They closed the account with the company picking up the vehicle 8 days ago and made no attempt to pick vehicle up. Dirty business and playing games. Do not trust this group of foreigners.

I'd give them zero stars if I could. My husband passed away and I called to pay off the loan. They did everything in their power to prevent me from paying off the loan - sending a letter that they wanted to repossess the vehicle (he owed $4,500 on a van worth $17,000). Every time I called for the payoff balance, I was on hold for at least 45 minutes, and the customer service representatives refused to give it to me (even though I provided documentation that I was the executor of his estate). I finally made an educated guess on the amount and sent in a check, making sure to overestimate. I eventually did receive the title. Now, as for my refund for the overpayment, I'm certain I'll never see it. My husband purchased 12 new Chrysler vehicles over the past 20 years. While I've been happy with our vehicles, I will NEVER use Chrysler Capital for financing!

My auto loan is still pretty new so when a family medical emergency caused me to miss a payment I really didn't expect much from them. I called to see if there were any options to keep from having a late payment. I was told in my first call that they couldn't defer the payment because of how new my account was but they could remove the late fees for me. I would need to call back when I was ready to pay and they would do it then. The rep I spoke with made it sound as though this was a pretty standard process on their part, and had my loan been older they could have done more.

I called back 4 days later (I was given 8 days in original call) and was told they absolutely would not be able to help in any way. The second rep said the first rep "misinformed me". So, now I don't know which rep actually lied to me. The first rep seemed ready to take off the fees right then had I been able to pay that day. Did the second rep just not want to bother helping me? I've never done business with Santander before and if this is how they conduct themselves it will be the last time.

My vehicle dealership shopped a loan and I signed paperwork for Santander lending. Little did I know that 3 weeks after taking possession of my new vehicle, I would receive a letter from Santander that they had reviewed and were unable to extend credit. No reason provided. I called customer service and while each agent was sorry for the experience, no one could shed light on the impetus for their letter. My first payment was due in a week and yet, according to Santander, I did not have a loan. After many calls in two days I was able to speak to an 'Executive representative'.

Here is what I found out: Yes, Santander can send this type of letter knowing it is not factual at the time they send it. No, they are not apologizing for that, why? Because they can do this for up to 30 days, and they are proud of this 'power'. I learned there is no appreciation for concerning/confusing the customer by sending this type of letter. The Executive Rep finished by stating I can get a loan from elsewhere or, return the vehicle to the dealer within the 30 day period. She also included that they did nothing wrong. I will shop a different loan as the Santander representative recommended.

I have been a customer of Santander Consumer USA twice now for vehicle financing in the past 20 years. This is the first time that I have ever had a vehicle that was totaled in an accident. Since the accident on 11/10/2023, dealing with Santander regarding this issue has caused a lot of undue stress and aggravation. We have been given misinformation as well as the run around multiple times in regard to the whole process of how and what to due about the complete loss of our vehicle that we only just purchased 4 months prior in 07/2023. First we were told we had to continue making our regular payments until they received the full settlement on the account (so we are supposed to continue paying for a vehicle we no longer have and can be verified with Motor Vehicle?) and that they would file the GAP coverage claim.

About a month later, after they received the initial payout from the other party's insurance company on 12/16/23, we were told that we were required to file the GAP claim, which I promptly did on 12/27/23. GAP processed their portion and sent the check via regular mail on 01/17/24, which was returned to them on 01/29/24 due to having an incorrect address. We got that cleared up with a 3 way call between myself and the two companies. I also found out that Santander had also filed a GAP claim themselves on 01/19/24, two days after the initial check was mailed out. Santander finally received the GAP payout on 02/09/24. During this time, Santander is continuing to charge us interest and late fees accruing additional monies owed on the account before they will close the account out along with reporting late payments and increased balance amounts to our credit reports.

