Leased a 2018 Dodge Journey in June on 2018. Decided to turn in a couple of months early (Feb 2020). Got a deal on another brand. After returning journey (bad experience at dealers) I had to contact Chrysler Capital to find out lease pay off (2 remaining payments, disposal fee, taxes, over mileage charge). Was told 1300 dollars. Ok paid that day, next day received letter saying I'm liable for 22,000 dollars because I turned the car in early. Called chrysler capital again, after hour on phone, was told that I would be liable for the difference between what the car brought at auction when it was "disposed of" and the residual value. You guessed it that could be thousands of dollars. Oh on the bright side if it brings more than residual value I get a credit. Yeah right. Still trying to get this resolved, and selling dealer has been no help. Never finance or lease through this company.

My relative is terminally ill and under the care of hospice - they are dying. They needed bank statements to complete necessary paperwork. They were told the fee would be $432 - this is a person unable to pay for their meds and relying on family. They explained their situation and were told that they would need to get the state to fax over documentation or they would be charged this high fee. We had to involve an attorney to get my relative their own bank statements. Two phone representatives were kind but clearly under-trained, one mocked and taunted me on the phone. We are considering reporting the entire incident to the Elder Affairs department in our state. We were advised this is not legal.

I call and got a customer service rep from St. Lucia on the live. She was very rude and denied my request to speak to a manager. I asked for documentation to say I can not make a principal only payment. I have never heard of this with any loan company before but this one. I think it horrible business practice if someone wants to save on interest.

Purchased a vehicle 2014 Jeep Cherokee from the dealership. Was told at the dealership I would be financed with a credit union. Received a notice in the mail that Santander would be financing my car instead...called my first payment in and they gave me confirmation numbers and thought I was good to go but it didn’t go thru. So, when I did make the payment again, now it’s saying I have an additional balance added to the loan $246 ... This showed up in my credit report. They are a rip off and interest and off the charts. Vehicle cost $16,000 but got me owing $29,000 and adding to it somehow.

My car was repossessed and I was given a deadline to make a payment to get the car back. I made a payment to get my car back on a Monday and was told to call the yard to schedule an appointment to pick up my car. When I called the company on Tuesday to get the car I was told that they weren't in possession of the car since Thursday of the previous week. I called Chrysler back and only then did they tell me that the car was sent to auction!!! They promised I would get the car back on Wednesday as they had put the ball in motion with the transport company. They told me to call the transport company on Wednesday morning. When I called the transport company they informed me that Chrysler hadn't released the necessary fees to them in order to transport the vehicle back to the designated yard. They advised that I call Chrysler back.
I called Chrysler back and was told that yes all fees were paid and I would get the car back later on in the day Wednesday. Notes were in the system and that they were on top of it. I later found out that Chrysler didn't release the necessary fees until middle of the day that Wednesday. I called back and asked to speak to a manager who was very unprofessional!! I use the vehicle for work purposes and lost 4 jobs as a result of Chrysler's mishap!!! The manager basically said in so many words "hey it is what it is and we are not offering anything". He told me that the car wouldn't come back until Friday and based on experience I wouldn't get the car back until Monday of the next week.
I would have been more understanding if I was told the proper information from the beginning but to be told 4 different things about the same car caused a major inconvenience, loss of money due to not having the car!!!! Based on my experience with customer service at Chrysler Capital I would never purchase another Chrysler. They say the customer is always right but in this case there was no regard for the customer or for the obvious mistakes made and miscommunication throughout the process.

Run, don’t walk! This company is money hungry and they do not care about the consumers at all. I haven’t missed a payment since the day I financed my vehicle in 2017 & these people have the audacity to refuse a request to defer my payment this month. I’m going to work with my bank to get rid of this loan note. I never had any issues with NFCU. The customer service was always great too! The rep I spoke to today acted like he didn’t care at all. Just stated what they won’t do instead of providing options. I said “okay, that’s fine” & hung up. The interest is too high for this vehicle anyway. I always pay two weeks earlier than the due date. Don’t waste your time with this company, go elsewhere to find a loan company that has compassion for the people.

This company is the worst! I had made all my payments on time for over 3 years and then lost my job for 10 months and was struggling to keep my car. They sent a letter that said to contact them to see what options I had for assistance. I did and all they wanted to know was when I was going to make a payment. Then I spoke with a “Supervisor” that told me what to do to keep my car from being repossessed, so I did it and she told me to call back and tell them I wanted to be transferred to the Assistance Team. I called back and it was like pulling eye teeth to get transferred. Which never happened. They are rude, smug and downright the worst ever! Never again with this company!

We closed a Santander HELOC (never used) when we closed on the sale of our condo more than five years ago. Nevertheless, Santander keeps sending us a yearly HELOC bill for $195. Again, this is on a property we no longer own for a HELOC we never drew upon. Santander found our new address through the post office and are now continuing to harass us at a new address -- again for a closed out HELOC (TD Bank took care of our closing papers on the sale of the property and assured us Santander received their signed form).
I have gone in person to Santander, written and e-mailed them telling them this should have been closed years ago; nonetheless they are so disorganized nothing has changed. It is a little scary and I would never do business with them again. This is personal information they are so cavalier about mailing around. Their customer service reps seemed uninterested in anything that wasn't going to give them a commission check. Short-term focus and a terrible company to deal with! A frustrating situation!!

I bought a car last year and traded it in in January 2020 for a car from the Toyota dealership I work for. Santander owed me a $1,500 refund from a warranty that had been cancelled since Oct 2019. They fought with me over the phone and over the chatlogs. They refused to refund me despite the contract and official documents from Easterns Automotive Group saying specifically that money would be refunded from the dealer to Santander and that check would be sent to me as soon as two weeks.
It has been over four months since the cancellation was processed. After the heated argument, the representative from Santander, Tarrick, became rude, and hung up on me. I find that today, Feb, 11, 2020, that Santander published to my credit report that I did not pay on time. And I paid on time 100% of the 6 months I had the car and I have the payment receipts for each transaction. Such evil loaner. They are called a "second chance" bank but they are just full of lies and deceit.

I took out an auto with these guys in 2015, I had a good-paying job and my mom took out a joint loan from them because that's what we qualified for. My mom had already a house she was still making satisfactory payments on, but only this bank approved a lower price. It was the first time I and my mom actually bought a car from a dealership because she likes older cars, I like newer. We went to the dealership. Sign the papers, honestly, I regret signing things from only skimming over the page, because it was a lot of things we didn't need that was added to the loan. Santander didn't put a payment on my account for two months straight, I called them and they told me there were no payments due, I offered to mail it in they said its okay. By the third month, these crooks said I owed roughly $900, I went bizarre, but because I needed the car I paid it.
I made on-time payments for three full years, and little do you know all I was paying for was the interest rate. $389 per month, because my interest rate was near 25% that's what I was stuck with. I ended up losing my job for at least 6 months, didn't qualify for unemployment, and I was basically screwed. I fell behind them for about six months straight, I know that's a long time, anything they offered me they'll persuade me on what jobs to do, UBER LYFT, etc. and I asked would they lower the cost since I am basically on the road everyday driving more than the average miles per year, they said no. Then they found out that I did not have any insurance on the car and demanded me to get insurance or they will repo the car. In the end, the repoed the car.
I had started a new job, now this debt sits on my credit. I can't get approved for anything, and this sucks badly. I wish I wasn't so dumb and eager to get a car so fast. I put my mom underwater because she couldn't afford to pay two cars and insurance at the same time. I tried my best to find employment during the course of the months, but living in Miami if you don't speak Spanish it's really getting hard. Besides that point, teenagers if you're reading this, do not hurry to get a car so fast, save your money, build your credit up to about 680 and find a credit union in your area to help finance a car. Do not go with Santander, and if the dealership tells you, "we're searching for more banks to approve you" runnn. Do not stay there, they will find the worst of the worst to finance you and that's my living right now.

Timing of my paycheck has changed again and I requested another due date change. My request was denied. I went all the way to the executive office with my request and was told one one due date change could be done during the life of the loan. They will grant 8 payment extension but only one due date change. This seems to be very poor customer service, with rules written in stone and no required to the individual needs.

I am a victim of the Woolsey Fires in California, let's just start there. Needless to say after losing my home and all of my possessions I was a tad out of it. As soon as my homeowners insurance began to give me trouble, I reached out to all my creditors to alert them of my situation. All of them except Chrysler offered me some type of payment arrangement. So I continued to make my payments ON TIME and in the midst of my family's crisis I forgot to make 1 payment by the due date. I called within days of due date to make payment, they had assessed late fees and refused to remove them. I begged them and explained my situation but refused to take fees off.
I gave up trying to argue with them (I don't have much fight left in me) but to my absolute horror, the late fees they charged were not applied against late fees at all, the idiot customer service rep applied what was supposed late fees towards my next month's payment, leaving me with outstanding late fees that have kept accumulating month after month. My most recent phone call just last week to Chrysler Capital and the customer service rep tells me "Gee I am sorry, we have a lot of customer service reps making mistakes" and then refuses to remove the single late payment from my history, I then asked to speak to the manager, He could have cared less about my situation. I begged him, Explained to him that one year later and I still have no settlement, living in a hotel with my two children, am in the middle of a divorce (fire has just been too much).
I am attempting to secure a home loan and the negative reporting has dropped my rating significantly. It was one time and I pleaded for goodwill. Nope nothing. I am disputing with the 3 credit agencies but it doesn't seem to be working. I have attached natural disaster to the negative report. You'd think that a single late payment following a Presidentially Declared Disaster would qualify for a goodwill gesture? Nope, not Chrysler. Needless to say, I will Never Ever not for all the money in the world ever buy or lease from them again. I'm going back to the German cars and Companies. So much for made in America!

To start this off, I first got an auto loan with this company about a year and a half ago. It's the company the dealership chose for me. Up until November of 2019, I never had a problem with them. That November a deer ran out in front of me, and I hit it. My insurance company ended up totaling out my car, and sent a large payment to Santander. After that payment I would only owe a little over $900 on my auto loan. After the big payment was processed, I called their customer service to see if they could add to my loan, or lower my monthly payments if additional money couldn't be borrowed.
First of all, it was difficult to understand the woman. After she finally understood that I wanted to add to my loan, she put me on hold for quite some time in order to ask someone else. She then tells me it's their policy that they can't add to loans. Okay fine, I can get another auto loan through someone else. I then asked if my monthly payments could be lowered because at the time my payments were $245, and that is just ridiculous to pay on the $900 that is left. She put me on hold again and said she had to ask someone else. She came back on the line and told me that they couldn't lower what I owe to them. That isn't even what I asked.
I corrected her and said, "I'm not trying to get you to lower the amount I owe, I'm trying to see if my monthly payments could be lowered." She then got very nasty with me and said, "I knew what you meant, the answer is the same!" What?!?! Never in my life have I ever had a customer service rep talk to me this way! I finally had to just hang up. So to be honest, unless you want to risk this happening to you, I suggest going with a different company. Don't risk getting screwed over!!!!

