We had a 3 year car loan with PNC. We have excellent credit and paid in a timely manner. Several payments were not made by due but were within the date before interest would be charged. Received phone call from bank threatening us with interest charges even though I gave customer service my payment info. These payments were made online and delay was through bank transfer. The rep was EXTREMELY RUDE. I even gave her confirmation numbers. If this is how PNC treats their good customers can’t imagine how they treat others who did not make timely payments for whatever reason. Furthermore, cannot imagine their reps enjoying their jobs. Calling and harassing customers certainly can’t be a gratifying career. Basically would never use this bank based on my experience and reading the reviews of many other dissatisfied customers.

PNC Bank that I had relations with since 1982 has been NOW Closed. I had nothing but trouble. I even had them manage my retirement account. I will close ALL remains accounts with PNC (last one with zero balance is Home Equity line of credit). What is wrong:
2. Bank hoards money after receiving ing it for one more day.....Unacceptable.
3. Arrogance.
4. Final: Why do I even need a bank? My Brokerage does everything a bank can do except receive cash deposits. Brokerage offer 24/7 service, pays higher interest on my balance, is always available, does not charge for wire and on top of that I do not have to constantly provide documents.
GOOD RIDDANCE!

My mortgage is through PNC Bank and I have had nothing but trouble when my loan was purchase by them. Within a few months, my monthly payment amount increased by over $100 with no warning, even though I have a fixed rate. Their website to make online payments is a joke. I have to reset my password every single time even though I know it's right. Even after resetting, it still does not work and you get an error message. EVERY time.
Now, let's get to the loan forbearance program they offer during COVID-19. They will allow you to defer your payments for 90 days then pay the entire lump sum at the the end of the 90 days plus the current month's payment. That's 4 months of mortgage payments all at once. This is their idea of a relief program? How in the world is that supposed to help anyone? If I had money to cover 4 months worth of mortgage payments then I wouldn't need forbearance, now would I? When asked if the payments can go to the end of the loan period they said no. The rep on the phone said to use the stimulus check to pay the lump sum mortgage payment. How ridiculous!
The stimulus check cannot cover a lump sum of this magnitude! And everyone does not get a stimulus check. How is it their place to advise what to do with one's stimulus check, anyway? How unprofessional. I can't wait to refinance my mortgage with a different lender. I will NOT give one more penny to a socially unconscious organization like PNC. Just another greedy bank making millions off of the working class with zero empathy. I'm getting on the phone ASAP to see who else can service my mortgage loan.

I find PNC customer service hard to navigate to get to the right department without going through a lot of prompts and transfers to other departments. I paid my line of credit payment on 3/4, it was due 3/10. PNC posted it to a suspense account for some unknown reason. I noticed this when I got my statement on 3/24. I immediately called them as it said I was $707 past due and owed $1414 on the next payment. After an hour and a half on the phone, being transferred to 3 people, and all 3 were rude, I was told PNC would correct their error in 3-5 days and I would get a call. No call came.
I called back and was told the error was not corrected and they hadn’t posted my payment. Now it would take another 7 days. I waited and called back on 4/6 to inquire as my payment for 4/10 for $707 is due in 4 days and need to pay it. They still haven’t posted my payment from 3/4, they’ve held it in suspense for 33 days, and admit none of my previous calls generated a request to move the payment from suspense into my account. Now, it’s going to be another 5 days! This is incompetence. I’ve spent hours and hours of my time notifying PNC of their error of which they haven’t corrected it! Don’t waste your time with this company!

I have been a customer with PNC for 15 years. During that time, with a few exceptions, the service has always been a letdown. I will not go into the details, suffice to say that I was so disappointed with their inability to help their customer. I am closing all my accounts. My advice would be to continue looking for a bank that puts its customers first, that is why I am looking for a new bank.

BEWARE of the Virtual Wallet Scam. Before opening a PNC account consider going elsewhere. They charged my daughter $25 a month on a student account, they discontinued paying interest on my savings account because even though they tell you that they link accounts for a "relationship" rate they do not. They will charge you $7.50 if you lose a card. Do not believe anyone in a branch because they have no idea what they are doing or what products they actually have to offer. They do not follow their own online documentation and they will "talk to their back office" like a used car salesman to give you a million reasons for their fees. Unless you want to throw your money away STAY AWAY!

PNC Bank are crooks. They implement policies to ensure that they can collect additional money. If the savings account is supposed to be overdraft protection account and there is $0.00 in the account and the transaction that I am attempting to purchase will overdraw the account, why allow the transaction to go through? Let me answer the way...because it will be $36.00 each time. And they package it as if they are doing you a huge favor by allowing the transaction to clear when that is DEFINITELY NOT a favor to me. I would simply just use another debit card. It makes you angry when an $8.00 purchase ends up costing you $44.00 because your bank let an unnecessary transaction clear.
Furthermore, the banking app gives an available balance that you cannot trust. And when I spoke to the representative about the account, he tried to throw in something about the weekend. For the past two days, the account was showing $7.76 and today it is overdrawn by $84.21 with $72.00 in overdraft fees. And when I saw the card was running low, I moved it to another part of my wallet to ensure it was not used by mistake. The reason that I am so angry is because PNC is not even my main bank account. This is poor customer service at its finest. The bank card was cut into 4 pieces while on the phone with the representative and every intention on closing the account ASAP. I definitely do not recommend them!

I have been with PNC since 2010, and never had an issue with the Bank, In fact when people ask me about my experience with PNC Bank I always tell them that it’s been excellent and I would highly recommend it. BUT I realize yesterday that the only reason I haven't had an issue with PNC bank, is because I've never needed customer service until yesterday and the customer service at PNC BANK IS THE WORST I HAVE SEEN, next to Verizon. Let me explain why I am so anger with this BANK.
Me and my wife are in one of the happiest stages of our life, we are buying our first home. We have been shopping for some time, but we found one we LOVE and put in an offer. We were beyond happy when our offer was accepts and to seal the deal on the new home, we put down a $5000 dollar. So, I wrote a check (maybe the first check I've ever written). Anyways the check when thru and the money has been taken out my account. Me and my wife have been celebrating for a few days and telling all of our friends and family about our new home. Anyway, I checked on the account late last night and to my surprise I have more than I was expecting...(weird) Why do I have more money in my account than I was expecting. Scrolled down to see what the issue and there it was... THE CHECK BOUNCED due to IRREGULAR SIGNATURE.
I want to make this perfectly clear; I WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THIS ISSUE. NO CALL, NO EMAIL, NO TEXT...and in my option I should've received all 3. I immediately call customer service, to which I tell them I need this check to go thru, and explain that I am in the processes of buying a home and can’t have the bounce, the person I spoke to basically told me there is nothing she can do and I will have to redo the check. I will be leaving this bank ASAP....NOT ONLY WAS I NOT CONTACTED about this issue, I lost the home :(...SO I will be leaving this bank, and advise anyone that is considering this bank to STAY AWAY, Because when you need them they will NOT be there to help you.

I had a previous driver's license and 3 other forms of recognized ID. Manager told me to go to d m v, spend the $25 and get a driver's license before they would give me my money. The manager knew me, the 2 loan officers knew me. I went to Bessemer PNC and was given satisfactory service and showed other forms of ID like Alabama Medicaid and Blue Cross, and I got my money. I opened a PNC virtual wall of account so I would have a bank to put money in and cash checks from where I'm selling my salon equipment. I am currently waiting on disability. I almost died. I received a check for $1,800 for one of my tanning beds. The check got wet and you could not see my name. It also tore so I of course put my name on there. Deposited it in the ATM machine. No problem. Then they froze my whole account. My money that I had transferred there from my PayPal is the only money I had. I can understand them wanting to verify the check. That is no problem putting a hold on it but to freeze my whole account and then when I call them act like that I done something wrong and that the check is not even real.
Treating me like a criminal is not good customer service nor the fact that they froze my money that I can't even get gas to go to the doctor. And I explained all this to them and they're telling me they don't even know if I go to a branch if I can even get my money that's not associated with the check back. So this is just a way of them to scam people get a hold of their money and not give it back. I have never had such bad horrible treatment in all my life. I would never ever recommend this bank.

I have been a customer of PNC Bank for many years. I have always written checks to my children and grandchildren for special occasions. This week I received a call from my son asking me if I knew the bank was charging to cash my personal checks. They have not in the past so I said no. He said he went into my bank because he was doing business right next to it so he thought he would cash the birthday check I gave him. They ask for photo ID (normal), they ask for a credit card and wrote down all his information. WHY?? They then said they would cash the check for a $2 fee!
Now I have never been notified that the policy was changed nor would anyone all the way up the ladder tell me why they needed his credit card information. They told me the same thing they told my son "bank has to make money too". The bank interest is a joke. I keep around $10,000 in my checking and earn about 11 cents a month interest yet they charge $2 min per personal check cashed at the branch. I am soon to be an ex/customer.

