I bought a Dodge Caliber From Ohio October 2015. My loan is through Santander Consumer. I have never in my life had bad luck this bad. First 30 days, car has issues THEN loud noises. Couldn't take it back, car dealership refused to fix it. After that within a year I went to apply for the renewal for registration. Come to find out they never got the title from Ohio to Texas to switch to PA. Oh was I livid at this point. I'm a mother with two children. I drove this car everywhere, the car was NOWHERE in any system at any DMV. I did all the steps I had to do to make sure the car was legal. NOPE. The plate was still registered to my old car. I never received my taxes from the dealership in Ohio. I had no choice to quit my job and stop payments.
Over 80 calls to the DMV to this trashy company and every single person was rude. No matter how many times I tried to explain it was their fault and I refused to give them payments for a car I can't drive let alone I could have been arrested for a stolen car/plate! They have no feelings other than money hungry. I have given them an option, was told no it's not enough. Now I'm being harassed every day because they charged off the account this year. Funny how the car should've been repossessed a long time ago yet they know they are screwing me and doing it illegally so they can't come get the car. I won't give in after all the heartache these people have done to my family. My credit was hit hard because of them. My advice - tell everyone to NEVER to go THEM!

I purchased a car and was in dire need of a car. I went to reputable dealer where I purchased a car. Little did I know that the loan that I received was from Santander. I have had this car since August of 2013 and it seems as though I have never paid the balance of the note down. Because the cars age and reliability it is not worth the money that I am paying... Bought it for 15k and have a little of 13k plus to pay for it. Because I was in a job that did not pay me as well, and with student loans I would call and ask if I could have an extension to get the money into them. Unaware that they moved back the day and pushed more interest and fees on the loan.
I have paid more on my account and it has yet to bring my balance down. They have even taken my car away, and I was told if I paid a certain amount I would have it back and it would not affect my credit nor would it go on my report. All were untruths. This is very frustrating and I had no idea that this bank was as ruthless and deceiving as they could be. Almost preying on those that are trying to rebuild from past mistakes. Now I am trying to get a much larger car, and my circumstances have gotten better with my finances, it is quite difficult to get away from the Santander nightmare! These people are vampires, their customer service in making request of them is well below mentioning. Although this is a so called second chance lender, they should be investigated for the ridiculous way they treat people and their business practices... Yet I have got to get them from around my neck.

Well I started having seizures couldn't drive talk to Santander on a regular basis because they will blow your phone up In a heartbeat! They couldn't wait a week for a payment?!?! Are you serious. Ohhh that's because they failed to tell me that they added all kinds of fees when I had gotten a 2 month extension! These people are crooks!!! STAY FAR FAR FAR AWAY FROM THEM! I called Santander to get my car back, because I was behind on payment. The customer service representative I talked to told. Me to pay 809.95 to get my car back, so I gave her my information and she had to transfer me to another department to restore my information and payment but the other department already told me my vehicle had been sold already, I said "well why she didn't tell me that I wouldn't have me a payment", and they transfer me to a loan officer who told me that they apologize and that I should cancel the payment. SANTANDER IS A SCAM.

Bought my car in 2010. Still have 5 more months to go then went out to trade for a truck. But come to me that I still owe 5122.18. They said it was incur of late payment. I was shocked cuz the late payment was not add to my regular monthly payment. I called and told them that it was their fault for not putting the late payment on my regular payment. So now I am stucks with the loan and it won't be done for another year. That really boiled me over. Will never deal with them. They are greedy and big time ripped off. I reported it to bbb.org.

In the meantime, my mail was delivered by USPS, so... DON'T BANK WITH SANTANDER!! Not if you want a RELIABLE BANK!! Sorry! But I stayed up half the night to decide the plan for my employees safety. I purchased a 2015 Jeep Patriot 2 years back and was recently involved in an accident. Since my vehicle was financed when the insurance company sent the check to me, I was told to endorse the check then send it to the finance company (Chrysler Capital). I endorsed the check, then immediately sent it to them for them to endorse then send to the body shop. ONLY PROBLEM IS THEY NEVER SENT THE CLAIMS CHECK FOR THE REPAIRS ON MY VEHICLE TO THE BODY SHOP???
Every day I keep calling Chrysler and every day it's the same thing: "Oh, it's in the mail via FedEx" or "We have a representative on his way to hand deliver the check." BOTH COMPLETE BOGUS LIES!!! It's ok though I am fixing to own this dumb finance company. I will have the last laugh you watch and see!!! Don't use these idiots, they are complete and total crooks!!! Worst company ever - I have had a loan through Santander. Through the year of paying this company I have had to extend the loan by 4 months. Little did I know that they would continue to accrue interest and charge me for the months that was extended. NO one ever handed me a contract or verbally told me this. I have been paying a year and my loan has not gone down. I would stay far away from this company. NO one should ever feel like they are throwing their money away. This company does not care about you and they never will. Save yourself the heartache and disappointment of feeling used by a company that will never help you.

I was never able to fully open the account. When I called to activate the card, I had to verify all of my information, but then was transferred to fraud department, who said I had to physically visit a branch to show an ID - this would be a 10-hour trip for me. When I spoke to a supervisor, the same story was told. Chase/Amex/Citi has never required this of me. This is clearly a scheme to prevent the use of their 0% balance transfer offer for which I was approved. They placed a HARD INQUIRY on me that will stay for 25 months, and I will never be able to use this card. I see other reviews online that state the same problem.

I was looking to pay off my auto loan of just over $4000. When I called I was told that I could only pay $2000 a day because it is done through a 3rd party. Ok. Fine. The catch was that I would be charged a convenience fee for the 3 payments I would have to be making. Two payments for $2000 each and one payment for $44. I made the first payment and they were nice enough to waive the $10 fee. I called to make the second payment and I am told they can only waive the fee once during the life of the loan.
I asked for a supervisor and when she got on the phone, she repeated what the representative had told me and was not willing to help at all and was not even nice about it. Here I am looking to give over $4000 to your bank and you cannot waive the $30 fee? This is, of course, principle. Why am I paying a convenience fee, when it is not so convenient to have to call back on 3 separate occasions? Not to mention they were clearly reading from a script and very robotic. As a supervisor, she didn't even attempt to see if she could do anything. So irritated with them.

I went to trade my car yesterday at Henderson Chevrolet, and the only choice of a car was a 2017. I kept insisting that I could not afford this car. I am a disabled veteran, as well as a college student that is in great need of a reliable car. I am also on the HUD VASH program for homeless veterans. They kept me so busy in this car buying process I did not have time to call anyone, and I tried to leave at one point, but they had taken my car keys. I have tried to return the car, and I was told by the salesman, the finance guy, and Santander Consumer that I could not do this, even though I had only drove home with this car.
After researching Santander Consumer, they manipulate your credit store to allow the loan to process, knowing that you are going to default on the loan. All the while telling me that they are doing this to honor my veteran status, and getting me the deal I deserve. I begin my internship at the end of March, and now I will not have any car to accomplish this task to graduate. Please pray for me and my service dog, Lola for a answer to this situation!

I had reported my bank card lost and stolen on Friday the 13th. The lady I spoke to was great help. I leave my card in the ATM Friday after making a deposit. Of course I do that on a holiday weekend. My 6 year old son is sick with the flu so yesterday used a check to buy medicine after hospital trip. Today when I go to use my check again at stop and shop it was denied. I called the number and faced the reference number. They said was denied because I have no history of using checks, which was good in a way. Figure I will press 1 talk to customer service. First off couldn't understand a word she was saying. I updated my info and thought she was telling because insufficient funds, finally after saying 3 times "can't be. I have plenty of money" I heard her say history.
OK I said I'm still at the market and need to purchase things I need for my son plus was getting $50.00 out for gas purchase. She then relax me "your information is updated. Should I go in and try again but it might still get rejected. Is there anything else I can assist you with." I said "you're telling me I can try it but possibly might get denied so go through and talked a chance of leaving my groceries again and being embarrassed." Only response was "yes. Now is there anything else I can help you with." I was so upset now going home to tell my son couldn't get ice pops and some Pedialyte. I'm so upset that she was so rude. Couldn't understand her on top of this. Santander is the worst for emergency situations and they hire people who don't speak good English and good customer service skills. I really want to switch banks because of this. TD Bank was great when it came to being in situations.

First of all, I did not know Chrysler Capital treats its military veterans like crap. I bought a 2010 Chevy Malibu at $22000.00 because a friend said it was worth it. I was making all my regular payments until I had a 2 1/2 ton truck roll over my legs and I could not perform my job duties. I fell on hard times and applied for bankruptcy. Worse thing I ever did. For 6 months I was on /off from work so bankruptcy had to end. As soon as the bankruptcy ended they repo the car because they wanted me to pay almost $3000.in two weeks.
Never in my lifetime had I ever had to tell my baby daughter that they wanted me to pay for her clothes that was left in the car. My daughter has to go to school with some old clothes and shoes because I didn't have any money to pay for it. I'm a 25 year military veteran with combat and it's a disgrace to say that our money bail them out when the economy was bad and they treat us like that. I should have stayed with Ford. I learned my lesson and when I get back up on my feet, in my family we will never have a Chrysler vehicle parked in the garage or or on the yard.

I was placed in a position where I HAD to buy a pickup in August '14. I drove Ford, Chevy, GMC, and settled on the Ram because it was a LOT more truck for less money (still driving my '14 and still LOVING it). My credit was less than stellar (that's another story), but Chrysler Capital approved the loan. Since getting the loan, I've hit some "bumps in the road" financially. I have kept them informed of my (seemingly) frequently changing situation as it changes. I have experienced EVERY TIME that they have listened intently, understood, and have gone well above and beyond to assist me in every way possible. They have kept their word on EVERY occasion and have been an absolute JOY to deal with.
I can't even take off 1 star because of the silly and annoying fees they charge for making payments online etc. BECAUSE they've been so good to me. I resolved that issue by having my bank send them a paper check - end of silly fees. I have NEVER been on hold for more than a minute or two and the people with whom I've spoken have been empowered to HELP me. I have treated them like close friends when I've proactively spoken with them and they, in turn, have treated me in the same manner.
People need to understand that, like EVERY financial institution, they simply want their money under the terms of the agreement (finance contract) you signed when they loaned you money. They DON'T want their collateral except as a last resort - they just want the money back they invested in you - simple. I have read very negative reviews here and can't help thinking the review writers made a major contribution to their negative experience with this company. These negative reviews are 180 degrees from my experience. I would actually seek out Chrysler Capital to finance any new vehicle I buy in the future BECAUSE they have been THAT good to me - better than ANY other finance company with which I've ever dealt INCLUDING local credit unions. No, I DON'T have any connection to Chrysler Capital other than my loan with them. I'm a retired veteran living on a fixed income in rural Oregon.