I had experienced a loss after Hurricane Harvey, and I financed a vehicle from CarMax through Santander in October 2017. It was a 2015 Infiniti Q40. I had no issues until that vehicle was in a car accident and totaled (July 2019). My situation was a bit unique because my insurance agent at the time did not do his due diligence to ensure that my plan had no lapse, so my total loss was covered under the agency's supplemental insurance. Now I communicated all of this to Santander, every department that contacted me, yet they stated that they had to "repossess" my vehicle to ensure payment, even after I had the insurance representative contact them to communicate that the claim would be paid. Santander continued to charge me miscellaneous fees. I still moved forward with following their instructions but they became dismissive as soon as they "repossessed" my vehicle.
I called several times to speak with someone higher up and even filed a formal complaint. I have not received any feedback or correspondence about my complaint to this day. I continue to receive phone calls for payment but never spoke with anyone about what the "misc fees" were that they applied to my account that would not allow my account to be paid in full. Even when I did speak with someone regarding payment, no one was ever able to explain what the "misc fees" were.
I am very disappointment with how I was treated and how my total loss was handled. When I called to make sure the insurance checks would be applied to my account I was treated as if I was a liar and told to contact their "third party". The third party that they work with (Allied) is entirely another issue, but they were rude and dismissive, just as Santander. I could barely get ahold to the individual that was helping me. I also had to check behind all of his work. When I contacted him I didn't get a response unless I emailed him, and when I complained about him to the manager I didn't even get a call back from the manager.
My accident was in July 2019 and I still have yet to speak with someone to get this account resolved, nor has my complaint been addressed. To date both insurance checks have been applied to my account, yet a "misc fees" was just applied in December 2019 to my account. I refuse to pay anything until I speak with a representative about my complaint. Even after the total loss settlement checks were applied to my account, my account was not paid in full. Not only that, Santander has a check from cancellation of service plan that they have not yet applied, or refuse to apply, to my account. Probably so they can get more money from me...

Chrysler Capital is unwilling to work with you no matter what your situation may be. I’ve had a loss of income & have inquired about a loan modification & the only thing they say that they can do is set up a payment plan to bring my account current. I received a letter from them stating that they may have an assistance program available to me. Upon calling & speaking with Marcus on 12/26/2019, he repeatedly stated the only thing that is available to me is a payment arrangement which would require that I make a payment and a half until the account is current. **Keeping in mind that I lost my job in August & I have been attempting to work with them in regards to my account.**
If I’m having issues with making the regular monthly payments then how do they expect me to make a payment and a half while I’m unemployed? My family still has my husband’s income so I’ve asked them about a loan modification numerous times but they will not even discuss whether that may be an option for us. I definitely want to be able to keep the vehicle but Chrysler Capital does not seem to care about any type of hardships that caused the situation.

Let me just start this off by saying this is a very crappy company. I was in a bind for at least two months and I called in to ask if there was anyone who could help me because I didn’t want to lose my car. EVERY TIME I called in I always got a nasty rude service representative and I have never in my life not cared for a company like this one. Needless to say my car got towed. I had 10 days to pay the full amount off (which I did) and I call in the other day to see if they received my payment. I was told yes then was sent over to another customer service agent and was on hold for 30 mins!! When I got on the phone I was told that my car was took to the auction place which was not supposed to happen till my 10 days was up!!! I was pissed.
So now I have to pay two separate fees all because this company wanted to be disrespectful. I had lost my job and was trying to find another job so the money I would get it went straight towards a car payment and I was still trying to make a little payment and they were disrespectful to the point I would get nasty comments towards me. Very unprofessional company. Never again will I ever go with this company. If I could give them no stars I would!

No joke! Don't get me wrong this place offer financial help to anyone just like every bank will do. These guys mainly target those who in desperate needs like low credits and all that BS. Even if your credit is average they will still hit you with a very high interest rate. At first I didn't want to believe what other people say about this company. 10/10 only bad feedback experience from people I know! Instead I gave it a try. Felt like I got no other choice. I can't see how some gave 5 stars to this company? Am I missing something? Or maybe depends on the amount you're dealing with? I don't know. But I here to share my experience with these guys.
Of course they help financed my car. Yeah and that doesn't make them a better company. I grateful but remember that's how they make money. They will offer help and rob you later pretty much. The day I sign them papers Santander system work it's miracle to take more from me then being fair. Over a year I never miss a payment, i made a double payments 3 times so i can stay on top of my game. And I kept getting paper statement every month noted 70% of my payment is interest. I couldn't understand why? and also isn't that's how we avoid interest? Pay ahead of time? I was 3 month ahead of my payment and I realize there's some shady stuff going on. So I contact them and they told me their system is not allow to go 3 month ahead of my payments.
I ask them what happen to those early payments? I was told they put it in to take care the interest!! WTH Yo yo yo wake up fam!! How the hell 3 payments all go to interest and my interest still high as hell? That's one catch. And then they said cause I was 1 month behind from day 1. Ok how the hell I 1 month behind the whole time and yeah tell me my other 3 payments put towards interest? Honestly I just cant wait to be done with this company and I will never go through them. Their system was made to rob people so clean you can't even tell. Now every time I about to make a payment I call them first and make sure we on the same page before I process a payment. Believe me if it's that easy to return everything without back fire at you.. I left this place a long time ago. Go for it If you want to find out yourself.

Upon deciding to buy a new car, the dealer suggested using Chrysler Capital for financing in order to get all the incentives available. From the beginning, we have had trouble with this company. We never received a payment book/bill from the company. Upon calling them, they said they would send out another bill. We never got that one, either. When we called again, it was discovered that they had our address wrong this whole time. By now, we are one payment behind. We make the payments and hope for smooth sailing. Several months later, we get a bill saying that we are behind one payment, so we owe 2 payments and a fee because our check didn't clear. Our bank checked into the problem. It seems Chrysler Capital had keyed in our account number wrong, so the check came back because the account couldn't be found. So, the mistake was on Chrysler's end.
We sent the correct amount, on time, and they wanted to charge us for their mistake. After talking to them, we were assured the extra charge would be dropped because it was their error. Our next bill indicated a charge for the mix-up. So, another phone call, and no one could fix the issue. They said our local bank charged this fee. That doesn't even make any sense! But they refused to take the charge off. We informed them we would be paying off this loan with Chrysler, and transferring it to our bank. We had the paperwork already done. They didn't seem concerned to be losing a customer over a small fee they insisted we owed because they made an error.
I checked Chrysler Capital's reviews online, and it was no surprise to see many one and two star ratings. I read of many cases similar to ours. Some cases even indicated that Chrysler records continued to indicate a loan was open after being paid off/transferred to another company. This affected the customer's credit rating. So we're not sure we're out of the mess called Chrysler Capital yet! My advice, go with a better company than Chrysler Capital. The right hand doesn't seem to know what the left is doing. They have no concern about what is best for the consumer. They evidently have some number identification problems, as well as mathematics concerns. I don't have anything good to say about them, unfortunately.

My vehicle was paid off and my account was paid in full and there is an overpayment on the account. I spoke with Santander and asked when I will receive the overpayment as a refund. I was told that it can take up to 45 days to get the refund back from them. I completely understand having to cash the check and everything but it's just like any other bank cashing a check. There is a limited number of days it can take for it to clear.
My problem is why do they hold the refund for almost a month. They have due dates. Things need to be paid and they want their money when it's due or they add interest. If they hold our refunds why dont we get interest on it then? I know that doesnt happen but I'm making a point. There's no reason a refund shouldn't be processed once the bank clear the check and it doesnt take 30-45 days to clear a check. Since the account is now closed they should mail our refunds within at least 2 weeks at the longest. Where doesn't the money sit during this time and what is the hold up and just processing a refund when it's owed to the consumer. We want our money just the same as the company wants theirs. In a timely manner of course. 30-45 days is just an absurd time frame. So I won't get it until next year? I mean come on now.

I have been with Santander now for over 4 years. They are the worst finance company I have ever had. I had damage to my home by hurricane Harvey that was not covered at all and our state of Texas was a natural disaster area. Not only did they not offer assistance, but because I used the limited extensions that they offer no other programs were available. They close out any complaints or concerns that are emailed in writing saying to contact customer service which shows the level of unhelpful behaviors the company has.
I meant to refinance with another company before I hit 100,000 miles but once my home was destroyed I missed that cut off. I’m so upside down for a car that’s not worth it but because I pay my debts and don’t want a repo on my credit I continue to remain stuck in the worst car deal of my life. Now I’m working an additional job to come up with enough money to get out of this disaster of a deal. Warning they are not there when you need assistance. I decided to purchase a different vehicle and trade the car the loan was on to the same dealership I had actually bought it from. Where the loan was actually acquired. The payoff was $11875... Fine. I wrote a check to the dealership for that amount and the extra to completely pay off the new vehicle. That dealership was in charge of payoff to Santander and to acquire the title from them. Again fine, shouldn’t have been a problem. About a month and a half later I started receiving calls from Santander and upon contacting them back I was informed my payoff was never made.
I was immediately mad at the dealership so I called them. Nope, they made the payment 4 weeks ago and the check has cashed/cleared their bank. Interesting. I took this information back to Santander. They are now claiming I need to keep making payments on this loan while they investigate which inevitably seems to be their error. They also are going to credit report me and will not remove it even if it ends up being their error (which based on reviews I’ve read, it is.). First off absolutely will I not keep paying for a vehicle I don’t own anymore (I already have the title to the new one). Secondly they are threatening to repossess it... I mean I guess good luck. If they can’t do that they are threatening to sue, again good luck.
They just keep saying I need to make payments to them in the meantime and they will “refund” me. I guess if this was any other company I’d consider it, I have the money. However my fear is that the payoff amount now is $1000 more than it was the middle of October. (Which quite frankly is weird too. I was actually going down each month about $250. My payment was $315, but I get interest.... The math does not compute). Who’s to say they won’t keep my money to settle the “new” payoff... I don’t know. The customer service is also less than helpful. I swear if this goes further I’m going to sue them. This is ridiculous. The car is freaking paid off and not even in my possession. I have a new vehicle and this is asinine.

Santander customers services do not listen to nothing you or saying even the supervisors or just as slow as the reps. I made 2 payments on my SUV. I called to get one of the payment reverse. The rep say, "I see you made 2 payments but however I still need your bank statements on both accounts" which did not make any sense if you see both payments. Once I'm done I will not recommend them to no one.

This company is not one to go with. They take advantage of people who are down on their luck and have no choice, but to finance through them. I have tried numerous times to change payment dates (not skip) and they refused. All I want is a company who is empathetic to customers. Is that too much to ask? I think not, but Santander Consumer USA obviously does.

I bought a boat in 2006 while a resident in California. I have since moved to Colorado, and in July, sold the boat to a local couple. I have been trying since that time to get the title to this boat/trailer from Santander (4 months). Because California does a paperless title, it is required for the original lienholder to file a ELT 227 form to request electronic title. Santander to date has not done this. I have called daily, I have lost time from work. At one point in this I was told by Santander I could go to California myself with a REG227 form that was notarized by them and obtain paper title.
I purchased airfare, rented a car and hotel, missed time from work and went with the form that Santander assured me was the correct form to the DMV, only to find out that the ONLY way to get title is to have Santander file a ELT 227 form to request paper title. It is now 4 months later, I do not have title, I cannot bond for title in Colorado because they show a lienholder in California. Santander has not held up their end of the bargain, they don't return calls and they don't answer emails. I am having litigation pursued from the buyers of the boat as they understandably want their titles. Do not ever consider this company for a loan, they will not fulfill their end of the agreement and you will be without title for your property.

