I had been with Chime for less than a year. I recently had my account hacked and $1800 transferred to a individual whom I do not know. I contacted Chime customer service who did not treat the situation as serious as I thought they should. The individual who transfer the payment did it thru the Pay Friends feature. I was then able to see this person email address which was **. When I searched google I was able to find that this individual works at Fiserv in Atlanta. Fiserv handles digital banking for Chime and a lot other financial information. This makes sense how this person was able to login to my account with no issue.
I made Chime aware of this information and received my money back 3 days later. The email I received states this was because of an “error”. I do not think that is sufficient enough for possibly this person being able to access my account and personal information. I will warn anyone who thinking to start a account with Chime to reconsider. You will have more security with a real bank.

On 12/21/2020 around 5:13p CST, I was a victim of identity theft and hacking that occurred when my phone was stolen. I currently live in Chicago, IL. I logged in from another device and found that someone had transferred $700.00 from my savings account to my checking. Then, they also stole $1,180 from my checking account! They stole the money by using the pay friends option that Chime offers. I have never interacted with or paid this person before. I am currently disabled and was not able to submit a police report at the time of the theft, but I immediately locked my card (which cancelled it) and called Chime Bank to see if the issue could be resolved. This was shortly after I noticed the transfer.
Chime told me to fill out a claim form and describe what happened. After speaking to Chime, I checked my T-Mobile call history and saw two calls were received from a (904) area code. On 12/22/2020 at 1:08a, I received an email from Chime stating that there was suspicious activity on my account from Hollywood, FL. This was very odd because the alert was sent LONG AFTER the incident occurred! The hackers must have stole my phone, called each other, sent my account information, then transferred the money from my account!
On 12/23/2020, I received an email from Chime stating that my claim was denied and that no error was found with the transaction. I requested supporting documents to understand why the claim was denied and they sent an email with false information. The documents they sent stated my phone was in my possession, but I did not state that on my claim form. They also stated I unlocked and locked my card multiple times, but I only locked it once to prevent any other fraudulent activity on my account and so I could be shipped a new card.
Any time I attempt to call Chime, I am transferred to Customer Support, then to the Claims team, but they state they cannot do anything to reopen the claim or have the Disputes team further the investigation. As of now, the claim is still currently closed. I would like for my claim to be reopened and investigated properly. The account owner that did the fraudulent transfer has yet to be investigated and blocked from Chime. Chime should have a holding transfer period and then freeze the funds if someone reports/disputes a fraudulent transfer. I would also like the claim to be overturned and settled in my favor, which means I should be credited for the amount of $1,880.00 due to their negligence in alerting me of suspicious activity.

Chime seems to have some major cybersecurity flaws. Therefore, my account has been hacked over 6 times within the last week. I keep receiving security alerts even after changing my password. I attempted to sign in again to change my password and close the account but can't even get Forgot My Password to work. This is an issue I have had in the past with them and is what caused me to switch banks entirely. My personal information is still at risk of being stolen since the account was never closed and there does not seem to be any sense of urgency on the matter.

I’ve had Chime Bank for approximately a year now and look somewhere else. You cannot receive money transfers, and cannot pull out more than $300 a day. No matter what. My transactions are constantly being blocked regardless of how much money is in the bank. It’s ridiculous that I have a bank account but I’m unable to receive transfer or take money out after being a year long customer. Very negative experience. And customer service is mediocre. They aren’t able to answer questions or help.

I’ve been a Chime member for over a year. The Chime App is very user friendly and even straight forward with finding your information. This is a perfect bank for someone with direct deposit. Chime is the type of bank for someone who is just starting out financially, or someone who is restarting their financial life. There is no monthly charge. Someone can easily open a savings account with the checking, and it’s fairly easy to move funds to each account. For my account, chime automatically puts a few dollars into my savings, which is super helpful for me.
I really wish mobile check deposit wouldn’t be so spotty all the time. Whenever I do a mobile check deposit on a weekend, it rarely goes through. The times my check hasn’t been accepted, I redeposit it on a weekday and it goes through most of the time. It’s very strange, especially since I have no other problems with other banks.
Chime has a feature on the app where you can find surcharge free ATM’s. I went to one of the ATM’s Chime pulled up for me, and I couldn’t do anything. I tried depositing cash and the ATM showed a message about how Chime didn’t support it. This can be a bit frustrating, especially since cash and check are very difficult with putting into a Chime account. I am aware that customer service does take forever. A lot of times the issue will be resolved once they contact me back which can be a bit frustrating as well. Anyway, I’m hoping my experience will get better once my employer switches me from check to Direct Deposit. If not I may have to go to a new bank.

I filed a claim with Chime on my spending account because somebody had taken $899 from my account the first week of December. I sent in all my paperwork. I even provided them the name of the person who did it because I found that out on my own. I gave them their contact information. I did pretty much their job for them only to receive a denial letter stating that they haven’t found any wrongdoing. I then asked for copies of the documents to which they used in order to make this decision and now I have to wait 10 more additional business days for them to email them to me. I spoke with the supervisor in the disputes department and he basically told me that him it probably look like I was committing fraud with this person. I about lost my mind. I’m going to make sure every news outlet and anyone that will listen will know how big of a crook this company really is.

I have been a member of Chime for over a year and half. Recently my account was hacked and they took every penny I had, I called customer service. They told me they cancel my card and sent me another one. The next business day which was Monday I received my money back, only to wake up on Wednesday and my money was gone again. There is someone in the system going around transferring money from your account to theirs. As a customer I am not satisfied with the outcome. I am now waiting again for them to see what is going on with my account. This was my Christmas money.

My Chime account was set up for the sole purpose of an occasional Uber ride, never used for anything else, & not used in nearly a year.. Somehow the account was hacked & $39.99 was fraudulently withdrawn. I used the chat feature to file a case & was eventually credited back the $39.99. The same day as the credit the account was hacked again. The chat feature referred to my original claim & would not let me file a new 1, so I shut off the withdrawal function & transferred the balance out of the account. Every subsequent day I've received a notification of a new attempt on my account.
Today I called Chime. After 25 minutes on hold I explained that I still needed to be credited for the 2nd hack. I was put on hold for 10 minutes. A new person picked up the line & I had to re-explain everything for a 2nd time. He then said he needed to transfer me to someone else. Another 10 minutes on hold, re-explain everything for a 3rd time. By now I just want to be credited my money, close the account. This 3rd person closed the account then informed me he was transferring me to someone else re: my refund.
By now I'm well over an hour into this phone call. My frustration got the best of me because once I verified the account was closed I told the guy "Keep the fraud charge money, I'm through w/ you people". I know, not very adult but seriously, over an hour of my time for a $40 fraud charge claim. To say this company is run by a bunch of idiots would be giving idiots a bad name!

