I’m sorry I opened the account. The only reason I did because I had a settlement check and had to deposit it to get my funds. My grandson just graduated and his mom made a money necklace for him. He asked if I could put it into my account. I transfer it back to him when available and he put it in a visa debit so some of the money had tape so the atm took the funds. Stop allowing me to put more. Didn’t give me credit so sounds like it’s a lost cause. Lesson learned. I feel bad cause it’s his money. I’m gonna have to replace it. I would not recommend anyone to do banking with this establishment.

They keep stating they are going to hand over my funds to the state - their reason was inactivity which is not true. I have spoken with eight different customer service/ bankers on phone and in person explaining to them I am receive these notices, but I continue to receive these threatening letters that they will send my funds to the state. Now today they say they do not have my social security on file which is not true because they ask me for it every time I go into their bank. Don't trust them with my money anymore.

Lake lansing, lansing, mi. Shouldn't claim you have a feature in consideration of funds that you don't properly support. Cash advance machine is 50/50 and they won't buy a better machine even though there are options available. It's been down multiple times over a 3 year period. Has been down each time I've come in the past month and a half. 2nd my fiancee tried to run her business through them and dealt with terrible communication and inconsistent information. Also they refused to give me a contact number for someone who was in charge of the quality of the advance machine.

I have been with PNC for about 20 years. They continually do things to show me how uncalled I am. No tellers, 4 people working and only 1 that can help people. Been waiting for a while now. They yelled at me the last time I came in because they changed me from an older account to a new one without telling me. Could not move it back they said. Time to find a new bank.

Just got paid and I went to a PNC atm to withdraw $600. The atm gave me an error and did not give me the money but was taking from my account leaving me with only 69 dollars to my name. Call Pnc and talked to 3 different people. They tell me that I have to dispute the transaction after it post the next day then it can take up to ten days to get my money back. It’s a holiday weekend and I have kids plus they are closed Monday. This is not my fault and I’m being punished. I can’t live on 69 dollars for ten days and we had plans for the weekend. Thanks Pnc I will be taking my business somewhere else if you’re can make it the ten days.

I have been a customer of PNC for about 20 years. Within those 20 years they have done nothing to help me. This bank is not for the everyday person. They will only cater to large accounts due to the fact that you want to be one of the largest banks in the US. They no longer show quality customer service. I do not recommend this Bank. As soon as I can I will be going to another bank.

PNC blocked by personal and two business accounts. The local branch said I was "under investigation". Can't call them. Finally, after 1 week, I got a call from "PNC HELP LINE" at 7:30 AM. I was asked questions about a wire transfer I made for $10,000. The man said he would report to investigations. They would take 30 days. If I was ok, then another 30 days to release my accounts. How do I pay my bills with NO access to my money? This is CRAZY. And no one will or can help me. Local branch was not even acting sorry. NEVER BANK THERE AGAIN. I'm going to another bank. Hopefully, they will release my money or an attorney will be involved.

I’m a successful small business in Ohio and first hand watched PNC steal from us, fight against us when they should have fought for us and if you use their merchant service, forget about it…. Plan to lose every charge back and dispute. You can show them 100 percent proof that the charge back is fraudulent, and they don’t care… They side with the other side Every time. They lie and lure you in with their low fees but forget about it. That lasts maybe a month or 2 then they up then and don’t even tell you. If you have money to burn, use PNC. I submitted the offer for the co-op unit and it got accepted then I did the inspection for the condo unit which costs $396 and then sent the results to Trent **. Then he told me to take classes through a company called Framework about mortgage process which cost $75 and get a certificate to get a $3000 grant towards the mortgage.
I took the classes and passed it then sent the certification to him. Then 2 weeks before closing on the co-op he tells me I wasn’t actually qualified due to the overwriter’s decision so I had to cancel the contract on the co-op and he has the nerve to call me a week later for $132 because he pulled up my credit report. I have been a customer for over 30 years and am disgusted as to how I was treated. I had not received a statement since Oct 2023 and that occurred when my husband passed away. I have not changed my address and have received credit cards and letters but NO statements. I tried to get online and was not able to. I was told this account was my husband’s and since he passed away, I could not get online. They did try to fix this but was never resolved.
I closed my account on January 7, 2024 and received a letter with my balance. I was able to get online (only this time) and paid this but balance had changed with added interest? and it was paid in full on Jan 22, 2024. Mid-April 2024 I received an email that I was owing and turned over to collections. Upon calling over 10 times and getting hung up on several times, who told me I owed $$$. Some late fees and interest were removed but not all was removed. I paid this but don’t feel that I should have had to..
I asked what the bill was for and told interest???? If this was for interest on a closed account, I don’t feel I owe it. I have never been late for a bill that I received. I was told you could not/would not email me that this account is paid for in full. I think that is ridiculous. I cannot and will not recommend this company to anyone, especially after the way I was treated. It is hard enough to lose my husband but to be treated like this was awful!

After signing up with an agency for leads back in February, I decided to open an account with PNC Bank because most of the agencies clients bank with PNC. On April 26th I received my first payment via Zelle, for which I thought my Zelle was linked to another Institution. After receiving an alert stating that the Zelle was sent to PNC via my email, I rushed to the bank because I noticed that my bank card was missing. After speaking with one of the bankers who was very very helpful, he informed me that the transfer was under review first fraud and I could not with my funds or use my account. He informed me that the investigation can take 48 to 72 business hours and I can revisit the branch at that time. He and I kept the lines of communication open and I went bank to follow up on April 30th, because of the urgent needs for the money to pay my daughter’s tuition, my rent, my insurance payments and other bills that are due the first week of the month.
I was then told again that the Zelle payment is under investigation for fraud and the investigation may take up to 30 days. Why is it okay first a financial institution to be able to hold on to your funds of which you had to work very hard for, just because they feel like it’s fraud. I do not trust PNC bank. The banker did everything he could to assist, but the branch manger and the customer service departments were not helpful at all.