I contacted them again on 2/12/24 regarding the increasing balance they continue to show on our account and told them I should not be held liable because it was not our fault that GAP had the wrong address. I was then told to contact the dealer in regard to the Tire & Wheel Warranty payout to pay off the remaining accruing balance. I contacted the dealer again on 02/12/24 because this warranty was cancelled at the end of 12/2023 as well, found out they were given notice on 01/03/24 that the cancellation was approved and authorized to release funds, which they had not yet done, I explained to her how their delay is messing with our money and finances. This individual was supposed to contact me after speaking with her manager the next day.

I had to call her again on 02/16/24 in which she stated she got approval from her manager to release the funds and FEDEX the payment instead of mailing it via standard mail that is their standard practice. I contacted Santander again regarding the additional accruing finance charges and late fees, insisted on talking to a manager that could help or anyone else that was higher up. During the explanation of everything, the supervisor at Santander told me it had been my responsibility to make sure that the GAP company had the correct payment address to begin with, WHAT?!?! Anyway, this story is not quite over yet and I do hope that Santander Consumer USA does the right thing by the customer because we should not be penalized for a no fault total vehicle loss along with the other company's corporate policies and negligence that is completely beyond our control.

I purchased a 2013 Nissan Altima in 2017. The cost of the car was $16, 251. The APR was 27.67%. The finance charge was $17,596.92. The total cost for this 2013 Nissan Altima was $33,883.09. I paid on this car for 5 years, with payments totaling $20,538.00 at $470.00 a month and only $518.00 went to the principal. It’s been a struggle to pay this car off. Once I learned about the Predatory Lending lawsuit in 2022. I contacted Santander because I believed I was a victim of their scandal. They told me I didn’t qualify, but never explained why. When all the facts are relevant.

I wrote a complaint to Santander, CFPB and the Attorney General in California where I lived and I was told the case has been closed. Santander charged off the loan with a balance of $17,689.00 as of October of 2022. I reached out to a few lawyers who never contacted me to get a deficiency waiver, and the title to the car, which was one of the settlement agreements and received no luck. As of this week, Santander repossessed my vehicle. I have paid more than the cost of the vehicle. I am a victim of ther iscandal. I need help on how to get my car back with the title or be compensated.

Do not sign a loan with this company. They failed to send any loan repayment information. Forced to call and tell them to send the loan information, they charged a late fee for the first month, waived that late fee then continued to charge late fees for the first month’s payment for the next nine months. Several phone calls were made to stop the late fees. Their incompetent “customer service” simply refused. Forced to move the first month’s payment to the end of my loan, they collected five years interest on that payment and they collected nine false late fees on that month’s payment. Every subsequent month’s payment for five years was made on time.

This group is unethical and practices illegally. Their website payment portal is completely wrong by hundreds of dollars. It does not state principal paid, interest paid nor does it show late fees. Again, three layers of “management” refused to correct any of their errors. Please avoid them if you can. I unfortunately had a car repossessed and dealing with them was a nightmare. I called several times to get the correct amount and payment method. I was able to obtain the money and made a payment online using one of the acceptable methods of payment and the agent said they would send release paperwork. After 3 hours with no response from the repo or recovery company I made some calls, no paperwork.

I then called Santander back and was informed my method of payment could not be accepted, luckily they cancelled the payment. I then had to call my bank to get a temporary limit on my account to be able to make the payment. There was no intent to contact me about this. I made the new payment and contacted them so I could finally get the payment portion taken care of, it was now almost 5pm on a Friday. I had to call them yet again after the weekend because no one had received paperwork. I was finally able to get paperwork sent that evening and get my car returned on a Tuesday. I took 2 days off work to take care of this. If they had given me the correct information I could have returned a rental car 4 days early and obtained a refund. My plan is to make a couple on time payments and refinance through my credit union.

So you can read through the reviews yourself. And wish I would’ve done so before having them take my auto loan. I tried for a month to get into contact with them. Went through a hard time and haven’t had my phone or phone number that they said they tried to reach me at. I sent messages through my account and sent emails letting them know I needed to discuss my account. I sent several messages where I was prompted that a representative will reach back out shortly. However that never happened.

