I had Chime over 3 years and never had any problems until this weekend when I get a email saying my account has been closed. I called. Tried to get answers and they said it doesn’t show exactly why they closed the account. Now it says they will mail my check within 30 days. Please don’t ever ever trust Chime with your money because they can close your account whenever they want to for no reason at all. I'M SO MAD. They are a scam. Please be warned. Don’t use Chime.

The worst customer experience ever with customer service. Guy's name is Jake. Of course there's no i.d. They can give or last name or anything to refer back to him. I've been fighting a dispute for $100 for over 3 months that I did not charged to my account. It's some weird company and time will not back me up and reimburse me on my dispute. I live on a fixed income and I absolutely cannot afford anything being taken out of my account fraudulently. Never mind the fact that it's $100. I asked for help over the course of three months and they would not help me. There's a lot more but this is what I'm starting at.

I have banked with Chime for a few years, and never encountered such a problem! My card was used fraudulently for a few charges, so I submitted a dispute, had to replace my card and then wait weeks for their “investigation.” They closed my dispute claims and said they didn’t find any issues, so of course they didn’t refund my money. I called customer service but they weren’t any help at all, she just kept talking about the conclusion of the investigation, but wouldn't provide any details for their “findings” because if they did then they would have noticed I didn’t make these purchases.
I reached out to one of the companies that charged my account and they emailed me saying to dispute the charge since that’s the only way I can get my money back. I told Chime I can send them the email to prove what I’ve been told, but they didn’t care. They basically told me to ** off and there’s nothing they can do. So basically, they allow anybody to use your card. I will not be depositing any more money in this account!

My experience with Chime has been absolutely terrible. I opened an account in January and made an initial deposit of funds. However, when I attempted to log in a couple of days later, I was locked out of my account. When I emailed customer service, they asked me to send them scans of various documents to confirm my identity, such as bills, with scans of envelopes showing my home address.
When I repeatedly explained in about 15 email exchanges that I don't receive hard copies of any bills or financial documents, I was eventually ghosted, after I never received a single substance of response actually addressing what I was telling them. Therefore, I sent an email asking to close my account, but nothing has been done after about about 5 more email exchanges, and eventually they ghosted me on this issue as well. My account is still not closed, and they still have my funds. This is outrageous. Do not do business with this company. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced in an era when customer service is typically awful.

Ok so starting out I loved Chime, I felt like the safety of knowing you can't bounce anything was great.. The addition of having Spot Me and Boost... They were great too...but wait... using our card we all are going to run into times when we need to Dispute a charge right... I have been in good standing, have my direct deposit going in regularly, so when I disputed a charge for 101.00 to a supplement's company, I would hope it would be handled like other banks...BUT NO... I entered my info, emailed supplement's info, and still nothing. No communication. But the biggest problem, they don't credit you when you start the dispute.. I was originally upset about this.. But now 28 days later I really don't think they are going to rectify my dispute, so I'm now researching other banks to see if this is par for the course or just Chime... So if you ever think you may dispute a charge then Chime is not for you, as they will not refund the disputed bill.

I have had banking for some time now and I’ve had past issues with them. I had an incident where my account was compromised and I went through their procedure just to come to the outcome of not being refunded my money back into my account. I then had to go through legal procedures to get my money back. Another time recently I received a torn $20 bill from a ATM recommended from the ATM locator on their app and the service was terrible. None of the workers knew how to go about this nor did they have a clue as of how to help. I’m currently still waiting for a outcome. Looking to cancel my account with them when this issue is solved.

I recently opened up a Chime bank account and I deposited $900 on it. In two days we used it to pay several bills. There was $323 left on the account. They shut my account off, wouldn't let me retrieve my money, sent me an email telling me they have to let our payments process for 14 days and that we wouldn't see a check until after the 14 days and that they'd be emailing us out a check.
Like I said this online bank Chime is a joke. I strongly recommend to anyone out there do not use them. They're nothing but a hack company looking to place your money on a hold if you use your debit card too much to pay bills was their exact words and that's their banking procedures is if you overuse your debit card which means I paid three different bills with it and they shut it off. They're holding my money. They refused to refund it until after 14 days go by and they make sure everything clears and then they'll send us a check out which could take up to 30 days. So like I said I strongly recommend to everyone and anyone out there this is a hack of a company. Do not use them.

You guys don't understand the hassle some people have to go threw just for their jobs to reissue another check. especially now days with this pandemic. People are out here facing evictions, need medication, and food and all there trying to do is cash a check it might have been their first check in months and they just don't have transportation to get to a check cashing building. So these people trust in your product to deliver them a service and you guys drop the ball with no other alternative to the solution. In other words don't use any mobile app check deposit features. Never would have thought that I would be going through a situation like this one! Okay, so I’ve been banking with Chime since August 2021. It nice and all being able to have $105 in spot me which can help if I don’t have money on my account & something need to paid for. So on December 24 Christmas Eve I have to emphasize the day because most banks and businesses closes early this day. I just got paid and had about $1000 dollars in my account. After paying some bills my account balances at $735 dollars.
Later the day I woke up from a long day after work and checked my account and notice that $720 was taken out of my account. The first thing I thought to do was to check if I had my card then I called chime support and let the know what just happened. But they informed me that nothing can be done until the transactions was done pending. Two days later I got an email saying that chime denied my dispute claim because their investigation claim that there was no error with my account. So in one business day chime was “able” to investigate and come to an conclusion that I was not scammed out of $720 dollars leaving me with only $15 dollars in my account on Christmas Eve. No way in knowing how I will pay the rest of my bills. CHIME is UNPROFESSIONAL and was quick to assume that I wasn’t a victim of credit card fraud.

