buy out they asked me to send back my title packet for the DMV that they sent so they can do it themselves but it has been 8 months. They would not give me back the title packet at all saying they will take care of it. It has been 8 months since and the car's registration has expired. Since I have now a valid status I can do it myself but they refuse to send the title packet to me so I can register myself. I had to defer 3 payments of 499.59 (due to Covid-19 and everything was on lockdown), guess what? They added 5 months to the 72 month payment plan, now it's 77 months that I owe. Now I owe 18,286.00 with an interest rate of 27.89% which comes to 21,468.00. Total owed 39,754.00. Ironically they lost my payment history of 5,500.00. I have all receipts. I told Santander to come get the car. it's value now is 8,000.00.
The dealership sold me a service for 2,000.00 which is limited, here's the catcher the paperwork that I have says I was only charged 750.00. Bill of sale says 2000.00. I have filed 2 Top action suits and with my Attorney General. I don't care if my credit rating of 648 goes down (I had no credit bad or good when I bought the car). I tried refi. Nobody will touch it. My only option is, I am not paying over 44,000.00 for a car that is worth 8,000.00. Come get it!! They know where it is!!

I began paying payments right away as I like to stay ahead. By January 2020 I had made a call as they didn't show my next payment due appropriately, should have been months ahead. They showed me due for the current month. They said it would be corrected. 2 weeks later it still wasn't corrected. I connected with Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Provided my complaint. They acted on correcting my account only after my complaint to CFPB, that could fine them for following protection acts that are in place for the consumers' benefit.
Lo and behold. Same issue not even a month later. This time I asked for the executive complaint department and wouldn't budge, get me through now. Even with the executive complaint department they didn't correct my information appropriately, as they put practices in place on their end that you can only pay ahead on your account by 3 months.

Plus dealer financial rep acts like they are giving us a Deal at 5.99% interest rate while both my wife and I have 850+ credit scores, after sales manager tries to pull a fast one on me, but fortunately the only ethical person at the dealership, my salesman' had my back. My messages to Chrysler Capital after 2 phone calls failed to provide any meaningful info.
Message about First call. 'I purchased a new 2020 Jeep Compass in Ohio this past Saturday 3/14/20. I live in PA. I financed through Chrysler Capital. Can you PLEASE tell me how long it will take for me to get the Ohio title with Chrysler Capital listed as the lienholder so that I may procure a PA title? Rep I talked to told me that I would have to do a change of state form, go to my DMV, send it in to Chrysler etc.'
Then message on 2nd call. 'Second rep again not familiar with the scenario, but insists that she is. She tells me info. completely contrary to what the dealership told me, I ask for a manager. She puts me on hold 15 minutes without getting a manager, but comes back to tell me I will not get a title until it has been perfected which takes 30 to 60 days, plus another 2 to 3 weeks for me to get a copy of the title. I explain to her that by that time, my Ohio temp plates will be expired! I ask for manager AGAIN, put on hold for another 20 minutes then disconnected! Thanks!'
Their response to these messages was - call us - hilarious! Then called my dealer and they explained that I would get the title and sales tax check in 2-3 weeks from date of purchase. Now 2 weeks after I purchase - Chrysler offers new 0% deals etc. (Pandemic deals) I ask them what assistance they can provide since I just purchased and wife may lose her job. They say nothing can be done with the rate, but they will push back my 1st payment a couple months, however they will be charging me Additional Interest for those 2 months - gee thanks - great assistance - charging me more money! So try calling them again and now just get disconnected! So, sending them more messages that no one has yet answered. Looking to pay this off asap, so if I do ever have a question or need assistance I can actually talk to a knowledgable person or actually get assistance for a once a century type scenario.

Just the worst experience I have ever had in bill pay. Terrible.

Friday, 20 March 2020, my wife, Sandy ** called Amazon customer service. She talked to a man who called himself Mike. Told her he would have to call her back. He did. He had a heavy accent, sounded Indian. Sandy was seeking a refund, $500 refund for a transaction she did not make. He told Sandy he could take care of the refund if she would allow him to access her computer, and her bank account. He would simply add the amount to her available balance. Said he would split the amount into two entries.
Made the entry, $2250, not $250. Said he would try to fix it but repeated his error. Told Sandy not to tell anyone. He would lose his job. He would call back in a few hours. Get it all fixed up. A few hours later, Sandy checked her account. Available balance along with $3000 from overdraft account, gone. Two visits to the local bank, and discussion with Santander fraud department. Amazon, we were told, is responsible. Suggested retaining attorney if Amazon refuses responsibility.
I did not know about this until it was done. I called Santander customer service. They told me no way should someone, even with Sandy’s password, be able to manipulate bank account funds. But the man, who answered the Amazon customer service phone number did exactly that. A phone call to Amazon, and we are out several thousand dollars.
Here’s the thing, as my first contact person at Santander Customer Service stated, no one, with only customer, (Sandy’s), customer password authority, should be able to manipulate, increase/decrease, available funds in a Santander customers account, and in real time, instantly reflected on screen. A customer’s password should not allow this level of vulnerability. It also violates accounting practices. I am a computer systems specialist with an accounting and database management background. Unwise as it was to grant access to account, Santander’s IT and accounting department, as accepted security practice, must have fail-safes built in to prevent such a security breach. Please accept responsibility and restore missing funds.