This is a terrible company and if I could give it 0 stars, I would. If you like to sit on hold forever, deal with disinterested customer service people who could care less about you or your issue, and enjoy dealing with a company that operates with zero sense of ethics, then Chrysler Capital (it's really Ally Financial in disguise) is the company for you. I turned a lease vehicle in 7 months early and replaced with another vehicle leased through Chrysler Capital. I was nowhere near the end of my mileage, but started receiving offers in the mail from dealers to turn the car in early, so I did. The dealer agreed to cover my remaining lease payments as part of the deal.
Then Chrysler Capital sent me a bill for $5,100 in the mail, claiming that because the car was turned in early, I owed them the difference between the residual value of the lease, and what they actually received for it at auction. Apparently, had I waited and given them a car that was 7 months older with more miles on it, it wouldn't be my fault that they calculated the residual value wrong and took a loss at auction.
Going through the dispute resolution process was a nightmare of epic proportions. When you call there, you are put on hold for literally 10-20 minutes at a time, each time you get escalated, while someone "reviews the notes" of your case. While you're on hold, you are subjected to a jazzy little tune that is literally 5-10 seconds long, then repeats, over and over and over again. Regardless of who you deal with, the best you're ever going to get is treated like a meaningless number to them. They will recite contract language and even get a nasty attitude with you, basically telling you that they don't care what you do, or whether you ever do business with them again.
We have another lease vehicle leased through our local credit union and the experience couldn't be any more different. I highly recommend that you avoid Chrysler Capital and Ally Financial at all costs and choose your own bank or a local credit union that will treat you like you matter, and not pull shady moves trying to transfer the cost of their mistakes onto you. As a matter of fact, I'm sitting on hold with them right now - 27 minutes in - and I'm using the time to share this experience with as many people as I can. Worst. Company. Ever.

I have been dealing with this company going on 4 yrs. I still owe the same amount I did 4 years ago driving the car off the lot. I took notice each payment I made that more than 70% went to interest rest on principal. There were times the whole payment went to interest regardless if it were $300 or $600. It's irritating because I was always told after the first year or two you pay more into principal but was never the case. If you are late 1 day they charge you $15.94 plus report you delinquent to the credit agencies. Sometimes it was reported back to back making my score drop 33-45 points at a time. This business cares only about themselves no matter how much they pretend to act like they are trying to help. They deferred payments for me which meant 2 payments I am behind got added to the back extending my loan each time adding $100 + $15.94 to it.
How can someone having a hard time with my job cutting my hours make ends meet and keep a car like this but I gave them 4 years to help me and now they want to come get the car repair it because it's always broken, then auction it then sale it and charge me the balance. I will be without transportation now but they are no more concerned then they were adding late fees, and extra charges while accumulating interest from every payment I made. It's upsetting when you pay on a vehicle $400 a month and not see the balance go down but a few dollars in 4 yrs.

My car was considered a total loss during the October 2012 hurricane Sandy. I however chose to take the salvage value of my vehicle a total value of $700. State Farm paid out the entire value of the vehicle less the $700. I was partially upside down on the loan and made subsequent payments well into 2013 to cover the $700 and the difference on the loan. I was sent my lien release all paperwork and eventually sold the car. Everything was accepted by the Dept of Motor Vehicle, NY and I was off on my way.
Fast forward, Santander continues to this day to try and bill me for just over $1300. Saying they were fees and missed payments. I've been disputing this for years now sending them, the credit reporting agencies copies and details of every document and correspondence. I was fortunate in that I saved and emailed electronic versions of the documents to all parties including my insurer. Well here we are 7 years later and they now reported each missed payment since 2013 as a charge off. Not the account but each individual payment. It is also as stated 7 years and should be removed from my credit reports. They claim that the negative report only starts in 2013 not at the time of the total loss nor the age of the account.
At this juncture I have retained an attorney for dispute removal and for damages over the years affecting my credit score, history and reports. DO NOT use this company. Once you are in bed with them they are never getting out even when you have satisfied the terms and can provide them documentation from their own company.

Absolutely horrible experience!! I read on this site about someone being a month late - 1 late payment on their car loan/lease which is what happened to me only because I was sure I was on auto-pay...Not like the previous entry who had a “good” experience and their lives moved forward without being compromised, I just got off the phone with Blanca /account executive (?) who has DECLINED to give a one-time goodwill late removal on my account. Chrysler proceeded to submit my one - late payment to all 3 credit bureaus, my FICO score has dropped over 45pts!!! And this is the very FIRST time ever I have had one late payment due to thinking I was on auto-pay!! Ever. I’ve had “exceptional” credit for over 45years.
I spoke with a Chrysler Capital agent on Sept 13 in regards to my policy about car rental in case I needed one when my car had an issue — at no point in time did the agent indicate I was late! Had not made a payment. Ever! Blanca’s response: "I’m sorry but the agent does not have to report to you that you’re late in payment." Ridiculous and unacceptable. I spoke with three supervisors at each credit bureau and a “goodwill removal” is practiced by ALL companies, including them!
Now I’m questioning why would the previous entry be entitled to one late payment without it being submitted to the credit bureaus?? And why was I not allotted the same courtesy?!!!? Time to take this matter to the next level... I have my ideas on what to do, anyone else care to share your views if you’ve experienced same/similar issues with this horrible company? Thanks.

In May 2019, I financed a 2019 Ford Escape through Santander Consumer USA. Fast forward to July 12 2019, I was robbed at gunpoint while at an ATM and forced to empty out my bank account. I was subsequently beat and ended up being in a coma. It was so bad that evidently, my family was advised to prepare for the worst as they didn’t think I would regain consciousness. I awoke on September 18, 2019. I was kept for observation and was cleared to return home on September 26, 2019. I retrieved the vehicle from impound on this day as well.
I had noticed several missed calls from Santander once I started going through all the calls and messages while I was hospitalized, due to not receiving payments. It is just me, both of my parents are deceased and I do not have a mate to pay bills on my behalf. My plan was to contact Santander on the morning of 9/27. I had just spent over 2 months in the hospital and just wanted a good night's sleep in my own bed. They had to have been looking for the vehicle for sometime, because oddly enough, I come out of my home on the morning of 9/27 to see the vehicle is gone.
I immediately contacted Santander and was advised the vehicle had been repossessed. I explained my situation and asked what I can do to retrieve my vehicle. Santander stated they will not allow me to retrieve the vehicle, unless the loan was paid in full. The amount past due at the time was $1800. The full loan is in excess of $25,000! Their reasoning for not allowing me to just pay the past due amount and retrieving the vehicle is because I had not responded to their numerous attempts to contact me and that I have proven to be an unreliable customer for failing to make timely payments. I reiterated the fact that I was in the hospital and that I have documentation to prove this. Santander still refused to budge even after speaking to several supervisors. They would all respond with “It's not personal sir, it’s just business”
Not one person I spoke with showed any empathy in regards to my situation. A supervisor named Maria (Employee ID: **) even began to yell at me when I asked her if she knew what it was like to be hospitalized for an extended period of time. Her words were, “This isn’t about me sir.” I just wanted her to put herself in my shoes.
Now I no longer have a vehicle, I will more than likely be stuck with a hefty bill, and my credit is shot now that it shows up as repossessed. When I research the vehicle, it’s estimated between $10,000 and $15,000 based on the mileage. When they auction this vehicle, they will not get anywhere close to the full $25,000 loan amount meaning I will be billed for the remainder of the loan amount. LONG STORY SHORT STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY BECAUSE AS THEY STATED “IT IS JUST BUSINESS.” They will not do anything to help you if you experience hardship.

I talked to Santander several times and they said they could not get the money from my bank because there was not enough funds, I even offered to fax copies of my bank account on the days this occured showing the funds were there, they refused to accept that and refused to try to find any other solution and they ended up charging me $50 dollars. That is not the interest rate that I signed up for but I was told that I had fees due every month, or the payment was wrong or the 'simple interest' was building. Whatever, they are criminals and need to spend time behind bars for theft. After the 72 month loan was paid, I expected my title.
I logged into my account and Santander said that I still owed $9,211.85. What the hell is that? Like 150% profit on an auto loan? I made dozens of phone calls to get this resolved and they wouldn't budge. They basically told me that no matter what, I owed this money. Kept saying I hadn't paid all the interest. All of the local Santander branches in my area were transferred to another bank. According to the website there are no longer any physical branches in the state of PA. Prior to the switch over I was notified. I am the custodian of 2 savings accounts for my children. At no point did my children receive notice of the switch over, informing them of any required action they must complete prior to the change (they are now 18 & 20).
I was under the impression that ALL of the accounts I was named on would be transferred to the new bank. WRONG. My children's accounts were left with Santander. I called them to see what was going on. The first customer service rep I spoke to was very helpful, spoke to someone above her that stated Santander had approx 180 accounts that did not make the transfer, that it was a "computer glitch", and that it would be resolved in 3 business days.
8 days later, I again called Santander customer service, only to be told that the accounts did not transfer because both my children were listed as the primary account holders and had not requested their accounts to be switched over (even though they were not notified in any way to do so). To correct the issue, we need to either visit a Santander location of which there are none, or send a notarized letter for each account to Santander. Why in God's name would I have to send a notarized letter??
I requested to speak to someone higher. I was put on the line with the Level 2 customer service rep. I asked why I had not been notified of the information given to me by the previous rep, and why I had been told 8 days ago that the problem would be fixed in 3 business days? "Level 2" just reiterated the info previously given to me, and went on to repeatedly give me the same canned answers. I asked why the children were not notified of any required action prior to the change- "Level 2" did not know & made no attempt to find out.
I asked why I needed a notarized letter for each account (that I would have to pay to have done)- "Level 2" told me that was Santander's resolution. I asked him to explain why these were the only 2 options- He told me that this was "reality" and I would have to accept it. I stated that he was not helping me in any way, but just giving me the same canned answers each time. He again told me that this was Santander's "resolution" and that I would "have to accept reality". At no point did he give me another option, even when I said that I just wanted my kids to get their money back.
Going online to the Help page for Santander, I see that you can close an account by calling the customer service # (which is where I had called previously). I also had the option to transfer money to an account outside of Santander. Neither of these options were disclosed to me by customer service on the phone. So, I transferred ALL of my children's money into other accounts that were not with Santander, then had the children call the customer service # and close their accounts.
This experience with Santander's customer service rep was the absolute worst. Ironically, it states on the main Santander page that 9-18 (today is 9-20) is customer appreciation day, and that they respect customers & their money, and are committed to giving the best customer service 365 days a year. My experience does not find that to be remotely true.

I get there is interest yes and a $45 dollar late fee. Ok so I figure 70$ Plus the $45 Late fee and a little interest on that no problem.
The next month I send in $1500, thinking great! Now I'm caught back up and I paid a little extra on the principal. I start getting calls saying I am still behind and still owe a significant amount. Santander took the $1800 and the car.
Fast forward to this morning. My husband got a complete run around all day. Story changes with every representative. Now the $1800 isn't enough, they need $2200. So we paid the extra $400. Still, no car. Because no one has sent the release paperwork to the tow company. Almost 24 hours and $2200 later...we still do not have your car back. We have another auto loan with Capital One. We've never had issue. Santander is nothing but a headache. I actually secretly smiled inside when the repo men showed up thinking..."Finally, I can get this company out of my life."