One day I went outside to go to work and my car was gone. I called in to ask them what the hell happened. They indeed took the car. Seemed like they wanted the car more than they wanted me to communicate to figure it out. I then was told I have to make all of this in payment instead of trying to figure it out. Mind you, I was receiving emails to contact them so we could figure it out. They avoided that completely. I feel scammed, I will pay everything all at once by the date I gave them. After taking back the car, I will plan on refinancing. I want to get as far away from them as possible.

Customer service representative was explaining something in a way most wouldn’t understand. She was confusing herself. And when I asked how come I never got a reply, she said I have to call them. But I explained I didn’t have a phone and they could email me and send me messages but I couldn’t send them emails or messages? Seems neglected. Seems like they rely on business by screwing their own customers over and will be writing a reviews on every platform possible. I wish this was a structured company so I can actually write to someone who would do something about. But truth is, they won’t do anything about it. And will continue to do their unfair business practices as long as they are a company. As consumers, we need to put them out of business. No amount of lawsuits stopped them. And they still do the Salome things that brought them into those situations to begin with.

It was also told to me that they do not have an option to set up overdraft protection the prior times I contacted them. Today December 2, 2023 they made another payment and charged me a $15 insufficient fund fee. I contacted them again and was told that they can make payments on my behalf without my consent and that anything $100 or more will be charged a $15 fee. How can you have control over someone's account, make a payment without their consent after they have told you many times to STOP and then you charge them for what you have done? I had literally two late payments the whole loan and I had switched over insurance companies and they had the date of the start of the policy wrong so it appeared I had a lapse in coverage but I didn’t, it was a paperwork issue and I had insurance the whole time. I called Santander several times to get it changed over and I kept getting transferred, after they said it was all good, mind you I was never behind on payments I woke up one morning to no car.

I called the police thinking I had my car stolen. After dozens of calls I called Santander and they illegally repossessed my car and because my next payment was due in three days they told me I had to come up with not only that payment but two payments plus the fees etc and when I said ok, not to agree with the amount but wanted my car back they transferred me and I was told they will not be reinstating the loan and it’s going up for auction. Even when I offered to pay when nothing was due. I then had to go get my stuff at some storage unit and they said they hate working with them that they get these illegal repossessions all the time. Also I had my car 3 almost 4 years paying close to 400.00 monthly now how did I still owe over 20,000 when I bought it owing 19,000? Awful and needs to be shut down! They deserve no stars.

However the title still listed them as the lien holder. To issue a new title, their name has to be removed. Myself and the previous owner had over 3 hours of conversations time with customer support to get a release of lien sent to me. They refuse. Their people from the initial call to managers on duty are incompetent. They think this a title issue. It is a internal issue. The payoff letter had already been written and sent. It got misplaced by previous owner. To get a copy is next to impossible, because of corporate policies. What would happen if for some reason the previous owner was unreachable? Their policies, procedures and staff have no idea how to solve this case. Most do not even know what a release of lien is let alone how to solve the issues!

I'm reading all of these reviews here and I just wanted to share my experience. I got an Acura RDX with them from the Acura dealer, this was back on September 2020. I put a few thousand $ as downpayment so they ended financing $14k, at the beginning I regularly made payments of more than the monthly amount (probably a $100 more or whatever I could), only a couple of times I doubled the monthly amount, that was for the 1st year of the loan. I've had to call them a few times to update my address multiple times, since I've moved to 3 different locations ever since, one of them being to another state, customer service got my back sending me a copy of the title because it was requested by the Florida DMV, I couldn't understand at the time because NYS doesn't require this.

I actually had a very hard time with the DMV. I did not know what to do so I called Santander and they handled everything for me. I also missed a payment, this happened about a year ago, it reflected on my credit as a late payment, I called them and requested that the late payment be removed in good favor because I've had excellent payments history so far, they removed it from my credit for me. Also recently I would say two weeks ago I was late with one month running behind because I work A LOT and sometimes get my days mixed up so I wasn't even aware or couldn't remember I did not made the payment the month before, I thought the situation through and after a voicemail and a text from them decided to call them and informed them the exact day I was going to be making the payment which was going to be for the missing payment and the incoming payment as well all together, I also explained the reason why.