If I could give fewer stars, I would. PNC Bank NA will swindle as much money as possible from their customers. Their idea of customer service is a string of insincere apologies. In an age of instant communication they use the most antiquated forms of communication possible. Forms are not available online, nor can they be emailed. Anything to benefit the customer has to be done via snail mail, so it can be misapplied when posted.
The only payments accepted online are monthly payments. I called to find out how to make additional principal payments and was told "You will have to mail in a check with apply to principal written on the memo line.". I did this and every time it is applied as a 2nd monthly payment and large portions credited to interest on the loan and not the principal.
I called to have PMI dropped from my loan when it reached 67% of the appraised value. On the phone I was told "No problem, we will get that taken care of." but a month later when saw the payment still coming out of my account and called, and was told "A letter was mailed with a form and you will have to pay for an appraisal." I contacted them via phone, if what I was told was not correct, I feel a phone call is in order, not a letter! Additionally, I never received the alleged letter nor the form. Now I will be waiting for another form, because I can't request the appraisal online, and more money will dissipate as I wait for them to get their story straight, mail me the required form and arrange an appraisal. All I can say is, if you are doing business with PNC Bank NA, you better be watching your accounts like a hawk!!!

I opened a PNC account when I moved to Pittsburgh for college. When I graduated and started work, I began using the bank that my company uses. My account was left inactive for years until it dipped under the PNC minimum. Once this happened they began to change me a $25 fee every month. I used to check the account every few months to make sure something like this didn't happen. The frequency that I checked eventually dropped to every half a year or something. One day when I was checking the account and I wasn't able to log in and said I had to reset my password. My debit card was years expired so I wasn't able to reset the password with going to the bank or calling. I put this as low priority and a few months I finally went to the bank to take care of this problem.
For ten months PNC charged me this fee. PNC put no effort to contact me or put a hold on the account. Their plan was to withdrawal from the account till it got to zero. Such a dishonest and criminal bank to try robbing their customers like this. Of course it is my fault for not checking more frequently. But after 3 or 6 months of no account activity while getting these fees they should have put a hold on the account or did something responsible. For all they know I could have been dead while they are busy taking all of the money from my account.

After a money transfer I didn't receive any statement so I TRIED to set up my online banking which I could not do for 2 days. Something with the verification to which I kept getting code after code (horrible online banking). Finally on the 3rd day I set it up and my due date for my first payment had passed a day before, so guess what? Late fee. I explained to them what happened via email and they said they will waive it for been the first time, guess what? They didn't and they said, "Sorry we can't do it. It's already charged." So I paid.
Following month tried paying on due date in the morning, guess what? Could not because it was a Sunday and only gave me the option for Monday. I asked for help. They responded next day. Guess what? Late fee. They said I should set up auto payments. I don't think I should have to. I have about 10 credit cards over 25 years and never had problems.. I'm paying the balance transfer and closing PNC card. HORRIBLE ONLINE BANKING.

Each time I called and spoke with a different agent I got a different answer. I was most confused on the window of using my debit card in order to receive the highest interest. I always wrote down who I spoke with and what their answer was. When I first opened my account for both checking and savings the agent gave me my two receipts. I did not check the numbers on the account only the correct money that had been deposited into what I was told both checking and money market savings. Imagine my surprise when I went to my new branch in a different state that all my money had been put into a checking account where I received nothing. Yet the clerk at my previous bank gave me two different receipts.
I might add I had deposited a large check from the sale of my home and filled out both a deposit for checking and savings. I have had nothing but confusion and frustration with PNC and seriously feel they will go to any level it takes to keep from paying out interest. I am leaving them and advise anyone and everyone don't fall for their promotions and misleading come-ons to get your money into their greedy hands. They say they record all phone calls but when I told them I also was recording they refused to continue our conversation. Overall, we have had good experiences with this bank until now. We have noticed lately that when they overdraft from our Reserve account into our Spend account, they tell us they take Y but actually they take DOUBLE that amount from our goals section. The first time it happened and we noticed, the money re-appeared a few days later just hanging out in available. The second time, it never did. I called Online Banking and got to speak to an elderly gentleman who had clearly never even used online banking -he basically told me I make no sense and my ledger looks fine. I became frustrated so he bumped it up to another team. They called me and were equally useless. At this point I started to think I was losing my mind, so I left it alone.
The third time it happened, I TOOK PICTURES. I took pictures of everything, and went to my bank. The banker had no idea how to use these features in virtual wallet (specifically the goals section) and so I had to wait to speak to the manager. I emailed them all of the attachments etc so that she would be prepared. I called the day of my appointment to make sure she reviewed the files before I got there. I get there and she tells me she was too busy and doesn't open attachments anyway. So I go through the whole thing, again. She tells me she doesn't really ever use these features and can't help me. She offers to call Online Banking for me like I was some sort of dope. I told her to go ahead. She calls and ends up getting so frustrated with them she hangs up and tells me they are not able to help (NO KIDDING!). There is nobody else for her to escalate to.
The best advice was to "leave feedback." Ok well here you go PNC -you are literally STEALING and have 0 capable customer service. Here is your feedback. **I also tried to contact them via Instagram hoping someone more tech savvy was available, but, you guessed it, it was pointless. A major national bank with a fully rolled out product -that nobody in the bank uses or knows how to use or has a team to troubleshoot. Conveniently this product never magically appears money INTO my account, just OUT of.

If that wasn’t bad enough, they continued to appeal the verdict, continued lying, & got away with theft. So thankful I finally got confused enough with PNCs evil tactics!!! I have a very labor intensive job that I work hard for every dollar I earn but PNC obviously feels otherwise. I chose to open an account with them due to the promotional offer they made to receive $300 credit in doing so. Shame on me for not realizing that of itself was probably a warning sign of something too good to be true! But that's not even the best part. Never received a dime credited to my account! After being charged very random $15 service fees I decided to give their customer service a test.
I figured maybe if I could speak with a good agent about never receiving my $300 credit for opening the account it would help compensate for said fees. Upon speaking with an agent by telephone she never even attempted to give me any sort of explanation. She told me that it was an issue that a separate department would have to review and call me back at some unspecified date."Strange" is the idea that came to mind. I accepted it as another loss and went about focusing on my own job instead.
For the final issue is my favorite! In the past 2+ years I have had my account open with them and weekly direct deposits sent there I can no longer keep track of how many times they have manipulated my account balance to cause me to be charged overdraft fees. I wanted to blame myself at first for not being disciplined enough with my spending habits. It finally got to be too much of an issue and too expensive to ignore! Virtual Wallet!! LOL! Virtual deception is a better description.
They add. Subtract. Credit. Charge fees. Then more fees, fees!!! Just in a random enough order that if you're busy enough. Work enough. Frequently make purchases with the ugly orange and black debit card they issue you then it makes it easier to doubt or blame yourself instead of waste time dealing with customer service that basically is non-existent. I now get the pleasure of spending my limited personal time away from work going through old statements reviewing charges and fees that they swindled me out of.

I had an auto loan with PNC in end of Nov 2019. I tried a fund transfer from another bank account to PNC to pay for one part of the loan on Dec 16. After online initialization I could not see the schedule transfer from PNC account. I called PNC, they said I should contact my other bank (weird). I turned out that transfer didn't go through from my other bank side. I then called PNC again, told them the transfer didn't go through. But PNC kept saying it was paid. I then made another transfer and paid the the remaining. PNC then closed my account. I called them. They said it's paid off. Regardless that I said I wanted to pay the amount of first transfer, they insisted it's paid off.
On Dec 31, I found my PNC bank account is re-open. They charged another month of interest on my loan. I have called at least 5 or 6 times, trying to make the payment. I even went to the local branch. Same answer. They just ignored it. It seems to me they tried their best to keep your loan stay as long as possible by kicking the ball to the other bank.

I opened a Premier Savings account on-line with several large deposits from the sale of my house, to be held until I repurchased. When I wanted to take money out, it was nearly impossible. Spent nearly 2 hours on the phone with cust. service, but no satisfaction there. Withdrawals are only allowed as restricted amounts and may be held for 3-4 days "to clear". It would have taken more than two weeks to transfer all the money out given the restrictions and it would have blown the purchase of my new home. In order to get a wire transfer of all my money I had to drive 50 miles each way from CT to NJ to get my money back. Nothing but a run-around on the phone and a circuitous telephone system. This is the worst customer experience I've ever had with a financial institution, except for Experian, of course. FYI - I made similar withdrawals from my E-Trade and Goldman Sachs accounts in about 1 minute each with no hassle.

I have a loan on my truck through PNC. I bought this truck brand new in 2014 and have made $500.00 a month payments on time every month since. As I'm getting toward the end I thought I noticed my balance no longer decreasing. I chalked it up to me just seeing things for a month or two but this last month I made sure to check it. I had about $3300 left when I submitted yet another $500.oo payment. I logged back in to check after the payment was taken from my account and it showed about $2800.00 as it should have. This time when I logged in it now shows $3300.00 again so now I'm wondering how many times this has happened.
I called in twice to the loan department only to be told they can't see the starting balance for each month and that someone would call me back. I tried to log in online to the pnc site and could not so I called again. The rep this time told me I would have to wait 3 days for a password!!?? You mean you can't reset that from over the phone!? It's almost 2020. I can pay off my house with an app off my Samsung but you can't reset a password for online banking!? Seems like a stupid thing to be angry about but I wanted it reset before I went over the due date only to be told, "No, we can't do that." So now I have to make another payment so it's not late and PNC can't/won't verify the balance amounts except by mail.... Never doing any kind of business with PNC again.