I had automatic withdrawals being taken out for 48 months with Alphera and when Santander took over the loan they only said that I had 13 months of loan left so they took out the payments for 47 months and did not notify me by mail or email that one more automatic payment needed to be made..? They finally call a collection agency and I make the automatic payment but it was now 36 days late. My credit was destroyed. It went from 810 rating to 705. I never made a late payment in 33 years. I spoke with executive branch and they said too bad nothing we can do. Don't use this company for loans. They will destroy your credit for seven years because of their incompetence. Chrysler Capital is a complete joke of a company. First their interest is extremely high. My husband ended up getting Heart Failure and was told he couldn’t work anymore. We applied for Social Security Benefits and ended up hiring an attorney to help us. We let them know exactly what was going on. We paid everything we could and fell behind a little. We then received a letter stating that we could call and work it out with them and they were “here to help.” We called and not only were they completely unhelpful they threatened my husband. My husband unfortunately passed away unexpectedly and I am still getting threatening letters although I am less than one month behind. If I could rate them with zero stars I would. Had we known how awful they were we would’ve gone somewhere else. Save yourself Stress and Headaches and find a different financial company. Run don’t walk away from them.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST POSSIBLE COMPANY. Got a loan from them when I financed my car. Worst decision I've ever made. My payments when I first purchased car and paid earlier than due date, were sometimes completely going to interest. I called and called about this. Did a report on this. Nothing. My car was recently totaled. They have been all but helpful and as slow as possible getting in all necessary documents to my GAP insurance company. Now that my GAP insurance sent them a check and they received it (on Aug. 6th) they still will not post it to my account, yet my interest is accruing. They wouldn't pick up the vehicle either despite the fact that I am continuing to make payments on it.
This company is absolute trash. Their contracts are horrible. They only care about getting their "payments". I spent 35 minutes on the phone with them just now and because of the "manager's" frustration at the fact that I told her I wasn't paying anything until they fulfilled their part of the contract and applied my payments.... she pretended that she could no longer hear me and said "due to non-response I'm ending the phone call". Absolute trash. Just save yourself the headache and credit reporting. Go with someone else.

I have found their customer service, while accessible, does not offer customer friendly solutions. I had a mortgage with Santander, and they made the pay off very difficult, and did not send any acknowledgement that the loan had been paid off. It took multiple contacts to get any help, and in the end the bank required that someone be home during the day to sign for such a letter (though their statements came in regular mail). More unnecessary inconvenience.

I had shoulder surgery back in May, and between the doctor bills and the time off of work and reduced work schedule I got more behind. I've been struggling as I go through a separation and financial hardship of preparing for shoulder surgery, for the past 14-16 months. After having my car repossessed I put together the money to get it reinstated, and to be able to get it back. That is when it became even more frustrating.
After paying the monies, I was given 2 phone numbers to call. I don't understand how a big company doesn't know which company they used. Don't you want to know where the vehicle is? Is this done just to frustrate the customer? They sure did know which lot it was at in the end. However I played the game, and called the numbers. Of course you can't get through to a human when you call the numbers just automated, and voicemail. One number for was a Las Vegas company, and just goes to a voicemail. Finally had to go online, check for the phone number, get the name of the company, then call the other number online!!! Only to find out that Santander instead of issuing a vehicle release only issued a property release.
So 4 hours after spending over $2600 I have to call Santander back. They look and tell me yes they only sent the property release. They "send the vehicle release", and tell me to wait 5 min and then call the company. I wait 15, and still they have not received it. I call back Santander and get Jasmine. By now I'm beyond frustrated, and yes do I give her every single thing that she might ask for to verify that I am whom I say I am. Jasmine asks me for: Full name; Year, make, model, color of car; Year I was born (by the time Jasmine prompts this 3rd item I then rattle off); Last 4 of SS; Zip code of billing address; Email address.
At which point Jasmine with exasperation says that she only asked for the year I was born. I ask for a supervisor/manager and explain my frustration. Jasmine then says "I'm telling you that you don't need to speak to a supervisor" (my blood starts to boil) then Jasmine tells me "both the vehicle release and the property release were sent at the same time." I try to tell her that that is inaccurate, and Jasmine cuts me off and says that she is going to call the Lot and talk to them because they should have both those items in hand already. If they knew where my car was all this time why was I having to call all around?? Punishment?? And since when is it the customer service reps choice whether a customer can speak to a supervisor?!?!
Jasmine goes away, and when she comes back Jasmine gives me the phone number for the lot, and inaccurately gave me the last 6 of my VIN #. Thank goodness the first person gave me 6 numbers. At that time after Jasmine gives me the information, I tell her how frustrated I was with her service and how she handled the phone call, and that she was not accurate in what she said about both being sent. Jasmine said that she was accurate because when I called back the 2nd time they were both sent together. Never once an apology for her lack of customer service or the frustration that I expressed over everything I had been dealing with all day. At least the person I spoke with before Jasmine, was courteous.
If you don't like dealing with customers and you can't find it within yourself to be courteous, and apologize when your behavior has made the customer frustrated, what are you doing in that job position. I went online to Santander's website and there is nowhere you can send in any comments, there are no surveys after any calls that I've ever heard of. It's like they could care less how their customers feel. I will make sure that the next time I get any kind of loan it will be with a different company.

Clearly the 5 star ratings are coming from people who haven't experienced Santander's fraud and shark loan transactions because if they paid any attention to the news or Santander's complaints then they would know they've been sued recently for over 11 million dollars for adding outrageous interest rates and they were misleading a lot of their auto loan customers on their payoff balances while adjusting the loan terms that would have you paying 4 years of interest and 3 years of principal. Smh, not only did they lose in court in 2018 and was ordered to pay out the settlements but they have another class action suit pending for overcharging customers with GAP insurance that didn't cover a lot of people's cars who were in an accident.
You can play blind to this company all you want but they are just another subprime lender looking to hold their customers hostage on outrageous fees and interest rates. Dealer so called fixed the problem but never did. So, I drove the car for five years until I had a wreck. I wasn't able to pay the remaining balance until my check came in from the insurance company. I was financed for about 10-12k on a high interest rate. I owed under a grand and Santander reported my car a charge off. I paid them and now it's 6 years later and charge off is not removed. The charge off on my record for under a grand has completely made my life miserable. Who else would charge such outrageous interest other than greedy people taking advantage of someone's misfortune. Yes, she has made the payments, not always on time, and only once thirty days late, yes which my husband took a hit to his credit. I purchased my vehicle in Jan 2017 from a local Nissan dealership. I had challenged credit due to my spouse multiple bankruptcy but I did have a steady job and down payment. For the first 18 months bill loan was paid on time and actually before the due date. First issue was payment is due on the 7th of the month and you have until, the 17th to pay. However they generate the monthly bill on the 15th so if you pay it after the date within the 10 day grace period your new bill shows past due amount. I became unemployed but was still able to keep up my payments. I did contact them by letter and phone calls. When you fill out paperwork you have to give them name and numbers of 5 people that can reach you. At one point they contacted a relative I immediately contacted Santander and asked that they not contact this person
Fast forward I made payment arrangements but my vehicle was repossessed in a shopping mall so I had no way to get home. I attended a seminar so my purse with my license was in the trunk of the car. I actually stopped at Mall to pay on 2 credit card accounts. Was in the mall less than 30 minutes. I found out from mall security that it was repo. So I immediately contacted Santander and the told me I had a cease and desist on my account that they weren’t allowed to call or contact me by phone or mail. Then said they sent me a letter stating the intent to repo the car. So they gave me the number to call to retrieve my vehicle which was 50 miles away. Then when I called around 4pm was told the place was closed and I needed to make an appointment and they don’t do same day appointment. This was on a Thursday so the first appointment was not until Monday. So Santander sent the letter over so I could get my property.
Now I actually made 2 payments and brought account current as they updated my credit file. Then about a week later they charged off my account and the only way I could get my car back was to pay the loan off in full 19k or get it refinanced with my bank. Then they told me they don’t refinance their own loans. So I made every effort to make payments arrangements and was able to pay for 8 months even though I was unemployed. I wasn’t even getting statements after the cease and desist was done in Nov. This should be against the law. Talking to the supervisor is a joke . So of course they took the order of my account the same day they repo the car. I guess they have some sort of tracking device because they never came to my home to take the car, no they chose to take it in a public place leaving me stranded and no way to retrieve the car. About 2 weeks later they sent me a certified letter. Too little too late.

Where do I start? I have had a car loan with Santander Consumer USA since 2012. Paid it on time, for the past 5 1/2 years to ensure my credit remains good. I have actually stopped driving the car 2 years ago and had it in a parking, yet I kept paying it to avoid letting it mess up my credit score. Last summer I had a family emergency and had to leave the country, and in the process missed a payment on time.
When I went online, while out of the country, I was blocked from access so I could not remit payments until I returned to the the US. When I arrived I called them but it was too late ... They had signaled a late payment to the credit bureaus and dropped my score of almost 100 points. I sent them a letter explaining the situation and asking for them to pardon the late payment and remove it from my credit as I have paid on time for 5 years already but they refused to do anything. Last month I made what I thought was my last payment ... and again they sent a late payment notice to the credit bureaus, when I called to ask why, apparently there was $7 that I did not pay. $7 at the end of my loan and they send it to the credit bureau. This obviously a company of cretins.
Now that my car has been paid off over a month ago, via debit card as they wanted to be sure the last payment will be immediately debited, I still do not have my car's title. They knew I planned on selling the car, but still made me pay that famous $7 to finish off the car and now a dealer cannot buy it off, instead I must wait for the lien. I called a few times, and every time the release date changes. Last call, they claimed the lien has been released but now ... Again they keep my property hostage, as even with the lien being released, I must wait for a letter to arrive stating that the lien has been released. That letter will take 10 days. Today has been 10 days since that letter was supposedly sent" and still nothing. This is obviously a company that does not care. Get your loans from anyone else, even a loan shark would be more decent than Santander.

She deposited a large check from a client and then the check was withdrawn from her account not because the check was bad but because the new employee didn’t put it through the right system. She was told to by the bank to get her client to void the check and issue a new one. They put a hold on the new check leaving her in the negative because of an error they admitted making.
Now they are making her wait and it’s been over a week since they made the mistake that caused her to be in the negative. She made several calls and went to the bank several times which for some strange reason some calls were not noted and nothing has been fixed!!! I cannot believe I just spent over 2 hrs online with my bank, and on the phone with Chrysler Capital payment center! Now I know that some of the reviews on Chrysler Capital are true! So, I see that my first payment due is for May 4th. No problem. I want to make a payment now rather than wait till then. Let's get the payment out early for the first payment on this loan. So, I go onto their site where my information is, and I choose the debit card payment selection. I put in the amount of the payment and submit it. Pretty basic right? I get a response that my debit card had been declined! I was baffled by this so I go onto my bank's website and go into a customer service chat.
After a long chat about my checking account, balances, is my card good? Am I authorized to make my payment amount? All was a yes! They told me that there is no reason why my card should be declined! Ok. So, I go back on the Chrysler Capital website and try it again. "DECLINED" once again! So I decided to change the amount to a lower amount. 200. Goes through. I go back and try that amount again, message pops up and says: duplicate amount. So I go back and I change it to 100. It goes through. I go back to change the amount again and resubmit thinking, "Wow, I guess I will just have to nickel and dime this thing. Tell all the payment balance is paid in full." Nope. DECLINED.... Now I am confused and call Chrysler Capital knowing that it is not my bank's fault.
The rep tells me that she does see the two payments and after I explained to her what her system was doing she tells me that they have been having problems with their system lately and apologized. She waived the fees for paying on the phone and attempted to make the payment balance. NOPE, system told her that I've exceeded my daily limit! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? She tells me that she has never seen this before. Now I am remembering all the reviews I read on this company in regards to payments and kicking myself for going with this company on my car loan! She transfers me to a supervisor who took down what had happened and offered to ACH free of charge set up for tomorrow. So, back online I go to get my account info and routing number to my bank account.
After another 30 minutes dealing with that, I get it and then get back on the phone with Chrysler Capital and give him the information. Again, NOPE. can't do it because of these two other transactions I made! SERIOUSLY? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? What loan company does this? It's like they don't want your money, they just want your car is what this ordeal made me feel like. He said to call them back tomorrow and they will take the debit over the phone free of charge. I asked him if it would go through at that time? Yes, definitely! I am not so sure about that but I will try it once again tomorrow!
This is not a convenient or fair system. I have never dealt with such a disorganized company like this where even ACH and or debit card payments was an issue. Most loan companies are simple and convenient even the ones that aren't are better than this. It seems like they have roadblocks all over the place preventing their customers from making payments.
I hope they fix this problem. I do not want to go through this for the next 48 months with them. I might have to refinance this car in 6 months if I have to deal with this every month. I hope my review will help you plan ahead when financing your vehicle with this company. If you do plan to use this company, make sure you have at least 3 hrs of spare time to sit down and fight to get your first payment in! Or better yet, Just mail your check to them. I don't know anyone who uses checks to make a payment anymore. To me that is not only inconvenient, but it's an outdated way of paying bills and I've heard of people doing that method and then this company mysteriously loses their check and it's back to square one again. But at that point, you could be late on your payment and you're just deeper in interest and trouble.

