I'm not a customer of Huntington and after this experience I can tell you that I never will be. I bank with Fifth Third which is an excellent Bank. I normally, during the course of my business day, take checks from customers and cash them as opposed to depositing them directly into my account. It used to be relatively simple and I am fine with the ten dollar charge that is levied for not being an account holder of Huntington. I also understand the need for caution by financial institutions that are accepting checks however I have never experienced anything like this.
I went into the branch in Niles Michigan to cash a $220 check from my girlfriend's mother for materials for a job I'm doing for her. When I got to the teller she asked for two forms of ID which I had but it needed to either be one of my credit cards or social security card which I don't carry when I'm working. I said that's fine I'll come back tomorrow. I came back the next day, got the same teller and she asked if it was the same check. I said yes, then I gave her my DL and a credit card and my social security card and she said. "Oh... I'm sorry there's not enough funds to cover the check."
I was 100% certain that that was not the case and checking with my girlfriend's mother she verified there's way more than enough money in there. Not quite sure what I'm going to do about it I guess this is a start. Don't use this Bank. Think you have issues as an account holding customer? Try being a normal customer off the street! You would be better off keeping your money in a mattress.

I went to buy a vehicle last night, unable to purchase my car, because they decided to lock my account for no reason. I called when they open up, and was told to CB at 830 when I'm supposed to be at work. I will be closing my account and moving to another bank.

I opened new accounts with Huntington and they put my first deposit on a ten day hold! I showed the branch a copy of the deposit clearing the other bank and they still would not release the funds. I do not know who can go ten days without access to their funds when they switch banks - but not me! This was NOT disclosed upon deposit. I found this unacceptable. As soon as they release my funds next week, I am removing everything and closing the accounts. Not a great way to start a new relationship - showing your customers you have gridlock policies that do not benefit them. A ten day funds hold in 2021 is unnecessary. These days, items clear the issuing bank by the next business day. These are electronic processes. I will be going back to PNC - even if the drive to the branches is a little further.

I decided to bank with Huntington for my first sole checking account. I had been with them for about 9 months before things went downhill. Long story short, a month ago I was scammed out of $1000 and Huntington won’t do anything about it. I was sent a cashier’s check for a product, took it to a teller, and Huntington made it available to me the next day. The person no longer wanted the product so I sent them a refund and poof, not even a day later, Huntington took the check right back out of my account and I was in negative.
Looking back, it was clearly a scam, however, I thought Huntington would take some responsibility and give me back my funds because they didn’t initially catch that the check was fake nor did they place a hold on it. I also didn’t have the funds to cover the check in my account either but they still deposited it anyways. Of course, since they did this I thought the money was good and I would have never sent the person a refund if Huntington hadn’t made the funds available to me. I filed a dispute and a police report but nothing came out of either.
A Huntington dispute supervisor gave me some advice that their checks are not considered “clear” for about 10 business days and even if they deposit your check immediately and do not place a hold on it, it is still the customer’s fault if funds are lost. He also told me that fake checks are becoming more common and slipping through the cracks. Of course this advice was pretty useless since they told me this after I was scammed. I say all this to say that Huntington is a bank that has little to no protection for their customers in scam situations. They seem to have an unreliable initial system for flagging fake checks yet they still rarely place holds on them. I have also heard that due to this, Huntington is one of the easier banks to get fraudulent checks through which is why scammers like to use them. If you’re scammed Huntington will pretty much laugh in your face. I don’t recommend them.

My daughter was issued a PCL, personal credit line which is an equity loan. Maximum set of $50,000. It was to "consolidate" her other loans. So her house, which her family paid off, is collateral. The PCL had only a minimum payment required of the interest charges which now amount to $75.00 per month. This is a predatory practice and eventually they would have seized her home. She was up to $24,000 in debt when I found the monthly statement. She was using the PCL to buy extravagant items unnecessary for health or life because they issued a card that looks like an ordinary credit card. She is not earning interest on her savings or checking accounts. I am in process now of getting her away from this bank. Do not do business with predatory institutions who sole purpose is to make money off you and seize your assets.

Huntington Bank carries the loan we have for an RV. Our loan originally started out at over $100,000 and is currently under 26,000. Before the pandemic hit, we were never late with a payment, of any kind and both have credit scores over 800. After losing our income, it became difficult to make this payment especially on time. I recently called huntington AGAiN and begged them to work with me on this account, especially since we have been such good customers, paid this account down so far and it is difficult for people right now! We are both over 65, with very limited income.
I received a letter back stating that they were unable to assist us in any way. I was completely shocked by this lack of effort to work with me on the loan to any degree. Here’s the worst part- every single day I get an email, a letter in the mail and a phone call. Mind you, I am only 1/2 to one payment late. Sometimes I just cry over this lack of compassion and downright harassment over this payment. It is ridiculous and uncalled for in these times. You would think they could at least stop their harassment, stop with the constant late charges- anything- to show that their bank has an ounce of compassion. Nope- not this bank. Shame on you Huntington.

I have been dealing with Huntington since 2017, and it’s been a nightmare. I refinanced with a HELOC in 2017. The totally unprofessional appraiser showed up 2 hours late and devalued my home by $15k (it had just been appraised the previous month by a PROFESSIONAL appraiser). Then they sent the payoff to the wrong address even though I had provided them with the correct info. I am locked into my current rate for 10 years before becoming a variable rate, but I decided that since rates are at record lows now and since I had just received a new higher appraisal and it might be good to get some cash out for home upgrades I decided to refi into a traditional mortgage in August 2020.
Once again, they sent extremely unprofessional appraisers (2) who were 1 1/2 hours late with no apology or explanation and submitted completely unfactual/incomplete info in their report, along with grainy black and white photos, using unrelatable comps from other neighborhoods which devalued my house by $20k. They had been discussing which bank this appraisal was for, no doubt skewing the results to accommodate Huntington’s wishes. I filed an appeal, along with 5 comps that sold in the last 6 months provided by my realtor verifying the true value of my home, yet they stuck to their guns.
After several weeks of frustration and being out $450 for a fraudulent appraisal, I rejected their lame offer to refi with no cash back, increasing my payments by $200 per month and asking to escrow my insurance and taxes. No way would I accept this insane off or ever trust them with an escrow account! Not to mention they charge a yearly fee... REALLY??!? I used to bank with large banks doing business solely online but I thought it would be better to deal with a local bank, but I was wrong. They are scammers through and through and not to be trusted.

I've been a long term customer of Huntington Bank. I went to the bank after receiving notification of available funds for withdrawal. After going to a few other banks which I was able to withdraw funds with no issues. I went to the bank in St Clair Shores located at little mack and 11 mile. After the transaction was processed the teller asked me if I were going to another bank and I said yes. She then reversed transaction and returned the funds to my account. I asked her why she did this and she said Huntington has a policy that allows customers to draw a certain amount per day. I told her this wasn't true and that I was aware that you could only draw a certain amount from each branch but she said that wasn't true.
She called her manager Sara, who said the same thing and told me we were done here. Sent my ID and Card back, but kept the withdrawal slip. When asked why again she said we are done here and I was on the phone with huntington call center while this was going on. Sara then went and called the fraud department and reported suspicious activity on my account and locked me out of it without me being aware. I went to do a deposit with my card at an atm machine and it was embarrassing because after 2 attempts it was rejected. My account was then altered to show that the deposit was never in my account and that I had a negative balance. After talking with customer service, a discrimination complaint was filed. I also sent a detailed email with attachments to the CEO and received a call back.
This morning I received a couple of calls apologizing for the inconvenience of being locked out of my account for 5 days and Sue told me the manager said she filed the fraud complaint because I had gone to different banks and my ID could have been altered because people alter IDs all the time. This has been hurtful and a real inconvenience, especially during this pandemic. There was no consideration for me and my circumstances at all. My history shows that I've always been able to do the same type of transactions. They then told me they sent the money back to the sender and asked me to reach out to them and ask them to send it back to them.
I don't trust this bank nor will I continue to do business with an establishment who uphold the negative actions of their employees. Huntington needs to understand that ** people have money too. Banking while ** is truly a concern that needs to be investigated. Huntington is in the process of merging with TCF and planning to service the city of Detroit. People need to be aware of this and protect themselves and their resources from this type of discriminatory treatment.

Earlier this year, we booked a family vacation to Las Vegas, of course, due to the pandemic, we were not sure if we were going to make it. We noticed that Southwest had canceled and rebooked our flight without our consent, so we sought a refund. Southwest gave us a major runaround, until they realized their mistake. Upon speaking with Huntington, they provided a provisional credit for the amount of $2,00 dollars. What we had to do was provide Huntington with information of what happened, and they could make a decision to see if we deserved the actual refund.
This is where things get dumb; My wife, and I, sent them the information form the Department of Transportation, which clearly indicates "A full refund is required for any canceled flights". We sent them paperwork, more paperwork, and even more paperwork. Each time they would say they never received it. Even after one person said they had it and was sending it for review. This happened THREE times. Ultimately, Huntington stated that they were going to side with the airline, and if we did not return the provisional credit, they would close our account.
It can take 90 days to receive a refund, and after they said we had until August 3rd, they closed our account on the 1st. Southwest issued the refund, however since the account was closed, the payment bounced back. Now, this check, even with a tracking number is being said to be at the airline, they airline says the bank has it. My wife just talked to Huntington today, more runaround. This is what Huntington does, very dirty, closing accounts prior to the agreed date, and completely incompetent. As well as "never receiving" our paperwork. Once, I could see, twice? Maybe, but three times? No, this was just a way for Huntington to try to get more money from people. I will never, ever return to Huntington, and I will inform others of their incompetent actions.