When I first went with, I was very happy with all the cool features they had and EASY system set up to move money and pay my people without having to leave home. My first encounter was when I got scammed outta $317.00, I sent to claims, all the required documents including a police report I filed with the local police, like many of you who have dealt with a Chime dispute, they did absolutely Nothing and never did anything about it nor did they give me any type of credit.
I still chose to stay with them, despite losing my money and things went good for a month and just recently when I went to pay my phone bill, my card was declined. I went to the app and had a waving hand tell me goodbye and I retried my email and got a message that chime was having difficulties at the moment and to try again later. I never got ahold of support and here I am sitting here two days later with no response from the support team and all my emails I've sent have had no replies.
If this is happening to you, please contact me. We cannot let this go on. I am tired of just taking the "okay" approach. We have to take a stand against this type of highway robbery. If we can't come together for our hard earned money then what do we stand together for? This is customer mistreat. I am not going to take it. I will be going after them for a full refund and I want to help those in the same situation. We got to do it together if we want change. The more the better. Together we stand, even against a crooked online bank that has its members duped into believing that Chime cares about its members when members cannot even get a live agent over the phone. Support won't respond, I have filed a formal complaint and need input on the next move. If you have any suggestions, please advise. If this is or has happened to you, send an text message too. I am going to fight this with or without support, I will be heard.

I want to let you know there are some ridiculous limits to your own money if you decide to add your money to this bank or the prepaid card.... I went to the ATM today to pull out $520 and I got a declined message at the ATM and soon after a message from Chime saying "Hi, your chime visa debit card was declined at ATM for AMT. Declines can happen for multiple reasons, even when your spending account has a positive balance and is in good standings. In this case *ATM may have made an error. If you haven't already, we recommend you attempt to pay for this transaction one more time. Sincerely, The Chime Team"
I tried multiple times with multiple amounts and $300 was the ticket! But trying to pull out another $20 brought up the same error!! So I assumed it was the ATM at fault and went to a bank, there I received a exceeded my daily withdrawal limit message!!! So I called and the representative told me "there is a $500 daily limit on ATM withdrawals and that is the issue." I told her "there was no indication in the email or the app that there was a limit and that I had only taken out $300." She informed me, "I see your balance can cover it" but there is nothing she can do and to try again tomorrow!!!! I'm now closing my account with CHIME and I'm warning others to do the same, don't be a victim!!!

The Chime spending account, an online/app based 'no fee' checking account; but the one crucial feature you will not find on the Chime app, chime.com, or your Chime monthly statement is a RUNNING BALANCE. This, along with their 'no fee' overdraft feature called 'Spot Me' are equally egregious in how they exploit their customers. Without a running balance, you are at their whim. Whatever they say your balance is...well, that's what it is. If you return an item that was purchased using your PIN number, you will see the refund several days later, back-posted to the date of the return-- but you will not receive credit for the return. Without a running balance, it's a loss. Contact customer service (ZenDesk), they will run you around in circles and see u you in hell. Chime will not acknowledge they siphoned a cent. They are a House of Cards. If they make one adjustment, due to an error on their part, they will cease to exist.
I filed a complaint with the FDIC, the insurance company-- I mean government agency assigned to 'oversee' Chime. My complaint consisted of 57+ pages of detailed documentation, and a running balance column I ADDED USING A PEN AND CALCULATOR, complete with footnotes. I provided the FDIC emails I received from Chime, in which Chime is explicit that monthly statements do not include pending transactions; and then screenshots of the ELECTRONIC monthly statement (mailed statements are not an option) in the Chime app, which included pending transactions, and varying ending balance figures throughout the night.
The FDIC took a month to respond, and closed my case, claiming I had made a mistake in my calculations, a transaction that occurred on a day in May which no such transaction existed. The FDIC failed to specify in their conclusion and refused to respond when I demanded clarification. This is not $3 or $20 or $50. Chime has stolen hundreds upon hundreds of dollars from my account...and I'm on UNEMPLOYMENT. They. Do. Not. Care. Nor does the FDIC. You cannot import monthly statements into a spreadsheet to tabulate, let alone Quicken; they use characters that don't function with any OCR software. Seriously. DO NOT bank with Chime. Hide your money in your wall or something. It's much, much safer.

I have been a Chime customer for a few years. I even referred friends to Chime. I love their no fee policy and how I received my pay check up to two days early. However, in June, 2020 I went on Vacation in CA for my birthday. A couple of days after I arrived, I started noticing transactions and transfers I did not approve. When I contacted Chime disputes they did refund my money for the exception of a purchase for $513.60 from Footlocker. This purchase took place in Florida after my investigation was done. I disputed with Chime again and they said "no error was found". I had my case reopened and I even sent them my boarding passes and information from CA. Chime is going to say "that was not enough evidence."
Here is my problem, I wasn't even in Florida, CA and Florida are on both sides of the coast. I just inquired again about my refund and Chime stated it was over turned by their investigation department. After speaking with five different people and I finally talked with a manager. He is going to say, they have to request the documents of the decision from the Disputes Department and I have to wait for the paperwork. This can take up to another 10 days. Then get this, if I don't agree with their decision, give them a call. I responded you will hear from me because I am telling you know, I did not make the purchase.