So I signed up for Chime, sent them my ID picture of my face, all that stuff. Everything went through fine. Got the debit card in the mail and everything. Upon my very first paycheck deposit direct from the company I work for I was locked out of my account with NO indication as to why. The only good thing about this experience is that the deposit was canceled and sent back to the sender so I didn't have to deal with Chime anymore. They wanted proof of ID (which you need to send them to sign up for their site), my social security card and a bill of some kind sent to the place I live. Well I have no bills directed to me personally at the place I live so I sent them the letter from my employer, I sent them mail from insurance, I sent them mail I got from paypal, I sent my ID and my social security card. They did not accept it.
The customer representative I spoke with on the phone with was nice. I asked him "does Chime do this with all their customers? Allow them to sign up send a debit card and when a deposit is made lock their account?" He said "No" yet couldn't give me any specific reason it happened to me. Maybe they thought I looked like a criminal based on the photo in my ID, I really don't know. I literally couldn't have done anything suspicious as all I did was sign up and get a deposit. The deposit had my name on it, the same address as my ID. There was absolutely NO conflicting information I gave them ANYWHERE.
Now I have to wait almost a full week longer to receive my paycheck. I would never recommend this service, and my story alone (without me even trying to convince them as I didn't know they were even considering Chime) has convinced someone I know not to use Chime when they had been considering it. GOOD! The fact that this isn't a standard thing is what upsets me the most. What about ME made them suspicious? I could see that if the address on my ID wasn't the same as the address I gave, or SOMETHING... but no nothing of the sort. And then why would they say "Congratulations you've successfully opened a deposit account" if they were going to lock it the very first time I got a deposit? UNNACCEPTABLE! The entire experience makes me feel discriminated against. The entire experience was TERRIBLE.

I’ve been with Chime for a couple years now. Bank is pretty mediocre. There’s been a lot of problems with false charges and I’m not the only customer to have this issue. They always have issues with the new cards you have to set up. The info in their system never matches what your new card says so they send out a new one and it’s the same cycle of waiting 2 weeks with fingers crossed. They do have a virtual temp card but they canceled mine because I had a fraud charge. They have “no idea how it happened” (I’ve only used this card on Apple Pay for a couple of stores so pretty sure either they are getting hacked or they sell info) and they left me with 0 access to my money until I get a card.
It’s been almost 3 weeks and customer support is terrible. Nobody in support knows how to fix anything but reset a password or send a new card like that’s going to help while already waiting for a card. You can definitely tell they outsourced their customer support overseas so that says a lot anyways. Also, a lot of places won’t even take this bank. I'm heavily considering canceling my bank and credit card with them.

First of all - I really love Chime overall, the Spot Me feature, no fees or overdrafts, etc. I’ve reached a point though where I need to move on to a “big boy” bank since Chime doesn't offer joint accounts and constantly transferring money back and forth between my wife and I is getting annoying. Another major thing is that Chime is treated like a pre-paid debit card by most vendors. I’ve ran into an issue recently where I was not able to rent a car due to them not accepting Chime. And going to a Family Dollar to deposit cash is getting tiresome as well - it just feels like you’re not really part of an actual bank. This is great for young singles and personally, I absolutely hate big banks - it pains me to move to Chase - but until they actually develop themselves as a “real bank”, I need to move on.

Chime is inconsistent. They lure you in by getting your direct deposit about 5 to 6 days early. After that don't expect it until the designated date of employer, or benefit date. They will lower your spot me without any reason why, and will not post to your account the bonus 5 dollars you're supposed to received from friends called boost. I have had 3 months where friends sent boost never to be credited to my account but have my spot me account lowered from 60 to 50 to now 5 dollars. Their reps are all remote half the time dealing with screaming children or other domestic affairs, and any correspondence sent is never answered but then you are penalized for complaining or stating missing monies.
It's better to go with an establishment that has second chance banking if need be or credit union. These new banking companies are not consistent and I fear will become more predatory as time goes on. I do not recommend. Do yourself a favor. Establish a relationship with a bank or credit union you will be able to secure loans, lines of credit, and buy a home. This is not the way to do it. Don't get suckered into taking the easy way out. There is never an easy way, and nothing is for free, which sets off red flags with chime. Good luck