Fell behind due to COVID. I didn’t fall behind by much, it was 2 separate months a few months apart due to business being shut down multiple times because employees got COVID. I paid off my balance within a month of each late payment. They reported it to the credit bureau and my score dropped by 120 points. Mind you, I am and HAVE BEEN current for some time now. They offered NO HELP during COVID, and on top of them offering no help, now they punish those of us affected by it at no fault of our own. I called to dispute this and they said there was nothing they could do since the time had passed since my late payments...
This bank does not care about its customers at all. I will be refinancing to take my business to ANY OTHER bank besides this one. Do NOT do business with them, if you are ever in a hard time, you will be screwed! Other banks helped their customers affected by COVID, this one caused more harm on top of me losing money for months at a time because of the virus. Shame on them!!!!

LOOK FOR A BETTER BANK. PERIOD. MAYBE ONE WITH A JD POWER AWARD FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. That's my honest advice. Huntington is a complete debacle when it comes to dealing with fraud. I have a reoccurring monthly debit in my checking (for Health Insurance) that is charged on the 1st of the month. It totals $115./mo. I was wrongly OVERCHARGED $1600.00 (Yes that's correct--16 HUNDRED DOLLARS) by the Health Insurance Company, with numerous & strange debits all on the same day.
Huntington did NOT catch the MULTIPLE erroneous & fraudulent charges that posted over & over again in my account all at the same time. I did. I alerted Huntington when I discovered it myself, AFTER both my checking & savings had already been completely DRAINED. At the same time, I have monthly bills scheduled to be debited from those accounts and Huntington continues to charge overdraft fees to my account on top of all that...so I'm in the negative by a few hundred dollars at this point.
Huntington has been unwillingly to do much about returning my stolen money. FIVE days after alerting Huntington of the fraud--still NO MONEY returned. THREE customer service reps I have personally spoken to now- all say "wow, I'm so sorry this is happening to you, but I can't do anything except file a dispute on the charges." The "dispute" takes 10 business days to resolve. 10 business days--no money for me. MY MONEY IS GONE OVERNIGHT, AND IT 'MAY' BE RESOLVED IN 10 BUSINESS DAYS. No gas for work, no groceries for my kids, no payment for other bills I owe----NO MONEY (actually negative now) for 10 BUSINESS DAYS.
In the meantime I was told by Huntington, if I bring my account back up to a positive balance: then Huntington will reverse the couple hundred bucks they charged me in overdraft fees for the fraudulent activity. MY MONEY WAS STOLEN & HUNTINGTON WANTS ME TO PAY THEM TO STOP CONTINUING TO CHARGE OVERDRAFT FEES TO MY ACCOUNT!!! Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!! There's no "freeze" on the account to stop the continuing overdrafts??? Huntington has zero understanding of the situation (after 3 calls & disputes) to stop overdraft fees to my account??!! It's beyond absurd. In the meantime, I opted to turn off the debit card associated with the fraudulent direct bill pay debit and have to wait a week to get a new one mailed.
Although Huntington has said they are opening an "investigation" into the FRAUD; I have YET to be contacted BY ANYONE to actually resolve the issue. One rep told me that Huntington will not contact me at all, but instead send a letter sometime AFTER the 10 business days to 'INFORM" me what action they will take to correct (if any) and what their "VERDICT" of the outcome will be!!! MY MONEY IS GONE, & HUNTINGTON is going to "DECIDE" what to do about it?!!! What exactly is there to "decide"??! PUT IT BACK. IMMEDIATELY.
Of the 3 reps I've spoken with, NONE have the power or ability to move this along in a timely manner to a resolution. SAD. I was going to close the account today & open another with someone else who has better service & rates (maybe Capital One) in the future when I GET A PAYCHECK, since I'm broke... BUT>> HUNTINGTON says I can't even close the account until I PAY THEM to bring it back to positive!!!! HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!

We were linked up with them for an auto loan. We were delinquent on our first payment, causing my credit to decrease by 60pts. The delinquency was because they had the wrong address on file and we were never received any notification or payment request. They did send three emails but they all ended Up in my spam folder. We were wondering why we hadn’t received our first payment stub, so we contacted them, made all payments, including the next month and enrolled in autopay.
We are in the process of Buying a house, which now Likely won’t happens because of an honest mistake. They refuse to file a letter to the credit bureau, and they advised us to file a dispute with all the credit bureaus. We have explained that we are in the process of getting a home loan. If we would have followed their advice our lender informed us that we would be unable to continue through the home loan process. Not only is this bank unwilling to help us navigate this honest mistake, but they purposefully have given us advice that would be detrimental to my family's future. I acquired a car loan from Huntington Bank in 2018. I never missed one payment with them. This past Feb I decided to pay off the loan amount. I called Huntington and got the pay off amount. I sent the amount in. I noticed I had not received my title. I didn't think much about it because of Covid. I decided to refinance my home in May. The lender called and said I was not approved because I owed money to the bank on a car loan. Mind you I never received anything in writing from Huntington stating I missed a payment. I call them and true enough I still owed a balance. I ask why I had not received a notice via mail, email, or phone. They gave me the information they had on file. To my surprise the information they had on file was my old address and phone number.
When asked why they were using my previous address, they stated, because they stated the system must have updated the with the wrong address. I paid the loan in full but it was too late my credit is damaged. I ask them to review my case, because I never missed a payment in the two years of having the loan. They refused to review my case and stated they would not give me deleted trade line. Now my credit is screwed and I'm stuck. This bank lender is horrible. Do not acquire a loan with them. Hello. My name is Craig, I’m from Detroit Michigan. My wife recently reached out to Huntington Bank to apply for a $300,000 construction loan for a property we're planning on purchasing and remodeling. My wife filled out an application and received an email from a loan agent by the name of Kimberly **. Her email was sort of a, "Thank you for applying, I’m your loan officer, here’s my information" kind of email.
So after waiting a week and not hearing anything, about our application, from our loan officer, my wife decided to call her. No answer. But luckily on her voicemail she left her cell number just In case she couldn’t be reached on her office phone. My wife decides to call her cell. No answer. After about 2 weeks of calling both lines and getting no answer. I become a little irritated and decide to get Kimberly **’ information from my wife and make the calls myself. I called her office line. No answer. Immediately after, I called her cell and she answered. I was shocked and really was at a loss for words but I pulled myself together and told her why I was calling. She seemed to be hearing me but like she was preoccupied. Though she was responding to me accurately and swiftly.
After telling her we needed a construction loan she informed me that all banks are no longer doing construction loans in the city of Detroit as of either October 1, 2020 or November 1, 2020. She couldn’t remember which. So she told me that she would reach out to someone to at the correct dates. She did this while I was on the phone with her. Which was ok because it gave me a chance to ask a few questions, because I know nothing about mortgages or loans. So after about 10 mins. She tells me that whoever she was trying to contact hadn’t gotten back with her. She asks me to just send over all of our tax and work information and she’ll run it all and get back to us.
It’s been a week now, today’s date is October 3, 2020 and we haven’t heard anything from her. Meanwhile we’ve gone through another command have been approved for our $300,000 construction loan. From the beginning this was a terrible experience. Kimberly ** of Huntington bank had us go through all the legwork just to not even run our information. Huntington bank just missed out on probably about $30,000 because of a bad employee. But in the end we’re the lucky ones. I’m so glad that she dropped the ball because doing business with Huntington bank would’ve been just like doing business with Kimberly **. A headache.

I joined the bank because of a friend that used to work there. He always took very good care of me and my accounts. After they closed the branch and I was on my own things just went down hill. Every time you try to do business with the bank, things go wrong and nickel and dime you for no reason. The last one was I overpaid my credit card by almost $300 and when I transfer back the money to my checking account they charge me Cash advance fee to the amount I overpaid them. I called the bank and they asked to transfer the money back to the credit card and call the bank back so they can refund me the fee. That would be the only way they could create a case on my behalf. Result of this mess, I just closed one more of my accounts with the bank and look forward to close the two remaining accounts out of 6. Don't bank with this bank. They are horrible.