They documented it in my account and I did not receive any other calls and of course I paid them as promised. Is Nov 2023 and I owe $1,613 or so and am very happy that I almost have it paid off. I read some reviews complaining about their app, I can't speak as to that as I always use their website. Overall I'm a happy customer.

The government is allowing an already sinister company decide who and what loans should be forgiven or cancelled so I’m sure that this company is not going out of their way to adhere to to helping me, as I have been deviously “bilked“ on a high interest loan with a very low income to debt ratio as far as I’m concerned!

My credit score being a low 549 (they refuse to give me my internal score) a very low income monthly government benefit of only 1,040.00, so I’m not understanding how I even obtained this loan originally created by my daughter after the dealership gave her false hopes of an assurance that she was coming in for just this thing, however, explaining to them it being a complete waste of time for everyone involved due to her creditworthiness and income being of great issue also.

Yet Cardinale Volkswagen Salinas continued to barrage her with phone calls, informing her not to worry, they were Cardinale by god, they could do anything! So finally relenting to their pushy promises, she made a visit to this dealership. After all the facts were presented, all the numbers drawn up,, her paid off 2012 Volkswagen Passat offered as a trade in, exchange for a 2018 Ford Fusion that they,, with all its promises pushed at her for a co-signer,, ultimately picked out for her as well. She called me after much coaxing, knowing I would not agree to this. I felt a little put on the spot, but out of respect for my daughter, I just bellowed, “Sure”.

I’m 84 years old with Alzheimer's, and this dealership is at least 60 miles away from me., but they were willing to drive all the way to my house in order to complete the paperwork on this loan. My daughter had given up her one and only vehicle for this loan and when they came down to my house to sign the paperwork, I noticed that I was the only name listed on the contract. After all their hard work and false pretenses, my daughter was squeezed out of this loan completely! Had even given her own car up as a trade in! This loan was pushed at me, much in the same way their promise to get her into a car was. Shady from the start!

Now this dealership had false intentions from go because truthfully? I was in the same boat as she was credit wise, with the same Government benefits. So I don’t know what determined me the better signer for the loan? So this whole deal seemed sinister from the start, and right there and then, I was basically getting papers thrusted at my face, in all their harried rushing with my obvious confusion. So I comfortable was not what I was experiencing in this. I found it difficult to even begin to glance over any of the contract terms, finance fees, length of loan, etc. So I signed away following each paper thrust in my face.

To this day I have payment hardship, can’t meet my bills, unable to refinance an "upside down” loan + income to debt ratio so impossible, that no one will touch me. Santander won’t redo the loan and I cannot make all my bills at this rate! I’m fearful of the remaining 4 years needed to buy this vehicle with all its mechanical needs also. Help!

How is it I still owe $27,000 five years later? It’s up for repossession and they still have not came to pick it up. They’re asking me to make a payment and it’s up for repossession. This is crazy. Yes I have some late payment and an extension but $27,000 still owe to this date. That’s mean if I keep it I will be have paid $53,000 for a 2013 Range Rover. That’s insane.

I was even able to help her understand her position as a consumer as I explained an unrelated matter, whereas I explained to the business owner, "I don't want anything except that another consumer NEVER has to experience what I have at this dealership".

I absolutely admire the candor and empathy from Melissa and her acceptance of the company's responsibility in this situation. I absolutely will rethink my continued relationship with Santander, solely on my interactions with the abovementioned representative. Not everyone is looking for something free just because a business made an error. But the presence of mind to resolve the conflict where it's a win-win for all parties is something I think is almost nonexistent in our culture these days.

I was originally with Carfinco, here in Canada. I was a little concerned when the company had changed (I was about 3/4 the way through my loan), and had experienced bank screw-ups before upon account transfers, but I gotta say it was seamless. I appreciated also, that I could still prompt Carfinco, and the Santander site came up.

My loan with Carfinco originated before the Covid crisis. When that happened, I was restricted from an additional weekend part-time job I had had, and budgeted on. Carfinco allowed me 3 deferrals at various points, allowing that I paid the interest. Later after my account had transferred and I resumed my second job, a second outbreak had occurred which caused me to lose another pay period. I hesitantly called Santander, and was relieved to get another deferral, same terms. When I could, I began additional payments every couple of weeks which always updated on my account in 24hrs., and was able to catch up closer to my original maturity date.