I disputed a $200.00 charge on my debit card. I had paid a current merchant out of my other bank account. I removed all information from their app before I closed it out. They still managed to withdraw money out of my Chime account. I disputed the charge back on 11/5/2020. I filled out all the paperwork and sent it in twice on 11/6 and 11/7. I called twice and the first lady told me that because of the holiday I should hear back from them on the 23rd. The 23rd came and I still did not see a provisional credit or any email from chime. I called today 11/24. The guy had a hard time pulling up any of my information saying that he doesn't see my dispute form.
He transfer me over to a manager and he said that he will escalate and that Ii should hear something in 3 business. SMH. I have emails stating that if they cant not resolve your dispute in 10 business days you will get a provisional credit and still I have nothing. Nobody was helpful nor did they care. If I had a regular bank I would of had a credit the same day if not the next.
A couple months ago I had the same issue. I ordered something off a current website and they shipped it the wrong address. merchant was giving me a hard time so I called chime and disputed it. They said it did not qualify for a provisional credit and that that I should hear from them by Sept. Mind you I disputed this charge back in July. I eventually was able to get the merchant to refund me. Almost two months later chime finally wrote me back saying that they see that the merchant had refunded me. I'm like no duh!!!. When I try to log into my account today, I am unable to and was told that my account was closed because of my name discrepancy by online support. I have now send 5 emails asking for an update to my account and have not received any type of communication back. I have been waiting for an hour or more. This is very unprofessional when dealing with someone's money being held up for Chime's mistake. Even if there is a discrepancy, I showed proof where I was told by their representative that I had nothing to worry about, and now I'm not receiving any communication. Kept telling me how being a veteran did not matter on anything that she does and she didn’t care who I was that she can talk however. So it was very suspicious that when I had this little altercation with someone that the next day my account full of money was closed.
I’ve been trying to call them all week and figure out what are they doing with the money they closed on my account and they have not got back to me. They’re saying they don’t see the issue and nothing is wrong. They are scam artists. They will take your money and not look back. Stay clear from here. Part of my income is paid by personal check. Before I opened a checking account, I had 2 separate conversations with customer service where I was very specific about what kind of checks I would need to deposit and was told it wouldn't be a problem. You have to set up direct deposit and wait a month to enable mobile check deposit. I did so, and changed all my auto pay bills to my Chime account, only to find they were lying, they do not, and never have accepted the type of personal checks I need to deposit. So now I get to change all my auto pay bills back to my old bank, as well as my direct deposits. Thanks for massively wasting my time so you could increase the number of accounts to your tally.

In June 2020 I attempted to open an account online to help my brother. He had an account with Chime and it would make bank transfers easier for him. I have several banking relationships and have never had any issues with opening an account. I received a welcome email and logged back in and answered the questions. I got to where I enter my social security number and it told me "Another account is using this social security number". I repeated this step and got the same answers. I tried every other email I used in the event maybe I signed up with another email address and still got the same response.
I called to report this issue and also emailed them too many times to count! I asked them to investigate because it was clear that either there was problem with their system, or there is fraud on my account and someone is using my social security number to bank with chime. Despite my plea for help, they send me emails such as the one below. No supervisor or anyone with authority will help me. I have even threatened to file complaints against them, and sue them, and they still don't reply. Example of an email:
"Hi **, Thanks for reaching back about this. I'm sorry to hear you had trouble signing up for Chime. Although I would be thrilled to help you out with this, I see that the system is not letting you sign in because of a failed enrollment. We vet your information through a security process, and if your information cannot be verified the application fails. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please let me know if I can assist you with anything else. Kind Regards, Annie | Chime Member Services"
They clearly don't care about their consumers and the relationship. I have sent them now at least 10 emails and I get no call back, and answers that are not helpful nor do they demonstrate any willingness on their part to resolve my serious concerns. I will hold them 100% liable and take action against them legally if there is identity theft and they just ignored me.

I've been banking with Chime for about 4 years and have utilized almost all of their features. Direct deposits were always reliable and spending with the visa card is safe and easy to use. You can block the card using the app if you misplace it, and ordering a replacement is free if it doesn't turn up. Recently, someone obtained my account info and made about $2,100 of charges to my card. Chime honored the visa 0% liability promise and within a week the money was back into my account.
I was also one of thousands of the lucky winners of a recent $200 prize from a social media marketing promotion. I have never had any issue with Chime. My last replacement card was mailed out with a bad chip in it and Chime bank discovered the error and expedited me a new card before the malfunctioning card even arrived. Refreshing to have a bank provide such great service and reliability in an age where big banks are becoming increasing unhelpful and sometimes even rude.

I came to Chime in the last 4 months during the current pandemic of 2020. I came to them after my bank of 5 + yrs closed my account without notice or warning in May 2020. With Chime, it's a single account that YOU CAN NOT deposit ANY checks unless they are made out to the account holder only. They say they're better banking for a new age but after further review, they are from the 1800s. I would never recommend them to anyone unless NO options were available. Their mobile deposit is atrocious. You must have the check 100% withing the image given or it will kick it out. The guided image is somewhat difficult based on the guided screen. Their service Representatives are horrible and act if you bothering them. Mobile banking is a new thing and needs a very serious upgrade.

I asked about it. You make me dispute and they denied me then maybe start disappearing again. When I split it down the middle and pay one bill they cleaned it. Declined. So I was charged $35 fee as well as an extra $60 for an authorized charge. While I’m waiting on my card I’ll pay a couple bills. It never went through using my account and routing information. As soon as I told him I want my money back they cut my account and told me they’ll mail me my money within 30 days. They are a rip off and they will be soon going downhill.

The representative asked me to email my driver’s license to authenticate my identity. I immediately sent over a copy of my drivers license and later my social security card to ensure they had all the information needed to validate my identity and update my account back to the proper login details. I went on about my day assuming that Chime had my back and would ensure that my account was protected from this weird activity before my money went missing.
Later I attempted to request an Uber when I found that my card had been declined. I immediately contacted Chime’s customer service department again and was told that my balance was -$2. Someone hacked my account for over $2300 at Food Lion. I was very angry at that point, not just at the hacker but also Chime because they had all the information necessary to prevent this situation from happening but instead did nothing which had left me with an empty account. I would like to start this review by saying Chime currently has over 200 arbitrations filed against them. The main cause of this is due to their treatment of people who are currently receiving unemployment benefits. They have quite obviously been trying to clean up their mess by pushing out positive reviews, instead if actually dealing with the issue at hand. I have been a Chime member for about 2 years now and have had a few issues. Things like cancelling my card and sending a new one without my knowledge. While extremely annoying, these were minor inconveniences compared to what they are doing now. Chime is actively suspending accounts for folks receiving unemployment. This is currently happening to me.
I am self-employed and am completely unable to work due to the pandemic, so I applied for PUA in my state and was approved. Chime has many things on their website enthusiastically stating they will assist their customers with receiving unemployment if they need it, so it never crossed my mind that using my Chime account to receive my PUA would be a bad idea. Of course, I was wrong.
Chime placed a hold on my account last month citing unusual deposits- the only deposits I have received were from PUA. They sent an email asking for documents to prove my identity, and also asked for proof of deposit origins. In addition to this, they asked- quite invasively- for a written description of the origin of funds deposited, and an explanation on how I planned to spend my money. While this seemed odd, I complied as I have thousands of dollars in my account, bills to pay and a family to take care of. After I sent everything, I was told I would receive a response within 2-3 business days, and if I don't hear back, I can contact them. It has been 30 days since that email and I have yet to hear anything from them.
I've called and emailed over 50 times now, and each time it's like smacking into a brick wall. No one can give me any answers, everyone I speak to on the phone claims it is not their department. None of my emails have been responded to. I am at risk of losing my home, I am unable to care for my medical needs, and I have inquired a slew of late fees from bills being past due. They have responded to my Better Business Bureau complaint, and in it stated they were reviewing the information I sent them. They encouraged me to email them if I had any questions, so that's exactly what I did. They did not respond.
I have contacted legal council and was told that this is quite common for Chime- there has been thousands of cases against them over the years. The majority of Chime customers are low-middle income individuals. They take advantage of this, thinking that folks will not seek out legal council to fight these account suspensions and closures. They are actively violating the state consumer fraud act and this is not the first time. It certainly won't be the last. I encourage people to go elsewhere when looking to open an account. While Chime is an FDIC member, they actively break the law. How they are able to remain in business is unbelievable, but I doubt they will get away with what they are doing now. To do this to people during a pandemic is not just unprofessional, but downright evil. Having the money to pay my bills and buy food, yet not being able to access it is one of the worst feelings in the world.
I am nearly certain that the majority of their positive reviews are doctored, because when you look at all of the past and pending lawsuits, it's hard to believe that anyone would recommend this bank. It is one of the most cruel things I have ever experienced, and the impacts of this will last long after my arbitration is settled. Please, look elsewhere. Do your research and Google "Chime consumer fraud". Be careful.