The worst bank, and honestly company, that I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. If the app isn't going down the day your payment is due then the site will just decide to suspend your account. I've had to call in to have my account unsuspended multiple times after only entering my password twice while the listed reason for the suspension is too many log in attempts, and yet the notification for this came when I tried to log in so the likelihood it's coming from anyone other than me is not there.
Online banking is unreliable, and if you think you'll get a better experience in person then think again because their locations utilize remote virtual teller machines with no way to request someone you've spoken to before so their level of training, understanding, and even care are all shots in the dark. Have a question? You could talk to three different people and be told three different things without ever even going out the door. It's not worth it. Go somewhere else.

My banking needs have always been fairly straightforward, and PNC has met them adequately for 20-some years. Have checking that works fine. Wired money abroad, no problem. Direct deposits from brokerages, presto! The local branch staff are courteous and professional. So why the "1" rating? "Because "-1" isn't available. Here is the text of the PNC pitch our college-student son received this week: "You are invited to apply for a PNC Core Visa credit card... 0% intro APR... for the first 18 billing cycles... [then] 18.24%-30.24%."
The first taste is free, as drug dealers are purported to say. Here we have a nationally chartered bank trying to lure young people into credit-dependency with a free ride for 18 months, then rates that the old streetcorner sharks would have liked. Corporate ethics? Zero evidence of any at PNC (or probably quite a few others). No ethical company lends money at 30%, because a borrower paying that rate isn't creditworthy. But PNC is ready to lend to the most vulnerable, including financially inexperienced students. I admit to a bias. My household hasn't paid a dime in interest in years. Company said that it was not them that passed my info to the solicitors, it was a credit check company. I respectfully retract my 1 star rating for a bank and award it instead to the entire predatory credit check process that allows my info to be sold to others when all that was authorized was a credit check.
Original Review: Feb. 9, 2024
Recently, my wife and I needed a substantial amount of cash to fund a home repair. We decided to explore the home equity line of credit and chose to apply for one with PNC Bank because their interest rates were better than similar offerings with other groups. The PNC associates were friendly and helpful and the application process wasn't too hard...however our troubles began right after the application process was triggered.
Not five minutes after finishing the application, the phone number we used on the form started getting telemarketer spam calls for similar lien/mortgage/line-of-credit products. It's been two weeks since then and we regularly receive 20 or more solicitation calls PER DAY. The phone number is on the national do not call list, but it hasn't seemed to help. I even engaged in conversation with one of the solicitors and found out that it was a PNC affiliate (Transunion, used for the credit score check) from which they had received our information.
During the application process there was a box we had to check saying that we agreed to share our information with PNC affiliates so that the proper background checks, home evaluations, and credit checks could be performed. I don't know that the application could have been approved without us authorizing them to share the info. However what has happened crosses a line and is to the level of harassment. Would this have happened with any other bank we chose to work with? Is there anything we could have done to prevent such things from happening in the future?
In my mind, a critical metric for any bank should be how well they handle a person's private information and if they are taking steps to ensure that something like what we experienced should never happen. PNC is a big bank, they could throw some weight to have prevented that. I'm sure they're earning some kind of kickback in partnership revenue shares from Transunion being able to sell our information. I can't accept that this level of exploitation of people in need of a loan should be (or should remain) the norm.
Regardless of tools available or how nice their people are, if they are not willing to ensure that our personal information is not shared with the world, I will always recommend you use a different bank. I am angry and frustrated and intend to share this story on as many mediums as I can so that others that read this can make their own choice, but at least you were warned!

Then EVERY time you use the card outside of the US, you get charged a foreign exchange transaction fee. When I called and explained to agent, sent a copy of the terms and conditions, they refused to remove the charges. Will the day ever come when banks will notify consumers of their fees?

I opened a joint virtual wallet account with my fiance in 2009 or 2010. He was disabled and not working, so I was the only person depositing into the accounts, but he was free to use the debit card and we went in and opened the account together so we both signed for what we wanted. I had a checking account to spend from, a savings account to keep some emergency funds in and a second savings account so I could deposit a portion of my paychecks to pay my taxes at the end of the year as I was self employed.
Well one day in 2011 I came home to find him not where he should have been and soon found out that he had withdrawn every dime from all 3 accounts and disappeared. When I called the bank I was told that "whoever signed first was considered the primary account holder and has the right to close the account without notifying or requiring the other person's permission or signature." Don't you think that should have been mentioned when I OPENED the account?? And I read all these other reviews about how they can't get a joint account closed! This makes me JUST AS ANGRY AS I WAS IN 2011! No one would even listen to me ask to check on how many checks written to him were deposited, but the answer would have been 0!