For the record, signing the paperwork for this Auto loan was by far the worst decision of my life. But I made it. No one forced me to make it. So please know that I DO feel for everyone here... Worst decision of my life thus far made at 24 years old; I'm now 29. Also, I am on payment number 50. I put down 5 grand for a used $24,407 Ford Edge right after college (graduated in 2014) but had zero credit (not good/bad but just zero and 5 grand); this was the only bank that would approve me. I honestly didn't even pay attention to the paperwork I signed (MISTAKE #1). I was so excited to be working, making money, and to be able to make a purchase like this.
I'm here 4.5 years later still paying my monthly payments of $548.61 (I'll never forget this number for as long as I live haha), and I still owe $11,925/$24,407... My parents have always asked, "Aren't you almost done paying that thing OFF (the most they'd ever heard of was a 5 year auto loan)!?!?" I knew I wasn't, because I knew how much the Santander site said I still owed. But this was all I knew; I never looked into the real numbers on this thing. But I just recently decided to not be ignorant anymore...
A little too late unfortunately!!! I bought it at 44,000 miles, and it now has 152,000 miles (a lot of miles to put on in 4.5 years, I realize this), regardless, I have put in at least ~$15,000 over the years in repairs; I've practically rebuilt the thing except for the engine. The most recent mechanical issue is looking like there's no way around it. This thing is looking like it's DONE... and I'm $11 grand in the hole... Worst decision of my life. But, nothing Santander is doing is illegal; "Bob from San Diego" below gave the recipe to calculate the way Santander portions their principal vs interest percentages:
"... For simple interest calculations you have to remember that it is calculated daily based off your APR and remaining principal. So for example if you were approved for a $20,000 loan at 25% APR, 60 months term with monthly payments of $587.03 then your daily interest would initially be the following: Daily interest = (APR/ 365 calendar days) * Remaining Principal = (25%/ 365 ) * $$20,000 = (.0685% ) *$20,000 = .000685 * $20,000 = $13.7 each day (which is freaking high but bad credit got us here) which would mean out of that $587.03 monthly payment, a whopping $417.85 would go towards interest ($13.7 * 30.5 average days in a month)." I legitimately applied this to equation to about ~10/50 payments... all spot on. If only I could have had someone tell me... "pay it off quicker". Something. I do take full responsibility... but man. This is just the world we live in, I guess.

When I signed I knew to call to ask if my first payment was prorated (essentially two payments due your first month). I was given an emphatic no. Surprise, it was. I was given no help regarding it and no memos were left in my account stating I was told otherwise. Since then I've been playing catch up with my car payment and they are adding interest to the point I am likely to never finish paying this thing off.
Here we are today. I had attempted twice to make my payment via their free service which uses your checking account. They wait up to 9 business days to pull from your account. Which is simply ridiculous. By the time they pull it is returned reason stating, insufficient funds. Which is fine, if that were the case. However there my money sits awaiting it's home in Santander Extortion USA's pockets. So I processed another payment, same story. To avoid being repo'd I processed an instant payment via my debit card with processing fee and tah-dah. It went through.
Now 3 weeks later, on my payday they pull the original payment amounts as a duplicate payment. I called day of and was told no payment was processed. Then checked my bank account assuming my check was still processing and upon inspection I see that both my check AND the retry payment went through. So I called back and was not apologized to for the misinformation, and was told to get bent in regards to reversing this payment. "Since you processed two payments we will not be reversing either" - Rep with strong European accent.
Now I am disputing with my bank and have to wait weeks for them to *maybe* refund my charge while my other bills turn late as an effect. As someone who works in billing, I don't understand how this even makes sense to them. Also the pamphlet they sent out with a website to make payment is no longer in their control and is a scam site seeking unsuspecting person's credit card info. A frightening oversight though unsurprising when you deal with them.

Finally ONE honest rep told me what they were applying the payments to. So they collected over $10,000 from me over the five years. The car eventually died. The repairs were almost $3,000. So I told them to pick the car up.
They did not want to pick it up. So the mechanic ended up keeping the car. I just got a letter from them yesterday saying that I still owe them $17,000, but they'll settle for 12. After making my March payment of 302.78, something told me to see what my pay off was, so I hit the button on the automated system to see how much I got left on my car payments. It said 10,297 and some change. How could that be when I have been paying for 2 yrs. My loan was for 11,000 and something. Ok, so I began to do some research on Santander USA and found all these review that was not good, how they were doing the same thing to me. So I came across one review that explains how they operate then you can make the right decision for you. This is how Santander gets you, whatever your loan for your car plus the interest then your car is paid off, but Santander gets the interest first out of your payment.
Here is an example: My payment each month is 302.78, my interest is 6.29 every day for 30 days, so 6.29x30=188.70, that 188.70 comes out of your month payment of 302.78. That's why you're not seeing your balance drop. Ruby stated that where you bought your car they are suppose to explain how this works, but of course for me they said nothing making me think that all I have to pay is 11,000 back when in reality you're paying 11,000 + 10,000=21,000 to pay off your car. Why did the car dealership screw you like that? Because Santander already paid them off. That was the 11,000 for the car, but you the customer has to pay back Santander the 11,000 + 10,000 in interest because they are charging you every day for 30 days in a month.
So if you want to Know how much Santander USA is charging you every day call them and ask them how much and times that by 30. Now you know how much of your phone payment is going towards interest and how much is going towards principal which is to get your car paid off. I hope this helps some body to understand why you're not seeing your balance drop. So if you pay to the 30 days of interest which is 188.70 + your monthly car payments of 302.78 then you will begin to see your total balance come down, by then the total cost of your car will be 21,000 dollars.

I finally figured out how to get online with them, logged in and there so many fees. How is it possible to charge me for all of these fees when you never told me to pay you from the beginning? Everything else on my credit is paid on time.
I'm ready to just take the truck back. I've asked for them to send me a letter to send to my credit bureau since this is their fault to no avail. My girlfriend explained to them that she talked to someone about it and explained the miscarriage and the hospitalization and the woman told her “that’s no excuse to be late on a payment” and proceeded to ask her every detail of every check she received since she got the loan. I have read hundreds of the reviews left here and was afraid to take a loan from them as well but did and haven't had any problems thus far. I called customer service and they told me that I was 1 out of 100 individuals who seem to understand how the interest is applied so I figured I would provide an explanation. So for simple interest calculations you have to remember that it is calculated daily based off your APR and remaining principal. So for example if you were approved for a $20,000 loan at 25% APR, 60 months term with monthly payments of $587.03 then your daily interest would initially be the following: Daily interest = (APR/ 365 calendar days) * Remaining Principal = (25%/ 365 ) * $$20,000 = (.0685% ) *$20,000 = .000685 * $20,000 = $13.7 each day (which is freaking high but bad credit got us here) which would mean out of that $587.03 monthly payment, a whopping $417.85 would go towards interest ($13.7 * 30.5 average days in a month).
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO RECOGNIZE ESPECIALLY WITH THE VERY FIRST PAYMENT. If you elect to have your first payment not be due for 45 days (like I did) and only make the required monthly payment when due ( like I did ) you will be behind on the interest (like I was), but not late on the payment because... THE FINANCE CHARGES BEGIN THE DAY YOU SIGN THE FOR THE LOAN!!! Meaning that you will be charged 45 days worth of finance charges: Finance charge = Daily simple interest total since last payment = $13.7 * 45 days = $616.5. And if you only made the first payment (like I did) which is based on 30 days not 45, you can see how after making a monthly payment of $587.03 but owing a finance charge of $616.5 would leave you with a finance charge balance of $29.47. That's how they get you!!!! (Because now you have a balance you didn't even know you had.)
Because everything is applied to the interest first and whatever is remaining towards the principal, while the finance charge compounds daily between payments. I quickly realized this after my first payment, so I immediately made another payment and another one multiple days in a row to test it out. Sure enough my second payment included only the interest accrued from the few days of finance charges since my first payment and because I made my 3rd payment the very next day after my second, the finance charge was slightly less than $13.7 and the rest of my payment went towards principal.
If you never even pay late, only make the required monthly payments, but extended that very FIRST payment out past 30 days of when you signed the contract, guess what? YOU WILL NEVER PAY DOWN YOUR LOAN. YOU WILL BE BEHIND FROM DAY ONE. (That's what they are counting on.) PLEASE CALCULATE YOUR DAILY SIMPLY INTEREST!!! Figure out how much of your payment is going towards that and you will be fine. If you have to pay late just know that the interest doesn't stop so you need to know that when they say everything is applied to interest first, they mean it. (fees and interest get paid prior to principal balances). Think of it like this: Do I have a finance balance since my last payment? Do I have a late fee balance since my last payment? If one of these is yes know that your required monthly payment may not cover all outstanding balances, especially if you are early in the loan.
People trust me it works. I know it sucks but if you have the knowledge you will never be behind the eight ball. Now that I am aware of the way the finance charges work I have paid down sooo much of my principal in comparison to my interest. The more I pay down the lower my Daily simple interest becomes and the more my payments get applied towards principal ( and round and round it goes). Hope this review helps at least one person not feel like they are getting screwed because face it, they are in it to make money so they aren't going to tell you how to save it.

I called the dealer and they said no they don't. It goes to Chrysler Cap. Called CC again and that time said it WAS applied. OK. They reversed late fee. And the next month got my PAPER bill mailed to me. Then 2 more the following 2 months. Now I am seeing they did not send my latest 2 paper bills. Showing me behind again. I'm a small business owner and bills come across my desk constantly and are put in date order to pay. And I pay on time each month. But I lose track of Chrysler Cap because no paper bill. And when I discovered this today I see the last payment amount is a smaller amount than what my bank account verifies I paid! So now what with that??
I already thought I had the problem with no bill being mailed to me solved. But I guess not. Being Sunday today of course I can't contact them. Now I have the additional payment amount problem to address too. We're getting off to a rough start. And all these other reviews are worrying me now. So I hope I didn't step in doo doo getting involved with Chrysler Capital! Time will tell.

I returned my lease in great condition, inside and outside, with less than 11,000 than it should have had by the end of the lease. I took pictures of the car before turning it in, as I always do. The vehicle was at the dealership for over 15 days before Chrysler received it. I then received an end-of year bill from Chrysler Capital with $1,300 worth of charges for damages my car did NOT have when I returned it.
Chrysler Capital has asked me to send them pictures, send them paperwork from the dealership indicating the length of time the car was left in the dealership, I have sent them EVERYTHING they have requested me to send, and still Chrysler Capital REFUSES to make things right! I have left voicemails asking to speak to their Assistant Vice President, I have spoken to various people in their Office of Consumer Practices and all I get is an unprofessional, condescending, careless response! No wonder they have such low ratings! How is it possible that the "top guys" are not paying attention to all the complaints consumers have! UNREAL.