I am now paid off. My experience with customer has always been pretty good. When I did call in about the loan closure to request they advise the credit bureau to release the security they were a little snappy with me, saying it wouldn't be until 30 days which was fine with me, and seemed to bring down the tone. I suspect the reps get grief from the customers from time to time. Again, the experience was good, and efficient.

For some reason I was charged double that is $990 so I called and asked why was I double charged and they pretty much said they couldn’t help me with the payment because it was pending. So they told me to call my bank and dispute one of the payments which I did. My bank disputed a payment of $495 and Santander kept the other $495.. Cool so I thought I had already paid my car payment for the month of April..

Fast forward to today April 28 I look at my bank account and noticed I was charged $495 AGAIN by Santander. I GIVE them a call again and asked why the hell was I charged again when I already made the payment earlier this month. They claimed that one I disputed one of the charges they never received the other payment which is the reason why I was charged today. And I said, "No like you guys did received it because if you didn’t then my Bank would have refunded me $990 and they didn’t because you kept the $495 like you did receive my car payment." And the lady tried to manipulate me to thinking they never received the payment. Sounded fishy and wrong. Felt like they were trying to scam me. So I decided to call my bank and I explained to them how I was double charged earlier this month and how I disputed one of the payments. And also told them how Santander said they never received one of the payments.

The nice lady from my bank Chase looks at my account and confirms I was charged $990 and Also confirmed that Santander DID RECEIVE my payment earlier the month so there is no reason for me to being charged again as of today April 28 so now they had to dispute the charge that they charged me again and now I got to wait for me to be refunded. They will tell you when you get close of paying the loan off and adjust the balance to a larger amount and tell you that you will owe $5,000 or more and get you to extend your loan for 6 months or more with a larger interest rate. So beware of Santander Consumer USA and do not use them for loans.

I know that there was a class action lawsuit against them and I qualify for the requirements to be included however I was not included. Any time I reach out to the company regarding my loan and my situation I am told, sorry, we cannot help you and I am never able to speak to a manager or anyone that knows what's going on. Not one cent of my payments have been going to the car loan. I requested a payment history from Santander showing the beginning of my loan payments to current and it showed nothing going to the value of the car. No one at the company will give me a straight answer as to why this is happening. I also went back to the car dealer, who I believe to probably be shady as well, and I was told that it wasn't right what was happening to me and that I should file bankruptcy. Wow...

We leased our 2020 Jeep Cherokee Nov. 2019. Our lease is approaching the final month and we decided to exercise the lease buy out option. Dec. 9 2022 we requested the buy out balance and took it to our personal bank for the exceptional rate they were offering us. We were financing an amount less what the payoff was going to be so we called to ask how to handle the proceeds because the bank was sending x amount and we would be sending the remainder ourselves. The representative we spoke with said it would be easy. "We will just use your debit card x amount (well over two thousands dollars). Call back in the next day for the payoff amount reflecting the new balance, we will issue a new payoff statement so your bank can overnight the balance."

WARNING DO NOT EVER DO THIS!!! For 6 days when we called back they claimed their systems were down and could not issue a payoff letter showing the new balance. After 14 calls to get the new pay off balance we are told they can not do that and we have to pay the full amount in one payment and that we would have to go through a process of about two weeks in order to have the money we sent refunded. Our bank no longer trust Chrysler Capital Leasing to send the title (they have heard in the banking community these guys are always trouble). So to get it resolved it will probably be large dollars in attorney fees, but off we go.

My scheduled payments always show up in my account on the website but those $500 only shows after they take it. They claim that it is normal for scheduled payments to not be shown on the website. How is that legal? In order to get a refund I have to fax them my bank statement although they can see that additional payment was withdrawn on my account.