If I could give a zero, I would. I called to close a corporate credit card due fraudulent transactions and suspicious activity on 12//7/23, which took 2 separate calls to complete, over 2 hours! I requested the card be closed and new card be FedEx overnighted to my office as I would be leaving on 12/10/23 for business. On 12/8/23, I called PNC back for status as the replacement had not arrived, I was told informed my request had been entered on 12/8/23, the card had not been mailed. You can of course guess my frustration and the anger, particularly when the customer service told me to place the business expenses for a week worth of travel on my personal credit card (no one in their right mind does that!). I was transferred to several people, eventually back to the Fraud Dept. I was assured a Supervisor would contact me within 24 hours. Nope.
On Monday, 12/11/23 I called PNC for status, only to be informed the card had still not printed as I had called on 12/8/23. I spoke with another supervisor and demanded they review the recorded statements and I would provide screenshots of phone logs along with a coworker who was in the office, who could verify the length of time I was on hold both times on 12/7/23 resolving the issues. I was told there was no need, PNC is not lying or "manipulating" records. So, it is Monday, 12/11/23 at 5:30pm EST, there is still no tracking number and I was told a supervisor will call me tomorrow to follow-up. I have absolutely no faith this will occur. More likely I will have to do their job for them. Long story short, here is their system, if you need a replacement card call M-TH before 3pm EST and demand a replacement Fed Ex, get everyone's name, if the request is made on Friday, they do not process it until Monday.

What a horrible bank. Full of empty promises to ensure you lose all your money while you wait for a quote unquote supposed unbiased computer system that technically makes everyone that works there human puppets. They stole $60 dollars from me because it was to their convenience. Save your money and use any bank except PNC! I had an account 5 years ago, I owed condo fees, the account was taken over. I considered it a closed account in general. I would randomly receive emails but with no actual information. In the past year to 6 months I started to get more detailed emails but still very cryptic so one day I received an alert stating the account had under 100 dollars warning. So I walked into a bank when I had 98 dollars in it. They said they couldn't give me an ATM card to use the money but that they would put in higher requests to get some fees reversed because it used to have about $130.
So I wasn't able to use MY money because they couldn't give me an ATM card and they continued wanting to help making me wait as the fees just ate away at the little they had left me and as a courtesy reminded me I had but technically if I wanted any hope of seeing more of my money back to keep it open and keep trying as they on 4 different occasions through the phone and in person kept saying, "It's fine," they'll escalate it to someone with authority and a brain. But both things don't exist. This bank I'm now for sure is ran by a computer. Please save yourself the time and frustration and go to a bank that has back bone and has enough common sense to say, "Yes ma'am. I understand you've been wronged. Let me make it right." But no not this place. Thieves.

I closed our corporate banking accounts with PNC in 2022 due to their terribly poor customer service experiences with them, too numerous to mention. I did not want the new owner (as of April 2023) to deal with their nonsense so I closed our multi-million dollar per year business accounts with them. I learned last month that they never closed these accounts and also received a collection notice as PNC turned me personally over for collection for over $300 which included banking fees. It turns out (and they admitted as much) that there was a bogus $49 charge from a software virus company that we never agreed to nor had knowledge of and because our bank representative (of record) FAILED TO DO HER JOB, these fees accrued.
I had many, many issues with this same rep over the last few years and frankly, I don't know how she can keep her job. Since they acknowledged to me today that (1) they had received my request(s) to close the account and (2) the bogus charge came after my requests, you would think that PNC would do the right thing and get this taken care of, but no. After three weeks of "running it by legal and PNC auditors", they came to a poor and spiteful decision. The $ was returned after much time and conversations (caught within 2 weeks) BUT, they blocked my account for 2 weeks and would not release the block unless I paid for their service to preview and approve every check I write... Refused to give me a letter to explain to my vendors that we were victims of fraud (which made us look like deadbeats) and prevented us from processing payroll through our provider, would give us no insight or detail as to the fraud investigation, refused to reimburse us from return fees for everything that bounced against the block. They severely impacted our ability to do business.
Spoke with approximately 12 people over 2 months until I reached retail support corporately who was unable to escalate my complaint (highest level) and would only provide me a legal address and stated that hiring an attorney would be my only recourse. They refused even to reduce our (recorded!) conversations to writing or tell me what was happening with my fraud case (internal information they'd only supply with a subpoena). All calls to fraud and legal went unanswered. I have never been treated so poorly in all my business experience. PNC repossessed my boat and sold it at auction after failing to update my address in their system! My payments were on autopay and were going to the prior bank (my loan was sold twice). Even after proving I had requested an address change three times and a PNC employee was found to alter an official notice of repossession (updating my address), because one payment in 3 years was late over 30 days, the law states they have a right to repossess a boat (luxury item). I had moved and hadn’t lived at that address for almost two years!
Regardless, they hired a team of attorneys and I lost the lawsuit. To make matters worse, this was 4 years ago and because I refused to pay the amount due plus attorney fees, they continue to hit my credit every month stating the loan is pending repossession. I’ve never missed a payment on a loan. The only reason one payment was late was due to the first mortgage change and the customer service rep told me to wait to make my next payment until the new account was set up. This is the ONLY negative mark against my credit and my score went from the low 800’s to under 700 overnight. I have a rare blood disease and they dragged out this lawsuit probably hoping I would die. Well guess what? I’m still here and I’m pissed. I’ve called and went in to the bank many of times. These jockers keep telling me to go buy a tablet and keep track of my finances myself. Are you flipping kidding me. You're a major bank and can't keep my balance correct. So what's the purpose of the app, so I can get an around about idea how much is in my account.
Now they continue to tell me that when I use my card some vendors take the money out and then put it back in that same day. So now when they put it back in it screws my balance up. Four days later they take it out again. Probably true but that shouldn’t be my problem. Then they tell there is no other way. REALLY because I can use my FREE Cash App card a 1000 times in 1 day and my balance is always right. My mother banks with Marquette. She never has a problem. My sister banks with Bank of America. I would give PNC bank 0 stars if possible. They are absolutely horrible. They make mistakes and take months to fix them. In my case they had an error in the date of a trust account for my deceased mother. They insisted multiple times that I needed to furnish the "updated" document. When we insisted that no such document existed, they said "That's your problem not ours". 3+ months later, and 4 escalations, they agree it was an error on their part. From talking to a local lawyer, this is a systematic problem (intentional?) with this bank. STAY AWAY.