We decided to pay down our HELOC. We then received a notice stating the payment would be deducted. So I went into my branch and was told that was because the statement was for a time period outside of the time frame that I paid down the HELOC. Well, Santander then took out the payment. I called and was told that the payment was sitting in the overpayment bin and they would transfer it back in 1 to 3 business days. They stole my money. Now they get to use it for the time period that they stole it. I hope to speak to a regional manager tomorrow. If not satisfied then I hit the banking commission and pull money out to some other place.

I have never been so dissatisfied with a company enough to create an account with ConsumerAffairs and write a review but here I am. Chrysler Capital is the absolute worst place you can get an auto loan. There is no grace period with them at all. So say your payment is due Monday but you don't get paid until the following Thursday you will get charged $10 a day until it's paid. Also they will harass you every day you're late no matter how many times you explain why you haven't paid yet. They will not work with you. They will not change your due date. IF YOU'RE GOING TO GET A LOAN GO THROUGH A REPUTABLE BANK OR CREDIT UNION. Last month I traded in my truck and the payoff was sent to Chrysler Capital the 16th they are still calling me, harassing me, threatening my credit. Ridiculous company. I am dissatisfied. Disgusted. As soon as I was told that Progressive did in fact total it out, I called them and told them every 4-5 days I called my insurance co for updates and soon as I hung up with them, I called Santander to keep them informed.
I have emailed them every copy of correspondence from insurance companies as I received them. I did pay a payment of $200 in the interim because they said they'd place a late on my credit if I didn't. Today, I get a nasty letter from legal saying they are going to enforce the right to cure and that I'm in default, will also go after me for their attorney fees, even though they have received every penny from both insurance companies, paying the pay off in FULL and owe me the refund of the $200 overage from my 11/20 payment. Steer clear! They stated that IF I am due the $200 after all payments from ins co's, it will take 45 days, if they determine it is an overage. Entire payoff has been received by them, not including my $200. Awful.

I also had an accident OVER A MONTH AGO and because Chrysler Capital won't release the check to the body shop I have yet to receive my vehicle. I've called almost everyday for the past two months and every time there's paperwork missing or an issue with them having to verify the body shop I have taken my car to, which by the way is a CERTIFIED and reputable local shop in my city. This man has sent his business ID number from the IRS and EVERYTHING all because they want me to go to one of the expensive shops they recommend. I purchased a 2008 Ford Fusion from my local dealership 29 months ago. My loan was through Santander. This is the worse company ever. My car was $9000. My interest for the 60 month loan was $8000 which made my total $17000. Within the 29 months I've only been late 5 times due to the loss of my job. This company would call on a daily basis over and over no matter how many people I talk to and explained my situation they still continued the call. A week ago my car got totaled and I called them to find out how much my payoff would be for my insurance company.
Well clearly they are trying to screw me over they are saying my payoff is over $9000 which is more than my car even cost and I had already paid them over $8700. I ask why do I owe so much. The rep told me "Well you have late fees and you have accrued interest on this loan." I said "But my interest was only $8000 for the full term of the loan. 60 months and my insurance company is going to pay the value of my car which is almost $5000." Santander then said "Well when is your insurance paying us and if it doesn't cover your payoff when are you making a payment?" I said "Really my car is totaled, my wife nor I can get to work and you are worried about when I'm gonna make a payment."
I have had enough with the rude man so I hung up. I'm not sure what to do. This is gonna ruin my credit after my insurance pays them. I will still owe a balance of over $4000 and they refused to only take their interest for the 29 months they want the full term amount plus sum. Any info on what I should do will be greatly appreciated.

Me and my husband purchasable 2008 Dodge Charger in September of 2008. The original loan was with Chrysler Corp. Santander eventually took over the loan. In January of this year (2016), my husband stopped making payments on the car. He did not let me know this until March when we received a letter from Santander. I immediately got on the phone and called Santander what I needed to do. Over the next few days I talked to several of Santander's representatives. Each time I got a different response on what I needed to do. I was finally told they would send me paper to do a readjustment. I was told to send my payment via MoneyGram which cost me 10 to 15 dollars every month (the fee had gone up from when I started making my payments from April to November of 2016).
The problem with this company is they have representatives that does not speak English, therefore it is hard to understand them. When I talked to anyone of "their" representatives about the readjustment, I was told to pay a certain amount on a specific day and to wire the payment. I was told to do this from April until November. None of "their" representatives ever told me that I would have a balance of late fees (supposedly during the life of the loan). I have tried talking to several of "their" management about this situation. That I was never told that my car would not be paid off in November like I was led to believe.
I want to know how this company can do business like this. This has to be the most dishonest company I have ever dealt with. I am not a prejudiced person, but when I am doing business (especially when it concerns my money), I want a person that can speak English (as in my case) that I understand them and they understand me.

I have paid my car loan on time for over four years. With the exception of TWO payments, which I made deferments for with Santander. A deferment is not a late payment by very definition of the word. So fast forward, Santander waited about three years after the deferments were made to update my credit report with 60+ days late TWICE. This means the house my family and I were going to purchase is a no go due to how awful it affected my credit score. The first guy I spoke to said they won't remove it from my credit report. The second guy gave me completely opposite information, including a department that handles those issues. I keep sending letters but nobody ever replies and calling or chat doesn't help either. The information given is NEVER the same twice.
Santander has single-handedly destroyed my opportunity at home ownership. I don't understand how what they did was legal, because it certainly doesn't seem legal or beneficial in any way for either of us. There's absolutely no benefit in continuing to pay my car loan anymore. I would have paid it until the bitter end had they not destroyed my credit pointlessly. Go to a "buy here, pay here" place and save yourself tens of thousands of dollars instead.
Also, the value of my car is about $8,000. After paying almost $600 a month for FOUR years, I still owe $20,000 until my car loan will be paid off. Which is nearly the exact same amount I owed four years ago. Do the math. I've paid Santander $28,800 for a car that was only worth $18k to begin with and I somehow still owe $20k, meaning I'm paying FIFTY GRAND for a car worth less than TWENTY. They call it 26% interest, but that's certainly not accurate either when you do the math. Seriously, make a deal with Satan before you make a deal with Santander. You couldn't possibly fare any worse.

Well, one day I went to login into my account, which I had previously no problem getting into, I could not access my account. I used the correct username and password. I tried the forgot password process. I never received an email for a new one.
Each time I tried to login, the website says my account doesn't exist. I tried to make a new online account and it says there is already an account with that information. I have called them numerous times to gain access to my account. Each time they either send me an email with a new password that never shows up or they put in a ticket to their IT department. It's been over two months and I still can't login into my account.

They will not work with you but will continue to suck your money, and will add on interest and late fees unrightfully. They are schemers. You have been warned.

I moved from Kentucky to Florida in March of 2013. I was going through a divorce and just wanted to start over. In my first month of living in Florida, I got into a wreck that totaled my car. I didn't have anyone to help me, and I needed a car quickly. I had a rental for a few days so I needed to find a new car fast. I found a car that I loved, a 2008 VW Eos. My credit wasn't great from my divorce and some bad decisions I made in college with credit cards. When the dealership mentioned Santander was the only company that would offer me a loan, I had to take it. I needed the car to get to work and I didn't have much of a choice. My interest rate was insanely high (16%) but I felt like I had no other options. My monthly payment was $320 a month, even though I put down several thousand from my totaled vehicle. I felt trapped. Santander never took care of me, I always felt like I was being penalized.
I am a retail manager, so sometimes it was hard to make payments. I got tons of fees for paying late so I asked for an extension in November 2015. They granted it to me, but then I was slammed with a bill in the middle of Christmas and was basically threatened when I told them I couldn't pay it on time. I tried to go through a company to refinance my loan. They said I was too "upside down" on my loan to be refinanced. In the meantime, my car was losing value, it's eight years old at this point and Santander informed me that I still owe 10,230 dollars on this car that isn't even worth 5,000 dollars!!! In October, I paid 350 dollars on my car. I had fallen behind earlier in the year and asked for another extension, they told me that I could do that but then I never heard anything again.
For an unrelated reason, I have recently had to take a medical leave from work. I went out yesterday to get into my car, and I'm standing in my driveway looking at an empty spot where my car used to sit. There are drag marks in my driveway, tire marks through mine and my neighbor's lawn, and no sign of my car. I started sobbing and called the police. They asked if it was possible that it had been repossessed. I said no, I had just made a payment! When I called Santander, they said they had repossessed it and they had called me several times to let me know.
I can put my hand on a bible and swear on the life of my own mother that I did not receive a call from them, no letters, no voicemails to indicated that they were going to take my car away this month. They offered to give it back to me for $590 dollars, and to give me a two month extension. I told them to shove it, they have screwed me on that car since day one and now my credit is ruined from a repossession on my record. PLEASE take my advice, never deal with them, no matter what your circumstances. I am basically ruined because of my decision to trust Santander with my car loan. DO NOT DO IT. I cannot stress that enough.

Due to bad credit after my divorce I was forced to use Santander for an auto loan. My credit has since come up and I was able to pay off my loan. When they were overpaid by $862 they conveniently applied the payout to two months future payment and refused to refund my money. They stated they only owe me a hundred and sixty something dollars. I asked for detailed accounting. It clearly shows where they applied in October and November payment even though the vehicle was paid off in September. But when I speak to them on the phone they claim this is not the case. Yet this is what I clearly show on paper that they themselves sent me.