After I faxed them, nobody contacted me to let me know they received my fax and I will be getting the refunded. I had to keep calling just to be told I will get refund in 30 days. They steal money and don't want to return it. I started looking into lawyers who will take my case and will be posting about it on all social media because if they are doing this to me they are doing it to others and it is time to expose them and stop them. Santander deals with unethical car dealerships that acquire loans through Santander and sell bogus car service contracts and get monetary benefits, this whole experience has been a nightmare, and it is the reason they paid millions from a class action lawsuit, and they are still conducting business the same way. I have already filed a complaint with the BBB, and my State Attorney General, Santander and car dealerships they do business with need to be held accountable for the treatment of customers. I recently turned in a Jeep leased through Chrysler Capital. In the few months preceding the lease end, my online account portal had inaccurate information, and deleted my auto-pay information with no explanation. It had not accurately tracked payments that were made (verified on my bank account) and as a result, I ended up double paying one month's payment.

I called to rectify the situation in June and was told I would be getting a refund for the double payment via a debit card that would come in the mail. I called again in July to check on status and was then informed that I had to produce proof that I had paid twice before they would send me a refund. Not only is it ridiculous that I would have to prove it - they had already verified that I had paid twice on the earlier call. Not to mention it’s horrifying to think that a financial organization doesn’t even trust its own systems to track financial information. And the proof they asked for was absurd. They actually expected me to send them full bank statements. That’s private information and completely irrelevant. I sent them proof of the payments (and only proof of the payments).

I turned the Jeep into the dealership in July. In September, I FINALLY got some correspondence from them. And guess what it was? The final lease vehicle return fee. And a note saying it had been sent to a collections agency! They had never sent me an invoice in the first place, and then send me what is essential an overdue notice. Ridiculous. I mailed in the check, since I don’t trust them with my credit rating for a second. And surprise surprise, they cashed that check in about 5 seconds. But months later, they still owe me money and I have gotten zero response despite multiple calls and letters. The worst. I will never have anything to do with any vehicle that is managed by them. And I will spread the word to warn others thinking of doing the same.

They said I owed $X past due, $XX in fees, & $415 in repo fees. I took out a loan to pay them immediately. This brought my bill up to date. Suddenly they are trying to charge me $415 again!!

    3) Their bill will say “bill date” 9/22/2022; amount due on 9/12/2022. Yes you read that correctly. How can your bill be due Sept 12th, when the bill was generated on Sept 22?! This is every bill, every month!! 4) I had asked for an extension once, and they sent me paperwork that contained the name, address, vehicle, and amount due of another customer in Michigan. When I called and told them, they didn’t care. Fortunately, I ended up not needing the extension, so I didn’t sign any paperwork. 5). If you try to pay your bill early (example: pay October in September;) they add that to your principal & still try to charge you for October. You would think that there would be someone who would notice that there is no longer a balance on that account, and the payment would be stopped or returned right away. No. I had to call and wait on hold 4 different times, each time I was given a different answer. The payment won't go through and process, then it was the payment can't be reversed until the bank releases the funds, then it was the funds should already have been returned to the account.

Finally, I was told that I had to wait THIRTY DAYS for the refund to be returned to my account. Which is completely ridiculous because it only took 2 days for them to take that second payment. Getting 4 different responses tells me that nobody knows what they are doing, and nobody is notating the account which means there is 0 communication going on among them. I've had to explain the issue every single time to them. My birthday plans were affected, and now my son's 5th birthday party is going to be affected also.

I reported it to the MA Attorney General's office who got it resolved. Two months later, Chrysler Finance/Santander decided to put remarks on my credit report that cost me 120 points off my credit score.

Chrysler/Santander lied and said I was 120 days delinquent on my lease. That started a ripple effect, credit card companies saw that remark and reduced my credit lines drastically, which cost me even more off my credit score. I went from a score of 720 to 525 in 24 hours. They put their lie in the "remarks" area of the report. However it still showed 0/0/0 for 30/90/120 days past due, and also showed "paid as agreed account closed satisfactorily" along with a green check mark for each month paid on time. It didn't matter there was so much conflicting information and an obvious lie, my credit still suffered. I called the MA attorney general's office who got after them and the remark was removed, but I did not get the 120 points back that I lost from their lies, I got back 41 points so my credit is still stuck in "Poor". Highly advise if you ever lease or finance a vehicle do NOT go through Santander, or Chrysler Financial.