After 9+ years with PNC I have lost my home and lost my unborn twins due to South Mountain PNC Bank, bank error. PNC acknowledged their error which caused me great stress and also caused my family and I currently to be living out of a hotel. Well to make a long story short I got a cashier check from them in January 4th 2023 to pay my rent, come to find out the Bank Teller Samuel didn't complete the transaction correctly, making the check not valid. I wasn't notified and they didn’t try to fix the situation at the end of the banking day or the following day, when Samuel’s banking transactions didn’t balance out.
My landlord didn't make me aware of this bank error til March 2023. The outcome of this bank error caused an eviction to my family and I, Banyan Preserves thought it was a flagrant check after trying multiple times to process it. After being passed on to multiple PNC agents in different departments, they basically told me, "YOU’RE SCREWED" due to their bank error. They can’t help me but they can make a documentation of this bank error and wish me luck. I’m just asking South Mountain PNC or those who have the authority to make things right.

Very poor experience and banking practices. This company treats their customers like a word I prefer not to use. They froze our account with no notification so far for 4 days. I have tried repeatedly each day to get some kind of answer as to why our Business Accounts are frozen. No one in the local branch can help us, as they say, you have to wait thirty days to hear from someone. The Branch lady was nice enough to try and contact someone on the phone I guess from another department, which is absurd.
They compartmentalize everything regarding the customer service process that even their own employees have a hard time trying to help and have to take the brunt of all the negativity received by the customer due to the Bank unprofessionalism and downright disrespect by way of not providing any insight at least as to why they would freeze a business' account. They have enough information to freeze your account but yet don't have enough information to tell you why they did. They have not told me in writing, by way of email, phone and/or text about the matter. We are in the 21 century and they are telling me I have to wait to receive it in the mail. Yet, they can contact us for a payment via phone call and or email. This bank is horrible!
I placed a complaint to the BBB one day regarding the matter. I called PNC two days later to get some information being I still have not been contacted regarding my account and why it's frozen. I was somehow patched through to some Marketing Director for some reason and she mentioned the complaint I placed on BBB during our conversation. I never mentioned it, so at that point it started to feel retaliatory by the way I was being treated due to me placing a complaint. I was sent to multiple people who I was told that will help get me some answer and none will ever call back.
I will have to keep calling for updates just for them to tell me they have no information as to why they put a block on my account, but yet they have information to put a block on my account. **! I have went as far as obtaining information regarding a lawyer by way of Consumer Fraud Legal Services LLC which has an extensive track record of dealing with PNC by way Arbitration due to their poor business practices. Funding the account, even more so. Obstacles at every point. Almost as if they were just trying to prevent me from earning their interest. They succeeded. My initial attempt at funding didn't work because the name on the account I was funding from wasn't exactly the same as the account I opened with PNC. After a couple trips to my other bank to open a new account & a couple trips to the PNC branch, I was finally able to set up my account & try to get my funding account verified with small deposits. This delayed the process a week because their 2 deposits totaled $1.00, then they pulled them out so each time I checked my balance to see if I had deposits, my balance hadn't changed. Finally, I realized what happened & verified my account.
Next step - funding. I transferred money from the verified account to my PNC savings & got a confirmation message & email. I received no subsequent issues about any problems. A couple weeks later I checked my PNC app to see if I had received any interest & the balance was $0! It had never transferred. There was a message that I needed to call PNC because my account was on hold. I called & a clueless representative transferred me to an automated system that hung up on me. I moved on to a different bank after losing hundreds in potential interest waiting for PNC to get their act together. Not worth the trouble.

PNC blocked the transaction and called me to inform me about the suspicious activity. The hacker also tried to set up outgoing bill pay transfers in large amounts. To do that, they would have had to get my username and password somehow. PNC closed my account.
The next morning, I drove to the nearest branch office. I walked in at opening time, and within an hour, everything was resolved. New debit card. New account. My money is safe. I don't know how the hacker got the info to get into my PNC account. Could be an oversight on my behalf. Perhaps the computers I use for online banking need updated security. I'll look into it. PNC is not at all what I expected. We are not permitted to move more than $2,000.00 per day, or $5,000.00 per month, either in, or out of the high yield savings account using the online external transfer option. So, the only way to move larger amounts (in or out) is to send/receive wire transfers which will cost wire fees at both ends ($50.00 to $65.00 total). This means it would cost me more to move my money than the interest I earn on this savings account. There is no limit to check deposits into the account, but they will take your money out of your external account the day you deposit the check, however they will place the deposit(s) on hold for 5-7 days while PNC earns the interest during the interim period. This has become a standard banking practice with most banks and I suspect they earn hundreds of thousands of dollars every day in interest on our money while they hold it.
Lastly PNC does not offer checks on the savings account so you can't use checks to move your money back out either. The only way to move more than $2,000.00 is to wire funds. I was really hoping I could take advantage of this high yielding savings promotion, but their many restrictions are such that if I want to access my funds I have to pay for wire transfers. I was hoping to deposit a large sum ($100,000.00 +) of money into this account but clearly they don't want my business. Very unfortunate.