Now on October 21, 2016 I spoke with Ricky ** who advised that he only pulled one phone call from a representative that I spoke with by the name of Ramona. I do not feel that he did his job which is to pull every call from August 10th regarding my repossession. I even offered to send in my handwritten notes of the call on August 10th. Santander Consumer calls me everyday and harasses me. I just lost my job on July 8, 2016. Today after the insurance company and myself talked with Chrysler Capital on October 13, 2016 trying to verify what is on the title so the power of attorney form can be signed correctly, 2 different people told us only our first and last name was on the title.
So today thinking my claim will finally be closed Geico inform me that Chrysler lied and didn't take the time to look at the title because our middle initial is on the title and now we have to sign another form and wait another day because of those unprofessional people. They don't hesitate to call and worry you about a car payment but now that the loan is getting paid off they don't care about the money. I don't care how desperate I am. I have dealt with many different banks but I must say this bank is a joke. Sadly, I have to say that this bank offers nothing but unprofessional, impolite and the worst service that anyone one can get. I have visited this bank for the past 3 months and I had an incident that took place today. A teller named Catherine who seemed to be an ** background with the worst attitude helped me deposit my money. She didn't only have the weakest personality but was uncivilized to treat her customers. She confirmed my deposits and after I had asked her to give me changes, she accused me of giving her a $100 counterfeit bill. I had clearly remembered that I had given the new $100 bill. She somehow swapped the bill indoor to put it in her pocket. The manager tried to escalate the situation but she didn't even have any knowledge of whether the bill was counterfeit or not.
I urged both of them to watch the cameras and let me know if I had given her the money and they claimed that it would take time to find the footage. I clearly told them that if I had given that money then I would take the responsibility and would apologize but they didn't have the system to check the cameras. I have been coming to this branch for 3 months and almost all the employees know me and I had no problems besides this ** girl full of arrogance with a dull personality. They took 2 hours to figure out that the bill was not counterfeit rather it was original. The manager had no idea how to check a counterfeit bill. I told her that when you mark a bill it would give the color black if it's a counterfeit bill. She had to call an employee who was on a vacation to confirm.
This branch is a joke where people with no intelligence is hired and work for nothing good. I would never go back rather would withdraw and switch to a different bank. They not only wasted my time but was not apologetic. I hope that ** girl who's zero intelligence is fired from her position. While the manager was double checking the money, she was chewing her snack and using her phone when there was a line waiting to be helped. I would kindly urge you guys to find a better branch or even a better bank than this.

So in Apr 2015, I traded in my 2014 4Dr Rubicon for a 2015 2Dr Hard Rock Edition. LOVE my Jeeps. Dealt with a great dealership, no issues there. They got me in the Jeep for a HUGE monthly payment, but I was told to email a copy of my active duty service commitment forms, and they would reduce my rate to 6% and drop my payments in half. So I call Chrysler Capital once my first payment is due. They tell me I have to have a set of Temp Duty orders or PCS orders in order to show them I'm active duty. And then tell me NOT to make a payment because once the orders go through, I won't have a payment for 60 days. So, I don't make a payment, sit and wait... and lo and behold, they don't reduce my rate, and come up with you have to have a set of deployment orders, and you have to have NOT be in the military before your contract... So I read their website, which specifically states PCS orders are an acceptable document for proof of active duty service.
So I try again... Send in a copy of my PCS orders, and again get told not to make a payment, 60 days BS... Oh by the way, they reported my 60 days late payment to the credit bureaus... And again, they deny my PCS orders. I finally called them to talk to a manager, and he tells me the same thing, that I need TDY or deployment orders. NOWHERE ON THE WEBSITE UNDER THESE BENEFITS DOES IT SAY ORDERS FOR DEPLOYMENT OR SPECIAL OPERATIONS!!! PCS ORDERS ARE ACCEPTABLE!!! Either change your damn website, or give me my 6% rate for my 28 deployments and 20 years of military service!!! And oh, now I'm trying to get another car for my spouse, and they won't fix the credit bureaus late payments report... I LOVE Santander. They gave me my special interest rate for active duty military, but their sister company, Chrysler capital can suck it. Once I get my credit fixed, bye Felicia!

Whoa! Is this legal? After reading the horror stories about the infamous Santander Consumer USA, I thought I would share mine. It is my sincere hope that this post helps one person to avoid potential destruction. I purchased my vehicle 11/2010 and the loan was set to mature October 15, 2016. Guess what? It will not. My car note is set to be paid off, 2018. Why? In the ignorance of making payments and blindly thinking that my payments were being applied to the principal; investigation reveals that I have paid $16,000 plus on the interest and $3200 has been applied to the principal. This is on a vehicle that was supposedly financed for $12,000.00. Oh, and let me add, that over $7,000 in repairs, a new transmission, everything under the hood has been replaced and all power window motors have been replaced.
I IMPLORE AND BEG anyone who is purchasing a vehicle and Santander is mentioned as the company with which the loan will be financed thru, to "RUN, DO NOT WALK" out the door! Tell the salesperson to consider other options or let you take the paperwork to a bank or credit union for a loan officer to review. DO NOT SIGN, anything. There are options, PLEASE do not get blindly LOCKED into a loan with Santander.
What has been considered legal by our government to allow Santander to operate in such a "scheming and diabolical" business manner is wrong. This bothered me so much that I contacted the Attorney General's office and they have requested that I submit my paperwork for this loan. This company seems to prey on the seemingly not credit worthy of society. To be allowed to operate in such a manner makes the words of truth written a long time ago in the Bible, "man has dominated man to his harm" (Ecclesiastes 8:9).

They agreed to lower my payment, but has not complied with their own letter. 5 days after the payment is due, 7 days after a phone call pointing out I do not owe what their system says. Yesterday I received a letter that I am 45 days past due (I'm not). Instead of paying them (my only creditor that I was using to rebuild my credit), I think I will file bankruptcy, or move forward with disputing them any way I can. 2 years left of payments on a car I don't have (I did not cause the accident), and they are ruining my credit, so I cannot buy a house. Today, I am informing you that my situation has worsened; now I no longer have my car, used to earn a living as a driver, have no credit and lost my job; additionally, will have to leave my house. As of today, since I no longer can afford to pay the rent; all these unfortunate events caused by Santander, and I have no idea what else can I do under this circumstances.
I am truly desperate due to a situation caused by the negligence of Santander; how could it be possible that I am involved in this situation, which I did not caused, through no fault of my own; and no one seems to care or do something about it; I don't have the means or resources to defend myself or hire an attorney; Santander stated that they would resolve this problem, but instead they came and took my card, my only means of income, and I lost all the monies paid, even the initial downpayment on the car. On my initial letter of complaint I informed that: I make a living as a driver, which is my sole source of income and on March 20th, 2016, I was involved in an automobile accident; and I took my car to EXPERT COLLISION & WHEELS CORP, which is an approved auto repair service provider by my insurance company.
This collision repair company finished repairing my car a couple of weeks later and the insurance company sent a check to my home address for final payment to the auto repair company, which had to be endorsed by me and Santander. I immediately proceeded to send the check to Santander for its endorsement and prompt payment to EXPERT COLLISION & WHEELS CORP.
Santander failed to endorse and send the corresponding payment check to this auto repair company in due time; and Santander's lack of response is what has led to this unfortunate situation, that caused damage and harm to my family's well-being by sequestering my only source of income and placing my family in financial hardship. I am very frustrated and concerned to say the least; I expected a much higher level of service from Santander's organization; and trust that this letter of complaint is useful to your Agency to assist in solving this unfortunate situation with Santander. Thanking you in advance for your valued support on this matter.

So for the past year and a half I have been battling with Santander over my car payment. They keep telling me that I am behind but cannot send me a statement or any papers showing when and how I got behind. So for a year I had to call them to make my car payment over the phone which cost me $14.95 to do this. After a year of paying this fee I decided to mail the payment in to them. On each check was a bright sticky post-it with my name, phone number, DOB and last 4 of my SS# so that my payment got posted to the correct account. Along with all this info was also a request for a statement to be mailed to me.
So its been almost 2 years and I still have no paper statement with my balance. So last night when I got home from work a flatbed pulled in my driveway to repo my car. Said I was $1400 behind and he had to take it. I called Santander and they told me I was $2400 behind. I told her that the repo company said $1400 and she stated that it was $1000 in late fees. So we "chatted" back and forth about why it was so high. Even told her that I had not gotten a statement in the mail in almost 2 years. She checked on it and said it was flagged in the computer that it was not a good address and had came back. Don't know how many times it came back because she didnt share that info with me. I told her that I get my electric, gas, phone, cable, insurance and water bills at that address every month. I even asked where my letter was saying that they were going to repo my car and again she said it wasn't a good address.
So I am suppose to have a ton of late fees, a repo letter that never made it to me and statements that never made it to my address. She told me to check with my post office to see why they are not delivering my mail from Santander. I guess the post office goes thru my mail every month and picks out the Santander bill and sends it back according to the representative at Santander. What a JOKE. Every month when I mail a check to them I get an email saying my statement is ready but I cannot login to my account with them because I do not have an account and cannot set up one without my account number which they also will not give to me over the phone. They say they will mail it to me or email it to me. I have never got my account number via mail and cannot log into email without a password or account number. They just do not understand.
So here I sit with no car, no statement in almost 2 years and NO repo letter. I would never ever use Santander as a finance company. If you can finance somewhere else DO IT. They have cost me a fortune with "late fees, repo fees and the repo service fees" plus the past due they say I owe but cannot show it to me. I am very unhappy and am looking to see what I can do legally to take care of this ongoing matter.

I got a loan through Santander for a 2013 Chrysler. Last year I started having health issues and I was out of work on Short-Term disability. I did not have any income. I got behind. Long story short I asked what I needed to pay to get caught up. I paid over 1,500 and the very next day collection calls started again. I received the wrong information. I needed to pay more in order to catch up. I had already spent the money taking care of other bills. If given the right information I could have taken care of the delinquent balance. Getting the wrong information seems to be a trend with Santander. Fast Forward I was never able to catch up. I asked if they could refinance, defer a few payments so I could start fresh... nothing. I asked if I could drop off the car the representative said they didn't have a drop off location, that I would be notified about a pickup and I could meet the repo guy elsewhere other than my residence. That did not happen.
The repo company felt as if they needed to wait until 2 AM in order to repo the car. The driver was a complete jerk. I was trying to get my stuff out of the car and he tried to block the door and kept wanting the key. I explained once I get my things you can have the key. I am just trying to unlock the door. That turned into a bad experience. My neighbor even got involved.
Santander has ridiculous rates, you can never get correct information from them and they are dishonest about their collection practices. Not everyone wants to hide a car or fight the repo guy. I think more could have been done to help me keep the vehicle. When I was out of work they could help. When I went back to work there was nothing they can do. They definitely need better customer service and collection practices. Even as it pertains to getting my car back I got two different answers. One representative said I had 3 days to get it back, the other said I had until the 15th of the month. Legally they are supposed to notify you of their intent within 2 days by mail or phone. I'm like "No it's not, it paid off and I've requested my titled. Who sent you?" He said "Santander." I tell him my truck is not financed through this company. I ask for the paperwork. He said it just has a work order with my information. I ask, "Can you email it to me?" He said he can't. I ask for a card for his towing company, he don't have one. So basically I don't know where our truck got towed to. I go online to log into my account. The machine took the money with no problem but failed to disperse a paper statement reflecting a deposit of $500.00 cash. I immediately requested another statement for a balance inquiry. I then noticed that $500.00 was not even shown as a deposit. Got home and opened a case for missing funds. Santander opened a case and was told that there were no overages in the ATM. I believe that their security department has not looked into it enough. This Bank is horrible.