I was told, on a recorded line, the stop payment has been applied & I will see a $30 charge on my next payment. Shortly after, I noticed the $300 check cleared. I called PNC & they told me they would view the recorded tape & call me in a few days. I just received a call from PNC. They heard the tape which confirmed the stop payment.
However, the PNC representative did not fully initiate the return. Therefore, the stop payment was not effectively processed. She (PNC representative) said I should have called 3 days after the check issuance instead of the same day to stop payment. This is nonsense. Why would it be advisable to wait longer to stop payment on a check. Furthermore, she advised me to take the matter to small claims court for $300? This is all you need to know about PNC. My wife and I requested a simple HELOC renewal to take advantage of a lower interest rate and now five months later we had to abandon the entire renewal because of significant incompetence by PNC Bank's underwriting department. As a result of the treatment received from PNC we moved all of our personal, business, retirement and insurance assets to another institution. We will be closing our loan out as well soon. This was a tough decision because we really liked our personal banker but the level of incompetence in the loan process was too much to overlook.
Here are the major issues we encountered that factored into our decision to leave PNC:
1. Loan application was modified by PNC without our knowledge or consent. They inappropriately excluded my salary.
2. Desk appraisal review conducted by PNC resulted in a lower valuation than the original appraisal done by PNC in 2015. The appraisal was substandard, lacked proper comps and yet concluded the value of the property was lower even though all of the properties within the immediate area have increased over the last 4 years. Valuation was even lower than the tax appraisal which made no logical sense.
3. PNC chose to communicate significant conclusions by mail as opposed to calling us to discuss the problems they ran into which were self inflicted by PNC.
Avoid PNC for any banking or lending needs. There is no transparency or communication.

Been banking with PNC since they opened their first branch in east Orlando. For over 10 years I've had to defend my account from PNC's predator like actions. I can recall an interest bearing account that they created that self borrowed and self paid, as if non existent, no information on the account was ever available at local branch. It took over 45 min hold time and several attempts before I ever got thru to a bank rep; they do this on a regular basis to make it difficult to make a payment. Late fees and overdraft fees are excessive. On fixed income, they've taken every dollar for past 2 months. Having funds in my account of several hundred dollars, as of the date of this review, I have no access to my funds, they closed my account, keeping my money.
I would not recommend this bank unless perhaps you've got billions, don't mind funds being diverted from your account into theirs, and lots of free time to spend on hold whenever you call then they transfer the call. 2 times replacement credit cards said to be delivered in 24 hours took over a week. PNC bank like many others will probably go belly up too due to greed, poor ethics and just plain bad service. Orlando, FL

There's a reason why we closed our accounts with PNC Bank. Came into one of their branches to cash a check which was drawn off their customer accounts. Even though the money was in the person's account and the check was drawn on their own funding and there would be zero cost, they wanted to hit me with a $200 fee for cashing a check in. They knew who we were because we had a few accounts with them, one person knew us immediately, they pretended like we weren't in the system which is a lie because they have to keep us on file for 7 years.
They said I would have to open an account and deposit the check if I wanted to avoid the fee, then they'll pull the typical BS saying there would be a 5 to 7 day hold on new accounts even though again the check is being drawn off their own Bank. They said if I wanted to avoid the fee, that the person who wrote the check would have to write me 3 separate checks totalling under $3,000 each. Walked out the bank, never to return.

I have been a loyal customer at PNC for approximately 10 years. Recently I became an LLC and had to open a new business account. I met with Pratik ** at the Ellicott City location and started the account. While doing this Pratik told me I should look into the Cash Flow Insight and the Clover options. I made an appointment with him to discuss these options. He did not show for our appointment so I met with his boss Alisa ** instead. She informed me that the Cash Flow insight was not a good option for my business and that I could talk with the Clover rep. Lisa ** to discuss that option.
So Lisa, the Clover rep, came into Alisa’s office and spoke very fast and mentioned a small payment of 30 dollars and swore how Clover was so much better and cheaper than Square I already was using. I never held the contract in my hand, it was all verbal and very confusing and she had me sign her tablet. It wasn’t until a week later when I got the contract in the mail that I actually could read the agreement and realize that I had been conned.
Now let me explain to you what I do. I do home improvements. I average 1 charge per year. I asked several times to both Lisa’s, “ Is Clover a better fit and cheaper for my business?” They both answered “Yes” every time. In my business when I am not comfortable doing a project I get a professional in that field (Plumbers, HVAC, Electric. Etc.) to advise me. I am not comfortable making business decisions about charge cards and cash flow insights so I ask the experts – like my bank business manager. I just did what was suggested and I signed her tablet (I never actually signed a complete written agreement) because I trusted her like I would my doctor, plumber, etc.
When I got the lease agreement in the mail and saw the terms I asked how can this be better and cheaper for me when Square is free? After reviewing the lease my wife agreed that this was not a good option for me and what’s worse it NEVER will or could be because I rarely take credit cards. I have taken like 5 credit cards in 10 years of being in business. I tried to cancel the lease agreement but was told in no uncertain terms that’s it’s IMPOSSIBLE. That God himself could not get out of this agreement.
So now I feel I have to make my experience known to everyone so they too don’t get swindled out of their hard earned money like I did. I have been around for a while being 58 yrs old and I have to say this is the most unethical action I have had the displeasure of being a part of. Needless to say I am going fight this with everything available to me including the CFPB and the BBB as well as mass media and any and every other method I can find.

Later that night I obtained my card and proceeded to login and make my payment. I found out that my payment would post the next day instead of the day that I attempted to make the payment due to a 5pm cut off. I called customer service and was rudely handled by a representative who failed to even acknowledge the trouble I was going through just to make a payment. I asked if the representative could process the payment the day of since I was calling to pay on the date my bill was due and was told this was not an option.
I have many other bank relationships and never I have I ever been treated so unfairly and then slapped with a $38.00 late fee even though I was trying to pay the bill the date it was due. I was told that they only waive the late fee once every 12 months which I apparently had been given before. There was absolutely no discretion given because I was actually trying to make my payment the day of…I was locked out of my account. There should be an option to pay even if a nominal fee is attached so that it’s processed the same day. This puts PNC to make huge profits on customers who are making an honest living and working hard to pay their debt. This is egregious and needs to change asap.
There should be a cut off time extended to midnight or a way to process the payment over the phone the same day. I am very unpleased with how PNC has handled my situation. I even spoke with an escalation manager-Kelsey ** who seemed to be totally unmoved and robotically repeating policy instead of using discretion to treat customers fairly. The person on the phone told me the 0% interest only applied to balance transfers not purchases and If I pay 100% of the balance they would remove my interest. I told her fine so I moved money from my investments account to my bank to pay off the whole account.
When I called back to remove the interest they refused. One Lady said that, "Oh we already removed the interest because we gave you $150 sign up bonus. PNC can be classified as the most well known bank in the Pittsburgh, PA area. I was with them for about five years, I had some issues with them, and transferred to a new bank. I decided to give them another chance and signed up with them again in January. When I signed up in January, I was told the student virtual wallet account would be the most beneficial for me. I was only in college for another three months at the time and I didn't think it was a good idea but the woman sold me on the account so I opened one. I now learn that I need to have this account open for 6 years or I will be charged a penalty fee. I was not made aware of this at the time of opening. I was told I could change it at any time. I have learned that banks have sales goals so I guess this woman was just focused on her sales goals and not what was best for me. STRIKE ONE.
Recently, I was in the process of paying my car payment through their bill pay site. I was paying it at night so I transferred funds from my growth account into my spend, paid my bill and went to bed. The next day I realized I should have transferred the funds to my reserve account because that is where my car payment was coming from. I realized this at 11:30 that night. I quickly transferred funds and I thought I was covered. Fast forward the next day and I get hit with a $36 returned item fee. I got this taken care of, explained my situation, I got refunded my money and I thought everything was okay.
I log into my PNC account a week later and notice they tried to take my payment again a WEEK LATER. I had just transferred the funds out of the reserve account because I thought if they hadn't tried in a couple days, they were done trying. I got charged another $36 fee and this time they will not refund it. I was told it should have tried to take it out that Monday instead of Wednesday, they don't know why that happened, but they won't refund my money.
They have now not only lost me, but both my parents as customers as well. My dad has been with PNC for over 30 years and he has chosen to transfer to a local credit union that is more customer focused. Unfortunately, once these companies become so big, they are out to get their customers and not understand that mistakes do happen. Over the last 20 years, My companies on average ran $500,000/mo through this bank. Some companies are larger and others (such as the property holding company in question) have few transactions a year. Because less than 10 payments are made in a year all transactions were done online. After 9 years of no issues, this year PNC send a tax payment on the day it was supposed to have been delivered and it did not make it to the municipality until 5 days after the deadline resulting in a large penalty. I called and reported the issue to the dept in charge and they said they would take care of it. I reminded them that additional penalties would accrue if not handled by the end of the month and offered to pay the penalty while it was "being handled" to avoid further charges and was told not to do that.
Two days too late to avoid additional penalties I was informed by letter that my dispute was being closed because the municipality refused to waive the charges. I called PNC and spoke to two people who "understood" that my complaint was with the bank and not the municipality and then waited 55 minutes on the phone for a "supervisor" to finally tell me point blank they were not responsible and would do nothing since the terms and conditions of online bill pay exclude tax payments from their on time guaranty.
True I never read the terms and conditions but this goes back 9 years when I set up the account and the bank person knew what payments this company made and suggested I do everything online and did not order checks for that reason; 9 years this worked; clearly someone there was negligent in not sending the payment when requested and yet, not only do they refuse responsibility, they take 4 weeks to do so, keep me on the phone for almost an hour and end up telling me something they could have wrongfully relied upon on day one!!! and saved me from paying additional fees and penalties that they caused. I have been through several banks over the years but never have I had to leave one for reasons and circumstances as bad as this. This bank has changed and no longer deserves the business of any organization as it clearly couldn't care less about its customers.