I have other bank accounts and Chime has to be the most lackluster one of them all. Instead of trying to assist their customers they are more concerned with how to make a dollar. It all started when I had to reach out for the 3rd time that mouth about a reoccurring fraudulent charge (Suspicions in itself). In result of feeling disrespected and abandoned by the folks who have access to quite literally all of money, the conversation became unproductive and emotional.
At some point I mentioned how hard this situation was making my life since I had zero wiggle room in my paychecks. I then close the conversation out of anger. Within the hour, a local sheriff is at my door. He says he’s responding to a potential “self-harm risk”. I am in awe. Chime assumed I was a danger to myself, with no supporting evidence even alluding to that. When I confront the “chat” agent in the app after the officer had left, I demanded to know what warranted that 911 call. I never got a response. I tried to reach them a lot in fact, now my help feature in the app is always on “maintenance mode”. I have screenshots of every conversation regarding this. Basically Chime has tried to stop me from receiving my provisional credit from my dispute I placed for 113 transactions. On the 9th day chime closed my dispute as completed and consider all transactions that took place were no error. (I have provided written proof that I was in mental Facility during the transactions in question.) I also provided a police report as the perps who did this are individual who was working for the facility I was admitted in due to them having my belongings (phone, wallet, etc during my time there) however, chime denied and completed my dispute unlawfully, unprofessionally and unethically.
Chime did not at the time of closure contact any merchants in question (as I have been dealing with them already). Chime also did not (if they did contact merchants) wait for a merchant to respond to an error or no error transaction confirmation which will determine which disputes are valid and what disputes are not. (I have mention this to chime individuals multiple times.)
Here is where We have an issue. I Justin ** ask chime for my provisional credit (you ask why do I ask for that when this is a rebuttals). Simply in order for this to be a rebuttals my original dispute needed to be completed correctly (contacting merchants, awaiting the 45 days they have to reply if not sooner to determine the authenticity of the transactions.) That did not occur with chime on August 3rd so the dispute was never completed to be denied. (This is why I ask for my provisional credit) also, the dispute is 113 transactions and ironically it was completed the day before the provisional credit is allowed.
This brings me down to this. It’s not just 100-300 dollars. It’s over 11,000 dollars. This has affected not only my household but my ability to maintain my self awareness and mental health along with me taking care of my kids. (6 months prior my kids' mother died. A month before my mental health issue my mother died) so all I’ve been asking and begging for is help to maintain and I get nothing. No one wants to assist me like where is the customer service? However today has been the day at 1119 I get an email responding back to my email stating “They are working on my claim and that visa has up to 44 days to respond. This is a lot of information and we want to look through it correctly as the Merchant wants to do the same.” I know right but just a few days ago you denied my claim in 9 days but today you saying that the merchant has this much time and have not realized back to my claims status yet (but you denied my dispute how so?)
So after I speak with Veronica a supervisor she says basically is really rude, cutting me off, speaking over me, has no respect for me or for my situation or the fact that my kids are literally sitting here watch me cry and yell and they suffer from being hungry. At this point I hung the phone up on her rude disrespectful **. Now it’s 1140ish and I received emails from dispute dept stating my redispute also has been declined. The guy on the phone when I told him my concerns told me that I could just pay for my gas over the internet. Extremely incompetent. Worst bank there is out there. Had issues since the day I opened my account. Can't wait to close it after I can finally withdrawal my funds.

While there are definite positives to banking at Chime, to me, the negatives far outweigh them. Some positives are that you often get direct deposits a day or two quicker, which is nice. And you can overdraw a certain amount (starts at $20 I think - despite their claims about $100, and slowly moves up. After 2 years I'm at $80) without any fees. There aren't any of those pesky bank fees which is nice; however, I'd rather pay a small fee and get decent service, which brings me to the negatives.
Dispute process is an absolute joke - they don't reimburse you for 10 business days and the entire process is a huge hassle. Literally anytime I've needed assistance they've been unable to assist me. Their mobile check deposit system is really picky and only works with zero shadows on the check and all of these other conditions that are difficult to meet. They often send you emails that are the exact opposite of what is going on (for example: today I got an email saying my card got disabled due to fraud but I had discussed disabling my card tomorrow at midnight with an agent. Turns out my card isn't disabled after all.)
And don't even try to deposit cash -- it's an absolute nightmare. You literally have to go to Walmart or 7-11 and pay a significant fee to deposit it it's comical. I do not recommend this, especially with all the fraud out there. Better to stick to a real bank even though you have to pay fees and wait a little longer for your check. It'll be worth it when stuff goes wrong, trust me.

So I've had Chime for about 2 months now. I have been pretty happy with them. I absolutely love their credit builder and the spot me but recently I had a hold on my card for uhaul. After I returned the truck they would refund that money and take what I actually owed them. Everything on Uhaul's end was done. Chime however never refunded that money from the hold. They are trying to say that it was released back to my account but it wasn't. Not only that but they also completely make the hold transaction disappear. They were not helpful at all with getting my money back to me. And they need to not take hold transactions off of your statements. It should be in there that it was taken out then when it is refunded back it should show that also.
They tried telling me that it was taken out of my funds when it clearly was. If you look at my transactions before it disappeared it clearly shows where it was subtracted from my money and it was never added back to my account. Have to say I am very disappointed in this because I really do like them but this is absolutely ridiculous that they cannot see that it was never added back to my account. I kept track of what went out and what came in.