We are in tax season for God's sake and did explain I would've covered whatever fee owned as soon as I would either start working or receive my credit. Whichever came first.
..Regrettably, this is the world we live in, a world where big Corporations feeds and belittles the less fortunate when the unexpected comes. I missed January and February payment, on March 12 days after my second missed payment they Repoed the vehicle. Not one attempt to even roll the payments in the back of my loan and remotely even try to consider other options. Was told 1300 dollars. Ok paid that day, next day received letter saying I'm liable for 22,000 dollars because I turned the car in early. Called chrysler capital again, after hour on phone, was told that I would be liable for the difference between what the car brought at auction when it was "disposed of" and the residual value. I made a payment to get my car back on a Monday and was told to call the yard to schedule an appointment to pick up my car. When I called the company on Tuesday to get the car I was told that they weren't in possession of the car since Thursday of the previous week. I called Chrysler back and only then did they tell me that the car was sent to auction!!! They promised I would get the car back on Wednesday as they had put the ball in motion with the transport company. They told me to call the transport company on Wednesday morning. When I called the transport company they informed me that Chrysler hadn't released the necessary fees to them in order to transport the vehicle back to the designated yard. They advised that I call Chrysler back.
I called Chrysler back and was told that yes all fees were paid and I would get the car back later on in the day Wednesday. Notes were in the system and that they were on top of it. I later found out that Chrysler didn't release the necessary fees until middle of the day that Wednesday. I called back and asked to speak to a manager who was very unprofessional!! I use the vehicle for work purposes and lost 4 jobs as a result of Chrysler's mishap!!! The manager basically said in so many words "hey it is what it is and we are not offering anything". He told me that the car wouldn't come back until Friday and based on experience I wouldn't get the car back until Monday of the next week.
I would have been more understanding if I was told the proper information from the beginning but to be told 4 different things about the same car caused a major inconvenience, loss of money due to not having the car!!!! Based on my experience with customer service at Chrysler Capital I would never purchase another Chrysler. They say the customer is always right but in this case there was no regard for the customer or for the obvious mistakes made and miscommunication throughout the process.

I took out an auto with these guys in 2015, I had a good-paying job and my mom took out a joint loan from them because that's what we qualified for. My mom had already a house she was still making satisfactory payments on, but only this bank approved a lower price. It was the first time I and my mom actually bought a car from a dealership because she likes older cars, I like newer. We went to the dealership. Sign the papers, honestly, I regret signing things from only skimming over the page, because it was a lot of things we didn't need that was added to the loan. Santander didn't put a payment on my account for two months straight, I called them and they told me there were no payments due, I offered to mail it in they said its okay. By the third month, these crooks said I owed roughly $900, I went bizarre, but because I needed the car I paid it.
I made on-time payments for three full years, and little do you know all I was paying for was the interest rate. $389 per month, because my interest rate was near 25% that's what I was stuck with. I ended up losing my job for at least 6 months, didn't qualify for unemployment, and I was basically screwed. I fell behind them for about six months straight, I know that's a long time, anything they offered me they'll persuade me on what jobs to do, UBER LYFT, etc. and I asked would they lower the cost since I am basically on the road everyday driving more than the average miles per year, they said no. Then they found out that I did not have any insurance on the car and demanded me to get insurance or they will repo the car. In the end, the repoed the car.
I had started a new job, now this debt sits on my credit. I can't get approved for anything, and this sucks badly. I wish I wasn't so dumb and eager to get a car so fast. I put my mom underwater because she couldn't afford to pay two cars and insurance at the same time. I tried my best to find employment during the course of the months, but living in Miami if you don't speak Spanish it's really getting hard. Besides that point, teenagers if you're reading this, do not hurry to get a car so fast, save your money, build your credit up to about 680 and find a credit union in your area to help finance a car. Do not go with Santander, and if the dealership tells you, "we're searching for more banks to approve you" runnn. Do not stay there, they will find the worst of the worst to finance you and that's my living right now.

I am a victim of the Woolsey Fires in California, let's just start there. Needless to say after losing my home and all of my possessions I was a tad out of it. As soon as my homeowners insurance began to give me trouble, I reached out to all my creditors to alert them of my situation. All of them except Chrysler offered me some type of payment arrangement. So I continued to make my payments ON TIME and in the midst of my family's crisis I forgot to make 1 payment by the due date. I called within days of due date to make payment, they had assessed late fees and refused to remove them. I begged them and explained my situation but refused to take fees off.
I gave up trying to argue with them (I don't have much fight left in me) but to my absolute horror, the late fees they charged were not applied against late fees at all, the idiot customer service rep applied what was supposed late fees towards my next month's payment, leaving me with outstanding late fees that have kept accumulating month after month. My most recent phone call just last week to Chrysler Capital and the customer service rep tells me "Gee I am sorry, we have a lot of customer service reps making mistakes" and then refuses to remove the single late payment from my history, I then asked to speak to the manager, He could have cared less about my situation. I begged him, Explained to him that one year later and I still have no settlement, living in a hotel with my two children, am in the middle of a divorce (fire has just been too much).
I am attempting to secure a home loan and the negative reporting has dropped my rating significantly. It was one time and I pleaded for goodwill. Nope nothing. I am disputing with the 3 credit agencies but it doesn't seem to be working. I have attached natural disaster to the negative report. You'd think that a single late payment following a Presidentially Declared Disaster would qualify for a goodwill gesture? Nope, not Chrysler. To start this off, I first got an auto loan with this company about a year and a half ago. It's the company the dealership chose for me. Up until November of 2019, I never had a problem with them. That November a deer ran out in front of me, and I hit it. My insurance company ended up totaling out my car, and sent a large payment to Santander. After that payment I would only owe a little over $900 on my auto loan. After the big payment was processed, I called their customer service to see if they could add to my loan, or lower my monthly payments if additional money couldn't be borrowed.
First of all, it was difficult to understand the woman. After she finally understood that I wanted to add to my loan, she put me on hold for quite some time in order to ask someone else. She then tells me it's their policy that they can't add to loans. Okay fine, I can get another auto loan through someone else. I then asked if my monthly payments could be lowered because at the time my payments were $245, and that is just ridiculous to pay on the $900 that is left. She put me on hold again and said she had to ask someone else. She came back on the line and told me that they couldn't lower what I owe to them. That isn't even what I asked.
I corrected her and said, "I'm not trying to get you to lower the amount I owe, I'm trying to see if my monthly payments could be lowered." She then got very nasty with me and said, "I knew what you meant, the answer is the same!" What?!?! Never in my life have I ever had a customer service rep talk to me this way! I finally had to just hang up. So to be honest, unless you want to risk this happening to you, I suggest going with a different company. Don't risk getting screwed over!!!!

