Huntington Bank stuck me in a forbearance program in April of 2020 with no paperwork, no authorization and couldn't get ahold of anyone of any power until I almost lost everything dec 2020. There was no paperwork, they have refused to make it right even with their homesavers dept having records of me trying to make a payment to stop it that they refused to accept. There has to be some kind of paper trail because the forbearance program they claimed I was in was suppose to be over Aug of 2020 but was coded for Aug of 2021, 18 Mos later. I can't fight a 22 billion dollar company and shouldn't have to since they haven't admitted their fault. It buried me in credit card debt that I've tried over 5 years to get rid of and I can't. I've lost over $550,000 since 2020. It's just not fair. Steve Steinour should be ashamed.

I called in last evening due to a letter I received about my CD and automated renewal at 2.5%. Chase is currently offering a 4%. I have accounts with both banks and was told although they could not meet that they could do a 3.92%. So I set up an appointment to go in and renew it with Huntington. When I got there, the person that worked with me told me that they couldn't match the 4% and it did not mature until the 30th. She said at that point they could put it into a cash account and transfer it over to Chase. The feeling that I got was that they did not really care to keep my business. That is fine, I will pursue transferring to Chase, I have 10 days from the 30th to do so. The thing that bothers me the most is the person that I spoke with the day before (SHOULD) have told me that I couldn't do anything until the 30th instead of wasting my time by going in for the appointment...

Very disappointed with their customer service. A customer disputed a purchase and without any concern for me. They gave their customer the money back without any research and now I’m without my money and product. What a horrible way to run a bank and very unfair to small businesses.

Huntington was a very bad banking experience. Jan 2023 - Cleveland OH, 9th St. Branch. This is the only bank that clipped me for my money. I deposited a check for approx. $2,000 and they took 17 days to process it. I was told at first 7 days, then 10 days, and the check finally cleared 17 days later. When I was told 10 days I made $500 in online purchases, because the account balance showed the check cleared. The bank reversed the cleared check and charged me with an overdraft which cost me about $200, half of the $400 account opening bonus.

Last Thursday I deposited a check over $7300 and went to the wrong account. Huntington did not catch the mistake. I went back into the bank the next day because I didn't even see a partial deposit. It took 2 hours to correct and was given the excuse tellers make mistakes, "even if it's one digit". None of the digits were correct. And they told me they informed Stacy (who got my deposit) funds would be taken out of her account Before they corrected my account. Very disappointed in how they handled and how long it took to correct their mistake. I've been at the same branch for years and the last 2 years I see new staff and rare to see any I recognize.

Terrible experience trying to obtain the title for my RV loan. It’s been 14 days now since the loan was paid off and they won’t release the title to DMV. Their policy is a 7 day hold before releasing the title to DMV. They can’t explain the long hold and each day inform it will be released tomorrow. Calling is useless and the representatives repeatedly state the same script. Extremely frustrating considering a buyer is waiting for our RV and can’t transfer ownership or even provide a date due to Huntington’s poor services. Do not use this bank as they need major improvements.

I would give Huntington Bank a 0 if I could. I have banked with them for years thousands in checking & thousands & thousands in savings & even with a vantage score at 710. No luck. I have a home valued at $245 thousand. I owe $155 on it & can't get a equity line of credit. I'm sure they have a reason for not approving it. I'm just saying they always have an excuse. I'm done I am pulling out all efforts wasted & all funds with this terrible bank.

This is the most ridiculous bank ever. I saved with them for about 10 years and they used my money to do business. I withdrew my funds for personal usage and they closed my accounts accusing me of being a fraudster. These idiots had the entire record of where my funds came from the entire time. I was duped doing crypto.

I would ABSOLUTELY not recommend banking with them. More than several times they have locked my card in the middle of a purchase and they are not available to resolve with after certain hours. So if you are out of town somewhere you are in trouble until the next day. They also (per their terms and conditions) get to tell customers where to spend their money. At ANY time they can prevent a purchase and you will have to call them (if you get them during business hours) to resolve. This happens OFTEN and makes banking with them a headache. I would not put any large amounts of money in there if I were you because there is always an issue with money missing and them having to send me another card. If you change your phone number with them, it takes up to 30 days to update in their system. Choose another bank for your own peace of mind.