I have had so many terrible experiences with Huntington Bank. Just unbelievable that they are in business at all. I opened an account there specifically to handle all expenses for my new home construction from one source.
1) I wanted to make a large deposit to an investment account. The branch manager discussed the options and gave me the Huntington brochure regarding the investment account. I called the number to ask questions and the representative had never heard of the account listed.
2) I went to the branch to withdraw cash to pay a contractor. The branch said they did not have cash on hand and would have to request it. It would take a week to receive. I went to my regular bank (Comerica) and withdrew it on the spot.
3) I wrote a check to my husband for pocket cash. He went to a Huntington Bank branch to cash it and they charged a $35 service fee to cash their own check as his name was not on the check. He was not on the account so I could control all the finances for our build and eliminate any confusion as to who issued payments.
4) I transferred a large sum of cash for building expenses. The cash was credited at 8am, the check was returned for NSF at 4.30 that same day. I ended up paying $236 in additional fees.
5) I issued a payment to a contractor. Huntington Fraud prevention called and asked me to confirm and it went to their VM. The returned the call, left a message saying they received my confirmation message. Then they went ahead and cancelled the check.
6) Logging in to verify the payment, I received an electronic notice regarding cancellation and instructions to call the customer service number listed. I called the number and was instructed to "Press 1 for English" (what does that tell you?) Then had to listen to a promotion for people over 60. Then had to listen to a promotion for free roadside assistance. Then had to listen to a promotion for medicare eligibles. I chose to exit the promotion by pressing # as instructed, whereupon I was disconnected. This happened 4 times in a row.
7) I then called the Fraud Prevention hotline number. They had no knowledge of the Customer Service number on the website, my VM regarding the payment, or their own return call.
I am in the process of closing the account, which I only retained as a record of payments made until the build is completed. My advice is DO NOT USE THIS BANK FOR ANY REASON!

During the Covid-19 pandemic lock-down our businesses were adversely affected so we reached out to Huntington Mortgage to defer our mortgage payments until we could get back on our feet. We also asked for help lowering the monthly payments through a refinance. Well, after filling out reams of paperwork for Huntington this was the help they offered: they offered to turn a 10 year mortgage into a 40 year mortgage in return for a $198 a month payment reduction. Yes, you read that right. Does that sound like "help" to you?? To go into debt for an extra 30 years, and pay hundreds of thousands more in interest.
When we asked them if they would take the help they were offering they said, "no". This is Huntington's idea of help... To make matters worse, Huntington reported our payments late during the deferral period even though they weren't supposed to. I would stay as far away from this bank as I could because this isn't our only bad experience with them. If you want satisfactory customer service and integrity, look for another bank.

I am 73 years old and have had bank accounts at probably 25 different banks in 10 states. Never have I had one like this one! They are in it to ding you for every little fee they can even if the mistake was theirs. I was with First Merit bank in Ohio for almost 20 years and never had a problem. Huntington bought them out and it's been a nightmare since. Huntington keeps telling me their policies are different than First Merits but they have never explained what those policies are or where I can find them to read myself. I thought maybe the laws had changed but went to another bank opened an account and it works the same way all the others have.
HAVE 2 accounts - a checking in my name and a savings in my son's name. My son is paralyzed from the neck down and is blind along with other less horrible disabilities. Huntington told me he would have to come into the bank every time he wanted to withdraw money. Any one have an idea of how hard it is for a 73 year old woman to load a 6 ft four 265 pound man unto a van to go to the bank? They told me his account didn't qualify for a debit card so it was actually going into the bank and loading and unloading every time even for $10. Finally I paid an attorney $150 to draw up a POA. Although the federal Government had decided years ago that he wasn't capable of managing his own money so appointed me Rep. payee.
Then I finally got them to transfer his money to my account once a month so that we could pay our bills. That worked well until one time the transfer didn't happen. We tried to get some direction from customer service about how to fix this. They all involved us going into a branch. I explained that we had since moved out of OHIO and they knew that because I had changed our address with them. This time I had to drive to Charleston, WVA for a bank manager to help me. That was 300 miles each way way. Then things were running smoothly until my son received his stimulus check in May.
I call the branch manager in WVA and she told me I had to scan a form, sign it and scan it back to me That was on June 8th. Didn't hear from her so called back only to be told that since I didn't get the form back by June 8th, they couldn't do anything until July 8th! Meantime my account is overdrafted because of all the automatic payments. I didn't stop them because on Jun 8th she told me the transfer would be that night. Anyway, they made the transfer on July 8th and did remit some of my overdraft fees. Not all although all of them were their fault. I was able to do a manual transfer for his August check.
Now September, his account is suspended because they can't verify his account #. The same place they sent it to last month. First CSR told me the suspension was due to needing a signature card since the other one was outdated. Asked what that time limit was and no one could tell me. Called back the next day. Was was told the account was suspended for a fraud alert. Again no warning or notification! Online banking rep had me fax my son's bank statement to him and that he could lift the suspension. That was Friday and statement was sent immediately after I got off the phone.
On the phone today since 845 and now they say they didn't receive the fax. It's not like we have tons of money. I am on social security and my son is on disability. Barely enough to pay our bills and buy food. Do not ever do business with this shady operation! If I ever get our money out of there this time, it will be direct deposited to our new account at a bank that appreciates their customers.

Our first mortgage officer in 2018 was wonderful. The couple purchasing our condo were using Huntington as well, it was nothing but a hassle for them to close. We decided to take advantage of the falling interest rates in spring of 2020. Our original loan officer left the bank so we ended up working with someone else. I understand it was difficult times with Covid happening but it was plain painful. Very little communication and constant nagging to get fees removed for an appraisal that wasn’t needed.

While I have had Huntington accounts for many years now, and experienced mostly good customer service, the mortgage refinance was so stressful. I wish that I had gone through a different lender with a more communicative and experienced staff. I ended up having more money tied up in escrow than is needed, and their explanations for keeping it don't make sense. And, they didn't tell me that they'd be deducting more closing costs from my checking account after closing. I don't trust them.

I could have never dreamt any banking experience could ever be this bad. I paid off an auto loan and decided to sell my vehicle. Huntington has refused to assist me in getting a simple piece of paper stating that the loan is paid off. I have stopped in numerous locations, most of which I can't get into the lobby to no avail and the sad part is that it doesn't feel like anyone cares. Well over 6 hours of time lost over the phone, including two 40 min calls where I was disconnected. I paid you the money I borrowed and want a simple piece of paper. This loan has been paid off for a month now. Please beware of the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

When a bank has NUMEROUS bad reviews, believe it. The "good" reviews claiming all the negatives are wrong or at fault are obviously affiliated with the bank. You can tell because they are in defense mode. A customer would NOT write a review trying to downplay other customers' experiences. Red flag!!! That said, my experience has been unpleasant as well. Hate this bank. The worst customer service I have ever come into contact with. I have a car loan through this bank, since summer of 2019. Never had a problem with customer service with any other car loans through banks, except this one.
Went to phone in my car payment, as usual, and got my account info input then the system stated there was an system error and not to try again because it could cause double payment. Said it was transferring me to a rep to confirm the payment. Waited on hold 15min for first rep who said "yes there have been system issues, let me transfer you to someone who can help." I waited 12 more minutes.
Next rep picks up and with a very bad and unhelpful attitude, says "I don't know why she transferred you, she should have just took your payment info.", she then said "I don't even know how you were trying to pay", and "I don't know about any system issues". She said it was not her department who takes payments. I just needed to make a payment and for them to check to see if the system would charge me twice. What's wrong with these idiot reps not wanting to help and pointing fingers at each other?! I had other issues when calling into their customer service when I first traded my car with them not sending my mail to the correct address even though it's on my loan paperwork and I've provided it verbally through customer service! The incompetence is unreal folks. Steer clear of this bank.

I made a deposit of three checks totaling $10,000 via mobile upload on 6-20-20 (Saturday). Per their policy, funds will be available on the second business day after receipt of mobile deposit. My account was overdrawn due to unforeseen circumstances from pandemic. Today (6-23-20) is second business day after deposit and just enough money was cleared for them to take their fees, leaving me with $6 in available funds. The rest is being held until 6-28-20 per customer service representative April and supervisor Qua. I explained that my rent was due on 6-1-20 and that we had no groceries and requested that they please release these funds. No, they will not. I asked if they could at least hold off on taking their exorbitant fees. Nope, they won’t do that either.
Am I supposed to believe that in this day and age that my funds havent cleared in two business days?? This is clearly just PUNISHMENT from them for allowing my account to be overdrawn. They sure let me know who’s in charge—the big, bad bank, that’s who. Perhaps Huntington would like to get on the phone with my children and tell them sorry, no groceries for ANOTHER FIVE DAYS, and oh yeah, start packing because you’re about to be put out on the street.
These are truly different and trying times that we are living in and I, just like everyone else on this planet, am trying to figure out what the new normal is going to be, My newly-started business is not going to move forward as planned, I’m trying to figure it out. This is by far the worst customer service, lack of personal empathy, and biggest load of BS I have encountered thus far in this post pandemic world were all stuck in now. While this may not seem like much, over the life of the loan I will save $150. Just as I would have voiced my displeasure if an oversight led to a higher monthly payment, I must laud the forthrightness and transparency Huntington exemplified in this experience. I signed up with Stash investments through an app on my phone. Everything was good initially. No problems. But one day I got a notification that two orders have been placed for $3,333. I would never place such orders. I barely enough money to pay my bills most of the time. Whatever investments I have made, they have been for modest amounts.
I called them right away and told them these two orders were a mistake. I had caught it in time before the orders had finished processing and had gone through to my bank. There is nowhere on their site to stop an order and cancel it. Even before the order has been completed all of the way through and has been processed by the bank. There is nowhere on the site to cancel an order. So, I called them and told them it was a mistake. I would never place such orders for such extreme amounts of money.
The person I talked said there was nothing they could do to stop the orders. This is after I told them it was a mistake and I would never place such orders and that I did not anywhere near that amount of money in my account. But they went and processed the orders anyway even after I told them it was mistake and did not have such a large amount of money in my account. They ignore my request to stop the orders and cancel them knowing it would overdraw my checking account by thousands of dollars. Which it now has. I am thousands of dollars overdrawn on my checking account.
I called Huntington Bank to have stop payment orders placed on these two orders. In the past, when I called the bank to have stop payment orders placed the withdrawn amount would go in but then it would come back out within a day or two. But this time Huntington tells there's no guarantee when you make stop payment orders. The charges went through and are still there in my account even after I called them and told to stop the payments. This was before they had even received them. So, I had contacted Stash and Huntington and told them it was a mistake and to stop the payment orders and both have refused to do so.