I paid off my car early within a couple of months of purchasing it and they flat out refused to send my "pink slip" and instead sent me a link release, which I had to take to the DMV, pay more fees and now I have to wait for something that should have been given to me in the first place. Words of advice, if any car dealers mention Santander, walk away and shop elsewhere.

Anyways when I recently submitted my dispute they CHANGED the records on my credit report and put that it was an open collection. When I disputed that, then they changed the date that my account was closed to a recent date although the account was ACTUALLY closed in March of 2019! Both updates they made dropped my credit score an additional 50 points! How can they do this? Lie to Experian, Transunion and Equifax and get away with it?!?!

In December 2021, my car lease was over. I decided to purchase my car. My new lender for the car loan is Santander Consumer. I had a previous autopayment set up to my previous account when the car was leased. I forgot to take off the autopayment, and accidentally paid twice for my car payment in January 2022. The amounts were $388 and $399. On January 20, 2022, I called Santander to have them send me a check for my overpayment. After a rude man answered the phone, I asked to be transferred to a manager. The manager explained to me that I had three options: use the overpayment toward next month's payment, get a prepaid VISA card sent to me, or fax them proof of payment from my bank so they can send me a check with the overpayment amount. She also mentioned that I have VISA card coming to me from a previous overpayment in November 2021. I did not authorize this nor was I made aware.

I decided to fax the payment proof from Chase bank. I was expecting to receive a check like the manager had stated on the phone. I never received a check. I called Santander to follow up on February 3, 2022 around 10:34 am EST. The representative (CHNE #**) Christopher answered my call. I began to explain my situation to him and was rudely cut off multiple times. I was not able to explain what happened without him cutting me off and telling me that I have a contract which states that any extra payments go toward the principal. I need to know why I was initially given three choices for a repayment on 1/20/22.

Christopher began to interrogate me with questions that he knew the answer to. He did not listen to my story at all. I was unable to communicate with him. He could not help me, and did not want to help me. He showed no empathy towards my situation and should not be working in customer service. I am being told different things by different people. I need some answers and my money back.

I am so disappointed with the treatment Santander has presented me. I asked the Senior Advocate to investigate how my forbearance was presented to me by a Santander representative as I was told my loan would be frozen throughout the forbearance period and any missed payments would be added to the end of the loan and my loan would be extended by that time frame. I was on the call with the Hope Hotline, an organization Santander lists on the payment voucher as well as the call was recorded. It was never communicated to me that the payments were not frozen, but being forgiven and that I was incurring interest the entire time.

Fast forward to the end of my forbearance period, I am only being given the option of paying the lump sum including interest I should not have been incurring on a frozen loan, to either the end of the loan as a one lump sum payment, paying it all now or having the amount plus the interest spread across a new 40 year loan, essentially paying interest on interest. The Senior advocate did confirm that the loan was “paused,” but that it was a miscommunication that I would not be incurring interest. When we speak she hasn’t presented to me any information from the original call that Hope Hotline participated in and instead of helping come up with a mutual solution, she has just continued to push the same agenda that my loan was frozen, but I am still responsible for paying interest on my frozen payments.

All I ask is that Santander stand by the original agreement that my payments were frozen and I should not have accumulated the $6,000 in interest during the time the loan was paused. There is a recording of the conversations and you can review them at any time. I have had to take further action and report Santander to the Better Business Bureau and the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau. Please note, Santander has not actioned either complaint since the phone call Phyllis made reiterating that I was just confused and didn’t understand the terms and it has been a month since the first complaint was filed.

Subsequently, I received notice in December 2020 that Santander USA filed a 30 late notice on my account. I spoke with the Director of Finance at AutoNation and he provided me a letter on their letterhead that due to Covid 19 they had a shortage of staff and thus the final payment was delayed. So after 72 months (6 years of on-time payments), the dealership admits wrongdoing in a document signed by the Director of Finance. I also had my attorney provide a letter that stated that once I conveyed the vehicle to the dealership that I was no longer responsible for the vehicle. Thus, after providing these documents personally to Santander and Experian, and then after hiring Lexington Law to submit our case, Santander has yet to remove the 30 day late.