If you are going to bank, do not be foolish enough to online bank. First chance of a mess up and they are going to keep your money and not credit the money back. I tried to transfer money to somebody thru Cash App and the person I sent the money to could not figure out how to get the money from the app. So I tried to just get my money back and without being able to talk to somebody live, I had my bank, Chime, get involved. Not only did they not credit me my money back, but they denied me without even giving me any kind of word about that denial. The only reason I found that out was through persistency. If I show them the cash app app, it says plain as day that my money is pending to the other person. They were able to stop the payment from happening because my friend tried using them again and figured it out, but he cannot get the money because Chime put a hold on it.
Somebody tell me how you can put a hold on somebody's money but not give it back to them. I talked to over 25 different people and nobody is on the right page. I could ask the same question to everybody I talk to and get 25 different answers sorry... Meanwhile, after 3 weeks now oh, I can't get my money and we aren't talking a couple dollars, we're talking hundreds. I finally get an email about when I'm supposed to get my money credited but the timing has already been and gone and I still can't get my money. It's funny how you can deny somebody's money being investigated but yet you can put a hold on that money so it cannot be given.
These people need to follow a blueprint before they start a corporation such as banking. I've had to ask for my money many times from many banks or even debit cards that control my government money. They aren't even a bank, yet I have no problem getting my money back. This Chime is a rip-off and if you experience somewhere down the line, a situation to where your money is in question, these people are going to keep your money and tell you they denied you. If you use these people, you are setting yourself up for failure. Getting your money 2 days before everybody else is really worth this kind of **?

The first purchase I tried to make through cash app. which turned out to be fraudulent and cash app did not process the order so the money remained on my card.
So the Saturday before Easter I went to the grocery store to buy Easter dinner. Everything was great, Easter Sunday I used my card to pay my T-Mobile bill, great again. Monday, April 14th I went to Walmart to get groceries for the week, everything went through perfectly no problem. Then my husband needed $280.00 in cash for a bill so we went to the ATM in said Walmart and by mistake, I hit $2800.00 instead of $280.00. I tried again and it was declined! There was $296.00 in my Chime account.
I then received an email stating my Chime account was closed and they no longer wished to be my bank (WHAT), no ifs and or buts and I would be receiving a check in 30 days, again that was 4/14/2020, it is now August 6th, 2020. I began utilizing Chime because I liked the idea of a strictly online bank. For years I felt that I had more freedom than I did with brick and mortar. The app is incredibly user friendly. Then I lost my debit card, requesting a new one was at the click of a button. But, it never arrived. Three weeks went by and I finally got ahold of someone in customer service for help-- they don't provide a 1-800 # and there is no physical bank to go in and speak with someone or withdraw any of your funds so I felt mildly stranded. It took 24 hours for someone to respond to my initial online request they let me know they would be more than happy to resend my debit card.
I asked for it to be overnighted because at this point I had followed their process and needed to pay some bills with money I had very little access to. They would not. They told me I could pay all my bills with my checking and routing number, which was not true, and when I explained this to them they acted like this was my problem. Yes, initially losing my card was my fault, I own that and was willing to wait for a new debit card, now I have been without a debit card almost a full month with no support from my bank. While in many ways online only is great and very user friendly I have found that once a true problem arises, being unable to go to a bank and withdraw funds or speak to a person outside of an app has been a horrible experience. I would not recommend this company no matter how great the perks look initially.

I tried to log back in but it needed me to confirm a verification code that they had sent to my old cell phone. I contacted them by email and was told to sent my identification. I sent photos of my passport and everything else they asked for.
After 24 hours I resent the email because I got no response. I was then told I would need to supply them with a valid government issued ID. I'm pretty sure a passport is a valid form of ID. My driver's license expired last year and I was unable to renew it by mail, so my other ID is expired. I went ahead and sent that to them, along with my passport, old phone number, new phone number, debit card number, and social security number. I thought this should be sufficient to prove that I was me.
Apparently George didn't agree. He gave me some excuse about audits and because my ID was expired he couldn't help me. Luckily I knew that I could take the money out of my account via my linked bank account. I then actually contacted my daughter to use her phone number. Online I entered all the the info to change the phone number and put in the verification code they sent to her. I did this seven times and, oh my an error occurred. Imagine that.
After two days of anger and anxiety I was able to log into my account. I transferred everything out today so hopefully it will make its way to my other bank account in a day or two. I immediately reached out to Chime, as I was sitting at my desk at work, bank card in purse, and had not withdrawn this money. Chime support staff informed me that they could not dispute the charge until it posted. It finally posted to my account on Saturday, April 18th. The bank tacked on an additional $2.50 fee for an out of network ATM. I called Chime support and opened a claim right then, and they cancelled my debit card, issuing me a new card. They informed me there would be a provisional credit added to my account while they investigated the transaction. I asked where the ATM was located that this charge came through, and it was showing the location on the far south side of Chicago, where I have never been before.
After trying to explain this to the representative, and asking if they could have someone check the video footage of the ATM, I was assured that "these things happen sometimes" and that it would be cleared up shortly. I received my new debit card in the mail 5 days later and activated it. I also was continuing to receive push notifications on my cell from the Chime app that transactions were being denied from my old card because it was reported lost/stolen. I took screenshots of these notifications and sent them to Chime via email with the claim ID# included to justify my case more so...there was no response. I followed up via phone 7 days after opening the claim to request a status update, and the representative informed me that I should receive the provisional credit no later than April 29th.
Today, April 29th, no credit. Instead, I received an email from the bank claiming that they found no evidence of fraudulent activity on my account, and therefore no funds would be returned to me. Confused, and frustrated, I opened a complaint/case with the Better Business Bureau and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau on April 29th, 2020. I finally received a response from Chime regarding their decision to not honor my case on May 13th, 2020: "Investigation result: As you mentioned, card was in possession and pin was memorized during the disputed transaction occurred."
What a complete load of nonsense. To this day, I am still $363.50 in the hole, and I have since closed my Chime account. Let this be a testament or the reason to stay away from Chime bank. This happened to me, and I can only speak from my own experience, but do not leave your money in the hands of this bank. You may get your direct deposit a few days earlier than with other banks, but it's a dangerous gamble, as your money is not protected.