I had 5 unauthorized transactions on my account and tried contacting Chime as soon as they happened and was told I had to wait until they post and then file a dispute which I did. On the 10th business day I get an email stating they denied my claim and will not be receiving any credit! Wtf! All they had to do was pull the video footage! I have since filed a police report, filed a report on CFPB, BBB and FDIC against them and if I don't have my money back soon I'm filing a lawsuit! Chime is a mobile banking app. I have very mixed feelings about Chime. It is VERY frustrating that they boast about their two-day early direct deposits, when in actuality it is VERY RARE that they even deposit my paycheck in my account two days early. It's very willy-nilly on the timing. Also, they are VERY hard to reach. I had an issue trying to pay bills online. The only way to "talk" with anyone at Chime was through their chat. It's frustrating that every time I had to get out of chat to do what they had me do, I would get another person and have to start my story over and over and over and over and over and over. I finally got so tired of re-explaining things I just paid another way on all my bills.
Additionally, I cannot get their mobile deposit part of the app to work. None of the checks I've tried to deposit are ever accepted. The best part of Chime is the Spot Me part of their app. It's nice that if you accidentally go over your balance by a couple of dollars that your aren't charged $30, $40, $50 or more dollars. As a teacher, I live on a very tight budget, as we only get paid once a month. I chose Chime because my husband passed away and I was relocating for jobs. It's nice when moving jobs that I don't have to keep closing accounts and opening accounts. I can provide my employer immediate account info for direct deposit. There are always pros and cons to bank and credit unions. There is no perfect banking institution so I stay with Chime till something better comes along.

I opened this account basically just to get my direct deposits into. However, I have opened up a bank account, savings account, a credit card, and debit card without any chance of overdrawing this account. This was my first actual bank account all by myself at 42 years old. When I say I cannot over draw my bank account, I mean that they front you money until your next paycheck comes in without being penalized for doing so. I also get my paycheck a day early. However, when I was a temporary at my job I did get it 2 days early. So that depends on your HR department at work as well.
When I need help, there is a virtual assistant in my mobile online banking. However, if that doesn't do the job you can call to talk with a customer representative. Every time I needed help my problem was resolved immediately. I have learned a lot using Chime without being criticized for my ignorance to how banking works. I had to call them back to figure out what the hell was going on, they "escalated" the claim and told me to wait another 3 business days to get the provisional credit, meaning someone LITERALLY wasn't doing their job. 3 business days later, they denied my claim and said it was closed, however the individual transactions say "Still working on it" with a Closed claim status via the Chime App. Oh, also, they want you, the customer, to print out and fill out by hand all the transactions and charges being disputed/submitted as fraudulent. What the hell year are we in, 1993?
I tried to get a hold of the claims dept, and got transferred about 3 times until I finally got a Customer Service "Manager," she was EXTREMELY rude and kept talking over me and cutting me off, never gave me an answer to my question of "If the provisional credit was supposed to be issued within 10 business days, then why was it never issued?" I even asked her to put me on hold and go talk to someone in the claims dept, because apparently they literally don't have phones in that dept (at least, that's what she told me) and no communication is available via telephone between customer or employees to the claims dept. What an absolute joke of a "bank," STAY AWAY!

Yesterday I tried transferring funds from my Chime account to my personal Bank of America account. I was not able to because I was prompted to activate my chime card. However my card has not arrived yesterday nor today. I called customer service and the issue was not resolved. The options were to link to a 3rd party institution. I tried that with Cash app and it still did not work. The other option was to pull it from my bank, but if I do that I will be charged a fee. Another option that was presented was that I can shop with the temporary card. Which is not what I'm trying to do. I'm not trying to shop. All I want to do is move my own money from my Chime account to my personal bank account and I can't because my card has not arrived which is no fault of my own.
I should not be penalized and be unable to move my own money because the postal system has not delivered my Chime card. I should have the option to freely transfer money even if the card has not arrived and once the card arrives I should be able to proceed but in the meantime the card has not arrived and I cannot do any transactions which is unfair to me as a new customer. I am extremely dissatisfied and I do not want to recommend Chime to anyone and once I have this matter resolved I would prefer to close my account.