It said, and still says, it was an electronic debit, paid out within 2 days. WRONG! They sent a paper check instead. Synchrony sent me a copy of it after I fought with them over the $35 late payment and 6 months of interest it cost me. I will never trust using bill pay again. I could have just as easily paid them directly, saving me hundreds of dollars in interest. Lastly, I was suppose to receive a $150 bonus after $1500 in deposits. When that didn't happen, I was told I needed to wait 90 days. Well, that didn't happen either. Now I'm told another 2 weeks. What a joke! I'll be going elsewhere ASAP.

I recommend avoiding Huntington for this reason. While we have little control who purchases our mortgages after we've closed, we can at least attempt to work with a bank that will allow these bi-weekly payment plans in order to save a little cash on interest. An easy work-around for this is to simply make one extra principal payment per year.

Huntington normally provides a 24-hour grace to make deposits, which they did UNTIL I took out a large sum of money awarded me by the State. First, I had to make my withdrawals in small increments because they said they didn’t have more than 7K on hand and it was their policy not to give out more than 7K at their banks. This sounded like a load of BS to me. If 3 people came in from JEEP to cash a paycheck that’s 7K right there! So that’s a lie! So I got a couple of cashiers checks to accommodate my withdrawal request. I wanted to pay my house off and some other bills I accumulated from being off from work due to being disabled.
Lo and behold, after I made the large withdrawal, ANYTHING that came in to be paid from the account, if the money wasn’t there, they immediately returned it, charging my account a NSF fee. Mind you, I had money at home to cover these, because I hate keeping my money in the bank because of past unauthorized ACHs which took forever to stop and get my money back. My opinion...they’re mad mad my because money isn’t sitting there for them to use and control! What happened to the so called so-called consumer approved grace period? These people are retaliatory and will steal from you by charging NSFs; if they can’t hold and use your money I guess they won’t let you use theirs. Five days after a standard deposit was made at the Maple and Lahser Branch, I received a phone message from the bank manager at the Birmingham branch informing me that Colin, the manager at the Bloomfield branch had placed a hold on my account because of missing paperwork on the account. Placing a hold on a business account without immediate notification obviously resulted in numerous issues with payments already issued and was entirely unprofessional especially with a longstanding customer for an error that was related to the banks own negligence.
Subsequent to the event, I was told a complaint with the regional manager would be filed. In following up on that complaint I found out that the Birmingham manager had not filed any complaints and furthermore refused to provide me with contact information to file a complaint directly. It is very concerning that Huntington employees are dishonest.

Cashed a check on a Tuesday & spent most of the funds, then TWO DAYS LATER (THURSDAY) Huntington decided they wanted to place a hold on the check and withdrew the entire (at this point non-existent) check back out of my account. My account ended up going negative because of this and everyone I talked to seemed less than interested in what was going on or had any sympathy towards the situation. They literally do rob their own customers, HORRIBLE HORRIBLE BANK!!! Imagine your employer giving you your check on payday, over the next day you pay some bills & make some purchases and then the employer decides they want your paycheck back from you for an additional 7 more days and take the ENTIRE thing back out of your account, that's exactly what happened to me instead of it being my employer it was Huntington.

I would give zero stars if I could. I have banked with this bank for years. They have an ongoing issue with their ATM machines, however I’m beginning to wonder if someone isn’t taking the money for themselves. I have made withdraws from the machines without getting my money and it will still debit my account and they make you file a dispute and wait to get your money back, this times it’s been 3 days and they still haven’t returned my money, other times I’ve made deposits through the ATM with cash and it doesn’t credit my account until I file a dispute and wait long periods of time to get my money. Their response is “it’s policy” to wait for the dispute to be resolved. It’s a joke. I need another bank. They told me they are getting new machines because they know it’s an ongoing problem. I am now beginning to think someone is taking the money hoping no one files a dispute so they can keep it.

I have talked to several representatives whom state money will be released on 10/31/19. I went into the branch and showed them the check posted to my husband's account and funds were verified. They still will not release the money or even partial. If I would have known this was going to be the result I would have just went to the bank it was drawn (on) the bank I also belong to. In the branch, manager said that my saving account was dormant due to being inactive for several months (just about 5 months!) So after finally receiving it, I tried to disconnect my bank from my PayPal card. After thinking it had worked, PayPal tried to pull out money for their top up feature. Apparently, it can do that up to three times. When you don't have the money, the bank charges you an insufficient funds fee and an overdraft fee. Neither of which was I informed about. 60$ in debt later, I need my money and well, tough stuff.
As well on numerous occasions, I'm told that my Friday check will be posted on Monday. During that time I have no money. Living paycheck to paycheck is hard enough. Monday will roll around, and my balance is still 0.00. When I call, it's always some excuse as to the effect that it needs to process or whatever, and it'll post on Tuesday. That's 4 days without any gas, any bills paid, anything. It's absolute garbage. I'm so done with this terrible bank.

I have had an account with Huntington for 3 years. Three months ago my card was charged 4 times and all were unauthorized. The total over $400 in charges. This set off a cascade of overdraft charges and subsequent bounced checks that would have never occurred without the presence of the fraudulent charges. I called disputes at huntington and was advised that it could take up to 90 days (mind you I had money being deposited into this account during this time). I begged for the EFT charges to be stopped to stop the avalanche of charges I was accruing during their "investigation". They stopped the EFT but refused to close the account during the dispute investigation. Which allowed for daily $37.50 charges for overdraft. Then out of the blue the account was closed and sent to collections....COLLECTIONS!
I won the disputes, and the company only refunded 4 of the overdraft charges. 4 of the 27 overdraft charges I received while they "couldn't do anything" about the fraudulent activity. The charges they did not refund me totalled $862.50...that's just the charges. I can no longer see the account, or the transactions. They are mysteriously missing, and hey what about the deposited money that were coming in throughout the time? Just gone? I would not have had 1 issue had I not been a victim of fraud. Now the bank has also robbed me blind. $1145 is what I lost in total. Thanks Huntington. You guys ARE WORSE THAN THIEVES!

I came to Michigan prior to selling my beautiful home in Arizona and Donna ** one of your loan officers stated I could get a per approval. I informed her that I had a short sale in April 2016 and asked if this was going to be a problem. Donna initiated me no and that is why I sold my home in Arizona because I waited for her to let me know prior to selling and accepting the offer to the home. Many times, during the initial information once I found a home it seemed as though she didn't know her duties.
Donna added an appraisal on the loan after she told me there would be no fees for an appraisal because the home was brand new. Then there were several names that was not me on papers that showed my alias names and I notified her that was not me and the addresses were not mine. Donna told me that the underwriter wouldn't give me the loan because she made a mistake on the information that she informed me and that her information was not updated. I already sold my home and she left my family without a home for a short sale that happened 3 years and some months ago. The Fannie Mae law is 4 years but if she would've notified me of this information, I wouldn't have ever sold my home in Arizona. What is the difference between now and five months for this loan?
I have never not paid my bills and I have always done the right thing. That is why I tried to hold onto the property in Michigan when I left during the housing crisis. I have no other negative inquiries on our credit, and we don't have any bills either and we have good credit. This makes no sense that your employee lied to me initially and I wouldn't have come here if I knew there was a hold on the amount of years on a short sale. Donna lied and sent a letter to my realtor stating that I refused to sign the documents and that is why I did not get the loan. Why would I not sign the documents if I were to get a loan? Makes no sense, why would I be in this mess if I wanted a loan and suddenly didn't want to sign the papers. Your loan officer lied and falsified documents to cover her job. I have emails that I sent her when I first reached out to her to ask about the short sale and about her telling me they wouldn't give me a loan.
I have a perfect credit score and the only thing I ever had was that home short sale that was sold for the amount that was owed, even though it says they took less than what was owed. I would like to speak to someone in your corporate office as I have not been able to get a hold of anyone other than her supervisor Katie ** and she told me Donna did her job. That she can't guess what your credit will be. I notified her prior of the short sale so it's not like I hid it. I tried to speak to her, and she wouldn't listen to reason.
Your company has destroyed my families lives because of a "mistake" and Donna even notified me in an email that it was her mistake in the first place because she didn't update her information. I also would like Donna's license pulled and she should not be able to sell loans when she is destructive with customers lives. Your company has defined my character in many ways especially sending letters and lying about what is on them in the first place. I would like someone to follow up with me in this matter.