I had experienced a loss after Hurricane Harvey, and I financed a vehicle from CarMax through Santander in October 2017. It was a 2015 Infiniti Q40. I had no issues until that vehicle was in a car accident and totaled (July 2019). My situation was a bit unique because my insurance agent at the time did not do his due diligence to ensure that my plan had no lapse, so my total loss was covered under the agency's supplemental insurance. Now I communicated all of this to Santander, every department that contacted me, yet they stated that they had to "repossess" my vehicle to ensure payment, even after I had the insurance representative contact them to communicate that the claim would be paid. Santander continued to charge me miscellaneous fees. I still moved forward with following their instructions but they became dismissive as soon as they "repossessed" my vehicle.
I called several times to speak with someone higher up and even filed a formal complaint. I have not received any feedback or correspondence about my complaint to this day. I continue to receive phone calls for payment but never spoke with anyone about what the "misc fees" were that they applied to my account that would not allow my account to be paid in full. Even when I did speak with someone regarding payment, no one was ever able to explain what the "misc fees" were.
I am very disappointment with how I was treated and how my total loss was handled. When I called to make sure the insurance checks would be applied to my account I was treated as if I was a liar and told to contact their "third party". The third party that they work with (Allied) is entirely another issue, but they were rude and dismissive, just as Santander. I could barely get ahold to the individual that was helping me. I also had to check behind all of his work. When I contacted him I didn't get a response unless I emailed him, and when I complained about him to the manager I didn't even get a call back from the manager.
My accident was in July 2019 and I still have yet to speak with someone to get this account resolved, nor has my complaint been addressed. To date both insurance checks have been applied to my account, yet a "misc fees" was just applied in December 2019 to my account. I refuse to pay anything until I speak with a representative about my complaint. Even after the total loss settlement checks were applied to my account, my account was not paid in full. Not only that, Santander has a check from cancellation of service plan that they have not yet applied, or refuse to apply, to my account. Probably so they can get more money from me...

EVERY TIME I called in I always got a nasty rude service representative and I have never in my life not cared for a company like this one. Needless to say my car got towed. Upon deciding to buy a new car, the dealer suggested using Chrysler Capital for financing in order to get all the incentives available. From the beginning, we have had trouble with this company. We never received a payment book/bill from the company. Upon calling them, they said they would send out another bill. We never got that one, either. When we called again, it was discovered that they had our address wrong this whole time. By now, we are one payment behind. We make the payments and hope for smooth sailing. Several months later, we get a bill saying that we are behind one payment, so we owe 2 payments and a fee because our check didn't clear. Our bank checked into the problem. It seems Chrysler Capital had keyed in our account number wrong, so the check came back because the account couldn't be found. So, the mistake was on Chrysler's end.
We sent the correct amount, on time, and they wanted to charge us for their mistake. After talking to them, we were assured the extra charge would be dropped because it was their error. Our next bill indicated a charge for the mix-up. So, another phone call, and no one could fix the issue. They said our local bank charged this fee. That doesn't even make any sense! But they refused to take the charge off. We informed them we would be paying off this loan with Chrysler, and transferring it to our bank. We had the paperwork already done. They didn't seem concerned to be losing a customer over a small fee they insisted we owed because they made an error.
I checked Chrysler Capital's reviews online, and it was no surprise to see many one and two star ratings. I read of many cases similar to ours. Some cases even indicated that Chrysler records continued to indicate a loan was open after being paid off/transferred to another company. This affected the customer's credit rating. So we're not sure we're out of the mess called Chrysler Capital yet! My advice, go with a better company than Chrysler Capital. The right hand doesn't seem to know what the left is doing. They have no concern about what is best for the consumer. They evidently have some number identification problems, as well as mathematics concerns. I don't have anything good to say about them, unfortunately.

My vehicle was paid off and my account was paid in full and there is an overpayment on the account. I spoke with Santander and asked when I will receive the overpayment as a refund. I was told that it can take up to 45 days to get the refund back from them. I completely understand having to cash the check and everything but it's just like any other bank cashing a check. There is a limited number of days it can take for it to clear.
My problem is why do they hold the refund for almost a month. They have due dates. Things need to be paid and they want their money when it's due or they add interest. If they hold our refunds why dont we get interest on it then? I know that doesnt happen but I'm making a point. There's no reason a refund shouldn't be processed once the bank clear the check and it doesnt take 30-45 days to clear a check. Since the account is now closed they should mail our refunds within at least 2 weeks at the longest. Where doesn't the money sit during this time and what is the hold up and just processing a refund when it's owed to the consumer. We want our money just the same as the company wants theirs. In a timely manner of course. 30-45 days is just an absurd time frame. So I won't get it until next year? I mean come on now.