I'm an investor and my credit is imperative. My next step is to file a lawsuit against Santander USA and I may be able to pursue damages. They are liable and have a duty to acknowledge the auto dealership's admission of providing the late payment and the attorney's statement. This bank think nothing of abandoning long standing customers and NOT offering any alternatives. I can't even close an account because you have to appear in person at a branch, and the closest branch is now 2+ hours away.

I don't even know where to begin. First my loan was predatory to begin with (and don't think I don't know about the multi governor lawsuit), but then 2 hours after I bought my car my home burned down. They helped none. A week after buying the car and 3 more times it broke down and I was charged hundreds...2 years later those issues are part of a dangerous recall and Kia is ignoring the fix because I can be part of the lawsuit endangering my life in the process. Then covid happens. I have lupus and was trapped home, my life at risk while they supposedly helped me by deferring payments at the 23% interest rate knowing I was desperate. I couldn't give up my car. I have lupus and have to make Dr appointments all month.

Now I find out EVERY SINGLE PAYMENT I HAVE EVER MADE was only applied toward interest. Not one bit for 2 years came off of my 17,000 I bought it at. I still owe 17000 plus and they want to say my payoff is 20,000 after getting 12,000 from me. YOU WILL BE SUED!!! Someone needs to stop this company. And why are you reporting I owe 20,000 on my credit when in my app where I make payments I owe 17,000???? I gave you $3000 recently. Where is that???

As an old person, wasn't sure if online was safe. So I had to go to bank building to check on my accounts. Decided to try online a while back when pandemic started. Now I am enjoying this convenience.

On March 27th, 2015 I started my car loan with Santander, Each 27th of a month I was charged 287.93$ for my car payment. All my payments paid on time with no late fees/issues. Since I open my bank account (2011), I DIDNT change any of my Banking information. All those years my payments received on time and I didn’t receive any call regarding payment issues from Santander.

On March 18th, 2021, I noticed that on my Santander online profile I have a late fee of 4.93$. I called Santander customer service and I was told that thanks to my payment history they will process a waiver to that fee and will charge the balance as they always did. On March 24th, 2021, I checked again my online profile to make sure the fee waived and noticed that fee again. I called Santander customer service, and I was told that the reason I saw the same amount again was because the manager views my file and waived the fee. I asked the representative what my balance, he replies 98.77$ and I authorized him to charge my account for the last payment, He congratulates me on my final payment and I understand it a done deal and my account is good.

On April 2nd, 2021, I received a call from a Santander representative that told me my car was towed, I asked him why the towing company called him if I paid my car in full, He replies that it's taking time to release their name as a lien holder (up to 30 days) and that’s the reason the towing company called him and not me. The morning after I released my car from the towing company and paid them in full.

On April 16th, 2021, I received an email that my credit score got decreased and when I logged in to my Credit Score account I saw a late fee with my car payment. I called Santander customer service to understand why (If I already authorized to charge my account for 98.77$) they report a late payment to the credit companies. The representative went over my history and told me that he can see that I always paid on time (Even in 2020 that I was unemployed) and there’s no manager in to take my call and to try again during the week.

On April 22nd, 2021 I called Santander and asked for a manager, Nicole answered me and told me as well that my history looks good, and then she transfers me to the executive manager (because she can’t help me with credit reports), I was waiting for 5-10 minutes, then Nicole got to the phone again and tried to push my complaint to another day or to wait 24-48 hours for a call back from them, I insist and asked to keep waiting and speak to executive manager, after 5-10 someone pick up the call and checked my file.. He said that because they (as a loan company) authorize to charge the same amount only (287.93$) and my balance was different from the amount above they couldn’t charge my account and this is why it became a late payment and that he cannot help me with my complaint.

First of all I have never heard of this company nor had any business dealings with this company and yet they say through a collection agency that I owe them 8k. This is a lie and false Accusations and they need to check their records.