Additionally, your finances are always at my fingertips. Unfortunately there was an incident 2 or 3 years ago and Chime locked all account holders out of their accounts for several days. The m those days were a horrible nightmare. And they weren’t answering calls. I had to miss work, couldn’t get gas out, buy food, nothing. Chime advertised 2 day early direct deposit, that's about the only thing that works as claimed. I routinely send deposits from eBay managed payments, and it can take 2 or more days for them to arrive, where a real bank (Chase in my case) they arrive within an hour of midnight. Customer service is useless, they don't bother to explain why they hide my money for multiple days. In fact they pretty much give you no info at all. And lo and behold, I check my credit today and they have socked my credit again for 30 points after I got it going back up again. I'm sick of these so called companies offering to "help" make your circumstances better when they make it worse to begin with. How is it helping when they do hard check against you in the first place? Doesn't make sense. I'm peeved. I'm down 60 points after that and I dont see how that was supposed to benefit me as a banker and consumer with them. So, I believe that it's safe to say that they are not here to help in that aspect. On April 23rd my card was used once at 7:58pm at Target in Henderson NV totaling $192.00. April 24th I noticed this activity and called to dispute these to Chime. I filed the dispute and sent back the dispute form as requested. Chime cancelled the card and stated that they would mail me a new card. On April 24th my card was again used fraudulently at Target 13 times at exactly 8:04pm. I again called Chime to dispute these charges and again was told that the card was off and that the disputes department would look into this and that it could take up to 90 days. At this point I spoke to a members services agent who told me that the card had been used at multiple different locations around Southern California at the exact same minute.
On April 27th I received and activated my new card and transferred $1.41 into my credit builder account. On May 4th at exactly 5:18pm my old card was used 4 times at Target totaling $824.00 and another dispute was filed with Chime and same steps were taken in changing my passwords, etc. On May 5th my old card was again used at Target totaling $66.81. I filed yet another dispute with Chime and this dispute was resolved same day. At this point I had both my old card and my new card deactivated. No purchases should have been able to go through and a new card was being sent to me. On May 10th at exactly 4:55pm just as I was clocking out for lunch at work my first card was charged 11 times at Target totaling $2993.01. I reported this to chime on May 10.
On May 11th I called the dispute department to make sure they had received all documentation and additional documentation that I had including screenshots of my location at the time of every single dispute, my Target shopping history both in store and online and my clock in from work. All disputes were closed by May 12, 2021 stating that my dispute was denied. At first everything was pretty good! Sending money to family was so easy and instantly received, earned 1.0, no fees, extra $40-$100 offered free that you can borrow to cover overdrafts if necessary even! I thought wow this is how banks should be! Several months go by and interest rate suddenly drops no warning, few weeks after that my account is suddenly frozen without warning or with permission or even a notification sent to me and how I found out was when I had an emergency a day or 2 after it was frozen. I needed money right away of course and I couldn’t use my card or get any help from them to send money to my husband's account even, NOTHING. They pretty much said, "Oh well you’ll have to wait for the new card in the mail!" I was told it was because they thought a fraudulent transaction was made which it wasnt it was mine and they declined the payment on top of it.
Then several months after that is when THE BIG “I CANT BELIEVE YOU DID THIS” EVENT HAPPENED!! THEY HAD BEEN STEALING MY PAYMENTS TO A NEW CREDIT CARD I JUST OPENED!! I was trying to create a higher credit score for myself after many many years of not ever needing or thinking of such things. But smh, I stupidly didn’t notice it happening until the 3rd payment! The first 2 payments only one was sent but the CC company that it went to took over a week to process the payments and with 6 daughters and the 500 emails I get a day and holy hectic life, I just missed the email that it was declined. I was new to the internet on top of it which didn’t help at all..
The second time it happened I had a lot of activity on it and didn’t keep track of the balance close enough to dispute the amounts chime said I had at the time of the transactions but oddly though I could have sworn there was plenty in there to cover everything, I know there was but couldn’t prove it so I said I’m not letting that happen again. I'm making screenshots before and after of each major transaction so they can’t ever tell me I had insufficient funds ever again! So the 3rd transaction to my CC Company I had to make a triple payment to catch up on my balance and payments which was $250! Payments I made already but had to pay again because it caused overdue payments, late fees, and my credit score dropped almost 100points the next month from it!! I had to pay it all immediately and Couldn’t wait for Chime to pay me back or it would only get worse and well it did!
My card was closed even though I paid it and told they wouldn’t reinstate me because I just opened it and they never got paid but 1 payment! I tried to defend myself but I had no luck (which was kind of mean of Credit one Bank to do especially that I had proof of the illegal behavior Chime did to me)! So I am very insulted by them having no compassion whatsoever. I just kept saying, "Please don’t do this to me. It’ll ruin my credit even more that I’ve tried so very hard to raise to buy a decent car and a little house for us." I contacted and argued and pleased and argued some more and showed them my photos and figures from Jan - and every other day since up to today, over 4 months of demanding they pay me back, I have proof. How dare you say I had insufficient funds each time I made a payment!!
They would flat out lie to me and send the same scripted response, word for word by every single CS rep I contacted and I’ve submitted over 30 requests and complaints to every branch of communication I could access too! Now I’m out for blood and will take this to the next level and sue them for ruining my credit, my credit scores, my trustworthiness to my card companies and the domino effect caused by it all. They have to be brought to justice for this blatant deviant behavior! I’m not giving up one bit! You messed with the wrong Mom CHIME! I can’t even sleep anymore over this. I feel so frustrated and stabbed in the back! Ughh.

I'd hate to think that they can lock people out with money in their accounts and you would be left with no customer service to handle your problem.

So, I got my stimulus check after a while and decided to use their mobile deposit. And it got rejected...did it again, it got rejected, did it again...got rejected. Customer service on the chat server decided that I probably should have the US Treasury go ahead and reissue the check that I had to wait two months for...so great. I'm not going to do that. I plan to march to Walmart and have them cash it for me. Mainly because they cannot verify that there is a software error that is throwing the check back. So, a software bank company is extremely great at that. I told them it came from the government. I gave them the address. I just opened it. So great..."Sorry, it was rejected, we can't do anything about it." If you can't do anything about deposits, that's a basic function from banks. So I'll go to Walmart and ask them if they have a bank account.