I have been with Santander now for over 4 years. They are the worst finance company I have ever had. I had damage to my home by hurricane Harvey that was not covered at all and our state of Texas was a natural disaster area. Not only did they not offer assistance, but because I used the limited extensions that they offer no other programs were available. They close out any complaints or concerns that are emailed in writing saying to contact customer service which shows the level of unhelpful behaviors the company has.
I meant to refinance with another company before I hit 100,000 miles but once my home was destroyed I missed that cut off. I’m so upside down for a car that’s not worth it but because I pay my debts and don’t want a repo on my credit I continue to remain stuck in the worst car deal of my life. Now I’m working an additional job to come up with enough money to get out of this disaster of a deal. Warning they are not there when you need assistance. The service is awful, and the corporate leaders can care less about their consumers. I would never use them and have learned a valuable lesson going forward. Do your research. Santander is the worst company EVER.

Was put in hold only to be told no. They just wanted to give me an extra 5 days to come up with the money I told them I wouldn't have for another 30 days. I guess this is how they treat their loyal customers. Will never finance a car through them again.

I never missed a payment with this company and was always on time. My father recently passed and I received a life insurance settlement. I decided to purchase a different vehicle and trade the car the loan was on to the same dealership I had actually bought it from. Where the loan was actually acquired. The payoff was $11875... Fine. I wrote a check to the dealership for that amount and the extra to completely pay off the new vehicle. That dealership was in charge of payoff to Santander and to acquire the title from them. Again fine, shouldn’t have been a problem. About a month and a half later I started receiving calls from Santander and upon contacting them back I was informed my payoff was never made.
I was immediately mad at the dealership so I called them. Nope, they made the payment 4 weeks ago and the check has cashed/cleared their bank. Interesting. I took this information back to Santander. They are now claiming I need to keep making payments on this loan while they investigate which inevitably seems to be their error. They also are going to credit report me and will not remove it even if it ends up being their error (which based on reviews I’ve read, it is.). First off absolutely will I not keep paying for a vehicle I don’t own anymore (I already have the title to the new one). Secondly they are threatening to repossess it... I mean I guess good luck. If they can’t do that they are threatening to sue, again good luck.
They just keep saying I need to make payments to them in the meantime and they will “refund” me. I guess if this was any other company I’d consider it, I have the money. However my fear is that the payoff amount now is $1000 more than it was the middle of October. (Which quite frankly is weird too. I was actually going down each month about $250. My payment was $315, but I get interest.... The math does not compute). Who’s to say they won’t keep my money to settle the “new” payoff... I don’t know. The customer service is also less than helpful. I swear if this goes further I’m going to sue them. This is ridiculous. The car is freaking paid off and not even in my possession. I have a new vehicle and this is asinine.

I bought a boat in 2006 while a resident in California. I have since moved to Colorado, and in July, sold the boat to a local couple. I have been trying since that time to get the title to this boat/trailer from Santander (4 months). Because California does a paperless title, it is required for the original lienholder to file a ELT 227 form to request electronic title. Santander to date has not done this. I have called daily, I have lost time from work. At one point in this I was told by Santander I could go to California myself with a REG227 form that was notarized by them and obtain paper title.
I purchased airfare, rented a car and hotel, missed time from work and went with the form that Santander assured me was the correct form to the DMV, only to find out that the ONLY way to get title is to have Santander file a ELT 227 form to request paper title. It is now 4 months later, I do not have title, I cannot bond for title in Colorado because they show a lienholder in California. Santander has not held up their end of the bargain, they don't return calls and they don't answer emails. I am having litigation pursued from the buyers of the boat as they understandably want their titles. Do not ever consider this company for a loan, they will not fulfill their end of the agreement and you will be without title for your property.

This is a terrible company and if I could give it 0 stars, I would. If you like to sit on hold forever, deal with disinterested customer service people who could care less about you or your issue, and enjoy dealing with a company that operates with zero sense of ethics, then Chrysler Capital (it's really Ally Financial in disguise) is the company for you. I turned a lease vehicle in 7 months early and replaced with another vehicle leased through Chrysler Capital. I was nowhere near the end of my mileage, but started receiving offers in the mail from dealers to turn the car in early, so I did. The dealer agreed to cover my remaining lease payments as part of the deal.
Then Chrysler Capital sent me a bill for $5,100 in the mail, claiming that because the car was turned in early, I owed them the difference between the residual value of the lease, and what they actually received for it at auction. Apparently, had I waited and given them a car that was 7 months older with more miles on it, it wouldn't be my fault that they calculated the residual value wrong and took a loss at auction.
Going through the dispute resolution process was a nightmare of epic proportions. When you call there, you are put on hold for literally 10-20 minutes at a time, each time you get escalated, while someone "reviews the notes" of your case. While you're on hold, you are subjected to a jazzy little tune that is literally 5-10 seconds long, then repeats, over and over and over again. Regardless of who you deal with, the best you're ever going to get is treated like a meaningless number to them. They will recite contract language and even get a nasty attitude with you, basically telling you that they don't care what you do, or whether you ever do business with them again.
We have another lease vehicle leased through our local credit union and the experience couldn't be any more different. I highly recommend that you avoid Chrysler Capital and Ally Financial at all costs and choose your own bank or a local credit union that will treat you like you matter, and not pull shady moves trying to transfer the cost of their mistakes onto you. As a matter of fact, I'm sitting on hold with them right now - 27 minutes in - and I'm using the time to share this experience with as many people as I can. Worst. Company. Ever.