Actual payments after 2 years showed interest payments all over the place with only 10 out of 24 payments below $200 interest applied. I actually paid in advance the second month to get ahead of the game, and the following 2 months they applied the entire amount of my payment to interest only, even though no payments late. Not once until Dec 2014 did I have a late payment when we decided this was bull.
After our Jan 2015 payment (which was applied solely to interest due to the December missed payment) we decided to have them take the collateral to the loan and call it quits. It took them 3 months to come for the car (which we told them to come get and did not drive it during that time) and they sold it at auction. Though we paid them, over the course of 2 years, over $7,400 and they made $2000 at auction, they still want us to pay over $9000 more for an original loan amount of $11,819. Santander has done a profit and loss write-off to their accounts, but has still passed this on to a debt collector. This debt collector, NCB Management Services Incorporated, who is affiliated with Santander (NCB Management Services, Inc. secured a new senior credit facility from a four-bank syndicate led by Santander Bank in Feb 2015), is now attempting to collect that debt.
This junk debt buyer is attempting to collect debt that is inaccurate due to the mishandled interest payments and therefore violates federal law. "§ 808. Unfair practices. Unfair practices. A debt collector may not use unfair or unconscionable means to collect or attempt to collect any debt. Without limiting the general application of the foregoing, the following conduct is a violation of this section: (1) The collection of any amount (including any interest, fee, charge, or expense incidental to the principal obligation) unless such amount is expressly authorized by the agreement creating the debt or permitted by law."
All in all... over the 2 years in this loan, the actual amount they scammed me out of by paying the incorrect interest payments is only about $150... but it's the principle of the matter. After 6 years it would have been about $500 extra if they only played the same games (and from what I've read it can get worse instead of better). Imagine the thousands of loans they have and the amount of money they are scamming people out of every year by mishandling the application of interest paid. No one notices a dollar at a time, especially when you pay the same amount each month and their magic happens only in the fine detail that most don't bother to examine until it's too late... (Like me)... but multiply that times 100,000 loans and suddenly the amount is much different... and they do this EVERY MONTH!
I am contacting lawyers to see if what they have done is illegal (I can't see how it isn't) and I have written to my state's Attorney General and will fight this. This company has been mishandling people's loans for far too long and something needs to be done about it. Hopefully it will set a precedence which will help others with the same problem.

Santander is the absolute worst! We were behind on payments and then made a large payment with our tax refund and got back on track. Then noticed the balance after having the car over 2 years never went down more than 50 dollars and we pay 425 a month. Every penny we pay is ALWAYS applied to interest only and it shows that on our statements. We tried to trade it in and because we STILL owe 16,000 on it no dealership will touch it. So in March we stopped making payments and told them to come get it because they weren't willing to restructure the loan or do anything to help us. And I felt like we were never going to pay it off and our 425 a month was basically to rent the vehicle.
Well here it is July and the car still sits out there. No one has picked it up. We are not driving it and it's just been waiting to be repossessed. However they do call 10 times a day and we have told them several times to come get it. Finally we have stopped answering the calls and hopefully someone picks it up soon. We are prepared to deal with whatever comes our way with this because they just rob people and scam money and continue to add fees and nothing goes towards principal. If someone ever offers you financing through Santander you need to RUN no matter how badly you need a car. I promise you they are not worth it.

We purchased the vehicle on the 7th of May and the dealer (a large, reputable dealer, not some fly by night place) cut a check on the 8th for the payoff amount (they provide us and Santander copies of the check). As soon as the due date of the account passed, Santander started calling. 7-8 times per day. We were stumped. We no longer had the vehicle. We called Santander and told them that we had traded the vehicle in. Santander stated that we needed to have the dealer call them. We offered to give them the dealer’s number because we had already given the dealer a POA to take care of it and that is who they should be contacting regarding payment. They refused and claimed that they couldn't call out. ??? How are they calling us 20 times a day if they can't call out?
We contacted the dealer, who showed us copies of the check, who agreed to cancel the other check and send another. They sent another check on the 1st of June, which they provided us a copy of. 8 days later we receive a notice from Santander that we are in default and need to pay X amount within 72 hours or they will pursue collection of the entire amount. Sat in on a three way call with the dealer and Santander representative to try and rectify the situation. Santander representative was unwilling to accept any offer or provide any information for the dealer to wire or electronically transfer the money and stated that they would only accept mailed checks. Dealer claimed that this was how they work things. They will refuse payoff as long as possible in order to collect as many fees and charges possible. Luckily we've documented everything and will be pursuing legal action along with the dealer.

She had a difficult time even comprehending the needs of my business account and just kept repeating herself about a promotional account they were offering that came with a $100 beginning balance. I kindly explained to her that I could care less about the promotional account and was looking for something more conducive to a business. She then started going over the terms of other types of account, and it was then that I realized she was half illiterate!! She couldn't read or pronounce half of the terms and conditions that she was trying to convey to me.
Trying to make light of the situation, I jokingly smiled and asked her where she got her degree. The woman I was about to trust with handling my finances and investments had no more education than a high school diploma and no more understanding of finance than a golden retriever. I politely declined opening an account there and left. I did a little research and learned that hiring under qualified personal bankers is Santander's MO because they can pay them half of what they pay qualified financial assistants. The next 4 months my payments were on time, then I received a letter in the mail stating that I owe late fees that was not paid from the time I was behind. So I call the company and ask why I was charged late fee, when I asked what I owed to get current, why 4 months later? I was told that whoever I spoke with at the time I paid the full amount, did not give me the correct amount owed. I ask Santander to send me a print of my payment history and when this late fee really all started. From there on it became threats, harassments, and rude calls at my employment and at home.
I still paid my monthly payments each month, while they were calling for the late fee, then Santander started adding late fee to the supposed late fee. Which just became out of hand. My supervisor then brings me in regarding these rude calls the Santander was making every day sometime 3 times a day. Then the Santander threaten me to take me to court and get the vehicle back. I called my own bank who informed me there was no problem with the name my bother provided and that they had no record or knowledge of any money being wired to my account.
After 4 weeks of my brother going to his bank to ask what was going on, they finally said, "Good news - we have managed to retrieve your money - minus 200 dollars, which is what your sister's bank charged us to send the wire back." My brother had not recourse to argue as the money has already been taken from his account!! When I contacted my bank, they were absolutely appalled and said that under no circumstances would this charge have been made. Santander banks are a scam. They are NOT to be trusted. BUYER BEWARE. REPEAT - BEWARE!!!

I called into Santander to see about viewing both my Traditional and Roth IRA Accounts. When I called into Customer Care, I was handed off to two different advisors, neither of whom knew how to make visible both my Traditional and Roth IRA Accounts online. After waiting for over a half hour on the phone I was told to call the Investments number instead. When I called the Investments number, I was finally put in touch with someone who knew how to make both accounts available to me online. I then asked if I could set up automatic contributions to both accounts to which I was emailed the incorrect form for. Terrible customer service with incredibly long wait times. Not pleased at all that I made the switch from Fidelity to Santander.

What a JOKE! I had $57.76 left on my account after insurance settled up. Called to make payment and they tell me they cannot accept payment over the phone even though their statements clearly say they will. It's not like I am using a credit card or have a large balance to pay or have ever had any issues making payments. I just want to pay this tiny amount and make them go away! There are no branches in my state either. So the only option is to mail a check. I work in collections and if a client called me to pay on their account my management would FIRE ME if I told them I could not take it over the phone! This company is insane. I am glad the car is totalled. I will never do business anywhere them try to finance thru this bank. Bad business practices. Now I will write my $57.76 personal check, put a stamp on it and let snail mail get it to them in a week or so even though they could have had their payment today! BUYER BEWARE!

Unfortunately, my mortgage was sold to this bank without my consent. I pay my mortgage every month without fail. I even pay extra on the principal every month. I have never been late past the grace period. My payment is due the 1st, but I have until the 16th to get it there without penalty. This month I mailed my check out on the 7th. Unlike, most of my monthly bills, they won't let you pay your bill online, you have to mail it or have it automatically withdrawn. Today, I get an automated phone call from the bank, naming me and my wife by name and requesting that I enter my SSN to verify who I was.
Well, there was no way to know if this call was a scam, so I hung up and called the bank back with the number on my statement. Of course, I get the automated phone system, which requested that I enter my full SSN to even get started. I don't think entering my full SSN into an automated system is very secure. Then, I continued with the stupid phone prompts for over 4 minutes before I could even speak to a person. Come on people, this is my mortgage not Facebook, it shouldn't be this hard to speak to a person! The person I spoke with had a strong accent which I had trouble understanding. So, I told her that I mailed it on the 7th. Today is the 11th, they should have it. So, I'm sure it will "sit" somewhere until after the 16th so they can charge me a late fee. Be very, very careful if you have to deal with this bank. They are very shady and will use the system to suck as much money out of you as they can.

We took out a car loan in August 2007 of 18000.00. They didn't explain all those fees they add on your account even when it's on time. They add daily. They were very rude when you would inquire on the fees and keep saying "Well if you don't pay you will not get the title until you do." Well after 8 and a half years we still owed 5000 on that 18000 and paying 425.00 a month. When asked about where our title was they sent it to the wrong address and said if it was returned they would send it to us if not we would not get it. They were smart with me when I asked why they sent it to the wrong address that was changed over 2 years ago and our statements sure did come to the right address. They just said "There's nothing we can do" but when they keep adding all their fees they didn't have a problem finding the right address. This is a ripoff place and should have to repay every penny they stole from us and everyone else.