Started my account in early March. Deposited $20 on the 13th of March (luckily started with a small amount). Went home to see if the deposit worked. Opened the app and found out my account was suspended. I received no notice by email or phone that my account was suspended. Called supposed customer support to ask why my account was suspended, why I wasn't notified of suspension and why I was allowed to add money to a suspended account. I got answers to none of these questions just that I needed to send an email with 2 proof of identity and proof of residence. Did that and 3 days later received an email saying they needed a pic of front and back of ID. Did that and 4 days later they said they needed a pic with me holding the ID to my face and again proof of residence.
11 days later I still hadn't heard back from them and I called the supposed cust service and asked what was going on. Was told that the letter needed to be a bill. I guess a letter from the veteran's hospital was insufficient to prove my address. I explained that all my bills are electronic so I don't receive bills in the mail and asked to be transferred to the suspension department. Oh you can only reach them by email and every time you email them they start the investigation over. Absolutely the worst bank ever, they should be shut down. They might be great but once you run into a problem it will not be resolved in a timely manner.

Horrible banking experience! I have been with Chime Online Bank for over a year. Unfortunately, On the 18th of March, 2021 at 9:21pm, there was a transaction to my spending account of $1003.74 posted to the Lufkin, TX Walmart. As I was in bed at the time said transaction was posted, I contacted Chime the following day. During my call with Chime, I canceled my card, locked my account and filed a dispute against that transaction. Chime categorized the transaction as an unauthorized transaction. After the call, I filed a police report with the Lufkin Police Department and have a Detective on the case. I went to Walmart and spoke with a manager about the so-called "unauthorized transaction" .
The manager looked in the system of all recent transactions associated with the card that was used and nothing about this particular transaction appears in their system. On the 23rd of March, 2021, I received an email from Chime stating that there were no errors on my account. They did not even do an investigation... I contacted Chime to reopen the case and I received an email a few hours later stating that they are sticking with their decision. Chime wants me to personally provide proof that I didn't spend or receive the funds of a nonexistent charge before I can reopen the case again. They actually want me to do their investigation... I have called them every day and I am told something different every time. I was told that the first person I spoke with miscategorized my dispute; now, I'm told it is a duplicate charge.
Their representatives are extremely rude, each of them tell me something different and none of them are of any help. I am now stuck with a negative balance that my direct deposits are going towards. They can't explain to me how this has happened. I feel totally violated and victimized by my own bank.. I am not sure where to turn for help. I have records of calls, a statement and a Detective is in the process of gathering other documentation. I just want my story heard to protect people from such a crooked company that obviously doesn't care about their customers and or clients. Any and all help getting the word out would be greatly appreciated.

Opened a Chime Account and was promised $75 as referral bonus. Used the Chime provided link to refer someone and they used the link, followed the instructions, set-up direct deposit but never received referral bonus. Contacted customer service and was advised that the person I referred did not use the link that was provided. I knew this was a lie because the person I referred was my husband; I sent him the link and signed him up from his phone using the actual link that I sent him (he was too lazy to do it himself).
The Supervisor I spoke with sounded like a used car salesmen and kept saying how he Would Never lie and that the link was never accessed and used. Seriously!! Come on - when I told him I actually did everything for my husband, he started to stutter and said I must have done something wrong. How can you possibly signup incorrectly if they create the link for you to send. The entire situation annoyed me because I could see right through the foolishness. He even went as far to say, "I just tested the link and it is working fine, just refer more people using the link and it will work, I promise - I would NEVER LIE." I was so disgusted with the foolishness I hung up - we both closed our accounts. Sometimes Brick & Mortar is just better.

Although Chime does have a very user friendly app that makes it convenient to see your stuff, I would NOT recommend Chime to anyone after my experience. I worked at a bank for a year, and I know how banking is supposed to work. They make it "easy" to link your other checking accounts to Chime, but what you don't know is if you transfer funds to Chime, it could take up to a FULL SEVEN days, that's FIVE business days to credit your funds. Ironically enough, this didn't happen to me when I transferred funds under $100. It took 2 or 3 days.
When I transferred $1400 to Chime, it showed up available 5 days after my bank paid them. I called and spoke to two managers and two supervisors, and all of them tried to tell me they couldn't make my ACH deposit available even though I very well know ACH funds are ALWAYS immediate funds at any legitimate bank. The app showed me it would be available on the 7th day, and it gave me a date. However, it didn't actually release my funds until 3pm the day.
What gets me, though, is how AWFUL and inept the training is for the management. I had a supervisor refuse to transfer me to a manager until I verified my account when I had just done so with the automatic answering AND the agent who transferred me to her. I had to ask FIVE times before she finally transferred me. Lisset also wouldn't tell me how to spell her name correctly when I asked her a few times. She made sure she didn't say it quickly, and she says she isn't allowed to give me her last name. The manager Rick didn't do anything to help me but tell me, "Oh, it could take still another day. And there's nothing I can do and there's no one who can help you." Sure, I believe that.