I have been dealing with this company going on 4 yrs. I still owe the same amount I did 4 years ago driving the car off the lot. I took notice each payment I made that more than 70% went to interest rest on principal. There were times the whole payment went to interest regardless if it were $300 or $600. It's irritating because I was always told after the first year or two you pay more into principal but was never the case. If you are late 1 day they charge you $15.94 plus report you delinquent to the credit agencies. Sometimes it was reported back to back making my score drop 33-45 points at a time. This business cares only about themselves no matter how much they pretend to act like they are trying to help. They deferred payments for me which meant 2 payments I am behind got added to the back extending my loan each time adding $100 + $15.94 to it.
How can someone having a hard time with my job cutting my hours make ends meet and keep a car like this but I gave them 4 years to help me and now they want to come get the car repair it because it's always broken, then auction it then sale it and charge me the balance. I will be without transportation now but they are no more concerned then they were adding late fees, and extra charges while accumulating interest from every payment I made. It's upsetting when you pay on a vehicle $400 a month and not see the balance go down but a few dollars in 4 yrs.

State Farm paid out the entire value of the vehicle less the $700. I was partially upside down on the loan and made subsequent payments well into 2013 to cover the $700 and the difference on the loan. I was sent my lien release all paperwork and eventually sold the car. Everything was accepted by the Dept of Motor Vehicle, NY and I was off on my way.
Fast forward, Santander continues to this day to try and bill me for just over $1300. Saying they were fees and missed payments. I've been disputing this for years now sending them, the credit reporting agencies copies and details of every document and correspondence. I was fortunate in that I saved and emailed electronic versions of the documents to all parties including my insurer. Well here we are 7 years later and they now reported each missed payment since 2013 as a charge off. Not the account but each individual payment. It is also as stated 7 years and should be removed from my credit reports. They claim that the negative report only starts in 2013 not at the time of the total loss nor the age of the account.
At this juncture I have retained an attorney for dispute removal and for damages over the years affecting my credit score, history and reports. DO NOT use this company. Once you are in bed with them they are never getting out even when you have satisfied the terms and can provide them documentation from their own company.

Absolutely horrible experience!! I read on this site about someone being a month late - 1 late payment on their car loan/lease which is what happened to me only because I was sure I was on auto-pay...Not like the previous entry who had a “good” experience and their lives moved forward without being compromised, I just got off the phone with Blanca /account executive (?) who has DECLINED to give a one-time goodwill late removal on my account. Chrysler proceeded to submit my one - late payment to all 3 credit bureaus, my FICO score has dropped over 45pts!!! And this is the very FIRST time ever I have had one late payment due to thinking I was on auto-pay!! Ever. I’ve had “exceptional” credit for over 45years.
I spoke with a Chrysler Capital agent on Sept 13 in regards to my policy about car rental in case I needed one when my car had an issue — at no point in time did the agent indicate I was late! Had not made a payment. Ever! Blanca’s response: "I’m sorry but the agent does not have to report to you that you’re late in payment." Ridiculous and unacceptable. I spoke with three supervisors at each credit bureau and a “goodwill removal” is practiced by ALL companies, including them!
Now I’m questioning why would the previous entry be entitled to one late payment without it being submitted to the credit bureaus?? And why was I not allotted the same courtesy?!!!? Time to take this matter to the next level... I have my ideas on what to do, anyone else care to share your views if you’ve experienced same/similar issues with this horrible company? Thanks.

In May 2019, I financed a 2019 Ford Escape through Santander Consumer USA. Fast forward to July 12 2019, I was robbed at gunpoint while at an ATM and forced to empty out my bank account. I was subsequently beat and ended up being in a coma. It was so bad that evidently, my family was advised to prepare for the worst as they didn’t think I would regain consciousness. I awoke on September 18, 2019. I was kept for observation and was cleared to return home on September 26, 2019. I retrieved the vehicle from impound on this day as well.
I had noticed several missed calls from Santander once I started going through all the calls and messages while I was hospitalized, due to not receiving payments. It is just me, both of my parents are deceased and I do not have a mate to pay bills on my behalf. My plan was to contact Santander on the morning of 9/27. I had just spent over 2 months in the hospital and just wanted a good night's sleep in my own bed. They had to have been looking for the vehicle for sometime, because oddly enough, I come out of my home on the morning of 9/27 to see the vehicle is gone.
I immediately contacted Santander and was advised the vehicle had been repossessed. I explained my situation and asked what I can do to retrieve my vehicle. Santander stated they will not allow me to retrieve the vehicle, unless the loan was paid in full. The amount past due at the time was $1800. The full loan is in excess of $25,000! Their reasoning for not allowing me to just pay the past due amount and retrieving the vehicle is because I had not responded to their numerous attempts to contact me and that I have proven to be an unreliable customer for failing to make timely payments. I reiterated the fact that I was in the hospital and that I have documentation to prove this. Santander still refused to budge even after speaking to several supervisors. They would all respond with “It's not personal sir, it’s just business”
Not one person I spoke with showed any empathy in regards to my situation. A supervisor named Maria (Employee ID: **) even began to yell at me when I asked her if she knew what it was like to be hospitalized for an extended period of time. Her words were, “This isn’t about me sir.” I just wanted her to put herself in my shoes.
Now I no longer have a vehicle, I will more than likely be stuck with a hefty bill, and my credit is shot now that it shows up as repossessed. When I research the vehicle, it’s estimated between $10,000 and $15,000 based on the mileage. When they auction this vehicle, they will not get anywhere close to the full $25,000 loan amount meaning I will be billed for the remainder of the loan amount. LONG STORY SHORT STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY BECAUSE AS THEY STATED “IT IS JUST BUSINESS.” They will not do anything to help you if you experience hardship.