And the kicker is by them reporting the late/non-payment I lost over 100 points on my credit score and they charged me late fees. After trying to resolve the issue(s), their official response basically is, "Your payment was not made," and they will not assume any accountability for the worst electronic payment system I have ever encountered. So they are not fixing the damage they did to my credit score or reimburse me for the late fees they charged.
It's time to drop them like a bad habit and warn any and everyone I can of their bad faith practices/policies, in my opinion. This would be a simple thing to remedy, give me the $38 back, fix my credit and fix their app/online banking to be able to pay using a external account!! Apparently they need the $38 more than I do, and 5 minutes to send a statement to the credit reporting agencies will take too long or too much effort or whatever their twisted principle of this is. All equate to a very unfriendly customer environment for me!!

This bank will gladly take your money into their accounts and hold it there to use how they fill fit. They will benefit off of your hard earned income. They will do these things knowing full well that they will do NOTHING to protect it from theft! When your money a stolen right out of your account that you believe to be safe, they will tell you there is nothing they can do about it because, “we don’t have a policy against theft from hackers.” This bank should be held liable for these actions. They are just as implicated as the hackers that took the money.

I can’t stand that I had to catch fraud purchases that was basically salami theft on my debit card. It was months after it all began too, no one caught it and it would have continued if I didn’t make the effort to look and see what was unusual. So because they said that “I didn’t notify them in a timely manner” that I’m held liable for the ones that happened outside the 60 day window, all because I didn’t even know about These thieves (not allowed to swear here). Basically got away with stealing the $30 that were outside the time frame for Spotify, and I don’t even have an account there.
No one should have to worry about whether or not their money is safe even in the bank, thank God I took extra measures now to get signed up for alerts for any purchases that come out of the account at all. However, I’m considering whether or not I should be with them after this since I can’t get over what they did or if I can’t trust that my money is entirely safe like it should be. It’s only because of some friendly people who work there and no account fees that I’m still with them. Don’t trust a liar is all I will say.

Very deceptive, they constantly change YOUR WRITTEN AND SIGNED AGREEMENT with whatever they want AFTER they trick you with false promises and lies to open your account in the 1st place..
As far as I'm concerned that's THEFT BY DECEPTION, FRAUD, AND A BREACH OF CONTRACT THAT SHOULD RESULT IN A LAWSUIT..Take your money anywhere but here...their DECEPTIVE practices are only getting worse and they are doing it all in secret..They waited until the recession started to fully kick in to start stealing your money, or at least what we have left of it..And don’t be deceived, they will keep stealing it until your account is in the negative ...Never ever trust a bank that does these things.

I sent a payment and a duplicate payment went through. After bank investigation of over 90 days they find all charges to be valid. After hours of calls and digging I find out from a very rude and unprofessional conversation with a man named Dariell from PNC that they ARE blaming it on a tech issues with the app. Apple cash specialists I spoke to also agree it was glitch but CANNOT refund anything not even the duplicate transaction with same transaction number because the funds came from my bank card!
I’m writing this to raise awareness that if you are using this bank and fall for a scam (btw doesn’t fall under fraud protection even-though there was a duplicate unauthorized charge that went to the scammer also) THEY DO NOT HAVE YOUR BACK. On 9/25, my wallet was stolen and within an hour I reported it to PNC Bank. They had already allowed a stranger to use my DEBIT card to purchase $980 worth of goods at Walmart - without my PIN. Then, it took them three days to provide a provisional credit for that. I filed a police report and gave them the police report number. On 10/6/2022, they allowed a person to withdraw $1,900 from my account at a bank branch in Duncanville. The person forged my signature on a withdrawal slip. I have never made a counter withdrawal, nor done any business in Duncanville. I noticed the theft and reported it immediately to PNC on 10/11/2022. I called five times, went into a local branch, and no one helped me.
I finally got a call today from someone at PNC telling me that I would not get a provisional credit of that $1,900 for 120 days- the length of time it takes them to investigate. I am appalled that PNC Bank allowed a criminal to withdraw MY MONEY and due solely to their negligence, I cannot pay my mortgage, and they will not give me back the money they wrongfully disbursed to a criminal for 120 days.