I’ve been using Chime as my primary bank for over a year and closed all of my “real” bank accounts, stupidly, because using a app was easier. They closed my account this morning, instantly without any warning or explanation. I had to email them that evening after work (because you can’t call them on the phone) to see why and they replied “your account is not in accordance with our ‘Terms or Service’ and/or our ‘Account Agreement.” That told me nothing and is very generic.. And that a check with my balance with be mailed in 30 days.. I’ve saved over $6,000 this year from working hard and being on a budget and kept it all in this account, and now I can’t touch any of my money for 30 days with my rent and car payment due next week, and credit card bill due in 2 weeks, which will be a missed payment on my credit report???? Who’s gonna with my late fees... This is not fair at all, I didn’t do anything wrong...

I opened a spending and savings account with Chime, an online bank, in June 2020. I linked my Chime account with accounts at two other banks to facilitate transferring funds to my Chime account. I was in the process of closing one of my linked bank accounts and scheduled a transfer to Chime that would zero out my linked account that would allow me to close that account. The external bank, that I was attempting to close accounts at, sent me a cashiers check for the full amount and subsequently closed the account. This check amount, was the exact amount that I had scheduled to transfer to Chime and, when Chime executed the transfer, the transfer was denied. This is where my problem and complaint against Chime begins.
When this occurred, Chime suspended my account on July 2, 2020. I was notified via email about the account suspension and was informed of the appeal process and documents required. I responded with a short written explanation and the required documentation on around July 5, 2020. I was told that a decision by Chime would be rendered in 24-48 hours. That is the last I have heard anything. After more that a dozen phone calls to customer service, my accounts remain suspended as of July 15, 2020. I am one of the lucky ones, in that I only stand to lose a smaller amount in my Chime accounts. I have discovered that this bank is notorious for this, seemingly fraudulent practice of suspending Chime accounts. The BBB currently had 2,177 complaints filed against Chime when I last checked.
I can't state strongly enough that this bank should be avoided at any cost! It appears to be using fraudulent banking practices. Chime is listed as being based in San Francisco, CA, but I suspect that may not be the case, as they have no physical location there other than a P.O. Box. Chime advertises FDIC insured accounts that is either through Stride Bank or Bancorp Bank. I suspect that this bank is not a business that is truly based in the United States. It's my opinion that Chime should be investigated by some US regulatory agency.

For the first month Chime was great. My boyfriend got his paychecks 2 days early as advertised and essentially had no issues. After receiving another paycheck, the nightmare of this company began. We used his card at the gas station and when trying to use it again that same day the card was declined. Knowing we had funds we called customer support and were told his account was frozen due to "suspicious activity." We were told his card was cancelled and they would send us a new card. Okay, weird but it happens I guess. Well 2 weeks later we still had not received the card. We called and called for 3 days straight with no answers. Then, when we finally got ahold of someone we were told "whoops it looks like we never sent the card." How does this happen?
We need our money to pay bills, buy food, etc. and this had really put us in a bad spot. We waited again for the new card to come in the mail. Again, 2 weeks later we got a card in the mail from Chime, BUT they had sent us a credit building card and not a debit card. It was USELESS to us. Fed up with this bank we decided we would try to send our money to my bank account. 10 days went by with the money from the Chime account saying "pending". Then for no reason Chime declined the transfer.
We called for days and they said they could do nothing more to help us, and that it could take another 10 business days to go back to his account. Well, the money FINALLY went back yesterday. We went to use the card today and they had closed his account!!!! Now we are worried that he will never recover his money from this account. Thousands of dollars we have been waiting on for MONTHS and we have not been able to access our own money! This company is a joke! Please DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM. If you value being able to access your own money and pay bills, and buy food, stay far away from Chime.

Chime bank took money from my account by mistake and made it my burden to prove the indifference. I provided a receipt which clearly shows what happened. On June 22, 2020 I received notice of suspicious activity on my account and was notified that a hold was placed on my account. I contacted Chime immediately and was asked to provide documentation verifying my identity and source of funds. The original agent I spoke with was also in contact with a member of the Support team, by the name of Morgana, who confirmed she received all the documentation that I submitted. I was informed it takes 1-3 business days to review my documentation and for the matter to be resolved. I received a follow up email on the next day, June 23, requesting additional documentation.
I contacted customer service after sending the additional documentation and was eventually transferred to a supervisor by the name of Louis. He informed me that agents Clark & Morgana of the Support team were both currently working on my case and that they are the only department who can authorize the release of the hold. I asked numerous general questions about my account which he had no answer for and after being excessively rude and belligerent to me, he proceeded to end the call as I was speaking.
I explained that I recently opened my Chime account (May 2020) and that my unemployment benefits are the only funds that have been deposited to the account. I received multiples deposits on June 5, 2020 as New York State owed me several weeks of back pay. I sent all the documentation showing each deposit and the date it was released from NYS and the day it was sent to Chime.
On June 25, 2020 I receive an email stating final request of additional documentation in which I resent everything I have already sent including my license, FDNY ID (as that was my former employer), 2019 W2, copy of my lease, copy of my electric bill, copy of online unemployment portal (stating when my benefits start/end, amount received, and date of every payment issued).
I received a follow up email on June 29, 2020 from Sheree on the Support team requesting the same documentation again. I obliged to the request and sent the information again. I contacted customer service on July 1 and was informed that I would receive a follow up email by close of business and have yet to hear back from Chime Support. ALL COMMUNICATION WITH THE SUPPORT TEAM HAS STOPPED!!! I have not received any more communication with them since June 29, 2020 even after emailing back directly from their email. I need assistance with this immediately as this is a huge financial burden on my family.
Below is a list of agents that I have spoken with over the last two weeks with their agent # if they provided it:
Jave (**) very unhelpful and unprofessional, constantly gave false information.Luis (**) *Supervisor* very rude, unprofessional, belligerent and hung up on me.
Caroline (**) very unprofessional and informed me that there was nothing she could assist with.
Matthew (**) *Supervisor* informed me I would receive a follow up from Support by end of business 7/1, yet never received.
Amy (No ID Provided) extremely rude, refused to give her ID number and ended the call as I was speaking.
Clark (**) was supposed to be assisting my case as per Louis yet I have received no communication from him.