I secured a loan through PnC a few months back for a car purchase. So far so good, we had some issues with getting a pin set up for auto payment. Long story short we figured it out and got it working. That I don’t mind. What grinds my gear is for a couple of months I had to pay by phone until then, of course I understand there is a fee with that, again don’t mind and was told and advised there would be one.
However at the end of September I was given a late notice for late fees. Now, if something is my responsibility, then I own it good or bad. My problem is when they have the information in front of them and fail to advise you of said fees when you are paying your monthly amount. Had I known, I would have paid right there and then. I don’t care if you send things in mail, you have the information in front of you, advise your customers instead of being greedy and trying to let this stuff rack up. Then when going to pay said late fees, you are trying to also get another payment multiple weeks in advance. All you cared about was collecting a payment instead of better practicing customer service. Needs better practices, no different than the National City days. Once this loan is paid, I’ll never do business with them again.

Claims department manage the requests and dispute without NEVER communicating with the customer. You call and customer service never have concrete information and always says “claims department is working on that”. I request several times to be called and give me an explanation, never happened. The bank forgot the money on the account belongs to the customer and a claim or dispute is at the end the customer money and needs. This is simple. PNC have the WORST customer service and claims department, they can’t care less. This is simple, look and the reviews and you will see what I mean.

The employees of the branch we use were very courteous while we filled out affidavits and police reports etc. However, the main office has failed to even send a letter acknowledging this and even though we're told our money is secure with PNC and they will cover this amount, six months later have not heard anything. I think six months time is a little extreme to wait when they let this happen.

I am a very experienced credit card user, and a Chief Executive of a mid-size company. As a new customer to PNC Bank credit card, there was an error in address on the first statement, of which a $25 charge was incurred however our company never received a statement with a due date. The following month, of which of $14K was spent, a charge for $39 was added to the invoice. As has been my experience with every other credit card service I have used, some courtesy would be extended in the name of customer service, to eliminate the initial late fee due to the mistake (which was from the PNC Bank) for sending the statement to a wrong address.
But to my surprise, neither to original agent, nor the escalated customer service agent would do anything to eliminate the late fee. Way to treat a new customer! Remember, it was not my fault that the statement was not delivered to the correct address, so my accounting had no idea when the due date (or even that there was any balance due) was to be. Terrible customer service with very bad business sense! I am reconsidering my thoughts of using PNC Bank for my business at all.

I use to be PNC customer but then switched banks because PNC would charge me a bunch of fees all for just checking a balance when I had a PNC account and THEY were overdrafting my account. I am no longer a PNC Customer. I switched to Key Bank. When I was coming back from filling out paper work for my new job I had checked my balance at the ATM at the T Station (Pittsburgh's Subway transportation), and it was owned by PNC. Now I did not do a print receipt because last time I did a balance check and did a printed receipt I was charged $10.00 for ONE TIME and there was no mention of a fee. Again there was no mentioning on the screen about a surcharge or a fee.
A few days ago I went to deposit $17.00 into my bank account with Key Bank. When I asked for a balance inquiry my available balance was $34.50. I only used my card one time to make a purchase. I should have had around at least $28 in my bank account. I attempted to make a purchase at Arby's but my card was declined 5 times. I thought it was a chip issue and so I went to my bank to check the balance. All of a sudden I had $8.40. I asked for a print out from the teller starting back August. I was given a statement and I saw that PNC Bank charged $21.00 for CHECKING A BALANCE.
We called PNC to report Fraud on their end and they made up a false story saying that I checked my balance 7 times in a single day, and that they charge a $3.00 fee for checking a balance. Most banks if it is not your bank they do NOT charge a fee for a balance inquiry. I only checked my balance ONE TIME at that a PNC ATM that single day. They charged $21.00. PNC is nothing but a fraud. They don't care about the customers. They only care about money. Don't ever use PNC because they are a Fraudulent Company.

No, No, and No. DO NOT put your hard earned money into their hands! I had 2 accounts with them. The remaining active account is about to be closed by me, because I honestly cannot take anymore. This bank is horrible!! Not only have I paid $100's, if not more, in overdraft fees, but they also decided to close the account I don't actively use because THEY overdrafted it. Then they have the nerve to charge me overdraft fees and place a debt on me. Nobody told me this was going on, and trust me, they had their chance when I had to keep calling about the main account constantly having money disappear within 24 hours.
My balance was $90 one time, the next day my card was declined and the account was overdrawn. How in the world would 3 to 4 charges on my debit card suddenly come out the same day?! These were charges made in a 2 week time span at different stores, or utility bills. As if all of these people are going to get together on the same day, take your money, and overdraft you, once again. That is PNC, not them.
The "posted," line they use is a bunch of bull to make people overdraft on purpose. Giving the illusion you have a little money to spend, when you really don't. You are expected to pay what you owe and a $36 fee, if not multiple fees. This can really add up for anyone that lives paycheck to paycheck. I pay them more money than I spend on basic necessities these days, and go without all the time!
This place deserves to be sued for their unethical practices. It's always going to be YOUR fault, no matter what happens. That is how they will treat you. I don't know what in the world they were thinking when they decided to start treating the customers so horribly. It didn't use to be this way. Years ago, if you had insufficient funds, your card was declined. End of story! Not anymore. Now, they are all about bleeding you dry over practically nothing more than a few bucks. I can't wait to watch this bank go out of business. Trust me, it's coming. Everyone will eventually leave over this. I wouldn't want to be with them, even if I had millions. Simply because they keep taking your money with hidden fees and fraudulent practices. It's impossible to save any money with this bank.
I hardly ever write reviews, but there are just some things people shouldn't mess with, and MONEY is always #1 on the list. PNC deserves all of these bad reviews to warn unsuspecting people. They are flat out robbing everyone. For those sarcastic, "know it all's," out there, budgeting has absolutely nothing to do with what is happening to people at PNC. You cannot budget for surprise hidden fees, or being charged twice for the same thing. How can you explain an account being bled dry to the point of overdrafting that wasn't being touched? You can't! Get it?.. Got it?.. Good!!!

PNC Bank Credit Card Department has charged me Fee's on top of Fee's for one transaction where I accidentally chose to Bill Pay instead of transfer. I was charged two $27 fees ON TOP of a $36 Fee. This all happened because I used the Pay Your Bill Today function which tried to draw my payment from my SPEND (Checking Account) to pay for my Credit Card bill- The accounts are LINKED, therefore, as a consumer, I should have received an error when trying to process the payment that would read 'insufficient funds' to process payment; however, they still put the payment through and therefore incur numerous fee's such as the bounced check fee and returned check fee.
I was charged a total of $90 in fees. They did return two of the fees, but not until I called and begged them to return as a courtesy. I've been a long time supporter of PNC bank, even after relocating to the West in a different state. I have had this card about two months. Their "online banking" is, to put it mildly, Kafkaesque. After hours on the phone, wasting hours of my very limited time in my busy season, I still cannot view my full balance nor make payments online. The newest development is that I will be mailed possibly my fifth online banking PIN, along with the others that led nowhere. I'm locked out of getting a PIN over the phone because of these previous failures of their system so now have to wait "3-5" days for ANOTHER PIN. Then Call back. Rinse. Repeat. I CAN log in and see "some" of my account, the past month. But can't pay it nor see my entire balance. To get that, I need to speak to a representative. What the purpose of this "semi-access" online banking portal is is anybody's guess.
They also entered my TAX ID wrong so I had to fill out forms, etc. to rectify that and which also prevents me from accessing any info as within their own system they've only half rectified this incorrect tax id. Begging the question as to how a legitimate business credit card can get opened with an erroneous TAX ID? Had I known it would exhaust even 2% of this amount of time to simply achieve an online banking status that, with every other credit card I've ever had, takes maybe 3 minutes, there is no way in hell I would have bothered with this incompetent bank. Nor will I ever do business with them in any other capacity moving forward. If you run any kind of successful business the savings on their 0% promo will be negated by your wasted time trying to achieve even the most basic of banking functions. I only wish this website had a zero star rating. Believe me I tried.

Every single time I think I know what my balance is, they regularly make transactions disappear and then reappear days later to make you overdraft. I watch my acct like a hawk and verify as I spend, it's a lot of money coming in and out. I've never had this experience elsewhere. They will do absolutely nothing to help you once they get their fees. It should be illegal to make transactions for goods or services you already have just disappear to make you think you have more money than you do. For example, had close to $2800 go in... And I do write transactions down myself to a certain level, to where I think I know what I have left after bills and what's pending. Then I'll go spend what's left never noticing an increase in balance because it's not drastic as all the charges process.. But I watch it closely.. Then suddenly I'm negative with a fee or multiple fees.
There is a certain reasonable expectation that your balances are right when using online banking.. How can you keep track when they are manipulating behind the scenes? One time they blamed it on the merchant saying they lifted the hold claiming it was an online company and it was literally for groceries already in my fridge. I called the merchant and they were extremely helpful and said they had captured the funds and been paid by my bank... Yet the money was back in my acct!!! They said we most certainly have been paid already but PNC was blaming them for the transaction disappearing!!! LIES!!! I went to the PNC Branch to open a Savings account versus a Checking account, since I did not plan to use the money. The branch representative kept pushing for me to open this “special” type of Checking Account, so after repeatedly saying I want a Savings Account I reluctantly opened it. A family emergency involving my mother came up and I had to spend about 99% of the money, which dropped the balance below the $2,000 threshold for monthly fees being waived. If the representative would have listened to me and opened the Savings Account like I asked, I would not have been charged $90.00 in fees, because my account balance would not have been an issue with the Savings Account I requested.
Now the Customer Service Representative, his Manager, Branch Manager and Retail Escalations Department say they cannot give me a refund on all or Even Part fees. Do I need to be Aware of PNC using tactics that Better Serves Their Needs Versus The Customer’s? It is time to refinance the mortgage knowing that if they cannot help me out over a small issue, what will they do on a larger issue on a loan?