My check has not been mailed yet according to the agents to whom I have spoken. Also, there are no native English-speaking customer service agents. All agents are in foreign call centers. At first CHIME reversed the direct debit then weeks later they reapplied the amount back into my checking account thus making me overdraft over $5,000. They are also currently taking my stimulus checks the government mistakenly sent to them during the pandemic, because they didn't know I have since closed the account. It does not state that you cannot make multiple payments of a deposit into your account or you would never get refer which I know a lot of people like me are just getting the card to expect that referral money and if that's if so and you did not receive it that is the reason why because they did not state in the details that you cannot make multiple payments of a deposit into the account. The representatives (it took 5 of them) who barely spoke English, instead of placing the simple stop payment, "disputed" the check and I soon received an email stating the dispute was denied and would NOT be getting my rent money back.
I called yet again and spoke to someone else who barely spoke English, who told me what I already knew, that this is a simple stop payment and the money would be placed in my account within 3 days. I then looked in my account after 3 days and discovered that they had placed a stop payment on the proper check, and another check that had absolutely nothing to do with my original lost check. Chime was great UNTIL the day I needed a representative to help, these people are not trained properly to work for a so called "bank" and do not care about the level of service that a Bank employee needs to. Up until recently, I didn’t have any problems with Chime, but it seems like there is a flaw in their security or something. First, it started with hackers trying to use my card online, but Chime had flagged all of those transactions and I was able to get another card which is a pretty minor inconvenience but still had to wait for the new card in the mail.
The second time my account was hacked and like many others on here reviewing, all of my money, 2200 dollars to be exact was transferred to an unknown person via the pay friends feature. I was on hold with Chime for over an hour and was basically told they had to investigate and wouldn’t receive any money back for at least two weeks. I did end up getting my money back and had it moved over to another account with another bank. Shortly after I received my money back they closed my account with no explanation. While the Chime Credit Builder card sounds good upfront it's not what it seems to be. First off because you set your own credit limit based on money deposited, the credit bureau does not have a benchmark of what percentage of credit is utilized. Second the statements are very confusing on what you spent and what was paid. Last but not least Chime is in no hurry to update balances to the bureaus. Mine has been paid in full since November 20, 2020 but the credit bureaus show I still owe 67 dollars. My advice go with a standard secured card if you wish to improve your credit.

Chime Bank completely ignores their customers and provides ZERO ability to speak with a real person even when money has been stolen from their account. I went to make a purchase Saturday morning and it was declined. I logged into my bank account to find that somebody had hacked into my Chime account, transferred all of my money from my Credit Builder account and Savings account into my Spending Account, and then used the Pay Friends feature to transfer that entire balance out of my bank account, leaving me with NOTHING. I proceeded to call Chime Bank and followed all of the prompts to get to a person, at which point I was told that there as an extended hold time due to call volume and to use the app and the call was disconnected. How is it possible to have a hold time if there isn't even an option to speak to someone? Of course, I went onto the app and reached out and submitted a request.
The irony in the fact that their chatbot tell you "I'm here you you 24/7" and then logs and completely ignores your request is not lost. That is just insulting. That money has now been missing from my account for 58 hours with ABSOLUTELY ZERO CONTACT FROM CHIME. There is no ability within the app to disable the Transfer to Friends feature, which I find ridiculous, especially in light of the fact that there are SO MANY COMPLAINTS online that this actually happens quite often to Chime Bank customers over and over through the exact same method. I've never used that feature before and have no need or desire to and I definitely think that there should be the ability to disable it and also a multiple authentication process required when transferring money out of the app to another person.
Even if someone had hacked my account, if there had been a second authentication required, it could have prevented them from being able to complete that transaction. I NEED MY MONEY BACK ASAP. Chime Bank needs to have human beings available for customers to speak with in cases of fraud at ALL TIMES. No person should have to wait going on 3 days to even get a response. I've got 4 kids to take care of and I'm a single parent, so getting this money back is of the utmost importance.

I regrettably joined Chime a few months ago. My objective was to find an account that I can manage my monthly expenses without the concern of massive loss as a result of fraud. I deposited funds on a need by basis. The first 45 days was ideal considering I had no real need to speak to anyone from members of the “service“ department. The first time I inquired of an unauthorized charge was the beginning of many horrific experiences. I submitted an official dispute with the correct department following instructions receiving a response in 28- days with no courtesy of a conditional credit pending the investigation. The results- “no errors found“. I immediately displayed my dissatisfaction Via the telephone. I highly disagreed with their results as I am fully aware of my daily transactions.
Receiving only repeated apologies from what appears to be foreigners located in another country; I decided to take matters into my own hands by contacting the merchant responsible for this charge and received a refund in the form of a check. I conveyed my successful attempt to members of Chime. I asked multiple members of the dispute department why it was so complicated for them to find a resolve in that grossly amount of time and it only took me 48 hours? I continue to receive apologies from individuals displaying a major language barrier and an unauthentic level of concern. Members of Chime are very quick to apologize but they offered no real efforts in helping the customer.
The second issue I discovered was a delayed refund. I returned an item and was promised a refund in a certain amount of time that did not occur. I submitted another dispute form clearly stating that a refund was not completed as promised. A member of Chime, again displaying a major language barrier, apologizing as we discussed the second dispute resulting in the same quote “no errors found”. I was informed by a member of chime that no “fraud” was discovered. I was appalled at this response considering I didn't file a fraud dispute but a failure to refund dispute.
After emailing a thread from the store manager regarding the approval of a full refund chime still declined the refund. I contacted the accounting department of the merchant to gain further clarity as to the delay even though I received in writing this commitment. I was informed by the merchant that several attempts to refund my money via the Chime debit card was attempted, however, Chime declined the funds. I circled back around to chime who of course offered another apology and offered to submit another dispute. I declined and proceeded to request a check from the merchant which I received. The third and final issue is regarding the return of a two hotel authorizations.
I was scheduled for travel due to work demands and decided to use my replacement chime card that I received three weeks later instead of the seven days that they promised. I checked into a hotel, and checked out, two days later. I noticed the delay regarding my large authorization hold being refunded. I contacted the Renaissance Hotel who confirmed to me in writing that the hold was released the following day of checkout. I dreaded contacting Chime regarding this delay.
After my third attempt to contact a member of Chime being on hold for over 35 minutes; I was faced with yet another road block by Chime. A member of Chime after forcing me too confirm two different transactions which normally they only require your last settled transaction before proceeding with the call, agreed to contact the hotel to speak to an agent. I was told by the Chime agent that the hotel agent did in fact confirm that all charges were settled but she did not have access to the authorization code which is in the presents clearly of the Chime representative, because she was not in the accounting department. The authorization could not be released per the chime policy.
Banking with Chime is really for desperate individuals who cannot bank elsewhere. Employees of chime display the most subpar service ever experienced. There is no protection for the customer neither is there any respect. I would not recommend anyone trusting their payroll nor deposited funds for bill pay. Do not join Chime!