On January 11, 2016, I found out I was going to be out of work for a month due to a work related injury and it was going to be unpaid. On the 15th spoke to a lady named Audrey that was mentioning, "We are calling due to your account is 120 days past due..." I mentioned I called her and the reason was I had a work-related injury where the company isn't paying anything and I wanted to work out a payment arrangement. She advised, "I need to collect at least ____ by January 23rd." I advised, "I cannot guarantee that it will be in my account, but I will call if it is not." She advised ok and stated, "I will document everything down and just call if you have any difficulty. You qualify for a hardship February 1, 2016."
I advised I had help around September 2015, and didn't know if I qualified or not. Audrey advised "yes you do qualify, again call if you have any problems." Well the end of the 15th of January came and I called after finding out I would not have a check at that time. I called the 15th and talked with a gentleman at 9am. He advised, "I am so sorry about your work injury. The associate you previously spoke with documented nothing down and I will document it. I will need to speak with my boss. We should be able to stop payment. You will not qualify for hardship until March 1, 2016 and I am sorry she misinformed you."
I advised my nearest payment would have to be February 23, and IDK what the payment will be since I have been off work for a couple weeks. He advised, "We understand and have it documented down. Call us when you are paying." I advised I was going to pay by MoneyGram for now on due to the love-hate relationship those two have been doing on payments. The associate understood, documented and wished me a good day. Did not receive a call until February 5th to follow up the call I requested. I advised the woman again that I was just starting work, had been off for a month and will be paying on February 23, upon which the associate advised, "okay I have and see documentation...", apologized for the inconvenience and disconnected.
I then later that night got a call from a female associate stating I didn't call and need to make payment arrangements. I called again 9am Missouri time. I reached the same lady that left a message and she advised, "I see nothing documented down... You can't pay anything February 19th?" I advised she could set me up but won't guarantee anything since I was off due to a work-related injury unpaid, talked to other associates and made payment arrangements, and will probably not have a check until the 23rd of February and will continue paying unless or until I can file a hardship March 1, 2016. Associate advised "ma'am you don't qualify for a hardship until March 4, but I will document everything down and will not guarantee that we won't tow your car."
I started to advise her that I had again set up payment arrangements so you guys won't tow my car and the associate disconnected. I called on February 15 and told a female associate that I needed the payment moved to the 23rd and the associate advised, "I cannot move it, but I can cancel the payment for the 19th. I need you to make that payment on the 23rd of February and I will document everything down." February 19, payment posted and I called again. I was advised by another male associate, "My records show this payment was not cancelled and see no record of that call. I will document your payment by MoneyGram on the 23rd. Please call back before you make a payment to get required information." I advised okay.
I again called this time after work. This time a Jeremy ** answered. I asked how to submit my information, where I was advised again, "none of this was documented down and I do apologize, but I will do that right now... Your account number______ you send MoneyGram 1192, that is how to pay by MoneyGram." I cut the associate off and asked for a supervisor. The associate tried to de-escalate mentioning, "to pay what you can and just notify us of what you are paying and you will not have to file a hardship." I advised how many associates I spoke with and asked his name... Jeremy ** and Jeremy got his supervisor on the phone. I talked from a little after 9pm till almost 10pm mentioning what I said above.
The supervisor advised he did have everything documented and will document. My payment of... I advised biweekly what I can until July of 2016 unless I file a hardship because I need my car for work. The supervisor advised, "no hardship needed. Just notify us of your payment I will document biweekly of..." I advised I was going to try $500 payments but will tell you on MoneyGram or something if it is short. The supervisor advised okay... Then took a kudos I gave Jeremy for actually being the one in few to document.
I paid on the 23rd of February and got another call from a female associate advising she was calling to see when my next payment was going to be made. I advised I spoke to Jeremy and his supervisor and was going to pay biweekly and they would receive a payment of ____ March 12, 2016. The associate again advised she would document. I advised her I appreciate it and just don't want my car towed and want to pay them all they way current by the end of July of 2016. The associate again advised it was okay.
Now March 9, 2016 at midnight, the tow company advised Chrysler Capital sent them an email five days ago (when I spoke to the female and advised I was paying on the 11th) to tow the car. Now I have to miss work at Butterball, where right now we are short handed to call them... Which I emailed too to cover my butt. Plus the tow company is contacting them too. I also now can't sleep and had to tell Facebook due to work responds to it that I am missing work due to this. I need a lawyer or something. Santander Consumer Financed my vehicle in 2013. The loan first payment was scheduled for May 2013 for $299. In May and June of 2013, I sent in two separate payments of $300, totaling up to $600 per month through their IVR (interactive voice response system) which transfer you to Western Union, Speedpay services. After requesting for my payment history several times, I finally got one in November 2015. After review to discovered only $300 was applied to my account for both months.
Since, I had all my information including my email receipts from Santander, I filed a complaint with the company, whom called me the next day. I was able to explain the situation but received absolutely no assistance. I was informed that Santander Consumer DOES NOT honor their payment receipts. Thus stating, no further action would take place. My case was closed the very next day (Saturday) to be followed by a closed and charged off report to all three credit bureaus on that Monday.
Those missing payments caused a domino effect of issues for me. One to mention was a repossession, the vehicle was redeemed but was vandalized. (Claim was filed for that as well, with no resolution. I had to cover cost of repairs) Not to mention, the quantity of calls are ridiculous and excessive. I advise anyone whom may consider this company as a lender, reconsider!!! Also, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE READ AND LEARN YOUR RIGHTS!!! There are rights that protect consumers, educate yourselves and hire a lawyer!!! You will one dealing with Santander Consumer.

Let me just start by saying this is the worst consumer lending agency ever! I have never dealt with more incompetent people in my life. On December 20, 2015 my son was killed in the vehicle that Santander financed. On December 20, 2015 my insurance company notified them of his death and the vehicle was a total loss and requested a payoff balance. On January 15, 2016 Santander posted the check for the payoff but unfortunately the check was made out to the wrong company. Santander never informed me that the check was returned and reported this against my credit as being past due. I was never given the opportunity to make a payment until the new check arrived.
On February 2, 2016 I received a credit alert that a derogatory remark had been made against me. When I called Santander to find out what was going on, this is when I was told about the check. The insurance company called and requested a new payoff balance. They sent 2 checks in the same envelope. Here comes the interesting part. No human opens the mail and processes it. Its a computer system that opens the mail and scans whatever is inside the envelope and then attaches it to the correct account. The only problem is that when you send 2 checks in 1 envelope the system doesn't recognize the 2nd check and discards it. This is what a Santander Employee from the Office of the President told me.
So my insurance company issued them another check for the one that was missing. Would you know that first check cleared the bank the day Santander signed and received the 2nd check via FedEx. On March 3, 2016 I was told that they hadn't received that last check yet. I was told that there was a balance of 283.37 and that if I made a payment of 141.72 the remaining balance would be written off and that when they received the check for 742.58 from my insurance company they would refund all that back to me since I had made multiple payments while things were straightened out because of their mishap.
Turns out I never needed to make a payment because on February 29, 2016 they credited the first check for 742.58 that they told me they had shredded. Now Santander is going back on their promise. They are telling me that since the check was applied on the 29th the agreement of me paying 141.72 and writing off the remaining balance had been revoked. So basically they want to send me a check for 601.13 because they said the check was already posted so they should have never given me that deal. Santander must think Im a fool. This is nothing but creative bookkeeping. This is a way for them to draw interest off your money when they're not entitled to it.
As of today 3/8/2016 my payment history still does not reflect my credit card payment of 141.72 nor does it reflect the 742.58 check from my insurance company but the balance shows I owe nothing on the loan. I wanted to talk with a supervisor but like always they're never available. If Santander thinks they're going to get away with this they wont. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and the Banking Commissioners office in Texas and I am prepared to hire an attorney. I advise everyone that's had a problem with them to contact the banking commissioners office and let them review your account.
Santander also promised me that they would fight to remove this off my credit report since it was their fault for not calling or sending me anything explaining that this was past due because of the check error and not giving me the opportunity to make a payment. I have immaculate credit and in 30 plus years I have never had a single late payment on any credit card payment or loan. Santander also informed me that it takes 30 to 45 days to issue a refund. If they're going to hold on to my money that long then I should be entitled to the interest they're making off it since they had no right to the money in the first place. Like I said this is some very creative bookkeeping this company does and Im going to make sure there's a stop put to it. Please take my advice and look around for another lending company because this company will rip you off!

