How does Huntington Bank work?

You can open an account with Huntington Bank online or at a branch location. The process is as simple as choosing which account you want to open, entering your personal information and funding the account.

One unique feature of Huntington Bank is its 24-hour grace period for overdrafts; if you overdraw your account by more than $50, you'll have until the end of the next business day to make a deposit to cover the overdraft and avoid fees. There’s no overdraft fee for accounts overdrawn by $50 or less.

Another unique feature is its "Asterisk-Free Checking" account, which has no monthly maintenance fee and no minimum balance requirement.

Huntington Bank is insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), which means that deposits up to $250,000 per depositor are insured. This insurance provides protection to depositors in the event that the bank fails or is unable to return deposits.

Not happy with this bank. They closed my account for no reason and now I can't login. I tried to change my password as suggested and that doesn't work. We don't have many choices of banks in our area. The only reason I'm with them is because they bought out my bank. From what I've been reading I'm not alone. This seem to happen a lot. I wouldn't give them any stars except I had to to submit this review.

We had a positive experience with Cadence Bank in Montgomery, AL, and were hopeful for its transition to Huntington Bank. While the staff remained familiar, we noticed an unexpected shift in service quality. During our visit at 10 a.m., the bank was quiet, and the cashiers were busy with cash handling and cleaning. Although we were present, the team only offered a distant "We'll be right with you." After a ten-minute wait, one staff member kindly asked if we needed help.

We needed a notarization. The form was written in English, German, and French. Initially, an office employee hesitated because the document would not be in English, but after discussing it, she did notarize it. When we inquired about obtaining a copy for our records, we learned that Huntington Bank has a policy against providing copies, despite the proximity of copiers. Feeling undervalued was disappointing, especially since friends and family shared similar sentiments. They encouraged us to explore new banks that genuinely appreciate customer loyalty. We remain optimistic about finding a banking partner that values us and our needs.

Have you ever watched the movie Pretty Woman? I felt like Julia Roberts when I left Huntington bank. They obviously thought they were better than me. Said they didn’t have the time to help me that day. I needed to make an appointment. The promotional email said to stop in a Huntington bank. Never mentioned making an appointment. Wesbanco next door got my business. Huntington needs to do better. Mean people suck.

Worst bank ever, cannot ever get help. No one can answer any questions. Highly understaffed. Very difficult to manuver through the website and online banking from personal to business or commercial. Not user friendly. If they buy out your bank LEAVE fast!!!!! I will take all 9 of my accounts and RUN as soon as I can get access to my money.

I have banked with Huntington for over 35 years and recently it is terrible. They changed my mortgage payment without any prior notification. I have been on hold 3 times for 3 different departments because no one was able to handle this. This is not the bank I have worked with in the past. I am working diligently to pay off this loan and be done with the mortgage part of this bank. I do most of my checking and savings online but will be moving my savings soon too.

I was told I'd have a 35 to 45 minute wait. 🤣 It's been over an hour. What a joke. I'm switching banks because of this. I've been a loyal customer for 15 years. This bank is not what it used to be. Thanks for the good times. I'm taking my money elsewhere.

Huntington is horrible. They don’t stand behind their customers… When you follow the banker's directions to the letter and the customer still gets the short end of the stick for over 600.00.. The banker opened the account and took the deposit knowing that we weren’t eligible for the promotion.. Ok I understand that but, the banker should have said something then not 2 weeks later.. So then we follow their guidance and still lost another week's worth of interest… Customer service is no better. I have spent hours on the phone following their guidance and again I hear she shouldn’t have told you that.. Is that all Huntington is in business for is to take from their depositors??? I have filed disputes and they have all been escalated with the same script reading, "I'm sorry. I understand your frustration," and that’s after waiting over an hour at each call.

I had a check deposited (mobile deposit) and it was not fraud. They held my check saying they did not have the money to take the hold off. How is a bank that broke? The check was less than $4k…This has impeded my ability to go to work because I can’t get my car with MY money. I could’ve gone to Walmart and had a better time.

After nearly 10 years (or has it been more?) of being a customer, I closed my account. Despite a cut and dry case, my disputes have been dragged on for "needing more information". $400 down the drain.