This place is horrible. Stay away from it. I have made my payments consistently every month for over a year. And they're telling me that I owe them $1,500 in late fees and I haven't made a payment in 50 days. Attached is the proof that I have made my payments every month but yet they still tell me I haven't made my payments. This was after it took me 2 months for them to accept a payment from me because they would not take my credit cards. They would not take my bank cards. I called them and gave them my bank information and they still kick the payment back. Finally I set up a direct deposit from my bank to them which is what you are seeing.
The first payment of $13.50 was because they would not accept my credit cards or bank cards even after I spoke with them on the phone and they said everything was good. Then they hit my credit as well saying I made late payments.. I recommend that you just stay away. They are corrupt and will just tell you you are wrong the whole time you're trying to talk to them on the phone.

I guess that other companies do it, but Huntington gave me 5% on a money market account and didn't tell me it was a brief introductory rate. So I went on for quite a while at 1% without knowing about the rate change. Which cost me thousands of dollars. They steal money from you but have found a way to do it legally. I'm embarrassed that this is still my bank.

Have banked with Huntington over 5 years. It is risky to depend on Huntington Bank to Handle Your accounts in a professional manner. They will turn off your online banking and put your account on hold for no reason. It will then turn on like it never happened offering no explanation. Scheduled transfers you have done repeatedly stopped being made, plenty of money in the bank for transfers, again no explanation. Huntington is the bank for you if you don't mind not being able to access your money occasionally through online banking and don't mind if money transfers occasionally are canceled with no explanation. Huntington bank is the reason people save their money in a sock drawer instead of a bank.

I had fraudulent charges on my account. Huntington Bank does not have 24 hr customer service. When you need a new debit card they charge you $25 to receive it in 2 days. Otherwise it's free and it takes 5 business days. I was surprised that I'd be charged $25 when I've banked with them for many years and keep a decent balance. The customer support is also lacking, only open business hours. I think it's time for me to open a new account at another bank.

They are awful, they do not have anyone handling fraud cases after 8pm, they claim they are 24 hours but this is only if you have a credit card with them. I received a fraud alert notified them it was not me that made this purchase, they let the charge go through anyway, after 2 days of aggravation I was on the phone with a supervisor who was not so nice who I swore at they then proceeded to remove all my access, they have a zero tolerance policy against cussing but I guess they don't against someone stealing almost $2700 from my account.
I was treated as though I was the criminal instead of the victim and who would not be upset when their entire account was depleted with not help from the bank, other than a generic message that due to high call volume they cannot take your call, when in fact there is no one there working at all, and the supervisor disclosed that it was in fact a generic message. They only service their credit card customers 24 hours a day, so they only are concerned with people who are spending money on their credit cards not the ones who have actual money in the bank.

An account was closed. After removing all funds, I waited a week and called to confirm as directed. The agent on the phone confirmed that the account was closed. In fact, I requested a reversal of a $25 service fee from the last statement for a balance that slipped below the allowed amount. She said, "I can't address a fee on an account that is closed." A month later, on 4/12/25, I received a statement with a balance of $1.22. I have had many issues calling 1-800-480-2265 with agents who do not know what they are doing and are extremely unhelpful and rude.
They asked if I had confirmation, to which I said yes, and then they requested the number. I never received written confirmation it was closed and didn't know I needed to have it. I thought a verbal confirmation with an agent over the phone was sufficient. The rude agent accused me of assuming the account was closed. My advice is to keep a journal of every call and every agent's name, as this bank is not professionally administered.

I had one of the worst banking experiences with Huntington Bank. At the beginning, everything seemed great—friendly, professional, and responsive service. However, as time went on, communication completely fell apart. They stopped answering calls, ignored emails, and provided absolutely no explanations despite having all the required documentation.
To make matters worse, their automated system sends one message, only for their representatives to contradict it 24-48 hours later. After an entire week of calling, emailing, and leaving messages, they finally responded—not with an explanation, not with a solution, but just with a generic letter. This level of incompetence and disregard for customers is unacceptable. If you’re considering banking with them, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Been with them for five years, and this review is specifically for personal checking account, as I have not tried their mortgage, etc. Excellent place to receive money and manage every day expenses. The checking account is 100% free and the website is OK, but the reason I rate it that high is the reliability. Examples:
- Overdraft protection: I once by mistake forgot to put money on my checking and overdrafted my account. Got a message, transferred funds. Huntington will not charge any fees if you keep the overdraft below 24 hours, so that cost me nothing
- Currency exchange: Great rates to buy euros or Canadian dollars, picked up within a week in cash at the branch
- And the reason for that review: My debit card info was used fraudulently. Huntington automatically blocked the transaction, texted me, and once I confirmed it was fraudulent, blocked the card. They gave clear info to contact fraud prevention who checked recent activity and issued a new card, then sent me to the branch to get a temporary ATM card. Between seeing the text and getting the ATM card, 30 minutes. Phone with fraud, travel time to the branch, wait and card delivery included. Took an extra four days to get the actual replacement card by mail. So overall, Huntington is the bank you can forget about, knowing it will do its job reliably and securely.