I live and work in DC; do not drive and do not shop online or otherwise at any of these stores. When I asked, I was told that a purchase was made at a Giant Food in Manassas, VA at 9:03 am this morning. I am at work, actually working before then. The next charge for some clothing items from Kim Kardashian's online site. (I never heard of it and being that I am past the age of wearing her items).
I looked further and discovered that on 9/21/22 someone purchased 2 orders of food from a place in Woodbridge, VA. I went to the bank after the phone call to PNC closed the current card account. I was given a new card, and told that tomorrow, 9/23/22, PNC will conference call with me to file a formal investigation after the over $400.00 posts from my account. Fortunately, I have overdraft protection, but PNC moved money I have saved for bill to cover the thievery of my account.
Obviously, PNC is having issues again and this a first for me. I was shocked but glad I checked my account earlier today. At the rate the thief was going they would have drained my bank account. PNC needs to look into this. During my visit, the PNC rep informed me that she had at least 8 clients in the last week with the same issue come to her location for a new card. I found out a company has been excessively charging my card every 48 hours until the funds were available in my account and PNC never alerted me of this charge. I placed a large deposit into this account to cover my mortgage only for PNC to then start deducting random purchases I have made well over (by debit) 10 days ago.
I tried to move the money to my growth so it would stop deducting these funds until I got it straightened out. PNC just continued to deduct these 2-week old pending payments from that balance and pull from my growth to cover the charges. Which left me short of my mortgage payment. When it came time for the mortgage payment, PNC let them deduct the full amount leaving my account negative in the thousands. PNC does not ask customers weather they want to enroll in Tap to Pay system or not. They just force them to be a part of it. This payment system authenticates through Wi-Fi Connection that is notoriously impossible to secure. Which means that anyone who is in proximity with the professional Netmon software can identify the WiFi Connection and security key for it. Absolutely not acceptable.
Second, PNC is not affiliated with Verified by Visa that seems to work only in few countries. Or any other personally selected digits for additional online identification, known only to owner of the card, that must be entered during online purchases. Absolutely not acceptable. None of the identification methods are private. How is social security number, name, address, ZIP code, expiration date, three digit ID number on the back of the card private? How many times customers experience the following case scenario: the cashier on the register in Taco Bell, Mc Donalds, etc, etc, read you card, prints the bill, and disappear behind the cash machine from your site, until the food is ready to serve and then return your card immediately before she/he serves the food? Or take for example any restaurant where you need to give a card to waitress, or waiter, to charge the bill.
You are sharing the credit card information forcibly with literally hundreds of people, and therefore none of the information on it is private. Does PNC believes we should trust everyone who holds our cards? How many times, cash register workers, take a moment to read customer's credit card details right in front of your nose? If the customer is frequent, it only take several times for them to put the picture together. It is absolutely not acceptable that consumers are forced into sharing their credit card details, without having a choice of personal identification number that must be submitted during the online purchases.

Virtual wallet is by far the worst banking “tool” I have ever used. My account balance is rarely correct. I literally have to keep an old school ledger for accuracy, otherwise I would have found myself in trouble multiple times. It has been off by several thousand dollars for multiple days in a row with them counting on the fact that the person will end up overdrafting as a result. Pending transactions don’t even appear much of the time or they will show up only to disappear later on then reappear once they post to the account. They also wait exceptionally long periods of time to post transactions as well in order to maximize overdraft fees and they are always for larger amounts. Never have I seen a $3 debit withheld, but $300? All the time.
I also fully understand that it is up to the merchant regarding when you are charged, however, I highly doubt Amazon waits nearly ten days to do this after you have already received the item. It’s beyond ridiculous. Apparently, PNC has been guilty of these same reprehensible business practices in the past and they changed nothing. Never in my 42 years have I encountered a bank who operates like this. I’ve never had to worry that my account balance is constantly wrong and it’s shocking to me more people haven’t complained online. PNC bank cashed a check that I mailed out to pay a utility bill for $63.50 and was somehow stolen and altered and made payable to an individual I did not know nor have I ever met. Payable in the amount of $12,869.89. How the bank could justify payment in such a large amount for a check that was obviously fraudulent without the benefit of a phone call to me is beyond my comprehension as the check did not have my signature on it. As a result of the fraudulent activity on my personal checking account, I was forced to open new accounts which meant trying to update the new information with both of my 2 jobs as I am paid by direct deposit and changing direct deposits is not a transaction that happens overnight and as a result, my Missouri child support payment and a paycheck from one of my jobs were deposited into the hacked account.
I tried reporting the fraud to the local police who told me that despite the fact that some unknown criminal tried to steal close to $13k from me that they are unable to take a report because until I am able to tell them the exact jurisdiction where the check was presented for payment that a report could not be filed as the report will need to be filed in the jurisdiction where the fraud was committed. As of yet, PNC claims they do not know where the check was presented and To add insult to injury, when the fraud was discovered my hacked account was put on a "hard hold" and the PNC Representative I was working within the branch helped me to calculate the amount of outstanding items so that I could leave that amount in the compromised account just in case any of my other outstanding checks were presented for payment so that they wouldn't bounce and be returned to those merchants.
In the interim, the money that was taken from me was refunded but after the refunded amount was credited to my new checking account, PNC bank informed that they refunded too much and as a result, the compromised account was now overdrawn in the amount of $623.26 and that is AFTER I left $447 in the account to cover my outstanding checks which means that PNC bank is basically saying that they refunded an extra $1000 which is absolutely ridiculous because there is no way to refund money that isn't already in the account. And icing on cake, they refuse to close the compromised account since they claim it is overdrawn and want me to pay back the overdrawn amount.
If that isn't bad enough, since all of this happened so suddenly and I was forced to open new accounts, I did not have enough time to change my direct deposit information for a job that I get paid from EVERY week so my paycheck on 5/27 was deposited into the hacked account and my weekly child support payment from the state of Missouri was also deposited into the hacked account and PNC refuses to return these payments which were $174.12 - Missouri child support and $221.08 - wages from Amazon.
I've reached out to PNC Corporate and have received no response so I am now reaching out to the Attorney General for Missouri as well as the Better Business Bureau. I asked PNC to at a minimum to place stop payments on the 4 or 5 checks that are still outstanding as I've spoken to all of the merchants that those checks were mailed to and they ALL indicated that those payments were never received and when advising PNC to place Stop Payments on these checks they told me that to do so they would have to charge me $33 per check even though the fraud was not created by me, the customer.
I've been with PNC for 9 years and have never been overdrawn on any of my accounts and this is how they treat a good customer. I need help getting a return of the money that is owed to me, I need help finding out where the fraudulent check was taken so I can file a proper police report but most importantly I need to let other people know what happened to me so that hopefully this never happens to another hardworking person who entrust their financial institutions to protect them.
I have a copy of the altered check that was presented to PNC and how they put this instrument through without a proper signature is absolutely criminal and had I not caught the fraud when I did, this random person would have gotten away with stealing almost $13K from me and how this person knew I had that kind of money in the first place tells me that this was an "inside job" and PNC has a lot of explaining to do period. You cannot treat customers like this and think that it's ok to drag your feet in providing a resolution. What happened to me should not have happened and I want my child support payment and my employer wages returned to me immediately.
Anything you can do to help resolve the issue would be greatly appreciated as the bank keeps transferring me from department to department with no movement towards a resolution. What's happened to me is a crime of EPIC proportions and I'm not taking this lying down. PNC is complicit in the fraud against my account and I am currently seeking the advice of an Attorney.