All of the local Santander branches in my area were transferred to another bank. According to the website there are no longer any physical branches in the state of PA. Prior to the switch over I was notified. I am the custodian of 2 savings accounts for my children. At no point did my children receive notice of the switch over, informing them of any required action they must complete prior to the change (they are now 18 & 20).
I was under the impression that ALL of the accounts I was named on would be transferred to the new bank. WRONG. My children's accounts were left with Santander. I called them to see what was going on. The first customer service rep I spoke to was very helpful, spoke to someone above her that stated Santander had approx 180 accounts that did not make the transfer, that it was a "computer glitch", and that it would be resolved in 3 business days.
8 days later, I again called Santander customer service, only to be told that the accounts did not transfer because both my children were listed as the primary account holders and had not requested their accounts to be switched over (even though they were not notified in any way to do so). To correct the issue, we need to either visit a Santander location of which there are none, or send a notarized letter for each account to Santander. Why in God's name would I have to send a notarized letter??
I requested to speak to someone higher. I was put on the line with the Level 2 customer service rep. I asked why I had not been notified of the information given to me by the previous rep, and why I had been told 8 days ago that the problem would be fixed in 3 business days? "Level 2" just reiterated the info previously given to me, and went on to repeatedly give me the same canned answers. I asked why the children were not notified of any required action prior to the change- "Level 2" did not know & made no attempt to find out.
I asked why I needed a notarized letter for each account (that I would have to pay to have done)- "Level 2" told me that was Santander's resolution. I asked him to explain why these were the only 2 options- He told me that this was "reality" and I would have to accept it. I stated that he was not helping me in any way, but just giving me the same canned answers each time. He again told me that this was Santander's "resolution" and that I would "have to accept reality". At no point did he give me another option, even when I said that I just wanted my kids to get their money back.
Going online to the Help page for Santander, I see that you can close an account by calling the customer service # (which is where I had called previously). I also had the option to transfer money to an account outside of Santander. Neither of these options were disclosed to me by customer service on the phone. So, I transferred ALL of my children's money into other accounts that were not with Santander, then had the children call the customer service # and close their accounts.
This experience with Santander's customer service rep was the absolute worst. Ironically, it states on the main Santander page that 9-18 (today is 9-20) is customer appreciation day, and that they respect customers & their money, and are committed to giving the best customer service 365 days a year. My experience does not find that to be remotely true.

I’ve noticed that they add the next month before your even due for that month making it impossible for your to pay back any money to get caught up! It’s a way for their company to cheat!!! They always have a different number than the other phone options. At this point it’s time to sue!!! I use REV phone call recording app to record all my phone calls to show to a judge or lawyer. I have legal rights to record them if they refuse to tell me the truth and lie to me. I’ve been reading through the other complaints and they used the $1800 ** scam on me before, paid that $1800.00 to keep my car out of repossession and they turn around a day later and have the nerve to ask for another $200-400!!!!
Only after lying to me and telling me they will undo the active repossession! But they make sure that it’s only undone for a week after you’ve paid all they money to try to get caught up. We’ll guess what, now it’s time to SUE!!! You have rights as clients!!! You have rights not to be harrassed by their phone calls, you have rights not to be lied to financially on what you owe and where your at currently. Now it’s my turn! I’ve lost so much sleep and I’m sick to my stomach ever night to have to need my car for work, otherwise I would have given it up years ago!!! But I’ve learned to SUE!
Go to your local downtown clerk in the court house, ask for the paperwork to sue and you pay $60-110 give or take, file the paperwork and show proof Santander USA is going against fair credit act!!! Call/email your State General attorney file a complaint/call BBB FILE A compliant, you can sue Santander USA for up to $25,000.00 in small claims court. They either have to update your account with accurate information that you’ve paid and or they lose and you win the very quick small court case and can just pay off what you owe and get a new car with someone else! It’s Time to SUE Santander USA TIKI Denver CO.

HORRIBLE COMPANY! Bought my child a car and financed it through Santander. Soon after we did a reorganization of our finances, (ch. 13 bankruptcy), and Santander took away our online account and refused to send us monthly statements! I have no way to access our information so I have no idea what’s being paid where on this account! I can’t let the car go back because my child is using it! Also, I called to find out our balance and it seems like they haven’t applied one of our payments! I’ve never missed a payment, and am actually a month ahead! This is the WORST COMPANY EVER!

If I could give 0 stars I would! My husband bought a truck in August 2013, sticker price, tags and everything. When it was all said and done was just under $13,000. He was in the military at the time, and they knew that so he should've gotten the 6% interest rate but he did not. Whenever he called it took hours and nothing was ever solved because they didn't ever have any answers. He kept asking what his interest rate was and nobody could tell him. We went to our local State Credit Union and they didn't even know what to tell us when looking at the information.
Long story short, the maturity date is 02NOV2019 and he still has $3,000 to pay on it, even though we've made OVER the minimum payment each month and never missed a month. He paid on it for three years straight and the principal never went down. I'm guessing there will be a balloon payment of about $2,000-$2,500 and as of today he's already paid around $26,000. This is the worst company ever. If I had to choose between walking everywhere or using this company to finance a vehicle, I would walk and I live 15-20 minutes from the closest store.