It use not matter the pending amounts cause they would deduct from total. They still do but the pending amounts now stay pending for several days, sometimes a week and then when it settles you're now negative and when you look down your statement the amounts are not the same.
I can look every day and see the things I buy being deducted even if they're pending or not. This is how it's been for years but now when pending clears I'm then negative. And where it showed me I have money it shows something different all of sudden when cleared. This never happened before. I've always been able to manage my pending accounts. Why for several days I watch careful it will say like 8 dollars for several days until I spend it. Then pending clears...negative. It hasn't always been like this and PNC reps tell me they don't know what I'm talking about and making me feel like I'm crazy. Now I'm pulling money out and going somewhere else. My experience is that PNC is the worst bank for both personal and business accounts. Here is why:
1) Their relationship managers and underwriters are unprofessional and don't care about me. They would never follow up with me when they say they would and the last one met me once and then ignored me. Even though they offered some options they never got back to me and never even replied to my email on how to proceed.
2) Their online system is antiquated. Their website looks like it hasn't been updated in years, the font is too small, and the mobile app looks like a spreadsheet. At some point Chrome did SSL update and I couldn't login to my account for months unless I used a different browser. When I called them they told me they were working with Google to resolve that.
3) Their online security consists of constantly pestering you with silly security questions. Even if you are using the same computer, you will be asked these questions again and again. When other banks use mobile authentication, PNC still asks who you went to prom with.
4) If you are using Xero or another site that connects to your bank with Yodlee, PNC is my only account that would often stop working and syncing, and I would have to delete the login and update it and answer the security questions again.
5) They offered to upgrade my personal credit card to PNC Cash Rewards. However, instead of doing a product change, they opened a second card and did a hard pull before I could even tell them that I don't want that.
6) Their check deposit scanner is $50 per month and the deposit software is so old you can't even reset your password without calling them. In addition, the merchant services rate for online deposits is higher than other banks.
I finally had enough and in the process of moving my accounts to other banks. I suggest you do the same.

When calling the local branch, or visiting, I would get the same csr who would scold me instead of thanking me for being with them and offering additional tools to help. I was able to finally get the fees reversed after speaking with their 800 number and informing them of their own policy.
In addition, they have email alerts if the acct overdrafts BUT they send it at around 2AM and anything that posts after that, for that morning-day, could overdraft your acct. and you're not notified until the next day after they charge an overdraft fee. That is a very misleading "tool" to help watch your account. It's pretty much worthless to get these alerts.

Opened our non-profit account in March 2019 because of their account features. Everything was fine until we were receiving a $20,000 donation. I called to make sure no holds would be associated with depositing a check because our donor wanted to know if they should rather provide us with alternative method. PNC assured us there would be no issue and no hold as long as the check is for less than $50,000. So, we make the deposit and the next day when funds were suppose to be made available, I get a phone call saying the check has been placed on hold.
PNC first claimed the issuing bank placed a hold. I contacted our donor to inquire. Our donor calls back and informs us their financial institution shows no holds. I call PNC back who all of a sudden admit the hold was placed by PNC. I got transferred from one department to another and no one can help. I finally get in contact with the individual who has been assigned to verify the funds, but could care less about the fact we needed those funds asap. She was not helpful other than the fact the funds would be available after verifying. The deposit was made on a Monday, hold placed on Tuesday. Wednesday our donor messaged and advised they contacted their bank and the funds had been pulled from the account.
Thursday, I call PNC because the funds still had not posted to our account. I was told they still can not verify the funds have been received. I go into my local branch and ask for help because everyone told me there would be no issue with this deposit. The branch representative calls several different departments to try and help get this resolved and got the runaround just as I did on Tuesday. She was informed to tell me they still cannot verify the funds have been received and waiting on verification, which the hold will now expire next Monday! Absolutely ridiculous. PNC will do anything to keep your money in order to gain what interest they can before making it available is what I believe they are doing. Next week when the funds are there, we are closing and going to another bank. Don't waste your time, I'm not trusting anything this bank says!

I have a business account with PNC that generates over 1.4 million a year. Submitted a franchise fee of $1000.00 in April that was processed through their bill pay program. When it arrived in Las Vegas someone got a hold of check, changed the name and address and cashed it. PNC has a copy of the check with the person who stole it and has determined that its not their problem. So much for standing by their customers! They get a 1 star because there is no Zero. Sonny **.

I have been with PNC bank for years. They are the only bank I have ever been with because I had no reason to not love them. I love the spend account, reserve account and growth account feature for their customers. I used to love their customer service, I thought they were amazing and I would recommend PNC to anyone and everyone I knew. However, I regret to say that will no longer be the case. As of last Friday, I had some issues with mistaken overdraft fees on my account and so I reached out to customer service via online chat for help resolving the issue. I was told they could not help me and that the 3 overdraft fees were there to stay. I of course asked for management. I was told I would be contacted within 48 hours by a member of their "retail management team". I explained that I currently do not have access to a phone and so I would need an emailed response to my email address on file. I was told that was fine.
Finally Tuesday comes (yesterday) and I receive an email from a rep from their "money management team". She explains she has been trying to reach me via phone and would like to discuss my issue via phone. I replied immediately and once again made clear, that I do not have access to a phone at the moment and would need to be contacted through email. I did not receive a response yesterday, and sent a follow-up email this morning asking for a reply, and still absolutely nothing. This is ridiculous, I can't even get management to respond to me regarding my complaint. All I wanted to know is if they were going to waive the fees or not, that is it, and yet no response. I am irate and will be closing my PNC account out ASAP. I will never recommend PNC to another soul and hope that my review helps someone select the right bank.

I applied for a home equity line of credit. I submitted the required documents. On the 9th of July, 2019, I signed the final document at local branch of PNC. At that time I was told, I had to wait the 3 day required time. This I understood. After the 3 days, money was not deposited into my account. Upon contacting the loan department in Pittsburgh, I was told the money wasn't available yet because I didn't request that I needed the money immediately. I've never heard of this practice. After numerous phone calls and talking to numerous personnel, I was told "booking" wasn't completed yet.
To this date, I don't know when money will be deposited. One fella at Loan Department was very rude, I have his name and will let PNC know who it is. I WILL NEVER APPLY FOR A LOAN AT PNC, AND LET ANYONE I KNOW HOW I'VE BEEN TREATED. My daughter is going for a mortgage for a new home and after what I've been through, she will not consider going to PNC. Local branch was helpful, but once application went to Loan Center, and all my information was obtained and I was approved, they didn't care anymore. Anyone interested in obtaining a loan, do not go to PNC.

Asked him to waive a $36 overdraft fee on an account I usually diligently monitor, because I overlooked one check my wife wrote. Asked as a courtesy, but all he quoted robotically was that it was a “correct” charge by the bank. I guess they are not making enough on their investments, so need to squeeze us. Sad to see real personal service forgotten. Another issue: convenient branches are disappearing, and hours curtailed. Time to find a bank with more heart, if that is at all possible.

I have had a PNC account for over two years, I've never overdrawn with PNC and I don't have overdraft protection,..I've been the victim of identity theft prior to opening this PNC account. That was told to the branch manager. After suspicious activities I wanted to close the account and open another account at PNC. I told both places (the same company) sending direct deposit checks of the new routing number to the new checking account. It was before a holiday and the weekends coming when I asked why one check the week before went into the new checking account and then later I asked what has happened to the other check. The teller said it went into the closed account. I asked the teller why. THEY SAID THAT SHOULDN'T BE POSSIBLE AND AUTOMATICALLY SENT BACK IF I CLOSE THE ACCOUNT TOO SOON.
I waited a while and made sure of the first deposit dates, then I closed the old account..I told her to just take it out and give it to me or put in the other account...She said they aren't allowed to, I asked her cunningly "what if someone I owed had the routing number could they withdraw money from the account" and she said, "Yes MOST LIKELY." So I went home and had PayPal take the money all except $10 (I'd set up PayPal previously with my routing number). Later on the next business day the teller put all the money in the old account into the new account and said now my old account was overdrawn (She refused to say it was from that account AS IF MY PAST EMPLOYER CORRECTED.)
I said them just take that unauthorized transaction your bank did out of that account and put it back. She told me to have Paypal cancel the transfer and I said, "No, there is something extremely suspicious with the way your bank has been lying that Paypal can't overdaw an account with more money in it-plus the called the transfer to the new account *miscelleniuos* pending transfer if done from one PNC account to another PNC account." IT'S INSTANT if cash is withdrawn and then deposited into another pnc account. IT'S AN INSTANT DEPOSIT.
She said to me, that I can't have the sender/depositor take the money out and resend the that amount since paypal changed what's available. I SAID I KNOW BUT IT BETTER BE IN THE NEW ACCOUNT FROM NOW ON. From the first time I asked about why the money went to the old account, I got a print off of the transactions of both the new account and old account the money was deposited and on the ledger balance AVAILABLE FOR WITHDRAW. THAT'S WHAT CAUSED TO SUGGEST THEM ALLOWING ME TO WITHDRAW THE MONEY FROM THE OLD ACCOUNT.
When she tried her lies I SENT A PHOTO OF THE TRANSACTION PRINT OFF TO PNC VIA FACEBOOK MESSENGER AND TOOK SCREENSHOTS OF WHAT WAS ON PNC MOBILE. (She didn't give me another print of the transactions of the old account later-should have asked for that first before telling I used PayPal.) THEY STILL HAVE NOT APOLOGIZED OR TOTALLY CORRECTED THE MATTER.