Huntington closed my account yesterday with NO EXPLANATION. Whatsoever. The online banking just kept telling me my password was wrong. When I called customer service they asked me if I have ever been a victim of identity theft. I have not. But even if I had, why are you victimizing people even further by upending our finances??? Just conveniently closed my account right before I was due to receive my opening bonus. I will never work with this 'bank' ever again and will spread the word as far as I possibly can to prevent anyone else from going through this!!! I can't even access my upcoming deposits. And the "pay early" is NOT correct. My deposit normally comes on Friday for every other bank. For Huntington, it doesn't come until Monday or Tuesday.

Their customer service is among the worst I've ever encountered. I've been banking with them since 2004, back when they were still TCF. I live in a small Minnesota town near the Wisconsin border, so I frequently shop between states. Despite knowing this, they repeatedly locked my card and failed to send verification codes to my phone, even though my number is listed on my account. They also ignored the fact that I was calling from a recognized number.
A few days ago, one representative was able to bypass this issue and temporarily unlock my card. However, the next day, the same problem occurred, and they refused to assist me. Today, it happened yet again, and this time, they permanently locked my card until I visit a physical branch to update my information—information they already have. I explained that I am disabled and cannot travel 120 miles just to verify details that are already on file, yet they still refused to help, claiming there was nothing they could do. This is false, as they have assisted me in the past. Once I receive my monthly payments, I am withdrawing all my money and closing my account. There is absolutely no justification for their refusal to assist me when they've done so before.

If I could I would give it no stars. This is one horrible bank. Their procedures and processes are unclear, convoluted, and conflicting and not even their experts know what applies and when. I was dealing for over three weeks with a local banker who often had to call a headquarters expert, and they still could not figure out answers to my simple questions. Even worse, was the fact that their answers were different every week. This is an antiquated bank that is stuck in the 1950s or 60s of the last century. They failed to move into the 21st century, and for that reason, it is only a matter of time before they will go out of business.

I spent 3 days trying to get a certified check from my mother's account where I am the POA. They claimed that I never completed the required paperwork. I went back home to unpack boxes to get the documents they claimed were never complete, including the TCF document related to my POA. I gave them the documents on day 2, they said they needed an overnight process and that my brother would also need to sign -true, we were both POAs.
Day 3 my brother and I both go to the Southdale location but my brother needs to sign some paperwork. Then they tell us we must go to the bank, the branch cannot handle this amount, which they knew about the amount on day 1. Off we go to the Edina bank location to get there and have to redo all the paperwork since the branch did it wrong. Then they had to call to get the account unlocked. While the manager was doing this he looked over the account and did apologize. They had all of the paperwork all along.
After 3 days we finally got the certified check, followed shortly by a letter from Huntington that since they did not have all of the required documentation on the account within 30 days they were freezing the account and they would no longer even accept her social security deposits. When we called on that issue we were told that was an "automatic letter", just ignore it. So, nice to know they are automatically incompetent. Now I made a large deposit on a Friday, the deposit is still pending, under review on Tuesday. I really don't think they want your business. Also, while waiting in line, one of the tellers advised a couple who had opened an account to not add beneficiaries to the account. If they did, it would have to go through probate. Take your money and move to a real bank.

I would give this banking company a zero star if I could. My sister took out a thirteen thousand dollar home equity line of credit, and paid on it 5.5 years on it religiously. Her husband had a stroke on July fourth and did not work the year previous due to plant closure. She contacted the bank to go under a hardship but to continue to pay on the loan so to not go into foreclosure. Their idea of helping her was not to bring down the 14.26 percent financing charge, as they said they would do, but they added twenty dollars a month to her payment, and 360 months like a mortgage. She would be 91 years old, and they would get over 80,000.00 in interest on a 13,500.00 loan. They also added a charge 2,800.00 dollars for lawyer fee, to stop foreclosure, on a loan she already paid over 5.5 years on, and the entire principal was already paid back. Over 13 000.00 dollars. And they considered this a hardship?
Their idea of customer service under legitimate hardship SUCKS. Be well aware they will never help you as a long-term customer. They are out for themselves and just want all your money. I'm her sister and I took care of it, so they can kiss my **. Never will my family ever do business with this piss poor excuse for a company. You would do well to heed the warning.