We had got a loan with santander because my boyfriend did not have any credit. We pay our payment every month on time, in fact early and even more than what we are supposed to pay. We have been trying to get the principal down so we can refinance to get a better rate. So this month I decide that I am going to send in an extra principal payment. Mind you that we have a 10.95 charge every time you make a payment and then I was told that you cannot make a principal payment over the phone that it needs to be sent in. So as a good customer I write my check out. I write my account # and put principal only on the check. I even write principal only on the slip and put it in the correct box on the stub. So when I go to check what my principal is, I see that they did not apply the funds to the principal. They posted it as a PAYMENT.
So I called the company on 2/22/16 and say, "Hey you need to fix this." The rep said, "It will take a day ma'am." So I am thinking ok, it will be fixed. So 2/23/16 I check still isn't done. So I call back. Then I get told, "I'm sorry it's going to take up to 72 hrs." UNACCEPTABLE! I did everything I was supposed to do besides walk it from GA to TX. Really? So 2/24/16 I still do not see it's completed. I call back again. At this point I am highly escalated. I am wanting to make a complaint, I am speaking with managers that just don't care. I get over to the so called "president's office" and that is a joke too. Still nothing. I get told by a person at the president's office, "I will call you back today." Was I really expecting her to call back? Nope. If I held my breathe I probably would be dead right now.
I go to called and spoke with a mgr last night at the call center and she advised that it was completed and when I wake up my acct will be fixed. I was like, "Really? Can it be they actually gave me my money back that they stole?" So now it is 2/25/16 and they still have not fixed my acct. I am livid!!! I call the call center again and I am told the request was just submitted on 2/24/16. Ummm what happened to Monday??? What happened to it being fixed last night? ALL LIES!!! So yes I did tell the rep, "I want the money you stole from me." She said, "Ma'am we did not steal the money, we applied it wrong." No matter how you spin it, you stole it. I wrote principal only and you took some of my principal money for interest. THAT IS STEALING! I speak with a so called supervisor alexia ** in Barbados had the audacity to tell me she is "catering" to me. WTF. That was a supervisor. I just want my money back.
I speak with Zac in the president's office, no help. Joe the so called manager who will not transfer me to his boss was no help. At this point I am not sure what I can do. I do know I am so sick and tired of these lying no good thieves! When I was talking to Zac I asked him who the president was. He said Jason ** was one of the presidents. I said I guess what you read on the internet is true. Like that 9.35 MILLION Dollar lawsuit. His response was "well that happens in a large company." WTF. I work for a large company and that does not happen!.
Buyers beware! No matter how bad you want that car, if they offer santander do NOT do it. When I go back to the dealer to trade my car in hopefully next month I will tell the dealer if you value your clients and want them to keep coming back DO NOT OFFER THEM SANTANDER!!! I purchased a used 2012 Hyundai Elantra for $11,999. I was also forced to purchase an extended warranty for $2500.00. I put down $6500.00 on the car. Total due was about $16,500. 2 years and 4 months later I still owe $16,500 unless I pay in full, then it's over $18,600. 24 payments of $461.97 were applied to interest only. Nothing went to principal. Add the $10.95 convenience fee they charge to make a payment no matter how you pay unless you mail it. Then they post it late, charge you late fees and charge you interest daily, not annually. There is no way this car will ever be paid off no matter what I do. The car got repo and it cost $1200 and 10 days to get back.
One week later the calls started that I still owed $1500 in interest. Don't send partial payments. They don't apply them. Wanted my $2500 back for the extended warranty because warranty from Hyundai was still active. Said to contact warranty company. Guess what? Santander owns the warranty company and they refused to refund any of it. It wasn't worth the paper its written on. I filed a complaint today with Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
I was injured at work in June and put out on comp. Notified them in writing about the hardship and sent proof. Won't take a lien on settlement. Won't suspend, modify or refinance the loan. They don't refinance. Not what I was told at the dealership. Was told I could refi after 6 months of on-time payments. They report me 60 to 90 days late every month. I made 2 payments in 1 week. They called looking for money. When I told them the dates and confirmation numbers, they could only locate 1 of the payments. I even complained to the president's office. Nothing changed. Nothing was done.
PLEASE FILE A COMPLAINT WITH CONSUMER FINANCE PROTECTION BUREAU. The more complaints, they get the better. They can fine them and shut them down, even force them to give us our money back and keep our cars. I pay more for this car than I did 10 years ago for a brand-new Mercedes. The book value on my car is under $8000. I'd be lucky to get $1500 with a trade-in and because of the payoff amount, I wouldn't be able to trade it in anyway. This loan is designed to fail. They get the money and they take the car. Stay away from this bank!

He said to take out my money from pnc and he wanted me to turn in my 401k. I foolishly did the first part but the dr. I work for would not let me sell the 401k, thank god. He wanted to know everything I had and of course I trusted him. I talked about the stocks I had at home with at&t and my mother's stock. He said he would go over them for me and see if there was any value. I brought them in and that was the end of that. He left the company and took everything with him.
Next I went to the bank last week to cash a 340 dollar check and I am 100 short. The teller was abrupt and when she send the envelope back she did not even say have a nice day. Now I have no proof she took the 100 but I just took it today and counted it and I have 240 all in tens. We had sovereign bank since 1965 and when santander took over we just trusted them. I am at a loss and I don't know what to do. All I want is the stock back and keep the 100 dollars but rest assured I will close my accts. there.
PS I have a loan there for a roof and I have been paying it off monthly. I have lost money in polaris and the money I lost could Have paid off the roof loan. Now a joseph tell me "at the end of the year you will make up that money by approx. 5,000." I want out and just put it in a money market. He also said jack was wrong to give me this annuity as I am 81 years old now. Help!

They've stolen my money twice ($2,800) and cancelled my credit card twice without explanation or apology. On December 2015, Santander deducted $605 from my bank account without prior notification. After discovering this online, I immediately called the number associated with customer service. They provided me no information and said that the office was closed. (It was a Saturday.) I then called the following Monday. Customer service could not "reach" adjustment services to determine why the money was deducted. There is "no way" for customer service to leave a message, they said. I called on Monday and I was informed that a prior check that I'd deposited had already been deposited in another account. This made no sense. They said, basically that that was now my problem and I needed to resolve the issue with the "maker of the check." I did. It was a mistake on the part of the maker's bank. The money was returned.
WHY did Santander just TAKE their customer's money without first trying to figure out what had happened. TODAY, I check my balance online - Adjustment services has stolen $2180. I call customer service. They say, adjustment services is closed. Call back on Tuesday, since Monday is a holiday. Never notified. I have NO transactions that would relate to this $2,180. NONE. Another error, and I PAY. They also twice cancelled my credit card for suspected fraud - once was fraud, once was not, but NEVER ALERTED ME THAT THE CARD HAD BEEN CANCELLED. I was in a cab in NYC, it was raining and I had NO WAY to pay! On Tuesday, I will get my money back AND change banks for good. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE OF ANY PLACE I HAVE EVER DONE BUSINESS WITH. Awful. Thieves.

We were told by Santander if we sent it in before a certain time it would not go on my husband's credit report. We hurried borrowed the money to pay it off and THEY STILL PUT IT ON HIS CREDIT REPORT!!! Went to the BBB. Santander responded back with a excuse they had nothing to do with it which is a lie. Car repo due to incorrect information provided to me. Called to get car back. Paid the money but was never told that I could not get the vehicle that day. Paper process can take up to one day. Given wrong amount for the storage fee, and to top it off, the so-called local storage was an hour away with no weekend hours. I had to call them 4 times and received different information each time.
I asked for the manager to complain about the need for these no-good workers to be retrained and his talk sounded like Boo Boo the Fool, with empty apologies. Now I see they have been playing people for years and still in business. I am so disappointed and due to the daily late fees, the damn loan is so upside down. You can't believe a word they say. It is so disappointing. But this is the world we live in now, no integrity.

I bought a new Kia last year, and my note was immediately sold to Santander Consumer USA. Kia North America had my information wrong to begin with, wrong last name (prior prior marriage), and when I called Kia to set up auto draft payments, it took them hours to find where my loan went. Santander had also (strangely enough) complete wrong information about me, so they did not deduct my first payment. When I called, they got it corrected, and informed me that I could only change my payment date once, to when I replied that I never had a payment date to begin with.
I wrote long letters to Kia North America and Santander and got a response from Kia. Don't know why my note was sold to a sub prime lender to begin with, it was set up at 8% and not bad credit. So far, no problems, but I hate the frigging Kia Soul, it sucks, so I was going to go for trading and staying with Santander - HOWEVER after seeing so many bad reviews, I think absolutely NOT. What really surprises me is Santander's ridiculously ugly responses to some of these peoples' complaints! Talk about unprofessional, that alone is enough to scare anyone off! At the restaurant where I work, we use a pen that is supposed to turn black, but apparently the bills need to pass a light test now. I asked if they could provide me with something to give to my employer. They gave me a photocopy of the bill.
There should be outlined procedures and instructions for how to properly check money, and contact information for the bank, not a smudgy copy of a bill. When I asked how to prove where the money came from, the teller rolled her eyes at me. Very upsetting to a person who just lost a couple of days' wages. But yay for her for covering her own butt.

My first loan wasn't too bad. However, this second loan has been a nightmare. I purchased a 2010 Mini Cooper for another one of my sons as I had co-signed for the first loan as well. On Dec. 11, 2015, I was informed via text that the car had been impounded due to son's license suspended. I contacted Santander informing them of the situation, giving location of car and that I was doing a willful repo. I explained I was removing insurance and tags so Santander could go pick up the car at will from impound lot at which Santander employee confirmed and told me "OK fine".
Over the next week, I got 3 more phone calls from Santander employee's asking me to make payment on the car. Again I repeated the same information each time and again AT NO TIME did any of these Santander employees tell me I needed to get car out of impound lot first. On the 4th call, about 10 days later, the employee told me (after I again explained situation and previous conversations with the other Santander employees) well you need to get the car out of impound then we will come get it. I again informed her "THERE'S NO INSURANCE OR TAGS" on it anymore. I'm certainly NOT going to drive it illegally. At which time she said again I needed to take it out of impound.
Santander refuses to take responsibility for failing to properly inform me of what I needed to do the first day I contacted them, the 2nd day, and the 3rd day even when I told them I've never had this happen and I didn't know what to do. They still failed to tell me I needed to get the car out, they kept telling me "Ok fine". Now that the car payments are 2 months behind and towing fees upwards of $600.00 plus late fees, Santander expects me to pay over $1,200. Had the first employee told me the first day I contacted Santander, I would've only had to paid $177. Now the car is going up for auction Jan. 18, 2016 by towing company. I have no idea what happens then, but I did lodge complaint with BBB already trying to get resolve.
As for the first loan, my other son who's military was out in field training for 3 months and had no idea the bill pay. Company had closed his acct. When he came back, his Santander acct. was a mess and he was looking at so much late fees it seemed impossible for him to get it straightened out, but he got caught up and got out from under Santander by refinancing car for 1/2 the interest rate Santander charged and paid Santander off after having loan for about 18 months.

I've had a car loan thru them since 2013. The first few months went smooth or so I thought. Initially I was told there was a 10 day grace period before late fees occurred. Pending what day of the week due date vs pay day was may be a day or two into grace period. Told it by email in advance that would be the case. Advised that was fine. However after a few months of additional charges saw late fees added. I called customer service and they informed me 13 dollars a day is assessed after date payment was due. I was also told when I initially getting loan I could refinance later once 6 months was paid on time. When I tried to refinance was told they don't refinance and what you pay is what you pay. This car payment is more than my house payment and they are not willing to help in any way...
BTW the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU has over 1800 complaints on them. All of the ones I read on here need to be entered there too. This will put them well over 3000 complaints. Also there is a Dept of Justice letter out there where they had to pay service men and women millions for repossession of cars while on active duty. You should check that out if you are one. That to me sums up this company in a nutshell. Please consider filing with the BBB.