From day one, the entire mortgage process was horrible. They don't value you as a customer. They made me jump through so many hoops and so much red tape. I should have been on their payroll. I was putting in so many hours photocopying documents and paying to fax and mail document after document. The mortgage loan officer was not helpful, and showed no concern to my struggle. After getting the mortgage they were late paying my property taxes, and their website is a black hole. You cannot find a log in portal for your mortgage and their customer service is beyond useless. There may as well be untrained 5 year olds staffing their customer service line.
What's even worse, is that I recently suffered damage to my home from a nasty hail storm. I need a new roof and siding and some other things. While my insurance company was fantastic (I had a check in my hands in less than 24 hours), PNC was and still is the biggest waste of money invested on the planet; like I said it is a black hole--you put a ton of effort in and nothing ever comes out. I had to call 5 times to get someone to tell me how to get someone to sign my check. I had to pay 30 dollars to mail them a bunch of paperwork, including the check that was supposed to pay for my contractor to start repairing my home. They had my check in their possession for 1 month and 8 days and they kept telling me that they couldn't pay the contractor.
I made a dozen calls to PNC regarding this, and they would immediately put me on hold for 10 minutes, and kept asking me for my phone number and email and address! My phone number and email and address have not changed in the last 10 minutes! Each person I talked to sounded more miserable than the last. They showed no concern or empathy, and they really didn't have any desire to do anything but put me on hold and tell me to go on their website. I needed them to give me my money so I could pay the contractor to fix my house, and nobody could help me. They kept my money until I contacted the Better Business Bureau!
Once I filed a complaint they screwed up even more! Not only did they lie to me and tell me that they were sending me the check, but they sent 100% of the funds to the contractor!!! I mean, come on! Now I have absolutely NO assurance that they will even fix my house, or that they will do it right, or in a timely fashion because they have ALL THE MONEY UP FRONT! They could just skip town if they wanted to! PNC is a pathetic company. They are disorganized and they have no right to even be in business. The paperwork for the SS was never sent in and so this never happened. I got charged and charged for breaking their rules" out of their Corporative neglect and mistake. I went into the bank to talk with the manager. She looked at the papers, asked to see my card and shredded it. Then looked up and said, “Now you don’t have an account.” I had deposited $500 in this account. $100 only for the checking and the rest for this Statement saving and according to them I also had a reserve checking account without an checking number or checks.
When I moved down to Florida I went into a PNC to find my statement savings since my online banking was turned off. According to the Branch there was no account in my name and they were going to call the Sheriff for me trying to hold up the bank. I was in a state of shock. I had no proof of the account and now they wanted to arrest me? I left and used the phone. They said I was harassing calling them to ask where my money is. I did not abandon the money or the account since I was calling, they followed a loophole in the law stating that since I showed no activity (I didn't have the accounts or numbers) they turned the money over to the PA State Unclaimed Property.
Finally when I called they admitted they had the money in the account and they closed it. They stole my money. The Law is if the money is not claimed the State sends it back after so many year and PNC get the money. I filed to get it back But I was told now it's going to take 17-20 weeks before I get the money back. 1. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME CHECKING YOUR BALANCE ON MOBILE APP. It doesn't accurately reflect your balance, either at the time of transactions, the next day or even after the transactions post. I paid 3 bills online after the 10 pm cutoff of the banking day, around 10:30 pm. The initial debits showed. By the next day (the same bank day as the 3 debits), the debits disappeared, leaving me to think that they didn't go through. One of the payments had to be done by 11:59 pm, the day I paid it. I called customer service, who could only say that they didn't see the transactions. They accelerated my situation. I was told that someone would call within 24 to 48 business hours. It was Friday, leaving me wondering about the account all weekend.
The charges finally came out the following Monday. By Tuesday afternoon (1 hr short of 48 business hours), I called the bank back. Apparently the app is unreliable. I needed to go to the PNC website to get an accurate accounting. At the same time, it appeared that I was charged a bounce fee, even though I wasn't overdrawn. I checked into that issue that Tuesday.
This is what I was told. Say I swipe my card at a store. I only have $5 in the bank. The bill is $10. If I have overdraw protection (not the same as overdraw protection), the $10 debit charge will go through. I will be charged a "transaction fee" ($36 bounce fee). It may take a few days for the $10 to post. Meanwhile, if I don't deposit funds to cover the overage, other non-swipe transactions will go through, accumulating more bounce fees. If that $10 charge, which overdrew my account, goes through after the other transactions, the Bank won't charge me the initial bounce fee. There is 1 caveat. I won't get charged, but only if I opted out of the overdraw option. If I opted out, that initial transaction wouldn't have gone through. It stands to reason then, that I wouldn't get charged an overdraft fee. I wasn't overdrawn at the point of the failed overdrawal.
One more caveat. If the next transaction(s) were made as recurring charges, I wouldn't get the "overdraft fee" refund from the initial, denied, transaction. I guess not, in any case. It was denied. No overdraft fee. Then there's the recurring overdraft fee. I never did figure that out. Sometimes if the overdraft continues to the next day, they charge an additional $7 fee. Every day until it's cleared up. According to the customer service person, they can charge up to $36...a day. Plenty more. But I'm tired of carrying on. Think twice about signing up for this bank.

In early 2018, PNC pressured me into getting another VISA credit card explaining that they could offer me a significantly lower rate. I planned on transferring my activity from the higher rate card to PNC's card. I was not transferring any significant balance (<$200). I tried to use their card for a cash advance at the branch in Allentown, Pennsylvania near Cetronia Road. They declined to do so - which is their right. And I called to cancel the card - which had absolutely no balance on it - which was my right. PNC Visa refused to cancel the card after the first call. And after several more phone calls, they told me they canceled it but would not send me confirmation. Two weeks after that call, PNC sent me a letter confirming the card was active and they were updating my address. I had better success with a PNC branch in Rockville.

I received a check from the college I attend and just last week cashed a check with no issue at the PNC on W Broad St in Columbus, Ohio. Today I went in with the same type of check (nowadays schools disperse checks in two payments, back to back) and received a lead worker named James. He gave me a hard time and said he needed to verify the check. Ok. I inform him that the gentleman next to him cashed the same check for more less than 2 weeks ago. He pretends to call and verify the check and after it ringing for about 10 seconds makes an moron comment that they are closed on a Friday at 1pm! Idiot.
I called PNC and they said that they are sorry and it is at the discretion of the teller to cash a check or not! I asked and what discretion would that be?! The guy had no reason not to. I smell good, I’m dressed nice, I conducted myself professionally. I have a professional desk job! Only thing I can think of is I am a minority! Don’t use PNC! If they can’t verify their own checks what in the world are they doing in the business?! Their own checks have no credibility then you know it can’t be that great of a bank. Highly disappointed! I talked to them on the phone and they had no concern whatsoever about trying to help me, all they wanted to do was tell me my transactions like I hadn't already seen them or couldn't get on my app and look at them. I have emails and texts proving their system was the reason I am in the negative status but they didn't care. OH and I still have to pay them for crap that was completely their fault! I had a car loan with PNC arranged by the dealer. I have never had an account or a loan with PNC before and what the heck. I traded the car on March 13 2019. The dealer had PNC fax over the 15 day payoff. So, we have it writing from PNC. I buy new car, Dealer pays off loan within 15 days (payment due on the 27th of March, 15th day after new car purchase). Plenty of time for the dealer to pay the old loan in full. What could wrong?
3 Days after the paid off loan payment was due, I get a call from an unknown number. I didn't answer, no voice message, another call same day, I didn't answer, no voice message. So I decided to look up the number. It was PNC. The next day another call from PNC, I was busy and didn’t answer and no voicemail. Again the same day, another call from PNC. This is 4 calls in 2 days, what the heck is going on. I answered. It was their collection department. Then proceeded to tell me I was late on my car payment (I have an 800 credit score, for a reason.) and demanded I make a payment over the phone now. I politely explained the car was traded and I will not be making a payment and the dealer has paid the loan in full and PNC collections department needs to check with their loan department.
I was then treated like a piece of loan dodging, criminal as they explained to me again my payment was late and I need to make it now. (Really? 3 days? Are you kidding me?) Well Again, I refused to make the payment (beware of this banking scam because if you think if you overpay you will get it back in 3 days, I doubt it, if you even see it) and then told them to never call me again that it is called collection harassment and against the law and if they had something they needed to communicate with me, then they could send me a letter of late notice. Again they said they would call me as much as they wanted and they were not breaking the law. (They are, I looked it up. Every state is different. In my state it is.)
I again explained the car was traded (a very reputable new car dealer). They said they didn’t care and again I need to pay them now. I again refused and told them to call the dealer. They told me to call. I hung up. Ok, I called the dealer. The dealer mailed them the payoff check on the 20th of March. 7 days after the trade and 7 days before the payment was due. They had the money. Ok, No more worries. Then the dealer looked up to see if the check had cleared, it hadn’t cleared. Come to find out, PNC sent the check back to the dealer stating it was short a few $$$ and wanted a new check for a specific amount.
Wait, this was all done with a 15 day payoff 7 days before maybe 4 or 5 before the 15 day payoff amount. How can this be? Scam? I think so. Milk the dealer for a few extra bucks knowing if they want the title, the dealer would have to pay the ransom. PNC could have cashed the check and asked for the balance before the title could have been sent. Come on PNC, it’s not like you have never closed a loan for a new car dealer before or the dealer is going to rip PNC off. So the next day the dealer sent another check for the amount requested using next day delivery.
The next day they called again, I didn’t answer, no voice message. They called again same day. (6 times in 3 days) So I answered again, same collection assault and tactics, rude, degrading, attitude and insulting. I then asked for a manager, which was like pulling teeth but they finally sent me to a manager but only after I had to repeat 15-20 time “transfer me to a manager”. Well, the manager was just as rude as the 1st tier grunts. I then proceeded to tell him to never contact me again. It was illegal, send me a letter if you need something. Again, they didn’t want to hear anything except how I was going to make a payment I didn’t owe that was 4 days past due but was paid.
Finally I was so mad I made it clear and confirmed it was being recorded (just in case I had to get a lawyer involved). I then stated, in no calm voice, they were never to contact me again via phone. They were in violation of collection laws. I knew they refused payment and sent the check back to the dealer just to try to collect more interest on a loan and even scam me out of addition payment money that I did not owe because when they sent the check back to the dealer, they were in fact refusing payment...
I told them if they ever called me again, my next conversation would be with a lawyer who would then contact them with a court date. Never, ever deal with bank, even if you have a higher interest rate. I will never deal with PNC again and I have advised everyone I know about this event and PNC scam tactics and practices.