I asked for another appraisal to be done but PNC refused to do so and closed my application and said to reapply. My loan officer, who was awful and showed she didn't care, filed a complaint against the local appraiser after I made a huge deal about it but the bank still used the appraisers report to deny my loan. PNC also refused to give me a copy of the appraisal report or who the appraiser was which honestly by law they don't actually have to do on a 2nd mortgage. I used a local credit union the next day and got my home appraised and an equity loan in 3 weeks. It took 2 months with PNC to get denied. DO NOT use PNC bank as they will accept fraudulent reports and then turn a blind eye to it. No one will hold them accountable and then you get left behind.

They merged with BBVA Compass adopting and continuing to use their bad practices and extremely inconsistent and reckless business practices. They damaged my credit nearly 100 points and with no warning. There is the same lack of checks and balances that ruined Compass, leaving you with-just a terrible taste in your mouth. Countless calls and talks with lazy personnel that could care less about the loans they give you and false promises. I faced not only damage to my perfect credit but experienced that employees find gratification in not being able to handle problems with payments or refinancing etc or guiding you to someone to handle problems.

PNC is very convenient and great until you have anything that goes wrong with your account. I have had a horrible customer service experience over the last few days with PNC leaving me feel as if my accounts have no value to them. I will be closing all of my PNC accounts and going to a bank that does not hang up on their customers and ask "so why are you contacting me?"

I would like to brief about my wire transfer experience through with the PNC Wire transfer and my wire transfer was submitted post COVID time. This includes 2 instances where the first one involved submission at the bank and the second instance involved submission via the phone line. According to the PNC, the SLA for a wire transfer is 1-2 business days. However, during my first instance the bank posted my transaction on the 5th calendar day or 4th business day. And on the second instance, it was not posted yet and I'm already on the 5th calendar day (4th business day).
Most frustrating part is that none of the PNC wire transfer team is able to provide me the SLA on when the transaction will get posted in my account. I had been calling the team many times with no credible response. At times, I even felt that the bank reps are only interested in acquiring new customers than servicing the existing customers. PNC can be your bank of choice if you are only looking for self service options (ATM, Online) but I would recommend PNC as a preferred option any more if you need to get service at the bank or through their dedicated customer service line.

Many branches are poorly staffed, or have limits as to how much money you can take out at each branch. Branches are spread out and so if you need access of large sums it’s near impossible with obtain with their “limits per branch”. Every single time I have gone it, it’s high pressure sales to meet with a banker about their products or solutions for my money. Even after telling several tellers I am not interested. Worst bank I have ever dealt with.

I couldn't get back on, so I went to Wurzbach location and they were having problems with system, so the lady told me I can go to Centerview location. Again something was wrong and the lady told me I would have to wait for few days, I went back to see if I can get my check debt card. Another lady was waiting and she said been waiting for while. I waited for one hour. I left because they take long time. Call customer service to order debt card and still haven't received it. Been more than five days. I never had a bank take more than a week for debt card. Not good for business.

Some branches are poorly staffed. No customer service, lack of knowledge and some staff are practicing reverse discrimination. It's very obvious. I visited my local branch this morning to inquire about wire transfers to and from my account (business ). I had questions about the process and was hoping to get someone to help me with that. Instead of addressing my needs, the person reached for a piece of paper and handed it to me and said, "This is what you need for wire transfer" and proceeded to take care of another customer. Very unprofessional and rude.

I have tried to pay my mortgage online 3 months in a row and get locked out. And get this: they have to snail-mail me a reset password!! And each time when I have called the "representative" is rude and asks stupid questions like, "do you have caps lock on, are you sure you're typing correctly", etc. Very condescending! And they tell me I'm not locked out, even when I read the screen back to them telling me that I'm locked out and an email says my online access is suspended. Ridiculous!!

Updated on 04/29/2022: Unethical bank practice - Closed my high-yield savings account with PNC after receiving a letter that my account was deactivated due to inactivity. Called the bank and was told that unless I have some type of activity, the account would be deactivated and the funds would be turned over to the state. I have to physically call in at least every 3 years for the account to stay active. The fact that I log in on a regular basis apparently doesn't count. I asked them to close the account and transfer the funds to another bank. I opened 2 other savings account at the same time for the same amount with 2 different banks and they never deactivated my accounts.
I asked them to close the account and since they have a $5k limit on daily transfer out of the account, I told them I would accept a paper check ONLY because the rep told me the check would be overnighted. I never received my check. Over the next two weeks I called them numerous times, spoke to multiple supervisors, bounced around to different departments and no one could tell me when the check would be issued nor when I would receive it. I was told repeatedly that an escalation member would call me but no one has.
I am outraged that PNC has over $100k of my money and refuses or incapable of telling me where my money is. Countless runarounds and lack of response makes PNC Bank more of an unethical con bank than a legitimate bank. Filed a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau but who knows when they will get this resolved. I cannot believe a bank is allowed to behave this way and get away with it.