The other is I have complained several times to Santander that they are not charging 18%. And they assured me it's 18% annually. I can see now that is not true. The loan started at just under 21K and 32 months later after paying $456.00 each month it's now $16,360.00 for payoff when that's what it was 10 months ago.
They wrote me when I asked for payment history and they said they are charging me a daily rate not annually yet my contract says annually (not at a rate of the unbalance). The loan was for 72 months and that is completed in 2019. However based on what I have paid and sent that will never happen at the rate they are charging interests. I ran into financial problems in 2013 due to losing my job and feel about 30 days behind on the payments. I recently looked at a statement from Santander and after making 22 payments totaling about $10,000.00, not a single penny was applied to the principle, it's straight interest when you are behind.

My husband and I bought a car with a loan from Santander in October of 2014. We paid on the loan religiously. In February of 2015, my husband's car was repossessed while he was at work. He called the company and explained the car was on the truck and wanted to know what it would take to keep the car. Santander said if we paid $250 we would get our car back. So we paid $250. Then they called my husband a liar, saying he never told them the car was already on the tow truck. They said it would take another $500. So we paid. Then they said it would take another $1000. So we paid again. By the time we got the payments through, the car had been towed, and the tow company was closed so we couldn't get our car back until after the weekend.
We waited til Monday, paid $150 to get the car back. By this time, we had reviewed our payments and found out we HAD been paying. So we also called Santander. They told us they had messed up our account with another account and all the money we paid would be applied towards our balance on the loan. We wouldn't have to make a payment on our car until June. Also, the car had been towed incorrectly and now has transmission problems. So we started making payments again in June. Now, it's October, they are claiming again that we haven't been paying on the loan. I called again, to be told that we owe anywhere from $1300 to $1900 depending on who I talk to. I asked if our account was mixed up again. They have no record of that ever happening. They also have no record of the total of $1750 we spent to get the car back plus the $150 we were supposed to be reimbursed.
They refuse to fix the transmission issues they caused by illegally towing the car (incorrectly towing the car). During all of this, they sent us 1 piece of mail. Their records show it was dated for May 19, 2015, and was no longer valid after June 1, 2015. The letter I got, last week, was dated for June 29, 2015. My husband and I have never gotten any kind of mail (statements or notices) nor have we had any phone calls trying to contact us on any of these matters. Basically, they STOLE almost $2000 dollars from us. They are now attempting to do the same thing.
I am writing this review in the hopes someone will read it and avoid this company. They have been nothing but rude and hateful. They are unwilling to help. They will not tell me why I have one piece of mail from them that took 5 months to get to me. They will not tell me why there is no record of our payments. I did lose my job in 2011, and I had to do some deferments and that was the worst mistake ever!!! I paid on time for a year and half after I found a job, but not one cent went towards my principal. I have tried trading in and refinancing my car now that I have decent credit. I owe too much for them even to consider plus the car is only worth 1500 if that. It is still in good shape, but worth nothing. I don't know how this car will be paid off at maturity. I'm ready to just give it back, but I know that will make things worst. I have to just stick it out and pray that I am able to start paying more to get this paid off!! I'm never financing another car after this is over.

My bank card recently expired on the month of expiration the card stopped working. So I called the bank and asked them to send me a new card and I also verified my address with the rep. I waited two weeks and still no card. I went to the local branch verified my address again and they reissued my card because it was sent to the wrong place. So I waited patiently, remind you! Santander does not do temporary debit cards. So you can imagine how frustrating it is not having access to your funds. Two weeks later I called the call center and they told me I had to wait a total of 10 business days and it should be there tomorrow. I still didn't receive my card, I went back to the bank because I still have yet to receive my card. The woman looked over the account at the branch and realized the idiots who placed my order for a new card, never updated my address. I'm livid at this point 4 weeks in and still no card.
So I had to wait another 10 days for my card. I check the mail this morning and still no bank card so I called Santander and the only solution they had was the same solution which was sending me another card instead of sending to a local branch where I can pick up my card. Tonight I came home and I was so happy to have received my card until I went to activate it. I spoke with someone inactivation. She said that because they are issuing me another card that I could not activate this. So this is now 6 weeks in and my fourth request for a bank card. I was livid so she had transferred me to Louise employee ID ** who was very rude. Kept talking over me and my fiance the whole time. Rule number 1 in customer service when you are dealing with an irate customer the least you want to do is add fuel to the fire. But nope she didn't care she even had the audacity to place us on hold when we were complaining to her about Santander screwing up.
We finally got aggravated and asked to speak with a supervisor. Here we are 10 minutes on hold again and she came back on the line said she didn't have one avail and supervisor Is first come first serve. She was very snippy and I understand dealing with upset customers aren't easy but if your company screws up be prepared to answer for it. I asked to have a supervisor call me back because I'm exhausted at this point and their mistake only affect 1 person and that's me. It was 7:30 and still no dinner yet. So I asked that the supervisor call me back and she told me I won't get a call until tomorrow. I was very upset so I told her they better call me tonight or I will make sure I place every bad review online. Her response was, "Uh huh! Yup! Yup!". Very snippy.
So she asked if there was anything. I asked my fiance, "Did she have anything else to say?" And my fiance said, "What's the point? It's not like she's listening to us anyways." And guess what Louise did, she hung up. I'm upset they would send my card to the wrong place. There is no security in that. And I'm upset. I spoke with two managers, went to the bank several of time, called the call center several of time and still no result. I will be opening a new account at another bank this Saturday and once I start receiving direct deposit to my new bank I will cancel Santander. They are a horrible establishment for a bank.

I have brought my 2014 Chrysler 300 in Los Angeles CA. I failed to make my payments for 3 months. One day on February, I went downstairs of my apartment building and found out that my car was gone.... So I called to the Chrysler Capital to find out what's going on. First they asked me if I'm calling to make a payment then after I told them that the car has disappeared they told me that there was a repo on the car and it was put on the day before the car came out missing. Anyway, I ended up paying $2400 to get the car out.
When I went to get the car from their storage the tire of the car was flat and there was dent on the right rear fender. I called the Chrysler Capital and told them about the dent so they gave me this third party name called American Recovery systems with the toll free 866 number. After I talk to them, they gave me their claim department number which no one answered the phone or returned my calls. I called the Chrysler Capital and told them that nobody was able to fix the damages of my car and their reply was that they can't help me.
After 4 months of making my payments on the car, I decided to file an Affidavit demanding them to provide the original creditors names and the addresses based on 15 U.S.C. Sec.1692(e)(f)(g) with my wet ink signature on the contract and gave them 20 day to reply my Affidavit with their point for point Affidavit as a reply they then send me the copies of the contract. I sent them the second Affidavit demanding the same and gave them an additional 10 days. As respond they sent me the same copies of the contract.
Anyway, I changed my address and removed all the low jacks of the car. They start calling and threatening me. They even call me from the private investigation department called SB Investigations. I gave them a verbal notice that if they keep calling me that will be considered as an harassment. So they are violating all the Federal Laws and fair Credit report Act while the account was written off as a bad debt they are still trying to get the money or the property (car). I want that all of you to be advised that CC is a part of the Santander consumers USA which currently is under investigation by the Federal Government and there is an class action lawsuit against them. In 2012 I traded my 1999 for a 2011 Chevy Malibu through a local auto dealer who placed me with Capital One Auto Loans. In 2013 trying to save a few bucks I applied for a slightly cheaper interest rate (21% from 23% - yes I have bad credit thanks to a divorce). I signed on the dotted line like everyone else I am sure - I didn't read the fine print (in particular the 2 pages of super fine print entitled additional terms and conditions). All I saw was a few dollars saved - that was my first misconception with this outfit. Had Santander laid out their SIMPLE INTEREST crap (ie: the fact that they charge a per diem for every day late along with compounding interest on a daily basis, etc.) I would never have left Santander. But as a single mom who was trying to save a few dollars, well I was taken advantage of!
Fast forward to 2014. I try to trade in the car for a slightly bigger car now that I have made payments each month but find out I have negative equity? What the hell? So I forget about until this past summer when once again I try to trade up but cannot - my credit is fine but there is like 6000 negative equity? How is that possible when a simple interest amortization schedule says that at this point in the game at 21% interest, 72 months and a starting balance of $14,573 for a 2011 Chevy Malibu should be right about $10,000. But wait my pay off balance is $13,753? What? So I get on the computer and their chat room and have a conversation with their representatives?
One I want a solid copy of my HANDWRITTEN CONTRACT! You guessed it to this day, I still have yet to receive one - they sent me on one occasion a copy of a payment history pdf and on the other three times they faxed to me the 2 pages of fine print additional terms and conditions. I started asking questions to which NINFA replied "you SIGNED a Contract for simple interest" blah blah blah. Yes that is true I did but where did it show at the time that this was simple interest at 21% but if you are 5 minutes late you will be charged up the ass. My first payment was on time and they still took some 75 percent of the payment to interest and the rest to principal. Of course as I am one of the 90% of late payers on car loans according to EdmundsCar.com they charge exorbitant fees and penalties and then just keep adding on to that.
I found out from NINFA that I had paid 5,737 in interest and 1,135 towards principal in 2 years I had 2 two month deferrals, one date change so it wouldn't coincide with rent and of course several late fees. This should not however add up to an extra 2,845 in interest! After reviewing a pdf I found online that shows my payments - I found that one payment is not accounted for in the 5,737 or 1,135 that was quoted by NINFA. Also if you take the original balance and the pay off balance I have actually paid only $605 towards principal in 2 years! NO WONDER I can't trade up - I can't refinance because of the high miles now over 112,000.
So I made the decision as my credit is already crap, I called up Santander and told them to come get the car. I have a better car that I bought for my daughter so we will have to use that until I can save up money to buy myself another better car. I will rent a car to travel long distances. I have cleaned out my car of personal items and relish the moment those ** send a driver out with a tow truck to get it. I will deal with the ramifications of defaulting on the loan rather than pay another 100% interest payment which is what the majority of my payments were! I am not sure how this type of company can even survive in the United States. I have also filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. They seem to have a lot of complaints and if someone wants to start a class action lawsuit hit me up at **. This company needs to be stopped in its tracks.

Santander always tell you of your right, but overlook then. That sent me an attempt to collect a debt. That right, they put me in collection. I would like to tell someone who may need this. My interest was $1.77 per day. They took out $4.40 per day. I'm working on that with the help of the courts.
Go over your paperwork. See with your last balances were. They will add the money you pay them back into your principal payment and add charges the same interest they credit your account with 2 months ago. So you don't get your payment credited and you still pay the same interest set down and go over your payments. The more you pay the more they take. Most of all, don't use the options of paying thru their bank or payment centers. Use your bank to deliver your payment and keep up with your Transaction numbers, you may need them for action you might have to take.
I did pay the $15.25 and call the Texas Attorney General Office and reported them as well as in my state. You can also write the US Attorney General office. Go online to find them. We the people need to stop bad companies like them. They really don't care how your payment are posted. Remember your first payment is your last in the set of 42 months = 1st payment (41 months = 2nd payment and so on). You will get to 42 months = 42 your car is paid off them. Keep helping each other.