I have been a co-signer on a student loan for nearly twenty years. Every time a payment needed to be made, I stepped up and made the payment. Then I became disabled and had to retire. Though I still made payments when I was required to do so. PNC decided the balance of about $4000 needed to be paid immediately. Since I had lost half of my income I couldn't pay that amount. However, I did pay $1000 that caught my nephew up on the account. At that time, the collection agency agreed that they would not report me to the Credit Bureau. That was lie #1. I tried to refinance my mortgage for lower interest, but cannot because of this.
I just spoke to Marcia from PNC, who said she could not remove this from my credit report. Lie #2. Lie #3 is that you would be informed of this reporting. Marcia didn't take into consideration all of the payments I'd made over the years, nor did she show an ounce of compassion. So all of my years of hard work, and excellent credit is down the tubes. Of course I do not recommend PNC Bank. And unfortunately, when Marcia gets old, she will remember why she has so many financial struggles. Miss Gail

The branch manager stayed in his chair and literally 'rolled' in his chair over to the teller I was working with and stated, 'I'm not giving you this amount of money, get it from the ATM.'
First I told him about his rude behavior then I explained to him the policy and procedures of his own banking system that you could not withdraw that much money from the ATM. I then had to tell this 'so-called' branch manager that the procedure was for him to call and verify the funds were available and then he had to give me my money! I've never been so disrespected or offended in my life by anyone or any business. Not only will I never bank here, but I will also be going out of my way to dissuade anyone from ever banking with PNC after how my friend and I were treated at PNC at this location in Bay City. My friend's husband passed away in a tragic car accident a few days ago, and a GoFundMe was being prepared, and my friend has no checking account so we ran to PNC before closing, about 15 minutes before close to ask if they could accommodate us because it was urgent and frankly an emergency because she was low on funds.
My friend has a 4-year-old son and is pregnant with her second. We told the banker about our situation, but he refused to help. He wasn't explaining why, and it came off like he didn't want to versus he couldn't. I got heated and explained the situation and asked if he could please make an exception this one time but he said there was nothing he could do and to come back in the morning. I was very upset and asked him why he couldn't help us, and the tellers overhearing the situation began laughing at me and my friend.
I turned and asked, "Are you really laughing at me?" I was holding back tears, and they replied, "Yes, we are laughing at how you're acting." I was stunned, disgusted, and disturbed. The banker, not coming to our defense in any way, showing no remorse, sympathy or even a shimmer of condolences hands her a PNC pen and says coldly, "You can do it yourself online if you want or come back in the morning."
I called PNC customer service to file a complaint and they explained to us that at 5 pm the system shuts down, and they wouldn't be able to complete the opening the checking account anyway. Finally! This is an explanation I could understand and work with, but that is not what the banker or the laughing tellers said whatsoever. It was a basic checking account and it was an emergency. The least the banker could have done is offered a sensible explanation to us rather than treat us like we were lying or inconveniencing him. It was a horrible feeling, and I felt so bad for my friend who just lost her husband. I've never been treated like this at any establishment in my entire life. Stay away from these heartless and unprofessional people, and go to Chase or even better yet, a community bank.

Since I have been calling PNC bank savings representatives. They keep on telling they don’t know where the money is. On Friday of last I talk to a senior representative and he said not to worry and money will soon appear my account with interest from the day it got transferred.
Today the money is the account but no history of when got it. I called PNC bank and got another representative who informed me that hold my money for five days without any interest. This so crooked and no one told me that till today. I could not get a hold of the Manager apparently convenient not able to take the phone call. The representative however promised that she would call me within a 24 hr period. I think since PNC is NYSE traded stock I would call the SEC fraud department, the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau and FDIC to let them know how PNC is defrauding millions of people with this practice.
It is absurd that the 6th largest bank would indulge in this fraudulent practice but then there was Wells Fargo. I will update what happened on this page. I have banked with PNC for years and never had a problem until two weeks ago when my bank account was hacked and a large amount of money transferred out. In dealing with the fraud department and my local bank I am appalled at the lack of professionalism and total lack of communication between the fraud department and the bank. I caught the fraud the day the withdraws were made. I called the fraud department and was only able to speak with their credit card fraud as their account fraud department is not open 24/7 (I guess fraud only hits Monday - Friday 8-10 and Saturday until 4:30). The withdrawals were still pending. The credit card fraud representative told me it was obvious blatant fraud but he could only put a hold on my account and I would have to go to the bank the next morning to file a fraud report.
Next morning I went to the bank and it was such a joke. Nobody knew how to handle the fraud. “I’ve never seen this before” was a phrase I heard more than once. No hold had been put on my account. They tried calling the fraud department which was closed (this was a Saturday at 11 am EST). They told me they could not put the hold on my account and I would have to call fraud Monday morning to get a hold on my account. I asked them to withdraw my money from the hacked account to another account. They did and gave me receipts. Monday morning I called fraud and asked them to put a hold on my account. They told me my local bank needed to put the hold on my account. I had to call my local bank, who told me that I had to call the fraud department because they could not put a hold on my account. At this point I found out that the transfer of money in my hacked account was not complete.
My money had been left in the account unprotected for the fraudster to perpetuate. The lady at the bank reprimanded me that I should have done a cash transfer. The bank made the transfers for me! I just got a letter today saying that I rescinded my claims which I never did. I got the letter on a Saturday after the local bank and fraud department are closed. Almost my entire checking account was drained, and I am very disappointed with the lack of professionalism and communication of PNC. It should not be my job to be the intermediary between the bank and their own fraud department. Once I receive my money back I will be moving to another bank. I have lost all trust in the competency of PNC. Every other financial institution I work with has 24/7 customer service. Fraud does not work 9-5, neither should the fraud department. Within 3 months I started receiving letters saying that my Hazard Insurance was not sufficient and to contact my Insurance company. I called my company and they checked and said that I'm actually OVER insured. So I call PNC and tell them this information and that they can check with my insurance company. They tell me "Oh, you need to be insured for the entire principal." I asked why, considering the last 3 companies that had my loan told me that you only need to be insured for the building and surrounding structures (which I am). I told him the difference is the land itself. I was told it needs to be the full loan. I think my response was, "Why? Because a sinkhole will appear and suck up my entire plots of land along with the house?"
I was given the usual line of "It's company policy, sir." Now I don't blame the client rep at all who remained professional and polite and I made it clear that my frustrations were not directed him. But I said, "I hope someone IS listening on this recorded line because your policies are ridiculous and I'm sorry you have to work with such a terrible company." He told me either I had to increase the coverage or they would take out coverage on my behalf and take the costs out of my escrow.
End of the story, I had to call my insurance company back and ask them to increase my coverage (much to their surprise). I am heading out of town to my son's wedding today and do not have any time to deal with this but I cannot wait for my return in order to switch banks! I had no idea they were this incompetent!