Plain and simple. I bought a 2013 Ford Focus hatchback, my credit was decent around 570. Got a loan for $14,000 signed and drove off in my new car. Paid ON TIME without fail for 2 and a half years $370 a month. I began to have issues so I was going to try and trade it in or maybe refinance, so I call asking what the payoff is. It was over $16,000!!! Tell me how after over two years of paying without fail, I owe MORE than what the loan was originally for?!? 8 months later, they came and got my car last night as a voluntary surrender. After all fees, interest, and BS the total would have been over $32,000 for a USED sedan with 45 thousand miles on it when I purchased it. Makes no sense at all! I will never work with them ever again, and will tell every soul that will listen how horrible they are.

So every month I have money in the Checking account, it is their fault "they cannot locate my account" and I have to pay an extra 25-40 dollars, and why is that so I keep asking them about this, to check my account, and their website always has this block at the end of the payment page.
After several months trying to talk to a supervisor, I finally got an honest lady and she said, she was the supervisor, and their website has a problem. Just imagine!! Not to mention they do not tell you that all of their atm machines do not withdraw your funds, you have to physically go into a branch which is 30 minutes from where I live. They were there when no one else would finance me (or so the lazy girl in the finance dept at the dealership told me). I didn't have terrible credit - just over 600, had record of 2 previously satisfied car loans but yet this was the only company who would take me and at the low finance percent of 18% (still unsure if this is actually legal, I've never paid more than 9%). Desperately needing a car and just wanted to be done with the whole car buying process I agreed. When it came time to sign the papers I read EVERYTHING twice over, I was fully aware that my $18K car was actually going to cost me $30k over the next 5 years. It was a hard pill to swallow but I agreed.
I'm no idiot I'm well aware how the financing process works - first all your payments go to interest and once that's paid THEN your payments get applied to the principal. I think it's a pretty straight forward process and this is how EVERY single lending company works. (I've done this 3 times) I'm not sure why people are complaining about 2 years of payments and they still owe 12K on a 5 year old car. READ the contract you signed. It's right there in black and white and you agreed to it. It's not Santanders fault you didn't pay attention to what you were signing.
My issue with them is the interest percent they charge, it's ridiculous and on top of that they charge you fees with EVERY SINGLE PAYMENT - a few dollars here and there add up. I understand it looks like they are "helping" people down on their luck but to me seems more like taking advantage of people down on their luck. I've been with them for 7 months now and I owe a whopping $17 less on my car than I did when I bought it lol. Once I hit my year mark the first thing I will do is refinance it with literally any other company with a lower finance rate - I highly advise everyone else to do the same.

I was on edge the entire six years of my loan and I just knew the company would screw me, so I said I would write a review once I paid off the vehicle. In actuality, my experience was not bad! I did not get screwed over! Of course, my note was paid early each month and the car loan was paid off in full. There was never a late payment. My payments were reasonable - but I didn't have a crazy interest rate to begin with. I did not have to call customer service much, so I cannot speak to that. The only reason I had to call was to see where my title was. A few weeks later I was told that my local DMV had the E-Title on file. When I went to pick it up, it was there, as they said.
Santander gave me no problems. The only thing that annoyed me and the reason for only four stars is that I would repeatedly get emails saying the number on file was invalid. Not only did they have no reason to call, but the phone number on file was very much valid, as I've had the same number for over 15 years. The first time it happened, I called to make sure that no one was trying to reach me. They said that they hadn't called so they weren't sure why I got the email. After that, I just got the email and ignored it, but it was quite annoying to get it so regularly. Overall, my experience was the same as any other lender. I paid on time, they gave me no crap. I didn't have to wait lightyears for the title that was rightfully mine. I can't say that I would use them again, but I had a pretty reasonable experience overall. Minus the email thing, no complaints from me.

Taking on my bills and my parents' bills left me falling behind on credit card debt, so my credit score wasn't quite up to par, but I was notified that my loan was approved through Santander Consumer USA. I accepted the loan, as the car was only $13.5k and I thought that even with the exuberant interest rate I would be able to pay the car off. In doing research, I have made most of my payments on time, or shortly after the due date, and I have paid over $11k in NOTHING BUT INTEREST!
A little over 2 years in on a 5 year loan, and I have paid $0 toward the principal balance. I didn't do proper research into the interest rates or laws in my state regarding those rates, but according to my state law, the loan that I signed was 6% higher than the state maximum. It is now 6 pm on the following Monday.
So, one week later on Monday evening, my account was still not credited for the payment. Daily I call and each time get different and they say "wrong" information from last person I spoke to there. My experience so far has been ok. It seems many of you don’t understand what a high-interest loan means. Take the time to read your loan contract because it will tell you how much that loan is actually going to cost you. You make the decision to sign it. They are a lender that gives to challenged credit. Yes the interest rate is going to be ungodly high. I knew this going in but needed a vehicle so I got something used priced well below 10k that I can try to pay off quicker and build my credit since the interest is so high. It’s funny to read people who financed a brand new car at 20-30k with a 26% interest rate come on here and complain that the principal balance isn’t going down.
Well of course it’s not going to especially for the first half of your loan term the majority is going to interest. Do I wish I could’ve went with someone else? Yes of course but for my credit situation it could’ve been much worse. I do understand some of the complaints with the customer service when calling. It’s been 50/50 with me. A few of the times it’s been very polite and professional when they explained everything to me. Other times it’s someone in the Caribbean that I can barely understand that knows nothing. I do wish they would offer refi internally but they do not. To be fair I was with Capital One Auto Finance years back and they also wouldn’t do it so it’s not just Santander the bigger name banks do the same as well.
I also haven’t had any extra fees or anything assessed to me when I was 10 days late and had one payment return on me. They just submitted it again and it cleared and nothing ever came of it. Maybe I’m just lucky but I haven’t had the negative that many others apparently have with that. So just know what you're in for beforehand and pay extra on the loan if you can to save you some on the high interest. Stay on top of the loan do not fall behind because that’s when it really starts piling on you. Do that and you should be ok with them.

Well, they did EVERYTHING exactly right by me! I paid extra every month from day one, I was never late, the payment was credited to the principal correctly, I had zero complaints. I have never missed a payment, have always paid on time, always paid above and beyond the amount due. I had to jump through hoops to get them to give me back my online account and to again start reporting to credit bureaus.
This morning I check my credit report and find that they once AGAIN have REMOVED my account from TransUnion AND Equifax, with no justification to do so. I called them to inquire and to complain, and I now have to file disputes through the individual credit bureaus and with Santander Consumer. WHY??? WHY DO THEY DO THIS? Why do they intentionally TRY to damage customers who have never defaulted, never paid late, and have always paid more than what is owed? WHY?
And why am I, the customer, now forced to defend myself against this, when I have done absolutely nothing to warrant it? And I said I've tried to do it on the computer but they locked my account out so they said I was 8 months behind and I've paid on time each month. I've looked at my statements on the computer to see where my money was going to and not once did I see a spot on where it was applied to. I have 2 kids and no car. One of my kids is disabled so I kinda need that car to get to doctor appointments 3-5 hours away from where I live... so yes I think I should take them to court over this.

I leased a Dodge Dart from 2014 to mid-2017. I turned it in six months early since the mileage was almost up anyway and I wanted a bigger car. The remaining payments on the Dart were folded into my new Jeep payments and I was mailed a check for the balance to immediately repay Chrysler Capital. (Note: it was mail from a large company, so I got it about a week/week and a half after I turned in the car.) Life is ostensibly good until today when I was told that I owe over $2000 for an early termination fee. It turns out (and I was not told this by the dealership) that I needed to pay the balance from that mailed check within five days of turning in the car.
If it was paid after that point, I would be responsible for the loss the dealership makes when the car is sold at auction. I was not told this when I bought the Jeep, nor did I receive any bills in the mail. They just called every six weeks or so and left a voicemail that made it sound like they were trying to get me to lease another vehicle. This whole experience has left the most sour taste in my mouth. See if I ever buy a Chrysler again after all of this.

I found out in Oct 2018 I have not paid one car payment! They said it had all went toward interest! I'm suing them! Contacted the dealership and they said we did have it but it was out of their hands. The issue was never resolved and I continued to make payments. My grandmother paid a final payment of $1299.02. But only $500 was applied to the account. I asked why and no one gave a straight answer. I spoke to someone who barely spoke English and the manager was rude. I have the receipt for payment and I also have the receipt with their signature from the postal service where my grandmother mailed in the final payment by certified mail. They are still refusing to acknowledge their mistake. It seems like I'll have to get a lawyer. I read so many negative reviews about missing payments. It's ridiculous!

I called and reported the change and expected it to be changed across the board. No one told me differently. I usually make my payment through the text option but they failed to change the info on that so it hit a closed acct. Then they failed to contact me afterwards and said they were calling the wrong # even after I reported new info. Spoke to someone that could barely speak English much less understand me. Requested a manager to call and that never happened. Finally got in touch with the executive team and they just defended their incompetent staff. So not only did I have to pay late fees but a return payment fee. Whatever you have to tell yourself to sleep at night...