The woman there copied all of this highly personal data to send in electronically with my application. One week later, I get a letter in the mail asking for all of the same info. They never received it. PNC sent highly confidential info off into no-man's-land, and they have no idea where it is. Their so-called "executive client relations" sent me an email with instructions to contact someone to "investigate". Both the email and the phone# they provided were wrong. This bank cannot find its butt with both hands and a flashlight. Worse, if you provide them with highly confidential personal data, they cannot find that either. These people are dangerous. Their website is a mess. It's badly overloaded, ridiculously complicated and confusing. I've been working professionally with computers since 1987, and I find their website too confusing and, even worse, very buggy. It's hard to find there what I need. The interface does not remind any other banking interface I'm familiar with. It produces senseless error messages. Just one example: I tried to set up transfers to my external account with a credit union. Entered all required information. They said they will make 2 test deposits to my external account, which I will have to verify. They did and I verified it, having both accounts on my huge split screen. Their system rejected my correct responses regarding those tests deposits 3 times and then locked me out. And completely removed any reference to my credit union account from my account on PNC website.
Today I tried it once again. When I entered all the information pertaining to my external (credit union) account, the message on screen said: "You have already set up this external account". OMG. I started a chat with their customer service rep. Stephanie. Instead of helping me to overcome their system bug, she tried to teach me to clear browser cache or try another browser (their website is equally flawed with any and all major browsers) and said I need to call their tech support.
PNC should know that other banks and CU's employ qualified personnel and train them to solve customer problems, not direct them to keep working and working for free, trying to overcome their, PNC bank's mistakes. Avoid PNC Bank. It's a waste of time and health (my blood pressure rises each time I try to transact on their website, or talk to their CSR reps.)

All of sudden November 2021 I have received a statement from PNC stating I have a balance of $94.00. I called PNC at least 20 times. I spoke to different customer service people and they can't figure out why I have a balance. It's so frustrating, what a freaking nightmare! I even talked to their dispute department several times in the month of December 2021. I explained to them the entire scenario. They told me that they are going to submit a dispute but then it's just going into a circle. They just keep passing me around to different dept and now I keep getting a phone call/text from their collection debt dept. I hope PNC will go out on business. I HATE HATE HATE PNC!

Well, my assistance helping my friend SW through all the paperwork involved in the recent death of her husband on Feb. 16 has been very difficult. Though he left a will with her as the sole beneficiary, the amount of paperwork involved in switching accounts and loans and retirement benefits to her name has been an exercise in frustration. Even finding the account numbers of some things has been very difficult.
Case in point his account with PNC Bank for the loan on his Dodge Ram truck. We could find his account number nowhere. The monthly loan installment was being taken directly out of his checking account. We called them to get the number but they refused and said we needed to visit a bank of theirs and present certain documents. We did this today and they copied them all, then said it would take 5 to 7 business days for their legal team to go over the docs before they'd release his account number.
An hour later the bank called saying they need additional documents, namely a court order showing the Last Will and Testament of her husband is a valid document. 0_o THAT document was prepared by their lawyer in 2006 and is an official document signed by their lawyer and stamped by a notary and it's not good enough for PNC. 0_o I guess it's time to have her visit her lawyer again. And all just so she can get his account number and the balance owed on the truck so she can pay it off. 0_o Moral of the story, do NOT lose your account number for this bank and make sure you have your loan well documented for your family in case of emergency.

(Spend, Reserve & Growth) I couldn’t be more happier and thankful. PNC is the absolute BEST, BEST, BEST bank I have ever been with, customer service is extraordinary, great branch & ATM locations nationwide, and my local branch is phenomenal.
Since I’ve been with them I haven’t been stressed, or had any issues with them whatsoever. As a person who was not on a great financial path, PNC has helped me dramatically. I started off with their SmartAccess Prepaid Card, and then gradually transferred to Virtual Wallet. This bank has everything you need in a financial institution and TRUST ME they will get you where you want to be. Better financially, building credit, financing a car, or home, getting a loan, and much more. THIS IS THE BANK TO GO! I highly, highly recommend them.

On a Friday in December holiday. I walked up to ATM at PNC Bank. I tried to get 800.00 out. The ATM started having code like verbiage on screen. So I cancelled transaction. I tried 500.00. The same thing happened. But this time it dispensed a receipt that had coding on it like the screen. I left after that. Over the weekend checking my account I noticed 500.00 was deducted out of account. On that following Monday I went to the same bank and showed them my receipt that came out of ATM. They filed a dispute because they would have to review it. Had to wait 10 business days. I suggested they look at camera cos I didn't take any money. This whole process is still going on since December. They keep putting me off saying they are reviewing it. From one representative to another.
I still haven't gotten my money back. This is so insane. A big bank like this. Seems like being racist. No one I talk to seems like they want to help you. But don't. How can you take someone's money claiming I took it because the only thing they checked was the ATM balance for that day. It came out correctly like all transactions for that day balanced out. I told them when I was leaving another car pulled up as I was leaving. I sure they got it. Cos nothing dispensed while I was there. About to check up on small claims court for maximum amount against them.