I was told by agent that I used my debit card too many times! I pressed the issue and talked to a supervisor who informed me that chime bank was uncomfortable with the source of my funds. I reminded them that the deposit clearly came from the Social Security Administration and question why? They hung up on me and closed my account without notice or reason.

STAY AWAY. At first Chime is cool. They process payments early, which is a really nice thing that I’m surprised most financial institutions don’t do. That said, the experience changes if your card/account is hacked or stolen. Once I realized my account was being fraudulently used I notified Chime, which in itself is a bit of a painful process, and I was surprised at how things went south from there.
After notifying Chime of the issue they basically treated me like I was the one at fault for the whole fiasco. I was required to fill out a lengthy form that had to be printed and filled out (couldn’t do it online) and then scanned and sent in. Then I received no word from them till I called and waited on hold for 20 or 30 minutes. When I finally got through to someone, he was less than empathetic to the whole situation. He (his name was Andrew) also told me I had to make changes to the form and send it back in. It’s important to note that during this pandemic I’ve lost my job and my girlfriend and I are in quarantine (doctor’s orders) meaning we can’t get to a printer/scanner (ours broke)… But Chime could really care less.
I requested to speak to a supervisor and spoke with Singh (not sure I spelled that right) to explain the situation and try to get a resolution. This was ultimately pointless as Singh didn’t seem to care at all and really seemed annoyed with me. He actually told me, if I don’t want to refill out the form then that’s my problem and I just won’t get my money back. I made my initial claim of fraud on 6/18 and today, 6/30, I have yet to receive my money back. Chime has made zero attempts to contact me regarding my claim, they do not respond to my emails, their chat feature prompts me to call customer support and they have ridiculously long wait times for their customer support line.
I’ve worked in customer service before, and this is not how it is supposed to be done. I’ve also experienced this type of thing where my account was fraudulently used once before with a local credit union (Fairwinds). When I reported my issue to Fairwinds they immediately put the money back in my account and sent me a new card. That was that. I went along with my life and things were fine. That has not been the experience with Chime.
I don’t normally post reviews on companies like this, but this really is a horrible experience and I feel like I need to warn everyone who’s using Chime and/or thinking of using Chime about this type of situation. In case there was any question about it, I plan on closing my account with Chime once this issue is resolved and I have my money returned.

Once you have enough funds in your chime account an employee reaches out to you via text or email, alerting you that that fraudulent activity has taken place and you need to close your account. The employee of chime calls from their business line ph-844-244-6363. Once this is done, the chime employee immediately transfers your funds to their quasi chime accounts. Chime draws you in with three key things that they do well. 1) Receive your checks a couple days early. 2) Manage all of your banking online. 3) A trendy, easy-to-use app with great emoji -riddled notifications. In theory, this seems like it would make for a great banking experience. It doesn't. As of today my wife and I are in the process of switching bank accounts, and Chime has currently taken or lost around $500 of our money. They have demonstrated an unwillingness to help recover any of this money after multiple interactions. This boils down to the three things they do terribly that more than makes up for the three positives they advertise.
1) They do not reimburse fraudulent charges. They will simply claim that it is not fraudulent and leave you with the option to move on or take them to court. 2) Their customer service is horrendous. Absolutely awful. It's almost all automated, and if you can finally figure out how to contact someone, they can never help you. 3) They tie up your money in other places all the time. If you transfer money outside the bank, it will disappear for up to two weeks. If you make a purchase at a gas station, they very well may take $90 out as insurance. You may or may not get this back. I could go on, but you're probably tired of reading. Weigh the three pros with the cons I just gave you. Still worth it? Are you good losing money for no apparent reason? Good. Give Chime a try.

I had a Chime account since October of 2019. I was receiving my unemployment and pandemic assistance to the account on file without issue for months. Due to the crisis I had to move myself and my family back into my parents' home to weather this time. June 19th without more than 24 hours notice I got an email that my account was frozen for suspicious activity because of the large amounts I was getting deposited because of the additional $600.00 a month from unemployment.
They removed my access to the account and asked me to verify my identity, address and intent for use of my $7800 in my account. I sent chime copies of the statements and letters from unemployment reflecting the dates and amounts and how many payouts I would receive weekly including proof of address and who I was. None of this was fraudulent. I had no intentions other than to buy gas, order groceries online and make my car payments each month with the funds. My large balance was due to months of saving and living as frugally as possible to weather this pandemic.
June 23rd I get an email that my account was in violation of their internal policies and the account had been closed and I wasnt due a refund. Nothing more. Internal policies cover account closures in the event someone is using the account for business purposes which I've never done. Grocery and gas purchases are not business purchases. They no longer take calls if your account is closed and I'm now in the process of filing legal recourse after serving them with a letter of intent. I find it ironic they advertise they will help you file for unemployment but so many of us are now losing all of our unemployment we've entrusted to this company in the form of fraudulent claims of suspicious activity followed by account closure and stating they dont have to refund YOUR money. This pandemic has given rise to predatory practices by this bank. This review is only to warn others not to trust this bank.