Little did I know I should have gotten the persons name, date, time and blood type. Now PNC is refusing to report my payments. I got a car loan from them and they state it's the bank's policy not to report because I filed bankruptcy. Remind you, I DID NOT include the car. I opened up a business checking account at the branch located at 2217 W Market St, Bloomington, IL 61705 with Branch Manager **. I opened up the account because I am new to the area and doing business there. I also started on another sub business under my current business which is a property preservation company. My sub was going to be business to business collection. I informed Mrs. ** that it was new to me and I knew very little about the workings of it worked but was learning how to do it. She asked me if I knew how much money would be going into the account. I told her I was not sure but I told her possibly big sums and doing wire transfers to pay the money to the company we were suppose to be working for.
I asked her how much could we deposit at one time and how long it would take for a check to clear, she said, "You can deposit any amount and for the first 30 days it will take 2 days for a check to clear because it was a new account, then after thirty days it will take 1 day for a check to clear." She said there were no holds on wire transfers, money orders and or cash. So I began my new business adventure and received, a check in the mail for over $79,000, I take it to PNC Bank the next day and deposit it. The gentleman that works there runs the check and begins to inform me there would be a longer hold on the check. Mrs. ** comes out of her office to say, "It could be but check your account in 2 days" before I spend anything further confirming she told me 2 day hold.
Now the reason the hold is important to me because I had already told the client that I was working for it would take 2 days for the check to clear, I did not care if it was 2, 5, or 10 days just give me the accurate information so I can inform my client when they would get paid. It resulted in me having to give them different dates which cost me the client because it appeared as if I didn't know what I was doing. The check was reversed back to the payees account by the payee and PNC Bank closed my account with no warning, no investigation till after the fact. They concluded and said the check that was received was fraudulent and although after 2 business days the check that was deposited was my ledger balance. Also PNC did not return or stop the check. They were not even aware that the check was reversed until I informed them.
So now if it was FRAUDULENT as they claimed how come the bank manager ** did not know it until I informed her that my payee reversed the check back to his account. So they closed my account made me pay for a bounce check that never bounced and sent me a cashiers check in my business name. I went to cash the cashiers check at the same location 2217 W Market St, Bloomington, IL 61705 only to be told they could not cash the CASHIERS CHECK THAT THEY SENT TO ME THE OWNER because it was in the business name oh and they wanted to charge me 2% to cash a cashiers check that they sent me. So now I am taking this as far as I can take it and will not stop because this is horrible.

Last November I received a service charge with no description on my statement. After a phone conversation with no return call I visited the bank to get similar treatment. They told me the fee was due to insufficient funds in two of the three accounts. I make bi-weekly Friday direct deposits in excess of the minimum. The individual could not or would not explain why I was charged but said he would reverse it that day and call me. A week later nothing so I tried online help.
I had to look at multiple statements to figure out how PNC Fee'd me. Turns out the bank believes in a 26 day month. This happened to start on a Saturday - the day after a direct deposit, and end on a Thursday - the day before another direct deposit. I find this behavior quite odd and I'm sure a lot of people paid the fee without question. It took a lot of pushing through the online help to get the fee reversed. They absolutely didn't want to. Pay attention to your statements or online checking detail.

I applied for an auto loan online thru PNC, so I wouldnt have to go thru the dealership. I was approved and received a phone call right away to complete the loan. If I wanted to have the check overnighted, I could finish process over the phone. My husband wasn't available at the time, so she said you can go to a local branch and pick up the check. So I called ahead to the branch the next day and said we couldn't get there until 4:15 to 4:30. No problem with them. We show up and are taken straight back to one of the loan officers. She starts explaining the program, I interrupted her and told her we have already been approved just here to pick up the check. She said, "If you start the loan process online you have to finish it with them and they will mail you a check. I said, "No, I was told to do either." She said, "I can't do that, I did that once and got in trouble. You will have to have it mailed to you."
Frustrated, we got up and left, walking out the door I called PNC Corp. and spoke to the same women that told I could go there. She apologized and said, "No that lady is incorrect, I will call her. Can you go back in there." We turned around by this time it is about 4:40 pm. She kept me on hold while she called her. When she came back to me she said now she said she will do it but doesn't have time today, but could get me in tomorrow at 1. I told them had she of done it in the first place she would of had time. I had already lined up 3 car dealerships to test drive out. So needless to say I went thru the dealership. Never going thru them again for anything!!

Online banking is completely different than the app. The security is so high if you forget one detail your account will be locked and you'll have to call. You just know your account number to access anything. Your account number is not shown in the app but it is in the online banking so if you get locked out you'll have to call. The interface is not user friendly especially for auto loan. You can't just click pay. You have to transfer money from one account to the next. Security questions are asked at every login so don't expect to quickly login and pay anything or see your account. If you are a customer it may be differently but my experience for auto loan only has been extremely upsetting. If I wasn't already locked into this loan I would give up. I would never ever bank with them.

I've been using PNC Bank for a while now and have recently hit a rough patch in my life drastically altering the amount of money I make. With that said keeping track of my money is more important than ever and I probably didn't notice this bank's dirty accounting schemes, because I didn't have to or they like to take advantage of the poor.
Problem one - let's say I have $30 in my account, no pending transactions, their virtual wallet app clearly shows that I have $30 as my main account balance. I make a $10 purchase, check my account and the money is deducted from the main account balance, instantly. Yet there is still a pending action from that transaction. Regardless, 30 - 10 = 20, yeah? So I'll go make another $10 dollar purchase, instantly deducted, a pending transaction shows, main account balance shows $10. 20 - 10 = 10, yeah? So, the next day, I wake up and I have $-10 showing as my main account balance?!?! And I'm hit with overdraft fees. They are stealing money from people because they cannot accurately keep track of transactions.
Problem two - So I got the ** of this and decided to take my money out in cash as soon as I deposited a check leaving $5 in my account to avoid it being overdrafted or shut down. They will charge me $6 for some ** bank fee causing overdraft fees to occur. Problem three - deposit a check and they say it will be cleared the next day. Next day comes around, no money in my account. I have to wait and they charge me overdraft fees.
Problem Four - deposited a check and had the ability to make it an instant deposit. Paid the instant deposit fee, the transaction wasn't instant leaving me to wait until the next day and I'm still charged for the instant transaction fee. Problem Five - I wrote a bad review of this bank on Google Play, the next day my account is shut down and I'm on the phone for 9 hrs and talk to four different people who give me three different answers. I'm forced to go into their branch office and the guy tells me my account was shut down because I haven't deposited money into my savings account for 6 months so the system automatically shuts accounts down. **, I've had an account with this bank for years and never deposited money into my savings and never had a problem. They shut my account down because I wrote a bad review.
I'm currently waiting for my account to be overdrafted because of all the issues stated above, compounded together. I am now looking into starting the process of a class action lawsuit against PNC Bank for negligence and taking advantage of people, they are stealing money from people. These are just a few of the issues I'm having with this bank, I haven't even touched upon the discrimination of cryptocurrency users.

I have been banking with PNC since 2015. Ever since I have had this bank there is always a problem with my transactions & my card. I have becoming outraged with this company because when first becoming a customer I received a different message then what I am getting. For example this morning I called the 1-888-PNCBANK because I found that my account was overdrawn by 34.66.
The overdraft fee for PNC is 34$. So I give a call to receive help and the young lady on the phone tells me, when becoming a customer they gave you all of your papers to read. WHOA ma’am. That's not how you speak to a customer early in the morning and even if it’s in the papers, this is your job to assist a customer. Further into the conversation, she’s says, "There is nothing we can do, you would have to go into a branch." I go to explaining my recent issues with going into the branch and calling and her reply was “well (pause) we can’t do anything so is there anything you need”. With a attitude like that I will be closing my PNC account. This isn’t the first time I have had a problem between my account & my representative, but I will not longer have that problem.

Once it was time to sign the papers, they did the old "bait and switch" and swore they told me it had to be a PNC account and I would not be receiving the same interest rate initially quoted.
I asked them to review my conversation (recorded line) and they LIED telling me that I was specifically told that the payment had to be "from a PNC Account." I will be pulling all of my business from this bank, including my payment processing and personal checking account. The person with whom I dealt was Will **. As a means to end the continuous phone calls I made additional payments in hopes that it would be recorded so that the calls would stop. Fast forward a few days later I discover that my bank was debited two times the amount over. In an attempt to reverse the payment, I contacted the local branch.
Not only was I informed by the staff and a member of the re escalation team that I would receive a refund on a recorded line. I was also given a date. I provided bank statements that have detailed account information that shows all payments should be up to date. It has been almost two months and I've yet to see the refund check. They claim they happen by automation... That's not totally true. When the first overdraft hit it was for a scientific amount. When the others hit they positioned them to get the maximum amount of fees they could. I saw the first payment that caused the first fee get pushed back so the smaller ones can go ahead of it. Here's the kicker, I stopped putting money in the account so these jackwagons changed my account status so they can start collecting 15 dollar fees for activity under 2000 a month AND DIDN'T TELL ME! If I had deposited $49,999 I would have access to it the next day (Saturday). Leaving me with $6000 to run my business until the funds clear due to a idiotic policy that is only in place to screw hard working people out of money as I am surely going to bounce transactions because I can not afford to shut my business down for almost an entire week because PNC has a million rules, designed only to make more likely the possibility of them collecting more fees!

It’s the holidays. 5 days away from Christmas to be exact. I work in one of the companies where our busiest seasons is NOW. I attend school and work second shift. Well, the funds WERE there. Just not in the correct account. You think some type of understanding would be considered. ESPECIALLY that this has NEVER happened to us before. But no. It was a solid NO, several times from the management at customer service to waive the $40.00 overdraft fee. Is it the $40.00? Not necessarily, but the very principle. And then it’s “Merry Christmas” to end the call. Yeah, thanks PNC for giving an overall financially responsible customer a break after ONE mistake was made. Thanks.