I explained how frustrating this was for me yet the teller still failed to mention, if you need your money immediately to cash the check first then deposit it. Luckily I worked for a bank before and figured it out on my own. So from then on I cash my check first, then deposit the cash. Next incident, my card was lost, gas station manager told me he dropped it off at my local bank. They would not let me pick it up, said they had to cancel it and order a new one, it would come in the mail in 2 weeks. 2 weeks go by and I still don't have a card. I call customer service and find out the teller never order my card. Then recently I go to the bank ask to cash my check and have the cash deposited with $50 back in cash. I go to buy my son's birthday gift, and I find out she deposited the check and did not cash it first like I asked.
I was not too surprised because she took the check to the back like it was suspicious for like 10 minutes, so she probably made it go through processing on purpose seeing she had suspicions-despite I have checks from the same place same account every two weeks. From my experience from working in a bank, this many errors with the same customer would be so unexceptionable. Heck we had meetings over one one star rating. Maybe I just worked for quality banking. I hate to play the race card but I kinda feel these women do it on purpose. They can't show their racist self blatantly so they pretend to make little mistakes but it's on purpose because secretly they full of hate inside, but play it off, like "Oh my mistake, I didn't understand you, oops" or "I forgot."
So tired of people like this. There is nothing wrong with the ** aka melanin in my skin. All there are is benefits of having melanin other than racists hating you for your color. It's like being mad at a plant for its green color, or chlorophyll yet without it they would die and get burned up by the sun without it like their racist butts. Anyway I'm ranting cause I can't celebrate my son's first birthday because the teller I truly believe intentionally deposited my check instead of cashing it first. Soooo pissed!!!!

I would give "none" stars if I could. My father, who is completely techno illiterate, moved from MI to Canada (his home country) recently. Since he could not transfer monies from his Huntington account to his Central Savings in the same city without setting up online banking, I offered to do it for him. What a complete cluster farce this bank is. First of all I could not set up online banking because they did not have his new telephone numbers (even though he gave both his cell and new home number to his branch).
After three different chat room conversations - first one with Margaret very informative (second one a "Tyler" just disconnected rather than wait until I called my father for additional info) and third with Jessica ended with her finding out in actuality they did have both telephone numbers but could do nothing to help me and directed me to a "customer service" number. What a joke that was. The rep (couldn't remember her name for love nor money because it was of those LashondaRonda something) refused to advise me how to get the online banking to update the fact there were telephone numbers associated with the account so I got my father on a 3-way conference call and she so confused him he could not give her the info she required and she eventually just left the conversation while he was hunting for what she wanted. Nice. Needless to say he will be closing his account there as soon as possible.

In a matter of a day, Huntington has gone from 5 stars down to one star. I must say that the reps in the banking office and the call center are very nice and I enjoy working with them. So yesterday, I get an email out of the blue from Huntington notifying me that they’re cancelling my credit card. Shocked, I call to find out why and spoke with a fantastic supervisor. He explained to me that back in March 2019 Huntington started reviewing accounts and because my credit score is lower than their new minimum score to have a card, they cancelled me & they’ve been doing this with a decent amount of accounts. Also, they do not plan to reopen any of the accounts however he filed a maximum complaint form on my behalf asking that they reopen my card as I am a single mom of 2 and need this card for emergencies.
I could understand them cancelling my card if I had problems with paying the bill or even if I was a fairly new cardholder but I assure you that I’ve held this card for at least 3-5 years and have always made on time payments. This has been a smack in the face and they have just proven to me that my business is not valued and I am now looking for a new bank for my checking account which I’ve had for 16 years.

So I purchase a vehicle in June, and Huntington was one of the lenders that had a decent loan vs APR. After signing on the dotted line, a week later I receive a letter in the mail saying that they had made a clerical error with my loan numbers. They INCREASED the APR due to this error that they had made. Fast forward to a couple weeks later - and I have moved to another state and things have settled enough that I could get around to registering my vehicle. I go to the courthouse, they asked me to call the lender to get a copy of the title to be faxed over. I call and they say that they cannot fax a copy. I go home without a registered vehicle. That next morning, I call the lender again to try to request a copy of title to be mailed to the courthouse. The customer service rep that I speak with asks for some additional details - like my name, acct number, and home address. They then tell me that it will actually be mailed to my home instead.
A week later, I call to see if they had sent the copy of title yet. Turned out the first rep had been mistaken in what information was needed and I had provide different information. At this point, I am already a little annoyed with this "customer service". I wait another week and then call the courthouse to see if they had received the title yet. No such luck, of course. I call Huntington customer service once more and it turned out the information that they asked of me was not for requesting a copy of the title. No, instead it was a request to have them send a packet to the courthouse for the courthouse to fill out.
Fast forward to 5 weeks through this process, I just got off the phone with customer service rep #6. They are going to be sending the "title packet" to the courthouse today. Number 1 in customer satisfaction because they probably paid for those awards. I don't know about regular banking with this bank, but if it is anything like dealing with their loans department... RUN. I will be refinancing as soon as possible to get away from these clowns.

An year ago my account got locked out for some reason and I have been trying to unlock it ever since. The bank's customer service is as useless as it gets and their verification process is ridiculous for an institution that claims to be best in class and has received all these rewards. I do not know who has voted them so high but they are horrible. They insist on sending me a verification code to a phone number that has been deactivated three years ago and despite my numerous attempts to change the number to my present day number, nothing has been done.
The only other option is to step in a branch and do it in person. Do they really expect me to fly halfway around the world to unlock my account in person??? In the era where everything is done digitally and remotely, they expect me to step in person into one of their branches. They are not even a nationwide bank and operate only in few states. Mostly I am happy with their asterisk free checking. This account is very inclusive for those who live on a modest or budgeted income. Which are many! And that is a great asset of this banking experience. Especially when comparing with so many "high roller type banks" that are trying to make a profit off of those needing a place to deposit their income and pay their bills only.
What I don't care for is the online banking app goes one step beyond. And they seem to think now they should be your money manager. Assuming what and where you're spending your income on. Providing a detailed graph and claiming to be providing you with a money managing budget for the customer to follow. Give me a break! I think I'm capable of managing my own budget. Been doing it for 64+years. It's frankly none of their business how I or where I spend my money! And that's only the income that they are aware of. Not necessarily my total income.
I am constantly having to maneuver around their graphs and questions about my budget for that month. And how much I have left and what I should be using the remainder on. Even though I ignore all that jazz. I still am peppered with questions and disclaimers about my budget that I must delete before I can proceed into my personal account and do my banking! Is this how we must end up paying for our Free Checking??? At this point that's the only thing that's keeping me a customer. And the fact that most of their customer service people are so very kind, friendly, and considerate. So it ends up being worth it to me. Where can you go these days and get Good Customer Service? First of all, I signed up for free checking a long time ago. Like, back when Huntington bought out Sky Bank in the early 2000s. It was free, no fees. Then one day a couple years ago, I started getting charge $2.99 per month. I called and they told me that is the banking fee. What? How did I sign up for free checking but still have to pay a monthly banking fee out of nowhere. THAT MAKES NO SENSE. Well I got tired of trying to fight it but now I'm thinking how much money is $2.99 every month for years and years. I should have left Huntington then with their bait and switch tactics.
Now. Well they advertise 24-Hour Grace. All the commercials and information they provided back in the day state that if you overdraft, you have 24 hours to make a deposit to put you back in the black. That is what a grace period is. Grace. Look it up! Well out of the blue they apparently have decided to change the definition of grace and then behind the scenes change their policy without sending out proper notification to their customers! Instead of honoring 24 hour grace they just decline the transaction... Even for a cup of coffee, even when they have your pay history and more than likely the ACH file to know that your paycheck is dropping in the next day. ACH files are sent to by employers to banks days before the actual pay date. The bank knows you're getting paid!!! But nope. Stopped honoring 24 hour grace but still call it 24 hour grace.
I called Huntington, got the rudest CSR ever who basically talked to me like I was stupid. I explained that I had been a customer for a long time, been through the transition of Sky to Huntington, and was around when Huntington started 24 hour grace. I know what it was and is supposed to be. And I know they slyly changed their policy and didn't tell anyone because wow other customers have complained! I'm not the only one to notice this bait and switch. Reviews are littered with this complaint about Huntington. I was basically told the bank can do what they want... So they don't really have to honor their policies I suppose? Well I don't have to bank with Huntington anymore and will not be. I will be switching asap. Last Sunday I discovered that one of my three bank accounts, a savings account containing $3,000, was no longer listed on my portal. After calling the bank I discovered that they closed the account as they had requested information from me about it that I wasn't able to provide them because, I never received their notification which they sent me by mail. This came as news to me as I do all my banking either online or in person at the local branch, and the endless letters I get from them advertising credit cards or other products they offer, tend to get ignored. The bank representative told me the money was withdrawn from the account and a check was cut and sent to me by regular US Mail, which in our neighborhood is unreliable at best, non-existent at worst. At this point a week after the account was closed, I am still awaiting the check. Meanwhile I have bills that need to be paid and am depending on those funds to pay them.
I'm guessing my debtors will not accept the excuse that the check is in the mail. Perhaps worse than this dreadful inconvenience was the lackadaisical attitude shown me by the bank. Ever since I first contacted them, I received not one communication explaining the situation. I just got off the phone with a supervisor named Robert who simply brushed off my concerns by claiming that the bank did its "due diligence" by sending me a letter of their intention to compromise my funds. When I requested that the bank simply cancel the check and deposit it into another of my accounts, he flat out refused saying that it was not bank policy to do such a thing. And what if I don't get the check with the money I entrusted to the bank for safe keeping I asked? Well after ten days call us and we'll cut another check and send it, you guessed it, by US Mail.