The checks were returned to the IRS. I get the paper checks almost a month later, I took photos of the checks deposited in my Fidelity account with no so problems. (2) I get an email from Chime telling me that my pin had been changed. If I didn’t do this to enable my card, which I did immediately because I didn’t change my pin. Then a decline charge come through from Walmart. So I’m thinking I was safe, then approximately 20 mins later that same declined transaction went through then another then another then another, all back to back. Over $1600 in a blink of an eye GONE.
I’m chatting with Chime sending screenshots of everything, open a dispute. They Told me that the transactions had to settle first before they could investigate and after they settle to call them back which I did. I was told it would take 10 days to investigate. I called back about 10 days later and was advised my money would be back in my account on 5/27/2020. That day came and went so I called again and was told I would not be receiving my money back. I asked to speak with the investigator. They told me I couldn’t. They would send me documents to support their findings in 10 days. They said that someone called in to my account, asked for my balance and asked for the card to be enabled. They should know I never call in for my balance as I get alerts on my phone with every swipe and why would I call to enable my card when I can log into my account on the phone to do that.
This ordeal started May 12th 2020. I called back and try to put a high security passcode on my account and was told I could not do that either. That was not an option. Here I am trying to protect my hard earned money and can’t even do it. All I know is this banks know your transaction behaviors and any other bank would have shut these transactions down. When I checked my email for more information, I saw an email stating that they had reviewed my Spending Account activity, and said that my account was not in compliance with their policies, or something like that. All I did was get direct deposits and use my debit card to make purchases. I don’t understand what I could have done that was not in compliance, but that is beside the point - my issue was with the fact that I was given absolutely NO WARNING before my accounts were suddenly shut down and I could not access ANY of my money.
In addition to the Spending Account, I also had a savings account as well that I had amassed a sizable chunk of money in. I was also cut off from this account, leaving me completely high and dry without access to any of my hard-earned money, which put me in an extremely desperate situation. Until I got my next paycheck from work almost two weeks later, I had to go to a food bank for groceries - all because Chime shut down my accounts with no prior warning and held my money hostage. I also couldn’t call customer service to speak to an actual person, because when I tried calling from my own phone, I got an automated message saying my phone number was linked to a closed account, and I was subsequently disconnected. I then tried calling from a different phone, but got a different message stating that that phone number wasn’t linked to an active account, and again I was disconnected.
My only option was to email them at the only email address they have - support@chime.com. I finally got a reply 10 days later, after sending countless emails, and was told that I would receive a check for the balances of my accounts within 30 days. As of today, 5/30/2020, nearly a month and a half since my accounts were closed, I have yet to receive a check for my account balances, meaning Chime Bank is still holding my money hostage, basically.
It is bad enough that they can just completely shut down your accounts with no prior warning so that you can pull out your money and make other arrangements, but that they can just hold your money hostage, deny access to those funds, and not even send a check in the time frame they said it would arrive is just despicable. Chime Bank is the worst, most sorry excuse for a “bank” that I’ve ever seen. I wish I had never allowed these crooks access to so much as a penny of my money. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had with a bank.

I needed to open another banking account and my sister recommended me to Chime. Let me tell you it’s been a month and counting and I’m still waiting for my debit card in the mail and I requested 2! The only thing I can do is make online transactions by this temporary card they set up on my account. I don’t want to keep doing that, I need money in my hand now but I can’t do anything cause Chime wants you to have an ‘Activated card’ to even transfer money to another bank, or pay friends.
I tried wallet apps like Cash app, or PayPal to see if I could load money but Chime doesn’t support any third-party apps. They only accept Apple Pay, Android pay, and Samsung. I’m stressed out. I need to take care of my responsibilities of things outside of an online transaction. This bank is just trash, save yourself from it if you can.

When I checked the status in the app it said that my claim had been denied. Then 2 days later they canceled my card without even telling me!! I didn't find out till I went to make a purchase and the transaction was declined. I then called customer service and was told that that is their standard protocol that anytime a dispute is filed against a charge they automatically cancel the card. That is absolutely ridiculous! Especially when I wasn't even informed and it's going to take over a week for a new card to get to me and until then I have absolutely no access whatsoever to the money in my account!!! This is RIDICULOUS!!! I am so done! I am closing this account and going somewhere else.

Chime is probably fine for folks that just want a place for their paycheck to direct deposit. Trying to connect to external bank account - easily done with every other financial institution I've used previously - is an exercise in frustration. The initial link involves each side verifying - Chime says they see Chase just fine - Chase however while they can send the little micro deposit cannot withdraw it back to complete the verification. Chime says "it should work". Chase says "here are the dates/times/amount of the requests and the denial response" - given I've linked a few external accounts to Chase with no issue and the fact that Chase provides actual details beyond "it should be fine - the other side must be wrong". It's pretty apparent which side the issue is on.
Basically customer support is a joke - and while it's something I rarely need with other financial accounts when you need it - you need it and there is no other option. Beyond basic direct deposit/use your card at a retailer use cases support is completely out of their depth. So really evaluate why you are considering Chime - things are usually simple like linking to another account to easily transfer money back and forth aren't - if you don't need that kind of functionality and are willing to live a bare minimum of customer support you should be fine - if you need more look elsewhere.

I’ve been out of work and have no food in my house. They do not care. There’s no compassion at all. I'm shocked at how many people are actually placing blame on a bank for things the members did wrong!! I've been a Chime member for over a year and I was really worried about some of these reviews. Come to find out, members are doing things that are against Chime's policies and then want to blame the bank. Or they're dumb enough to fall for some scam artist calling and asking for their personal account information. Who would have their family and friend's stimulus check deposited into an account when the policy clearly states, "The recipient's name on any direct deposit MUST match the name of the account holder or the deposit will be returned." The member service agreement also says that we absolutely cannot use a third party to load money onto our cards or they will close our account.
Does anyone read the fine print anymore? Why would anyone give someone their personal security information to a complete stranger without verifying the legitimacy of the call? Chime will never call you and ask you for your card information....they already have it!! They will never allow you to load money to your card using a third party check cashing or loading service, and they will not let you put your spouse's stimulus payment into your account without verifying that it's legitimate because they do not offer joint accounts. Every single bank is under strict federal regulations to ensure prevention of money laundering. The only problem I've ever had with Chime was a deposit that didn't come two days early, like usual, but that's not a guarantee. The only other times I have had issues was with a merchant who placed a hold on my card, but that was the merchant's fault, not the bank.
I love banking without fees, getting my deposit up to two days early, and being able to categorize my spending. The Spot Me feature is also another perk that is great. It's nice to have a cushion when you're running low. If you're considering opening a Chime account, then you should absolutely do it. My only recommendation is that you READ the member services agreement and never give anyone your personal information.

My husband sent me money in the Chime app. I tried to use it to transfer to my bank to pay bills. It said I can't access until I get my card. So I tried to send back to my husband. Says I can't do that either since my account is not active? So then why did it allow money to be sent to me? So we called customer service, they told us we can do a manual transfer by emailing support so we did. This was the start of a 3-day long correspondence via email and hours on the phone being transferred around. They keep telling us we are missing one or more pieces of information, and we keep sending what they ask, but they keep giving excuses of why they cannot just let me send the money back to my husband.
This was the worst experience I've ever had. The customer service reps all said different things, which we wasted time doing and then come to find out no one there can actually do anything to help. Also, they email replies were all automated, not a real person responding. Reps didn't speak English very well. They still have my money which I can not access.