Have an auto loan with Santander on a 2014 Altima. Husband had a stop payment in place through our bank. He had forgotten this. So every time he made a payment, it wouldn't go through. Last night a tow company shows up at about 9pm. We realized what had been going on. He removed the stop payment and immediately paid Santander $1800. He did this with the two tow guys standing there. They were more than willing to "drop the car" if he paid and Santander gave the thumbs up. So of course, after he paid, story changed. Since it was "after hours" nothing could be done. Santander took the $1800 and the car.
Fast forward to this morning. My husband got a complete run around all day. Story changes with every representative. Now the $1800 isn't enough, they need $2200. So we paid the extra $400. Still, no car. Because no one has sent the release paperwork to the tow company. Almost 24 hours and $2200 later...we still do not have your car back. We have another auto loan with Capital One. We've never had issue. Santander is nothing but a headache. I actually secretly smiled inside when the repo men showed up thinking..."Finally, I can get this company out of my life."

They call me and said that they could offer me help on getting our car payment fixed if I made payment the next month before the mix payment was due. They came and got the car and then when I tried to call them I got the runaround. Was hung up on and told lies about the conversation that I had with their employees on the matter. Never use them. Other companies do not take you money. They will work with you.

They have terrible loan service. I had a loan with ALPHERA Loans and Santander bought the loan out from them. I had automatic withdrawals being taken out for 48 months with Alphera and when Santander took over the loan they only said that I had 13 months of loan left so they took out the payments for 47 months and did not notify me by mail or email that one more automatic payment needed to be made..? They finally call a collection agency and I make the automatic payment but it was now 36 days late. My credit was destroyed. It went from 810 rating to 705. I never made a late payment in 33 years. I spoke with executive branch and they said too bad nothing we can do. Don't use this company for loans. They will destroy your credit for seven years because of their incompetence. Don't use this company. Use a real bank that you can understand what they are saying on the phone. Don't care about people.

Fast forward to 2019 I've been paying on this car for about 4 year and I still owe $13,800!!!! How have I made almost $20,000 in payments on this car and still owe that much!!? I just let them take my car in a voluntary repossession. If you get approved with this company run!!! Also their staff is extremely rude. They treat you like you stole the car off their parking lot!

Chrysler Capital is a complete joke of a company. First their interest is extremely high. My husband ended up getting Heart Failure and was told he couldn’t work anymore. We applied for Social Security Benefits and ended up hiring an attorney to help us. We let them know exactly what was going on. We paid everything we could and fell behind a little. We then received a letter stating that we could call and work it out with them and they were “here to help.” We called and not only were they completely unhelpful they threatened my husband. My husband unfortunately passed away unexpectedly and I am still getting threatening letters although I am less than one month behind. If I could rate them with zero stars I would. Had we known how awful they were we would’ve gone somewhere else. Save yourself Stress and Headaches and find a different financial company. Run don’t walk away from them.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST POSSIBLE COMPANY. Got a loan from them when I financed my car. Worst decision I've ever made. My payments when I first purchased car and paid earlier than due date, were sometimes completely going to interest. I called and called about this. Did a report on this. Nothing. My car was recently totaled. They have been all but helpful and as slow as possible getting in all necessary documents to my GAP insurance company. Now that my GAP insurance sent them a check and they received it (on Aug. 6th) they still will not post it to my account, yet my interest is accruing. They wouldn't pick up the vehicle either despite the fact that I am continuing to make payments on it.
This company is absolute trash. Their contracts are horrible. They only care about getting their "payments". I spent 35 minutes on the phone with them just now and because of the "manager's" frustration at the fact that I told her I wasn't paying anything until they fulfilled their part of the contract and applied my payments.... she pretended that she could no longer hear me and said "due to non-response I'm ending the phone call". Absolute trash. Just save yourself the headache and credit reporting. Go with someone else.

I have found their customer service, while accessible, does not offer customer friendly solutions. I had a mortgage with Santander, and they made the pay off very difficult, and did not send any acknowledgement that the loan had been paid off. It took multiple contacts to get any help, and in the end the bank required that someone be home during the day to sign for such a letter (though their statements came in regular mail). More unnecessary inconvenience.

Absolute worst banking I have ever had to use! Do not come here. My contract did not state things and then at the end was completely blindsided. Talked to customer service twice a week for a month trying to have them figure out why they didn’t have it on my contract and they said, "It’s not up to us to go through the contract!" When I’m literally paying you for the next 6 years and you're making 10,000 off of me absolutely disgusting. Do yourself a favor and run far far away.

I am in limbo with this company. Have called them for the past 6 months regarding my account to ask when and how the process works to receive my car title after paying them for 72 months payments of $750.88 plus interest of almost 25%, $10.95 Western Union convenience fee equaling over $55,000 for a 2007 Chevy Tahoe. That matured/ended June of this year 2019 and called regarding that and t. I learned in that phone call that I still have a balance of $12 thousand plus I still owe. At first I thought I was not understanding but yes come to know I did understand. I have called a few times after that to explain to them that I have reviewed our payment history and my numbers do NOT match theirs on my account.
I have spoken to 2 persons that have been very rude and unprofessional being sarcastic and repeating my car is out for repossession not listening or caring what I am trying to clear up with this. I was treated like I do not want to pay which is NOT the case. Why would I wouldn't after 72 months of high payments? Of course I want to finish this. PLEASE HELP. Anyone advise me on how to go about? I am at the moment ill with hypertension and other medical issues and do not have a clue on where to get help and advice. In advance Thank You.

Monthly service charges begin showing up after 10 years because certain requirements are not being met by one account. By the way I have 5 separate accounts with them and customer service is unable to provide alternate methods/accounts or modify present accounts based on my small business needs to prevent monthly service charges. They are happy to have my money in their bank to make interest on but do not provide customized service. Very template, non personal type organization. I will be looking into other banking options.