The transfer was actually pretty easy to setup and went through with no problems. Then I received and email that the transfer was reversed. It was followed by a letter in the mail that the account was closed with no explanation of the reason. I called the 800 number on the letter, after a lengthy hold the rep came back on the line and simply said the account was closed due to "risk". How can a bank stop payment for a fee if I requested it but they can’t return my money because they claim they sent a check out and I have to wait until it comes. I told them that I need my money but they could care less. They made this error my only crime was being a customer of Huntington Bank. I stopped my direct deposit of my annuity check yesterday. Free checking account not free. I hate how banks and numerous companies try so hard taking advantages of consumers/users, you basically have to watch them constantly otherwise they are not afraid either shamed for their crimes of taking advantages from you, and when you caught them and called, how "stupid" the operators to be trained to sound when you are in a situation, which they have clearly known but how bizarre they have to pretend they are the dumbest ones that may have problems to understand your situation, just to hope you to hang up the phone and would never had to call them again.
I opened a free checking account, as long as I kept a required minimum balance I wouldn't be charged a dime monthly maintenance nor fees of using this account for my money flow and credit card payments. I am aware the minimum balance, and I always make sure to meet this minimum line or choose to stay above. However Huntington bank have secretly updated (upgrade I assume) my account without acknowledging me and secretly charged my $10/month for maintenance, so called service fee for two months before I found out, I can't recall the exact date, but I know that is after New Year of 2019, Spring, my account had been charged $10 account / month for two months.
Of course I called and complained and expressed to the operator how shocking I was when my account has been changed without acknowledge the owner - this sound ridiculous for a free checking account, although I have mentioned I have always met their minimum requirement balance of $300 on a daily base. After five minutes of conversation, I clearly explained and delivered the information and hope to get this $20 fee to removed, here has to mention the operator I was talking accidentally was the one of those professional "dummies" the companies has strictly trained, they appeared to you that they "seems" understand you and your problem, well but maybe not, so i was told this $20 charge will be removed, and I was happy.
Right, only two months, two months, I have not be able to monitor, to review my account, since it set as "auto pay" for full balance for my linked credit card, after this setting apparently rest is the bank's job to make it run and happen, only two months, not long! Huntington has already trying to bite me without mercy. For instance, I have to mention yes dear you have to watch your ** closely and constantly, yes basically your are partially doing their job for monitoring activities or charges on your own bank account (isn't it always so pleasant overwatch for your banks supervise their excellent job for them).. Time has passed, there was only $10 was removed and another $10 still remains on my balance. WTH, I said, yes, Huntington you need to be put in that category, right, hell, so I am cancelling my bank account with you, until you fix your greedy sickness.

I have about a dozen businesses. I only moved them to Huntington because they did a "bait and switch" where they offered me several services for free... but then once I was fully moved started to charge me for them. Since it is a headache to change banks again, I stuck it out. During that time I endured:
- For a while I had access to several other company's accounts in my online access. Seriously.
- Tellers constantly doing deposits wrong.
- Wire department doing wires wrong.
- Need to go into a branch to wire funds? It won't matter if it is $1,000 or $1 million... Bring a book, you are going to be there a while. Not because they are busy, but because the people in the offices are too busy talking about what they did the night before. They simply do not care about you (or even pretend to).
All this ended when they decided to close 80% of my accounts without cause or reason. They gave me 2 weeks notice (which included 2 weekends and a holiday). They did this 2 days after taxes were due. So any checks that were not cashed (FOR TAXES!) would bounce. Some were cashed in time, some were not. Pretty absurd. I should be mad. It cost me thousands and a week of my time. Strangely, I am not mad at all. I am just so relieved to finally be back at a real bank again. Closing my accounts so I never have to deal with them again is like Christmas morning. Two weeks before I received a letter from the bank telling me they were closing my accounts. They wanted me to call a private number and transfer all of my money to another bank because I was a "risky" customer. I read the letter and thought it was a scam because it seemed fishy. (If I called the number on the letter they sent me, they could ask for my account number and wipe my account clean of $.) I called my local bank and they said that my account was in good standing and there were no indicators of my account closing. So I believe them and ripped up the "scam".
Yesterday all of my money was gone and my accounts vanished. I'm very disappointed because I've had a great relationship with them for 9 years and I've never done anything to put me in the risky category. They would not provide me any reason whatsoever and told me it was an internal decision and would not relay any information as to what happened to my account. They told me they'd send a cashier's check 7-10 business days and returned my paycheck to my employer and all of my student loans that were processed with my provider, were retracted.. So now my bills aren't paid on the 1st of the month and my paycheck was taken away.
If I truly were "risky" then why would they keep my credit card accounts opened but take away my savings and checking accounts? It makes no sense! I have exceptional credit score and never had a loan out with the bank. I will be taking my business to another bank and Huntington will forever get my FREE advertising of how horrible their service was and is. So disappointed and so sad on how all the events unfolded. We took out a HELOC two and a half years ago with the intent of paying it off in three years. It has a repayment time of seven years. It had a variable interest rate and right after we signed for the loan the prime rate started going up. So we escalated our payoff time and paid it off about 6 months early. When I went in to pay off the loan I was quoted a payoff amount for 16 days in the future. The reason I was given for why I could not just pay it and close it that day was because they had to wait for my check to clear.
So I have a credit balance on the account. On this same visit I was told by the teller that in order to close the account I had to call and get a payoff letter sent to me. I was given a number at a call center to do that. I called that same day and used the automated system to request the payoff letter. The amount quoted was for the exact same amount that the teller gave me. It seemed weird that I needed a letter to tell the branch what was already on their computer screen, but I decided to let that go. The payoff letter never came. So after two weeks, I called again and received a quote indicating that even though I had a credit balance at the time, my payoff amount would be $12.50.
Needless to say, this made no sense. I called the branch and spoke to a very patronizing employee who acted like I was an idiot and told me I didn't need a payoff letter for a HELOC and I should bring a letter into the branch telling them to close the account. I did that a over week ago and was assured that in 3 to 4 business days the account would be closed and a refund check mailed. Guess what? As of today the account is still open and the credit balance is still on the account. How hard can it be to close an account?

Actually, it was three days before the supposed closing. I left two messages on his voice mail. He finally called me at approximately 12:30 and informed me the loan was not approved. He then suggested a co-signer, when I stated "It is what is and no I would not do that!"
At this time a I was distraught and depressed and feeling less than a human being. We were told we were approved, what happened? No answers. This Morning I logged into my Huntington Bank Account just doing a quick check to make sure my checkbook balance was the same as online and make sure I had not missed writing down anything I purchased in my checkbook. I normally do this task once a week. But Today I log in and as I am logged in I notice I have a security alert notification. I click on it to read the message and it tells me that my account was logged into from a device that was not registered and unknown to them. It said the login had happened 2 nights ago at about 1 am EST. I was asleep and know for a fact I was asleep at that time of morning. It had a number to call immediately if this login attempt was not me. So I call the number.
After going through a robot mode of multiple choice reasons I am calling and then being transferred to a representative who tells me very quickly she needs to transfer me to another department because she can't help me with a security issue and places me on hold for close to 30 min and finally picks back up and says hello only to then apologize when I say it's still me on hold and she again says she will transfer me. This time I am redirected back to the robot wanting to again know why I called and all and go through the robot questions again and verify my account info again with the robot. Then I get another woman from some other department who can hardly speak a word of understandable English. She can't understand me at all even though I talk slow and repeat my issue 3 times so she tells me to hold while she transfers me again and I suddenly get disconnected.
After being on hold all that time the woman just hang up on me. So I then call my local bank branch instead of the toll free number the security alert told me to call... Again I go through the robot crap and get a woman at my local branch who yes finally can fully understand and speak fluent English and she is able to assist an American here in the center of America!!!! The lady at my local branch however needs to transfer my call to a different department where someone who handles security issues can tell me details of what happened and help me. I am again placed on hold where I remain waiting and waiting with a sound of a phone ringing occasionally only to then go back to silence and then every few min a sound of the phone ringing again.
Finally some guy answers and immediately without me being able to say a word asks me to please hold and I sit there on hold another 11 min and 17 seconds before he answered again and asked me how could he help me. I explain yet again to the now 4th person today what happened and why I am calling not counting the robots I had to talk to as well...before being placed on hold to begin with. The man tells me that the reason I got the security alert was because I tried to log into my account from a device I had never used before. And it was no big deal. I explain how I was asleep at the time and know for a fact I was not logging in at 1 am 2 days ago and he says well then if it wasnt me then did I give someone my username and password and I said, "Of course not. If I did all that why the hell would I be calling you" and he tells me, "Ok please hold..."
And for the second time today I was disconnected by a representative of Huntington Bank for no reason other than they thought it was funny to not help me. So this time I said to hell with them. I got in car drove to my local branch, walked in, explained the situation to the branch manager, gave her the first names of the two ** who disconnected on me on the phone from who knows where and I closed my account fully as well as my savings account and drive right down the road to PNC walked in and opened an account there.