Whatever you hear on China bank is absolute BS! Yes you do get your deposit 2 days early at least mine actually came in 3 days early. But I've had to make multiple request for a debit card that I still haven't received. I can't access my money for a week if I try to Transfer it from my bank account to PayPal or any other platform similar. They said the quickest way for me to get my money was to do a paper transfer from one Chime account to someone else's chime account. I don't know anybody with a chime account other than myself. They have a vote of 0 confidence from me at this point in time. I truly wonder if the other reviews giving 5 stars are accurately verified. I see more negative reviews than positive and nothing about my interaction with chime would cause me to give them more than one star. If I could give less than 1 star I would. Find you another bank because this 1 is not worth the time you will waste trying to access what belongs to you.

I had been using a traditional brick and mortar bank for a long time. I am on disability, so I get a monthly check from Social Security. With the traditional bank I was being charged an arm and a leg. I had been using auto pay to pay some bills, but with auto pay companies aren't very consistent at pushing those debits through on exact days. I get paid on the first, but auto pay changes according to days in the month. Some months are 30 days, some 31. You get the picture. I had overdraft protection on my traditional checking account. When these auto payments would go through it'd cost me $35 each time they'd bounce. It really wasn't my fault. I had told those companies I get paid on a specific day, so debits that came before that day would be rejected.
Many companies incentivize auto pay with reductions in plan costs. However, the $35 fee at my bank pretty much ate up any savings and made me short for the rest of the month. It was a huge hassle. Being on a fixed income I had to make a choice and that's when I heard about Chime. Sign up was simple. Direct deposit was straightforward. I received my card in about a week. Social Security pays on the first of the month at traditional banks. Unless the first falls on a weekend then it's the Friday prior to the first. Chime does NOT hold my deposit. Sometimes I get paid up to a week to 10 days early, despite the 2 days they claim.
In the 8 or so months I've been using Chime every single one of my direct deposits have been received at least 3 days early. Every single one. It has never been held. I recently had a billing issue with Sprint. I had helped a friend and paid his Spring bill. Well Sprint being who they are saved my card info without consent and my friend became delinquent on his Sprint bill, so they tried to go back and charge me for his account. I have never had a contract with Sprint and never will. They took $300 from me a few months ago and again attempted to take over $642 from me this month.
I have significant health issues, so I missed the $300 charge, but when I saw the declined charge for $642 it made me go back and check my account and that's when I became aware of the issue and immediately reached out to Chime. They gave me a day or so before cancelling my card to give me time to make any necessary purchases until my new card arrived and in less than 24 hours they had refunded the $300 that Sprint had taken from me.
I was honestly shocked at how quick it all happened. I honestly thought I'd just have to take the loss, but Chime went above and beyond to make it right. Now, they offer the overdraft fee free and it really comes in handy for someone like me. It's only $45, but it's no charge and with my old bank sometimes I'd end up with $2-300 in just overdrafts a month. I've learned to never use autopay in my situation and my financial situation has improved and I really credit that to Chime. They may still be working out the kinks and it's not perfect in every way, but I am a super happy Chime customer.
I've even been able to start saving a little. Social Security doesn't pay a whole lot, so being able to save is a big deal for me. They keep making changes and improvements and they are always revising their platform to benefit their users. I know some people may not have had the best experience, but for me I haven't had the first problem and I foresee a very long financial relationship with them. I've even talked a few people into giving them a go. Everyone seems happy with their decision. If you're on the fence I say go for it. You really dont have a whole lot to lose. Just remember you need to read the service contracts and agreements for everything you use, especially your bank. I'm completely satisfied with Chime. They've really given me the tools to get my finances in order. Plus, it is so easy to use and navigate.

I have been a loyal account member with Chime Banking since August of 2017. February 7, 2020 is the day I would never forget. I don't have a vehicle and I'm a single mother of four. My youngest son 6 who has autism has a meeting after school. I caught a Uber there and when it was time for my son and I to order an uber back my chime card declined it. I had the app and was surprised it asked me for my information because out of 3 years I've never signed out of my app. When I then proceeded to put my account information in and chime have me a message that they closed my account.
My son and I walked an hour in the cold home. I can not believe the bank I've dedicated 3 years to never contacted me not even once (email, nor called) to tell me they closed my account. I called and they have my number blocked from access to speak with a representative. I used my cousin's number and they told me I should read the policy and I should know why it is blocked.
I then asked for an manager. He told me something that absolutely blew my mind and said my account has a 3rd party that I do not have. I have an honest job that I work hard at everyday Walmart. They said that went against policy and closed my account without notifying me. I can not believe Chime accuse a loyal member of 3 years as such. I do not have nothing to my name and will lose my job because I can't afford an uber to get to work. I can not wait for a paper check that they say will be sent within 30 days and the least that CHIME could do is temporarily allow me into my account so I can have my money before I lose my job.

They advised using Venmo, etc. I tried this, only to find that to actually transfer any money you need your Chime Debit Card #. Which I still don't have! I mean, HELLO?! I have had Chime for about 2 weeks now. I have had to contact support about 4 times already, the support staff they have is outsourced, so they do not u understand the questions very well. Direct deposit does come in about 2 days early with this bank, the only downside is is that they seem to only be familiar with the direct deposit aspects. I asked them "why does it take 2 weeks for a mobile check deposit?" Got a response regarding direct deposit. I asked them why my mortgage company couldn't find their routing number, they asked me about my employer and some other questions regarding direct deposit. Had to correct them again that this was not a direct deposit issue.
I tried using the "chat" feature in the app, but these are just bots that can't really comprehend a detailed question, only preprogrammed answers. I also called to find out about unlocking the mobile deposit feature as you need direct deposit to use this. The woman stated this feature is not available until 30 days after your first direct deposit. It is now available to me a week after my first direct deposit. In short, the support staff is not helpful or well informed. The card works and so does direct deposit. If you want to deposit via mobile check it takes a while. No fees so far.

And I hoped it could be sorted out manually like many other online banks do (requesting ID pics, selfies etc) but I was told “we can’t open your account and won’t provide any further Information" which is outrageous and illegal - all banks are required to disclose the reason of rejection by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. And of course, since it’s a violation of the law, I reported this bank to the Federal Reserve System which I encourage to do all other people who experienced this.

Chime is great for a couple of reasons.
1) Chime offers direct deposit, and in some cases allows access to your funds up to 2 days in advance.
2) Chime has an automatic savings account. Once activated a portions of funds are set aside for emergencies. Great way to help save money.
3) No fees... If you don’t have the funds you can’t over spend. No insufficient fund fees. Banks & Credit Unions abuse Over Draft Protection, charging up to $34 per incident, even if you opted-out, charging you a fee at their discretion... The loophole is that they pay all overdrafts raping (You) their member for profit. An unexpected charge often ends up in an excessive negative balance, of which (You) member are held accountable to bring account balance positive soon, or risk account being closed.