I had shoulder surgery back in May, and between the doctor bills and the time off of work and reduced work schedule I got more behind. I've been struggling as I go through a separation and financial hardship of preparing for shoulder surgery, for the past 14-16 months. After having my car repossessed I put together the money to get it reinstated, and to be able to get it back. That is when it became even more frustrating.
After paying the monies, I was given 2 phone numbers to call. I don't understand how a big company doesn't know which company they used. Don't you want to know where the vehicle is? Is this done just to frustrate the customer? They sure did know which lot it was at in the end. However I played the game, and called the numbers. Of course you can't get through to a human when you call the numbers just automated, and voicemail. One number for was a Las Vegas company, and just goes to a voicemail. Finally had to go online, check for the phone number, get the name of the company, then call the other number online!!! Only to find out that Santander instead of issuing a vehicle release only issued a property release.
So 4 hours after spending over $2600 I have to call Santander back. They look and tell me yes they only sent the property release. They "send the vehicle release", and tell me to wait 5 min and then call the company. I wait 15, and still they have not received it. I call back Santander and get Jasmine. By now I'm beyond frustrated, and yes do I give her every single thing that she might ask for to verify that I am whom I say I am. Jasmine asks me for: Full name; Year, make, model, color of car; Year I was born (by the time Jasmine prompts this 3rd item I then rattle off); Last 4 of SS; Zip code of billing address; Email address.
At which point Jasmine with exasperation says that she only asked for the year I was born. I ask for a supervisor/manager and explain my frustration. Jasmine then says "I'm telling you that you don't need to speak to a supervisor" (my blood starts to boil) then Jasmine tells me "both the vehicle release and the property release were sent at the same time." I try to tell her that that is inaccurate, and Jasmine cuts me off and says that she is going to call the Lot and talk to them because they should have both those items in hand already. If they knew where my car was all this time why was I having to call all around?? Punishment?? And since when is it the customer service reps choice whether a customer can speak to a supervisor?!?!
Jasmine goes away, and when she comes back Jasmine gives me the phone number for the lot, and inaccurately gave me the last 6 of my VIN #. Thank goodness the first person gave me 6 numbers. At that time after Jasmine gives me the information, I tell her how frustrated I was with her service and how she handled the phone call, and that she was not accurate in what she said about both being sent. Jasmine said that she was accurate because when I called back the 2nd time they were both sent together. Never once an apology for her lack of customer service or the frustration that I expressed over everything I had been dealing with all day. At least the person I spoke with before Jasmine, was courteous.
If you don't like dealing with customers and you can't find it within yourself to be courteous, and apologize when your behavior has made the customer frustrated, what are you doing in that job position. I went online to Santander's website and there is nowhere you can send in any comments, there are no surveys after any calls that I've ever heard of. It's like they could care less how their customers feel. I will make sure that the next time I get any kind of loan it will be with a different company.

I was giving extra toward my payments each month so that was tanking toward interest and can't pay before due date or it doesn't go towards that month's payment. If I pay August payment 2 weeks before it's due that don't count as August payment and they put it towards interests. I have to pay twice in August so charging interest twice.

Clearly the 5 star ratings are coming from people who haven't experienced Santander's fraud and shark loan transactions because if they paid any attention to the news or Santander's complaints then they would know they've been sued recently for over 11 million dollars for adding outrageous interest rates and they were misleading a lot of their auto loan customers on their payoff balances while adjusting the loan terms that would have you paying 4 years of interest and 3 years of principal. Smh, not only did they lose in court in 2018 and was ordered to pay out the settlements but they have another class action suit pending for overcharging customers with GAP insurance that didn't cover a lot of people's cars who were in an accident.
You can play blind to this company all you want but they are just another subprime lender looking to hold their customers hostage on outrageous fees and interest rates. I will never do business with this company as long as I live and they will never get another dime from me. I rather build my credit and finance a car with a credit union or my bank!!! Buyer beware and read those contracts thoroughly before signing.

I was approve for a car loan. Having no credit/bad credit companies like Santander Consumer prey on people and tend to make your life a miserable hell. I was approved for a lemon first of all. I got the car and it had problems once I drove it off the lot. Took the car back to the dealer and they said it was my problem. Car had a faulty ignition key and would never start sometimes. Dealer so called fixed the problem but never did. So, I drove the car for five years until I had a wreck. I wasn't able to pay the remaining balance until my check came in from the insurance company. I was financed for about 10-12k on a high interest rate. I owed under a grand and Santander reported my car a charge off. So, I talked to someone who said they would remove the charge off once I paid them in full.
I paid them and now it's 6 years later and charge off is not removed. The charge off on my record for under a grand has completely made my life miserable. All the cars that I applied for offered high interest rates and had a company treated me like crap and repo me again. If I could sue this company I would. They deserve it. Please get anything in writing from this company or you will be sorry.

In July 2014 I got a car loan for $40000.00. I gave them $15000.00 as down payment but my loan somehow was showing $40000.00. Bottom line is that 5 years passed and my account was showing $34000.00 so basically I only paid $6000.00 in five years. This is ridiculous and on top of that my car was repossessed about 3 weeks ago due to work is slow and I couldn't keep up with the payments, I don’t understand how someone can be paying over $900.00 a month for 5 years and the account still shows a balance of $34000.00. Does anyone knows if this maybe be an scam or anything like that. I really need help because I am sure that I will be receiving a letter saying that I have to pay for the balance???? Help help help.