So I purchased my vehicle from a dealership in august of this year (2018) and when I left the dealership everything on my application was correct; address, phone number, email address, social security number; I’m a high school teacher and I am very detail oriented, so I was extra vigilant that everything was correct. I waited two months for a statement from Chrysler and received nothing. So I went online to retrieve the customer service number and gave them a call, mind you with my debit card in my hand. When I got a representative and gave them my Social Security number she told me that I did not have a loan through Chrysler Capital. I insisted that I did since, I did! I insisted that I did since I did indeed have one with them!! She assured me I did not and told me there wasn’t anything that could be done.
So I waited another month but this time I got a billing statement on Chrysler Capital letterhead and with an account number. I went online to register for auto billing, since I always do with everything that I have, and when I did so I was prompted that there was no account number in existence and still there was nothing under my Social Security number! How is that even possible?! So I call Chrysler and again they tell me I do not have an account with them.
Another month goes by, this time it’s November. I was completely over being told I did not have an account with them and the day after Thanksgiving, and BEGGED the representative to find my account. WHAT CONSUMER HAS TO BEG TO PAY THEIR BILL!? “Please, please take my money!!”, yet that’s EXACTLY what I was trying to do!! So after almost an hour of working on the phone the representative finds me. My account was under a totally different Social Security number, totally different address, totally different cell phone number, did not have an email address, yet was still attached to my name! So I asked the representative to correct my information.
But by this time the amount owed was more than I could afford at one time, so we set up a payment plan; $400 the following Friday, and another $400 the Friday after. I specifically told the representative that I am and HAVE been willing to pay, and that I did not want my car taken, and he assured me everything was taken care of. Please tell me why when I called Chrysler to pay that Friday, that they could not find my account?! Hence the payment AGAIN was not made. Four days from when I attempted payment the principal of my high school comes into my classroom where I am teaching and informs me discreetly that my car is in the process of being repossessed from the school parking lot!!! So much for discreet, as the while my car is being lifted into the air, the bell rings for nutrition and the entire school is released and watching my car being towed away! How absolutely mortifyingly embarrassing!
So I call Chrysler immediately to tell them they have made a mistake; even though my car is literally being repossessed they STILL could not find my account!!! Finally they find me; I am on the third page of a bunch of people with the same name as mine; obviously nobody wanted to do their actual job to locate me ANY of the MULTIPLE times I’ve called!! The customer service representative said that there was no mistake and that if I didn’t want my car repoed that I should’ve paid my bills… How dare him say something like that when I have been trying to pay for my car for three months!!! And who does he think he is scolding me like he is my father!?
Long story short, since my car has been repoed I have in total spent roughly a days of time on the phone with Chrysler Capital trying to remedy the situation, and have them pay for the fees for the repo for the tow to the storage yard and the storage fees... all of which total over a car payment and a half for me, AND the fact that now my car is at an auction yard three hours away from my home! Every single time I speak to somebody they tell me, in no short of words, that they don’t care; I literally had a woman say “come on! I don’t care what you talked about with billing!”. I was so mortified and angry that I started to cry and I am not a crier. I told her to stop talking and she transfer me to her supervisor; why did it take an hour for me to get a supervisor?
At the end of that conversation they told me the same thing, that it was on me, even though I have been trying to pay for three months; again who is so honest as to get to the bottom of the situation and be begging for them to find their account so they can pay their bill? I AM AN HONEST PERSON!! How dare them!?! I literally have spent three weeks trying to get my car back and they do not care. I am beside myself with disbelief that a company that has a customer service department is not servicing their customers in any capacity. I went to retrieve my belongings at the initial Car lot where my car was towed to, and the girl at the window tried to charge me for my things, after Chrysler said I wouldn’t have to. So she gets on the phone with Chrysler and discovers that Chrysler had never processed the paperwork in order to get my fees waived.
Obviously the representatives at Chrysler are sitting on their butts doing absolutely nothing because every single time I have needed them to do something so that I could just pay my bills and live my life, they aren’t doing the simplest of tasks!!! I do not understand how an institution is able to function and not provide its consumers with what we are signing up for!!! I am tired of spending sleepless nights worrying about my vehicle; I am a teacher who wanted to enjoy her hard earned Christmas break and visit family who lives over two hours away, and I can’t!!! I am depending, as a grown woman, on other people to take me to the grocery store! How dare Chrysler do this to me!?
I have come to the conclusion that there must be some sort of scam going, on because when I talked to the girl at the car at the tow yard she said that the majority of the Chrysler repoes are billing issues on behalf of Chrysler!! Consumers are saying that they tried to pay their bills and that Chrysler does not push the payment through for days! I am mortified because I am stuck with them until my loan is over! They charge $10 to process a payment with a representative (as if it’s so difficult for the representatives to accomplish ANYTHING IN THEIR JOB), $3.75 to use their automated payment line, $2.75 to pay online, but it’s free to sign up for auto debit; I would not trust Chrysler Capital with my used tissues, I would be crazy to set up auto pay with that scam of a company!
Here is the point of this review; do not get your loan through Chrysler Capital. They will not take care of you. They will completely screw you over. Please do not take the chance with your car or your credit. I am a hard-working, educated single woman; a hard working, honest and law abiding teacher, paying students loans, Who aspires to own her own home someday however far away that is. But the fact that now there is a repossession of my vehicle on my credit report disgusts me beyond words!!! I understand that Chrysler Capital will give loans to people who have a hard time getting loans from other institutions, but please take my advice. I don’t write reviews. I’m not a complainer. But they have taken so much from me, completely disrespected me, and refused to do the job for which they were hired and established to do. Please let what happened to me be a warning to you.
Do not do business, REPEAT, DO NOT to do business with Chrysler Capital. Having a car for three months is not worth the heartbreak and embarrassment of them repossessing it three months later because they REFUSE do their job. PS. Please offer negative stars as an option, because Chrysler deserves -5 stars. Literally a disgusting embarrassment of a company. Big business abusing consumers.

I'm so used to writing reviews out of frustration, that it's refreshing to write a good one for once. The JDC dealership I purchased a little Fiat to use as a work car from is a bit of a different story, but the service received from Chrysler Capital financing is something I was very happy with. My experience was quite different than 99% of the reviewers on here. I never had any issues throughout the life of my loan, which was only about a year and a half, but I initially had to call them every month since I would pay additional principal that I had to have allocated correctly. They eventually changed that to where additional funds received automatically goes towards the principal, so I was pleased to see that they were trying to better the customer experience.
I paid the loan off about 2 months ago, and have called the dealership several times to cancel my GAP insurance and get that refund. I finally spoke to someone who told me that Chrysler Capital had already done this, and that the check was on its way. If you've ever tried to get a refund on Gap insurance, you know this is rare! For every other car I've ever paid off, you have to contact the dealership and jump through hoops to get your money back. Even the woman at the dealership was surprised by this. I appreciate anything that results in me having 1 less thing on my plate to worry about! Personally, I would recommend them for funding a loan, and I will certainly use them again if the need arises.

This is the second time Santander bank screwed me over with their interest for my car. Yesterday, I was told $438.55 was my last payment and that the state of California would be notified and that I would get my pink slip in the mail for my car. Now I have to owe $11.02, out of nowhere, then $11.11. Secondly, my payment for this month was "past due". Apparently, they disabled my auto pay without notifying me, so I was late. So I called them and politely asked what was going on. Then, I was transferred to their automated service to make this final payment and didn't have to worry about the late payment, which is in January with a total amount of $493.69. I didn't want to give them $55 more dollars, so I paid the $438.55.
No one said anything that day about $11.02. I always got the statement every month of the total amount owed. Principal, plus interest. Now I'm being told that the statement is the principal only all of a sudden. Very convenient for them. Turns out, I owed $449 after making a huge payment before. That $449 was never brought up in their statements or the phone call I made yesterday. They enjoy taking money from people who work hard for it. They explain things very poorly and misinform their customers.

HOWEVER, their interest rates are THROUGH THE ROOF. Like absolutely uncalled for. I had fairly good credit when I originally financed my car with them, just not a lot of credit history and my interest rate was still 19.8% which is insane. That's credit card interest rate high.
When it's all said and done I will have paid about $30k for a Fiat. A FIAT!!! It's barely worth $8k KBB. Oh, and I mentioned I HAD fairly good credit when I applied for my loan... Well the payments are so high that when I started accumulating other bills I couldn't make my car payment. Which has screwed my credit up. And there have been medical bills, etc. that I've had to forego paying to make my car payment. So now my credit is bad and I can't even get the stupid thing refinanced. Just trying to get a hold of somebody takes half a dozen phone calls and literally hours. Everything is automated and trying to get through to an actual person is near impossible. It's pretty sad that a company like this will take advantage of somebody with less-than-perfect credit trying to make things right. We all know how important our credit score is to our financial situation. Yes, we are all capable of making mistakes. But all of us should also have the opportunity to be given another chance.
Especially since our credit score basically defines who we are these days. These people are like predators that feed on weak prey. It's like they are taking advantage of the weak - knowing that you are in a vulnerable spot and taking and sucking all they can get out of you. Santander will take advantage of you in every way possible. Even ways that you didn't think were possible. Trust all of the other reviews. I'm not going to even try to explain my situation with these people. Just believe me when I say that I was taken advantage of while doing what I was supposed to be doing like so many others. If you see a review, which I have, that states they are nothing but excellent - it's pretty obvious that it is somebody who probably works for the company trying to up their rating. I have a car mortgage with this financial company, I have a payment settled due on the 13th of every month. Chrysler Capital NEVER informed that they are having troubles with the website or having problems with the way their website works with customers like me. Every month my auto pay is scheduled for the 13th of each month, and money is saved in my Checking account.
For some reason, they were always grabbing money from this account, then they started taking from my other account. Basically they were taking money from two accounts. So, closed one account and also called for the other account to notify me. I opened a new account just for the car payments and each month the Chrysler Capital "unable to locate my account" so the payment is late. They charge me late fees, they call me to make a phone payment for ten dollar charge and for some reason they have Western Union involved that charges me additional 10.95 each month and they bill me for $25 dollars for late fees as well. Basically I end up each month paying 40 dollars out of pocket in addition to the $422.30 monthly payments.
Several times they call me and give me a Supervisor and I have explained to them my dilemma of hurting my credit, they are "unable to locate" my account but when the operator takes my card payment they charge me 10 dollars extra on top of my regular payment of 422.30, and this is coming out of the same account they were "unable to locate". They never compensated for me the loss of the amount of exorbitant money it costed me to pay and they have hurted my credit and frustration and loss of making calls during my lunch hour (30 minutes) when I should be eating my lunch and not being hungry as I am diabetic too.
Today, when I requested to talk to a Supervisor, she told me they are having issues with the website!!! So, you are having problems, and you are charging 10 dollars on the phone for 10,000 customers, so you are making 100,000 already from these calls, and also pulling 25 dollars from these 10,000 customers so this is 250,000? Just do the math!! I am a math teacher, so what is going on?

They charged me for a memorandum title but after further investigation, never processed it. 2) THEY WILL NOT RETURN CALLs. They claim they have no way of dialing out.
3) OVERPAYMENTS ISSUED AS FEE BASED CASH CARD. If you pay off your loan, any OVERPAYMENT amount rather than refunded to you (or deposited back into your bank account where the monthly payments are made from) they issue you a monthly FEE BASED card that can only be used for purchases UP TO THE AMOUNT of the card, if registered AND WITHOUT ANY CASH BACK CAPABILITIES. Financed an auto loan in April for $17500 with an interest rate of 26%. My credit score was in the 570-600 range. Was in desperate need of a vehicle to go to work to and didn't do my research before applying for an auto loan with Santander. Went to the dealership and got approved with $3600 down. The positives: Santander did not require a cosigner nor proof of address or income which surprised me because most lenders require this. They helped me out with this and they also gave me an extension to make payments due to a family emergency. Your credit will also jump a significant amount if you make your payments on time and don't default. My score jumped 70 points to 640. I will give credit to Santander for helping to build your credit. They have excellent customer service and multiple payment options.
Negatives: In spite of this, I still do not recommend Santander because they prey on poor, weak, bad credit individuals who have no knowledge of the law and charge an insane (in some states illegal) amount of interest which is usury. My total finance obligations for a 6-year term totals $41,800 for a vehicle that is worth $13000 KBB value. Santander does not disclose on your online account how much of those payments will be made to principal, interest, or total balance. I discovered that in August 2018, Santander settled with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) for Massachusetts and Delaware state officials for $11.8 million for not properly disclosing terms about its auto loans to consumers. If you do not have good or perfect credit, stay as far away from Santander as you can.

He would pay my daughter cash to cover the monthly lease. She filled out the application and listed as 'employment' a new job she was about to begin. This was a sales job that never panned out. She had no income at the time. Zero.
Her good credit was due to her having a credit card for small purchases she made while in college, and I paid the monthly bill. We set up a loan extension with Santander in October and made the requested payment to get the account back on track. On 11/11/18 the truck was repoed in the middle of the afternoon. We the driver hooked to the truck, we called Santander to confirm that the account was current. Since it was a Sunday, customer service could not do anything until the Recovery Department was open on Monday. I called in (there were 184 callers ahead of me) and got the account reinstated and was to call Tuesday to schedule picking up the vehicle. Monday night, I had two men show up at 11:30 PM to pick up the truck. Claimed they were repo agents. No license plates on truck and refused to ID themselves. Couldn't give me the VIN and demanded that I let them search our barns and outbuildings. I told them the vehicle had been picked up the day before and they told me they weren't leaving without the truck.
I asked what co they were with and they each said a different company at the same time (and we later find out both companies are bogus). I am home alone with 2 kids. I replied that I was going to call the Sherrif and they replied they would be gone before they would arrive. And I responded, "Not if I shoot the tire of your truck." They left at that point.
The next day, I call Santander to let them know of the incident (this is the third time in 4 months that we've had "repo men" at our door when there was no open order to secure the vehicle). We then call to set up an appointment to pick up the truck and the Recovery Company tells us Santander canceled the release because the agent picking up the vehicle was shot at (not true). I try to explain the incident occurred AFTER the truck was secured and we don't know who was at our house Monday night. Santander will not budge. States they made their decision based on the agent statement, yet they won't take a call from the actual driver who has called numerous times to confirm that there was no issues picking up the vehicle. They state that we can only get the vehicle if we pay the loan in full or we buy it at the auction. Can they legally do this?
I can't get anywhere calling in to them, and the recovery company is willing to release the vehicle back us. The Recovery Company that brokered the pick up has been very helpful and the local company has been, as well. But Santander will not listen to anyone and I can't get ahold of the same person twice. We've paid $30,000 on a $70,000 truck and now Santander says they don't have to release the vehicle because of this altercation. Very frustrating!