I recently opened a new account with Huntington Bank. I took a photo of a check from my employer to deposit with their app, since my direct deposit would not be available for another week. When depositing my check the app notified the funds should be available within 1-2 days. That night I went home and received an email stating that my check had a hold on it. I called the bank and found the hold was for 7 days! I called the customer service number and was told nothing could be done about the hold, even after speaking with a supervisor who was extremely rude.
That night I tried to log back into my account and found the supervisor placed a hold against my account so not only do I not have funds but now I cannot access my account at all, not online or in the app. I called again today and I was placed on hold for 30 minutes from 4:30-5:00 pm, I was then told by the customer service agent that the department that handles that situation closed... Of course they did, I was on hold for 30 minutes!
I am a new customer, I was happy to bank with Huntington but now I am living a nightmare. I cannot access my funds or my account to see when my funds come in. I have bills to pay that are now overdue. Shame on you Huntington for treating a new customer who likely would have opened additional accounts with you this way. I feel punished for asking about my funds and this account will be closed ASAP! Shame on you Huntington, you could learn a thing or two about customer service.

Have been working on an issue for several weeks with no results, huge runaround, zero satisfaction, and to find out they have wrong address... and say they cannot change that. Also cannot email information nor contact in any other manner all the while continuing to rack up fees that are not being reported due to wrong address. Currently have a formal complaint lodged as final resort so that recorded phone calls can be heard. I am buying new vehicle this weekend and will not be using Huntington. I have 53 and Chase and I will discontinue any dealings with Huntington.

I got an auto loan through Huntington Bank (from the dealer) and paid through the duration of the loan (72 months) until it matured. When I was finished they informed me I still owed almost $3,000 dollars. They wouldn't explain to me why and wouldn't let me talk to managers or anybody that could explain it to me. Finally I just kept paying my monthly payment until it was paid off and one evening a repo truck showed up at my house to tow my car...which should have been paid off! I called the bank while the guys were here and the woman couldn't care less and wouldn't take a payment over the phone. They just wanted more fees.
Even the repo men couldn't believe it and didn't want to tow my car but they had too. This was an absolute nightmare and completely humiliating as well. I paid the balance the next day (plus almost $500 in fees that Huntington added). Please beware and NEVER do business with this scam bank... I wish I had read these reviews BEFORE I got a loan through them. They should be illegal.

Second time in one year. I cashed my employers check, written to me, for cash-no deposit. Again, second time! Huntington Bank of Niles, OH. Meanwhile, this money is unavailable to me and will cause my account to overdraft. When it takes 15 minutes for them to play on a screen, then finally give me the money...they end up deducting it from my own checking account when the check came from another person. 2019, today's technology and this happens twice in one year? We purchased a vehicle that was financed through Huntington National Bank. The difference between our loan and the payoff was $1225. I was told that the reason was $899 GAP insurance, $250.24 some other type of insurance not explained and $75.03 in case we abandoned the truck. However, we cancelled the warranty and GAP insurance and checks in the amount of $752.64 and $2,348.10 were sent and received by Huntington on December 28, 2017 (this is now January 2019). They said the amount of $750 was misapplied as a payment instead of the GAP insurance.
I have been talking with them for three weeks and they still can't explain the difference. Even if the $750 was applied as a payment, then there is $475.00 that can't be accounted for, plus they have been charging us for GAP insurance for over a year. Huntington Bank told me today that the loan is closed and they won't help me any longer with satisfying my confusion. We will never deal with Huntington National Bank again.

They claim this is because of my bankruptcy. I have been paying ahead and extra on the account in order to pay off the loan, but I can't determine how much I still owe due to Huntington's secrecy on what I owe. Staff at the Bank call the Police if you are not the "right" color or if you attempt a transaction in an amount that exceeds what they believe your color should be handling. The Bank issued a statement in fact confirming that this was the policy at a Cleveland branch. In my own case, they refused to give me a 5 and 4 singles when I gave them quarters (I was turning in loose quarters). They also once deposited a $5,000 check as only $4,000, correcting the mistake after I brought it to their attention. The staff is poorly trained and are now documented to engage in racial profiling. None of these issues are so serious though that a well organized BOYCOTT of the bank wouldn't affect a permanent resolution overnight. At any rate, do business with your local credit union and move away from what is, in essence, an organized criminal ring.

I have banked with Huntington for many years and preferred them over all other banks for a long time. I have had savings, checking, auto loan, mortgage, retirement, and business accounts with them. But over the past two years I have had so many problems with getting hit with seemingly random "monthly service fees" on accounts that I have had for years that never had service fees before. I also had issues with automatic payments somehow not going through from my Huntington checking account to my Huntington auto loan account. And then I would get hit with fines even though I had not done anything to cause the problem. I thought it would be no problem to get it sorted out but I was shocked that they were not understanding about it at all and treated me like it was my fault. It happened more than once and it got to the point that they would only partially refund me on these mystery fees.
Long story short I ended up canceling all of my deposit accounts with Huntington because I just never knew when some kind of fee was going to appear on my account. And neither the customer service folks nor the local branch employees could tell me why I was being charged these fees. I even got escalated from one manager to the next and nobody could give me an explanation or assure me that the issue would be fixed. I estimate that I probably ended up paying $600-$800 in non-reimbursed fees in the first quarter of 2018. I won't be surprised if I hear about some sort of class action lawsuit in the next couple years.
Unfortunately I also administer a business account with Huntington as the bookkeeper of an organization I am involved in. And wouldn't you know it that this month we started getting some mysterious "monthly service fees" out of nowhere that we have never been assessed before. It's infuriating and I have lost all trust in this bank. I think that this sort of conduct borders on criminal. Do not bank with Huntington, period. There is no shortage of other options. The way I have been treated with Chase is like night and day by comparison.

After 60 days I went to the local bank asking why they hadn’t credit my account as promised. They told me it is 90 days so after 100 days it was still not credited to my account. I called the customer service and was told the link between accounts was incorrect and they would investigate the case and constantly update me. I didn’t received a single update so after 10 days I called again, I was told investigation was not in my favor because the $500 is for checking account only. That was a flat lie since the promotion was clearly said for combination of checking & money market. We have an auto loan with Huntington Bank and thought we were nearing end of 6 year loan. We've paid our auto loan online and have always paid the amount requested for the payment. Except for 3 times when we skipped payments around Christmas (which they and a lot of banks allow). We did have to make late payments, because we missed due dates by a few days (but had never been 30 days late until now). We made payments online in October and November and then were notified we were 30 days late for not making a payment of around $1600 because the loan had become due. This is 5 times the amount of our normal payment and never showed online where we make our payments. They say this large amount is due to the 3 deferred payments and approximately $600 in interest charged on the late payments.
My complaint is why didn't these amounts ever show online until we called today to complain, and now is too late. We now have a 30 day late payment on our credit report. When questioned about why this amount wasn't show online, they said it wasn't their policy and then they went on to tell me why it was my fault. When all they had to do is put the information where we and most people make payments. I've learned Huntington is definitely not about helping or doing the right thing. They're just about making excuses and blaming customers for doing everything wrong. They're just unable to say we're sorry, this should have shown online. What can we do to make it right.

Within two days, they issued me a provisional credit. I never received any further communication from Huntington, regarding the transactions, leading me to assume that everything had been resolved.
Fast forward exactly one month to the date that the provisional credit was issued, and Huntington Bank pulled all of their provisional funds, in a series of four transactions. When I went into my branch to ask what was going on, I was informed that I never should have touched those provisional funds, and they were still investigating and the funds aren't guaranteed. We took our statement to our branch and they called their credit department. We were told we had to pay the monthly purchase amount plus the minimum due to avoid interest. The following statement we did just that and got charged interest again. I called CS and got a very rude unhelpful woman. I then spoke to the teller at my branch and she filed a dispute for me, and stated that what I was being told was not what she had been trained about the way the 0% balance transfer works.
I received a call a week later from the resolution dept. and when I explained the situation to the woman she said she would have to look into it and get back to me. About a week later she called and basically said that because Huntington uses a daily average balance that even though we pay off the purchase balance every month we will still have interest from any purchases made after the last date on the statement. The only way to avoid interest is to not use the card and only pay on the balance transfer. This is so shady that even their own staff can't understand it and explain it. I spoke to four different people and got four completely different answers. Needless to say I will be taking my business elsewhere. Anybody has got to be better than this crooked bank. It's a very "I know better than you, and that's how I'm going to treat you" type of approach. It's off-putting and extremely irritating considering that many of them have little to no idea what they're actually talking about. It definitely makes me question whether or not I want to continue banking with Huntington concerning both my business and personal finances. This is something that I strongly suggest they work on sooner rather than later before they begin to lose clients, and by extension, their clients' funds.
Their policies for disputing charges, and providing evidence of said fraudulent charges are also very complicated and inconvenient. If a client is required to provide evidence supporting their claims, then they should be able to do so via email rather than having to print out the evidence, and take even more time out of their busy schedules in order to travel to a branch and turn it in by hand. It is ridiculous that a bank as large as Huntington still has such outdated systems that they aren't even able to accept forms, which they themselves request, by any other means than delivery by hand. We live in a digital age, and Huntington would do well to catch up with the rest of the world in that regard.