I will try to keep this short as it could be an extremely long story. On December 30th I processed a mobile check deposit. Shortly after I realized it was going to take weeks for the funds to clear. I called Chime to cancel the transaction which is a service they offer, this was just 2 hours after the mobile transaction. After waiting on hold for 2 hours I was connected to a representative who said I would need to speak with a supervisor. After being on hold for another hour the supervisor answers. I explained the situation to him and he advised me I did not need to cancel the mobile deposit because all of my funds would be available that same night. I ask repeatedly, "Are you positive ALL of the funds will be available" to which he assured me yes all of them. With that being the case I no longer needed to cancel the deposit because I believe I would have my funds by the next morning.
The next day I check my account and nothing had become available. Over the next 4-5 days I called Chime back and every representative I talked to assured me all of my funds would become available just shortly after our call. It’s now January 8th and still I have nothing! I have been mislead and lied to by Chime managers and representatives on countless occasions. I cannot believe what an absolutely terrible level of customer service I have received. I was mislead by a supervisor that resulted in not having access to my funds that were for an emergency purpose. I was lied to repeatedly by many Chime representatives. This is unethical and as far as my research goes also illegal for a bank to do.

I submitted a dispute claim for a charge to my account that was paid to a fraudulent company. I made an online purchase of less than $100 for a Christmas gift for my daughter. Come to find out the company was a total sham run by a group overseas. I submitted my claim hoping to be reimbursed. Something I’ve done a few times with REAL traditional banks with 100% success. Not buying from a fake company, never had that happen before. But submitting a dispute over charges to my account. Not only could I not speak to a real person and my claim was taken by a bot, it was determined within 48 hours that they weren’t going to reimburse me. Via email nonetheless.
I’ve seen people reimbursed for much larger amounts, including myself, after either getting scammed or for services not rendered. I was told via email that my situation didn’t warrant being credited back the amount taken from me, and I’d receive a final decision in MARCH! I couldn’t be more unhappy with this company. The moment I find a better banking alternative I’m cutting up this card and never dealing with chime again.

I want to warn everyone of this company and how they are able to steal funds from person's or people with a lower income. I have been getting my check directly deposited for months. I was not able to access my account so I contacted them. I was told that there was some type of fraudulent activity going on with my account. I was told that the funds that were being deposited was suspicious. I had to upload my ID and paystubs verifying the information only for my account to be closed. They also kept my money that my job deposited into their bank. They have caused me a huge loss and I am single mother. I did let them know this. I spoke with a manager and they told me there is nothing that they can do. The money that was in the Chime account was legal only from my job and has been sent from the job since May. DO NOT PUT YOUR MONEY HERE

I was on the phone for 3hr 58min hours being passed from department to department and getting no resolution to someone hacking my account and stealing all the money out of my account. The best they would do is tell me they could do nothing until Feb. 1st and then they may give me my stolen money back on a temporary basis as they would not be done with the investigation to see whether or not I am lying about the claim. Not one individual in the entire four hour traumatic experience after the trauma of seeing all my money stolen, spoke English as a first language or at least not without heavy accents that required constant repeating so I could understand them and they understand me. The attitudes were so dismissive by the "Supervisors" yet the frontline customer care reps had plenty of empathy but no knowledge or power to do anything about my predicament.

This needs to be heard for the 1000s of people that have been scammed by Chime Bank. I am sitting here with my family with no money , no gas, or food because of Chime. I thought I did something to make this happen until I did my research. In the first round of stimulus checks Chime randomly closed accounts right when they got stimulus. After reading I noticed that all the closures/emails look the same and are closed for the exact same reason. They close the account with a message that says you are not eligible for a refund. Meaning they keep your money.