His very last statement states 54 payments made. We have been fighting with them for 2 years now to get the title, they refuse to give it stating he owed another $1600. When asked why, their answers change every time. First it was deferment fees but he had a paper stating there were no deferment fees. So then it was late fees, his late fee was only $6.00 a month if he was late. Then they said it was interest. Now they are saying he missed 11 payments. Stay away from these people. They are heartless, horrible, greedy, despicable human beings. I don't know how they sleep at night! I bought a 2015 Fiat 500 from Fiat of Ontario. Chrysler Capital financed the car at 19% interest and charged me a $900 "bank fee." There were problems with the Fiat that could not be fixed so the dealership who also sells Jeeps told me to bring the car back and they would give me back everything I paid for it and put me in another car. This time, Chrysler Capital charged me a $1,200 "bank fee" and 21.5% interest. When I questioned the interest rate increase, CC told me that it is the dealership that "chooses" the rate. When I questioned the dealership, they showed me the form from CC that clearly showed the 21.5% percent interest rate, so CC lied to me.
When I bought the Jeep, I was asked by the dealership to purchase an extended warranty contract so they could break-even on the deal. So I did, after having been told that after 30 days I could cancel it and get the $2,100 back as a refund back to me. Well, that wasn't true. I am dealing with the dealership on that as we speak. However, I requested that CC credit my account payments with the $2K, they refused. So, after charging me $2,100 in "bank fees" and a 21.5% interest rate, they refused to do what I asked them to do.
It is clear to me that they have no interest in keeping me even remotely happy. There is no lever of acceptable customer service in any of this, and they are horrible, heartless, greedy people, and are the poster child for what is wrong with "capitalism" in this country. There was a day… but no more, and I HATE these people. My advice, stay away!

Santander financed my vehicle. The car was only worth $16,000 & they actually thought I was going to pay them $34,000! Not only that my contract & monthly payment was totally different from what they had in their system. This company has a lot of crooked things going on & I'm going to get to the bottom of it!

So today on 8/18/15 I called into customer service for a charge on my account of $20.00. The rep advise me that in July of 2014 I had a late payment (a year later). Which I have never been late on my car note, I even overpay on my note. I ask "Why wasn't I notified?" She said "Well we sent a email & notice to your home." Which is a complete lie, I have every email Santander has ever sent me since 2013 when I got my car. Even the manager couldn't explain why wasn't I notified. SMH I am now looking into new lender with better rates. About time my car is paid off I would pay 21,000 for a 2009... Please look into Santander before you sign, plus who charges $10.00 to make online payments?

I called them to ask my current balance on my Auto Loan and it is still the same as when I purchased my car in 2013. Apparently, I am still paying the exorbitant interest of my loan. I need to go and find another auto loan company before I pay more than what my car is really worth.

When I request how my car payment, I being with them seven month, made a payment arrange for the seven month which was paid as if today on 08/13/2015 next pay 323.52 on 08/25/15. The Customer service I spoke with told me apply with another companies if l want a lower price. Now why lie to your customers, knowing they wasn't going to help reduce your car loan.

I just want to say that this company has been a nightmare. Every Payment that I make towards my car goes directly to interest - none goes to the principal. I've made a Payment on my vehicle and still is the same amount as I bought it the first day. Santander USA needs to be investigated by someone to help customers like ourselves.

I purchased a car from Carmax and was financed through Santander. My car should be paid off 3/2016. I got into a car accident in 2012 and call to defer a payment because I knew that I would be out of work. At the time I was denied a deferment because I was not late on my payment. I explained that I did not want to go into default and that I was being proactive. I got nowhere. I fell behind a month but continued to make my payments after that month had passed. I have never gotten a phone call or letter regarding this missing payment. Now I have gotten a letter 3 years later saying that they are going to repossess my car for the missing payment. I said "Okay, can I make a payment arrangement since I have made on time payments since?" I was told no, that my car is up for repossession for the one payment. I was given 10 days.
If you are reading this it is probably too late to tell you to stay away from this company. I am under the impression that they don't want the $300 dollars right now, they want the car because it is almost paid off. I offered to make two payments at the end of the month - they would not agree to that either. I ask the cust rep if he felt it was ethical to do what they are doing. He told me that he isn't paid to make ethical decisions.

In 2009, my husband and I financed a 2009 Scion xB through the Toyota Dealership in Desoto. The financial company sold our loan to Santander Consumer USA. After researching the company, we decided to do a voluntary surrender of the vehicle in 2010. After talking with Santander about surrendering the vehicle, they chose to wait 4+ months so they could pick it up as a repossession for nonpayment. Once the vehicle sold at auction, they started calling frequently harassing us about the remainder of the loan. Without further agreement and notice by mail preferably, Santander decided to file a Cancellation of Debt [Form 1099-C (2014)] which adds the remaining balance to my annual income for that year. This was received by mail yesterday (8/5/2015). This was done without prior approval or agreement on our part.
I would also like to note here that my now ex-husband passed away on February 4, 2015. Receiving this form now feels like Santander not only practices unprofessional tactics but also seems to do what they can where the customer is a female without male support. Now that they have sent this form after tax year 2014 without my knowledge or agreement, it will be difficult to resolve this issue now that it seems they deliberately chose to wait until after taxes for 2014 have been filed. Never in all of my years on this earth have I ever come across a nastier, unprofessional, crooked company like this.

This unethical, unprofessional and socially irresponsible bank is "TRYING" to make me pay more money than what I agreed to on my EXECUTED contract. Reason being, they overpaid the shady dealership that they do business with too much money and because they do not have good management over their dealer relationships nor do they have efficient QC processes in place within their own financial department, THEY THINK that I am going to pay for THEIR HUGE ERROR! I DON'T THINK SO!!! They need to remember that I still have my contract safe AND SECURE locked up at my work desk, and I will DO "WHATEVER IT TAKES" TO PROTECT MYSELF & family from illegitimate occurrences!...CONSUMERS PLEASE!!!! I purchased my car through CarMax and the loan was sold to Santander. 2 years later, I owe more than I did the day that I purchased it. I financed for 10k. I now owe over 11k two years later and the car is worth 4k. I was unaware of gap insurance and knew nothing about cars at all. CarMax sold me a car for twice what it's worth then sold my loan to a company that I will owe for the rest of my life. I can't get out from underneath it. It seems that there are two common denominators here in the majority of the complaints, Carmax and Santander. They make a great team for putting those of us with lower credit scores into vehicles without informing us that we are selling our souls to do it.

In 2013 my husband and I purchased a 2008 Chevy financed with Santander. The payment was paid monthly in December 2014, we moved to Arizona and Santander for some reason screwed our loan completely. As to-date, our loan balance is still the same we financed the day we bought the vehicle. I would highly recommend people stay away from this financing company, unless you have money to pay double for your vehicle.

In Oct. of 2010 the loan was sold to Santander at 10.99% and the payment date was changed. Due to the economy I was late with several payments, but always called them and have caught up. In June I was behind 1 month and they repossessed my car and I had to pay $1400 to recover it. Long story short, on a $25k car I have paid $41,729.00 to date and still have a balance owing of $4689.88. How can this be and can someone please help us. My wife and I are 76 years old.

Santander admitted that they use a 3rd party to pick up and post their mail. Santander tells their customers to pay their payments to a po box in Dallas Texas. Which is a USPS box@ 401 Dallas Ft Worth TurnPike Dallas Texas. I actually have mailed my payment from this po box, Santander has tried to convince me that it take 10 days to get their payment. This is by far one of the worst scamming Auto Finance companies there is. To start my credit was not that good when the dealer went to Santander Consumer USA for approval; my FICO at that time was 690, which I later found out was good. My payments were on time for over 3 years and I have always paid $60 over my monthly payment. The secondary market in which Santander operates is plagued with similar companies but Santander takes the icing on this. Just try calling their Customer Service line and find out how long it takes to get a live operator online or if you wanna make a payment over the telephone and you'll find out that you'll get charged extra for such dare.
In my case, to not have any late payments, or God forbid you forget to make a payment or send it in, there's no way you can make a payment except go online, try to make it through their website which is gonna charge extra for being late. I had set up automatic payments from my bank on their website. Big mistake! In more than one occasion I was charged twice in the same month. When I called to complain they told there was nothing they could do and any refunds will have to take up to 3 weeks to be returned.
When I stop payment because they already had taken twice my payment, I was slammed with late payment fees and even repossession threats. Their Customer Service is so undesirable and unwilling to help in any way that over time I have called I just get frustrated. How is it possible that the Government allows foreign companies such as Santander to operate unscrupulously in the US? Where is the FTC and how come no other federal agency investigates these companies?

The rep aggressively tried to persuade me to join. The fifth time I directly informed her of my decline to join she Insisted her branch had better services than my credit union and went as far as disputing my fondness of my personal banking institution. The 2nd visit to conduct another transaction from a check drawn at This Santander location it reoccurred again!!! This time she was rude and interfered with my mate and I discussion.
This rep needs counseling and or reprimanding. Had I contemplated joining, I will never now. My credit union never coerce or persistently try to persuade me or my family members of doing banking. My husband and I purchased a car from Carmax and financed through Santander. We have purchased several cars from Carmax in the past, and the finance companies that they partner with offered loans that were all above board. They were all honest and forthwith. I can't say the same for Santander. Since acquiring the car we have made payments of 1000.00 per month that is above monthly payment due. Santander has applied the interest rate to the 1000.00 based upon a monthly rate accrued daily. Due to the amount paid over the agreed to payment they deduct it towards interest on the loan and not principal. Now they are expecting a payment near twice the agreed to monthly payment.
We called them, and they would not reveal the state the company is registered in, and would not provide a copy of the phone conversation where the operator attempted to figure out how to explain how the payment was applied. We will be refinancing the car from our credit union, and dumping this predatory lender. I will not buy a car from Carmax again, and I will advise all I come in contact with the same.