Take dormant accounts warnings seriously! Many states, like Ohio, have laws to channel money from accounts of the deceased to the state. In the case of Huntington National Bank ("Huntington" ), "under state law" it reports an account as "dormant" (First step in the $$ going to the State) if you have no transaction with that account for 11 or more months and IF, and only if, 1) the account is not "linked" to an "active account;" 2) You do not have another "active" account with Huntington; or 3) you do not inquire of them about the account during that period. Note that all three of these conditions would indicate that you are not dead.
All three conditions that bar dormant status applied to our money market account in question: 1) It WAS linked to an active (checking) account (confirmed several times by Huntington); 2) I and my wife did write to Huntington and telephoned its representatives multiple times about the account after the false claim that has become "dormant": and 3) We (still and temporarily) HAVE other active accounts with Huntington. So, one could reasonably conclude that we are not dead yet.
Nevertheless, we received an email (Unsigned. No return mail or email address. Email replies not allowed. Entity sending not identified) stating that in a few weeks our money market account would go "dormant" with several adverse consequences (The ultimate loss of the account balance was NOT mentioned, but the statute ultimately requires it.)
You are not allowed by Huntington to communicate with the "dormant accounts department" which is driving this lash-up - only with the utterly clueless "customer service representatives," who do not even understand the issue, much less have reasoned answers. And, no, they will not transfer your call to someone who can rationally discuss the matter. Huntington ignores everything you point out and grinds on down the path to, ultimately, sending your money to the State. Just after we received the initial "dormant account" warning, the local Huntington branch Manager, familiar with our business with Huntington entities, assured me, face-to-face, that we could ignore that notice because, "obviously," the account was not "dormant."
In the almost two months after I pointed out his assurances in one of my letters to Huntington, he utterly ceased to be available to speak to me by telephone or in person. (I do hope he did not get in trouble for being right. He is the only Huntington representative who comes off looking anything like "customer focused," and he knew the Huntington rules on dormant accounts, when no other Huntington representative I have reached has had a clue.)
Even in response to the federal banking authorities (the useless Consumer Financial Protection Bureau) the only communication from Huntington, signed by their primary company advocate "Sue ** "[Ironically mistitled "Customer Advocate"]) mindlessly repeated the conclusory, "The above-mentioned [account]... is in an inactive status...," ignoring the several reasons why it is not dormant under Huntington's published practices or the state statute. (Is "inactive" other than "dormant" or does the writer simply not know the Huntington terminology?) She attached one month's bank record to prove a year's inactivity. All the records prove is that the account in question is "linked" to an active account, precluding dormancy under Huntington's published practices or Ohio law.)
Additionally, at least two other Huntington reps told me on the telephone that, although knowing nothing about the issue, they could see that our money market account was not dormant. Their reasoning to that, correct, conclusion is unknown. We gave up and closed the account before Huntington could send our money to the State. Guess we are alive after all, reports of our deaths being exaggerated and all that. Others should be warned about this arrogant company.

I have added up my deposits and transactions and it shows I had enough money for everything and they are stealing money from me because they aren't depositing the money from the hidden transactions before taking it out again. So basically I am being charged twice for one transaction. I would bank elsewhere. It's not just fast food, it can happen to any type of transaction but most often on the fast food ones.

I've been with Huntington Bank for over a yr. now. I have a basic checking acct. with them. The branch I go to is in a grocery store near my home and the times they are open are ideal for me. I really liked the online banking, but I've been locked out of my account. I've tried to unlock it using the computer, over the phone and even in person but nothing has worked and they've pretty much told me it's my problem. Shouldn't a customer's problem be theirs too?

My wife and I received a letter stating that our checking acct. was being closed for, what they say is (risk tolerance). So we proceeded to call our branch office and talked to branch manager who we have dealt with many times before. He told us he had no knowledge of it being closed but would check and find out what the problem is. At that time we called the number on the letter for question and got a voicemail telling us to leave name and number and they will call back. Great customer service! But now that I've read many reviews about Huntington Bank I can see why they couldn't answer the phone when I called, they are probably are taking care of other complaints many, many. So the next day rolls around and they call, the lady I talked to ask me my name, address, acct. number and at that time I asked her (who I'm I speaking with?) she REFUSED to tell me her name!!! Unfreaking real!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME???
YOU WORK CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WON'T GIVE YOUR NAME? Let me compliment you Stephen S. and your whole executive team for assembly of this fine customer service. I also asked her (customer service lady I was speaking to) for an identifying number and again she said NO. So I asked why my checking acct. was be closed and what RISK TOLERANCE meant, she had no answer. Again I asked what it meant and again she had no answer for me, what a total waste of my time. NOBODY has any answers for us. It's too bad that there's not an email address to one of the executive team/board members to let them know how lousy their people are that are working in the Columbus office here in Ohio.
So now today my wife and I are going to another bank to open acct. and switch all auto withdrawals over. I guess this is the treatment you get after be with Huntington Bank since I was 18... I'm now 62. THANK YOU HUNTINGTON BANK AND THE ENTIRE EXECUTIVE TEAM. But don't feel bad. My phone went off showing activity and then again so I drove to the bank at the end of my street and as I went in it went off again and I showed the manager who was on his way to lunch. I said, “Please help, they are taking my money and it went off again.” He says, “Well I'm on my way to lunch but will help you.” So my card goes off again as he sits down slowly and says, “So how can I help you.” I'm like, “Look, do something before they suck my account dry.” So he finally logs in and stops my card but by then they got me for over $500 dollars and then he says that no matter what the charges with go through.
I'm like, “You saw my phone go off with charges as I sat here.” He says, “Well that's the way it is.” They will let the charges all go through and take the money out of my account and then dispute them and he says, "if we decide they were not you, within 90 days the money will go back in your account." Now I see why hackers would target them as no matter what, they let the charges post and go through. I even called the security number on my card in Ohio and she said the same thing. Total BS. I am going to my Credit Union or Chase. Please beware of this bank.

I asked to speak directly with the department and was told the lien release department would not take any calls and they would put in a request.
I called back and am told that it has not been processed and I can submit another request. I always thought banks were a service industry. I have spoken with my local bank and they have tried to help with this. Huntington, although they have been very nice and told me and my bank they would work on this Huntington has not done anything to help this process along. The last time I spoke with them I informed them they need to look at their processes and policies. I reminded them they are only in business if people use their services. I guess I am old school, I always thought you took care of your customers to keep their business but, I guess times have changed. If there were options to give -0 stars I would give it. I have been trying to cancel my escrow for 3 months. I began the process back in early April. The first excuse of the bank is that I had not had my mortgage open longer than 1 year. After 1 year, which was 10 days later, they said that they will re-review it which I believe they did not without me calling in again. Next request was to fax in a letter requesting it, and once I requested it via fax then they would mail me papers to fill out in order to cancel.
After completing that, the problem became there was a small balance of -132.00 which held up the cancellation. This amount was then paid, and then I again expected the escrow to canceled. The problem then became the auto debit was automatically canceled due to the escrow cancellation request so, the monthly payment including an incorrectly analyzed escrow payment needed to be made in order to cancel the escrow. Needless to type the escrow is still not canceled, and they want me to overpay almost twice the mortgage principal and interest payment in order to cancel my escrow. The customer services and mortgage department related to the escrow analyzing is awful. Huntington offered a decent APR the loan for my new car. That is probably the only service I have received that is worthy of mention. The staff is very polite and appears to be helpful but the lack in technical support can really make for a cumbersome experience when conducting online banking. I have tried adamantly over two days to register for online banking. Their software is sub par and their tech support for online bank is poor to say the least. Generally I am a very patient person, but this is a topic Huntington should address immediately. Your online banking enrollment process is flawed and needs to be redeveloped. I have received 7 phone text message verification, 5 different calls from Huntington to provide verification codes and nothing has helped. I receive an error when I try to log in to my online banking.
I am quite frustrated so I took the time to write this review. Throughout this process, I even had a customer service rep claim to be transferring my call and then hung up on me. Once the customer service was no longer helpful I tried enrolling myself and the software stated I was already enrolled. 20 minutes of log-in error messages would say otherwise. I am very disappointed and I wish Huntington would figure these problems out immediately. If I don't know it's overdrawn, then I do not receive 24-hour grace. I am 100% positive this is NOT because I blocked the Text Message on my phone. I do not use that feature. As a very low paid Special Education TEACHER & parent of a Special NEEDS child, I felt like finally there was a bank that understood my financial struggles. I formerly saw Huntington Bank as a bank that cared. No fee checking is a joke. It's cost me $225 since April of last year.
My opinion of Banks in General. My opinion of other banks is they are entities that are designed solely to profit off the misfortune of others. They charge fees people really can't afford to pay. They give very low return for the privilege of holding your money in their vault. They openly discriminate against individuals and try to call it good banking. Fun facts: a bank can sue you for any reason, you are required by law to purchase an expensive attorney, and there are little to no bank regulations. It's long and drawn out, repeats information more than once, does not allow me to switch to touch tone only, and still requires me to enter a check number (which is rare these days). Once you've experience a bank that does this efficiently, making it very easy to quickly pay by phone or online, it feels like you've stepped into the past when using a service that is not as efficient.
The one thing that I do like about them, however, is that this option to pay does make it easy for Huntington to find your information when calling from another phone or your phone. More of this type of ease and efficiency is what I would like to see with Huntington, and less long-winded auto scripts and repeated information.