Huntington's "Askerisk-Free Checking" comes with a HUGE asterisk - non-Huntington ATM fees. For example, I paid over $30 for 2 ATM transactions in addition to the ATM fee from the ATM owner. About $40 total in fees for two transactions. That's not "asterisk-free" checking. That's a ripoff. And, there is no warning at the ATM when conducting the transaction. Instead, you just get blind-sided by the fee when you check your account. Contrast that with my other bank who not only does not charge this fee, but reimburses me for ATM fees charged at the ATM.

My review is a tad more personal, but I can honestly that I now know my place at Huntington and that place is just another account. I used to work at Huntington in the mortgage department and we were always preached to, to make a personable relationship with our borrowers. To show that we care, and they are more than just an account, to go above and beyond. Well... now that I'm on the other side of that, I feel Huntington has failed. I applied for a hardship for my mortgage payment. I've had my mortgage with them since 2020, never been late, never overdrawn my account, never complained about anything (even during escrow analysis when a double payment was made for my insurance and I had to fight to get things corrected and payment dropped, this should have been caught by that department).
I included a detailed letter with my application explaining my situation and that I didn't even need the full 6 months, just a month or two to get caught back up. I even attempted to get this done BEFORE missing a payment, hoping we could work something out before there would even be an issue. Not only did they wait until after the payment was due, but it was denied altogether. I understand everyone is struggling in this economy and some even worse off than me. But that's also why I wasn't asking for an altogether forgiveness' of some sort, just to be worked with so I didn't ruin my credit score and still be able to put food on the table.... Huntington failed at this. I currently work at another bank dealing with mortgages and used to direct people Huntington's way if we were not able to help them.... Needless to say, I will no longer be doing this.

ZERO IS TRUE rating. Had been with TCF bank and loved their service for over 15 yrs. I had personal and business checking and savings accts. With small minimal balances to take waive fees or minimal fees. Huntington takes over and now it is a COMPUTER GENERATED bank. NO people to discuss issues, always have to go to corporate, wait for corporate etc. Just got back from my branch to pay a $40 fee on an account that was to be CLOSED but was still pending the paperwork which was submitted on the 13th but it takes 48 hours or longer for corporate to acknowledge, so they posted 4 cents, yes 4 cents interest on my account on the 15th, which kept the account open! This generated the monthly fee of $40 since my balance was under $5,0000. So I just shelled out $39.96 to close account because I earned 4 cents in the month of July!
Branch managers now do not have permission to waive fees as TCF employees could do in the past, everything must be approved by corporate. Good luck speaking to an English speaking person with your problems. Huntington now outsources their service department for complaints etc. Closed all my accounts with Huntington, moving on to credit unions where hopefully they appreciate their members!

I am writing this review to express my profound disappointment and frustration with the discriminatory practices and disrespectful treatment I experienced at this branch. As a ** customer, I was appalled by the blatant discrimination and lack of respect shown by the bank's staff (the Indian manager and chubby blonde). During my recent visits to the bank, It was clear that my race influenced the way I was approached and served. The staff displayed a disturbing lack of professionalism and courtesy, making me feel unwelcome and undervalued as a customer. I witnessed and experienced prolonged wait times, unnecessary scrutiny, and outright dismissive attitudes from them. It was evident that ** customers were not given the same level of service and respect as others, which is unacceptable and deeply troubling.
In one particular incident, I was subjected to unwarranted questioning and treated with suspicion when attempting to conduct a routine transaction. This level of disrespect and prejudice is not only unprofessional but also a direct violation of basic human rights and dignity. Discrimination in any form is intolerable, and it is disheartening to see such behavior from an institution that should uphold principles of equality and fairness. No customer should ever feel marginalized or mistreated based on their race or ethnicity.
I strongly urge the bank to address these discriminatory practices and take immediate action to train their staff on diversity, equity, and inclusion. It is crucial for the bank to foster an environment where all customers are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. I hope that my review serves as a wake-up call for the bank to reflect on their practices and make the necessary improvements to ensure equal and fair treatment for all customers.