This company is horrible. We made our payments and there was a glitch on their end so they said we didn't make payments however we have ALL on receipts! They then repo our car and then they charged all these misc fees. I beg you. Please do not finance through this company. They are a FRAUD!!! Will be taking them to court. All day they have been hanging up on me and will not talk to me about getting my car back now. I'm owing 2000 past due on a 2014 Kia that I have already put over 4000 in with “late payments” and their lies.

I purchased a new car in 2016 from Kia & Santander financed my car. I was given 2 mailing address one of which was a P.O. box in Atlanta to mail my payment. I mailed all payment to this address since I've had my car. In September of this year I mailed payment on 20th as usual as well as the October payment. They called and I explained that payment has been sent out. I was told that the P.O. box in Atlanta has been closed and that they're not sure how long it has been closed, but payment has been mailed. I explained I haven't received anything about P.O. box closing. They responded that all payment will be returned to Customers and apologised. They did not have a forwarding address so the payments will come back to me. I mailed copies of Receipt payments to Santander and it's like they are ignoring any letters and receipts of payment.
As of Oct 11, 2018 Payment still has not been returned. Postal service ran a check on Money Orders and said they have not been cashed, and since Santander didn't have a forwarding address that it would take a few week for mail to be returned. I called Santander to let them know about my findings. I received a letter on 11th October threatening to repossess my car when I've made all payments that if I don't pay 772.00 they will repossess my car.
They are taking their negligence and trying to place it on customers which is unfair. How will the customers know mailing addresses have changed unless they inform customers. This has resulted in Negative Credit Scores as well as lots of charges to my account. When I have done everything I was supposed to do as a customer. What type of Corporation let a P.O. box that payments are mailed to gets closed and not know it? But it's like they're not willing to wait for payments to be returned because of their mistakes. My next payment is due Nov 22 2018 which I plan to make. I looking into legal Counsel. This has been a nightmare. Bad business practices, bad Customer Service, unnecessary fees.

I hate my car loan through Chrysler Capital. They have been telling me I have been behind 4 months on my payments for almost 2 years now. I missed 1 payment and I went from owing 520$ to over 800$. Like what in the world!? There is no option to pay the principal and my loan interest rate is over 20%! I am absolutely floored. I had a 2010 Toyota Prius with a ln interest rate of 9.1%. I lost my Prius when I was in a car accident and it was totaled out. I then was out in a 2015 Nissan Versa note which was 10,999 and we put a 2500$ down payment on it. My Prius was much cheaper than the piece of crap car I have now.
Do not get me started on the insistent phone calls! I had to erase my phone number from the online database because they would call me at work, at church, at late nights etc. I am so done with this company and them ruining my credit score. I have an appointment with my bank on Tuesday to go through all records to prove I have indeed made payments except for the 2 months which I have asked for deferments on.

Santander Bank security measures are wack. My car was broken into. My bag wallet including my debit card were stolen. I accessed my BOA account and deactivated my account. I'm about to calling the 24hr BOA line service to report it. Santander on the other, first their system was down, then when I was finally up, I was locked out of my account, I called the number on the site, their office hours are from Mon -Fri 9-5. Also, due to the holiday, they are closed on Monday and will start back on Tuesday. THAT'S RIDICULOUS!!! If they are going to provide such security measures, they should provide means for clients to call in and secure their accounts. Why is there not a fraud or claims department? I can't call in, I can't access my account. I am here just hoping and praying that the thieves don't use my card and make purchases especially now that one can charge a card without pin # or ID verification...

I got the loan in June. When the dealer told me the due date, I informed them that it wouldn't work because I'm on a tight budget and I have to have a certain day to pay the bill. The dealer told me I could call them to set the date, which I did. They would not allow me to set the date I wanted so I figured I would try to make it work. I couldn't make it work and kept getting late charges so I decided to call and ask them again; explaining my situation. They said that I opted to change my due date once in the life of my loan already and was unable to do it again. So, I am looking to refinance with another company to get away from them so I don't pay $40K for a 20K car because of monthly late fees. I think they are truly scam artists. Bottom of the Barrel.

We just purchased a new vehicle in mid-October and financed with Chrysler Capital. We only financed 7,500.00 on a 34,000 vehicle. We found a phone call on our phone missed call record that someone had called a week after purchase. They did not leave a message. We looked up the number and it was Chrysler Capital. Our phone message requires the caller to identify themselves or the call will not be accepted for a message. We called Chrysler Capital to find out what they were calling for. The person said they were calling to give us the information on the loan. I asked why they did not leave a message and the representative said they do not do that. I asked what the information was and was told the amount due was ** and due on ** date. The representative also said what the pay off was and gave me a different date (11/08/2018) that was earlier than the first payment due date. The representative was not customer friendly.
After reading negative posts about Chrysler Capital and our first experience with them was not friendly we decided to send payment and pay the vehicle off. We are still in progress with that, hopefully, as the check has hit our bank. It arrived 2 days before the pay off due date. On 11/15/2018 we receive our first payment coupon. Included in the information was the payoff date with an as of date of 10/28/2018. That date is worthless since it has already passed. It appears that the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing at Chrysler Capital.
Our suggestion is do your homework when financing with any finance company including Chrysler Capital. Ask questions and read everything before you sign it. Ask what the interest rate will be and for how many months. We are now waiting for our title to be sent to us. We wonder how long that will take. Chrysler Capital is affiliated with Santander Bank. Santander's reviews are also sub par.

I called customer service due to not being able to sign into my account. I had to change my number. IN the middle of asking a series of questions the computer froze. I get that. It happens. She put me on hold and transferred me. I then went through the process again with a new rep. Her computer kept freezing and I was placed on hold a handful of times just to change my number. She then proceeded to ask me where I opened my account and I told her the town. She placed me on hold once again.
When she got on the phone she told me she could not change my number until I had the exact address where I opened my savings account. Mind you I had this account for many years. I was on the phone for 42 min and 43 sec and as I asked her why this phone call is taking 45 min to change a phone number her answer was “it’s been 30 min”. So in the end my number was not changed and I’m still not able to sign into my account. She was not helpful and also not nice. I will be switching banks.

Santander does not communicate when overdraft fees occur, only if they continue over 2 weeks. Unbeknown to me, I was charged $135 before ever getting contacted about the fees. By this time, my account went negative, and was now incurring even more fees. While I understand it was a user's error when mistakingly selecting an account to pay out of, the lack of support/communication from this bank is astonishing. I do not advise banking with them if you prefer a bank that can alert you when there may be issues with your account. I no longer bank with Santander.

I have read many negative reviews about Chrysler Capital. But here is my story. Yeah the interest is high, but it's my fault I messed up my credit years ago. But due to medical problems, I fell a month behind. I kept making payments, but always that month behind. Due to the negative reviews, I was terrified to call. Finally, I got sick of looking out my window first thing every morning to make sure the car was still there and called Chrysler Capital. I was shocked at how friendly they were. They pushed two payments to the end of the loan and lowered my next 6 payments by $165 so I could get caught up not only with them, but others. All you have to do is work with them and they will work with you. These guys took a chance on me when no one else would.

6 months after turning in my vehicle EARLY, I get slammed with an "End of Term Final Bill" with accusations of damage to this vehicle that never happened while in my possession. Car dealers are not going to attest to the condition of your car when it's turned in! Lease inspections should only be performed when owner is present. These allegations are absurd and immoral - Bold Face Lies! How do I know this damage was not done in transportation? But yet I am liable? Absolutely not! How can there be excessive tire damage when I turned my vehicle in early and well within my allotted mileage?
These tires were sub-par when I drove the vehicle off the lot! I'm a middle-aged mom raising a teenager - I'm not doing doughnuts in the parking lot or off-roading through Mount McKinley!!! Buyers beware! Do NOT lease a vehicle through Chrysler Capital - you will find yourself in need of a lawyer! This leasing company is criminal and should be investigated for extortion and unethical business practices.

After reading so many negative reviews I'm thankful that it was incredibly difficult to sign up for an checking account for Santander which drove me away from even bothering. Their customer service is horrible and none of the instructions match up with actual requirements. It started when I received a generous offer in the mail for a cash bonus if I opened a checking account and thought that I'd give the bank another try. I used to have an account with them back when it was Sovereign Bank which was great. I canceled my account after the merger and I was receiving ATM withdrawals from someone else. I didn't even have an ATM card at the time. I was told that "it happens sometimes" and that there was an issue with account linking because of the merger. I ran away.
Back to recently, I filled out the forms online and received a barrage of emails telling me that I needed to sign up for online account access and install the app immediately. In order to do so I needed to provide my account number which it assumed I had already. Nope. I didn't receive that until several more reminder emails and over a week later. In order to activate the account, one has to receive a message on the linked phone for verification or answer a bunch of DMV related questions. Except nobody bothered to link the phone number provided during the signup so after entering all of my information, I had to go back to the beginning because it said that no phone number was associated with the account.
I had to log in to provide that. Whoops, can't do that yet. The DMV question route didn't work either because after doing that, it said that I was incorrect and had to either visit a branch or call the support number to be granted access. The nice lady on the phone then told me that I had to go to the branch and that the phone support was unable to help with that issue. I questioned why the website even suggested calling. "Oh!" She cheerfully informed me, "that's so we can advise you to visit a branch!" Great, another 15 minutes wasted in this process. And I give up. Thank you Santander for making it incredibly difficult to open an account so I don't experience the additional issues that the rest of your customers seem to be facing.

I needed the account number and routing number. I am the account holder and my child is also on the account. My daughter has the card and she's in school. But I had to call her school and ask to speak to her because SANTANDER didn't help me at all. When I asked the damn lady WHY she kept repeating she can't give me the account but didn't state why. Let me close this account and put my money in my other accounts such as CITIBANK and BOA. I can't handle this type of service. People have situations or emergencies and I can't believe for my account with my damn money, I couldn't get my account number. Mind you she didn't verify any of my info. Bye ignorant bank. I got a $15 late fee for paying early and was told it's because I have a automatic payment and the system doesn't recognize early payments. I always pay early and have never gotten a late fee and it's never been an issue. When I asked about that I was told they're not responsible. How can I trust a company that charges you for making early payments and picking when it's an issue. Imagine if they do this to every customer. They're practically stealing money and can't give a good explanation for a charge. The customer service is barbaric at most.

Horrible experience! I was in an accident, NO fault of my own other party. The other’s party insurance is willing to pay and process payment for diminished value of vehicle. However because Santander is the lien holder they have to make the request to the others party’s insurance. Santander refuses to do this! I’ve spent almost 2 yrs calling different departments and reps being bounced around promised this will be done but it doesn’t. State Farm is willing to pay $1200 diminished value towards loan of my vehicle but Santander has to make the request as owner of the vehicle which they REFUSE to do! Horrible lender.
Run away from this lender! I’ve talked to sooo many people requesting top in the organization being promised this matter will be escalated only to get the runaround. When your vehicle is in accident and you try to trade or sell you must disclose it was in an accident which lowers the value of the car. The other party at faults insurance is willing to pay this difference towards my balance but Santander refuses to make a damn effort to help themselves and me! Lazy jerks! Please do NOT do business with them. Horrible service!!! Read reviews bad ratings overall!!!
